- 0:28Speaker 2: In a studio today we are joined by a strong woman,
- 0:31Speaker 2: beth Keeling, and Bethie will be telling us all about
- 0:34Speaker 2: a strong woman competitions she took part in recently and
- 0:37Speaker 2: we're hoping to get her husband Josh to tell us
- 0:40Speaker 2: what it's like being married to a strong woman. Now,
- 0:50Speaker 2: if we get time, I've got a few other sporty
- 0:52Speaker 2: snippets to share with you as well, but as what
- 0:56Speaker 2: happens normally on a Saturday morning when we get guests
- 0:59Speaker 2: in run away with the time, So you got to
- 1:02Speaker 2: bear with us now. This first song is for Aidy
- 1:16Speaker 2: and his wife sam Ad loves his football and I
- 1:19Speaker 2: saw a picture of him on Facebook in the Cape
- 1:21Speaker 2: Verdy football shirt the other day. In case you didn't
- 1:24Speaker 2: know it, Cape Verdy have made it through to the
- 1:27Speaker 2: finals thirty two of the World Cup last night when
- 1:30Speaker 2: they drew a Neil Neil with Saudi Arabia, helped by
- 1:33Speaker 2: the fact that Spain beat Uruguay, which means they now
- 1:37Speaker 2: faced defending champions Argentina. Not only that, they've made history
- 1:42Speaker 2: by becoming the smallest nation to reach the knockout stage
- 1:45Speaker 2: of the World Cup. Now it's eight o'clock in Cape
- 1:48Speaker 2: Verdi and Ad you may be listening. Good morning, Ad.
- 1:50Speaker 2: He wasn't listening last week. But if you asked me
- 1:52Speaker 2: for one word to describe Cape Verdie's achievement so far,
- 1:57Speaker 2: it would have to be this one.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Wait for it, here he comes. You're unbelievable. I love
- 2:14Speaker 1: that song.
- 2:15Speaker 2: One word, isn't It just sticks in your mind. You
- 2:17Speaker 2: can imagine emf on stage, everyone just jumping up and
- 2:21Speaker 2: down as soon as they said unbelievable. And that's what
- 2:25Speaker 2: Cape Verdy are as I was saying they got through
- 2:28Speaker 2: to the last thirty two of the World Cup. In fact,
- 2:32Speaker 2: I've been doing a little bit of research on Cape Verdy.
- 2:34Speaker 2: It's like lots of little islands, you know, all under
- 2:36Speaker 2: the same banner and the real holiday spot. So Eddie,
- 2:39Speaker 2: if you're listening, uh, you had a great, great night.
- 2:42Speaker 2: It must be great on the island whilst Cape Verdy
- 2:45Speaker 2: are doing their stuff.
- 2:46Speaker 1: But Argentina Lionel MESSI.
- 2:48Speaker 2: But now we joined in the studio today by Beth Keeling,
- 2:51Speaker 2: who has recently taken part in a strong woman competition.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Good morning, Beth, how are you morning? I'm well? You good?
- 2:56Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 2:57Speaker 1: Great to see your Beth and Josh. Let's bring you
- 2:59Speaker 1: in morning. Josh, how are you good?
- 3:00Speaker 3: Thanks?
- 3:01Speaker 2: Yeah, good, lovely to see you both. Now you've just
- 3:03Speaker 2: come back to holiday, haven't you. You're not very tain
- 3:05Speaker 2: what you've been doing?
- 3:05Speaker 1: Sight seeing?
- 3:06Speaker 4: Yeah, lots of sights? Hee was it?
- 3:09Speaker 1: Where have you been?
- 3:09Speaker 4: And we went to Italy and Sorrento.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Right, and Sorrento? So is that a real big tourist
- 3:16Speaker 2: town or is it is it kind of historical?
- 3:18Speaker 4: It's a bit of both.
- 3:20Speaker 1: I would say, yeah, yeah, okay. Do you have a
- 3:22Speaker 1: good time Josh.
- 3:23Speaker 3: Great time? Yeah, really good time?
- 3:25Speaker 1: Right?
- 3:25Speaker 3: Lots of pasta, lots of pasta, lots of pizza.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Yeah, both put on weight aspect? Why not? Right? Okay,
- 3:33Speaker 1: So now you haven't actually been back to work yet,
- 3:35Speaker 1: have you? No?
- 3:36Speaker 4: Not yet?
- 3:37Speaker 1: When'd you go back? I go back on Monday, Monday?
- 3:39Speaker 1: What about you? Josh?
- 3:40Speaker 3: On Tuesday?
- 3:41Speaker 1: Tuesday? Yeah? Yeah, Because you both worked for somewhere called
- 3:44Speaker 1: what's it called?
- 3:45Speaker 4: What's it called?
- 3:45Speaker 2: Yeah tunnel, Yes, and a place where I spent twenty
- 3:50Speaker 2: seven years.
- 3:51Speaker 1: So is anybody from Eurotunnel listeningly? In good morning?
- 3:54Speaker 2: So let me think because I speak about euro Tunnel
- 3:57Speaker 2: and people think that it's like a secret site and
- 4:00Speaker 2: we're all code breakers because we've got Empty four, we've
- 4:03Speaker 2: got Empty five, we've got U sixty three, we've got
- 4:06Speaker 2: U ninety one and so on, And people said, what
- 4:09Speaker 2: are they talking about?
- 4:10Speaker 1: Where do they work? Is it top secret?
- 4:12Speaker 2: Anyway, we're here today to talk about your strong women
- 4:15Speaker 2: competition at Beth. But let's find out a little bit
- 4:18Speaker 2: about yourself.
- 4:19Speaker 1: I mean you local girl. Do you go to school locally?
- 4:21Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 4:21Speaker 4: I've come from folks then as well.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Yeah, where'd you go to school in?
- 4:25Speaker 4: I went to brock Hill?
- 4:26Speaker 2: Yeah, old brock Hill. Oh, two of my children went
- 4:29Speaker 2: to brock Hill. That's kind of a I always think
- 4:31Speaker 2: it was a bit of an outdoor school, isn't it.
- 4:33Speaker 2: They still all You wouldn't know. But they used to
- 4:35Speaker 2: have a farm there, didn't they.
- 4:36Speaker 4: I thought they still did.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know.
- 4:39Speaker 2: I haven't it to the contrary, but yeah, I remember
- 4:41Speaker 2: the farm and I remember like open evenings going to
- 4:46Speaker 2: see the farm, and I remember looking at all the animals.
- 4:49Speaker 2: They all have these spotlights on them, and I thought, oh,
- 4:51Speaker 2: well they look really well kept.
- 4:53Speaker 1: They're so smart.
- 4:54Speaker 2: And my son said to me, he said, come round
- 4:56Speaker 2: the back, Come round the back, and he pulled his
- 4:58Speaker 2: curtain back and there was a load of lots chickens
- 5:00Speaker 2: with one leg and walky eyes and there. He said
- 5:02Speaker 2: that we don't bring them out to show them public.
