- 0:25Speaker 2: the Guy next Door podcast you.
- 0:26Speaker 3: Can find on Apple or what have you listening.
- 0:28Speaker 2: To podcasts, one half of the what if I Question
- 0:31Speaker 2: legend the list with the nihilis Simone d Block a
- 0:33Speaker 2: King and see all your catches every Monday. But what
- 0:37Speaker 2: I love most to host the track karaoke Wing your
- 0:39Speaker 2: City each and every weekend. I do a bunch of
- 0:42Speaker 2: other stuff.
- 0:43Speaker 1: But yeah, you're you're a mover and a shaker. So guys,
- 0:47Speaker 1: Mouse had to go through a lot to be here. Okay,
- 0:51Speaker 1: you you you're originally from New York. Okay, so yeah,
- 0:55Speaker 1: he came from my hometown city, New York. Uh. Yes,
- 0:59Speaker 1: And I've been trying to get you on our shoul
- 1:01Speaker 1: for what I made a mental note. I wanted to
- 1:04Speaker 1: get you for the last six months, so I like
- 1:06Speaker 1: shot my yeah, since we.
- 1:08Speaker 4: Met YEP, and I tried.
- 1:12Speaker 1: I shot my shot, and I was trying to be
- 1:13Speaker 1: respectful to you. I was like, oh, come to New York.
- 1:15Speaker 1: And then I was just like, man, it's not gonna
- 1:18Speaker 1: be for a while. And you you came to LA,
- 1:20Speaker 1: So I'm super happy. And then of course we're discussing
- 1:23Speaker 1: your broke dish and that's when my happiness faded. Can
- 1:27Speaker 1: you tell everybody what it is you're gonna have me
- 1:30Speaker 1: eating today? Us eating today?
- 1:32Speaker 3: Yeah, I didn't know it was.
- 1:34Speaker 2: I really, I know it's about me, but I want
- 1:36Speaker 2: an interview you. I want to know what you have
- 1:38Speaker 2: against this. But I broke dish when I was dead
- 1:41Speaker 2: broke I'm talking about. I was damn bad, no money
- 1:43Speaker 2: in my pocket, all my money was going, you know,
- 1:47Speaker 2: fresh out of a divorced sleeping on my brother's couch
- 1:50Speaker 2: two days, two times a day. I was eating peanut
- 1:53Speaker 2: butter and banana sandwich and whole meal.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Yeah. So when I when I saw that d M,
- 2:21Speaker 1: you saw my response, but say, I said, I absolutely
- 2:24Speaker 1: absolutely hate your meal, and I absolutely hate your meal.
- 2:28Speaker 1: There's nothing about this meal that looks exciting between the oatmeal,
- 2:32Speaker 1: the peanut butter without jelly.
- 2:34Speaker 4: I mean, the only thing that's decent is the bananas.
- 2:36Speaker 2: So with the peanut butter in the banana is like
- 2:38Speaker 2: a like a marriage.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Yes, So the ingredients for your dish are we got oatmeal.
- 2:44Speaker 3: Right here, and you got some sugar right here because
- 2:47Speaker 3: you need the sugar. Damn. It was crazy thing.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Right now when I want to switch it up, spicy
- 2:51Speaker 2: little bit, I put the sugar on the peanut butter
- 2:54Speaker 2: and bananas.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Man, I'm so glad I wasn't broke with you.
- 2:59Speaker 4: Man, I'm glad I was.
- 3:01Speaker 1: I mean, I'm sure you know. I mean I've had
- 3:04Speaker 1: everything from syrup sandwiches to some crazy stuff on this
- 3:07Speaker 1: judging this.
- 3:08Speaker 4: Listen, let me tell you something.
- 3:09Speaker 1: I definitely would never do a syrup sandwich again. Right,
- 3:11Speaker 1: they don't like that, but I haven't had it yet, okay.
- 3:15Speaker 4: And then so you have the bread.
- 3:16Speaker 3: You have to be bread.
- 3:17Speaker 2: You got the bananas, you know, and they got a
- 3:19Speaker 2: little black on them, so you know they've been in
- 3:21Speaker 2: the air a little bit, so you know, got some
- 3:23Speaker 2: season into it, got some life to it.
- 3:25Speaker 3: You don't want no birchon.
- 3:26Speaker 4: Banana, I'm actually.
- 3:28Speaker 1: And then you have your peanut butter, the.
- 3:30Speaker 2: Gyps the creamy. You knew, yeah, I knew what time
- 3:32Speaker 2: it was.
- 3:33Speaker 4: I was gonna ask you, are you a creamy or
- 3:35Speaker 4: you're a chunky?
- 3:36Speaker 3: Nah?
- 3:37Speaker 2: I gotta be creamy?
- 3:39Speaker 4: Am I the only chunky person.
- 3:41Speaker 2: That's crazy.
- 3:42Speaker 4: I love it.
- 3:43Speaker 2: That's nuts. I don't don't pun intended, like I don't
- 3:46Speaker 2: understand that, like I want. If I wanted something crunch,
- 3:49Speaker 2: I wouldn't eat a smooth thing.
- 3:53Speaker 1: I guess I Ever since Snickers came into my life,
- 3:57Speaker 1: I think I switched over to the nutty team. Anyways,
- 4:03Speaker 1: start making this oatmeal.
- 4:04Speaker 4: I see your waters boiling.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Side note, guys, just so you know, we were discussing
- 4:08Speaker 1: like does mouse eat does he make his oatmeal from scratch?
- 4:14Speaker 1: We actually brought from scratch oatmeal. But I guess Mouse
- 4:17Speaker 1: and I both agree instant is the.
- 4:19Speaker 4: Only way to go. Instant is the only way to go.
- 4:23Speaker 1: And so we're gonna be making, for the first time
- 4:27Speaker 1: together ever, oatmeal from scratch. I think, yeah, the red
- 4:33Speaker 1: I think the red world.
- 4:35Speaker 4: And okay, you do what You're the chef.
- 4:39Speaker 1: You're the chef. You're the chef. This is your broke dish.
- 4:43Speaker 4: So what was going on?
- 4:45Speaker 1: You said? You were divorced. But what was going on
- 4:47Speaker 1: at the time when you're eating peanut butter and oatmeal
- 4:50Speaker 1: and this was a package deal, right, this is what
- 4:52Speaker 1: you ate together.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Oh my gosh.
- 4:55Speaker 4: So glad I wasn't broke all right.
- 4:57Speaker 2: So what happened was, you know, I got I got
- 4:59Speaker 2: mad at a young age, and so I got divorced
- 5:01Speaker 2: at a young age. And when it happened, you know, it's, uh,
- 5:07Speaker 2: it's unfortunate when two incomplete people get married, right, when
- 5:13Speaker 2: two incomplete people get married and try and like make this.
- 5:16Speaker 3: I don't know what's going.
- 5:17Speaker 4: On this maybe you turn it down, it down, yeah,
- 5:22Speaker 4: I think so, yeah, yeah, we'll go the other way.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Yeah it's like phone all right.
- 5:28Speaker 2: But yes, so, like I'm saying, so when two you know,
- 5:33Speaker 2: they don't know how to break up because you didn't
- 5:35Speaker 2: even really know how to come together, right, So you know,
- 5:37Speaker 2: the breakup was I wont to say ugly, but it
- 5:40Speaker 2: wasn't you know, nice. So and at the time we
- 5:44Speaker 2: broke up over you know, the thing I wanted to
- 5:46Speaker 2: chase in life, which was my career. You know, I
- 5:50Speaker 2: had spent a lot of time doing what other people
- 5:53Speaker 2: wanted me to do, doing what seemed to make the
- 5:55Speaker 2: best decision. You know, I went to the military, came home.
- 5:58Speaker 2: You know, I was in the streets every couple of months.
- 6:01Speaker 2: You know, my family will try and get me out
- 6:02Speaker 2: the streets. So you know, give me a job doing this,
- 6:04Speaker 2: give me a job doing that.
- 6:05Speaker 1: When you say in the streets, what were you doing
- 6:07Speaker 1: in the streets? And so I'm sorry, that's good.
- 6:13Speaker 3: I think I got it to me. Boy, it looked
- 6:17Speaker 3: like the old man.
- 6:18Speaker 2: But yeah, so when I finally found it, uh, you know,
- 6:23Speaker 2: through all that time, I'm married and uh, you know,
- 6:25Speaker 2: shout to her. She was a writer because everything every
- 6:29Speaker 2: stage I went through, she was with me. So you know,
- 6:31Speaker 2: when I want to be a stand up comedian, where
- 6:35Speaker 2: I met her doing that.
- 6:36Speaker 3: So you know I want to do stand up. She
- 6:37Speaker 3: was supporting it.
- 6:38Speaker 2: You know, I want to write. You know, I want
- 6:40Speaker 2: to take two three months and write, uh we call it.
- 6:47Speaker 3: Web series. I wanted to write old websites took two
- 6:49Speaker 3: three months, right. We also you know, we got two
- 6:51Speaker 3: kids to take two three months.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Right write a web sites and boarded it like when
- 6:56Speaker 2: it was time to do the uh, when it was
- 7:00Speaker 2: time to do the readings and all that she was
- 7:03Speaker 2: right there, so you know, support it now once I
- 7:10Speaker 2: figured out what I really wanted to do, which you know,
- 7:12Speaker 2: I was just in for my brother.
- 7:14Speaker 3: One day we was talking. He was like, Yo, you
- 7:16Speaker 3: should be on the radio with like Charlemagne and them.
- 7:19Speaker 2: That's the thing about people in the hood, Like people
- 7:22Speaker 2: in the hood are like some of the greatest talent
- 7:23Speaker 2: scouts in the world. Like people who see you, they
- 7:28Speaker 2: see you like people know that they see you like
- 7:31Speaker 2: there is no fluff about it. So when he said that,
- 7:35Speaker 2: he never said nothing like that before, Like when I
- 7:37Speaker 2: was doing comedy, he'd be like, oh, you're funny, he'd support,
- 7:40Speaker 2: you know, he didn't really understand the web serities things,
- 7:42Speaker 2: but he support.
- 7:43Speaker 3: That was the first thing he ever said, like you
- 7:46Speaker 3: should do this. Ye see you doing this? And in
- 7:49Speaker 3: my mind, I'm like, yeah, I should be unhard, what's
- 7:52Speaker 3: all I mean? But yeah, how do I do that?
- 7:55Speaker 3: This two thousand and you didn't.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Have connections to him at all, zero, Right, So it's
- 7:58Speaker 2: like twenty thirteen, I'm in the other Like it was like, cool,
- 8:03Speaker 2: I'll figure that out.
- 8:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:04Speaker 2: So you know, at around that time, I discovered podcasting.
- 8:08Speaker 2: I had discovered the read and This is early on
- 8:10Speaker 2: in podcasting. I discovered the read, and from the read,
- 8:13Speaker 2: I discovered you know, combat Jack Bring Idiots, and then
- 8:16Speaker 2: I was like I could do this, this I can
- 8:19Speaker 2: do Yeah, it doesn't seem to be such heavy lifting.
