- 0:01[SPEAKER_00]: You're listening to building the Broncos with Nick Kendall and Carl Dumbler.
- 0:06[SPEAKER_00]: Broncos countries leading trapping, scouting analysts.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_00]: Hit on over to milehighhuddle.com to sound off on all things Broncos.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_02]: wanting to all right.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_02]: Welcome in.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_02]: Welcome in.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_02]: It is 6.05.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_02]: Mount Triumph Tuesday night.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_02]: It's time for an episode of building the Broncos.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_02]: No building doing on today.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_02]: Carl, the Broncos, the trade deadlines.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_02]: Come and go on in the Broncos.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of
- 0:35[SPEAKER_02]: big people in the industry, you know, hinting that the Broncos who might make a big splash, you got Jordan Sholdes talking, I think, uh, fowler as well over at ESPN.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_02]: You had, uh, Palmer also mentioned in the Broncos, I'll keep an eye out at Chase Daniel.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_02]: Of course, uh, the connection with Sean Payton, but the trade deadline comes and goes and the Broncos you had entering today are essentially the same ones that you have leaving today.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_02]: There was a JT Gray.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_02]: released on an injury settlement, but no traits.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe Carl, good to see a little bit.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to say disappointing, but maybe underwhelming, I understand it and let's just get into it.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_02]: How you doing?
- 1:17[SPEAKER_04]: Well, I mean, I'm good.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, how could you not be good?
- 1:21[SPEAKER_04]: It's like at least where I'm at.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_04]: It's beautiful day.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_04]: Got to go for a run with my wife, daughter, and son, and the dogs, of course.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_04]: There you go.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_04]: So I can't be complaining too much.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_04]: Life in general is good, but you're right.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_04]: The Broncos, being first in the division, tied for first in the entire NFL for record.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_04]: And you have some pretty obvious holes on this team.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_04]: that there were players being linked that would have been a huge upgrade for the Broncos.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_04]: And to not see them make the move, I mean, in some ways I get it.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_04]: Like from what I understand, some of those teams were asking for the moon.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_04]: You don't want to give up everything, just to pat to hold this year.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_04]: But at the same time, it is.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_04]: It's a little bit disappointing when you see a team like Indy who is right there with you.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_04]: They go make a really big splash move.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_04]: Like, hey, this is our year.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_04]: We're going for it.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_04]: And the Broncos don't do anything to kind of separate themselves because I mean, you got the Chargers right there, one game behind.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_04]: You've got Chiefs, two games behind.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_04]: It's not like you've got a ton of room if you could got that one more player, maybe it really does take it to that next level.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the Broncos were in on wide receivers and tight ends reportedly allegedly, but it comes and goes and we'll get into the what we've heard everything obviously, you know, we don't have the world's best sources, but there's some stuff that's not directly out there that's been hinted at that that I think, well, I mean, we'll just get into it right allegedly at the end of the day.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_02]: Not allegedly coming in David, Michael Rath, good evening Broncos country 13 and 4.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_02]: Carl, I think it was maybe you and me I can't remember, I say so much nonsense in my life, let alone the football takes that I have here if you and Eric and Scott in the morning.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_02]: But I think I said it would be more impressed if the Broncos go 4-0 over the
- 3:15[SPEAKER_02]: new jersey in Texas games rather than just winning that one Eagles game and here we are uh-huh winners of six in a row at that so I am impressed but Denver's got a real chance these next two weeks we can't overlook the Raiders rock powers is back there's a night adds a weird element to it and it's a divisional game i mean they would love nothing more than a place for others i think if you take away rock powers
- 3:38[SPEAKER_02]: don't play stupid football offensively in special teams.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_02]: But turn over.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_02]: You should you should win the game.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_02]: I think the defense is a little bit
- 3:46[SPEAKER_02]: underrated on the whole that they're like not like it's not like the Cowboys like laughably bad out there, but they're not good and they're offensive line is pretty darn future.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_02]: So that should be when then you got the chiefs, they're coming off a bio, have the mini bio, whatever you want to call it.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_02]: If Denver wins these next two games, they pretty much have a chokehold on the division.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_02]: I know the charges are still out there lurking.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_02]: You can't forget about Herbert but with all done for the season.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_02]: I just I don't know.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_02]: I can't see them
- 4:16[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think we're talking just division.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_02]: We're talking about, like, what does it take to get the one seed?
- 4:20[SPEAKER_02]: Which is, I mean, think about where we were two years ago.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_02]: If you told me that, I'd have said, you're freaking insane.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_02]: Like, put down the drugs, buddy.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, but no good is the a David 13 and 4.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_02]: It's possible.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_04]: It's very possible.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, that's just pretty much means they keep doing what they've been doing.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_04]: They finish out the rest of the year, going, I guess that would be what, six and
- 4:45[SPEAKER_02]: the same as they've got essentially.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I don't see any way.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_04]: Like I said, you've got the Raiders twice.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_04]: So that's should be two wins.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_04]: Chiefs twice.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_04]: Chiefs twice, but
- 4:58[SPEAKER_04]: they're beatable.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_04]: They are beatable.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_04]: And you really, really hope I don't think it will happen, but maybe Sertan is back by that game.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_04]: We'll see.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_04]: That would be a huge boom for the Broncos, and their defense is very susceptible.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_04]: And then you got Washington, and he lost their quarterback for it possibly the year.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_04]: You've got the Jags who've been very up and down.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_04]: You've got another game
- 5:24[SPEAKER_04]: So last game of the year.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so you've got some really good opportunities here to, like I said, be 13 and four.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_04]: And I'm talking about top of the class.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_04]: We got Michael Ron Keele coming in with $5 super saying, good evening, Nick and Carl, building the Broncos gobo Broncos.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_04]: Good to see you, Michael, and I'll learn the next jersey.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_04]: Again, my family has been in this.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_04]: Everybody wears the same jersey until we lose again.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_04]: And my wife's been in panic mode because she's in the military and they're well, we'll see if they're going to meet in December or not.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_04]: But she does, you know, the once a month go for the weekend and she was like, I don't know what I'm going to do.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_04]: I can't take the jersey with me.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_04]: She's like, they have very strict codes about what you're allowed to wear.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_04]: And I said, you can't wear it under your uniform.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_04]: She said, nope, they will check.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_04]: And I told her if we lose that game, I am telling everybody that it is your fault.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_02]: So she needs to get it tattooed on like really to like commit to the bit at this point.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_02]: So though then you can't take out.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_04]: But she said that she said the only thing that she gets controls underwear.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_04]: So I told her I might just have to get her some some Bronco underwear.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_04]: God bless.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_02]: I wear mine all the time.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_02]: I'm wearing some right now when I do wear underwear.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_02]: I did want to say hello to the great one coming in here.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_02]: I see your teen titans profile picture there, what's the slate, or something I've loved teen titans back when I was, you know, fifth grade, sixth grade, and still great.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_02]: It says, what I wouldn't have made a difference considering thief three things.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_02]: So 99, 99, thank you great, the great one.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_02]: An offense that's still inconsistent and failing to execute.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_02]: Sean Patons in consistent play calling a Bose flookie deep ball.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_02]: Coaching first.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_02]: I mean,
