- 0:10Speaker 2: Got a good one for you coming up this evening,
- 0:12Speaker 2: only time the Boston Bruins head into Seattle. That's this evening,
- 0:16Speaker 2: seven o'clock Pacific time at Climate Pledge Arena for the
- 0:19Speaker 2: Cracking and Boston Bruins. We're on air six thirty for
- 0:22Speaker 2: your pregame show served up by Frostbrew, Course Light Choose
- 0:25Speaker 2: Chill on the Global Credit Union Cracking Audio Network. This
- 0:29Speaker 2: is Cracking this morning on a Tuesday, January sixth Mike
- 0:32Speaker 2: Benton with you, and we'll have Jeff Baker joining us
- 0:35Speaker 2: here in just a bit, VP of editorial for the
- 0:38Speaker 2: Seattle Cracking, and again you can also find this work
- 0:41Speaker 2: on the web at NHL dot com slash crack in.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Jeff is going to be with us here in just
- 0:46Speaker 2: a bit too discuss the thrilling end of last night,
- 0:49Speaker 2: the impact of Philip Grubauer, and how the Crack and
- 0:53Speaker 2: proceed on right now with their fourth line goaltending, and
- 0:57Speaker 2: also a quick preview of this game coming up against
- 0:59Speaker 2: some Ruins with Jeff Baker joining us here in just
- 1:02Speaker 2: a bitch well the Krack and now seven to zero
- 1:05Speaker 2: to one in the last eight games. That has solidified
- 1:08Speaker 2: them not just as a playoff team heading into game
- 1:11Speaker 2: forty one of eighty two, but also into the conversation
- 1:15Speaker 2: for first place in the Pacific Division. They come in
- 1:19Speaker 2: one point back up both Vegas and Edmonton tied for
- 1:22Speaker 2: first right now, of course, it is still very much
- 1:25Speaker 2: bunched up the Kraken and a tie with the Kings
- 1:28Speaker 2: Anaheim Ducks as well. The Kraken owned the tie breaker,
- 1:31Speaker 2: but also we'll mean two points back beneath the cut
- 1:34Speaker 2: line are San Jose and the Utah Manmoth. Then, not
- 1:38Speaker 2: to mention as well, three more teams within four points
- 1:42Speaker 2: or less of the Kraken, including Nashville, Saint Louis, and Chicago.
- 1:46Speaker 2: So there is still plenty to be decided right now
- 1:50Speaker 2: and what is very much a wild and chaotic Western
- 1:53Speaker 2: Conference playoff picture with the Crack and hitting the halfway
- 1:56Speaker 2: point of the season by the end of this evening
- 1:59Speaker 2: last night, Let's take back here to milestones. The Kraken
- 2:02Speaker 2: crossed in a matchup against Calgary looking for redemption after
- 2:06Speaker 2: a loss in December, and Captain Jordan every playing in
- 2:10Speaker 2: his eleven hundredth career National.
- 2:13Speaker 3: Hockey League game.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Here we go the left team going right to left
- 2:16Speaker 2: across your dial, picks up the puck and swings wide
- 2:19Speaker 2: left side, moving in rest shut blockers, say by Philip Grubauer,
- 2:24Speaker 2: and turns that one away to keep it one nothing
- 2:27Speaker 2: and the Kraken bench reacting with an emotional way, give
- 2:30Speaker 2: it right back. Here comes Winterton right wing, flame zone,
- 2:33Speaker 2: low shots save Wolf has it from Malonzen. He's gons
- 2:39Speaker 2: there's that fourth line once again.
- 2:42Speaker 3: Sjacob A.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Wonson at the blocker side post up Dustin Wold bangs
- 2:46Speaker 2: it in with seventeen forty three to go in period one.
- 2:50Speaker 2: It is his first and the Kraken have tied this
- 2:54Speaker 2: game at one to one.
