- 1:29Speaker 2: All right, welcome, welcome.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Welcome everybody to another.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Mrs Pi, I'm so excited that Dr Pinkins is joining me tonight.
- 1:37Speaker 2: How are you?
- 1:39Speaker 1: I'm fine, I'm glad to be here.
- 1:42Speaker 2: This is so.
- 1:43Speaker 2: I've been waiting for this for quite some time.
- 1:45Speaker 2: So, before we get started, I do want to say hello.
- 1:47Speaker 2: We have a lot of folks who watch our replays, but we're also live right now on Facebook, linkedin, youtube, twitter and Parade Deck TV on the Mrs Pi channel.
- 1:58Speaker 2: So what's up everybody?
- 1:59Speaker 2: Thank you so much for watching.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Don't forget to like the video so that it all kicks off the social media streets.
- 2:06Speaker 2: But, dr Pinkins, so you're one of.
- 2:10Speaker 2: You know I try to give folks their flowers before I jump into the interview, because that's just how we do things, but you're one of the kindest, most genuine people of beans that I've met.
- 2:23Speaker 2: You're also an Air Force veteran, so thank you so much for your service.
- 2:26Speaker 2: I got to get all this out y'all, because before we get into talking about Empowerment Academy and everything that Dr Pinkins says, y'all should know that she's just a woman of real substance, a woman of faith, and I'm so grateful for this opportunity for you to share your heart.
- 2:44Speaker 2: Encourage some people.
- 2:45Speaker 2: I know there's a.
- 2:45Speaker 2: You know we're at the time of year now where we're shifting into the holidays and you know there might be somebody out there who could use the encouragement as well.
- 2:53Speaker 2: So thank you so much for doing this.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Oh well, thank you for inviting me.
- 2:59Speaker 2: So all right.
- 3:00Speaker 2: So I want to start with just getting a little bit more about so just again introducing you as a again I mentioned the Air Force veteran.
- 3:08Speaker 2: You're a certified Empowerment Coach for Christian women who are hurting from unresolved emotional trauma.
- 3:14Speaker 2: You're a speaker, you're a senior pastor, you're a survivor, you're an inspiration and you're an author of two books.
- 3:21Speaker 2: And I do recall you just close out the Holiday Empowerment webinar.
- 3:26Speaker 2: I think the last one was yesterday.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Right, you had a session yesterday.
- 3:30Speaker 2: Can you tell us a little bit about what that was?
- 3:34Speaker 1: Well, we had that webinar because some people find it very difficult during this time.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Not everybody's real happy and it's not some people very lonely and some people have very challenging times as they visit with families or recalling, like the person one of the people that were on yesterday.
- 3:54Speaker 1: She said you know, my father died yesterday, 40 years ago, and I remember the time and I think about the people who've lost loved ones right near this time of year that it's not a jolly.
- 4:11Speaker 1: So we were wanted to minister to those people and to encourage them and uplift them.
- 4:16Speaker 1: And there's actually a disorder.
- 4:18Speaker 1: They call it a seasonal affective disorder.
- 4:22Speaker 1: It's sad that people go through and the increased depression they said suicide increases.
- 4:28Speaker 1: So we were trying to reach out and encourage people.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Yeah, and I love that.
- 4:33Speaker 2: You know there's a couple of organizations that that Mrs Pye actually supports Stop Soldier Suicide.
- 4:39Speaker 2: It happens to be one of them, so shout out to that organization.
- 4:42Speaker 2: We try to send people.
- 4:44Speaker 2: You know where they can find resources.
- 4:46Speaker 2: But let's talk a little bit more about your empowerment academy.
- 4:50Speaker 2: Can you tell us you know what is?
- 4:52Speaker 2: What is it that you do?
- 4:54Speaker 1: Well, I, I do coaching for individuals.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Our main focus is those who have unresolved trauma or carrying pain from their past, because your pain blocks your power and it blocks the greatness that we have inside from coming out.
- 5:13Speaker 1: So we coach.
- 5:15Speaker 1: In the coaching that we do, we try to do it in a way to customize it to the individuals, what they need, and so later on we're going to be training coaches to do the same thing that I'm doing, and so it's enjoyable.
- 5:32Speaker 1: It's like I've been doing it all my life.
- 5:34Speaker 1: It just wasn't a business and I I mean, I've just found my, I've found my place and it's so natural for me and it's what I'm going to do the rest of my life.
- 5:45Speaker 2: So how did you find your place?
- 5:46Speaker 2: So, whenever I meet people who are walking in their purpose, if you can see it all over your face and you're talking about what you do, how did you get there?
- 5:54Speaker 2: How did you know?
