- 0:13Hello you guys, Welcome back to another episode of the Hot Girl Energy Podcast.
- 0:17I'm your host, Kaylee, and this is your weekly reminder that it's
- 0:20a new day, a new week, a new mindset, and another day
- 0:24if you had become the Hawk Girl Energy you want to attract. Hello you
- 0:27guys, Happy Tuesday, Welcome back to another episode. I am very excited
- 0:33for today's episode because we have a guest. More so, I forced my
- 0:37sister the coup on this podcast episode today because I'm like, you know,
- 0:41I haven't done an episode with someone in a long time, and I just
- 0:44love like shooting the shit with someone sometimes and just having a conversation about random
- 0:49stuff. And I feel like we were due for an episode. My sister
- 0:52and I we did a few episodes. I think it was last summer,
- 0:55I you were on the podcast, and we talked a lot about like school,
- 0:59school, summer bucket list, all that, and we did a summer
- 1:03bucket list episode a few episodes back. So I was like, I don't
- 1:06really want to focus on that, but we really wanted to talk about just
- 1:08kind of random stuff like girl trips, stuff that we're doing to focus on
- 1:12ourself this summer, as well as just maintaining friendships and relationships. And I
- 1:19feel like we did a question box on our hawkerel Energy Instagram page a few
- 1:23weeks back, and a lot of you actually talked about how to maintain friendships
- 1:27or how to maintain just you know, friendships when you're in a relationship or
- 1:32anything like that. So we thought it'd be a good thing to talk about
- 1:34in today's episode. But yeah, just going to talk about random stuff because
- 1:40why not. But we have some girl trips that we've done and some girl
- 1:46trips that we have coming up. Obviously with the wedding being so soon,
- 1:49guys, we are seven weeks away from the wedding, which is insane,
- 1:53and we'll be doing a wedding update episode hopefully soon, just to give you
- 1:57guys an update on what's all happening within the next few weeks, which is
- 2:00very exciting but very stressful. Not gonna lie, but my sister is obviously
- 2:04my made of honor, and she has been planning the entire bacherette. Yeah,
- 2:08planning a bachelorette is a lot more difficult than I thought it would be,
- 2:13so much time, it's so much energy. Like planning a bacherette is
- 2:17literally like hosting an influencer event. Now, I feel like everybody has this
- 2:21standard now where it's like, oh my god, like we need to get
- 2:23gifts for the girls, We need to figure out outfits and things. So
- 2:27many things that you wouldn't even think about that you need to think about.
- 2:31Yeah, I feel like that's what's well, even the little things like the
- 2:35itinerary and the door takes, and obviously, like we are not trying to
- 2:38make this influencer trip at all. Like I think a lot of people go
- 2:39a little too hardcore and they spend so much money. Which, don't get
- 2:44me wrong. Obviously it's an important trip to have prior to your wedding,
- 2:49but it's also a trip that's not necessary to have before your wedding. You're
- 2:52already spending so much money on a wedding in general, and I don't know,
- 2:57So we decided to kind of keep it. I don't want to say
- 3:00budget friendly, because it's still not budget friendly, but we decided to do
- 3:02it in Italy just because we thought that would be the best case scenario.
- 3:07We're already there exactly, people have already paid their flights, so we're doing
- 3:09just a different part. But you know, Originally we did talk about doing
- 3:13it somewhere in Canada just to keep the costlow and all that, but the
- 3:15girls were like, you know what, I think it'd be more fun to
- 3:17do it in Italy, which, don't get me wrong, I agree,
- 3:22But I don't know. I just think, like as you said, like,
- 3:23I don't think people realize how much work actually has to go into it,
- 3:29Like you think it's just a trip. Yeah, I've been having so
- 3:30much fun with it. Yeah, me and Kayleie's other maide of Honor,
- 3:36Alyssa, we've been planning it so much and we're having a lot of fun
- 3:38doing it. It's just, like I said, all the little things that
- 3:42you wouldn't think about, like, yeah, it's just like a lot of
- 3:45work. But I think what's great is that we're doing things that everybody's on
- 3:49board with, like exactly. It's not like things where I don't want to
- 3:53I'm trying to like not give it away. There's certain things where all the
- 3:54girls were so happy about doing and it's an experience for everybody, right,
- 4:00So I think doing girl trips is fun when everybody can agree to doing those
- 4:04things. Like, I don't know, I think if we did my bacherette,
- 4:08like in Vegas or another spot. Like I feel like some people would
- 4:11be like, I've already done Vegas, Like, well, yeah, am
- 4:13I going? Like, Like, one thing that we are prioritizing for this
- 4:17bachelorette trip is, like you said, if we were to go to Vegas,
- 4:21I feel like it would be more just going out every night. And
- 4:25I think one thing we want to do is more stuff during the day.