- 7:06[SPEAKER_02]: I'll even go one before you execution first.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, I have had some time to watch the games that I've been, you know, trying to, I do have a full-time job coming up you're pretty soon, God bless.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_02]: But I've had time to go back and watch the old 22.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_02]: And to the best of my ability with going through progression because you don't know the play, but like you have idea of like concepts and stuff, guys are open.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_02]: Not always making the catch.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_02]: Accorded back sometimes, banal on the pocket to early or getting the check down to early.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, maybe some of the sequencing, I think the designs are pretty good.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I think Sean Payton is, he's an A-hole, but he's our A-hole, and he's a damn good offensive designer.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_02]: So I do think coaching matters, but I think it's more execution at the end of the end of the day.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_02]: And it's hard to execute.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_02]: Like, let's be fair.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_02]: Like, it's not, you know,
- 8:00[SPEAKER_02]: I'll take a shot here, Alcorn State, go Steve McNair.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_02]: But this is the talent disparities not crazy, but I think it's more execution at the end of the day.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_02]: And I do think Water would have made a difference, but I think after the sauce gardener trade, two firsts go on out there and a solid cost control wide receiver heading back to the jets, Quinn and Williams getting a second this year and a first in 2027, I think the dolphins were like, hey, first,
- 8:25[SPEAKER_02]: not going to cut out anymore.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_02]: We want a first and a two or something more.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_02]: I would have been okay with like a first and they send back a fourth and maybe you subsequently trade one of your wide receivers, probably try Franklin, and a move.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_02]: But if it's your first shot pick and a, let's say you're third this year, I don't know.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_02]: I, I, that's a harder ask for me.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_02]: Like I think
- 8:50[SPEAKER_02]: But there's good wide receivers, pretty much every year.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_02]: In the draft is one, it's always a 50, 50, you know, for that shy idea, you're going to get Traylon Berks, so you're going to get Garrett Wilson, I who knows.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, yeah, it's, we'll see, but I applaud them for having a price and not getting desperate and feeling like, oh, we're so close.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_02]: Let's just give them what they want.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_02]: I do applaud that.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I do too.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_04]: I do think Wattled makes at least a little bit of a difference.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_04]: Rockers are second in the league and drops.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_04]: So it's not just a quarterback mess and up, it's not just coaches making bad calls.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_04]: Why receivers are not doing their job, even Portland Sutton has been a part of those drops.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_04]: The last two weeks, he's had drops.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_04]: So getting a guy that has consistent hands like Wattled, who can take a five yard pass and turn into a 30, 40 yard plague,
- 9:45[SPEAKER_04]: I think he would have been a really good fit.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_04]: But like you said, you don't want to sell the house just to fix something this year.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_04]: You know, you want to be able to look long-term and short-term in what you're doing.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_04]: And we've got the great one coming back in again saying trading Baylay was a mistake.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_04]: He was our only middle-of-the-field target last season.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_04]: SPS to fill that gap with Brian or Ingram somehow.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_04]: I really don't think Baylay was, he was decent for us.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_04]: But when you can get a fourth round pick for a guy that was his age is not going to get that big second contract.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_04]: And
- 10:21[SPEAKER_04]: had an okay rookie season.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_04]: I wouldn't say it was great.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_04]: I think it was just more than we thought.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it was great for where he was picked.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_04]: And so far this year, it's not like he's been lighting it up down there for the Saints, you know, he's got like five catches on the season.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_04]: So I'm not sure that he would have been the difference maker of getting this offense to a better place.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_04]: You're right, Bryant and Ingram, those are two guys that have really got to take a step up over the second half of the season.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_04]: I think
- 10:51[SPEAKER_04]: quality guy in the run game.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_04]: He's proving to be a more of a receiving threat.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, you're talking about guys running open.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_04]: That guy is getting open a lot.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_04]: And Ingram, he's getting open is just he and and bone nicks are not on the same page at all.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, there's a chemistry thing that's missing there.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_04]: And you hope, like I said, as the season goes on, bone nicks comes down on some of these throws.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_04]: Ingram takes that step up to be that true number two target guy that we were hoping he would be coming into the season.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_04]: And like I said, Bryant proving that he can come a number two, why do you see before you?
- 11:27[SPEAKER_04]: I don't think Franklin's all saying I'm going to take another step.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_04]: He's he's been decent.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_04]: But every single game pretty much we can go back and watch.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_04]: He has a bad drop.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_04]: He has the fumble.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_04]: He's not great at contested catches.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_04]: He has to have space to make the catch and to run.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_04]: That's what he's good at.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_04]: And as a number two, you expect a guy that can actually go be consistent catching the ball.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_04]: And he just isn't that guy for you.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_04]: And MIMS is not a great route runner.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_04]: So he can't be your number two either.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_02]: You're going to have to play a complimentary scheme up football with your past game, which Sean Payton's done a lot.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_02]: You wish you had a Michael Thomas level wide receiver that you could follow the game through and while Portland Sutton's really good, he's not Michael Thomas at his peak.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_02]: So really, it's going to come down to the quarterback at the end of the day.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_02]: Just as it always does.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, again, I don't remember where I said things Carl, but instead of the beginning of season, what can make the Broncos contenders?
- 12:24[SPEAKER_02]: You stay healthy, you hit above average on your health.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_02]: The quarterback takes a step, maybe two.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like right now, Bonix.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_02]: probably about the same level as last season, but there's still time to, you know, take a step before, not the same as the beginning of the season, but I feel like he hasn't taken a step from the level we saw week nine and on last year, some of the same issues, which it's still, I mean, you're talking about a middle of a pack quarterback on a rookie contract when it's hard to find quarterback.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_02]: Like, oh, that's, that's fine.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you can,
- 12:56[SPEAKER_02]: to a rock purter your way pretty far with good scheme and design around them.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_02]: And I think bone can't get better.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_02]: I think we're close with a lot of things.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_02]: So we'll see with that.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_02]: But I would I give just a lot of complimentary pieces right now.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_02]: Not a lot of pieces that are outside of Portland Sun pretty darn.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_02]: difference makers and sorry.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's bath time if you hear any crime in the background.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_02]: It's not just me DW coming in with a hundred dollars super chat man.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_02]: This is incredible.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_02]: We don't see the flash of the red very often so thank you so much
- 13:29[SPEAKER_02]: That was an amazing, dude, thank you.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_02]: He says Nick and Carl was great to see at the meet and greet was so great to see you as well.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_02]: Param Denver does not take Las Vegas for granted as a win.
- 13:39[SPEAKER_02]: We'll send into the coaches.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_02]: And today in today's press conference, I would say they are definitely not taking it lightly.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_02]: They are.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_02]: It's Raider Hateweek.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_02]: Baby, and there were in the throwbacks at home.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you gotta take advantage of that.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_02]: He says, I gotta say, I like Abrams Drain, the smaller than PS2, we play as Mark physical, which I like the hit on Stroud was clean and cherry.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_02]: Aloha, MHH for life, Broncos for life.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_02]: Well, thank you so much.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_02]: DW appreciate to so much.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, Chris Abrams Drain is a really useful piece.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_02]: And what is a year, too?
- 14:10[SPEAKER_02]: fifth round pick.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_02]: Another reason you're not just throwing around picks willy nilly.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_02]: Scott and Permanz found some good hits here and there.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_02]: And while I don't know if he's ever going to be a plus starter in the league to have him as your fourth or fifth corner back in rotation, I mean a lot of Kingswood.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_02]: Kill for that.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_02]: I'm so I'm really happy to have him here.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_02]: I'll be curious to see the snap usage in this upcoming game, especially when he had
- 14:39[SPEAKER_02]: lot of more base stuff you saw Baron out there opposite of Riley Moss and then when they went more nickel, depending on the past situation down in distance, you'd saw Chris Abrams drain out there with McMillan this lot and then Moss.
