- 0:01Speaker 1: Jacob Melanson behind the goal, backhand in front, turn aside,
- 0:04Speaker 1: Ty Nelson scores!
- 0:09Speaker 2: Ty Nelson in the high slot, follows up the play,
- 0:14Speaker 2: steps into a twisted wrister, and with just four seconds
- 0:18Speaker 2: to play in the first, the.
- 0:19Speaker 3: Kraken double their lead, 2-0.
- 0:22Speaker 4: Ty Nelson jumped on a loose puck there, but that
- 0:25Speaker 4: all started behind the net. Jacob Alonso forechecking hard, knocks
- 0:30Speaker 4: his guy off the puck, gets the puck out to
- 0:32Speaker 4: the front of the net, and it's a puck that's
- 0:34Speaker 4: mishandled that goes right out to Ty Nelson.
- 0:37Speaker 3: He finds a top corner, 2-0 Seattle.
- 0:40Speaker 1: 2.35, the play of the period, crack it, get loose.
- 0:42Speaker 3: In front, they score! Jake O'Brien! Bottom of the left
- 0:49Speaker 3: wing circle.
- 0:52Speaker 1: In tight with some heavy traffic and pressure on top
- 0:56Speaker 1: of him. And the Kraken get the insurance goal back
- 0:59Speaker 1: for two with 2.35 left in regulation.
- 1:03Speaker 4: Yeah, Ben Myers with a good forecheck. Jake Melanson with
- 1:05Speaker 4: a steal from behind the net. Finds O'Brien posted up
- 1:08Speaker 4: just above the blue paint. Puts it right on his tape.
- 1:12Speaker 4: He's got the fourth goal of the game for.
- 1:13Speaker 3: Two, Kraken.
- 1:14Speaker 5: Welcome to Kraken This Morning, a presentation of the Kraken
- 1:18Speaker 5: Audio Network and Sports Radio 93.3 KJR-FM. Here's Mike Benton.
- 1:25Speaker 3: Turn around for.
- 1:25Speaker 6: Kraken This Morning as we get set for the Kraken
- 1:27Speaker 6: and the Calgary Flames tonight.
- 1:29Speaker 3: 5 p.m.
- 1:30Speaker 6: Pacific Faceoff from Scotiabank Saddledome. Everett Fitzhugh, Al Koniski will
- 1:34Speaker 6: be in Calgary. I will join you once again from
- 1:37Speaker 6: Network Central as the Kraken. So far, so good. Now
- 1:41Speaker 6: to a 1-0 record after they beat the Canucks last night, 4-2.
- 1:45Speaker 6: Your final score with goals from Yanni Newman, Ty Nelson,
- 1:48Speaker 6: Logan Morrison.
- 1:49Speaker 3: And Jake O'Brien. As we said, Everett and I will
- 1:52Speaker 3: be in the booth.
- 1:53Speaker 6: I'll be back in studio, but for now, Everett and
- 1:55Speaker 6: I are in the same place because of the magic
- 1:58Speaker 6: of technology. We are technically doing this here after a
- 2:01Speaker 6: wrap-up from... the preseason opener from Climate Pledge Arena. So,
- 2:05Speaker 6: Everett joins me right now.
- 2:07Speaker 1: You peeled back the curtain, man. You broke the fourth wall.
- 2:09Speaker 1: We could have easily.
- 2:11Speaker 6: If they could do this in the Wizard of Oz,
- 2:13Speaker 6: we can do this as well in the land of broadcasting.
- 2:17Speaker 6: So far, so good. 1-0 preseason record. And we don't
- 2:19Speaker 6: make it so much, Everett, about the wins and losses here,
- 2:22Speaker 6: but more or less how young players and fringe players, perhaps,
- 2:26Speaker 6: are learning how to play the game and play it
- 2:28Speaker 6: here at the Kraken Waste. So, overall, what are your
- 2:30Speaker 6: thoughts after night one?
- 2:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I thought the first preseason game last night, tonight,
- 2:36Speaker 1: was what we expected, what we were looking for, at
- 2:40Speaker 1: least from my money, what we were looking for out
- 2:42Speaker 1: of this team. I think the players that scored, and
- 2:45Speaker 1: Al and I talked about it, you had Yanni Newman scoring,
- 2:49Speaker 1: you had Jake O'Brien getting a goal, you had Ty Nelson,
- 2:53Speaker 1: Logan Morrison. I think for those players in particular, Yanni Newman,
- 2:58Speaker 1: you wanted to see him take a step from last season.