- 5:56Speaker 2: Like this is it?
- 5:58Speaker 1: Well, the other thing too.
- 5:59Speaker 1: God has given me a heart to always help people.
- 6:01Speaker 1: I remember being in high school and there was a young lady who was homeless and had nowhere to go and I I went, I brought her home and I said, mom, can she live with us?
- 6:12Speaker 1: I think we might have had maybe three or six months of school left, and so my mom let her live there.
- 6:18Speaker 1: She didn't get any check or any money from social services.
- 6:20Speaker 1: So that's always been my heart to help people be better off.
- 6:25Speaker 1: And throughout, you know, teaching I've taught in five different inner cities.
- 6:28Speaker 1: I've seen a lot of hurting people and in situations where people are not living at their highest potential one reason or another.
- 6:38Speaker 1: And then that's what really inspired me for coaching.
- 6:43Speaker 1: But I didn't know anything about coaching until about four years ago.
- 6:47Speaker 1: I didn't know it was a field, but we had a women's conference at the church that I was attending at the time and a coach spoke and it's like the Holy Spirit said I was, so I've always been very private to keep things in.
- 7:03Speaker 1: He said you can trust him, you can talk to her, and I'll give a shout out to Coach Mo.
- 7:08Speaker 1: You know she's in the insurance area she deals with insurance with women.
- 7:12Speaker 1: But anyway she started coaching me way below her market price and that's what I learned about coaching.
- 7:20Speaker 1: So that's what kind of launched me into it.
- 7:23Speaker 1: And then I found my niche of helping those where I had the greatest pain in my life.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Wow.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Do you find that within the Air Force community as well?
- 7:35Speaker 2: So, whether they're veterans or military spouses, do you find that that there's a lot of?
- 7:41Speaker 2: And I just like a throwaway question, because I know the answer is yes, but there are a lot of veterans that, especially this time of year, you know if they're away from their families.
- 7:53Speaker 2: And you mentioned, you mentioned, something called sad.
- 7:56Speaker 2: What is that?
- 7:57Speaker 2: What is that?
- 7:58Speaker 2: It's?
- 7:59Speaker 1: a seasonal, seasonal effective disorder Sad, and they've actually got a psychological term for it and it's what people go through and being more depressed.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Well, military members and military connected community members have a higher incidence.
- 8:15Speaker 1: Research shows that higher incidence of post traumatic stress, whether it comes from separation, whether it comes from experiencing the experience in combat, trauma and combat, or whether you know, sexual assault, assaults in the military and the stresses and strains of life.
- 8:33Speaker 1: So those things and some people have been dealing with it for decades and are still not resolved.
- 8:42Speaker 1: So, yes, you're right that there's a higher incidence within the military and military connected community.
- 8:48Speaker 2: Do you have a couple pieces of advice that you could share with the military community that you know, as you know even how?
- 8:55Speaker 2: How do you identify what that is?
- 8:56Speaker 2: Or or some advice on you know what do you do.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Well, one of the things the first step whether it be military or whether it be the general public is that there has to be awareness.
- 9:10Speaker 1: And what happened to me was I had a very traumatic domestic violent situation when I was 10 years old and it brought a lot of fear and anxiety and pain.
- 9:23Speaker 1: But I pushed that and held it inside for 40 years, never telling one person.
- 9:29Speaker 1: Although it was affecting me Now, the good way it affected me was the fact that it may be become a high achiever.
- 9:37Speaker 1: So it's like I had to prove myself and ultimately end up being the first African American female on Titanize, a missile combat crew commander.
- 9:46Speaker 1: So that was a good side of it.
- 9:49Speaker 1: But the bad side of it was it was so far pushed down that I didn't even realize that it was there.
- 9:56Speaker 1: That's how it was.
- 9:57Speaker 1: But when I got knowledge and attended a seminar about domestic violence and its effect, it's like if the pain just rushed up.
- 10:06Speaker 1: So I became aware that I needed to deal with this and I was even going to go to counseling realm.
- 10:13Speaker 1: But God supernaturally did some things and using some faith based principles, that's how I got my freedom.
- 10:19Speaker 1: So one of the things I look at now at the individual, like, for example, I have one of my clients that 40 years old, but she has been a lot of trauma, when she was growing up, you know, and in her teen years sexual trauma, physical abuse, emotional abuse and so on.
- 10:39Speaker 1: But she wouldn't deal with it either.
- 10:43Speaker 1: But then when she became aware of it and started to have coaching sessions with me, so she's been able to get because there's a freedom that all of us desire to have.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Yes, freedom and true inner peace can't come when these things are pushed down, but they will affect our relationships, they will affect our self esteem and everything else.
