- 0:45SPEAKER_12: I don't even think now.
- 0:48SPEAKER_08: We'll talk about Richie in a second because that's one of the one of the lists from Ultimate Classic Rock that we're going to talk about.
- 0:55SPEAKER_08: But it is episode 233.

- 1:03SPEAKER_12: Already?
- 1:03SPEAKER_12: Wow, we're not even going to warm up.
- 1:06SPEAKER_08: You want to warm up?
- 1:08SPEAKER_08: Not stretch.
- 1:08SPEAKER_08: Hold on, let me You don't have one, right?
- 1:12SPEAKER_08: I'm just telling one.
- 1:13SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I mean, I'm not I I'm never gonna I'm never gonna come into this with a joke, you know.
- 1:21SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 1:21SPEAKER_12: So I'll just this this segment brought to you by the uh high school course.
- 1:26SPEAKER_08: Frescal high school course, yes.
- 1:28SPEAKER_08: So I this is the one that I told my course today.
- 1:30SPEAKER_08: Alright.
- 1:31SPEAKER_08: Um one of my students told a dad joke, and if if I could remember it, I would tell that one too.
- 1:37SPEAKER_08: But I don't remember what she said.
- 1:38SPEAKER_08: Um but then I I get up and I have her call in.
- 1:42SPEAKER_08: I get up and I I kind of try and top it, and I never do.
- 1:45SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 1:46SPEAKER_08: Although I think today they liked mine better.
- 1:48SPEAKER_08: It was it's pretty bad.
- 1:49SPEAKER_08: You're gonna roll your eyes.
- 1:50SPEAKER_12: Of course I am.
- 1:51SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 1:51SPEAKER_12: I'm almost prepared.
- 1:53SPEAKER_08: So I said, back in my day, you know, overusing commas was like a serious crime.
- 2:05SPEAKER_08: As a matter of fact, it almost always resulted in a long sentence.
- 2:18SPEAKER_08: You didn't even roll your eyes.
- 2:21SPEAKER_12: I can't.
- 2:23SPEAKER_12: They liked it.
- 2:25SPEAKER_12: They went.
- 2:29SPEAKER_12: I hate you so much right now.
- 2:34SPEAKER_12: Jesus, that was that was terrible.
- 2:37SPEAKER_12: I thought it was good.
- 2:38SPEAKER_12: That was so bad.
- 2:39SPEAKER_12: Almost always resulted in a long sentence.
- 2:43SPEAKER_12: Not even where I know where I was going.
- 2:44SPEAKER_12: And that wasn't didn't even go where I thought it was going.
- 2:47SPEAKER_08: Where did you think it was going?
- 2:48SPEAKER_12: I had no idea, but I didn't think it was gonna go there.
- 2:50SPEAKER_12: And then I was like, oh crap.
- 2:52SPEAKER_08: What the frick?
- 2:53SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 2:54SPEAKER_08: Man, that was bad.
- 2:56SPEAKER_08: It's a great way to start the podcast.
- 2:57SPEAKER_12: Really is.
- 2:58SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 2:58SPEAKER_12: Nothing like getting Doug ticked off.
- 3:02SPEAKER_08: Alright.
- 3:02SPEAKER_08: Uh so let's see what's happened since the last time we uh we talked to each other.
- 3:06SPEAKER_08: Uh we well, we had rehearsal.
- 3:08SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 3:09SPEAKER_14: A lot of rehearsal.
- 3:10SPEAKER_08: A couple rehearsals in in one day.
- 3:12SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 3:12SPEAKER_08: And well, so so here's the thing that surprised me.
- 3:15SPEAKER_08: We've already talked about this, but not on the podcast.
- 3:17SPEAKER_08: Umy has a first name?
- 3:23SPEAKER_08: Yep.
- 3:24SPEAKER_08: It's uh B-R-I-A-N.
- 3:27SPEAKER_13: Your baloney's named after you?
- 3:29SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 3:30SPEAKER_13: That's weird.
- 3:31SPEAKER_08: So anyway, um I p stress about learning songs because I want them to be right.
- 3:39SPEAKER_12: Well, we all do that.
- 3:40SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 3:41SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 3:41SPEAKER_08: But uh I do it a little more well, Joel does too.
- 3:45SPEAKER_08: A little more outwardly.
- 3:47SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 3:47SPEAKER_08: You know.
- 3:48SPEAKER_08: Joel and I both well, Joel's probably a lot busier than I am, actually.
- 3:53SPEAKER_08: Um but he's I think he's a year he's a couple years older than me, I think.
- 3:59SPEAKER_08: Right?
- 4:00SPEAKER_14: I would say sorry, yeah.
- 4:01SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 4:01SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 4:02SPEAKER_08: Not he's not much older, but he's a couple years.
- 4:04SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 4:04SPEAKER_08: Um but so you know, guys, our age when it comes to this stuff, we have to sit down and spend time with these songs in order to kind of figure out what's going on.
- 4:15SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 4:16SPEAKER_08: And so, uh, I had uh a lot of homework to do and our pr our rehearsal was Sunday afternoon.
- 4:24SPEAKER_08: And so we're sending messages and let's do this song, let's do this song, let's do this song.
- 4:28SPEAKER_08: Well it ended up being between the two bands, ten songs for one rehearsal.
- 4:35SPEAKER_08: Five songs for one band, five songs for the other band.
- 4:38SPEAKER_08: And some of them were pretty straightforward, some of them we'd already done before.
- 4:43SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 4:43SPEAKER_08: Um so I wasn't really too worried about those, but there was a couple that I was worried about.
- 4:49SPEAKER_08: And the one that I was most worried about was the same one that Joel was worried about.
- 4:54SPEAKER_08: Because there's um guitar part in it that is signature for the song.
- 5:04SPEAKER_08: Right?
- 5:05SPEAKER_12: I don't know which song you're talking about.
- 5:06SPEAKER_12: You don't know which song I'm talking about?
- 5:08SPEAKER_12: Okay, well, let me Well, I tend to tune you guys out.
- 5:11SPEAKER_12: So I'm not really Not on purpose, but I mean, you guys are starting, oh I don't know what should that should that be uh F minor?
- 5:21SPEAKER_12: That's an F sharp, no, go E flat.
- 5:24SPEAKER_12: And I'm like, all I hear is you know, so okay, so this is the one I'm talking about.
- 5:34SPEAKER_12: Oh, that one, yeah, okay.
- 5:35SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 5:36SPEAKER_08: So this this seems like and it is pretty straightforward.
- 5:41SPEAKER_08: You know?
- 5:42SPEAKER_12: I I you want me to say yes it does, but I think there's more to it than appears.
- 5:47SPEAKER_12: It's like a transformer.
- 5:48SPEAKER_08: Yeah, so this is Orleans song called Still the One.
- 5:52SPEAKER_08: Great song, yeah.
- 5:53SPEAKER_08: It'll go over well, and on the face of it, it's pretty simple.
- 5:59SPEAKER_08: But when you get to the guitar solo, uh Okay.
- 6:09SPEAKER_08: So this is a dual guitar solo.
- 6:12SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 6:13SPEAKER_08: And so I had like a a day maybe to kind of figure it out.
- 6:17SPEAKER_08: Joel did too.
- 6:18SPEAKER_08: And so this is how it this is what it sounds like.
- 7:07SPEAKER_08: Actually, yeah, two guitars.
- 7:08SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 7:09SPEAKER_08: Um, and my thinking was we can't do this song if we don't have this guitar solo right.
- 7:16SPEAKER_08: I think Joel was thinking that too.
- 7:18SPEAKER_12: Yeah, but honestly, the lay person isn't gonna pay any attention.
- 7:23SPEAKER_12: Well, see, I don't think about that.
- 7:25SPEAKER_12: I know.
- 7:26SPEAKER_12: The only other people, other than the people in the band thinking about the guitar solo, are musicians out in the crowd.
- 7:32SPEAKER_11: Right.
- 7:33SPEAKER_12: They're like, because you know they're out there going, ah, they missed that.
- 7:37SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 7:37SPEAKER_12: I screwed that part up.
- 7:38SPEAKER_08: Yeah, you know.
- 7:39SPEAKER_08: So anyway, we walked into this rehearsal, kind of anxiety-ridden about this song.
- 7:45SPEAKER_08: Sure.
- 7:46SPEAKER_08: And I we we started, we're do we want to tackle it?
- 7:50SPEAKER_08: I think we did it last, one of the last things that we did.
- 7:52SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 7:53SPEAKER_08: Asked, do we want to do it?
- 7:54SPEAKER_08: No, we'll try it.
- 7:55SPEAKER_08: It's not gonna be there.
- 7:56SPEAKER_08: You know, uh we're we're the the dual guitar is not gonna be there.
- 7:59SPEAKER_08: We're just I'll just fake a guitar solo, you know, and we'll get through it.
- 8:03SPEAKER_08: And we got all the way through it.
- 8:07SPEAKER_08: First take.
- 8:08SPEAKER_08: Yeah, we did.
- 8:08SPEAKER_08: Um I faked a guitar solo and it fit.
- 8:12SPEAKER_08: It wasn't perfect, but it fit.
- 8:15SPEAKER_08: And we s we ended and we're like, why were we so why were we so afraid of this song?
- 8:22SPEAKER_08: It could work without the dual guitar solo.
