- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville, Jaguar's fans, welcome into Duval, daily presented by Genjag.com and fueled by Rastax Coffee right now.
- 0:05[SPEAKER_00]: We have got sleeper players to watch in.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_00]: Jaguar's training camp again.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_00]: Training camp gets kicked off on the field.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_00]: Next week, July 29, Wednesday, cannot wait to be out there.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, it will be warm.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, it will be humid, but it's a lot of fun.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_00]: It is football.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_00]: We are finally almost there.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_00]: But right now, five players that I think it's fair to consider sleepers.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_00]: For the Jack Wars and training camp and sleepers to watch as in like, could these guys make the roster?
- 0:38[SPEAKER_00]: Could these guys actually make an impact in 2026?
- 0:43[SPEAKER_00]: I think.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_00]: I think without injuries happening in front of them on the depth charter on the roster.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_00]: I think there's a chance for
- 0:57[SPEAKER_00]: three of these players, potentially, to do something on their respective sides of the ball outside of just making plays on special teams.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_00]: So we're gonna get into it.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all being here.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_00]: And also hit that high button.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_00]: You can also check out jingjag.com.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_00]: Pick up some new dovall gear.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_00]: So I said three out of the five probably have, an outside chance of making an impact on their respective side of the ball.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_00]: But beyond that, I just think that these are players.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_00]: not household names, even in Jacksonville, that we'll probably play pretty darn well during training camp in the preseason.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_00]: So let's get into it.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_00]: Devon Marshall, the undrafted for agent, corner back out of NC State, he was undrafted because he did not run very fast and he's not the biggest guy out there, but a player who I thought should have been drafted early day three.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I would have not have batted and I if a team took him late third round.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_00]: even with running slow.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_00]: That's how good he is and how instinctive he is in zone coverage.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_00]: And you saw that pop up multiple times throughout the offseason program and now heading into his first training camp.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_00]: He has an opportunity to make some noise and everyone right now is rightfully talking about
- 2:16[SPEAKER_00]: the undrafted free agent last year out of Oregon, Jabar Mughammit, who's a player, I also really liked coming out of Oregon.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_00]: He was on draft of last year because he's very, very undersized.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_00]: But Devon Marshall was the second highest rated zone corner in football last year, College Football, behind Chris Johnson, who was a really good cornerback prospect in his own right.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_00]: Had Marshall run in like the four, fours,
- 2:43[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, easily out of said he should have in a day to pick, but so I think that Devin Marshall, you combine his college resume, what we saw from him early on in the offseason program, I think he has a chance to make an impact.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_00]: And if not make the back end of the roster at corner, definitely be one of those guys that you could see making the roster next year.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_00]: And you obviously hope, if somebody doesn't make the roster in their young player, that you can stash them on the practice squad and kind of, you know, develop them there, but that doesn't always work out, but you would hope that that would be the case with him or with any of these guys.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_00]: Branson Combs, I have up next.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_00]: The linebacker undrafted free agent last year, really good player.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_00]: There's been some chatter about, you know, maybe he could push for a starting job.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_00]: Next to foe, Luke, and push ventral Miller for a starting job.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe, it's possible.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_00]: I say, let's just go out and play well right now, and see what happens.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_00]: I think ventral Miller is probably too experienced, too good in his own right for Branson Combs to kind of jump him.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_00]: But you never know, he's an explosive player, really good tackler, places but off, works as butt off,
- 4:07[SPEAKER_00]: He made plays last year.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_00]: Last year there were so many moments where I thought, you know, white linebacker numbers in the 50s.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_00]: I thought that it was Jack Kaiser out there making a play.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_00]: And then I took a moment and looked at the number again.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, oh, that's Branson Gomes.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_00]: And not that Jack Kaiser didn't make plays.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_00]: He did.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_00]: But like Branson Gomes was a playmaker last training camp.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_00]: He's looked good so far this off season.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_00]: I'm looking for him to have a really impressive camp and preseason.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_00]: The next three guys are all rookies that for lack of draft capital, really two of them are draft picks, but they're late late round picks.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_00]: Zach Dürfie, I have up next year, the Washington Eddrescher, so if you're not familiar with him,
- 4:57[SPEAKER_00]: Had injuries in different things throughout his collegiate career, had a really good final season at Washington last year.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_00]: And then tests six foot four and a half, 247 and a half pounds.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_00]: over a 39-inch vert, which is crazy.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_00]: Four-fives for the 40-art dash, which is really good.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_00]: And again, very productive last year.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_00]: And then, in the offseason program, he popped a couple times in the team portions of practice.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_00]: So that's somebody who you look at, the Jaguar's defensive line depth chart.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_00]: Right now, it looks like it's gonna be a long shot for him to make the team.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_00]: But because there are some questions about like, beyond Josh Hines Allen and Traybaum Walker, who is actually your edge three, who is actually your edge four, edge five?
