- 0:05The Major League Baseball Player Association's executive director
- 0:09Tony Clark was forced to resign from his position after an
- 0:12investigation revealed impermissible benefits nepotism,
- 0:17including an affair with his sister-in-law, as well as more
- 0:20corruption from the now former head of baseball's union.
- 0:24As debates were already expected to be contentious over the new
- 0:27collective bargaining agreement to replace the outdated system
- 0:31that will expire on December 1st of this year, the question is
- 0:34are the players better off without Clark as lucrative labor
- 0:38talks start eating up or will this almost it surely help in
- 0:42bringing about the first baseball strike since 1994?
- 0:46ESP NS Brian Winhorst says LeBron James is likely to head
- 0:51back to the Cleveland Cavaliers next year to finish out his
- 0:54storied career if he is willing to take a big pay cut.
- 0:58Winnorse believes that there's a 99% chance LeBron will team up
- 1:02with Spider, Mitchell and the Boys to make one last run for
- 1:05the King back in his hometown. Will LeBron make the decision to
- 1:10take his talents back to Cleveland or are we being held
- 1:13witness to the final chapter of the NB as all time point leader?
- 1:18And before we call our shots and say all righty then to Woody
- 1:21Johnson and The Jets, we will take a ride on the concrete
- 1:24jungle carousel and let you know what's the scoop with all the
- 1:28teams in the tri-state area on another all gas, no brakes,
- 1:33Wheeling and dealing, styling and profiling.

- 4:34Ladies and gentlemen, it's been a crazy, crazy week.
- 4:37Today marks another day where I went to doctors.
- 4:41I am absolutely one of those guys that don't like going to
- 4:45doctors, seeing dentists. And today I was actually jumping
- 4:50from one doctor to another. Last night we had a meeting and
- 4:54I couldn't make the meeting because I wasn't feeling good.
- 4:56I starting to spit up phlegm. And I know anybody understands
- 5:00when you getting sick, you think that you have, you know, I don't
- 5:04know, you have a cold, you have the flu, you have COVID.
- 5:07Well, last night, I don't know what was wrong with me.
- 5:10So I dozed off. I went to sleep.
- 5:12I winded up waking up at 10:45 PM and I was coughing up green
- 5:18crap and I didn't know what it was.
- 5:19So I was up all hours of the night doing everything to try.
- 5:23I, I mean, how many people have told me to drink peroxide or,
- 5:27you know, gargle peroxide because your throat's hurting
- 5:30you or do other things, drink lemon juice or anything?
- 5:34I I was trying everything, calling friends.
- 5:38My girlfriend's a nurse, so I was asking her what should I do?
- 5:42Try to feel better. So I woke up this morning, I
- 5:46went to a doctor and then I went to a dentist to measure a crown
- 5:50because I am trying to, you know, my teeth, I have very nice
- 5:53teeth. I take good care of it.
- 5:55But over the last couple of years I've, oh, I've had
- 5:59problems with it when it comes to cavities and, and making sure
- 6:03that none of my crowns would break.
- 6:05So today I was measured for another crown and I the one
- 6:08thing I don't know if anybody knows this, I'm allergic to
- 6:11Novocaine. So I cannot have Novocaine.
- 6:15So I, I don't do sleeping gas or whatever the hell they do.
- 6:19So what they do usually I went to a new dentist today because I
- 6:22have a new insurance company. So I, she was like amazed that I
- 6:27wouldn't take anything. And she was like, what, what do
- 6:30you want to do? And I, I was like, do you have
- 6:32any straps? Because they usually strap me to
- 6:34a chair. My old dentist strapped me to a
- 6:36chair because I do it naturally. So they didn't have any straps.
- 6:40She thought I was crazy. Like, I was in like an insane
- 6:42assignment and I said, just drill it.
- 6:45And she's like, Are you sure? And I was like, yeah, drill,
- 6:48drill my drill, drill the cavity out or whatever the hell you
- 6:51doing so we can measure for a crown.
- 6:53So she was doing it and she's like, you OK?
- 6:55You OK? But I, I don't know if anybody
- 6:57knows this. If you've never used Novocaine
- 7:00or you never used any of that stuff, eventually your gums go
- 7:03numb because it it's it's so painful.
- 7:06Your whole body starts to, I mean, you start to sweat all
- 7:10this stuff because of pain. So my body is so used to it.
- 7:16And she's like, just absolutely amazed.
- 7:18She kept stopping. She's like, you OK?
- 7:19You OK? I was like, yeah, just get the
- 7:21whole, get the thing out of my mouth.
- 7:23So she drilled it and she measured it.
- 7:25And at the end of my, my time over there with the dentist, she
- 7:29was like, I, I've never seen that before.
- 7:31I've never been in a patient. The last time I've seen this was
- 7:35my parents when I was in the like the 1970s because they
- 7:39didn't really have all the stuff that they have.
- 7:41Now She's like, I've never seen anybody have, you know, do
- 7:44cavities or even root canals. What do you do with root canals?
- 7:48I said I I've had two root canals one time and, and the
- 7:52last root canal I had, they didn't, they didn't give me any
- 7:55novocaine because I'm allergic to it.
- 7:56I'm definitely allergic to novocaine.
- 7:58Like my face blows up. I'd be rushed to a hospital.
- 8:01I would need an EpiPen for novocaine.
- 8:04So they have all different things they have like sleeping
- 8:06gas or laughing gas or whatever the hell they do.
- 8:09But they, this particular dentist didn't have it.
- 8:11So I was like, just just do it. And she was like, after the, I
- 8:16told Brittany, because Brittany after I got back to the, you
- 8:19know, got back home and she was here collecting all my laundry.
- 8:23She was like, well, what did they do?
- 8:24I said they were drilling out my mouth and shaping up for the
- 8:27crown. She's like, are they, did they
- 8:29give you anything? I said, you know, I'm allergic
- 8:31to novocaine. So she's like, what did they do?
- 8:32I said, they just drilled it out of my mouth.
- 8:34So my mouth went numb and my mouth is starting to just come
- 8:38back and I'm starting to feel that I'm in pain.
- 8:41So I just want to let everybody know I'm here doing the show.
- 8:45But it's I am definitely in pain right now dealing with all the
- 8:50different vibrations on one side of the mouth and the other.
- 8:53Social media. Have you ever gone into a
- 8:55dentist and ever have that done to you?
- 8:58I mean. Obviously not without novocaine.
- 9:00Not without novocaine. I had my wisdom teeth pulled
- 9:02when I was in college. Actually my my wisdom teeth came
- 9:05up so I didn't have to worry about.
- 9:06That Oh, wow. OK, Yeah.
- 9:07So all four of them actually popped out when I was like 1819
- 9:12years. Old yeah, I I think it was after
- 9:13my freshman year in college, I had it pulled with, with the
- 9:16Novocaine. I remember I was like 3 days.
- 9:18I felt very like twisted in my mouth a lot of the time.
- 9:21And then I attempted to front on that Friday, I somehow was able
- 9:26to broadcast a soccer game that my college network was
- 9:29broadcasting. And I I toughed through it, but
- 9:31I definitely was still feeling some of the effects of it.
- 9:33She was like absolutely amazed. Even the nurse that was there or
- 9:37the medical assistant that was, you know, holding my hand, she
- 9:40was like, I have never seen that before.
- 9:42I've never seen somebody not take novocaine, not take
- 9:46anything and deal with the pain that you're probably dealing
- 9:48with. And I'm like, after you get used
- 9:50to it, I start, I realized that I was allergic to novocaine when
- 9:53I was like 22 years old. Wow.
- 9:55So, and I, I remember I was rushed to the hospital because
- 9:58my mom, they all of a face, all of a sudden my face like blew up
- 10:03like literally my lip blew up massively.
- 10:07So I was rushed to the hospital and they, they told me that I'm
- 10:10allergic to novocaine and thank God you were rushed to the
- 10:12hospital. You could be deadly, you know,
- 10:15deathly allergic to it. So I, I, so they gave me, I now
- 10:20I always carry around, I don't know if anybody does this.
- 10:23I carry around an EpiPen because if anything happens, I touch
- 10:28novocaine. I can definitely be allergic to
- 10:31it. So that's the only thing I'm
- 10:33really that I know that I'm allergic to that and certain
- 10:35grass because I've had the I went to the allergy doctor and
- 10:39and they tested me for all those different things.
- 10:42But novocaine is like the one thing that I'm deathly allergic
- 10:46to. My friend Mike, he's allergic to
- 10:48strawberries. If he touches a strawberry, he
- 10:51can. He could.
- 10:52He could die. From my uncle's the same way.
- 10:53He's allergies like 4 different fruits, strawberries,
- 10:55blueberries, I think it's Peaches and pineapple.
- 10:58It's crazy. It's absolutely crazy.
- 11:00I didn't believe it until my face blew up.
- 11:03So I'm always worried. I always tell her, you know,
- 11:05make sure there's no novocaine around me.
- 11:08I don't want to be, I don't want to be rushed to the hospital.
- 11:10But that's why in my, in my car, I actually carry an EpiPen.
- 11:14So because I don't know, I mean, who carries around novocaine?
- 11:19I mean, what are the chances you bumping into novocaine?
- 11:21But anything's possible. So I'm always careful when I go
- 11:25to a dentist anyways at 8:30 we were talking to former 12 year
- 11:30Pro Bowl running back I'm at I'm in Green.
- 11:33He's going to be joining us. He's never been on a show.
- 11:36I remember Green when he was playing for the Green Bay
- 11:38Packers, those Brett Favre teams and he was their go to man.
- 11:42One of the more unique running backs of the 90s.
- 11:46He was fun to watch. Looking forward to get him on.
- 11:48Say thank you to the myth because myth reached out to Mr.
- 11:52Green and Green is obliged us. He is going to be joining us a
- 11:56little bit later in the show, but this story has been beating
- 12:00on the surface. I mean, absolutely beating on
- 12:04the surface. Tony Clark resigns as the head
- 12:09of the MLB Players Association ESP.
- 12:12NS Jeff Passan reports that the head of the MLB Players
- 12:15Association, Tony Clark, has stepped down from his position
- 12:19after an investigation uncovering and inappropriate
- 12:24sexual relationship with his sister-in-law who was was a
- 12:28union employee working with Clark in the Arizona offices.
- 12:32Clark's wife's sister, Francis Clark, yes, was the only
- 12:38employee employee outside of Clark that had access to the
- 12:43special. I'm sorry to the specially made
- 12:46league office Clark had built for himself.
- 12:51The inappropriate relationship was uncovered in an ongoing
- 12:55federal investigation by the Eastern District of New York,
- 12:59which apparently started in 2023, the same year the
- 13:04sister-in-law was hired by the union.
- 13:08The Athletic reports that Deputy Executive Director Bruce Meyer,
- 13:12who has been with the MLB since 2022, was the unanimous voted
- 13:18and was unanimously voted as the interim executive director of
- 13:23the MLBPA. The MLBPA voting subcommittee
- 13:27included veteran pitcher Chris Bassett and the best pitcher in
- 13:33the game, Tarik Scubal. Scubal has said he believes that
- 13:37the MLBPA is stronger than ever and believes that Meyer can do
- 13:42just as well, if not better than Clark in contract negotiations.
- 13:48The biggest issues in the CBA seem to revolve around the
- 13:53deferred Dodgers adding Kyle Tucker this offseason, leading
- 13:57to calls for salary cap from owners.
- 14:00The current CBA expires December 1st and the MLBPA says they want
- 14:07to do everything they can to not, I mean not have any games
- 14:13cancelled in 2027 and the season.
- 14:16I will say this, I don't know much about this story besides
- 14:20what has been posted all over social media.
- 14:23It's been a laughingstock, an absolute laughingstock.
- 14:26And it's something that really. But first of all, that beer that
- 14:28Tony Clark has, it's got to go. It's absolutely got to go.
- 14:31It's ugly, ugly as sin. He looks like Santa Claus, you
- 14:36know, lost his best friend. I don't know.
- 14:38He actually looks like an elf, like Santa's elf.
- 14:42Nevertheless, you think about this story and, and there's a
- 14:46lot of scandals, a lot of scandals of power, a lot of
- 14:49these big name owners. How many times have we seen
- 14:53stories from billionaire guys get caught with cheating on
- 14:57their wives or cheating on their their best friends sisters,
- 15:01girlfriend. I mean everything.
- 15:03We've heard so many stories over the years where people use their
- 15:07power to get what they want. Tony Clark has been the voice of
- 15:13the players for many, many years.
- 15:16And you think about the story and, and the backlash that this
- 15:19is going to collect, not only from the league as it's, you
- 15:24know, as a whole, But when you try to compare all the leagues,
- 15:27the NBA, the NHL and the NFL and all the scandals that have
- 15:31happened over the years, this is a scandal that you would be
- 15:34shocked about. Because think about it, Tony
- 15:37Clark ran the MLBPA. He built the Arizona office.
- 15:41He hired his sister. I'm sorry.
- 15:44His wife's sister, right? Am I right?
- 15:47It's his wife's sister. Just to sleep with her.
- 15:52I mean, think about it. Why did he hire her?
- 15:54I mean, she's making $100,000 a year.
- 15:56That's good money. I mean, what is she doing?
- 15:58Probably nothing. What do you need to do at the
- 16:00MLBPAI mean besides negotiate contracts?
- 16:05What is she making? Making phone calls and answering
- 16:07him. She's making 100K, so
- 16:09automatically that would be fishy.
- 16:12But the fact, the fact here is you look at the MLB and the
- 16:18strike which could happen at the end of this year.
- 16:23There's no negotiations. And they wanted to start
- 16:25negotiations September 1st. That's what I've heard.
- 16:30And now you bring in Meyer. Now I know Tarek Scubble came
- 16:33out and he says that it might be in a better position than it
- 16:36ever was with Tony Clark, and that's great.
- 16:37Tarek comes out, he speaks for the players.
- 16:40That's great to hear. But there are more things going
- 16:44on in the MLB that meets the eye.
- 16:47Think about it, when everything that's happened, the betting
- 16:50scandal, the Otani scandals we have seen and it's happened
- 16:55strategically over the last three seasons.
- 16:58And now you you talk about the deferred Dodgers, which
- 17:02everybody is talking about and speaking about, and the fact
- 17:05that the Dodgers have won back-to-back championships.
- 17:08They've won three out of the last six.
- 17:10They've dominated baseball. Why?
- 17:12Because they figured out a way to manipulate the salaries and
- 17:18the salary cap with deferred money.
- 17:20No, deferred money's been around forever, but now the league and
- 17:25owners need to look at this as a problem for baseball because
- 17:30nobody wants to see one team dominate every single year
- 17:33because they're buying players and getting the players to
- 17:36agree. Hey, you know what, We're going
- 17:37to bring you on with a signing bonus of 60 million, but we're
- 17:41not going to pay you for 12 years or we're going to pay you
- 17:43minimum amount of money because we're all about winning
- 17:46championships. And Tony Clark was set up in a
- 17:51position where he was going to be the face of this
- 17:54negotiations. One of the more important times
- 17:58for baseball to hit it out of the park.
- 18:00Think about it, Literally hit it out of the park because baseball
- 18:04has been growing. The WBC is around the corner.
- 18:07This could take baseball to another level.
- 18:09All the stars want to play in the WBAWBC right now.
- 18:13Think about it. Aaron Judge has never been,
- 18:15never played for Team USA, Never.
- 18:18Not, not in his time here in the major leagues.
- 18:21You think about all the players that have agreed to play in the
- 18:24WBC because they they want to play for their stars and
- 18:27stripes. They want to play for their
- 18:29Puerto Rican flag. They want to play for, you know,
- 18:31the Mexican flag, their colors. And it's not like that anymore
- 18:38because baseball, with all the money these players are being
- 18:41divided out to, there is no salary cap.
- 18:44This is the only sport out of the four major sports that
- 18:47doesn't really have a salary cap.
- 18:51And I believe it's been a problem forever.
- 18:53We, we, me and Jabba, off air, have argued this over and over
- 18:57and over again. Finally, Jabba has agreed with
- 19:00me that something needs to be done with the Dodgers.
- 19:02Now, he never said that the baseball's going to need or
- 19:05should push for a salary cap, but even if they negotiate
- 19:09something with the deferred money, there has to be some kind
- 19:12of cap to the salary. And then you, you talk about
- 19:16Clark in this scandal and how it affects the negotiations, while
- 19:20it affects it enormously, because if you look at Meyer,
- 19:25Meyer has not been in these conversations.
- 19:28It's been all Tony Clark. Now you're bringing another
- 19:30front guy, an interim guy. He might not be the guy in the
- 19:34future, but he's there now where he has the player's ear and
- 19:39unanimously he has every single player of the MLBPA behind him.
- 19:45And you wonder if he's put in this position to fail because
- 19:50baseball, especially the owners, are in the driver's seat.
- 19:56They know that they they smell blood and they know that the
- 20:00situation that the MLB players are going to be in in the
- 20:03offseason is either you negotiate a deal that's fair to
- 20:07the owners and fair to the league as a whole, or we're
- 20:10going to go strike and, and the players are.
- 20:14Are going to be pushing for it why because hey, you know what
- 20:17if we're we're in the driver's seat and we're pushing for this
- 20:20the owners are going to try to push this forward when the
- 20:22owners are multi billionaires. Do you think the owners give a
- 20:25crap if they're set out 5060 games this season next season
- 20:30where they're going to get what they want where there is some
- 20:32kind of cap where the players aren't going to be making
- 20:35seventy $80 million a year 100% and Tony Clark was the middle
- 20:41man. He was the guy that was going to
- 20:42be the driver in this, you know on this bus and now the bus is
- 20:48completely crashed with his sister-in-law literally crashed
- 20:53with his sister-in-law. I know everybody makes jokes and
- 20:56there's memes out there that it's going to be really awkward.
- 21:00Thanksgiving and Christmas, great.
- 21:02I I could give a crap about the Clark family and how they get
- 21:05along with one another inside and out of their house.
- 21:07Who's sleeping with whose wife? I mean, this is a soap opera.
- 21:12The fact here is how does this affect the MOB and negotiations
- 21:18when December 1st comes around and it's going to come around
- 21:20quick. It always does.
- 21:22Baseball is going to go quick. We're going to have a new
- 21:25champion at the probably before December.
- 21:29And then we're going to be wondering, where does baseball
- 21:33go? Do they go into 2027?
- 21:35Like what was it 9596 when they went on strike where they missed
- 21:39practically every every part of the season?
- 21:42Or did they come to a negotiation where it makes sense
- 21:46for the owners and it makes sense for the players?
- 21:48And you know, the players are not going to agree to a salary
- 21:51cap. They're just not, absolutely
- 21:53not. So how does this work when you
- 21:56have a new guy in office and he doesn't know where these
- 22:01negotiate conversation, negotiating conversations have
- 22:04gone over the last, I don't know, 62 weeks, seven months
- 22:10because he wasn't in that room. He wasn't in those
- 22:12conversations. He knows about them.
- 22:14The players now have voted him in to put him in that position
- 22:17to figure out how he can negotiate these deals.
- 22:20But negotiations when it comes to multi billion dollar deals
- 22:25are not going to be easy to make.
- 22:26And and again, going back to the Dodgers, the Dodgers have really
- 22:30spun the wheel their way. And everybody's going to say,
- 22:34like Jabba has said over the last couple of months, he says,
- 22:37well, every team can do what the Dodgers did.
- 22:39Not necessarily. When you bring in players like
- 22:44Friedman or Betts or Otani, they got to believe that at the time
- 22:49when they're sitting with negotiations, they got to
- 22:52believe that this team is built good enough to run away with the
- 22:56championship. Now at the in the beginning, the
- 22:59Dodgers had to negotiate deals with Mookie Betts and Friedman.
- 23:02They gave him a a thought or they they set up a platter and
- 23:06they had to believe that they were going to finish that food.
- 23:08That food was edible enough to finish the season, to finish
- 23:13everything off, to win championships.
- 23:15Now you think about it and you look at the Tucker deal, it
- 23:20works for Tucker. It doesn't work for the league
- 23:22Tucker signed. What was it, a 4-5 year deal?
- 23:25Four years on 200 and 6200 and 40 million.
- 23:28Dollars which you can opt out after the second year.
- 23:30So he's getting money up front so he's happy and no matter
- 23:34what, if it doesn't work out with the Dodgers, he's in the
- 23:37driver's seat 2 years from now where he can opt out and make
- 23:40even more money. So to me, the players are, and
- 23:45that's why the owners are really forcing their hand on this.
- 23:49They're going to force their hand on it because they have no
- 23:52control right now. It's the players that have all
- 23:55the control because of all the money they're going to be
- 23:58bringing in when these contracts contracts come to fruition.
- 24:01Think about it. If you're a superstar or even a
- 24:04partial superstar in the league, let's say you're the 5th best
- 24:06player on that roster. Now you're making those fifth
- 24:10players on that roster are making no less than 30 or
- 24:1432,000,000 a year and the best players are making 40 or 50
- 24:19million a year and it's not sustainable anymore.
- 24:24And the owners are looking at that.
- 24:25So now you have guys like Tony, Tony, Tony Clark who's been out
- 24:30there, he's been in front, he's been on the front line speaking
- 24:33for the the players and and trying to figure out how this is
- 24:37going to work in negotiations in 2000, at the end of 2026, going
- 24:41into the 2027 season. And you wonder after this
- 24:47scandal, are the owners in the driver's seat because now the
- 24:51players are sitting there. We had a leader, we had a guy
- 24:55that just created a huge problem, which has been the now
- 25:00it's going to go into the season as the biggest story going into
- 25:04the baseball season, you're, you're looking forward for
- 25:06pitchers and catchers. And, and, and obviously going
- 25:09into the new season and going into spring training, you don't
- 25:12want to hear that the strength of the players union is, is
- 25:17starting to tip the owner's way. And it is, it's starting to tip
- 25:21the owner's way and, and the commissioner works for the
- 25:24owners, he doesn't work for the players.
- 25:27So the commissioner and and Rob Manfred or Manfred or Manfred as
- 25:32Jabba calls him, you sit here and you wonder how does this,
- 25:37how is this going to work with a new representative and the
- 25:41players trusting this new representative who has no
- 25:44understanding of where the negotiations were going?
- 25:47I mean, obviously he's going to, he's got all the paperwork.
- 25:51He's got all the players that were in those conversations with
- 25:53Tony Clark to give him information.
- 25:55But he's going to be the guy that's going to be standing
- 25:58there and speaking for the players in front of all these
- 26:02owners and in front of the commissioner of baseball,
- 26:05wondering how do we protect the players and how do we make sure
- 26:10there's no strike going into 2027?
- 26:13The two things I think Clark really emphasized when he was
- 26:15the head of the MLPA was the fact that they weren't going to
- 26:18have a salary cap and the pitchers that were injured and
- 26:21like I guess some of those selected position players too
- 26:23that had long term injuries with Tommy John surgery and stuff
- 26:25like that. Those that money was not going
- 26:28to come out of the of the GM's pockets, which I think helped
- 26:32him get insurance policies. You talked about that with
- 26:33Garrett Cole last year when he got hurt, that they would still
- 26:36make that money anyway and it wouldn't have to be an unpaid
- 26:39thing. And it was a good negotiation at
- 26:40the time for compromising in that sense.
- 26:43Now you look, you bring in somebody new in Bruce Meyer that
- 26:46does not have a lot of experience, is even a deputy
- 26:49executive, kind of was a figurehead for a lot of Clark's
- 26:52things. Maybe that's why guys like
- 26:53Bassett and Schuble believe that they have a still strong union,
- 26:57which I do believe they do. It's just a very difficult
- 26:59extreme as well when you're judging owners that are I think
- 27:02the most extreme in either direction too.
- 27:05It's very rare in baseball. I think compared to these other
- 27:07sports where you see owners that are on this like good middle
- 27:10ground of wanting to pay players reasonably and go from one
- 27:15extreme like the Dodgers and go to the other extreme like the
- 27:17Pirates that are cheap asses that don't that don't know how
- 27:19to control their players and don't pay anyone.
- 27:22It's rare that you see an Atlanta Braves, like Houston
- 27:24Astros type organization. That's kind of somewhere in
- 27:27between. And that's where I think you're
- 27:29also looking at the the divide to be still a lockout.
- 27:32I think even regardless of who the players association was.
- 27:35Do I still trust guys like school ball to be forceful?
- 27:38Yeah, because look at how he was in his own contract negotiations
- 27:41with the Tigers. They were a big example of that.
- 27:43He wanted arbitration case, thankfully, but the Tigers were
- 27:46low balling in the whole way. There will be samples of that to
- 27:50an extent. Will it be enough to prevent a
- 27:52lockout though in this extreme direction?
- 27:54I still don't know. I think it was even going to
- 27:56happen regardless. And I just really don't know if
- 27:58you could trust Bruce Meyer at this point to to save any
- 28:00chances of that one. Yes, there are some owners that
- 28:03still are going to try to be cheap anyway.
- 28:05But there's a lot of owners that are annoyed at what the Dodgers
- 28:07are doing now. And that's why I think they're
- 28:09still inevitably, I think regardless, going to go on
- 28:11strike as it was. There's no doubt baseball is
- 28:14going on strike. There's no doubt about it.
- 28:17This is just a story that's going to push it for that to
- 28:20happen. But Tony Clark and and the story
- 28:23and again, we don't know the full story.
- 28:25It just came out. Everybody's making jokes.
- 28:28It is funny. It's laughable because obviously
- 28:31you have a voice, the guy that has been the voice for the
- 28:34players for what, 10 years now, eight years now he's been
- 28:37running the show and and figure out negotiations.
- 28:40Remember, what was it a couple of years ago when we were
- 28:42talking about the minor leagues and what the players are making
- 28:45and, and Tony Clark was the guy that negotiated them a little
- 28:48bit more money. He was the guy that stood there
- 28:51and, and spoke about how important paying these AAA guys
- 28:55was, was not enough. And, and how are they going to
- 28:58take care of their families and, and move forward playing
- 29:01professional baseball? How are they going to last in
- 29:03the minor leagues to be the next superstar in the major leagues?
- 29:06So Tony Clark was the the face of that negotiation.
- 29:10Now, you would have expected Tony Clark was going to be the
- 29:13guy that's going to change baseball, give baseball an
- 29:16opportunity in, in this particular predicament that
- 29:20they've put themselves in. And, and, and again, the reason
- 29:23why I say the players put themselves in this situation is
- 29:25because they don't want to agree to any salary cap.
