- 0:57Speaker 3: Back back, bye bye by that.
- 0:59Speaker 4: I'm to the Friday edition of Radio Night Live and
- 1:03Speaker 4: grateful to have you with us. We're still celebrating. We're
- 1:06Speaker 4: going to celebrate our fifth anniversary for the whole year.
- 1:08Speaker 4: It's five years of fun on every Friday. Christine Nicholas
- 1:12Speaker 4: my partner in crime, and all this fun that's been
- 1:14Speaker 4: had and Christine, you gotta pray for me this week
- 1:19Speaker 4: or this weekend. Okay, I haven't done solo dad weekends.
- 1:24Speaker 2: In quite a while.
- 1:26Speaker 4: Okay, it's interesting now because the kids are now more independent.
- 1:32Speaker 4: But that like so I'm not as afraid that they're
- 1:35Speaker 4: going to like hurt themselves, but they're more mischievous. So
- 1:39Speaker 4: you know, I took the Lovely Bride to the airport
- 1:41Speaker 4: last night because she has a family wedding in California.
- 1:44Speaker 3: That we were all going to go to.
- 1:45Speaker 4: By the way, what's the proper etiquette for not showing
- 1:48Speaker 4: for a wedding that you are a s vped.
- 1:50Speaker 5: For Like, as long as you send a gift, there's
- 1:52Speaker 5: no problem. Yeah, well that's what it's coming.
- 1:55Speaker 3: Now to send her Just her was two thousand dollars.
- 1:59Speaker 2: Right, yeah's a lot. It's an investment.
- 2:01Speaker 5: I've got to go to a wedding on the West
- 2:03Speaker 5: Coast in September, and she has.
- 2:05Speaker 2: All these cousins.
- 2:06Speaker 4: Yeah, this is like the fourth cousin in five years
- 2:08Speaker 4: to get married, and like they never did.
- 2:11Speaker 3: Can't you just all get married in one year? Like,
- 2:13Speaker 3: just do it all at once. So then I just
- 2:15Speaker 3: bring the family and we're there and then go home.
- 2:17Speaker 2: But h I get Madison Square Garden the way they
- 2:20Speaker 2: never mind.
- 2:22Speaker 4: Or Times Square on Yes, okay, But so anyway, so
- 2:26Speaker 4: last night, you know, I did the dinner and then
- 2:30Speaker 4: we did the cleanup, and then we did movie thing,
- 2:33Speaker 4: and then today it was three different drop offs, and
- 2:36Speaker 4: it's going to be and she doesn't get back till Monday.
- 2:38Speaker 4: So if we can just get through this weekend, I
- 2:42Speaker 4: think it's going to be good. But having said that,
- 2:45Speaker 4: we've got a very exciting show straight ahead.
- 2:47Speaker 2: We do.
- 2:48Speaker 5: And look, if you're looking for something to do with
- 2:50Speaker 5: the kids, there's a great opportunity at the Second Avenue
- 2:54Speaker 5: Festival this Saturday tomorrow. And this festival runs, you know,
- 2:59Speaker 5: for blocks. I think it starts at sixtieth Street and
- 3:01Speaker 5: goes all the way up to eighty sixth Street. But
- 3:03Speaker 5: if you pinpoint and go to seventy six to seventy
- 3:07Speaker 5: seventh Street, the Animal Medical Center will be there and
- 3:10Speaker 5: they're going to give you tips on how to handle
- 3:13Speaker 5: and take care of your pets. And if you don't
- 3:15Speaker 5: have pets, Kevin, they got something really fun. They can
- 3:18Speaker 5: have a pet dating opportunity meeting. They're going to have
- 3:23Speaker 5: an analyst vet.
- 3:24Speaker 3: That's what.
- 3:25Speaker 2: No, no, no, no.
- 3:26Speaker 5: They will sit with you and determine through your personality
- 3:30Speaker 5: traits what would be the best mate for you as
- 3:33Speaker 5: far as the pet. So when Michelle Lifer comes on,
- 3:36Speaker 5: I think we might want to ask what would be
- 3:39Speaker 5: the right pet for Kevin?
- 3:41Speaker 4: Too bad we can't make lions domesticated? Okay, moving on
- 3:44Speaker 4: for that?
- 3:45Speaker 2: Okay, right, all right? Or mice or men, I don't
- 3:49Speaker 2: know which one.
- 3:49Speaker 4: So, speaking of that, my best our kids, best friends'
- 3:55Speaker 4: friends like Melissa and Amy, had all of their babies
- 3:59Speaker 4: like in the same like two weeks of each other,
- 4:01Speaker 4: for all three of our kids, not literally, but very
- 4:04Speaker 4: close anyway. They just got a bunny and so my
- 4:07Speaker 4: kids have been playing with this bunny for the last
- 4:10Speaker 4: several weeks.
- 4:11Speaker 2: And it's not a small bunny.
- 4:12Speaker 4: It's a big bunny dog. But it's a floppy haired one.
- 4:15Speaker 4: It's one of those ones that has very cute so
- 4:17Speaker 4: it's very cute, and they're like, day, can we have one?
- 4:19Speaker 2: I'm like, no, they poop a lot. Can I say
- 4:22Speaker 2: that on the air? Poop a lot?
- 4:26Speaker 3: I told him that, I said, And I'm not cleaning
- 4:28Speaker 3: it up.