- 2:56Speaker 4: Well right Wincherdon down that right side, puts a shot
- 2:58Speaker 4: on it, gets his own reb It is just before
- 3:01Speaker 4: he goes down below with the back of the net,
- 3:03Speaker 4: puts it across the grease to Malonson on the far side.
- 3:06Speaker 4: Blonzon hammers at home.
- 3:07Speaker 3: This keeps tight at one.
- 3:09Speaker 2: He will save that puck for a lifetime. It is
- 3:11Speaker 2: his first career National Hockey League goal, and the reaction
- 3:15Speaker 2: told the entire story of Ruman left wing Myers unto
- 3:18Speaker 2: the zone, passing front to Ryde. He's gones eighteen oh
- 3:24Speaker 2: three laughs and period three birthday boy on the spot.
- 3:29Speaker 2: Shane Wright driving the front of that picks up his
- 3:32Speaker 2: seven gold this season and the Kraken have taken the
- 3:36Speaker 2: lead for the first time this evening at two to one.
- 3:40Speaker 4: What Ben Myers done that left side? He's got a
- 3:42Speaker 4: full head of Steve.
- 3:43Speaker 3: You can hear his.
- 3:43Speaker 4: Linemates going, go, go go, and he flies down that
- 3:46Speaker 4: left side. He puts a saucer path cross legs for
- 3:49Speaker 4: Shane right to put up over the blockers side on
- 3:52Speaker 4: Dustin Wolf.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Two to one, Crown to Larsen leads it right wing
- 3:55Speaker 2: Cocko into the Calgary zone to the middle.
- 3:58Speaker 3: Now for Dunne his shot.
- 3:59Speaker 2: He's gones, m krack and find the trailer and Ben's done,
- 4:05Speaker 2: parking one right past Dustin Wolf. With fourteen minutes and
- 4:10Speaker 2: forty eight seconds left in regulation, It's finced on six
- 4:14Speaker 2: of the year and the Kraken caep on rolling. They
- 4:17Speaker 2: lay the flames three to one.
- 4:20Speaker 4: Coppococco doing a great job coming down the right side.
- 4:22Speaker 4: He pulls up not before the blue line right after
- 4:25Speaker 4: the blue line to let his linemates go hard. Today
- 4:28Speaker 4: he finds Vince done trailing, puts it right on his tape.
- 4:31Speaker 4: Don beats Wolf gloff side top shelf three to one, crack.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Left side in the can Flames one through one of
- 4:37Speaker 2: the nets, save remount.
- 4:38Speaker 3: But here's he scores.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Man even hears with I sing on the cake two
- 4:45Speaker 2: minutes and twenty one seconds left in period three and
- 4:49Speaker 2: from the front. It is his seven goal of the season,
- 4:53Speaker 2: five unanswered from the Kraken, who laid a five to
- 4:57Speaker 2: one that finishing of five to one victory over the
- 5:00Speaker 2: Calgary Flames, with the Kraken exploding for four goals in
- 5:04Speaker 2: period three to break open a one to one tie,
- 5:07Speaker 2: and that tie the franchise record for most goals in
- 5:10Speaker 2: a third period of any kind, last set January eleventh
- 5:14Speaker 2: of twenty twenty five, and falling two goals shy for
- 5:18Speaker 2: most in one period in franchise history, set back in
- 5:21Speaker 2: January of twenty twenty three with six.
- 5:24Speaker 3: Goals in period one.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Nonetheless, the Kraken feeling good about themselves and there's more
- 5:29Speaker 2: reaction after the game with krakeenead coach Lane Lambert Well.
- 5:32Speaker 5: The third period, I thought we did a really good
- 5:35Speaker 5: job of doing things that we talked about sort of
- 5:38Speaker 5: playing and winning hockey. Thought our changes were good in
- 5:41Speaker 5: the third. I thought our shift length was good, which
- 5:44Speaker 5: to me just completely talks about our team and our
- 5:49Speaker 5: team trust for each other.
