- 0:01Speaker 2: Gasoline has been up. But as far as the economy
- 0:05Speaker 2: is concerned, As far as the economy is concerned, it's
- 0:08Speaker 2: been promises made, promises delivered. We are in the middle
- 0:11Speaker 2: of a blue-collar boom out of this world, and it's
- 0:14Speaker 2: just getting started.
- 0:15Speaker 3: You're listening to the 47 Morning Update with Ben Ferguson.
- 0:19Speaker 1: Good Monday morning. It is so nice to have you
- 0:21Speaker 1: with us on the 47 Morning Update, and we've got
- 0:23Speaker 1: a big story for you. Democrat former Governor Roy Cooper
- 0:28Speaker 1: now claims that the American people were frustrated and wanted
- 0:32Speaker 1: more prisoners released. because of COVID. This coming from a
- 0:37Speaker 1: governor that freed at least 3,500 convicted criminals as the
- 0:43Speaker 1: North Carolina governor during the COVID era. So is this
- 0:46Speaker 1: part of making sure we get rid of prisons and
- 0:49Speaker 1: let all the prisoners free? We explain it all to
- 0:52Speaker 1: you in the shocking details in just a moment. But
- 0:55Speaker 1: before we get to that, three years ago, terrorists murdered
- 0:59Speaker 1: more than 1,000 200 innocent Israelis and took 250 hostages. Today,
- 1:06Speaker 1: as we remember the souls lost on October the 7th,
- 1:09Speaker 1: Israel is still under threat from terrorists sworn to her destruction.
- 1:14Speaker 1: And anti-Semitic hatred and violence are continuing to rise. Yet
- 1:18Speaker 1: as the world looks away, a light shines in the darkness.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Christians and Jews are coming together to boldly stand with
- 1:24Speaker 1: Israel through the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews and
- 1:28Speaker 1: the Flags of Fellowship movement. Across America, on the anniversary
- 1:33Speaker 1: of October 7th attacks, churches, synagogues, universities, and communities are
- 1:40Speaker 1: planting Israeli flags. It's a powerful declaration that Israel is
- 1:44Speaker 1: not alone. Together, we can combat hate and anti-Semitism one
- 1:49Speaker 1: flag at a time. while supporting the fellowship's life-saving work
- 1:53Speaker 1: for people in need. So please donate today to plant
- 1:57Speaker 1: your flag and boldly show your support for Israel and
- 2:00Speaker 1: the Jewish people. You can join this historic movement with
- 2:04Speaker 1: a gift of just $ 25. So raise your voice and
- 2:08Speaker 1: show the world that Israel is not alone. Visit joinfof.org.
- 2:14Speaker 1: That's joinfof.org. It's the 47 Morning Update, and it starts
- 2:23Speaker 1: right now.
- 2:24Speaker 3: Story number one.
- 2:25Speaker 1: There is an interesting article that is now shedding light
- 2:30Speaker 1: on what Democrats' real goal was during COVID when it
- 2:35Speaker 1: came to the issue of emptying out our prisons. I'm
- 2:40Speaker 1: not joking about this. Former North Carolina governor and current
- 2:45Speaker 1: Democratic Senate candidate Roy Cooper said claimed that people were, quote,
- 2:49Speaker 1: very frustrated that his administration did not release more prisoners.
- 2:56Speaker 1: CNN's Manu Raju asked Cooper if he had regrets about
- 3:00Speaker 1: the way he and his administration handled the, quote, court-ordered
- 3:05Speaker 1: settlement between civil rights groups to reduce the prison population
- 3:09Speaker 1: during the COVID era. The centerpiece of the Republican campaign
- 3:14Speaker 1: against you is this settlement deal. that you reached, quote,
- 3:17Speaker 1: about the prisoner release. Roughly 3,500 prisoners were released early
- 3:25Speaker 1: in the name of COVID. And when you look back
- 3:28Speaker 1: at the way that was handled by you and your administration,
- 3:30Speaker 1: Maniraju asked, do you have any regrets by the way
- 3:33Speaker 1: you handled it? Quote, this is something that the state
- 3:38Speaker 1: had to do because the court ordered it, Cooper responded.