- 14:51[SPEAKER_02]: So I do think
- 14:53[SPEAKER_02]: Cad, Chris Abram drain, had more snaps, then Baron, but this is a Brock Bowers game.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_02]: I could see Baron getting more because he's tended to be the more of the tight enderacer for the defensive packages.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I've loved how they've used Baron.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_04]: I know it's been sparingly.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_04]: I know most of us would love to see him get a few more snaps.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_04]: But having a guy that can go match up with a tight end like ours and not be in a completely negative situation one on one allows the steepest continue to do what it's doing and Abram strain like you said that there's a time before certain what down with injury.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_04]: that there was talk, the Broncos were looking to trade McMillan because they really love Chris Abram strain and they love Barrett and how he's grown in his game and thought not that he was a McMillan was expendable.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_04]: But kind of like, hey, this is a nice piece.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_04]: We could get a good draft pick for and not feel like we're going to have this giant drop off in talent on the field.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_04]: And then Sertan went down and your kind of, we've got to stick with this.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_04]: It's kind of Broncos had a deal in place for a tight end.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_04]: And then it's I didn't went down with injury on that team that they had to deal with.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_04]: So the trade didn't happen is Green Bay if anybody's asking.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_04]: I know there's been some reporters out there that have put put that information out publicly.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_04]: So it's not anything new or anything like that.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_04]: But, but no, DW, thank you so much for this.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_04]: And, and you're right, I do love Abram strain.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not worried about the Raiders with this secondary, especially after they traded Jacoby Myers.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_04]: You know, that's the nice thing for the Broncos is at least
- 16:25[SPEAKER_04]: The trades that were made, they almost hurt the rest of the AFC West, more than they hurt the Broncos.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_04]: Because you look at Chiefs still have to play indie.
- 16:37[SPEAKER_04]: So now they've got to go against that great secondary that they're going to have down with SOS Corner.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_04]: They still have to play the cowboys who just traded for Quinn and Williams.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_04]: Now, they still won't have a secondary, so they're not going to be great, but it's still an upgrade over what they've had for sure, and we'll have to play the Jaguar still, so I guess that's one piece, we'll have to still play Jacoby Myers, but not have to play him twice, makes a big difference, because he has actually been really, really good against Broncos.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_04]: For some reason, that guy has some of his best games of the year stayed for the Broncos.
- 17:11[SPEAKER_04]: who was there at the running backs name, brush Jacobs.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, Josh Jacobs, every year, it was like he saved his best game for the Broncos.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know why they just, they really loved beating up on the Broncos, even they were a bad team.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_04]: So hopefully Ash and Jinti doesn't pick up that mantle and take over this kind of game, but no, Chicobe Myers being gone, big help this week, especially with our secondary missing certain, I think you can really match up well in this one.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and the Raiders understandably are underdogs.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_02]: And we don't like underdogs when they're the Raiders, obviously, but we do like an underdog here at Mile High Huddle.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_04]: That's right.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_04]: And because football season is in full swing, an underdog really is the best place to get in on all the action.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_04]: Are you ready to get off the bench and into the game?
- 17:59[SPEAKER_04]: head over to underdog, whether you're into basketball, football, hockey, or any sport in between underdog is the best place to get in on all the action all season long.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_02]: That's right, playing underdog is easy, just pick whether your favorite teams will go higher or lower on stats, such as rushing yards, receptions, touchdowns, and more.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_02]: I saw the spread on the Iowa and Oregon game dropped because there's going to be little rain there, so a big game for my Hawkeyes and big
- 18:27[SPEAKER_02]: So get your picks right and you can win up to 5,000 times your cash.

- 19:27[SPEAKER_02]: Well, thanks, Downer Dog.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_02]: I do want to say a little bit of a bunch more people coming in here.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_02]: I see our guy film, a glople, and coming in, always good to see Phil.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_02]: Good evening, Nick Carl and Deacon Scala.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_02]: It's hope something gets done to fix his special teams.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I felt really bad in hindsight on Monday morning, or yesterday morning, because I spent like,
- 19:43[SPEAKER_02]: Seven minutes like railing against special teams like wait a second.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_02]: This team is seven and two like why are the but why am I so Be negative right now.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_02]: I apologize for those who are there this morning.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_02]: Just bad special teams and lack of execution Specifically drives me insane because it seems like it's something that's very correctable and it's you know the fine detail so
- 20:02[SPEAKER_02]: unforested airs like alignment penalties, pre-snap procedural stuff and special teams God drives me nuts.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_02]: I wouldn't be very fun to be around and I don't know if you saw a kind of Sean Peyton Get a little testy with some of the media as well as some of the both frustrated with special teams guys getting out their way But then Correcting or you know saying saying twice That's about guys getting out there not necessarily the coaching staff, but
- 20:25[SPEAKER_02]: Regardless, we all have eyes, and we also have stats that say the Broncos special teams outside of the specialists themselves, shout out across your on-lots.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_02]: I've been bad this season and they've survived it for the most part, this season seven and two.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_02]: But I think that feels like that's a, we're taking that's gonna come home to Roost, right?
- 20:46[SPEAKER_02]: That's just like you gotta close that up.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_04]: It's cost you games.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, the indie game is a very obvious one with a stupid penalty.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, especially when they're kicking a 60 plus yarder, which I mean, those are getting easier for kickers these days.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, somebody made a 68 yarder this last weekend.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_04]: Thankfully, it was against the Raiders.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_04]: But still.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_04]: The odds are most kickers are going to miss that on a 50, 50 basis at least more and a brand new kicker to the league you hadn't kicked anything over I think it was like 45 yards at that point.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_04]: And you go and do something like that to give him an extra chance just stupid like you said that's the like the pulling of the hair out thing I know you have your hair out I don't but.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_04]: It's just mental mistakes that keep costing this team.
- 21:37[SPEAKER_04]: So we'll move on from it because, like I said, Broncos are seven and two.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_04]: Best we've been in a very, very long time, leading the division.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_04]: Almost 16 minutes.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, six game winning streak.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_04]: So we can't complain a whole lot.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_04]: It's just when you see that this could be what cost you in the future.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_04]: Like I said, in the playoffs, where one bad mistake on special teams could be the maker break of a game.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_04]: You've got to clean this up sooner than later.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_02]: No doubt about that did see David T coming in here coming off through surgeries wanted to give you a shout out David hope you're doing well.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_02]: That's a lot of time.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_02]: with recovery and hanging out with doctors, and I work with doctors so I can tell you that's too much for me.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_02]: So shout out to you, hope you're doing well.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_02]: Hopefully the Broncos didn't let you down today, not make it a move.
- 22:25[SPEAKER_02]: We got Donald, almost dead coming in, saw you on Twitter earlier, Donald, good to see you.
- 22:30[SPEAKER_02]: So good evening, guys.
- 22:30[SPEAKER_02]: Two months for a while, it was too much.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_02]: I like the guys we have, and there's guys like Jeremy Bernard and Shedik Khan that will help sustain us.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_02]: These must be two guys coming up in the draft.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_02]: potentially is it is a sedic the organ tied I'm still bad at names.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_02]: It's an organ tied end who's really good.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know who drew Jeremy Bernard is off the top of my head.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_02]: The big four wide receivers right now are hate, lemon, obviously the uh...