- 5:51Speaker 6: So we you know, used everybody tonight.
- 5:54Speaker 5: Everybody contributed, and I thought our third period was outstanding.
- 5:58Speaker 6: We limited their scoring chances and we capitalizing on ours.
- 6:01Speaker 5: There was a time not too long ago with third
- 6:03Speaker 5: periods where the period that the team's.
- 6:04Speaker 7: Struggling the most.
- 6:05Speaker 5: And what do you feel the turnaround has been.
- 6:07Speaker 6: There in general?
- 6:08Speaker 5: Well, I just think that we're playing a little bit more, uh,
- 6:11Speaker 5: on our toes and instead of on our heels a
- 6:15Speaker 5: little bit before we were trying to protect instead of
- 6:19Speaker 5: going after it.
- 6:19Speaker 6: And it's just a mindset thing.
- 6:21Speaker 5: And we've talked a lot about it over the last
- 6:24Speaker 5: couple of months and it's been better.
- 6:27Speaker 2: And and you get a feel good for getting rewarded for.
- 6:31Speaker 5: What did you do?
- 6:32Speaker 6: Yeah, it's great.
- 6:33Speaker 5: Uh, you know, you'll always uh you know, always remember
- 6:36Speaker 5: your first NHL goal. So you know, he's been doing
- 6:39Speaker 5: a lot of good things for our hockey team, and
- 6:42Speaker 5: he's contributing offensively as well about Sheen, right, what's kind
- 6:45Speaker 5: of been the message to him and to see him
- 6:47Speaker 5: get rewarded as well.
- 6:49Speaker 6: Well. Shane's playing uh well right now.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Uh.
- 6:51Speaker 6: His ice time indicates that he's being rewarded for it.
- 6:55Speaker 5: He's uh in my mind, he's competing ward and it's
- 6:59Speaker 5: nice to see him.
- 7:01Speaker 6: Like you say, get rewarded. He's had a lot of.
- 7:04Speaker 5: Situations here over the last maybe ten games where he's
- 7:09Speaker 5: hit a post or he's hit a crossbarder. He's had opportunities,
- 7:12Speaker 5: so it's nice to see him get one.
- 7:14Speaker 7: You mentioned this morning that changes how did you kill it?
- 7:17Speaker 5: Always have come through and made great saves, saves philbus forty.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Tonight, but how did a lot of shots felt?
- 7:25Speaker 6: We're okay to pet to the outside of a days
- 7:29Speaker 6: singer that tell Scotty.
- 7:30Speaker 5: Yeah, I thought in the first two periods, I thought
- 7:34Speaker 5: we gave up too much, and I thought he was
- 7:36Speaker 5: amazing for us and has.
- 7:38Speaker 6: Been right you know all that.
- 7:39Speaker 5: So the third period we were much better defensively from
- 7:43Speaker 5: a penalty killing standpoint. You know, you just have to
- 7:47Speaker 5: try and give your goaltender the best opportunity to make
- 7:50Speaker 5: the save. We haven't allowed too many scene passes from
- 7:54Speaker 5: dot to dot as of late, and that's probably been
- 7:57Speaker 5: the biggest turnaround in terms of grouper.
- 7:59Speaker 3: What have you seen him his game that's allowed him.
- 8:01Speaker 6: To have such a redound from last year this year.
- 8:03Speaker 5: I think he's reading the game real well. You know,
- 8:06Speaker 5: his focus has been really solid. I think Golden and
- 8:10Speaker 5: coach and him have a good relationship and he's done
- 8:12Speaker 5: a really.
- 8:12Speaker 6: Good job with him.
- 8:14Speaker 5: And I just think his professionalism. You know, we've you know,
- 8:18Speaker 5: we've had three goalies here. Matt Murray's injured, but you know,
- 8:22Speaker 5: with three goalies, Philip, you know, worked hard over the
- 8:26Speaker 5: summer and just came in and said, I'm going to
- 8:28Speaker 5: try and win a job and play more.
