- speaker-0: I'm Sheridan. Welcome to the Sheridan Show. Excited to have y'all here. We are live in Charlotte. I'm so excited to meet some of my very best friends. We're gonna have so much fun conversation. if you are not familiar with the Sheridan show, which most of y'all probably aren't because it's a series premiere, I'm Sheridan LeBay. I wanted to launch this show. I love talking to people, learning about people, discussing ideas, debating ideas. All the things, learning, just like sharing information and vice versa. And so I created the Sheridan shop. And so I'm here to my friends who will introduce themselves. speaker-1: Hi, I'm Brittany. Hi, I'm Alexis. speaker-0: And I'm Stevie. And this is the girls' room. But yeah, no, we're excited to get started. we're gonna jump our inks. I know we're like a little bit behind schedule, but y'all will be okay because I'm sure y'all are in the bed, scrolling TikTok or whatever. Anyways, so cool. So, how the episodes will work is we will start with a segment called What's the T. And so we'll talk about a few like current events going on in the world. Some stuff may be serious, some stuff may not be. It's literally whatever we want to talk about. And then we'll talk about our latest side quest of the week and just kind of share what we've been doing, getting into, and then we're gonna kind of have a twist on like doing guest interviews because obviously there's four of us and that would take forever. And so we're gonna draw questions out of a hat and then either we won't answer the question or we get to pick one person to answer the question. And then we'll end with a little untamed segment. If you know, you know. And then you may get a little homework, you may get a little takeaway, something to just walk away from this episode with. So Yeah, we're gonna jump right into it. My lovely cue cards. So what's the tea? A few things to talk about. So one, no shade to anybody watching this episode. speaker-1: but speaker-0: Y'all, if I see one more, what would I look like in the AI picture? speaker-1: my god. Yeah. Yeah. speaker-0: It's a wind breaker. That's what y'all look like. It's a wind breaker. It's a wind breaker. Or big hair. Or big hair. We are wasting so much water. And people are literally like, people are dying, Kim, literally, like to literally see what you would look like. Like, look at your parents' pictures. You know somebody in your family that was born in the 80s that looks like you. And so, first topic, just kind of want to talk about like, do we feel like how do we feel about AI in general? Because we all we met at works, we all have a marketing background, we all use AI probably every day. But just how do we feel about it? And how do we feel about the long-term effects of like AI, the data centers? Water, all the things. speaker-1: First of I just think the eighties thing, I just think it's dumb. Certainly bad. speaker-0: That's your original point. Do speaker-1: I think it's dumb. speaker-0: you ask me that's well? speaker-1: But I think that goes into my stance on AI personally is like I think it's a speaker-0: Great. speaker-1: tool. I don't know if I should look at you or the camera. speaker-0: Anyway, I think it's a great law. speaker-1: but I just think that people need to use their powers for good. Like I have fallen victim to just like using AI for things that I could have I could do myself. And I try to just be like, okay, I don't really know too much about the water issue or like how much it actually impacts. Like I haven't found like concrete evidence that like actually speaker-0: This speaker-1: I haven't found anything that supports it, but I haven't found anything that disputes it either. So I just try to be mindful in how I use it and make sure I'm not using it to put myself in a windbreaker. That's my my opinion. speaker-0: You probably have a picture of yourself in a windbreaker as a kid. Like most of us were born 80s, 90s. You had a windbreaker as a child. I still have some of my windbreakers. So like you could just put it on and take a picture. Isn't that true? So speaker-1: Let us say if you can fit it. speaker-0: No, we're gonna okay. I was I just know what I'm supposed to do. I have to use it or I'm gonna lose my job. And they're buying licenses for each one. Like, why do we have a license for every AI? Like, even regardless if people are using it for windbreakers or work, we're still using it. We're still using it. Windbreakers or so like even though we're using it responsibly. It's still being used. But what do you want me to do? Everyone wants me to use it. That's fair. That's speaker-1: Yeah. speaker-0: true. It's like when they came out with the calculator, like why would I continue to do math by my hands? Could you imagine people being up in arms when the calculator came out? They're probably Somebody probably was. You made a good point too. Like I am a conspiracy theorist. However, I actually have not found anything to like prove without a shadow of a doubt of like the contamination of like the whole water situation that comes up. I do believe there's truth. It's just unfortunate. 'Cause it's too soon. Why also like the effects haven't like actually taken effect yet? Because that's what it's speaker-1: is it are but then how is it already being talked about if there if the impacts aren't speaker-0: Well it's like global warming. Like it hasn't necessarily like it's happening. Like we're still watching the speaker-1: And like when you think about global warming, like it it was it's been hotter in the last like decades. speaker-0: That's true. I don't know. And so new. But there are different smaller towns and counties who still don't have like clean drinking water. speaker-1: Sure. Now they are stealing land for these data centers. Which I don't am not a fan of. The impacts to like the water specifically, I don't know. But like they are it's a whole thing. But like there's a footage at all? Is there footage of like, you know, actual water like being there previously and then not being there right now? Well, I think the issue is like the amount of water speaker-0: Like bubbles of water. speaker-1: basically it's like the data centers