- 4:28Yeah, and things like and experiences and all that. I feel like you
- 4:30need to communicate that within your friend group because you want to make sure you
- 4:34guys are all on board by doing the same thing. So if you're planning
- 4:36a girls trip, like figure out where people want to go. You know,
- 4:40have you been to Nashville? No, That's where all my girlfriends want
- 4:43to go. Okay, maybe you guys should be planning a trip around Nashville.
- 4:45I think it's important to get everybody's opinion on what they want to do,
- 4:49and I think that's what we kind of did for the bacherette. Right.
- 4:51There is one thing that we're doing that I'm not going to give away,
- 4:55but that's something that like everybody wanted to do. Everybody wanted to do
- 4:58it, and that's exactly what I I want people to spend the money on
- 5:00stuff that they want to do, not just me, because at the end
- 5:03of the day, it's I want it to be an experience for everybody,
- 5:06and I want it to be a fun trip for everybody. I don't want
- 5:09people to spend all this money on just for me, like you know what
- 5:12I mean. I want it to be a fun experience. So I think
- 5:15that's a key thing when it comes to girl trips. Just also figuring out,
- 5:18like what is everybody comfortable with spending too? Right, that's a very
- 5:23uncomfortable topic to have to be fully transparent, Like Madison's been having to go
- 5:28through a lot of conversations with people to make sure that people are comfortable and
- 5:31spending xyz amount. But I think that also helped us plan it with the
- 5:35Airbnb and again the experiences and all that. So it's just a conversation you
- 5:41have to have. But in order to have these fun trips with your girls,
- 5:44you just kind of have to communicate exactly. Like I think it's important
- 5:48at the beginning before you're planning is to set a budget, asking everybody,
- 5:53Okay, how much are you comfortable? Yeng and That's exactly what I did
- 5:58prior to, you know, planning a bachelorette. I was like, okay,
- 6:00you know, planning activities and stuff like that. I asked everybody,
- 6:03Okay, what are you comfortable with paying? Yeah, and then it's like,
- 6:06when you're searching for things to do, you set that as a limit.
- 6:11Yeah. Websites you can set an amount for like the highest price you
- 6:14want to pay, and you set that that way, you're not even looking
- 6:16at the more expensive options and getting excited about those more expensive options. You
- 6:21just set a limit, Okay, this is how much we're willing to pay,
- 6:26and then you know, you send it over to people and then once
- 6:30everybody agrees, then I think you need to have realistic expectations when it comes
- 6:35to planning either a bacherette or a trip. Because I actually saw or listen
- 6:40sorry to Alex Cooper's podcast episode from Call Her Daddy. She talked about bacherette
- 6:46and bachelotte trips and how they've gotten so out of hand. Yeah, let's
- 6:48go to Greece for the week. Realisticly, a flight is like over a
- 6:53thousand bucks, which is a lot of money for a lot of people.
- 6:56Then you got to consider accommodations, food, all that. So again,
- 7:00I think brides and just people in general need to be cautious of that.
- 7:03And hey, you're telling someone to spend all this money just on a bachelorette
- 7:06trip like that is a lot of money. And because I'm already doing a
- 7:09destination wedding, like, I understand that people are spending a lot of money
- 7:13to come to my wedding, and I'm very grateful that they're coming. I
- 7:15don't even expect gifts or nothing, because for me, that's like I already
- 7:20feel like them coming to the wedding is enough and means a lot to me.
- 7:25So I'm trying to really be grateful for those little things. But I
- 7:28think, yeah, brides really need to just realize how much money it actually
- 7:32is to plan trips like this. And again, I think as long as
- 7:36there's communication involved and everyone's on board and you know, sharing what they're comfortable
- 7:42and spending, and you know, all agree to going to the same spot,
- 7:45it can make it easier to go on trips with your friends and all
- 7:46that, because obviously that's how the memories are made, that's where it's always
- 7:50the best time. My sister and I we did New York City back in
- 7:56November, and then we did a day trip in December. So we once
- 7:59went in November with our mom as well, which was so fun. Yeah,
- 8:03that was so fun. We did a day trip which was crazy.
- 8:09That was fun though, you know what, it was the most expensive day
- 8:11in my life because I've never paid for a flight for like going there in
- 8:15the morning and coming back at night. Yeah, and we woke up what
- 8:18time did we even wake up? A? Three am? Three am?
- 8:24That was Did do our jeans? Did our makeup? At the airport?
- 8:28Back through we had like our you know, casual outfits, sweatpants everything.
- 8:33We get to New York. We're in the bathroom doing our makeup. People
- 8:37are probably looking at us like what is going on? Yeah, what are
- 8:39these girls doing? I was not wearing jeans at three o'clock in the morning.
