- 0:02Speaker 1: Here's your host, Alex Garrett.
- 0:09Speaker 2: All right, well, this week, in the latter half of
- 0:12Speaker 2: the week, it's gonna be the Mets turn to have
- 0:14Speaker 2: the Late Championship Series in New York City. I am
- 0:18Speaker 2: just over the moon that both teams are in the LCS.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Over the moon. The baseball is alive and well in
- 0:22Speaker 2: New York. All right, But to represent the back half
- 0:25Speaker 2: of the week, I have J. Matt Customs on my line.
- 0:28Speaker 2: You know, Jerome, we've been talking about this for a while.
- 0:31Speaker 2: The mister oh my god, signed man is on my line.
- 0:35Speaker 2: What's up, sir.
- 0:36Speaker 3: It's good to see. It's finally good to get some
- 0:39Speaker 3: time together. And what better time than coming off of
- 0:42Speaker 3: a fresh win to kind of like recap you know
- 0:45Speaker 3: what it's been like the last couple of days in LA.
- 0:47Speaker 3: But there's been a lot since we've kind of talked last.
- 0:49Speaker 2: So I missed the punchline. We're actually reporting to me
- 0:52Speaker 2: from the airport right after the game in LA. First
- 0:56Speaker 2: of all, you're just a guy from Queens who made
- 0:58Speaker 2: this sign. And sure you made it, you didn't think
- 1:01Speaker 2: you'd be in the LCS carrying it around La, am
- 1:04Speaker 2: I right?
- 1:06Speaker 3: No, for sure, I mean I'm you know, born and
- 1:08Speaker 3: raised in Queens Living. I live in Jersey right now,
- 1:10Speaker 3: but not right now. That's that's where where our home is,
- 1:14Speaker 3: but close enough where it doesn't take me too long
- 1:16Speaker 3: to get to the park. But it's it's been an
- 1:19Speaker 3: absolute amazing time and it's funny. I think I think
- 1:23Speaker 3: somebody had envisioned this, and I think that I'm going
- 1:26Speaker 3: to give it the credit to of the man himself,
- 1:29Speaker 3: Steve Cohen. He and I had a conversation after the
- 1:32Speaker 3: the second MG sign was delivered in July to the
- 1:35Speaker 3: Mets in Pittsburgh. He had a conversation with me and said, hey,
- 1:39Speaker 3: how's this making you feel? And you know, I told
- 1:41Speaker 3: him what it meant, you know how I how I
- 1:43Speaker 3: felt about it, and uh, you know, as a fan
- 1:46Speaker 3: to have like this experience of like, you know, players
- 1:49Speaker 3: holding it up and you know, having people text me
- 1:52Speaker 3: and send me pictures of it. It's still like to
- 1:56Speaker 3: this day, like people always like will send me like
- 1:58Speaker 3: a snapshot, Hey, your sign was in the dugout being
- 2:01Speaker 3: held there through this home run or this.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Home run, because you know, do you watch every picture?
- 2:07Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 2:08Speaker 3: I watch. I watched pretty much every pitch. I mean
- 2:10Speaker 3: as much as I can. It's very rare that I'm
- 2:12Speaker 3: not front of a television watching a game, more in
- 2:15Speaker 3: person at a game. If I could, you know, if
- 2:17Speaker 3: I could attend, well.
- 2:19Speaker 2: Let's all the sign to get to the dugout. I mean,
- 2:21Speaker 2: they don't just get there by himself. You personally delivered it,
- 2:24Speaker 2: right am, I right on that.
- 2:25Speaker 3: Yeah, I personally delivered it. But you know, the second
- 2:28Speaker 3: time that I delivered it was a little bit different
- 2:30Speaker 3: than the first. So the first time it was I
- 2:32Speaker 3: was given it to uh to to Alex Cohen at
- 2:35Speaker 3: the at the cake corner. I made it that morning,
- 2:38Speaker 3: brought two signs with me.
- 2:39Speaker 4: She saw me. She saw me in the cake corner.
- 2:41Speaker 3: I was taking a selfie with mister and missus Matt
- 2:44Speaker 3: and uh She's like, wow, what a beautiful sign.
- 2:46Speaker 4: What do you plan on doing with that?
- 2:48Speaker 3: I'm like, I want to bring one into the stadium
- 2:49Speaker 3: for myself and the other one for the team.
- 2:52Speaker 4: Can you help me?
- 2:53Speaker 3: And you know, she said, yeah, but I'm not going
- 2:56Speaker 3: to give it to them unless you sign the back
- 2:57Speaker 3: because I want them to know that it's coming from
- 3:00Speaker 3: I'm a fan and not you know, someone who we
- 3:02Speaker 3: hired to give it to them because I think it's
- 3:03Speaker 3: kind of cool that, you know, a fan did that.
- 3:06Speaker 4: Sure, and you know, she she she.
- 3:08Speaker 3: Had it brought to h to the clubhouse and it
- 3:11Speaker 3: got to the team.
- 3:13Speaker 4: Jose wasn't in the clubhouse at the time it happened.
- 3:15Speaker 3: He was getting treatment, and it made its way to
- 3:19Speaker 3: the dugout and I got a message from a friend
- 3:22Speaker 3: on you know, I'm the third inning. My friend James
- 3:26Speaker 3: hit me up and said, hey, Jerome, like, dude, your
- 3:29Speaker 3: signs of the dugout, Like, let me send you a picture.
- 3:31Speaker 3: He sends me a picture. Tyrone Taylor goes yard. Now
- 3:35Speaker 3: they're holding it up, Peter Lonza go yard, they're holding
- 3:38Speaker 3: it up.
- 3:40Speaker 2: And then the picture, you know, starting picture goes seven
- 3:42Speaker 2: innings are holding it up.
- 3:43Speaker 3: After that, it's just really yeah, it's just become this
- 3:47Speaker 3: like this thing. But you know, going back to what
- 3:49Speaker 3: I was saying about Steve Cohen, he had he had
- 3:52Speaker 3: envisioned it. He's like, you know, how would you, you know,
- 3:55Speaker 3: think about how you feel right now. Imagine how you
- 3:58Speaker 3: feel if this team goes was on a deep run
- 4:01Speaker 3: and you know they're in the playoffs and and they're
- 4:04Speaker 3: fighting for their their playoff lives and you know that's
- 4:07Speaker 3: three months from now, so you know what exactly he had,
- 4:12Speaker 3: you know, thought could potentially happen. I mean we all
- 4:15Speaker 3: kind of think that kind of pie in the sky,
- 4:17Speaker 3: but you know, the writing was on the wall. I
- 4:19Speaker 3: had asked them that they, you know, are we going
- 4:20Speaker 3: to add some some players. I mean, that's probably the
- 4:23Speaker 3: biggest question that anybody wants to know the deadline. And
- 4:26Speaker 3: he's like, we just added philm Maiton and I was like, okay,
- 4:30Speaker 3: but you know, obviously we we did a little bit
- 4:32Speaker 3: more after that, obviously with you know, Brazilbah and uh
- 4:36Speaker 3: and Winker and Static.
- 4:38Speaker 4: You know that there's just so many winkers change.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Let me ask you about meeting the guy who's song
- 4:45Speaker 2: is obviously as the inspiration for this me I Glaciers
- 4:48Speaker 2: for the first time.
- 4:50Speaker 3: What was that like, I mean we had some non
- 4:53Speaker 3: verbal communication the night of OMG when he was doing
- 4:55Speaker 3: the concert. Like I'll never forget being brought down to
- 4:59Speaker 3: the dugout by Justin Manning, the the on field host
- 5:03Speaker 3: MC saw me standing on the top of one fourteen
- 5:07Speaker 3: trying to make my way down. They wouldn't let me
- 5:09Speaker 3: down because no one had any idea, what what, what,
- 5:11Speaker 3: Whatever's about?