that they are in. are like so hot because of all of the like people that are putting in like all these questions and whatever. Like it just requires so much to like cool yeah them down. And so I guess it requires I guess they cool them down with water to make sure that the servers don't overheat. So it's like that's the issue I think. Yeah. From what I understand. But I haven't looked deep speaker-0: Mm lessons. speaker-1: into it to know the water speaker-0: Specifically. Next on the tea agenda, have y'all listened to Janae Aiko's West Side Wednesday? speaker-1: Have I have a speaker-0: You have thoughts. speaker-1: the second time around I do. Okay. Because I got some, you know, some guidance the first time around. So I went back and listened to it. And speaker-0: And speaker-1: it it's I haven't heard a classic yet. And I feel like on every album she has at least one or two classic classics and I haven't heard a classic yet. Maybe that's not maybe I need to like listen to. speaker-0: Yeah. No, I can agree. speaker-1: Yeah, but I just haven't heard a classic. And I feel like any album any album or any single that she's come out with, she's always had something that like you hear five years later and you're like I just have to get speaker-0: Well when you're angry, sometimes it's music, speaker-1: Is that like the best speaker-0: yeah. Fuck the classic. Well, and then speaking speaker-1: Yeah. speaker-0: of like talking shit, then she's like on thread. I've never seen an artist, and this is not shade to Janae. Lie that speaker-1: Did you say live? speaker-0: we're getting out. wow. So she's been on threads literally, like anytime somebody posts anything about the album and they're this is about Big Sean or this and so she's commenting directly like on people's threads. No, that wasn't about him. No, this and I'm like, girl, who is it about? That was the last person you've been with for what? Ten years? Don't guess. Twelve years. That's what's happening. Maybe she's saying no because she doesn't want like a defamation lawsuit. But this speaker-1: Also it's just like would it be better to just speaker-0: is the same man that made I don't fuck with you. If he really has a nerve to sue her over her calling him a bitch, he is. And I really she's she's called him a before. Literally. Has she? speaker-1: In the other song she said, Get your bitch ass off my phone and I relate to that. speaker-0: It's a heavily 'cause on speaker-1: Triggered. speaker-0: Yeah. Yes. It'll be interesting. I've just never seen an artist like comment so much on people's opinions. Directly. Maybe like Kanye, which is saying a lot. But I wouldn't lie. So you would be yeah, that's about the distract. Yes. You just would not respond. speaker-1: Like speaker-0: It's like, yeah, it's a diss track. She's been like, she's if you go through her like replies on threads and just look, it's like any by anything that anybody has had to say about her in the last week, she's commented on that. speaker-1: Mm. speaker-0: She has a lot of time on her. I am loving this whole like Larry June relationship. Yeah. Even though like I don't know if it's like confirmed. But I like that was her lick back. Yeah. speaker-1: I'm curious know how it goes though. I just feel like he's I don't know, he might be a little bit more I don't know. I don't know these people. So I mean I know who they are, but you know it's like I don't know. speaker-0: I mean I think he gives off a more mature vibe than Big Sean. And I love Big Sean as an artist. I speaker-1: Yeah, I do like Victoria's artist. speaker-0: love Blair June as artists. I like Big Sean as well as speaker-1: artist however he Little and I think sometimes that speaker-0: I think that leads speaker-1: I think that has implications. speaker-0: This should be considered. Larry Jules not that big either. speaker-1: No, that's not the point she's making. speaker-0: I'm just saying. speaker-1: I just I think like I understood. Like if they are if her songs are about him, I I I speaker-0: If y'all have thoughts in the comments, y'all should definitely praise it. Because I'm sure people feel strongly either way. Do you see any comments coming in? Can you see people's comments on that? Yeah. No comments. Yeah, no comments in the low hate. hi. How's it going? Hi friends. Well, be sure to subscribe if you're watching. Okay. Next thing I want to see before we move along. I had pictures to show, but obviously we've switched gears on our production. So imagine in your mind. So essentially there's been a lot of just like things happening with corporations doing borderline racist things. Like the whole Target. I don't know if y'all saw the Target Halloween costume and it looked like the menstrual from the circus, like the the clown looking character. That's what they call it, the minstrel show? Like mint like speaker-1: Like all of the black fake shows that they used to speaker-0: Yeah, like men troll like I speaker-2: ROLL speaker-0: N No, no, not not that one either. No. Not speaker-1: No. speaker-0: men's troll either. my god. No, speaker-1: I mean but that is the speaker-0: it's like I N S T something. I know what she's saying now when she's at first she thought like I saw her face. I was trying to I'm trying to tell Patrick. I'm in here now. speaker-1: But I mean that makes sense. speaker-0: Like that happened. I don't know if y'all saw Miel had like this campaign that went out a couple of weeks ago. And like one side it was like a girl. I did see that. And one side of her hair was like a af like a picked out afro. no. And the other side was like define defined hair coils. I can't think what I'm trying to Like curls. Yes. And they said on the left side it was like dull and thin or something. Yeah. And on the right side it was like healthy and beautiful. And people ripped them a new way. When her hair still looks good, like literally. Literally. It was like how your hair looks when you like blow it out before you get braided. Like in a speaker-1: I mean it was a little dull, but it was not speaker-0: It wasn't like there was a let's see if that was the word. speaker-1: Like a why was that something alarming? I think because people were