- 3:42Speaker 1: And I think a lot of people believe if you
- 3:44Speaker 1: ask the plaintiffs, They were very frustrated that there weren't
- 3:49Speaker 1: more that were released. Now, think about what this means
- 3:52Speaker 1: for a second. What this means is Democrats were trying
- 3:56Speaker 1: to use COVID as a reason for what they describe
- 4:00Speaker 1: in their radical agenda as bail reform and prison reform, right?
- 4:04Speaker 1: They're obsessed with with letting prisoners out of prison, and
- 4:08Speaker 1: they want lawlessness. They want no police. They want no prisons.
- 4:14Speaker 1: They want cashless bail, regardless if you rape someone, beat someone,
- 4:18Speaker 1: kill someone. They don't care. They want criminals running around
- 4:22Speaker 1: among us. And that is exactly what happened during COVID.
- 4:26Speaker 1: They saw an opportunity. And they took it to say, well,
- 4:31Speaker 1: there's prison overcrowding or we can't keep everybody safe in
- 4:35Speaker 1: the prisons with COVID. And so, therefore, we must let
- 4:38Speaker 1: out the prisoners. That was the logic. And then they
- 4:41Speaker 1: did it. Now, these comments from the Democrat Cooper came
- 4:46Speaker 1: after reporting from Maniraju noted that North Carolina Republican Senate
- 4:51Speaker 1: candidate Michael Watley has centered his attacks on Cooper's record
- 4:55Speaker 1: on crime. And he criticized Cooper over the court-ordered settlement.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Whatley has said that the actual number of convicted criminals
- 5:04Speaker 1: that Cooper released could actually be more than 4,200 criminals. Now,
- 5:11Speaker 1: Breitbart News also reported that in 2021, Cooper and a
- 5:17Speaker 1: far-left group announced a settlement agreement releasing a total of
- 5:20Speaker 1: 3,500 convicted criminals from state prison. Cooper has also been
- 5:25Speaker 1: described as having offered numerous excuses for releasing not just criminals,
- 5:30Speaker 1: but violent criminals from prison as well. In 2021, Cooper
- 5:35Speaker 1: and far-left groups announced that settlement releasing a total of
- 5:39Speaker 1: at least 3,500 convicted criminals from the state prison. When
- 5:43Speaker 1: the settlement was announced, prison officials said only convicts with
- 5:47Speaker 1: sentences ending in 2021 would be released. Now, that declaration
- 5:52Speaker 1: misled a state legislative committee and forced officials to correct
- 5:58Speaker 1: them at the time, indicating violent offenders would, in fact,
- 6:02Speaker 1: be released. Not wouldn't be released, would be released. The
- 6:07Speaker 1: list of specific offenders was shielded at the time as well.
- 6:10Speaker 1: No transparency for what criminals would be running among us.
- 6:14Speaker 1: And only released when it was confirmed that that DeCarlos Brown,
- 6:19Speaker 1: the man accused of murdering a Ukrainian refugee at the
- 6:23Speaker 1: Charlotte light rail system, was on that list. Now, I
- 6:27Speaker 1: want you to think about that. That's the killing that
- 6:30Speaker 1: went viral because it was caught on video. Now, Cooper,
- 6:35Speaker 1: who was the governor, has offered numerous excuses for releasing
- 6:38Speaker 1: violent criminals from prison. Quote, this was something that we
- 6:43Speaker 1: wanted to do to make sure we worked to protect
- 6:45Speaker 1: the public.
- 6:46Speaker 3: Really?
- 6:47Speaker 4: Really?
- 6:47Speaker 1: That's how Cooper explained it on CNN, saying public safety
- 6:51Speaker 1: officers made decisions about this. They follow the lead of
- 6:54Speaker 1: President Trump's team. President Trump released 13,000 prisoners at least
- 6:58Speaker 1: during the COVID era. He signed a bill to do that. Now,
- 7:01Speaker 1: North Carolina Democrat Roy Cooper says he should have released
- 7:05Speaker 1: more criminals back onto the streets. That is insane, folks.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Completely and utterly insane. I want you to hear part
- 7:15Speaker 1: of this from CNN. Listen to how they spun this.
- 7:19Speaker 5: He is going after Cooper's record on crime, including over
- 7:23Speaker 5: a court-ordered settlement that Cooper reached as governor with civil
- 7:27Speaker 5: rights groups to reduce the prison population during COVID. Do
- 7:30Speaker 5: you have any regrets by the way you handled that?