- 5:12Speaker 4: And I only had a standing room ticket that night.
- 5:14Speaker 4: So he's like, follow me. I'm gonna take you down.
- 5:17Speaker 3: So he brings me down, stiffs me down behind a
- 5:20Speaker 3: dugout who wrote behind a dugout?
- 5:22Speaker 4: Mind you?
- 5:25Speaker 3: And uh the game ends. Jose performs and I'm just
- 5:30Speaker 3: standing there in Aucust this this really cool firework show.
- 5:33Speaker 3: But before that everything blacks out. He thinks, oh my god,
- 5:38Speaker 3: no one expected that he was going to have a concert.
- 5:42Speaker 3: But then the team rushes him with you, oh my
- 5:46Speaker 3: god sign and then a few different people point to
- 5:49Speaker 3: him and point to me, and I raised my hand,
- 5:52Speaker 3: and you know, we have this like like non verbal
- 5:54Speaker 3: like you know, you tap your heart and you know
- 5:56Speaker 3: you thank somebody. Relationship started there. And then a week later,
- 6:04Speaker 3: when I was delivering a sign to the Brooklyn Cyclones,
- 6:08Speaker 3: sign that cracked the sign that I brought and cracked
- 6:12Speaker 3: and the fell out of my hand and off I
- 6:14Speaker 3: was just like going through this hollow ground in Coney
- 6:17Speaker 3: Island where a lot of our players have come from,
- 6:20Speaker 3: and the sign breaks. I go to the car, I
- 6:23Speaker 3: fix it, build it delivered to the team around the
- 6:27Speaker 3: seventh inning of the game. I got a text message Yo, Twitter,
- 6:32Speaker 3: there a picture of your sign, and I stay on
- 6:35Speaker 3: it and had this orange tape on it. The O
- 6:37Speaker 3: popped off of the sign and immediately I'm like, Okay,
- 6:42Speaker 3: I need to figure out when I can get into
- 6:44Speaker 3: the shop. I wasn't going to go to the shop
- 6:45Speaker 3: on July fourth, so I was in there on Friday
- 6:48Speaker 3: making a new sign.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Now this is your own shop or tell us about
- 6:51Speaker 2: your studio? And has the studio business obviously increased since
- 6:54Speaker 2: all of this kicked up?
- 6:56Speaker 3: No, it has. You know, I work out of a
- 6:58Speaker 3: space that's like a cooperave like it's it's it's a
- 7:02Speaker 3: makerspace in New Jersey, and you know, if you have
- 7:04Speaker 3: an idea like you basically pay a membership.
- 7:08Speaker 4: To use the space.
- 7:09Speaker 3: You can use all the tools and everything else that
- 7:11Speaker 3: they do. I've been going there for about four years,
- 7:13Speaker 3: and I pay a business rates, so that means I'm
- 7:16Speaker 3: going to be there more. I'm going to, you know,
- 7:18Speaker 3: pay a little bit more so I can bring some
- 7:20Speaker 3: folks with me to help out. Whereas other folks that
- 7:23Speaker 3: use it, you know, are using it a lot more casually,
- 7:26Speaker 3: and I have. I've pretty much used it to run
- 7:30Speaker 3: all of my fabrication, and I've been doing that for
- 7:32Speaker 3: the better part of the last like four years now,
- 7:36Speaker 3: but those production has been crazy.
- 7:40Speaker 2: No, you know, I was going to say, are people
- 7:42Speaker 2: people are buying the signs? Also? Right for the team?
- 7:44Speaker 2: People are literally investing in these signs now, right?
- 7:47Speaker 3: Yeah? Now people are they? You know they? You know,
- 7:49Speaker 3: ever since, like you know, I did a couple of
- 7:54Speaker 3: I did a couple of news features, and you know,
- 7:56Speaker 3: I'm getting some publicity recently with NBC and CBS and
- 8:03Speaker 3: had a lot of different places that have just recognized
- 8:05Speaker 3: the fact that this was brought to the team. This
- 8:08Speaker 3: in turn increased you know, people's desire to want to
- 8:11Speaker 3: have it, because if it was just a regular season thing,
- 8:14Speaker 3: I think it would have ended on September thirtieth, the
- 8:18Speaker 3: last game, and you know, everything would have just kind
- 8:21Speaker 3: of gone could put.
- 8:21Speaker 4: But now it's like people.
- 8:22Speaker 3: Are looking at it as a collectors on it because
- 8:25Speaker 3: we don't go to playoff games very often. We were
- 8:27Speaker 3: not in the playoffs. We've been in the playoffs eleven
- 8:29Speaker 3: times in sixty two years. That's not a huge level
- 8:32Speaker 3: of success from from from that standpoint, and now people
- 8:36Speaker 3: are comparing this season to other seasons and what it
- 8:39Speaker 3: means to people. I mean, I remember, you know, the
- 8:43Speaker 3: ninety nine season, it was a wild card season and
- 8:45Speaker 3: we got in.
- 8:46Speaker 4: It was such an age. Remember the day before incredible time,
- 8:49Speaker 4: the day.
- 8:50Speaker 2: Before the playing game of that year that would you know,
- 8:53Speaker 2: no hit basically one one hit shutout. The day before
- 8:56Speaker 2: I'm at Chase Stadium watching Piazza at the play. It's
- 8:59Speaker 2: a wild pitch and the meant to beat the pirates
- 9:01Speaker 2: to get in. That whole run was something else. And
- 9:03Speaker 2: then of course the grand single. So yeah, well Craves
- 9:07Speaker 2: my little heart you know from the childhood, was healed
- 9:10Speaker 2: because I remember the bird used to be the break.
- 9:13Speaker 2: You know, they used to break hearts all over the
- 9:15Speaker 2: city back then. But five years later and you were
- 9:19Speaker 2: there to watch Lindor hit that homer, and I have
- 9:23Speaker 2: to say that day, I'm sure you've got the sign
- 9:26Speaker 2: with some kind of magic, some guy of luck going
- 9:28Speaker 2: into Truist Park, right, I mean, to get that homer
- 9:31Speaker 2: the way he did.
- 9:32Speaker 3: Yeah, No, I mean there's just been there's been so
- 9:36Speaker 3: many different moments throughout the course of the season that
- 9:39Speaker 3: I just like made me feel like, wow, there's just
- 9:41Speaker 3: something magical happening with the team. Winkers walk off, I
- 9:46Speaker 3: was at one of the Antosis walk offs. I was,
- 9:50Speaker 3: I was. I wasn't at the Ali walk off that week.
- 9:53Speaker 3: It was from one game I think that I missed
- 9:55Speaker 3: that week. But funny enough, when I was in pitch
- 10:00Speaker 3: Burg and brought the first MG sign Edwin Diaz blew
- 10:04Speaker 3: that save. It I think it was might have been
- 10:07Speaker 3: a four out safe but or a six out save,
- 10:10Speaker 3: but it wasn't a safe because he blew the save.
- 10:13Speaker 3: And then we won the game of extras on Lindor's
- 10:16Speaker 3: base hit and.
- 10:17Speaker 4: We won that game.
- 10:18Speaker 3: I think it was two to one, and the history
- 10:20Speaker 3: repeated itself, but instead of a single or a double,
- 10:25Speaker 3: he hits this monster to run home run to give
- 10:28Speaker 3: us the lead after we had given it up. And uh,
- 10:31Speaker 3: it was on a d has blown save and then
- 10:33Speaker 3: d As mopped up his his his his blown save.