- 8:43There was no happening. But we went during December, so they had
- 8:46a bunch of Christmas stuff going on, so we did like the Christmas market,
- 8:50Like, we actually did so much that day and obviously I said yes
- 8:54to the dress. Yeah, we saw the what's the tree called? Oh
- 8:56the Rockefeller Tree tree. Yeah, Like that was actually such a fun day
- 9:01and those stuff like that stuff didn't really cost money, which was nice,
- 9:03so we weren't even gonna do it. I remember we were a little hesitant
- 9:07to do it because it was so far away from all like the dress shops
- 9:11that we were at. But then we had the extra time and we were
- 9:13like, you know what, when's the next time we're going to see the
- 9:16Rockefeller Tree. Just do it. And we also I think a big thing
- 9:20too, is that we were nervous it was going to be like really really
- 9:22busy. But it wasn't terrible. No, it really wasn't. No.
- 9:26I think well, certain areas were really busy and certain other areas weren't.
- 9:31It was a Saturday, I think, or was it a face market was
- 9:33really busy. Yeah, that was really busy on a Saturday. Wrench.
- 9:37Anyways, It's just like overall a really fun day, very last minutely planned
- 9:41and all that, but it was honestly just to say yes to the dress.
- 9:45But it was funny, got a lot done in one day, which
- 9:46yeah, yeah, but yeah, we're planning other trips this summer, maybe
- 9:50doing a cottage weekend with the whole fam all that, but obviously with the
- 9:54wedding, that's like the big priority for a trip, and that's obviously a
- 9:58trip in itself is you know the but I think girl trips are super important
- 10:01to make a priority with your friend group, whether it's just something local.
- 10:05But again, I think just the things like we talked about here, just
- 10:09communication, budget, all that. Make sure to highlight those things because it's
- 10:11not going to be fun for anybody. If they're feeling fun to do something,
- 10:16jet would be great, Oh of course, of course, Like,
- 10:18but let's let's talk about the reality here, and let's be realistic. That
- 10:22ain't happening. Okay, let's talk about maintaining friendships or just maintaining friendships in
- 10:28a relationship, anything like that. Madison and I actually had a FaceTime call
- 10:31this morning. Also, does anyone just FaceTime their sister? Like every single
- 10:33morning? Me and my sister, we face him every single every single one,
- 10:35every single night, like screenshare, what you name it. Things are
- 10:39literally call her and she'll be like, why are you calling me? I'm
- 10:43like I don't even know, Like, yes, it's a routine now,
- 10:46Like exactly sometime she facetimes me at like six am and I'm like, I'm
- 10:50still sleeping, why are you calling me? Exactly. She thinks her schedule
- 10:56is the same as my schedule, which is not. I'm like, bitch,
- 11:00i'd wake up till Anyways, Well, some days you wake up late.
- 11:05Sometimes I call you at eight am and you're like, oh my goodness,
- 11:07I'm still asleep. I'm like, bro, get up, it's eight
- 11:09am. Anyways, We're typically we're both morning people. Like, usually we're
- 11:13both up before seven or around seven. But we've been talking a lot about
- 11:18just how like I feel like you've been talking a lot about your deeper connections
- 11:22with your friends lately. I honestly feel the same. Specifically like with Alyssa,
- 11:28my maid of honor. Don't get me wrong, Like we've always been
- 11:31very, very close, but I feel like since she had Hayden, which
- 11:33is her baby, things have kind of been distant. Obviously because she's a
- 11:37new mom. You know, she's adapting to a new change in her life
- 11:41all that. So I kind of felt like I was purposely giving her that
- 11:43space to adapt to a new routine and all that. But then lately,
- 11:48like I want to say, these past two months, we've been going to
- 11:50spin coot together. We've been planning coffee dates, walk dates, all that.