- 7:33Speaker 6: This is something that the state had to do because
- 7:37Speaker 6: the court ordered it. And I think a lot of
- 7:39Speaker 6: people believed, if you ask the plaintiffs, They were very
- 7:43Speaker 6: frustrated that more weren't released. And this was something that
- 7:49Speaker 6: we wanted to do to make sure we worked to
- 7:51Speaker 6: protect the public. Public safety officers made decisions about this.
- 7:55Speaker 6: They followed the lead of President Trump's team. The problem
- 7:59Speaker 6: here is that they are lying about all of these
- 8:03Speaker 6: cases that they're trying to connect to this.
- 8:06Speaker 1: I look at this, and I go back to the
- 8:10Speaker 1: core here. You look at this defense by Cooper. He's
- 8:14Speaker 1: now accusing Republicans of lying about all these cases, that
- 8:18Speaker 1: they're trying to connect to this and say that he
- 8:20Speaker 1: was the one who actually prosecuted violent criminals and put
- 8:24Speaker 1: them behind bars. Well, hold on a second. Which one
- 8:26Speaker 1: is it? Which one is it? Now, Cooper, by the way,
- 8:31Speaker 1: during a campaign appearance in August, also lied to reporters
- 8:34Speaker 1: when he was asked about his soft on crime record.
- 8:37Speaker 1: When he was asked about it, again, Cooper said, quote,
- 8:40Speaker 1: independent fact checkers show most of what they're saying is
- 8:43Speaker 1: simply not true. So he's using these fictitious fact checkers
- 8:47Speaker 1: to say, oh, no, no, no, I didn't let anybody go.
- 8:49Speaker 1: I'm the only one in the race who's actually prosecuted
- 8:51Speaker 1: violent criminals and worked to keep them behind bars, he
- 8:54Speaker 1: went on to say. Are you kidding me? RNC Research
- 8:57Speaker 1: putting this out from an event. And here's what they said.
- 9:01Speaker 4: They're coming at you for being soft on crime. What's
- 9:03Speaker 4: your message to voters who hear those messages? And what
- 9:06Speaker 4: specific strategies do you have in place or thoughts in
- 9:09Speaker 4: place to try to make North Carolina a safer place?
- 9:12Speaker 7: Well, first, independent fact checks show that most of what
- 9:15Speaker 7: they're saying is simply not true. And I'm the only
- 9:19Speaker 7: one in this race who's actually prosecuted violent criminals and
- 9:23Speaker 7: worked to keep them behind bars.
- 9:28Speaker 1: That is the complete opposite of what the governor did
- 9:33Speaker 1: at the time. In this matter, not only is Cooper lying,
- 9:38Speaker 1: he's pathologically lying. Court and public records also confirm, by
- 9:43Speaker 1: the way, that Cooper settled a lawsuit filed by the
- 9:45Speaker 1: far-left group in order to release, he was basically working
- 9:48Speaker 1: with them, a minimum of 3,500 convicted criminals from prison.
- 9:53Speaker 1: And the only governor in the country who signed a
- 9:55Speaker 1: legally binding agreement requiring their states to release the prisoners was, yeah,
- 10:00Speaker 1: you guessed it the North Carolina Democratic Governor Cooper Roy
- 10:06Speaker 1: Cooper is the only one in the country that did
- 10:09Speaker 1: this we now have learned that the total ended up
- 10:12Speaker 1: being 4200 at least that we know of and if
- 10:16Speaker 1: you think that's not enough Cooper also vetoed legislation requiring
- 10:21Speaker 1: cooperation with ICE detainers, increasing penalties for rioting, and allowing
- 10:27Speaker 1: more juvenile crime to move into the justice system as well.
- 10:32Speaker 1: So when they tell you that they're not going to
- 10:34Speaker 1: use things like COVID to push their radical agenda, yeah,
- 10:38Speaker 1: guess what? They're lying to you. They will absolutely, absolutely
- 10:42Speaker 1: use their radical agenda... to push no matter what's happening. Like,
- 10:48Speaker 1: they don't care if it's COVID. They're like, great, push
- 10:50Speaker 1: the agenda, get everybody out of jail. That's the Democratic Party, folks.