- 4:28Speaker 2: And the kids think it's funny.
- 4:30Speaker 4: My wife said, well, if they don't, you certainly are crud. So, yeah,
- 4:35Speaker 4: we're not getting the bunny, but they are trying to
- 4:37Speaker 4: talk me into a cat. And we haven't had a
- 4:39Speaker 4: pet in the house since before the kids came, so
- 4:42Speaker 4: we're probably due.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I think so.
- 4:44Speaker 5: Look, and I'm about to become an empty nester, you know,
- 4:48Speaker 5: I've got today's decision day, right, So our kids made
- 4:53Speaker 5: announcements just where they're.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Going to college.
- 4:55Speaker 5: Yeah, going out Midwest, Purdue and Miami and Ohio NA.
- 5:01Speaker 4: What was what was the character of film or that
- 5:05Speaker 4: had all the animals in the house, not doctor Doolittle, Yeah,
- 5:08Speaker 4: doctor Dolittle. Yes, I do speak to the animals, you know,
- 5:12Speaker 4: and we got you understand when they speak back, Oh
- 5:15Speaker 4: my gosh, and I give them voices.
- 5:18Speaker 2: I know. It's part of the dog owner.
- 5:20Speaker 5: Derangement syndrome that you actually think that you can talk
- 5:23Speaker 5: to these animals.
- 5:24Speaker 2: Yeah, it is.
- 5:24Speaker 5: It's a funny thing that, you know, all of a sudden,
- 5:26Speaker 5: your plans change according to the mood of the dog.
- 5:30Speaker 5: You end up not going places because you don't want
- 5:33Speaker 5: to leave the dog, or you have to bring the dog.
- 5:36Speaker 5: So now when we go on vacation. We have to
- 5:38Speaker 5: only find hotels that will allow the dogs.
- 5:41Speaker 3: You're not bringing the dog to Italy.
- 5:43Speaker 2: I'm just yeah, no, no, no, I'm not bringing the
- 5:45Speaker 2: dog to Italy.
- 5:45Speaker 5: But anyway, so I'm just I'm just saying with being
- 5:48Speaker 5: an empty nest, we got the dog. Oh, we bring
- 5:53Speaker 5: somebody into the house to stay with the dogs, because
- 5:56Speaker 5: I don't want them to be stressed. You don't count them, no, no,
- 6:00Speaker 5: they stay in their own home.
- 6:01Speaker 3: Our last dog close.
- 6:03Speaker 4: It was a wonderful, wonderful pet. We named him Winston
- 6:07Speaker 4: because I'm a big Churchill fan.
- 6:09Speaker 2: By the way, Kevin, you know Tuesday is a big day.
- 6:13Speaker 2: It's going to be the Tony nominations. Yes, yeah, it's
- 6:17Speaker 2: going to be exciting. So we'll talk about for the
- 6:19Speaker 2: most open.
- 6:21Speaker 5: I haven't seen everything yet. I am going tonight, Nick
- 6:24Speaker 5: and I are seeing every brilliant thing with Daniel Ratcliffe.
- 6:27Speaker 2: That's going to be great.
- 6:28Speaker 5: I saw Dog Day Afternoon on Tuesday evening. I thought
- 6:32Speaker 5: that was interesting, very good. I've seen Beaches about World
- 6:38Speaker 5: War two day. Yeah, Dog Day Afternoon is about the film.
- 6:41Speaker 5: You know, it's about Actually in Brooklyn, there was the
- 6:44Speaker 5: Chase Manhattan bank in nineteen seventy two was robbed and
- 6:48Speaker 5: it was where the robbers got locked into the bank,
- 6:53Speaker 5: so they became it became a hostage situation, and the
- 6:57Speaker 5: crowds formed and it became like a spectacle, and then
- 7:01Speaker 5: the Robert would release a hostage.
- 7:03Speaker 2: This is a true story.
- 7:04Speaker 5: And whenever he did, I mean you had like over
- 7:08Speaker 5: thousands of people watching this, they would cheer. So they
- 7:11Speaker 5: made him like a hero in these you know, six
- 7:15Speaker 5: hours that he was in this bank and he was
- 7:17Speaker 5: playing and toying with the audience. It's a fascinating story. Yeah,
- 7:23Speaker 5: cool story, Dog Day Afternoon. And there's also the film
- 7:26Speaker 5: al Pacino was fantastic in it, So if you want
- 7:31Speaker 5: to download or stream something Dog Day Afternoon and watch it.
- 7:35Speaker 5: So yeah, but we'll talk more about the Tony's Fallen
- 7:38Speaker 5: Angels is a fantastic hit. I thought from nineteen twenty
- 7:43Speaker 5: four and it just came back out. So a lot
- 7:46Speaker 5: of fun things on Broadway right now, maybe Happy ending
- 7:49Speaker 5: one last year. Are they eligible to win more Tony's No, no, no,
- 7:54Speaker 5: So the only way you can is if you are
- 7:57Speaker 5: a revival.
- 7:58Speaker 2: So like Rocky Horror, the.
- 8:01Speaker 4: Darren Chris leaves if someone else comes in to take
- 8:04Speaker 4: his place. Is he eligible to be nominated?
- 8:07Speaker 5: No, okay, No, it's it's all about the new shows
- 8:11Speaker 5: and the revivals right now. There will be some Lifetime
- 8:16Speaker 5: Achievement awards.