- 8:21Speaker 2: So I did my you know, I came up with
- 8:23Speaker 2: my first podcast in twenty fourteen. He mean one made
- 8:26Speaker 2: his club and just was putting working at a right
- 8:30Speaker 2: recording every week, getting.
- 8:31Speaker 3: It out, pushing it, pushing it.
- 8:34Speaker 2: My profile on Twitter went up, you know, getting into
- 8:37Speaker 2: it with certain people who just sharing my opinion, you know,
- 8:40Speaker 2: put me in a so it be, can't you know.
- 8:43Speaker 2: And then if you're doing that, especially in New York,
- 8:45Speaker 2: you gotta be outside, gotta be outside especially, you know,
- 8:48Speaker 2: I discovered my love for hosting and was like, you
- 8:51Speaker 2: gotta be outside. And none of this is paying the bills.
- 8:54Speaker 2: So you know, you got two people to to with kids,
- 8:59Speaker 2: two people with kids, and I wasn't smart enough to
- 9:02Speaker 2: be like, hey, let's find a babysitter so you could
- 9:05Speaker 2: come with me and see this.
- 9:07Speaker 3: It was like, I you home that mouth.
- 9:10Speaker 2: So it became this contentious thing about like her burst
- 9:14Speaker 2: of my career, which I understand now than adult I
- 9:16Speaker 2: understand then, I understand it.
- 9:17Speaker 3: Now, and so that's what ultimately tour us apart.
- 9:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:22Speaker 2: So when we get divorced, I ain't got nothing, so
- 9:26Speaker 2: I leave, you know, I leave the apartment while and
- 9:28Speaker 2: the kids and I had my brother. I'm like, yo,
- 9:30Speaker 2: I'm just wearing the couch because in my mind, I
- 9:32Speaker 2: was like, I already know what I gotta do. I
- 9:34Speaker 2: gotta be as close as At this time, I was
- 9:35Speaker 2: living on Long Island, and I got to be as
- 9:37Speaker 2: close as city as possible, so where I could just
- 9:40Speaker 2: get to heat father living in Jerse City, seem it's
- 9:42Speaker 2: literally twenty minutes.
- 9:43Speaker 3: Outside of the city if that.
- 9:45Speaker 4: Yeah, So I was.
- 9:47Speaker 2: Like, listen, I didn't even have to say that. He
- 9:49Speaker 2: was like bringing stuff to him. That's the saddest view
- 9:52Speaker 2: you could ever see.
- 9:53Speaker 3: Like I got.
- 9:54Speaker 2: I don't even at this time, I was traveling them,
- 9:56Speaker 2: so I didn't have no luggage. So all my clothes
- 9:58Speaker 2: in garbage bathroom.
- 9:59Speaker 1: Oh wow. Yeah.
- 10:00Speaker 2: And he picks me up and I'm out there for
- 10:02Speaker 2: like a year and a half on his couch, is
- 10:04Speaker 2: grinding every morning, wake up, eat this and I would
- 10:08Speaker 2: eat it twice a day so I wouldn't be hungry.
- 10:10Speaker 2: So my homegirl Chloe shout out to Chloe. She was
- 10:13Speaker 2: had this running joke for years.
- 10:14Speaker 3: She was like, yeah, whenever you see mouse, you don't eat.
- 10:17Speaker 3: And I was like, I'm not hungry, but I'm not hungry.
- 10:20Speaker 3: I knew I ain't had no money they.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Eat, so I made sure I ate food that filled
- 10:25Speaker 2: me up throughout the day. So that's where you had
- 10:27Speaker 2: the oatmeal. You know, oatmeal This come from my grandmother,
- 10:30Speaker 2: you know what I mean.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Like, we got it. We got to plate that. Are
- 10:33Speaker 1: you gonna put sugar in it?
- 10:34Speaker 4: Yeah, before it gets all like soft or hard.
- 10:38Speaker 3: Okay, you need that all right.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Serve it how you ate it so I can have
- 10:41Speaker 1: the full mouse experience.
- 10:43Speaker 3: You gotta get that, you know what I mean.
- 10:44Speaker 2: And it don't let so let my brother wife be
- 10:47Speaker 2: like cooking. I see some brown sugar in there, Put
- 10:49Speaker 2: some brown sugar in there.
- 10:50Speaker 3: Come on, boy.
- 10:51Speaker 1: So I'm just curious because I'm going through something similar.
- 10:53Speaker 1: So did your wife at the time, did she like
- 10:56Speaker 1: take on the baby's full control, like full full time
- 10:59Speaker 1: while you were pursuing your dreams.
- 11:01Speaker 2: I mean, she ain't had no truice to you know
- 11:02Speaker 2: what I mean, Like that's one thing about that I've
- 11:05Speaker 2: always commended. No matter where we stood, Blowys commended that
- 11:08Speaker 2: she's a rider, you know what I mean. She digg
- 11:09Speaker 2: he a feed in and get to it. And so
- 11:12Speaker 2: we're both like that. I think that's what attracted both
- 11:14Speaker 2: of us to one another. I started me just being
- 11:16Speaker 2: absolutely gorgeous m hm. So when it came to that,
- 11:21Speaker 2: you know, yeah, I'm in Jersey. I'm in Jersey figuring
- 11:24Speaker 2: it out. She's not, you know what I mean, she
- 11:27Speaker 2: got these kids, so you.
- 11:28Speaker 3: Know, I'm out here.
- 11:29Speaker 2: I knew in my head that, like I'm hustling for
- 11:32Speaker 2: something though I'm not just out here bullshit, you know
- 11:34Speaker 2: what I mean.
- 11:34Speaker 3: I'm out here chasing something.
- 11:36Speaker 2: I know what I'm like I talked about on my
- 11:38Speaker 2: on Guy next Door a few weeks ago, Like I
- 11:41Speaker 2: know what the end goal is, right, Like I've spoke
- 11:44Speaker 2: to God.
- 11:45Speaker 3: I trust in God. I know what I know what
- 11:46Speaker 3: the end goal is. It's that journey in between.
- 11:49Speaker 2: That's the rough part, right, And that's what wasn't I
- 11:52Speaker 2: was at the beginning of it, and nobody seen it,
- 11:56Speaker 2: no except.
- 11:56Speaker 4: My brother, Like, you know, so she knew what was
- 11:59Speaker 4: going on, right.
- 12:00Speaker 3: No, I don't. I don't, I don't know.
- 12:04Speaker 2: You know, we've never had that conversation, but I'm pretty
- 12:06Speaker 2: sure she believed no one at that time was closer
- 12:09Speaker 2: to me. So I'm pretty sure it's you know, being
- 12:11Speaker 2: that close to me, you know exactly, you know what
- 12:12Speaker 2: I'm said. But this talent that is talking and you know,
- 12:17Speaker 2: speaking and communicating with people, O rating and uh, you know,
- 12:21Speaker 2: telling people's stories and you know, doing this very face
- 12:25Speaker 2: to face type of thing.
- 12:27Speaker 3: It's new.
- 12:28Speaker 2: It's rather new, right like before there was a barrier, right,
- 12:32Speaker 2: this was the barrier, right Like we would be home
- 12:34Speaker 2: and we would watch the people on the screen and
- 12:36Speaker 2: there would be like a twelve million miles separation because
- 12:41Speaker 2: you're like, oh, this is how do you get there?
- 12:43Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 12:43Speaker 2: Because at that point, but I smelled it. But at
- 12:46Speaker 2: that point when my brother said, hey, you should be
- 12:48Speaker 2: on the RAM, I'm like, wait talking about it wasn't
- 12:51Speaker 2: until I released that podcast and I started seeing people
- 12:54Speaker 2: from Australia, seeing people from Mexico, seeing people in Africa,
- 12:58Speaker 2: seeing people in Dakota, Texas place I haven't been reaching
- 13:02Speaker 2: out to me, Like yo, when you said this was
- 13:04Speaker 2: larryous and by listen, by no means, was that first
- 13:07Speaker 2: podcast anything that somebody should go back and listen to
- 13:11Speaker 2: it and feel like they get to know me from that.
- 13:13Speaker 3: We was ignorant, it.
- 13:15Speaker 2: Was it was the wild West back then, but it
- 13:19Speaker 2: was connecting with people, you know what I'm saying. And
- 13:21Speaker 2: that's when I started getting to taste like that, twelve
- 13:24Speaker 2: million miles just got shorter, just got shorter.
- 13:27Speaker 3: And then I'm reading a lot and I'm reading you
- 13:29Speaker 3: know what I mean.
- 13:29Speaker 2: I'm reading Charlemagne's book, and I'm reading la Read's book,
- 13:32Speaker 2: and I'm reading Andrew Martinez's book.
- 13:34Speaker 3: I'm listening to Combat Jack and it's.
- 13:36Speaker 2: Like all these stories of people that took the unorthodox route,
- 13:41Speaker 2: people that believed in their talent and got to where
- 13:44Speaker 2: they had to get to.
- 13:45Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying. There wasn't no formal training,
- 13:47Speaker 3: there was no school.
- 13:47Speaker 2: So now that twelve million miles just went from like
- 13:50Speaker 2: eight million hours at like four million, I'm like, all right, well,
- 13:54Speaker 2: every and then I just always knew a lot of
- 13:57Speaker 2: people talk about confidence, especially when they describe me. I
- 13:59Speaker 2: don't have no confidence. I tell you now, I'm not
- 14:01Speaker 2: a confident person at all. I'm an honest person. I
- 14:04Speaker 2: like that honest person. So if I'm the best, I'm
- 14:08Speaker 2: gonna say I'm the best. I'm not gonna wait for
- 14:09Speaker 2: you to say. I don't need you to.
- 14:10Speaker 3: I know i'm the best.
- 14:12Speaker 2: But if I'm not the best, I'm gona shut up. Yeah,
- 14:14Speaker 2: fall back, I'm get out the way.
- 14:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:16Speaker 3: So if you hear me saying the best of something,
- 14:17Speaker 3: just no.
- 14:18Speaker 2: I know I'm a thousand percent short and anytime I
- 14:20Speaker 2: get an opportunity to prove it, I'm improve it.
- 14:23Speaker 3: And that's what happened. I started getting opportunities to prove it.
- 14:26Speaker 4: Okay, So what was your next big milestone?
- 14:29Speaker 2: I would say the so I would say from my
- 14:32Speaker 2: brother's couch, the first big milestone.
- 14:34Speaker 1: And you were you were homeless. Yeah, you're homeless, and
- 14:38Speaker 1: you're still pursuing your dreams and you're not making any
- 14:42Speaker 1: money at this point, right, because I'm sure. Yeah, in
- 14:46Speaker 1: the beginning. Usually it's you know, the first couple of years,
- 14:49Speaker 1: you're not make nothing.
- 14:50Speaker 3: I'm not making no money.