- 3:02Speaker 1: I thought he's looked really good in preseason. I thought
- 3:04Speaker 1: that he's been battling a lot more. I know Lane's
- 3:07Speaker 1: liked how he's looked so far in preseason and training camp.
- 3:11Speaker 1: I think the likes of a Logan Morrison, a Jagger Furcus,
- 3:15Speaker 1: a Ty Nelson, those are players that I think are
- 3:18Speaker 1: on the fringe of last cuts in camp slash first
- 3:23Speaker 1: call-ups out of Coachella this year. Maybe they find their
- 3:27Speaker 1: way in the 20 games-ish depending on what happens. But
- 3:32Speaker 1: we've been hearing so much about the rookie class, the
- 3:38Speaker 1: development pipeline, the prospect pool.
- 3:42Speaker 3: In the Kraken organization.
- 3:44Speaker 1: You know, top seven, top ten prospect pool consistently in
- 3:48Speaker 1: the history of this team. So now you're starting to
- 3:50Speaker 1: see the young players develop. You're seeing a lot more
- 3:53Speaker 1: young players performing and playing. You look at Winterton, Melanson,
- 3:57Speaker 1: Fisker-Molgaard from Last year, Nikkei Coco, Victor Osman, all these
- 4:02Speaker 1: guys have gotten little tastes of the NHL, and the
- 4:06Speaker 1: kids are all right. So I thought night one was
- 4:09Speaker 1: exactly what you wanted to see from them. I thought
- 4:12Speaker 1: from a team perspective, they had a 3-0 lead. They
- 4:15Speaker 1: gave up two. They were able to calm things down,
- 4:17Speaker 1: put them away. Al and I alluded to it during
- 4:19Speaker 1: the broadcast a bit. For me, I don't want to
- 4:22Speaker 1: go 4-0 in the preseason, or if you do go
- 4:25Speaker 1: 4-0 in the preseason... what you need to do is
- 4:30Speaker 1: you need to make them close. You don't want four
- 4:32Speaker 1: blowout wins, right? I would love to win a game
- 4:35Speaker 1: for nothing. And then I want to win a game 3-1.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Then I want to have an overtime. But tonight, I
- 4:40Speaker 1: think this is the Kraken were able to bend, not break.
- 4:44Speaker 1: And ultimately, they got the win in a game that
- 4:46Speaker 1: doesn't matter in the results. But It'll go a long
- 4:49Speaker 1: way in establishing good habits for this team.
- 4:51Speaker 6: When you look under the hood, I think the Kraken
- 4:53Speaker 6: would be very satisfied if they can recreate the same
- 4:56Speaker 6: kind of habits that they had from night number one
- 4:58Speaker 6: here into night number two. First things first, shot attempts
- 5:02Speaker 6: at five on five, 52 for the Kraken, 28 for
- 5:04Speaker 6: the Canucks. And Oscar Fisker, mole guard, we'll see how
- 5:08Speaker 6: long he hangs around here in the preseason and Perhaps
- 5:12Speaker 6: if there are eight players 23 years of age or
- 5:15Speaker 6: younger forward-wise on this roster, he could very much be
- 5:19Speaker 6: in the mix here because of this one note that
- 5:21Speaker 6: at least caught my attention.
- 5:23Speaker 3: 15-6.
- 5:24Speaker 6: That was the number for shot attempts at 5-on-5 when
- 5:29Speaker 6: his line was on the ice.
- 5:31Speaker 3: Him, Yanni Newman, and Freddie Gaudreau.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I think Oscar Fisker-Mulgaard is this year's Ryan Winterton,
- 5:38Speaker 1: Jacob Melanson. Those two guys last year, again, final cuts
- 5:43Speaker 1: slash made the team out of camp, but you were
- 5:47Speaker 1: wondering where they were going to fit in. I think
- 5:49Speaker 1: Oscar Fisker-Mulgaard this year, after his cup of coffee last year,
- 5:52Speaker 1: I asked him this morning at the press conference what
- 5:57Speaker 1: he learned in the summer, what he took back in
- 5:59Speaker 1: the offseason. I think he's that candidate this year to
- 6:03Speaker 1: have that breakout training camp. I loved his game. You
- 6:06Speaker 1: mentioned the shot attempts. He's a player that I know
- 6:10Speaker 1: they are very, very high on. They love Oscar Fisker-Mullegaard,
- 6:15Speaker 1: not only on the ice, but he is just a
- 6:18Speaker 1: genuine gem of a human being.
- 6:21Speaker 3: He is a sweetheart of a man.