- 8:17Speaker 2: Things like that.
- 8:18Speaker 5: But and even like Cats, the Jelica Ball that is
- 8:21Speaker 5: such a different version of Cats. I have to check
- 8:25Speaker 5: and we'll find out on nomination day whether or not
- 8:27Speaker 5: they're going to consider that as a revival or a
- 8:29Speaker 5: brand new show, because it's very different.
- 8:32Speaker 2: So that's something we can we can ask. Asked Betty
- 8:35Speaker 2: Buckley her thoughts.
- 8:35Speaker 5: On right, And we can also ask Emma Gene Lloyd Webber,
- 8:38Speaker 5: our friend who's dad is Andrew Lloyd Webber.
- 8:41Speaker 3: Will be joining us.
- 8:43Speaker 5: Perhaps maybe we can have imagen on she and she
- 8:46Speaker 5: was busy with the show.
- 8:47Speaker 2: She was busy with the with the King and Queen.
- 8:50Speaker 5: You know, they were in town this week and they
- 8:52Speaker 5: were right in our neighborhood.
- 8:53Speaker 4: They went to the has that really posh gig of
- 8:57Speaker 4: getting to just cover them, which is like in terms
- 9:00Speaker 4: of journalism, that's got to be like the best beat.
- 9:02Speaker 3: On the planet.
- 9:04Speaker 5: Yeah, well the current kids, Yeah, that might have been.
- 9:08Speaker 4: It's fun you get to write about interesting things. You're
- 9:11Speaker 4: never in a danger zone.
- 9:12Speaker 5: So now they're in different countries, the you know, the offspring,
- 9:17Speaker 5: the air and the spare. But we're not gonna we're
- 9:19Speaker 5: not very different countries in different the American.
- 9:22Speaker 2: Residents not gonna we're not going to reference that.
- 9:25Speaker 3: I mean, Megan's gonna markle, you know, and it's it's not.
- 9:27Speaker 6: Going to be good.
- 9:28Speaker 5: But the spare is very interesting. Certainly you can't, you know,
- 9:32Speaker 5: have one without the other in a way, the air
- 9:34Speaker 5: on the spare.
- 9:35Speaker 4: So I've actually patented that phrase, Megan's gonna markle. Megan's
- 9:41Speaker 4: I got a trademark on it, all right. I think
- 9:44Speaker 4: that I think that lands, I think that hits. All right,
- 9:47Speaker 4: we speaking of hitting. We got to take a break
- 9:49Speaker 4: because when we come back, we're going to talk about animals,
- 9:51Speaker 4: and then we're going to talk about bicycles, and then
- 9:53Speaker 4: we're gonna talk about tips.
- 9:55Speaker 7: Stay here, my pillow, Oh and my pillow employees want

- 10:59Speaker 8: Hi Kevin McCollough of That Kevin Show. You've heard me

- 11:06Speaker 8: a hospital all the way at home. If the worst
- 11:08Speaker 8: happens something travel insurance won't necessarily do well. We can't

- 11:30Speaker 6: And now it's time for the cats corner.
- 11:32Speaker 9: This is John cassmtitti's leadership matters two types of leadership,
- 11:37Speaker 9: whether you're in politics or whether you're in a corporate world.
- 11:39Speaker 9: If you're in politics, is a great divide between Democrats
- 11:43Speaker 9: and Republicans.
- 11:44Speaker 2: I remember the days when Nuke.
- 11:46Speaker 9: Ingridge and Bill Clinton they didn't like each other, but
- 11:49Speaker 9: they sat around the table and they.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Made peace with each other.
- 11:52Speaker 9: Ronald Reagan, Tip O'Neil, they didn't like each other, but
- 11:55Speaker 9: at the end of the day, they sat down around
- 11:58Speaker 9: a round table and guess what, they made a deal
- 12:01Speaker 9: that was good for America. So I call upon all politicians,
- 12:05Speaker 9: common sense, no nonsense leaders in the corporate world have
- 12:08Speaker 9: to find out and know what's going on, whether they're
- 12:11Speaker 9: there or not there. There's an old Greek expressions, don't
- 12:14Speaker 9: let the violin play behind your back. Leaders don't shut doors.
- 12:19Speaker 9: They make sure this door is open, and always know
- 12:22Speaker 9: what's going on on the other side of the office.
- 12:25Speaker 9: Leadership matters. I'm John Katsimatitis and that's.
- 12:28Speaker 2: Your Cat's corner.
- 12:29Speaker 10: Join John katsa Matidis on Kats and Cosmic weeknights at

- 13:19Speaker 14: People are starting to finally get the message that I've
- 13:21Speaker 14: been bringing to you on this show from day one,
- 13:23Speaker 14: which is as so long as a rod intends to
- 13:25Speaker 14: pursue nuclear weapons, that is an emminent threat to the
- 13:27Speaker 14: United States of America, and we cannot allow for that
- 13:29Speaker 14: to happen. We need to lock in the full and
- 13:32Speaker 14: total destruction of arons at nuclear capabilities, and then things
- 13:36Speaker 14: will go back to creating the Golden Era.
- 13:37Speaker 1: The Alex Marla's show weekdays at noon, right before Scott
- 13:41Speaker 1: Jennings at one am, nine seventy the Answer.
