- 0:02Speaker 1: This is an Unspoiled network podcast. This is spoil Me,
- 0:09Speaker 1: covering one piece episodes six ninety one through six ninety three.
- 0:16Speaker 1: The second Samurai Evening Shower Conjuro appears a hard fought
- 0:22Speaker 1: battle against Pica Zoro's deadly attack and the Little People's
- 0:28Speaker 1: Princess captive Man Sherry. In these episodes, well Kinimon finally
- 0:38Speaker 1: finds his friend and this this dude has some wild
- 0:43Speaker 1: energy and some really weird powers. Also, there are weird
- 0:49Speaker 1: skull like tin soldiers. I don't know what this is.
- 0:54Speaker 1: They're much larger than the toys were. I don't know
- 0:58Speaker 1: what to think of these guys. Welcome to spoil Me.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Welcome to the show everyone. I am Natasha. Thank you
- 1:25Speaker 1: very much to Florian. I believe you know what. I
- 1:28Speaker 1: didn't even check because it's been Florian for such a
- 1:31Speaker 1: long stretch that i was like, just gonna give him
- 1:33Speaker 1: credit again, and now I'm like, should I let me
- 1:37Speaker 1: just trip check? Yes, it is it's Florian again. Thank
- 1:40Speaker 1: you Bud for commissioning this episode, and also thank you
- 1:46Speaker 1: to Seraphim for hanging out in the chat with me.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Saraphim is here. So these episodes are wild wild. My guys,
- 1:57Speaker 1: I just want to mention right off the top. I
- 2:00Speaker 1: know I said this last time, but you know, occasionally
- 2:03Speaker 1: it can take a little bit of thinking in before
- 2:06Speaker 1: you're really feeling something. And I said last time that
- 2:11Speaker 1: I liked the new theme song. I would like to
- 2:17Speaker 1: amend that and say I don't like it. I love it,
- 2:22Speaker 1: and I think it's like one of my favorites of
- 2:25Speaker 1: all time. I don't know what it is about the
- 2:29Speaker 1: vibe of this particular theme song, but there is something
- 2:34Speaker 1: like almost nostalgic sounding. If it's just such a sort
- 2:37Speaker 1: of generalized like a sound to it that feels real,
- 2:45Speaker 1: sort of early two thousands. That's making me kind of
- 2:48Speaker 1: go oh, because I just have an association. Maybe that's
- 2:51Speaker 1: all it is. But I definitely like hearing it the
- 2:55Speaker 1: second time. I almost always fast forward through the opening
- 3:01Speaker 1: song after I've heard it at least once, you know,
- 3:04Speaker 1: I'm just like, Okay, I've got the vibe of it
- 3:07Speaker 1: now and I don't have to And I it started
- 3:10Speaker 1: and I stopped and was like, no, let it cook,
- 3:13Speaker 1: let it go, let it play out. I was really
- 3:16Speaker 1: really liked that. So Seraphim says I had that most
- 3:23Speaker 1: times they they time the openings to changing between arcs,
- 3:28Speaker 1: but some of the longer arcs get two themes to them. Yeah,
- 3:31Speaker 1: because I felt like this had happened before that. There
- 3:33Speaker 1: was another time where I was sort of like, that's weird,
- 3:36Speaker 1: we're in the same arc and yet you know, but
- 3:40Speaker 1: I just really felt this one and I can't. I
- 3:44Speaker 1: wish I could like explain what it is, but it's
- 3:47Speaker 1: it had a similar thing feel to me as the
- 3:50Speaker 1: theme song to the television show Oh My God, What's
- 3:56Speaker 1: the What's the TV show that was like adapted after
- 3:58Speaker 1: a movie got really successful about football, But that theme
- 4:03Speaker 1: song for that show, it's like the same thing. I
- 4:05Speaker 1: immediately feel like I'm transported to like another time in
- 4:08Speaker 1: my life. And I think it just has to be
- 4:11Speaker 1: like some chords that they use that are were frequently
- 4:14Speaker 1: used during a certain era. I don't know, doesn't matter,
- 4:18Speaker 1: but uh, anyway, So I also at the end of
- 4:24Speaker 1: the last episode, I never got to the point where
- 4:28Speaker 1: I mentioned because we have do Flamingo actually say that
- 4:36Speaker 1: it wasn't real important for him to become a pirate.
- 4:39Speaker 1: It was just like the easiest means to an end
- 4:43Speaker 1: because the thing he was most interested in doing was
- 4:47Speaker 1: destroying this world, and I don't feel like it ever,
- 4:50Speaker 1: like got to the point where I started talking about
- 4:53Speaker 1: that specifically, But I really want more like people to
- 5:01Speaker 1: ask questions about that, because look, far be it from me,
- 5:07Speaker 1: somebody who has frequently said, let's just like let it
- 5:09Speaker 1: all burn. I don't hate the idea of destroying the
- 5:17Speaker 1: world if you frame it the right way, you know, like,
- 5:22Speaker 1: there are some things about destroying this world that work
- 5:26Speaker 1: for me that I could see it, but I don't
- 5:32Speaker 1: have any faith that do. Flamingo's reasons are the same
- 5:36Speaker 1: as my reasons, based not only on the fact that
- 5:40Speaker 1: his actions so far have spoken quite loudly, but also
- 5:43Speaker 1: the fact that he comes from a very rich and
- 5:46Speaker 1: powerful family. So there's a big part of me that
- 5:48Speaker 1: is just like, shut up, dude, you don't want to
- 5:51Speaker 1: destroy this world. You want to stay in power with
- 5:55Speaker 1: everything that you need like you always have. You actually
- 5:58Speaker 1: don't want anything to change, you know, Like, I don't
- 6:02Speaker 1: know his his motivations for this, but I don't trust
- 6:08Speaker 1: what he says and I'm not taking it at face
- 6:10Speaker 1: value at all. So we have all of the uh
- 6:17Speaker 1: the like do Flamingo's family gathered up ready to fight
- 6:23Speaker 1: the others who were heading in, and there's I'm trying
- 6:27Speaker 1: to remember who it is that says the thing. Later,
- 6:30Speaker 1: but somebody points out that like do Flamingo's whole plan
- 6:35Speaker 1: here had like might have worked out okay if he
- 6:40Speaker 1: hadn't decided that he was going to make there be
- 6:43Speaker 1: a tournament filled with some of the best fighters on
- 6:49Speaker 1: planet Earth, like the which was a really good point
- 6:53Speaker 1: that I hadn't considered that he has just been assuming
- 6:57Speaker 1: I can have all these fighters and set things up
- 7:01Speaker 1: to guarantee that my guy, the one that I wanted,
- 7:04Speaker 1: would win the Flame Flame Fruit and that Loofy would
- 7:09Speaker 1: be distracted and I could take his people down. But
- 7:12Speaker 1: it went so very left because he wasn't ready for
- 7:16Speaker 1: the other eventualities, and so now it's like he personally
- 7:20Speaker 1: invited the army that's going to crush him, which is
- 7:25Speaker 1: a little bit embarrassing. Actually, I felt like ouch, you know,
- 7:30Speaker 1: like that really that is sort of I'm not saying
- 7:34Speaker 1: that this is like completely a fuck up, because he
- 7:40Speaker 1: could not have seen coming the confluence of events that
- 7:44Speaker 1: led to this happening, but it is just sort of
- 7:49Speaker 1: like an embarrassing scenario that has circumstantially happened. I Oh
- 7:58Speaker 1: my god, Yeah, Sir Francis Q, Michael Caine, some people
- 8:03Speaker 1: just want to see the world burn and that's I
- 8:07Speaker 1: guess his energy. But yeah, it's Friday Night Lights. That's
- 8:13Speaker 1: the name of the TV show theme song. I was
- 8:16Speaker 1: thinking of. Oh my god, I don't know why it
- 8:17Speaker 1: just came to me now. I'm sorry, guys. My brain
- 8:20Speaker 1: is working on several levels at all times, and none
- 8:22Speaker 1: of those levels is particularly helpful anyway. So these dudes
- 8:28Speaker 1: are all coming at the pirates and it is pretty
- 8:31Speaker 1: fun because like all of Dophie's guys are so sure
- 8:37Speaker 1: that they are going to be able to crush them,
- 8:39Speaker 1: and it doesn't go down that way at all, and
- 8:42Speaker 1: we get to see a lot of them using their
- 8:45Speaker 1: abilities that we were introduced to in the tournament, and
- 8:50Speaker 1: I just like, I want to kind of touch back
- 8:56Speaker 1: on something that I really felt when I first was
- 9:00Speaker 1: watching all of this, because you guys, remember that, like
- 9:03Speaker 1: the introduction of one character after another with their own
- 9:06Speaker 1: abilities and their own names and the whole you know,
- 9:09Speaker 1: like YadA YadA. I uh was kind of like, what
- 9:17Speaker 1: are we even doing with this? And as you all know,
- 9:20Speaker 1: I decided to not make myself memorize anything, and now
- 9:26Speaker 1: that we are at this point, I won't say at
- 9:30Speaker 1: all that I wish I had memorized them, because I don't.