- 8:25SPEAKER_08: I thought it was so signature, and I think it is, but I don't their musicians people aren't gonna care.
- 8:31SPEAKER_12: No, they're not gonna care.
- 8:32SPEAKER_12: They just they like the song.
- 8:33SPEAKER_12: Yeah, they like to sing along.
- 8:35SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 8:36SPEAKER_12: You know?
- 8:36SPEAKER_12: They're not singing along to the guitar solo.
- 8:39SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 8:40SPEAKER_08: So Yeah, that's true.
- 8:41SPEAKER_08: Depending on the guitar solo, actually.
- 8:44SPEAKER_08: But not that one.
- 8:45SPEAKER_08: You're right.
- 8:45SPEAKER_08: They're not singing along to that guy.
- 8:47SPEAKER_08: Yeah, yeah.
- 8:47SPEAKER_08: So anyway, we did it two times, three times, I don't know.
- 8:52SPEAKER_08: I think we did it twice, and we were like, well, okay.
- 8:55SPEAKER_11: We could probably pull it off right now.
- 8:57SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 8:57SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 8:58SPEAKER_08: So and these are and this was, I should say, uh, this was a non-horn rehearsal.
- 9:03SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 9:04SPEAKER_08: Because sometimes we like so we like to give the horns a break during a syndicate show because of their lips.
- 9:11SPEAKER_08: Right?
- 9:12SPEAKER_08: Break lips.
- 9:13SPEAKER_08: Break lips.
- 9:14SPEAKER_08: Lips break.
- 9:14SPEAKER_08: Uh lips break.
- 9:16SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 9:18SPEAKER_08: So so we we throw in Give your lips a break.
- 9:23SPEAKER_08: We throw in songs that don't have any horns in them so that they can take a break and and rest their lips and jowls and all that stuff.
- 9:30SPEAKER_08: And Jowl break.
- 9:32SPEAKER_12: We have had jailbreak.
- 9:34SPEAKER_08: We have had the uh It's a jowl break!
- 9:42unknown: Sorry.
- 9:45SPEAKER_08: So we have uh kind of a short supply of non-horn songs, so we just added a few um that we thought would go over.
- 9:53SPEAKER_08: Still the one free ride from Edgar Winter Group, which actually went pretty well.
- 9:57SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 9:57SPEAKER_08: Um what were the other ones?
- 9:59SPEAKER_08: I don't remember talking about doing that one, but still uh Hey Tonight, C C R.
- 10:05SPEAKER_12: Yeah, we we done that with Reverend Funk.
- 10:07SPEAKER_08: Yep.
- 10:07SPEAKER_08: So uh what was the other one?
- 10:09SPEAKER_08: There were two two other ones.
- 10:12SPEAKER_08: Oh, holy cow.
- 10:13SPEAKER_08: I don't even remember now.
- 10:15SPEAKER_08: Anyway, we did five songs.
- 10:17SPEAKER_08: This ticket, and then we did five songs with Skinny Elvis.
- 10:20SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 10:21SPEAKER_12: Um see I was worried about the third eye blind song that we did because the because it's a it's a weird it's a weird song.
- 10:30SPEAKER_12: It comes in at weird places and it's the chorus is really high, and I was like, ah, this is gonna say but then when we got in there, I was like, oh, this isn't that.
- 10:38SPEAKER_08: If you think that one uh the words are in weird places in that one, you should do like semi-charmed life or something.
- 10:43SPEAKER_08: Semi-charmed life or jumper.
- 10:45SPEAKER_08: Those are even you know, those are the same.
- 10:47SPEAKER_08: I mean, it's all semi-char uh all um third eye blind songs are kind of weird.
- 10:51SPEAKER_08: Weird that way.
- 10:52SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 10:53SPEAKER_08: Um so yeah, we got that one and um we got a few more.
- 10:56SPEAKER_08: We're playing a gig soon.
- 10:58SPEAKER_08: Couple weeks.
- 10:59SPEAKER_08: Couple weeks.
- 10:59SPEAKER_08: We're playing at uh at a high school for their winter carnival celebration or something like that.
- 11:04SPEAKER_08: So should be kind of fun.
- 11:06SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I'm glad they're putting us in the gym and not in the auditorium.
- 11:09SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 11:09SPEAKER_08: So yeah, so they can have some fun with us.
- 11:12SPEAKER_08: Like, you know, like they did last year.
- 11:14SPEAKER_08: Was it that one?
- 11:15SPEAKER_08: That it wasn't that show that there was one kid that was just staring at that was in Madawaska.
- 11:18SPEAKER_08: That was Madawaska, that you know, creepy kid.
- 11:20SPEAKER_08: Just staring at us with a I want to call him Damien.
- 11:26SPEAKER_12: Yeah, that's about the size.
- 11:27SPEAKER_12: I mean, that kid was just like just staring at us.
- 11:30SPEAKER_12: Just just daggers.
- 11:32SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 11:33SPEAKER_08: Just like right in front of us, too.
- 11:35SPEAKER_12: Yeah, and I don't know who he was looking at.
- 11:38SPEAKER_12: He was just just like you guys are terrible.
- 11:43SPEAKER_02: Why are you in my school?
- 11:47SPEAKER_08: Yeah, it was it was quite comical.
- 11:49SPEAKER_08: I'm telling my father, Satan.
- 11:52SPEAKER_08: So uh yeah, and then we got uh I don't know, the syndicate has some shows coming up in the summer, so we're excited about those.
- 12:00SPEAKER_08: When's our first oh our our um is our fundraiser coming up a couple weeks March 15th?
- 12:06SPEAKER_08: Sixteenth.
- 12:07SPEAKER_08: Sixteenth.
- 12:08SPEAKER_08: Oh yeah, that's right.
- 12:09SPEAKER_08: Originally it was the fifteenth.
- 12:10SPEAKER_08: It's moved to the Sunday.
- 12:11SPEAKER_08: So it's a Sunday at two o'clock to about three thirty at the Caribbean Performing Arts Center uh in care.
- 12:19SPEAKER_08: But we do a we do a fundraiser, I don't want to say every year, but we try to.
- 12:22SPEAKER_12: We well we've we've done pretty good.
- 12:24SPEAKER_12: We've been pretty consistent.
- 12:25SPEAKER_12: Uh I don't know, twenty-one?
- 12:27SPEAKER_12: Yeah, something like that.
- 12:28SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 12:28SPEAKER_12: Last four or five years.
- 12:29SPEAKER_08: So this fundraiser.
- 12:30SPEAKER_12: Well we've done fundraisers before though, for the main veterans uh thingy up there and yeah, we've done a few others.
- 12:38SPEAKER_08: This one is benefit for um an organization call called Cancer, C-A-N-C-E-R, which is caring area neighbors for cancer education and research.
- 12:49SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 12:50SPEAKER_08: Is that right?
- 12:50SPEAKER_08: Or resources, yeah.
- 12:52SPEAKER_08: Uh cancer what basically what it is is we have uh unfortunately lots of folks in Arusta County that are suffering from cancer.
- 13:03SPEAKER_08: And so this helps them with this this fund, this this group, um helps them with um travel and hotels and food and things like that for when they have to go somewhere for appointments.
- 13:18SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 13:19SPEAKER_08: Like if they have to go three hours away to Bangor or even even to Boston, probably.
- 13:23SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 13:24SPEAKER_08: So they the the people that started this organization um that's what the money is for.
- 13:30SPEAKER_08: So it's a great cause.
- 13:32SPEAKER_08: Um and so we're happy to raise money for that.
- 13:35SPEAKER_08: We've got a couple things up our sleeve uh for perfor performance-wise.
- 13:39SPEAKER_08: So it's all by donation.
- 13:41SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 13:41SPEAKER_08: So people can show up and donate what they what they want.
- 13:44SPEAKER_08: Um hopefully we'll raise a lot of money.
- 13:48SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I hope so.
- 13:48SPEAKER_12: We've we've done pretty well with with all our fundraisers.
- 13:52SPEAKER_12: So we we got some really generous fans.
- 13:54SPEAKER_12: So we do.
- 13:56SPEAKER_08: So it's pretty good.
- 13:57SPEAKER_08: I'm excited about that.
- 13:58SPEAKER_08: That's a great way to kind of I don't know, and then the next day is Sun Pati's Day.
- 14:02SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 14:03SPEAKER_08: I don't know if it's a it's it's the start of our season.
- 14:06SPEAKER_08: It's really not.
- 14:06SPEAKER_12: Nah, it's kind of like the this is what we've been doing all winter kind of thing.
- 14:10SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 14:10SPEAKER_12: So then we come back.
- 14:14SPEAKER_12: Usually they're start we start in May, right?
- 14:16SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 14:17SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 14:17SPEAKER_12: And then we go right through September, October, and then back to the woodshed.
- 14:21SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 14:22SPEAKER_08: So we're excited to get back out there and uh and play some music.
- 14:26SPEAKER_08: Play some tunes, man.
- 14:27SPEAKER_08: Yeah, I'll mount.
- 14:28SPEAKER_08: Alright, so that guitar solo was a good jumping off point for this little bit that we're gonna do here.
- 14:35SPEAKER_13: Oh, look at you planning stuff.
- 14:38SPEAKER_13: I planned it.