- 29:28They don't want to agree to any of it.
- 29:30And then you think about the Dodgers and what the Dodgers
- 29:32have done and a lot of the players that we've had on the
- 29:34show, not all of them, but most of them have come out and said
- 29:38that, say that they agree. If if the Dodgers want to do
- 29:40that, it's legal, why shouldn't they be able to do that?
- 29:44But here's the problem, since the Dodgers started to do that
- 29:47and everybody says, well, everybody can mimic it, that's
- 29:49not true. They cannot copycat what the
- 29:52Dodgers did. Everybody's got to agree to it.
- 29:54The every single player that they're negotiating a deal with
- 29:58has to agree to terms on how this is going to work.
- 30:03I mean, do you think Mookie Betts was sitting there?
- 30:05Now, Mookie Betts got a lot of his money and Friedman, there
- 30:07was some deferred money with Betts and Friedman.
- 30:10But I, I mean, half of these guys that we've seen over the
- 30:14last couple of years have come to an agreement because they
- 30:17want other players to come and join them to win more and more
- 30:20championships. But here's the problem with
- 30:23baseball. If you're expecting these teams
- 30:25to win championships and everybody's going to say go back
- 30:28to the Yankees in the 90's, the Yankees did not do that.
- 30:31I'll go back to it and I am going to stand up.
- 30:34Not because I'm a Yankee fan and I'm wearing a Yankee hat.
- 30:37That's not true. That's not why I'm sticking up
- 30:39for the Yankees. If anybody knows me on the show,
- 30:41I am fair about who I think the Yankees are and even all my
- 30:45teams. I'm not going to sit there and
- 30:47stick up for all my teams and be a Homer.
- 30:49I'm not Aaron Fishman. I'm just not.
- 30:53But here's the facts. Easy.
- 30:55That's true. I'm not Aaron Fishman.
- 30:57You're wearing a Yankee hat. But you know, you're right.
- 31:01Nobody wants to be. But here's the fact.
- 31:04I'm just, I'm speaking the truth here.
- 31:06I, I, I, I want to go into why I think the Yankees cannot be
- 31:11compared to what the Dodgers are today.
- 31:13One, the New York Yankees built around a core.
- 31:16They built around players they drafted over the years.
- 31:20You talk about how you define an organization, you got to define
- 31:24it in the minors. The Yankees brought in, I'll say
- 31:26it again, Derek Jeter, they drafted Bernie Williams, they
- 31:29drafted Andy Pettitte, they drafted Mariano Rivera, they
- 31:33drafted Jorge Posada. They built around a core of five
- 31:37players. They call it the core 4, but
- 31:39they were really five players. And what they did is they
- 31:42developed those players and then brought veterans around them.
- 31:45Were successful, a success, successful in their professional
- 31:50spots in the past or weren't as successful with their teams like
- 31:55Scott Brosius, who was a good player but not a great player
- 31:58until he went to the Yankees and they brought them to a team that
- 32:02had good camaraderie and and that changed everything.
- 32:05Scott Brosius became a subpar player at best to a playoff MVP.
- 32:11OK, you talk about guys like Charlie Hayes, a journeyman Wade
- 32:16Boggs, Hall of Famer. But at the tail end of his
- 32:18career, he played for Tampa, he played for obviously the Red
- 32:21Sox, played for the Yankees. His career was pretty much after
- 32:25he turned 3233 years old, his career was pretty much jumped
- 32:29from one team to another and try to figure out how to win a
- 32:32championship, which he never won with Boston.
- 32:35So you think about all the players, that's just some Rodger
- 32:38Clements, David Wells, I could go on.
- 32:39Jimmy Key, I could go on and on and on with some of the players
- 32:43they brought to this organization.
- 32:44What the Yankees did was completely different and
- 32:47everybody says they bought their players.
- 32:48They only bought their players in 2009.
- 32:51Me and Job. I've had that conversation
- 32:53again. Think about it.
- 32:54AJ Burnett, remember him. Mark Teixeira, remember him.
- 32:59CC Sabathia, remember him? They spent $500 million in an
- 33:03offseason because they wanted to win a championship.
- 33:06Actually, Hal and Hank wanted to win a championship for their
- 33:09father, who passed away in 2010, 2011.
- 33:12They wanted to make sure that their father had an opportunity
- 33:15to experience another championship before he parted
- 33:18ways with the earth. And they did that.
- 33:21But when they made a move for Alex Rodriguez, Alex Rodriguez
- 33:24was thrown to the Yankees. They failed.
- 33:27The Red Sox failed to seal the deal, and the Yankees jump in
- 33:30and stole them from them. And over the years, yeah, they
- 33:33brought Jason Giambi. They brought players in that
- 33:36didn't succeed. But what the Dodgers have done
- 33:39is completely different. And you're going to say how?
- 33:42How is it different? Simple.
- 33:43It's very simple. The Dodgers have one guy they
- 33:46drafted on their complete roster and in their lineup.
- 33:50Do you know who that is, Speedy? Π has, I believe.
- 33:53No, it's their catcher. Oh, Smith.
- 33:55Smith is their guy. He, he's the guy.
- 33:58He was the face of that offense over the last, last couple of
- 34:02years. They brought, they drafted
- 34:03Smith. They brought they, they put
- 34:05Smith centerfold as their their guy that they're, I guess they
- 34:08built around from their organization.
- 34:10And then who did they bring in? They brought in stars.
- 34:13They brought in good players, Hernandez, Edmonds, they brought
- 34:16in all these guys, Friedman bats, Otani.
- 34:20That's what they did. They bought their way into a
- 34:23championship. Look at their pitching staff.
- 34:27Are any of those guys guys that were developed by the Dodgers?
- 34:31No, they were not. So when you look at the Dodgers
- 34:34and you compare the Dodgers to the Yankees, they're
- 34:36uncomparable. They're uncomparable because
- 34:40what the Yankees did in the 90s, nobody thought was ever going to
- 34:43be matched. Why?
- 34:44Because baseball is so different now with the rule changes and
- 34:49even with 162 games, a lot of these managers aren't pitching
- 34:53them every fifth day. They're pitching them every 6th
- 34:55or 7th day because they want to save their arms for the
- 34:58playoffs. It's different.
- 35:00It's completely different because of analytics war.
- 35:03As we know, we're trying to figure out how analytics bring
- 35:07baseball to the forefront of professional sports, which it
- 35:11has been over the years. I got to give baseball a little
- 35:13bit of credit because they designed ways of adding new
- 35:16statistics and data that makes you sick to your stomach.
- 35:20It really does. I am not a statistician.
- 35:23I'm not a data analysis guy, but I sit here and I you're telling
- 35:26me what all these different analytics are different things
- 35:30that have been brought to the forefront that help baseball
- 35:34recognize you as a defensive player, a base dealer or a power
- 35:38hitter. It makes you sick to your
- 35:39stomach. And then you have guys like Tony
- 35:41Clark who sits in the back end making all the money and he's
- 35:46the guy that sits there and listens to the players woes.
- 35:49That sits there and gives the players some information of what
- 35:52the owners are saying about them and then goes there and pretty
- 35:56much sleeps with your wife or sleeps with your girlfriend or
- 35:59sleeps with your aunt or, you know, sleeps with whoever.
- 36:02I mean, it's pathetic. And now baseball, and I'll say
- 36:06this, the players union, it it it's to me, it's set up in a way
- 36:10where I don't know if Myers was the right guy unanimously being
- 36:15picked maybe as a puppet to the players.
- 36:17Maybe that's what it is. Unanimously he was picked
- 36:19because, hey, you know what? We're going to tell you what to
- 36:22say, Meyer, and you're going to do what we tell you to do and
- 36:24you're going to make millions and millions of dollars.
- 36:26If it doesn't work out well, we'll find some other idiot to
- 36:29do that too. So I think it's a big problem
- 36:32and I don't know how this is going to work for the players
- 36:35when these owners, these multi billionaires are sitting there
- 36:37with their lawyers and telling you go after yourself.
- 36:40We're going to we're we're going to drive a seat now tell Tony
- 36:43Clark to go sleep with your wives.
- 36:45Go go tell them to sleep with your aunts or uncles.
- 36:49It to me, it's really, really bad for baseball.
- 36:52This is not a story like betting on baseball or steroids as
- 36:56everybody blew it out of proportion.
- 36:58But this is bad. Really bad, yeah.
- 37:00Again, you also mentioned the discrepancy of contracts too in
- 37:03baseball. That I think is also a bigger
- 37:04extreme. I'm not saying obviously,
- 37:06obviously the Dodgers are one extreme into the other, but I
- 37:08think it seemed like the Giants, obviously they're paying Rafael
- 37:10Devers a ton of money, but their next biggest contract is not
- 37:12great. And like you said, how much is
- 37:14the fourth or fifth highest paid player on the team making?
- 37:16It might be like 15,000,000 a year or 20 million a year if
- 37:20anything. And then even the lower market
- 37:21team. So they might have that one big
- 37:22contract and they just have a big drop off after that too.
- 37:26And that's been a problem for a while.
- 37:27That was even before we're talking about this with the
- 37:29deferred money, with the lockout.
- 37:31I think that was even happening before that were remember how
- 37:33long it took somebody like Eric Hosmer to sign when he signed,
- 37:36before he signed with the Padres and it took him until the end of
- 37:39that, that spring training. The Yankees did that with
- 37:42Mayhew, I believe when they signed him too.
- 37:43Like they took forever. It really took to the end of
- 37:46that because I just weren't sure because he was a not a power
- 37:48guy. He was a bat batting champion.
- 37:50Obviously he was a good, great defensive player when the
- 37:52Yankees brought him in and then they settled on A7 year
- 37:55$81,000,000 deal, which at the time seemed like a bargain,
- 37:57maybe didn't age well, but he still was a pretty good Yankee
- 38:00for the most part until maybe the last couple years.
- 38:02And that's the problem I think that I think MLB has because
- 38:05they want to pay those stars, especially the younger stars.
- 38:07They want to pay them all very quickly.
- 38:09And that's why you're seeing obviously a Braves model that I
- 38:11think other teams are now starting to replicate, but took
- 38:14a while for them to replicate. I think Fish, you brought up
- 38:16with the A's recently. They did it with Brent Rooker,
- 38:20they did it with Langoliers. They they've done it with
- 38:22they've done it with Jacob Wilson.
- 38:23I think it was the one you were talking about.
- 38:25And now I you want to see teams replicate that to an extent with
- 38:29younger teams if they're going to be continuing to have a
- 38:31payroll discrepancy. But now with the potential
- 38:34lockout looming, like, do you want all that money going
- 38:36against you when you don't even know how these players develop
- 38:38if they take a year off from baseball?
- 38:39So there's a lot of factors in with a lot of different young
- 38:41teams and just a lot of teams all in different places.
- 38:44Yeah, no fool over there in, in I guess not Oakland anymore, I
- 38:47guess Sacramento for the time being.
- 38:50They they've jumped on that Soderstrom, Lawrence, Butler,
- 38:53other guys they've they've locked up.
- 38:56It's a smart model. The Braves did, it didn't work
- 38:58out for them because everyone got hurt this past year and they
- 39:00had some down years, but they've been really competitive because
- 39:03of that model without a top payroll.
- 39:05But this is the the worry, right, Errol?
- 39:07Now Tony Clark's gone, Meyer's in there.
- 39:10He's only been with baseball for three years, right?
- 39:12Since 20/22/23. Whatever it was as the deputy,
- 39:16how well is he going to represent the fact that the
- 39:18players have certain wants as well in this negotiation?
- 39:22It's not just this deferred money with the salary cap.
- 39:25It's also, you know, like revenue sharing.
- 39:29How is that going to work going forwards with the streaming
- 39:31dollars? That's one of the main issues,
- 39:34how the players are going to get compensated for that, how that's
- 39:37going to replace the money from the regional networks.
- 39:40Like yes, network and SNY are still doing well, but throughout
- 39:44the country these places have failed.
- 39:46Like, I think it's just like TB, like the Turner stations have
- 39:48still done. And obviously they're, they're
- 39:50bigger than a regional station, but there's, there's very few
- 39:54like baseball things that have survived.
- 39:57So the model is being changed and there's a lot of fights
- 40:00about how that money is going to go and who's got the players
- 40:03interests. Not a good look for the players.
- 40:05And they're probably better off holding out than even trying to
- 40:09make a deal right now if this is what it is, Because I, I, I'm
- 40:12really concerned. And then Clark on top of it.
- 40:14Man, it reminded me immediately of the Bobby Petrino story years
- 40:17ago. When he's like trying to get
- 40:19away on the motorcycle, he gets in an accident with his mistress
- 40:22and then they try to cover it up like, you know, he didn't have a
- 40:25mistress who he was pretending to his assistant.
- 40:27You know what I mean, Pet? Getting paid on the school dime.
- 40:29That's exactly what he did here, except it's even worse.
- 40:32It's so much worse because they have these labor talks coming up
- 40:36and now he's screwing the entire league of players on top of
- 40:39screwing his wife's sister. And then think about it.
- 40:42You're not just breaking up your marriage, you're breaking up
- 40:46like family. You're wrecking your first
- 40:48cousins, your second cousins, your aunts and the aunts and
- 40:51uncles in there. Like everything that you're like
- 40:53connected to is screwed up. And that is just I mean, that's
- 40:58all time scumbag behavior and he's got to go and I don't they
- 41:03did it. They put Meyer in because I
- 41:05think they're really desperate. They don't know what to do, He.
- 41:07Stepped down. It's not like they fired him.
- 41:09He stepped down right away. When this story came out, he
- 41:12ran, He made sure that he gave his papers in and he wants to
- 41:15disappear off the face of the earth because he not only is his
- 41:19family brought to the forefront and his wife, I feel bad for his
- 41:21wife because she's she's in the middle of this.
- 41:25She has nothing to do with it. And and she's in the middle of
- 41:28it. Think about this.
- 41:29His wife and her sister. OK, think about that.
- 41:33How how disrespectful can you get when it comes to being, you
- 41:39know, a man And and you're going to go out there and you're,
- 41:42you're all about when you get married, You're, you're there to
- 41:44death through your part. And then you're sleeping with my
- 41:47sister. How long has this been going on?
- 41:49You know, so think about it. And maybe this was the whole
- 41:52point of why you think about baseball as a whole.
- 41:56All the different allegations that we've seen over the last
- 41:59couple of years, how baseball's brushed everything under the
- 42:01rug. I was thinking, hey, this story
- 42:03came out. If if this story never came out,
- 42:05does baseball brush this under the rug?
- 42:08Because the Otani stuff, I mean, Tony Clark is not Shay Otani.
- 42:12Shay Otani is the national phenom.
- 42:15He's a superstar all over the world.
- 42:17So baseball made sure they protected their young superstar
- 42:20and made sure that they can continue making billions and
- 42:23billions of dollars. This guy the baseball don't give
- 42:25a crap about. So what did baseball do?
- 42:27Baseball and the owners, we're excited about this.
- 42:30Why? Because now they don't have to
- 42:32deal with Tony Clark anymore. They don't have to deal with his
- 42:34craziness and, and him stepping up there and, and, and telling
- 42:38the owners to go kiss that kiss their asses.
- 42:40No, now the owners are sitting there and saying, OK, we're in
- 42:44the driver's seat. We don't have to deal with Tony
- 42:46anymore. And now we have to deal with
- 42:48some rookie who knows nothing about the position he's in.
- 42:52And and you have a bunch of billionaires saying, OK, this is
- 42:55what we're going to do. You don't like it, Well, tough.
- 42:57This is the deal we're giving you.
- 42:58If not, what you guys can go to strike.
- 43:00We're still going to be in the driver's seat.
- 43:02And you guys are going to be asking for scraps because we're
- 43:05not going to give it to you the way you have asked over the
- 43:08years. Because the union has always
- 43:10been in the driver's seat. The players union has always
- 43:13been that way. And we we know what happened in
- 43:159596 because of what happened in 9596 is the same thing what
- 43:20we've seen over the years. But here's the bad thing.
- 43:22We have seen organizations completely fall apart as we know
- 43:26what happened to the Expos. The Montreal Expos could not
- 43:29afford to miss that season, that year and they did.
- 43:33And with being that they lost all that money they had to sell
- 43:36the team and eventually Jeffrey Laurie move them to where to
- 43:41Washington and in in Montreal. And I believe if the if that if
- 43:469596, it never went to strike baseball, never went to strike
- 43:50Montreal. The Montreal Expos would still
- 43:52be here. They'd still be a part of the
- 43:54major leagues, and probably. They were the best team in the
- 43:56league, Errol that year. They were the best team in the
- 43:59league, probably would have won the World Series too.
- 44:01That's, that's that was my take there.
- 44:03I with all the talent that they had, Pedro Martinez and Vladimir
- 44:06Guerrero and all those talented players that have Galarrago I
- 44:10think was on that team. They had guys that are Hall of
- 44:12Famers. They might have had 7.
- 44:14Walker. Yes, 7 or 8 Hall of Famers that
- 44:17were part of that organization and they were traded away, moved
- 44:20away. I remember John Wetland, he was
- 44:23the Yankees closer when they won, they won their first
- 44:26championship in 96. So the Yankees were absolutely
- 44:29in the driver's seat when they got players of that, that Expo
- 44:32team. So I'm just saying when you look
- 44:35at where baseball's at now, I don't think any teams are in
- 44:37those predicaments anymore because there's so much money to
- 44:40be made with the new TV deals and, and all, all the different
- 44:44ways they can make money off of hats and jerseys and and merch.
- 44:48There's no way that any of these teams are in, in bad, a bad
- 44:51position where if they miss the season or owners, they miss the
- 44:54season, they're they're going to lose out.
- 44:56They're not because they own other businesses and they have
- 44:59other opportunities to make money.
- 45:01It's the players that are going to lose out on this.
- 45:03After what Tony Clark did. This is bad.
- 45:05This is, this is bad for the players, not the owners, not for
- 45:09baseball. And I know everybody's going to
- 45:11say, well, the owners want baseball to keep on going.
- 45:13And, and I'm, I do believe that I think the owners are behind
- 45:16what they want baseball to do in 2000, 26 and 27.
- 45:20That's as far as 27 season is, is to have a season.
- 45:24Here's the problem. If they miss the season and they
- 45:28lose money, they have ways that they can use that through
- 45:31insurance policies. There are so many ways that
- 45:34these owners are still not going to lose as much.
- 45:37But not having a season, the, the fans are going to lose out.
- 45:40The players are going to lose out.
- 45:41Remember, each player that missed the season, they miss out
- 45:44another year of money and another year of compensation
- 45:48that that they're going to lose. And you're talking about players
- 45:51like Garrett Cole that's going to miss out on $38 million.
- 45:55How about, how about Juan Soto, $68 million he's going to miss
- 45:59out on. You think Juan Soto wants to
- 46:01miss out on $68 million? Not a chance in hell.
- 46:04Because if I'm not mistaken, if you go on strike, you don't get
- 46:07those contracts, you don't get that money.
- 46:08I don't. I don't know if that's true.
- 46:10So there's labor lockout. The contracts are null and void
- 46:13until they come back. That's right.
- 46:14So think about this. Juan Soto misses out on 68,
- 46:19$1,000,000. They don't want that.
- 46:21Players do not want that. So they thought by having Tony
- 46:25Clark negotiate this deal before September 1st, that would put
- 46:29them in a driver's seat to have a season in 2027.
- 46:32There is no way there. It's going to start the season
- 46:34without without going on a strike because they got to pull
- 46:38the first of all, you're going into a season and a lot of these
- 46:40players want to concentrate on the season.
- 46:43The union doesn't want these players to worry about next
- 46:46season. They want to worry about this
- 46:47season and how they they, they, they fight to, to continue
- 46:50making their money and, and get these teams into the playoffs
- 46:53and win a championship. So they're not even going to be
- 46:56speaking about until September 1st or September, you know, in
- 46:59sometime in September when the playoffs are going on and the
- 47:02seasons practically over. So unfortunately you're
- 47:06wondering as a baseball fan, and I know there's a lot of baseball
- 47:08fans, including Speedy, who it's just favorite sport, Josh
- 47:11Silverberg, who, which is his favorite sport out of all the
- 47:14sports that don't want to see another or one season of their
- 47:18God-given lives miss when it comes to baseball and getting a
- 47:22chance, Oh, quote, UN quote, the Mets winning the World Series.
- 47:25But the Mets and the Dodgers are the reason why this strike might
- 47:28go to fruition because of all the money that they've been
- 47:30spending and, and, and obviously the deferred money that the
- 47:34Dodgers completely have taken. Take an advantage.
- 47:36Of yeah, that's aren't smart enough to use deferred money,
- 47:38unfortunately. Well, they are actually.
- 47:40They did with the contract with Beau Beauchet.
- 47:44Finally, after all these big contracts before that, Max Shers
- 47:47are Justin Verlander. Yeah, they did.
- 47:48So that's the thing though, right?
- 47:49Like that's why the owners want a salary cap, because most of
- 47:53the owners in the league don't want to do the deferred dollars,
- 47:56because what the deferred dollars are is just what stock
- 48:00guys do, hedge funds guys do on Wall Street all the time.
- 48:04They're just creating future debt against the value of the
- 48:07franchise, which isn't worth close to the value.
- 48:10So it's just like, it doesn't matter.
- 48:13It's like they're trading stocks and the future debt, it doesn't
- 48:17apply. They don't have to pay instead
- 48:18of revenue sharing the same if it's deferred to a later
- 48:21contract. So it's like a loophole that
- 48:23they're exploiting. And until other teams do the
- 48:27same thing as the Dodgers and leverage their future with debt,
- 48:31they're going to keep winning. Or you do a salary capping and
- 48:36just nip it in the bud. Or you just say no more deferred
- 48:39contracts exceeding this amount of money and all the deferred
- 48:41money has to count against both today's salary cap and and then
- 48:44the penalty when it you know you're paying it out like Bobby
- 48:47Bonilla style. Speaking of deferred, LeBron
- 48:50James is back in the tabloids, ladies and gentlemen, ESP.
- 48:54NS Brian Windhorst reports that LeBron James has a 99% chance to
- 48:59return to Cleveland if he is willing to take a pay cut next
- 49:04season. LeBron has a player option on
- 49:07his current deal worth about 52.6 million and a full no trade
- 49:12clause. Reports say that he's unlikely
- 49:15to sign his player option unless he can work work a sign and
- 49:19trade with the Lakers to wherever he wants to go.
- 49:24Wonder Windhor says that only what the only way the Cavaliers
- 49:29would be interested in bringing him back is if he plays for a
- 49:34veterans veterans minimum or a deal That would still keep the
- 49:39Cavaliers under the mid level tax exception, which next year
- 49:44is projected to be just over 14,000,000.
- 49:49The Cavaliers still believe that LeBron James can be a highly
- 49:52productive player in small spurts, but knows that he is not
- 49:58the same two way player for for the regular season.
- 50:02Windhor says that Donovan Mitchell is fully on board with
- 50:05bringing LeBron James, saying it would be a dream to play with
- 50:10somebody he grew up watching. LeBron is averaging 22 points
- 50:15per game, 7/7 .1 assists per game, 5.8 rebounds per game with
- 50:21a 50.2% field goal percentage in 36 games for the Lakers this
- 50:28season. Uh oh, are you hearing this
- 50:32ladies and gentlemen? Are the Cavaliers trying to buy
- 50:34their way into another championship?
- 50:38That's here's the thing, I like LeBron James.
- 50:42Everybody thinks that. I hate the guy I write all these
- 50:44stories to, to take shots at this man.
- 50:47I think he's the second greatest basketball player to ever play
- 50:49in the NBA. If you want to make him the
- 50:51third, if you think Kareem Abdul Jabbar is there or Magic Johnson
- 50:54or Larry Bird, whoever, Will Chamberlain, whoever, Bill
- 50:58Russell, you want to put him there at second, Nobody's better
- 51:01than Michael Jordan. I don't care what LeBron James
- 51:03says today or what he says after he retires 20 years from now.
- 51:07He's not better than Michael Jordan, but the Cavaliers with
- 51:12the roster they have in play and in place, they can absolutely
- 51:17win with LeBron James with Mobley and Mitchell and the
- 51:22talent that that James Harden. Now, I don't know how that
- 51:24works, but if there's anybody that can play with James Harden
- 51:27and get James Harden playing at a top level, it's LeBron James.
- 51:31And how about this trading James Harden for Kyrie Irving?
- 51:36Would you would you think that's a little outlandish?
- 51:39I don't know. Kyrie Irving going back to the
- 51:42same team that drafted him. That makes sense.
- 51:45Now, I do believe Dallas is going to be looking to trade
- 51:49Kyrie Irving if he comes back 100% healthy.
- 51:52I do believe that. And why not bring the two guys
- 51:55that were there when they won a championship and knocked off the
- 51:58Golden State Warriors? LeBron James is a unique
- 52:02individual. He is not as defensively savvy
- 52:05as he's been over the years. This guy could have won
- 52:08defensive player of the year at the top of his game probably
- 52:11five times. Never did because at the time
- 52:14you had Draymond Green, you had all these guys.
- 52:16Go Bear. There is a lot of great
- 52:18defensive players in the league. And as good as LeBron is, LeBron
- 52:22was the best player in the world.
- 52:23They're not going to. Michael Jordan I think is the
- 52:25last player I could remember that one defensive player of the
- 52:28year, the MVP and won a championship in the same year.
- 52:32I I think he's the only player that's ever done that.
- 52:37But LeBron James is a guy that you can win with a guy going
- 52:42back home to Cleveland, a guy that's been back in Cleveland
- 52:45not once, but twice. And now this would be 1/3 time
- 52:49and to go and, and try to win a championship with Cleveland.
- 52:52And here's the thing, LeBron going over there to Cleveland
- 52:55automatically makes him the favorite to come out of the
- 52:58East, even with the Knicks as good as they are in position,
- 53:01unless they get Giannis. If the Knicks get Giannis, I
- 53:04would say the Knicks are probably highly favorites are
- 53:06coming out of the East. But if the Knicks don't land
- 53:08Giannis or if that doesn't happen, I, I, I would say
- 53:11Cleveland is the favorite with the talent that they have over
- 53:14there. I don't know how it's going to
- 53:16work with the coaching staff, but I, unless LeBron James,
- 53:20we've seen this before. We've seen this before with, you
- 53:23know, the Cleveland Cavaliers coach over there.
- 53:25And you know, I, I love him because I root for him.