- 13:46Speaker 2: Nine the Answers.
- 13:52Speaker 15: From New York. It's Radio Night Life with Kevin McCullough.
- 13:57Speaker 15: Welcome back. It's the fun Friday edition of Radio Night Live.
- 14:01Speaker 15: And that means that we're talking about all the fun
- 14:03Speaker 15: things and Christine. Last year, for the first time, we
- 14:07Speaker 15: had our next guest on, and I remember it was
- 14:10Speaker 15: so much fun because I don't think we had talked
- 14:12Speaker 15: about pets and you know, just good things for pets,
- 14:16Speaker 15: and there's so many pet lovers in our listening audience,
- 14:20Speaker 15: so very excited to have ms lifer back.
- 14:22Speaker 3: But why don't you do the honors.
- 14:24Speaker 5: Happy to Kevin, and we are wonderful with pets. Everybody
- 14:28Speaker 5: loves pets. You can't like especially in New York.
- 14:30Speaker 3: This is the sad one.
- 14:31Speaker 2: I have kids, You have kids. There are many different
- 14:34Speaker 2: kinds of bests.
- 14:35Speaker 4: We didn't have kids. Once we had the kids, we
- 14:37Speaker 4: didn't have pets anymore. And I think when the kids
- 14:39Speaker 4: are gone, we'll probably get pets again.
- 14:40Speaker 5: So it's yes the way, yes exactly, but welcome back.
- 14:44Speaker 5: Michelle Leifer. Michelle's an animal loving, award winning journalist with
- 14:49Speaker 5: extensive experience in the health industry and is now working
- 14:53Speaker 5: at the Schwartzman Animal Medical Center. It's the world's largest
- 14:57Speaker 5: nonprofit animal hospital and trauma once with over one hundred
- 15:02Speaker 5: and forty vets providing the highest quality of medical care
- 15:07Speaker 5: with twenty specialties and services. It's located on the Upper
- 15:10Speaker 5: East Side. It is the go to place. I believe
- 15:13Speaker 5: you know the NYPDK nine. They deal with exotics, but
- 15:17Speaker 5: they've got a very exciting opportunity for average every day
- 15:22Speaker 5: New Yorker pet owners or even if you want to
- 15:25Speaker 5: own a pet, to meet with AMC vets and specialists
- 15:28Speaker 5: and Michelle you'll be there too.
- 15:30Speaker 2: But at the Second.
- 15:32Speaker 5: Avenue festival this weekend, you're going to be there and
- 15:37Speaker 5: you'll give out some advice, will tell us what you're
- 15:39Speaker 5: going to be doing. And this is all happening tomorrow, Saturday,
- 15:42Speaker 5: May second, and your booth tell us is going to
- 15:47Speaker 5: be between seventy six and seventy.
- 15:49Speaker 2: Seventh, I believe on Second Avenue.
- 15:51Speaker 16: We actually have the entire block between seventy sixth and
- 15:55Speaker 16: seventy seven on Second Avenue. So yes, we'll have thirty
- 15:59Speaker 16: boot boths representing fifteen different departments from across AMC, so
- 16:05Speaker 16: everything from primary care to specialties like surgery, neurology, dentistry, exotics,
- 16:11Speaker 16: internal medicine, anesthesia, emergency and critical care. So yeah, it's
- 16:16Speaker 16: just a really great opportunity to be able to speak
- 16:19Speaker 16: directly with our veterinarians and also just learn a lot,
- 16:23Speaker 16: but in a really fun, relaxed, laid back environment where
- 16:27Speaker 16: there are also.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Fun activities to do.
- 16:31Speaker 16: Many of the stations, for instance, Neurology is hosting a
- 16:35Speaker 16: sand art station. We have.
- 16:39Speaker 2: Primary care is.
- 16:40Speaker 16: Doing a stuffed animal vet clinic where our kids can
- 16:45Speaker 16: learn how to do exams. So yeah, it just there
- 16:47Speaker 16: will be a lot going on, but yeah, great opportunity
- 16:51Speaker 16: to meet everyone and learn more about AMC and more
- 16:55Speaker 16: about caring for your pet.
- 16:57Speaker 5: Yeah, Michelle, you know AMC so well known I think
- 16:59Speaker 5: is as a trauma hospital, but you know now that
- 17:03Speaker 5: I've gotten to know it better and I see just
- 17:07Speaker 5: folks bringing their cats and dogs and other animals in
- 17:11Speaker 5: for regular appointments.
- 17:13Speaker 2: You know how much of.
- 17:14Speaker 5: It is is just regular vet care compared to the
- 17:18Speaker 5: trauma part of it.
- 17:20Speaker 16: Well, as you mentioned, we have twenty specialties and services
- 17:24Speaker 16: and many of the ones that will be there tomorrow,
- 17:27Speaker 16: So that is a big part of what AMC is,
- 17:30Speaker 16: and I know people do think that.
- 17:32Speaker 2: Obviously.
- 17:32Speaker 16: Our er department is amazing and wonderful and the only
- 17:37Speaker 16: Level one trauma center in New York City, so we're
- 17:40Speaker 16: known for that and rightly so. But we also have
- 17:44Speaker 16: all of these wonderful specialties, so much of people come
- 17:49Speaker 16: to us for that from really all over the world,
- 17:51Speaker 16: So it's a big part of what is done at AMC.
