Why do so many academics not do the thing they actually study?
One of the most fascinating things I find about being in academia and research life is the number of people that just don’t believe in the thing they study. If you pick a topic and look at the people studying it—and then ask whether they would actually do it themselves—the odds are staggeringly low.