- 53:27He's a Long Island native, but if LeBron James wants JJ Redick
- 53:32there or whoever he wants Tyron Lew was because he's probably
- 53:36getting fired at the end of the season.
- 53:39Thank you Clippers, but this story that LeBron James wants to
- 53:44go home and 9099% chance that he could go home.
- 53:48I don't think this is much of a story because it's very
- 53:51expected. If LeBron James wants to play
- 53:54another year won't be with the Lakers.
- 53:55I said that a couple of months ago.
- 53:57There's no way LeBron James goes back to the Lakers the way
- 54:00they're built. It's Lucas team now.
- 54:02It's not his and he knows it. And how do you know it?
- 54:06Because during the offseason when Luka Doncha got that
- 54:09extension, he was the only one of that his teammates, Lucas
- 54:14teammates that didn't show up to the press conference.
- 54:16Everybody else did, which tells you that LeBron James don't give
- 54:20a crap, but LeBron James loves Cleveland.
- 54:25Did you see his final game in Cleveland this year?
- 54:28Him going back home and they have all the videos and, and all
- 54:31the, the success that he had over there.
- 54:33The King coming from, you know, the, the place that he grew up
- 54:37in. It's, it's a great story.
- 54:40I'm not taking shots at LeBron James's success.
- 54:42I mean, if you look at his numbers, 22, seven and five,
- 54:45it's nothing to sneeze about. I mean, this guy, I mean, he's
- 54:4940 something years old and he's putting up these kind of
- 54:51numbers. It's pretty amazing.
- 54:54But here's the thing, as good as LeBron James has been in the
- 54:58year in his career and what he stood for, for the league and,
- 55:02and everything of that magnitude, how many things has
- 55:06LeBron James done throughout his last 10 years that make you
- 55:10shake your head? The brawny James story is a is a
- 55:13story that's going to be held in, in many people's opinions,
- 55:17probably the for the next 20 years.
- 55:19This is not the fact that LeBron wants to play with his son Bryce
- 55:23and and maybe Bryce gets drafted by Cleveland.
- 55:26I I don't see it, especially if LeBron goes there and Donovan
- 55:29Mitchell and and all them are there because Bryce is expected
- 55:32to be a lottery pick. Not this year, but maybe next
- 55:35year. So I don't know how that works
- 55:38unless somehow Cleveland negotiates a deal or LeBron
- 55:40James spins his magic wand and and gets Bryce to play with him
- 55:46over there and gets Bronie to be traded over there with from the
- 55:48Lakers, which I don't think anybody wants Bronie.
- 55:50So that might be a shoe in for LeBron James to make that move.
- 55:54But the league is run by LeBron James.
- 55:57He's run the league so to think that that he has a no trade
- 56:02clause and him taking less money wouldn't be beneficial for his
- 56:05brand, it absolutely would. Think about it, LeBron James
- 56:09doesn't get the 52.6 million he takes a pay cut.
- 56:12Let's say he takes 15,000,000 next year, Mike, 15,000,000.
- 56:18They get a chance to win a championship and he wins his
- 56:20fifth championship, which ties Kobe Bryant.
- 56:23You know how much money that brings to his forefront in the
- 56:26future? With all his endorsements and
- 56:28all the sponsors that he has, you're talking about hundreds of
- 56:31millions of dollars. So if you look at it in LeBron
- 56:34James's way, the guy's 42 years old, going to be 42.
- 56:39He's a multi billionaire, He's a richest athlete in professional
- 56:42sports right now. What does he own?
- 56:44He owns his own production company.
- 56:46He owns everything. His own podcast, which is
- 56:49probably one of the top five podcasts for basketball in the
- 56:52country. I mean, everything the guy
- 56:54touches turns to gold. So do you think unless he's that
- 56:58greedy, and I don't think LeBron James is as greedy as people
- 57:00think he is when it comes to money, because he's going to
- 57:02make money hand over fist no matter what.
- 57:05He's got his own insurance company so he doesn't need 52.6
- 57:10million but if his greed is is going to be there then he would
- 57:14take it if it was Dwyane Wade or Chris Bosh.
- 57:16I don't see Chris Bosh or Dwyane Wade taking a pay cut to go and
- 57:20play for his hometown LeBron. LeBron James 100%, 100%.
- 57:26If LeBron James has an opportunity to go over there and
- 57:30and get to play with his home hometown.
- 57:32I know he doesn't. He's not a big fan of the owner.
- 57:35We all know that. But he gets to go and play with
- 57:37Donovan Mitchell and that kind of talent and they don't have to
- 57:40trade anything. It's another John Tavares move.
- 57:43I mean, but John Tavares never won.
- 57:45LeBron James goes there. He's almost a shoe in.
- 57:48Unless Giannis goes to the Knicks to be the contender to
- 57:51come out of the East. Yeah, and we talked about the
- 57:53NBA being rigged, its angle, too.
- 57:55You know, the refs are going to be on their side.
- 57:57Oh, we want this amazing story. Yeah.
- 57:59You want this amazing storyline if this is Lebron's final year,
- 58:02to go win it with this core in Cleveland once again, because
- 58:05that was the storylines before. That's why the Cavs and the
- 58:07Warriors played four straight years in the Finals because
- 58:09those two teams just got very popular.
- 58:11LeBron versus Steph Curry, who's the, quote, UN quote, face of
- 58:13the era, which I got overblown a bit because LeBron was always
- 58:17better than Steph Curry. But nevertheless, there were
- 58:19people that like our friend Owen, that believe that Steph
- 58:22Curry was better. It's the young fan.
- 58:24They loved the fact that this guy who came into the league, by
- 58:27the way, grew 2 inches after the fact he came to the NBA.
- 58:30Remember when he came into the NBA, he was like 6 foot less
- 58:33than he was almost at six one, He grew like 2 1/2 inches over
- 58:38the last couple of years and now he's 6 foot 3.
- 58:40So he wasn't the guy that's going to do these tomahawk
- 58:43dunks. He wasn't a Jaylen Bronson that
- 58:46can get up there and jam the ball.
- 58:47As a matter of fact, I think Steph Curry in his career has
- 58:50jammed the ball no more than 8 or 10 times.
- 58:52Yeah, I probably I was it's funny because I was I was
- 58:55editing the you guys you have the Chris Paul short on Monday
- 58:57would dial it up and I was editing the video for that.
- 58:59There was like 1 pop up video that said every time Chris Paul
- 59:02tried to dug and Chris Paul was probably not the same size as
- 59:04Steph Curry. So think about that.
- 59:05But yeah, it's one of those things where with the Cavs right
- 59:09now, I think Kobe Altman, the GM is trying to not turning it into
- 59:12the LeBron has to control everything types in now.
- 59:15Obviously it's gonna be for one year if they do take this kind
- 59:17of thing on. And financially is it maybe I I
- 59:20mean, I I guess maybe there's a chance for us.
- 59:22How about? This if he's willing to take
- 59:24less money and you want to spread out the contract and you
- 59:28want to make sure that he gets 52.6 million, you get, you
- 59:32extend him, you give him one year with a player's option and
- 59:35he gets what, twenty, 22 million or 20 million next year or
- 59:4019,000,000 next year. And then his final year on his
- 59:43farewell tour, he makes 23 million.
- 59:46He's not making 56 or 52,000,000, but he's making,
- 59:49what, $15 million less? And he gets a farewell tour and
- 59:53he gets all the options. And.
- 59:55And by the way, it's a chance to win another title, which would
- 59:57tie Kobe Bryant, maybe wins two of them and ties Michael Jordan,
- 1:00:02where he says I'm the greatest, I'm the greatest.
- 1:00:05So think about that, yeah. That's where I feel like he
- 1:00:07might still have to make that kind of move anyway because this
- 1:00:09core for the Cavs has grown pretty organically outside of
- 1:00:12obviously the Donna Mitchell trade was a trade, but this
- 1:00:14Corey grown pretty organically before that.
- 1:00:17But they've had issues in the playoffs.
- 1:00:18They lost against the Pacers last year when they were the
- 1:00:20number one seed. They were the most efficient
- 1:00:22team, I believe, besides the Nuggets two years ago in NBA
- 1:00:25history and they still lost in five games to granted, they were
- 1:00:29kind of banged up, but they still lost in five games to an
- 1:00:31Indiana Pacers team that they had a lot more talent than last
- 1:00:33year. And this year they finally got
- 1:00:35some good depth of three-point shooting.
- 1:00:36So it is a good chord that has a chance.
- 1:00:38But if they still fail in the playoffs again, regardless of,
- 1:00:41yeah, they're not the better team than the Knicks or the
- 1:00:42Pistons or anything like that, but it's still an East that we
- 1:00:45know is not as good as the West. So if they don't win the East
- 1:00:48again this year, they might feel like, OK, we need a guy that can
- 1:00:50still elevate themselves in the playoffs.
- 1:00:51And James Harden definitely is not going to be that guy.
- 1:00:54And I agree with you, I think James Harden for Kyrie Irving
- 1:00:56swap makes a lot of sense because Kyrie Irving is not the
- 1:00:59usage rate guy that James Harden is.
- 1:01:01And Donovan Mitchell can definitely be helped by that.
- 1:01:04And obviously they're going to fans are going to embrace it.
- 1:01:06The fans love LeBron, obviously the fans love Kyrie.
- 1:01:08And if they can make the money work, which I think they can, I
- 1:01:10think Altman is a smart enough guy to make that kind of thing
- 1:01:13work. It definitely makes sense if
- 1:01:15LeBron is willing to take it worse.
- 1:01:16He is going to take it because it's going to help him build his
- 1:01:19brand over there in Cleveland. Remember all the billboards they
- 1:01:22had over there when LeBron James was there?
- 1:01:24King is back over Cleveland, and everybody knows that Cleveland's
- 1:01:28a great time a town. We've heard it from Goody, we've
- 1:01:31heard it from Jabba. They all said Cleveland's a
- 1:01:33wonderful place to be when it comes to sports.
- 1:01:36So the billboards would the King is back, Your Majesty is back to
- 1:01:41win another title. I mean, it would be huge for his
- 1:01:44brand. So to sit here and say, oh,
- 1:01:47well, he's going to lose about $40 million.
- 1:01:49Is he really? I don't see it.
- 1:01:51And LeBron James owns restaurants over there in
- 1:01:53Cleveland. He's from Akron.
- 1:01:55I mean, I mean, it's great. Even some of the, I mean, sorry,
- 1:01:59I, I was saying, I would say contract, but not contracts.
- 1:02:02All the different school activities he's built in the
- 1:02:05summertime for these children over there in Akron and in
- 1:02:08Cleveland would be beneficial for him to be there and promote
- 1:02:12it and build it even more. So those organizations, those
- 1:02:15sponsors, those investors that are helping LeBron James take it
- 1:02:19to another level. What do you think they're going
- 1:02:20to do? They're going to pay him.
- 1:02:22So he's not losing anything. He's gaining for, and I'll tell
- 1:02:27you this, Le Bron James is one of the more unique and
- 1:02:31intelligent business owners. He the guy knows how to run a
- 1:02:36unique business. He wanted to create a production
- 1:02:39company. He loves Space Jam.
- 1:02:40He grew up a Michael Jordan. Well, he's the king.
- 1:02:42He's the best player the NBA seen since Michael Jordan in his
- 1:02:45eyes. So what did they do?
- 1:02:47They remade the Space Jam saga and who did they bring in?
- 1:02:51They brought in his production company to run it.
- 1:02:54Now you have NBA players like how about this Steph Curry, the
- 1:02:57GOAT? I mean that new, that new
- 1:03:00cartoon that they've they've put together and Steph Curry's
- 1:03:03written it and he's been, I don't think he's a voice in it,
- 1:03:05but he's like the director of it.
- 1:03:07I mean, now all these NBA players are now have their hands
- 1:03:10dipped into all these different businesses and ways that they
- 1:03:13can bring their brands to the forefront.
- 1:03:16LeBron James knows how to build a brand.
- 1:03:18He's copycatted as everybody has of Michael Jordan.
- 1:03:22Air Jordan is not just a name, It's not just a brand.
- 1:03:25It's a livelihood you have if you don't own a sneaker, a pair
- 1:03:29of sneakers, if you don't own a pair of Jordans.
- 1:03:31Every one of us, I guarantee you, every one of us, or at
- 1:03:35least I would say 90% of Americans, own a pair of
- 1:03:39Jordans. Why?
- 1:03:41Why? Because of who Michael Jordan
- 1:03:43was, what he stood for, dominance, and who he is as a
- 1:03:47player. It's pretty unique.
- 1:03:49It really is. There's nothing more to say and
- 1:03:52nothing to argue about that. As far as the LeBron James saga
- 1:03:55and the story, the only thing I could say and finish off as far
- 1:03:59as I'm concerned with LeBron James is if LeBron James
- 1:04:03believes that the Cleveland Cavaliers have a chance to win a
- 1:04:08championship if he goes there, why wouldn't he sign an
- 1:04:11extension to try to win #6 Think about that.
- 1:04:15He is always said that he's the greatest basketball player of
- 1:04:19all time. That's what he says.
- 1:04:20He's argued that he's been on the SPS numerous amount of times
- 1:04:24and he's got his own friends and family and even his old
- 1:04:28teammates like Carmelo Anthony who played with him at this tail
- 1:04:30end of his career or even Chris Paul or Dwyane Wade or Chris
- 1:04:35Bosh that believe cold heartedly that LeBron James is the
- 1:04:38greatest basketball player of all time.
- 1:04:40Well, if that is true, why aren't you trying to break the
- 1:04:44the greatest basketball player as we believe of all time?
- 1:04:48Michael Jordan's number of six, That doesn't mean that he's
- 1:04:52going to be compared to Michael Jordan because Michael Jordan
- 1:04:55won 3 championships back-to-back times and did it in a way that I
- 1:04:59don't think we'll ever see a player do it.
- 1:05:01But the fact here is if he wants to consider it and he wants to
- 1:05:05challenge people on the argument, well, how many
- 1:05:08championships you have? You got to win 6, you got to win
- 1:05:116. And that's all I'm going to say
- 1:05:12about LeBron James as far as I'm concerned.
- 1:05:15And I, I think that that's an interesting take.
- 1:05:17And I think if I was LeBron James's agent or I was, which by
- 1:05:21the way, I don't even think his best friend.
- 1:05:23Oh, is that rich, Paul? Anymore, I don't think Rich Paul
- 1:05:25is his. Agent anymore mighty have fallen
- 1:05:27or. I think.
- 1:05:29I think they're no longer working together as far as I'm
- 1:05:31concerned. Allegedly mighty have fallen.
- 1:05:33Rich, Paul. I'm not positive on that, but I
- 1:05:36I was reading a story. I don't think Rich Paul and him
- 1:05:38are working together anymore. And they and they grew grew up
- 1:05:41together as far as Rich Paul pretty much made a name for
- 1:05:44himself. Oh, they are I I'm pretty sure I
- 1:05:48read something that they're. Not if they're not, it must be
- 1:05:51because of that great Roddy James.
- 1:05:52I'm never going to get anywhere in the NBA.
- 1:05:54It's interesting. I honestly, it doesn't really
- 1:05:56matter. Rich Paul has been one of the
- 1:05:59worst negotiators in the NBA and, and everybody drives to him
- 1:06:03because of who will LeBron James is.
- 1:06:05He's been LeBron James is confidant and, and everything
- 1:06:09LeBron James touches when it comes to business has turned to
- 1:06:11gold. I I'm not lying about that.
- 1:06:13Go look at what LeBron James has done.
- 1:06:15So anyways, all right, ladies and gentlemen, we call this the
- 1:06:19Concrete Jungle Carousel. We have the concrete jungle and
- 1:06:22we're going to start off with some basketball news because
- 1:06:26it's the only sport that's really in season currently.
- 1:06:29So starting off, Jalen Brunson talked to Vanity Fair, Errol, he
- 1:06:34wants to be paid a massive contract in 2028 and said that
- 1:06:39he made sacrifices for the Knicks to build a championship
- 1:06:42contender beginning with his four year $156,000,000 contract
- 1:06:47when he could have waited and got in a five year, $269 million
- 1:06:52Max contract. Obviously he'll be eligible for
- 1:06:55a bigger contract than that with the inflation. 2028 four year
- 1:06:59323, supermax deal. He waits an extra year, five
- 1:07:03years 418. It looks like the Knicks are
- 1:07:07going to try to do well by him because let's face it, they did
- 1:07:12build a contender. There's no question and I do
- 1:07:15believe Jalen Brunson has taken less over the last two
- 1:07:19contracts. Remember when he he signed with
- 1:07:21the Knicks? He signed, I think it was a two
- 1:07:22or three-year deal worth about 60 something million.
- 1:07:24What a steal because Jalen Brunson became a superstar here
- 1:07:28in New York, became the face the captain El Capitan, as Hart says
- 1:07:32on his on their podcast. So we we understand what type of
- 1:07:36player he is. He could go down as the greatest
- 1:07:38nick of all time. But here's the thing.
- 1:07:41Does it benefit the Knicks to give him a $450 million deal for
- 1:07:46five, five years if he wants to win multiple championships?
- 1:07:50He has a chance now if the Knicks bring it together and
- 1:07:54continue to build this with Leon Rose and worldwide W to win
- 1:07:58multiple championships, not one and become, I wouldn't say a
- 1:08:01dynasty, but one of the elite teams that they have not been in
- 1:08:04over the last 50 years. So if I was Jalen Brunson, I
- 1:08:08understand he's in New York. Taxes are high, but you have an
- 1:08:12opportunity to make money in many different ways with some of
- 1:08:15the sponsors. You you're going to get more
- 1:08:17being here than anywhere else. Why would you take a 5, a 500
- 1:08:22million or 400 and $50 million Max contract if you know it's
- 1:08:25going to hurt the team? That's the only thing I'm going
- 1:08:26to argue. I'm not taking shots at Jalen
- 1:08:28Brunson. I love Jalen Brunson.
- 1:08:30He deserves a big contract. I just, it doesn't hold well for
- 1:08:34the Knicks. Doesn't help the Knicks if he
- 1:08:36takes that kind of contract. Yeah, I worry about it with the
- 1:08:38injury history too, because he's always had one injury or maybe
- 1:08:41even 2 in some seasons per year too.
- 1:08:43Now you're going into at the 2028, you're approaching 30
- 1:08:46years old at that point. Is it going to be worth it for
- 1:08:49even giving the four year 323? I think if they can make it
- 1:08:51work, if he stays healthy, the four years, 323 might be good.
- 1:08:55I wouldn't do the five years, 423 or whatever it is after
- 1:08:59that. I do worry about the injury
- 1:09:01history. Fish, I was telling you in the
- 1:09:02read off, they're like smaller guards.
- 1:09:04Look at somebody like Damian Lillard, who barely has played a
- 1:09:06lot with Portland. Now even this year with
- 1:09:08Milwaukee, I worry about that kind of thing.
- 1:09:09I don't worry about the injuries.
- 1:09:11I'm worried about how it benefits them to give them that
- 1:09:13contract to bring in free agents and be in a championship
- 1:09:16contending team. And by the way, they just gave
- 1:09:19up five first round draft picks for Mikhail Bridges.
- 1:09:22And every other year they're going to be getting those
- 1:09:24contracts, getting those picks and, and, and be being that the
- 1:09:28Knicks are so good, those picks are going to be bad.
- 1:09:31But as these guys get older, they're only going to get worse
- 1:09:35and eventually they're going to fall flat on their face.
- 1:09:37And those picks could be lottery.
- 1:09:38Picks, yeah, we talked about it too, like the Knicks are kind of
- 1:09:41in that three-year core for a championship as it is.
- 1:09:43And that's where a lot of those picks, I think outside of the
- 1:09:45last one, are going to be in. So if the if the Knicks don't
- 1:09:48win a championship in that span, yeah, then maybe you're starting
- 1:09:50to question it with the core. But if they do and yeah, maybe
- 1:09:53there's a little more leeway to get Brunts in the deal.
- 1:09:54But if they don't, yeah, there's some questions.
- 1:09:58Yeah, you know, the other team in New York should be mentioned.
- 1:10:01Brooklyn Nets are in full on tank mode right now.
- 1:10:05Porter junior is playing tonight, but the it's not close.
- 1:10:10We mentioned Cleveland earlier. Cleveland is whooping up on the
- 1:10:14Nets as we speak in the first half.
- 1:10:15It's not they're already up by like 20 something.
- 1:10:17They're 15 and 38 right now. They're being, they're talking
- 1:10:21about being drafting unless they hit big on the lottery somewhere
- 1:10:24between 4:00 and 7:00 in this year's draft.
- 1:10:27So I wanted to pull up ESPN's big board of draft prospects
- 1:10:31that are in the four to seven range right now.
- 1:10:33The top three are Peterson, Debansa and then Boozer at 3,
- 1:10:38according to ESPN. This is from a week ago.
- 1:10:40Boozer sitting there. For I'm jumping on him and I'm
- 1:10:43opening with, I'm opening my doors with wide hugs and kisses
- 1:10:49because I think he's the best player in this draft camp.
- 1:10:52Boozer, I'm hearing that like the top three, it's like a top
- 1:10:54three and then everybody else type of a draft.
- 1:10:57So I'd be shocked if he gets out of the three.
- 1:10:59But 4 is sitting there is Caleb Wilson from North Carolina.
- 1:11:02He's 610 and 19 years old. He's.
- 1:11:06A pretty darn good ball handler and shoot shooter for a guy
- 1:11:10who's 610 and still growing into his frame.
- 1:11:13People are very excited about him.
- 1:11:15Obviously he's got the hand injury, but he's someone to
- 1:11:18watch. The Houston kid.
- 1:11:19Flemings is 5. Kingston Flemings another 19
- 1:11:24year old freshman. People are talking about him.
- 1:11:26He had a 42 point game against Texas Tech last month.
- 1:11:30Big time player for a team that's a top five team.
- 1:11:34Then you have Waggler from Illinois who's got big numbers
- 1:11:38and a Mint who we've heard a lot about as well from Tennessee,
- 1:11:43another 610 wing type. You know one of these you kind
- 1:11:47of freak athlete types sitting there.
- 1:11:49After that, you have a couple of names from Arkansas.
- 1:11:52Cuff junior Mikhail Brown from Louisville puts up points in a
- 1:11:56hurry at 45 points against the NC State.
- 1:11:59And rounding out the top ten, they have some guy from New
- 1:12:02Zealand. I think that no matter where the
- 1:12:05Nets are sitting and and the Nets could actually jump from 4
- 1:12:08or 5 or even 7 to 1 and they'll get a top three player, the Nets
- 1:12:12are going to do whatever it takes to try to get one of those
- 1:12:15top three players. But this is a good draft.
- 1:12:18We've heard this many, many times by many different guests
- 1:12:21that we've had on the show in the past said that 2027 is the
- 1:12:25year to make sure you you scavenge up as many draft picks
- 1:12:29you possibly can. And the Nets have done it.
- 1:12:31I think the Nets could really rebuild their team if they he
- 1:12:34could get a Cam Boozer there or, or, or one of these young studs,
- 1:12:38maybe a Wilson. They get one of these guys and
- 1:12:40then build around the other two picks that they have later in
- 1:12:43the in the first round and the the amount of money that they
- 1:12:46have in free agency. And honestly, Porter junior
- 1:12:50could be traded in the offseason to get themselves another first
- 1:12:53round talent. So I I think they're in the
- 1:12:55driver's seat. The Nets are not going to be
- 1:12:57good for another, I would say probably 5 years.
- 1:13:01They have Sean Marks at least they have stability over there
- 1:13:04in, you know, as an executive, he's been there a long, long
- 1:13:07time. I remember when he was brought
- 1:13:08in taking over from the Spurs and he's still in the driver's
- 1:13:13seat. So maybe if they can get the
- 1:13:15right guy in there and the and they put the right players in
- 1:13:17position, they can draw a free agents like free agent like
- 1:13:20Giannis of that magnitude to come and play over there.
- 1:13:23So it's a possibility. Yeah, it's interesting because
- 1:13:25Sean Marks, I think when he, when they brought him over
- 1:13:28there, they brought him there to do the rebuild.
- 1:13:30And obviously Billy King was the best that he had inherited.
- 1:13:34And Kenny? He created the mess.
- 1:13:36But yeah, Billy King, Billy King and.
- 1:13:38Sean March created a mess over there too.
- 1:13:40I was going to say if he learns from his mistake and not do that
- 1:13:43kind of thing again, when you're trading all these good young
- 1:13:46players for Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant and James Harden,
- 1:13:48who they won two playoff series, congratulations with that
- 1:13:52amazing big three, and they couldn't even sell playoff
- 1:13:54tickets there. Yeah, if he doesn't do that
- 1:13:57again, then you actually let it build organically like you've
- 1:13:59seen the Rockets do now, like you said, obviously.
- 1:14:01OK, see, that's the model you really want to get on before
- 1:14:03that big trade with Shake of the Styles and Jalen Williams.
- 1:14:06If they do that, yeah, they'll be in good shape.
- 1:14:07Otherwise, yeah, it'll still be same old Nets.
- 1:14:10Well, they got a lot of young guys.
- 1:14:12You would assume that they're gathering them to trade for
- 1:14:15somebody big to pair with hopefully a top three guy into
- 1:14:18this year's draft. It would make sense on a lot of
- 1:14:21levels. But again, this is a Nets
- 1:14:23franchise that seems to get it wrong a lot.
- 1:14:25Let's go to baseball. I think it's it's time we talk
- 1:14:27about some offseason baseball. Let's start in the Bronx with
- 1:14:31the Yanks, friend of the show Brian Hoke reports.
- 1:14:34Aaron Judge called the Yankees offseason tough to watch,
- 1:14:39especially when they were very passive early on with the winter
- 1:14:42meetings. Watching the Mets sign guys away
- 1:14:46from the Yankees, watching the Red Sox make trade after trade.
- 1:14:49The Orioles sign guys. Pete Alonzo adding pitching.
- 1:14:53He the ads, Judge ad man. We're the New York Yankees.
- 1:14:57Let's go out there and get the right people, the right pieces
- 1:15:00and to go out there and finish this thing off.
- 1:15:02He wanted the guys back, Trent Grisham, Schmidt, Goldschmidt
- 1:15:05and Bellinger, but wishes they could have done more.
- 1:15:09I heard this story and, and I he's the captain and he's really
- 1:15:13speaking for the fans and he's a he's a fan of the New York
- 1:15:17Yankees. He wants the Yankees to pull the
- 1:15:19trigger and land some superstars.