- 17:55Speaker 4: How many doctor's visits do you think you guys execute in.
- 18:00Speaker 2: The given year.
- 18:01Speaker 16: I think our visits are fifty five thousands.
- 18:04Speaker 2: Wow?
- 18:05Speaker 17: Many?
- 18:05Speaker 2: Yeah, Oh my gosh.
- 18:07Speaker 16: Six thousand, yeah, somethings and many many.
- 18:09Speaker 4: Always judged by the number of beds they have. How
- 18:11Speaker 4: many compartments do you have for animals that need longer
- 18:14Speaker 4: than overnight?
- 18:15Speaker 16: You know, we have we just finished a major expansion
- 18:19Speaker 16: and renovation. I don't know exactly the number of beds
- 18:23Speaker 16: or cages we have, our kennels we have, but we're
- 18:26Speaker 16: able to accommodate many, many more patients now, which is
- 18:31Speaker 16: part of the reason we needed to expand. So we're
- 18:35Speaker 16: for a while it was harder to get an appointment,
- 18:37Speaker 16: which is we very much needed this expansion because we've
- 18:41Speaker 16: you know, the hospital's been around. AMC's been around since
- 18:45Speaker 16: nineteen ten, but the hospital had not been renovated in
- 18:49Speaker 16: sixty plus years. So we needed this because we can.
- 18:53Speaker 4: Website for people that are listening. If you're already intrigued

- 20:37Speaker 16: There's something for everyone always, So like the dragon, the
- 20:40Speaker 16: Commodo Dragon, dragons are fantastic companions.
- 20:44Speaker 4: Actually, by the way, my daughter would think that was
- 20:46Speaker 4: the coolest thing ever because she's just finished all the
- 20:49Speaker 4: wings of Fire and she's like done all them out
- 20:51Speaker 4: of train here, so it's like she's way into dragons
- 20:54Speaker 4: these days.
- 20:54Speaker 16: Well, they're really wonderful animals that you know. And there
- 20:59Speaker 16: as well as the pocket pets they call them, or
- 21:02Speaker 16: the hamsters, the gerbils, the guinea pigs, so yeah, lizards,
- 21:07Speaker 16: amazing reptile, all sorts of reptiles.
- 21:10Speaker 2: We had a start.
- 21:11Speaker 5: We looked at our gerbil as a starter pet for
- 21:14Speaker 5: the kids, and then we moved up to guinea pig,
- 21:16Speaker 5: and then we moved up to puppy, so you know,
- 21:21Speaker 5: kind of grew along with them. But this fair tomorrow,
- 21:26Speaker 5: so Kevin, you can get analyzed and figure out what
- 21:29Speaker 5: pet is good for you.
- 21:30Speaker 2: Finally, Yeah, finally someone can. Yeah. Is this much bigger
- 21:34Speaker 2: this year than previous years?
- 21:37Speaker 5: It seems like thirty booths seems like amazing.
- 21:40Speaker 16: Yes, we have, as I mentioned, there's many fifteen of
- 21:44Speaker 16: our our departments will be there. We also have our
- 21:49Speaker 16: community partners from ACC and Pause New York and the
- 21:52Speaker 16: Good Dog Foundation. So but this is part of the
- 21:56Speaker 16: Manhattan Chamber of Commerce Festival, so an overall all bigger
- 22:00Speaker 16: festival on Second Avenue. So yes, but we did it
- 22:05Speaker 16: last year and everyone had so much fun, including our staff.

- 27:38Speaker 4: Tickets free, AMCNY dot org is the website. But eleven
- 27:43Speaker 4: to five tomorrow, Second Avenue between seventy six and seventy seven.
- 27:47Speaker 4: Now we're also coming into this time of year, Michelle,
- 27:50Speaker 4: where the weather's changing and you know, people get outdoors
- 27:55Speaker 4: more with their animals. I know, just around where I live,
- 27:58Speaker 4: the dog walking has exploded compared to like the dead
- 28:01Speaker 4: of winter in terms of being out with them much
- 28:04Speaker 4: more so. So what are some things that we need
- 28:07Speaker 4: to be you know, just generally thinking of about our
- 28:09Speaker 4: pats as we move into the warmer part of the seasons.
- 28:12Speaker 16: Great, Well, you want to always bring water with you
- 28:16Speaker 16: when you take walks, and then on very hot days
- 28:19Speaker 16: and humid days, you want to minimize your outdoor time
- 28:24Speaker 16: with your dogs. Take quick walks in the morning or
- 28:28Speaker 16: later in you know that late afternoon, eve or early
- 28:32Speaker 16: evening not you know, don't do very strenuous activity. You
- 28:38Speaker 16: just want to really just you know, if it's too
- 28:41Speaker 16: hot for you, you don't. You don't want to be
- 28:43Speaker 16: out there with them. And you know, even more so
- 28:46Speaker 16: with them because they're sensitive. And if you have a
- 28:49Speaker 16: break yocephalic, which is a flat face breed, even more
- 28:52Speaker 16: so you know, a pug or bulldogs, you have to
- 28:56Speaker 16: be extra cautious because they're very sensitive to heat, as
- 29:00Speaker 16: well as older pets. So even if in the past
- 29:03Speaker 16: your pet maybe was fine, but now as they get older,
- 29:06Speaker 16: they're more sensitive to it. So just to be mindful
- 29:10Speaker 16: of that. You know, everyone wants to have fun, but
- 29:13Speaker 16: just you want to just prioritize their health and you know,
- 29:18Speaker 16: just look out for them.