- 10:37Speaker 3: So really really like wild you know, stuff happening with
- 10:42Speaker 3: this team, like being.
- 10:42Speaker 4: At the Milwaukee game and and.
- 10:47Speaker 2: You were there hold the sign after the Alonzo at
- 10:49Speaker 2: that and by the way, best walk year hit I've
- 10:52Speaker 2: ever seen of any postseason regular season I mean that guy, Uh,
- 10:57Speaker 2: I think he wants to me in New York a
- 10:58Speaker 2: little longer.
- 10:59Speaker 3: What do you think, Listen, I think he does too.
- 11:01Speaker 3: I mean it's you know, time is going to tell
- 11:03Speaker 3: with you know what, what what it looks like in
- 11:06Speaker 3: his in his you know, free agency campaign, there's gonna
- 11:09Speaker 3: be a lot of teams they're gonna be buying for
- 11:10Speaker 3: his services because as clutch as he maybe hadn't been
- 11:14Speaker 3: all season, you know, I think he's had a share
- 11:16Speaker 3: of struggles at the plate this year, you know, especially
- 11:19Speaker 3: with some of the off speed stuff. You know, Pete's
- 11:24Speaker 3: shown up when it mattered, you know, the most important
- 11:27Speaker 3: at that were the Mets of the season. He delivers
- 11:30Speaker 3: a keynote three run home run opposite is the opposite
- 11:35Speaker 3: field of that, which is the biggest three home run
- 11:38Speaker 3: of his career and probably one of the biggest home
- 11:40Speaker 3: runs in the Mets postseason history. Yeah, I love that.
- 11:45Speaker 2: I'm done with the j mac customs. And Jay, I
- 11:48Speaker 2: got to say, you mentioned Steve Cohen, and you and
- 11:50Speaker 2: I are We've seen a lot of mens years for years,
- 11:55Speaker 2: and look, I was friends with the will Ponds and
- 11:57Speaker 2: I'm not going to bash him here, but I will
- 11:59Speaker 2: say Collins brought a new spirit to allow things like
- 12:02Speaker 2: what you're doing and what the song is done, which
- 12:05Speaker 2: we might have seen in the prior regime, if you will.
- 12:08Speaker 3: Yeah, and that's and that's I think I think it's
- 12:11Speaker 3: a fair and acumate accurate statement.
- 12:14Speaker 4: You know.
- 12:14Speaker 3: I every time that you know, I've run across both
- 12:20Speaker 3: Steve and Alex, they've always been super accommodated with fans.
- 12:24Speaker 4: And you know, I felt like a lot of ways.
- 12:26Speaker 3: That that you know, Jeff Bread he kind of like
- 12:30Speaker 3: in their ivory tower and to keep themselves isolated from
- 12:33Speaker 3: interacting with fans. And you know, I think that Stephen
- 12:36Speaker 3: Alex have used the voice of the fans to to
- 12:41Speaker 3: kind of figure out like what is the pulse of
- 12:43Speaker 3: the team. And not that you're always going to react
- 12:45Speaker 3: to what fans say, but you know, when you're when
- 12:47Speaker 3: you're holding roundtable discussions to talk about the future of
- 12:50Speaker 3: what what's happening around the ball play, when you're looking at,
- 12:54Speaker 3: you know, taking feedback from from season ticke beholders about
- 13:00Speaker 3: you know, what their amenities alike, what is the regular
- 13:02Speaker 3: film he can't afford streetent sickets look like, so like
- 13:05Speaker 3: things like the Mets connected, all of that are born
- 13:08Speaker 3: out of feedback that they're getting from people. But you
- 13:11Speaker 3: don't get feedback if you're not asking for it. And
- 13:14Speaker 3: if you're not.
- 13:16Speaker 2: The lot program. You're right, that's new. And I got
- 13:19Speaker 2: to say, Steve Cohen, you wouldn't see the will pounds
- 13:22Speaker 2: out in the middle of the plaza like that before
- 13:25Speaker 2: a postseason game. Okay, it just it just wouldn't happen.
- 13:28Speaker 2: So I see what you're saying. And by the way,
- 13:31Speaker 2: I mean being knowing mister Steinberner for about ten years
- 13:35Speaker 2: of his life the last eighties was life and knowing
- 13:37Speaker 2: the breast seat. I feel like Cohen's brought that energy
- 13:39Speaker 2: up hands on ownership and the Mets needed that badly,
- 13:43Speaker 2: didn't they.
- 13:44Speaker 3: Yeah, listen, you know when you when you think about
- 13:47Speaker 3: too like he recently has committed himself.
- 13:53Speaker 4: Supporting the operations of.
- 13:56Speaker 3: The team and that he's not going to be trading
- 14:00Speaker 3: and he's going to be focusing his efforts on what's
- 14:03Speaker 3: happening with the best because not that he's the general manager,
- 14:07Speaker 3: but sometimes you need to be available and accessible for
- 14:11Speaker 3: when there's a late night decision that has to be made,
- 14:14Speaker 3: and you got to remove some of some of the
- 14:17Speaker 3: interference and he's you know, just even like this last
- 14:21Speaker 3: like say thirty almost like thirty days that I've been
- 14:26Speaker 3: watching the games on the road, being he's at the
- 14:30Speaker 3: ballpark early, he's watching badly practice. When he gets off,
- 14:33Speaker 3: he's heading off the field, he's taking time to take
- 14:36Speaker 3: pictures of fans, signing autographs for fans, doing things with
- 14:41Speaker 3: the fans that.
- 14:43Speaker 4: You've just never seen. I mean, you know, he brings
- 14:47Speaker 4: him and Alex.
- 14:47Speaker 3: Both enjoy to so many people because people are happy
- 14:51Speaker 3: to thank them for what we're getting. Like there was
- 14:54Speaker 3: a five year plan, and the five year plan is
- 14:58Speaker 3: really showing up, and they.
- 15:02Speaker 2: Made the playoffs, and they made the postseason at one
- 15:04Speaker 2: hundred and one wins, and I thought, man, this Colin
- 15:06Speaker 2: aar is starting off really well. Remember we all remember that.
- 15:09Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, But.
- 15:11Speaker 2: I gotta ask you, Jay, you know you talk about
- 15:14Speaker 2: your accessibility. I find that throughout the game you're just
- 15:17Speaker 2: seen on TV the big boards, but you're out there
- 15:20Speaker 2: with the fans. You're not in that ivory tower. So
- 15:23Speaker 2: what's it mean to you to be sort of less
- 15:24Speaker 2: influencer but also accessible to the fan base to be around.
- 15:28Speaker 4: Yeah and listen, I've.
- 15:31Speaker 3: I find it really important to to not separate myself
- 15:35Speaker 3: from everyone else because I am a fan like everyone else.
- 15:40Speaker 3: I don't want to be isolated.
- 15:43Speaker 4: You know.
- 15:43Speaker 3: Is it nice to be be uh invited to hang
- 15:47Speaker 3: out in the suite? Absolutely? But you know what I
- 15:50Speaker 3: also realized too that it's also important to you know,
- 15:55Speaker 3: high five and and harry a sign around and and
- 15:59Speaker 3: pump people up and you know, shake hands and you know,
- 16:02Speaker 3: kiss babies, fist bumps all that stuff. Like it's I
- 16:04Speaker 3: love it because it's not just you know, it's not
- 16:08Speaker 3: just for the players.
- 16:09Speaker 4: It's for the fans like there are they're a fans
- 16:12Speaker 4: who are young. They're a fans who are you.
