- 0:00How do we want to start this? Should we start
- 0:02with a disclaimer? Because we're talking about
- 0:05Bigfoot, which is, I know for a lot of people,
- 0:09a very serious topic. Hardcore Bigfoot people
- 0:14out there. Yeah, and I don't think this is going
- 0:17to be a serious episode, is it? It'll be as serious
- 0:21as any of our other episodes. We'll make it as
- 0:23serious as we want to make it. Yeah, like there
- 0:26could be some serious parts in it. There could
- 0:28also be a lot of unserious joking bits. There
- 0:33could also just be a lot of bits in here. Yeah,
- 0:37see, I misread, because Bree, you want to talk
- 0:40about Bigfoot. I initially thought you said you
- 0:43want to talk about Bitfoot, like just a bunch
- 0:46of bits the whole episode. But I guess you're...
- 0:53more serious than me about this bigfoot stuff
- 0:55so i guess we can cut to the intro and then come
- 0:57back and and let's uh we can start uh by just
- 1:01saying if we're serious about bigfoot sounds
- 1:07great welcome to our podcast where we take deep
- 1:09dives looking at various topics through a paranormal
- 1:12lens okay um i'm not serious about bigfoot brie
- 1:18are you serious about bigfoot i don't know oh
- 1:23it's such it's so bigfoot is so such an interesting
- 1:31concept idea cryptid possibility like there's
- 1:36so many people who have claimed to see claim
- 1:39to have an experience claim to capture evidence
- 1:41have found footprints of this supposed creature
- 1:45that exists but nobody actually has like There's
- 1:52no pictures. Hard proof of Bigfoot. That's what
- 1:55I was going to say. Like, how can a creature
- 1:58exist for so long and have been documented for
- 2:02so many years for there to not be, like, to come
- 2:07across like a body in the woods? Well, that's
- 2:09the thing. So, there are new creatures being
- 2:12discovered every day. But, they're not, they're
- 2:17like... remote areas most of the time it's not
- 2:20like every major city in america has a big yeah
- 2:24like deep cave dwelling shrimp or bottom of the
- 2:29marianas trench bacteria i don't know not a giant
- 2:35large ape -like creature in the americas yeah
- 2:41like there's there's parts of the wilderness
- 2:43and like canada that are very hard to reach and
- 2:47untouched by man but like some of these people
- 2:51are seeing bigfoot in their backyard stealing
- 2:54bird feeders and we are they sure that it's not
- 2:58a bear sure they're not bear that's a great we're
- 3:01from uh michigan right we've been to mackinac
- 3:05island it's an island and they have like bigfoot
- 3:08merch and stuff all these people coming in and
- 3:10the local like paranormal groups and stuff like
- 3:12there's no bigfoot sightings on here we're a
- 3:15small island you'd think like how does bigfoot
- 3:19get on this i just take a ferry with people it's
- 3:22like that's where i'm just completely lost yeah
- 3:24i mean it's funny you say that because i do have
- 3:27bigfoot mackinaw island merch as a fun thing
- 3:34It's a fun thing, but I don't... But why do they
- 3:37have the merch? Clearly because people say there's
- 3:40Bigfoot up there. People have 100 % seen it.
- 3:42They claim to see it online and stuff. Yeah.
- 3:46I think it's more of like, you know, Michigan
- 3:49specifically, if we're talking about Michigan
- 3:52and having the Bigfoot merch in Michigan and
- 3:56Magna Island. Michigan has always... like broadcasted
- 4:00that were or put out that were pure michigan
- 4:03it's it's all nature like you come to michigan
- 4:05to enjoy the outdoors and i i think of bigfoot
- 4:10as like the mascot for the untouched or unblemished
- 4:14natural resources of america and northern michigan
- 4:19parts of michigan are that and that's what people
- 4:23come to michigan for so to have the mascot of
- 4:26bigfoot be represented by that and like used
- 4:30as a sales sales point for mackinac island i
- 4:33think makes sense in my brain because if you
- 4:36think of bigfoot as a mascot instead of just
- 4:39like oh bigfoot's been seen here that's why we
- 4:42put them on merch it's like no not necessarily
- 4:46Like, he's not seen on Mackinac Island. It's
- 4:49just a representation of our natural resources.
- 4:52There are people. But I think it's more of a,
- 4:55you know, chicken and egg situation. I think
- 4:59the merch and all the exposure of Bigfoot might
- 5:02just prime people to be like, Bigfoot, Bigfoot?
- 5:05Oh, that thing yesterday? It's like, oh yeah,
- 5:08that thing might have been Bigfoot and not just,
- 5:11I don't know, a bear? A large person? Okay, here's
- 5:16the truth. Here's the truth. Mackinac Island.
