- 1:09Speaker 1: Gem Welcome to the Dropping Gems podcast. We're back at it.
- 1:14Speaker 1: I'm Debbie Brown, your host. You know, astrology is really
- 1:18Speaker 1: having such a gorgeous moment in the sun right now. Obviously, uh,
- 1:23Speaker 1: for those who are familiar with astrology, it's older than time.
- 1:29Speaker 1: The art of astrology, the science of astrology. You know,
- 1:32Speaker 1: It's one of the oldest and most sacred forms of
- 1:36Speaker 1: not just recording history, but of people being able to
- 1:40Speaker 1: begin to glimpse God sometimes and to experience themselves lee
- 1:46Speaker 1: back in antiquity, and now it is coming really full
- 1:50Speaker 1: circle and having such a beautiful moment of awareness, I
- 1:53Speaker 1: think for so many of us, especially during the pandemic. Now, astrology,
- 1:57Speaker 1: I also know, is going to be a hot button
- 2:00Speaker 1: for some folks listening to this show as you began
- 2:03Speaker 1: to build your own recipe of self care and your
- 2:06Speaker 1: own recipe of the framework you create for your life
- 2:10Speaker 1: to access God and to know yourself more deeply. I
- 2:13Speaker 1: think with astrology, especially in some communities, there's so many
- 2:17Speaker 1: misunderstandings about what it is, and for a long time
- 2:20Speaker 1: in our mainstream society it's kind of been regulated to
- 2:24Speaker 1: the backs of magazines or you know, the sides of boxes,
- 2:27Speaker 1: or just something that you do for entertainment or to
- 2:30Speaker 1: be fun or silly. You know, the things like the
- 2:34Speaker 1: back of Cosmo magazine where it's like, you know, sexy
- 2:37Speaker 1: tips for capricorns or you know, something like that. But
- 2:41Speaker 1: astrology is actually really one of the first sciences, along
- 2:46Speaker 1: with ayur Veda. It is a system of planetary mapping.
- 2:50Speaker 1: It is a way to really begin to interpret and
- 2:55Speaker 1: dive into some of the complexities and challenges that we
- 2:58Speaker 1: face here on Earth, and so some of the themes
- 3:01Speaker 1: of what art individual lives are going to look like.
- 3:04Speaker 1: When I was a girl, When I was a little girl,
- 3:06Speaker 1: I used to love astrology. I was definitely one of
- 3:09Speaker 1: the one of the people that bought those little astrology
- 3:11Speaker 1: scrolls that would be at the supermarket when you were
- 3:14Speaker 1: checking out next to the gum anybody else remember that
- 3:17Speaker 1: I'd get those, And I was such a proud little Gemini. Um,
- 3:23Speaker 1: I love being a Gemini. I'm born in June, and
- 3:25Speaker 1: as I got older, my understanding of astrology started to deepen.
- 3:29Speaker 1: So I got my very first birth chart reading ten
- 3:33Speaker 1: years ago with an amazing um gentleman that does Yodish astrology,
- 3:38Speaker 1: and it was so interesting to hear my life broken
- 3:43Speaker 1: down from roughly zero to nine and what all the
- 3:48Speaker 1: stages of my life with the greater themes of it
- 3:51Speaker 1: would look like. And then, Um, I've gotten more birth
- 3:55Speaker 1: charts done over the years, and a recent one that
- 3:58Speaker 1: I got, which was through Adic astrology, was really beautiful
- 4:02Speaker 1: and so fascinating to me because it went as far
- 4:06Speaker 1: as breaking down what my personality traits were going to
- 4:10Speaker 1: be based on when I was born, where I was born,
- 4:13Speaker 1: the time that I was born, and also really broke
- 4:16Speaker 1: down some very significant things that were meant to happen
- 4:20Speaker 1: to me in a span of five years that started
- 4:23Speaker 1: last year, and so far it's all been wildly accurate
- 4:28Speaker 1: to the point that I'm shook uh. And it's also
- 4:34Speaker 1: been a really beautiful way to enhance my journey. So
- 4:38Speaker 1: something I speak to quite a bit is I am
- 4:40Speaker 1: a fan of all the tools. You know, I think
- 4:42Speaker 1: that we should be really applying selfology to ourselves, really
- 4:47Speaker 1: investigating ourselves, finding our perfect recipe for our spirituality. You know,
- 4:53Speaker 1: when I think of my spiritual life in my toolbox,
- 4:56Speaker 1: the biggest thing that anchors my toolbox is the career
- 5:00Speaker 1: later God, Father, Mother, God, divine source. I also have
- 5:04Speaker 1: in that box astrology and meditation and well being and
- 5:09Speaker 1: energy healing and intuitiveness, and you know, I throw a
- 5:13Speaker 1: deca tarot cards in that toolbox. And there are so
- 5:17Speaker 1: many beautiful systems of belief that have allowed me to
- 5:21Speaker 1: get closer to God than I have ever been in
- 5:24Speaker 1: my life and to get closer to myself than I
- 5:27Speaker 1: have probably ever been in any lifetime. And so today's
- 5:32Speaker 1: show is going to be all about unpacking the joys
- 5:37Speaker 1: and the gifts of astrology. I love, love, love talking
- 5:43Speaker 1: about this stuff. And for anyone wondering, I am a
- 5:47Speaker 1: Gemini son a gem and I moon with Leo rising,
- 5:52Speaker 1: So that means when you say what is your rising sign?
- 5:55Speaker 1: That means that even though I'm a Gemini, some of
- 5:58Speaker 1: my characteristic traits, my look closer to a Leo, and
- 6:02Speaker 1: some of the experiences I have or the ways that
- 6:04Speaker 1: I'm perceived might be a little more Leo, which I'm
- 6:08Speaker 1: so fine with that. So today's show we're gonna be
- 6:11Speaker 1: talking about not just really understanding what is astrology and
- 6:15Speaker 1: its gifts how to apply it to your life, but
- 6:18Speaker 1: we're gonna be going over as well because something that
- 6:22Speaker 1: has actually been comforting, uh in one of the most
- 6:27Speaker 1: potentially challenging and terrifying years of many of our lives,
- 6:31Speaker 1: that was is noticing what did the stars have to
- 6:36Speaker 1: say about what were some of the predictions there, and
- 6:39Speaker 1: what were some of the energies that were brought forward
- 6:42Speaker 1: because of planetary alignment and why? And we're also going
- 6:46Speaker 1: to dive into what are some of the themes of
- 6:50Speaker 1: twenty twenty one? What have the stars aligned to tell
- 6:54Speaker 1: us about how this next year will unfold? So today's
- 6:58Speaker 1: guest on the show is an amazing embodied astrologer, Renee Sills.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Embodied Astrology is written and produced by Renee Sills. That
- 7:08Speaker 1: is her amazing podcast. She is an astrologer's daughter. Renee
- 7:13Speaker 1: grew up speaking the language of astrology and has been
- 7:16Speaker 1: practicing as an astrologer since two thousand and twelve. She
- 7:20Speaker 1: offers her clients chart interpretations that include individualized yoga, meditation,
- 7:25Speaker 1: and self care regimens. Renee has been a yoga teacher
- 7:29Speaker 1: since two thousand and four and is the co founder
- 7:32Speaker 1: and co director of SOLA School of Contemplative Arts, a
- 7:36Speaker 1: somatics and mindfulness based yoga teacher training program that has
- 7:41Speaker 1: a strong focus on accessibility and social justice. Embodied Astrology
- 7:45Speaker 1: is one of many creative projects that keep Renee's life
- 7:48Speaker 1: full and joyful. She works primarily as a socially engaged
- 7:53Speaker 1: artist and Renee is also the host of the astrology podcast,
- 7:57Speaker 1: Embodied Astrology. Welcome to the show, renew Hi, thank you
- 8:01Speaker 1: so much for having me here, thank you, I listen,
- 8:05Speaker 1: I stand, I stand for all things in the stars.