- 16:15Speaker 3: Know, kids love it right, you know, people our age
- 16:19Speaker 3: are are you know, are into it. But what I
- 16:23Speaker 3: get a real kick out on is like when some
- 16:26Speaker 3: of our old timers, like the real OG fans and
- 16:29Speaker 3: people who've been that it's like the sixties and the
- 16:32Speaker 3: seventies and and they're bought in, like Pinman and kalbel Man,
- 16:36Speaker 3: like I see them both like reaching out, like Pinman
- 16:40Speaker 3: reached out and said, hey, I want to sign for
- 16:42Speaker 3: one of my buddies. I want to sign for myself,
- 16:44Speaker 3: And kalabell Man like he's like, I want to get
- 16:47Speaker 3: some of your pins, and you know, they're just it's
- 16:50Speaker 3: so cool to me because like I've watched these guys
- 16:53Speaker 3: growing up, and I've seen them when they were, you know,
- 16:56Speaker 3: maybe my age, and for them to be, you know,
- 17:01Speaker 3: at their stage in life and still have the passion
- 17:04Speaker 3: and the zeal that that that I have now is
- 17:08Speaker 3: pretty special.
- 17:09Speaker 2: All right, Well, let me tell you this. You are
- 17:10Speaker 2: the new iteration of the sign Man because your remember,
- 17:12Speaker 2: I feel line there was the guy holding the sign
- 17:15Speaker 2: almost ever game different monikers. You're this generation sign Man.
- 17:20Speaker 2: I don't even know that or that, but I just
- 17:21Speaker 2: feel that way.
- 17:23Speaker 3: Oh listen, man, it's it's it's it's kind of cool
- 17:26Speaker 3: to be mentioned in the same brother as him.
- 17:27Speaker 4: But our sign Man is still here.
- 17:30Speaker 3: I think he's in section three thirty seven and he's
- 17:32Speaker 3: still doing his thing, and he's got over twenty thirty signs.
- 17:35Speaker 3: You might have been featured recently and like am New
- 17:38Speaker 3: York Sports. He and I have talked on Twitter and
- 17:42Speaker 3: you know, he was congratulating me for that. But you know,
- 17:46Speaker 3: I have a lot of respect for anybody who's doing
- 17:50Speaker 3: something creative to highlight what's happening with our team. There's
- 17:54Speaker 3: so many different people in the arena. You know, when
- 17:57Speaker 3: you think about you know a fan who really struck
- 18:00Speaker 3: it big, right, I think about the seven Line and
- 18:02Speaker 3: what they've done to you know, take a talent with
- 18:07Speaker 3: with creating T shirts and quirky T shirts and turned
- 18:10Speaker 3: it into a an amazing marketing kind of tool for
- 18:14Speaker 3: for his own business. And it also rallies people up,
- 18:17Speaker 3: like you know between tailgates and you know seeing However,
- 18:21Speaker 3: in these stadiums that they've seen so.
- 18:22Speaker 2: Much, they do five ks too. They're very dynamic group.
- 18:26Speaker 3: Yeah, no, there there there's awesome, but there's there's a
- 18:28Speaker 3: lot of other fans in the community that are doing
- 18:32Speaker 3: similar stuff. There's there's this this group of hat makers
- 18:35Speaker 3: called the City Boys. I'm actually wearing one of their hats. Now.
- 18:38Speaker 3: This is a this hat here is designed after the
- 18:42Speaker 3: Johann Santana No hitter by a guy named Brooklyn Bodies.
- 18:47Speaker 3: So this is like the black jersey with the piping
- 18:49Speaker 3: on it. And this is this kind of stuff you
- 18:51Speaker 3: don't see all the time. So they're inspired by you know,
- 18:55Speaker 3: what they see and you know what they can feel
- 18:57Speaker 3: in touch.
- 18:57Speaker 4: And there's a lot.
- 19:00Speaker 3: There's a lot more content creators and and you know,
- 19:03Speaker 3: creative folks in the community doing some really cool things too.
- 19:07Speaker 2: Oh, one hundred percent. All right, I want to ask
- 19:08Speaker 2: you about a couple of things at twenty two and
- 19:12Speaker 2: thirty three. We all know what happened the closer meeting.
- 19:15Speaker 2: Why getting enough coverage? I feel like the sign and
- 19:18Speaker 2: actually the twenty two and thirty three are for some
- 19:24Speaker 2: reason not as popular. The sign's popular. But why did
- 19:27Speaker 2: the haktua and and Grimm's take off? Why didn't the
- 19:31Speaker 2: sign and and and the twenty two and thirty three?
- 19:33Speaker 2: Why aren't those the talking points? Those should be the
- 19:35Speaker 2: talking points, because that's the good.
- 19:36Speaker 3: Luck, right, you know the twenty two and thirty three
- 19:40Speaker 3: that that happened, you know, on on what May twenty eighth.
- 19:43Speaker 3: It was a Wednesday. We had just gotten swept by
- 19:47Speaker 3: the Dodgers. We lost the game three to one. Again
- 19:49Speaker 3: that we might have been able to win, but we didn't.
- 19:53Speaker 3: You know, we all know the story of jor Hitop
- 19:56Speaker 3: that's throwing his glove into the air and just kind
- 19:58Speaker 3: of like having a meltdown, and uh, you know the
- 20:01Speaker 3: ensuing you know, words of talking about this being the
- 20:04Speaker 3: worst team that he's ever played on, and all that stuff, like.
- 20:09Speaker 4: The story of of.
- 20:11Speaker 3: The of of of a team meeting, Like team meeting
- 20:14Speaker 3: should happen.
- 20:14Speaker 4: When you're at that point and you should be a better,
- 20:17Speaker 4: better team.
- 20:18Speaker 3: But it's New York. You know, they they they go
- 20:22Speaker 3: for headlines, they go for for sexy things, and you
- 20:25Speaker 3: know they're there.
- 20:25Speaker 4: We had a couple.
- 20:28Speaker 3: Of other you know, cool characters throughout the course of
- 20:31Speaker 3: the season. You know, we had Seymour Wiener to start
- 20:35Speaker 3: and it became like a dollar hot all game that
- 20:38Speaker 3: kind of was like almost indirectly sponsored by by him.
- 20:42Speaker 3: You know, Max Wiener, the rally pamp, who was you know,
- 20:46Speaker 3: still at a ton of games. But then you know
- 20:49Speaker 3: after that, that whole the whole team meeting, like something
- 20:54Speaker 3: didn't something clicked. Before Grimace even came on to the season,
- 20:58Speaker 3: they went to London to get other They brought their
- 21:01Speaker 3: entire family unit to tour to London, and it wasn't
- 21:05Speaker 3: just the players, it was their wives, it was their
- 21:07Speaker 3: families and they were all breaking bread together.
- 21:10Speaker 4: So like that trip, like being.
- 21:12Speaker 3: In London, you know, they were there for almost a
- 21:15Speaker 3: good week just going around the city doing events together,
- 21:20Speaker 3: having you know team uh team Dinners, like not just
- 21:24Speaker 3: the players, but the players wives and their kids and like,
- 21:26Speaker 3: you know, you don't always get to have that even
- 21:29Speaker 3: during bring training because people are so busy, you know,
- 21:32Speaker 3: maintaining their home, the kids are still in school, all
- 21:34Speaker 3: of that stuff. But I have a trip in the
- 21:36Speaker 3: summer that went there that was a huge point of
- 21:40Speaker 3: gallv Nation, even before grimmis.
- 21:42Speaker 4: But Grimace is on sexy.
- 21:45Speaker 3: You know, he's this big like you know McDonald's fun
- 21:47Speaker 3: character and like that that became a thing because we
- 21:52Speaker 3: had a we had a winning streak.
