- 0:00Speaker 1: Coach. We've talked the last couple of weeks after some
- 0:03Speaker 1: close losses, what does it feel for the group to
- 0:06Speaker 1: get back in the win column here today?
- 0:08Speaker 2: Well, I think there's a sense of relief that we won,
- 0:11Speaker 2: but I don't think there's any sense of satisfaction, you know.
- 0:16Speaker 2: I mean, we need to play better than we played,
- 0:19Speaker 2: especially defensively late. That's been an achilles heel of ours
- 0:23Speaker 2: so far this year, is not being able to stop
- 0:25Speaker 2: people in two minute situations, and we need to get
- 0:28Speaker 2: that corrected immediately. But I'm really proud of the way
- 0:30Speaker 2: our offense responded to the second half, especially running the
- 0:32Speaker 2: ball when we needed to run the ball. Cam had
- 0:35Speaker 2: almost two hundred yards rushing and would have been more
- 0:37Speaker 2: than that had they not called that one back. So yeah,
- 0:41Speaker 2: I mean, look at a win, and we're two and two,
- 0:43Speaker 2: and now we get to go on the road and
- 0:44Speaker 2: try to see if we can get another one.
- 0:47Speaker 1: There are different moments when guys come off the field
- 0:49Speaker 1: after defensive drives. Offensive Camp scored the first of the
- 0:52Speaker 1: two touchdowns and you brought him over and you were
- 0:55Speaker 1: in his ear hole saying something. What do you say
- 0:57Speaker 1: to a guy like that when he comes up with
- 0:58Speaker 1: a big play.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Well with I mean, I don't know, it's hard to remember,
- 1:03Speaker 2: but like Cam's special, and he's special to me because
- 1:06Speaker 2: we've been together the whole time. You know, he's been
- 1:08Speaker 2: one of the guys that that you know, I got
- 1:11Speaker 2: to recruit and he came in here and he had
- 1:13Speaker 2: a tough start to things and I wasn't sure if
- 1:15Speaker 2: he's going to last and make it here, and we
- 1:16Speaker 2: didn't really know where to put him, and he had
- 1:18Speaker 2: a little bit of a goofy attitude. But he was
- 1:20Speaker 2: just a young kid, you know, and so it's really
- 1:23Speaker 2: special when you see a young man like that grow
- 1:26Speaker 2: up and just become what he's become on and off
- 1:28Speaker 2: the field, and everybody gets to see what he is
- 1:30Speaker 2: on the field when he runs the ball. But that's
- 1:32Speaker 2: just the result of the type of person that he is,
- 1:34Speaker 2: you know. I mean, he's just a relentless worker. He's
- 1:37Speaker 2: you know, I think he's a dog, and I say,
- 1:40Speaker 2: Dawg's a dog. I mean, you can count on him,
- 1:42Speaker 2: you can trust him. He's going to bring toughness and
- 1:44Speaker 2: energy and he's going to deliver when it's when it's necessary.
- 1:47Speaker 1: At halftime, you talked about getting it in a way
- 1:49Speaker 1: and ultimately Lee Mallette comes up with a big play
- 1:52Speaker 1: there on defense. What bring. He's not a guy that
- 1:56Speaker 1: I don't think we talk often about.
- 1:58Speaker 2: I don't think anyone really talks about leave very much.
- 2:00Speaker 2: And he's the same thing. He's been here for, you know,
- 2:02Speaker 2: four years with us, and uh, it's good to see
- 2:05Speaker 2: him make a play at that time. And he's really
- 2:07Speaker 2: matured a lot. I remember a couple years ago against Rice,
- 2:09Speaker 2: he had a chance to end the game that all
- 2:10Speaker 2: went through his hands. And now he's making plays. You know,
- 2:12Speaker 2: it's just as a coach, it's really uh, it's really
- 2:16Speaker 2: rewarding when you see guys start to really figure it out,
- 2:19Speaker 2: you know, and and make plays and become you know,
- 2:23Speaker 2: mature adults as opposed to young kids what they were
- 2:26Speaker 2: when they came in. I mean, that's what you love
- 2:27Speaker 2: about college football. Coach, Thanks so much, Okay,