- 5:05Speaker 2: So there was Brockhill. They even in my running days
- 5:10Speaker 2: we used to have like a grass running track. Did
- 5:12Speaker 2: you like sport at school?
- 5:14Speaker 4: Not at school, not particularly overly sporty at school.
- 5:16Speaker 1: So when did this kind of.
- 5:18Speaker 4: Get Probably from college onwards. I owned my own horse
- 5:23Speaker 4: and heavily into horses.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:25Speaker 4: Yeah, and then sadly my horse passed away. That was
- 5:30Speaker 4: twenty twenty two. Yeah, and then from then you tried
- 5:35Speaker 4: something else. Well I was a bit lost, I would say, yeah,
- 5:38Speaker 4: grief and whatever. Looking after an animal every day for
- 5:43Speaker 4: that amount of time to go into nothing.
- 5:45Speaker 1: Yeah, it's quite a commitment. Horses.
- 5:46Speaker 4: Yeah, and I was a bit lost. And that's when
- 5:48Speaker 4: Josh said, Josh was already going to the gym. Josh
- 5:51Speaker 4: has been a gym goer for quite a few years.
- 5:54Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, And he said, why don't you just try
- 5:56Speaker 4: the gym. At first I was like, I'll give it
- 6:00Speaker 4: a go.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Oh good.
- 6:01Speaker 4: Yeah, And then that was April twenty twenty three. Yeah,
- 6:08Speaker 4: Josh was at the time was having pet sessions with
- 6:12Speaker 4: Ross Croucher, and he said, why don't you just see
- 6:16Speaker 4: if frost Wall give you some PT sessions. So I
- 6:19Speaker 4: reached out to Ross and yeah.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Gone from there, right, So let's bring you in there, Josh.
- 6:24Speaker 2: So you've been a gym person for a long time,
- 6:25Speaker 2: was you did you like? Where did you go to school?
- 6:27Speaker 1: Was you?
- 6:27Speaker 3: I went to Valley Valley, Yeah, which is now a
- 6:30Speaker 3: turnerably Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 6:32Speaker 1: And I liked sport at school.
- 6:34Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I love sport, did yeah yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 6:36Speaker 3: That was the only thing I was really good at.
- 6:39Speaker 2: We've had so many people in the I've asked that question,
- 6:41Speaker 2: was you good at sport? And they say, no, I
- 6:42Speaker 2: used to go around the back and have a fag,
- 6:44Speaker 2: you know. So so so it was quite easy for
- 6:50Speaker 2: you then to go from school to the next level
- 6:53Speaker 2: and then join a gym with there any sort of
- 6:54Speaker 2: fear Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, And where where's the
- 6:56Speaker 2: gym which you go to?
- 6:57Speaker 3: So we go to the sweatbox right in part farm, okay,
- 7:01Speaker 3: behind McDonald's.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah yeah right. And do you do you
- 7:06Speaker 1: go into competitions or you just do it to keep yourself.
- 7:08Speaker 3: I've done one competition, yeah, with Alistairs.
- 7:13Speaker 1: The other day, Alistair Griggs.
- 7:15Speaker 2: Alistair is a former guest of the show, and to
- 7:17Speaker 2: be honest, I must get him back in because we
- 7:20Speaker 2: had him in a couple of years ago and he
- 7:21Speaker 2: was kind of building up is if you like, it's
- 7:23Speaker 2: a business. But he has gone from strength to strength
- 7:27Speaker 2: and he's the one I do believe best that put
- 7:29Speaker 2: on this competition.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Is that right? Yes?
- 7:32Speaker 4: Yeah, I've been to both both his competitions too that
- 7:35Speaker 4: you've done. He's actually done three, hasn't he? Yeah?
- 7:38Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, So you know we're we're come on to
- 7:41Speaker 2: the competition in a minute. But I still like to
- 7:43Speaker 2: find out a bit about you. So, so, Josh, was
- 7:46Speaker 2: you a hawky person at all?
- 7:48Speaker 1: No?
- 7:48Speaker 3: No, it's definitely not.
- 7:49Speaker 1: No, you didn't like mucking out or anything.
- 7:51Speaker 3: I think I did it when my first go with Beth. Yeah,
- 7:54Speaker 3: a bit of yeah, yeah that slowly, Yeah.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Okay, I mean horses.
- 8:01Speaker 2: Actually was it just for your own pleasure or did
- 8:04Speaker 2: you go into any show?
- 8:05Speaker 1: Was it any competitive or I used.
- 8:07Speaker 4: To actually work with horses as well. That was straight
- 8:12Speaker 4: after college. I used to work at a riding stables,
- 8:16Speaker 4: Brave Side Equestrian, and then then I ended up taking
- 8:22Speaker 4: ownership of Percy whose owner died. So then yeah, just.
- 8:28Speaker 2: So yeah, okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, all right, okay, So
- 8:33Speaker 2: well we're gonna have a little music break now and
- 8:36Speaker 2: we've got this track lined up. So this one is
- 8:39Speaker 2: quite suitable actually because we're going to talk about your competition,
- 8:42Speaker 2: but it's a group you particularly like.
- 8:44Speaker 1: Then, BEV tell us about that. Do you when you're training,
- 8:47Speaker 1: do you train some music all the time? Do you?
- 8:49Speaker 4: Yeah? Definitely definitely helps with a heavy lift it I
- 8:53Speaker 4: think motivational.
- 8:55Speaker 1: And what's what's this one? I mean, well you know
- 8:58Speaker 1: what's coming up, But is this one of your favorite ones?
- 9:00Speaker 2: Yeah, it's quite suitable for a competition because from what
- 9:05Speaker 2: I found out, you have to do competitions in various stages.
- 9:08Speaker 1: So this is for you.
- 9:09Speaker 2: Beth and all the people down at the Sweatbox gym.
- 9:13Speaker 2: I hope you're listening in and if not, you can
- 9:14Speaker 2: catch you up on the podcast later on.
- 9:16Speaker 1: This is Queen and another one Bites the Dust.
- 9:32Speaker 2: From nineteen eighty another one by It's the Dust, and
- 9:34Speaker 2: that's the sort of music that BEF's listens to when
- 9:37Speaker 2: she's training. In fact, I can't stop, but she's been
- 9:39Speaker 2: moving all the furniture around, moving chairs, moving tables. Get
- 9:42Speaker 2: sit down, Beth, for goodness sake, right okay, Bef, Now, okay,
- 9:46Speaker 2: So you've joined this gym, and so we're going to
- 9:49Speaker 2: take a little journey through the next stage of your.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Physical training or whatever.