- 8:30Speaker 6: And that's what he's doing. Is a veteran in your
- 8:33Speaker 6: dressing room? How what important has he there? Rubella? Yeah, No,
- 8:37Speaker 6: he's been He's been great, you know, and I think.
- 8:40Speaker 5: That he's really doing sort of a leadership thing with
- 8:46Speaker 5: his play.
- 8:47Speaker 6: And that speaks volumes.
- 8:49Speaker 2: All right, and back to back, coming up here the
- 8:51Speaker 2: crack and taking on the Boston Bruins.
- 8:53Speaker 3: Right back home.
- 8:54Speaker 2: Mcclimate, Lagerina, our friend Jet Baker joining us. He's a
- 8:57Speaker 2: VP of editorial for The Seattle Crack and with us
- 9:00Speaker 2: on Crack in this Morning.
- 9:02Speaker 3: Jeff seven oh and one in eight games. I repeat,
- 9:07Speaker 3: seven oh and one in eight games.
- 9:11Speaker 2: It's still it feels surreal to wrap your head around
- 9:15Speaker 2: this based on where it matters were about roughly a
- 9:18Speaker 2: month ago. But what occurred to you maybe that this
- 9:21Speaker 2: is possible even a month ago.
- 9:23Speaker 7: The thing that's making it plausible is the defense. And
- 9:27Speaker 7: it's been that way all year, right even when they
- 9:29Speaker 7: were losing games during that that streak where they lost
- 9:33Speaker 7: ten of eleven, they were still getting, you know, decent
- 9:36Speaker 7: defense during that time. They were still in the still
- 9:39Speaker 7: in every game, still getting an opportunity to win every game.
- 9:42Speaker 7: The problem was that they weren't scoring enough goals. And
- 9:45Speaker 7: now you know, we're at the point where they're starting
- 9:47Speaker 7: to score a minimum of three goals a game most
- 9:51Speaker 7: nights out, you know, and sometimes those will come by
- 9:54Speaker 7: empty nets, but but they're putting at least three goals
- 9:57Speaker 7: in the net. And when they do that, defense and
- 10:00Speaker 7: the goaltending particularly is so good that that that's usually
- 10:05Speaker 7: going to be enough for them to win. The best
- 10:07Speaker 7: the best is when they can score three goals on
- 10:10Speaker 7: an actual goalie and then you know, and then get
- 10:14Speaker 7: their empty and ed or to make it a fourth
- 10:15Speaker 7: goal or something like that. When that happens, they almost
- 10:18Speaker 7: always win. And so you know, it's it begins and
- 10:22Speaker 7: ends with the defense. And I think the defense made
- 10:25Speaker 7: the defensive play all around by forwards end defenseman has
- 10:28Speaker 7: made life a little easier on goalies as a Joey
- 10:31Speaker 7: the court and Philip Grubauer in particular, And we've seen
- 10:35Speaker 7: during this streak, the same game point streak that the
- 10:38Speaker 7: goaltending has just been phenomenal, so that part of it's working.
- 10:41Speaker 7: So they get they got to score a minimum three
- 10:43Speaker 7: goals a night, and when they do that, they'll usually
- 10:45Speaker 7: win the game.
- 10:46Speaker 2: So whether it comes to Philip Greenbauer, who had a
- 10:49Speaker 2: season high forty one saves last night, or how much
- 10:52Speaker 2: the Kraken just broke things open in a tidal way
- 10:56Speaker 2: fashion against the Flames in period three, what meant the
- 11:00Speaker 2: most to you as far as what happened last evening
- 11:03Speaker 2: in Calgary, without.