- 6:23Speaker 1: And it's so easy to root for him, but he's
- 6:26Speaker 1: also good.
- 6:27Speaker 3: And he works hard. He's good at what he does.
- 6:30Speaker 1: So I see a very long leash, a very long runway,
- 6:36Speaker 1: and a lot of opportunity for him.
- 6:38Speaker 6: It is not easy getting used to a new culture
- 6:40Speaker 6: like he has, but doing it at that age, I
- 6:42Speaker 6: mentioned just giving him credit and a compliment back when
- 6:45Speaker 6: rookie camp began. I couldn't imagine doing this at his
- 6:48Speaker 6: age as well. I was just trying to find my
- 6:49Speaker 6: way in life, like when I was like 19, 20,
- 6:51Speaker 6: 21 years of age, even back in California as well.
- 6:55Speaker 6: He is a human being operating at a much, much, much,
- 6:59Speaker 6: much higher level. But as far as on ice play,
- 7:02Speaker 6: Certainly impressive.
- 7:03Speaker 1: And that line was good tonight, too. I thought Freddie
- 7:06Speaker 1: and Yanni, again, we talked a little bit about Yanni.
- 7:08Speaker 1: I thought Freddie did really well.
- 7:09Speaker 3: A player.
- 7:12Speaker 1: In Gaudreau that is primarily, you know, a bottom six role.
- 7:17Speaker 1: But we've seen him bumped up. We've seen him elevated up.
- 7:20Speaker 1: And I thought tonight playing on that line with those two,
- 7:24Speaker 1: he was the calming veteran presence. I think he did
- 7:26Speaker 1: a really good job. of covering for the few mistakes
- 7:31Speaker 1: that those two did make. I thought it was a
- 7:33Speaker 1: relatively clean game for that line, but I really liked
- 7:38Speaker 1: the game that Freddie played as well.
- 7:40Speaker 6: Jacob Melanson, four hits, two assists. That's not too bad
- 7:45Speaker 6: if you're getting that from time to time when he's
- 7:47Speaker 6: in this lineup, assuming that he does make this team.
- 7:49Speaker 6: But Logan Morrison as well, the game-winning goal, three hits
- 7:52Speaker 6: as well. What are your takeaways from that?
- 7:54Speaker 1: I thought Jacob Melanson, you know, he picked up where
- 7:57Speaker 1: he left off. And I think this year he's trying
- 8:00Speaker 1: to add another element to his game. We've seen the
- 8:04Speaker 1: fourth line grind. We've seen the hits. We've seen the fights.
- 8:08Speaker 1: But I think he wants to add a bit more
- 8:12Speaker 1: smoothness to his game. He wants to add more offense
- 8:15Speaker 1: to his game. I'm going to say it again. And
- 8:19Speaker 1: I hope I don't get flamed. And I hope I don't,
- 8:21Speaker 1: you know, this guy doesn't know what he's talking about.
- 8:24Speaker 1: I would love for Jacob Melanson to ultimately be the
- 8:29Speaker 1: Kraken version of Tom Wilson. Now, I understand you've got
- 8:32Speaker 1: Tom Wilson who's got first-line talent but fourth-line grit. You know,
- 8:37Speaker 1: maybe Melanson is not going to get you 80 points,
- 8:40Speaker 1: but maybe he can be a Yanni Gord type of player.
- 8:43Speaker 1: He can be a 40-point guy consistently 30 points in
- 8:47Speaker 1: this league, but he's also going to hit. He's going
- 8:49Speaker 1: to work hard. He's going to grind. He can protect players.
- 8:52Speaker 1: some guys. He'll stand up for some guys. So I
- 8:55Speaker 1: think I would like to see Melanson this year maybe
- 8:59Speaker 1: sniff 20 points. I want to see him add some
- 9:02Speaker 1: more offense to his game. I love this game here tonight.
- 9:07Speaker 1: And Logan Morrison, he is a guy who I think,
- 9:11Speaker 1: I asked Derek Laxtal, head coach of the Firebirds earlier today,
- 9:16Speaker 1: what do you need from Logan Morrison?
- 9:18Speaker 3: He said the one thing about him, his offense is good.
- 9:21Speaker 1: He can score but he's just got to work on
- 9:23Speaker 1: the skating.
- 9:23Speaker 3: He's got the foot speed, but it's just the ability.
