- 0:00Speaker 1: Baker has the ball, the rush is already going. You
- 0:03Speaker 1: see how the defense wins there. That's how you combat
- 0:06Speaker 1: against a quarterback with a strong arm, and that's accurate.
- 0:10Speaker 1: What's up, good people. We're back on Blueprint presented by
- 0:13Speaker 1: Microsoft Coppolot, an official AI sponsor of the NFL, and
- 0:18Speaker 1: we're going to talk about Baker Mayfield, some of his toughness,
- 0:21Speaker 1: some of his accuracy, and some of the things that
- 0:24Speaker 1: the defense did to stop some of the great abilities.
- 0:27Speaker 1: We're going to hear from some of the NFL superstars
- 0:29Speaker 1: talking about Baker Mayfield. Let's go to Bayern Young talking
- 0:33Speaker 1: about his arm string here on the Blue Press. Let's
- 0:35Speaker 1: see what he got to say, people.
- 0:37Speaker 2: Bigger man like he the arm sprint is insane. We
- 0:41Speaker 2: knew come into the game that we had to get
- 0:43Speaker 2: really good pressure on him because we knew that if
- 0:44Speaker 2: we just give him time back there to throw like
- 0:46Speaker 2: he would dot you of all game like he was
- 0:48Speaker 2: head tapping you. So we just knew that we had
- 0:50Speaker 2: a good pressure on him. Man Like if he rolled
- 0:51Speaker 2: out the pocket, that's when he's at his best, like
- 0:53Speaker 2: he's he's just gonna let it up. So we just
- 0:55Speaker 2: knew the type of accurate quarterback he is that you know,
- 0:58Speaker 2: you got to make him really young comfortbook. If you don't,
- 1:01Speaker 2: he'll make you pay.
- 1:03Speaker 1: I mean, that's pretty much a good assessment. Baker will
- 1:06Speaker 1: make you pay. They will make you pay. But you
- 1:08Speaker 1: can't just have armstream. You gotta have the accuracy. As
- 1:10Speaker 1: he talked about, let's go to the copolot and the
- 1:14Speaker 1: AI technology that is used on the sideline with all
- 1:17Speaker 1: the coaches and players. I'm gonna use it right here
- 1:19Speaker 1: and show you how simple it is. I'm going to
- 1:21Speaker 1: go to turnovers and the images that we need for
- 1:25Speaker 1: the sideline that the pros use is right here. This
- 1:28Speaker 1: is the final image before the snap starts that you,
- 1:32Speaker 1: as a defender wanna be breaking down. And right now
- 1:35Speaker 1: we have this third down situation here, and you could
- 1:38Speaker 1: see just from the start of this that Detroit was
- 1:42Speaker 1: already putting pressure on Tampa Bank. Look at this one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight,
- 1:52Speaker 1: nine ten. When defenses press guys on the line like this,
- 1:57Speaker 1: they are trying to throw the timing off. You know,
- 2:00Speaker 1: that gives the defensive line a chance to get to
- 2:05Speaker 1: the quarterback too. That helps you in the rush. You know,
- 2:08Speaker 1: if you could throw that timing off. So let's go
- 2:10Speaker 1: to the next image and see how it looks from
- 2:13Speaker 1: this side. That's what Baker sees. You know that go
- 2:16Speaker 1: your safety in the post who've been making plays, got
- 2:20Speaker 1: to know where he's at. As you can see guys
- 2:23Speaker 1: coming off. This receiver's being hit. He's still not even
- 2:28Speaker 1: up the field and Baker has the ball in his hand.
- 2:31Speaker 1: This guy's being hit, he's not really in his route yet,
- 2:36Speaker 1: he haven't made a move and Baker has the ball.
- 2:39Speaker 1: The rush is already going. You see how the defense
- 2:42Speaker 1: wins there. That's how you combat against a quarterback with
- 2:46Speaker 1: a strong arm, and that's accurate pressing moving around. You
- 2:50Speaker 1: gotta do different things. So let's go to the video
- 2:53Speaker 1: so I can show you what happens to play starts.