saying that it was speaker-0: They were like judging her texture, her neutral texture, but and saying that like it being in a more like this was not the comparison, but like saying like a it was essentially like if it was like a four C here versus like a four A here. We're like showing that the more defined curlier texture was better. Can you see it? speaker-1: Okay. Yeah. Okay. speaker-0: You have differing opinions. speaker-1: I mean they're selling a product. I don't think I mean like you have to kind of give the I I I get the parameter of it. I mean or the like I get the gist of how it could be perceived, but at the same time, like dull and thin and then you're promoting a product that's gonna be full and healthy. It's kinda like speaker-0: I just think like if the product is about speaker-1: White women. I mean like white women in other products as well. You know what I'm saying? Do the same thing where their hair like frizzy and then they use the patine like patine? speaker-0: Yeah, that's fair. Yeah. sorry, go ahead. speaker-1: I don't I think particular speaker-0: I won't say just to Brittany's while I like you do see other like races do it with their hair product for marketing. I just like because it's already like texture is such a sensitive subject in our community. It's like anything you say that could potentially be like divisive or like derogatory is not the word, but like divisive, I guess you would say, or texturist, if that's the word. I probably is. I feel like people are gonna take it in like it speaker-1: Yeah, no, I'm speaker-0: needed to be before and after. Yeah, it should have to be before. speaker-1: That would have been a way simplify it. I think also people 'cause Miel I think because sh it's a black owned brand, I she's sold, but I think people hold that brand, not saying I do, but I think consumers hold them to like a higher standard or like expect more. Yeah. But I think in general, like I think people overestimate how much marketers really think about this. Like speaker-0: Thanks because I'm a girl. speaker-1: And so many things that have like could have accidentally gone out that like I don't have like we might be offensive to like a group of people. Like I can always speak on behalf of like the black community, but like someone from the Indian community might find something offensive that I don't I don't speaker-0: And that has happened before at work, actually. Yeah. Yeah. I feel like that's definitely happened before. And then people have gone back to like a previous campaign years later, because like something changed and they're like, Well, now we can't say this. Or like Yeah. speaker-1: Not to go off tangent, but it's almost it's not tangent, but it's like that's also why DEI was so important. Not necessarily about giving dollars to like minorities, but having minority in the room. And having multiple points of view. Yeah, multiple points of view in the room was beneficial because now you're speaking to everyone versus a select few. speaker-0: I agree. Yeah. We're seeing the triple effects of the but Target has stopped playing. I feel like there's just a common theme of like certain companies just seem like they're just not even thinking. Like Tar like okay, Miel, word choice, okay. Target is like, why do you have a black kid in a clown suit? Yeah. That was an easy one to like blackface. Yeah. In July. We started speaker-1: For sure. It's like speaker-0: early with you wanted to fight. speaker-1: But I also think that it's because like to the point about DEI, it's like also making sure that you have people multi like diverse perspectives in leadership. Because think like if you have someone like an intern or someone that's like a associate manager, they're not really in a position, even if they see that, they're not really in a position to like push back or say something or whatever because like they're just starting out in their career. So it really goes back to having like leadership and people that are actually decision makers. Yeah. Or else this stuff's gonna keep happening. speaker-0: Fair. Yeah. speaker-1: Which is why it keeps happening. Yeah, this is speaker-0: So hire us. That's basically what we're saying. speaker-1: Bring it. speaker-0: Okay. Well, let us know how y'all think in the comments. But we're gonna move on to our next segment, which is side quests of the week or the month, or if you did something today, you know, feel free to share. But essentially, you know, if you know me, I love a good side quest. I'm always doing something that you don't expect, whatever that may be. And so I think it's just interesting because sometimes you hear people do side quests and you're like, I would have never thought to like Go on a solo trip or get a tattoo or go roller skating on a Wednesday or whatever. So what's I'll share mine last, but what's y'all's latest side quests? I went to a calligraphy class. It's like one of like the calligraphy pins and you like learn how to write. That's cute. speaker-1: That's great. Did you enjoy it? speaker-0: I did. It was fun. Is it I feel like I don't write anymore. No, we don't write. So it's fun. Yeah. No, she does multiple show hop, one like Halloween where you can like Decorate a pumpkin for like Christmas. She does like cards and ornaments. So I'll probably go back. That's fun. speaker-1: Yeah, very cute. I'm thinking. I had started drying out seeds because they're gonna plant a lemon tree. I wanna speaker-0: yeah. speaker-1: actually like know the like process of like planting because I feel like it'll help with also patience. See how speaker-0: I was gonna ask you how long you'd say. speaker-1: long a lot from fruit I know. So from seed to fruit is like two and a half, three years. Yeah, exactly. speaker-0: I don't know if I had that much patients. speaker-1: Let me physical value. I mean speaker-0: Let me know when they're ready. Right. Let me know when they're ready. speaker-1: It's not more so about the fruit, I just wanted to like know the process. Yeah. speaker-0: that's admirable. Yeah. That's a good lesson. There's a lesson in there. It is a lesson in there. Yeah. speaker-1: There are a lot of lessons. Yeah. Yeah. Even like