- 9:27Speaker 1: It's the technical side of the skating that he's got
- 9:31Speaker 1: to work on. But they feel Logan Morrison might be
- 9:35Speaker 1: right there. So big showings for them. I would expect
- 9:40Speaker 1: one or both of them to go tomorrow in Calgary
- 9:44Speaker 1: and then maybe even get another game coming up. I mean,
- 9:47Speaker 1: Morrison led the Coachella Valley Firebirds last year in scoring,
- 9:50Speaker 1: so you know what you're going to get. Out of him,
- 9:53Speaker 1: Jacob Melanson, I think he wants a full NHL season, 60,
- 9:56Speaker 1: 70-plus games under his belt this year as well, so
- 10:00Speaker 1: I like them both.
- 10:01Speaker 6: I think to your point as well on Jacob Melanson,
- 10:03Speaker 6: it's not just the plays that he can make with force,
- 10:05Speaker 6: but also some depth touch as well that he has,
- 10:08Speaker 6: plus the brainpower to really analyze what he has and
- 10:11Speaker 6: his options to create offense. It goes right back here,
- 10:14Speaker 6: I think, to the Ty Nelson goal when the Kraken
- 10:17Speaker 6: made this one 2-0 at the end of the first
- 10:19Speaker 6: period of play. Melanson was right behind the net, then
- 10:22Speaker 6: tucks it right off the pads of Nikita Toto, Pilo.
- 10:25Speaker 6: That's great presence of mind that usually a top six
- 10:28Speaker 6: guy has, but the intentional rebounds that create additional chances,
- 10:33Speaker 6: that lined up Ty Nelson, which shows Melanson's starting to
- 10:36Speaker 6: add extra elements.
- 10:38Speaker 3: Here to his game.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Well, and listen, I've said this since day one. I
- 10:42Speaker 1: don't care what league you play in. I don't care
- 10:44Speaker 1: if it's the Quebec Major Junior League that gets a
- 10:47Speaker 1: lot of flack because of the style of hockey that
- 10:51Speaker 1: you play. you don't score 50 goals on accident. You
- 10:56Speaker 1: don't get 100 points on accident, right? Jacob Melanson has
- 11:01Speaker 1: some offense to his game. I think that he also
- 11:04Speaker 1: embraces the physical side, which makes him a much more
- 11:08Speaker 1: employable asset in the National Hockey League. You know, he's
- 11:13Speaker 1: very versatile in that point. But I think that Melanson, again,
- 11:18Speaker 1: he's given the opportunity And, again, last year we saw
- 11:22Speaker 1: Melanson primarily on a fourth-line role, right? What happens this
- 11:26Speaker 1: year if he elevates himself to a third-line role?
- 11:28Speaker 2: Right.
- 11:28Speaker 1: Yanni Gord started his career on the fourth line. He
- 11:32Speaker 1: then bumps up to the third line. He is centering.
- 11:35Speaker 1: He's winning face-offs. Obviously, Melanson's a winger. But he played
- 11:38Speaker 1: himself into a permanent middle six role. Jacob Melanson is
- 11:42Speaker 1: a player that I think can do that as well
- 11:45Speaker 1: with all of the skills.
- 11:46Speaker 3: But it just takes rounding out. He still has.
- 11:49Speaker 1: a lot of raw ability and a lot of raw talent.
- 11:53Speaker 1: He has rounded out enough. He has worked hard enough
- 11:56Speaker 1: to be an everyday NHLer. But now he's got to
- 12:00Speaker 1: chisel and round out some of those rougher edges to
- 12:04Speaker 1: put him in that middle six area, and I think
- 12:06Speaker 1: he's very well capable of doing that.
- 12:08Speaker 6: A lot of our conversation revolved around the young players
- 12:11Speaker 6: here for tonight, but a few veterans who got in there,
- 12:13Speaker 6: and I think the headliner of this one, of course,
- 12:16Speaker 6: Joey Decord shaking off some rust, was good enough, 14
- 12:19Speaker 6: saves on, 14 shots through two periods. A couple of
- 12:22Speaker 6: pucks that leaked off the pads, but really didn't look
- 12:24Speaker 6: out of place at all.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Yeah, and there was nothing too hard about tonight. I mean,
- 12:28Speaker 1: you're going up against mostly Vancouver's AHLers. Atu Ratu was
- 12:33Speaker 1: the only player the Canucks had with 100 or more
- 12:35Speaker 1: games of NHL service, and I think there's two other
- 12:38Speaker 1: guys in their lineup. Elias Pedersen at 98, and there's
- 12:43Speaker 1: another guy in there. that had 95 games of service. But,
- 12:48Speaker 1: you know, you're going up against, you know, a very
- 12:51Speaker 1: young lineup. But still, you have to make the saves.