- 9:32Speaker 1: I don't think that was necessary. I don't think it's
- 9:34Speaker 1: necessarily gonna be helpful in my coverage. But I do
- 9:37Speaker 1: want to say that I really enjoy that the like
- 9:44Speaker 1: each individual is being given a bit of a showcase,
- 9:47Speaker 1: and that there does seem to be a payoff for
- 9:52Speaker 1: the way that they each were introduced, you know, like
- 9:56Speaker 1: it just feels like the kind of thing that I
- 9:59Speaker 1: had very little expectation on whether or not this was
- 10:04Speaker 1: going to wind up being satisfying, and I am pleased
- 10:10Speaker 1: that it has turned this corner and gotten here. And
- 10:14Speaker 1: also the giant Hajjhrudin. I think that's how you say
- 10:21Speaker 1: his name. I don't remember anybody having said it out loud,
- 10:24Speaker 1: but it shows up in the subtitles on the dub.
- 10:29Speaker 1: But he I've mentioned before how much he reminds me
- 10:33Speaker 1: of a wrestler, and it was macho man Randy Savage,
- 10:40Speaker 1: that is who this guy reminds me of. And if
- 10:43Speaker 1: y'all don't know who that is, just look him up,
- 10:45Speaker 1: and I think you will immediately understand because Randy Savage
- 10:49Speaker 1: had a particular look to him and always wore these
- 10:53Speaker 1: like big aviator shaped glasses that had a real like
- 10:58Speaker 1: specific sort of look and a hat, and he had
- 11:00Speaker 1: long shaggy hair and the beard and everything like this guy.
- 11:05Speaker 1: It feels like he has got to have been modeled
- 11:07Speaker 1: after him to a point. Another thing that I liked
- 11:12Speaker 1: about all of these guys finally working together, other than
- 11:16Speaker 1: the fact that, like clearly Dophi's people were not expecting
- 11:20Speaker 1: them to like throw in with each other, they all
- 11:23Speaker 1: are a little bit taken aback because everybody had been
- 11:27Speaker 1: such a total disaster that they got pretty comfortable and
- 11:31Speaker 1: started to be like, oh, these dudes will be no problem.
- 11:34Speaker 1: We'll take them and it'll be like barely cost us
- 11:38Speaker 1: a sweat. But now that we have got the all
- 11:44Speaker 1: of them working together, these dudes are all just like,
- 11:47Speaker 1: holy shit, what happened? These guys were fucking like everybody
- 11:52Speaker 1: was fighting each other ten minutes ago, and then they
- 11:55Speaker 1: like turned the corner and all of a sudden, they
- 11:57Speaker 1: are a big problem for us. And I personally like
- 12:02Speaker 1: was as smug as if this had been all my
- 12:04Speaker 1: own idea. I was just like, yeah, that's what you get.
- 12:07Speaker 1: I just like whenever people begin to work together for
- 12:11Speaker 1: a change, I mean it's just nice. So yeah, and
- 12:17Speaker 1: that's pretty much like of the three episodes, this first
- 12:21Speaker 1: one is mostly a focus on every one of these
- 12:24Speaker 1: guys and the ways that they are working together. Fucking
- 12:28Speaker 1: Dellinger is I stand by my hatred of Dellinger, y'all.
- 12:39Speaker 1: I hate him so much, and it's like irrational, you
- 12:45Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, Like there is something in me
- 12:50Speaker 1: when he pops up. I think what it is is
- 12:54Speaker 1: just the gleefulness, you know. There's just something about how
- 12:59Speaker 1: excited he is to fuck with people that is very
- 13:03Speaker 1: much giving bully, you know. So I think that's what
- 13:10Speaker 1: bugs me. Is like it's one thing to be a
- 13:13Speaker 1: good fighter, and it's another thing to like to like
- 13:15Speaker 1: humiliate the people that you're fighting and take them down
- 13:20Speaker 1: a certain type of way. It's more than just I
- 13:24Speaker 1: am fighting and I like to fight. It's an interest
- 13:28Speaker 1: in really demeaning the person that you're up against, and
- 13:31Speaker 1: he really seems to like doing that and it is
- 13:36Speaker 1: super gross. It's just really fucking gross. I don't like it.
- 13:41Speaker 1: I don't like him, and every time that he has
- 13:45Speaker 1: popped up, I have just been sort of like revolted.
- 13:50Speaker 1: You know, it's oh, sarahim Yeah, I can see it.
- 13:56Speaker 1: With Dellander, the Trouble remains the most annoying character in
- 13:59Speaker 1: one piece for me. I will say, Sarah him. As
- 14:02Speaker 1: much as I hate Dellinger, I definitely wouldn't put him
- 14:06Speaker 1: at the top of the list of like most hated.
- 14:09Speaker 1: I just I think I think that what keeps taking
- 14:14Speaker 1: me off guard is that he isn't even on screen
- 14:19Speaker 1: that much, and yet the response in my gut when
- 14:23Speaker 1: I see him is so dramatic. Do you know what
- 14:25Speaker 1: I'm saying, Like, every time he pops up, I'm just like, wow,
- 14:30Speaker 1: I really hate this guy, and it just like kind
- 14:33Speaker 1: of takes me off guard. Treble he has been on
- 14:39Speaker 1: enough and has been participating directly in the whole thing
- 14:43Speaker 1: with like turning people into toys, and so the hatred
- 14:46Speaker 1: I have for him it feels more rooted in something
- 14:49Speaker 1: that the man actually did. With Treble, It's just like
- 14:55Speaker 1: it's less associated. It has felt like it's not as
- 15:00Speaker 1: associated with his actions. Once I step back and look
- 15:02Speaker 1: at it, it really is still associated with his actions,
- 15:06Speaker 1: but like it didn't feel that way when I would
- 15:09Speaker 1: have this gut response to him. So I'm gonna agree
- 15:12Speaker 1: with you, Sarah, and that like Trouble is much much
- 15:15Speaker 1: more annoying. I feel like I want to start keeping
- 15:19Speaker 1: a list of the ones that I hate. The one
- 15:22Speaker 1: that beat the shit out of Robin, who was like
- 15:24Speaker 1: weirdly sexual with her, is still my number one most
- 15:27Speaker 1: hated character. I would probably put what hair Caribou right
- 15:32Speaker 1: underneath him, because he has the same sort of lering
- 15:37Speaker 1: quality to him, so I feel like I just see
- 15:43Speaker 1: him the same way overall, that he's just got the
- 15:46Speaker 1: same sort of like gross creeper sort of vibe. But uh, Treble,
- 15:54Speaker 1: I would definitely put in, Like there's different types of
- 15:59Speaker 1: ones that I hate so much, like span Them. That's
- 16:02Speaker 1: his name, Thank you, Sarah, him Span Them, I truly
- 16:06Speaker 1: hate as a like I hate him, Treble, I hate,
- 16:13Speaker 1: but he is also so gross and that adds a
- 16:17Speaker 1: totally different dynamic. Just his voice, the fucking like snot
- 16:23Speaker 1: hanging out of his nose and the fact that that
- 16:25Speaker 1: is like his power is basically like using snot. They
- 16:29Speaker 1: call it glue. I know what we're doing, don't try
- 16:32Speaker 1: to lie to me, So yeah, that's also part of
- 16:36Speaker 1: what's going on there. And uh, I'm trying to think like,
- 16:41Speaker 1: because you know, there are people, they are characters that
- 16:44Speaker 1: are that you're going to hate because they are in
- 16:49Speaker 1: the story really terrible, and then there are ones that
- 16:52Speaker 1: you hate because they remind you of like real life
- 16:56Speaker 1: people sometimes you know that are terrible. And so Spandem
- 17:01Speaker 1: just felt like a person that is that is real,
- 17:05Speaker 1: that exists in the world that is bad. And so
- 17:09Speaker 1: my hatred of him was very acute because he is
- 17:13Speaker 1: like somehow represents a certain whole type of like person.