- 11:05Speaker 7: Question, it was Philip Grubauer. I mean, if he's not
- 11:08Speaker 7: standing on his head in the first period, they're probably
- 11:10Speaker 7: down by a couple of goals. It's a completely different
- 11:12Speaker 7: hockey game. You know, as it is, they're outshott. It
- 11:16Speaker 7: was thirteen to eight, but the play looked a little
- 11:17Speaker 7: more lopsided to me just watching it, and you know,
- 11:21Speaker 7: they were only down one nothing, you know, the second
- 11:23Speaker 7: and right away, you know, Jacob mallonson ties the game up,
- 11:26Speaker 7: and so you know, you want to look at difference
- 11:28Speaker 7: makers the fourth line. I mean, we've we talked about
- 11:31Speaker 7: it quite a bit. I wrote about it for my
- 11:33Speaker 7: column this past weekend. The fourth line was good before
- 11:37Speaker 7: Jacob Mallahanson got here, but now it's taken things to
- 11:40Speaker 7: another level, and specifically during this stretch of games. I mean,
- 11:44Speaker 7: he only got here eleven games ago and they're on
- 11:46Speaker 7: an eight game point streak. So he's really transformed that
- 11:50Speaker 7: fourth line into what it's what it's doing now, which
- 11:54Speaker 7: is kind of unprecedented, even though they played very well
- 11:57Speaker 7: to start the season. And so that's helping get that
- 12:00Speaker 7: extra goal a game that they've needed. And so I mean,
- 12:04Speaker 7: you see that happening. But we're going back to last night.
- 12:07Speaker 7: I mean, he got he got a you know, pretty
- 12:09Speaker 7: critical goal in the second period, allowed them to go
- 12:11Speaker 7: to the third period tied one one, and you know,
- 12:15Speaker 7: the crack and are a different team when when they're
- 12:17Speaker 7: ahead or when they're tied versus when they're trailing and
- 12:20Speaker 7: playing catch up all the time. And so you know,
- 12:22Speaker 7: without Grubauer though, they never get there. And so he's
- 12:24Speaker 7: full value for all the kudos he's getting. And and
- 12:27Speaker 7: you know, by all means, that's probably a game they
- 12:30Speaker 7: would have lost a few weeks back. Instead, you know,
- 12:34Speaker 7: Grubauer kept them in long enough to win.
- 12:36Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 12:36Speaker 2: I go back to what you wrote last night, and
- 12:37Speaker 2: it was a terrific piece, by the way, on NHL
- 12:39Speaker 2: dot com slash Cracking. I mean, this fourth line is
- 12:42Speaker 2: growing an identity and they're playing very well, and it's
- 12:46Speaker 2: not just the physicality part of it, but they're finding
- 12:50Speaker 2: ways also to be front and center of the offense.
- 12:53Speaker 2: They've now hit the score sheet four games in a row.
- 12:56Speaker 2: I think the only questions that remain, Jeff are how
- 12:59Speaker 2: much do you play them more?
- 13:01Speaker 3: If you do?
- 13:02Speaker 2: And how closer are we to officially giving this line
- 13:05Speaker 2: a nickname?
- 13:06Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean I'm not very good with nicknames, but
- 13:10Speaker 7: it will probably get one fairly soon. I think, you know,
- 13:14Speaker 7: as far as giving him more ice time, I think
- 13:17Speaker 7: they've done a good job of the forward lines during
- 13:20Speaker 7: this streak. I mean, certainly the trade of Mason march
- 13:23Speaker 7: Ment helped. I think it helps solidify certain spots on
- 13:26Speaker 7: certain lines, help bump guys up the lines where they
- 13:29Speaker 7: should have probably been playing prior, but there was just
- 13:32Speaker 7: no room. So I think that yeah, you know, just
- 13:35Speaker 7: just the logistics of the whole thing became a little
- 13:37Speaker 7: more simple, not simple, but just a little easier for
- 13:40Speaker 7: Lane Lambert to manage. And I think he's done a
- 13:42Speaker 7: good job now managing the ice time. I don't know
- 13:44Speaker 7: that they need more ice time than they've been getting.