- 22:57[SPEAKER_02]: eras Tyson from Arizona State and then Bell I think Bell from Louisville, but I got to say, you know, Broncos playing really well right now and I have not spent too much time on the draft yet that'll be coming here pretty soon winter can get long, but the edge Jeremy Bernard, oh wait a second, Jeremy Bernard slot receiver from Alabama.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, there you go.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_02]: No, he's he's fine.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_02]: He's more of a day to day to you guys probably say I have watched them, but I think that's a probably more of yeah a solid slot slash he but doesn't really bring that explosive element to man he's He's cliche and one of those like hard work and kind of guys so he's he's a smart good player.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I think that the part that for you and me.
- 23:43[SPEAKER_04]: with the trade deadline is the Broncos really do have an incredible chance this year.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_04]: And you just don't get these kind of chances very often in the NFL, especially when you're in the same division with Justin Herbert and Patrick Mahomes.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_04]: It's going to be tough to stay at the top of the division over and over and over and over again.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_04]: And so when you've gotten opportunity
- 24:10[SPEAKER_04]: they're a little bit down.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_04]: The AFC in general is down right now.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_04]: You know, you've got Andy that's up there.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_04]: Patriots, I'm still trying to figure out, are they really real or is it just their schedules been this easy?
- 24:22[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not in court.
- 24:23[SPEAKER_02]: They do.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_02]: They'll be a tough out.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_04]: So like I said, there's no clear cut.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_04]: Hey, this is the best team in the AFC right now.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_04]: And the Broncos going to have that argument.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_04]: So I,
- 24:37[SPEAKER_04]: It's just hard when you've got that opportunity and like it's getting the first the number one seed every game have to be played in Denver for that defense that would be fun watching quarterbacks after to not have go nope.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_04]: You're not being able to snap the ball without just having a clap or or whatever.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_04]: That would be nice for our defense talking about nice we got Ralph coming in.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_04]: Say, and call them, or Nick, what's up, buddies?
- 25:02[SPEAKER_04]: Nick, that baby of yours is the cutest thing ever.
- 25:05[SPEAKER_04]: Thanks, Ralph.
- 25:06[SPEAKER_04]: George Payton doesn't like to give up any draft capital which is frustrating.
- 25:09[SPEAKER_04]: Breeze Hall could have been ours for a third.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_04]: Would you give up, save you on Jones for Breeze, Effing Hall?
- 25:16[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think the Broncos were in the market for a running back.
- 25:20[SPEAKER_02]: JK Dobbs has played pretty well and RJ Harvey's what's tied for third in the league and touched down as for rookies.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_02]: Now Granite needs to run the ball better, but I think after Harvey's emergence has a past catcher, Denver really wasn't in the market for a.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_02]: I'm running back.
- 25:38[SPEAKER_02]: I believe now wide receiver.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_02]: I guess we can, you know, talk about it here.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_02]: Everybody's talked about it.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_02]: Sean Payton in the coach speak.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_02]: I've never seen the coach speak index Twitter account, but he talked about, oh, we, you know, I heard about that.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_02]: That's kind of silly.
- 25:50[SPEAKER_02]: We like the guys we have here.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_02]: Of course you say that after you don't make a move.
- 25:54[SPEAKER_02]: What's a coach going to say?
- 25:55[SPEAKER_02]: It's like when they come to the draft, oh, we have the number one guy in our on our board every single time we picked.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_02]: And we couldn't believe it was there.
- 26:01[SPEAKER_02]: Uh-huh.
- 26:02[SPEAKER_02]: That's great.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_02]: We got three first round grades on the the whole draft.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_02]: Uh-huh.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_02]: Sure, but I'd Broncos.
- 26:11[SPEAKER_02]: They were looking to make some wide receiver moves, it seemed like, while it was the one, I didn't hear the two firsts, which we had from Donald talking about that.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_02]: I heard a first and a plus was, I think, first and a third is probably a lot.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_02]: I would have given up the first, I think, given where Denver's gonna be picking the years of control with him and just he's a totally different skill set than the guys you have more of a proven commodity.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_02]: And it winds up with your offensive line defense and the rookie cost control quarterback.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_02]: A first and a three though.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_02]: Could I, could I interest you and try Franklin instead, like maybe then I'll do that, but and nothing.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_02]: I think Franklin's trash.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_02]: It's just that extra years of cost control and guys getting pushed down target share, all that stuff.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_02]: So.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_02]: It is what it is.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_02]: I do think this is not based on anything I heard, but I do think Carl that the Broncos were in on at least calling about Garrett Wilson after the jets were a fire sail, obviously, or somewhat, you're selling like crazy today, jets.
- 27:10[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think they're looking to get rid of their young offensive talent because they're trying to build a good infrastructure for their quarterback.
- 27:17[SPEAKER_02]: So they are selling on defense not so much on offense.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_02]: Garrett
- 27:24[SPEAKER_02]: I think Denver was probably interested in Rashid Shahid for the Saints as well, but the fourth and the fifth from the Seahawks get it done.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_02]: So those are your three right there as you alluded to earlier Carl.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_02]: I'll just tell you what I heard and it's been from multiple people.
- 27:39[SPEAKER_02]: So maybe it's all the same source and the feet and down to multiple people and then to us as well, whatever.
- 27:43[SPEAKER_02]: But the Broncos did allegedly have a deal in place for former second round pick at Oregon State Titan, Luke Musgrave with the Packers, and then Tucker Craft suffers a season ending Achilles, ACL Achilles injury.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_02]: How do you get those two confused?
- 27:59[SPEAKER_02]: Another different, but like I can never remember which one is which one the injury happens, but if that injury happened, deal pulled off the table.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_02]: So there goes Denver's chance at a low-round pick for a Titan upgrade.
- 28:11[SPEAKER_02]: And that's that Denver sounds like they were pretty aggressive with pursuing water, but the, they weren't willing to give up that first plus at the end of the day, and therefore you like the guys that you have, and we do have a Troy Franklin quote, I want to get into in a bit, because he was asked about him, he's probably the guy who had been the most upset with the move, but yeah, it's easy.
- 28:32[SPEAKER_02]: I'll thank you Michael for that, but yeah, no, no move at the end of the day.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_02]: I don't mind it too much, but it is, it's not as exciting today for sure.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_04]: I think it's tough when you had so many of the national media guys going like, yep, Broncos looking like they're going to do something.
- 28:48[SPEAKER_04]: You know, I get it as fans will go a little bit crazy with some of the stuff.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_04]: But when the national guys are going up, I think it was closer than people realize.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_04]: I think it really is though, like I said, when the jets were getting so much in return.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_04]: So it wasn't like a true fire sale.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_04]: It was, no, we're getting really good return.
- 29:07[SPEAKER_04]: for the players that were like, yes, these guys are talented, but for a team that's in complete rebuild mode at this point.
- 29:13[SPEAKER_04]: And as you said, named who probably surrounded a new quarterback with more than what they have right now, the trades made sense for them.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_04]: I'm with you.
- 29:25[SPEAKER_04]: Who would you rather had?
- 29:26[SPEAKER_04]: Water or Garrett Wilson?
- 29:30[SPEAKER_02]: of I would need to look at the contracts side by side, but whichever one costs it less, I think Wilson brings more of a explosive steamer element, like getting his the ball on his hands and some of the screens and whatnot and decompressing the defense, he's better at tracking the football vertically, than MIMS or Franklin right now.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_02]: Wilson's much more refined, I, I.