- 11:03Speaker 1: Wow.
- 11:05Speaker 2: So can you talk about your book?
- 11:07Speaker 2: There's a book and I've dropped a link to your site in the chat already so y'all can check it out but there's a downloadable book called Five Essential Keys to Unlock True Freedom and Overcome Emotional Trauma, which kind of anchors to what we're talking about.
- 11:22Speaker 2: Can you talk a little bit about what that book is?
- 11:24Speaker 2: And then we want to talk about the other books because she's an author y'all, that ebook is a free book.
- 11:32Speaker 1: All you have to do is visit my site, as Mrs Pi said, and it's really just walking you through five essential things, and one of the first thing is becoming aware in your belief system.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Well, you believe, some people believe.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Well, this is just the way I am, and I've carried it this many decades.
- 11:50Speaker 1: I can't be free.
- 11:51Speaker 1: So this is the way I'm going to go to my grave.
- 11:53Speaker 1: But that's not so, because, deep within every person, every human being, we want to be free.
- 11:59Speaker 1: Deep within every human being, we want to realize our potential and the greatness that God has put inside of each of us.
- 12:07Speaker 1: But the things that have happened to us, you know.
- 12:10Speaker 1: So we need to be delivered, we need to be healed, we need to be coached and helped so that we can break out of those emotional prisons.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Wow, and then.
- 12:24Speaker 2: So let's talk about the other books.
- 12:26Speaker 2: I think, billy, you had two other books.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Yeah, the two of the two books are available on Amazon or Barnes and Noble and one is called Divine Ponds from above and that book is short poems but dealing with all different aspects of life from a Christian Christ centered focus and word base.
- 12:49Speaker 1: So those are poems that God gives me.
- 12:51Speaker 1: I think in that book there's over 200 poems and I have another volume two that hasn't been published yet, with about 200 to go.
- 13:01Speaker 1: But the other thing too is that the one about my life story, and I included everything in there except for the domestic violence, because I wanted to save some people who are guilty.
- 13:17Speaker 1: So but it's my but it's my life story.
- 13:22Speaker 1: It says life is precious, valuable and purposeful, treasure every moment and every person.
- 13:29Speaker 1: So you know we don't.
- 13:31Speaker 1: I think I'm learning more and more as I get older to live in the present, to look at people, no matter how raunchy or bad or smell or whatever they may be.
- 13:41Speaker 1: They have value.
- 13:43Speaker 1: They have value and my interaction with them should increase or add value to their lives.
- 13:49Speaker 1: It shouldn't subtract.
- 13:50Speaker 1: So I'm just glad that I'm able to have those resources available.
- 13:57Speaker 2: Wow, I love that.
- 13:58Speaker 2: I love that the way that you say that as well is realizing that people around you have value.
- 14:04Speaker 2: And I think one of the things that we have done as a society, especially the last 10 years, is we go into our bubbles and we stay in the bubble.
- 14:13Speaker 2: And you know something we talked about before we went live.
- 14:16Speaker 2: I was, I was saying y'all, y'all know me, I'm a church girl, but I was saying that that, even in ministry, that you have to come out of that bubble and be go where, go where people are and meet the people where they are.
- 14:28Speaker 2: So can you talk a little bit about that?
- 14:30Speaker 2: Because you are everywhere, like Dr Nick is everywhere.
- 14:36Speaker 2: How do you, how do you do that?
- 14:39Speaker 2: How do you go into the marketplace?
- 14:41Speaker 2: You know witnessing, ministering, coaching, bringing all of your experience.
- 14:48Speaker 2: You know really helping people.
- 14:50Speaker 2: You know, like I said, you cannot do this in a bubble.
- 14:53Speaker 2: You have to reach people where they are.
- 14:55Speaker 2: So how are you doing that?
- 14:57Speaker 1: Well, the other thing about it too, I think, first of all, is getting in touch with you, who you are, and fully accepting the good, the bad and the ugly God can use it all and then of being wherever you go, being spirit led.
- 15:15Speaker 1: Let the Holy Spirit lead you.
- 15:16Speaker 1: I've been bartering with a person who sits from Poland.
- 15:21Speaker 1: She's a Polish lady, she does some graphic arts artwork for me and I do once a month coaching session for her and she said to me recently because she's got some challenges in her life.
- 15:31Speaker 1: She said to me she said, dr Pinkins, you have two major areas where you help people.
- 15:36Speaker 1: One is the supernatural and the second one is dealing with trauma.
- 15:40Speaker 1: She said can you put together something for the Polish people, because many of them don't believe in the supernatural?