- 11:52Like, I feel like our connection has gotten so much deeper. And
- 11:56yeah, obviously she's helping me plan the wedding and all that, but I
- 11:58don't know. And then same thing with like my group of friends, I
- 12:01feel like everyone's been trying to make it a priority to get all together and
- 12:05do you know, a fire together one night, or golfing or whatever,
- 12:07like doing hobbies together. Like it's been really nice to build that deeper connection
- 12:15with people, and I feel like it's really made a huge difference in my
- 12:18mental health. Yeah, and just getting out of the house and doing fun
- 12:22things with your friends and everyone being on board to doing those things. Everyone's
- 12:26enjoying their time there. All that well, I feel like for me,
- 12:28like a lot of my friends, my really close friends, are recently single
- 12:35and I'm single as well, so I feel like we've all been working on
- 12:41developing a deeper friendship because we don't have a significant other in our lives,
- 12:48and I feel like it's just made us all so much happier and where we're
- 12:52not only focusing on our friendships but also focusing on ourselves because we're doing a
- 12:58lot of stuff that you know, like you said, is good for our
- 13:01mental health. We're doing it with each other, and by doing that,
- 13:05we've all just developed such a deep relationship and deep connection. Like one of
- 13:11my best friends childhood best friends a few like you guys build a really close
- 13:16connection like within these past few what maybe a year and now, but it
- 13:18was never that close for a long time. So she actually just recently joined
- 13:24my soccer team that I've been playing on for a few years now, and
- 13:28I feel like since she joined my soccer team, we've just gotten so much
- 13:31closer. And I feel like everything we do are things that we can do
- 13:37on our own, but we do together. Like, for example, we'll
- 13:39go to workout classes together. For a few weeks ago, she came over
- 13:43at like seven am in the morning, we went on a run together.
- 13:46Yea, and yeah, So I feel like it's really good to kind of
- 13:50do those things that normally you would do on your own, you can do
- 13:54with your friends, and I feel like that kind of helps build that deeper
- 13:56connection hundred percent. Like I was actually going to bring that up about me
- 14:00and Alyssa, Like we have been doing spin coo together like two to three
- 14:03times a week, and we try and plan around our schedules so we can
- 14:05try and do it together. So we'll text each other and be like,
- 14:09Okay, I can do these days this week, she could do you know
- 14:11these days, and then we try and compromise and do the workouts together because
- 14:15you know, usually after the fact we'll chat, go get a coffee or
- 14:18something, and I don't know, I just feel like you're able to prioritize
- 14:20working on yourself by getting a workout in, but then you're also able to
- 14:24enjoy that time with your friend, connect with them all that. So you
- 14:28know the fact that you and Kean are going on runs together all that,
- 14:31and then something that I feel like we've both went on walks, yes,
- 14:33yeah, well even you and I, like we've been trying to go on
- 14:35a hawk girl walks together. And now that you know your work is very
- 14:39flexible, we're able to, like you know, set time aside and go
- 14:43for longer walks together, catch up all that. But anyways, I think
- 14:46just in general, making your friends a priority is super super key, especially
- 14:52like when you're in a relationship with your partners. So for me, obviously
- 14:56you guys know that I am in like the love in your relationship with that,
- 15:00I think it's important to have that conversation with your partner that your friendships
- 15:03are just as important as your relationship with your partner. I feel like that's
- 15:09definitely something you need to communicate with them about because sometimes I feel like guys
- 15:13don't really get it. Some guys, you know, have big groups of
- 15:16guy friends and they you know, go golfing together and all that, and
- 15:18they make it a priority. But they also need to understand that it's the
- 15:22same with the girls, Like the girls want to have girl time for me,
- 15:26Like, I'm obviously single, but I know from what I've heard from
- 15:30my friends who are in long term relationships or I've been in long term relationships,
- 15:35is they always say that it's so important, you know, to have
- 15:39your own things that you can do with yeh friends versus always constantly just being
- 15:45with your partner. Yeah. So, for example, one of my really
- 15:48good friends, she her and her boyfriend have been together for a while now,
- 15:52and one thing that she's been really liking is doing stuff that she can
- 15:58do both with her boyfriend and with her friends. She's hanging out with her
- 16:03friends, but she also gets to hang out with her boyfriend. And one
- 16:06thing we've been doing is going on golf dates together, which I think has
- 16:08been super fun, and that's so great in a partner as well, Like
- 16:11having that quality where he's able to do things with her friends and care to
- 16:17do that with her. That's a huge green flag in a relationship. And
- 16:21if your boyfriend is like also friends and able to be friends with your friends,
- 16:26that is such a green thing. Yeah, one hundred percent. I
- 16:27feel like Zach is very much like that, even like with you and I,
- 16:30Like he wants to come golfing with you and I whenever we go,
- 16:34or you know, when I'm with all my friends and it's just the girls
- 16:37and him, like he doesn't really care if he comes to join, or
- 16:41if I have the girls over at my house, He'll just stay. He
- 16:44doesn't have to leave, Like he'll just come chat with the girls and have
- 16:47some wine. Like, yeah, that is something that you like that is
- 16:49so important a relationship that they're able to enjoy being with your friends as well,
- 16:55and you know not have to always like leave the house and go do
- 16:57his own thing or whatever. Like that's a huge green flag in a relationship.
- 17:00So making sure you have that communication with your partner about that girl time
- 17:06is important. Your friendships are important, but also that they care to be
- 17:10involved in with your friends and all that, like maybe not too much,
- 17:12like obviously, like you should have your girl time without your partner, but
- 17:15the fact that you could have, you know, the best of both worlds
- 17:18by having that option is super key. So I love that. I think
- 17:23another thing that's super important, and this could also be when it comes to
- 17:26like long distance friendships, is just try to maintain regular communication with each other.