- 5:18If you want some real tea, like insider knowledge,
- 5:22I don't even know if it's tea. It's more just
- 5:24like inside scoop. Maybe tea. The locals may
- 5:27not like that we're exposing the secret because
- 5:30we can go down conspiracy. Should I say it? I
- 5:33don't know what you're going to say, but say
- 5:35it. Yeah, I don't even know what you're going
- 5:36to say, so just say it. All the animals on Mackinac
- 5:40are... bigger than they're supposed to be we
- 5:43saw the most giant bugs the most giant spiders
- 5:46the world's biggest the biggest logs and toads
- 5:51and frogs on that island i've ever seen in my
- 5:54life yeah they were and they're covering the
- 5:57island at night literally when we went there
- 6:01i think because we were i don't even remember
- 6:05how late it was it was probably 3 a .m and we
- 6:08were trying to traipse across the whole island
- 6:10to get to our condo and there was just these
- 6:12massive like four to five inch or probably longer
- 6:16like more like six to eight inch long slugs just
- 6:20all over the pavement everywhere and the giant
- 6:24made you scream because it jumped and oh dude
- 6:29that toad was oh i have a photo of me holding
- 6:32it it's ginormous uh what a time what a time
- 6:35i mean listen I almost believe there was Bigfoot
- 6:40for a second there, when that giant toad leapt
- 6:42in the air. Because then it casts a shadow, and
- 6:44I'm like, Bigfoot! Ah! But no, it was just a
- 6:47toad. Are there bears on the island? I don't
- 6:49think so. I don't think so. Definitely going
- 6:52through the woods at night, it feels like there's
- 6:55something watching you. Oh, dude, that was so
- 6:57creepy. But it also could be other paranormal
- 7:01things. Or it could just be that it's woods at
- 7:04night. Anyways. Bigfoot. You know what I think,
- 7:10though? People always claim that they've seen
- 7:15Bigfoot and they got evidence, but there's no
- 7:19hardcore evidence for Bigfoot. My favorite thing,
- 7:24Angela, is that you sent this thing to us earlier,
- 7:29this guy claiming to have found a Bigfoot head.
- 7:33It's really funny looking. Yeah, but then I did
- 7:36some digging. Like, this post you found, it's
- 7:38new, and this guy's like, this is a Bigfoot head,
- 7:41authentic, from 1953. Eight years ago, another
- 7:44guy made, like, this kind of, it seemed like
- 7:49satire type of video on YouTube saying, I found
- 7:52a Bigfoot head that looked very similar from
- 7:541953. It seems like all these people claim to
- 7:58find these Bigfoot heads from 1953. It's like
- 8:01this niche little, like... i don't know i is
- 8:05it's too sporadic to be a trend but why only
- 8:08the head though i i don't it's it's i don't know
- 8:12i don't know the right word it's not like a trend
- 8:14but every couple years it's just like someone
- 8:16comes out with a bigfoot head it's weird and
- 8:19then you see all the time the the footprints
- 8:21and the hairs and stuff and then everything i
- 8:24think we're talking about this i don't know why
- 8:27we're talking about bigfoot at some point earlier
- 8:28in the podcast but we're saying like all the
- 8:32articles about it all the shows they all send
- 8:34them out to labs it's never conclusive so all
- 8:38the articles and everything they say it's being
- 8:40sent to the lab for more dna testing you've been
- 8:44saying that for decades you've never come to
- 8:48any conclusion occasionally they'll be like this
- 8:51matches another bigfoot hair what are you talking
- 8:54about that's not bigfoot hair yeah yeah it's
- 8:59almost like yeah It's almost like that jar of
- 9:03dog man hair that you have on your shelf. I do.
- 9:05It's definitely a dog man. Not from a dog in
- 9:11someone's household at all. That's a jar that's
- 9:16like a cool jar with old newspapers and stuff
- 9:19about the dog man. And there's hair in it. And
- 9:21it's more of like a prop. I'm not posting online
- 9:24saying I got dog man hair. That's a cute little
- 9:26knick -knack. Yeah, I know, you're joking, but
- 9:29this is what people, this is that type of just
- 9:33like, I don't know, I see like, you know, like
- 9:35the old roadside attractions where it's like,
- 9:38you know, the taxidermy stuff, you know, like
- 9:42a cow with two heads type of thing. I feel like
- 9:45that's how I look at Bigfoot sometimes when I
- 9:47see all this stuff. I don't know if that's offensive
- 9:51or not. I don't know. Well, do you know what
- 9:54I think is that they're... since so many people
- 9:59see it but there's not really like hardcore proof
- 10:01is bigfoot actually just a spirit of some sort
- 10:05that's what i was going to mention because there's
- 10:07a lot of different theories on bigfoot like and
- 10:11why we wouldn't have like hard proof evidence
- 10:14or like a physical body of a bigfoot is because
- 10:18oh is he a spirit yeah and then i know there's
- 10:21also those people who talk about bigfoot being
- 10:24an interdimensional being too I love that theory,
- 10:27and I'm all for it, honestly. Like, that one
- 10:30honestly makes the most sense to me. Which one?
- 10:34It being, like, an alien or another dimensional
- 10:37being that's somehow coming through on our side.