- 1:15:21This wasn't the offseason to really bring those superstars in
- 1:15:25the air. They really wasn't.
- 1:15:26If you look at the free agency market, they got Bellinger, who
- 1:15:30was one of the best free agents out there.
- 1:15:32They signed him, they gave him an extension.
- 1:15:33It's not like they struck out on him and lost him.
- 1:15:36They if they added Kyle Tucker, was that enough for him to be
- 1:15:39happy about? No, I I think the fact here is,
- 1:15:43is there wasn't enough out there where the Yankees could have
- 1:15:46pulled the trigger, where it would have made Yankee fans
- 1:15:48happy or even some of the players there.
- 1:15:50I think next offseason if the Yankees strike out on bringing
- 1:15:54another superstar in after the strike here, if there is a
- 1:15:57season, well then I think that Aaron Judge won't be happy with
- 1:16:01the organization. He's not going to ask for
- 1:16:03himself to be traded or anything.
- 1:16:05I don't I've never heard, I never heard or seen a captain
- 1:16:08ever do that. But I'm sure he will air out his
- 1:16:11opinions to it. I don't honestly, what he said
- 1:16:14to Brian Hope isn't surprising. It wasn't like he was out there
- 1:16:17and saying, oh, we're we're not a championship team.
- 1:16:20We're not even making the playoffs with this roster.
- 1:16:22No, he didn't say that. All he said is he he didn't
- 1:16:26understand that why the Yankees didn't go out there and open up
- 1:16:29their their pockets, even though if you really look at it, they
- 1:16:32really did. It's not like they struck out
- 1:16:35and didn't add a superstar player or not a superstar, a
- 1:16:38star player to a roster that a lot of teams were after.
- 1:16:41Seven teams were after Bellinger and the Yankees got him on a
- 1:16:45good contract. So I don't know where the
- 1:16:47complaining should be. Not from El Capitan or anybody
- 1:16:51else on this Yankee roster. They're still a contender.
- 1:16:54They're probably the best team in the American League, even
- 1:16:57with some of the acquisitions some of those other teams made.
- 1:16:59It's interesting because I think the trends of the Yankees of
- 1:17:02what was available realistically for them this offseason have
- 1:17:05gone against what they've tried in the past and hasn't worked.
- 1:17:08Like, yeah, OK, a lot of people are thinking the Yankees need to
- 1:17:10go improve their bullpen, too. But we've also seen off seasons
- 1:17:13with the Yankees getting these flashy relievers and then
- 1:17:16flaming out or getting hurt, stuff like that.
- 1:17:19Same kind of thing with the catching position, anything like
- 1:17:22that. They weren't never really in on
- 1:17:24Tucker. They were never really in on
- 1:17:25Bragman, I don't think as much as people think.
- 1:17:27And those were the probably the two biggest names beside
- 1:17:29Bellinger's bringing it back to to get.
- 1:17:31So if they got more in quantity, fine.
- 1:17:34But maybe it's more of a shot at Brian Cashman with all the
- 1:17:35comments he was making at the beginning.
- 1:17:37Smartest the smartest thing to do is bring up Spencer Jones.
- 1:17:41I don't want to hear about oh, we're going to trade him he's
- 1:17:44he's not a peace or we're going to block him we're going to
- 1:17:47block him you have a young stud right now in your farm system.
- 1:17:51See what you got from him, see what you what he's made of
- 1:17:54coming up and being called up in the major leagues.
- 1:17:56What is he going to do? Hit three home runs in spring
- 1:17:58training and you're going to walk out on him and say well,
- 1:18:02we're going to move him. We don't think he's any good.
- 1:18:04I last year he was the best player in spring training and
- 1:18:07they sent him down to AAA. It doesn't make any sense.
- 1:18:09If you want to surprise, you want to make the Yankee fans
- 1:18:12happy, don't go out and say pretty much tell.
- 1:18:15Tell all the Yankee fans your best left-handed prospect, your
- 1:18:18young stud power hitter who has almost identical numbers like
- 1:18:22Aaron as me and Fish were pointing out during during
- 1:18:26offset of the show and trying to compare his numbers to Aaron
- 1:18:29Judge. You're going to you're going to
- 1:18:31just move them because he doesn't fit the culture.
- 1:18:33He doesn't fit the roster that's built right now with the New
- 1:18:36York Inc. And that's why I think these
- 1:18:38jabs are not necessarily at the free agent moves themselves.
- 1:18:40It's the way I think Cashman's operated.
- 1:18:42And maybe it's deterred players away.
- 1:18:44Obviously, we've heard Java say that with certain free agents
- 1:18:46when he was there that maybe Cashman just negotiated him
- 1:18:48wrong too. And maybe that's why Jones and
- 1:18:51Dominguez, that recent story too, maybe be judged the wrong
- 1:18:53way. Well, let's go across town and
- 1:18:57talk about the Mets. There was a very weird story.
- 1:19:00If you think this the Yankee story was weird, the Mets story
- 1:19:02is even stranger. Uncle Stevie, Stevie Money Bucks
- 1:19:07over there says that the as long as he's owner of the New York
- 1:19:12Mets, they will never, ever have a captain, despite speculation
- 1:19:18last year Francisco Lindor was going to be named captain of the
- 1:19:22team. You know, there was a lot of
- 1:19:25talk about it. And that frustrated Brandon
- 1:19:28Nimmo, who is now no longer part of the team.
- 1:19:32We've heard some weird, you know, stuff ranging from they
- 1:19:36just didn't get along to they had political arguments that
- 1:19:40made the clubhouse awkward. Regardless, he's gone now.
- 1:19:45Lindor, who's the longest tenured player on the team after
- 1:19:48Pete Alonzo, Jeff McNeil and Nimmo were gone this offseason,
- 1:19:51says he respects Cohen's decision and says the label
- 1:19:55wouldn't change. The type of leader and
- 1:19:56personality is in the locker room.
- 1:19:58But Errol, it feels like a pretty like direct shot at the
- 1:20:03leadership. Going on with this team.
- 1:20:05Absolutely does. And and Pete Alonzo I thought
- 1:20:08was the face of the organization, the polar bear.
- 1:20:10They winded up not even offer him a contract.
- 1:20:13He goes to free agency and goes to the Baltimore Orioles.
- 1:20:16And I I wouldn't be surprised if he hits 4550 home runs and when
- 1:20:20he plays the Mets and he meets the Mets this year, he drives
- 1:20:22the ball down their throats. But here's the facts.
- 1:20:26None of those guys that are on that roster right now are
- 1:20:28homegrown players. None of them as as as far as I'm
- 1:20:31concerned, star players that are on that roster.
- 1:20:34Lynn or Soto, they're not from the organization.
- 1:20:36So I could understand Steve Cohen coming out and saying,
- 1:20:39hey, you know what, none of those guys are going to be
- 1:20:42captains. We're not going to have
- 1:20:43captains. Because I I think that obviously
- 1:20:46as far as the organization is concerned, they're more worried
- 1:20:49about a casino being built over there and making sure that
- 1:20:52there's money being printed over there and him paying players or
- 1:20:56drawing players to come and play over here to try to win
- 1:20:59championships for the fans. To me, it's all about winning
- 1:21:02championships. Why does anybody to give a crop
- 1:21:05about who the captain is? They haven't won a championship
- 1:21:08since 1986. It's how many years?
- 1:21:1130 years ago? 40 years ago?
- 1:21:14To me, it's all about winning championships.
- 1:21:16So why does anybody care who the captain of the New York Mets is?
- 1:21:20Is it Captain America or is it some ass sitting out there
- 1:21:24paying tickets, $500 tickets to go and watch this disgraceful
- 1:21:28team choke at the end of the season?
- 1:21:30Yeah, it's a problem when you're announcing this kind of thing.
- 1:21:33I'm not really advocating for the mention of 1 captain anyway.
- 1:21:36I've always argue with that with the Rangers too.
- 1:21:38Like the Rangers switching their captains every year because they
- 1:21:40keep training all the other ones.
- 1:21:41But the overall leadership dynamic has to be there if you
- 1:21:45want this team to go anywhere. And outside of maybe Lindor and
- 1:21:49Simeon, I don't really see any guys that are definitively good
- 1:21:52leader. I think Soto was just a flashy
- 1:21:53name, great player, but I I never really was amazed by any
- 1:21:56leadership quality with him. The Shed's the same kind of way.
- 1:21:59I don't think he really is has that kind of thing and you need
- 1:22:01that kind of thing with more of your starting lineup guys, but
- 1:22:04even your pitchers too, like there are a lot of young guys
- 1:22:06all at once. Like who are you going to be
- 1:22:07able to trust? I just think they have a problem
- 1:22:09that they're not a well operated team.
- 1:22:11They're just a bunch of money, money hungry guys right now that
- 1:22:15are hoping to win and hoping a mixed bag of all this can win a
- 1:22:17championship. You can't trust him and these
- 1:22:19comments really don't help. It just feels like a guy who
- 1:22:22tried to make a team on a video game and didn't worry about like
- 1:22:25the chemistry aspect of everything that's going to
- 1:22:27happen in the people's lives and the relationships.
- 1:22:30It might get ugly, but, you know, let's let's leave out some
- 1:22:33hope for the Mets fans. See, I'm not just such a hater,
- 1:22:36Errol. It's not.
- 1:22:36It's not everything. Give me a break.
- 1:22:39You're trying to be nice. I was nice, I was being nice.
- 1:22:43Don't you think? I don't think you're being nice.
- 1:22:45This will be the ultimate test. It's.
- 1:22:46Typical Aaron Fishman, you know, locating what nice is and what
- 1:22:51bad is. And I mean locating because he's
- 1:22:54probably in Washington, DC right now and trying to figure out,
- 1:22:57hey, you know what, let's talk about New York fans here in New
- 1:23:00York. So it's like all over an Almanac
- 1:23:02of craziness. Another tow job as we all know.
- 1:23:06Nice job we miss you, Job we miss you.
- 1:23:08Don't tell your Don't tell your friend Danny about Toast,
- 1:23:11though. Yeah, as as we all know.
- 1:23:13Or we can use the old myth breaking news.
- 1:23:16I'm putting you on a leash now. We could do it that way or we
- 1:23:19could do it this way. Breaking news.
- 1:23:20They call me the ladies man and Mr. Steal your girl.
- 1:23:23Oh well, hopefully he's not stealing anybody's girl or.
- 1:23:26I feel like Nathan needs to start, like he needs to meet and
- 1:23:29start representing Rex Ryan. I feel like Nathan and Rex would
- 1:23:33have plenty of interesting conversations that nobody should
- 1:23:35hear that they would enjoy with each other.
- 1:23:38But that's a whole another story.
- 1:23:39Let's talk about those Jets, Errol Jets, Jets, Jets, Jets.
- 1:23:46Fox Sports reports The Jets are very interested in Bears D back
- 1:23:50Nashon Wright favourites to sign him with the huge amount of cap
- 1:23:54space they have. He was for the Bears.
- 1:23:56If you remember last year. He's the guy who's coach in
- 1:23:59college was murdered during the season.
- 1:24:01It was in Oakland. We talked about that story.
- 1:24:04He was very emotional the game after.
- 1:24:06I think he had an interception that game.
- 1:24:07He had a very good. Player.
- 1:24:08For the Bears, good player, he's one of the top corners on the
- 1:24:12market. Another corner on the market
- 1:24:14expected to hit free agencies. Tyreke Woolen with Super Bowl
- 1:24:17Championship Seahawks. He was the guy.
- 1:24:19If they were going to pick on someone, he was the guy they
- 1:24:21picked on. He made a couple of blunders
- 1:24:23famously didn't cost them against the Rams ultimately, but
- 1:24:27it could have. He's the next guy that people
- 1:24:29would take at corner. But obviously The Jets and the
- 1:24:31Giants we'll talk about too. Also very interested in corner.
- 1:24:34And then Speaking of those Giants, there's a guy on the
- 1:24:37Giants The Jets are apparently homing in on and it's our 5 foot
- 1:24:42one slot receiver. I'm sorry, 5 foot eight slot
- 1:24:45receiver Wandale Robinson who in the I think in the combine had
- 1:24:50the shortest arms ever recorded for a receiver at the combine.
- 1:24:54He had a lot of drops but this year he was 1000 yard receiver.
- 1:24:58Had better fantasy stats than Justin Jefferson after neighbors
- 1:25:02went down. He was the only guy that looked
- 1:25:04like an NFL receiver on that team.
- 1:25:07As far as The Jets are concerned, any corner right now
- 1:25:10would be an absolute home run for them.
- 1:25:12So I, they're going to look at woolen.
- 1:25:14I I'd stay away from woolen because I don't know if you want
- 1:25:17to bring somebody like that in your locker room unless you can
- 1:25:19control them. So that's, I wouldn't go, I like
- 1:25:22the kid from the Bears. I, I think that's something that
- 1:25:25The Jets are going to look at and The Jets have a lot of
- 1:25:27money. The Giants don't.
- 1:25:28They're going to be looking at corners, but they can't even
- 1:25:31afford their own players as Robinson is going to be
- 1:25:33available. That that's the number one guy
- 1:25:35I'd be targeting if I was the New York Giants to bring him
- 1:25:38back. Because you don't even know if
- 1:25:40your neighbors is going to be back and he's going to be 100%
- 1:25:42this guy. Robinson this year was a
- 1:25:45phenomenal player. You could put him in the slot.
- 1:25:46You can put him on the outside. He was really Jackson darts #1
- 1:25:51target all season and long, and to lose him in free agency is a
- 1:25:55catastrophe. I don't care what any Giant fan
- 1:25:57says, you could go after a wide receiver at #5 but are they
- 1:26:01better than Robertson? I I was very impressed with
- 1:26:03Robertson all season long. I did not think he was this good
- 1:26:07because over the last three years he couldn't stay healthy.
- 1:26:09But when he had a chance to spark and be a lightning rod for
- 1:26:13Gable, and then obviously what they did in the second-half and
- 1:26:16what kind of numbers he put up, he was a pro ball player.
- 1:26:20He he to me, he'd be the best slot wide receiver in the
- 1:26:23league. So my question here is with The
- 1:26:25Jets is are they going to put themselves in the right position
- 1:26:29to land these guys and not overpay for them?
- 1:26:32If they overpay for these guys, they're going to put themselves
- 1:26:34in salary cap hell for next year if they decide to move on from
- 1:26:39Aaron Glenn. You do not want to bring a coach
- 1:26:41in that's going to try to maneuver cap cap space in the
- 1:26:45next two or three years to get him you know, on point for the
- 1:26:49players that he wants to run his offense.
- 1:26:51So if you, I don't think Aaron Glenn's the guy, as we've heard
- 1:26:55many people say, they don't overpay for players this
- 1:26:59offseason, Wait until the next season where you're loaded with
- 1:27:02draft stock and you're loaded with money, where you could put
- 1:27:05the right guy in position to get the players that he wants.
- 1:27:08Yes, I was going to mention that with Neshawn, right, because I
- 1:27:10think it is a big disclaimer that both the Giants and The
- 1:27:13Jets have made this mistake in the last 10 years.
- 1:27:15The Giants did it with James Bradbury.
- 1:27:17He had two really good years in a row at the end of his career
- 1:27:19at Carolina, but those were his only really two good years.
- 1:27:22The Jets bid on the same thing with Tremaine Johnson and both
- 1:27:25those contracts really backfired for those teams.
- 1:27:28Nashon Wright kind of feels like that same kind of thing.
- 1:27:30He's been a product of a good secondary for a while.
- 1:27:32He played well when those guys were hurt at the throughout this
- 1:27:34year. Is it a flash in the pan though,
- 1:27:36and can you trust that kind of thing for that much money that
- 1:27:39he's going to demand because he was one of the interception
- 1:27:41leaders in the league? I don't know.
- 1:27:42Robinson's another interesting 1.
- 1:27:44He improved very, very good as a route runner and a deep threat
- 1:27:47this past year. Don't pay over 15,000,000 for
- 1:27:49Robinson and I would land. Him, I was going to say Khalil
- 1:27:52Shakur was that same kind of thing.
- 1:27:54Buffalo gave him three-year, $45 million contract.
- 1:27:57I wouldn't exceed that if I were, if I were any team going
- 1:28:00after Robinson because Robinson height wise much more
- 1:28:02deficiencies than Shakir does. Yeah, I personally would rather
- 1:28:05have Shakur in that deal. But just before we leave The
- 1:28:09Jets, Vera Tucker, you know, obviously lots of injury
- 1:28:13history. He's probably someone that
- 1:28:16they'll try to bring back on a low low cost 9.
- 1:28:18Million a year, I think 9 million.
- 1:28:20Makes sense. I think it's I think it's going
- 1:28:22to be less than half of that. It might not be very much just
- 1:28:24to see if he can still play. It's like that with the injuries
- 1:28:27with him. Bruce Hall though, looks like
- 1:28:30him and Kenneth Walker, the third who we'll talk about in
- 1:28:33the Sportsman in a little bit, are going to be the top 2
- 1:28:36running backs on the market. He wants around 13 million plus
- 1:28:40Breece Hall. If they tagged him it would be
- 1:28:43around 14 1/2. They're going to tag him so.
- 1:28:45They're 100%. That's what they're looking at
- 1:28:47right there with Hall. They're going to tag Breece
- 1:28:50Hall. There's no question they are.
- 1:28:51The Jets aren't just going to let him go and get nothing for
- 1:28:54him. They were expecting a third
- 1:28:55round draft pick for him. They didn't get it from Kansas
- 1:28:58City. Who knows if Kansas City gets
- 1:29:00Breece Hall, they make, I believe they make the playoffs
- 1:29:03and maybe make a run. They struck out on that because
- 1:29:06they don't want to give up a third round pick, which is very
- 1:29:08surprising. I think Breeze Hall is the type
- 1:29:10of guy that Kansas City's going to go after.
- 1:29:12I could see that happening. Kansas City will overpay for him
- 1:29:16because they need that star running back over there with
- 1:29:18Patrick Mahomes and we'll see. Maybe Tyree Kill will follow
- 1:29:22after that and they'll be a contender.
- 1:29:24But Breeze Hall is going to get franchised and The Jets are
- 1:29:27going to get something back for him.
- 1:29:28They want a third. They'll probably get 1/3 for
- 1:29:30him. So we'll see.
- 1:29:31I think that's the approach that The Jets are going to have to
- 1:29:33take. Like why would they let him go
- 1:29:34walk for nothing thing and not trying to accumulate that draft
- 1:29:38stock too. There's going.
- 1:29:38To be they don't have any third round picks this yeah right.
- 1:29:41So. Giving them even more of an
- 1:29:42incentive when you look at all the four teams remaining had
- 1:29:45good running games in the in the playoffs and even even the teams
- 1:29:48in the divisional round. So it's a different theme this
- 1:29:50year. That's going to be valued from
- 1:29:51what we talked about on Monday where they're are they devaluing
- 1:29:54the running back position? I think a team will bite this
- 1:29:55offseason. Yeah, if they let him go I'd end
- 1:29:57up with like a third round comp pick for 27 I believe if they if
- 1:30:02they do their math right. Unless, unlike how Joe Shane did
- 1:30:04it with Saquon Barkley, that's another story.
- 1:30:07Speaking of those Giants, the Giants are not as flush in cat
- 1:30:12money whatsoever as The Jets. Looks like they're going to have
- 1:30:15to do some finagling. They've talked about possibly
- 1:30:18cutting and likely cutting Bobby O'kereke, their starting
- 1:30:23linebacker for the last couple of seasons.
- 1:30:25Just hasn't been very effective out there.
- 1:30:28Probably can get similar results from a much cheaper player and
- 1:30:32he's going to want more money after this season anyway.
- 1:30:35Tight end is a guy and Isaiah likely coming from the Ravens as
- 1:30:39a name to watch, as is the big ticket name that the Giants are
- 1:30:43looking at, which is Ravens center Tyler Linder Baum, the
- 1:30:47second ranked center in the league last year according to
- 1:30:50PFF. Other guys we mentioned Neshawn,
- 1:30:53right? And then there's Colts wide
- 1:30:54receiver Daniel Jones's favorite deep ball target this season,
- 1:30:58Alec Pierce. Defensive tackle DJ Reader is
- 1:31:03another name, and they may trade Thibodeau to try to free up some
- 1:31:06of that cap room. Pierce makes a lot of sense for
- 1:31:09the Giants if they decide not to go for a wide receiver at #5
- 1:31:13they could trade out of that spot and still land a wide
- 1:31:16receiver if they can extend and add more picks.
- 1:31:20Second round would be more likely where the Giants probably
- 1:31:23go if they they don't bring a wide receiver in in the first
- 1:31:27round. But Tate's a guy that I've heard
- 1:31:29that the Giants are very intrigued speak to, very
- 1:31:30interested in. They'll wait until the combine
- 1:31:33to really see if he's 100% healthy.
- 1:31:35But to me, I think that the Giants are not really going to
- 1:31:38have much much to move and and much to trade.
- 1:31:41Now Thibodeau, they could sign and trade him.
- 1:31:43But it's what I'm hearing it's Dexter Lawrence is where they're
- 1:31:47going to try to move his contract to, to free up some
- 1:31:51contract money where they can add maybe 2 pieces for one.
- 1:31:55I think it's a big mistake if the Giants decide to move Dexter
- 1:31:58Lawrence. I I still think he has a lot
- 1:32:00left in him. He has been the cornerstone of
- 1:32:03their defense. It would be a huge mistake after
- 1:32:05having one bad season because he wasn't 100% healthy because you
- 1:32:09like what Burns did. He had one Goodyear.
- 1:32:11And as far as I'm concerned, when you, when you see Burns is
- 1:32:14a good player. I'm not saying he wasn't good
- 1:32:16with Carolina. He was a good player.
- 1:32:18He was a top 12, top 13 linebacker, but he had an
- 1:32:23unbelievable year this year. Can he do it over and over and
- 1:32:26over again? And I still think Dexter
- 1:32:28Lawrence, even though Dexter Lawrence was not at the top, you
- 1:32:31know, at the top of his game this year, he created double and
- 1:32:34triple teams that helped Burns. Really, it opened up for Burns
- 1:32:37to be the player he was. I, I just, I think it's a big
- 1:32:40mistake if they let go of Dexter.
- 1:32:42Lawrence, I'm not hearing that about Dexter.
- 1:32:44He's the guy because of the contract that he has.
- 1:32:47There's no reason to because they can wait till the very end
- 1:32:50and then do the extension void years thing with his contract
- 1:32:53and free up that room after like all those things where like you
- 1:32:57can only spend so much of the money.
- 1:32:59This is a way to like cheat and open up more money later on and
- 1:33:02they'll use it if if there's like a big name that comes out.
- 1:33:05He had a down season for his standards last year as far as
- 1:33:08the stats. He was an all world player the
- 1:33:10two years consistently before that dude.
- 1:33:12Not much this year. 4 minutes ago, 4 minutes ago.
- 1:33:15A heavy as far as I'm I'm reading right now is Giants
- 1:33:19facing difficult decisions on keeping Dexter Lawrence on a all
- 1:33:22season. I've seen like 5 stories that
- 1:33:25they're looking to. Possibly, I'm just saying that
- 1:33:27was listen to the. I'm just telling you.
- 1:33:28Catino and Schmelk and all the Giants beat writers and
- 1:33:32Visignano and they're all just kind of saying that he's
- 1:33:34probably going to be more of a down the road situation unless
- 1:33:37like you said, if someone wants to give first round picks.
- 1:33:40I don't know, I think they get one for him and maybe a second.
- 1:33:43But you don't trade him if you can't, you know what I mean?
- 1:33:46There's they'll get. They'll get what The Jets got
- 1:33:48for Quinton Williams. They'll get a first.
- 1:33:50He should be worth more than Quinton Williams is a better
- 1:33:52player than. Quinton Williams Quinton
- 1:33:54Williams was better than Dexter Lawrence this past year and.
- 1:33:56I would disagree with that. They're different players, Like
- 1:33:59they're one's a three tech, one's A1 tech, but but like
- 1:34:02they're both very good. This I'm saying that this year,
- 1:34:05going into after the season that Dexter Lawrence have, I'm going
- 1:34:09to say Quinton Williams was better, especially when he went
- 1:34:11to the Cowboys. He certainly woke their defense
- 1:34:14up. That's right.
- 1:34:14You know, like, they needed a guy like him.
- 1:34:16So good for them. I'm getting them.
- 1:34:18Let's get off of this and get into just finishing up.
- 1:34:21Not much Western New York sports right now to talk.
- 1:34:24Obviously, hockey's in the break right now for the Olympics.
- 1:34:27We'll talk about Olympic hockey on Monday.
- 1:34:30But the Bills want to talk quickly about their weird story
- 1:34:33about vandalism at their their stadium that's being
- 1:34:36constructed. Apparently there's a reward for
- 1:34:39$100,000 for some graffiti found all over the place inside the
- 1:34:44building of New Highmark Stadium.
- 1:34:46It's apparently they're seeing, they think it might be an inside
- 1:34:48job. Who knows?
- 1:34:49The Bills are just wacky like that.
- 1:34:51But the the guys that they need are obvious.
- 1:34:53They had no pass rush and they had no receivers.
- 1:34:57So Trey Hendrickson is just sitting there for them.
- 1:34:59There's no way he's going to the Bengals.
- 1:35:02They don't have to pay him as much as he got previously
- 1:35:04because he didn't have the big season.
- 1:35:06He's a big man. Let's talk about the wide
- 1:35:09receivers because it's obvious we mentioned the couple with
- 1:35:12Alec Pierce already and Wandale Robinson, but Mike Evans is the
- 1:35:16name everyone's talking about for the Bills.
- 1:35:18Makes so much sense as the outside receiver red zone threat
- 1:35:22Pickens is available likely, you know, unless he gets tagged or
- 1:35:26something like that. And then, you know, like Juan
- 1:35:31Jennings from the 49ers might come available as well as.
- 1:35:34A kind of I'd stay away from it today.
- 1:35:36It's Mike Evans that's the guy and automatically that makes him
- 1:35:40a contender. They need they need a guy that's
- 1:35:42going to dominate on the outside, go up and get the ball.
- 1:35:46Josh Allen has not had a player of this magnitude.
- 1:35:49If Mike Evans go ever, I don't care.
- 1:35:51You want to say Diggs was great, that's fine.
- 1:35:54He is not Mike Evans. This guy's a Hall of Famer.