- 17:30Like me and my sister we FaceTime a lot. But when I think
- 17:33about long distance besties like Trend and Land, like they obviously live in Vancouver
- 17:37and Toronto, and so obviously sometimes it's hard to keep that connection with them.
- 17:44So we try and text each other as often as we can, saying,
- 17:45hey, how are you, Let's schedule a FaceTime date FaceTime, Yes,
- 17:49exactly. Love snap Chat sometimes great because then you can see each other's
- 17:52faces. You can snapchat each other. Like, just trying to maintain a
- 17:56connection with them by communicating with them, I think is something that you should
- 18:00also make a priority, because yeah, friendships are super key. Let's talk
- 18:06about focusing on ourself this summer. One thing for me that I've actually been
- 18:11loving is I've been really trying to be in my hobby girl era, like
- 18:15trying something new, trying something different. And I've been playing pickleball a lot
- 18:18lately, which is something that I tried last year that was new, but
- 18:22then this year I've been golfing a lot more. I actually went golfing with
- 18:26my girlfriends this weekend and it was so freaking fun. And golf is very
- 18:30hard to learn. Not gonna lie, I am honestly not doing too bad,
- 18:33which I'm happy about because I'm a very competitive person. But I've been
- 18:37going to the driving range and like you've been into golfing, I yeah,
- 18:41I've been into golfing a lot with my friends and we've we're all like not
- 18:48the best, but we've actually been talking about I don't think I mentioned this
- 18:51to you, but we've been talking about taking lessons. I want to take
- 18:55lessons so badly because it's so hard, Like yeah, definitely, like there's
- 18:59times where I'm hitting good, but then there's times where like it's there,
- 19:02and then you get so frustrated, Like I feel like if I was better
- 19:06at it. Not saying I don't have fun. I have so much fun.
- 19:08Yeah, I just mean like I feel like if I was better at
- 19:11it, it would be more fun, like, oh my god, I
- 19:14just got par in one of these holes. Yeah, exactly. So picking
- 19:18up something new, a new hobby, I think that's such a key thing
- 19:21to focusing on yourself because you're learning something new, it's something different. It
- 19:26kind of just gets you out of your comfort level. I don't know.
- 19:29Yeah, No. One thing for me that I've been doing lately to focus
- 19:33on myself is pushing myself to do things that I've never done before, but
- 19:37I've always wanted to do one hundred percent. So for example, and Kaylee
- 19:41knows this, I used to never be able to go to a workout class
- 19:45by myself. I don't know why, but I just felt like so intimidated
- 19:48yeah, to like go by myself. I'd always like text Kaye be like
- 19:52do you want to go to spinco together? And she'd be busy, and
- 19:56I'm like, Okay, well I guess I'm not going. Yeah, but
- 19:57that doesn't just because you can't go, y, you know, I don't,
- 20:00I can't go. So I a few weeks ago, I officially stepped
- 20:06out of my comfort zone and I went to my first spin class by myself.
- 20:10And now I do it all the time by myself. Yeah, Like
- 20:11it's just like that first time, it's a little scary, push yourself to
- 20:15do it. I also think being in like a team environment when it comes
- 20:18to spin classes or just group workout classes in general, it makes you feel
- 20:23like you're part of something right, Like it feels like you don't have to
- 20:26be intimidated by people. Like everyone's there for the same reason. We're all
- 20:29there to focus on ourselves. We're all there to get a good workout in,
- 20:33and if anything, it loves you to like create new friendships maybe with
- 20:34new people who are also, you know, in the similar mindset where they,
- 20:38you know, enjoy working out, they enjoy spin Coat all that,
- 20:41so you could totally meet new friends. I see so many people around my
- 20:45age where I'm like, I could totally be friends with these hundred percent.