- 9:56Speaker 2: You were perhaps a little bit what can I say,
- 9:59Speaker 2: a bit daunted by the gym, but you got into
- 10:01Speaker 2: it and you got to feel comfortable and then you
- 10:05Speaker 2: start working out. And then is that when people suggested
- 10:09Speaker 2: strong women competition or did you know Alistair before and
- 10:12Speaker 2: you thought, oh, there's something I might like to try it.
- 10:15Speaker 4: No, I didn't. I didn't know Alistair at the time,
- 10:18Speaker 4: and it was basically at the beginning of my training,
- 10:21Speaker 4: it was just strength training to lose weight for our
- 10:25Speaker 4: up and coming wedding at the time, and then after
- 10:28Speaker 4: the wedding I worked towards that and then there was
- 10:32Speaker 4: nothing then to work towards.
- 10:33Speaker 1: Again picked out you needed another Yeah, it.
- 10:37Speaker 4: Was like another challenge. I suppose and Ross and Jason
- 10:41Speaker 4: at Sweatbox they're already strong strong men as well, and
- 10:44Speaker 4: they compete, have competed in it, and Josh was training
- 10:47Speaker 4: in it at the time as well, so I thought, oh,
- 10:52Speaker 4: I'll just give it a go. And yeah, it looked
- 10:55Speaker 4: it looked fun and it is fun.
- 10:58Speaker 1: It looked fun to me on the.
- 11:02Speaker 2: And so the events themselves, I mean, can you actually train,
- 11:08Speaker 2: do you know what's coming for the events? Have you
- 11:11Speaker 2: got the equipment in the gym that can replicate what
- 11:14Speaker 2: they do on the competition day?
- 11:16Speaker 4: Yeah? So Sweatbox Training and Folks is actually a strong
- 11:19Speaker 4: man gym, so they have so much equipment there, which
- 11:22Speaker 4: is really helpful for my training, especially when when you're
- 11:25Speaker 4: training for these competitions. Right, So, yeah, you can get
- 11:29Speaker 4: your hands on all the strong man kit and practice
- 11:32Speaker 4: before you go. Right.
- 11:34Speaker 2: So, Josh, coming over to you, when you go to
- 11:37Speaker 2: the gym, do you try this strong man stuff or
- 11:39Speaker 2: do you kind of do your own thing?
- 11:41Speaker 3: Yeah? We do it together, do you?
- 11:42Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 11:43Speaker 1: Right?
- 11:44Speaker 2: So you if you're like you're kind of apart from
- 11:47Speaker 2: being best husband, you're a bit of a personal coach.
- 11:50Speaker 2: You're the one that gives her a kick out of
- 11:51Speaker 2: the back.
- 11:52Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, pressure. She's got our personal trainer as well,
- 11:55Speaker 3: but yeah that's online, so I'm there to pressure in person.
- 12:00Speaker 2: So competition, so you've got all this equipment to train
- 12:03Speaker 2: in the gym. Do you know what's coming up in
- 12:06Speaker 2: the competition?
- 12:07Speaker 1: That? Does you know?
- 12:08Speaker 2: On competition? They could it be different or yeah, did
- 12:11Speaker 2: they tell you beforehand? This is what's coming up?
- 12:13Speaker 4: So when you when you sign up to these competitions,
- 12:17Speaker 4: you get a list of what what's going to be
- 12:20Speaker 4: there so you can then.
- 12:24Speaker 1: Yeah, right, so how many disciplines are there? In strong
- 12:29Speaker 1: strong men or about the strong strong women?
- 12:34Speaker 4: So there's usually five categories, some some competitions are slightly
- 12:37Speaker 4: different and that that's that's what I like about it.
- 12:40Speaker 2: Okay, let's focus on Alistairs competition. You knew what was
- 12:43Speaker 2: coming up, so describe. I mean, I've seen the video
- 12:47Speaker 2: of you on the day, which was brilliant.
- 12:49Speaker 1: I loved it. It was really good.
- 12:50Speaker 2: So what do to you, Josh for taking that? But
- 12:54Speaker 2: there are some strange bits of equipment they got names,
- 12:58Speaker 2: so you knew what was coming up, right, discipline number one.
- 13:00Speaker 1: What was that?
- 13:01Speaker 4: That was axel deadlift?
- 13:03Speaker 1: Axleed dead.
- 13:06Speaker 2: It's just like picking up a weight and lifting it
- 13:08Speaker 2: above a.
- 13:09Speaker 4: Certain It's an axle bar on the floor loaded with
- 13:13Speaker 4: weight and you do a dead lift and so you
- 13:16Speaker 4: basically hold it and to stand up with it.
- 13:18Speaker 1: So do you do it over a period of time?
- 13:20Speaker 4: You don't just do one like, No, it's as many
- 13:23Speaker 4: reps in sixty seconds.
- 13:26Speaker 1: Sixty seconds with a.
- 13:27Speaker 3: Judge, with a judge giving you a downpour, So you
- 13:31Speaker 3: can't just bounce it. I think on that one it
- 13:33Speaker 3: had to stay on the floor and then they's say
- 13:35Speaker 3: put it up.
- 13:36Speaker 1: Yeah, I'll see the judges looking closely.
- 13:38Speaker 3: And the axle is a lot thicker bar than the
- 13:41Speaker 3: normal Olympic bar, so it's harder to grip.
- 13:44Speaker 2: Yeah, So as many as you can in sixty seconds. Yeah,
- 13:48Speaker 2: and do you move straight onto the next discipline?
- 13:50Speaker 4: No, So everyone has to complete that that particular move first.
- 13:55Speaker 4: I think Alistair had quite a lot of people there,
- 13:57Speaker 4: There was a hundreds.
- 13:59Speaker 3: So yeah, obviously there's different categories, but yes, yes, then
- 14:03Speaker 3: once everyone's completed that they move on to the next event.
- 14:05Speaker 3: They've got to set it up.
- 14:07Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 14:09Speaker 2: So how I mean, if there's one hundred people, did
- 14:11Speaker 2: they do three at a time, like three sets of judges?
- 14:14Speaker 4: I think there was six six time.
- 14:16Speaker 3: Yeah, yeh we's got loads of different judges.
- 14:20Speaker 4: Yeah, and they call you out yeah right, yeah.
- 14:23Speaker 2: Okay, So so if you're first, you get it out
- 14:28Speaker 2: of the way, then you might have a long wait
- 14:29Speaker 2: anyway because there's all the others got to go on.
- 14:31Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, okay, So next event number two was next?
- 14:35Speaker 4: Was it the loading medley?
- 14:37Speaker 1: Loading medley?
- 14:39Speaker 4: No, I'm getting an it doesn't matter.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Just remind us because.
- 14:44Speaker 4: There was a slight because it rained on the day.
- 14:46Speaker 4: So we were supposed to do the god.
- 14:48Speaker 1: In a gym or anything outside.