- 5:48[SPEAKER_00]: Do you keep five pure edges, et cetera, right?
- 5:53[SPEAKER_00]: Durfrey will have an opportunity because he has a different kind of skill set in my opinion, then a Danny Strigo, a BJ Green, a Wesley Williams, which would be probably those, those three guys you would think would have the best chance at getting the most edged rush snaps behind Trevon and Josh, but he's got more speed and explosiveness than those guys do.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_00]: BJ Green's an
- 6:20[SPEAKER_00]: He's six foot two, but he's like, you know, a little bit more filled out.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_00]: Danny Sturgo Good athlete, but not like athleticism isn't as calling guard.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's just a Works his butt off has decent size decent athleticism very smart
- 6:38[SPEAKER_00]: plays with his hair on fire and then Leslie Williams, big guy out there too, the Jaguar is traded up for in the fourth round this year.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_00]: But Dürfi, again, I think has probably more just pure upside as a russia speed russia than any of those guys do, so somebody to keep an eye on for sure.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_00]: Jamari Taylor, undrafted for agent running back out of Virginia, similar to Devon Marshall, I thought Jamari Taylor could have been a fourth round pick.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_00]: like he had the complete skill set when it came to being a talented runner, really good receiver out of the backfield and good in Paspro.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_00]: So I thought he had kind of the
- 7:20[SPEAKER_00]: the three tool prospect kind of deal thing going on at running back and he didn't run very well either.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_00]: So I thought I did not think he looked slow on tape.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think he has like that final gear to run away from people, but he's got quickness and elusiveness and toughness.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_00]: He's a tough-runnery regs tackles.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_00]: So he's somebody that is there a real path to him being
- 7:50[SPEAKER_00]: without an injury, right?
- 7:52[SPEAKER_00]: You have Chris Rodriguez, basically who didn't leak went Allen.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_00]: I think, Jamari Taylor, he might be a more talented overall player than leak went Allen.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_00]: However, you cannot have leak went Allen on this football team.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_00]: You cannot.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_00]: He is the type of tough player,
- 8:20[SPEAKER_00]: gritty player, edgy, um, just absolute pitbull out on the field that you need that energy.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_00]: And it's not just for the, it's energy for the sake of energy.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, he makes plays.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_00]: He makes big blocks.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_00]: He catches the football.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_00]: He makes tackles on special teams.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you cannot not have liquid Allen on this football team.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_00]: I strongly feel that way.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_00]: But good gemari Taylor, make you think
- 8:51[SPEAKER_00]: potentially.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_00]: I really do think that.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_00]: So somebody to keep an eye, I think he's going to have a really good camp in preseason.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_00]: And I think he's going to play to a level that it makes it hard to not keep him because you're probably not keeping him on the practice squad because somebody's probably going to take him, taking from you.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_00]: And then CJ Williams, who I would say the rookie at a Stanford
- 9:16[SPEAKER_00]: if if the Jaguars had to make decisions or project decisions for the end of training camp, he would probably be the fifth or sixth receiver.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, there's no guarantees.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_00]: There's some veterans still trying to keep jobs at the back end of the roster.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_00]: There's gonna be guys competing for sure.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_00]: But I do think CJ Williams, who has good size, really good route running sweet feet, like he's a good route runner in terms of creating separation at the top of his route.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_00]: And then he's also really good at having good feet close to the sideline, get the feet down in bounds, things like that.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_00]: It was productive at Stanford.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_00]: There's not one part of his game that really stands out and it's like an elite trait.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_00]: But he produced at Stanford last year in a big way.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_00]: He did really, really good work during the offseason program.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_00]: I'm excited to see him with the pads coming on.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_00]: And those are just five players for sure that I will be keeping an eye on.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, to Barman Muhammad, there's other guys out there.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_00]: You could say Tanner Coziel, for sure, another rookie, drafted a little bit higher than the guys we talked about, but he's not projected to be like a starter or even a second string, but he's somebody I think will make an impact during training camp in the preseason.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_00]: He's just a very talented receiving tie-dend.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_00]: So that'll do it here.