- 17:19Speaker 1: Treble is unlike anybody I have ever met. I don't
- 17:24Speaker 1: know a soul like Trouble, you know, like this dude
- 17:26Speaker 1: is just so very specifically disgusting. And Dellinger It's it's
- 17:33Speaker 1: sort of weird too considering everything, because Dellinger is very
- 17:39Speaker 1: gay coded, and a part of me at first was
- 17:45Speaker 1: sort of like, like him being a bully feels really
- 17:51Speaker 1: weird because usually it's a person that is seen as gay,
- 17:56Speaker 1: perceived as gay by other people that gets bullied, so like,
- 18:00Speaker 1: what are we doing? And then as I stepped back
- 18:04Speaker 1: and thought about it, I was like, oh, is it
- 18:07Speaker 1: supposed to be sort of like the bitchy gay, Like,
- 18:11Speaker 1: is that what we're kind of doing here where it's
- 18:13Speaker 1: like he's the type that's sort of making snarky remarks
- 18:20Speaker 1: that whenever I think about like a bitchy gay, I
- 18:23Speaker 1: immediately picture the type of dude that would sit on
- 18:27Speaker 1: one of those little chairs next to Joan Rivers and
- 18:30Speaker 1: just snipe about the dresses of the celebrities that were
- 18:34Speaker 1: coming down the red carpet. And because I used to
- 18:37Speaker 1: watch that stuff when I was younger, and the way
- 18:41Speaker 1: that they would talk about women's bodies was super like
- 18:45Speaker 1: disgusting and so fat shamy, like, you know, so you know,
- 18:51Speaker 1: obviously Dellinger is not doing any of that, but the
- 18:57Speaker 1: energy of like wanting to sort of take people down
- 19:00Speaker 1: a notch and humiliate them is kind of there the
- 19:03Speaker 1: same way, And so I think that's sort of where
- 19:07Speaker 1: I'm putting him in my mental space. I feel like
- 19:10Speaker 1: he would go on a similar list as Spandem for
- 19:15Speaker 1: the reason of reminding me of like a real life
- 19:18Speaker 1: person that is out here actively making things worse for everybody,
- 19:24Speaker 1: if that makes sense. Sarah em says, I'm not even
- 19:29Speaker 1: sure Oda was going for gay definitely femboy, but that
- 19:32Speaker 1: doesn't have to be the same thing. Yeah, it's sort
- 19:35Speaker 1: of difficult to know where like, because you and I
- 19:39Speaker 1: may know that that's not the same thing, but a
- 19:41Speaker 1: lot of people aren't drawing distinctions that fine, And I'm
- 19:45Speaker 1: not sure if Oda would or would I don't know how,
- 19:51Speaker 1: you know educated he is on the topic, So either way,
- 19:57Speaker 1: I think that's what it is about him though. That's
- 19:59Speaker 1: like getting to me is just the fact that he
- 20:01Speaker 1: is so like there's a real cruelty in him that
- 20:06Speaker 1: I feel is I recognize it's familiar. So okay, we
- 20:16Speaker 1: go back here, like in the midst of this fight
- 20:19Speaker 1: to the junkyard under the Executive tower where Kinimon is
- 20:24Speaker 1: trying to find his friend, and eventually he does. There's
- 20:31Speaker 1: this weird like piece of wall that doesn't match up
- 20:35Speaker 1: to the rest of the wall, and he's like hearing
- 20:38Speaker 1: something from behind it, and Conjureau is back there saying,
- 20:45Speaker 1: I said I can't eat anymore, and I was like,
- 20:49Speaker 1: can't eat anymore? What are you talking about? It turns
- 20:52Speaker 1: out that he can make food for himself. Later on,
- 20:57Speaker 1: Kinemon is like that food does not agree with my
- 20:59Speaker 1: stomach and all seems to like make him sick. Uh.
- 21:02Speaker 1: But Condre is introduced, and the look of this dude
- 21:09Speaker 1: is truly wild. Y'all. I'm gonna I'm gonna step back
- 21:15Speaker 1: and describe this guy. And I also just want to
- 21:18Speaker 1: mention that Kinemon's reaction to seeing him and like his
- 21:21Speaker 1: his angry tears are it's really perfect. It's very good.
- 21:28Speaker 1: So Condre steps out of the dark and is carrying
- 21:32Speaker 1: this like really weird looking lettuce. We find out later
- 21:36Speaker 1: that this is something that he drew that like came
- 21:39Speaker 1: to life, right, but at the moment we don't know that.
- 21:42Speaker 1: So I'm just like, why is that outlined in black
- 21:46Speaker 1: in that manner? You know? Condre like has a similar
- 21:55Speaker 1: I'm trying to trying to think where to start with
- 21:57Speaker 1: the overall look of this guy, because he's got bright
- 22:03Speaker 1: pink red hair. It's like, I'm trying to think of
- 22:07Speaker 1: the color that you would describe this like a raspberry,
- 22:11Speaker 1: really really pale skin, like perfectly circular. He's definitely got
- 22:21Speaker 1: makeup on. I was expecting him to look more similar
- 22:25Speaker 1: to kenan On and instead he looks more like the
- 22:30Speaker 1: uh that one bad guy whose hair was a weapon
- 22:37Speaker 1: and who did all of those sort of like kabooky things.
- 22:41Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying about that I can't remember
- 22:42Speaker 1: that character, but yeah, he's got like joker makeup. His
- 22:49Speaker 1: lips remind me a lot of Caesar clown as well,
- 22:53Speaker 1: but you know, really really red lipstick bangs. The hair
- 23:00Speaker 1: comes down on either side, but it also seems to
- 23:03Speaker 1: be cut short on the sides, although that could just
- 23:07Speaker 1: be the effect of the extremely high shoulders of this
- 23:12Speaker 1: like overrobe that he is wearing. Also the fact that
- 23:17Speaker 1: his name is evening shower. I know that it's probably
- 23:20Speaker 1: meant to be like rain shower, but it just sounds
- 23:23Speaker 1: like taking a shower in the evening, and that is very,
- 23:26Speaker 1: very funny. And overall, the pink hair, the pink over robe,
- 23:32Speaker 1: the big turquoise bow in the center. He has like
- 23:38Speaker 1: a kind of circus look to him. And it was
- 23:46Speaker 1: just it was unexpected because I just thought, after meeting
- 23:51Speaker 1: Kinemon and his son and them looking the way that
- 23:54Speaker 1: they look, that all of them were going to kind
- 23:57Speaker 1: of look that way too. And I don't know if
- 24:01Speaker 1: it's supposed to be that Condureau is sort of a
- 24:03Speaker 1: leader within the samurai community or if they are simply
- 24:08Speaker 1: this varied if it's always like, you know, a totally
- 24:12Speaker 1: different experience depending on who they are, but the intensity
- 24:19Speaker 1: of his character design it was just really really unexpected,
- 24:23Speaker 1: And I I will admit, the way that his eyes
- 24:28Speaker 1: are drawn is kind of weird, to a point that
- 24:33Speaker 1: if I had met him in a vacuum, I think
- 24:36Speaker 1: I would have expected him to be a villain, because
- 24:40Speaker 1: he's got a kind of aggressive, like heavy lidded eyes
- 24:49Speaker 1: that even when he seems like he's smiling, his eyes
- 24:53Speaker 1: don't really change very much. There was just something about
- 24:56Speaker 1: him that, like I almost thought for a second when
- 24:59Speaker 1: he first stepped out, Oh no, is it gonna turn
- 25:03Speaker 1: out to be that Kinimon is sort of has been
- 25:09Speaker 1: played a little bit, and that it turns out Conjurea
- 25:14Speaker 1: isn't as great a guy as Kinimon thinks and is
- 25:17Speaker 1: just you know, has been tricked into like wasting time
- 25:22Speaker 1: and coming to save him because he doesn't know any better.