- 2:56Speaker 1: The defensive line casts some havoc back there. They closed
- 3:00Speaker 1: pocket enough as that pressure gets there and that's forcing
- 3:04Speaker 1: the ball. That's a terrible throw by a good quarterback.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Having armstrength can get a quarterback in trouble. He's not
- 3:11Speaker 1: setting his feet and just relying on your arm strength.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Have you throwing some erratic balls at times? Right here,
- 3:19Speaker 1: you see there is a loaded box safety in the postal.
- 3:24Speaker 1: You know, is man single high some type of thing
- 3:27Speaker 1: right there, and this guy's just reading the quarterback. I mean,
- 3:31Speaker 1: look at that. He is directly where Baker Mayfield is.
- 3:36Speaker 1: With all this chaos going on, Baker lost. How you
- 3:39Speaker 1: not know where the safeties are? I mean, that's a
- 3:41Speaker 1: hell of a play by Detroit. You gotta get hats
- 3:43Speaker 1: off to that player making that play there, hiding in
- 3:46Speaker 1: the hole, not being seen into that D line, getting
- 3:50Speaker 1: pressure in his face to where he can see him.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Watch Baker Mayfield feet. He never really gets set. You
- 3:56Speaker 1: can see he's not comfortable in the pocket. Detroit must
- 3:59Speaker 1: have had him shook. When these guys are pressed, these
- 4:05Speaker 1: guys tend to get pretty coming off the ball, wasting
- 4:08Speaker 1: time right Receivers got to get open, and they got
- 4:12Speaker 1: to get open right now. This is a third down situation.
- 4:16Speaker 1: They're pressing them. They're not even off the ball. Look
- 4:18Speaker 1: at that the receiver at the bottom of the screen
- 4:21Speaker 1: not even five yards up the field. They got one
- 4:23Speaker 1: guy five yards up the field. D line is already
- 4:26Speaker 1: in the full rush and no receivers in their route.
- 4:28Speaker 1: And when the D line could rush like that, that
- 4:32Speaker 1: means coverage could be good. Forcing Baker Mayfield to throw
- 4:36Speaker 1: the ball when he don't want to and we get
- 4:39Speaker 1: the interception. It works hand in hand. I ain't got
- 4:41Speaker 1: plenty interceptions from my d line rushing the quarterback the
- 4:45Speaker 1: blueprint on this. Sometimes it's just about execution. You know,
- 4:49Speaker 1: when guys are playing together, eleven guys on the same accord,
- 4:54Speaker 1: understanding where your help is at, that's what you get.
- 4:57Speaker 1: You get turnovers. I'm about to to man nephew, Mario Davis.
- 5:01Speaker 1: I've been mentoring for some time now, so it's a treat.
- 5:05Speaker 3: A lot of times people see Baker Mayfield and they
- 5:07Speaker 3: may see him make a dynamic play and just see
- 5:11Speaker 3: a general highlight and be like, oh, that was impressive.
- 5:14Speaker 3: But what separates his play from the next guy. Well,
- 5:17Speaker 3: I think number one is his unique mobility inside and
- 5:22Speaker 3: outside the pocket to keep plays alive because he has
- 5:26Speaker 3: a fearlessness inside the pocket. And what you see with
- 5:29Speaker 3: Baker Mayfield is he kind of turns into a running back,
- 5:32Speaker 3: like he makes it hard for the guy that's trying
- 5:34Speaker 3: to sack him to give them and then once he
- 5:37Speaker 3: does that, now he's outside the pocket, and then he
- 5:39Speaker 3: just turns back into a poised quarterback. And he throws
- 5:42Speaker 3: the ball down the field. And the fact that he
- 5:44Speaker 3: does that all the time, it just so happens shows
- 5:46Speaker 3: up in those clutch moments as well, like he doesn't
- 5:50Speaker 3: change in those big moments.