- 29:19Speaker 2: Another thing is swimming.
- 29:21Speaker 16: People often assume that dogs are natural swimmers and they
- 29:25Speaker 16: know how, so that's not true. And so if you
- 29:28Speaker 16: have them around a pool or a lake, you want
- 29:31Speaker 16: to be extra cautious, use a life preserver possibly, and
- 29:38Speaker 16: just obviously have the pool fenced around like you would
- 29:41Speaker 16: with a child, because they don't necessarily know how to swim.
- 29:45Speaker 5: It's interesting that, yeah, well I'm on amc y dot orgy.
- 29:51Speaker 5: That's your website at Animal Medical Center, you have so
- 29:54Speaker 5: many great tips and one point that you know, as
- 29:57Speaker 5: the weather is getting warmer, we tend to eat out
- 30:00Speaker 5: more picnics, barbecues. And I know from experience a friend
- 30:06Speaker 5: of mine had a party and they had a hot
- 30:09Speaker 5: dog truck and it was for a fifth a five
- 30:13Speaker 5: year old birthday party, and the kids were having such
- 30:16Speaker 5: a great time feeding the dog the hot dogs until
- 30:20Speaker 5: the dog got so bloated and then later that night
- 30:22Speaker 5: had to have a stomach It was a very difficult
- 30:26Speaker 5: situation because you know, you you know, parents just thought
- 30:30Speaker 5: the dog was having a great time, didn't realize that
- 30:32Speaker 5: that was very dangerous. On your website, you've got some
- 30:36Speaker 5: great tips, but can you just inform our listeners you
- 30:40Speaker 5: know about table scraps and what might be dangerous.
- 30:43Speaker 2: For dogs doing a whole hot dog truck or whole
- 30:45Speaker 2: hot dog truck.
- 30:46Speaker 16: Yes, yeah, you want to be very mindful of what
- 30:50Speaker 16: human food you allow your pets to eat. Yes, hot dogs,
- 30:55Speaker 16: not too many hot dogs, but there are also corn
- 31:00Speaker 16: cobs are very dangerous for dogs and a lot of
- 31:04Speaker 16: people will discarded or even give it to their dog
- 31:08Speaker 16: not thinking anything of it, but they don't digest, so
- 31:12Speaker 16: they cause it can cause an obstruction, and we see
- 31:14Speaker 16: that all the time at AMC, so again that fruit
- 31:19Speaker 16: pits also cause an obstruction. Skewers very dangerous. Many many foods.
- 31:27Speaker 16: You know, obviously there's the grapes, chocolate, all of that
- 31:30Speaker 16: type of food. But and if you go to yes
- 31:33Speaker 16: our website a MCNY dot org and the USDAN Institute
- 31:38Speaker 16: for Animal Health Education, which is the public public education
- 31:41Speaker 16: arm of AMC, and we have a lot of information
- 31:45Speaker 16: there seasonal tips. We also have monthly webinars where you
- 31:49Speaker 16: can learn from our veterinarians. So I encourage people to
- 31:53Speaker 16: go there and look for that information if.
- 31:56Speaker 4: You're if you're kind of on the fence about your
- 31:59Speaker 4: pets into something and you're unsure about even maybe what
- 32:04Speaker 4: they ate or how much or whatever the air on
- 32:08Speaker 4: running into the hospital or what are we waiting to
- 32:11Speaker 4: see if it passes.
- 32:12Speaker 16: What we always say to error on the side of caution,
- 32:16Speaker 16: because it can be very dangerous and if you're able,
- 32:20Speaker 16: if it's something that can be easily resolved, Believe me,
- 32:23Speaker 16: our er team is so busy that they will do
- 32:25Speaker 16: that and get you out of there as quickly as possible.
- 32:29Speaker 16: If it's something that you're unsure of, always come in
- 32:33Speaker 16: because you know it could be a life threatening situation.
- 32:37Speaker 16: And many people you know aren't aware of a lot
- 32:40Speaker 16: of these things.
- 32:41Speaker 2: So all right, please please yeah tomorrow.
- 32:43Speaker 4: Second Avenue between seventy six and seventy seventh, it's eleven
- 32:46Speaker 4: to five. Go see everything that they've got going on

- 36:52Speaker 2: It's Radio Nightlife, Yours Kevin.
- 36:55Speaker 4: McCullough, Welcome back. It's Radio Night Lives. She's Christine, I'm Kevin.
- 36:59Speaker 4: We're celebrating our fifth year of being on the air
- 37:03Speaker 4: with Radio Night Lives, Fun Friday and Christine, an original
- 37:06Speaker 4: og of the co hosts, like she's the only one
- 37:09Speaker 4: that's still here. From the very beginning but Christine, what
- 37:12Speaker 4: fun we have on Fridays. And speaking of fun, there's
- 37:16Speaker 4: another reason to be out and about this weekend. Talk
- 37:20Speaker 4: to us about our introduce our next guest.