- 8:09Speaker 1: It's so it's so interesting, um Rennee. You know, I
- 8:13Speaker 1: feel like astrology is really having like such a beautiful
- 8:16Speaker 1: moment in the sun right now, especially with COVID and
- 8:18Speaker 1: the pandemic. It's like people are really locking in to
- 8:22Speaker 1: find more tools and deeper understandings of themselves of the world.
- 8:27Speaker 1: And so I'm noticing, you know, people in my life
- 8:31Speaker 1: that normally would not want to hear about this or
- 8:34Speaker 1: telling me like, well, you know, mercury isn't retrograde. So
- 8:40Speaker 1: and it's so it's so beautiful because astrology is really um,
- 8:47Speaker 1: at least in my opinion, you know, one of the
- 8:49Speaker 1: oldest and most sacred forms of self investigation and journeying work.
- 8:55Speaker 1: You know, it was really like the first form of
- 8:57Speaker 1: it that we really had, even before or religion was created.
- 9:01Speaker 1: M Yeah, I think it's um. It's a really brilliant
- 9:06Speaker 1: technology for uh connecting ourselves with the phenomenal world, with
- 9:11Speaker 1: the Earth and the universe and the cosmos. Yeah. Yeah,
- 9:15Speaker 1: I became there was a period of my life where
- 9:17Speaker 1: I got really addicted to birth charts. I have had
- 9:22Speaker 1: my birth chart done um, so so so many times. UM,
- 9:27Speaker 1: But you know what I found really beautiful and I
- 9:30Speaker 1: would love your thoughts on this. You know, every time
- 9:32Speaker 1: that I've done, probably over the last ten years of
- 9:35Speaker 1: birth chart reading, there's always like, depending on the person
- 9:39Speaker 1: reading the chart, there's like this deepening of my knowing
- 9:42Speaker 1: nous of myself. And I've started to find that really,
- 9:46Speaker 1: so much of the magic in the astrology and so
- 9:49Speaker 1: much of the magic and readings it's really based on
- 9:52Speaker 1: the depth of the person translating for you. You know,
- 9:57Speaker 1: based on on not just the skill set, but the
- 10:00Speaker 1: life experience, the amount of surrender, the amount of self
- 10:03Speaker 1: processing that the person who translates for you gives you.
- 10:07Speaker 1: What is that? Yeah, No, that's absolutely true, I think
- 10:11Speaker 1: in my experience as well. And um, when I came
- 10:16Speaker 1: into astrology, one of the first books that I read
- 10:20Speaker 1: was by an author named Dane Rudyard, and he was
- 10:23Speaker 1: talking in that book about the importance of astrologers to
- 10:26Speaker 1: be able to interpret for their unique contexts. And you know,
- 10:31Speaker 1: astrology is um it's a creative, uh practice and an
- 10:37Speaker 1: intuitive practice of interpreting astronomical data. Right. So astrologers use
- 10:43Speaker 1: the work of astronomers where a planet is or a
- 10:47Speaker 1: particular configuration between planets to tell stories like we take
- 10:52Speaker 1: these symbolism um of these planetary energies, the stories that
- 10:57Speaker 1: we've learned about them um and in each astrologer is
- 11:01Speaker 1: going to do their own work around synthesizing those stories
- 11:06Speaker 1: and intuiting the meaning that's the most relevant for the
- 11:09Speaker 1: person that they're speaking to or the time that they're
- 11:11Speaker 1: speaking to. So, you know, the astrologer that you work with, like,
- 11:17Speaker 1: it's good if you have a resonance with them, you know,
- 11:20Speaker 1: like if you feel like that astrologer can interpret symbols
- 11:25Speaker 1: that are meaningful for you. And that might have to
- 11:29Speaker 1: do with an astrologer's positional identity, with the work that
- 11:33Speaker 1: they've done on themselves, with the amount of learning that
- 11:36Speaker 1: they've done about the symbolism and astrology, because just like
- 11:41Speaker 1: anything else, um, astro you know, can be really formulaic.
- 11:46Speaker 1: There have been a lot of books that have been written,
- 11:48Speaker 1: and a lot of the dominant information that's available have
- 11:51Speaker 1: been written. You know, it's been written by white men,
- 11:54Speaker 1: mostly by white European you know men, and as a
- 11:58Speaker 1: language as it's like everything right, right, Yeah, So I
- 12:03Speaker 1: think A lot of the exciting work for me and
- 12:05Speaker 1: astrology right now is tuning in with um queer astrologers,
- 12:10Speaker 1: with female astrologers, with astrologers of color, with folks who
- 12:15Speaker 1: are combining and synthesizing different practices as well as different
- 12:21Speaker 1: awarenesses awareness of astrology, because astrology is that it's existed
- 12:27Speaker 1: all around the world and every culture. Like you said,
- 12:30Speaker 1: it's such an ancient practice, and for someone like me
- 12:35Speaker 1: who has been trained in Western astrology, it's so informative
- 12:40Speaker 1: and helpful for me to learn about different ways of
- 12:43Speaker 1: interpreting these symbols that contrast with the Greek or the Roman,
- 12:48Speaker 1: you know, or the European empirical kind of synthesis of
- 12:54Speaker 1: these symbols, Like that gives something to me. And when
- 12:57Speaker 1: I can critique those symbols as well and find my
- 13:00Speaker 1: own meaning and them, it helps me speak to the
- 13:03Speaker 1: clients that I resonate with, you know, that might not
- 13:06Speaker 1: be totally dropping in with those um those other meanings. Wow. Wow,
- 13:11Speaker 1: I was on Instagram. I mean, of course, right, I'm alive.
- 13:15Speaker 1: I was on Instagram and there was this one of
- 13:18Speaker 1: the pages that I follow had this post that I
- 13:21Speaker 1: just it really made me smile. And it was around
- 13:23Speaker 1: Christmas time and it was a it was like an
- 13:26Speaker 1: image of um, you know, Jesus and the Manger and
- 13:30Speaker 1: Mary and the wise men, and it said that the
- 13:33Speaker 1: wise men were actually astrologers, and I thought, oh my god,
- 13:39Speaker 1: I could actually yeah, that makes sense to me, you know,
- 13:43Speaker 1: following following the beautiful star that Jesus was born under,
- 13:47Speaker 1: coming with the gifts like frankincence, mere gold, you know,
- 13:51Speaker 1: really alcomizing and transforming with those energies, and it was
- 13:55Speaker 1: just so beautiful because those are pieces, you know, this
- 13:58Speaker 1: the work of astrology. And I think so many people
- 14:01Speaker 1: think of astrology just as like maybe the things on
- 14:05Speaker 1: the back of a magazine, right Jim and I this
- 14:07Speaker 1: month's going to be hot and spicy, or this month that,
- 14:10Speaker 1: you know, But it's really such a deeply sacred work.