- 29:57[SPEAKER_02]: Philip Wattles probably better for Bonix right now, but maybe two, three years or now Wilson would be better.
- 30:03[SPEAKER_02]: Now that's giving everyone's cheaper.
- 30:05[SPEAKER_02]: I think they're both fantastic.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_04]: But you're right, I do think the Broncos were actively trying to get something done.
- 30:13[SPEAKER_04]: And they recognize they have a problem on this team.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_04]: And I had somebody on Twitter because I had said something about the Broncos missing
- 30:26[SPEAKER_04]: And they said, well, what about Bonyx?
- 30:28[SPEAKER_04]: And I was like, well, yes, he is a problem.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_04]: He's not been perfect.
- 30:32[SPEAKER_04]: He's had some great moments.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_04]: He's got some great things to his game that you can build around.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_04]: But there are some things that he needs to fix to.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_04]: But you're not fixing the quarterback position in the trade deadline.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_04]: You can fix a little bit of your weapons issue and bring it in a guy like Wattel or Garrett Wilson and giving you a little bit more of a consistent number two
- 30:55[SPEAKER_04]: Even in some ways, maybe your number one, I mean, right now, if you traded for a water, he would be the leading receiver on this team.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_04]: Statistically, he's got better statistics than Sutton right now.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_02]: Some of that's obviously the defense on one side and play in ball control where versus, you know.
- 31:18[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_04]: I'm saying it's not like a true number one sudden true number two.
- 31:23[SPEAKER_04]: It's hey, now you've got true weapons on the outside that you can work with and you can tap on two top 25 wide receivers right and and they can help clean up some things that have been a problem.
- 31:34[SPEAKER_04]: Yes,
- 31:44[SPEAKER_04]: everybody gets to that dreaded word potential.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_04]: Like, well, frankly, and he took this really big step.
- 31:48[SPEAKER_04]: Maybe you can take another step.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_04]: And I get that, but you're also missing an opportunity this year.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_04]: You don't know what that's going to be next year.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_04]: Maybe he takes a step back next year.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_04]: That's happened before.
- 32:02[SPEAKER_04]: You know, MIMS is he ever going to become more than just a special teams returner slash
- 32:10[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not banking on that he's gonna be more than that right now.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_04]: Brian's probably the guy I have the most hope of actually being a real contributor on this offense consistently moving forward.
- 32:20[SPEAKER_04]: I really like his game.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_04]: Not only is it a run blocker, but I love his hands.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_04]: I think he's probably got the best hands on the team.
- 32:27[SPEAKER_04]: And then like I said, Ingram, he's got to become a much bigger part of this because they haven't made this trade.
- 32:33[SPEAKER_04]: But that's where I'm just missing out on water.
- 32:37[SPEAKER_04]: Like I said, I was not gonna be willing to give up more
- 32:40[SPEAKER_04]: was really hoping that it'd only cost a second.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_04]: Miami pretty much was like, no, it's gonna be a first.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_04]: And I get it.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_04]: He's 26 years old.
- 32:49[SPEAKER_04]: You've got him for the next four or five years as a really good receiver for you.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_04]: And so they had a piece.
- 32:56[SPEAKER_04]: They're not gonna let him go for nothing.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_04]: But I just think the Broncos, I'm really worried about how they're gonna make this offense really functional to go win a championship.
- 33:08[SPEAKER_02]: It's gonna come down to the quarterback at the end of the day.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_02]: He's got to play more consistent.
- 33:13[SPEAKER_02]: And we have the fourth quarter of stuff, which has been great and there's been flashes of course, but the down-to-down consistency hasn't been there yet.
- 33:23[SPEAKER_02]: But it can be.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_02]: I think you watched the tape, some of it's close.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_02]: So we will see how that plays out.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_02]: Again, I would've been fine given up the first time with you, the first plus Garrett Wilson bottle.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, my dream would've been,
- 33:39[SPEAKER_02]: two verses, let's see, I can't land a pick up the phone.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_02]: What's going on with Drake London, you haven't paid him yet.
- 33:44[SPEAKER_02]: We'll happily pay him, Scott.
- 33:46[SPEAKER_02]: God, he's unbelievable, he'd be incredible in Denver, because he just blocks his butt off.
- 33:50[SPEAKER_02]: He'd Michael Thomas, re-incarn him with West attitude.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_02]: He's a hell of a player, but Denver didn't make a move.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_02]: We'll see what happens.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_02]: And we do have some quotes here from Troy Franklin, specifically, who, the water move probably,
- 34:03[SPEAKER_02]: would have eaten most into his role on this offense.
- 34:05[SPEAKER_02]: Pat Bryan's a different kind of player.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_02]: Men's has the special team's gadget role, which model would have eaten into some of it.
- 34:11[SPEAKER_02]: But really, that's the Troy Franklin.
- 34:14[SPEAKER_02]: And Troy Franklin did have a comment.
- 34:16[SPEAKER_02]: Shout out to Luca Evans.
- 34:19[SPEAKER_02]: He had a comment for him.
- 34:20[SPEAKER_02]: He asked him if he felt the team's decision to not trade for a wide receiver showed confidence in him in the young receivers.
- 34:26[SPEAKER_02]: Troy Franklin said, Hell, yeah, I think it gives everybody confidence, not that we're worried about somebody coming to take our job or anything.
- 34:33[SPEAKER_02]: And we can just really go out there and play.
- 34:36[SPEAKER_02]: He's been telling us that he loves this team.
- 34:38[SPEAKER_02]: He got everything he wants in the building and he's kept his words.
- 34:41[SPEAKER_02]: So, I mean, I just got off of Sean's word.
- 34:43[SPEAKER_02]: He told us that we got everything we need in this building and pretty much all that.
- 34:46[SPEAKER_02]: The Broncos need other receivers outside speculation.
- 34:49[SPEAKER_02]: So it's really not coming from the building.
- 34:52[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, Troy.
- 34:53[SPEAKER_02]: I think the call might have been coming from inside the house, Denver.
- 34:57[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, there's also this is not as substantiated as obviously all the rumors about looking for libraries to this trade deadline, but there's been some rumors that the Broncos got sniped potentially with the 20th pick, uh, not thinking the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would be taking a boooka at 19 and uh, oh, that's that was our guy.
- 35:15[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, that one's again.
- 35:15[SPEAKER_02]: That's not as substantiated as all these people talk about the Broncos trying to make a move for a wide receiver.
- 35:21[SPEAKER_02]: You, they didn't make a move.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_02]: Troy, Mims, pat.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_02]: Step up, I know it's not all on them at the end of the day, but you have a golden opportunity now.
- 35:31[SPEAKER_02]: And if the level of play we've gotten through the first nine games of the season is the baseline for the next eight, that you're ass.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_02]: They're looking for a wide receiver and adding to the room draft trading for a guy.
- 35:46[SPEAKER_02]: It's not good enough right now for where this team is at and what they need around the quarterback.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_04]: But what is good enough is DW coming in once again now with the orange loving the orange says we have a shot postseason but it's hard to feel good about our chances when lack of discipline shows up well coach discipline teams with talent when super bowls still a lot of coaching to do we have time to work it out yeah I always think of the the Patriots all those years.
- 36:15[SPEAKER_04]: The most maddening thing was most games they just waited for the
- 36:22[SPEAKER_04]: They just were so well coached, well disciplined.