- 14:39SPEAKER_08: No, I didn't really.
- 14:40SPEAKER_13: It was worked out well though.
- 14:42SPEAKER_08: Uh Ultimate Classic Rock ha has another list, and I kind of uh blindsided Doug with it when he got down here in the um fun dungeon.
- 14:51SPEAKER_08: So we don't we don't have our own lists.
- 14:54SPEAKER_12: Um But I I think I have a feeling well we don't agree all the way with these guys.
- 14:59SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 15:00SPEAKER_12: But probably 75%.
- 15:02SPEAKER_08: Usually.
- 15:03SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 15:03SPEAKER_08: Yeah, usually.
- 15:04SPEAKER_08: So we'll see uh if we agree on this.
- 15:07SPEAKER_08: This is the top 20 hair metal guitar solos.
- 15:12SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 15:13SPEAKER_08: Um and I don't uh know if it's um guitar solos within the song.
- 15:19SPEAKER_08: The reason I ask is because Mr.
- 15:20SPEAKER_08: Scary better be on that list.
- 15:22SPEAKER_08: Is that considered a guitar?
- 15:24SPEAKER_12: That's more of an instrumental.
- 15:25SPEAKER_12: Well, it's a guitar solo.
- 15:26SPEAKER_12: No, I mean there's a guitar solo.
- 15:28SPEAKER_12: There's a couple well, two or three guitars on there.
- 15:30SPEAKER_08: Yeah, so we'll see.
- 15:31SPEAKER_08: We'll see what's in there.
- 15:31SPEAKER_08: We'll see what's in there.
- 15:32SPEAKER_08: Uh great big picture of Richie Sambora.
- 15:35SPEAKER_08: Um very young Richie Sambora.
- 15:37SPEAKER_08: Very young Richie Sambora.
- 15:38SPEAKER_08: That looks like from the Lay Your Hands on Me video.
- 15:40SPEAKER_08: I think that's what that is.
- 15:41SPEAKER_08: Could be.
- 15:41SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 15:42SPEAKER_08: Anyway, all right, so the very first, number 20, is uh Europe's the final countdown.
- 15:49SPEAKER_08: John Norham, the guitar player.
- 15:51SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 15:51SPEAKER_08: Do you even remember that guitar?
- 15:52SPEAKER_12: I don't remember the guitar soul, to be honest.
- 15:54SPEAKER_12: Because all I remember is that.
- 15:58SPEAKER_08: Alright, so let's let's fast forward here then.
- 16:01SPEAKER_12: I'm surprised they're not just playing the guitar.
- 16:04SPEAKER_08: Yeah, you would think that it would it would be uh Yeah.
- 16:09SPEAKER_14: Okay, here we go.
- 16:13SPEAKER_14: Oh, no, the magnet.
- 16:29SPEAKER_11: Would you put this on your lips?
- 16:31SPEAKER_12: Now I would, yeah.
- 16:33SPEAKER_12: I didn't even uh I wouldn't even thought about this one back.
- 16:45SPEAKER_08: Um, I may.
- 16:46SPEAKER_08: That would that wouldn't be one that pops in my head right away.
- 16:49SPEAKER_12: Yeah, but everybody knows the you know, you know the you know the keyboard part.
- 16:54SPEAKER_12: But i I think the guitar solo gets kind of buried.
- 16:57SPEAKER_08: Here's the thing, here's the thing about guitar solos, and you said it.
- 17:00SPEAKER_08: Um you said people aren't singing the guitar solos.
- 17:03SPEAKER_08: Stuff like this, I do sing the guitar solos.
- 17:05SPEAKER_08: But you're a guitar player.
- 17:07SPEAKER_08: Well, I think they're I think they're if it's a great guitar solo, you can sing it.
- 17:13SPEAKER_12: And people do kind of Well, I mean it but it's gotta be a really easy one, it's gotta be a memorable one.
- 17:18SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 17:19SPEAKER_12: For the like the average person.
- 17:22SPEAKER_12: Okay the average person doesn't care about the guitar solo.
- 17:24SPEAKER_12: I mean they like the guitar solo, but they're not, you know, oh it's it's gonna go to this, and you know, they're gonna you know.
- 17:30SPEAKER_12: You know, they're not analyzing it like musicians do.
- 17:33SPEAKER_12: And drummers.
- 17:34SPEAKER_08: I think it depends.
- 17:36SPEAKER_08: Uh uh I think you're right to an extent, but I think it depends.
- 17:39SPEAKER_08: Like, for example, um the guitar and I haven't looked at this list.
- 17:44SPEAKER_08: So I'm hoping this is on.
- 17:45SPEAKER_08: I think you're lying.
- 17:46SPEAKER_08: No, I haven't.
- 17:47SPEAKER_08: I'm hoping this is on here.
- 17:48SPEAKER_08: Um Guns N' Roses.
- 17:51SPEAKER_12: Sweet child of mine, sweet child of mine, or November Rain.
- 17:54SPEAKER_12: Well, there's not I don't know about the guitar solo on that.
- 17:57SPEAKER_12: Oh, come on.
- 17:58SPEAKER_12: But everybody knows doo doo doo doo doo doo doo.
- 18:00SPEAKER_12: Well that's not the solo.
- 18:01SPEAKER_12: I know, but everybody knows that guitar part.
- 18:04SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 18:04SPEAKER_12: Yeah, and they're probably and they're and that that's recognizable, so they're like, yeah.
- 18:07SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 18:09SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 18:09SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 18:09SPEAKER_12: I don't know if they sing it, but they know it.
- 18:12SPEAKER_12: I mean, if you mess it up, they're gonna know.
- 18:15SPEAKER_12: You don't they don't sing that part?
- 18:16unknown: Do.
- 18:17SPEAKER_12: Oh, we do.
- 18:19SPEAKER_12: I'm not saying everybody does.
- 18:20SPEAKER_12: I disagree.
- 18:21SPEAKER_08: Yeah, that's okay.
- 18:23SPEAKER_08: Uh, this is an interesting pick.
- 18:25SPEAKER_08: Number 19.
- 18:26SPEAKER_08: Long cold winter.
- 18:27SPEAKER_08: The title cut from Cinderella.
- 18:32SPEAKER_08: Let's see if we can get to the solo.
- 18:33SPEAKER_08: Oh, I remember the solo on this, yeah.
- 18:40SPEAKER_08: It's kind of an obscure cut.
- 18:41SPEAKER_08: It is, I wouldn't have thought of it.
- 18:47SPEAKER_08: Still probably the best Cinderella album.
- 19:17SPEAKER_08: This is awesome, but I wouldn't put it on my list.
- 19:22SPEAKER_12: I never would have thought of that.
- 19:24SPEAKER_08: To be honest with you, no, I I mean it wasn't even a single.
- 19:27SPEAKER_08: No.
- 19:27SPEAKER_08: You know, so I I don't know what what uh kind of criteria.
- 19:32SPEAKER_08: Oh, LA guns.
- 19:33SPEAKER_08: LA guns?
- 19:34SPEAKER_08: No mercy.
- 19:35SPEAKER_08: So I don't know if this one.
- 19:36SPEAKER_08: I don't either.
- 19:39SPEAKER_08: See if we can get to it.
- 19:54SPEAKER_12: Nothing really spectacular about it.
- 19:56SPEAKER_12: I mean, it's great.
- 19:57SPEAKER_12: Yeah, it's good, but yeah, there's nothing nothing earth shattering.
- 20:00SPEAKER_08: That's one that I would not.
- 20:01SPEAKER_08: This is weird.
- 20:02SPEAKER_08: Look at this.
- 20:02SPEAKER_08: Number 17.
- 20:03SPEAKER_08: Yes, under the gun.
- 20:05SPEAKER_08: This is Mark St.
- 20:06SPEAKER_08: John.
- 20:07SPEAKER_08: Uh the what I think is the one album that he did with them.
- 20:10SPEAKER_08: But this is like these are like album cuts.
- 20:43SPEAKER_12: I mean, it's it's good.
- 20:44SPEAKER_12: It's great.
- 20:45SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 20:45SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 20:46SPEAKER_08: But not not one I would have thought of.
- 20:48SPEAKER_08: No, me either.
- 20:49SPEAKER_08: Kind of obscure.
- 20:50SPEAKER_08: Oh, I might agree with this one.
- 20:52SPEAKER_08: Uh Carlos Cavaso from Quiet Riot.
- 20:55SPEAKER_08: Uh come on, feel the noise.
- 20:57SPEAKER_08: Uh of course I can't get to it.
- 20:59SPEAKER_08: Hold on one second here.
- 21:00SPEAKER_08: Why are you being stupid?
- 21:02SPEAKER_08: Oh, sign in to confirm your age.
- 21:06SPEAKER_08: Is it like a bad video or something?
- 21:18SPEAKER_08: Two factor notifications.
- 21:26SPEAKER_13: Why you gotta be a bitehead?
- 21:34SPEAKER_08: Yes, it's me.
- 21:36SPEAKER_13: Yes, I'm trying to look at a video.
- 21:39SPEAKER_13: Okay, I'm signed in.
- 21:41SPEAKER_08: I should have been signed in as it was it is.
- 21:51SPEAKER_08: What?
- 21:51SPEAKER_08: What the heck?
- 21:52SPEAKER_08: I'm not sure what is going on here.