- 14:14Speaker 1: And when I think about the effect that me having
- 14:18Speaker 1: my birth chart done over the years, uh, the way
- 14:21Speaker 1: that it really built my spiritual confidence is what I
- 14:25Speaker 1: really walked away with. You know. I think the first
- 14:27Speaker 1: time I got my chart done, it was like, oh,
- 14:29Speaker 1: this is cool, Like, oh this is fun. I like
- 14:32Speaker 1: doing you know, different stuff. And then the more I
- 14:35Speaker 1: would do it, and the more I would kind of
- 14:37Speaker 1: um really use it as as a guide post, you know,
- 14:41Speaker 1: just saying like, oh, yeah, so this is a theme
- 14:44Speaker 1: of my life, then that makes sense that I've seen
- 14:46Speaker 1: this pattern come up. It really just fortifies your understanding
- 14:52Speaker 1: of yourself and it really enriches your confidence in how
- 14:56Speaker 1: to observe being on the right path and how to
- 14:58Speaker 1: really see when you're an alignment also how to remove
- 15:01Speaker 1: judgment right because sometimes depending on how deep you go
- 15:05Speaker 1: with UM, with your birth chart system, whether it's you know,
- 15:08Speaker 1: Vedic or Yodish or Western. You know, there's so many
- 15:12Speaker 1: different little ways that I think people are connecting to
- 15:15Speaker 1: this UM. You look at it and it allows you
- 15:18Speaker 1: to also come into a space of forgiveness and acceptance
- 15:21Speaker 1: of yourself. You know, so many of the things that
- 15:23Speaker 1: we think, why am I like this? Why do I
- 15:26Speaker 1: do that? But being able to see it kind of
- 15:29Speaker 1: zoomed out and say, Okay, I was given these particular
- 15:33Speaker 1: systems of being in these particular kind of experiences or
- 15:37Speaker 1: personality traits because this is how I was supposed to
- 15:40Speaker 1: show up on Earth, and it serves me and it's
- 15:42Speaker 1: for something that is so much greater than whatever this
- 15:46Speaker 1: moment is um. Yeah. So it's such a it's so sacred,
- 15:49Speaker 1: it's so beautiful, and it can be you know, I think, um,
- 15:53Speaker 1: I think there's people that absolutely use it for like
- 15:56Speaker 1: the fun value or sometimes like the entertainment of love
- 15:58Speaker 1: is coming or this is kind, but to really sit
- 16:02Speaker 1: with the work and really sit with it with a reverence.
- 16:06Speaker 1: It's it's such a phenomenal tool for knowing yourself. Yeah, yeah, absolutely,
- 16:12Speaker 1: that's That's such a beautiful way to describe it. I
- 16:15Speaker 1: feel like a really good session for me, like when
- 16:18Speaker 1: I'm feeling most aligned with my work. Um, it's when
- 16:22Speaker 1: I can be reflective, you know, mirror for a client
- 16:27Speaker 1: in allowing them to see themselves as they are but
- 16:31Speaker 1: maybe in a different way, or helping to validate their
- 16:34Speaker 1: intuition and you know, affirm their being this because I
- 16:39Speaker 1: think you know, astrology is um Again, it's it's a
- 16:43Speaker 1: creative interpretation of data. But the data that we're using
- 16:47Speaker 1: is universal data, right, and like the universe is constantly
- 16:51Speaker 1: unfolding in all kinds of beautiful and mysterious and frightening
- 16:56Speaker 1: and bizarre and idiosyncratic manifestation, and we're part of that.
- 17:02Speaker 1: You know, every single person is going to have their
- 17:05Speaker 1: skills and talents and beauty, and they're also going to
- 17:08Speaker 1: have the places where they feel wretched and pathological and
- 17:12Speaker 1: it can't seem to get it right. And those those
- 17:15Speaker 1: wounds are sacred, you know, when we can hold them
- 17:18Speaker 1: with reverence, like you're saying, like, um, when we can
- 17:22Speaker 1: accept ourselves and then not fight with ourselves so much,
- 17:26Speaker 1: it's like, then we can really get into the truth
- 17:29Speaker 1: of our beings and the gifts that we've come in with. Yeah.
- 17:32Speaker 1: So for anybody listening that is not fully in understanding
- 17:36Speaker 1: of what this system of astrology is, can you please explain,
- 17:40Speaker 1: like the mechanics behind it? How what is this information?
- 17:44Speaker 1: Why is it necessary to have like your birth time
- 17:46Speaker 1: and your birth date? What does that mean? Yeah? Yeah, so, um,
- 17:51Speaker 1: the system of astrology that I practice is called tropical astrology,
- 17:56Speaker 1: and the tropical astrology chart looks like a circle and
- 18:00Speaker 1: that's a graphic representation of the sky at the time
- 18:03Speaker 1: and place that that the event is. So maybe a
- 18:06Speaker 1: person's birth the moment that they come into the world
- 18:09Speaker 1: and take their first breath, And in this map we'll see, uh,
- 18:14Speaker 1: the kind of locational position of the earth in relationship
- 18:18Speaker 1: to the planets, and the planets then are in relationship
- 18:24Speaker 1: to each other. So there's geometric arrangements right between all
- 18:29Speaker 1: of these planetary objects, including the Earth. And how I
- 18:35Speaker 1: think of this is um. You know, we're we're embodied beings,
- 18:41Speaker 1: you know, we we live in a phenomenal world where
- 18:43Speaker 1: gravity is one of our main rules, and the gravitational
- 18:47Speaker 1: force and the magnetic force have a lot to do
- 18:50Speaker 1: with how we experience our lives. And so the relationship
- 18:54Speaker 1: that's presented within the planetary constellation is going to affect
- 18:58Speaker 1: some kind of resonance or vibration, and that vibration gets
- 19:03Speaker 1: layered in at this first moment of arriving in our
- 19:07Speaker 1: separate identities and our separate forms as a being that's
- 19:10Speaker 1: no longer contained within another's body. And so the map
- 19:16Speaker 1: that we get UM is a map describing qualities of
- 19:21Speaker 1: light and harmonics and relationship. The time that someone is
- 19:26Speaker 1: born is telling an astrologer what the light of that
- 19:31Speaker 1: time of day is. So if you're born as the
- 19:34Speaker 1: sun is rising, there's a particular kind of light that
- 19:38Speaker 1: might be different, you know, that is different than if
- 19:40Speaker 1: the sun is at high noon right directly above in
- 19:43Speaker 1: the sky. Um. The time of year that you're born.