- 10:41Yeah, yeah. Now, okay, so here's the thing. Angela
- 10:43broke her mind, like, a few episodes ago, talking
- 10:48about how ghosts... should be naked and that
- 10:52most ghosts are naked. And we started an only
- 10:54November fans for that reason. And if we want
- 10:58to go down that route of ghosts are naked, they
- 11:02don't have razors or ways to shave in the afterlife.
- 11:07So do you think all these naked, hairy ghosts
- 11:09are what people are saying is Bigfoot? Now that's
- 11:16going far. That's some deep thinking right here.
- 11:22But why would they have like excessively large
- 11:25feet? Leaving tracks. Do you know my theory when
- 11:31I was a kid? Angela's like, Ben has no answer.
- 11:36I'm just going to change the topic. Next. I'm
- 11:41sorry. No, I don't. You saved my butt. Keep going.
- 11:46So my theory as a kid, because I was very like.
- 11:49rational you know as a youngster that my thought
- 11:53was it was rational what changed this um so i
- 12:00thought a guy got lost in the woods and just
- 12:04got really hairy because he didn't have anything
- 12:06to shave or cut his hair with and he just got
- 12:08lost and scares people in the woods He's just
- 12:15a really big guy who just got lost in the woods
- 12:17and can't shave and cut his hair. Sure. I saw
- 12:21this funny thing many years ago where someone
- 12:24took one of those scatter maps where it's like,
- 12:27oh, this is the map and it has the dots of the
- 12:30reported sightings of Bigfoot in America and
- 12:33compared it to a map of America where there's
- 12:37heavy concentrations of furries and it was lined
- 12:41up. don't think people are confusing like hyper
- 12:54colored i was gonna say how are people getting
- 12:56confused furries with bigfoot but it's still
- 13:00funny to think about well maybe maybe the furry
- 13:04community is just playing a big trick on us all
- 13:07hey it's possible when they're creating their
- 13:09own bigfoot costume it's totally possible i mean
- 13:12that's how that Not that I'm calling them a furry,
- 13:16but that's how that one famous picture of Bigfoot
- 13:19walking by the river was someone who was dressed
- 13:22in the Bigfoot suit. Which, I mean, at that point,
- 13:26can you consider them a furry? I was fascinated
- 13:29by that photo when I was in first grade. yeah
- 13:33i don't know there's so much controversy behind
- 13:35that picture too because the one person claims
- 13:38like yeah i wore the suit i did like it was totally
- 13:41staged this is the suit and everything and the
- 13:45photographer was is adamant even still with this
- 13:48person who came out saying that it was faked
- 13:51and they were in the suit that the picture was
- 13:53real and all this it's like if i feel like either
- 13:58one this person is set in thinking saying that
- 14:03that this picture is real or two this person
- 14:07has dementia and doesn't remember that it was
- 14:09faked i can never know okay i don't know hold
- 14:14on i don't know hold on time out we started this
- 14:17episode being like are we gonna offend people
- 14:19kind of making light about bigfoot and stuff
- 14:22and then i every time i say something i'm like
- 14:25hope that's not offensive This guy, you're talking
- 14:28about the Patterson footage, right? He's like
- 14:31a hero. Yeah, the Patterson footage. Yeah, he's
- 14:33a hero to Bigfoot fanatics. And Brianna just
- 14:37called him a dementia -ridden furry. I did not
- 14:42say that. So should I cut that out or not? We
- 14:45have no idea. I don't know, do we? What was I
- 14:50saying? Oh. Because on one hand, you have...
- 14:55this photographer who thinks who's saying that
- 14:58it's real and adamantly believes it's real so
- 15:04could it be that they do think it's real and
- 15:09or are trying to cover up the fact that it's
- 15:11that it was faked by continually saying that
- 15:13it was real or do they just not remember that
- 15:18they faked it i don't know it's hard to say the
- 15:21situation of how many looks does it take to get
- 15:23to the center of it Tootsie Pop. Huh? Tootsie
- 15:27Pop? The world will never know. The world may
- 15:30never know. What's the name of that sucker? Tootsie
- 15:34Pops. Oh, okay, I'm right. Yeah, you were right.
- 15:38Amazing. Anyways, but like... What are we talking
- 15:47about? I'm so confused. So, how many looks do
- 15:51you think it takes to get to the center of a
- 15:52Tootsie Pop? Should that be the next intro? That's
- 15:54another thing I was also extremely fascinated
- 15:56with as a kid, and I tried to do that myself,
- 15:58but then I got impatient and just ate it. The
- 16:01next intro for this audio podcast is we're going
- 16:04to spend 10 minutes looking at Tootsie Pop. One,
- 16:08two, three. God. Yeah. I don't know. With Bigfoot,
- 16:17it's so... I don't know. It's so complicated
- 16:23because you have so many people who have taken
- 16:26pictures, like I've said, have taken pictures,
- 16:29claimed to see it, claimed to have experiences.