- 21:55SPEAKER_13: Why are you being signed?
- 21:56SPEAKER_13: I'm signed in.
- 21:57SPEAKER_08: Sign up useful.
- 21:58SPEAKER_08: Not now.
- 21:58SPEAKER_08: Oh, not now.
- 21:59SPEAKER_08: Let's do this.
- 22:02SPEAKER_08: All right, here we go.
- 22:03SPEAKER_08: Yes, I I I would agree with this one.
- 22:05SPEAKER_08: So this is come on to the voice.
- 22:38SPEAKER_08: Now that's when you sing.
- 22:39SPEAKER_08: I sing, anyway.
- 22:45SPEAKER_08: Okay, I'm gonna I uh again, I promise you, I have not looked at this list.
- 22:49SPEAKER_08: I think uh Skidrow's I Remember You needs to be on here.
- 22:53SPEAKER_08: The guitar solo and I remember you.
- 22:55SPEAKER_08: You don't remember it.
- 22:56SPEAKER_12: I don't remember it.
- 22:57SPEAKER_08: I don't remember it.
- 22:58SPEAKER_08: You don't remember too.
- 22:59SPEAKER_08: Motley Crew, Home Sweet Home.
- 23:02SPEAKER_12: Really?
- 23:04SPEAKER_08: That's a telephone, that's my guitar solo.
- 23:07SPEAKER_08: That's a commercial.
- 23:08SPEAKER_08: Gee whiz.
- 23:10SPEAKER_08: Oh, wait, is that a commercial?
- 23:11SPEAKER_08: No, it's not a commercial.
- 23:30SPEAKER_08: I might agree with that.
- 23:39SPEAKER_12: It's probably one of his better ones.
- 23:41SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 23:49SPEAKER_08: Yeah, I might agree with that actually.
- 23:51SPEAKER_08: Uh Uncle Tom's Cabin.
- 23:54SPEAKER_08: Warrant.
- 23:55SPEAKER_08: Great song, but I don't really remember the guitar solo.
- 24:01SPEAKER_12: Oh.
- 24:24SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 24:25SPEAKER_08: Great.
- 24:26SPEAKER_08: I'm not sure I would put it on my list, but great.
- 24:28SPEAKER_08: It's a great guitar solo.
- 24:29SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 24:29SPEAKER_08: Vito Brana better be on here too.
- 24:31SPEAKER_12: Yeah, he better.
- 24:32SPEAKER_08: Let's see.
- 24:33SPEAKER_08: Firehouse, reach for the sky.
- 24:35SPEAKER_08: Really?
- 24:38SPEAKER_08: Interesting.
- 24:38SPEAKER_08: You know how I it's funny how I the guitar solo comes to the same point in every song.
- 24:45SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I was about to say, because you've been hitting it just about every time.
- 24:51unknown: Reach for the sky.
- 25:00SPEAKER_08: So this is number 13.
- 25:04SPEAKER_08: And this guy, uh Bill Leverdy, is actually my friend on Facebook.
- 25:08SPEAKER_08: Guitar player for Firehouse.
- 25:13SPEAKER_08: Not that that means anything.
- 25:24SPEAKER_08: Again, it's great.
- 25:26SPEAKER_08: Uh to me, forgettable.
- 25:29SPEAKER_12: I don't even remember the song.
- 25:30SPEAKER_12: I be I vaguely remembered the song.
- 25:33SPEAKER_08: Skid Row.
- 25:34SPEAKER_08: Midnight Tornado.
- 25:37SPEAKER_08: That's a good song.
- 25:38SPEAKER_08: It is.
- 25:57SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 25:58SPEAKER_08: Um photograph.
- 26:02SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 26:03SPEAKER_08: Uh now this I would be this would be iconic to me.
- 26:06SPEAKER_08: This this soul.
- 26:07SPEAKER_12: Yeah, but they're not hair metal.
- 26:08SPEAKER_08: That's true.
- 26:10SPEAKER_08: I don't consider them hair metal.
- 26:12SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 26:12SPEAKER_08: You're right.
- 26:17SPEAKER_08: But if they were, this would be on my list.
- 26:25SPEAKER_05: Because you can sing it.
- 26:38SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 26:39SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 26:39SPEAKER_08: If they were hair metal, I would put that on my list.
- 26:41SPEAKER_08: Photograph from Def Leopard.
- 26:43SPEAKER_08: Number 10, nothing but a good time.
- 26:44SPEAKER_08: Poison.
- 26:45SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I can see that.
- 26:46SPEAKER_08: Yeah, we're talking about we're talking about hair metal, right?
- 26:50SPEAKER_08: And this is a good tar soul.
- 26:52SPEAKER_08: Yeah, it is.
- 26:55SPEAKER_12: Did I miss it?
- 26:56SPEAKER_12: No.
- 26:57SPEAKER_12: It's coming up.
- 27:11SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 27:21SPEAKER_08: Oh.
- 27:22SPEAKER_08: Definitely.
- 27:22SPEAKER_08: Because I'm thinking it right now.
- 27:24SPEAKER_12: Well, I I always have to laugh now that I've I've read that book.
- 27:28SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 27:29SPEAKER_12: He wasn't the he wasn't the CCD Devil was not the original guitar.
- 27:34SPEAKER_12: But when he came in to audition, he didn't play anything that they did.
- 27:38SPEAKER_12: He just came in and just played whatever he wanted.
- 27:40SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 27:41SPEAKER_12: So it's just, it's kind of like.
- 27:50SPEAKER_08: Bad medicine, Bon Jovi.
- 27:52SPEAKER_08: Really?
- 27:52SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 27:52SPEAKER_12: I wouldn't have put this.
- 27:55SPEAKER_08: I don't know that I would have put this particular.
- 28:01SPEAKER_12: I would have put the wanted dead or alive solo in there.
- 28:04SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 28:05SPEAKER_08: Or maybe like I'll be there for you or something.
- 28:07SPEAKER_08: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 28:08SPEAKER_08: Or is living on Livin' on a prayer has a great solo.
- 28:12SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 28:18SPEAKER_08: Wait.
- 28:20SPEAKER_08: Oh, here we go.
- 28:22SPEAKER_08: Nope.
- 28:22SPEAKER_08: Nope.
- 28:23SPEAKER_08: This is a different this is a second verse.
- 28:27SPEAKER_08: There it is.
- 28:28SPEAKER_08: Hold on.
- 28:38SPEAKER_08: This is what he reaches around.
- 28:41SPEAKER_08: Yep.
- 28:46SPEAKER_08: Again, great guitar.
- 28:47SPEAKER_08: So I would have picked a different one from Richie.
- 28:50SPEAKER_08: Yeah, I don't know.
- 28:51SPEAKER_08: Oh, in my dreams.
- 28:52SPEAKER_08: So that's this is a great guitar.
- 28:55SPEAKER_08: Lynch is on the list.
- 28:56SPEAKER_08: So let's see.
- 29:12SPEAKER_12: Look, he's he's playing against himself.
- 29:15SPEAKER_11: In the sky.
- 29:22SPEAKER_08: 80s rock videos were so weird, man.
- 29:25SPEAKER_08: Well we loved them.
- 29:26SPEAKER_08: Oh I still love them.
- 29:27SPEAKER_08: I will agree with this one too.
- 29:28SPEAKER_08: Reb Beach from Winger, 17.
- 29:31SPEAKER_08: Oh, yeah.
- 29:32SPEAKER_11: This is a this is the breakdown, but the fast picking thing out.
- 30:12SPEAKER_08: Yeah, I'd easily put anything.
- 30:14SPEAKER_08: No, that was that's a good ballad that they did, Head for a Heartbreak.
- 30:17SPEAKER_12: Oh, yeah, that was a long guitar stuff.
- 30:19SPEAKER_12: That long that at the end there?
- 30:20SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 30:21SPEAKER_12: Oh yeah.
- 30:21SPEAKER_12: That was great.
- 30:22SPEAKER_12: That was like a 17-minute long guitar.
- 30:24SPEAKER_08: Who have we have not seen Vito Brada?
- 30:26SPEAKER_08: Nope.
- 30:26SPEAKER_08: Uh we haven't seen Eddie.
- 30:28SPEAKER_08: Of course, that's not really hairband.
- 30:29SPEAKER_08: Not really that.
- 30:31SPEAKER_12: I wouldn't consider him hair.
- 30:32SPEAKER_12: But I I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't show up on this list.
- 30:35SPEAKER_08: Oh no, I don't think he will either.
- 30:37SPEAKER_08: Uh Whitesnake.
- 30:39SPEAKER_08: But the Still of the Night?
- 30:40SPEAKER_12: Crying in the Rain.
- 30:41SPEAKER_12: Crying in the Rain?
- 30:42SPEAKER_12: Really?
- 30:42SPEAKER_12: Now it's great, but you're right.
- 30:44SPEAKER_12: Still of the Night.
- 30:45SPEAKER_12: Still of the Night would have been so much better.
- 30:47SPEAKER_12: Yeah, because he's playing it with a freaking bow.
- 30:50SPEAKER_12: Just kidding.
- 30:55SPEAKER_11: This is Sykes, right?
- 30:56SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 30:56SPEAKER_11: John Sykes.
- 30:58SPEAKER_11: Rest in peace.
