- 0:00So autism and ADHD secretly the same thing.
- 0:02Well, you know, here's my take on it and it may not be the best
- 0:08take. For a long time I always thought
- 0:11to myself like done, you know. So the people who have ADHD will
- 0:15say I only have a diagnosis of AHD, but the people with autism
- 0:19about 90% of the time will say, hey, I have a diagnosis of
- 0:23autism and ADHD and I'm like done.
- 0:26So do I and so does this do and it's the more people I know a
- 0:30lot of people I know all have ADHD who also have autism.
- 0:33Now it's really interesting because my take is this, right?
- 0:37My this is my theory and it's only a theory so don't like
- 0:39don't gun me down, but it's just a theory.
- 0:42My theory is that everybody who has an autism spectrum diagnosis
- 0:48actually has ADHD. Also, I believe ADHD is part of
- 0:50the autism spectrum, but we don't always diagnose it because
- 0:55we don't always have to have a hyperactivity presenting as a
- 0:58physical manifestation. Because you get basically the
- 1:01old days where you'd, the old days we had two types.
- 1:04We had ADD, attention deficit disorder and an attention
- 1:07deficit hyperactivity disorder. And so both of those were kind
- 1:10of like, well, this guy's hyperactive, so he's got ADHD
- 1:13and this guy isn't hyperactive, but his brain still works in
- 1:15that way. So he's got ADD.
- 1:17And it was so interesting because what we did see was that
- 1:22the amalgamation of just ADHD, so the hyperactive part is
- 1:25actually in the mind rather than in the physical body, which made
- 1:28way more sense because you're able to just say ADHD rather
- 1:32than, Oh yeah, it's ADD because it's just splitting it off or,
- 1:35or factioning as, as it would be is just a more difficult way for
- 1:39complex terms to kind of be understood.
- 1:41So that being said, a lot of people who are diagnosed with
- 1:44autism would have been diagnosed also with ADD, but now they
- 1:47don't have that. So now they're just saying it's
- 1:48autism without the ADHD, but I think that ADHD comes along with
- 1:54it. And the reason I say that is
- 1:55because it's very rare for me to find someone who's on the autism
- 1:59spectrum that doesn't have ADHD traits and try it, right?
- 2:06This is you right. If you're saying like I'm an
- 2:08autistic adult, but I don't have ADHD, think again, right,
- 2:11because like, think about it, right, impulsivity, the like
- 2:16this of of hyper focus, the inertia swapping of, of tasks.
- 2:21Like I want to do this for a little bit, then I'm going to do
- 2:23that for a little bit. Like a lot of people say this is
- 2:24autistic because autistic people sometimes, you know, affected by
- 2:28sugar and and caffeine and all this kind of hyperactivity.
- 2:31But when we think about it, this is just ADHD traits, right?
- 2:35And I think they come comorbidly, meaning they Co
- 2:38occur with autism. Now this is just my take on it.
- 2:41I don't know if there is a study done yet.
- 2:44I mean, I've, I've been looking, but I can't find a study that
- 2:46says like, you know, ADHD and autism the same thing.
- 2:49But like, this is just my take on it.
- 2:51But what I would suggest is that if you are autistic and you have
- 2:56ADHD traits, I mean, it's, it's kind of more likely and one of
- 3:00the most interesting things I find, especially in females,
- 3:04this happens especially in females who are autistic.
- 3:07So, and it's normally like a mum who like has taken the kid in,
- 3:14the kid gets diagnosed and then the clinicians like because also
- 3:17in hereditary right, it will come through the genes and so
- 3:19it's passed down from your parents.
- 3:20So and how it works really quickly is this is how the
- 3:24current picture was when I was diagnosed by my update diagnosis
- 3:28of ASD level 2 versus Asperger's syndrome.
- 3:31The clinician says to me, it's kind of like this mum has some
- 3:34traits, dad has some traits like neurodivision kind of brain
- 3:37types. And then it comes together and
- 3:38they have babies and you're born and you have all of their
- 3:41neurodiversion traits together. And I was like, oh, great.
- 3:44And so I was born, you know, I'm autistic, dyslexic, ADHDOCD and
- 3:50Alexa, thymia, dysproxic. Like there's a lot of things,
- 3:53right? And so because of that, we know
- 3:58that parents carry the genes and sometimes more than they even
- 4:03know about. So this is what happens.
- 4:05You go down, you know, to the clinic, you get your kid
- 4:08diagnosed and then the clinician looks at you and was like, Hey,
- 4:11do you seems to collect Pokémon cards too.
- 4:16And then you're like, yeah, so and they're like, he was the
- 4:20same class and don't look at me in the eyes.
- 4:21And like, yeah. And then so then the the parent
- 4:23gets diagnosed. But what usually happens is
- 4:25this. The parent gets diagnosed ADHD.
- 4:28Usually females like a diagnosed ADHD and they're like, OK, ADHD,
- 4:31blah, blah, blah. And then after a bit of time,
- 4:36I've seen the ADHD clinician, the Christian's like, actually
- 4:40these are more neuro diversion traits associated with autism
- 4:42spectrum disorder and you're more likely autistic.
- 4:46And that just blows my mind. I'm like, holy cow, like that is
- 4:49so interesting. And that's my take.
- 4:50Like I, I feel like that is kind of like, oh, by the way, guys,
- 4:54my name is Dan. I have autism and if you're new
- 4:56around here, click that subscribe button because I'm
- 4:58trying to grow this family, trying to make it to I want to
- 5:01get like a 500,000 subscribers. We're we're just under 300,000
- 5:04subscribers. So if you can help me get closer
- 5:05to my 500,000 subscribers go Actually, I have it on the wall
- 5:08here. I have a little piece of paper.
- 5:10You can't say it, but there are a piece of paper on the wall
- 5:11there like a goal like to get 500,000 subscribers because it's
- 5:14kind of like my dream, right? I love YouTube anyway, but most
- 5:19it's just so interesting. Most people will start off with
- 5:21an ADHD diagnosis and that will turn this to actually an autism
- 5:23and ADHD comorbid diagnosis. Whereas guys on the other hand
- 5:27will have diagnosis of autism and ADHD comorbidly or they will
- 5:31just have a diagnosis of ADHD and I don't know where that
- 5:34fits. Can ADHD be diagnosed on its
- 5:37own? If what I'm saying is true, you
- 5:39know, is ADHD and autism like kind of like packed together?
- 5:42And if that, if it is true, then how come we can have an
- 5:44independent ADHD diagnosis? And I don't really have to ask
- 5:47that question because I haven't got a fire yet in my research.
- 5:50But if you know, if you have, I want to, what are your inklings?
- 5:53I read every single comment. By the way, what are your
- 5:54inclinsing inclin inkling inclination?
- 5:58What are your ideas on this? Right?
- 5:59Because because I don't know, I, I, I want to, I want to increase
- 6:03this. If you are wanting to, if you're
- 6:05an autistic adult and you want to learn more about building
- 6:07confidence from the, the, the ground up, I actually have an
- 6:09exclusive program that's just launched.
- 6:11It's called the Bulletproof Brain method where I kind of
- 6:14teach you how I came from being really meek to being like super
- 6:17confident, winning awards and stuff and like going on in the
- 6:19world doing talks, you know, in different countries.