- 16:33And there's just there's no evidence besides
- 16:36the footprints. Yeah. I also want to mention,
- 16:39too, like all the Bigfoot shows where they've
- 16:43never caught a Bigfoot. I feel like. 90 % of
- 16:47the shows I have watched for Bigfoot, they like
- 16:50get whistles or howls or knocks at night. Sometimes
- 16:54they find tracks. Sometimes maybe there's some
- 16:58interesting footage of some eyes in the woods.
- 17:03But nothing's ever like hard evidence that can't
- 17:08be disproven in some way. What are eyes? Eyes
- 17:12are just eyes. How can you tell besides like...
- 17:15the color or like the eyeshine or whatever like
- 17:19i don't know brie can you speak on that as the
- 17:21outdoors representative like can you really tell
- 17:24from a picture of eyes reflecting an infrared
- 17:27that like if an animal is a known animal or a
- 17:32bigfoot it's hard to say Like, sometimes he can,
- 17:37sometimes he can't, because, like, size matters.
- 17:40Size does matter. Say it again. Size matters.
- 17:43Louder for the people in the back. Size matters.
- 17:47Not in bed. You disturbed Brianna. Knock it off,
- 17:54Ben. Okay, keep going. I just wanted to reiterate
- 17:56what she was saying. No, I think I'm finished.
- 18:00Okay, but remember, though. We're talking about
- 18:01big feet, okay? Big, big. big big big it has
- 18:07to be big but remember though it has to be big
- 18:11but can we can we knock it off but remember when
- 18:18i saw douglas the kangaroo yes and the eyes were
- 18:23red okay let's do a flashback to angela's um
- 18:27what oh she saw a um not deer a not deer i was
- 18:31driving home and all of a sudden here comes this
- 18:34deer coming out right in front of me stops right
- 18:41in front of my car so obviously then i have to
- 18:43stop and he just stands there staring at me this
- 18:48is this is the weird part though that really
- 18:51gave me the crease because i'm like how how the
- 18:53heck is this possible the deer deer's eyes were
- 19:00red this deer had red glowing eyes okay so that
- 19:05was douglas and your it was the eyes were red
- 19:07so eye shine matters sometimes yeah but also
- 19:12at the same time it is hard to say like especially
- 19:16when you film through infrared especially when
- 19:18you film through infrared because you it you
- 19:21don't see color in infrared one um and two like
- 19:28the eyes are only going to capture them out of
- 19:31light. I was going to say, it's only going to
- 19:34show if there's light captured in them. That's
- 19:36true for a lot of things, even photography, right?
- 19:40You're dealing with a camera and a lens that
- 19:42interacts with the way the light hits it, right?
- 19:46And all these photos of Bigfoot are blurry, they're
- 19:50far away, poorly lit, as if these cameras themselves
- 19:55don't have enough light. So could Bigfoot just
- 19:58be allergic to light? Could he be a vampiric
- 20:00type of ancient Skrigoi? No, but no. That's a
- 20:08big word for Elmo. I don't even know what that
- 20:11word is. What did you say? Skrigoi? I'm actually
- 20:14going to fact check that I'm using that right.
- 20:17I don't even know what that word is. I have no
- 20:23words to say. I tried looking it up and how I
- 20:29think it's spelled. And the first thing that
- 20:30came up is Scraggy, which is a Pokemon. Definitely
- 20:35not what you're talking about. No, but if you
- 20:37want to talk about correlations, I'm curious.
- 20:40So there's a bunch of furries where Bigfoots
- 20:44are. I've also noticed there's a lot of Pokemon
- 20:46Go stops where ghosts are. So that might be if
- 20:53you want to do a furry and Pokemon episode. Could
- 20:57we actually just overlap all these different
- 20:59types of maps and see what correlates with what?
- 21:03Because that would be so entertaining. Yeah,
- 21:06it would be interesting, but also at the same
- 21:07time, these sorts of maps, they're fun to look
- 21:13at, but they really don't mean too much because...