- 21:54Speaker 2: Have you got him or hawk to a girl to
- 21:55Speaker 2: hold the OMG sign yet or is that in the works.
- 21:58Speaker 3: No, listen, I don't don't know the story with talk
- 22:02Speaker 3: to her, but you know, from from you know, I
- 22:05Speaker 3: think if she was meant to come back, she would
- 22:07Speaker 3: have been back from that situation. I think that it
- 22:11Speaker 3: probably was some some difficult pr that the Mets had
- 22:15Speaker 3: to answer to, especially when some of our radio hosts
- 22:18Speaker 3: were so vocal about you know, it being camp they
- 22:21Speaker 3: and we have talk to a girl and you know, listen,
- 22:25Speaker 3: Ellie Welch does a lot.
- 22:26Speaker 4: Of an amazing things in the community.
- 22:29Speaker 3: That's fun of him, like she's used her platform which
- 22:31Speaker 3: kind of started off as like a tongue and she
- 22:33Speaker 3: kind of thing that was really meant for TikTok, but
- 22:36Speaker 3: it's not really meant for public consumption. I don't think
- 22:39Speaker 3: parents should have to explain what it all means and
- 22:42Speaker 3: all that. But that's you know, that's that's my own
- 22:45Speaker 3: personal opinion. So I think that was a lot of
- 22:48Speaker 3: the backlash that the organization probably faced publicly. Otherwise I
- 22:51Speaker 3: should be here, I could be throwing out a first
- 22:53Speaker 3: pitch already in the NLDS. But I love that she's
- 22:57Speaker 3: still supporting the team from Afar and over.
- 23:02Speaker 2: We'll have to see how that goes. October, I got
- 23:06Speaker 2: to ask you about brandon Nimo because this guy, you know,
- 23:10Speaker 2: I was on the field with him when he was
- 23:11Speaker 2: coming up in twenty seventeen, and now he's going to
- 23:14Speaker 2: announced he's the veteran of the station and backing on
- 23:19Speaker 2: him for crime, and.
- 23:21Speaker 4: How good do you I'm sorry you're breaking up.
- 23:26Speaker 2: How good do you feel for brandon Neimo right now?
- 23:28Speaker 2: Because he's the guy that really worked his ass off
- 23:31Speaker 2: to get here.
- 23:32Speaker 3: I would say, yeah, yeah, Look, when he was drafted
- 23:35Speaker 3: as a as a high school player who played American
- 23:38Speaker 3: Legion ball in Wyoming. I don't think anybody could have
- 23:43Speaker 3: expected him to be this kind of good the way
- 23:46Speaker 3: that he is right now. I mean, he's a he's
- 23:49Speaker 3: an All Star caliber player, and he's probably.
- 23:51Speaker 4: Should have gone also at least two times over at
- 23:53Speaker 4: this point.
- 23:54Speaker 3: But you're talking about a guy who consistently, year over
- 23:57Speaker 3: year does something to improve his skill set. And you know,
- 24:03Speaker 3: he didn't start off as this kind of vocal leader
- 24:06Speaker 3: that he is right now. He's become that person who
- 24:09Speaker 3: will take the heat in the locker room, will answer
- 24:12Speaker 3: the tough questions, who will always put his team before
- 24:16Speaker 3: his own individual accolades, and he does that consistently. I
- 24:20Speaker 3: think him and the Door have that kind of very
- 24:22Speaker 3: similar mindset. He've been so good for each other as
- 24:25Speaker 3: almost like a Batman and Robin in terms of how
- 24:27Speaker 3: they leave the clubhouse right. And you know, seeing him
- 24:32Speaker 3: just you know, having a moment with you know, with
- 24:38Speaker 3: his wife Chelsea on the field when when the NLCS
- 24:42Speaker 3: ended was was really cool because I've seen him, I've
- 24:46Speaker 3: seen him grow up. I've seen him grow up in
- 24:48Speaker 3: that's uniform, and you know, from all looks at it
- 24:51Speaker 3: he's going to retire here because he's not for at.
- 24:54Speaker 4: Least another four years, three four years at least that uh,
- 24:57Speaker 4: you know, at least. But he's a great ambassador for for.
- 25:05Speaker 3: For for the team, but also to it just shows
- 25:08Speaker 3: like you know what good scouting is, Like somebody saw
- 25:10Speaker 3: something on him and he's worked his tail off to
- 25:14Speaker 3: to get better and I love it, all right, No
- 25:17Speaker 3: one deserves it more.
- 25:20Speaker 2: I'm talking about Lindor. But before we get to him,
- 25:23Speaker 2: any plans for you with this LCS coming up? Are
- 25:26Speaker 2: you going to be there both games? Obviously you are,
- 25:28Speaker 2: but are you gonna how you add to the excitement
- 25:31Speaker 2: of the home home coming back to the for the
- 25:33Speaker 2: l CS, Like, what's what's your all going to be?
- 25:35Speaker 2: Do you think to bring?
- 25:37Speaker 1: I have?
- 25:38Speaker 3: I have tickets for all three games, so I'll be
- 25:43Speaker 3: there Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. And you know, there's there's
- 25:48Speaker 3: already signs that that the same signs that that we're
- 25:51Speaker 3: rolling with at the signs that we're going to stick with.
- 25:52Speaker 3: I have that playoff version of OMG which has the
- 25:55Speaker 3: subway map on it, which is a out the Queens
- 25:57Speaker 3: And then is that really massive OMG, sign that I
- 26:02Speaker 3: don't know that with the crowds that we have that
- 26:04Speaker 3: it's the most ideal, because the last thing I want
- 26:08Speaker 3: to do is is it becomes a situation where people
- 26:12Speaker 3: can't navigate freely throughout the concourses. Okay, but it'll be,
- 26:18Speaker 3: it'll be its presence will be felt maybe pre game.
- 26:24Speaker 3: You know, it will be out on the Shape bridge
- 26:26Speaker 3: for people to take photos with. You know, these are
- 26:30Speaker 3: nationally televised broadcasts, so I purposely have standing room seats
- 26:36Speaker 3: because I want to be able to move around. So
- 26:38Speaker 3: maybe I'll protect it in in a way where you know,
- 26:40Speaker 3: it could be seen even more so we could just
- 26:42Speaker 3: continue to tell the story of you know, what it
- 26:45Speaker 3: means to our team and what it means to our
- 26:46Speaker 3: fan base.
- 26:48Speaker 4: And I'll probably have to have somebody with me to
- 26:50Speaker 4: kind of be my security.
- 26:52Speaker 2: Are you season ticket holder and not really right? You
- 26:54Speaker 2: kind of go by the game.
- 26:56Speaker 3: I I have gotten a lot of tickets extended to
- 27:01Speaker 3: me from from from different places, and I've always been, uh,
- 27:06Speaker 3: you know, I got to see what my work schedule
- 27:07Speaker 3: looks like kind of guy, and you know, if I
- 27:10Speaker 3: have a free evening, I'm gonna go to the ballpark,
- 27:13Speaker 3: you know, with either myself.
- 27:15Speaker 4: Or someone in my family will go to the game
- 27:17Speaker 4: and we'll catch a game.
- 27:19Speaker 3: These ticket holders, if you're very you're very stuck to
- 27:23Speaker 3: to those and you know sometimes you're you're you're you're
- 27:26Speaker 3: throwing away money because you can't put the ticket or
- 27:29Speaker 3: you want to give somebody a ticket, and as the
- 27:31Speaker 3: team is struggling, you can't give tickets away fast enough, right.
- 27:36Speaker 2: You know, I gotta say this, I just know, but
- 27:39Speaker 2: I'm glad that you're going to be there all three games.
- 27:42Speaker 2: Who who raised you to be an FM?