- 36:25[SPEAKER_04]: Some of that's they also cheated to get there as well, but they didn't make the mistake.
- 36:30[SPEAKER_04]: They didn't make the turnover.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_04]: They didn't have the bad special teams play.
- 36:33[SPEAKER_04]: They didn't have to waste a time out that other teams would waste because not the right personnel were on the field.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_04]: all those kind of things.
- 36:41[SPEAKER_04]: They just, they focused on the little details and Trump Payton's usually been for the most part of the little details other than like he lets his guys play a little bit loose and leads to some bad penalties.
- 36:53[SPEAKER_04]: But the special teams problems, I think have been the biggest thing for me.
- 36:59[SPEAKER_04]: Like I said, there's been other things that have happened that the defense of penalties don't bother me as much.
- 37:04[SPEAKER_04]: Because it's going to come with the brand of defense that you play when you are playing this aggressive getting after the quarterback playing this much man coverage, you're going to have some of these kind of penalties to happen and some of them, it's getting frustrating because the officials are just really looking for it with the Broncos, especially Riley Moss and some other column things that I don't think they'd call on every corner back.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_04]: But you're right, DW, they've got to get more discipline.
- 37:31[SPEAKER_04]: They've got to stop wasting opportunities because stupid penalties stop drives from happening on offense, or giving more opportunities on defense.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_04]: And like I said, special teams, it is just, it is maddening where the Broncos go down the score and then they give off a giant kickoff return that gets them right into field gold position already for the other team.
- 37:52[SPEAKER_04]: And you've already put your defense in a bad position, the Houston.
- 37:58[SPEAKER_04]: The defense played that game where it pretty much used and should have only scored like six points.
- 38:04[SPEAKER_04]: But because of turnovers and bad special teams, it kept putting them in just such a negative position that they had no choice but to give up three points.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_04]: You know, unless they got a turnover.
- 38:15[SPEAKER_04]: And so I know, we got eight weeks to figure out if they can get to a better place.
- 38:20[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not 100% sure that'll happen though.
- 38:23[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 38:24[SPEAKER_02]: Time to figure it out.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_02]: Good to see you, DW, appreciate you so much.
- 38:27[SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, the young one perceivers.
- 38:30[SPEAKER_02]: Right now they're more potential than realization.
- 38:32[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you look at the advanced statistics, whether it be totally PA, targets per out and per run, yards per out run, they're outside the top 50 and every single one and not granted.
- 38:44[SPEAKER_02]: Is it the wide receiver's fault?
- 38:45[SPEAKER_02]: Is it the quarterback's fault?
- 38:46[SPEAKER_02]: It's somebody's fault at the end of the day.
- 38:49[SPEAKER_02]: So I'll leave that for the chat to decide where you want to place blame for the down and down efficiency and some of the consistency that the past game doesn't have right now.
- 39:00[SPEAKER_02]: The one thing I really love about having this first round pick and yes, we can talk about the weapons and all that stuff at the end of the day, why receiver they're sexy, but what's making this team seven and two right now, what's their identity is they probably are one of the top three if not the best team in the trenches on both sides of the Balkan bind.
- 39:20[SPEAKER_02]: And you have your first round pick.
- 39:22[SPEAKER_02]: You kept all your assets.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_02]: The offensive line is getting older.
- 39:25[SPEAKER_02]: You probably want to get an infusion of talent there.
- 39:28[SPEAKER_02]: You're set to lose two of your top four interior defense of linemen.
- 39:31[SPEAKER_02]: We'll see if anything comes to that.
- 39:33[SPEAKER_02]: But the web receivers are always fun.
- 39:36[SPEAKER_02]: It's actually big stats, fanitical ball, that.
- 39:39[SPEAKER_02]: The identity of this team is the trenches.
- 39:41[SPEAKER_02]: So you have your first round pick.
- 39:44[SPEAKER_02]: five picks in the top four rounds, you can continue to invest on that side of the ball.
- 39:50[SPEAKER_02]: So yes, wide receiver, this season, needle mover.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_02]: I'm here for the identity, continue to be invested and even if it's at the cost of some dynamism on the perimeter.
- 40:01[SPEAKER_02]: So what's the bangles getting right now from having those guys?
- 40:04[SPEAKER_02]: Now much, I get them blown up in the line of skirmish.
- 40:08[SPEAKER_02]: Corebacks getting bigger.
- 40:09[SPEAKER_02]: It'd be great to have.
- 40:10[SPEAKER_02]: No doubt, it'd be great to have, but it starts upfront.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I'm with you, you want to keep those units strong, especially if Bonax is going to be your guy, he needs good protection.
- 40:27[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, not only to keep him healthy, but I think he's a much, much better quarterback, obviously when he's protected, and then the run game too.
- 40:35[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, we're getting to play, getting ready to play Ashen Genty.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_04]: Should be a top 10 running back in football, and maybe he is.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_04]: but we really don't know because that offensive line is so bad in front of him.
- 40:47[SPEAKER_04]: He stands no chance.
- 40:49[SPEAKER_04]: He's getting hit in the backfield.
- 40:50[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know how many times.
- 40:52[SPEAKER_04]: And pretty much half in a break, two, three tackles, just to pick up four yards.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_04]: Great news for the Broncos this week, but I think part of what's getting JK Dobbins to go, now he's always been a good running back, but still he's getting some really good lanes to run through.
- 41:07[SPEAKER_04]: They're getting better as this season goes on.
- 41:09[SPEAKER_04]: That's what's been really nice to see.
- 41:11[SPEAKER_04]: They're figuring each other out.
- 41:13[SPEAKER_04]: And hopefully, you can get RJ Harvey going on a little bit more consistent basis with the run game, not just in the past game.
- 41:19[SPEAKER_04]: And then all of a sudden, you really take off with the run game.
- 41:21[SPEAKER_04]: And but like I said, bonus, having that kind of protection, huge asset for him.
- 41:27[SPEAKER_04]: And the nice thing is, you could probably draft a guy that you think can play tackle, put him at the left guard spot.
- 41:33[SPEAKER_04]: plenty of guys have done that to start off their NFL career, start on the inside, work their way to the outside as another player gets older and you've got two tackles, like I said, they're getting a little bit up in age, contracts are big and you're gonna have to figure out something to do there eventually.
- 41:49[SPEAKER_04]: And so I'm good with that.
- 41:51[SPEAKER_04]: I'm even good at adding to the defensive line.
- 41:53[SPEAKER_04]: You're maybe gonna lose DJ or not DJ Jones.
- 41:57[SPEAKER_04]: John Frank, the Myers or Malcolm Roach.
- 42:00[SPEAKER_04]: and you want to keep yeah and or I don't know I hope they sign at least one of those guys.
- 42:06[SPEAKER_04]: I mean I I would love John Franklin Myers to come back.
- 42:09[SPEAKER_04]: Really I love both of them, but John Franklin Myers I think he is one of the most underrated players on in the NFL right now.
- 42:17[SPEAKER_04]: That I live in the backfield.
- 42:18[SPEAKER_04]: It is just it is so fun to watch him play football.
- 42:21[SPEAKER_04]: And as much as I love Savion Jones and think that he can become a plus player.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_04]: He's not John Franklin Myers, that's for sure.
- 42:28[SPEAKER_04]: So we'll have to see what happens there.