- 14:51Speaker 1: And there's no side gigs, no side hustles. Are you
- 14:53Speaker 1: still robbing or no? Uh?
- 14:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I was. I was.
- 14:56Speaker 2: My brother.

- 16:10Speaker 2: was wilent at a certain point. You know, I was
- 16:12Speaker 2: getting into it with people because I ain't know where
- 16:15Speaker 2: Twitter stopped in real life beginning at a certain point
- 16:17Speaker 2: because I'm like, I didn't know that there was just
- 16:21Speaker 2: I didn't know that what you what certain people said
- 16:23Speaker 2: on Twitter was just what they said on Twitter.
- 16:26Speaker 1: Oh so it was like, yo, you said something to

- 16:51Speaker 2: do what they do. Now we're doing this. You're gonna
- 16:53Speaker 2: be around us. You gotta do this. And it was
- 16:57Speaker 2: at that point I said, all right, because I'm risking
- 17:01Speaker 2: my life every time I go out here. Yeah, yeah,
- 17:06Speaker 2: I'm risking my life and I'm playing with an opportunity.
- 17:10Speaker 2: This is God giving what I do is God given?
- 17:14Speaker 1: Was it an easy decision or hard decision? I was like,
- 17:21Speaker 1: you were like, let me get one more.
- 17:22Speaker 4: Legid about it.
- 17:24Speaker 2: I was like, God the robber, if you don't want
- 17:29Speaker 2: me to do this, no more telling me, because God,
- 17:31Speaker 2: you want me to be broken. I'm like, you know,
- 17:33Speaker 2: I'm trying to gas Like God, I'm like.

- 17:40Speaker 3: I ain't brought no new sneakers like a.
- 17:42Speaker 2: Year like or more.
- 17:45Speaker 4: But yeah, you know, so how do you when I
- 17:47Speaker 4: stop doing it?
- 17:48Speaker 2: When I stopped doing this, how good God is? When
- 17:49Speaker 2: I stopped doing it, the doors opened up?
- 17:52Speaker 4: And give me an example of the doors like at the.
- 17:55Speaker 2: Time, like when I first started, the first big look
- 17:58Speaker 2: I got was two out to Heather Hanes. She's at
- 18:04Speaker 2: where she now, you know, the companies changed names so much,
- 18:07Speaker 2: but at the time she was at v H one
- 18:09Speaker 2: and at I was. I was hot on Twitter. Everything
- 18:12Speaker 2: I said was funny and engaging and all that, whether
- 18:15Speaker 2: it was about music, dating, whatever. And I remember there
- 18:21Speaker 2: was a there was a shoot coming up. They were

- 18:42Speaker 2: A virgeon and a little more than virgin than I
- 18:44Speaker 2: would say she was. She was solidified at this point.
- 18:47Speaker 2: It was me Cardi b taxed on I think like
- 18:50Speaker 2: a few other people was on the shoot, but like
- 18:52Speaker 2: we would have made three. It was the clips that
- 18:54Speaker 2: they were pushing. She put me on that. I ain't
- 18:57Speaker 2: get no money, but it helped. Yeah, I'm talking, I
- 19:01Speaker 2: promise you. Right after that, my brother tell you. Right
- 19:05Speaker 2: after that, I could go to the corner store and
- 19:07Speaker 2: get a you know, get an egg and cheese sandwhich
- 19:11Speaker 2: on credit, on credit, not even on credit. Just because
- 19:15Speaker 2: the girl that the girl that was on the front,
- 19:16Speaker 2: she was a little younger, so she thought I was
- 19:18Speaker 2: famous because I was.
- 19:20Speaker 3: I did something would call it b oh my god.
- 19:22Speaker 4: So my egg and cheese, it was like on the house,

- 19:26Speaker 6: I was like, got it, go ahead, you know, Caudy,
- 19:29Speaker 6: you bring Cardy by, like yeah, never met her, like
- 19:34Speaker 6: I think we passed each other like we passed each other,
- 19:37Speaker 6: you know, going the set.
- 19:38Speaker 3: That was it. And then I was on.
- 19:41Speaker 2: You know, back in the day, there was the show
- 19:43Speaker 2: called Socials Decoded on what's the called what was the
- 19:48Speaker 2: site called Global griund, So it would be like just
- 19:51Speaker 2: a breakdown of that week, and Twitter celebrities would be
- 19:53Speaker 2: on there reading tweets and all that, and I was
- 19:55Speaker 2: on it like so often that people thought I worked
- 19:58Speaker 2: at Global Ground. So then I start again opportunities which
- 20:02Speaker 2: paid based on that. Wow, people thinking I was because
- 20:05Speaker 2: I was going to show that.
- 20:06Speaker 4: You were leveraging all day.
- 20:07Speaker 3: I wasn't even leveraging.
- 20:08Speaker 4: Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Like it was accidental. God said, quick robbing right, robbing? Right?

- 20:45Speaker 1: You want to serve me? Then?
- 20:51Speaker 4: How my grandmama, you're gonna get off cameras to do that?
- 20:54Speaker 1: Thanks?
- 20:55Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 20:56Speaker 4: This is the week of doing that.
- 20:58Speaker 3: Reach over.
- 20:59Speaker 4: I thank you. Awesome.
- 21:03Speaker 1: I still got to put a sandwich on here, right
- 21:05Speaker 1: you put it to the side right there.
- 21:08Speaker 4: I'm not gonna eat that much oatmeal. I I don't
- 21:12Speaker 4: like oatmeal.
- 21:15Speaker 1: To jaredy Katie, is he messing up the shot when
- 21:17Speaker 1: he does this? He totally is right, going right in
- 21:20Speaker 1: front of the cameras mouse for not acting like a mouse.
- 21:25Speaker 3: She now looked. Now he go to crazy part.

- 21:34Speaker 4: Okay, go ahead, but I was gonna go without.
- 21:36Speaker 2: Okay, all right, yeah, Now this is the thing. If
- 21:41Speaker 2: it was just peanut butter and jelly, I don't know,
- 21:43Speaker 2: some people more like jelly, more like peanut butter. But
- 21:46Speaker 2: we already know where we're going, right, we know we
- 21:48Speaker 2: want the bananas. I'm watching you right, make a seat hold,
- 21:54Speaker 2: hold the bananas together.
- 21:56Speaker 3: So what we do and.
- 21:58Speaker 2: Typically, you know, because we on TV, I'm you know,
- 22:01Speaker 2: I'm moving a little at of order because I be
- 22:03Speaker 2: really thinking I'm a fake chef. So usually would have
- 22:05Speaker 2: prepped the bananas first, chop them up how I wanted,
- 22:08Speaker 2: you know, but oh.
- 22:09Speaker 4: We only have like plastic. Knize good less we're gonna work.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Listen, So you put peanut butter on both sides, sizes.
- 22:17Speaker 3: You got to hold it in place.
- 22:18Speaker 4: Oh my god, I don't know.
- 22:21Speaker 1: I've never I assure you guys, I have never had
- 22:25Speaker 1: a peanut butter and banana sandwich.

- 22:29Speaker 2: living a dangerous lifestyle. This is really good bread.
- 22:32Speaker 1: By the way, mouse, you do know that Eating while
- 22:34Speaker 1: Broke is doing a cookbook with a combination of all
- 22:36Speaker 1: our broke dishes, So your dish will be in the
- 22:39Speaker 1: in the cook I'm gonna put it right there with
- 22:42Speaker 1: the syrup sandwiches.
- 22:43Speaker 2: That's crazy because we.
- 22:44Speaker 1: Start with the brokers to the least broke fee.
- 22:48Speaker 2: Putting this next to syrup sandwiches disrespectful to you know
- 22:51Speaker 2: the legacy of banana sandwiches. You know, a peanut butter,
- 22:55Speaker 2: now the legacy.
- 22:56Speaker 4: I'm watching nothing but peanut butter.
- 22:58Speaker 1: I feel like I'm gonna need like a tall glass,
- 23:00Speaker 1: some water and gatorad.
- 23:01Speaker 3: I'm gonna tell you this right.
- 23:02Speaker 2: So, this is why peanut butter and banana sandwich is

- 23:32Speaker 3: Foom right there.
- 23:33Speaker 4: Rains yep. Coins, that's the best way, right, banana coins.
- 23:38Speaker 2: I get the good spacing because you don't want to
- 23:41Speaker 2: be all smushed and come out the sandwich when you
- 23:43Speaker 2: take your bite.
- 23:45Speaker 4: Okay, So he puts six coins on his bread.
- 23:48Speaker 3: Bow right there, got a little extra, got.
- 23:50Speaker 4: A little extra banana joint.

- 26:34Speaker 1: out because it's so sticky in my mouth.
- 26:37Speaker 4: I don't know if it's because you take down way

- 31:31Speaker 2: I'm like, I'm the best host in New York City.
- 31:34Speaker 1: Do you think that you're doing stand up prior helped
- 31:36Speaker 1: in your hosting?
- 31:37Speaker 3: Definitely?
- 31:38Speaker 2: Definitely, because I know how to find those pockets, where
- 31:40Speaker 2: to you know, utilize the music and where to utilize
- 31:43Speaker 2: the funny.
- 31:44Speaker 1: Okay, and then I just have another question when it
- 31:47Speaker 1: comes to that stand up when you're doing the stand up, well,
- 31:52Speaker 1: now that you're doing hosting, doesn't make you have a
- 31:54Speaker 1: hunger for doing stand up?
- 31:57Speaker 3: Yeah? Yeah, I mean.
- 32:00Speaker 1: Because hosting and stand up kind of they're like cousins.
- 32:03Speaker 2: Their cousins their first Definitely first.
- 32:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:09Speaker 3: I think my the only.
- 32:11Speaker 2: Thing I don't envy about comedians they have to actually perform.
- 32:16Speaker 3: I don't have to perform. I'm walking out with me.
- 32:20Speaker 2: Well, I don't have to write nothing.
- 32:21Speaker 4: Okay, Yeah, I was gonna say, I was going to
- 32:23Speaker 4: say I don't.
- 32:24Speaker 2: Have to worry about what room I'm in When you
- 32:27Speaker 2: booked me to do what you want me to do,
- 32:30Speaker 2: you know why, and you know what's showing up, and
- 32:33Speaker 2: I don't have to be like, oh, well, like this
- 32:35Speaker 2: joke and then that message up to next because I
- 32:37Speaker 2: got so much other stuff to go over.
- 32:39Speaker 1: Yeah I was. I was going to say the difference
- 32:41Speaker 1: would be the writing, Like they're they're constantly you know,
- 32:44Speaker 1: they have to come up with new materials and then
- 32:46Speaker 1: what practice a thousand times before they get the right
- 32:49Speaker 1: timing on it. So out of all the things that
- 32:53Speaker 1: you do from the podcasting to the on stage, if
- 32:59Speaker 1: you had to choose, betwe mean the two, choose between
- 33:05Speaker 1: the two, that's tough.
