- 0:03Happy Sunday morning everybody. Saint Louis is so excited.
- 0:10Looks like we got some snow moving in Tuesday night.
- 0:14Going to rain all day Tuesday, but snow going to move in.
- 0:17Crowd going to be on their feet. Everybody going to be buying
- 0:20bread and milk just as a child. The pure excitement of Snow
- 0:26shutting down the town, creating chaos is so damn exciting.
- 0:33There I said what everybody wants to say.
- 0:37So been on social media for about 5 minutes this morning and
- 0:45somebody said to me the $3000 that you won for that
- 0:49championship won't pay expenses for anything.
- 0:54It needs another zero on it and I agree.
- 0:58So last night we won the Missouri Illinois Regional
- 1:01Championship, paid $3000 to win, but I got to be honest with you
- 1:06for local race and that's big money.
- 1:09It's true. Then we finished 13th in
- 1:14America, which is like 2000 cars or more and that paid 900.
- 1:19So now we're at 3900. Add with me here.
- 1:24Then we finished 8th in the summer Nationals which was
- 1:29another 700, so it was $4600 last night.
- 1:37Now tires are like 18185 for the modified, so that's about that's
- 1:44about what 20 something tires to start the new year out.
- 1:49So I'm going to, I'm going to take that $4600, I'm going to be
- 1:53able to buy 25 tires, whatever that's going.
- 1:56That's got a lot of tires. All right, So the subject at
- 2:02hand, people are always amazed by how very little racing pays.
- 2:10Now here's the disclaimer in all racing, in all racing, even
- 2:17NASCAR, a lot of it 99.5% of it. Nobody can make enough money to
- 2:25pay the expenses. That's why sponsors are
- 2:29everything. You see it, You see it
- 2:32everywhere. I was listening to our local
- 2:37radio station throughout 2023, KMOX.
- 2:43If the baseball Cardinals or your baseball Cardinals or
- 2:46football team NFL if you were to pay the players by what comes
- 2:54through the gate. In other words, the crowd, the
- 2:59the money that you pay. That wouldn't even be nowhere
- 3:02near enough to pay the salary of your athletes, because it's not
- 3:08enough people. Although you sell out all 889
- 3:13games at your stadium for your football team, those people,
- 3:17that's nowhere near enough. So you got to get money from TV
- 3:21revenue, people in the grandstands, all those sponsors.
- 3:25So it's the same way in racing, in NASCAR.
- 3:30Let's say you go to Daytona, It's a minimum.
- 3:34If you go to the Daytona 500, it's a minimum of $300,000.
- 3:40Just to get there. You ask why?
- 3:42Well, you got a brand new car. You got a brand new motor, you
- 3:46got the salary, you got the hotel rooms, you got the per
- 3:50diem, you got the insurance, you got everything it takes to run a
- 3:54business. Same thing with local racing.
- 3:58I always say for me when I prorate it, it's $1000 for me to
- 4:05take my truck and trailer, start up and go down the hill.
- 4:09That's prorating. Now I'm businessman.
- 4:14Hey, as Steven Wallace said when he was a kid, he got, he put a
- 4:17suit on, he had a tie on his dad looked at him, Steven looked at
- 4:21his dad and goes, I'm a businessman dad.
- 4:25So as crazy as I am, the herm rater can count money better
- 4:30than anybody. I run my own checkbook.
- 4:33I got, I got a good system. So even if you're a local racer
- 4:39and you're the guy that pulls in because you're running 14th and
- 4:42you don't want to ruin that right rear tire, you want to
- 4:45save that right rear tire for the next week, you're still
- 4:48going to lose money. Now you might go, you might be,
- 4:52you might be doing $25 here, $25 there, but you're going to be
- 4:57spending more than that at Texas Roadhouse for dinner.
- 5:02So we can split hairs all you want, but anybody that races,
- 5:07anything, he's going to lose money if here's the big if you
- 5:12don't have sponsorship. So I figured I'd take this time
- 5:16to explain it all to you. Nobody makes money unless we
- 5:23have sponsorship. OK?
- 5:25Now, when you run the big races that pay 100,000 to win, you
- 5:31know, $1,000,000 to win, you know, maybe maybe the top three
- 5:36are going to, maybe they're going to cover expenses.
- 5:39OK, so drop your comments right here.
- 5:43Tell me how I'm wrong, Which I got to warn you, I'm not wrong.
- 5:48I'm right because I'm going to show you something.
- 5:52See that office right there, Right there?
- 5:55That's my office. That should be a bedroom, But I
- 6:00turned it into my office. That's where we do the Kenny
- 6:02Wallace Show. I operate my own checkbook, pay
- 6:06my own bills. So I know you're going to be
- 6:08wrong, so don't battle me, OK? You would be shocked the
- 6:13expenses it takes to go racing you.
- 6:17We win $700.00 down here every Saturday night.
- 6:22You might you might load your car up and go down and and say I
- 6:26made money. No, you made money that night.
- 6:30You didn't make money. You made money that night but
- 6:34you still put on some tires, you still paid for the pit pass.
- 6:39You still put the gas in the vehicle and and that gas is $10
- 6:44a gallon. So when you win a $700.00, win
- 6:49local race and you say hey we we covered the expenses maybe
- 6:53second place lost money. Sponsorship is everything.
- 6:57That's why I'm that's why I'm thankful to Jags and Southern
- 7:01Country Custom Priority Aviation, Crow equipment low
- 7:05voltage solution, Pit stop Motorsports.
- 7:12Trevor Atwell. Atwell Exterior Services came
- 7:17out ready mix. I got so many great sponsors.
- 7:21So all right, hope I explained that to everybody.
- 7:24Drop your comments right here. We're at 7 minutes, 27 seconds.
- 7:28We're going to go ahead and get it to 8 minutes because that's
- 7:32that's the minute you want for YouTube.
- 7:34So now I've decided to turn this into a YouTube show.
- 7:38But anyway, drop your comments right here.
- 7:41Tell me how. I don't know how to add.
- 7:45We had a really good time last night at the banquet.
- 7:47Did not drink one beer. Did not drink one beer.
- 7:51Thank you so much to Dirt Carr for having good iced tea on
- 7:54hand. All right, everybody.
- 7:56I hope you get some snow. Hope your kids are off school.
- 7:59Hope you got to buy bread and milk.
- 8:01All right. Happy Sunday, everyone.