drying not to get like too far. speaker-0: But speaker-1: Well, you have to dry the seeds. So like before you even plant them, you have to completely dry the seed out. And a part of that is so that when it goes in I'm for any green thumbs, I'm totally new to this. So if I'm saying something wrong, but you essentially when you put it into the ground, it it's essentially makes it grow take faster, not take faster, but take speaker-0: Like to Germany again? speaker-1: So it takes a while. Like you have to water it with make speaker-0: Yeah. speaker-1: sure it's in good soil and it's like months before you see anything. So right now I'm just drying the seed. Which doesn't take long but I speaker-0: Rhyme is meet they're just like a word in there. speaker-1: It's gonna come. speaker-0: It is that'll be off comprehensive time. So dry the seat. speaker-1: I don't my side quest is like not a side quest, but I think I typically do a lot of side quests, but I have been exploring what it's like to not go out to eat every night. speaker-0: Revolutionary right. I have not I have not gone out. Like I've been cooking at home. It hasn't been great. These are some interesting side questions. speaker-1: who does not someone who goes out to eat quite often. This is a revolutionary concept. speaker-0: It's like a reverse side quiz. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Exactly speaker-1: That's exactly. speaker-0: what it is. It's a quest inward. speaker-1: Yeah. I had coffee at home every day for like four hours. That's big. speaker-0: it's very huge, really. Big work for Elm. Haven't been out to eat. speaker-1: You know. I've been cooking. Mm. Wow. Yeah. I feel very cool. speaker-0: I'll get there one day. Okay, my side quest. I don't know, I feel like I want to find one that's in in the group with which one were you going to Well my side quest was gonna be me going to California for two months in Western. it's a hammer? No. okay. speaker-1: No. Well you said all of the above, but speaker-0: okay. Well, my side quest was me going to live in Cali for almost two months. I really wanted to stay. I should have just stayed. Yeah. I mean, I'm happy to see y'all, but thanks. Yeah. Happy to see you all. but yeah, it was a lot of fun. I've always wanted to live out there. So was nice to just like go live as a local and like, you know, not go out to eat and like, I'm cooking dinner in another state. So it was fun. I met a lot of cool people and got to do a lot of things. So Yeah, lovely. More to come for that later. Okay. Also, if you're still watching, if you're there, you should definitely put your side quests in the comments. Whatever you have going on. Anyone have any fun side quests of the week of the month? people say in the comment now some of y'all saying some stuff y'all about to get blocked somebody said damn y'all about to get freaky now I think it's a stranger speaker-1: What are we talking about? speaker-0: this is the share this is not please please I would say whose permission to eat my Carisha please I can't this is a share This is the proposal. Please, you will get blocked. Correct. That was not appropriate. And this is why we needed to monitor the comments. Right. God forbid I didn't see that moderator. Okay, well, moving on, we're gonna go into our block. yeah, we're gonna block you. Wherever that was. Well that was a check. Yeah. Go somewhere else for that. Okay, so we're gonna go into our next segment, which is like friends who know you best. So basically, I have a bowl of like 20 questions. It's really a hat, but I have a hat of 20 questions. And so it's a variety of things relationships, dating, jobs, whatever, just stuff in general. Y'all seem to have a click. speaker-1: That's who it is. Somebody put a paragraph? speaker-0: where is it? Yeah, they're saying that their current side quest is health wellness. okay. I love that for you. Right. Maya, she's training for her 5K. Okay, 5K. Does she want to exceed past her time? Period. Period. speaker-1: And you're gonna do it. You are. speaker-0: We want that for you. We believe that for you. love that. Yeah, please keep putting your side quests in and we'll read them as they come in. But yeah, we're gonna do questions. So it's like 20 questions in a hat. So we pull a question, you can decide to answer the question, or you can pick who you want to answer the question. Okay. Yeah. So you know, fair enough. Right? speaker-1: Yeah. speaker-0: And you can pick how forever you want. You know, you may read it and be like, I feel like so and so would like really have a good answer to this. god. Well, don't do it. Don't be nice. Y'all want me to go first? speaker-1: Yeah. It's your show. speaker-0: Yes. Okay. so should I read the question and then decide if I'm gonna answer it or Yes. Yes. speaker-1: B. speaker-3: Thank speaker-0: Okay. What's something you've done for love that you would never do again? I don't know if I want to answer the question or I am gonna pass the question. I don't know who I'm gonna pass the question to. I'm gonna pass the question to Alexa. speaker-1: Mm. What have I done for love? speaker-0: That she would never do again. what have I done? What have I done? Crazy. She's so serious. speaker-1: Very serious. speaker-0: this couch is speaker-1: I feel speaker-0: Yeah. speaker-1: like I've given people the like people that I know would not were not compatible for me. I've given them the benefit of the doubt and like given them a chance. And I would not do that again. I did that when I was younger, but I don't really it It's speaker-0: It's a good answer. Yeah. speaker-1: not really for me. Yeah. speaker-0: Put it in the burn book. There you go. speaker-1: Ooh, let me pick multiple speaker-0: Taking them. speaker-1: questions. Okay. The he that's upside down. What's a financial decision you've made that you would never make again? Mm-hmm. speaker-2: I speaker-1: like I d n I don't make the best financial decisions all the time, but like the money comes back. So I haven't I don't know. I'd just be like I mean it's gonna come back, so maybe that's not the best thing. speaker-0: That's my answer. The money always comes back. The money always speaker-1: Always comes back. speaker-0: if you're a financial advisor, just close for ears. Yeah. speaker-1: mmm speaker-0: Yeah, speaker-1: well. speaker-0: the way she cleaned her throat got me nervous. She's quiet. speaker-1: Right. okay. What's something you used to judge other women for that you completely understand now? speaker-0: That you completely understand. speaker-1: That's what I'm saying. I still believe. I don't know. speaker-0: You could pass the question. speaker-1: Yeah. pass it like to someone. speaker-0: Yeah, so you when you pick up glitching. We're just all living very different lives. But that's the whole point the show. But I'm like that I wouldn't judge them for anymore. Yeah, it's a hard one. That's speaker-1: In the chat. speaker-0: a I was trying to think of one. Couldn't be me. speaker-1: I don't think I'm judgmental, but I think like I just like speaker-0: Yeah, like I'm not going to tell you. I'm gonna let you do you, but I'm gonna think it. speaker-1: If you ask me, I'll tell you. speaker-0: I don't know if I've ever judged women for this, but I don't think I had a strong opinion about this at one point in time. But I feel like there's a lot of discourse now online where single mothers are actually sending their children to live with their dads. And I feel like at one point in time I probably would have been like, Why are you doing that? But now I'm like, I get it. Like send a child to live with his daddy. Yeah. No, if I had to do Yeah. It's like before I probably would be like, hmm, but now I'm like, speaker-1: So before you affiliate why she sent speaker-0: I think I would have more questions around like why would a mom not want to like be the full time. I think that is speaker-1: But I think how like people mom to this like unrealistic standard of like you have to be super mom. And if you're not like here, then you're not a good mom. Whereas like your dad can be like just okay dad. speaker-0: Yeah, if I had to pick something, I feel like that would be it. Cause now I'm like, yeah, you should send your child to go live with his dad full time. That brings you back to secure when Lawrence was living his best life in San Francisco. Yes, and that's the reality for a lot of struggling. I won't go there, but that's the reality for a lot of female people. I think people should should live with their dads. I agree. At least for a year. And then you can say you didn't see. What's something you've done that sounds crazy until you explain the whole story? Well tell us about it. Out of like maybe we've got away. Yeah, I've had to Alexis. great. speaker-1: one specific answer. I feel like that's my whole life. It just sounds crazy. And then I explain and people are like, maybe she's not as deranged as she sounds. speaker-0: That was speaker-1: Very general. I don't have a speaker-0: specific I our PR training is speaker-1: He is very much kicking in. speaker-0: Hmm, that's an interesting question. speaker-1: What was it again? Say it again. speaker-0: What's something you've done that sound crazy until you explain the whole story? Silence is deafening. Okay, I'm gonna pick a lot of questions. Should I pick one? Yeah, yeah, you pick one up. speaker-1: Handy. speaker-0: I can't think of anything that I feel like speaker-1: Sounds great, yeah. Did you come up with this question? speaker-0: What's something about adulthood that you think we've all been told to lie about? what do you want to be when you grow up? Stop asking people money. I don't I don't wanna work. speaker-1: Yeah. speaker-0: Like what about what do you like to do? Not like what do you do? speaker-1: Yeah. speaker-0: Yeah. Like what should I do? Yeah, like they ask you from a young age. Like it's like so fun. It's not. So yeah, stop asking kids that. Yeah. Kids. I don't know I thought you were about to pull another question. no, that's my second one. Okay, let's see. Well, I guess I can answer a question next to my bullet. let's see. what's a career decision that you've made that other people probably wouldn't understand? Like I few good answers. Great question. You to tell us why? I don't know. well I feel like with my current career, I ended up like making a move to a similar company. And at the time, I don't think that like people understood why I was making a move or if it was gonna be a good move, but like I feel like I made a good move before she hit the fan. And so I'm glad I made that move. Yeah. I'm like, what's another one? another one would be probably just moving to Charlotte for work. Like I moved to Charlotte four years ago. And I feel like most people understood. But you know, sometimes you tell people like, I'm moving here, and people are like, Why are you moving there? Like, what's in Charlotte? So I feel like there was people who were like, I understand, and there are people that were like, Why are you moving to Charlotte? And they didn't understand. But now four years later, it's like one of the best decisions I've ever made. speaker-1: Yeah. Yeah. I don't know if this is true or not, but I don't know if like in the last maybe like five, six years, moving somewhere for a job has become a little bit more like the thing the thing to do. Not that people didn't do it before, but I just feel like it's become and I don't know if like remote is a part of that or it's like made it more like people just moving for a job. speaker-0: I think it's because people have kids. speaker-1: You said people don't have speaker-0: Yeah, like there's like not families anymore for real. So people like it's for real. People have less ties. speaker-1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. speaker-0: I think it's exposure too. Like I feel like our generation, because of like social media and things, you just see people having those opportunities to move across the country versus like I feel like in our parents' era it was kind of like, ooh, so and so is moving across like it was just like a big deal. Versus now it's like I mean, all of our friends live in different states. You know, like everybody's like spread out. It's just the norm. People are purposely like finding jobs in other cities to like get to that city. Yeah. Yeah. It's probably social. The horse and carriage. The yellow faces. speaker-1: Yeah. 