- 33:10Speaker 2: It's like having twins because they're like both such you know,
- 33:16Speaker 2: huge fast as they're equal faster I want.
- 33:18Speaker 1: What I do, well, I guess because they both represent
- 33:21Speaker 1: your personality.
- 33:22Speaker 4: They're like just two different mics, right.
- 33:23Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 33:23Speaker 2: But I think if I had, I mean, you know,
- 33:25Speaker 2: gun might had had.
- 33:26Speaker 1: To choose on stage, you would choose on stage over podcasting.
- 33:30Speaker 4: Because I could do that on stage, Oh you could,
- 33:33Speaker 4: Like I.
- 33:34Speaker 3: Could do it. I could.
- 33:34Speaker 2: I could run a whole live.
- 33:36Speaker 4: The only thing with podcasting though it's like usually nationally
- 33:38Speaker 4: syndicated and all that's good. That's good on stage, just
- 33:42Speaker 4: like we would only see mouse.
- 33:43Speaker 2: It's something about it's something about those people and energy
- 33:48Speaker 2: and so and you know, I we laugh with joke,
- 33:52Speaker 2: you know, we we we do all the you know,
- 33:54Speaker 2: the posture and I'm the best and this and that,
- 33:56Speaker 2: you know, and I'm when I say, I'm talking about
- 33:58Speaker 2: you know, our peers and everyone. But man, what we
- 34:01Speaker 2: do is truly a service. And that's the way I
- 34:03Speaker 2: look at it. What I do is truly a service to.
- 34:05Speaker 3: Our people, you know what I mean going into these
- 34:07Speaker 3: very black spaces.
- 34:09Speaker 2: Sometimes we're going in the cities who.
- 34:10Speaker 3: Haven't seen or haven't had an opportunity to see a black.
- 34:12Speaker 2: Show affordable to them for a very long time. And
- 34:17Speaker 2: I get to come out there and make the next
- 34:20Speaker 2: four hours pure bliss. Make it worth it, you know
- 34:23Speaker 2: what I mean. I think about it. When I think
- 34:25Speaker 2: about a live event, I think about everything that went
- 34:27Speaker 2: into it. Right, So you think about you you pay,
- 34:30Speaker 2: you buy a ticket to come see me, whether it's
- 34:33Speaker 2: the guy next door, whether it's trap karaoke, whatever I'm
- 34:35Speaker 2: doing that tink it might be fifty dollars. Then you
- 34:38Speaker 2: gotta go get the outfit easily you add like two
- 34:41Speaker 2: hundred fifty. Now now you got to, you know, get
- 34:45Speaker 2: a babysit. If you got kids, never hunted down, you
- 34:49Speaker 2: might take it. You might be taking somebody else, somebody
- 34:51Speaker 2: taking you out hundred and fifty. You might en this
- 34:55Speaker 2: fifty dollars ticket might end up running you close to
- 34:57Speaker 2: six seven hundred dollars.
- 34:58Speaker 3: Yeah, I gotta make it worth it.
- 35:00Speaker 2: Yeah, and I love being able to do that.
- 35:03Speaker 1: I like your thought process in it too. Instead of
- 35:05Speaker 1: thinking about just the fifty dollars, you're thinking about their
- 35:07Speaker 1: whole what they're going to put into it.
- 35:10Speaker 2: You got to think about I tell people that track
- 35:12Speaker 2: care real good time, Like it took you seven days
- 35:14Speaker 2: to get here.
- 35:16Speaker 3: You had to survive seven days just to get to
- 35:18Speaker 3: this name. Make it worth it. So that means whoever
- 35:21Speaker 3: got on your.
- 35:21Speaker 2: Nerves work at any time. You could have quit on
- 35:26Speaker 2: this moment, anytime you could have allowed anything to be like,
- 35:30Speaker 2: I'm not gone, but you came out. I gotta make
- 35:33Speaker 2: it worth it.
- 35:33Speaker 4: I like that.
- 35:35Speaker 2: You don't get that with podcasting, you know you don't. Yeah,
- 35:37Speaker 2: And I love podcasting for a whole slow other reasons.
- 35:41Speaker 2: But you don't get that. You don't get that immediate gratificate.
- 35:44Speaker 2: I get to see it right here.
- 35:46Speaker 1: You. Uh do you look forward to or have you
- 35:49Speaker 1: done the podcasting in front of a live audience? Yeah?
- 35:51Speaker 2: Yeah, we did a lot of live shows a Guys
- 35:53Speaker 2: next Door We've done going on three or four. I
- 35:56Speaker 2: think we skipped the pandemic.
- 35:57Speaker 3: Yeh.
- 35:57Speaker 2: But yeah, but then when my other podcast we did
- 36:00Speaker 2: every year three years.
- 36:02Speaker 1: And do you coordinate it or do you or someone
- 36:05Speaker 1: else on your So I have never taped in front
- 36:09Speaker 1: of a live audience, and I would love to do that.
- 36:13Speaker 1: I would love to. Uh, Dolly Dolly Dolly is the
- 36:18Speaker 1: reason Big Gang, Big Gang, Dolly Dolly be like slow down, Colleen,
- 36:24Speaker 1: come on Snow.
- 36:27Speaker 3: Sometimes you gotta jump out there and do it.
- 36:29Speaker 1: That's how I feel. But I also, you know, with
- 36:31Speaker 1: our show, it gets a little tricky because we have
- 36:34Speaker 1: talent and we don't surprise, surprise, we don't pay talent to.
- 36:37Speaker 4: Be on our show.
- 36:38Speaker 1: So I always get no, but yeah, we don't pay talent,
- 36:44Speaker 1: and then I always worry, like, you know, we're an
- 36:46Speaker 1: interview series, you know, and you have talent cooking this
- 36:49Speaker 1: broke thish and you know, talent may be like, you know,
- 36:51Speaker 1: we're doing this in front of a live show. Yeah,
- 36:56Speaker 1: so I think my show may be a little tricky.
- 36:58Speaker 1: I may have to take a couple of the homies
- 37:00Speaker 1: and be like you're doing this team you know. But yeah,
- 37:03Speaker 1: I think it would be really cool to do a
- 37:05Speaker 1: live show and then like guests would be like eating
- 37:07Speaker 1: the the same dish. That would be kind of fun,
- 37:10Speaker 1: Like we're gonna we're gonna explore brokeness together.
- 37:13Speaker 2: Yeah, everybody, let's be broke together.
- 37:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I secretly would love to, but I think I
- 37:17Speaker 1: have a long ways to go. I have, like, I
- 37:20Speaker 1: love how you embrace social media, which most of the
- 37:22Speaker 1: podcasters do.
- 37:24Speaker 4: I am absolute.
- 37:26Speaker 1: Hater of social Like when I say social is, like, no,
- 37:30Speaker 1: I get it terrible. If it was, well, no on Twitter,
- 37:35Speaker 1: yeah you.
- 37:37Speaker 3: Like making jokes or whatever.
- 37:38Speaker 2: But if I didn't have if this wasn't my line
- 37:41Speaker 2: of work, I would have no Instagram at all.
- 37:43Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, I feel the same. But now I'm like
- 37:46Speaker 1: forced into this join the rest of the world, you know.
- 37:50Speaker 1: And it's funny because a lot of my friends are influencers. Yeah,
- 37:54Speaker 1: and they're like, if you see the amount of work
- 37:56Speaker 1: that goes into it. Their lives are like a full
- 37:59Speaker 1: time production production job, and they let like have an
- 38:03Speaker 1: Like one of my friends is like, if you want
- 38:05Speaker 1: to hang out with me?
- 38:06Speaker 4: The answers no, If you want to work out, I'm
- 38:09Speaker 4: here for it.
- 38:10Speaker 1: But other than that, I'm shooting right, And they're just influenced.
- 38:13Speaker 1: They're just influencers, but they're working their ass off twenty
- 38:17Speaker 1: four seven and just watching their lives and watching the
- 38:19Speaker 1: pressure they're under. They make good money, but that's that's
- 38:23Speaker 1: a lot. Like I'll never look at an influencer and
- 38:25Speaker 1: think it's easy, right right, right, right, So you've done
- 38:28Speaker 1: the taping in front of an audience, so kind of
- 38:31Speaker 1: back to you. If you're doing your tapings in front
- 38:34Speaker 1: of an audience, then you still wouldn't choose podcasting. It
- 38:39Speaker 1: doesn't give you the same high, and you don't.
- 38:41Speaker 2: Get that same high, right, Like, we're right here and
- 38:44Speaker 2: you know, thousands a million people want to hit this
- 38:47Speaker 2: and watch this, but it's just me and you here,
- 38:50Speaker 2: and I love that. I love I love talking to
- 38:53Speaker 2: people for a living. I love that, I love, you know,
- 38:56Speaker 2: having conversations.
- 38:59Speaker 3: But there's something up about.
- 39:01Speaker 2: You know, somebody introduce me strong and I walk out
- 39:07Speaker 2: and people.
- 39:09Speaker 3: At this point in my.
- 39:10Speaker 4: Career, they get excited raw.
- 39:15Speaker 2: Or you know, doing it for some years, you get
- 39:18Speaker 2: humbled and you come out there and they like and
- 39:21Speaker 2: then I get to show you why the next time
- 39:23Speaker 2: I show up, you're gonna be going crazy.
- 39:25Speaker 3: So I love that.
- 39:27Speaker 2: I get that instagramhication right then and there, and then
- 39:30Speaker 2: I get to fix.
- 39:30Speaker 3: It on the fly.
- 39:31Speaker 2: You mess up in podcasting, you're not you can edit
- 39:35Speaker 2: or you might not even know just episode come out.
- 39:38Speaker 2: Yeah you might not know that.
- 39:55Speaker 1: I love that term, like real life chin check.
- 39:58Speaker 3: Let somebody put their knuckle on.
- 40:00Speaker 1: No, well, yeah you can talk about that too, But
- 40:03Speaker 1: I'm chin checked. It's like when you've like you you
- 40:07Speaker 1: had a nice dose of humble pie, like every but
- 40:10Speaker 1: I'm saying, what was the last time and what was
- 40:12Speaker 1: that time? Like, what was the time where you were.
- 40:14Speaker 3: Like, ooh, it's so funny.
- 40:16Speaker 2: I said it earlier when we were talking about the
- 40:18Speaker 2: last episode me and Mac and Ryan Differ got next Door.
- 40:23Speaker 2: It's just about you know, us discussing and being vulnerable
- 40:26Speaker 2: and discussing feeling like we get overlooked and I know
- 40:30Speaker 2: people was listening at first, like you host everything, and
- 40:34Speaker 2: you're doing this, and you're hosting these big events, mac
- 40:37Speaker 2: you're a successful actor and Grammy nominated singer.
- 40:41Speaker 3: What you mean y'all getting looked over?