- 19:47Speaker 1: What most people you know think of when they think
- 19:49Speaker 1: of astrology, Like what side am i? Um? The time
- 19:52Speaker 1: of year has so much to do with how we
- 19:54Speaker 1: experience our lives. Like up here, I'm in the northern
- 19:57Speaker 1: hemisphere in the Pacific Northwest, it's when her it's like
- 20:00Speaker 1: gray and dark all the time. I feel really different
- 20:03Speaker 1: than I feel in the middle of July. And what's
- 20:06Speaker 1: happening around me in terms of people's attitudes um. The
- 20:11Speaker 1: quote unquote like traditions or behaviors that might be really
- 20:14Speaker 1: common at this time of year are changing, the food
- 20:17Speaker 1: that people are eating, the smells that are in the air,
- 20:20Speaker 1: the pollen, etcetera. Like it's very time specific. Um. So
- 20:27Speaker 1: then you know, with the moon sign, like we can
- 20:30Speaker 1: think about the relationship between the Earth, Sun and moon,
- 20:33Speaker 1: the way that the moon um has such a significant
- 20:38Speaker 1: effect upon the waters of Earth. And we are living
- 20:42Speaker 1: on Earth, you know, we are part of Earth. Our
- 20:44Speaker 1: bodies are made of earth. So it's it's with this
- 20:47Speaker 1: reverence that we position ourselves as you know earthlings, right,
- 20:52Speaker 1: like very much affected by light and time and the
- 20:57Speaker 1: qualities of the light and the time that we are
- 20:59Speaker 1: arise in UM. So that's how I would would think about,
- 21:04Speaker 1: you know, what an astrologer is reading. But every planet, um,
- 21:11Speaker 1: you know, the planets are kind of like amazing symbol
- 21:17Speaker 1: to think of because for a lot of of the ancients,
- 21:22Speaker 1: our ancestors, and even now I think there's this this
- 21:26Speaker 1: awe of them, right, like I mean think about well,
- 21:30Speaker 1: it's not a not a planet, but the Sun, right,
- 21:32Speaker 1: our main luminary. Like we need this, we need this
- 21:36Speaker 1: energy to live and without it, we were not going
- 21:40Speaker 1: to be here, you know. Or Um. A couple of
- 21:42Speaker 1: weeks ago, there was a conjunction between Jupiter and Saturn,
- 21:46Speaker 1: which is significant, and it's these two really bright lights
- 21:49Speaker 1: coming together in the sky. It was visible to the
- 21:52Speaker 1: naked eye. So humans throughout the ages, you know, we
- 21:56Speaker 1: look to the sky. We look to our environment to
- 21:58Speaker 1: understand ourselves, and we can attribute qualities to that which
- 22:04Speaker 1: is outside of ourselves, right Like we like to tell stories,
- 22:07Speaker 1: we want to personify UM. And astrology is an oral tradition,
- 22:13Speaker 1: you know, as well as an oracular tradition. UM. It's
- 22:17Speaker 1: passed through UH stories and so every planetary figure has
- 22:24Speaker 1: a set of stories that it is associated with. And
- 22:28Speaker 1: so when I look at an astrology chart, sometimes I
- 22:32Speaker 1: feel like I'm looking at UM, you know, a huge novel,
- 22:37Speaker 1: like somebody's life is just there, and there's so many
- 22:40Speaker 1: different stories that are pouring out of it. So then
- 22:43Speaker 1: my job is to kind of tune into which story
- 22:46Speaker 1: feels the most relevant right now, Like what would UM
- 22:49Speaker 1: be the most interesting and helpful for my client to explore? So, Renee,
- 22:55Speaker 1: tell me how did you begin in astrology and what
- 22:58Speaker 1: has drawn you to continue this work and to really
- 23:02Speaker 1: grow it so beautifully? Well, I began UM not by
- 23:05Speaker 1: choice at all, but by circumstance. My mom was an astrologer,
- 23:09Speaker 1: and she had started studying astrology when she was in
- 23:12Speaker 1: her early twenties, and when I was born, she was
- 23:15Speaker 1: really interested in it UM, and so she took me
- 23:19Speaker 1: to get a reading when I was probably about six
- 23:22Speaker 1: months old, and continued to get me astrology readings throughout
- 23:25Speaker 1: my life, and she worked with it she was She
- 23:31Speaker 1: ended up becoming a therapist when I was a teenager,
- 23:34Speaker 1: and so she combined astrology with her counseling work. Wow. Yeah,
- 23:40Speaker 1: and so she would often I mean, I think a
- 23:42Speaker 1: lot of children of therapists have this experience of being
- 23:45Speaker 1: you know, explained by their parents or something. UM. But
- 23:50Speaker 1: my mom would often explain me to myself with astrology.
- 23:53Speaker 1: And so I'd be going through something and she'd be like, Oh,
- 23:56Speaker 1: that's because of your Mars or your moon or something
- 23:59Speaker 1: like that. And because astrology, at least the way that
- 24:04Speaker 1: I've learned it and experienced it through her influence is
- 24:07Speaker 1: not very judgmental. UM. It was actually really helpful for me,
- 24:11Speaker 1: Like it gave me a lot of insight into myself
- 24:15Speaker 1: and UM and into other people. You know, we would
- 24:19Speaker 1: play with other people's charts. And when I was in
- 24:22Speaker 1: my early twenties, I was in a confusing relationship, you know,
- 24:26Speaker 1: as many people are at age, and I picked up
- 24:30Speaker 1: a book on relationship astrology and immediately started to have
- 24:36Speaker 1: more insight into um, the dynamics that we're at play
- 24:40Speaker 1: between me and the person that I was seeing. And
- 24:43Speaker 1: then I just got obsessed, and I've been obsessed ever since. UM.
- 24:47Speaker 1: I just think it's so helpful as a language and
- 24:51Speaker 1: as a tool, and I continue to be amazed m
- 24:56Speaker 1: at its accuracy. UM. And so at this point in
- 25:00Speaker 1: my life, I feel that it's a contribution that I
- 25:06Speaker 1: can make in the world, um, towards the kind of
- 25:10Speaker 1: world that I want to live in, which is a
- 25:12Speaker 1: world that you know. It's like, people are so different,
- 25:16Speaker 1: and if we can find ways to be here together,
- 25:21Speaker 1: supporting one another in our differences and living into our
- 25:25Speaker 1: creative potential, I think humanity has a great chance at
- 25:30Speaker 1: healing a lot of the trauma that's here, you know,
- 25:33Speaker 1: taking care of our environment and really living joyfully and
- 25:38Speaker 1: living with our highest potential. And um, I just experienced
- 25:41Speaker 1: over and over again that astrology is helpful towards those aims.
- 25:45Speaker 1: So that's why I've stuck with it and continue to
- 25:47Speaker 1: be enthusiastic about it. I love that so much. And
- 25:52Speaker 1: I'm really hearing about your mom um and your upbringing
- 25:55Speaker 1: with such a great reflection for me because I am
- 25:58Speaker 1: the same. My son is two and a half. Well
- 26:02Speaker 1: not the same I uh as in my childhood, but
- 26:05Speaker 1: my son, um, he's two and a half. But since
- 26:07Speaker 1: he was born, right when he was born, I got
- 26:10Speaker 1: his birth chart done and I've had it done again
- 26:12Speaker 1: by someone else, and I've really you know, I'm a
- 26:16Speaker 1: big believer in a lot of like sefology work, and
- 26:20Speaker 1: so I've already started building a book for him that
- 26:24Speaker 1: has like those deeper understandings about his life plan and
- 26:28Speaker 1: and you know, what his what his attributes are, what
- 26:32Speaker 1: maybe some things that will be challenges are. And you know,
- 26:35Speaker 1: it's like I felt really grateful and proud to be
- 26:39Speaker 1: able to do that, um for him and myself, because
- 26:42Speaker 1: it's also giving me tools to show up for him
- 26:46Speaker 1: based on his needs and based on his life plan
- 26:50Speaker 1: and based on his personality traits as opposed to me
- 26:53Speaker 1: as a parent, you know, perhaps imposing my will or
- 26:57Speaker 1: um my lens of perspective, perspective based on my own life,
- 27:01Speaker 1: you know. Um, but I do astrology with my son.
- 27:04Speaker 1: I do Ricky on my son. We meditate, and I'm
- 27:08Speaker 1: so excited to see who he'll become and what kind
- 27:12Speaker 1: of lens he'll view himself in the world through God.
- 27:17Speaker 1: That's so beautiful. I'm so excited to hear you speak
- 27:19Speaker 1: to that. I feel really hopeful when I encounter parents
- 27:26Speaker 1: and partners and family members, you know, anyone who's reaching
- 27:29Speaker 1: towards these tools to help each other, you know, And
- 27:33Speaker 1: what you were saying like they're giving you tools to
- 27:36Speaker 1: to be a supportive parent and ally for him and
- 27:40Speaker 1: to not impose your ideas upon him. And in my experience, um,
- 27:45Speaker 1: you know, with with my mom, one of the most
- 27:48Speaker 1: profound um events that happened because of astrology is that
- 27:53Speaker 1: I wanted to leave school when I was thirteen. I
- 27:57Speaker 1: was really depressed and I hated being there. And my
- 28:01Speaker 1: mom um didn't understand what I was going through. She
- 28:04Speaker 1: had been a person who had really liked school, but
- 28:06Speaker 1: she had my astrology chart and she knew that it
- 28:11Speaker 1: wasn't a good place for me, and so she trusted
- 28:14Speaker 1: me to leave. And also because of of seeing my chart, like,
- 28:20Speaker 1: she worked with me to help me set up kind
- 28:23Speaker 1: of more of a self directed education, which was so courageous.