- 14:50Speaker 4: Ok yeah, because we were supposed to do the carpool
- 14:54Speaker 4: at some time, but the grass was still wet, So
- 14:56Speaker 4: we did that later, didn't we the carpool?
- 14:58Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 14:59Speaker 1: Well that separately.
- 15:00Speaker 2: Yeah, so let's talk about the carpool?
- 15:05Speaker 1: So what it sounds obvious?
- 15:07Speaker 2: And have you seen it on the on the strong
- 15:09Speaker 2: Man competitions where they're pulling a lottery and the h
- 15:13Speaker 2: you didn't pull one of those days?
- 15:14Speaker 4: No, it was a minibus though, was it?
- 15:17Speaker 1: Yeah? Right, I'm not I'm.
- 15:18Speaker 4: Not sure, but I think it was two tons, was it? Yeah?
- 15:22Speaker 1: Do you actually pull it from a dead lift zero?
- 15:25Speaker 3: You know?
- 15:25Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah, and you're in a harness and yeah,
- 15:30Speaker 4: you just have to pull it a certain distance and
- 15:33Speaker 4: you have sixty seconds to get to this distance.
- 15:35Speaker 2: Oh I see, yeah yeah, so if you get sixty
- 15:38Speaker 2: if you get there in sixty seconds, you get your
- 15:40Speaker 2: maximum points. Yeah, okay, so that's two events, three more
- 15:44Speaker 2: to go.
- 15:45Speaker 4: Yeah. The other one was the yolk carry and the
- 15:49Speaker 4: duck walk the duk.
- 15:51Speaker 2: Yeah, right now, to the uninitiated like myself and half
- 15:54Speaker 2: a folkuston tell us about the duck walk.
- 15:57Speaker 4: So it's it's basically some bumper play. It's loaded onto
- 16:02Speaker 4: a handle and you just have to walk or run
- 16:06Speaker 4: as fast as you can. But it's very very awkward
- 16:09Speaker 4: and you end up running like a.
- 16:10Speaker 2: D oh dear. And so the distance havew far you've
- 16:16Speaker 2: got to go? Is it like one long distance or
- 16:19Speaker 2: you got up and down?
- 16:20Speaker 4: So this one I think was with the yolk carry.
- 16:23Speaker 4: So we had to carry a yoke which is something
- 16:28Speaker 4: over your bah and you have to carry that for
- 16:31Speaker 4: ten meters then bring the duck duck walk back. Then
- 16:36Speaker 4: you have to run back to get the yoke, bring
- 16:38Speaker 4: that back, and then bring the duck walk. Yeah, sound tough,
- 16:41Speaker 4: and I think you had sixty seconds to do that
- 16:43Speaker 4: as well.
- 16:44Speaker 1: Done.
- 16:45Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, so that's free down. We got two more
- 16:49Speaker 2: to go. There was a mystery event.
- 16:52Speaker 4: Yes, so the mystery event you don't actually get to know,
- 16:55Speaker 4: so you can train for all the other four events,
- 16:59Speaker 4: but the mystery event you don't know till the night before.
- 17:02Speaker 4: So this one was a loading event, and that was
- 17:05Speaker 4: a sound bag onto a platform and you had to
- 17:07Speaker 4: get as many reps as you can again in sixty seconds.
- 17:10Speaker 2: Okay, so sandbag what from the floor onto the platform
- 17:14Speaker 2: and they're back onto the floor.
- 17:15Speaker 4: Back to the floor and as many but you you
- 17:17Speaker 4: have to have your hands off, hands off the top
- 17:20Speaker 4: at the top to get to get the rep.
- 17:22Speaker 2: Right, So you take it, you grab it, you put
- 17:25Speaker 2: it on a table. I suppose you've got to take
- 17:27Speaker 2: your hands off, yeah, put your hands back on and
- 17:29Speaker 2: put it back on the floor. Rightah, once again a minute.
- 17:32Speaker 2: So it's also seems everything focuses around this minute.
- 17:34Speaker 3: Yeah. Normally normally sixty seconds ye, or it would be
- 17:37Speaker 3: long longest distance. Yeah.
- 17:40Speaker 1: Right, So that was the mystery event, wasn't it?
- 17:44Speaker 4: That was the mystery event.
- 17:45Speaker 1: We've got one one lift to do.
- 17:48Speaker 3: Can you remember it?
- 17:49Speaker 4: No, my mind's gone blank, is it?
- 17:52Speaker 1: Okay? I'll tell you what we do.
- 17:54Speaker 2: Then we play another bit of bit of music and
- 17:56Speaker 2: we have a little chat or fear and I expectrum
- 18:00Speaker 2: before put all the furniture back into place it before
- 18:03Speaker 2: she moved it last time. And then we work out
- 18:05Speaker 2: and come back to what the fifth event was. So
- 18:07Speaker 2: this is another song. Do you like training into this one?
- 18:09Speaker 2: This is a bit of a.
- 18:10Speaker 4: Bruce Yes, I love this one.
- 18:12Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, okay, Well this is for bef and well
- 18:15Speaker 2: we'll dedicate this one to everyone at Euratana if you're
- 18:17Speaker 2: listening in and of course the sweatbooks. And this is
- 18:20Speaker 2: Dancing in the Dark Bruce Springsteen. There go Bruce Springsteen
- 18:39Speaker 2: in nineteen eighty four.
- 18:41Speaker 1: And best being umping.
- 18:42Speaker 2: I'm pumping and I don't know I'm trying to move
- 18:45Speaker 2: off Ucheria.
- 18:47Speaker 1: It's okay.
- 18:48Speaker 2: So, yeah, of the mind went blank, but as soon
- 18:51Speaker 2: as we had a little chat, boom, it came straight
- 18:53Speaker 2: back to us.
- 18:53Speaker 1: So the mystery event, what's that one called? Then?
- 18:56Speaker 4: This one wasn't the mystery event event?
- 18:58Speaker 1: It's the mystery to me because.
- 19:01Speaker 4: It was a hoosafel carry for max max distance hooseil.
- 19:05Speaker 2: Was it a chap that invented it or something or
- 19:08Speaker 2: don't you know, I don't expect you to know that either,
- 19:12Speaker 2: but so describe what it is.
- 19:14Speaker 4: So it's a it's a big sandbag and you have
- 19:17Speaker 4: to carry it in your arms for max distance. So
- 19:20Speaker 4: you're just walking backwards and forwards for ten meters and
- 19:23Speaker 4: you have sixty seconds again to see how.
- 19:26Speaker 1: Far how far you can go and go yeah yeah, right, okay,
- 19:29Speaker 1: And now the logistics of I mean to me, I
- 19:34Speaker 1: thought it was just a little a little get together
- 19:36Speaker 1: of a few strong people. But you said there was
- 19:38Speaker 1: one hundred people.
- 19:39Speaker 4: Yeah, I think it was over one hundred.