- 40:43Speaker 2: We know the opportunities we want, and we know what
- 40:46Speaker 2: we're out here fighting for, and we know exactly when
- 40:50Speaker 2: somebody or there's an opportunity that is not afforded or
- 40:53Speaker 2: allotted to us. So I get chin checked daily. I
- 40:57Speaker 2: feel like I am the I feel like in this
- 41:02Speaker 2: media space, I am like the black sheet. Like I
- 41:05Speaker 2: feel like I'm more or less the people's shit. Like
- 41:09Speaker 2: the people fuck with me, them.
- 41:12Speaker 4: Productions, production, these.
- 41:14Speaker 3: Companies is not fucking with me.
- 41:16Speaker 2: So you know, I watched somebody who I watched personalities
- 41:20Speaker 2: with gimmicks, you know what I mean, get opportunities where
- 41:23Speaker 2: it's like, I don't got no gimmick give me because
- 41:26Speaker 2: I speak well to people, and I get people to
- 41:28Speaker 2: tell their story that you know, and talk about the
- 41:30Speaker 2: things they would never talk about. I'm somebody who you know,
- 41:34Speaker 2: I get the people going. Whatever I say, engage the people.
- 41:37Speaker 2: But like I said, I'm you know, like I said,
- 41:42Speaker 2: I feel like I'm the people shit.
- 41:44Speaker 3: And these companies ain't really biting.
- 41:46Speaker 1: It's so funny you say that because I just shot
- 41:48Speaker 1: with Orlando. Shout out to Orlando Brown, the actor.
- 41:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 41:51Speaker 4: And of course, let me tell you something.
- 41:54Speaker 1: I took my toddler on a plane and flew to
- 41:57Speaker 1: Texas in like less than twenty four hours and got
- 41:59Speaker 1: the back got back some shout out to my toddler
- 42:01Speaker 1: for being the most gangster plane passenger of all time.
- 42:05Speaker 1: She's been on way too many planes. But one of
- 42:09Speaker 1: the things that I thought was interesting that Orlando had
- 42:12Speaker 1: said that. One of my questions to him was kind
- 42:15Speaker 1: of like, you know, do you feel like the industry
- 42:18Speaker 1: pushed you out? Now he's a child star. He's not
- 42:20Speaker 1: like us, you know, he's you know, his perspectives different. Yeah.
- 42:26Speaker 1: But one of the things it's funny to hear you say,
- 42:29Speaker 1: you know what you just said. But his perspective is
- 42:33Speaker 1: it's a job, and if the job, if there's no
- 42:37Speaker 1: openings at the job, or the job is closed, then
- 42:40Speaker 1: that's just it. You go in, you do your job,
- 42:42Speaker 1: and then you leave. Cause it wasn't like you're being
- 42:44Speaker 1: passed up. It's just like it's a job. You punched
- 42:47Speaker 1: the clock. You know, if you work for McDonald's, so
- 42:49Speaker 1: it's kind of interesting to hear you say it from
- 42:51Speaker 1: your perspective, which is how I did look at it
- 42:54Speaker 1: for a long time, like, you know, well, I don't
- 42:56Speaker 1: feel like I'm passed up because I'm a baby.
- 42:59Speaker 4: I'm just thankful I have opportunity.
- 43:01Speaker 1: But I'm just saying, like, it's interesting that Harry his
- 43:04Speaker 1: side of how he views it, and then you say
- 43:06Speaker 1: passed up, but he's looking at it like, no, it's
- 43:08Speaker 1: not passed up.
- 43:08Speaker 2: It's justos. You know, it's two different lanes, you know
- 43:11Speaker 2: what I mean.
- 43:12Speaker 1: And well, if you're saying passed up.
- 43:15Speaker 2: Well yeah, because I've never been an actor. I've only
- 43:20Speaker 2: done this and I know that if you put me
- 43:24Speaker 2: against who you put on this job, who's gonna win
- 43:27Speaker 2: every time? Me? I don't even get in there to compete.
- 43:33Speaker 2: So now I got to create every opportunity from scratch.
- 43:37Speaker 2: And I love this space. And God has blessed me
- 43:39Speaker 2: that everything I put my hand to turns the gold.
- 43:42Speaker 3: The man that gets tired.
- 43:44Speaker 2: And sometimes you just want a producer, Yeah, sometimes you
- 43:48Speaker 2: want a producer and the DP and have them deal
- 43:52Speaker 2: with that. And I'm just talent and I should instead
- 43:54Speaker 2: of having to come all right, well, I like this idea,
- 43:57Speaker 2: and I'm gonna do this show. And if I do
- 43:59Speaker 2: this show to get this looking at, I do something
- 44:01Speaker 2: that get tired, especially when I'm looking up and I'm
- 44:04Speaker 2: seeing people that everybody knows I'm better than. How am
- 44:08Speaker 2: I not getting that opportunity? Oh this person just got
- 44:12Speaker 2: you know what I mean? Or this person got that
- 44:14Speaker 2: you know? Every time you gotta sell me personally, every
- 44:17Speaker 2: time I celebrate one of my peers wins, it's just
- 44:23Speaker 2: sort of like a chin check, because it's like I
- 44:26Speaker 2: celebrate all my peers wins, the peers ahead of me,
- 44:28Speaker 2: peers belying behind me, pears.
- 44:30Speaker 3: Loud, or I celebrate everybody win. If you, my people,
- 44:32Speaker 3: I love you.
- 44:32Speaker 2: Want reposting, Yeah, that's what we need. But then there's
- 44:36Speaker 2: a chin check with that. And I don't know if
- 44:38Speaker 2: a lot of people want to be honest and tell
- 44:40Speaker 2: the truth about that.
- 44:41Speaker 1: I was gonna say that that's a lot of honesty, though,
- 44:43Speaker 1: that's a lot of vulnerability to be.
- 44:45Speaker 2: Honest, right like you, my people. If this picked by CBS,
- 44:52Speaker 2: I'm posting, oh god, it on CBS is crazy, tire up,
- 44:57Speaker 2: go crazy. I don't know what CBS, I ain't ABC.
- 45:04Speaker 2: I feel like going back home to you know, I
- 45:07Speaker 2: gotta pack this bag and hop on this plane and
- 45:11Speaker 2: go jump around on stage for the next four hours,
- 45:14Speaker 2: you know what I mean.
- 45:15Speaker 1: But I feel like the entertainment industry is kind of
- 45:17Speaker 1: like a combination between luck, talent, right place, right time,
- 45:22Speaker 1: and relationships.
- 45:24Speaker 4: Like it's it's all the Yeah, it's a lot.
- 45:26Speaker 2: Of that last one.
- 45:28Speaker 1: Well, the relationships. Let me tell you something. I'll be honest.
- 45:32Speaker 1: I would shout out to Dolly big.
- 45:35Speaker 5: Dollar Dolly probably guess like four shoutouts.
- 45:38Speaker 4: A year for me.
- 45:39Speaker 1: But no, I would not even have eating while broke
- 45:43Speaker 1: if it wasn't for my relationship with Dolly. I mean,
- 45:45Speaker 1: it was coincidental how everything fell into place. But like you,
- 45:50Speaker 1: I'm the type that's like, I have this idea, you know,
- 45:54Speaker 1: I gotta piece it together and pull it together. And
- 45:57Speaker 1: I don't always have the full plan. I just know
- 46:00Speaker 1: if I take a baby step every week in the
- 46:03Speaker 1: right direction, things fall into place.
- 46:05Speaker 4: I think God's just.
- 46:06Speaker 1: Like you know what, yeah, uh, it's yeah, let's throw
- 46:10Speaker 1: her bone. It's time. She struggled enough. But yeah, but
- 46:14Speaker 1: what's your long play? I know, my long play is
- 46:17Speaker 1: like I would love to do like I didn't even
- 46:20Speaker 1: know I liked interviewing or doing this type of work.
- 46:23Speaker 1: It was kind of coincidental. I just loved my concept
- 46:26Speaker 1: of beating while broke. So my long term play would
- 46:28Speaker 1: be like I would love to be like.
- 46:29Speaker 4: A Trevor Noah level.
- 46:31Speaker 1: I'm a huge fan of his, but I would love
- 46:34Speaker 1: to do that.
- 46:35Speaker 4: Am I anywhere close to that?
- 46:36Speaker 1: Now?
- 46:37Speaker 2: Says who? That's the thing you got to accept, says
- 46:39Speaker 2: who is you?
- 46:41Speaker 1: Remember how you were just talking about relationships and.
- 46:43Speaker 2: The Trevor the day before Trevano became TREVANOA the Trevano
- 46:49Speaker 2: we're looking at.
- 46:50Speaker 3: He know that that was.
- 46:52Speaker 4: No but he was working at it for a while.
- 46:54Speaker 2: What I mean.
- 46:56Speaker 3: Working.
- 46:57Speaker 2: What I've learned is that don't matter how long you're
- 46:59Speaker 2: working at as long as you go, it don't matter.
- 47:02Speaker 2: It don't a lot of people look at me and
- 47:04Speaker 2: be like, yo, came a quick. That year and a
- 47:08Speaker 2: half to some people is quick to me. That year
- 47:11Speaker 2: and a half of sitting on that couch eating this going.
- 47:15Speaker 2: You know, it was so bad. It was so bad.
- 47:19Speaker 2: This is when like you know, Uber was king, and
- 47:22Speaker 2: you know there wasn't I don't even think Lyft was
- 47:23Speaker 2: out yet.
- 47:24Speaker 3: It was just Uber.
- 47:25Speaker 2: And I remember I had to time the light rail,
- 47:30Speaker 2: which is the train that takes you from you know,
- 47:32Speaker 2: the path train which takes you which is the train
- 47:35Speaker 2: that takes from New York to Jersey.
- 47:36Speaker 3: Then you'd have to get a light rail. I didn't
- 47:37Speaker 3: have no money for Uber.
- 47:39Speaker 2: So that's how I got really indoctrinated in the podcast
- 47:43Speaker 2: and then learning things, and you know, just learning certain
- 47:47Speaker 2: things about podcasting, specifically because I knew I had an
- 47:51Speaker 2: hour in one minute walk from the Journal from Journal.
- 47:55Speaker 3: Square to my brother's house.
- 47:57Speaker 2: Because I would get I would always get I would
- 47:59Speaker 2: always get back to Jersey too late to get the light.
- 48:02Speaker 3: Reil, so I would have to walk because I ain't
- 48:04Speaker 3: have no money for no.
- 48:05Speaker 1: Where you would walk in I would walk. And then
- 48:07Speaker 1: what were you doing on those walks? Listening to podcasts,
- 48:09Speaker 1: listening to podcasts wow.
- 48:11Speaker 3: Listening to the podcasts, listening to the audio books, listen
- 48:14Speaker 3: to music.
- 48:15Speaker 1: So did you put together the Guys next Door?
- 48:17Speaker 2: Or was it so the guy next door is actually
- 48:21Speaker 2: super interesting? So the Guys next Door came because whenever me,
- 48:25Speaker 2: Mac and Ryan would be outside, we'd have these conversations
- 48:29Speaker 2: that would like bring.