- 27:44Speaker 3: Mom?
- 27:45Speaker 2: Dad? Both sides like what what? What's the lineage of
- 27:48Speaker 2: j Max?
- 27:49Speaker 3: My dad was a was a Brooklyn Dodgers fan growing up,
- 27:53Speaker 3: and it broke his heart that's won that the Dodgers left,
- 27:56Speaker 3: so he became a national fans. But it was also
- 28:00Speaker 3: are the kind of guy that also never minded moving
- 28:03Speaker 3: for the Yankees. I think that early on growing up,
- 28:09Speaker 3: I have a lot of pride in coming from Cludens
- 28:11Speaker 3: and I've got a I've got a tattoo in my
- 28:15Speaker 3: arm of the Unisphere and i have a I have
- 28:18Speaker 3: a I have a Mets tattoo that for my son's
- 28:21Speaker 3: initials growing up like if I could have lived my
- 28:24Speaker 3: whole life, I would have just because I feel like
- 28:27Speaker 3: there's so much authenticity and there there's such a big
- 28:30Speaker 3: melting pot, like everything that I feel like I've learned
- 28:33Speaker 3: about life has come fun living.
- 28:36Speaker 4: In and you know, in the environment of.
- 28:40Speaker 2: I love, I love queens, I love growing up there
- 28:43Speaker 2: from the age of ten onwards. So I just I
- 28:44Speaker 2: feel you on that one. Let's get back to baseball
- 28:49Speaker 2: for a second. Lindor lead off. By the way, Mendoz
- 28:51Speaker 2: hasn't done an incredible job his first year, but Lindor
- 28:55Speaker 2: at the top spot. Did you think that he was
- 28:58Speaker 2: going to get there and then throw in that spot?
- 29:00Speaker 2: I felt like they were juggling up there for a
- 29:02Speaker 2: little while until they decided on online door.
- 29:06Speaker 3: I think that there's a there's a there's like this
- 29:10Speaker 3: new blueprint of success with having guys who are you know,
- 29:15Speaker 3: I high ops, high risk reward kind of guys being
- 29:19Speaker 3: in your leadoff spot. And you look at a guy
- 29:23Speaker 3: like Kyle Schwarber, you look at the time that I
- 29:26Speaker 3: and Judges spent in the beat off spot, and obviously
- 29:28Speaker 3: now you look at you know, Francisco Indor and what
- 29:31Speaker 3: it's meant for the Mets, like him being in the
- 29:33Speaker 3: leadoff spot obviously has has has coincided with the resurgers
- 29:39Speaker 3: of this team, and you know, having the best Briancond
- 29:41Speaker 3: in baseballs in the street first, you know, very not.
- 29:46Speaker 3: He doesn't have the same kind of power as Kyle Swarber,
- 29:48Speaker 3: but look look at Coylee Schwarber in aladof spot what
- 29:50Speaker 3: it's done, like you know, led the league and leadoff
- 29:53Speaker 3: home runs and you know, still produced at a high clip,
- 29:57Speaker 3: Like you could still be a high RBI guy in
- 29:58Speaker 3: the first spot because you're only batting with nobody on
- 30:02Speaker 3: the first battle of the game.
- 30:03Speaker 4: Every other adapt that you have.
- 30:05Speaker 3: You're going to probably have guys in front of you,
- 30:08Speaker 3: whether it's you know, you know seven eight nine, or
- 30:12Speaker 3: it could you know, it could be a combination of them,
- 30:15Speaker 3: depending well.
- 30:16Speaker 2: He went MVP. I know it's an Outlanta's question because
- 30:18Speaker 2: about Tani, but I just think that this guy plays
- 30:22Speaker 2: the field and does so much. Do you wish the
- 30:26Speaker 2: MVP racer is a low affair in some of in.
- 30:28Speaker 3: Some respects or what I think they have to have
- 30:30Speaker 3: guardrails and parameters on what an MVP season should be
- 30:34Speaker 3: like and it. David Ortiz, as a perfect example, had
- 30:41Speaker 3: several monster seasons as a DH that offensively. Wuld argue
- 30:48Speaker 3: that he's had better offensive years than the people who
- 30:50Speaker 3: he was up against, But there was always the award
- 30:52Speaker 3: for a guy who was a player. You know, you
- 30:56Speaker 3: take Windor off this team, what is this tutor? You
- 30:59Speaker 3: take off the Dodgers on the Dodgers, the Dodgers, and
- 31:02Speaker 3: there were already two other VP's on the team, right,
- 31:06Speaker 3: you know, so it's a really tough ugn't it. You know,
- 31:08Speaker 3: if you're really looking at just you know, offensive numbers,
- 31:11Speaker 3: like oh, Tommy puts on video game numbers, he's he
- 31:15Speaker 3: is a unicorn, but he didn't play the field. So
- 31:20Speaker 3: you know, co m VP maybe, you know, do you
- 31:23Speaker 3: you look at maybe you know, the most outstanding offensive
- 31:26Speaker 3: player and creating an award just for that. You know,
- 31:29Speaker 3: it's something that I think the league should really start
- 31:32Speaker 3: to look at, because otherwise you can give the award
- 31:34Speaker 3: every year to old Tommy or you know, back in
- 31:37Speaker 3: the days, right, you can give the award every year
- 31:39Speaker 3: to my Trout. You know how many years that was
- 31:41Speaker 3: Mike Trout not the the MVP when he could have
- 31:44Speaker 3: been right, it's it's it's really it's super subjective.
- 31:49Speaker 4: And uh, you know, look, I think the award is
- 31:51Speaker 4: going to go to Tommy.
- 31:52Speaker 3: I mean, it'd be hard to not do it.
- 31:56Speaker 4: It should go to Lenore.
- 31:57Speaker 3: But I just feel like the way that Major League
- 32:00Speaker 3: Baseball is especially around growing it city international market, you know,
- 32:05Speaker 3: one of its biggest stars being in the MVP.
- 32:08Speaker 4: Only kind of heard is that.
- 32:09Speaker 3: Case of pursuing baseball and international markets.
- 32:16Speaker 2: You know, Jay, you talk about this game as if
- 32:18Speaker 2: you played it before. Did you ever play?
- 32:20Speaker 4: I played a little bit. I mean I I I played.
- 32:24Speaker 3: I played competitive basketball growing up, like from you know,
- 32:28Speaker 3: seventh grade through most of high school, and my parents
- 32:33Speaker 3: can afford to play those. And I got my first
- 32:37Speaker 3: glove when I was like eleven years old. My dad
- 32:40Speaker 3: brought up somebody who was walking up and down Putmand
- 32:44Speaker 3: Avenue selling drugs, so it probably came off the back
- 32:48Speaker 3: of a truck. And my first love was a black
- 32:52Speaker 3: glove that with a combination of a uh, leather and
- 32:59Speaker 3: nile on. I think the brand was called Region, So
- 33:02Speaker 3: it really wasn't even a great model glove, but I
- 33:05Speaker 3: remember it because it was my first glove, and you know,
- 33:08Speaker 3: I played with it as much as I could. I mean,
- 33:10Speaker 3: I played some softball in the park around my way,
- 33:13Speaker 3: but I wish I had started soon.
- 33:15Speaker 4: I mean I could, I could catch the ball, I
- 33:17Speaker 4: could run really well. I understood situational hitting, but I I.