- 25:27Speaker 1: And as things go on, it's pretty clear to me
- 25:31Speaker 1: eventually that like, no, he is supposed to be a
- 25:35Speaker 1: good guy and he's just a bit of a weirdo.
- 25:37Speaker 1: But there was just a kind of aggressive sort of
- 25:41Speaker 1: quality to him that I kept being like, what is
- 25:46Speaker 1: his uh, what is his deal? Precisely, eventually, when it
- 25:51Speaker 1: comes time to get him out of here, he has
- 25:58Speaker 1: a brush on the end of his sword hilt. And
- 26:05Speaker 1: I know that there is supposed to be some sort
- 26:07Speaker 1: of tradition with samurai and doing like calligraphy, but I
- 26:12Speaker 1: do not know enough about it to really like say anything.
- 26:17Speaker 1: I just, you know, I just wanted to mention that
- 26:23Speaker 1: I am familiar passingly with this sort of thing being
- 26:28Speaker 1: paired together with, you know, sword fighting, but I don't
- 26:32Speaker 1: know the details about it. And he paints a bird
- 26:37Speaker 1: on the wall and he brings it to life to
- 26:42Speaker 1: escape on it. I think that you guys are all
- 26:46Speaker 1: going to be pretty prepared for what I have to
- 26:48Speaker 1: say here, but I'm going to say it anyway, and
- 26:52Speaker 1: that is I hated this so much. I hated it
- 26:57Speaker 1: so much, you guys. This poor fucking bird, this poor
- 27:06Speaker 1: shit of a bird. He didn't ask to be here,
- 27:11Speaker 1: he didn't want this. He could barely fly. And then
- 27:16Speaker 1: he gets too heavy ass samurai with their fucking weapons
- 27:20Speaker 1: and everything on his back and he has to carry them,
- 27:23Speaker 1: and later on, like by the time he carries them,
- 27:25Speaker 1: he has literally passed out. I didn't enjoy this one bit.
- 27:31Speaker 1: I was like, put that bird back in the wall,
- 27:34Speaker 1: get your little fucking paint brush out, and paint some
- 27:38Speaker 1: bigger wings on that bitch, and don't you dare try
- 27:43Speaker 1: to step on his back until that has been sorted out.
- 27:48Speaker 1: I don't appreciate it. However, I will say that when
- 27:53Speaker 1: he paints a bunch of uh ladders for them to
- 27:59Speaker 1: get out, it was very funny. All the guys are like,
- 28:05Speaker 1: it would be a lot easier to climb this if
- 28:07Speaker 1: they were drawn straight, and he's like, how dare you?
- 28:11Speaker 1: That's very mean, And I did think that was kind
- 28:14Speaker 1: of funny, So that's that's fine. But yeah, I really
- 28:21Speaker 1: this guy's power. I like hope that we don't get
- 28:24Speaker 1: too many bringing horrible animals to life, because I just
- 28:29Speaker 1: feel like it's gonna be awful every time. Yeah, literally,
- 28:35Speaker 1: like Saraphim is in the chat saying, you can just
- 28:38Speaker 1: hear that bird thinking existence is suffering, please just let
- 28:40Speaker 1: me die, and like, yeah, whenever something like this happens,
- 28:46Speaker 1: my husband and I always like whisper that like kill me, like,
- 28:51Speaker 1: you know, failed experiment in a jar somewhere begging for
- 28:54Speaker 1: its life to be ended. Yeah, I this poor fucking thing.
- 28:59Speaker 1: So we have then the at the end of this episode,
- 29:05Speaker 1: the like kind of big thrust of the I'm not
- 29:11Speaker 1: sure if I want to call it the plot exactly,
- 29:14Speaker 1: but it's certainly like we have turned a big corner
- 29:16Speaker 1: here is that Cavendish is talking to Loofy and Law
- 29:24Speaker 1: and I will never you, guys, the fact that Law
- 29:27Speaker 1: is literally still just like laying sideways on this on
- 29:32Speaker 1: the back of what are they still riding Lucy? I
- 29:36Speaker 1: don't even remember. I think the Cavendish has his horse.
- 29:42Speaker 1: But it's very, very funny because I keep forgetting Law
- 29:46Speaker 1: is even there, because you only see Loofy and Cavendish
- 29:49Speaker 1: sitting up straight, and then the camera pans over to
- 29:53Speaker 1: Law laying weirdly on his side and looking really pissy,
- 29:57Speaker 1: and it is genuinely hilarious to me every time because
- 30:03Speaker 1: I just straight up for good he was there, and
- 30:06Speaker 1: I'm like, oh God, that is so embarrassing for you.
- 30:09Speaker 1: I'm so sorry, but he is. Cavendish is sharing his
- 30:17Speaker 1: theory here, which I think makes total sense, and that
- 30:22Speaker 1: is do Flamingo doesn't intend for anybody to make it
- 30:27Speaker 1: off of this island alive. He is pretending that he
- 30:33Speaker 1: set the bird cage up in order to keep everybody
- 30:37Speaker 1: playing his little game, but really he has set it
- 30:42Speaker 1: up this way so that no information can get out,
- 30:45Speaker 1: and that way he can kill everybody here and continue
- 30:50Speaker 1: doing what he's always done with no witnesses to be
- 30:53Speaker 1: able to speak against him. And personally, I think that
- 30:59Speaker 1: makes a lot of sense. I think that this is
- 31:02Speaker 1: the most likely scenario. And like, you guys, remember how
- 31:06Speaker 1: when the bird cage first went up and we found
- 31:09Speaker 1: out that like there was no way to get any transponders,
- 31:14Speaker 1: snail information through it or anything. I was like, oh shit,
- 31:18Speaker 1: you know, I didn't consider that there was that what
- 31:25Speaker 1: seemed to be a purely physical barrier was going to
- 31:29Speaker 1: be able to do anything. But once I did, I
- 31:34Speaker 1: was like, that's actually really really convenient. And so the
- 31:38Speaker 1: idea that that's actually like the point of what he
- 31:42Speaker 1: is doing, that it's less a side effect or like
- 31:47Speaker 1: to buy time, and maybe that's what he intends to
- 31:51Speaker 1: be the main point hadn't occurred to me. Like killing
- 31:56Speaker 1: a whole island of people is just such bog shit
- 32:00Speaker 1: to me. That's the part that I keep running up
- 32:03Speaker 1: against is like even if you didn't get information out.
- 32:06Speaker 1: How do you ever hide that because eventually, if you
- 32:11Speaker 1: ever leave this island, somebody is going to come sailing
- 32:15Speaker 1: up and be like, that's weird. This island had people
- 32:17Speaker 1: on it last time I was here? Where is everybody?
- 32:21Speaker 1: But I guess even if they do, are people going
- 32:25Speaker 1: to associate that with do Flamingo and realize he's responsible.
- 32:30Speaker 1: That's kind of a like I think that he was
- 32:33Speaker 1: well known enough that as a ruler here they would
- 32:36Speaker 1: have to realize, but that he was like involved. But
- 32:43Speaker 1: I don't know, I really don't. I guess if you've
- 32:49Speaker 1: got no witnesses, even if everybody is killed and they
- 32:53Speaker 1: do associate that with you, you can just say anything happened,
- 33:00Speaker 1: you know, Like I guess that's really what it is.