- 19:41Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. So they travel in they must travel in
- 19:43Speaker 1: from far and yeah yeah, all right.
- 19:48Speaker 2: Now that's another point. Now grading, there's obviously different types
- 19:51Speaker 2: of grading.
- 19:52Speaker 1: How does that work?
- 19:53Speaker 4: There is it's usually a weight category and then you
- 19:57Speaker 4: get a experienced cat so you can get novice, beginner's
- 20:03Speaker 4: novice intermediate, and then so on and so on.
- 20:07Speaker 2: Right, okay, so that that makes it fair that you're
- 20:10Speaker 2: competing against people about about the same.
- 20:14Speaker 1: Experience or strength as other people.
- 20:17Speaker 4: So you're against people that are a similar similar to you.
- 20:21Speaker 2: Yeah. So you've done two competitions, both down at.
- 20:25Speaker 4: Pale Marsh, Yeah, both down at Powers.
- 20:29Speaker 1: You tell me that you've got a third one coming.
- 20:31Speaker 4: Up, Yes, got a third one in August, and that's
- 20:34Speaker 4: Hampshire's Hampshire.
- 20:36Speaker 1: So that is that that's a different level.
- 20:37Speaker 4: Yeah, this is still novice so because I've gone upper
- 20:42Speaker 4: category this year, so I'm in a novice category.
- 20:45Speaker 1: Yeah, so have you you've actually entered it?
- 20:47Speaker 4: Yep entered right?
- 20:49Speaker 2: And so do you know the four events? Is this
- 20:54Speaker 2: mystery event? Is that sort of common throughout the whole No.
- 20:58Speaker 4: I think that's just the he hosts twists. So Ali
- 21:02Speaker 4: has that twist on his events, but you don't get
- 21:06Speaker 4: that everywhere you go.
- 21:07Speaker 1: No, So do you know what five events?
- 21:09Speaker 4: You've got to know what five events?
- 21:10Speaker 2: So we've spoken about four of them, so there must
- 21:13Speaker 2: be one more. Uh, that's because you've got had a
- 21:17Speaker 2: mystery event. What's the extra event?
- 21:21Speaker 1: You know?
- 21:22Speaker 4: For for the for the Confidence, for the Hampshire. I
- 21:24Speaker 4: know all of them from because they don't have a
- 21:26Speaker 4: mystery event on.
- 21:27Speaker 1: This side, so they tell us what they are so
- 21:30Speaker 1: I've got.
- 21:30Speaker 4: Axel clean and press, so that's a bit different to
- 21:33Speaker 4: the lift. It's the same bar, but the weight is
- 21:36Speaker 4: going over my head.
- 21:38Speaker 1: It's a bit more of a power lift.
- 21:39Speaker 4: Yeah, and that's a timed, timed one as well. Then
- 21:44Speaker 4: I've got a deficit axle dead lift, so that means
- 21:48Speaker 4: that my feet are raised off the floor. And then
- 21:51Speaker 4: I've got a dead lift the bar, so it's it's
- 21:54Speaker 4: slightly harder. I've got a shield carry so some of
- 21:58Speaker 4: these I haven't even done, so it's it's new to
- 22:02Speaker 4: me as well. I've got duck walks again into power
- 22:04Speaker 4: stairs and another a stone challenge that's loading some stones
- 22:13Speaker 4: onto a platform. Again, so that's that one I have
- 22:15Speaker 4: done because that's so to Alie's one.
- 22:17Speaker 2: So I mean, is the equipment for all these events available?
- 22:21Speaker 1: I put sweatbox?
- 22:23Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, most of them. Yeah, actually all of them.
- 22:26Speaker 3: We have got sweatbox.
- 22:28Speaker 2: So you keep an eye on beffin her training. Would
- 22:32Speaker 2: you say there's any particular event that you need to
- 22:35Speaker 2: work on. I mean, to all sports, you kind of
- 22:37Speaker 2: got your you're elite, not your elite, but you're you're
- 22:40Speaker 2: comfortable with and others you might struggle with So can
- 22:43Speaker 2: you advise advise before does she just tell you shut up?
- 22:47Speaker 3: Oh yeah, she tells me to shut up all the time, so.
- 22:50Speaker 1: That you're not my trainer.
- 22:52Speaker 3: Exactly what she said.
- 22:55Speaker 1: What's it like living with a strong woman in?
- 22:56Speaker 2: I mean doing all the jobs around the house, Like
- 22:59Speaker 2: I mean, if there's any patio slabs to be moved,
- 23:01Speaker 2: you go get bed to.
- 23:02Speaker 3: Do help me do everything.
- 23:04Speaker 1: Yeah, you just want to change your will? Could you
- 23:06Speaker 1: hold the car up for a little so, haven't you?
- 23:11Speaker 2: I mean that apart from the venue and everything else,
- 23:15Speaker 2: that's going to be a little bit out of your
- 23:16Speaker 2: comfort zone. And because you know, I know Alistair is
- 23:19Speaker 2: very sort of cozy to everybody. But do you know
- 23:23Speaker 2: of anybody else that's going down there or will you
- 23:25Speaker 2: be sort of totally on your own?
- 23:27Speaker 4: Yeah, so I'm my personal trainer now Sam Grove, he's
- 23:31Speaker 4: got I'm part of the Lifting Academy, So shout out.
- 23:34Speaker 1: To the academy. Well we'll too you.
- 23:36Speaker 2: We've had some academies and mentioned in here, but I've
- 23:39Speaker 2: never heardered that one. So that's obviously it's just specialists
- 23:42Speaker 2: and all these events all the time.
- 23:43Speaker 4: Yeah, So he specializes in strong man training and we're
- 23:47Speaker 4: all part of a community. We have a WhatsApp group
- 23:50Speaker 4: and yeah, it's just a great community to be a
- 23:53Speaker 4: part of.
- 23:53Speaker 1: Oh excellent.
- 23:55Speaker 4: So I'm sure there'll be a lot of them coming
- 23:58Speaker 4: down as well.
- 23:58Speaker 1: Yeah, so that sounds like a weekend away, is it. Yeah,
- 24:02Speaker 1: booked your hotel.
- 24:03Speaker 4: Yeah, booked a hotel overnight's day.
- 24:06Speaker 2: Yet now just on the sort of a technical sort
- 24:11Speaker 2: of thing, so you're now into your competitions, so as
- 24:16Speaker 2: as your lifestyle change, like your diet and what you watch,
- 24:20Speaker 2: what you eat.
- 24:20Speaker 1: And you know that sort of thing.
- 24:22Speaker 4: Yeah, it's really it's obviously really important to as well
- 24:26Speaker 4: as training is to get the rest. The rest is
- 24:28Speaker 4: so important as well, and eating wise. I think everyone
- 24:33Speaker 4: that knows me will know how much I go on
- 24:35Speaker 4: about protein. So yeah, eating protein, but then and still
- 24:39Speaker 4: enjoying treats. As as we said, we went on holiday
- 24:42Speaker 4: and we had loads of past the loads of pizza.