- 37:22Speaker 5: Well, speaking of five Right, the fabulous five five fifth anniversary,
- 37:26Speaker 5: there's also the five Borough Right Tour. Right, the five
- 37:30Speaker 5: Borough Bike Tour will be this Sunday, folks, May third,
- 37:34Speaker 5: and it goes from six am to six pm, so
- 37:36Speaker 5: please check online to make sure that you can get around.
- 37:40Speaker 2: The city easily.
- 37:42Speaker 5: But on Saturday there's a really special celebration for the bikers.
- 37:48Speaker 5: And if you picture like the blessing of the animals,
- 37:52Speaker 5: which Saint John the Divine is so famous for, this
- 37:55Speaker 5: is now the blessing of the bikers. So we have
- 38:01Speaker 5: as our guest Laura Bosley, the executive director of Cathedral
- 38:04Speaker 5: Programming of Cathedral Saint John the Divine. Welcome Laura, welcome
- 38:08Speaker 5: back and tell us about this blessing of the bicycles.
- 38:11Speaker 2: And do you have to.
- 38:13Speaker 5: Be actually registered for the TD Fiboro Bite Tour in
- 38:17Speaker 5: order to get a blessing?
- 38:19Speaker 19: Well, Hi, Kevin, high Christine. Great to be back with you, guys.
- 38:24Speaker 2: No you do not see the cathedral is for all.
- 38:28Speaker 19: The cathedral is for all, and this is certainly one
- 38:31Speaker 19: of our signature events that really drives that home for folks.
- 38:35Speaker 19: This is our twenty eighth annual Blessing of the Bikes Wow,
- 38:40Speaker 19: and we welcome people on every kind of pedal powered vehicle,
- 38:45Speaker 19: whether it's your bicycle, your tricycle, your scooter, your unicycle,
- 38:51Speaker 19: we've had them all in the cathedral. Our Dean Winnie
- 38:55Speaker 19: Varghiz will be there to bless the actual bite and
- 39:00Speaker 19: of course the riders themselves. It's a beautiful uh service
- 39:06Speaker 19: that is non denominational. It's the doors open and people
- 39:09Speaker 19: come on in, all of them, usually in their full
- 39:12Speaker 19: bike gear, which is always fun.
- 39:14Speaker 2: Lots of spands, lots of sand ecks. Indeed, wow, the things.
- 39:19Speaker 3: I didn't expect Christine to.
- 39:21Speaker 4: Say, you know, it's just that's the kind of thing
- 39:23Speaker 4: when we started the show five years ago.
- 39:25Speaker 3: She would have thought. I would have said, no, she's
- 39:28Speaker 3: the one saying it.
- 39:29Speaker 2: Hey, it gets me into church, Kevin, you know you
- 39:31Speaker 2: should be great.
- 39:32Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, we have now gone way over the Yes.
- 39:36Speaker 19: I don't know, Kevin, if you have any you know,
- 39:38Speaker 19: you can come too.
- 39:39Speaker 3: Now I wouldn't be caught. Dad, wearing spandex in public.
- 39:42Speaker 2: That's not true. You are yoga enthusiastic, so I'm sure there's.
- 39:46Speaker 3: Some proper yoga shorts for that.
- 39:48Speaker 4: I don't wear spandex for drant swimming off gear. I
- 39:54Speaker 4: got to ask you this though. This is important because
- 39:58Speaker 4: I am an evangelical. I believe in the power of prayer.
- 40:01Speaker 4: I love praying for people. I love everything about that.
- 40:07Speaker 4: Have we seen a reduction in injuries and rex in
- 40:11Speaker 4: the in the TD fib roughs since the blessings have
- 40:13Speaker 4: been going on, because I'm thinking that we're probably did.
- 40:16Speaker 4: I'm thinking that they just tanked out after the blessing started.
- 40:20Speaker 2: After out eight years.
- 40:21Speaker 19: I certainly I don't have the data on that, but
- 40:24Speaker 19: I would really hope so. But you know, one of
- 40:26Speaker 19: the parts of this service is they do bring out
- 40:31Speaker 19: the ghost bike and they do read the names of
- 40:34Speaker 19: those folks who did who did die because of accidents, daching,
- 40:40Speaker 19: you know, biking, And it's something that I think is
- 40:42Speaker 19: really powerful for everybody in the room to just remember, like, yeah,
- 40:46Speaker 19: it's one to get out on your bike, but we
- 40:49Speaker 19: all have to be, you know, aware of how vulnerable
- 40:52Speaker 19: sometimes that makes us on the roads. So I mean
- 40:57Speaker 19: to that end, one very end of the service, if
- 41:00Speaker 19: everyone gets to sort of walk their bikes through the
- 41:03Speaker 19: entirety of the cathedral and take in that beautiful space
- 41:06Speaker 19: on a morning with hopefully a lot of sunlight where
- 41:09Speaker 19: the stained glasses is glowing. They can then go outside
- 41:13Speaker 19: and on the steps. We'll have a council member Sean
- 41:16Speaker 19: Abreu kind of leading our helmet giveaway, which you also
- 41:20Speaker 19: do every year as part of blessing of the bikes.
- 41:22Speaker 2: You can be fitted for a.
- 41:24Speaker 19: New helmet so you start your spring cycle of cycling
- 41:30Speaker 19: really ready to be safe and enjoy the streets and
- 41:34Speaker 19: the bike paths in our city.