- 13:46Speaker 7: They've been pretty effective with what they're doing, and they
- 13:49Speaker 7: play a very physical style, as you've noted, and you know,
- 13:52Speaker 7: to go in as chaotically, but it's structured chaos to
- 13:56Speaker 7: go in there and start throwing their weight around, you know,
- 13:59Speaker 7: every shift. That requires a lot of energy. So I'm
- 14:01Speaker 7: not sure that that playing them more is going to
- 14:03Speaker 7: make them more effective. I think they're pretty effective doing
- 14:05Speaker 7: what they're doing right now.
- 14:06Speaker 2: I mean, hey, let's us not get too far ahead
- 14:08Speaker 2: of ourselves, of course, because they've been together for about
- 14:10Speaker 2: roughly a month or so, but I mean, hey, not
- 14:13Speaker 2: all nicknamed lines come from your top end.
- 14:16Speaker 3: Guys.
- 14:17Speaker 2: Just go back and look at the crash line of
- 14:19Speaker 2: the New Jersey Devils. And we're not saying that this
- 14:21Speaker 2: is going to be a reincarnation of them, but just
- 14:23Speaker 2: you know, one example, the crash line that New Jersey
- 14:25Speaker 2: had back in nineteen ninety five with Bobby Holeague, Randy
- 14:29Speaker 2: McKay and Mike Paluso under head coach Jacques Lamier, Jeff
- 14:32Speaker 2: bat to goltending. What do you believe in more the
- 14:36Speaker 2: three goalies system becoming more of an aid here for
- 14:39Speaker 2: this team with the heavy schedule this month, or the
- 14:42Speaker 2: fact that Philip Grubauer might be earning more starts here
- 14:45Speaker 2: down the road than what he's been accustomed to this season.
- 14:48Speaker 7: I think caring three goalies was, you know, in case
- 14:51Speaker 7: of injury, and we've seen that already this season play out.
- 14:55Speaker 7: And in this case, Matt Murray got injured, but everybody,
- 14:57Speaker 7: for guests, sometimes before he got hurt, he was looking
- 15:00Speaker 7: like the guy who had taken over the number two
- 15:03Speaker 7: goaltending spot, and then he got hurt and Grubauer came
- 15:05Speaker 7: in and the rest is history. So but but you know,
- 15:09Speaker 7: you still have that possibility. We're only three games into
- 15:12Speaker 7: seventeen that are being played this month, and so you
- 15:16Speaker 7: know you have to have that as a hedge against injury.
- 15:18Speaker 7: I think that that works out. But as far as
- 15:21Speaker 7: right now, I think going with the one two tanem
- 15:25Speaker 7: is working. We've seen teams in recent years have have
- 15:28Speaker 7: tremendous success going with the tandem of one and two.
- 15:32Speaker 7: I mean, you think of the Boston Bruins back when
- 15:33Speaker 7: they a couple of years ago when they set the
- 15:36Speaker 7: the NHL record for points. You know, they had Jeremy
- 15:40Speaker 7: Swaman going and Linas Olmark as well in a one
- 15:45Speaker 7: two ten and that worked out very well for them.
- 15:48Speaker 7: And then you know, they let them They let the
- 15:50Speaker 7: problems take care of themselves afterwards, you know, with the
- 15:53Speaker 7: with the move that that got all Mark sent to Ottawa.
- 15:56Speaker 7: But right now, Grubauer, the Cort, I mean, it seems
- 15:59Speaker 7: to be working, right. They win every other start that
- 16:01Speaker 7: they make. Why not keep it, keep it going. I
- 16:03Speaker 7: don't see a three goalie tandem materializing right now. I
- 16:07Speaker 7: think you ride the two guys that have gotten you here,
- 16:09Speaker 7: and you have Matt Murray in reserve. You got to
- 16:12Speaker 7: play him at some point, I would imagine, because forget
- 16:15Speaker 7: how to go in there. But right now I like
- 16:18Speaker 7: what they're doing.