- 24:45Speaker 4: So it's everything in moderation.
- 24:48Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah take up lifting there.
- 24:53Speaker 2: But yeah, I mean, if you want to do well,
- 24:56Speaker 2: you don't have to win trophies, but for your own discipline,
- 24:58Speaker 2: then you've you've got put yourself into it, haven't you.
- 25:01Speaker 4: Yeah, you know.
- 25:01Speaker 1: I mean, I know, I used to play football and
- 25:04Speaker 1: I've run.
- 25:05Speaker 2: I've run three marathons, right, and training for a marathon
- 25:08Speaker 2: is like six months out of your life.
- 25:10Speaker 3: So but and.
- 25:14Speaker 2: For me personally, when I was training for a marathon,
- 25:16Speaker 2: doesn't matter how hard I trained, I was never going
- 25:18Speaker 2: to get any faster. But I just add the first
- 25:21Speaker 2: marathon I ever did back in the eighties, I felt
- 25:24Speaker 2: like Superman. I felt like I could run through.
- 25:26Speaker 1: A brick wall. I really did. I just boosted up
- 25:28Speaker 1: my confidence so much, which is my Does that do
- 25:31Speaker 1: it for you? You kind of got more self esteem?
- 25:33Speaker 4: Oh? Definitely. Yeah, it's the gym in general. It's not
- 25:37Speaker 4: just the strong woman part of it. It just gives
- 25:40Speaker 4: you that confidence and the resilience as well.
- 25:44Speaker 1: Yeah. Great, okay, so time for a bit of music again.
- 25:47Speaker 2: Now this is going to we've got to chill things
- 25:49Speaker 2: down a bit, not going to play any pumping, but
- 25:52Speaker 2: we want to sit quietly through this one. But I
- 25:55Speaker 2: do love this song, well I did. Actually I put
- 25:57Speaker 2: the word lifted in the in the playlist and this
- 26:01Speaker 2: one come up. It's a lovely, soft little song from
- 26:03Speaker 2: nineteen ninety five. It's the Lighthouse Family and lifted.
- 26:26Speaker 1: There we go.
- 26:26Speaker 2: I'll tell you what I love Lighthouse Family. I don't
- 26:29Speaker 2: think this radio station plays him enough. And I'm going
- 26:32Speaker 2: to make a little, a little concerted effort to play
- 26:35Speaker 2: some more Lighthouse Family.
- 26:38Speaker 3: Right.
- 26:38Speaker 2: Okay, Now we were talking off here and they josh,
- 26:41Speaker 2: you you've got well, I didn't realize you've got quite
- 26:43Speaker 2: a sporting experienced background.
- 26:47Speaker 1: So tell us briefly about that.
- 26:48Speaker 2: But then we were going to turn attentions to the
- 26:52Speaker 2: technique and perhaps the misconceptions of strong women.
- 26:56Speaker 1: So tell us you were at the sports center for
- 26:58Speaker 1: a long time.
- 26:58Speaker 3: So yeah, I left school at fifteen or sixteen, and
- 27:02Speaker 3: then I was at the sports center for nine years.
- 27:05Speaker 3: At first I was just giving out equipment and setting
- 27:09Speaker 3: up equipment like trampolines and that, and then I got
- 27:11Speaker 3: an apprenticeship to be a sports coach leader and I
- 27:16Speaker 3: did that for two years and we went out to
- 27:18Speaker 3: primary schools and delivered sports sessions. That was really fun. Yeah,
- 27:23Speaker 3: And are you.
- 27:25Speaker 2: Saying that I've just got to remind everybody that I've
- 27:28Speaker 2: got another job. You're saying about me being retired and
- 27:31Speaker 2: taking it easy, Well, there there's no chance for that.
- 27:34Speaker 1: I think it's on Wednesday or Thursday.
- 27:36Speaker 2: You've got to check the diary. I've got to compare
- 27:38Speaker 2: the district sports down at the Three Hills Running Track.
- 27:43Speaker 2: This must be about the fifth or sixth year I've
- 27:46Speaker 2: done it. But for like two hours it is crazy.
- 27:49Speaker 2: There's like three hundred children and they come from all
- 27:52Speaker 2: over the district, you know, and it's trying to get back,
- 27:56Speaker 2: get back, you know, they're stepping onto the track when
- 27:58Speaker 2: the runners are coming around to ben. Oh, but it
- 28:00Speaker 2: is so much fun that I do love it anyway,
- 28:03Speaker 2: So digressing as normal. So the point we were talking
- 28:07Speaker 2: about off there is a very good point you wanted
- 28:10Speaker 2: to make, Josh, is about the misconceptions of strong women.
- 28:14Speaker 1: Competitions have gone.
- 28:16Speaker 3: Yeah, the difference between strong women or strong man to
- 28:20Speaker 3: a bodybuilding is a strong man or strong women were
- 28:23Speaker 3: just they're trying to get the weight from A to
- 28:26Speaker 3: B as quickly as possible, and bodybuilding is more keeping
- 28:30Speaker 3: the muscle under tension and contracting it slowly so it
- 28:33Speaker 3: can grow. So that that's why I would say the difference.
- 28:36Speaker 2: Is because I've known Beth a long time and when
- 28:41Speaker 2: I expected it to come in, I expected her to
- 28:43Speaker 2: be rippling with muscles. But you're no different to what
- 28:49Speaker 2: I remember you as I work with Beth and Josh
- 28:52Speaker 2: for many years at your tunnel and we all wear
- 28:55Speaker 2: big bagger uniforms and stuff. But you know exactly as
- 28:58Speaker 2: what I was had this picture in my mind. Oh
- 29:00Speaker 2: my dear goodness, when when Beth comes in, she's going
- 29:02Speaker 2: to be like about four foot wide now and bulging
- 29:06Speaker 2: with muscles. But so obviously your pizek has changed because
- 29:10Speaker 2: you wanted to lose weight for your wedding. But would
- 29:13Speaker 2: you agree with with Josh there that the misconception about
- 29:16Speaker 2: this strong women, because I must admit I just didn't
- 29:18Speaker 2: imagine you being in a strong woman competition.
- 29:22Speaker 4: Yeah, this is this is what people get wrong about
- 29:25Speaker 4: strong man or strong women. People often think it's just
- 29:28Speaker 4: about being big and lifting heavy things, but it's actually
- 29:31Speaker 4: about technique, determination and consistency as well.
- 29:35Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, so, but obviously there's a lot of dedication
- 29:40Speaker 2: got to go into it. So right, you've just come
- 29:45Speaker 2: back a holiday, you've got I mean we're being to
- 29:48Speaker 2: July in a couple of days time, you've got a competition.