- 21:19like especially with like like the correlation
- 21:22of the bigfoot versus the furry thing is like
- 21:25of course you're going to have higher uh occurrences
- 21:30or like sightings in places where people are
- 21:34and where and like you're you're gonna get that
- 21:40same correlation pretty much on every map because
- 21:44it's based on where people are in another thing
- 21:47too is that like it's going to be the same as
- 21:49looking at an at &t map i don't know yeah like
- 21:53i don't know any um i don't know any furries
- 21:56but they seem they're like by an outsider's viewpoint
- 22:03they seem like they're open to like another way
- 22:07of living in lifestyle and are open to a lot
- 22:10of different things so if what happens a lot
- 22:15of furries are the ones who are saying they seen
- 22:19bigfoot and it's like that would make sense because
- 22:23a normal person who doesn't believe in this stuff
- 22:25isn't gonna like go out and say i saw bigfoot
- 22:28you know like these are dirt these are gonna
- 22:30be the people who are open to the other unknown
- 22:36unseen things in this world you know ever since
- 22:39i was a kid and i saw peter pan i've loved the
- 22:42notion that if you believe in something even
- 22:45a mythical creature or never never land it is
- 22:48real or flying or flying unfortunately that's
- 22:51not how it works because i was also in a play
- 22:53of peter pan once and i in fact could not fly
- 22:58when i jumped off the stage even though i believed
- 23:01that i could just do like astral projecting and
- 23:05um you're while sleeping you can fly then yeah
- 23:10sure uh wholesome notion though i did look it
- 23:13up by the way this is why we fact check in real
- 23:15time it's actually a strigoi with a t not a c
- 23:19that's why i couldn't find it but it is the uh
- 23:22uh in in romania it's like ancient folklore type
- 23:28of creature that was the basis for what kind
- 23:30of a lot of people view as like the fictional
- 23:33vampires um but they're not like the charming
- 23:36dracula type of uh creature that often is seen
- 23:41in pop culture they were hideous beasts that
- 23:44uh reanimated corpses and drained the blood to
- 23:47gain vitality um they're shapeshifters they turn
- 23:51invisible they attack neighbors. That's an odd
- 23:55detail that they attack neighbors. Now that you
- 23:57say the word correctly and have the right letters
- 24:00in it, I recognize it, but Skrigoi just threw
- 24:05me off and I'm like, excuse me? It's not quite
- 24:10an... What's the word? Encyclopedia? Clearly
- 24:13I'm not an encyclopedia. Dictionary? No, no.
- 24:15I'm trying to say encyclopedia. I'm just dumb.
- 24:18It's not an encyclopedia up in here. It's, you
- 24:20know. More of a catalog of all recent searches
- 24:25going back 10 years. So, you know, digging in
- 24:29the depths. You got to finger through the files
- 24:33to find exactly what you're looking for. And
- 24:35that sometimes makes you have to look some things
- 24:37up again to, you know, refresh your memory. Correct.
- 24:42One thing I'll never forget, though, bringing
- 24:44back to Bigfoot. We're lucky we're in Michigan
- 24:47because we're home to... One of my favorite Bigfoot
- 24:51sightings of all time. This guy, I guess, in
- 24:55Midland, Michigan, saw some creature that he
- 25:01thought was Bigfoot. But in his words, it was
- 25:04less like Bigfoot and more like spiritual, which
- 25:09kind of goes to what Angela was saying, like
- 25:10that feeling that sometimes is associated with
- 25:14Bigfoot. So as an offering, he started leaving
- 25:17pizza boxes out. with pizza for bigfoot and bigfoot
- 25:21kept eating his pizza so uh it caught national
- 25:26news when some big bigfoot research association
- 25:30came in to collect dna samples of the hair caught
- 25:35in the pizza boxes that he was leaving as offerings
- 25:38to bigfoot was it just a bear inconclusive even
- 25:43a decade later as they tend to go interesting
- 25:45but apparently he would talk to bigfoot you know
- 25:51the typical things you know knocking on trees
- 25:53calls whatever but all of his conversations would
- 25:56only be about food apparently bigfoot not only
- 26:00likes pizza but he likes nutter butters as well
- 26:03um seems like a bigfoot thing and slim jims slim
- 26:07jims but then the local pizza joint because the
- 26:11owner of the pizza shop that he kept leaving
- 26:13offerings for bigfoot at um the guy lives on
- 26:19the same street and he's like i've never seen
- 26:22this bigfoot that he claims uh but i guess it's
- 26:27good for business so now to this day we'll have
- 26:29to try it sometime they sell bigfoot uh print
- 26:34shaped pizza yeah no way they have to make a
- 26:38special trip to midland that reminds me of um
- 26:41there's this tiktoker video person that pops
- 26:47up on my feed every once in a while. Even my
- 26:49parents just sent me one of his clips yesterday.
- 26:53And it's kind of like a similar situation. I
- 26:57don't know where he's from or where this is at,
- 27:01but he has this spot in the woods on his property
- 27:05that he calls the gifting stone. And he leaves
- 27:11gifts out for... Is it fairies? No, he thinks
- 27:16it is a Bigfoot or a family of Bigfoot. And he'll
- 27:21leave things for them and it will leave things
- 27:24for him in return, like animal bones and like
- 27:27other things. And there was a video that my parents
- 27:31sent me yesterday where he was out hunting in
- 27:33the woods on his property. And there's just these.
- 27:37howls that sound like that typical bigfoot howl
- 27:42that you hear in all the documentaries or movies
- 27:45or tv shows and it's but like this is just an
- 27:49average joe guy you know what i'm thinking about
- 27:53though have you guys seen that viral video of
- 27:56um like this person leaves food for this squirrel
- 28:01like nuts or whatever and then I can't think
- 28:04of it specifically, but then the squirrel returned
- 28:06a gift and it was a cookie for the human. So
- 28:11what I'm wondering, is it actually just a squirrel
- 28:15that may be leaving it and thanks for the food?