- 41:36Speaker 4: I think God really does want us to get exercise
- 41:39Speaker 4: and be out and be active and do all that stuff,
- 41:41Speaker 4: but I think he does want us to also be careful.
- 41:45Speaker 3: So I think it's really wonderful.
- 41:46Speaker 4: That you guys are taking that approach and the helmet giveaway,
- 41:51Speaker 4: that's huge.
- 41:53Speaker 19: Yeah, And I think that's actually that's the Department of Transportation.
- 41:56Speaker 19: I think Christine you might know Dak that that's been
- 41:59Speaker 19: spearheaded in the last several years.
- 42:01Speaker 2: And I think it's so valuable for people to doing
- 42:05Speaker 2: that absolutely.
- 42:07Speaker 5: Right and the five borough By Tour is one of
- 42:09Speaker 5: the safest bike operations. I mean it's not a race,
- 42:14Speaker 5: just as a reminder it is ride.
- 42:16Speaker 2: It's a ride.
- 42:18Speaker 5: Uh and they do require helmets and safety. But you know,
- 42:24Speaker 5: to Laura's point, you know this with with the White Bike,
- 42:28Speaker 5: the Spiritual Ghost Bike.
- 42:30Speaker 2: It does give you pause.
- 42:32Speaker 5: And to understand that you are if you're biking, you know,
- 42:36Speaker 5: every day to take caution. And I do see more
- 42:40Speaker 5: and more people riding and getting fit, but I see
- 42:44Speaker 5: more and more people wearing not wearing helmets, and I
- 42:48Speaker 5: think it's because the commuters, you know, they just think, oh,
- 42:51Speaker 5: I'm only going to be on this bike for a
- 42:53Speaker 5: few blocks, you know, maybe maybe a mile just to
- 42:56Speaker 5: get to my office and back, so they don't bother
- 42:59Speaker 5: with the helmet. And I'm fortunately if there is any uptick,
- 43:03Speaker 5: you know, and people getting injured and unfortunately death, I
- 43:06Speaker 5: think it's just because of the additional riders on the streets,
- 43:11Speaker 5: not doors shot or but on the streets.
- 43:13Speaker 16: Well.
- 43:13Speaker 19: I think with city Bike, of course, you know, everybody
- 43:15Speaker 19: can just grab a bike for those few blocks they
- 43:18Speaker 19: want to go. But I think you know, anyone who
- 43:20Speaker 19: comes to the cathedral and would like to get a helmet.
- 43:23Speaker 19: If you maybe don't have your own bike, but you
- 43:25Speaker 19: are a city bike user, please come and get a helmet.
- 43:29Speaker 2: Be as safe as you.
- 43:30Speaker 4: I was about to say, I've almost never seen a
- 43:33Speaker 4: city bike user wearing a helmet, very rare. Like if
- 43:37Speaker 4: people are wearing helmets, it's it's a private bike because
- 43:40Speaker 4: I and I see city bikes all the time, and
- 43:42Speaker 4: I just never see anybody wearing them.
- 43:43Speaker 2: One.
- 43:44Speaker 19: Well, I hope people know it's not safe, and I
- 43:48Speaker 19: really hope people take advantage of this. And it's it's
- 43:52Speaker 19: supposed to be a beautiful morning, so you know, please
- 43:55Speaker 19: come and spend it with us at the cathedral. And
- 43:59Speaker 19: if you don't know, you don't have to ride in
- 44:01Speaker 19: on a bike. If you are an enthusiast but you
- 44:04Speaker 19: don't have your own bite to bring in, you're certainly
- 44:06Speaker 19: welcome to come as well to have you.

- 49:58Speaker 3: So the Mets are back in first, No, the Yankees.
- 50:01Speaker 2: The MutS are in fifth place. Now, oh my god,
- 50:05Speaker 2: what is happening to the Mutts? They're earning their reputation?
- 50:08Speaker 2: Is the MutS not the Mets? Come on, get with
- 50:10Speaker 2: the program.
- 50:11Speaker 5: I think it's the curse of the band, the Zobimo

- 50:52Speaker 5: Its just opened today. We got a preview sneak peek
- 50:57Speaker 5: because Peter Eigner is one of the co creators. It's
- 51:01Speaker 5: absolutely stunning, seven thousand square feet at the Museum of
- 51:04Speaker 5: the City of New York on one hundred and third Street.
- 51:07Speaker 5: Peter will be joining us soon because Peter also this
- 51:11Speaker 5: week at France's Tavern yesterday he launched Echoes of the Revolution.
- 51:17Speaker 5: This is a brand new game. Yeah, you know, and
- 51:21Speaker 5: it's backed up by Assassin's Creed, so it's just fabulous.
- 51:27Speaker 5: It's going to have ten sites that you walk to
- 51:30Speaker 5: and then you'll see what looks like live adaptation of
- 51:35Speaker 5: actual characters that they've developed, real life of folks that
- 51:39Speaker 5: lived two hundred and fifty years ago.
- 51:41Speaker 2: So Echoes of the Revolution. Really, let's talk.
- 51:45Speaker 5: More about that when as we're rolling out all of
- 51:48Speaker 5: these fun important events for the two hundred and fiftieth.
- 51:51Speaker 3: Yeah, that sounds great. What a show man. Thank you
- 51:53Speaker 3: for being here, friends, and we'll see you next time.
