- 0:40Speaker 1: So a friend just messaged me and mentioned Milo Yiannopoulos
- 0:46Speaker 1: and how he was recently deported from the United States
- 0:50Speaker 1: back to the UK. And I've been thinking about this
- 0:55Speaker 1: for a very long time, about how the news is
- 1:01Speaker 1: just gossip. And the fact that I even know that
- 1:08Speaker 1: Milo was deported is crazy. I don't need to know
- 1:14Speaker 1: that information. How does that affect my life? How does
- 1:17Speaker 1: that affect my walk with the Lord? How does that
- 1:20Speaker 1: edify me? How does that grow me in Christ? But first,
- 1:25Speaker 1: a word from our sponsor. It's a colossal waste of time.
- 1:31Speaker 1: And I know I'm speaking from a place of I
- 1:37Speaker 1: use social media. I actually use it very sparingly because
- 1:43Speaker 1: I've come to realize over, I think over the last
- 1:46Speaker 1: six months or a year, I've just realized 99% of
- 1:51Speaker 1: social media is just gossip. And not only that, 99%
- 1:56Speaker 1: of the news, of the New York Times is gossip.
- 1:59Speaker 1: For example, the Lindsay case, the Clancy case. there is
- 2:03Speaker 1: absolutely the woman who murdered her three children. There is
- 2:08Speaker 1: no reason on God's green earth why that story is
- 2:14Speaker 1: in my brain. Why do I need to know about
- 2:17Speaker 1: that story? That story should be between her, her husband,
- 2:21Speaker 1: and the courts. No one else should know about that story.
- 2:25Speaker 1: And you may say, oh, well, we need to know
- 2:28Speaker 1: about women and postpartum. No, that is a private story
- 2:33Speaker 1: and it should just be kept among those people who
- 2:38Speaker 1: were involved in that story. Literally, there's no reason for
- 2:42Speaker 1: me to know that. Why do I need that? And
- 2:47Speaker 1: the John Galliano story, John Galliano's a famous fashion designer,
- 2:54Speaker 1: and he was canceled many years ago because of his
- 2:58Speaker 1: rants at a Parisian where he went off about Jews
- 3:06Speaker 1: and et cetera, et cetera. And he was canceled. He
- 3:10Speaker 1: was about to have a retrospective at the Metropolitan Museum
- 3:14Speaker 1: of Art in New York. And the New York Times
- 3:18Speaker 1: has just been furiously writing articles about how he was
- 3:23Speaker 1: canceled and the show was canceled. It's like, number one,
- 3:27Speaker 1: I shouldn't even know about that story. I shouldn't know
- 3:29Speaker 1: about John Galliano's psychotic break. There's no reason for me
- 3:34Speaker 1: to know that. And I don't know. The more I'm
- 3:41Speaker 1: thinking about social media, the more I'm thinking about the news,
- 3:45Speaker 1: the more I'm thinking about podcasts. I mean, like Tucker Carlson.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Why do I need to know what the drama between
- 3:52Speaker 1: Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens and this person and that
- 3:56Speaker 1: person is and who's fighting whom? It's absolutely... absurd. And
- 4:05Speaker 1: if it's not, if it's not edifying you, if it's
- 4:09Speaker 1: not leading people to Christ, if it's not edifying other Christians,
- 4:17Speaker 1: then there is absolutely no reason for it to be
- 4:23Speaker 1: in our brains. We should be, as my pastor used
- 4:28Speaker 1: to say, we should be gossiping the gospel. Like that's Really,
- 4:32Speaker 1: we should be gossiping the good news. All the other stuff,
- 4:36Speaker 1: like I'm just going to read a couple headlines today,
- 4:39Speaker 1: right now. In the New York Times, there's an article.
- 4:43Speaker 1: This is a headline in the New York Times. Ex-girlfriend
- 4:46Speaker 1: of three married billionaire, thrice, I'm sorry, ex-girlfriend of thrice
- 4:51Speaker 1: married billionaire sues over, quote, broken promises. Now, why in
- 4:58Speaker 1: the world do I need to know about this person?
- 5:03Speaker 1: What does that have to do with my life? That
- 5:05Speaker 1: is gossip. The New York Times is gossiping. That's all
- 5:09Speaker 1: it is. And it's all to keep us in the
- 5:14Speaker 1: state of kind of outrage and anger. I mean, I'm
- 5:19Speaker 1: outraged by the outrage. But I'm just saying we don't
- 5:25Speaker 1: have to live like this. And I don't even... I mean,
- 5:30Speaker 1: if I didn't have.