- 28:18I don't know, but I do know if you give a mouse
- 28:21a cookie. What? Squirrels are lousy? No, if you
- 28:27give a mouse a cookie. Oh, give a mouse a cookie.
- 28:31That's how you said squirrels are lousy. That's
- 28:33what you said. Squirrels are lousy. Angela didn't
- 28:39read that book. She read it if you give a Bigfoot
- 28:41pizza. But I feel like I even remember this guy
- 28:45at some point whatever it was, whether it is
- 28:54Bigfoot or some sort of different creature. started
- 28:58getting too close to his house and would keep
- 29:02him up at night throwing rocks at his house.
- 29:05And he actually had to go out there and shoot
- 29:08in the woods several times before it started
- 29:10leaving him alone again. Interesting. Whether
- 29:13all of that is real or not, I don't know. I still
- 29:16have those videos come across my page every once
- 29:18in a while. It's interesting. But also these
- 29:22things can be faked. Am I saying they are? I
- 29:27don't know. You can't know unless you actually
- 29:30know the person and go out there. I want to say
- 29:36too, it's a wholesome idea and I do believe that
- 29:40a lot of things, like Bigfoot is so prevalent
- 29:44as America's most popular cryptid. If you don't
- 29:47know what something is, you're just going to
- 29:50use terms you know. So, if you take this out
- 29:53of Bigfoot realm, because I do think, you know,
- 29:56the whole, what we see as, like, the pop culture
- 29:59Bigfoot is kind of goofy and ridiculous. But
- 30:02if you take that Bigfoot out of it and just say,
- 30:05like, some unknown animal or some paranormal
- 30:08supernatural thing was giving these gifts back,
- 30:10I don't know what it is, but I see Bigfoot everywhere.
- 30:13Maybe it's what they call Bigfoot. It doesn't
- 30:17sound so ridiculous. Yeah. Yeah, I don't know.
- 30:21If he starts coming up with hairs and prints
- 30:24and all this stuff, then it gets ridiculous.
- 30:27Yeah. To me. I just find Bigfoot so interesting
- 30:33because, like I said, he's such, like, everyone
- 30:38knows or has heard of Bigfoot. And even there's,
- 30:41like, regional different, like, types of Bigfoot.
- 30:45Like, down south you have the variant of, like,
- 30:47the skunk ape. um there's the yeti or the abominable
- 30:52snowman um i could never say that word don't
- 30:59actually ask me how to say it because i just
- 31:02say it fast so it sounds like i know what i'm
- 31:05saying sounds like you know what you're saying
- 31:06yeah that sounded right even though i said it
- 31:11wrong i'm perfect the saying it fast thing work
- 31:14works actually yeah yeah exactly um rihanna Now,
- 31:19that was wrong. It doesn't work for Brianna.
- 31:24It doesn't because that's not how you say it.
- 31:28Yeah, even though I say it fast. It has to do
- 31:29with the vowels. The vowels correctly. Everything
- 31:34else doesn't matter. Okay. Yeah, I think the
- 31:39skunk ape is kind of interesting because it's
- 31:42like, it's called a skunk ape because it smells
- 31:45like a skunk. The idea that the skunk ape, or
- 31:48even some people say that Bigfoot smells when
- 31:53they see it or find a vicinity. It also drives
- 31:59in that fact that it could also just be a bear.
- 32:02Because bear do also have a very strong smell
- 32:06to them. Like, you know when you're in the presence
- 32:10of a bear. I don't know this from personal experience,
- 32:13but... I do know that bears have a kind of rank
- 32:19smell to them. Because they're pretty oily and
- 32:23greasy. Yeah. So it still leaves that fact that
- 32:32people could be seeing bear and have never seen
- 32:36bear in the wild before. I know I've never seen
- 32:38a bear in the wild. I think when people go Bigfoot
- 32:44hunting and, you know, you have a big trip planned
- 32:47to and you're like, I'm going to find a Bigfoot.
- 32:51Sometimes you can't bear to admit that you saw
- 32:55anything other than Bigfoot. Yeah. I mean, if
- 33:00you see a bear in the woods and see it stand
- 33:04up on its hind legs. And don't really. and you're
- 33:09you're already searching for bigfoot or thinking
- 33:12you were gonna see bigfoot you're already gonna
- 33:15be like oh my god what is that and adrenaline's
- 33:19gonna be going so fast you're gonna want to get
- 33:21out of there and not really gonna pay attention
- 33:23to was that a bear or was that bigfoot because
- 33:25either way you don't want to be in its vicinity
- 33:27yeah i'm not saying like they're intentionally
- 33:30you never know bigfoot could be friendly It could.
- 33:35I mean, but even then it could be hindsight bias.
- 33:38So you see something quickly. It could be mistaken
- 33:42identity. It could be unintended. My whole point
- 33:44is I'm not saying everyone's faking sightings
- 33:47or that they're doing, doing anything on purpose.