- 33:03Speaker 1: Is sort of well, uh, no, other pirates came real
- 33:08Speaker 1: bad guys and we tried to fight them. But those bastards,
- 33:12Speaker 1: they were the ones that killed everybody. I tried to
- 33:15Speaker 1: save them. And who else is going to say anything
- 33:17Speaker 1: because nobody was there? And I suppose that's it. You
- 33:22Speaker 1: could just say fucking anything. That's kind of terrifying. Well,
- 33:27Speaker 1: no to self, but yeah, like all this to say that,
- 33:31Speaker 1: I think Cavendish's assertion here is on the money, and
- 33:34Speaker 1: it's the one time Cabinishes really seemed to be useful,
- 33:38Speaker 1: because mostly he just talked so much shit and sir,
- 33:42Speaker 1: I'm sort of over you. So for the horse's name
- 33:51Speaker 1: is for rule. I think they finally get to the
- 33:55Speaker 1: top of this hill and there's a moment where I
- 34:00Speaker 1: was like, is for we're going to just like fly
- 34:02Speaker 1: into the air because his hoofs continue to go upward
- 34:06Speaker 1: like he hadn't expected the road to end. And while
- 34:11Speaker 1: they're up there and just sort of waiting and they're
- 34:14Speaker 1: hearing this like weird thudding, Cavendish just like for, well,
- 34:17Speaker 1: what's happening here? And all of a sudden, you see
- 34:22Speaker 1: these figures come out of the the fog misted. I
- 34:29Speaker 1: don't even know, And I said earlier about how these
- 34:32Speaker 1: things look like they are ten soldiers, but they have
- 34:40Speaker 1: a much more skull like face, and they're really big.
- 34:44Speaker 1: I mean, they look like they're each around the size
- 34:48Speaker 1: of Frankie and maybe that's too big, but they're they're
- 34:53Speaker 1: much bigger, for example, than when oh my god, Kravos
- 35:00Speaker 1: not the same when he was turned into a toy soldier.
- 35:03Speaker 1: He was you know what three feet tall. Maybe these
- 35:08Speaker 1: guys are huge, and they don't really seem to be
- 35:14Speaker 1: like well coordinated because when they step forward, one of
- 35:20Speaker 1: them like trips and falls and like he falls onto
- 35:25Speaker 1: his face. There's a long pause where it's sort of like, oh,
- 35:28Speaker 1: has he just been sort of taken out of commission?
- 35:32Speaker 1: And then all of a sudden his head flips up
- 35:34Speaker 1: and he starts to crawl front ways towards everybody on
- 35:40Speaker 1: the horse. It is honestly a really freaky moment. This,
- 35:46Speaker 1: like One Piece has never done creepy like very much
- 35:56Speaker 1: on purpose. I think there has been plenty of creepiness
- 35:59Speaker 1: that happens acts dentally as a side effect of other stuff,
- 36:03Speaker 1: but in terms of it being something that like the
- 36:05Speaker 1: show is really going for. Even when we were on
- 36:09Speaker 1: like uh killer thriller Bark, it was so cartoonish a
- 36:16Speaker 1: lot of the creepiness, you know, it just didn't feel
- 36:19Speaker 1: like this. This was a different level to me. This
- 36:23Speaker 1: felt really horror movie like with the fog hiding the
- 36:29Speaker 1: like making the visibility really bad, the way that these
- 36:32Speaker 1: things move. I was like, is this the manifestation of
- 36:37Speaker 1: something that Sugar made while she's asleep? And so that's
- 36:41Speaker 1: why they're like kind of off in terms of toys.
- 36:45Speaker 1: I don't know. I just felt like there was something
- 36:48Speaker 1: else happening here, and I don't think correct me if
- 36:53Speaker 1: I'm wrong. By the end of these episodes, we actually
- 36:55Speaker 1: know where they're coming from. We briefly go back to
- 37:00Speaker 1: and Zorro's fight, and I will register my continuing surprise
- 37:05Speaker 1: at how not a big part of the story this
- 37:10Speaker 1: fight is. It's fine. I just really want to say, like,
- 37:16Speaker 1: I don't find the sword fight stuff that like exciting
- 37:22Speaker 1: to watch as a viewer. Sometimes it can be, but
- 37:25Speaker 1: a lot of the time it's whatever. So I like,
- 37:29Speaker 1: I want to say that for myself, the fact that
- 37:31Speaker 1: we are only briefly touching base with them and then
- 37:34Speaker 1: kind of going back to the other shit, I am
- 37:37Speaker 1: one hundred percent fine with. I am not over here
- 37:40Speaker 1: like upset that we haven't been watching the two of
- 37:44Speaker 1: them from beginning to end. But it does surprise me that,
- 37:49Speaker 1: like this far along, the two of them are still
- 37:53Speaker 1: fighting in the midst of all of this. And there's
- 37:56Speaker 1: a really cute moment where Zorro says, I've just to
- 38:00Speaker 1: say that if this is all you've got, you never
- 38:02Speaker 1: had a chance against my captain, and that my captain
- 38:09Speaker 1: at the end was so unexpected to me. I really
- 38:12Speaker 1: thought he was gonna say, like, you never had a
- 38:14Speaker 1: chance against me, And the fact that it's like you
- 38:17Speaker 1: never had a chance against my captain was just so cute.
- 38:22Speaker 1: I just really loved that it was more a brag
- 38:28Speaker 1: about Loofy than anything. It was. I just didn't see
- 38:32Speaker 1: that coming, guys. I just thought that that was like,
- 38:34Speaker 1: really precious. Anytime that like somebody who is sort of
- 38:40Speaker 1: a hard ass in other ways kind of begins to
- 38:44Speaker 1: gas up another character, it means a lot more, you
- 38:49Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. So I just I liked this
- 38:53Speaker 1: moment a lot. And despite the fact that like the
- 38:55Speaker 1: two of them fighting isn't that riveting to me, I
- 39:00Speaker 1: did like what we saw once we did go over
- 39:04Speaker 1: to the two of them. And I will also mention
- 39:08Speaker 1: that every time Pika talks, it's still a surprise. I
- 39:11Speaker 1: still I keep forgetting what his voice sounds like, and
- 39:15Speaker 1: every time he talks, I start giggling again. I just
- 39:20Speaker 1: the very large man with a very small voice is
- 39:23Speaker 1: a trope that is so overplayed. I don't think I
- 39:27Speaker 1: ever would have believed that it would make me laugh
- 39:30Speaker 1: this much at this point, and they just pulled it
- 39:34Speaker 1: off so well. Also, as they're fighting, we have fucking
- 39:41Speaker 1: Bartolameo watching from above, getting starry eyed at the fact
- 39:46Speaker 1: that he's getting to see Zoro fight and it's like,
- 39:49Speaker 1: I really need to get down there and get an autograph.
- 39:54Speaker 1: And they're like realizing in the air, because again it's
- 39:59Speaker 1: Robin and Rebecca and Bartolomeo, that they are really vulnerable.
- 40:06Speaker 1: They're just flying in mid air and Pika could easily
- 40:11Speaker 1: just whip one of his weird little hands out and
- 40:14Speaker 1: smack them out of the sky. And they're watching and
- 40:18Speaker 1: it's like there had been a sort of tendril that
- 40:21Speaker 1: was facing out toward them that appeared to be like
- 40:26Speaker 1: perfectly poised to hit them, and it pulls away, and
- 40:31Speaker 1: I was like, what is happening here? And we see
- 40:34Speaker 1: then Pica's head pokes out of this whole other area
- 40:38Speaker 1: as the camera pulls back, his head is poking out
- 40:42Speaker 1: from where his other giant rockhead had used to be.