- 31:08SPEAKER_08: See, are they going just for speed?
- 31:10SPEAKER_08: Is that what you know?
- 31:12SPEAKER_12: I don't, you know, I don't know.
- 31:13SPEAKER_12: I don't know the criteria.
- 31:15SPEAKER_12: I mean, is it like the Olympics?
- 31:16SPEAKER_12: They're going for, you know, difficulty and let's see.
- 31:18SPEAKER_08: Let's see what they say here.
- 31:20SPEAKER_08: Uh, you might be an 80s hard rock aficionado and guitar fanatic eager to see which of the air solids we deem the best.
- 31:25SPEAKER_08: We're glad you're here.
- 31:26SPEAKER_08: You might go you might also be blind with rage because we dare to categorize said 80s hard rock as hair metal.
- 31:32SPEAKER_08: Um if you fall into the latter camp, just know we hear you and your concerns are valid, but all the artists on this list did share some common DNA.
- 31:39SPEAKER_08: Blah blah blah.
- 31:41SPEAKER_08: Uh as we said about compiling the top 20 hair metal solos, we made some controversial inclusions and exclusions that are in all honesty arbitrary.
- 31:50SPEAKER_08: So we didn't actually knew that one.
- 31:52SPEAKER_08: Yeah, we knew Eddie was not gonna be happy.
- 31:53SPEAKER_08: Uh they were the godfathers of the style, but they were not hair band.
- 31:56SPEAKER_08: They had little in common with it sonically.
- 31:58SPEAKER_08: Same goes for Ozzy Osborne, so let me know who was Aquil, probably.
- 32:02SPEAKER_08: Uh or any of the things that's a good thing.
- 32:03SPEAKER_12: Well, there might be some uh Randy Rhodes.
- 32:06SPEAKER_08: Uh there might be.
- 32:08SPEAKER_08: Um on the flip side.
- 32:10SPEAKER_08: Okay, so I'm not gonna read anymore because we're we're getting to the bottom of the list here.
- 32:14SPEAKER_08: Because it it just told me what they did include.
- 32:16SPEAKER_08: Oh, okay.
- 32:17SPEAKER_08: Um I don't wanna know.
- 32:18SPEAKER_08: I don't wanna know either.
- 32:19SPEAKER_08: Okay, so White Snakes Crying in the Rain was number six.
- 32:23SPEAKER_08: Number five, thank you.
- 32:26SPEAKER_08: No bet and extreme.
- 32:29SPEAKER_12: Which one?
- 32:29SPEAKER_08: Uh-oh, yeah.
- 32:30SPEAKER_08: Play with me.
- 32:30SPEAKER_12: Play with me.
- 32:31SPEAKER_12: This is great.
- 32:35SPEAKER_08: Okay, we're gonna we're gonna get to the guitar solo here.
- 32:52SPEAKER_08: This is incredible.
- 32:54SPEAKER_08: Judo has taken the reins, by the way.
- 32:56SPEAKER_08: Oh, yeah.
- 32:56SPEAKER_08: I think.
- 33:42SPEAKER_12: I mean, uh it's actually hard to pick a a Nuno song that doesn't have an amazing guitar well.
- 33:49SPEAKER_08: You're absolutely right.
- 33:50SPEAKER_08: You're absolutely right.
- 33:51SPEAKER_08: You know what I mean?
- 33:51SPEAKER_08: Yep.
- 33:52SPEAKER_12: Uh he should really occupy the next five spaces.
- 33:56SPEAKER_12: I think so.
- 33:56SPEAKER_12: You know what I mean?
- 33:57SPEAKER_08: Well, I put veto in there.
- 33:58SPEAKER_08: Gotta put veto in there.
- 33:59SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 33:59SPEAKER_08: But uh rat.
- 34:01SPEAKER_12: Really?
- 34:02SPEAKER_08: Round and round.
- 34:04SPEAKER_08: Trying to remember the guitar solo for round and round.
- 34:14SPEAKER_08: Warren D.
- 34:15SPEAKER_08: Martini.
- 34:20SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 34:21SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I can I can see this.
- 34:23SPEAKER_11: This part right here.
- 34:38SPEAKER_08: Yeah, I would yeah, uh that's okay.
- 34:40SPEAKER_08: Iconic.
- 34:40SPEAKER_08: Yeah, I would put that on the list for sure.
- 34:42SPEAKER_08: Um, and we already mentioned Is it sweet Charles?
- 34:49SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 34:50SPEAKER_08: Yep.
- 34:52SPEAKER_12: So we get to put the guitar solo killer.
- 34:58SPEAKER_11: Yeah, yeah.
- 35:00SPEAKER_11: There's a couple guitar solos in this.
- 35:05SPEAKER_08: And I can sing it.
- 35:16SPEAKER_08: But you can do, yeah.
- 35:47SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 35:48SPEAKER_08: It's so memorable that you can sing it.
- 35:50SPEAKER_08: Okay, thank you.
- 35:51SPEAKER_08: Vito Brata.
- 35:53SPEAKER_08: White lion.
- 35:53SPEAKER_08: Which one?
- 35:54SPEAKER_08: White lion wait.
- 35:55SPEAKER_14: Oh, okay, yeah.
- 35:56SPEAKER_08: Yeah, and I'll agree with it.
- 36:37SPEAKER_08: Such a shame that he's not doing it.
- 36:39SPEAKER_08: I know, man.
- 36:40SPEAKER_12: He's just it's kind of the masters.
- 36:42SPEAKER_12: Almost heartbreaking.
- 36:43SPEAKER_12: It's like if Obi-Wan Kenobi stopped being a Jedi.
- 36:46SPEAKER_12: You know what I mean?
- 36:47SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 36:47SPEAKER_12: You would just be like, What?
- 36:49SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 36:49SPEAKER_08: If you don't know if you don't know what we're talking about, um after White Lions fourth album?
- 36:55SPEAKER_08: Third or fourth.
- 36:56SPEAKER_08: Because they had the the uh the early one before Pride.
- 37:01SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 37:01SPEAKER_08: Then they had Pride.
- 37:03SPEAKER_08: Then they had um Big Game, and then Main Attraction.
- 37:06SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 37:08SPEAKER_08: That was it.
- 37:08SPEAKER_08: I think that was it.
- 37:09SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 37:09SPEAKER_08: So the four albums.
- 37:11SPEAKER_08: Um then Beautabrata stopped like it's a good thing.
- 37:16SPEAKER_12: He just disappeared.

- 40:15SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 40:16SPEAKER_12: And I remember like the second day I was there, I went to the PX and I bought this on tape and put it in my Walkman, and that's all I listened to the entire week before that before the class started.

- 41:02SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 41:02SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 41:02SPEAKER_08: I think it's a good idea.
- 41:03SPEAKER_12: I think it's a great idea.
- 41:04SPEAKER_08: We haven't done our pics yet, Bob, but I do want to read his email here.
- 41:08SPEAKER_12: Well aren't we all going off the same band?
- 41:11SPEAKER_08: We just is that what we're doing?
- 41:13SPEAKER_12: Well yeah, we start off with the same we all start off with the same band, but then we what our you know picks are gonna be different.
- 41:19SPEAKER_12: So we're going by his Well we're by uh by the original list.
- 41:23SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 41:24SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 41:24SPEAKER_08: He says you can move the brackets around so that they are larger, the group B52 is maybe unclear.
- 41:30SPEAKER_08: Questions are the number one scenes legit?
- 41:33SPEAKER_08: So he's got number one seeds, Bon Jovi, Kiss, Van Halen, and the Beatles.
- 41:39SPEAKER_08: Uh will Nickelback be the Cinderella story, or will Doug quash their final four dreams?
- 41:52SPEAKER_12: Bob, I say with this with all the greatest greatest love for you, man, but uh That really sucks.
- 41:59SPEAKER_08: Or even in the latch.
- 42:01SPEAKER_08: Uh, his next question.
- 42:02SPEAKER_08: What is the closest matchup in round one?
- 42:04SPEAKER_08: My pick Aerosmith and Beach Boys matchup.
- 42:08SPEAKER_08: Uh bottom left is Jimi Hendrix.
- 42:10SPEAKER_08: I think he's just trying to clarify in case we can't read the right.
- 42:13SPEAKER_08: I would have placed the group Cinderella in the brackets, but everyone would pick them as an upset winner of the tournament.
- 42:18SPEAKER_08: In other words, their Cinderella choice.
- 42:21SPEAKER_08: Sorry.
- 42:21SPEAKER_08: And then he says, Do I get O'Brien's iconic drum roll?
- 42:24SPEAKER_08: Yes, you don't.
- 42:25SPEAKER_08: Yes, you do.
- 42:26SPEAKER_08: Um, so let me just look at what he wrote here.
- 42:29SPEAKER_08: See if I can make it bigger.
- 42:33SPEAKER_08: So uh Mr.
- 42:37SPEAKER_08: I swore on the last podcast.
- 42:44SPEAKER_08: It was in the context of the sword you also gave a forewarning.
- 42:47SPEAKER_08: I did give a forewarning that you did.
- 42:49SPEAKER_12: Sorry, my interchildren.
- 42:51SPEAKER_08: Okay, so I guess I'm gonna be completely honest with you.
- 42:57SPEAKER_08: Completely honest with you.