- 33:54If you catch my drift. Yeah. To continue the
- 33:57cub pull of a bear puns I've done. This is going
- 34:04quite grisly. Oh gosh, Ben. I got a question,
- 34:12though. An idea. If Bigfoot is a spirit or an
- 34:16alien or another dimensional being. Alien? Collaborate
- 34:21on this alien theory. I don't really have anything
- 34:24to elaborate on. I don't know. Go deep into it.
- 34:30Anyway. If that's the case, could we just summon
- 34:34Bigfoot? Let's forget about hitting on a tree
- 34:38and yelling out to Bigfoot and all that other
- 34:41lovely jazz like leaving out the pizzas and see
- 34:44if it gets disappeared. Let's just summon it
- 34:47like we summon a spirit. Oh my gosh. You see,
- 34:54why has every episode for the past like a month
- 34:58ended with Angela wanting to summon whatever
- 35:01we're talking about? Have you noticed this too,
- 35:03Free? Uh, yeah. What's that? Didn't you start
- 35:09a list of things to do and not to do, and we
- 35:11already determined not to whistle at or summon,
- 35:17which we basically said that whistling to lure
- 35:22a cryptid out is potentially the equivalent of
- 35:26summoning? I don't know. What is wrong with having
- 35:29curiosities and wanting to summon creatures to
- 35:33understand them? This is what's wrong. When you
- 35:35summon Bigfoot, and he managed... I want to hear
- 35:39her play this out. Sorry, Brie, but this is important
- 35:41to me. No, go for it. When you summon Bigfoot
- 35:44to our apartment, and he shows up in our apartment,
- 35:46what do you do? What's the next step? I don't
- 35:52know. It really depends. That's why we won't
- 35:54let you summon Bigfoot. Because you don't know
- 35:56what to do. You don't know. You gotta do one
- 36:00step at a time. No. You'll deal with it when
- 36:02it happens, you know? No. And if it's a spirit,
- 36:05it's not gonna, like, show up. It could show
- 36:08up physically. Who knows? I don't know. I don't
- 36:12know. We'll just leave the apartment and we'll
- 36:14call the cops. What are the cops gonna do? What
- 36:20are the cops gonna do if you summon Bigfoot and
- 36:23he comes out and shoot it and kill it? it's not
- 36:28if it's a spiritual being it's not gonna die
- 36:31from getting shot angela okay no no you don't
- 36:35know what happens the spear then you can you
- 36:38can summon it and it can form into a physical
- 36:41creature sure so let's play this out i i love
- 36:45doing this because she's actually coming up with
- 36:47answers on the spot um if you summon bigfoot
- 36:51and he actually shows up and He's not as friendly
- 36:56as you, for some reason, think he might be. And
- 36:59you call the cops. I don't really think he is,
- 37:00but he might be. I'm just saying, you never know.
- 37:02He might be. Okay, Brianna is going to be the
- 37:06dispatcher, okay? So, Brianna, when you feel
- 37:10comfortable. 911, what's your emergency? There
- 37:12you go. Angela, carry the conversation. What
- 37:15do you say? Okay, there is a big animal that
- 37:19got into our apartment, and we're really scared,
- 37:21and we need help to get it out. animal is in
- 37:29your apartment be like we're not quite sure we
- 37:32ran out before we could take a good look at it
- 37:34but it's big and it's scary we need help um how
- 37:39did this animal get into your apartment we don't
- 37:43know okay what is your address you don't have
- 37:48to say that Oh, so you're on the second floor?
- 37:53How did a large animal get into a second floor?
- 37:56It came up the stairs. Did you not have your
- 38:01door closed? No. Where is the animal currently
- 38:09in the house? In our apartment, but we're out
- 38:11right now. Your apartment, yeah. Oh my gosh.
- 38:16I feel like there's some other questions. Does
- 38:18the animal seem vicious? yes oh my god hey hey
- 38:30i'm just saying i'm just saying if if it be some
- 38:37of it and a physical creature of a bigfoot actually
- 38:40shows up and it's terrifying and it's big we're
- 38:45out of here and what are we gonna do We're going
- 38:48to be really freaking terrified. We're going
- 38:49to be screaming. The neighbors are probably going
- 38:51to hear us and they're probably going to call
- 38:53the cops being like, what the fuck is happening?
- 38:54And then, you know. Also, if it is a spiritual
- 38:59being and you summon it to your apartment and
- 39:02it does turn aggressive, would jocks fight for
- 39:05you? That was a good question. We don't really
- 39:09know the full powers of jocks. Would Jacques
- 39:13take on Bigfoot? I'm imagining Jacques opening
- 39:16his doors and just sucking Bigfoot into him and
- 39:20then disappears into the abyss. Or releasing
- 39:22the 27 to fight Bigfoot. This sounds like one
- 39:26of those Godzilla vs. Kong movies. Except it's
- 39:31Jacques vs. Bigfoot. Jacques vs. Bigfoot. The
- 39:36army of the 27 comes, you know, because they
- 39:39always have the military shooting at the giant
- 39:41creatures. Or would, like Angela said, Jacques
- 39:45absorb Bigfoot and then make it 28. That's what
- 39:48I'm imagining. 28. Ben, do you want to ask Jacques
- 39:53these questions tonight? No. Oh, come on. I'd
- 40:00be interested next time you guys do talk to him.