- 16:19Speaker 2: Yeah, he's getting more reps and was getting more as
- 16:21Speaker 2: well on practice at practice on Sunday.
- 16:23Speaker 3: Despite that he's on IR.
- 16:25Speaker 2: But it might not be long until he is activated,
- 16:28Speaker 2: and so we'll see when he's back. Jeff, nobody last
- 16:31Speaker 2: night played less than eleven minutes and fourteen seconds, and
- 16:35Speaker 2: nobody played more than twenty minutes and fifty six seconds.
- 16:39Speaker 3: And it seems like a.
- 16:40Speaker 2: Familiar recipe to last week against Nashville when the Kraken
- 16:45Speaker 2: we're on the front end of back to back and
- 16:48Speaker 2: then they went into Vancouver and then found a way
- 16:50Speaker 2: to win that game. Here we are again. How does
- 16:53Speaker 2: that work? You think in their favor for tonight?
- 16:57Speaker 7: I think it conserves energy. I mean, look, this team's
- 16:59Speaker 7: not going to win without energy. And you know we
- 17:01Speaker 7: talk about the fourth line that's and everybody has said it,
- 17:04Speaker 7: not just me, I mean everybody watching the game says
- 17:07Speaker 7: that they bring a lot of energy to this team.
- 17:09Speaker 7: And if this team has energy, it can compete with
- 17:11Speaker 7: anybody in the NHL. We've seen that a lot of
- 17:13Speaker 7: what was happening last season was you go to those
- 17:16Speaker 7: back to backs, and on the tail end of it,
- 17:19Speaker 7: you could see in the first five minutes that the
- 17:21Speaker 7: team didn't have it, and you know, they'd come out flat,
- 17:24Speaker 7: they'd be outskated, and once in a while they'd score
- 17:27Speaker 7: the first goal and then they just run out of gas.
- 17:29Speaker 7: I mean, that hasn't happened as often this season. It
- 17:32Speaker 7: certainly hasn't happened the last three times out in back
- 17:34Speaker 7: to backs, and the krack and have won two of them.
- 17:37Speaker 7: You know, they started to fade a little bit against
- 17:39Speaker 7: the Canucks. They blew that what was a three to
- 17:41Speaker 7: one lead, and you know, you could probably attribute some
- 17:44Speaker 7: of that to fatigue. I mean, look, it's tough. It's
- 17:46Speaker 7: tough to go back to back like this, but I
- 17:49Speaker 7: think when you balance out the minutes like they've been
- 17:51Speaker 7: trying to do, I think it lets you get a
- 17:54Speaker 7: little bit more in the tank so that you'll have
- 17:56Speaker 7: something for the next night. I mean, this is a
- 17:58Speaker 7: huge challenge for them. You know, Bust not a bad
- 18:00Speaker 7: team by any stretch. They had some rough times lately,
- 18:03Speaker 7: but you know this would be a big one. The
- 18:05Speaker 7: cracking could get it.
- 18:07Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 18:07Speaker 2: Boston also has been the busiest penalty killer unit in
- 18:10Speaker 2: the league this season, and by a wide margin as well.
- 18:14Speaker 2: The Kraken, though, We'll be getting the Bruins here at
- 18:16Speaker 2: the end of their road trip. Despite being on the
- 18:18Speaker 2: back end of back to back yet the Kraken have
- 18:20Speaker 2: found ways to get wins or points in the last
- 18:23Speaker 2: four tries. Second leg of back to back, and they
- 18:27Speaker 2: face Boston coming in with a bit of an injury
- 18:29Speaker 2: bugg issue nipping at their heels hampus. Lindholman is out
- 18:31Speaker 2: and this might be long term. So it's essentially back
- 18:35Speaker 2: to back on one side versus a team that hasn't
- 18:38Speaker 2: seen homem since before the holidays. So how do you
- 18:42Speaker 2: measure a good start tonight against the Ruins?