- 48:30Speaker 3: Everybody in, like me and Mac and Ryan or whoever.
- 48:33Speaker 2: We we'd be having our conversation and then like one
- 48:36Speaker 2: person come over, like two people.
- 48:38Speaker 3: You come next, thing, you know, everybody?
- 48:39Speaker 2: No one.
- 48:40Speaker 3: I can't believe it.
- 48:41Speaker 4: Why like that?
- 48:42Speaker 3: Oh I didn't think of that.
- 48:43Speaker 2: It like that, So I remember, I don't know it
- 48:47Speaker 2: was Ryan I credited to Ryan Max might get mad.
- 48:50Speaker 3: By credit to Ryan, Ryan was like, yo, we should
- 48:53Speaker 3: do a podcast. And I remember sitting there at the table.
- 48:55Speaker 2: I just kind of brush it off because like, I'm
- 48:57Speaker 2: already doing the podcast, bro, and at the time we
- 49:00Speaker 2: had just uh, you know, one of I should have
- 49:05Speaker 2: mentioned this as a milestone if we go back to
- 49:09Speaker 2: when I discovered podcasts. In those first three podcasts, we're
- 49:12Speaker 2: all on loud Speaker Network, Rest in Peace, Combat Jack
- 49:15Speaker 2: shout out to Chris Moreau.
- 49:16Speaker 4: I noticed you always defend him, So that makes sense.
- 49:19Speaker 2: Oh yeah, Ogie Reggie as a fact, don't don't play
- 49:21Speaker 2: with him. If we wouldn't be saying doing this if
- 49:24Speaker 2: it wasn't for Ogie Reddy. No, I'm saying anybody get
- 49:27Speaker 2: mad if they wantn't kid, there'll be no black effect.
- 49:29Speaker 2: There'll be no, any of these other black podcast network
- 49:34Speaker 2: to be none if it wasn't for Ojie Regie loud
- 49:37Speaker 2: Speaker Network. So I say that because you know, listening
- 49:40Speaker 2: to all these back catalogs of the read and bringing
- 49:43Speaker 2: idiots and listen and listening to text and all of that,
- 49:48Speaker 2: I say, yo, I'm getting my podcast on. Get my
- 49:51Speaker 2: podcast on loud Speaker. He met with May his club
- 49:54Speaker 2: got on Love Speaking Network. So I was I was.
- 49:57Speaker 2: I was comfortable. I was like, I'm not I'm doing
- 50:00Speaker 2: in that. And then I ended up getting my first
- 50:02Speaker 2: ever industry job writing for TRL. So I was writing
- 50:06Speaker 2: for I was writing for TRL.
- 50:07Speaker 3: I was comfortable. I'm like, I'm making.
- 50:10Speaker 1: Money and you're the loud Speaker. Wasn't signing like an
- 50:12Speaker 1: exclusive because I know with us, well, at least for
- 50:14Speaker 1: my deal, I can't do I can't be a host
- 50:18Speaker 1: of another.
- 50:19Speaker 3: Show of like another cooking show.
- 50:21Speaker 4: I thought it was just another show period.
- 50:23Speaker 2: I look at you can't hold of another cooking show,
- 50:26Speaker 2: I don't think. But no, I was just comfortable. I'm saying,
- 50:29Speaker 2: I was just fine. When they sell us to another podcast,
- 50:31Speaker 2: I was like, people do that, you.
- 50:34Speaker 3: Can do more for the podcast.
- 50:35Speaker 4: That's what i'd be scared.
- 50:36Speaker 2: But then you've seen the birth of podcasting, right. You've
- 50:40Speaker 2: seen Crystal and Friend, who both have different podcasts, come
- 50:44Speaker 2: together and do insecurity for HBO.
- 50:46Speaker 3: And you've seen you know Schultz, you know shout out
- 50:50Speaker 3: the shows.
- 50:50Speaker 2: She Shultz, he has no Flagrant and he has Brandon
- 50:53Speaker 2: idiots like you see this. It's just because podcasting is
- 50:57Speaker 2: such a market space that you can do like TV, like,
- 51:01Speaker 2: you're not gonna tell me I can't do this and
- 51:04Speaker 2: then go over here and do this like boom, I'm
- 51:06Speaker 2: gonna do TV.
- 51:07Speaker 3: I'm gonna do move, I'm gonna do all this.
- 51:08Speaker 2: Yeah, sot so, Ryan and Matt came and Ryan said
- 51:13Speaker 2: at the table, I ain't say nothing about it. And
- 51:15Speaker 2: then they called me and was like, yo, really, you
- 51:18Speaker 2: know he us would come on board with this. I
- 51:21Speaker 2: was like, yeah, my brothers, let's do it. And then,
- 51:24Speaker 2: you know, at the time, we just had an idea
- 51:26Speaker 2: and I was like, give me. I can't work without
- 51:29Speaker 2: a name. That's just my thing. I can't work any
- 51:31Speaker 2: idea without a name. So I was like, just give
- 51:33Speaker 2: me a day or two, we'll figure out this name.
- 51:36Speaker 2: I was like, yo, goy next door, like you know,
- 51:38Speaker 2: I got the girl next door and we the guy
- 51:40Speaker 2: next door, you know what I mean, Not that there's
- 51:42Speaker 2: a pocket.
- 51:42Speaker 3: I was just like, in my mind, I was just
- 51:43Speaker 3: playing on that.
- 51:44Speaker 2: I was like, hey, like the guy next door, you
- 51:46Speaker 2: know what I mean.
- 51:47Speaker 3: And that was.
- 51:49Speaker 2: Twenty eighteen, and we released it in twenty nineteen and
- 51:54Speaker 2: I've been going ever since.
- 51:55Speaker 1: Yeah, do you feel like the pandemic impacted.
- 51:57Speaker 4: You at all?
- 51:59Speaker 3: Shut everything down?
- 52:00Speaker 4: But as a podcaster, you were already in it.
- 52:03Speaker 1: Oh, as a podcaster, wouldn't you say it impacted you
- 52:08Speaker 1: in a good way?
- 52:09Speaker 2: Yeah, because I was able to get better at speaking
- 52:13Speaker 2: to nobody but speaking to everybody at the.
- 52:15Speaker 3: Same time, you know what I mean.
- 52:16Speaker 2: Yeah, So, yeah, you had to figure it out. We're
- 52:20Speaker 2: going to just sit there, you know.
- 52:21Speaker 3: What I mean.
- 52:22Speaker 2: Over the pandemic, I was doing, you know, I had
- 52:24Speaker 2: came up with a news show. I was doing Quarantine
- 52:26Speaker 2: nightly every night, just to keep me busy. And it was,
- 52:28Speaker 2: you know, put some money in my pocket and got
- 52:30Speaker 2: people used to hearing me in a different space than
- 52:32Speaker 2: just talking about lifestyle and the culture. You know what
- 52:36Speaker 2: I mean, Like hearing me talk about these news topics
- 52:38Speaker 2: because at the end of the day you asked me
- 52:39Speaker 2: what my end goal is.
- 52:40Speaker 3: The end goal is good Morning America. Oh that's the
- 52:43Speaker 3: end goal.
- 52:44Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, that's the good that's the end goal.
- 52:46Speaker 4: That's the end goal.
- 52:47Speaker 3: That's the end goal.
- 52:48Speaker 2: That's what I come outside every morning for to take
- 52:51Speaker 2: one step further to good Morning America.
- 52:54Speaker 3: That's the that's the end goal right there.
- 52:56Speaker 2: So like for you, yeah, so I just you know,
- 52:59Speaker 2: and it's not the place anybody, you know what I mean.
- 53:01Speaker 3: I want to be on there with Michael.
- 53:03Speaker 2: Straight hand and show people that there's the Michael straight
- 53:06Speaker 2: Hand and then there's Mount Joan and we coexist and
- 53:10Speaker 2: you know, you don't have to I don't got to
- 53:12Speaker 2: be him and he ain't got to be me, you
- 53:14Speaker 2: know what I mean, we got to get It gets
- 53:16Speaker 2: so weird how monolithic TV can make black people.
- 53:20Speaker 4: You know, you either got to be yeah suited or like.
- 53:25Speaker 2: Then you or you got to be here yo, there's
- 53:27Speaker 2: no in between, right and then you're trying to make
- 53:29Speaker 2: everyone be that thing. So you got you know, black
- 53:32Speaker 2: guys talk about isn't that lit?
- 53:35Speaker 3: Like what that's not truly?
- 53:37Speaker 2: My boy?
- 53:37Speaker 3: Like you? So be you so I could be me?
- 53:41Speaker 3: Oh yeah, good Morning America. That's a goal.
- 53:44Speaker 4: I like that goal, and I like how.
- 53:45Speaker 2: You and speak one of these sandwiches on Good Morning
- 53:48Speaker 2: America every morning.
- 53:50Speaker 3: Just keep me I mean grounded.
- 53:52Speaker 1: No, you won't know.
- 53:54Speaker 4: You won't know. You won't You said you haven't had that.
- 53:57Speaker 2: I really do that. This is the first time I
- 54:00Speaker 2: had a peanut butter and banana sandwich is two thy
- 54:02Speaker 2: and eighteen.
- 54:03Speaker 1: The question is when you leave this studio, are you
- 54:06Speaker 1: going to take one to go?
- 54:07Speaker 3: Yes? Okay, that long ass flight I.
- 54:10Speaker 5: Was on, we'll see.
- 54:12Speaker 3: Yes, longest longest flight was on no food nine.
- 54:16Speaker 4: They have food on there.
- 54:17Speaker 2: None I could eat from pescatarian, so I couldn't stuff
- 54:20Speaker 2: they have.
- 54:21Speaker 1: Oh okay, okay, so you you went from eating while
- 54:25Speaker 1: broke So now preferences. I noticed everyone that like, once
- 54:30Speaker 1: they get more successful, they are either vegan, vegetarian or prescotean.
- 54:35Speaker 1: They're like, yo, whatever meat we was eating.
- 54:37Speaker 2: Before the whatever got just won't get rid of it.
- 54:41Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I don't see. I don't see me switching up.
- 54:45Speaker 1: The only thing that I will say I guess I'm
- 54:48Speaker 1: slowly changing is I got rid of red meat.
- 54:51Speaker 3: Oh yeah, red meat.
- 54:52Speaker 4: I don't do red meat at all.
- 54:53Speaker 3: Meat was going, Yeah, I have me eating pork since
- 54:57Speaker 3: two thousand and seven.
- 54:58Speaker 4: See, I'm not doing that. You stick, I'm gonna stick
- 55:00Speaker 4: with the pork.
- 55:01Speaker 3: I'm sorry.
- 55:02Speaker 4: I'm all about the white meat. Okay, well.
- 55:07Speaker 1: That sounded terrible. I like dark meat, but I'm just saying, like,
- 55:14Speaker 1: no red meat. That came out totally terrible.