- 40:02what he has to say about that. Yeah. I'll ask
- 40:07him if Bigfoot is real and if he'd fight him.
- 40:11I'm just looking at him. He has the attitude
- 40:14right now like you guys are freaking whack but
- 40:17he's enjoying the conversation. His smile is
- 40:23extra perky right now. Oh boy. I don't like picturing
- 40:28that in my brain. We're gonna move on. Oh, Jax?
- 40:33Having an extra perky smile? I don't like that.
- 40:37You would like it less if he had a sinister smile.
- 40:40It's like, mwahaha, they wanted someone bigfoot.
- 40:44Dude, I don't even, I... Dude, I genuinely need
- 40:49to stop talking about him because I'm getting
- 40:50so freaked out now. in the room and he's staring
- 40:59right at me. The head is tilted just a little
- 41:01bit just to be pointing right at me. I mean,
- 41:05you guys know that when I stayed at the apartment,
- 41:08I said, he can be in the room with me, but he
- 41:10has to face in the opposite direction. And then
- 41:13I stacked the cushions from the couch so I could
- 41:17not see him. You notice a trend? Every episode
- 41:22we start talking about like an animal, like the
- 41:23owls episode, I got freaked out by the end. Every
- 41:26time we talk about it. And then we're talking
- 41:27about Bigfoot and I'm genuinely getting creeped
- 41:29out now with him. The animal ones do be scary.
- 41:32Oh, they are. The scary thing isn't the animal
- 41:35this time. No. I mean, even last time. It's the
- 41:38thing that's in your apartment. Last time it
- 41:40was the dweller stuff. Yeah. I got actual goosebumps
- 41:46right now. I'm like, oh, I don't like this. No
- 41:51one will truly understand jocks unless you live
- 41:54with them. Well, any final thoughts on Bigfoot?
- 41:57Do you guys believe he's real? Do you not believe
- 41:59he's real? 50 -50. I don't really have a... I
- 42:07really can't answer that question. What about
- 42:10you, Ben? No, this conversation did not change
- 42:14my opinion on Bigfoot whatsoever. It didn't change
- 42:17my opinion either. I was always at a 50 -50.
- 42:20I don't... I'm not here nor there. Yay or nay.
- 42:26I think there's so much... like i've said the
- 42:31whole episode there's so many people who have
- 42:33had the experience who have seen him who have
- 42:36taken pictures it's hard to say that he's not
- 42:39real but also without that hard evidence you
- 42:44can't say that he is but that's the whole thing
- 42:46with cryptozoology is like these creatures cryptids
- 42:51cryptozoology cryptozoology I like that. It's
- 43:02a real term. It is a real term. I've never heard
- 43:06that before. It's the study of cryptid or mythical
- 43:12creatures. Is that a scientific term or is that
- 43:18a made up term by Bigfoot hunters and stuff?
- 43:21It's an actual term whether it was made up by
- 43:25people who study cryptids or Not? I don't know.
- 43:30Because it doesn't just apply to Bigfoot. It
- 43:31applies to all things. Yeah, yeah. I'm just surprised
- 43:35I've never heard that before. I am too. Yeah,
- 43:40so it was coined in the 1950s by a zoologist
- 43:47called Bernard Hoyvremens. I said it fast, so
- 43:52you can't tell me I said it wrong. And it means
- 43:55study of hidden animals. basically all creatures
- 44:01not recognized by mainstream science. Like the
- 44:07giant squid could have been considered a cryptid
- 44:10at one point, but then it was actually found
- 44:13to be real. Oh, this is interesting. The term
- 44:16cryptid itself wasn't coined until 1983. Oh,
- 44:23so after the term cryptozoology was coined. Very
- 44:26interesting. just on a quick google search it
- 44:29seems like there is a zoologist who zoology you
- 44:33know you know what zoology is and he was like
- 44:36working on a book and he was like again i could
- 44:39be butchering this whole story because i just
- 44:42did two second google search but it seems like
- 44:44he was like there's all these animals that fall
- 44:46outside the realm of what normal zoologists recognize
- 44:50so cryptozoology does that work is that how cryptic
- 44:56That word came about? Yeah, I'm not going to
- 44:58go down that rabbit hole, but potentially, I
- 45:00mean, they're so similar, but... Yeah. So, yes,
- 45:06it was a term created by a real scientist, but
- 45:10it describes animals that fall outside of what
- 45:12science recognizes. Oh, yes. Very interesting.
- 45:17I like that. Well, if we want to end this episode
- 45:22on a koala... note. I know we have barely enough
- 45:30time left, but you can let me have one or two
- 45:38more puns to end this, and that will be the bare
- 45:42minimum that I feel. Bye. Thanks for listening