'Cause yeah, well no, but like you have to like stages to like find a speaker-0: Like there was no internet. Okay, I'm gonna pull another question. Let's see. speaker-3: Mm-mm-mm. speaker-0: this is a good one. I said I didn't write all the questions. can you and you ask me, I wrote them along with the support of Chat J. Can you be genuinely happy for a friend when she gets something you desperately want for yourself? Absolutely. Yeah, for sure. Absolutely. I think for me, it's like it almost one, I'm just genuinely happy, but two, it's like, I don't know, when you see other people being able to accomplish something that you want, it's like it makes it even more real. Absolutely. Especially for big things like If one of my friends got my dream car, I'd be like, damn. Like it would just make it more like Yeah, speaker-1: Retainable. speaker-0: like attainable 'cause like it's in your sphere of like reality, you know. speaker-1: Yeah. And I think like just because somebody has something doesn't mean it's not coming for you. Like there's enough speaker-0: There's another speaker-1: stuff that you can have it as well. A lot of people forget that. Yeah. They forget that a lot of people don't know how to do that. Like a lot of people don't know how to like pause themselves for you know for the sake of somebody else. And that's like really you have to be able to do that in order to like be happy for somebody's win. Because that means because it's not you're gonna naturally have a feeling, right? It doesn't mean that you're not gonna be happy for them. Yeah. But there's gonna be a natural sense of like let's say not necessarily a car, but let's say marriage or job or whatever. You get what I'm saying? Like there's gonna be a feeling of like, man, I want that too. You get what I'm saying? But it's not I can pause that. Like separate buckets. It's absolutely yeah. speaker-0: 'Cause also like if you choose to go the route of not being happy, that's not changing the fact that your friend got whatever it is. So it's like you're not all you're doing is just making shit work for works for speaker-1: Yourself. It just seems like a stressful way to live too. Because people are always like everybody's on different timelines and different paths. Like people are always gonna be getting stuff that you might not be getting. But then on the flip side, like there might be times where you have something and your friend didn't get what they want. Like it just speaker-2: You never know. speaker-0: Cycle like. speaker-1: And it's also like a negative block. Yeah. Like you, like you being mad about something, that's like a negative block within your energy. Yeah, it's just like you're literally blocking other things from coming to you because you're mad or jealous or whatever the case may be. You know, that negative block is like it's powerful. Yeah, it is powerful. speaker-0: And it's like scarcity mindset too. Yeah. I guess like if you feel that way, you feel like, my god, there's not enough to go around. And it's like there's plenty of dream cars and husbands and jobs and houses and whatever else. Like there's no lacking of blessings. speaker-1: Yeah. It's a lack of discipline, but it's it's it's definitely speaker-0: Take one down, pass it around. speaker-1: that's nine on nine bottles. Okay. What's something the person you chose doesn't give herself enough credit for? Well, I didn't choose a person. I guess I'm supposed to choose a person. read the question. It says what is something the person you chose doesn't give herself enough credit for? So speaker-0: They could also be yourself. speaker-1: I don't know, I think I give myself too much credit sometimes. speaker-0: You can never give yourself too much credit for going off of your speaker-1: your last point, Brittany, I would say you pause things very well. Like just in different situations we've talked about over years. I feel like you were very good at like knowing, even if you're like feeling something, you're very good at being like, okay, I need to like put this feeling on pause and how I'm feeling so that I can like show up. And not all the time, like not to the point of like self sacrifice or anything. Yeah. But I feel like you just are able to show up for the people in your life when you need to. Because you know, like I don't know. It matters. I feel like you understand what I'm saying. Yeah, I do. Yes. You're picking up what I'm putting down. Yeah, yeah. speaker-0: No, it's a good one. Yeah. speaker-1: Thank you. speaker-0: You gotta give your friends your flowers. Yes. We got some comments too. speaker-1: Ooh. speaker-0: let's see. Well, somebody said don't pass. I don't know what question that was about. That probably was earlier. a current URC, current side quest. Settle a sacrifice. God's timing is different for everyone. Yes, so their success would push me to go harder for my own. Exactly. Okay. speaker-1: have you ever been the toxic one in a friendship or relationship? Never a friendship. never a friendship. yes. In yeah, in my twenties. Yeah. In my twenties. Relationships? In a relationship. In not relationships. speaker-0: Yeah, it's okay. It does feel like my correct. speaker-1: Yeah. Yeah, I I would say a good one. Just one? Yeah, no, because like you know, you gotta think about it. I was I was like I was young a young mom. So like I my life was a little bit more serious, so I couldn't like play around too much. Yeah. But I did. But when yeah, I would say like a good speaker-0: She's probably when I got there. Brittany Spears ain't got nothing. speaker-1: Look. yeah, not Brady's fair as well. She was yeah. speaker-0: That you got the speaker-1: Like whoa. But yeah, you know, when you're when you're young, you're now speaker-0: You did you say we're now you could have shared that you're just saying I mean speaker-1: No. speaker-0: I think there there there is no age limit. speaker-1: Yeah. No, I agree, but mine is younger. speaker-0: Okay. But he said let's I mean speaker-1: Clarify that right now. speaker-0: I feel like we've all been toxic, you know. Yeah. Some more than others. I speaker-1: I mean I