- 29:51Speaker 1: When's it in August? When the end of August? So
- 29:56Speaker 1: do you start into training gently building up again.
- 30:00Speaker 4: No, I'll just go straight straight back in, straight back
- 30:03Speaker 4: in on Monday.
- 30:04Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, yeah, yeah, right.
- 30:08Speaker 2: Now, we really don't want to go and leave the
- 30:11Speaker 2: show without if there's any hellos and thank you, And
- 30:14Speaker 2: I think it's really important because you've.
- 30:18Speaker 1: Both come in. You've come in as a team to
- 30:19Speaker 1: be fair and I love that.
- 30:21Speaker 2: And this is community radio, and this is the first time,
- 30:27Speaker 2: to be honest, I'll picking myself up there. It might
- 30:29Speaker 2: be the second time because I've had alistair in before
- 30:32Speaker 2: talking about his competition, but I've never never spoke about
- 30:36Speaker 2: a strong woman competition, so this has been the first
- 30:38Speaker 2: for me. It's community radio. We're sharing this story with
- 30:41Speaker 2: all the folks then, and I just want to thank
- 30:43Speaker 2: you both for coming in. But behind every team and
- 30:48Speaker 2: your things you do, you work out, there's got to
- 30:51Speaker 2: be people behind the scenes that you couldn't do without.
- 30:54Speaker 2: So who comes into that category, Well, I.
- 30:58Speaker 4: Think the biggest person is sitting right next do you.
- 31:00Speaker 4: So a big shout out to Josh for the help
- 31:04Speaker 4: in the training as well. Yeah, and the gym that
- 31:07Speaker 4: we train out because if we didn't have sweatbox training
- 31:10Speaker 4: and all the strong strong man kit and stuff to
- 31:12Speaker 4: get out where would where would we go to get
- 31:16Speaker 4: our hands on that? So a big shout out to
- 31:18Speaker 4: Sweatbox and Ross and Jason that run run Sweatbox and
- 31:24Speaker 4: my pt as well Sam Groves and the whole of
- 31:27Speaker 4: the Lift Lifting Academy.
- 31:29Speaker 1: Well brilliant, okay, And I mean, do you do your
- 31:32Speaker 1: people at work here a tunnel? Do they do you?
- 31:36Speaker 1: Kind of.
- 31:38Speaker 2: When I was running marathons, I was a marathon boar,
- 31:40Speaker 2: you know, to tell everyone, Oh, I did fifteen miles
- 31:42Speaker 2: last night, I did twenty miles And do.
- 31:44Speaker 1: You do that? Oruld you kind of keep it in
- 31:45Speaker 1: here and I don't.
- 31:47Speaker 4: I don't really say much, but when when I do
- 31:50Speaker 4: say the odd thing, people do sort of look at
- 31:53Speaker 4: me a bit like you really.
- 31:58Speaker 1: Great?
- 32:00Speaker 2: Right, So we're gonna We've got one more song for
- 32:02Speaker 2: the moment. This time is running away with us. Then
- 32:05Speaker 2: I want to do one little read out that I
- 32:08Speaker 2: think is very important. I should do it today and
- 32:11Speaker 2: you'll find out in a minute. And then we're going
- 32:12Speaker 2: to come back to Bef and Josh. So this is
- 32:15Speaker 2: another song about being strong. There's another gentle song. This
- 32:19Speaker 2: is labby Siffrey. Something Inside So Strong, Okay, we're going
- 32:45Speaker 2: to cut that one shot. That's a long song. Actually
- 32:48Speaker 2: it's the nearly five minutes, and back in the sixties
- 32:52Speaker 2: that would have been about three songs. Anyway, I want
- 32:56Speaker 2: to do this and it's poignant for today actually, so yeah,
- 33:00Speaker 2: to bear with me, I'm going to be a bit
- 33:01Speaker 2: of a presenter bore at the moment. But on Monday,
- 33:05Speaker 2: the twenty ninth of June, I'll be reaching a milestone
- 33:08Speaker 2: in my life, my seventy fifth birthday.
- 33:10Speaker 1: So I thought, what can I do?
- 33:12Speaker 2: How about raising money for prostate cancer? I thought, now,
- 33:15Speaker 2: I've done my bit for Cancer Research UK and breast
- 33:18Speaker 2: cancer now, so I decided to promote a prostate cancer.
- 33:22Speaker 3: Now.
- 33:22Speaker 2: I'm not climbing Everest, running an ultra, jumping out of
- 33:25Speaker 2: a plane or anything like that. I'm just having a
- 33:28Speaker 2: milestone birthday and this is me, Kevin Day, having my
- 33:31Speaker 2: milestone birthday on Monday. Then I thought, you know what,
- 33:35Speaker 2: Over the last twenty five years, I've promoted Race for
- 33:38Speaker 2: Life on stage, I've promoted loads of charities, interviewed hundreds
- 33:41Speaker 2: of fundraising guests on my radio folks on sports show,
- 33:44Speaker 2: being a quiz master, an endless amount of quizes for
- 33:47Speaker 2: charity all for other people, so I thought it's my
- 33:50Speaker 2: turn to do some fundraising for a good cause. I've
- 33:53Speaker 2: also compared hundreds of road races for running clubs promoting
- 33:57Speaker 2: their causes. If ever, you've been one of those people
- 34:00Speaker 2: that I've helped called in at a race, then all
- 34:03Speaker 2: I'm asking for is a small donation as a birthday present,
- 34:07Speaker 2: and it will go straight to the Prostate Cancer Charity.
- 34:10Speaker 2: One in eight men will get prostate cancer. All too
- 34:13Speaker 2: often men find out about find out by a complete chance,
- 34:17Speaker 2: and quite often it is too late. So donate today
- 34:20Speaker 2: to help funder research that will improve the odds of
- 34:23Speaker 2: catching prostate cancer earlier, because men's lives shouldn't be left
- 34:27Speaker 2: to chance.
- 34:28Speaker 1: So that was me.
- 34:28Speaker 2: That's something I posted on my just Giving page, So
- 34:31Speaker 2: thanks for reading this together. Lots of small donations make
- 34:34Speaker 2: one big donation. So if you go onto my Facebook page,
- 34:37Speaker 2: you'll find a link there for prostate cancer and if
- 34:41Speaker 2: you can spare it, just just a small donation, and
- 34:44Speaker 2: I'd be so grateful because over the years, I think
- 34:47Speaker 2: I've helped out enough people and I'm just asking for
- 34:50Speaker 2: people to help me. Okay, So that's my little soap
- 34:54Speaker 2: box or just one reminder, please go up to the
- 34:58Speaker 2: band stand today is it's on Forces Day and the
- 35:03Speaker 2: radio Folcus Theon will be up there doing a live broadcast,
- 35:06Speaker 2: and so I just go and see what's going on.