- 5:32Speaker 1: My show, my podcast. And if I didn't have a
- 5:35Speaker 1: book coming out in the next year, February of 2027,
- 5:40Speaker 1: I probably would delete all my social media accounts because
- 5:44Speaker 1: I find I'm finding more and more that, uh, well,
- 5:48Speaker 1: I mean, this isn't new news. This is old news,
- 5:50Speaker 1: but it's just, I'm realizing that it's really, it's really
- 5:55Speaker 1: just kind of this national or international pacifier. And instead
- 6:01Speaker 1: of going to social media, uh, We should go to
- 6:05Speaker 1: this book, which is called The Bible, and read that
- 6:09Speaker 1: instead of social media. And by the way, I'm preaching
- 6:13Speaker 1: to myself as well. Here's another. Let me look at
- 6:16Speaker 1: another headline. Let's see. Here's another headline in The New
- 6:22Speaker 1: York Times right now. Musicians sue AI music company for
- 6:26Speaker 1: imitating their voices. Okay.
- 6:29Speaker 2: Okay.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Again, that story should be between the musicians and the
- 6:33Speaker 1: AI company, period, and their lawyers. Nobody needs to know this.
- 6:39Speaker 1: There's no reason that anyone needs to know. Here's, oh,
- 6:45Speaker 1: let's see. Let me find another just pointless headline. We'll
- 6:51Speaker 1: be right back after this short break. Here's the John Galliano.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Here's an analysis. This is analysis. This is an opinion piece.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Was John Galliano ever really canceled? Not by the fashion crowd.
- 7:05Speaker 1: This may be the end of the Costume Institute's exhibition
- 7:09Speaker 1: of the designer's work, but it's not likely to be
- 7:12Speaker 1: the end of his career. So, what? Like, why do
- 7:18Speaker 1: I need to know that? There's no reason. And, uh,
- 7:23Speaker 1: let's see if I can find any other pointless stories. Um.
- 7:32Speaker 1: There's a story, you know, a Canadian car theft epidemic
- 7:35Speaker 1: fueled by Russian sanctions. Like that should be a local
- 7:40Speaker 1: story in Canada, maybe so they can like protect their
- 7:44Speaker 1: own cars, you know, or put a, uh, whatever, lock
- 7:48Speaker 1: them up. But, uh, that doesn't, I, again, it doesn't
- 7:54Speaker 1: help me. It doesn't, I don't need to know that information.
- 7:57Speaker 1: There's no reason I should know it. Uh, And I love,
- 8:02Speaker 1: you know, in the New York Times every day, they
- 8:03Speaker 1: have a section called Catch Up on Today's Biggest Stories.
- 8:09Speaker 1: A generational clash in Massachusetts, rising borrowing costs and Yo-Yo
- 8:14Speaker 1: Ma's expanding reach. And I think this is kind of
- 8:21Speaker 1: like important news, important breaking stories. And it's, again, I
- 8:26Speaker 1: would say 95% of the stories in the New York
- 8:31Speaker 1: Times is gossip. 99% of the posts on social media
- 8:37Speaker 1: is gossip. And I just want to read Philippians chapter four,
- 8:44Speaker 1: where Paul says the following. Finally, brothers, whatever is true,
- 8:50Speaker 1: whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever
- 8:54Speaker 1: is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence,
- 8:58Speaker 1: if there's anything worthy of praise, Think about these things.
- 9:01Speaker 1: What you have learned and received and heard and seen
- 9:05Speaker 1: in me. Practice these things and the God of peace
- 9:09Speaker 1: will be with you. This social media, the news, it's
- 9:18Speaker 1: all there to rob us of our peace. And Satan
- 9:23Speaker 1: loves it. Satan loves that we're all scrolling, doom scrolling,
- 9:29Speaker 1: He loves that we're anxious. He loves that we're distracted.
- 9:33Speaker 1: He loves that we're not reading our Bibles. He loves
- 9:36Speaker 1: that we're not communing with the creator of the universe.
- 9:40Speaker 1: He loves that we're ignoring our time with the most
- 9:45Speaker 1: amazing person of all time, Jesus Christ. I mean, why?
- 9:52Speaker 1: Satan loves us. I always say this. I say this
- 9:57Speaker 1: about other things, but Satan is laughing all the way
- 9:59Speaker 1: to the bank. And so I urge all of you,
- 10:03Speaker 1: I mean, I'm, and I urge myself to just stop
- 10:08Speaker 1: and gossip the gospel. Just gossip the gospel. Don't talk
- 10:13Speaker 1: about other people. Don't talk about Milo. Don't talk about
- 10:16Speaker 1: Tucker Carlson, whatever. Just gossip the gospel. That's my final word. Wait,
- 10:25Speaker 1: don't touch that dial. Please like and subscribe. And also,