- 1:35:56He he's a tough player go up for the ball type of player, red
- 1:36:01zone dominance. He's everything you want in a
- 1:36:04wide receiver for the next two years.
- 1:36:06To have Mike Evans at the top of his game and, and fairly healthy
- 1:36:09too. I mean, he misses a significant
- 1:36:12amount of games here and there, but I mean, he misses like two
- 1:36:15or three games this season, but he still plays a significant
- 1:36:17amount of games. So I, I, I'm going to tell you
- 1:36:20this right now, Mike Evans would be the slam dunk for them.
- 1:36:22I, I, I, you could bring in a Trey Hendrickson, he'll take
- 1:36:25less money. Mike Evans would take less
- 1:36:27money. And if they do, if they bring in
- 1:36:29those two guys, contenders, Super Bowl contenders, they're
- 1:36:32the favorites are coming out of the AFC.
- 1:36:34Slam dunk Mike Evans trade makes perfect sense.
- 1:36:36I think you trade a big bodied receiver.
- 1:36:37Back, you don't have to give up much.
- 1:36:39I would say you either give up Josh, yeah, Josh Palmer and
- 1:36:42maybe not even a third round like maybe get a third round
- 1:36:44yeah, because they have so many big bodied receivers Buffalo,
- 1:36:46But you need you can need one that actually has good talent.
- 1:36:49Coleman's been obviously streaky with all the off field issues
- 1:36:51that he had. I'm more worried about their
- 1:36:52interior than I am with their outside fish.
- 1:36:55But still at the same time you want to explore the market.
- 1:36:58If you can get Hendrickson, Maybe if the Giants do trade
- 1:37:00Thibodeau, that's an option for them to where you have to give
- 1:37:02them like a third or fourth round pick, which I don't think.
- 1:37:04But I'm more worried about their second guy next to Ed all very
- 1:37:08personally. He.
- 1:37:08Doesn't get back healthy. Yeah, I would imagine.
- 1:37:10I'm looking at the Bills draft and I'm thinking they're going
- 1:37:13for the beef this year on the defensive side.
- 1:37:16It would make a lot of sense to me.
- 1:37:18So let's just finish up. Let's talk a little college.
- 1:37:21Who Big East basketball, two big teams this year, UConn, Huskies
- 1:37:25and Saint John. So we're going to focus in on
- 1:37:27them until the big until the dance.
- 1:37:29But as far as the UConn got knocked off by Creighton, it was
- 1:37:34pretty bad. They were home favorites, 15 1/2
- 1:37:37points. They gave out 91 points.
- 1:37:39Dan Hurley called the defense an absolute.
- 1:37:41Joke. Lost his mind in a press
- 1:37:43conference went a little viral, said they're playing with fire.
- 1:37:47They're kind of in a range right now where they could be a 2-3
- 1:37:50and if they, I hope not, maybe even a four seed, but probably
- 1:37:54A2 or a three seed the way it's going right now, St.
- 1:37:57John's it's. Good for both of them. 12 game
- 1:38:00win streak right now, third longest in college basketball
- 1:38:04only behind Liberty and undefeated Miami of Ohio.
- 1:38:07But one of the games there was a huge fight and St.
- 1:38:10Second leading scorer Bryce Hopkins got fouled by Duncan
- 1:38:14Powell. Speedy, you said you were
- 1:38:16almost. Harold and I had him on the show
- 1:38:17five years ago and funny, Funny Story.
- 1:38:21So the first time we were supposed to have him on the
- 1:38:23show, he left his phone in his locker so he couldn't get it.
- 1:38:27So we had to reschedule with him.
- 1:38:28And then he became, I think, one of our first video interviews we
- 1:38:30ever did on Stream Yard. It looked like he had like the
- 1:38:33Daniel Bryan front face lock in on on him and that play
- 1:38:39obviously suspensions for three games for Hopkins, for Powell,
- 1:38:44for pulling Hopkins down by the head.
- 1:38:47I will say this, I think UConn is going to be a Final Four
- 1:38:51team. I think St.
- 1:38:52John's could be an Elite Eight Final Four team.
- 1:38:55I think both teams in the way they've played and, and, and
- 1:38:58recruiting some of the older players in St.
- 1:39:01John's, I think Pitino obviously knows what he was looking for,
- 1:39:04what he was missing in the the March Madness tournament last
- 1:39:08year they didn't have enough offense.
- 1:39:09Well, this year they've been better offensively.
- 1:39:12They've shot better at the three-point line.
- 1:39:14I think St. John's could be very deep, very
- 1:39:16dangerous because of their defenses, defensive prowess and
- 1:39:20the youth and obviously the veteran players that they have.
- 1:39:22You gun they're young, they have all these 18 and 19 year olds,
- 1:39:26but I think Danny Hurley is so aggressively funny on and off
- 1:39:31the court. He yells at the other teams
- 1:39:33players. He he's to me, he's the the
- 1:39:36heart and soul of that team. And I think UConn are so
- 1:39:40dangerous for these tournaments just because Danny Hurley is, he
- 1:39:44coaches the game completely different than everybody else in
- 1:39:47the nation. I Uconn's dangerous.
- 1:39:49I think they have the size and they have the ability to score
- 1:39:53in many different ways. And of course the defensive
- 1:39:55prowess that they have there. There could be my favorite to
- 1:39:58winning the whole thing this year.
- 1:39:59Yeah. The only team with those kinds
- 1:40:01of exceptions a little iffy with the offensive efficiency.
- 1:40:03A very young team which usually doesn't win titles.
- 1:40:05In today's game, they. Got two guys that could be.
- 1:40:07Danny Hurley is the one coach I could trust to make that kind of
- 1:40:10thing work and still win a title.
- 1:40:11Like you said, Saint John's looks better offensively.
- 1:40:13Older and very well coached. Much more deeper offensively
- 1:40:17thanks to thanks to Hopkins. They have two, I think two other
- 1:40:20guys that are scoring over 15 a game too, which is something
- 1:40:22they did not have last year. So definitely a good sign.
- 1:40:24They'll probably be like a three or four seat unless they win the
- 1:40:26Big East tournament, then they might be, they might be a 2, but
- 1:40:28it doesn't matter. They need to build a good
- 1:40:30foundation. They're doing that.
- 1:40:33And that's it for the carousel. We'll spin again next week.
- 1:40:37All right, ladies and gentlemen, we call this the deuce of the
- 1:40:40day. The deuce of the day.
- 1:40:44You log not a log. I don't have a log but.
- 1:40:53One of my favorite Christmas movies, A Christmas Vacation,
- 1:40:57and I love that part. You like, you like.
- 1:41:00Anyways, it seems like Kevin Durant again is back with his
- 1:41:05Twitter accounts, ladies and gentlemen, and boy oh boy is he
- 1:41:08pissing people off. Durant, who has more than 19.3
- 1:41:12million followers on his public Twitter accounts, is accused of
- 1:41:17using another and unanimous anonymous account with a handle
- 1:41:21called at Get Higher 77. Screenshots of group chats
- 1:41:27involving the account or that account show that Get Higher 77
- 1:41:32criticizing current Rocket teammates like Saginn and Jabari
- 1:41:38Smith Junior, as well as other teammates like or former
- 1:41:41teammates like Devin Booker, James Harden and Tremont Green
- 1:41:45and Russell Westbrook. Oh my God, does this guy ever
- 1:41:50learn? Does this guy actually ever
- 1:41:53learn about just keeping these Twitter accounts to himself?
- 1:41:57How many Twitter accounts do you need, Kevin?
- 1:41:59How many things do you need to hide and why are you throwing
- 1:42:03your teammates under the bus? Doesn't make any sense.
- 1:42:05This guy is been the best player on every one of those rosters.
- 1:42:10When you think about the the OKC Thunder with Harden, Russell
- 1:42:13Westbrook and and the talent that they had over there and
- 1:42:17obviously striking out against Miami the one year that they
- 1:42:19made it to the finals and then going and jumping ship, he went
- 1:42:23to the Brooklyn, Kyrie Irving and James Harden.
- 1:42:25How did that work out over there?
- 1:42:27Everywhere is going. The only time he won was with
- 1:42:30Golden State because he had Steph Curry and and and Thompson
- 1:42:34and Draymond Green in their primes of their career.
- 1:42:37He was the best player on the team, but he needed to join
- 1:42:39forces and now he's joined forces with Twitter once again
- 1:42:44with 78910 Twitter accounts and throwing teammates under the
- 1:42:48bus. When is he going to get popped
- 1:42:50in the face? This man needs to be knocked the
- 1:42:53hell out. All I see now is he going to
- 1:42:56these weddings and dancing and prancing around doing his what?
- 1:42:59What do they call it? The crab dance?
- 1:43:01A guy can't dance for crap. He's a goofy 6 foot 11
- 1:43:05ridiculous personality who has nothing good to say about
- 1:43:08anybody but himself and he calls himself the greatest offensive
- 1:43:11talent the NBA has ever seen. The only thing he's great at is
- 1:43:15hiding away behind his Twitter account.
- 1:43:17So my deuce of the day goes to the one we call Kevin or Durant
- 1:43:23or Mr. Twitter himself X whatever you call it, Kevin
- 1:43:26Durant. When we come back, ladies and
- 1:43:28gentlemen, we will be talking to former 12 year Pro Bowl running
- 1:43:32back Amen Green. He'll be joining us.
- 1:43:36We're going to be very happy and enjoy full attack.
- 1:43:39And I'm just kidding, I love Mr. Green.
- 1:43:42I watched him play for the one we call the Packers.
- 1:43:45I know Brett Farve, I love Brett Farve and I love the way Green
- 1:43:49ran the ball in the time that he dominated the league.
- 1:43:51So when we come back, we'll have our man Green joining us.
- 1:43:54But first, our sports minute with the 1:00 we call Fish.
- 1:44:00This is the Jabba and the Mouth Sports minute.
- 1:44:04All right, guys, Iron Fishman here with your sportsman.
- 1:44:07I got a couple of stories before we go through the scores this
- 1:44:09evening in an effort to put some extra fuel in that tank.
- 1:44:13The Dallas Mavericks, after trading away Anthony Davis, who
- 1:44:16they traded Luka Doncic away for in less than a calendar year
- 1:44:20after acquiring them after firing Nico Harrison, will go
- 1:44:23down as one of the worst gems in NBA history.
- 1:44:25Have announced that star point guard Kyrie Irving, who has
- 1:44:28missed the entire season so far recovering from a torn ACL
- 1:44:32suffered last season, will not return to the court this year.
- 1:44:35Irving's agent, agent Chatella Riley told ESPN Shyam Shirani on
- 1:44:40Wednesday. This is about Kyrie being 1000%
- 1:44:43when he comes back and giving himself the best chance to chase
- 1:44:46a championship next season. Irving, for his part, is also
- 1:44:50excited for the future prospects with the franchise.
- 1:44:52This decision wasn't easy, but it's the right one.
- 1:44:55I'm grateful for The Mavericks organization, my teammates and
- 1:44:57our fans for their continued support throughout the process.
- 1:45:00I'm looking forward to coming back stronger next season.
- 1:45:02The belief and drive I have only inside only grows and I want to
- 1:45:06send a huge shout out to all of my brothers and sisters out
- 1:45:10there who've torn their ACL or got an injured doing what they
- 1:45:13love to do every day. Thank you for the inspiration.
- 1:45:16No Fear. Since acquiring the Irving, The
- 1:45:18Mavericks were able to get the NBA Finals in the curiously
- 1:45:22short lived union with him and Luka Doncic and have been 75 and
- 1:45:2550, 53 with him in the lineup as opposed to a record of 42 and 75
- 1:45:29without Irving. The Mavericks will look to add 1
- 1:45:32of the top prospects in a loaded 2026 draft to pair with Irving
- 1:45:35next year along with rookie sensation Cooper Flag.
- 1:45:38After this obvious tank job is over this year, the Super Bowl
- 1:45:43winning Seattle Seahawks announced on Tuesday, according
- 1:45:45to sources into ESPN, that Super Bowl MVP running back Kenneth
- 1:45:49Walker, the third, will likely not be tagged and will be an
- 1:45:53unrestricted free agent this offseason.
- 1:45:55Walker, who will turn 26 in the middle of next year at 135
- 1:45:59rushing yards and 161 total yards in the Super Bowl, not
- 1:46:03including a 60 plus yard TD run that was negated by a penalty in
- 1:46:06a game where he could do very little wrong.
- 1:46:09Walker it appears will be getting a nice payday for his
- 1:46:11efforts as the Seahawks will not be giving him the franchise or
- 1:46:14transition tag to allow him to get that big second contract
- 1:46:18most players dream of. Walker and The Jets running back
- 1:46:21Bruce Hall, as we talked about earlier in the show, are
- 1:46:23expected to be the top backs on the free agent market likely to
- 1:46:26get well over 10 million a season in their next deals
- 1:46:29despite losing backup running back Zach charbonnay in the
- 1:46:31playoffs to a tourney seal, likely costing them all the next
- 1:46:34season. The Seahawks will apparently
- 1:46:36either pay Walker, which might be unlikely or try to find the
- 1:46:39next Walker in the draft of this year.

- 1:49:17You like it, tender, You see it. You hear that?
- 1:49:20Anyways, ladies and gentlemen, for the first time on job in the
- 1:49:23mouth, we are now talking to former 12 year Pro Bowl running
- 1:49:26back. I'm on Green.
- 1:49:29What's up, Mr. Green? Not much.
- 1:49:31How you guys doing? We're good, man.
- 1:49:33We're cool. We're collective.
- 1:49:34We're, you know, it's funny, I call you Mr. Green because we've
- 1:49:38had a couple of greens on this show and I like, I like the
- 1:49:41color green. I think we all like the color
- 1:49:43green, especially if it's in my pocket.
- 1:49:45Of course we. Could only.
- 1:49:46Hold you. Know we could only not going to
- 1:49:47turn down green green like that. Nobody would.
- 1:49:50When it's in my pocket. That's absolutely true.
- 1:49:52And Speaking of green, your Green Bay Packers, I mean, it
- 1:49:56starts with the IT starts with green and it ends with the Pack.
- 1:50:00But here's the problem with the Green Bay Packers.
- 1:50:02My friend Michael Parsons goes down this team all season long,
- 1:50:07they had their UPS and their downs.
- 1:50:09Everybody thought that at the end of the season, maybe they
- 1:50:11should fire the coach. But you heard what Love said at
- 1:50:16the press conference. Why we talking about this?
- 1:50:18We just lost. We just got knocked out of the
- 1:50:20playoffs. I don't want to talk about who
- 1:50:21the coach of the team. I want to talk about why we
- 1:50:24didn't win this game. Why do you think the Green Bay
- 1:50:27Packers this year couldn't make that next step?
- 1:50:30Experience, you know, watching the playoffs for all teams, but
- 1:50:34for my team in particular, you know, seeing Jordan, the
- 1:50:38offense, even coach Lafleur, you know, even though he's had
- 1:50:41they've had the success since he's been in the head coaching
- 1:50:44job and then Jordan at the quarterback position since
- 1:50:47Aaron's left. It's a thing called experience
- 1:50:49where playing in certain games, you, you kind of know what you
- 1:50:52have to mentally prepare for. So these athletes physically are
- 1:50:56there. It's the mental side when you're
- 1:50:58actually going into a rival divisional game where this is
- 1:51:02the third time you first deface the team and then it went it
- 1:51:05didn't go good the last time. So you have that going on.
- 1:51:08But then now you start off fast, first half of this game, the
- 1:51:12playoff game and then second-half, not much going with
- 1:51:15the offensive side of the ball. And so that's between, you know,
- 1:51:18coastal floor and I say the players on that team from the
- 1:51:22play calling, executing and not being, I say having that
- 1:51:26something a word, a phrase that we said a whole lot, a sense of
- 1:51:29urgency, just having that. That's the lack of of that.
- 1:51:32You know, that's what that game was about.
- 1:51:34And the Bears turned it on. They knew they had to you know
- 1:51:37what they they figured out what they needed to do and they
- 1:51:39already had that experience from the previous game when they beat
- 1:51:42them and shows your field just a few weeks, you know, prior.
- 1:51:45So that right there was the edge that Chicago had going into that
- 1:51:49game and then finishing the game because they had already
- 1:51:52finished the game before and beat my Packers.
- 1:51:55So it's just now mentally, I tell, I say people, I tell
- 1:51:59people all the time, You know, this game is not a hard game to
- 1:52:01play physically when you match up evenly.
- 1:52:04It just comes down to who is thinking clearer and then has
- 1:52:08that emotional push at the right time to then execute and not
- 1:52:12hesitate in any thought process from blocking to throwing a pass
- 1:52:16to catching the ball. You know, not all that
- 1:52:18anxiousness and nervousness that comes in to that might make you
- 1:52:22pause. That's where the game is won and
- 1:52:24lost and it's that close. It's just a fine line.
- 1:52:26It wasn't nothing where it was, Oh my God, it was this margin of
- 1:52:29this much that the, you know, the Packers lost by or they
- 1:52:32should have won by. It's just now they have that
- 1:52:35experience clocked in. So what's going to be
- 1:52:37interesting is this next coming seasons in the season to come
- 1:52:39where Jordan Love and that Packers offense, along with the
- 1:52:42defense is going to be facing with Caleb.
- 1:52:44And they got experiences. So we're going to see some
- 1:52:46battles, you know, coming up in the next few years between these
- 1:52:49young teams because they're still young and they got young
- 1:52:52leaders, you know, in terms of the quarterback position and the
- 1:52:54head coach position, you know, be between Ben and mad and
- 1:52:57already the animosity that's been created.
- 1:53:00But phantom handshakes or whatever you want to call it.
- 1:53:02And then the Packer Packer fans where I had to get on my fan
- 1:53:05base a little bit because I'm like, you don't raise a petition
- 1:53:08for another coach to apologize to another coach.
- 1:53:09No, we we got to be grown ass men and women and take AL like
- 1:53:12AL, you know, we took the L. That's it.
- 1:53:15You know, I never went over down to Chicago and say Urlacher,
- 1:53:18Hey, man, we got to get the position.
- 1:53:19Y'all didn't win that lap. No, take that like a grown
- 1:53:22person and call it a day. Aman you, you have a guy like
- 1:53:26Tucker Kraft who was becoming a superstar this year.
- 1:53:29He was the best tied in throughout the first half of the
- 1:53:33season. He was unstoppable.
- 1:53:35He had that game that he had three touchdowns.
- 1:53:37He was putting up ridiculous numbers as a tight end.
- 1:53:40He he was looking at like, like the next Travis Kelsey, the next
- 1:53:43George Kittle. I mean, he was playing that kind
- 1:53:46of football. And then having the injury that
- 1:53:48he had and being knocked out of the season, I definitely believe
- 1:53:51it hurt the development, development of this offense this
- 1:53:54year. Jordan Love, who was really
- 1:53:56Tucker Craft was his his go to guy really throughout the
- 1:54:00season. Losing him at the tail end of
- 1:54:03the season really affected him. Why do you think Tucker Craft is
- 1:54:06that type of player? And he's the guy, He's the go to
- 1:54:09guy moving forward IN20002627? Oh, man, because he has the
- 1:54:13talent. I mean, he has the mental, he
- 1:54:14has the physical. He's a dude, as I call it in my
- 1:54:17book. You know, guys that know how to
- 1:54:19get on the football field and they draw attention and then
- 1:54:23even if they draw the attention, you can't stop them.
- 1:54:25That feeling for a defensive player is dismantling.
- 1:54:28And I love it when I see it when when I see the I remember when I
- 1:54:31used to look across the offense of the defensive line, offensive
- 1:54:33line and see Warren said get that kickstand.
- 1:54:35You put that hand on the hip, he breathing hard.
- 1:54:37I'm like, we got him. We got game over.
- 1:54:39And so that's, you know, that's the type of dude that Tucker is.
- 1:54:42You know, when you get him doing tight end reverses, he's part of
- 1:54:46the tish push now. You know, he's holding on to the
- 1:54:48rock. That saves Jordan from getting
- 1:54:50banged up doing that. So that's a bonus there.
- 1:54:52And he just had that mentality once I saw the film of when he
- 1:54:56got drafted, you know, a couple years ago, I said, oh, they got
- 1:54:59to do. I saw him catching the ball and
- 1:55:01running and stiff forming. And what you see right there on
- 1:55:04on film, right there against the Rams, he was doing that at SDU.
- 1:55:06So I'm like Rs and SDU state. I was like I said, Oh, we got a
- 1:55:11we got to do. So I'm excited about him and how
- 1:55:13he develops and the injury. It's just a bump in the road.
- 1:55:16He's going to come back full goal another.
- 1:55:19And then that weapon, you know, another weapon for Jordan's
- 1:55:22arsenal that has a bunch of young ride receivers that are
- 1:55:24hungry. You got a young veteran running
- 1:55:26back with Josh Jacobs and I love his style.
- 1:55:29I say I'm a little taller than him.
- 1:55:30So that makes that's only makes the difference between him and
- 1:55:33I. So he's me.
- 1:55:33I could say many me, but he's he's a big man on campus running
- 1:55:37the ball. And I like that because then the
- 1:55:40offense is not just one one way balanced.
- 1:55:43You know, it's not just run heavy.
- 1:55:44You got to you got to stop the pass.
- 1:55:46And if you don't, you know what we going to beat you up in the
- 1:55:48middle between the A&B gaps with with Josh and Emmanuel Wilson as
- 1:55:52well. He coming off the bench to
- 1:55:54running, running the ball very well.
- 1:55:56You know, the one part that that was I say kind of the sucky part
- 1:55:59of the end is Zach, Tom and Lee Davis from the free agent from
- 1:56:03San Francisco having the injuries that slowed them up.
- 1:56:06You know, that was something that as a pro and at any level,
- 1:56:10you know, when you have key players beat up, you see the
- 1:56:12difference on the football field of, of how effective they are.
- 1:56:16You know, when they're 50%, you know, out there just trying to
- 1:56:19get it going to when they're 100%.
- 1:56:22So you saw that towards the end of the season.
- 1:56:24I want to go to the team you started your career with, the
- 1:56:26Seattle Seahawks, obviously winning the Super Bowl MVP,
- 1:56:27being a running back in Kenneth Walker, your position now
- 1:56:30there's a discussion of whether they they resign him or not.
- 1:56:33He wants 13 million a year. Obviously the running back
- 1:56:34contract market has not been great.
- 1:56:36What are your impressions? Obviously, the Seahawks
- 1:56:38dominance with the Super Bowl, for one, with their defense and
- 1:56:40their running game and with running back contracts in
- 1:56:42general across the NFL. I'll say yeah, with my
- 1:56:45impression of the game. Amazing.
- 1:56:46I knew both teams had defenses, but I didn't realize they were
- 1:56:50ranked one and two right behind each other, Right.
- 1:56:52And you saw the difference, though, and it was basically
- 1:56:56watching what I watched in person in New York when Seattle
- 1:57:00played Denver, when Peyton was trying to get another one.
- 1:57:02And the Legion of Boom said, no, not today.
- 1:57:06You know, we go get some pick sixes.
- 1:57:07We go get AK. What's that?
- 1:57:09KJ running a interception back, right?
- 1:57:11So that was the same thing. They had the defensive line.
- 1:57:14They had the linebackers doing their job.
- 1:57:17And they're, you know, balanced tackling, you know, making
- 1:57:21plays, getting the ball tipped and just putting pressure on
- 1:57:23break to where eventually he was, he was pushed in a
- 1:57:27situation where, you know what, I got to throw this ball up to
- 1:57:29see what happens. You know, that's where the
- 1:57:31turnovers happen. And then when you when the
- 1:57:33defense does that, they pretty much got the game in hand.
- 1:57:35And you know what wasn't much scoring early, but it came
- 1:57:38later, you know, so I like it. I always liked some from the
- 1:57:41time he got on the team. Kenny Walker the third he is
- 1:57:44he's a shifty back and he's a small back, but he runs hard and
- 1:57:47another. So he's kind of a another
- 1:57:49throwback guy like Josh Jacobs that we have in Green Bay.
- 1:57:52So watching him run, it's fun, you know, because he he sets up,
- 1:57:57he's almost got that Le'veon bell patients where he sets up,
- 1:57:59takes his time walk through the hole and then boom, he's
- 1:58:01exploding through the hole and he's passing.
- 1:58:03And that for a defender, trust me, that's a sucky feeling to
- 1:58:07see the running back get past you and you're like, God bigger.
- 1:58:09He was right here. It's like, no, he's gone, you
- 1:58:12know? So that offense along with what
- 1:58:15a Darnold did you know, because he helped kept that patience,
- 1:58:19that experience that he's gained from being a Jet first rounder
- 1:58:22to a backup 49er. To why are you trying to kill
- 1:58:24me? I'm in.
- 1:58:25Why are you killing me here? You had to mention it.
- 1:58:28You had to bring up The Jets. You had to every single ex
- 1:58:33athlete that comes on the show, they got to slip that in.
- 1:58:36They had to. Slip the New York Jets.
- 1:58:37It's business. Got it.
- 1:58:39I got it. Just.
- 1:58:40We just met, OK, We just met. So it's business.
- 1:58:43It's all business. I'm just freaking facts of what
- 1:58:45I saw on the field and I'm breaking making it down because
- 1:58:49what he did in Minnesota and then come to another team, and I
- 1:58:51told this to Josh Jacobs for his first year.
- 1:58:54I'm like to do what you did, come into this team as a Packer
- 1:58:57and become a Pro Bowl player, not just regardless of his
- 1:59:00position. That's not an easy thing to do.
- 1:59:03You know, it took me a couple years when I got traded, then it
- 1:59:06was in my second year. O1 is being where I became a Pro
- 1:59:09Bowler. So to do that year one out of
- 1:59:11the chute, you know, from a team where you got, you know, free
- 1:59:15agent, let him go from the Raiders and he goes to Green Bay
- 1:59:17Pro Bowl first year, that's magic.
- 1:59:19And he did it again this year. So, so no business, always
- 1:59:22business, just spitting facts. Man, business.
- 1:59:24No pleasure. I mean no pleasure for me when I
- 1:59:26hear that. As soon as you bring up The Jets
- 1:59:29and I can remember Sam Donald getting drafted as the third
- 1:59:32pick, youngest quarterback ever drafted.
- 1:59:34And I was so pissed off when The Jets traded him for a two and a
- 1:59:38four and watch this guy win a Super Bowl and hoist that at
- 1:59:41Lombardy Trophy. I was like why me?