- 20:48I've actually met a lot of people through spin coat as well, whether they
- 20:51follow me or they don't follow me, Like, just creating deeper connections with
- 20:53people through the spin co community has been so great. So I actually used
- 20:57to be like that. Right after COVID, I felt like it was super
- 21:00hard for me to get to a workout class after being locked in a home
- 21:03for two years by yourself and doing at home workouts for so long. I
- 21:07was very comfortable just doing at home workouts and that's it. But it got
- 21:11to a point where I was kind of getting sick of the at home workouts
- 21:14and I was like, I need to change it up. Like I feel
- 21:15like there's something so amazing about I don't know what it is, but something
- 21:21about working out outside of your house, Like, yes, I don't know
- 21:25what it is. We're motivating, I don't know. I feel like getting
- 21:26out of the house getting a workout like I and also booking that class,
- 21:30like you are committed to working out, like you have no choice exactly,
- 21:34Like you have no choice but to go unless you want to pay the cancelation
- 21:38fee. So it's a good motivator to work out and get there. If
- 21:42I didn't book a six thirty am workout class, I probably would not be
- 21:48working out at home, not at all. No, But because I have
- 21:49that six thirty eight and for some class, working at short, well,
- 21:53some people for working out at home is not possible because they're distracted easily,
- 21:57or they just don't feel like they get a good work and at home all
- 22:00that. Like I still balance my at home workouts and you know, going
- 22:03to workout class. But if I had to pick in terms of what workout
- 22:07I prefer, I prefer actually leaving the house and doing a workout. I
- 22:11think it's just pushing yourself to do that one class. It will make you
- 22:14realize like, oh, I could come back and do this again. Like
- 22:15for an example, I just joined Soma Pilates what maybe three months ago because
- 22:19they opened up in February, and I did one class as soon as they
- 22:23opened, and then I never really went back because it was something new.
- 22:26I wasn't good at it. I have no idea how to work that machine.
- 22:30The reformer is honestly a lot of work to learn. But I started
- 22:33to go back again because I'm like, you know what, I want to
- 22:36go back by myself. I really want to learn how to do, you
- 22:37know plates I really want to do it on a weekly basis. It was
- 22:41just something that I really wanted to do. But as you keep going,
- 22:42obviously you get better and you learn and you start to break the shell out
- 22:48of your comfort zone and just you know, actually enjoy being there. So
- 22:52I don't know, I think it's just like it also pushing yourself a bit.
- 22:55Yeah, I feel like one pushing yourself and two, you know,
- 22:59getting out out of the house. I feel like after that workout, you
- 23:03just feel so good. Yeah, I don't know what it is about it,
- 23:07but like I know, for me, every time I've booked that six
- 23:10thirty am spin class or not even always feel you could always feel good,
- 23:12not even at six thirty. But just like anytime I've booked a workout class
- 23:17during the day, I come home and I just have the best day effort.
- 23:21I'm like in the best mood. I go get my Starbucks. Like
- 23:23I tell literally the podcast that all the time, just because it's the little
- 23:27things like that that truly makes a huge difference in your day when you put
- 23:32time aside to focus on yourself by getting a workout in or going to get
- 23:36a coffee or going on a walk anything like that. Like just yeah,
- 23:38taking that hour of your time or your day to do that is honestly so
- 23:41crucial to having a good day. Like when I have a day where I
- 23:45don't work out or I don't do anything for myself, I notice that I'm
- 23:48like, Okay, why am I off today? Or it's because I didn't
- 23:52set time to myself, to journal, or to go outside or to you
- 23:55know, to work out off topic, but like on the same topic of
- 23:59like focusing on yourself and like things that make your day. I know,
- 24:03for me, it's like pampering myself, like going to get my nails done.
- 24:06Yeah, and I know you probably talked about this a lot on the
- 24:08podcasts, but like those are like little things like I have a nail appointment,
- 24:11I need to book, and I'm like so excited and it's gonna make
- 24:15my days, going to make I just feel like it's gonna make your week
- 24:18more put together too, Yes, doing little things like that, like even
- 24:21like putting the smallest amount of makeup on every single day I work from home,
- 24:25obviously, Like I don't have to put makeup on, but I usually
- 24:26choose to because I feel more put together. I feel more motivated when I
- 24:30have a putting outfit cute outfit confidence, Like I wear workout sets every single
- 24:34day because I feel the most confident in that whatever. I'm not wearing a
- 24:38workout set anymore, I'm like, oh God, I hate this outfit.
- 24:41Like I don't know, there's like I don't know, I just feel like
- 24:44wearing cute sets honestly makes a huge difference. Another thing is enjoying the outdoors.
- 24:51One thing that my mom I feel like always well our mom taught us
- 24:53is that being outdoors is honestly so healing, like hearing the nature, being
- 24:59in the trail and anything like that. Like I personally feel like going on
- 25:03an hour walk with you know, a podcast on, or listening to music
- 25:06or just honestly like with no headphones on at all, and just like listening
- 25:08to the birds stirping. Now that, like, I truly feel like nature
- 25:12is healing. I've been very like one with nature. Yes, Like I
- 25:18feel like since I've tooken on this challenge, I've been doing my ten k
- 25:22steps a day, walking for like an hour outside with Freddy. I feel
- 25:25like I never really appreciated nature until I started to walk in the trails and
- 25:29like, actually hear, look at the pretty trees exactly. Like even yesterday
- 25:33I was filming flowers just because I thought they were stunning, And I'm like,
- 25:37is that weird? I don't know, but I'm like, I just
- 25:41love nature so much lately, and I feel like has just been so therapeutic
- 25:45and very healing, very healing, and just like I always talk about going
- 25:48on walks a lot in the podcast, so people know how much it means
- 25:51to me. But I don't know, I just feel like it's very therapeutic.