feel like speaker-0: was talking about myself. That's yeah, you I was good. But yeah, I think, you know, it's okay to be a little toxic. speaker-1: Interesting. speaker-0: I think everybody's had to go. I don't have much to tell, but I don't bother. But toxic is like relative. speaker-1: Agree. speaker-0: Like it it really is. It's relative like toxic is in the eyes of the holder. It is like some things work for people and it don't work for other people. That is true. You might look at like Bobby Whitney and be like, wow, that was toxic. speaker-1: I'm sure they thought it was too. speaker-0: But it was love and it was working for the But was toxic. Yes. speaker-1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. speaker-0: I didn't say it wasn't. But it you speaker-1: Well it's speaker-0: just basically say if they like it, you love it. speaker-1: Yeah, but yeah, okay, I got that. It just doesn't remove the toxicity. speaker-0: Like what's toxic to you may not be toxic to someone else. Yeah, no, I think that's a Do speaker-1: I would agree with that. Yeah. speaker-0: you feel like there's a age where you expect people to grow out of being toxic in relationships? speaker-1: yeah. speaker-0: What age is that? speaker-1: I don't Mm. I don't know. And my first thought I kind of was like somewhere in the thirties. And I don't want to say like thirty. speaker-0: Yeah, I was going to, but maybe I'm biased. speaker-1: Yeah, I was speaker-0: Cause I'm like, come on. I just feel like I'm 30 and I know not to be toxic. Like, that's a grown age. Like, yeah. You you haven't done it all, but you should have done enough by now. By 30? To have some logic that at least you're aware of what you're doing. Yeah, I think by 30 you should be a lot of stuff. speaker-1: But you said stop. speaker-0: Yeah, that's why I'm like, yeah, at thirty you should be aware and be able to stop. 'Cause it takes you being aware for speaker-1: Everybody wants to stop. I think that's the issue. speaker-0: I think some people will just become like okay with their toxicity. Yeah. speaker-1: Yeah. Well, you know, if that that's fair if you're okay with it, but then you also need to be okay with what comes with it. Do you get what I'm saying? What I mean by that is like if you're wanting a healthy, loving relationship, there's no possible way for you to be toxic and continue to be toxic and want a healthy, lovable relationship. It's kind of like either stay with what you want, you know what I'm saying? If you want the chaos, cool. But if you can't have calm and I mean you can have calm and chaos, but you can't have speaker-0: What did you say? Not for long. speaker-1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I think I don't think there's an age where I expect people to stop being toxic, but I do expect people to be honest and straightforward about their things. Because I think like I don't know, some of like what people define as toxic, not necessarily y'all, but like just in society, a lot of it is just it's like was that toxic? Like was he manipulative? speaker-0: my speaker-1: You slow. Yeah. speaker-0: Yeah. You know what? This relational conversation is a great segue into untamed time. Untamed conversations for those we need to clarify in the comments. Yeah. The conversation. speaker-1: Not very speaker-0: Yeah. Right. Anyways, house rules. speaker-1: To the person that got blocked. speaker-0: So I don't know if y'all keep up with them. I don't really, but the conversation was interesting. So Shallane Woodley, she played in like what was it, the secret life of like a teenage American teenage Divergent speaker-1: Ampere. speaker-0: Paradise Divergent. I guess she was engaged like Erin Rogers during the pandemic. Had no idea. Yeah. I knew I knew you knew? You knew? Yeah. I didn't know she was getting up. I just you know speaker-1: That is right. speaker-0: I watched the news. You watched the news. Okay, well, did you hear that he went on some podcasts, I guess like three days ago, and basically was like, like the reason why our engagement ended it's not funny. But the reason why our engagement ended is because like two or three days after he proposed to her, this Aaron Rodgers, he said that Shallane was basically like, Well, just so you know, before we get married, like I would like to have there's some guy that I still want to have sex with. And he said that's why he broke the engagement off. I don't believe it. First of all, this was speaker-1: Four years. speaker-0: first he's remarried also. First of all, he's a bigot. he's a bigot. I feel like that is a lot of context. And second of all, he did it when she on the same like weekend, day, whatever, she won her first image. Right. Yeah. speaker-1: I think it's trash. speaker-0: Like you're finding something to say. And third of all, you're married. And this is And she's the one that called off the engagement. Like you're heartbroken still. I don't know what made him go. And like at least she asked, What what do you want me to say? That's personally how I feel. Cause I just feel like I'm not saying that I agree or disagree with her wanting to. I just feel like it was a conversation. Like some people have marriages or relationships like that where that's a thing. And it's like you're getting hit you're sitting here blasting her four years later for her just like expressing a desire. Like she was just testing the water. Like not literally, but she was just like That's how I feel. Like how you gonna feel about it and Yeah, if he said no, then she wouldn't have did it maybe. I don't speaker-1: Yeah. speaker-0: think she did it though. See, so what is he mad about? Exactly for speaker-1: But she he could have just kept it. He needs to know this. This is not information that we needed to know. I think if it if he had said something at the time, right, then like it still would be like, all right, you could keep that to yourself. But I would have like understood. But it's just like the fact that you're trying to capitalize on her moment and tell us this information that none of us knew. Because it would it's just like speaker-0: I don't feel sorry for speaker-1: I think it's all trying to make him a