- 42:30[SPEAKER_04]: But yeah, you need to keep that unit strong too, where you have a great rotation coming in and the Broncos can keep this great past rush that is just dominating up front, moving forward.
- 42:41[SPEAKER_04]: And we got a film will go off and come and back in, saying two things I really want to see happen, special teams actually plays good, and D actually gets some turnovers.
- 42:49[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's the one thing that this defense is missing so far this year.
- 42:55[SPEAKER_04]: I'm trying to think of how many interceptions who Fonga has dropped now this year.
- 43:01[SPEAKER_04]: I could think about at least three, maybe four.
- 43:02[SPEAKER_03]: Four.
- 43:03[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 43:05[SPEAKER_04]: And I mean, he has been a godsim for the Stevens.
- 43:10[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, how many times have we talked, especially the Bill's game last year?
- 43:15[SPEAKER_04]: That was part of what I talked about with,
- 43:18[SPEAKER_04]: When we lost the bill, so what was part of the problem?
- 43:20[SPEAKER_04]: Receivers dropping balls in that game.
- 43:22[SPEAKER_04]: I think we had five drops in that game that were all of them were right around the first down marker, could have kept drives going, maybe that changes the game, and then middle of the field play.
- 43:33[SPEAKER_04]: PJ Lock was not good last year in that game.
- 43:36[SPEAKER_04]: Linebackers were terrible.
- 43:37[SPEAKER_04]: Now you've got Green Law who was playing lightsound at least in the couple games he's played in.
- 43:42[SPEAKER_04]: Kufanga has been
- 43:45[SPEAKER_04]: Other, I mean, you've got your tan, but you can make the argument right now.
- 43:49[SPEAKER_04]: Ufanga, I guess I can't forget Nick Benito either.
- 43:55[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, there's just so many really good players, like you could make the argument, all these guys are deserving of an all-pro season right now.
- 44:02[SPEAKER_04]: they're playing at that kind of level.
- 44:04[SPEAKER_04]: And so I love having Fonga, he's flying around the field, great coming down for the run, doing great in coverage.
- 44:12[SPEAKER_04]: And that's part of what has really changed the dynamic of this defense compared to last year.
- 44:18[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, Hafanga, green line, everybody, I mean, the continuity too, right?
- 44:22[SPEAKER_02]: So you're three with fans Joseph for a lot of these guys.
- 44:26[SPEAKER_02]: So they are really great on defense.
- 44:29[SPEAKER_02]: The big thing is they need to start
- 44:32[SPEAKER_02]: real test coming up here but it can't overlook the Raiders as well.
- 44:36[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe Gina Smith can turn up turn on the
- 44:39[SPEAKER_02]: take away a giveaway faucet here and we can write that through to the chiefs game as well, but in Mario to after that, because man he's, I'll never forget the Falcons at Carolina Game when he threw it backwards off his head.
- 44:54[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, one of the worst Thursdays I ever saw in my life, what the hell are you doing, Mario to?
- 44:58[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, I'd love to see his best teams play better in the defense start take the ball away.
- 45:02[SPEAKER_02]: It also like to see
- 45:03[SPEAKER_02]: I think some of it was scheme, I don't know, again, Sean Payton's press conference today.
- 45:07[SPEAKER_02]: I think it was Sean, maybe it was Joe Lombardi, but he mentioned that Houston had been much more of a cover four, two high team this season, and they got a lot more single high safety than they expected, and that might have changed the plan, but when it's put the ball on harm's way, a lot in this game.
- 45:22[SPEAKER_02]: That was pretty lucky that Bonix didn't have three in their sessions.
- 45:25[SPEAKER_02]: You can do that with a lot of quarterbacks here.
- 45:26[SPEAKER_02]: They're just talking about this single sample.
- 45:29[SPEAKER_02]: But,
- 45:29[SPEAKER_02]: got to protect the freaking football as well.
- 45:32[SPEAKER_02]: That's a tried and true method.
- 45:34[SPEAKER_02]: And then what I'll have to go back Carl and maybe do a little bit of analysis here, but it goes with takeaways and it goes with special teams.
- 45:41[SPEAKER_02]: and not be many games this year where the Broncos have a head and advantage in starting fuel position.
- 45:46[SPEAKER_02]: Now, Krasha has helped with that a bit, but when you're not taking the ball away, which is like the number one way to get great special fuel position, and you have so many terrible kick-offs and plant returns and penalties on special teams, you're going to lose the starting fuel position.
- 46:01[SPEAKER_02]: And that's just, it's got to drive Shonpatin insane.
- 46:04[SPEAKER_02]: It's driving me insane.
- 46:06[SPEAKER_02]: So all those kind of go together, but I, I would be pretty surprised if Denver wasn't bottom
- 46:11[SPEAKER_02]: third or fourth in the league in starting field position because of the issues they've had with special teams and the lack of takeaways.
- 46:19[SPEAKER_04]: I wouldn't be shocked either.
- 46:21[SPEAKER_04]: I, I would almost bed on it at this point.
- 46:24[SPEAKER_04]: So somebody in the chat once find that out for us that we would greatly appreciate it.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_04]: But I do think the turnover will start to come.
- 46:33[SPEAKER_04]: I hope so.
- 46:34[SPEAKER_04]: They've had opportunities.
- 46:35[SPEAKER_04]: I mean,
- 46:38[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, you think about that giant scheme.
- 46:40[SPEAKER_04]: Before the passenger ferrets that got the giants in this scoring position, they had two dropped interceptions.
- 46:45[SPEAKER_04]: Sir TAN dropped one, who found a drop one, or I guess Joan dropped that one, and who found a kind of cable over and hit him.
- 46:53[SPEAKER_04]: But so they had those opportunities as last game, who found a had at least two or three opportunities for interceptions dropped him.
- 47:00[SPEAKER_04]: I remember he had one where he's rushing the quarterback and the quarterback just threw it right at his head and it just bounced off his hands.
- 47:08[SPEAKER_04]: some things that you look at and say, man, how does that change the game?
- 47:11[SPEAKER_04]: Instead of having to have this fourth quarter party act moment, wondering if we're gonna be able to make the comeback, maybe it ends in a blowout, if that's going on.
- 47:20[SPEAKER_04]: And, you know, Houston, maybe that's not quite the game that it was if they get a couple of those turnovers and they often says an opportunity, pick six, man, we haven't seen one of those for a while.
- 47:33[SPEAKER_04]: Sir Pan, the last one against the Raiders,
- 47:38[SPEAKER_04]: or no, round game.
- 47:41[SPEAKER_02]: The Browns game had one and the Colts game, that was a fumble return for touch on technically, right?
- 47:46[SPEAKER_02]: Like that was the one as well, but it was actually a fumble because it was a backwards pass.
- 47:49[SPEAKER_02]: That Benito picked off.
- 47:51[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, yeah, I think you're right.
- 47:52[SPEAKER_02]: I think I think the Colts, yeah, the great thing to get an even with your own over.
- 47:55[SPEAKER_02]: I would, they're hitting the quarterback so much.
- 47:57[SPEAKER_02]: Can we get a strip sack for God's sake?
- 47:59[SPEAKER_02]: Like what's going on?
- 48:01[SPEAKER_04]: Well, yeah, I don't know how they're,
- 48:03[SPEAKER_04]: There's been so many times like I watched the ball moving in the quarterback's hand, but they just hold on to it every single time, karate chop, baby.
- 48:10[SPEAKER_02]: Come on, let's go on on.