- 15:46Speaker 1: They are 95% Catholic, catholic, yeah.
- 15:52Speaker 1: So anyway, I sent her a 20 minute video and from that we were discussing.
- 16:01Speaker 1: We said, okay, we're going to develop a webinar so that people can come in and start to learn.
- 16:10Speaker 1: And I see the Polish people, especially a lot of the women.
- 16:13Speaker 1: They're really sincere Christians, they love God, but they only operate at a certain level because that's all they taught.
- 16:20Speaker 1: They can go through the rituals and so on.
- 16:22Speaker 1: So, anyway, long story short, we're planning to launch a webinar so that we can continue to teach and train, and I know the women are going to get hungry, so they're going to want more coaching or more because God is at work, and we're going to do a bilingual.
- 16:47Speaker 1: So she said, with the webinar, the one I sent her, she said I'm going to put Polish subtitles and I said why don't we just do it bilingual?
- 16:55Speaker 1: We don't make it long, maybe 15 minutes.
- 16:57Speaker 1: So we're planning to do that in 2024.
- 17:01Speaker 2: Oh, that is awesome, and I need to know when that's happening because I'm sitting here like, oh, I want to learn, so all right.
- 17:08Speaker 2: So over the past years you've helped a lot of women achieve what I call true lasting freedom, because it's tied back to spiritual right and, again, everybody knows that's my foundation.
- 17:20Speaker 2: Is there a specific like a success story that stands out for you?
- 17:26Speaker 2: Is there success story that you can spotlight and mind sharing?
- 17:33Speaker 1: I would think about that earlier and I won't mention names, but it was when I was in Jamaica.
- 17:39Speaker 1: I lived in Jamaica six years as a missionary pastor, and when I was in Jamaica, one of my parents who was gifted and trained as an artist she lived in England, grew up in England, she's Jamaican but grew up in England and so she would come in and volunteer once a week to do our art as an art teacher.
- 17:58Speaker 1: And once I was in her house, and you know I would.
- 18:02Speaker 1: It's natural for me to encourage people, whether they be the students, whether they be the parents or whether, you know, I'm interacting.
- 18:09Speaker 1: And so I was in her home and she and I said well, where's your work?
- 18:14Speaker 1: And she says it's under the bed.
- 18:17Speaker 1: I said, under the bed, she says no, I don't paint or I don't do any art anymore.
- 18:22Speaker 1: I said why?
- 18:23Speaker 1: This is your talent?
- 18:25Speaker 1: Cause I'd seen some of the things she was teaching the children and so on.
- 18:28Speaker 1: And so she started pulling it out.
- 18:32Speaker 1: Oh, mrs Pie, quality of work, the, the gifting, the creativity was just amazing.
- 18:40Speaker 1: And so I started to coach her and encourage her and the next thing, you know, she had put it under the bed because her husband had criticized her and got on her and so it had, and it had been in the bed for years.
- 18:55Speaker 1: Wow, anyway, she got it out.
- 19:00Speaker 1: She started painting again.
- 19:02Speaker 1: I thank God for that and today her work is on.
- 19:07Speaker 1: It's on the web selling for thousands and thousands of dollars.
- 19:10Speaker 1: She's no longer married to that individual and she's really back in England now, but she, she, she found her purpose and she's able to be a blessing and she's it's.
- 19:22Speaker 1: It's just amazing.
- 19:23Speaker 1: And I go to her site out there and I thought, man, this was all hidden.
- 19:27Speaker 1: And here it is, so that greatness came out of her.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Wow, and that's a gift.
- 19:34Speaker 2: It's a gift to be able to do that.
- 19:35Speaker 2: Not everybody can see the potential in the real potential in other people.
- 19:41Speaker 2: That is that in itself is a gift and so that that I appreciate that and y'all I know my family is like she talking about to make it wasn't a setup.
- 19:49Speaker 2: Y'all I'm to make it.
- 19:50Speaker 2: It wasn't.
- 19:51Speaker 2: It wasn't a yachty setup, it was.
- 19:53Speaker 2: It was a real, was a real story.
- 19:55Speaker 2: So can you talk a little bit about the church?
- 19:58Speaker 2: I believe you're planting a church.
- 20:00Speaker 1: Yes, yes, and I just want to say I'm no longer just American, I'm a Jamaican, I've been living in.
- 20:07Speaker 1: Jamaica for six years, and that's what and I have Jamaican friends here and they said that's what I am really too, you've been adopted.
- 20:15Speaker 1: Yes, about the church we're planting a church.
- 20:19Speaker 1: It's called International Church of Destiny and the church has been in my belly for years.