- 28:28Speaker 1: You know, all of her friends were telling her it
- 28:30Speaker 1: was a bad idea. All of her family was telling
- 28:32Speaker 1: her that. And for me, I you know, I was
- 28:37Speaker 1: literally suicidal before I left school, and within two years
- 28:41Speaker 1: I was doing great. Um. And so I just I'm
- 28:45Speaker 1: like just so deeply grateful to her for for trusting
- 28:50Speaker 1: what was coming through in astrology and following it. And yeah,
- 28:53Speaker 1: I think that UM, trying to support one another, you know,
- 28:59Speaker 1: on in our lives, like with all the differences between
- 29:02Speaker 1: people and not being able to put ourselves entirely into
- 29:06Speaker 1: another's experience. Anything that can help us, you know, meet
- 29:10Speaker 1: each other where we are is just something to celebrate. Yeah,
- 29:16Speaker 1: so beautifully said, something to celebrate, especially these days. Hold
- 29:23Speaker 1: that thought we are coming right back we had. We've
- 29:37Speaker 1: just come out of a hell of a year, right,
- 29:39Speaker 1: we just got out of um. You know, the words
- 29:44Speaker 1: used to describe this year we've heard over and over,
- 29:46Speaker 1: but they are so fitting unprecedented times, right. Um. It
- 29:52Speaker 1: has been a year of profound challenge, but profound awakening
- 29:57Speaker 1: as well. And I'm you know, I'm kind of no
- 30:00Speaker 1: of seeing this very distinct line in the stand that's
- 30:05Speaker 1: kind of being drawn, um, from my perspective energetically, where
- 30:09Speaker 1: there really is becoming a separation between being stuck and
- 30:13Speaker 1: allowing yourself to be awake. And it feels like to
- 30:16Speaker 1: me that this like convergence. It's it's kind of going
- 30:19Speaker 1: to be two worlds here on Earth in a way
- 30:22Speaker 1: that we haven't experienced yet, where one side is really
- 30:27Speaker 1: going to be on this fast tracked ascension, um, and
- 30:31Speaker 1: the other side maybe we'll continue to kind of um
- 30:35Speaker 1: stay where they are. I would love to hear what
- 30:39Speaker 1: we're some you know, if we're looking through through the
- 30:44Speaker 1: lens of astrology and understanding it through that depth. What
- 30:48Speaker 1: are some of the moments that stood out for the
- 30:51Speaker 1: year And have any other moments in history been comparable
- 30:55Speaker 1: to some of the things that we saw energetically this year? Wow? Yeah,
- 30:59Speaker 1: what a great question. Well began with a really significant
- 31:04Speaker 1: aspect um that perfected on January twelve. And that aspect
- 31:09Speaker 1: is a one s every thirty six year event, which
- 31:13Speaker 1: is the meeting of the planet's Saturn and Pluto um.
- 31:17Speaker 1: So this is a like I said, it's an event
- 31:20Speaker 1: that occurs every thirty six years or so. But they
- 31:24Speaker 1: met in the signed Capricorn, and the two planets hadn't
- 31:29Speaker 1: come together in Capricorn since eighteen was the last time
- 31:34Speaker 1: that uh that they could formed a conjunction in Capricorn,
- 31:39Speaker 1: and that was the year that basically the Transatlantic slave
- 31:44Speaker 1: trade began. It was the year that King Charles of
- 31:47Speaker 1: Spain authorized the first forced transport of enslaved people from
- 31:53Speaker 1: from Africa to the America's and then um. The next
- 32:00Speaker 1: time the planet Pluto was in Capricorn, UH was in
- 32:04Speaker 1: the seventeen hundreds when the Declaration of Independence was drafted
- 32:07Speaker 1: and signed and the kind of birth of the United States,
- 32:11Speaker 1: Um happened. And so in astrology there are these cycles,
- 32:17Speaker 1: like these cycles of time. Right, all of the planets
- 32:19Speaker 1: orbit around the Sun in a cyclical rhythm, and astrologers
- 32:25Speaker 1: are storytellers and historians, and so we are looking back
- 32:28Speaker 1: all the time and going, Okay, well, what's the cycle
- 32:32Speaker 1: that we're in right now? And when a cycle completes, UM,
- 32:37Speaker 1: we're thinking about what is the resonance of this cycle
- 32:42Speaker 1: that is completing, and how is it giving birth to
- 32:45Speaker 1: this new cycle that's beginning. So in the cycle that
- 32:51Speaker 1: completed was a cycle that began in fifteen eighteen and
- 32:55Speaker 1: that had resonance to uh, I forget the year that
- 32:59Speaker 1: Um declar of Independence was written, seventeen sixty something, right,
- 33:04Speaker 1: thank you, thanks for that, UM. So it's not at
- 33:10Speaker 1: all surprising, you know that a kind of mass consciousness,
- 33:16Speaker 1: like it's not like, you know, people hadn't been saying
- 33:20Speaker 1: this or chanting this for generations already, But it was
- 33:25Speaker 1: like a mass consciousness suddenly clicked into what the history is,
- 33:31Speaker 1: you know, to some level, and started to acknowledge it together,
- 33:35Speaker 1: and that gave momentum um to start this new cycle.
- 33:41Speaker 1: And the new cycle then is arising from the past,
- 33:46Speaker 1: but it also is going to have its own momentum,
- 33:49Speaker 1: its own kind of flavor UM. And one of the
- 33:52Speaker 1: significant things about the conjunction in is that Jupiter was
- 33:58Speaker 1: also in Capricorn and so there was a kind of
- 34:00Speaker 1: triple conjunction throughout the year. And as a planetary energy UM,
- 34:04Speaker 1: Jupiter provides opportunity and growth and the possibility of expansion
- 34:10Speaker 1: and wisdom and learning. And so I think a lot
- 34:14Speaker 1: of UM what what came through in like you said,
- 34:18Speaker 1: you know, unprecedented. Other words I've heard are reckoning, um.
- 34:24Speaker 1: You know this this need to be accountable to what
- 34:27Speaker 1: has happened and to learn from it and then to
- 34:31Speaker 1: grow into something new, to transform what has happened into
- 34:35Speaker 1: something new UM. So within I would say that the
- 34:42Speaker 1: main influence was this conjunction between Saturn and Pluto, with
- 34:47Speaker 1: Jupiter's influence as well. And there you know, there are
- 34:52Speaker 1: several influences throughout the year that I think we're um notable.
- 34:57Speaker 1: But one of the other ones that a lot of
- 34:59Speaker 1: astrology years were following and talking about was the way
- 35:03Speaker 1: that Mars retrograde cycle aspected with these influences in capricorn
- 35:12Speaker 1: Um and Mars was retrograde Forum basically from July through
- 35:17Speaker 1: the end of the year and so spicy. Yeah, Mars
- 35:22Speaker 1: is the planetary ruler of Aries Um. Both of their
- 35:25Speaker 1: energies are uh. They can be warlike and combative, they
- 35:30Speaker 1: can be really aggressive. They represent UM, not men per se,
- 35:35Speaker 1: but masculinity and so like this kind of young energy
- 35:40Speaker 1: the um a lot of things that we may associate with,
- 35:44Speaker 1: like with a kind of masculinity, so UM like a
- 35:48Speaker 1: bravado or a machismo or a showy nous or UM
- 35:52Speaker 1: assertiveness or things like that. And Mars was retrograde UM
- 35:58Speaker 1: September and October, and it was forming really hard aspects
- 36:04Speaker 1: with the capricorn placements UM all through July, June, July,
- 36:10Speaker 1: August UM and then into the rest of the year.