- 40:46Speaker 1: But it has to pull back very far for us
- 40:49Speaker 1: to understand that that's what's happening, because his body had
- 40:52Speaker 1: been so huge that for the full context. You've got
- 40:57Speaker 1: to pull back like a mile to see the entire
- 41:00Speaker 1: out of shoulders and understand where the head was. So
- 41:04Speaker 1: he lifts a fist and he's like, I'm gonna get
- 41:06Speaker 1: you guys, and it's coming toward them, and of course
- 41:09Speaker 1: Bartolomeo can't like raise a barrier big enough to stop
- 41:14Speaker 1: the hand entirely. So this is when Zoro jumps into
- 41:20Speaker 1: the air. He's got his three sword style. He gets
- 41:23Speaker 1: between them and the fist and one thousand and eighty
- 41:30Speaker 1: caliber Phoenix and slices this like figure through the Torso
- 41:38Speaker 1: I thought, best we can do is slice the hand off.
- 41:44Speaker 1: I was so wrong. Zoro completely like took it to
- 41:50Speaker 1: a different level. It's down through that that would be
- 41:55Speaker 1: a killing blow on a person, for sure. I mean
- 41:58Speaker 1: granted so with the decapitation from earlier and that wasn't
- 42:02Speaker 1: but like we have the decapitation still on the big
- 42:06Speaker 1: stone guy. It's gonna reach a point where this stone
- 42:09Speaker 1: guy is gonna have to completely reform from a scratch,
- 42:12Speaker 1: and I have to assume that's gonna take a little while.
- 42:17Speaker 1: And just this moment of Pica like staring down while
- 42:22Speaker 1: it's just his little head sticking out. It's it's super
- 42:26Speaker 1: weird looking. His hair sort of transforms into stone part
- 42:30Speaker 1: way down, and Zorro goes up to him and is like,
- 42:36Speaker 1: you underestimated the straw hats, and you know, the guys
- 42:40Speaker 1: that he named aren't the only ones you have to
- 42:42Speaker 1: worry about. You're looking at the guy who's going to
- 42:44Speaker 1: be the greatest swordsman in the world one day, and
- 42:48Speaker 1: Bartolomeo is literally in tears over it, and he's just
- 42:52Speaker 1: so like proud, weirdly, mister Zorrow, Oh my god, you guys,
- 42:59Speaker 1: Barlomeo still MVP. MVP love him so much. Like if
- 43:05Speaker 1: I thought that I could pull this off, I would
- 43:09Speaker 1: definitely consider cosplaying as him if I were going to
- 43:13Speaker 1: an event, But unfortunately, I don't think there's like any
- 43:18Speaker 1: part of how I look that would lend itself to
- 43:21Speaker 1: being Bartholomeo. So let's go back to the the Smile Factory.
- 43:31Speaker 1: There is a very like I'll say that for me
- 43:35Speaker 1: right now, what's happening at the Smile Factory is kind
- 43:39Speaker 1: of on par with the tournament in terms of, like,
- 43:44Speaker 1: I know that this is a thing. I know that
- 43:46Speaker 1: we have to cope with it, and I know that,
- 43:48Speaker 1: like probably eventually this will all tie together and be
- 43:53Speaker 1: important somehow. But from where I am currently sitting, the
- 44:01Speaker 1: like all of the stuff with the Tantata that are
- 44:04Speaker 1: that is not involving them with our enemies out on
- 44:08Speaker 1: like the front lines, is just kind of infuriating, you know,
- 44:13Speaker 1: I didn't like. So they're still operating at first under
- 44:18Speaker 1: this misapprehension that the princess is being kept somewhere in
- 44:22Speaker 1: the facility, and this is part of like the whole
- 44:25Speaker 1: lie that they have been fed. They The way that
- 44:31Speaker 1: a couple of these guys later on try to convince
- 44:34Speaker 1: them that they should stay and just set aside all
- 44:37Speaker 1: of this silly you know, like trouble that they're causing
- 44:42Speaker 1: is by saying, like, well, she's gonna be really sad
- 44:45Speaker 1: if you leave, and so don't you want to keep
- 44:50Speaker 1: her company? And also like if you if you leave,
- 44:56Speaker 1: he makes some other comparison about like, well, like every
- 45:00Speaker 1: thing we're doing here is to help get her better,
- 45:03Speaker 1: so maybe she'll get worse. Just you know, the whole
- 45:07Speaker 1: thing with a tatata is that they're very compassionate, sweet
- 45:12Speaker 1: kind of beings, and so these dudes know that and
- 45:16Speaker 1: start adapting their arguments to fit what they know is
- 45:21Speaker 1: going to be of primary importance to these little creatures,
- 45:25Speaker 1: And it's a It's just I think that part of
- 45:34Speaker 1: what I'm not really enjoying about this little plot line
- 45:41Speaker 1: is seeing the fact that like beings are kind and
- 45:45Speaker 1: sweet being exploited. It's not fun to watch. That's just
- 45:50Speaker 1: something that happened, Like do you know what I'm saying, Like,
- 45:53Speaker 1: there's just a feeling to that that is again a
- 45:57Speaker 1: little true to life that makes it more Oh god,
- 46:04Speaker 1: you know, is that us? Is that me? Is that
- 46:07Speaker 1: my friends, all of us getting played because we're just
- 46:10Speaker 1: like so we're such dough eide hay seeds, And that
- 46:16Speaker 1: just hits a little harder, like these days especially. And
- 46:20Speaker 1: then there's also the fact that like I can so
- 46:24Speaker 1: transparently see through what is being done to them that
- 46:29Speaker 1: there's no uncertainty in it for me where I can
- 46:32Speaker 1: like wonder, maybe there's some of this that's true. It's
- 46:36Speaker 1: just a complete it. All of this is just me
- 46:42Speaker 1: kind of having to wait for them to catch up
- 46:46Speaker 1: to the reality. And I've cited this as sort of
- 46:49Speaker 1: an issue before with like mysteries. A lot of time
- 46:53Speaker 1: is like the primary thing that this can come up,
- 46:55Speaker 1: but not necessarily only mysteries. It's just the one that
- 46:59Speaker 1: I always think of first when I, as a viewer,
- 47:05Speaker 1: am let in uncertain information first before a main character,
- 47:12Speaker 1: if that is meant to add to the tension because
- 47:15Speaker 1: I know, and so then we're going to go into
- 47:17Speaker 1: a scene where I'm aware of something and they're not.
- 47:20Speaker 1: That still works, but there are times where I just
- 47:27Speaker 1: figured out something before the main character. It wasn't information
- 47:32Speaker 1: given to me, but it was information that I was
- 47:34Speaker 1: able to put together in context so easily that the
- 47:39Speaker 1: fact that the main character hasn't put it together makes them
- 47:43Speaker 1: look like a fool and makes it really boring for
- 47:46Speaker 1: me to sit by because I'm not engaged anymore trying
- 47:50Speaker 1: to figure it out with them. I've already reached the
- 47:52Speaker 1: point where I have figured it out, and now I'm
- 47:54Speaker 1: just waiting for them to catch up, and that can
- 47:56Speaker 1: be very frustrating. And I think with Tantata, like always
- 48:03Speaker 1: being aware of how they're being played and that the
- 48:05Speaker 1: princess isn't here and knowing that, like they just have
- 48:09Speaker 1: got to get it together and understand that anything these
- 48:16Speaker 1: dudes say is a lie. Eventually they get to the
- 48:19Speaker 1: point where they do that, but they actually have to
- 48:21Speaker 1: put in This is kind of funny. They actually have
- 48:24Speaker 1: to put in earplugs so that they don't hear anything
- 48:31Speaker 1: because otherwise it's too much like temptation to believe these dudes.
- 48:38Speaker 1: And I will admit I did think that was kind
- 48:40Speaker 1: of funny that it's like, I can't just tell myself
- 48:44Speaker 1: that what they're saying is lies. I have to not
- 48:48Speaker 1: hear it at all, or else my default is to
- 48:50Speaker 1: believe it, which is kind of bonkers. But yeah, so
- 48:57Speaker 1: I just I found this plot line a little bit
- 49:01Speaker 1: tedious to get through. And then eventually we get the
- 49:04Speaker 1: addition of Queen spelled kuwee n. So let's talk about
- 49:13Speaker 1: Queen here, because there's a lot going on with her.