- 1:59:43Why me as a Jet fan? As it always is said by the way,
- 1:59:48for everybody to know, we are talking to former 12 year Pro
- 1:59:51Bowl running back, a man Green played in from 1998 to 2009 long
- 1:59:57career with the Seattle Seahawks, the Packers and the
- 1:59:59Texans. IA lot of fans want to know what
- 2:00:02type of quarterback Brett Favre is in the locker room and what
- 2:00:06type of quarterback Aaron Rodgers is.
- 2:00:09You know, you got a chance to get to know both guys.
- 2:00:12What? Type of personalities are both
- 2:00:15these guys. I say Brett, he is in the locker
- 2:00:18room the fun. He's a fun going guy.
- 2:00:20He doesn't like the room temperature to get below 98°.
- 2:00:25You don't want it to be cold and uncomfortable and nobody having
- 2:00:28fun. So he played a lot of practical
- 2:00:31jokes. He had a fart machine on the
- 2:00:32daily. He will pour water bottle a full
- 2:00:36thing of cold water on your head just to wake you up or Gatorade
- 2:00:39to really mess up your practice uniform.
- 2:00:41That was him and Aaron was the I say more, I say sneaky about the
- 2:00:46practical joke. He was a joker too, but he would
- 2:00:49be more inside joke ish, kind of like the new generation is, you
- 2:00:53know, having inside jokes, laughing amongst a couple of the
- 2:00:57quarterbacks or what have you. And so but it but it but a solid
- 2:01:00teammate and somebody that you want to go out there and make
- 2:01:03sure you're protecting them. As you know, as that was my job.
- 2:01:06I, I called, I, I in my head, I was the last line of defense for
- 2:01:10both guys when, you know, I played more with Brett, but the
- 2:01:12few times I had with Aaron, I'm like, I'm, I'm the, I'm the
- 2:01:15Kevlar, you know, we got the electric fence with the
- 2:01:18offensive line and I'm not, I'm literally stuck to the, the, the
- 2:01:22quarterback's body. So I'm, it, I'm the last person
- 2:01:25that somebody's going to try to walk through to get to the
- 2:01:27quarterback. So I made sure I protected them
- 2:01:30both. And I say off the on the field,
- 2:01:35Brett was one of those guys that he's a physical guy for
- 2:01:38quarterback, a guy that you know, he's going to, if you get
- 2:01:41past a lot of scrimmage, he's going to do something that is
- 2:01:43going to probably piss the head coach off.
- 2:01:45You don't throw a block or trying to run somebody over and
- 2:01:48be like, Brett, save that for me and Dorsey or whoever else is
- 2:01:51running the ball or bubble catching the ball.
- 2:01:53Let us do the running. You do the throwing and the
- 2:01:56reading the coverages and stuff like that.
- 2:01:58And say, Speaking of cover, just every now and then we had to
- 2:02:00tell him, hey, man, you can't throw the ball in there.
- 2:02:02You know, three guys, you got three giants right there.
- 2:02:05You have three jets. Don't throw the ball.
- 2:02:06Throw it to the out of bounds or to me.
- 2:02:08I'm in the flat, wide open, you know.
- 2:02:11But you love him. And he gave it all he could and
- 2:02:14he was a big kid. And then Aaron to seeing him
- 2:02:16when I was with him young and developing preseason ball, he
- 2:02:20played a lot. We, we had more time then and
- 2:02:22there. And then obviously training
- 2:02:24camp, the way he threw the ball in practice, the way I've seen
- 2:02:26him throw the ball in some of the games I had early with him.
- 2:02:29And then I see later in O 9. I knew right away, I say this is
- 2:02:32the next dude, he just going to have to wait his turn.
- 2:02:34You know, when he got there, it was O 5 and he didn't get on
- 2:02:37that field to I say 2008 he was on it a little bit in O 7, but 8
- 2:02:41was when Coach McCarthy gave him the keys to the car.
- 2:02:44And we didn't know it was going to be another 20 years slate and
- 2:02:48Super Bowl win and all that, but we knew that this is another
- 2:02:52dude, that I'm fortunate for the Packer organization to have
- 2:02:56decades of another great quarterback.
- 2:02:58And that just makes it all easier to try to game plan,
- 2:03:02offense, defense, to make sure that team is doing what they
- 2:03:04need to do offensively to move the ball.
- 2:03:06Mike McCarthy just was hired to do a job over there in
- 2:03:10Pittsburgh, his hometown, his home city, and I love Mike
- 2:03:13McCarthy. I thought that the Giants should
- 2:03:15have hired Mike McCarthy if they want to develop a quarterback.
- 2:03:18Jackson Dart, he developed Aaron Rodgers.
- 2:03:21He. He's damn good at doing that.
- 2:03:22Yeah, and Dak Prescott, too. Look at what Dak Prescott's
- 2:03:25numbers transitioned into when he took over there for the
- 2:03:28Cowboys. I thought the Giants did a
- 2:03:30disservice for Jackson Dart. Not that John Horrible's not a
- 2:03:32great coach. I thought Mike McCarthy was a
- 2:03:34better fit. What type of coach is Mike
- 2:03:38McCarthy for all the Pittsburgh fans that get to know who he is?
- 2:03:42I say coming in first year, usually what he does is he gets
- 2:03:46to know everybody. He gets to know the lay of the
- 2:03:48land. He starts off with his in the
- 2:03:50locker room with his players and then coaches, obviously GM as
- 2:03:54well. And then he gets to know the
- 2:03:56town, but he already knows the town.
- 2:03:57He's one of those townies. He's a townie.
- 2:04:00He's from that area. So that is going to be his
- 2:04:03comfort zone. And then once he gets in and
- 2:04:07introduces himself and everybody, he treats everybody
- 2:04:09like a man, like a grown ass man.
- 2:04:11He tells you, shoots you straight.
- 2:04:13When you want to hear something you want to hear, he's going to
- 2:04:14say it. When you don't want to hear
- 2:04:15something you don't want to hear, he's going to shoot you.
- 2:04:17She's going to tell you, you know, so and and and for me, I
- 2:04:22didn't want it any other way. I had my mom and dad raised me
- 2:04:24that way. My dad, you have to always never
- 2:04:27beat around the Bush. You know, when I when I was in
- 2:04:29trouble, I was in trouble. You know, when I needed
- 2:04:32something corrected, it got corrected.
- 2:04:33So having coach McCarthy and coaches like him through my
- 2:04:36throughout my career, from college to pro, those are the
- 2:04:39coaches I like the assistants that don't matter this long.
- 2:04:42You can read me the riot at any time, but coach me help me get
- 2:04:46better. And that's what he did.
- 2:04:48We had, I remember my first year with him in O 6.
- 2:04:51It was just, it was kind of a miscommunication on a few
- 2:04:54instances where I've misread the schedule, like when we needed to
- 2:04:57be on the practice field, but right before practice.
- 2:05:00And if I know you guys heard of Lombardi time was quite a 10
- 2:05:03minutes before. And I remember I came out, I
- 2:05:06think practice special team practice was just wrapping up
- 2:05:10and I was probably like 10 minutes.
- 2:05:12I was like 5 or two minutes. I was within 5 minutes of our
- 2:05:15next practice and he comes over to me.
- 2:05:18He said AG, I need you to get here a little early.
- 2:05:20I'm like, I'm on time though. He's like just a little bit
- 2:05:23because you know, the younger guys are watching you, one of
- 2:05:26our leaders. And I'm like, first it kind of
- 2:05:28bugged me a little bit, but then it clicked like argue with, I
- 2:05:30was like, OK, coach, I got you, you know, And it took a little
- 2:05:33bit for me to get used to that because I was already early.
- 2:05:36But he wants to get, you know, get there so he kind of can have
- 2:05:39the leaders of the team, like I was one of them and show the
- 2:05:42rookies like, this is how we do it.
- 2:05:43We get out there 5-10 minutes early to make sure we have that
- 2:05:47leadership. Because he knows it's not just
- 2:05:49him leading the team along with the coaches.
- 2:05:51It's like it's the players at certain positions that been
- 2:05:54there for a minute or just shows this is how you play football.
- 2:05:57This is how you're being for a professional and go out here or
- 2:06:01practice to then transition over into the game field on Saturdays
- 2:06:04on preseason fall or Sundays on game day coming the regular
- 2:06:07season. So last year we had one of your
- 2:06:10teammates on the show, one of our favorite interviews we ever
- 2:06:11did that was Leroy Butler. Safety got inducted a few years
- 2:06:15ago. He actually some great Brett
- 2:06:16Farve and Reggie White store. Hall of Famer Speedy.
- 2:06:18Hall, I said all. Of favor, I said all of the hall
- 2:06:21of. Favor give her some respect, I
- 2:06:22said. He got.
- 2:06:23Inducted in the Hall of Fame 3 years ago.
- 2:06:24We interviewed him when he was in his car and his son was in
- 2:06:27the backseat, but we interviewed him.
- 2:06:28Yes, and it was the best car service many of our guests have
- 2:06:31ever had, but OK. He also, yeah, it was also
- 2:06:33funny. He was also making Errol seem
- 2:06:35like he was like 10 years younger than he was.
- 2:06:36It was and it was funny like. So what was your experience like
- 2:06:41with him? He was kind of towards the end
- 2:06:43of the career when he went to Green Bay.
- 2:06:44But how was he on and off the field?
- 2:06:46Oh, he was great guy. He was a solid teammate.
- 2:06:48And like when I got there in 2000 and a lot of those guys
- 2:06:51were still there, part of the Super Bowl team.
- 2:06:54The 1916, you know, in my head, I was so focused and locked in
- 2:06:58like when I got traded along with a couple other things, like
- 2:07:01not one to go back to the Midwest, but I'm like, I'm going
- 2:07:05to a place where they've been in the Super Bowls.
- 2:07:08You know, this team in particular, not the
- 2:07:09organization, but this, these 11-12 guys to an offense, 11-12
- 2:07:14guys on defense. They just were at 2 Super Bowls.
- 2:07:16They lost the Denver and one then the other one they, they
- 2:07:18beat the New England Patriots. So I'm coming into a place where
- 2:07:22I got to be on my best behavior and I got to be a playing grade
- 2:07:26A football, like top in football no matter what, even in
- 2:07:28practice, you know, and my first mini camp, I remember just
- 2:07:31walking in that huddle being a fan like, man, this is Brett
- 2:07:35Favre, this is William Henderson, across the ball is
- 2:07:39Gilbert Brown and then Leroy Butler.
- 2:07:41He had a couple sacks in the Super Bowl.
- 2:07:43I was like, OK, man, that means I kind of come out here and be
- 2:07:45that dude that they expect me to and that's why I got traded
- 2:07:48here. So that's it started at day one.
- 2:07:51And then the other part that made it easier was the fact they
- 2:07:54walking me in just like I was a part of the game for the last
- 2:07:57couple years. It was no hazing.
- 2:08:00It was no, you know, giving me a hard time about anything.
- 2:08:03It was like, hey, man, how you doing?
- 2:08:04You know, you just got traded from Seattle.
- 2:08:06A so and so was in Seattle and it was all welcoming.
- 2:08:09So that open arm style from even Dorsey and William Henderson,
- 2:08:13the running backs, right, running back fullback where
- 2:08:15obviously as at a place with a great guy, you know, person
- 2:08:19Ricky Waters. But he knew he had a competitive
- 2:08:22nature about himself that he knew that I was the incumbent
- 2:08:25running back and he knew I was one of those dudes that could
- 2:08:28push him, you know, and get him out the job.
- 2:08:30But you know, it's like I said at the part when I mentioned The
- 2:08:33Jets, it's business, not personal, and you got to
- 2:08:36understand. That it's a lot of personal with
- 2:08:38the New York Jets, yeah, it's a lot of.
- 2:08:40Personal. But.
- 2:08:42Dorsey, you know, he took me in, you know, and that helped me in
- 2:08:46my process of transitioning over as a Packer and get into the the
- 2:08:49offensive playbook, which was Coach Sherman who was there in
- 2:08:52Seattle with me, but then brought me over and kept his
- 2:08:54same verbiage, which is that helped me a whole lot in the
- 2:08:56next couple years to transition over and become one of the guys
- 2:09:00at in Green Bay. We are talking to former 12 year
- 2:09:03Pro Bowler. Yes, Pro Bowl running back on
- 2:09:05Man Green. Played from 98 to 2009 with the
- 2:09:09Seahawks, the Packers and the Texans.
- 2:09:12Mr. Green, 2003 was your greatest year.
- 2:09:14It was unbelievable. You had 15 touchdowns.
- 2:09:18You had over 1800 yards. You were unbelievable.
- 2:09:21You really, you were having a Saquon Barkley year where it was
- 2:09:26just unstoppable. Yeah, you were, you were
- 2:09:28sensational and honestly, for like a three or four year stand,
- 2:09:32you were the best running back in the league.
- 2:09:33You can argue you were a top three running back and all of
- 2:09:36football. That's how good you were.
- 2:09:38It's an amazing actually. It was four years.
- 2:09:40That was just back-to-back 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004.
- 2:09:44Everybody knew who you were, how dominant you were.
- 2:09:47What was that trigger that switched you into being an elite
- 2:09:50running back? What gave you that thought that
- 2:09:53you can be an elite running back in this league?
- 2:09:55I knew it. Once I got drafted, it just I
- 2:09:57was pissed off and I was a third round pick at Seattle.
- 2:09:59That that's what that's what happened.
- 2:10:01That's what started it and I became a special teamer because
- 2:10:04I could, you know, they drafted or they they free agent Ricky
- 2:10:07Waters in from the Eagles and he was the big money back.
- 2:10:11So that's why I learned business, right.
- 2:10:13They going to pay the, you know, the guy who's going to get paid
- 2:10:15the most is going to get the ball regardless of who's better.
- 2:10:18I learned that year 1. And so I was like, you know
- 2:10:20what, all right, I'm going to make this.
- 2:10:22I'm going to make lemon lemonade out of lemons.
- 2:10:24I'm not going to be sour puss. Oh, man, I'm not starting.
- 2:10:27I'm not the guy. You know what?
- 2:10:29I'm going to go back and bust some heads on this kickoff
- 2:10:30coverage, you know, make some plays on punt return and then
- 2:10:34whatever happens, happens. I became the third down back my
- 2:10:38rookie year. I end up setting a record for
- 2:10:40conversions of third and one and fourth and one my rookie year,
- 2:10:43and then same thing my second year and then boom.
- 2:10:46That's why Mike Sherman traded for me in the trade with Fred
- 2:10:49Vincent and a fifth round conditional big, you know, right
- 2:10:51before the day before the draft and they Seattle.
- 2:10:54Robbery. Yes, and they drafted Sean
- 2:10:58Alexander, another great back out of Alabama to Seattle and I
- 2:11:01get the Green Bay so even bigger chip on my shoulder like, oh, I
- 2:11:04see what they'll see what the game plan was here.
- 2:11:06You know, make Mike Holborn. He labeled me a fumbler and
- 2:11:09which I knew I wasn't. Sometimes you just have a bad
- 2:11:11game. Sometimes you have some bad
- 2:11:13moments as a young player and you get stuff in your head and
- 2:11:16you got to shake it out and I did.
- 2:11:17I always knew I so I shook that off and that's why those four
- 2:11:20years went the way those did. You know things after that, you
- 2:11:24know, some things going on off the field with my family.
- 2:11:26So it was kind of distracting a little bit in 05.
- 2:11:29Tore my quad and all that and but came back 06, got the 1000
- 2:11:33yards again and, you know, went free agency, free agent to the
- 2:11:37Texans. Didn't quite work out there.
- 2:11:39And that's sometimes the way the ball bounces.
- 2:11:41But always for like those four years, like you mentioned, it
- 2:11:44was those between my draft years to then transit into Green Bay.
- 2:11:48Look, give me an opportunity to prove that a Nebraska running
- 2:11:52back can do the job of an NFL running back, because that was
- 2:11:55the question. He's he's a Nebraska back.
- 2:11:57He's a system guy. He's only got that because they
- 2:11:59got big hogs up front blocking for him and you got an option
- 2:12:02offense that's 50 years old. I'm like, damn sure works, you
- 2:12:06know, So what's the what's the problem?
- 2:12:08But I wanted to approve all that from all the scouts that looked
- 2:12:12me over and just thought I was a guy that couldn't last four
- 2:12:14quarters. That wasn't fast.
- 2:12:16Well, I rent a 4140 at my pro day.
- 2:12:18I don't think a lot of people know that I rent a 417 and a 418
- 2:12:22and you still think I'm not that dude.
- 2:12:24But OK, I'll get opportunity to prove it.
- 2:12:25And when I do, I'm I'm hit you with a knife and turn and twist
- 2:12:30and say, hey, you should have drafted me for everybody that
- 2:12:32passed me over in the in the 98 draft.
- 2:12:35That was kind of my mindset for every team I played against.
- 2:12:38You know what's funny, Because we have a Nebraska guy in
- 2:12:41Joplin. I was wondering, what does that
- 2:12:43do mean? It seems like every Nebraska
- 2:12:45person that we've had on the show that played for Nebraska
- 2:12:48football or Nebraska sports was like, oh, he's that dude, He's
- 2:12:51that dude. He's that dude that we actually
- 2:12:54created a segment, which we're going to call it.
- 2:12:56He's that dude. So now I'm starting to realize
- 2:12:59where this is coming from. It's all from the the cornfields
- 2:13:02in Nebraska. That's Prince Mukamara.
- 2:13:04He's that dude. So no, no, he's that dude.
- 2:13:06I'm that dude. We're all that dude.
- 2:13:08I, I, that's what I'm starting to read here.
- 2:13:10The running back position has been an important position over
- 2:13:15the last two years. And we look at the elite running
- 2:13:18backs in the NFL. And I got a chance to meet
- 2:13:20Ashton Genti at the Heisman the year before this past anymore,
- 2:13:25and I thought he was the Heisman Trophy winner.
- 2:13:28I love what he did for Boise stayed he he's got a great
- 2:13:31personality. He was such a likable person.
- 2:13:33And I thought he got robbed. And then I got a chance to watch
- 2:13:36him this year with the Raiders. And I think the Raiders didn't
- 2:13:38use him right. They didn't have the they didn't
- 2:13:41have the offensive line. Like you said, you needed the
- 2:13:43beef up there. They didn't really protect him.
- 2:13:45What do you think a running back going into the NFL needs to know
- 2:13:50to make them understand the speed of the game in the
- 2:13:53transition from college to the NFL?
- 2:13:56That the speed of the game for running back is going to come a
- 2:14:00lot easier because we are in the thick of it.
- 2:14:03So we're right in the offensive line in terms of ISO plays,
- 2:14:06counter outside zone pitch plays now the RPO action.
- 2:14:10So you're going to get it early, you know, come preseason ball
- 2:14:14and then by that time you played a lot of preseason ball probably
- 2:14:17like y'all say for example, Gente did because he was that
- 2:14:19dude, because they had you know, they had other people behind
- 2:14:22him, but he would he was drafted first round for a reason.
- 2:14:25That makes it easier. And the really the other part is
- 2:14:27a lot of people don't really, I don't think they see this is the
- 2:14:30elephant in the room. Run plays are the same from the
- 2:14:33high school level all the way up to the pro level.
- 2:14:35That's. True ISO at a high school level,
- 2:14:37it's the same ISO you run at Nebraska, the same ISO you run
- 2:14:40at Boise State. To the I say my so you're going
- 2:14:41to run it. The Raiders power, power gap
- 2:14:46counter, outside toss outside zone.
- 2:14:49It's the same footwork. So he's not having to think
- 2:14:53about, OK, I got to learn cover 3 coverage and I got to learn
- 2:14:56when they're going to blitz from the backside to the place.
- 2:14:59What happens on the mug when the linebackers in an A&B guy, What
- 2:15:02do I that's past stuff, OK, but you can live and learn and make
- 2:15:06mistakes, but then pick it up fast.
- 2:15:08But the run game, what we already do is we've been doing
- 2:15:11it for 1215 years since Little League and I think a lot of
- 2:15:14people missed that. I'm like a lot of the run plays
- 2:15:16that. I ran.
- 2:15:17In Little League, I was running at Green Bay, I was running at
- 2:15:20Seattle, I was running at the Texans.
- 2:15:22So that means for 30 plus years I've been doing this since I was
- 2:15:26yay high to a grasshopper. So it's like, OK, you know, but
- 2:15:29for the quarterback position, that's a whole different thing,
- 2:15:31right? You know, you got players from
- 2:15:33the players to the DCS that are disguising coverages, They're
- 2:15:37cheating, making a cover three look like a cover 1.
- 2:15:40You know, it's all that for us. The run game is like, okay, we
- 2:15:43run. You get the ball, you read your
- 2:15:45blocks just like we did and 5th grade, you watch the double team
- 2:15:49up to the linebacker, then you make your cut off of that.
- 2:15:51Nothing changes. So if you have the talent and
- 2:15:53you know that going into every game plan, then you're going to
- 2:15:57do things that everybody's going to be like, Oh my God, why is he
- 2:15:59doing that? I'm like, oh, because I paid
- 2:16:01attention. Oh, I got it.
- 2:16:02So Armand Green is telling you all, all the players out there
- 2:16:06that want to get into football, be a running back.
- 2:16:08So if you have the athletic ability and you don't really
- 2:16:12have to know anything, just learn what you're learning in
- 2:16:14high school and peewee football and you're going to do that you.
- 2:16:18Do have you do have to know something?
- 2:16:20I'll say that one. I say after that, after that,
- 2:16:23was it Mark? You got to be the hammer, not
- 2:16:26the nail. There you go.
- 2:16:28All right, don't, don't be somebody that absorbs hits.
- 2:16:31Give it out. If you're going to be a runner,
- 2:16:34be that dude. Be like, OK, I want to make it a
- 2:16:36problem. I want to make the defenders not
- 2:16:38want to be around me, basically. And I remember one game it was,
- 2:16:43it was my Seattle, Seattle, couple years, I can't remember
- 2:16:46what game, rookie year maybe. And we played against when they
- 2:16:49were still the Houston Oilers, not at Tennessee Titans.
- 2:16:52And Max Strong, my full back, you remember that name?
- 2:16:56Great full back, great full back, great guy off the field,
- 2:16:59family man, awesome dude, great full back on the field.
- 2:17:02And he had one and he went to Georgia.
- 2:17:04We played the Oilers and one of the guys on the Oilers was his
- 2:17:07teammate at Georgia was a linebacker.
- 2:17:09I can't remember who it was, but I remember Matt comes up and
- 2:17:13grabs me on the shoulder after we're walking in.
- 2:17:14He's like AG, he said. I don't know what you did, but
- 2:17:17one of my boys I went to college with said till #30 to slow his
- 2:17:20ass down. He's running too fast and hard.
- 2:17:25I'm like me. You're doing it right, man.
- 2:17:27You're right. I mean.
- 2:17:28I said I'm back. I can't do that.
- 2:17:30I'm I'm fed. I'm pedal to the metal for four
- 2:17:32quarters. I know I'm not.
- 2:17:33I was even. I was just on special teams dead
- 2:17:35blocking people in the tackle. And he's like, slow down.
- 2:17:37I'm like, I ain't slowing down. I ain't getting cut.
- 2:17:39What's your problem? You better speed up with me.
- 2:17:41Come on. There you go, You know.
- 2:17:43Keep up with the Greenster. Yeah, exactly.
- 2:17:46My last question I'm on Nathan was telling me you do a lot of
- 2:17:48stuff since you've retired from the league with gaming.
- 2:17:51You actually caught taught at Lakeland University a actually
- 2:17:54an E sports class. You have your own gaming company
- 2:17:57now and you've also done some broadcasting work, so talk about
- 2:17:59some of the stuff you've done off.
- 2:18:00The field man, a little bit of everything.
- 2:18:01So yeah, I coached at Lakeland University for almost 2 years
- 2:18:05where I first semester was a Madden Championship national
- 2:18:09title. Curtis Dokey.
- 2:18:10Shout out to my man Curtis Dokey who was the player that I
- 2:18:12coached. 13 and no season and we beat, I believe Mr. Mcgiggles
- 2:18:17from Carthage College in in the in the NECC for a national
- 2:18:22title. Second, we were runner up the
- 2:18:23second semester in the fall. And then about 12 or 13 playoff
- 2:18:28bursts between Overwatch, Call of Duty, Fortnite players, FIFA,
- 2:18:33Super Smash Brothers, Rowing Boat 6, Siege, League of
- 2:18:36Legends, all those games. I've been a gamer since the age
- 2:18:38of 5. My dad did that because he was
- 2:18:41APC guy. He was a guy at a aviation
- 2:18:45facility in north of California in South Central LA or Northup
- 2:18:49Aviation, which is similar to Boeing.
- 2:18:51And that's when it started for me.
- 2:18:52And so now I've turned it into a the next passion, just like
- 2:18:55football. I love doing it.
- 2:18:57I love video games, but also I love the part that relates to
- 2:19:00football or baseball. Basketball is the team aspect
- 2:19:03and some of the skills you learn, you know, accountability,
- 2:19:06you know, dedication, hard work. When you think about video
- 2:19:09games, you probably don't think that because you think about
- 2:19:11Pac-Man and some of the retro games.
- 2:19:13Legend of Zelda, Yeah, those are the fun games.
- 2:19:15Oh, I love, I love Zelda. Love.
- 2:19:17Yeah, But yeah, you look at the games today that are more
- 2:19:20competitive, right? Call of Duty, Fortnite, Madden,
- 2:19:23you know, NBA2K, you know, those games are have they have
- 2:19:27leagues. So now at the college level, all
- 2:19:29around America and around the world, they are universities,
- 2:19:32they're esports organizations that now just like NBA players,
- 2:19:36just like NFL players, they, they get drafted or they get
- 2:19:39picked up, they get signed and they got to practice, they got
- 2:19:42training, they got to work on their mechanics and all that.
- 2:19:45And so did that at Lakeland, transferred over to Nebraska,
- 2:19:49had a couple. I started that program there,
- 2:19:51helped that program get off the ground.
- 2:19:53And now, you know, I just end up doing my own thing, consulting
- 2:19:56now on the road. I do E sports camps for kids,
- 2:19:59middle school, high school, then down to middle school kids to
- 2:20:02teach them how to, you know, play video games the proper way.
- 2:20:05You know, when you're going to be in a team setting.