part of the conversation. Well it makes him look bad. speaker-0: It's a double standard because that's like online. Y'all know I'll be on TikTok. And people in the comments were just like, if a guy said this, like he would have been canceled already, this, that, and the third. And it's like, yes, it's a double standard. There's a certain things that like women can get away with that men can't get away with, and vice versa. Like if Aaron said that and Shallane blasted him on a podcast today, people probably would be dragging him through the mud. But that's not what people are doing on TikTok because apparently the guy was Theo from Steel James. I told you I was just talking about his own. You are blessing. Good idea, Shalein. I mean I really don't give a fuck about Aaron Rodgers. speaker-1: Yeah. Yeah. speaker-0: That's a dad. Honestly, it sounds like a joke. Was she joking? I don't think she was joking. I mean she would do it if she could, but did she really have the opportunity? So do you know you think that she really liked him? Or that did somebody you need? It also sounds like it had to be. Yeah, I think she liked like they were a pandemic couple. Yeah. speaker-1: say that not to say that you can't like get married or get married quickly or anything like that, but I do wonder if she really liked him. It sounds like things were moving very quickly. I think that's the case speaker-0: And I say yes. That's what we're trying to say. But I think if I think I wanted her, why would she be with Aaron? Like she had to be joking. speaker-1: depends how she feels because speaker-0: You could be a person. speaker-1: like if some like if a man proposed to me, I remember my boyfriend in college. I always told him I'm like I would tell him, I'm like, please don't propose to me in front of people because like if I have to say no, then like I wouldn't want to say no in front of people. So like what if he proposed to her in front of everybody? Like she might have felt like speaker-0: Did you say no in front of somebody? speaker-1: I wouldn't say no in front of everybody. I feel like that's embarrassing unnecessarily, but like we would have a conversation after speaker-0: Yeah. I heard you're supposed to say yes now because you'll never get asked again. Like it's better to just say like if that is someone like you actually want to be with, but maybe you don't want to get married, like if you say yes in the moment to embarrass them, then we talk about it later. Because if you say no without a conversation, they'll probably never propose to you. speaker-1: Yes, exactly. There's never especially a man like that. Like I feel like he just has like ego for her. Not to say like I think she probably was just like, Well, he's very wealthy. So I'm sure she probably was just like, you know, let me see if I could deal with this. speaker-0: She said, mm, I thought about it. And I still have speaker-1: I wonder do you think you have to have a do you think you should know? Do you think the guy should know that he's gonna get a yes before he proposes? Like that should be a a So then how do we speaker-0: I was a man I was I mean yeah speaker-1: Because I think men like that don't like I think men that are just so like egotistical and like wrapped up in themselves, I don't think they have the self awareness to like consider those shit. Yeah. Because I think like I just think that like if you're gonna propose, that's a really big step. speaker-0: Yeah, that's why you should speaker-1: know what the person is and say like there should have been conversation like I feel confident like we're at this place now our relationship is there one person feeling like I don't really know if I want to do this and one feeling one feeling gone hold that mean y'all not communicating. speaker-0: This is also speaker-1: So it's like you really value marriage really. speaker-0: Yeah, but speaker-1: And what kind conversation did they have after this? Because he came home speaker-0: And I speaker-1: if I was here as wife and you come home and I just saw that you are bringing up your ex 'cause for what speaker-0: I would be speaker-1: Unprovoked. speaker-0: I do feel like and this is not defensive Aaron because I don't care for him as a person, but you know, sound sound bites are real. So it's like I wonder what the prior conversation was. For sure. Like imagine we had a conversation today and then somebody clips it and you're like, Well, I really wasn't talking about my ex-boyfriend from college in that context, but like they only clipped that 10 seconds. speaker-1: It should have it should have never came up. speaker-0: Yeah, it wasn't as bad though. Because he also looks like a loser because he shared that information. It's speaker-1: Yeah. speaker-0: also like you ain't got it like that for your wi your fiance to be asking for another leave. So how embarrassing for you. How embarrassing for you. All righty. Well, I think that we are getting close to the end of the show. I've enjoyed y'all so much. any last words or remarks? Or homework things you want people to take away and think about, do? speaker-1: say find a side quest that would be my favorite find a find a side quest do something different explore be untamed be untamed speaker-0: Taking my tag one. speaker-1: are we going down the line? speaker-0: we can, yeah. speaker-1: I don't like. speaker-0: Thanks watching. That's mine. Yeah, she said that. Thanks for watching. Yeah, I echo. I'll be like, do a side quest for the week, do something different, do something out of the box. And you know, try not to use AI for stupid shit. That's your speaker-1: That's a balance. Yeah. Yeah. Save the speaker-0: homework for the week. That is your homework. Only use AI speaker-1: Yeah, I use it. speaker-0: if it is a dire need. Before you use AI, think. Literally speaker-1: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. speaker-0: just think. Go read a book, that's my advice. People are we're in a literacy crisis. Go speaker-1: Yeah, yeah. speaker-0: read a book. Please go read a book. Any book. It could be anything. speaker-1: Yeah, read is fundamental. speaker-0: Well, cool. Thanks y'all for joining. Be sure to subscribe.