- 35:08Speaker 2: Hopefully the weather's day bright. But they've got a full
- 35:10Speaker 2: program there from ten o'clock. I do believe I've got
- 35:13Speaker 2: a bit of paper here. I can't find you at
- 35:15Speaker 2: the moment.
- 35:16Speaker 1: Oh where it is?
- 35:18Speaker 2: From ten o'clock. All sorts of things. Band of the
- 35:20Speaker 2: gurkhas Arif Cadet Bands. Victoria Bass a singer that I
- 35:25Speaker 2: helped out many years ago and I pointed in the
- 35:28Speaker 2: right direction actually, and she'll tell you about that.
- 35:31Speaker 1: They've got the Singports Lindy Hoppers. Their a vintage dance group.
- 35:34Speaker 1: I've worked with them. They're great. They do with the
- 35:36Speaker 1: old all the old forces dances.
- 35:38Speaker 2: So get along today to the band staying for the
- 35:42Speaker 2: Armed Forces Day, or tune into a radio Folkston later
- 35:45Speaker 2: on during the day. Okay, So now we have got
- 35:48Speaker 2: about four minutes and we're just going to wrap up
- 35:50Speaker 2: the show. But we were talking about mentions, Beth, So
- 35:57Speaker 2: there's one big mention that you want to give now.
- 36:00Speaker 2: I was quite intrigued about the idea of sweatbooks. So
- 36:03Speaker 2: first of all, Josh, just tell me briefly how it works.
- 36:08Speaker 1: Where it is. It's a little bit different to a
- 36:10Speaker 1: normal gym, isn't it.
- 36:11Speaker 3: It's tugged away. He's actually got two gyms. He's got
- 36:14Speaker 3: one gym that you in Cherton that you have to
- 36:17Speaker 3: that's just literally a private gym that you book on
- 36:20Speaker 3: an app and it's just you and the gym. So
- 36:22Speaker 3: that's for people that are nervous being in a public area.
- 36:25Speaker 3: So that's good if you're a first time gym and
- 36:27Speaker 3: you don't want people there. And the second one is
- 36:30Speaker 3: obviously behind McDonald's part farm near Remland Carpets and that one.
- 36:37Speaker 3: They're both twenty four hours. There's a key number to
- 36:41Speaker 3: get your key and then go in. We book on app,
- 36:44Speaker 3: so know how many people are in the gym because
- 36:47Speaker 3: it's not a massive gym.
- 36:49Speaker 1: And yeah, and then you go and work out.
- 36:53Speaker 2: There's been very beneficial for you, hasn't it, especially been
- 36:56Speaker 2: a shift worker. Yeah, So do you have to book
- 36:58Speaker 2: up before you've sort of you might? I mean I
- 37:01Speaker 2: remember sometimes you couldn't wait for a late shift to end.
- 37:04Speaker 2: But when you got home, use wide away, can't you?
- 37:05Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 37:05Speaker 2: Yeah, And you're sort of busting to do stuff. So
- 37:08Speaker 2: you could perhaps go training at eleven o'clock a night.
- 37:12Speaker 4: Yeah, any anytime day or night, or.
- 37:14Speaker 1: You've done a night shift.
- 37:15Speaker 2: I remember when I was, you know, early days, I
- 37:17Speaker 2: did night shift and come sit at four o'clock. You're
- 37:20Speaker 2: clagging a little bit. But you get home, you wide
- 37:22Speaker 2: a wait, you can't sleep, so you could have gone
- 37:24Speaker 2: down the gym, can you?
- 37:25Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 37:25Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 37:26Speaker 2: So what would people look for on the internet. It
- 37:29Speaker 2: seems very unique to folks them this does how can
- 37:32Speaker 2: they get in touch?
- 37:34Speaker 4: So I'd say the best way is on on social
- 37:37Speaker 4: media or just google sweatbox training Folkstone, Yes, and speak
- 37:41Speaker 4: to Ross and Jason. Then if you want to give
- 37:44Speaker 4: sweatbox a go, or even just a bit of strong Man.
- 37:47Speaker 1: Yep, just give it a go. Okay.
- 37:50Speaker 2: So we've learned a lot this morning, people out there
- 37:52Speaker 2: listening in. We've learned that it's the technique is more
- 37:58Speaker 2: important than if you like the shape of your body
- 38:00Speaker 2: about doing strong man all strong women, and it's a
- 38:04Speaker 2: matter of discipline, certainly, But if you feel like a
- 38:08Speaker 2: bit anxious, a bit of anxiety in your life or
- 38:11Speaker 2: you've got a lot of energy to burn up, you
- 38:14Speaker 2: could perhaps go to Sweatbox. All places like Sweatbox. It's
- 38:17Speaker 2: not just sweatbox, but they are specialist for strong men,
- 38:20Speaker 2: strong women, got the stuff there. So if this is
- 38:23Speaker 2: kind of a triggering off a little interest, then just
- 38:26Speaker 2: google Sweatbox folks. So we are really out of time now,
- 38:32Speaker 2: so I just want to thank you Bet for coming
- 38:33Speaker 2: in and wish you good luck in Hampshire in August
- 38:37Speaker 2: and hopefully once you've recovered from that you'll come back
- 38:41Speaker 2: and tell us all about it. And you, Josh, thanks
- 38:44Speaker 2: for being the keeping a cracking a whip and making
- 38:47Speaker 2: sure that missus strong man is doing everything right. And
- 38:50Speaker 2: you've got a great combination and I'm so please you
- 38:52Speaker 2: both come in. This is community radio and this is
- 38:55Speaker 2: what it's all about. So thank you so much, thank you,
- 38:57Speaker 2: thank you. Right, Okay, so what a great morning was
- 39:00Speaker 2: you know, it's is lovely, it's a new sport, it's
- 39:03Speaker 2: community radio, it's putting the word out as promoting local
- 39:07Speaker 2: businesses almost and I'm so grateful for Beth and Josh
- 39:12Speaker 2: coming in.
- 39:13Speaker 1: Well that's it for me for today. Now there's no
- 39:16Speaker 1: sports show for a while now.
- 39:18Speaker 2: I'm not on air Thursday and on Saturday, I'll be
- 39:21Speaker 2: on the MIC at Cancer Research UK's pretty muddy at
- 39:25Speaker 2: Moat Park. I'm on the finish line and I start
- 39:29Speaker 2: off all clean, but I end up totally muddy, where
- 39:31Speaker 2: I'll get all these muddy hugs.
- 39:33Speaker 1: I keep telling them not to do it, but they
- 39:35Speaker 1: do insist.
- 39:36Speaker 2: Anyway, eighty year is not back on air until July
- 39:38Speaker 2: the eleventh, when I'll join him, So keep an eye
- 39:41Speaker 2: on my Facebook posts. If you want to get in touch,
- 39:43Speaker 2: you can drop me a message on my Facebook page.
- 39:46Speaker 2: In the meantime, have a great day.