- 48:11[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 48:12[SPEAKER_04]: But what is going on?
- 48:13[SPEAKER_04]: Michael, come back in saying gray show tonight, Nick and Carl, I'm building the Broncos, Gobo Broncos.
- 48:18[SPEAKER_04]: Thank you, again, Michael, for coming in with all the support.
- 48:22[SPEAKER_04]: And yeah, I mean, as disappointed as I am in today, I'm not disappointed in the Broncos.
- 48:28[SPEAKER_04]: Maybe I've been a little too negative just because I'm a little bit let down by the trade deadline and not making at least a little bit of a move.
- 48:36[SPEAKER_04]: But at the same time, I'm loving this team.
- 48:38[SPEAKER_04]: I love the way that they play for the most part.
- 48:41[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, they got to get more disciplined.
- 48:43[SPEAKER_04]: But they're flying around the field.
- 48:46[SPEAKER_04]: They find a way to win games.
- 48:48[SPEAKER_04]: Last year, they found ways to lose games.
- 48:50[SPEAKER_04]: I think Zach Allen was talking about that not too long ago.
- 48:54[SPEAKER_04]: I think what were they like, one in
- 48:56[SPEAKER_04]: One in six last year in one score games and this year they are five and two five and two.
- 49:05[SPEAKER_02]: That tends to be 500 over a long enough sample size.
- 49:07[SPEAKER_02]: So I should normalize hopefully we beat the car out of the Raiders.
- 49:11[SPEAKER_02]: We can get start stacking some
- 49:13[SPEAKER_02]: You know, more than one score wins here, but just because that's better for the perspective of the team going for about a wins a wins a win just know that that always kind of tends to even out over time I do have some stats here for you call the Broncos have the ninth worst average starting field position for the offense so far this team the season.
- 49:32[SPEAKER_02]: very few teams with winning records are actually better than the Broncos on that front.
- 49:37[SPEAKER_02]: So that's something to keep an eye on.
- 49:39[SPEAKER_02]: The starting field position has just been simply put not good enough.
- 49:42[SPEAKER_02]: The Broncos actually, this is a per drive step of, they're tied for the second worst takeaways per drive of any team in football this season.
- 49:50[SPEAKER_02]: So let's turn that fossil on boys.
- 49:53[SPEAKER_02]: There's some room to grow.
- 49:54[SPEAKER_02]: This room to improve there.
- 49:56[SPEAKER_02]: The defense of the flying great
- 50:01[SPEAKER_02]: So Michael Ronkeo, great to see.
- 50:02[SPEAKER_02]: I thank you so much Michael, great show today.
- 50:04[SPEAKER_02]: Summit says hi.
- 50:05[SPEAKER_02]: I know Michael always loves to say hello to Summit as well.
- 50:09[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, do want to get out of here, pretty soon.
- 50:11[SPEAKER_02]: Broncos, obviously, don't make a move.
- 50:13[SPEAKER_02]: They stand pat.
- 50:14[SPEAKER_02]: Sounds like they were aggressively pursuing a model, but the cost was too much in the end, is what it is.
- 50:21[SPEAKER_02]: That to me means the wide receiver room.
- 50:23[SPEAKER_02]: We like the guys we have for the costs that was available again.
- 50:26[SPEAKER_02]: I think Wattles top 10 borderline, top 10, honestly.
- 50:31[SPEAKER_02]: I think the watch receivers aren't notice for the play for the rest of the season for off season positional upgrade watch.
- 50:37[SPEAKER_02]: They're young.
- 50:38[SPEAKER_02]: There's the dreaded P word potential, but I mean, we'll see.
- 50:42[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you got eight games here and.
- 50:45[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, Denver excited.
- 50:46[SPEAKER_02]: I guess this is still last game here.
- 50:48[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to take the Broncos beating the Raiders, I think it's going to be kind of a boring game and Denver is going to control a good boring control the pace of the game.
- 50:56[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to go Denver winning this one 27 to 13.
- 51:00[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's not there's not going to be a lot of positions Denver has long drives and they just control it.
- 51:05[SPEAKER_02]: It's not going to be a massive high flying output from the offense, but from like a per position.
- 51:10[SPEAKER_04]: Good game.
- 51:17[SPEAKER_02]: Like I said, I think, do what four touchdowns.
- 51:21[SPEAKER_02]: My fantasy team won't like that.
- 51:22[SPEAKER_02]: I got lots who's on the angry port today with an illness.
- 51:24[SPEAKER_02]: So we'll be watching out of that.
- 51:26[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, no, I just think one of the Raiders defense, I don't think they're going to be great.
- 51:31[SPEAKER_04]: I think the offense is going to get things going in the first half.
- 51:33[SPEAKER_04]: Score 21 of their points in the first half.
- 51:35[SPEAKER_04]: Second half, they're just going to really go into the run game, control that clock, move the ball,
- 51:43[SPEAKER_04]: just don't think they fear this Raiders' offense.
- 51:46[SPEAKER_04]: They're okay.
- 51:47[SPEAKER_04]: They do have a couple weapons.
- 51:48[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not trying to say that they're terrible, but this offensive line, not good.
- 51:53[SPEAKER_04]: Broncos should be getting after Gino Smith.
- 51:55[SPEAKER_04]: And when you get after him, you can force some big turnovers from him.
- 51:59[SPEAKER_04]: He gets jumpy.
- 52:00[SPEAKER_04]: And this year he's been not great in that department.
- 52:03[SPEAKER_04]: He's been turned the ball over.
- 52:05[SPEAKER_04]: bad as much as any quarterback out there.
- 52:06[SPEAKER_04]: So I do think the Broncos could force couple turnovers, maybe get a couple easy scores that way.
- 52:11[SPEAKER_04]: And you're right, I think this is one of those games, Broncos.
- 52:15[SPEAKER_04]: Don't wait until the last second to win the game.
- 52:19[SPEAKER_02]: No injuries.
- 52:20[SPEAKER_02]: That's a big one.
- 52:21[SPEAKER_02]: It's the get-a-dub and sitting there eight and two would feel really good.
- 52:26[SPEAKER_02]: It could really step on the throats of the chiefs.
- 52:28[SPEAKER_02]: If you win that next one, Denver will not be favorite, I think,
- 52:33[SPEAKER_02]: Andy reads record coming off a buys like 24 and 4 or something unbelievable, but you know, this is the games you want to be in.
- 52:42[SPEAKER_02]: So trade deadline comes and goes Carl quiet.
- 52:46[SPEAKER_02]: It's all good.
- 52:46[SPEAKER_02]: Denver's got a lot of picks.
- 52:48[SPEAKER_02]: It makes April, March, February, a little bit more fun and enjoyable.
- 52:52[SPEAKER_02]: We'll see.
- 52:52[SPEAKER_02]: I know there was a lot of Denver media saying like, oh, now Denver's going to be aggressive and for you to see.
- 52:58[UNKNOWN]: Up!
- 52:59[SPEAKER_02]: I'm maybe, I would be fine if they were retaining some of their own talent.
- 53:02[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if you looked at the list of free agents.
- 53:05[SPEAKER_02]: It's not exciting and half the top guys are always signed the poor free agency anyway.
- 53:09[SPEAKER_02]: So.
- 53:10[SPEAKER_02]: Octomy when the actual pool is available, but we'll see what happens.
- 53:14[SPEAKER_02]: We'll see what happens.