- 25:55Like I like, I feel like I don't need therapy because like go
- 25:56on walks and like I don't even know what that makes sense, but like
- 26:00it truly feels so good. A few weeks ago, I went to go
- 26:04get ice cream with my friends and we were kind of just walking around,
- 26:07you know, like the cart fair ground. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 26:11And we were just walking around and I was just like, oh my
- 26:12god. Yeah, justn't have to be a walk, like just being outside
- 26:15ye yeah, or biking or like this does not have anything to do with
- 26:19health, but like going to a winery, like just like being in the
- 26:23outdoor space, like yeah, I don't know. Me and Kayley have been
- 26:27very much trying to live our Miley Stewart summer. Yes, we want to
- 26:33go horseback they know, no, it's literally our goal. We are going
- 26:37horseback riding. We're determined, We're we actually are trying to book something hopefully
- 26:41next week or the week after. There's like a trail that you could do
- 26:45and it's basically horse back riding lessons and we're gonna do it. Gonna were
- 26:48so determined. Yeah, they were like okay, so kindergarten grade one and
- 26:53two, we're like, uh over twenty, Like I don't know what we're
- 26:59gonna be. And I was looking honestly up farms and not as it was
- 27:02like, Okay, no, I don't think we have to go to a
- 27:04farm just to look at freaking animals and take cute pics. But I'm like,
- 27:08honestly, it'd be the aesthetic we're looking for. I don't know,
- 27:11we've been I've been super into country music right now lately, like oh my
- 27:15gosh, Kaylee knows this, but I used to be obsessed with horses,
- 27:19like lately she wanted to buy off or Hannah Montana was my favorite show.
- 27:26Yeah, yeah, and we all know Miley Stewart like with her horse.
- 27:32I wanted to be Miley Stewart. I remember crying to my parents that I
- 27:37wanted them to build we live in the city, Yeah, we didn't even
- 27:40live property. I wanted them to build, like I don't even know,
- 27:44like a barn in our backyard. Yea, Like are you crazy? No?
- 27:47Like she was dead set on getting like turn the whole backyard. Yeah,
- 27:52to like barns. Oh my gosh. No, it was just it
- 27:55was not happening. But I could see why she wanted a pet horse.
- 27:59But anyway, that never happened. No, it never happened. Honestly,
- 28:03I think courses are extremely expensive as well, but there's there was no way
- 28:07we were getting oars. But anyways, we have been in our country girl
- 28:11era. I've been obsessed with listening to country music lately, Like that has
- 28:15been my favorite thing, to blame the music in the car when I'm driving,
- 28:18sunroofed down. Like. I also feel like country music is very summer
- 28:22but yeah, like I feel I will listen to country music in the winter
- 28:26just to think about summer. Yeah, and make me happy about you.
- 28:29Yeah. And I remember I used to I never hated country. Well,
- 28:33like I say, I feel like it wasn't really popular until like the last
- 28:36few years. I remember when you started dating Zach, he was obsessed with
- 28:40country music, obsessed, and I just thought it was so weird. I
- 28:42don't know, I just like was like, but I wasn't really into it
- 28:45either, and I was I would kind of just go to country concerts with
- 28:48Zach thinking like okay, Like I think support my partner is what got me
- 28:53to start listening. Really, it's because he would always be playing it,
- 28:56and yeah, I kind of was like, oh, like the song,
- 29:00it's actually kind of good. And then I just yeah, I don't remember
- 29:03like when it was. I think it was a bit of Zach and a
- 29:04bit of like my friend group, they listen to a lot of countries,
- 29:07so I feel like lately I've just been really enjoying listening to it, and
- 29:11yeah, I don't know, I just feel like also where we live is
- 29:15pretty farmy, like yeah, in Ottawa, like there's a lot of farmland
- 29:18and all that. So I don't know, I feel like it very fits
- 29:22our vibe. Yeah we live, but I don't know. I feel like
- 29:25a lot of people have been in their country girl era and I'm not complaining
- 29:27about it. Like just even cowboy boots, like people's like, I know,
- 29:33I'm like red, black, you name it. That's all I want
- 29:34to wear lately. Cowboy. Yeah, Like I would have loved to do
- 29:38like a Western theme for my botchorette in Italy, but I do not think
- 29:41that fits that vibe, so we're gonna not do that. I honestly considered
- 29:45my Autawa wedding being in a field and doing a whole Western theme. I
- 29:49even wanted Zach to wear a cowboy at he was on the phone, Thatch
- 29:53was like, I am not wearing a cowboy at to our wedding in Ottawa.