- 49:20Speaker 1: So this character, the way that she is introduced, it
- 49:23Speaker 1: was sort of weird because like the guys that are
- 49:26Speaker 1: down in the factory, they've been trying to deal with
- 49:29Speaker 1: the tantata and they manage to keep them like under
- 49:34Speaker 1: control most of the time, but evidently, like calling out
- 49:37Speaker 1: to her and telling her that you know, we have
- 49:41Speaker 1: an issue here that only you can cope with, is
- 49:45Speaker 1: we're escalating it to a level that they don't normally
- 49:48Speaker 1: have to do. And we see from behind this chair
- 49:55Speaker 1: that is positioned in front of a bunch of screens.
- 49:58Speaker 1: To just emphasize the fact that despite that she's not there,
- 50:03Speaker 1: Queen knows what's going on throughout the factory. She's got
- 50:06Speaker 1: eyes on everything. So when this dude says they started
- 50:10Speaker 1: a revolt, it's not like that's news to her. She
- 50:13Speaker 1: is fully aware. But this guy is like, yeah, we
- 50:17Speaker 1: need your help. It's gotten out of control. We can't
- 50:19Speaker 1: handle it anymore. And when we first go into this room,
- 50:27Speaker 1: we see this tiny little teacup being brought up to
- 50:30Speaker 1: these lips, and then we see like a little tea
- 50:35Speaker 1: tray with like cakes and sandwiches and stuff on it.
- 50:38Speaker 1: And you guys know that that is like a particular
- 50:42Speaker 1: weakness for me. High tea afternoon tea. Americans like have
- 50:47Speaker 1: kind of fucked the use of afternoon tea up, so
- 50:52Speaker 1: we call it high tea when what we mean is
- 50:53Speaker 1: afternoon tea. But uh, I am a huge sucker for this.
- 50:59Speaker 1: And so so I see this, I see these lips,
- 51:03Speaker 1: and I'm like, if this is about to be a
- 51:05Speaker 1: woman who was just having a tea party all by herself.
- 51:08Speaker 1: I'm very excited. And then she gets up and I
- 51:13Speaker 1: was so disappointed because I had thought maybe her design
- 51:18Speaker 1: was going to have something to do with like the
- 51:22Speaker 1: tea party aspect of things. Instead, everything about her doesn't
- 51:28Speaker 1: go together. So she's wearing what almost looks like a
- 51:32Speaker 1: black baiting suit with a striped neck tie, which I
- 51:37Speaker 1: suppose this is meant to kind of be part of
- 51:39Speaker 1: the manager thing, like the professional part. She's got what
- 51:46Speaker 1: looks like a Lucia door mask, and it like the
- 51:52Speaker 1: thing that's sort of weird that I couldn't put my
- 51:55Speaker 1: finger on at first that I began to realize, Oh,
- 51:57Speaker 1: that's why she looks so strange. I can't see ears
- 52:01Speaker 1: at all on her. I just see the mask and
- 52:05Speaker 1: then her like two blonde pigtails that stick out either
- 52:10Speaker 1: side of it, and the actual her ears. I'm like,
- 52:14Speaker 1: where are they? And she carries like what I can
- 52:21Speaker 1: only describe is like it's a vacuum and it looks
- 52:25Speaker 1: like she's carrying the uh what do you call it?
- 52:30Speaker 1: I can't remember the word I want here, guys, but
- 52:32Speaker 1: it's like one of those ones where you wear it
- 52:35Speaker 1: on your back so that you can walk around and
- 52:38Speaker 1: vacuum really easily with an extension rather than it being
- 52:42Speaker 1: one of those vacuums that you like push around along
- 52:44Speaker 1: the floor. And she like when she encounters the tuantata,
- 52:55Speaker 1: she winds up vacuuming all of them up into this tank.
- 53:03Speaker 1: And before she even gets down there really quickly that
- 53:07Speaker 1: Santanta is still looking for the princess inside the smile factory,
- 53:11Speaker 1: and there's this one particular old guy who is like
- 53:15Speaker 1: he takes his assignment to the princess's safety quite seriously,
- 53:21Speaker 1: and so he gets really agitated when he finds out
- 53:26Speaker 1: that the princess is not okay. Eventually, when they figure
- 53:30Speaker 1: out that she isn't even like on the premises, he
- 53:33Speaker 1: gets especially upset, and he like busts through one particular
- 53:44Speaker 1: area where there is a no trespassing sign or like
- 53:48Speaker 1: a do not enter sign. And it's so funny because
- 53:54Speaker 1: despite the fact that they're like in the midst of
- 53:56Speaker 1: an actual revolution, it, all of them are very like
- 54:02Speaker 1: respectability about the fact that he just broke the rules
- 54:05Speaker 1: and you're making us all look bad. So this like
- 54:13Speaker 1: this is where everybody is positioned. When she eventually like
- 54:16Speaker 1: comes downstairs and decides to handle shit herself and vacuum
- 54:21Speaker 1: them up. Yeah, I'm looking at this. Her hair, you guys,
- 54:26Speaker 1: is coming directly out of her temples like her pigtails.
- 54:32Speaker 1: It almost looks like she doesn't actually have any hair,
- 54:37Speaker 1: but that these are just sort of clipped on to
- 54:43Speaker 1: her luchador mask. It's so weird looking. So yeah, when
- 54:52Speaker 1: she comes out there, she knocks them all down and
- 54:54Speaker 1: then begins to vacuum them up. And the sound effect
- 54:57Speaker 1: that they use when she's vacuuming is actually quite funny.
- 55:00Speaker 1: But I do like the fact that she's got purple
- 55:03Speaker 1: lipstick on. I'll say that, so she and I have
- 55:06Speaker 1: a couple things in common between the tea party and
- 55:08Speaker 1: the purple lipstick. Now, all of this winds up reaching
- 55:15Speaker 1: a crescendo a little bit later because Frankie and Senor
- 55:23Speaker 1: Pink end up at the Smile Factory fighting. Now, it
- 55:28Speaker 1: takes a minute for them to get there, and there's
- 55:30Speaker 1: a whole thing that happens first, and I do want
- 55:32Speaker 1: to touch on what happens first because it is hilarious.
- 55:37Speaker 1: So Frankie has begun to get a sense of Senor
- 55:43Speaker 1: Pink throughout the fight, and they eventually reach a point
- 55:48Speaker 1: where Frankie decides that he is going to try and
- 55:50Speaker 1: lean into that a little bit, so he like kinda
- 55:56Speaker 1: whispers to Senor Pink when he's definitely at a disadvantage
- 56:02Speaker 1: and is like, hey, this probably isn't the sort of
- 56:08Speaker 1: thing that you would worry about, but I just thought
- 56:12Speaker 1: I would mention that earlier I saw an old woman
- 56:17Speaker 1: trying to cross the street and she was having a
- 56:20Speaker 1: lot of trouble. It's so good because, like, I really
- 56:25Speaker 1: wasn't sure what Frankie how he was gonna play this
- 56:27Speaker 1: at all. And then the way that they pace it normally,
- 56:31Speaker 1: when they slow things down so much in this show,
- 56:33Speaker 1: it's just annoying, but here they have it done so
- 56:38Speaker 1: that you really don't know for a moment if Senor
- 56:42Speaker 1: Pink is gonna go for it. That long pause serves
- 56:45Speaker 1: really well because it just feels for a second like
- 56:48Speaker 1: maybe he isn't falling for this actually, And then a
- 56:52Speaker 1: moment later, Senor Pink just says, you hate to see that,
- 56:57Speaker 1: and he says to his ladies, I'll right back. I
- 57:00Speaker 1: have some business to take care of and takes off,
- 57:04Speaker 1: and of course he winds up in this alley and
- 57:09Speaker 1: there's no old lady, and he realizes that he has
- 57:11Speaker 1: been bamboozled, which also very funny. I cannot you, guys,
- 57:21Speaker 1: Senior Pink is just really a gift that keeps on giving.