- 5:52Speaker 1: There's so much true to what the Mario just said
- 5:54Speaker 1: about how the play gets extended and now it's another
- 5:57Speaker 1: play going on. You know it go back to sandlot football.
- 6:02Speaker 1: I've been saying this for the longest. Every play becomes
- 6:05Speaker 1: sandlot after three to four seconds. I got that man,
- 6:09Speaker 1: You got that man. But on this blueprint we're talking
- 6:12Speaker 1: about Baker. So you know he has the strength to
- 6:15Speaker 1: throw one of the best balls in the league and
- 6:17Speaker 1: fit it in there. But he can also extend to play,
- 6:21Speaker 1: you know, and do that with his legs. That makes
- 6:24Speaker 1: for a difficult quarterback. Now I'm gonna go to my copolt.
- 6:28Speaker 1: We're gonna go to quarter, We're gonna go the second quarter,
- 6:31Speaker 1: and we're gonna go to play four. It's just that simple.
- 6:33Speaker 1: And as you see the images here, you got another
- 6:36Speaker 1: condensed formations for Tampa Bay. It's a clutch time. You know,
- 6:40Speaker 1: you gotta have your mental toughness up and guys gotta
- 6:43Speaker 1: make plays. We got a bunch of people in the box. One, two, three,
- 6:48Speaker 1: four down Linemen. I believe this guy's going to jam
- 6:51Speaker 1: this tight end. He's pressing him. I got this guy,
- 6:56Speaker 1: he got this second, this guy right here, he has
- 6:59Speaker 1: that guy right. All these guys are working together. Then
- 7:04Speaker 1: man and man look like zero. Honestly, snapper the ball,
- 7:07Speaker 1: he has protection. You got a five man rush coming
- 7:11Speaker 1: at him. So they got a little pressure coming. That
- 7:13Speaker 1: ball should get out of his hand right now, and
- 7:15Speaker 1: we're gonna go to the film here. Now we already
- 7:19Speaker 1: know that they condensed the formation, so there was a
- 7:22Speaker 1: shift in the beginning, all right, So now we're gonna
- 7:24Speaker 1: get to the final formation. And here we go. They
- 7:27Speaker 1: rushed five, so Baker should be thinking to get this
- 7:30Speaker 1: ball out of his hand, right. It's actually a pretty
- 7:33Speaker 1: decent throw from Baker. They sent five people at you.
- 7:37Speaker 1: When we rush five against five five oh line five
- 7:41Speaker 1: D line. What we saying is that one of those
- 7:44Speaker 1: guys needs to win the man on man. As you see,
- 7:46Speaker 1: Philly did that and put pressure on Baker, forcing him
- 7:50Speaker 1: out of the pocket. That's where you see his arm
- 7:53Speaker 1: strength running out of the pocket and still being able
- 7:56Speaker 1: to make that throw while going back I mean he's
- 7:58Speaker 1: holding the receiver or receiver Sield should have caught that ball.
- 8:01Speaker 1: But honestly, this guy right here should be getting the
- 8:06Speaker 1: ball right now. I study quarterbacks all my life. Baker
- 8:10Speaker 1: should throw this ball right now, and he catches that ball. Now,
- 8:14Speaker 1: he's got a great chance to make that play. Not now,
- 8:17Speaker 1: I'm saying that ball had been gone. Don't say now
- 8:20Speaker 1: because of all this right here, the ball had been
- 8:21Speaker 1: gone back here in the person situation, just take the
- 8:24Speaker 1: easy throw, as we say, take what they give me.
- 8:28Speaker 1: I played twelve years in the league. Take the deposits.
- 8:31Speaker 1: You'll never go broke. That's for the quarterback, in for
- 8:34Speaker 1: your pocket. That's the blue player.