- 2:20:07Look, you got to hold your own. You got to be accountable for
- 2:20:09your role. If you're going to, you know, be
- 2:20:12a tank in Overwatch or you're going to be the DPS in a in a
- 2:20:16matchup like Marvel. I was anything I like.
- 2:20:19That's a great graphic. I love it.
- 2:20:22Oh man, but but yeah, teaching those fundamentals and so I'm
- 2:20:26doing that as well. Have a couple podcasts and Mind
- 2:20:28Greens Gamers Lounge, just one that's on Twitch, do that every
- 2:20:31Wednesday at 2:00 PM. And then I do my believe in
- 2:20:34Packers within the Believe network where I break down the
- 2:20:36Packers and the season and all that and that's why I know about
- 2:20:39them very much. And then now getting ready for a
- 2:20:42combine, and I'm glad Le Four got resigned.
- 2:20:44They needed to do that because him not being resigned would
- 2:20:47have been a problem for many reasons.
- 2:20:49So good job with a goodie kiss, getting him signed back on and
- 2:20:52getting ready for the combine. But then another job.
- 2:20:56I say not job, but I say job. Yeah, I got brought into him.
- 2:21:00I got moved down to Houston two years ago and a neighbor of
- 2:21:03mine, we became friends. Even though he's a Bears fan and
- 2:21:06a Buckeyes fan, he's a great guy.
- 2:21:09And I met his brother. So Ken and Keith and we're both
- 2:21:12part of company business that Ken came up with is called
- 2:21:16emerging due diligence where we are AM and a company.
- 2:21:20So we're working in acquisitions and for mergers and some I never
- 2:21:23thought I'd be a part of. But what I found out is talking
- 2:21:26to Ken about it, that once we do call to work with a company,
- 2:21:30they have to learn leadership development.
- 2:21:33They got to learn some of those leadership skills, become some.
- 2:21:35Sometimes at the top of a Fortune 500 business, the CEO,
- 2:21:40the head, the founder may be the problem.
- 2:21:42You know, like, for example, the Detroit Lions 10 years ago, that
- 2:21:48wasn't the players on the field. It was the people up top, the
- 2:21:51people that own the team, the Fords, they couldn't figure out
- 2:21:54their right from left or do the business right.
- 2:21:56Same with the Cowboys, right? Jerry Jones even know he's a
- 2:21:59good businessman. Sometimes the good businessmen
- 2:22:02and women, they don't get out the way of themselves to let
- 2:22:05football coaches be football coaches or BGM.
- 2:22:07Let the GM be the GM and he's the GM, you know, I'm saying, so
- 2:22:11teaching that leadership side of it, accountability and stuff,
- 2:22:14that's my job with it. Keith and Ken, him and his, him
- 2:22:18and his brother, they are the part of the guys that do all the
- 2:22:20financial due diligence. Make sure this company that
- 2:22:22we're going to work with is going to be somebody that
- 2:22:25obviously is going to have success and have the awareness
- 2:22:29to basically make pivots if they need to and certain investments
- 2:22:33and pivots when they don't need to.
- 2:22:34And so that's where we all come in as a team.
- 2:22:36So I've been working on that too.
- 2:22:38That's why I'm sweating, you know?
- 2:22:40Are you? You don't look like you're
- 2:22:42sweating. Yeah, but but no, in that space,
- 2:22:45A space that I never thought I would be in in in the financial
- 2:22:47space at the end of my football career.
- 2:22:49So doing real good with that. We got a couple projects going
- 2:22:52and I know one of them is a team over in England that we're a
- 2:22:56part of and their their ownership.
- 2:22:59And it's so fun. Like man, I get to go watch a
- 2:23:01pitch over and in in in England and get a spot of T governor and
- 2:23:06also I love that aspect. I like the Green St.
- 2:23:11Hooligans. I love that movie.
- 2:23:13That's like. My favorite fantastic movie.
- 2:23:16I love that. Movie I bought it like I I saw
- 2:23:18it at Best Buy. I was in Green Bay when it came
- 2:23:20out and I just it's something told me to buy it.
- 2:23:23I said this one I saw the actors some of the actors are still
- 2:23:26acting today doing fantastic job and something told me to buy it.
- 2:23:29I watched that movie and I'm like, OK, they got us on fan
- 2:23:35bases 100%. I know Packer fans are crazy.
- 2:23:37I know bear fans are crazy. I know Cowboy to Raider fans
- 2:23:43Stealer. No, you only got nothing on
- 2:23:45soccer fans over in over in Europe and Asia and Africa where
- 2:23:48other countries. Beat the hell out of each other
- 2:23:50and exactly it's like it. It's to me.
- 2:23:53Other than Philly fans. Other than Philly fans, Philly
- 2:23:56fans, after they win a Super Bowl, they're out there picking
- 2:23:59up horse dump and putting it in their mouth.
- 2:24:01I mean, some of the stuff that Philly fans do is this
- 2:24:03absolutely ridiculous and we've had a lot of ex foot Philly
- 2:24:07players that have come on this show and didn't even know that's
- 2:24:09what Philly fans do. They were paying attention in It
- 2:24:12doesn't take much I knew right away, like the difference
- 2:24:16between Packer fans and Philly fans, but I also knew Packer
- 2:24:19fans could get a little rowdy, right?
- 2:24:21So, for example, remember when Randy Moss scored the touchdown
- 2:24:25and Lambeau? He faked like he was mooning the
- 2:24:27crowd. That's right, I do remember that
- 2:24:29game. He got that from the crowd
- 2:24:31because the crowd moons the away team by the away team locker
- 2:24:34room on the north side of the South side of Lambeau Field.
- 2:24:38That's what I knew. So I wasn't mad at Randy.
- 2:24:41I'm like he just returning the favor to the fan boy did.
- 2:24:43You know, let me tell you, you know, by the way, we just so
- 2:24:47everybody knows we are talking to 12 year pro ball running
- 2:24:50back, former pro ball running back.
- 2:24:53I'm on green. He's he's this the first time
- 2:24:55he's been on a show. He's been sensational before we
- 2:24:57let you go and and I know you're a busy man as you're sweating
- 2:25:01and I'm sweating too because and we want you to that's.
- 2:25:04What I need to? Do by the way, this is this is a
- 2:25:06great interview. And then obviously you've never
- 2:25:08been on a show. We'd love to get you back on the
- 2:25:10show. I think.
- 2:25:11I think you're sensational. I think you have a great
- 2:25:13background not only with EA Sports and and all the different
- 2:25:17video games, E Sports as they call it.
- 2:25:20It's pretty amazing what you're doing.
- 2:25:21Offset of football. Who is the biggest pain in the
- 2:25:24ass on the football field? Who talked the most crap and who
- 2:25:28was the guy that you just love to play against?
- 2:25:31Every single. Game by the one that talked the
- 2:25:33most trash was weren't sad he talked the most even when I'm.
- 2:25:37I'm like walking away trying to ignore him #30 Green talk to me
- 2:25:42come on, brother, I'm like shut up, don't talk to me, talk to
- 2:25:44Brett, leave me alone. The guy that was a problem,
- 2:25:51Yeah, on the football field, his teammate, Derrick Brooks.
- 2:25:54Oh, my God. You talking about a problem?
- 2:25:57He knew where he was smart. He's old.
- 2:25:59Whenever time you run the ball, a gap, B gap, don't matter.
- 2:26:03He's hitting you right in your face.
- 2:26:05And then his teammate on top of that, another Hall of Famer,
- 2:26:07John Lynch. Like, God damn it.
- 2:26:09Like what the hell going on? I got to look left and right and
- 2:26:12I still we're 47. I remember my first play in
- 2:26:15Green Bay as a back in Tampa. Sorry packet.
- 2:26:18We're in Tampa Bay and Dorsey gave me a warning.
- 2:26:20He said AG when we get when you come off the hollow every play,
- 2:26:24whatever you do, find 47 pre snap, check the you know, check
- 2:26:28the perimeter, see where he's at because he likes to hide.
- 2:26:31Sometimes safeties like to do this, and he's like a
- 2:26:34linebacker. It's not fair.
- 2:26:36He says so, 547 And of course, break the huddle. 92 blasts.
- 2:26:40Green, right, 92 blasts. I checked the perimeter.
- 2:26:42Goddammit, where's 47? I can't find him.
- 2:26:45He came out of nowhere. And here's the and Brett goes
- 2:26:47into cadence. You know, green 80, green a
- 2:26:50shit, right? Take the ball.
- 2:26:51I'm like, oh, I got a hold. Boom, I cut back.
- 2:26:53Oh, there's 47. God damn it, that hurt.
- 2:26:55Oh my God, that hurt. They were Tommy Boy when he got
- 2:26:58hit with the the 2 by 4 by David Spade.
- 2:27:00Yes. That's what it's like.
- 2:27:02It don't hurt right here. It don't hurt right here, but
- 2:27:04right around. Here it hurts.
- 2:27:07I walked back to the other like, God damn it, Dorsey was right.
- 2:27:09I said. I didn't doubt Dorsey.
- 2:27:10I didn't. I trusted him and he was dead on
- 2:27:13and never happened again after that.
- 2:27:14Trust me, I knew where 47 was that most of the time and then a
- 2:27:19guy that I say, even though he's a Hall of Famer, we knew how to
- 2:27:24deal with this dude was Mr. Urlacher down in Chicago.
- 2:27:27We knew between me, my fullback and my offensive line, he was
- 2:27:30light in the ass. We love him that I love him to
- 2:27:33deaf. He is my dude.
- 2:27:34He's a good friend of mine. We talk a lot, we trash talk.
- 2:27:36It's all fun and games, but we just knew that we had Will
- 2:27:40Henderson. He was 61250.
- 2:27:41I remember 55. I was 61220.
- 2:27:45Prime weight was 218 and you got me both of of us running
- 2:27:49downhill along with Mike Wall, Marco Rivera, Mike Flanagan,
- 2:27:52Evan Berry, Mark Tauscher clad Clifton.
- 2:27:54You ain't once we get rolling, we like told coach Sherman don't
- 2:27:57even call nothing else other than 9296 counter gap and 95.
- 2:28:03Just let us run that the rest of the drive because we got we got
- 2:28:06Urlacher on skates the whole game like let's go.
- 2:28:09So so yeah, that's that answer. I know that I probably, I think
- 2:28:12that hit them all for all your questions there.
- 2:28:14You did. And by the way, Brian Urlacher,
- 2:28:16I I've seen some of in his weight training when he was
- 2:28:19playing, he was benching like 550 like 10 times off the.
- 2:28:23Chest he had a good upper body. He did his side upper but he but
- 2:28:26if you check out check out his calves.
- 2:28:30Now I could see. That's why he was so fast.
- 2:28:32Like when you get that linebacker so fast because you
- 2:28:35look at his legs. He was a sprinter.
- 2:28:37I mean, he had the talent, but it's like, oh, wait a minute,
- 2:28:40you can't. Forklift.
- 2:28:42You can't move things. I mean, I mean, I hate to say
- 2:28:45it, but I think what's in that? Jerome Bettis, he trucked them,
- 2:28:48too. Oh, yeah.
- 2:28:49That was a weakness. We exposed it.
- 2:28:51Did you have in some cases, did you have some cases?
- 2:28:53I love the Packers and and the Chicago Bears when they played
- 2:28:56against one another every time, just like I I couldn't stand
- 2:28:59watching The Jets play the Patriots because I knew what was
- 2:29:02going to happen. A whole nother story.
- 2:29:04But anyways, I don't want to get into The Jets and Patriots, but
- 2:29:08E sports is now going to be an Olympic sport just so for all
- 2:29:11the fans to know that E sports will be a part of the Summer
- 2:29:15Olympics I think in 2028, so 20. 28 in LA.
- 2:29:20Yeah, I know you're excited. About that, I'm going to be out
- 2:29:22there, man. I'm sure if I got a hitchhike
- 2:29:25and get Scout some tickets, I'm trying to get in the stadium in
- 2:29:30the room. Hey, I know Snoop Dogg.
- 2:29:32I know he's going to be a part of Olympics on some level.
- 2:29:33So I'm going to hit a Snoop, be like, hey man, again, help my
- 2:29:36brother out there. You are.
- 2:29:37There you go, Green St. Hooligans.
- 2:29:40I see it. I like it.
- 2:29:42I like it. Got the got the little salt and
- 2:29:43pepper in the beard there. You go, you got to have a little
- 2:29:46bit of salt and pepper, you know, like I love salt and
- 2:29:49pepper, you know, as the hip hop group and you know.
- 2:29:51Awesome group. Yeah, what a man, what a man,
- 2:29:54What a man. What a mighty good man.
- 2:29:56Anyways, that was for you, my friend.
- 2:29:58I'm not a singer, but that was for you.
- 2:30:00Anyways, we love you. Amen.
- 2:30:03And you to me, you're one of my favorites.
- 2:30:06As far as interviewers, I've interviewed thousands of people
- 2:30:09over the years. But I think you're just down to
- 2:30:11earth. You're straightforward.
- 2:30:13You shoot from the hip. And and I love that about you.
- 2:30:15And to me, it defines who you are as a player, as a teammate
- 2:30:20and as a person. So thank you for joining us.
- 2:30:21We'll, we'll be in touch, my friend.
- 2:30:23We will I'll be back when and like I said, I love when I the
- 2:30:25day I found out Jabba was from Nebraska, I'm like, oh, he's
- 2:30:29another dude that people don't think that exists.
- 2:30:32Hold on. I told people that.
- 2:30:34Hold on. They're like you from Droba.
- 2:30:36I'm like, yeah, Droba one it's. Like.
- 2:30:39Do I have to go? I'm sorry.
- 2:30:41Well, so, so just so you know, Nathan who got you on the show
- 2:30:45and yeah, he's great. So we we have a sound board of
- 2:30:48Nathan of just some of his great takes.
- 2:30:50You already hear some of them. I think you're going to like
- 2:30:52him. All right, here you go.
- 2:30:54Here we go. Breaking news.
- 2:30:55I got to go back off now. Breaking news, Do you want to
- 2:30:59jerk me off? Breaking news, I'm putting you
- 2:31:01on a leash now. Breaking news.
- 2:31:04Smell my ass breaking. News Bagel Almost like each
- 2:31:08other. We all love each other.
- 2:31:12Oh, we got Jabba too. We got Jabba too.
- 2:31:15I had to take, I can't imagine. And I was a baseball player too,
- 2:31:17almost. I got, I was getting scouted by
- 2:31:20the KC Orioles when I was in a sophomore in high school, played
- 2:31:24outfield. So that is amazing.
- 2:31:27I can't. I won't be able to get that
- 2:31:28picture out of my head if I see once I see Nathan.
- 2:31:31He tasted the ball roll. But what the radio roll?
- 2:31:34Dude, every every time niffing goes out in public, he wears
- 2:31:38this blue blazer. I call him the blue Blazer man.
- 2:31:41Yeah, he does. And I tell him all the time.
- 2:31:42Just get just have all these athletes sign and and sign the
- 2:31:47sign the jacket and then just frame it as something after a
- 2:31:52while. I mean, do you wash it?
- 2:31:53Does it actually get washed? I would hope so, but sound
- 2:31:58probably there's a potential that it doesn't.
- 2:32:00I listen, man, he has got the the the weirdest as far as style
- 2:32:05I've ever seen. He wears a red polo with
- 2:32:09camouflage pants with a blue blazer.
- 2:32:11I mean, this guy, he, he needs some help.
- 2:32:14I need to help him. I need to take him out.
- 2:32:17This makes my pecker. As we all there he is he's
- 2:32:19hanging out with there he is. We love the door there he is him
- 2:32:23and chador having some of that nice soup.
- 2:32:26Anyways, we love you man. Let's stay in touch and yeah,
- 2:32:31let's let's get some E sports work in here.

- 2:32:41We'll we'll, we'll hook each other up on that.
- 2:32:43How about? That that sounds good.
- 2:32:44I know you're not a Giants fan. No, you a Jets guy, but the one

- 2:35:35So crushing it guys keep keep telling everybody about it.
- 2:35:38If they would like good entertainment, come check out
- 2:35:40the website, come check out the show Woody call the plays.
- 2:35:43Johnson strikes again. How to pay 12 million and still
- 2:35:48micromanage like it's fantasy football.
- 2:35:51There he is, Mr. Woody Johnson. Jet fans, gather round.
- 2:35:55Bring your coffee, your rage, and maybe a helmet, because this
- 2:35:59ride's about to get chaotic. So let's break this down in
- 2:36:02plain English with Errol Marx energy.
- 2:36:06Aaron Glenn has hired his head coach.
- 2:36:07He's ready to build his staff. He's about to bring in Don
- 2:36:10Martindale, AKA Wink, AKA Blitz, from the parking lot for a
- 2:36:15second meeting and in the NFL interview speak, that's
- 2:36:18basically you're in the elevator, where's your office?
- 2:36:22Then boom, enter Woody Johnson, cigar in mouth, clipboard in
- 2:36:26hand, like he's the defensive coordinator and the boss of the
- 2:36:29cheerleaders. Hey, Aaron, I'm paying you 12
- 2:36:32million, so I expect you to call the place.
- 2:36:36Wait, what? You pay a coach a dozen
- 2:36:37$1,000,000 to hire his guys and then you turn around and
- 2:36:40micromanage him like you're choosing toppings at a pizza
- 2:36:42bar? That's not leadership.
- 2:36:45That's fantasy football energy. All right, we're going to start
- 2:36:49with this one. Just a more generic one.
- 2:36:51This is Dan Stevens, 6515. Aaron Glenn prove this year he
- 2:36:55had no clue what he was doing. Thank you Dan for giving us your
- 2:37:00own opinion. I I agree that he was up and
- 2:37:02down all season long. But think about this, Dan, they
- 2:37:05had a chance to win eight games this year.
- 2:37:07They choked against the Broncos at the tail end of the game they
- 2:37:10chose to get. They choked against the Tampa
- 2:37:12Bay Buccaneers, actually choked against the Steelers in the
- 2:37:16first game of the season. That right there is 3 games they
- 2:37:19could have won, which would have made them six.
- 2:37:22It would have gave him six wins. So yes, he didn't look like he
- 2:37:25had any clue. A lot of coaches in their first
- 2:37:27season did Dan Campbell actually know or even look like he had a
- 2:37:31clue in his first year with the Lions.
- 2:37:34He didn't, so I agree with you. He looked like he didn't have a
- 2:37:37clue. That doesn't mean you throw him
- 2:37:38out and give up on him. That's all I'm saying.
- 2:37:40All right, the next one. This is all Shawl Parish.
- 2:37:44They should blame Aaron. He hasn't made a single decision
- 2:37:45that makes sense. He's gaslighted the fans.
- 2:37:47I think you were dumb with this shitty attitude, including this
- 2:37:49offseason. Thank you all Shall Parrish for
- 2:37:52giving us your take. And I agree with you.
- 2:37:54I don't like how he speaks to the media and, and how he speaks
- 2:37:57to the fan and he doesn't want to give the media any
- 2:37:59information that's going on outside of the locker room.
- 2:38:03He doesn't want to give you any injury reports.
- 2:38:05So I agree with you. I think he needs to be more
- 2:38:07upfront with the with the fans and, and, and obviously the
- 2:38:10media. You're here in New York.
- 2:38:12You should be open to giving the answers.
- 2:38:14But I got to give Aaron Glenn a little bit more credit, even
- 2:38:18though he looks like he doesn't give enough.
- 2:38:20At least he's not doing the things that other coaches have
- 2:38:23done, like Robert Sala airing out information to broadcasters
- 2:38:28and different personalities offset out of the locker room.
- 2:38:31And then how about Mike Petten throwing players in and the
- 2:38:34organization under the bus when he was with Rex Ryan?
- 2:38:37So at least Aaron Glenn isn't doing that.
- 2:38:39But I agree with you, he should be more upfront with the fans.
- 2:38:42All right, let's go to one that actually features Robert Sala.
- 2:38:45So he kind of agrees with you about Woody Johnson.
- 2:38:47This is Pierce, SD 8654. He's the the only owner to ever
- 2:38:51get an F on an NFL PA report card, and that's all you need to
- 2:38:53know about the way Woody Johnson runs the team.
- 2:38:55But hence why Sala and Bowls got another job elsewhere.
- 2:38:58All right, so Pierce, thank you for giving us your take.
- 2:39:01Here's the thing, I could careless what any magazine or
- 2:39:05any report card is giving me as an owner.
- 2:39:08He spends money, does he not? He opens up his pockets, does he
- 2:39:11not? The only thing that I could take
- 2:39:12shots at Woody Johnson now this offseason is the fact that he
- 2:39:16would not bring in Wink Martindale because he would
- 2:39:19rather pay his coach $12 million.
- 2:39:23If you're going to complain about a couple of measly
- 2:39:25millions of dollars when you're that you're the owner of the
- 2:39:28team, you're a multi billionaire, there's a problem.
- 2:39:30But as far as him getting graded an F, I mean, there are a lot of
- 2:39:33other organizations and a lot of other owners that you can give
- 2:39:36FS to, which they didn't. He gave him an F fine.
- 2:39:39Is he a smart guy? He's an intelligent businessman,
- 2:39:42not very good football man. So I agree with you, I grade him
- 2:39:46an F2. But who cares what I think?
- 2:39:48Who cares what any of these magazines or anybody's writing
- 2:39:51and giving your take to? So who cares?
- 2:39:53All right, this one from what it's time you'll know there's
- 2:39:55some organizations where the primary goals to win the Super
- 2:39:57Bowl every year. The Jets are not one of those
- 2:39:59teams on the ownership and front office level.
- 2:40:01All right, So what is it? What?
- 2:40:03What is it again? All.
- 2:40:04Right, so we got. When is it time?
- 2:40:05What? Is it when is when it's time?
- 2:40:07You'll know. OK, when it's time, you know,
- 2:40:08thank you for your your take on that.
- 2:40:10And I agree, maybe The Jets don't know as an organization
- 2:40:13what to do. And The Jets have made a lot of
- 2:40:15mistakes over the last couple of years with the coaches, Bambi,
- 2:40:18obviously, Todd Bowles, Eric Mangini, you name it, they've
- 2:40:22made it. They've stuck out on coaches and
- 2:40:24they stuck out on players. They struck out on getting rid
- 2:40:27of Sam Donald for a second and 4th and he wins the Super Bowl
- 2:40:30with another team in Seattle because they should have just
- 2:40:32SAT and and really developed him.
- 2:40:34Jamal Adams came out on social media to attack The Jets with
- 2:40:37that. So you're not wrong about that.
- 2:40:39But there are other teams going back to the primary source of
- 2:40:43all these other organizations that have completely bombed 1
- 2:40:46here in New York, the New York Giants.
- 2:40:47Have the Giants done the right thing for their organization
- 2:40:50over the last couple of years? Yes, they won in 2007.
- 2:40:53Yes, they won in 2011 and knocked off the undefeated
- 2:40:55Patriots. But look what they've done in
- 2:40:57the last couple of years when it came to coaches and GMs. They
- 2:41:01have struck out and the ones guy that they had and Tom Coughlin
- 2:41:04they gave up on. So I agree The Jets are an
- 2:41:06organization that completely falls flat on their face, but
- 2:41:09there are organizations all through the league that are not
- 2:41:12successful. All right, last one Haas Mir 12
- 2:41:16Jet fancy to stop going to the GameStop buying merchandise and
- 2:41:18make him sell. Do the right thing and hopefully
- 2:41:20he'll sell the team to someone who will bring them back to
- 2:41:22respectability. Haas, Mir, thank you for your
- 2:41:24take. Here's what I'm going to say.
- 2:41:26Nobody's going to stop buying merchandise.
- 2:41:28Nobody's going to spot, stop buying tickets because The Jets
- 2:41:31are going to find ways to give you a good deal.
- 2:41:34Now that we've seen this over and over and over again, when
- 2:41:37teams are really, really bad, they're not going to sell out
- 2:41:40and all that other stuff. Here's the thing, we're in New
- 2:41:42York. The New York Knicks have been
- 2:41:43bad for 2530 years. They sell out Madison Square
- 2:41:46Garden. The Rangers have been up and
- 2:41:48down. They ever won a championship
- 2:41:49since 1994. They still sell out games.
- 2:41:51The Islanders over the years, even at the UBS Arena, the UBS
- 2:41:56Arena, they sold out more games than they the Brooklyn Nets
- 2:41:59because they're James Harden and Kyrie Irving trying to sell
- 2:42:02tickets out of the stadium because nobody gave a crap about
- 2:42:05the basketball team. What I'm saying is here in New
- 2:42:07York, as long as their teams here and as long as their teams
- 2:42:12that are competently playing those games and not choking and
- 2:42:16I meet choking, not showing up to the games, they're going to
- 2:42:18sell out as many tickets as they possibly can.
- 2:42:21And if they don't, they'll sell them on StubHub or something
- 2:42:24else. And and by the way, everybody's
- 2:42:26they're going to buy merch because the jet fans are the
- 2:42:28most dedicated fans in I believe in the NFL.
- 2:42:31It doesn't matter how bad The Jets have been over the years.
- 2:42:34They sell out games, they buy jersey.
- 2:42:36Do you know that The Jets have the 10th most sellable jerseys
- 2:42:40in all of the NFL? Did you know that I could
- 2:42:42believe that their jerseys sell. They're in the top ten in all of
- 2:42:47the league when it comes to merch.
- 2:42:48Why The Jets stink. What it tells me is the fans are
- 2:42:51dedicated behind the behind the players and behind the
- 2:42:55organization. So that's never going to happen.
- 2:42:57So I agree with you, right? Why not show up to the games?
- 2:43:00That's not going to stop anybody buying tickets or even going to
- 2:43:04games and buying merch. So thank you to all the the guys
- 2:43:08that gave us your takes. We really appreciate you.
- 2:43:10We'll be doing this every single week and I'll give you my take
- 2:43:13to it. And I listen, I agree with all
- 2:43:15the Jet fans. The Jets are not a very smart
- 2:43:17organization, but there How many great organizations are there in
- 2:43:21the NFL 7 8. I'm going to say you mentioned
- 2:43:25in your article there's a couple owners that are worse.
- 2:43:27I definitely agree with you on the Browns and the Panthers.
- 2:43:29There are a lot of bad owners. I mean, Miami, you're going to
- 2:43:32tell me Miami has a great ownership over there?
- 2:43:34I mean, come on, guys. I understand that The Jets are
- 2:43:37not an organization you want to play for, but the Giants haven't
- 2:43:41won since 2011. The Giants have lost as many
- 2:43:43games as the New York Jets have in the last 10 to 12 years.