- 36:15Speaker 1: And when Mars formed its squares to Pluto UM, what
- 36:20Speaker 1: we had is UH confrontational aspect. This is a square
- 36:25Speaker 1: an argumentative, conflicting aspect between one energy Mars and aries
- 36:31Speaker 1: that is UM pushing for some kind of movement like uh,
- 36:40Speaker 1: it's an unapologetic UH push for action. Arias is really
- 36:45Speaker 1: action oriented. There can be a lot of individualism within
- 36:50Speaker 1: Mars and areas as an energy, and also there's a
- 36:56Speaker 1: kind of nod to the power of a person with
- 37:01Speaker 1: with Aries as an energy and with Mars as an energy,
- 37:04Speaker 1: and they are confronting Pluto and Capricorn, which we might
- 37:07Speaker 1: see as an energetic that describes UM a government or
- 37:15Speaker 1: dominant power. This is Capricorn and Pluto UM. Some kind
- 37:20Speaker 1: of transformative process would be one way to think of
- 37:22Speaker 1: the symbol, but we can also think of the misuse
- 37:26Speaker 1: of power and a kind of tyranny that can come
- 37:29Speaker 1: through with Pluto's energetic. So looking back at last year
- 37:34Speaker 1: and UM, you know, the uprisings and this incredible UM
- 37:40Speaker 1: kind of energy of change that came through in UM,
- 37:44Speaker 1: it's really amazing to look at the correspondence between UH
- 37:49Speaker 1: Mars square Pluto UM and kind of how those aspects
- 37:56Speaker 1: showed up in the charts that that I looked at
- 38:00Speaker 1: some of the charts UM of last year's like really
- 38:04Speaker 1: notable moments, you know. So on the chart for UM
- 38:09Speaker 1: the uprising in Minneapolis following George Floyd's murder, UM, there
- 38:13Speaker 1: was such incredible tension between Mars and Pluto UM and
- 38:20Speaker 1: numerous other aspects that you know, probably aren't this isn't
- 38:23Speaker 1: a time to get into explaining all of them, but
- 38:27Speaker 1: a symbol basically of individuals being fed up, you know,
- 38:33Speaker 1: and and the force of conviction that gained enough momentum
- 38:41Speaker 1: to become cohesive enough to challenge a dominant power and
- 38:45Speaker 1: to break something m hm, or break through something. It's
- 38:51Speaker 1: so interesting. You know. Something that I've spoken to quite
- 38:54Speaker 1: a bit on this show and just a reflection I've
- 38:56Speaker 1: been having in myself is, without even knowing the the
- 39:00Speaker 1: astrological background on this, is how really in the last
- 39:04Speaker 1: three to five years, our collective consciousness has risen probably
- 39:09Speaker 1: more than it's risen in the last several hundred years.
- 39:12Speaker 1: You know, like these these conversations, these themes of the
- 39:17Speaker 1: way we experience ourselves in society have been rising to
- 39:21Speaker 1: the top at this accelerated pace, you know, and it's
- 39:24Speaker 1: like it's incredible, um, but it's a lot, and I
- 39:28Speaker 1: think we haven't really taken full stock of how weighty
- 39:32Speaker 1: that is, you know, to be fully embedded and exploring, uh,
- 39:38Speaker 1: the racial dynamic in America this powerfully for the first time, um,
- 39:44Speaker 1: really opening up conversations about women and sexuality and you know,
- 39:51Speaker 1: the oppression of women and sexual assault, and you know
- 39:54Speaker 1: the way in which toxic masculinity has guided us societally
- 39:59Speaker 1: since it's in option, and you know, it's like we
- 40:01Speaker 1: are gender equality, you know, UM, all the different ways
- 40:06Speaker 1: that that we can come to this earth. You know,
- 40:09Speaker 1: we have not unpacked all of these things ever, let
- 40:13Speaker 1: alone all at once, you know. And so it's it's
- 40:18Speaker 1: in terms of our collective consciousness, it's a it's a
- 40:21Speaker 1: gorgeous elevation we're having, but it is also probably the
- 40:24Speaker 1: biggest challenge for all of us to really receive and
- 40:28Speaker 1: interpret and sit with how heavy these themes are. Yeah, absolutely,
- 40:35Speaker 1: I definitely agree. And I think UM. I think in
- 40:40Speaker 1: terms of astrological symbolism, UM really speaks to that tell
- 40:45Speaker 1: me your name, give us the UM. Well, so in
- 40:52Speaker 1: I was already kind of talking about the presence of
- 40:55Speaker 1: Saturn and Jupiter and Capricorn, and Capricorn is a sign
- 40:59Speaker 1: that UM is associated with what has been built over
- 41:04Speaker 1: time through the dominant power. So the structures that have
- 41:08Speaker 1: been erected UM historically because of who had access to
- 41:12Speaker 1: erecting them. So we can think about governments for sure,
- 41:16Speaker 1: and and you know, leaders or whatever like these structural
- 41:20Speaker 1: powers UM as well as traditions and conservatism UM towards
- 41:25Speaker 1: that are really associated with Capricorn often and Aquarius is
- 41:29Speaker 1: a sign that comes after Capricorn. And with Aquarius UM
- 41:36Speaker 1: there are two ways I think UM we can describe Aquarius.
- 41:40Speaker 1: And so first of all, Aquarius is an air sign,
- 41:43Speaker 1: and all of the air signs have to do with
- 41:46Speaker 1: UH thought and UM concept and the mental plane, the
- 41:51Speaker 1: informational plane, and coming after Capricorn, Aquarius can be a
- 41:56Speaker 1: symbol of UM, the like mental fixed nous that is
- 42:05Speaker 1: produced through tradition or through UM coherence with the dominant structure.
- 42:12Speaker 1: So for example, UM, you know, you could be waiting
- 42:16Speaker 1: to cross the street and the light is red, but
- 42:21Speaker 1: there's no cars coming. You could easily cross the street,
- 42:23Speaker 1: but if you've really been trained to not cross the
- 42:25Speaker 1: street when the light is red, you won't even go
- 42:27Speaker 1: to start to walk right Like that would be an
- 42:30Speaker 1: example of the way that a thought could be really
- 42:33Speaker 1: embodied and then become an attitude or a somatic UM instinct.