- 55:21Speaker 4: Stop mouse come on.
- 55:25Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that's crazy. So I have to know, So
- 55:28Speaker 1: how did Black Effect get involved since we're on the
- 55:30Speaker 1: same Yeah.
- 55:31Speaker 2: Black Effect got involved in Charlemagne since the day he's
- 55:36Speaker 2: you know, showed up and been present in my life.
- 55:39Speaker 4: When did he show up in your life?
- 55:43Speaker 3: I did tax Season.
- 55:45Speaker 2: I did an episode of tax Season and uh, it
- 55:49Speaker 2: was so crazy. I did the episode tax Season and
- 55:52Speaker 2: Charlomagne had which she shows you how old like.
- 55:57Speaker 3: Even though he was on Twitter, niggas be old.
- 56:00Speaker 2: So he could have easy just typed in mouse Jones
- 56:04Speaker 2: and he would have found it. But he tight. He
- 56:06Speaker 2: had said something like your shout to the young brother
- 56:08Speaker 2: mouse Jones on on you know who was just on
- 56:11Speaker 2: the Taxi and podcast. I don't know his at name,
- 56:13Speaker 2: but you know, shout out to him.
- 56:15Speaker 3: He got it.
- 56:15Speaker 2: But he has a go ahead on the shoulder. I
- 56:18Speaker 2: promise you, and my brother tell you. I was literally
- 56:21Speaker 2: sitting on his couch eating a peanut butter and banana
- 56:25Speaker 2: sandwich and oatmeal, and my phone just started going crazy.
- 56:33Speaker 2: I'll be ignoring my ship because you know, I like,
- 56:35Speaker 2: I'm not somebody that's ran by my phone. I run
- 56:37Speaker 2: my phone. So I looked seeing and I was like,
- 56:40Speaker 2: in my mind, I'm like, oh, it's price whatever.
- 56:42Speaker 3: I tweeted early because that was lappening.
- 56:44Speaker 2: I tweet some ship and then you know, people react,
- 56:47Speaker 2: so I'm like, what goes again?
- 56:50Speaker 3: I'm watching it. I said, I'm like, damn, I ain't
- 56:53Speaker 3: even taking up for crazy today.
- 56:54Speaker 4: And you're eating this peanut butter eating all right, go on, let.
- 56:57Speaker 3: Me open it, eat it.
- 57:00Speaker 2: And it's all my friends and all my supporters tagging
- 57:05Speaker 2: Charlotte made like his name mouse Jones and put his
- 57:08Speaker 2: name his name Mouse Jones. So he followed me. And
- 57:13Speaker 2: then I want to say, for like a year and
- 57:15Speaker 2: a half, I was in his d MS. I was
- 57:17Speaker 2: in this I was in this Twitter dms like, yo,
- 57:19Speaker 2: just give me an opportunity. We gotta give me an opportunity.
- 57:22Speaker 4: Was he responding or no?
- 57:23Speaker 2: I mean, when he opened this dor he got a
- 57:24Speaker 2: million followers.
- 57:25Speaker 4: Like, but but I'm just saying you.
- 57:30Speaker 2: Will respond, He'd be like, all I got you, all right,
- 57:33Speaker 2: I got you. I'm also not a very good follow
- 57:37Speaker 2: up person, so that was like the most tenacious I've
- 57:39Speaker 2: ever been.
- 57:40Speaker 3: I'm just like, you give me, give me. I'm telling you.
- 57:43Speaker 2: I'm like, you ain't gonna pay me. I'll show up
- 57:46Speaker 2: every day at the radio station to show me what
- 57:47Speaker 2: I do, tell me.
- 57:48Speaker 1: What I do that and so how so that was
- 57:51Speaker 1: what year that.
- 57:53Speaker 2: When that happened? Two thousand and what's happened? This had
- 57:59Speaker 2: to happen in two thousan sixteen.
- 58:01Speaker 1: You don't you don't think it's interesting that your brother
- 58:03Speaker 1: had said I could see you doing something like and
- 58:07Speaker 1: then you were at his house eating this peanut butter Sandwichman, charlotee,
- 58:11Speaker 1: what was his thought when that happened?
- 58:13Speaker 2: He's so like he's one of the most homopiple I
- 58:15Speaker 2: ever met, so like you'll never know, and he's on
- 58:17Speaker 2: super cool, so you'll never know, Like he doesn't get
- 58:19Speaker 2: excited except for like us, like the people he loved,
- 58:23Speaker 2: so you know, he probably he played it cool. He
- 58:26Speaker 2: was like I ain't you know what I mean? But
- 58:28Speaker 2: also I played it. I played it super cool too,
- 58:31Speaker 2: Like in my in my mind, I was like, in
- 58:33Speaker 2: my mind, you know, if you would have asked me
- 58:36Speaker 2: three days after that, you would have asked me one
- 58:39Speaker 2: of my minds, I was like Charlemagne following me on
- 58:41Speaker 2: Twitter saying saying, I get it, you know what I mean.
- 58:44Speaker 2: But just looking at that back then, it was like
- 58:48Speaker 2: a right. That was a small piece of the puzzle
- 58:49Speaker 2: because me and Charlomae don't even work together until fast
- 58:55Speaker 2: forward that's two thaty sixteen. In my mind, it it
- 58:59Speaker 2: seems like fever because I had to live through it.
- 59:00Speaker 2: But when you look at the time, I wasn't that long.
- 59:02Speaker 2: But that happens twenty sixteen. I'm doing BT this, after
- 59:08Speaker 2: my Tier this, after I write for Tarrell, I go
- 59:10Speaker 2: to I go at the time I got to show
- 59:12Speaker 2: on BT, I got show on Complex.
- 59:13Speaker 3: I got two shows on BT, and I got shown Complex.
- 59:17Speaker 2: I go do the b the BT Awards Special, which
- 59:23Speaker 2: is like I'm like, well me, like, I watched this,
- 59:28Speaker 2: now I'm doing it. I've been watching it the b
- 59:30Speaker 2: et No I was just a talking head, and I
- 59:33Speaker 2: was like, I've been watching this since it came out,
- 59:36Speaker 2: but like, okay, cool, I seen it, but I didn't
- 59:40Speaker 2: think nothing of it. I seen on the call sheet
- 59:44Speaker 2: that me and Charlemagne was turning over rooms, so like
- 59:47Speaker 2: my green room was mine until I was done shooting
- 59:49Speaker 2: in his with his. I ain't think none of it.
- 59:52Speaker 2: Going there do I do? Everybody love it? I come
- 59:56Speaker 2: out Charlemagne in the room, like, oh my is my brother?
- 59:59Speaker 3: You know how you do? What's up?
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: Like?
- 1:00:01Speaker 3: What up?
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: I've actually never met him in person? Never never, Well,
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: I'm going to the black so you see him.
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: Yeah, he's gonna be super personable. So he dashed me up.
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: You know, you got waxing there, hulking figure. I'm like,
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: you know, shout out to the whole team back then,
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: you know, Page and all them, And I'm like, uh cool,
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: you know we dap each other up. He's like that's
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: how cool he is? Like this is how this is how.
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: Real of a nigga? Charla mean? Is dash me up? Now?
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: I'm not about to ask you nothing.
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: I've been in your DMS.
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: I already feel away. I ain't saying nothing.
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: He said, yo, what you do?
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: Like dash me?
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: I'll be like, hey, what you're doing them all. I
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: ain't doing ship, Like, what's up? He was like, you
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: don't do breaking idiots. In my mind, I'm like, this
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: is what I need.
- 1:00:48Speaker 4: And you have poker face or.
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: You smile poker face, poker face, I'm a I'm a
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: big no.
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: I was like, I kept like, let me check my schedule.
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: I should be able to do it. You're like, oh, yeah,
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: come to studio. I'm broke. No, I lied, I'm not
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: broke at this time. I'm I'm not where. I'm not
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: where I'm at now, but I'm not broke. But I
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: said to myself, I said, I'm not missing this but nothing.
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: I literally go to like the foot locker around the
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: corner and I buy some like Nike text shorts, and
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: I hit up one of my HOMEBOYDT of clothing Bran.
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: I'm like, bring me a shirt, like I'm not going
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: home because I don't. I'm a notoriously late person. So
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: I'm like, there's no way I'm missing this.
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: Oh you know what, I'm glad we finally figured that out.
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: I had not to do it today today, three hours late,
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: just so you had nothing to do with today's nothing
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: to do today, nothing, nothing to do. I do not
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: fly playing.
- 1:01:48Speaker 4: I'm sorry for the bus.
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: But when you said notorious late, let's say on topic,
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: I don't want to destroy.
- 1:01:56Speaker 3: So I'm like, I don't want to be lacist and
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: ruined this opportunity. So I'm like, cool, So I leave.
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: I book an airbnb right around the corner. You know,
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: at the time they was at uh there was a
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: Tribeca That's where I was, So I book, I book
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: an airbnb right around the corner. So I'm early, I'm
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: early to the studio and I'm walking through power and
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: I'm like.
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: Just soaking, and I'm like I should be.
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: And then you know, I did the episode and people
- 1:02:25Speaker 2: find they felt about the episode.
- 1:02:26Speaker 3: Some people loved it, people hated me, which is I.
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: Want you right down the middle of the Yeah, when
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: some people love me some people hate me.
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: You got to value both teams. That's what I'm learning
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: in life.
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: So did that and it was kind of you know,
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: that was a huge stamp for me. And then I
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: went on to do Brittany's Britany. It's a ship ton
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: of times since then, you know, shows have been you know, Charlomagne,
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: I've just been around around and I'm sure I remember, Yeah,
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: Charlaman hit me. Was it like coming right out the pandemic,
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: I want to say, coming like right out the pandemic
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: hit me and was like, yo, got the show wants
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: you to do for black apect.
- 1:03:06Speaker 4: Dug Like where do I soun?
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: Like?
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: No, Like he's like, you know what I mean, I know,
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: pe feel you know, you can feel how you feel
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: about you know, loyalty or whatever came may be. And
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: then they Charloamagne, I call him uncle. I look at
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: him like an uncle, like it's very rare. It's gonna
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: be very rare, feel and far between times he said
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: he got an opportunity for me.
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: I'm gonna question it. I'm gonna be like, well let.
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: Me if he say I'm doing it. He's one of
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: those people like that, like in you know, in my
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: life and my career is it's only you know, paid dividends.
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: So yeah, the black Ef fact, it was me and Nila,
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: we frings in real life.
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: We you know, love it.
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: We love each other and argue each other all the
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: time about rap. So it was a perfect storm.
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: Yeah. I don't know if you know, well you probably
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: don't know this about me, but I he was a
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: rapper love I was a rapper.
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: I love rap music like I love it, but I'm
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: like a diehard. I'm like, I'm one of those girls
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: that like love the one person and that's the one person.
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: But I have this battle within myself where jay Z's
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: my husband. When I say favorite rapper and Drake, no,
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: I mean, let me finish, let me finish, let me
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: let me finish this. Drake or jay Z's my favorite rapper?