- 42:59SPEAKER_08: I've never done a picture.
- 43:00SPEAKER_08: I don't know how they work.
- 43:02SPEAKER_12: Well, it's it's really simple.
- 43:04SPEAKER_12: I mean, whoever's on.
- 43:05SPEAKER_08: So it's like whoever can't I can't see.
- 43:08SPEAKER_08: Bon Jovian, yes.
- 43:10SPEAKER_12: Okay, so whoever you game better will move on to the next bracket.
- 43:14SPEAKER_12: Well, that's tough.
- 43:15SPEAKER_08: Bon Jovian, yes?
- 43:16SPEAKER_08: They're two totally separate things.
- 43:19SPEAKER_08: Uh Foo Fighters and Oasis, obviously I put Foo Fighter Foo Fighters there.
- 43:22SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 43:23SPEAKER_08: So, but oh, and we do it for both sides?
- 43:26SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 43:26SPEAKER_12: Oh.
- 43:27SPEAKER_12: Until you get to the the final four, you know, the final eight, sweet sixteen, the final eight, final four.
- 43:34SPEAKER_08: So let me just read some of his matchups here.
- 43:36SPEAKER_08: Uh Bonjour V.
- 43:38SPEAKER_12: We're going by his we're gonna are we gonna copying his matchups?
- 43:41SPEAKER_12: I think we should start all start in the same So we're c we're copying his.
- 43:46SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 43:46SPEAKER_12: I think we should all start from that format right there.
- 43:49SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 43:49SPEAKER_08: And then the next one will be our pick.
- 43:51SPEAKER_12: Yeah, and then and it'll be individual from that break.
- 43:55SPEAKER_12: Yeah, we'll we'll we'll copy his.
- 43:57SPEAKER_08: Okay, so here's what he has.
- 43:59SPEAKER_08: Do I read here?
- 44:00SPEAKER_08: And then over here?
- 44:00SPEAKER_12: Or do I Well let's let wait until we get to our when we get our brackets done.
- 44:05SPEAKER_12: When we start doing this.
- 44:07SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 44:07SPEAKER_08: So So don't even do it.
- 44:09SPEAKER_08: No, no, yeah.
- 44:10SPEAKER_08: Don't even talk about it.
- 44:12SPEAKER_08: Not yet.

- 44:21SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 44:22SPEAKER_12: I like that.
- 44:24SPEAKER_12: I want to do it along with the actual tournament.
- 44:27SPEAKER_12: So uh I get it.
- 44:32SPEAKER_12: I mean ours isn't gonna make as much money, but uh I think I think it'll be good.
- 44:38SPEAKER_12: Let me do this.
- 44:52SPEAKER_14: Alright.
- 45:03SPEAKER_08: Alright, so let's do the path.
- 45:06SPEAKER_12: Okay, she did finally get back.

- 45:11SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I was like, you really funny, though.
- 45:15SPEAKER_12: Uh okay, so here we go.
- 45:21SPEAKER_12: Alright.
- 45:23SPEAKER_12: So this is what she said.
- 45:24SPEAKER_12: All the songs sound like perfect intro to a sitcom.
- 45:28SPEAKER_12: They all sound like ones I would enjoy watching.
- 45:30SPEAKER_12: But weird now won this week.
- 45:32SPEAKER_12: That one was epic.
- 45:33SPEAKER_08: Yeah, we knew that was gonna happen.
- 45:34SPEAKER_12: So uh she she went on to say, I laughed when I heard the question, immediately picked If you're gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough by Roger Allen Wade.
- 45:43SPEAKER_08: I don't know that was a song.
- 45:44SPEAKER_12: I don't know that it's all.
- 45:45SPEAKER_08: Hold on, we're gonna find out what that is.
- 45:49SPEAKER_08: If you're gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough.
- 45:54SPEAKER_08: By Roger Alan Wade.
- 45:58SPEAKER_08: Let's see.
- 46:00SPEAKER_08: Well, I have a I think this is it right here.
- 46:16SPEAKER_08: It's out of tune.
- 46:17SPEAKER_01: If you're gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough.
- 46:22SPEAKER_01: When you get knocked down, you gotta get back up.
- 46:25SPEAKER_08: If there's any swears, we apologize.
- 46:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 46:27SPEAKER_01: I ain't the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I know enough to know.
- 46:33SPEAKER_01: If you're gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough.
- 46:38SPEAKER_01: I lit my brain with rot gut whiskeys.
- 46:44SPEAKER_01: To my pain was chicken fried, and I had dudes with badges frisk me.
- 46:55SPEAKER_01: Teach me how to swallow pride.
- 47:00SPEAKER_01: I took advice, no food would take.
- 47:05SPEAKER_01: I got some habits I can't shake.
- 47:10SPEAKER_01: I ain't the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I know enough to know.
- 47:16SPEAKER_01: If you're gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough.
- 47:20SPEAKER_08: Alright, alright.
- 47:21SPEAKER_01: If you're gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough.
- 47:24SPEAKER_08: Roger Allen Wade.
- 47:26SPEAKER_08: I like it.
- 47:26SPEAKER_08: I do too.
- 47:27SPEAKER_08: Yeah, that's cool.
- 47:29SPEAKER_08: Alright.
- 47:30SPEAKER_08: Uh so now we're gonna do present.
- 47:35SPEAKER_12: Okay, so oh.
- 47:37SPEAKER_08: I'm gonna lose this week, just so you know.
- 47:39SPEAKER_12: I don't even remember what the question was.
- 47:41SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 47:41SPEAKER_12: Tract one of the best road tip road trip mixtape ever created.
- 47:46SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 47:47SPEAKER_12: So now I want to change my answer.
- 47:50SPEAKER_12: Then you got time.
- 47:51SPEAKER_08: Yeah, but I anyway.
- 47:53SPEAKER_08: All right.
- 47:53SPEAKER_08: I'll wait and see what you guys pick.
- 47:55SPEAKER_12: Alright, so let's go to the amazing cousin Larry.
- 48:04SPEAKER_08: Is that his theme song?
- 48:05SPEAKER_12: He should he should have a theme song.
- 48:07SPEAKER_12: He should way better than that one.
- 48:09SPEAKER_12: Uh okay, this is what Cousin Larry said.
- 48:11SPEAKER_12: Mixtape.
- 48:12SPEAKER_12: I like the question because the possibilities are endless.
- 48:15SPEAKER_12: There are songs like Jackie Wilson's Higher and Higher that make me happy.
- 48:19SPEAKER_12: Long, cool woman in a black dress by the Hollies makes me want to dance.
- 48:22SPEAKER_12: But if I want to get fired up, it's gotta be something by ACDC, Van Halen, Metallica, or Bob Seeger.
- 48:28SPEAKER_12: I'm sure O'Brien will guess what I am picking as he mentioned last week.
- 48:32SPEAKER_12: I gotta go with Highway to Hell by ACDC with honorable mention to Panama by Van Halen, Fuel by Metallica, and Seeger's old time rock and roll.
- 48:42SPEAKER_08: Alright.
- 48:49SPEAKER_08: So this is the first song.
- 48:51SPEAKER_12: This first song of his uh road trip mixed tape.
- 48:55SPEAKER_08: Yeah, come on.
- 48:58SPEAKER_08: This is a lyric video, so the quality is not very good.
- 49:10SPEAKER_08: This isn't even easy to be.
- 49:15SPEAKER_08: Is it?
- 49:18SPEAKER_08: I don't think it is.
- 49:19SPEAKER_08: You don't think so?
- 49:23SPEAKER_08: I think it's like an impression.
- 49:26SPEAKER_12: If it is, it's really darn good.
- 49:40SPEAKER_08: I just just bear with me here because I think I don't think that was it already sounds different.
- 49:47SPEAKER_14: No, okay, this sounds well.
- 49:54SPEAKER_08: Yeah, this is the real ACDC.
- 50:17SPEAKER_11: I gotta say that other one was that's a really darn good good, right?
- 50:41SPEAKER_12: Excellent choice.
- 50:42SPEAKER_08: Good choice.
- 50:42SPEAKER_08: All right, what's yours?
- 50:44SPEAKER_12: Mine is chicken foot, big foot.
- 50:48SPEAKER_08: Oh great track.
- 50:54SPEAKER_08: Um Yeah, because this is just I mean come on.
- 52:06SPEAKER_12: I mean, yeah, I got my hands on the wheel and my big foot on the gas.
- 52:10SPEAKER_12: I mean, that is the start of a road trip.
- 52:13SPEAKER_08: Come on.
- 52:13SPEAKER_08: Come on! Alright.
- 52:15SPEAKER_08: I'm uh can I do my honorable mention first?
- 52:18SPEAKER_08: Sure.
- 52:18SPEAKER_08: Okay, so this isn't the one I picked.
- 52:20SPEAKER_08: This is I was going between these two.
- 52:23SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 52:23SPEAKER_13: Uh so uh why are you doing that?
- 52:26SPEAKER_13: I'm gonna pick next week.
- 52:29SPEAKER_08: Question Question.
- 52:35SPEAKER_08: Oh yeah! Great choice.
- 52:38SPEAKER_08: White lions version of Raidar Love.
- 52:40SPEAKER_08: Absolutely.
- 52:40SPEAKER_08: So this is an honorable mention.