- 42:39Speaker 1: And so Aquarius can definitely speak to that, like the
- 42:42Speaker 1: ways that we are complicit with UM with structure UH
- 42:48Speaker 1: without even thinking about it, just because that's what we've
- 42:51Speaker 1: grown in and arisen front. These are conditions UM, but
- 42:56Speaker 1: Aquarius also speaks to the ability to wake up to
- 42:59Speaker 1: condition ng and to break uh, to have some kind
- 43:02Speaker 1: of breakthrough, and then to reach for liberation. And that's
- 43:07Speaker 1: kind of the high vibration of Aquarius is this idea
- 43:10Speaker 1: of freedom, and it's not like freedom to do whatever
- 43:14Speaker 1: you want. It's it's freedom from the conditioning, like freedom
- 43:18Speaker 1: to actually be present in your life and not to
- 43:22Speaker 1: stay in some constant state of repetition or oppression under
- 43:28Speaker 1: uh someone else's thought for right or structural thought. So
- 43:33Speaker 1: on the solstice of December one, Jupiter and Saturn had
- 43:39Speaker 1: both moved into Aquarius the couple of days before, and
- 43:43Speaker 1: they formed a conjunction on that day, and that was
- 43:46Speaker 1: also a very significant astrological event. Jupiter and Saturn only
- 43:51Speaker 1: form their conjunctions once every twenty years, but due to
- 43:55Speaker 1: their um their orbits around the Sun, their con junctions
- 44:01Speaker 1: UH form in signs of the same element for two
- 44:05Speaker 1: hundred years, and they had been meeting in the Earth
- 44:09Speaker 1: signs since the early eighteen hundreds and this year, Jupiter
- 44:15Speaker 1: and Saturn's conjunction in Aquarius UM on December one marks
- 44:20Speaker 1: not just the beginning of a new twenty year cycle,
- 44:23Speaker 1: but the beginning of a new two hundred year cycle
- 44:25Speaker 1: where they will be meeting in the air signs. And
- 44:29Speaker 1: so what this implies with Jupiter and Saturn is a
- 44:32Speaker 1: shifting social sentiment. There is enough consciousness and also enough
- 44:37Speaker 1: motivation for people to really want change within the structures
- 44:42Speaker 1: of society. The first decade or two of this new
- 44:46Speaker 1: two hundred year cycle UM will be marked by this
- 44:50Speaker 1: effort to change, and astrologers call this time between the
- 44:56Speaker 1: changes in element of their meetings. They call it the
- 44:59Speaker 1: great mutation because it's a mutation of a social landscape,
- 45:03Speaker 1: and the mutation is also occurring obviously for each of
- 45:07Speaker 1: us individually and throughout. The most significant astrological aspects will
- 45:14Speaker 1: take place between UH, Saturn and Aquarius and the planet
- 45:18Speaker 1: Urinus in Taurists, and Urinus is associated with Aquarius. It's
- 45:22Speaker 1: the modern planetary ruler of the sign. And what this
- 45:27Speaker 1: aspect speaks to is UH some kind of concentrated effort
- 45:31Speaker 1: to change. And the effort to change is um not easy, right, like,
- 45:37Speaker 1: especially if we're trying to change things that are really
- 45:40Speaker 1: deeply embedded, especially if we're trying to change things that
- 45:44Speaker 1: like you said, I haven't been talked about, like, have
- 45:47Speaker 1: barely been acknowledged, might not even you know, be cognizant
- 45:51Speaker 1: for a lot of folks. So the ability to change
- 45:57Speaker 1: it is you know, uh, it necessitates mental, psychic, physical, relational,
- 46:07Speaker 1: emotional willingness to be uncomfortable right and to like try
- 46:14Speaker 1: to recognize where habit and pattern is keeping us from
- 46:20Speaker 1: having an authentic, liberated experience, are loving experience. So my
- 46:26Speaker 1: feeling is that, um, there there is enough consciousness now
- 46:35Speaker 1: that the hope for change can get grounded. Like like
- 46:40Speaker 1: we're seeing you know, we're feeling like maybe not as apathetic,
- 46:45Speaker 1: you know, as we did in nineteen. Like there's a
- 46:48Speaker 1: feeling of like maybe maybe we can get somewhere. And
- 46:52Speaker 1: there's there's so much assistance when it comes to information
- 46:58Speaker 1: at this time. There is language that we didn't have
- 47:00Speaker 1: ten years ago. There are leaders and teachers who are
- 47:04Speaker 1: modeling by example, UM, ways of being and ways of
- 47:11Speaker 1: policy making or legislating that we could feel hopeful about. Um.
- 47:17Speaker 1: There's a lot of ideas about how we could reshape
- 47:20Speaker 1: society or reform community, and I think that there's enough
- 47:25Speaker 1: people that want that that we can make a sustained
- 47:28Speaker 1: push and a sustained effort. But the challenge of this
- 47:33Speaker 1: of this year especially is to be consistent and dedicated
- 47:39Speaker 1: in our effort. We've got a lot of ideas, there's
- 47:42Speaker 1: a lot of enthusiasm, there's a lot of energy for change,
- 47:46Speaker 1: but it's not going to happen over a night, and
- 47:48Speaker 1: there will be this uh like intensity around the struggle
- 47:52Speaker 1: for it. So we have to stay consistent. And part
- 47:56Speaker 1: of consistency is also sustainability, right, like we we can't
- 48:00Speaker 1: burn ourselves out. And one thing that I'm really loving
- 48:04Speaker 1: about right now is how much um awareness and I
- 48:09Speaker 1: feel like your podcast does this uh so much too,
- 48:13Speaker 1: Like there's this awareness that the revolution is going to
- 48:16Speaker 1: be supported by care, you know, and it's not just
- 48:20Speaker 1: the fight for change. It's also like or it's not
- 48:23Speaker 1: just the fight, you know, like change can also look
- 48:26Speaker 1: like holding each other and um being vulnerable, like allowing
- 48:32Speaker 1: someone to like see you when you don't know what
- 48:34Speaker 1: you're doing and you feel like you just made a mess,
- 48:37Speaker 1: and like giving space to each other to take a
- 48:40Speaker 1: nap and taking care of someone's kids or you know,
- 48:42Speaker 1: things like this, like this is all part of what's
- 48:45Speaker 1: going to carry us through. Wow. Wow, wow for anybody
- 48:49Speaker 1: that was just listening to this and felt I did
- 48:53Speaker 1: feel that spark of hope, but also perhaps felt a
- 48:56Speaker 1: little weighted down because I think you know, the thing
- 48:59Speaker 1: that that everyone made it through was like, oh that
- 49:03Speaker 1: year is over. Uh so now things are going to
- 49:06Speaker 1: be you know, lighter or different. Um, would you say
- 49:11Speaker 1: that the challenges this year we will feel more equipped
- 49:15Speaker 1: for or do you think that this will be another
- 49:18Speaker 1: year of kind of some of that um cocooning or
- 49:21Speaker 1: maybe emotional withdrawal and isolation. You know, I think that
- 49:26Speaker 1: one has a remarkably different energy than in a sense
- 49:30Speaker 1: that had a feeling for me in the astrology. Um,
- 49:35Speaker 1: that definitely I think was a feeling a lot of
- 49:37Speaker 1: people who experienced a really intense restriction and isolation and closure. Um,
- 49:45Speaker 1: it was a death year, and one um is it
- 49:50Speaker 1: is much more of an activating year, Like there's a
- 49:55Speaker 1: lot of energy in it that feels more excitable and
- 50:01Speaker 1: excited than did that said a word like easy or
- 50:07Speaker 1: something like that isn't what I would use to describe
- 50:10Speaker 1: what I feel coming through. And um, you know, the
- 50:14Speaker 1: changing of a calendar year, the Gregorian calendar, it's it's
- 50:18Speaker 1: definitely significant, but it doesn't mean that all that was
- 50:22Speaker 1: unearthed and the problems aren't just here with us in
- 50:26Speaker 1: one like. We we have to continue, um, you know,
- 50:30Speaker 1: with everything that that we've already been doing, and it
- 50:34Speaker 1: will take a different form, you know. I think there's
- 50:38Speaker 1: I really do feel like there's a remarkably different energy
- 50:41Speaker 1: this year. Um. But I don't I don't get the
- 50:45Speaker 1: feeling that it's um like just a relaxed chill walk
- 50:49Speaker 1: in the park or something like that. Yeah. Actually, and
- 50:53Speaker 1: I feel that too. I feel that, you know, was
- 50:57Speaker 1: the year of illumination on a global scale, of all
- 51:01Speaker 1: of the secrets and the darker parts and the crevices
- 51:06Speaker 1: that many of us knew about but also many didn't,
- 51:09Speaker 1: especially globally. And I think it was the year that
- 51:12Speaker 1: we were meant to meet ourselves more deeply. We were
- 51:15Speaker 1: meant to really start figuring out our deeper desires and
- 51:21Speaker 1: our needs and who are we without these titles or
- 51:24Speaker 1: without these roles or friendships or events or you know,
- 51:28Speaker 1: and to cultivate tools. And it feels like it's like, hey,
- 51:32Speaker 1: life is still happening, Earth is still wild, um, but
- 51:38Speaker 1: now you not only have the tools but you know
- 51:41Speaker 1: how to use them. You've practiced using them, so none
- 51:44Speaker 1: of this will be a shock anymore. None of this
- 51:46Speaker 1: will feel as disconnected from self. You know, like we
- 51:50Speaker 1: get to actually walk into the world with confidence of
- 51:55Speaker 1: use of our tools. Mm hmm. Yeah, yeah, I love that.