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: Right so I could you know he would be considered
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: like my my my husband, but Drake would have to
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: be my favorite side dude.
- 1:04:31Speaker 4: That's where I'm at when it comes to rap.
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: I had to I was like dying to have your
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: hair because I wanted hair, but I don't. I don't
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: know how else to put it. But basically, I listen
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: to Drake so much that I.
- 1:04:41Speaker 4: Feel like I cheat on jay Z. That's how it
- 1:04:47Speaker 4: feels like.
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: Sometimes if I listen to Drake too much, I feel
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: like I have to play jay Z just to even
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: it out.
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: It don't matter what I listen to like and throughout
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: the day, I'm listening to a bunch of I'm listening
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: to on Be and listening to motil.
- 1:05:00Speaker 4: I'm the same jazz.
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: I'm listening in the old jazz. I'm listening in the
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: you know, I'm listening to a lot of stuff. But
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: if I feel like I've been listening to something too long.
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: I'm listening to some holes. Some hold I'm holding there.
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: So yeah, I get it. I understand if.
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: You saw in the studio, I have a custom. I
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: talk about it all the time. I don't know if
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: I said it on the cipher sounds. It's a custom,
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: like five foot painting of jay Z.
- 1:05:26Speaker 4: It's a rare photo.
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: The guy that shot the photo owned the Respect magazine
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: and she gave me the I saw the picture in
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: it and I called my mom, who was a portrait artist,
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: and I was like, Mom, i'll pay you. And I
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: think I was like twenty seven or something like twenty four,
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: and my mom gave me like a cheap rate for
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: her daughter, but it was like what I could afford.
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: Looking back, it was a great deal. And I paid
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: for this painting and I had it in New York
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: for like five years, and when I bought my house,
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: my mom shipped it and I finally it's been on
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: my living room wall forever.
- 1:06:00Speaker 4: My husband was like, we got to get rid of
- 1:06:04Speaker 4: jay Z, and I'm like, jay Z is not going anywhere, and.
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: This was a battle. He's like, we should have family pictures,
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: like jay Z can't go anywhere. So I moved jay
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: Z into our studio and.
- 1:06:13Speaker 4: He looks great.
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: That's like as soon as I walk DOWNSAD, I.
- 1:06:16Speaker 3: Say, yeah, I'm good.
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: Yeah, he's my favorite rapper. But Drake by far, to me,
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: is just great. But I for anytime I had problems,
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: I leaned into hip hop.
- 1:06:27Speaker 4: And that was like the thing.
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: And to this day, like when I'm heavy in my head,
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: the only thing that pulls me out is hip hop.
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: And but I'm not into anybody new, and I feel
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: like I just won't give them a chance because I'm
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: just not impressed with any of the new rappers.
- 1:06:42Speaker 4: That's got to Yeah, yeah, but I'm strictly those two.
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: But I guess the analogy you didn't like, But you
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: get what I'm saying. If I lean to Drake too much,
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: I have to miss. I was one of those do
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: you remember when they had your car had like six
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: CD players in it or six little you're not that old, okay, Well,
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: you know playing CDs and you could put more than
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: one CD in the car. I was one of those
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: people that you could put on everyone. If you pass one, two, three, four, whatever,
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: all of them were jay Z And everybody that got
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: in my car would be like, oh my god, it's
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: every CD J that's how much of a diehard jay
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: Z fan.
- 1:07:25Speaker 4: I'm not even gonna lie.
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: Like three months ago, a month ago, I shot my
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: shot for jay Z for eating while broke.
- 1:07:30Speaker 4: Why wouldn't you, That's what I said. I said, Look, man,
- 1:07:33Speaker 4: he's a billionaire. How great would it be?
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: Jay Z a billionaire self made on eating while broke,
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: eating his broke dish.
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: It's like, I'm gonna right and it's gonna happen.
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: They turned me down. They said not right now, but
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: I said.
- 1:07:45Speaker 4: Hey, you know it'll be next time, not right now.
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: That means right now's coming.
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm gonna keep I'm gonna keep shooting my shot,
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: and you know, the day he does it, my favorite
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: painting will be you know, yeah right there.
- 1:07:59Speaker 4: Yeah, it's a rare photo. Have you seen that with
- 1:08:01Speaker 4: the little kool aid?
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: That's so tough. When I seen it, I was seen
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: out there.
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: I was like, oh, that's tough because I was thinking
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: about like, I know, I wanted that picture like blowing
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: them and put in my house.
- 1:08:10Speaker 4: So I was like, oh, you've seen the picture before. Yeah,
- 1:08:13Speaker 4: it's a very rare picture.
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: Yeah I got I recreated that picture on my Instagram
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: and all my friends were so annoyed.
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: Really, oh my goodness, I love that.
- 1:08:22Speaker 4: I want to do that.
- 1:08:23Speaker 3: That's what I create that picture on my girl. Oh
- 1:08:25Speaker 3: my friends was so annoyed.
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: I want to with you.
- 1:08:28Speaker 4: I want to recreate it. I'm going to be just
- 1:08:29Speaker 4: I want to do that.
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: I'm sorry, Listen, I did first. It is fine, Well
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: he did first.
- 1:08:33Speaker 4: I did a second, and I'll shout out.
- 1:08:36Speaker 3: That's all I care about.
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: Okay, okay, what advice would you give to anyone trying
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: to be in your shoes?
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: They're too small, they already already, they already mine. You
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: have to do issues. You gotta walking issues. That's really
- 1:08:49Speaker 2: the best advice I give people, you know what I mean.
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: Like and perspective, It's all about perspective. I'm only lit
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: because you're not where you want to be yet, you
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: know what I'm saying, Like, I'm very honest with myself
- 1:09:01Speaker 2: about where I'm at in my state. I'm in a
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: great position. God has blessed me.
- 1:09:06Speaker 3: But I'm nowhere.
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: Anyone else can't be if they lean into themselves the
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: way I leaned into myself. That's the only thing that
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: separates me from everyone else. That or that's what separates
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: me from the people who haven't done yet at least
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: leaned into me. I didn't go try and be anybody else.
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: I didn't go trying.
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: No.
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: Now, I was influenced by who I was influenced by.
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: I can't change that. Yeah, but I didn't go try
- 1:09:27Speaker 2: and be them. I'm me and I lean into me.
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: That's all I could do. So you got lean into you.
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: That's the only advice, you know, find your.
- 1:09:34Speaker 4: Voice in your craft.
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: What is the hardest thing that you had to lean into? Like,
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: you know how I don't like social media? What is
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: that one thing in your lineup where you're like, oh,
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: I hate leaning into.
- 1:09:47Speaker 3: I don't think there's anything.
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: Really like, not even sales, because I feel like you're
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: an entrepreneur at the end of the day, you're an entrepreneur.
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: That is the numbers of it, you know, the numbers
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: in the business of it that that does get annoy
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: and you know, but I think now that I'm thinking about,
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: I think the question he answer is probably the rejection
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: I didn't. I wasn't all that familiar with rejection growing up,
- 1:10:12Speaker 2: Like boy's been a handsome guy, whatever, girl I want
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: to I had wanted something, I would have got it
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: down to, you know, robbing people if I wanted I
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: got it. Being in a space where you know, other
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: people kind of get the say. So it's new to me.
- 1:10:28Speaker 4: So I think, how are you facing rejection?
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: It was sord about before, you know, opportunities I don't get,
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: or something may not work the way I wanted it
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: to work, you know, or having a show and it
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: not getting you know, maybe to push you thought it deserved,
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: or the views you thought deserved.
- 1:10:47Speaker 3: You know, there's yeah, you just you don't.
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: This is the industry where you are going to get
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: familiar with rejection.
- 1:10:53Speaker 4: So how are you coping with it?
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: Keep working? Being on mind?
- 1:11:00Speaker 4: But oh that's it.
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: Pumping CDs or calling mom or calling someone alike.
- 1:11:06Speaker 3: They can't they can't relate.
- 1:11:07Speaker 4: That must be a guy thing, because I'm.
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: Like, I'm gonna call somebody who can't relate.
- 1:11:12Speaker 4: And then I pop my CDs.
- 1:11:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, listen, I'm gonna do my self care.
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: You know, I'm listening to my music like my candles,
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: drink my ginger Rell.
- 1:11:22Speaker 3: We I'm gonna get back to work.
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: I'm gonna get back to work.
- 1:11:26Speaker 3: So yeah, but yeah, I.
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: Think embracing the rejection or getting used to dealing with rejection,
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: I probe the thing I had on this road that
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: I had to get most comfortable with.
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: I am naturally a super optimistic person, so I fail
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: a lot. The name of my company's famous failures. I
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: believe in failing for it, so I count on my fs,
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: so like, if you go to the front, you'll see
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: f because like I am, like, yo, we gotta start
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: falling in love with like rejections and failures because the
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: more we get, the closer we get to Yes. But
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: I'm I'm like optimistic to a point where it's you'll
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: be like, yo, Cole, the odds are stacked to guess
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: you still want to proceed. I'm like, yeah, why not?
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: And then I fall flat every time I fall so
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: much that my best attribute is just getting back up. Yeah,
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: if you go in my bedroom, it's like there's two signs,
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: just integrity and perseverance, And I'm like, yeah, pretty much.
- 1:12:26Speaker 4: That's it. But it's a pleasure to have you. It's
- 1:12:28Speaker 4: about damn time.
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: Even though you served me a dish that was it. Hey,
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: look I'm a heater and I'm not even gonna hate
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: it was a great banana sandwich, was great oatmeal. You
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: did a fantastic job for someone that has never made it,
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: and you came all the way from New York and
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: you didn't bring me any egg rolls.
- 1:12:51Speaker 4: I totally forgot. I totally forgot.
- 1:12:54Speaker 3: I forgot.
- 1:12:56Speaker 4: But it's a pleasure to have you.
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: Are you gonna be at the Black Effect Festival.
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: No, we got a show in New York that day
- 1:13:02Speaker 2: on the twenty second, know, and we was actually initially
- 1:13:06Speaker 2: when it was when the first remember the first date
- 1:13:09Speaker 2: we was track Carrig was a part of it.
- 1:13:11Speaker 3: And then you know, they switched the dates for whatever reason.
- 1:13:13Speaker 3: So we got that.
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: We got New York date. And I don't miss New York.
- 1:13:16Speaker 2: I don't miss home games for nothing. I don't miss
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: home games for nothing.
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: Okay, Well, I I go to I always try to
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: tape at least a week in Atlanta now and a
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: week in New York. So I'll be okay, and I'm
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: from there, so you know, and you know, my little
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: brother is Eagle Wit. He's a stand up comic in
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: New York.
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: Long here.
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: Anyways, he's really popping and you'll see him around. But uh,
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: where can everybody catch you?
- 1:13:45Speaker 2: Uh?
- 1:13:46Speaker 3: Where can you catch me outside of your mom playing?
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: Uh?