- 20:24Speaker 1: I ran from it for two decades because I didn't want to be a single female pastor.
- 20:30Speaker 1: Well, anyway, I've stopped and I pastored some when I was in Jamaica as a missionary pastor.
- 20:36Speaker 1: I wasn't a senior pastor there, but a year ago I started Bible study.
- 20:42Speaker 1: I had that for a couple of years on a free conference call, but I said, no, god, I'm going to, and as soon as I did this year.
- 20:50Speaker 1: Then I had challenges.
- 20:51Speaker 1: My mom had challenges with her health, and so we stopped.
- 20:54Speaker 1: But I've started back.
- 20:55Speaker 1: We're on Zoom now and I'm going to continue, and this is what I'm going to do, too, the rest of my life.
- 21:00Speaker 1: I don't believe I don't see anywhere in the Bible where it says they retired.
- 21:04Speaker 1: So I don't think they did it.
- 21:12Speaker 2: I love that and you know, when I first met you, our first conversation, I would just remember sitting back saying there's so many things that we have in common.
- 21:24Speaker 2: I, like you, ran for 20 years till your legs give out.
- 21:30Speaker 2: You can't keep running, okay, and so I love that you stop running and you've shifted into that part of your gifting and serving people and coaching people.
- 21:43Speaker 2: What do you see coming up in 2024 for yourself, whether it's the Empowerment Academy or the webinars, or what are some of the things that you're excited about in 2024?
- 21:54Speaker 1: Yeah, and I just want to backtrack a little bit we have a lot of churches, but God has called us to be a supernatural church where the spirit of God can move anyway, through anyone and any given time, so that people are safe, healed, delivered, and people should be trained up not to sit on pews but to go out and take their place in the harvest field.
- 22:17Speaker 1: So that's the difference about International Church of Destiny and it's international.
- 22:21Speaker 1: So it's interesting that we were kind of forced to go on Zoom, but it's over there because we have somebody in Brazil, we have someone in Poland, we have someone in Africa, angola and God is moving.
- 22:35Speaker 1: But I want to say this in 2024, one of my mentors, when I went through the Service to CEO program with the Rosy Network, through I was met this mentor.
- 22:48Speaker 1: So we're doing the.
- 22:50Speaker 1: We have two sessions in January where we're how to set smart goals and achieve them, and we have two sessions in January.
- 22:59Speaker 1: If it goes well, we're going to repeat them for February because, I mean, people give resolutions, like you said, and they grew, but many times they just need a community and we believe that it's time to soar, as you said in 2024.
- 23:16Speaker 1: So we're going to help people soar.
- 23:19Speaker 1: We're going to do these webinars.
- 23:20Speaker 1: The webinars are free, but prayerfully we want to get a group that would join, like an accountability group and encouragement group, and we plan on doing that.
- 23:32Speaker 1: That's one thing.
- 23:33Speaker 1: I plan on going live on Facebook every day for at least two to five minutes to share an empowerment gym and then invite people to come to the success empowerment, success group so that I can continue to reach out and to minister to people and those who want they can reach out to me to have individual and or group coaching.
- 23:56Speaker 1: But that's how I'm going to so into people's lives and I'm believing God to do amazing things.
- 24:04Speaker 2: Wow, that's awesome and people can find you on Facebook.
- 24:06Speaker 2: Can they go to the Dr Pinkins coachingcom and find your social media, or what's the easiest way for them to do that?
- 24:13Speaker 1: They can do that.
- 24:14Speaker 1: They can go on Facebook and just put my name in, but they can also go to Dr Pinkins coachingcom, and so you know you'll find me.
- 24:25Speaker 1: As a matter of fact, you put me in Google and I also have a blog with the poems.
- 24:31Speaker 2: You'll find me and now LinkedIn.
- 24:34Speaker 2: Y'all literally could just Google Dr Pinkins and you can find her everywhere.
- 24:38Speaker 2: Like I said, she's out here doing amazing things.
- 24:41Speaker 2: What do you, you know?
- 24:43Speaker 2: And just as you said, rosie, like it just came back like, oh yeah, I was involved.
- 24:47Speaker 2: I involved in Rosie too.
- 24:49Speaker 2: I was a coach or a SME helping some of the business owners do branding, so I taught a couple of classes.
- 24:59Speaker 2: So shout out to the Rosie network.
- 25:01Speaker 2: Shout out to Parade Deck, because that's something else that we also have in common is that Dr Pinkins is a part of the Parade Deck family.
- 25:09Speaker 2: So shout out to Parade Deck, andrew and everybody, riko especially for introducing me to Dr Pinkins.
- 25:16Speaker 2: You know again our entire Air Force family.