- 33:23Speaker 3: Could not throw to save my life. I mean I
- 33:26Speaker 3: could throw them out, but you know, back then, I
- 33:28Speaker 3: just throw the ball thinking I'm aiming right and it's
- 33:31Speaker 3: going left. And you know, like most people, you know,
- 33:34Speaker 3: your body hasn't developed yet. But uh, but you know,
- 33:38Speaker 3: I spent I spent a lot of time watching baseball,
- 33:40Speaker 3: so like, you know, you listen to enough enough broadcasts
- 33:43Speaker 3: you you uh, you learn more about the game, Like
- 33:46Speaker 3: we're so blessed with Gary Keith at Raw that you
- 33:49Speaker 3: know their knowledge of the game and how they imparty
- 33:51Speaker 3: on the fans like really kind of helps you understand
- 33:55Speaker 3: what's happening a lot better.
- 33:57Speaker 2: And then Howie on radio, you nothing like it, man,
- 33:59Speaker 2: it's just the best, the best, and and personally for you,
- 34:04Speaker 2: what year does this remind you of? And what year?
- 34:07Speaker 2: I feel like everybody's excited, So I got to say,
- 34:09Speaker 2: what was the last time you felt this excited?
- 34:12Speaker 3: You know?
- 34:12Speaker 2: Fifteen was a run but that was consessus. This feels
- 34:15Speaker 2: like a real team jelling here. I could be wrong
- 34:18Speaker 2: on that, but.
- 34:20Speaker 3: You know, I don't really know that this team compares
- 34:25Speaker 3: to many other teams that we've had. And if you
- 34:29Speaker 3: were to take this team and the way that they
- 34:31Speaker 3: were playing, if they had done this end to end
- 34:33Speaker 3: from from from April, it would be a team that
- 34:36Speaker 3: I would compare to the eighty sixteen minus some of
- 34:39Speaker 3: the Shenanigans, because this team has that, you know, like
- 34:43Speaker 3: this this kind of like, you know, never give up,
- 34:46Speaker 3: never quit, do or die kind of attitude. You know,
- 34:51Speaker 3: we didn't necessarily have the whole you gotta believe story
- 34:55Speaker 3: of the seventy three Mets. But you know, those teams,
- 34:57Speaker 3: I'm not.
- 34:58Speaker 4: I don't.
- 34:58Speaker 3: I don't have the same affinity because I wasn't around
- 35:00Speaker 3: them when they were you know, when they were playing.
- 35:03Speaker 3: But the two thousand Mets, they were a flaw team.
- 35:08Speaker 3: I don't like, we made it to World Series, but
- 35:11Speaker 3: they were a flaw team and it was going to
- 35:13Speaker 3: always be tough to be that Yankee team.
- 35:15Speaker 2: That Yankee team was a powerhouse yea, and they had
- 35:19Speaker 2: won a couple of prior it was it was a
- 35:22Speaker 2: it was a lot. And I mean I was their
- 35:23Speaker 2: opening night, the first game, and I remember beneath you know,
- 35:27Speaker 2: Benitez always gave met fans a scare. I'll never remember
- 35:29Speaker 2: forget those times. But you know, now they have a clothes,
- 35:32Speaker 2: they have a lot of pieces in place that maybe
- 35:35Speaker 2: they didn't have before. You just mentioned the you gotta
- 35:39Speaker 2: believe and now it's o MG. I mean, it's just
- 35:42Speaker 2: the generational type of thing, you know, all right when
- 35:44Speaker 2: they hold the sign, JA, when they hold the sign,
- 35:47Speaker 2: doesn't that feel more personal? Like, Okay, they're holding it
- 35:49Speaker 2: because they know I made a type of thing now
- 35:51Speaker 2: or what does that feel like?
- 35:54Speaker 4: You know, when when when we clinched the other day.
- 36:02Speaker 3: Last week, it feels like the other day, but it
- 36:05Speaker 3: was it was last what Thursday, right Thursday night game
- 36:10Speaker 3: And with all the commotion of celebrating and getting the
- 36:18Speaker 3: large sign from center field and looking to get up
- 36:24Speaker 3: through to my car, I talked to somebody and I
- 36:28Speaker 3: was like, I really loved it to be down there, Like,
- 36:31Speaker 3: let's take you down there. I went down there and
- 36:33Speaker 3: I got on the field and I had about like
- 36:37Speaker 3: ten different conversations with players, players wise players families, and
- 36:42Speaker 3: they were all just so happy to take a picture
- 36:45Speaker 3: with the large side, but they also wanted me in
- 36:47Speaker 3: the picture. So you know, I had a lot of
- 36:52Speaker 3: gratitude come my way, a lot of thank yous, like
- 36:55Speaker 3: bugs gapping people up. It's just I had at this
- 36:59Speaker 3: really amazing comversation with Brandon Nemo because that night about it,
- 37:04Speaker 3: Like two weeks earlier, when they were on Sunday Night Baseball,
- 37:06Speaker 3: they were talking about my sign, they were featuring it,
- 37:09Speaker 3: and in the midst of them talking about what happened
- 37:14Speaker 3: with it, how the first sign broke and the O
- 37:17Speaker 3: popped off. As the story is being told, Brandon Nemo
- 37:21Speaker 3: hits a two hits that home run, whether two run
- 37:24Speaker 3: home run or but the home run that they hit
- 37:29Speaker 3: in the bottom of the sixth inning off Zach Wheeler.
- 37:33Speaker 4: I gave us the lead and I told him like, hey, man, like.
- 37:40Speaker 3: You ever believe this, But they were talking about my
- 37:43Speaker 3: sign on ESPN, and as they were talking about the
- 37:46Speaker 3: first sign and how the OH popped off, you hit
- 37:48Speaker 3: a home run and there went my interview, and like
- 37:52Speaker 3: the two of us were like chuckling and laughing about it,
- 37:55Speaker 3: and it was just such a wholesome moment to kind
- 37:57Speaker 3: of share that with him, because like, this isn't about notoriety,
- 38:03Speaker 3: This isn't about thing, this isn't about any of that.
- 38:05Speaker 3: Like I'm just having fun, and uh, if I could
- 38:09Speaker 3: give it to a player who you know, it's something
- 38:12Speaker 3: to kind of take away from that, I'm going to
- 38:14Speaker 3: do it and do it in a way where it's
- 38:15Speaker 3: you know, it's it's positive and and what have you
- 38:18Speaker 3: put him and him and Drew Smith took a picture
- 38:22Speaker 3: with me and like I had the biggest smile on
- 38:25Speaker 3: my face because like they know who I am and
- 38:28Speaker 3: it's just.
- 38:30Speaker 4: I don't that's that probably would have never have happened, yeah,
- 38:37Speaker 4: previous years or what have you.
- 38:39Speaker 3: And you know, they know what I do, they know
- 38:41Speaker 3: what I make, and they also know the energy and
- 38:43Speaker 3: the excitement that I have. And that's why I'm on
- 38:46Speaker 3: the road too, because like you know, I've been fortunate,
- 38:49Speaker 3: you know, with with with this this run of success
- 38:53Speaker 3: that the team has had that you know, my business
- 38:55Speaker 3: has been has been has been good, and I've been
- 38:58Speaker 3: able to make a few more bucks. You know, I
- 39:00Speaker 3: want to I want to invest it in the experience
- 39:03Speaker 3: of being around the team because you know, again, when
- 39:06Speaker 3: you don't get to go to the playoffs very often,
- 39:09Speaker 3: and you feel like in some way you're now part
- 39:12Speaker 3: of it.
- 39:12Speaker 4: I feel like I I've you.
- 39:16Speaker 3: Know, part of me really wants to just be there
- 39:18Speaker 3: and see it with my own eyes and not see
- 39:20Speaker 3: it through a television lens or you're a you're an announcer.
- 39:24Speaker 3: I just want to be at the ballpark and experience
- 39:27Speaker 3: the energy and excitement and the towels that are waiting
- 39:31Speaker 3: from an opposing fan base. And sure, you feel like the.