- 2:43:47You're going to tell me that John Harbaugh made the right
- 2:43:50decision going to the New York Giants over any other team and
- 2:43:53other any other organization? No, it was about money.
- 2:43:56It's always about money. That's all I'm going to say
- 2:43:58about that. And, and listen, if The Jets
- 2:44:01fire Aaron Glenn at the end of the season, which they probably
- 2:44:03might, they'll bring in John Gruden or somebody else that
- 2:44:07will take the reins of this organization and get more power.
- 2:44:10And it's all about power in professional sports and money.
- 2:44:13That's all that matters. If you get the money, you get
- 2:44:15the power. They don't care where the team
- 2:44:18is and where the organization is going to lead to.
- 2:44:20So that's all I'm going to say about that.
- 2:44:22And ladies and gentlemen, that is all I got for.
- 2:44:25All righty then. All right, we got call your
- 2:44:28shot. I'm not an X.
- 2:44:30'S and O. 'S guy, right?
- 2:44:31I'm not a tactician. I'm a motivator in the classic
- 2:44:34sense of the word. You know Lombardi, Charles
- 2:44:35Lindbergh, that nun over in India, like those people call
- 2:44:39your shot all righty, then that one over like a Fardon church.
- 2:44:47I like that. Well, all righty then, was the
- 2:44:49last segment. This one's call your shot.
- 2:44:51This one is the one where we get to make some outlandish,
- 2:44:55probably really good money in Vegas, if you could get odds on
- 2:44:58it type of predictions, but ones that we think are going to
- 2:45:03happen for reasons because we are just great sports fans and
- 2:45:07pay real close attention. We all got one tonight.
- 2:45:09Errol, what's the order? I'm going to go speedy fish me.
- 2:45:14Here we go. All right, so fish, I'm going to
- 2:45:16bring up a a a team that you brought up and dial it up.
- 2:45:19And I'm going to bring up one of the Reno Johnny's betting pits
- 2:45:22from last week. Unfortunately, by the way, we
- 2:45:23will not have let's parlay tonight.
- 2:45:24Neither Johnny nor W can make it tonight.
- 2:45:27So but I'm going to bring up one of Johnny's winners from last
- 2:45:29week, and that was the Miami Ohio still undefeated.
- 2:45:31But I am going to call my shot to say not only do they not
- 2:45:34finish undefeated this year, they will lose at least once in
- 2:45:37the regular season. They will not even win their
- 2:45:39conference. There are two other really good
- 2:45:41teams. Akron, who's made the tournament
- 2:45:43a lot, and Kent State who's made the tournament a few times too.
- 2:45:45I think one of them upsets them in the Maxion championship game
- 2:45:50in addition to one of them beating them in the regular
- 2:45:52season as well. Two losses heading into the
- 2:45:53tournament. No need to wear a Speedo.
- 2:45:58Yeah, interesting. One where they have the speedos
- 2:46:01like to try to distract the other team That that I'd
- 2:46:05probably be annoyed and I guess it would distract me.
- 2:46:08Well, my call at your shot is for Speedy, your favorite team,
- 2:46:11and I kind of gave you some clues about this.
- 2:46:13I was. Curious on what this was?
- 2:46:15Let's. Say, I think the Mets are going
- 2:46:18to make a trade from somebody for the AL East for their
- 2:46:22infield arrow this year. And I kind of zeroed in on the
- 2:46:26target because I do not believe Jorge Polanco was the first
- 2:46:29baseman. I think it is absolutely
- 2:46:31ludicrous to think that at like 35 or like I think he's only 32,
- 2:46:35but he's been hurt. A lot, yeah.
- 2:46:37Simeon's 30. 5. Right.
- 2:46:39Simeon's 35 next to him. It just seems like they have a
- 2:46:43lot of guys that play second base and they're going to try
- 2:46:45one at first. I think they need to get a guy
- 2:46:48who plays some first and can hit some DH for them too.
- 2:46:52His name's Andy Diaz. Andy Diaz is on an expiring
- 2:46:55contract for the Rays. It's not that expensive.
- 2:46:58I want to share the screen and show you his baseball savant
- 2:47:01numbers. And listen, baseball savant
- 2:47:04Errol, you don't need to know too much.
- 2:47:05You just need to know red means good, blue means bad.
- 2:47:08So look at all the F in red on his Baseball Savant charts.
- 2:47:13When you have a 353 expected weighted on base, that means you
- 2:47:16are a damn good player. He's in the 80th percentile of
- 2:47:19kind of like power hitters. That's what that means in the
- 2:47:22league. A lot of double S, 2025 homers.
- 2:47:25But look, he has three seasons. Last three years.
- 2:47:28His down year was 281 with a 755 OPS.
- 2:47:32That's better than anything the the Mets could hope for from
- 2:47:35that position right now. And his Goodyear.
- 2:47:38Take a look at what he did IN2023330.
- 2:47:42He had 22 homers, 522 slugging, so that means he had something
- 2:47:45around 40 double S double that year.
- 2:47:49This is a guy that the Mets are destined to give probably too
- 2:47:53good of a prospects for a rental, but is going to be on
- 2:47:57the team and city. I like that.
- 2:47:58I like that one fish. I would hope that would be a
- 2:48:00good move over. I definitely like him more than
- 2:48:02Polacco. If you remember too, I that bad
- 2:48:04year two years ago, he was the one before they trained for
- 2:48:06Chisholm that I said the Yankees should have trained him for at
- 2:48:08the time. Yeah.
- 2:48:10He's a good player. I like.
- 2:48:12It all right, I've got 2 predictions.
- 2:48:15June 14th is going to be the biggest watched event in UFC
- 2:48:23history. So here's my prediction.
- 2:48:26This UFC card is going to be the one of the biggest watched UFC
- 2:48:30end of all time in professional sports.
- 2:48:33Yes, I believe that this card at the White House is going to be
- 2:48:39as big as the Super Bowl, as big as as big as as big and watched
- 2:48:45as the Super Bowl was this year. When it comes to numbers, one of
- 2:48:49the top three, top five of all time.
- 2:48:52I believe that's how many people are going to be watching this
- 2:48:55UFC White House event in on June 14th and you know who's going to
- 2:49:00be making it to this event as he's been training and doing it
- 2:49:04really quietly. Conor McGregor.
- 2:49:07Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the return of Conor McGregor on this
- 2:49:11card is in. It's evitable.
- 2:49:14And how do you what would be inevitable?
- 2:49:16That's right, inevitable because I believe, I don't know if it's
- 2:49:19Chandler, but I believe that his next fight and might might be
- 2:49:24his only fight to return will be against Nate Diaz.
- 2:49:28The return of Conor McGregor won't be against Chandler, it
- 2:49:32will be against Nate Diaz as both guys are training right
- 2:49:36now. Nobody knows why.
- 2:49:38I believe it's because of this UFC White House card.
- 2:49:42June 14th Expect expect Conor McGregor versus Nate Diaz 3 as
- 2:49:49they both return to the Octagon. Wow, pick revolving around your
- 2:49:53least favorite MMA fighter. I'm just predicting it and I, I
- 2:49:57think it's going to happen. I think Conor McGregor will be
- 2:49:59back. I think you'll be on this card.
- 2:50:02And why not? Nobody wants to see him fight
- 2:50:04Chandler. Chandler never wins fights.
- 2:50:06But Nate Diaz, I believe Nate Diaz won both fights.
- 2:50:09I think he got robbed on the second fight.
- 2:50:11And why not have a trio, a trilogy to finish their careers
- 2:50:15off in the Octagon in front of the White House, in front of
- 2:50:18Donald Trump and all the fans that are going to be watching
- 2:50:21it. It will be big for the UFC.
- 2:50:22It's going to be enormous and I think it will be on that card.
- 2:50:27So that's my prediction and the top five watched event in sports
- 2:50:33history. That's my prediction.
- 2:50:35That's how big it's going to be, ladies and gentlemen.
- 2:50:37All right, ladies and gentlemen, when we come back, No, let's
- 2:50:41parlay. But we got tic tac no.
- 2:50:43And what's that smell here on Jabba in the Mouth?
- 2:50:49This is the Jabba and the Mouth sports minutes.
- 2:50:54All right guys, Aaron Fisherman back with your sports minute.
- 2:50:58Got a couple more stories and then we'll go through the
- 2:51:00basketball scores tonight. When the 2020 sixth MLB season
- 2:51:04begins in about 5 weeks, Yankees fans are going to have some
- 2:51:07changes in their broadcast as the YES Network has
- 2:51:10significantly pared down its roster of voices and
- 2:51:13personalities. Yankees will go with David
- 2:51:15Cohen, Paul O'Neill and former manager Joe Girardi as analysts
- 2:51:19alongside longtime play by play announcer Michael Kay.
- 2:51:22Ryan Ruko will work as case filling when he is out and for
- 2:51:25other select dates. This removed longtime analysts
- 2:51:28and sometimes play by play announcer John Flaherty, who
- 2:51:31announced his departure earlier this offseason along with
- 2:51:33analysts and former Yankees Todd Frazier and Friend of the Show
- 2:51:37Jeff Nelson. Justin Shackle will also be
- 2:51:39moved from a play by play fill in role back to the studio role
- 2:51:43along with Frazier, while Flaherty, who is often critical
- 2:51:46of the Yankees front office in recent seasons, and Nelson will
- 2:51:49not be on the broadcast in any capacity.
- 2:51:52In last year's unofficial announcer rankings done by Awful
- 2:51:55Announcing, the Yankees finished 23rd in broadcast, while the
- 2:51:58crosstown Rockville Mets ranked second.
- 2:52:02Some injury news out of Milan for the captain of Team Canada
- 2:52:06and the Pittsburgh Penguins, Sidney Crosby, who left Team
- 2:52:09Canada's quarterfinal win against the Czech Republic in
- 2:52:12the second period after getting hit along the boards by Radko,
- 2:52:15Goodish and Mark and Nakash and doubling over in pain on the
- 2:52:20bench after first. Fears that Crosby, who set the
- 2:52:23record for points in Team Canada Olympics history earlier this
- 2:52:26tournament, would be out for the semis and finals.
- 2:52:28Slash bronze game but reports into ESPN say Crosby has game
- 2:52:32the game and may still be available.
- 2:52:34We're not going to put anyone in harm's way.
- 2:52:37Team Cannon Lightning head coach John Cooper told the media.
- 2:52:39But if he can play, he's definitely going to we'll know
- 2:52:42more again in 24 hours since Crosby has not been ruled out,
- 2:52:46the team has not had to announce a fill in captain as of yet.
- 2:52:49But one candidate for that role, Drew Dowdy spoke about the
- 2:52:52potential loss of Sid the kid from the Canadian squad.
- 2:52:55It's almost impossible to fill the player void but we'll do our
- 2:52:59best guys got to step up. Canada will face in the semi
- 2:53:03finals while the US and Slovakia square off on Friday before
- 2:53:07Sunday's gold medal game. Guys, we are streaming live on

- 2:55:53However, that Slovakia team did have the number one and #2
- 2:55:56overall picks in the NHL draft this year, both getting drafted
- 2:55:59into the Eastern Conference. You guys get multiple guesses.
- 2:56:01Name the two teams that had those players.
- 2:56:04You said this year 2000. 22 NHL Draft.
- 2:56:07They had the 1st and 2nd overall pick.
- 2:56:10Which two teams drafted them? Slovakia.
- 2:56:14From a Slovakia Jesus, I have no idea.
- 2:56:19Did you say the conference or no?
- 2:56:21The East Yep to Eastern Conference.
- 2:56:23I'm going to. I'm going to guess.
- 2:56:24Yep. What do you got?
- 2:56:25The Blue Jackets? Nope.
- 2:56:27I get one more. Yep, we got one more.
- 2:56:41I'm going to guess again, what do you got, Ottawa?
- 2:56:43Nope. The Sharks Eastern.
- 2:56:47Conference. They're West.
- 2:56:48Oh, I thought you said the. I didn't say I didn't know you
- 2:56:50didn't say that. All right.
- 2:56:51And give me the devils. Devils is 1.
- 2:56:54Yes they were. The number two overall pick was
- 2:56:55Simonemic. So who else sucked in the
- 2:56:59Eastern Conference a few years ago?
- 2:57:03That sucked really bad, Tommy. You want me to help you?
- 2:57:07Yeah, you can take one of my picks.
- 2:57:09I was going to guess I'm just looking at the teams now, the
- 2:57:11Blue Jackets. That was already guessed, I
- 2:57:13said. The Blue Jackets.
- 2:57:14All right, never mind. So then, yeah, you can just go
- 2:57:15ahead and take my picks. I'll say Sabres.
- 2:57:18Nope. Worst.
- 2:57:23So like, that was the second pick, the first pick who's the
- 2:57:28Slovakian first overall pick a few years ago.
- 2:57:30Errol the Hurricanes, not the Hurricanes.
- 2:57:34These were in the freaking finals.
- 2:57:37Hurricanes are always good, so they wouldn't be picking at
- 2:57:392:00. Times, No.
- 2:57:44Was this one of the really bad Canadians Years?
- 2:57:48Yes. It was.
- 2:57:51Oh. Which is funny because it was
- 2:57:53actually the year after they made the Phantom Cup in the 56
- 2:57:56game season. They fell off badly the next
- 2:57:59year. Yeah, you're a Slovaksky it.
- 2:58:01Was the first over the winner? Don't ask me how to pronounce
- 2:58:03that. I think the Nith man is ready to
- 2:58:05join us. By the way, y'all.
- 2:58:06Oh, how wonderful. We've been graced by his
- 2:58:09presence. Thank you everybody.
- 2:58:11Thanks for for everybody for letting me join your home dog
- 2:58:16hang out with you on my blue blazer.
- 2:58:17And Fish, he was one of the players I think you mentioned
- 2:58:19got a contract of the offseason. Slakovsky, he was right.
- 2:58:23Three guys. That's what it was.
- 2:58:25You're not naming that. I didn't realize he was picked
- 2:58:29though it. Was the number one pick.
- 2:58:30It was. It was a question mark at the
- 2:58:31time. He was a bigger winger but
- 2:58:32usually wingers unless you're like freak.
- 2:58:35I don't know if I like fast, don't usually go that quickly.
- 2:58:37I don't know if I. All right, Speedy, what's next?
- 2:58:42All right, so that will I will shift to some college
- 2:58:43basketball. I was talking about Miami of
- 2:58:44Ohio in the in my Collier shot. So obviously they're one of the
- 2:58:47undefeated teams. The only other undefeated team
- 2:58:50from the state of Ohio was 1960 Ohio State, which actually
- 2:58:54they're starting forward. One of their starting forwards
- 2:58:56end up being a legendary college basketball coach.
- 2:58:59Who was this player? Who was this player turned great
- 2:59:02coach? Oh man, what school you said?
- 2:59:05Say that again to. Me.
- 2:59:05So this was 1960 Ohio State. They're starting.
- 2:59:09One of their starting forwards became one of the best coaches
- 2:59:12in college basketball history. Oh, Fallens, no clue.
- 2:59:19I didn't tell you, forwards Ohio State?
- 2:59:28Yep. You played for Ohio State in the
- 2:59:296061 season. They lost to the championship
- 2:59:32game, so they didn't finish off the full undefeated season, but
- 2:59:34they were in the regular season. I'm going to take you guess what
- 2:59:36are you at, Pat Riley? Nope.
- 2:59:39College coach? Oh, you could rescind that.
- 2:59:41College coaches. Oh, college.
- 2:59:42Coach legendary college coaches. You could get it I guess though.
- 2:59:45College. You're thinking of the famous
- 2:59:47Texas Western. College coach.
- 2:59:54College coach. Forward 1960s.
- 3:00:00That's hard. Man, so 1960, that means the guy
- 3:00:03is probably dead, right And he's or like 8080 something.
- 3:00:09So it's going to be like someone like old time.
- 3:00:13I'm going to say Bobby Knight it.
- 3:00:17Is Bobby Knight. Very good.
- 3:00:18Wow, I was. Going to say.
- 3:00:19That, but I thought it was going to be too easy.
- 3:00:21Anyone. Good job, Fish.
- 3:00:23I thought. That.
- 3:00:24Maybe I, I, I, I heard that he was Ohio State.
- 3:00:28I already watched that that. Was not going to get.
- 3:00:31That. All right, we're going to go
- 3:00:33down here to the corner. Speedy, don't let me sweep you
- 3:00:38right now, all. Right, We're going to go back to
- 3:00:39Olympic hockey, so in that USA versus Canada gold medal game in
- 3:00:442010 and name two of the three Stanley Cup champions have
- 3:00:47scored for Canada in that game. In 2010, yeah.
- 3:00:53In 2010, Yep. I'll go Jonathan Tayes.
- 3:00:59That is 1. Yep.
- 3:01:01Oh, I'm going to sweep. I'm going to do it all by
- 3:01:04myself. This is what a perfect game.
- 3:01:06Oh my God. I mean, it feels like it's too
- 3:01:10obvious. So I I don't want to say it, say
- 3:01:12it. He's the all time leading point.
- 3:01:15Sidney Crosby. Yep, that was the.
- 3:01:18That was the easier one. I didn't know if you would get
- 3:01:20the other. Timmy, give me some.
- 3:01:22Award give me some bells and whistles for that one look at
- 3:01:24that this is this is makes my perfect game as long as she's
- 3:01:30using dude watch and taking care of my 2 hole I'm.
- 3:01:32Good. Tic Tac.
- 3:01:33No. Perfecto, I'll.
- 3:01:36Give you a. Wow, breaking news I need.
- 3:01:38Britney hope so. Breaking news.
- 3:01:41I got to go back off now. Breaking news, Buck Bug.
- 3:01:45You can't hear me. You can't hear it amongst all
- 3:01:47this. Suck my Indo.
- 3:01:51I love Lisa Ann. Anyways, ladies and gentlemen,
- 3:01:56that was Tic Tac. No?
- 3:01:58And now we have fish. Now we have Doo Doo.
- 3:02:02What's that smell? Pass liquor.
- 3:02:06Hold up. What is that smell?
- 3:02:08What's right smell? Wow, you don't see that every
- 3:02:15day. My rear end is burning.
- 3:02:21Wow, wow. That's all I can say.
- 3:02:25Oops. Gets no coots.
- 3:02:30All right, ladies and gentlemen, this is the final segment of the
- 3:02:34night and it's pretty simple. We're going to tell you a story
- 3:02:37and we're going to tell you what it smells like it it could be
- 3:02:40any story in sports or it could be something else.
- 3:02:43Whatever floats your boat and whatever makes you hard as
- 3:02:47somebody gets hard every single night when he does this.
- 3:02:50Do you want to jerk me off Anyways, ladies and gentlemen,
- 3:02:53we're going to go. Nathan, are you doing this?
- 3:02:56Are you a part of this? I don't have anything.
- 3:02:58All right, so you just sit and listen.
- 3:03:00Here we go. I got to go back off now.
- 3:03:03Anyways. He's going to probably do that
- 3:03:05after in his jail cell anyways. I'll go with fish.
- 3:03:10Tommy, Speedy me. Here we go.
- 3:03:13Smell my ass. OK, let's get it going on.
- 3:03:16What's that smell? The one I've got for you boys
- 3:03:19tonight is the smell of oil money.
- 3:03:25Yes, the Dallas oil money that has been spent, $1,000,000 worth
- 3:03:31for the debuted rookie jersey of Cooper Flag recently at
- 3:03:37Sotheby's private auction, $1,000,000 for the jersey he
- 3:03:42wore the first game of the season this year.
- 3:03:44Put up 10 points and 10 rebounds on October 22nd.
- 3:03:48Flag obviously is having a pretty great rookie season.
- 3:03:52Maybe not a world beating, but a pretty great rookie season.
- 3:03:55But it appears that the collectors market, especially in
- 3:04:00the Dallas area, is all over the future prospects of 1 Cooper
- 3:04:05Flag that $1 million investment might be just that over some
- 3:04:11time as he goes forward. So what does it smell like?
- 3:04:14I looked up what crude oil smells like.
- 3:04:17It smells like a complex, pungent mixture of gasoline,
- 3:04:21kerosene, diesel and sulfur, which is rotten egg smell.
- 3:04:26That's I guess. What?
- 3:04:27How far it is? The smell of money in Dallas.
- 3:04:31I have no sack. All right, Well that's
- 3:04:37interesting for my what's that smell?
- 3:04:39I'm going to actually not even take the route of sports for the
- 3:04:42first time. I'm taking that non route of
- 3:04:50sports and we're actually going to go into the realm of movie
- 3:04:52business, go with people who have been living under a rock
- 3:04:55and don't know who Academy Award winner Nicholas Cage, who that
- 3:05:00is. Then you guys are living on a
- 3:05:01rock, like I said, but basically Nicholas Cage, for those who
- 3:05:08don't know of I was about to say lives under a rock voices,
- 3:05:13what's it called? Basically voices a Spiderman in
- 3:05:17the in the animated series known as Spiderman into the Spider
- 3:05:20verse for those who aren't familiar with that.
- 3:05:22It's pretty. Pretty popular animated series
- 3:05:25basically on top of that in the show, Nicolas Cage, like I said,
- 3:05:28voices the sort of spider noir vigilante spider man in the
- 3:05:31show. Well, I don't know who decided
- 3:05:34it was a good idea, but we now have Nicolas Cage coming to
- 3:05:37Amazon Prime Video with his own spider noir film.
- 3:05:41I don't know if it's going to be a film show yet it doesn't look
- 3:05:44all that great everybody. I got to be completely honest
- 3:05:46with you and considering that he has this movie with Amazon Prime
- 3:05:50coming out with. Him portraying John.
- 3:05:52Madden. I don't really understand what?
- 3:05:54Who wants to see Nicolas Cage best Spider man in the year
- 3:05:572026? It's just that probably as good
- 3:06:00of going out and seeing someone like Pete Carroll getting the
- 3:06:03job of the Raiders coach. So what does that smell like?
- 3:06:07Well, in honor of the Madden movie I just mentioned, it's
- 3:06:09going to smell like the most rancid and rotten Turk Duncan
- 3:06:13that you can imagine being shoved up the one and only Lisa
- 3:06:18Ann. So there we go.
- 3:06:20Oh dildo, can I touch it? I love Lisa Ann Cage.
- 3:06:24That's great fish. All right, if I said if you
- 3:06:28ever, if you don't ever want to get a shot at Lisa ad maybe you
- 3:06:30have to be a animated spider man.
- 3:06:33Actor, my pinky is bigger than yours and.
- 3:06:35It probably is, but I'll stay with college basketball for
- 3:06:38mine. This is kind of a duel.
- 3:06:40What's that smell? Two different storylines, both
- 3:06:42centering around the same person.
- 3:06:43A interesting week for UCLA head coach Mick Cronin.
- 3:06:47So on Monday he comes out. So Houston head coach Calvin
- 3:06:51Sampson was taking shots at their basketball program for not
- 3:06:55doing enough with NIL deals. Mick Cronin responds by venmoing
- 3:07:00him a dollar and saying, oh, here, here's some a little
- 3:07:03charity to help you out with with the funding of that.
- 3:07:06So that was Monday and then on Tuesday against Michigan State
- 3:07:10when they were getting blown out badly.
- 3:07:12Their their center Stephen Jamerson the second did a
- 3:07:15flagrant foul and before the referees could even address that
- 3:07:19action to whether it was a flagrant one or a flagrant 2, he
- 3:07:22ejects him from the game. Doesn't even just bench him,
- 3:07:25doesn't even do anything. Just discipline just throws him
- 3:07:26out of the game. Tommy is a response.
- 3:07:29I guess it's a flagrant too. No need to consult from the
- 3:07:32referee. So a double double duty for Mick
- 3:07:34Cronin of an eventful. Week for him.
- 3:07:37For the UCLA head coach. So what does that smell like?
- 3:07:39Well, Lonzo, Lonzo Ball was a UCLA alum and he had a very
- 3:07:43dramatic father. Thought he could beat Michael
- 3:07:46Jordan. So when he loses 777 and nothing
- 3:07:49in their hypothetical pickup game, it smells like lavar
- 3:07:52balls, jock strap and tears. Never going raw.
- 3:07:59All right, ladies and gentlemen, our final.
- 3:08:02What's that smell goes to the Olympics and Elisa Liu, who wins
- 3:08:07the gold medal for skating. Women's gold medal 20 year old
- 3:08:12Olympic now gold winnow gold medal winner.
- 3:08:16A California native after two years removed and unretired.
- 3:08:21She wins the gold medal and it's just an amazing story When you
- 3:08:26think about somebody that walked away from skating and then comes
- 3:08:29back and and it competes. She's a world champion and then
- 3:08:33complete competes in an Olympics in Milan, who she was definitely
- 3:08:38going to be a medal contender, but wasn't going to wasn't
- 3:08:42expected to even win the gold and to pull off this long skate
- 3:08:46and do what she did. It's an amazing, amazing story.
- 3:08:49So congratulations to Elisa Liu for winning the gold medal for
- 3:08:54the women's skate and sensational story.
- 3:08:57Retired 20 year old retired, stepped away from skating,
- 3:09:01didn't want to do it anymore, came back after an injury and
- 3:09:04just blew everybody away in the last two years in the world
- 3:09:07champion championships and now the Olympics and wins her first,
- 3:09:10maybe not last gold medal. She's only 20 years old.
- 3:09:13Maybe she competes in four years.
- 3:09:15We'll see what happens. But great story.
- 3:09:17She just won herself a lot of money.
- 3:09:20Let me tell you, endorsements and all the, the great things
- 3:09:24that Olympic winners win over the years, sponsorships.
- 3:09:28This girl has a smile on her face.
- 3:09:30And by the way, what is that thing between her teeth?
- 3:09:33I, I've been wondering, you know, what is that?
- 3:09:35I guess it's an earring or some kind, I don't know, but I, I
- 3:09:40love everything about her. She, it's a great story.
- 3:09:42Congratulations to her and congratulations to all the gold.
- 3:09:46Oh, by the way, congratulations to Team USA women's hockey for
- 3:09:50winning the gold medal against Team Canada in overtime.
- 3:09:53They were down 1 nothing going to the third period.
- 3:09:56Take it to overtime and win the gold medal against Team Canada.
- 3:10:00So great story as well. Congratulations to Team USA
- 3:10:03Hockey as well. Anyways, thank you to Aman Green