- 52:01Speaker 1: Still use that, but we feel a little more equipped
- 52:04Speaker 1: to use them. Yeah. Yeah. When you were saying that,
- 52:08Speaker 1: I was thinking about how I think astrology matches with this,
- 52:13Speaker 1: and and definitely the sentiment that I had a lot
- 52:16Speaker 1: was that there was the you know, there was like
- 52:21Speaker 1: a lot there was so much loss and this feeling
- 52:24Speaker 1: of like things can't things aren't going to be the
- 52:27Speaker 1: same anymore, Like the people were saying that all the time.
- 52:29Speaker 1: You know, it's like, oh, things are going to be
- 52:31Speaker 1: the same, and like this really dramatic departure from the
- 52:35Speaker 1: status quo that the pandemic brought, you know, that we
- 52:41Speaker 1: really like are in a profound moment of change. And
- 52:45Speaker 1: what one feels like to me is that we've now
- 52:50Speaker 1: gotten through the malaise, uh and the inertia of that
- 52:55Speaker 1: first phase of change that has to do with unpredictability
- 53:00Speaker 1: and not knowing what's happening and feeling like things are
- 53:02Speaker 1: being taken away and something is ending, and now there's
- 53:06Speaker 1: this sense of Okay, things have changed, they're continuing to change,
- 53:11Speaker 1: so how can I push for the kind of change
- 53:14Speaker 1: that I want? There's like more there's more conviction, there's
- 53:17Speaker 1: more fearlessness, and there's also more of an attitude of like, well,
- 53:23Speaker 1: I gotta give it all i've got, you know, because
- 53:25Speaker 1: this is the chance to do it and there's not
- 53:27Speaker 1: really much else to do other than that. Yeah. Yeah,
- 53:31Speaker 1: it's so true. And you know, I'm a believer in
- 53:34Speaker 1: the opportunity and everything. So I personally feel like and
- 53:37Speaker 1: I think a lot of the listeners of the show
- 53:40Speaker 1: can kind of feel the same way too. It's just like, Okay,
- 53:44Speaker 1: taught me how to surrender fully to uncertainty or for
- 53:49Speaker 1: some glimpse the understanding of uncertainty, um and find some
- 53:54Speaker 1: peace with it. And then this is the year that
- 53:58Speaker 1: you know, I get to now has drived this new
- 54:01Speaker 1: normal with a little more confidence. You know, the work
- 54:03Speaker 1: isn't done, It's never done, but I do think that
- 54:06Speaker 1: there's going to be ease to our process, or at
- 54:09Speaker 1: least some creativity in our process this go around. Yeah, absolutely,
- 54:13Speaker 1: I would definitely agree with that and what you said
- 54:16Speaker 1: about surrender, UM, I think that's you know, when you're
- 54:21Speaker 1: talking about tools, you know, the tools that people have
- 54:24Speaker 1: that maybe they've been able to practice now and can
- 54:27Speaker 1: employ with more ease as we move forward. Surrender feels
- 54:31Speaker 1: like one of those tools to me, you know, of like, Okay,
- 54:35Speaker 1: here we are. We don't know what's next, what's in
- 54:39Speaker 1: the past is now gone, but like here we are
- 54:43Speaker 1: this and make the most out of it. Oh, I
- 54:45Speaker 1: love that, Renee. Before we head out of here, at
- 54:59Speaker 1: the end of every show, we give everyone listening a
- 55:02Speaker 1: little bit of soul work. Do you have some soul
- 55:05Speaker 1: work that our audience can take away with them this week,
- 55:09Speaker 1: something that they maybe they can practice or do or
- 55:12Speaker 1: try or taste or glimpse until our next episode. Yeah,
- 55:16Speaker 1: I do, absolutely. I'm so UM excited for this and
- 55:21Speaker 1: I loved UM learning that you did this in your podcast. UM.
- 55:26Speaker 1: What one thing that I wanted to offer that I've
- 55:28Speaker 1: been working with myself UM on a lot in the
- 55:32Speaker 1: last couple of months is UM. It's a practice for
- 55:37Speaker 1: for circulation of vitality, of love, of awareness, and astrologically
- 55:48Speaker 1: in UM, Like I said, one of the main influences
- 55:52Speaker 1: has to do with Aquarius, with this aquarian energy, and
- 55:57Speaker 1: I studied medical astrology and the astrology of the boy d,
- 56:00Speaker 1: and in that um system, Aquarius rules circulation and the
- 56:07Speaker 1: circulation of of our blood and of oxygen as well
- 56:11Speaker 1: as life force UM the nervous system, consciousness from our
- 56:17Speaker 1: spine and our central body and our heart out into
- 56:20Speaker 1: all of our tissues, into the periphery of our body,
- 56:23Speaker 1: and into the energy that we exude in the world. UM.
- 56:28Speaker 1: So the homework that I would offer the practice UM
- 56:33Speaker 1: would be a pretty simple embodiment invitation, which is to
- 56:40Speaker 1: imagine and try and bring awareness into your literal heart,
- 56:47Speaker 1: into the organ of your heart. And I find that
- 56:51Speaker 1: touch can really help me, and so to feel your heart,
- 56:55Speaker 1: it can be helpful to gently tap with your fingertips
- 56:59Speaker 1: over your stern um and your chest, or it can
- 57:02Speaker 1: be helpful to place your palms over your chest or
- 57:05Speaker 1: around the sides of your upper ribs um. Your heart
- 57:09Speaker 1: is held between your two lungs um and it's also
- 57:15Speaker 1: supported underneath by your diaphragm, and it's directly in front
- 57:19Speaker 1: of your spine. So any any assistance that can give
- 57:24Speaker 1: to think about the location of your heart, to feel
- 57:27Speaker 1: your breath, to feel your spine, um, to touch your body,
- 57:32Speaker 1: and to come into some kind of imagination would be
- 57:36Speaker 1: one way or a couple of ways to UH start
- 57:40Speaker 1: to feel your heart. And then the meditation is to
- 57:44Speaker 1: really UM arrive with presence in your heart and to
- 57:50Speaker 1: invite your heart's energy to start to expand and your
- 57:56Speaker 1: heart's energy on a physiological level, UM is your life energy.
- 58:02Speaker 1: You know. It is your heartbeat, your pulse. Your heart
- 58:06Speaker 1: moves oxygen um which all of yourselves need into your
- 58:11Speaker 1: entire body. And so you can think about this with
- 58:16Speaker 1: your breath like as you inhale UM, you might breathe
- 58:21Speaker 1: directly in to your heart and really feel its strength,
- 58:24Speaker 1: and as you exhale, you could imagine the energy of
- 58:28Speaker 1: your heart UM emanating and traveling all the way out
- 58:34Speaker 1: into every single part of your body. If it feels
- 58:38Speaker 1: more intuitive to feel your heart expanding as you breathe
- 58:40Speaker 1: in and then strengthening as you exhale, either way is fine,
- 58:47Speaker 1: and that would be the invitation is to spend time
- 58:52Speaker 1: every day for just a couple of minutes or longer
- 58:56Speaker 1: if you have it, UM and really tune into your
- 59:00Speaker 1: heart and feel your heart, ask your heart to talk
- 59:07Speaker 1: to you, you know, like there's so much wisdom in
- 59:10Speaker 1: our hearts um in in their actual organs, but also
- 59:15Speaker 1: in the energy that surrounds them and the ways that
- 59:19Speaker 1: we feel love and care and connection um in our
- 59:22Speaker 1: chest centers. So anything that resonates for heart energy to
- 59:28Speaker 1: tune in, to breathe, to listen, and then to invite
- 59:32Speaker 1: it to expand into your whole body and maybe even
- 59:37Speaker 1: out into the space around you. Mm hmm. That felts
- 59:43Speaker 1: so good. I was I was following your directions as
- 59:46Speaker 1: you were talking. I'm so blessed out, Renee. I am
- 59:52Speaker 1: so grateful um for who you are in the world,