- 18:45Speaker 7: Again, it comes down to energy, we'll see. You know,
- 18:48Speaker 7: it helps when the crack and get the first goal.
- 18:50Speaker 7: You know, we've talked about that a lot. When they
- 18:52Speaker 7: have to play catch up the whole game and chase
- 18:54Speaker 7: the game, you know, you know, it's they're just not
- 18:57Speaker 7: as effective at it. I think they've got to They've
- 18:59Speaker 7: got to be aggressive, stay on the Bruins from the start.
- 19:02Speaker 7: The four check's going to be a huge part of that.
- 19:04Speaker 7: We've seen that from the front, from the fourth line
- 19:08Speaker 7: and you know. That's why they've started a game or
- 19:10Speaker 7: two here or there. I mean, they just want to
- 19:13Speaker 7: set the tone early. I think that'll help. The Bruins
- 19:15Speaker 7: might be on the end of their road trip, but
- 19:17Speaker 7: they've won, you know, consecutive games out here on the
- 19:20Speaker 7: West Coast in the other team's buildings, so they're not
- 19:23Speaker 7: exactly coming in on a slump, and they've been pretty
- 19:26Speaker 7: well arrested. They haven't. They haven't played since Saturday. They've
- 19:29Speaker 7: actually had more practice clime at Climate Pledge than than
- 19:31Speaker 7: the Krack and have the last few days. So yeah,
- 19:34Speaker 7: you know, I think the energy will be huge coming
- 19:36Speaker 7: out there. You can't let the Bruins start dictating play early.
- 19:39Speaker 2: On, all right, looking forward to it here first of
- 19:41Speaker 2: two at home the Krack and as of this morning,
- 19:44Speaker 2: a playoff team and looking to keep a good thing going.
- 19:47Speaker 2: Jeff again, appreciate you, thanks a.
- 19:48Speaker 7: Lot man, sounds good, Mike pickare all.
- 19:51Speaker 2: Right, Jeff, appreciate this the Crack and again seven to
- 19:53Speaker 2: oh and one in their last eight games and this
- 19:56Speaker 2: evening ken establish their second longest pointstreak in franchise history.
- 20:01Speaker 2: A win or just forcing overtime would help them get there. Meanwhile,
- 20:05Speaker 2: as Jeff said, the Boston Bruins, coming on the back
- 20:08Speaker 2: end of their five game road trip, haven't seen homey
- 20:11Speaker 2: since before the holiday break, but also come off a
- 20:13Speaker 2: two days of rest, which means a gate attraction in
- 20:16Speaker 2: David Pasternak, by the way, needing one more power play
- 20:19Speaker 2: goal to type patrese bergeron for fourth all time in
- 20:23Speaker 2: Bruin's history. But also Morgan Geeky, the former cracking forward,
- 20:27Speaker 2: enjoying a season of his career. He's got twenty five
- 20:31Speaker 2: goals in forty two games that is tied for third
- 20:33Speaker 2: best right now in the NHL. But also he's going
- 20:36Speaker 2: through a bit of a cold streak right now, with
- 20:38Speaker 2: no goals in the last six games and the Kraken
- 20:42Speaker 2: trying to keep him at Bass, he returns to his
- 20:45Speaker 2: former stomping grounds of two seasons.
- 20:48Speaker 3: Look forward to having you once again this evening.
- 20:50Speaker 2: Six point thirty on air seven o'clock puck drop Ever
- 20:53Speaker 2: it fits you, Alconiski in the booth, I'll join you
- 20:56Speaker 2: once again beginning at six point thirty right by the
- 20:58Speaker 2: course light landing in section twenty. Anders Hurst joins me
- 21:01Speaker 2: once again live for coverage at Tom's Watchbar. Up to
- 21:04Speaker 2: an hour after the final horn. We certainly hope that
- 21:07Speaker 2: you can join us. Big thank you again to Jeff
- 21:10Speaker 2: Baker and for kracking this morning. I'm Mike Benton. Have