- 29:57I'm like, okay, fine, but it would have been. So
- 30:00I've seen a lot of people do Western theme weddings and I'm obsessed with it.
- 30:03So if you have farmland and you are planning a wedding, I highly
- 30:07recommend doing it. But Zach said he would wear his cowboy boots. But
- 30:10he just said that the cowboy's not your vibe. It's not our vibe.
- 30:12It really isn't. It doesn't give our vibe. But also, anyways,
- 30:15but the vision I saw, the vision, one can dream. But if
- 30:19you have that vision for yourself, please do it for me, because I
- 30:22freaking love Western right now. I think it's so cute. But yeah,
- 30:27and then yeah, I don't know. I don't think there's anything else we
- 30:30really want to talk about. We talked about maintaining friendships and just like,
- 30:33if you're in a relationship, how to communicate that with your partner, and
- 30:37yeah, just keeping that connection with your friends. All that we talked about
- 30:42our girls trips and just our advice and our hot take when it comes to
- 30:47planning a girl's trip and just the reality as well as just focusing on yourself
- 30:51this summer. Just some tips that we've been doing, trying new things,
- 30:53you know, being outside, more walking, all that. I think it's
- 30:56really important to also journal. I talk about that a lot, but I
- 31:00feel like journaling. You journal a lot too. Yeah, so I've been
- 31:03journaling a lot, but I feel like also too, going back to like
- 31:06building deeper connections with your friends. Like I know, for me, like
- 31:10I always want my friends to come to me when they're going through something,
- 31:14and like I know that I can go to my friends when I'm going through
- 31:15something and I feel like just talking it out loud one hundred percent else And
- 31:21even if they're not giving you advice, but just listening, letting you vent,
- 31:25I feel like it's also very therapeutic. And see, I feel like
- 31:29I do better with when I have something to talk about. I feel like
- 31:32I do better when I'm talking to you in person or via spacetime or a
- 31:34phone call versus journaling. Yeah, I don't really journal out my emotions.
- 31:38I like to speak my emotions and tell everyone how I feel, Whereas journaling,
- 31:42for me, it's more of like a daily thing to do in the
- 31:45morning, where it's like just being really grateful and just you know, doing
- 31:48the little things that I get to do every single day, like just makes
- 31:51me realize how grateful I am to be able to do those things. So
- 31:55I feel like just doing that gratitude is extremely important. But I think like
- 32:00when you're in these type of situations where you need to talk to someone,
- 32:02talking it out loud is so crucial. I think you journal though sometimes with
- 32:07your emotions too, right, like in terms of like how you feel about
- 32:09a situation, you'll write it out in your journal. That's like I wish
- 32:13I could do that. I can't do that, but I think it's good
- 32:15that you're Yeah, well, I think I definitely prefer like talking it out
- 32:19loud, but like if you know, there's if you don't have someone to
- 32:22talk to or whatever. I just wanted to always try. I've never tried
- 32:25this, but like just like filming, like recording recordings on your phone,
- 32:30like we have that app, like the voice Memo app on your phone,
- 32:32and just like film it. You could like make the title just like the
- 32:37day or something and just like talk to yourself or I've seen this on TikTok.
- 32:40I don't know if you've seen it people, you know, like on
- 32:43a math book, there's like the photo booth and you can film people like
- 32:47actually show like a therapy session on TikTok where they're like they actually just film
- 32:52videos of themselves talking and I'm like, wait, I really do that.
- 32:57I've seen a lot of tiktoks about it, and they show clips like all
- 33:00these different videos that they've filmed on this photo booth on their computer. Becau
- 33:04it's just them talking. Well, it could be information that you've been holding
- 33:07back and you don't know how to You don't want to tell something you're not
- 33:09ready to tell someone maybe, but you want to let it out. Then
- 33:12that's like the exact puny to do. So yeah, just talk to yourself.
- 33:15Yeah, I feel like that's another good thing to talk about when you're
- 33:19focusing on yourself, is just yeah, talking it out to yourself or especially
- 33:22if you're not like I know for me, sometimes when I journal, like
- 33:25there's so much I want to write down and then my hands starts hurting.
- 33:29Yeah, I get the voice memory like, yeah, the voice memo,
- 33:32or like I said, the photo booth like on your computer. I know
- 33:36a few few people that have done that, and like I said, I've
- 33:38seen it on TikTok, I'm like, wait, yeah, that would be
- 33:42so therapeutic. Yeah. No, that's a really good point. But yeah,
- 33:45that's another thing to highlight when you're focusing on yourself. But thanks Madison