- 52:42SPEAKER_08: This is not the one I picked.
- 52:50SPEAKER_12: I mean, right?
- 52:52SPEAKER_12: Oh yeah, right there.
- 52:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 52:56SPEAKER_12: Oh the song, the old song's about driving somewhere.
- 52:59SPEAKER_08: It is.
- 52:59SPEAKER_08: Okay, so I I debated whether to change back to this.
- 53:05SPEAKER_08: But I'm gonna I'm gonna be obscure.
- 53:08SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 53:10SPEAKER_08: Um so that was my honorable mention.
- 53:14SPEAKER_08: So there's a song that you aren't gonna know, um, our judge is not gonna know, and cousin Larry is not gonna know.
- 53:24SPEAKER_08: Alright.
- 53:24SPEAKER_08: But that doesn't mean I don't know it, and this is my damn mixtape.
- 53:30SPEAKER_08: Right?
- 53:30SPEAKER_08: This is the Wade Bowen song.
- 53:32SPEAKER_08: It is a Wade Bowen song.
- 53:34SPEAKER_08: Um So Wade Bowen is a um country singer, I guess.
- 53:41SPEAKER_08: Country-ish.
- 53:42SPEAKER_08: Country-ish singer from Texas.
- 53:44SPEAKER_08: Kind of like uh uh red dirt country, if you will.
- 53:48SPEAKER_08: Um and there's a song, a very positive song from his 2014 self-titled album, uh called When I Woke Up Today.
- 53:56SPEAKER_08: And this is the one I would start my my uh disc with.
- 54:01SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 54:02SPEAKER_08: Okay, it's very positive.
- 54:04SPEAKER_08: Um and but it sounds almost sounds like a petty song.
- 54:08SPEAKER_06: Uh, morning one, nice.
- 55:13SPEAKER_08: Dealing with the pain and trying to make a dream fly, uncertain roads, and the thrill of the chase.
- 55:19SPEAKER_08: I'm missing words here, but um man, I sure felt life's embrace when I woke up today.
- 55:23SPEAKER_12: There we go.
- 55:25SPEAKER_08: Come on now.
- 55:26SPEAKER_04: So that's that's my name of the podcast.

- 55:57SPEAKER_08: Yes.
- 55:58SPEAKER_08: And yours was Chickenfoot.
- 56:01SPEAKER_08: Chickenfoot, Bigfoot.
- 56:02SPEAKER_08: Bigfoot! My chicken foot.
- 56:04SPEAKER_08: Cousin Larry.
- 56:05SPEAKER_08: Highway to hell.
- 56:05SPEAKER_08: Highway to hell, you can't go wrong with any of them as far as I'm concerned.
- 56:09SPEAKER_08: Uh she's got a work cut out for him.
- 56:12SPEAKER_08: She does.
- 56:12SPEAKER_08: Um, I fully expect to lose this next one, next time, but that's okay.
- 56:16SPEAKER_08: All right, let's do the future.
- 56:17SPEAKER_11: Let's do the future.
- 56:18SPEAKER_12: Okay, future question.
- 56:20SPEAKER_12: If you had an amazing voice, what song would you have sung to your spouse at your wedding?
- 56:33SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 56:44SPEAKER_13: That's what the question said.
- 56:46SPEAKER_12: I don't question the question.
- 57:17SPEAKER_08: Did you you didn't get any shadow in that picture?
- 57:19SPEAKER_12: Oh, there's always shadow in there.
- 57:21SPEAKER_08: He can read it.
- 57:23SPEAKER_12: I can't even read this one.
- 57:31SPEAKER_08: So Doug's taking a picture of the question to send it to the case.
- 57:34SPEAKER_12: That's what I always do.
- 57:34SPEAKER_12: I take the picture of the questi I can picture the question.
- 57:41SPEAKER_08: I should take a picture of you taking a picture of it.

- 59:29SPEAKER_08: Alright, kill it! Doug's gonna read from A Hard Day's Right.
- 59:35SPEAKER_12: Yes.
- 59:36SPEAKER_12: And this week's song is There's a Place, which is a true statement.
- 59:42unknown: There is.
- 59:42SPEAKER_12: Uh, just as misery indicated the feelings of isolation and rejection, which would become a major preoccupation in John's songs.
- 59:50SPEAKER_12: So there's a place introduced what was to become a recurring theme in finding comfort in his thoughts, dreams, and memories.
- 59:57SPEAKER_12: And there's a place John deals with his life's sorrow of retreating into the safety of his inner thoughts, and in a more sophisticated way, this is what would characterize later songs, such as Strawberry Fields Forever, Girl, In My Life, Rain, I'm Only Sleeping, Tomorrow Never Knows, and so many others.
- 1:00:15SPEAKER_12: The usual the usual Lennon thing, he comment with reference to There's a Place.
- 1:00:24SPEAKER_12: It's all in your mind.
- 1:00:26SPEAKER_12: He was a combination of introversion and extroversion, says Thelma McGow, who has Thelma and Pickles.
- 1:00:31SPEAKER_12: Did I already do this?
- 1:00:34SPEAKER_12: Because I remember it was like, Yeah, I did do this not too long ago.
- 1:00:40SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:00:41SPEAKER_12: I thought I was doing something really fun.
- 1:00:45SPEAKER_12: Aww.
- 1:00:46SPEAKER_08: Do you want to pick a different one?
- 1:00:48SPEAKER_12: Nah.
- 1:00:48SPEAKER_08: You wanna finish it?
- 1:00:50SPEAKER_08: Nah.
- 1:00:52SPEAKER_08: Let's listen just a second.
- 1:00:53SPEAKER_12: Yeah, let's just listen to the song.
- 1:01:27SPEAKER_08: Just means that you're old too, because you forgot.
- 1:01:31SPEAKER_08: It's a big book.
- 1:01:33SPEAKER_08: It's a big book.
- 1:01:35SPEAKER_08: We are on episode 233.
- 1:01:37SPEAKER_08: How long have we been reading from that book?
- 1:01:40SPEAKER_12: Oh, geez.
- 1:01:41SPEAKER_12: Well, ever since we stopped reading from the alphabet books.
- 1:01:44SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 1:01:44SPEAKER_08: And how many songs do the Beatles have?
- 1:01:46SPEAKER_08: That are cover.
- 1:01:47SPEAKER_08: Is that cover every song?
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:01:49SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:01:50SPEAKER_12: It even cover I mean, I think I'm gonna have to start like the later chapters have the ones from like uh the anthologies.
- 1:01:57SPEAKER_12: Yep.
- 1:01:57SPEAKER_12: Uh the ones that, you know, that were like, you know, B sides and stuff like that.
- 1:02:04SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 1:02:05SPEAKER_08: So Alright.
- 1:02:07SPEAKER_08: Well, that's okay, we'll get it together.
- 1:02:08SPEAKER_12: Well, okay, so it was there's a place, it's a great song.
- 1:02:11SPEAKER_12: The Beatles did it.
- 1:02:13SPEAKER_12: Go screw yourself.
- 1:02:15SPEAKER_08: Sorry, Blanchard Kids.
- 1:02:17SPEAKER_12: Sorry, Blanchard Kids.
- 1:02:18SPEAKER_12: That wasn't directed at you.
- 1:02:20SPEAKER_12: That was more directed at me.
- 1:02:25SPEAKER_12: What has two thumbs and is stupid.
- 1:02:28SPEAKER_08: This guy.
- 1:02:30SPEAKER_08: Alright.
- 1:02:31SPEAKER_08: Uh so I have an album.
- 1:02:36SPEAKER_08: I don't think you're gonna get it.
- 1:02:38SPEAKER_08: Alright.
- 1:02:38SPEAKER_08: I'll I'll I'll I'll humor you.
- 1:02:43SPEAKER_04: And come on, I mean, come on!
- 1:02:48SPEAKER_08: Uh I'll humor you and let you ask a few questions, and then if I don't think you're getting even close, I don't even know if you know who this guy is, but we'll Is it that guy?
- 1:02:57SPEAKER_08: No, it's not that guy.
- 1:02:58SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 1:02:58SPEAKER_08: No.
- 1:02:59SPEAKER_08: I don't know who that is either.
- 1:03:00SPEAKER_08: No.
- 1:03:01SPEAKER_12: Um looks like Billy Owen.
- 1:03:05SPEAKER_08: It says Billy Dean.
- 1:03:06SPEAKER_12: Oh, from here it looks like Billy Owen.
- 1:03:09SPEAKER_12: Really?
- 1:03:11SPEAKER_12: Well, I'm looking through the bifolds too.
- 1:03:13SPEAKER_08: Oh, there you go.
- 1:03:14SPEAKER_08: Okay, so uh let uh let uh guessing begin.
- 1:03:19SPEAKER_08: Is it a band?
- 1:03:20SPEAKER_08: No.

- 1:03:22SPEAKER_12: Yep.
- 1:03:24SPEAKER_12: What's his name?
- 1:03:33SPEAKER_12: Um when was he popular?
- 1:03:37SPEAKER_12: Is he still popular?
- 1:03:38SPEAKER_12: Is he still right?
- 1:03:39SPEAKER_08: He's he's are he's still alive.
- 1:03:41SPEAKER_08: Uh and is he still playing?