- 39:37Speaker 2: Eyes and ears a little bit of of the fan
- 39:39Speaker 2: base right now, you're out there on behalf of the fan.
- 39:41Speaker 3: It sounds like there's a lot of fans that are traveling.
- 39:44Speaker 3: But you know, I just I feel like in some ways,
- 39:47Speaker 3: like you know, I'm watching for the sign to go up,
- 39:51Speaker 3: like I'm waiting for it. It's just like it's a
- 39:53Speaker 3: it's like a jack in the box, right, you never
- 39:55Speaker 3: know where we're going to go yard.
- 39:57Speaker 2: Well, you know what maybe people don't realize is after
- 39:59Speaker 2: that and DS clincher, I believe Jose Glaciers took the
- 40:03Speaker 2: sign and went on the mound, showing it to the
- 40:06Speaker 2: whole three sixty of the stadium. I mean that moment
- 40:09Speaker 2: had to be special too. After they clinch, that sign
- 40:12Speaker 2: is now center stage and bruce Beck is on the
- 40:15Speaker 2: on Instagram with the sign and that I mean and
- 40:18Speaker 2: the work. It just feels like a small world when
- 40:21Speaker 2: those type of things happen. Because here I am on Instagram,
- 40:24Speaker 2: there's Bruce Beck with a sign I tag you.
- 40:25Speaker 4: It's like a small world.
- 40:27Speaker 2: It's a family really.
- 40:28Speaker 3: Yeah, And bruce Beck followed me after that. And I've
- 40:31Speaker 3: been a fan of bruce Beck's like since gosh, I
- 40:34Speaker 3: had to be like about ten or eleven years old,
- 40:36Speaker 3: watching the late broadcasts of the recaps of of of.
- 40:42Speaker 4: Sports on NBC, and yeah, it's super special, like.
- 40:47Speaker 2: You, I could just can believe. There he is, glaciers
- 40:50Speaker 2: on the mound, bruce Beck standing in with the microphone. OMG.
- 40:53Speaker 2: And I'm like, hey, people, let me tell you who's
- 40:56Speaker 2: made that sign, okay, because sometimes I feel like the
- 40:59Speaker 2: sign it's more not right. It's always I turned it
- 41:02Speaker 2: back to you because you're the guy behind it, you know.
- 41:05Speaker 3: Meanless the the the the shirt was was the shirt
- 41:10Speaker 3: and the song and the player and what was happening
- 41:12Speaker 3: with the team where we're all you know, part and
- 41:14Speaker 3: post parceled the you know, the driver behind it. Like
- 41:18Speaker 3: this year alone, I've I've made a I made a
- 41:22Speaker 3: tribute gift for Doc Good and I made a tribute
- 41:24Speaker 3: gift for Dallas Strawberry. And unless people have been following
- 41:27Speaker 3: my Instagram, you probably don't know that that's happened. But
- 41:31Speaker 3: I made them like personal baseball cards that you know
- 41:35Speaker 3: is a is a is an emblematic of something they've
- 41:38Speaker 3: done in their career, or just you know, an the
- 41:40Speaker 3: pose of like their eighty six card and the eighty
- 41:43Speaker 3: seven cards.
- 41:43Speaker 4: So I gave them both one of those.
- 41:46Speaker 3: I brought a four foot piece into opening day, a
- 41:50Speaker 3: blue and orange Big Mets piece that we brought on
- 41:53Speaker 3: the subway line, and we did a whole kind of
- 41:56Speaker 3: like you know, like walking art, and by bringing them
- 42:01Speaker 3: around the stadium and hyping people up what I'm doing,
- 42:05Speaker 3: I mean, it's not necessarily new. It just didn't cut
- 42:08Speaker 3: through the way that so it just became something for
- 42:13Speaker 3: not just one player, not to recognize one thing. It's
- 42:17Speaker 3: just more of like this kind of like movement, you know,
- 42:21Speaker 3: just thinking about the lyrics to the song and what
- 42:24Speaker 3: it means the Spanish translations English, It's just about you know,
- 42:28Speaker 3: removing you know, all of the negativity and all of
- 42:31Speaker 3: the doubt, the things that get in the way of
- 42:33Speaker 3: you being successful and prosperous in life.
- 42:36Speaker 2: By the way, before you know it, pitball beats holding
- 42:39Speaker 2: up your sign next. I can't wait for that to happen.
- 42:41Speaker 3: Well, yeah, when that happens, man, Like, I'm getting on
- 42:44Speaker 3: a plane in Miami and I'm gonna hang out and
- 42:46Speaker 3: go on to the store step with my hand out
- 42:48Speaker 3: and I'm kidding there.
- 42:51Speaker 2: This has been a lot of fun, Jay, and I'm
- 42:54Speaker 2: hoping to see you around. We gotta get a picture
- 42:55Speaker 2: at some point because it's just talking so much. And
- 42:59Speaker 2: I don't know I'll make it the season, but hopefully
- 43:01Speaker 2: because to be at the clincher would be special. We'll
- 43:03Speaker 2: see what happens.
- 43:05Speaker 3: But yeah, well we'll definitely, uh definitely stay stay tuned
- 43:09Speaker 3: into each other. And I appreciate, uh you using your
- 43:13Speaker 3: platform to share stories about you know, things and the
- 43:16Speaker 3: experiences that are happening throughout you know, our fan base
- 43:20Speaker 3: and obviously a lot of the.
- 43:21Speaker 4: Work that you do is you know, it's it's incredible.
- 43:24Speaker 3: We've gotten to know meet a lot of like really
- 43:27Speaker 3: cool people through through through the work that you do.
- 43:29Speaker 2: All I do is read the paper home, and here
- 43:31Speaker 2: you are in the paper, and I'm like, all right,
- 43:33Speaker 2: let me let me research, let me find out. I
- 43:35Speaker 2: text you. You're very You're very responsive for someone who's.
- 43:38Speaker 4: In the newspaper.
- 43:38Speaker 2: I'm like, Oh, this guy is you know, real on
- 43:41Speaker 2: the ground right.
- 43:42Speaker 3: Here, you know type of guy.
- 43:43Speaker 2: I like that. All right, Jay, thank you so much.
- 43:47Speaker 2: And one last thing I've got to ask you this,
- 43:50Speaker 2: how long have you been creative?
- 43:51Speaker 4: How long have you been creative?
- 43:54Speaker 1: All My earliest memories were or we're building directors when
- 44:00Speaker 1: I was like, you know, three four years old, and
- 44:02Speaker 1: you know, you let your imagination run wild, and you.
- 44:05Speaker 4: Know, the creative convatue.
- 44:07Speaker 3: When I was a kid, I used to draw comic
- 44:10Speaker 3: pictures of like, you know, Mickey Mouse and Wooden Woodpecker
- 44:14Speaker 3: and bugs Bunny and all that stuff. And I wanted
- 44:18Speaker 3: to go to school for it, and uh I wasn't
- 44:20Speaker 3: able to because I put my focus on on learning
- 44:23Speaker 3: how to how to run businesses. And I did that
- 44:26Speaker 3: for the better part of you know, twenty or so years.
- 44:28Speaker 3: When I got out of high school and through the college,
- 44:31Speaker 3: heres so.
- 44:33Speaker 2: Well, I'm so glad that you're in it and that
- 44:35Speaker 2: you did this, and we'll be in touch for sure
- 44:37Speaker 2: and hopefully well link up this this postseason.
- 44:42Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure, Thanks Alex having have a great night
- 44:45Speaker 3: and a safe flight home.
- 44:46Speaker 4: Appreciate it. Thanks care, take care of