- 57:23Speaker 1: I keep expecting that something with him is going to
- 57:28Speaker 1: get tiresome or stop being funny. And they are really
- 57:34Speaker 1: managing to nail that thing where if you do something
- 57:36Speaker 1: over and over enough, then it turns around and becomes
- 57:40Speaker 1: funny again. So eventually, like he and Frankie, Frankie dodges
- 57:49Speaker 1: ahead of him and winds up inside the smile factory
- 57:52Speaker 1: and they get a they get to a point where
- 57:59Speaker 1: they're fighting together, but Queen is like interfering, and so
- 58:05Speaker 1: Frankie turns and kisses her, and it is so bizarre.
- 58:13Speaker 1: It turns into this whole thing where like she is going,
- 58:16Speaker 1: why would you do that? I didn't know you felt
- 58:19Speaker 1: that way. Meanwhile, Senor Pink is like, of course he
- 58:24Speaker 1: doesn't feel that way. It was just that you were
- 58:27Speaker 1: a yap and so goddamn much in the middle of
- 58:30Speaker 1: a fight between two men that he had to shut
- 58:33Speaker 1: you up, which, like, y'all, this is one step away
- 58:38Speaker 1: from something really really offensive. Years ago when I was
- 58:44Speaker 1: working at the bank here in Dennison. I waited on
- 58:49Speaker 1: a customer who had one of those graphic teas and
- 58:53Speaker 1: it was like those you know, those things that are
- 58:56Speaker 1: sort of stick figures like you see on signs for
- 58:59Speaker 1: the bathroom. And it was two panels, and the first
- 59:06Speaker 1: panel was a man figure just standing there and the
- 59:10Speaker 1: woman figure next to him. Her mouth is open and
- 59:13Speaker 1: there's like, you know, talk lines coming out of it,
- 59:17Speaker 1: and under that panel it said problem. And then the
- 59:21Speaker 1: next panel was that guy standing with his hand on
- 59:25Speaker 1: her head while she's on her knees in front of him,
- 59:27Speaker 1: clearly giving him a blowjob, and underneath that panel it
- 59:31Speaker 1: said solution. And it was just one of those like
- 59:37Speaker 1: moments of truly realizing that, like, some people out here
- 59:41Speaker 1: are living their life a different way, because the idea
- 59:44Speaker 1: of like walking around in public wearing a shirt with
- 59:48Speaker 1: that on it is absolutely fucking unhinged to me. Never
- 59:53Speaker 1: mind like walking into a bank, you know, but just
- 59:57Speaker 1: the overall like women talk to shut them up by
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: shoving your dick in their mouth is like the misogyny
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: is so incredibly profound with that, and while this is
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: not a dick, it's the same energy, and I hated
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: it and I hated it, and I hated it so much,
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: And it was such a bummer because, like I was
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: sort of mystified as to what we were doing, and
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: I was hoping that we were going to get another
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: weird explanation. Instead, what Senor Pink says was just kind
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: of like, oh, really, is that it? And then Frankie
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: like confirms that he is correct. Actually, I just I
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: wanted this to be something else, and I don't even
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: know what, Like I'm not thinking like, oh, let Frankie
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: fall in love with this random villain, Like I don't
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: like that, but it just felt gross. And to top
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: it off, it really seems like after this moment, she
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: continues to be kind of like infatuated with Frankie despite
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: that he said he did this just to shut her up.
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: It's like that doesn't fully register for her. And that
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: also was like a massive bummer to me, because there's
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: also an aspect of this that is only suggested and
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: it's not explicitly said. But I couldn't help take it
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: this way where it felt very much like a woman
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: who is fat anytime any man shows her any attention
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: of any kind, it's going to be like the first
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: time that she's ever received that attention, and she's just
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: going to be so grateful and excited. No matter what
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: you say. Your motivation for it was and because like
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: this is definitely a thing like when I have been
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: rather lucky in my experience in the dating world, I
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: have not dated that much. While fat, I had men
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: interested pretty much right away, and I didn't have to
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: deal with a lot of like sorting through garbage men.
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: But it's a huge thing with women who are fat
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: being basically told that they need to accept however they
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: are treated by whomever because they are fat. It means
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: that they have to accept the scraps because nobody who
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: would be a good man, who would treat them well
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: would want them, because those men want women who are
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: thin and look good, and you can't possibly look good.
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: So it was just a combo of like all of
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: this that just felt really ick to me. And like
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: I said, it's very possible that I'm just putting my
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: own sort of interpretation and baggage on it, but I
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: had to share the way that it felt to me
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: because I couldn't I couldn't enjoy this weird turn of events.
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: It made me a little sad because what's been going
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: on between Frankie and Senor Pink has been some of
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: my favorite stuff in the arc. And I just, you know,
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: it's just being like you wouldn't shut up and you
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: were getting involved in men's business. I was like, oh Jesus, okay,
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: these fucking like pretty much cope with that there. But
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: we have Lufy and Cavendish fighting against these weird toy
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: soldiers who it's like there are so many of these dudes,
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: and Lufy at one time he kicks them and the
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: one that he kicks, it's like his foot gets sort
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: of wedged in his chest and he can't get it
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: out again. And I don't feel like I've ever seen
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: that happen to Lufy. And I was like, are these
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: made of some other weird material? Is that why? So
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: I'm just making sure that I haven't skipped anything here.
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: I'm trying to get to the point where, oh, right, right, right,
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: I forgot about this. We have. First of all, Violet
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: uses her her ability to see things like with her
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: not telepathy but her clairvoyance. She is looking to see
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: whether the princess is in the castle and finds her
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: in this like weird little hidden room. And then also
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: there are some dudes on the roof that like when
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: Kinemon and oh my god, what is his friend's name?
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: I already forgot Conjuro. When they come over the side
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: on this bird, they get attacked at first and they
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: have to like make it clear like no, we're friends
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: and this guy is with me, And this is when
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: that poor bird fucking like collapses. Kinimon has made yet
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: another like bunch of ladders going up the side, and
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: oos Up is like yelling, are you sure like you
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: want me to go down? All those people are coming
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: here to get me. You've killed me, and Kandre just
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: like crumples up. I'm so sorry. My foolishness is peerless.
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: I did such a thing to my benefact or no less,
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: I shall commit harakiri and I love Kinemon, don't do it.
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: And he immediately turns around and just says, Okay, I
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: won't I do like this the idea that like maybe
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: every single time something goes wrong, he'll just threaten to
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: kill himself and then just be like, psych, it's fine,
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: I'm not that upset. I did think that this was
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: kind of funny, so and of course, Usap who's looking
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: over the side and seeing them like coming up for him.
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: He is really feeling a way about this. One of
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: them says something like why does this net suck so bad?
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: And I was sort of wondering, is it possible for
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: him to undo this net? Like if because like the
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: way he paints it, I'm like, could you just pour
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: water over and melt the ink? Would that do the job?
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: I don't know, but anyway, Yeah, So the third of
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: these episodes is the one that ends with the princess
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: who has been kept in this this cell. She's being
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: brought just like a loaf of bread. Her hair is crazy,
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: by the way, it's like very sailor moon kind of
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: falling all the way down to her ankles. And at
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: one point Oosup had said something about how like the
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: Tantata had not talked about her very favorably and said
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: that she was like kind of a bad person with like, ah,
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: like a mean streak. And I'm really curious whether or
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: not it's gonna be that she is terrible and like
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: saving her sucks, or if it's gonna be that being
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: in prison has made her like a kinder, better person.
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: You know, I'm interested to see what direction that goes in.
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: So all right, I'm gonna wrap this up, but thank
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: you guys again for hanging out with me. I appreciate
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: you all a lot. Thank you Sarah I'm for hanging out,
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: and Florine for commissioning this one. And until next time
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: to the loom motherfuckers. That was an Unspoiled Network podcast.