- 1:03:44SPEAKER_08: Is he playing an instrument?
- 1:03:44SPEAKER_08: Yeah, plays guitar.
- 1:03:46SPEAKER_08: Um popular in the 70s.
- 1:03:49SPEAKER_08: And I suppose popular in the eighties.
- 1:03:51SPEAKER_08: Not overly popular, kind of a cult following.
- 1:03:54SPEAKER_08: Um Charlie Manson.
- 1:03:56SPEAKER_08: No.
- 1:03:56SPEAKER_08: Uh cult following.
- 1:03:58SPEAKER_08: He has two very talented kids that are also singer-songwriters.
- 1:04:02SPEAKER_08: Ricky Nelson.
- 1:04:03SPEAKER_08: No.

- 1:04:14SPEAKER_08: Do you remember there was a few episodes where there was a guitar?
- 1:04:16SPEAKER_08: Oh, we talked about this guy.
- 1:04:17SPEAKER_08: He was a guitar player.
- 1:04:18SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:04:18SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:04:19SPEAKER_08: You probably don't remember his guitar.
- 1:04:20SPEAKER_08: I don't remember his name.
- 1:04:21SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 1:04:21SPEAKER_12: I remember we talked about him not too long ago.
- 1:04:22SPEAKER_08: Okay, so so not too long ago, did we do this album?
- 1:04:26SPEAKER_12: I don't know.
- 1:04:26SPEAKER_12: I don't know what you're talking about.
- 1:04:29SPEAKER_08: I'm gonna tell you now because I don't think you're gonna get his name.
- 1:04:31SPEAKER_08: Loud and Wainwright the third.
- 1:04:33SPEAKER_08: Oh yeah, yeah, we talked about him.
- 1:04:34SPEAKER_08: Did we play it?
- 1:04:35SPEAKER_08: Did we do it?
- 1:04:35SPEAKER_12: I don't remember.
- 1:04:36SPEAKER_12: We we were talking about something.
- 1:04:38SPEAKER_08: I wonder if he gave it up because I picked it up like at Boom Moose or something, and then we're talking about it.
- 1:04:43SPEAKER_08: Oh, yeah, maybe that was.
- 1:04:43SPEAKER_08: Maybe that's what it was.
- 1:04:44SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:04:45SPEAKER_08: Uh Loud and Wainwright the third is kooky.
- 1:04:48SPEAKER_12: Yeah, he is he's an odd duck.
- 1:04:49SPEAKER_08: He's an odd duck, but uh fantastic songwriter.
- 1:04:53SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:04:54SPEAKER_08: Um a lot of funny stuff.
- 1:04:57SPEAKER_08: Uh this is a the album that I picked is called Career Moves.
- 1:05:00SPEAKER_08: And it's basically like a greatest hit.
- 1:05:02SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 1:05:03SPEAKER_08: Um but uh let me let's see.
- 1:05:07SPEAKER_08: I think I've played this one before because it was so poignant.
- 1:05:16SPEAKER_08: This is about his divorce from his wife.
- 1:05:19SPEAKER_08: And it was basically a letter to his kids.
- 1:05:22SPEAKER_12: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 1:05:23SPEAKER_12: We we played this one.
- 1:05:24SPEAKER_12: Did we play this one?
- 1:05:25SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:05:25SPEAKER_08: See, you and I are both losing our minds.
- 1:05:28SPEAKER_12: Well, you can't really lose what you never had.
- 1:05:30SPEAKER_12: So I don't know.
- 1:05:33SPEAKER_08: This is called your mother and I.
- 1:05:41SPEAKER_00: Your mother and I are living apart.
- 1:05:47SPEAKER_00: I know that seems stupid, but we weren't very smart.
- 1:05:51SPEAKER_00: You'll stay with her.
- 1:05:54SPEAKER_00: I'll visit you at Christmas.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_00: On a weekend in the summertime Your mother and I are not getting along.
- 1:06:14SPEAKER_00: Somehow, somewhere something went wrong.
- 1:06:18SPEAKER_00: Everything changes and time takes its toll.
- 1:06:26SPEAKER_00: Your folks fell in love.
- 1:06:30SPEAKER_00: Love's a very deep.
- 1:06:32SPEAKER_08: Yeah, we have talked about that.
- 1:06:34SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:06:36SPEAKER_12: But it wasn't it wasn't part of the wall of tunes.
- 1:06:40SPEAKER_12: It was in context of something else.
- 1:06:42SPEAKER_08: I I I think it might have been when I bought it.
- 1:06:45SPEAKER_12: It's gotta be, yeah.
- 1:06:46SPEAKER_12: I think it might have been when I bought it.
- 1:06:49SPEAKER_12: I gotta check the uh I gotta check the list.
- 1:06:52SPEAKER_08: See if he see if he's on the list.
- 1:06:54SPEAKER_08: Uh so that was a kind of a poignant tune.
- 1:06:56SPEAKER_00: This is uh Suddenly it's Christmas, right after Halloween.
- 1:07:00SPEAKER_00: Forget about Thanksgiving, it's just a buffet in between.
- 1:07:04SPEAKER_00: There's lights and tinsel in the windows, they're stocking up the shelves.
- 1:07:09SPEAKER_00: Santa's slaving at the North Pole in his sweatshop full of elves.
- 1:07:15SPEAKER_00: That's got to be a buildup till the day that Christ was born.
- 1:07:19SPEAKER_00: The halls are decked with pumpkins and ears of Indian corn, dragging through the falling leaves in a one-horse open sleigh.
- 1:07:29SPEAKER_00: Suddenly it's Christmas, seven weeks before the day.
- 1:07:33SPEAKER_00: Suddenly it's Christmas, the longest holiday.
- 1:07:37SPEAKER_00: When they say seasons, greetings, they mean just what they say.
- 1:07:42SPEAKER_00: It's a season, it's a marathon, retail eternity, and it's not over till it's over, and you throw away the trade.
- 1:07:52SPEAKER_12: We have never done him.
- 1:07:53SPEAKER_12: Really?
- 1:07:54SPEAKER_12: Yep.
- 1:07:54SPEAKER_00: Outside it's positively balmy in the air, and area nip.
- 1:08:00SPEAKER_00: Suddenly it's Christmas.
- 1:08:02SPEAKER_00: Unbutton and unzip.
- 1:08:04SPEAKER_00: Yes, they're working overtime.
- 1:08:06SPEAKER_00: Santa's little runt.
- 1:08:09SPEAKER_00: Christmas comes but once a year and goes on for two months.
- 1:08:15SPEAKER_00: Christmas carols in December and November too.
- 1:08:20SPEAKER_00: It's no wonder we're depressed when the whole thing is through.
- 1:08:25SPEAKER_00: Finally it's January.
- 1:08:27SPEAKER_00: Let's sing old anxiety.
- 1:08:29SPEAKER_00: But here comes another heartache, shaped like a Valentine.
- 1:08:36SPEAKER_00: Suddenly it's Christmas, along as the holiday.
- 1:08:40SPEAKER_00: The season is upon us, a pot that won't go away.
- 1:08:44SPEAKER_00: It's a season, it's a marathon.
- 1:08:47SPEAKER_00: Retail eternity, and it's not over till it's over, and you throw away the tree.
- 1:08:53SPEAKER_00: No, it's not over till it's over, and you throw away the tree.
- 1:08:58SPEAKER_00: It's still not over till it's over and you throw away the tree.
- 1:09:05SPEAKER_08: Suddenly it's Christmases in the name of that.
- 1:09:07SPEAKER_08: So it's a mix of songs that are really funny or or kind of like just hit you in the gut.
- 1:09:14SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 1:09:15SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:09:15SPEAKER_08: Um trying to think of a another good example.
- 1:09:18SPEAKER_00: Hey, let's do the swimming song.
- 1:09:20SPEAKER_08: The swimming song.
- 1:09:38SPEAKER_00: This summer I might have drowned.
- 1:09:46SPEAKER_00: Move my arms around.
- 1:09:48SPEAKER_08: He can write a song about anything.
- 1:09:49SPEAKER_08: Yeah, basically.
- 1:09:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:09:54SPEAKER_08: So anyway, um I like his stuff.
- 1:09:56SPEAKER_08: I like I like his delivery.
- 1:09:57SPEAKER_08: It's he's odd, like I said, he's quirky.
- 1:10:00SPEAKER_08: But uh what what hooked me was that song Your Mother and I.
- 1:10:04SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:10:04SPEAKER_08: It's a great song.
- 1:10:05SPEAKER_08: Just you know, it's never the kids' fault.
- 1:10:08SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 1:10:08SPEAKER_08: You know, and and I think that was that was uh his way of telling his kids.
- 1:10:13SPEAKER_08: Who, by the way, are Rufus Wainwright and Martha uh Martha Wainwright.
- 1:10:18SPEAKER_08: Um big time songwriters and Rufus, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:10:24SPEAKER_08: Um so yeah.
- 1:10:26SPEAKER_08: So that's uh that's the album of the weekend.
- 1:10:34SPEAKER_08: I guess my firewall.
- 1:10:37SPEAKER_08: Okay, so that is episode 233.
- 1:10:48SPEAKER_12: Until then, I'm O'Brien! Yeah, we still gotta figure out I mean come on.
- 1:10:56SPEAKER_08: Let me say it again.