- 12:54Speaker 1: I thought Joey Decord, when challenged, it was, you know,
- 12:57Speaker 1: vintage Joey Decord, if I can say vintage Joey Decord.
- 13:01Speaker 6: Great save also in the second period.
- 13:02Speaker 1: Great save in the second period. And Al even said it, right?
- 13:06Speaker 1: You need Joey Decord. He needed that game. He needed
- 13:09Speaker 1: to make the saves that he made. He made it
- 13:12Speaker 1: look easy. He got his rhythm back. He got his
- 13:14Speaker 1: flow back. Nothing of real danger. I think the only
- 13:19Speaker 1: kind of, you know, moment that I clutched some pearls
- 13:22Speaker 1: is when Atu Ratu cross-checked Lingren in the back over
- 13:26Speaker 1: top of Decord. We know Decord had the injury last year,
- 13:29Speaker 1: and he obviously, like Joey does, popped up no worse
- 13:33Speaker 1: for wear. But it was a good, clean, no-frills game
- 13:38Speaker 1: from Joey Decord, which in the preseason, you'll love to see.
- 13:42Speaker 6: So the Kraken will face the flames for the first
- 13:45Speaker 6: of two times in preseason.
- 13:47Speaker 1: First of six meetings between now and the 30th of November.
- 13:51Speaker 1: Like the Kraken will be done with their series. Six
- 13:55Speaker 1: total games, two preseason, four regular season. They'll be done
- 13:59Speaker 1: before Halloween, before we set the clocks back.
- 14:01Speaker 6: I think we had this about three years ago with Colorado.
- 14:05Speaker 6: I think we had about probably 83 meetings by the
- 14:07Speaker 6: time we had Thanksgiving.
- 14:08Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what it felt like.
- 14:10Speaker 1: But, you know, Last year, the Saddle Dome was, I'm
- 14:13Speaker 1: going to say this real quick, like growing up as
- 14:16Speaker 1: a hockey fan, just in general, right? I grew up
- 14:19Speaker 1: in Detroit, Joe Louis Arena. It was a dump, but
- 14:22Speaker 1: it was our dump. And I was very fortunate to
- 14:25Speaker 1: live in a place where we got CBC. I got
- 14:27Speaker 1: to grow up. I grew up watching Hockey Night in Canada.
- 14:30Speaker 1: That's how I became an Edmonton Oilers fan as a kid. Sorry,
- 14:33Speaker 1: Kraken fans. I'm all Kraken now. Edmonton really ticks me off.
- 14:37Speaker 1: but you watch Hockey Night in Canada, and you get
- 14:39Speaker 1: to see, you know, I used to watch those games,
- 14:42Speaker 1: Jerome McGinley in the Saddle Dome, watch those Flames teams,
- 14:44Speaker 1: and that was always a building that I just loved watching.
- 14:48Speaker 1: I would play NHL video games, and I love, I
- 14:51Speaker 1: don't know, and now having been in this role now
- 14:55Speaker 1: for five years, going on six years here, I'm going
- 14:58Speaker 1: to miss that building. I mean, the new building's going
- 15:00Speaker 1: to be beautiful, it's going to be great, but we're
- 15:02Speaker 1: losing one of the last real gems here I think, again,
- 15:07Speaker 1: it's a dump, but it's their dump.
- 15:09Speaker 3: Can they put that catwalk in the hockey hole? Oh,
- 15:11Speaker 3: my goodness. I would take the whole thing out. But, yeah,
- 15:15Speaker 3: I'm looking forward to it.
- 15:17Speaker 1: I know I just fully cut you off and mucked
- 15:19Speaker 1: up your whole script here. But I just love that building.
- 15:22Speaker 1: I love old Barnes. The fans have been great to us. And,
- 15:26Speaker 1: you know, that new building is going to be good.
- 15:28Speaker 1: But whenever you open up a new place, there is
- 15:31Speaker 1: a little bit of sterility, you know, in there. new
- 15:34Speaker 1: buildings as as amazing and as great as as rogers
- 15:40Speaker 1: is in edmonton it's still not rexall right as great
- 15:44Speaker 1: as little caesars and as beautiful as little caesars is
- 15:48Speaker 1: in detroit it still isn't the joe um so you're
- 15:52Speaker 1: gonna lose a little bit of that in calgary so
- 15:54Speaker 1: i'm looking forward to going.
- 15:56Speaker 6: Back back to what you're saying i had one chance
- 15:58Speaker 6: to call a game at rexall place oh yeah whl
- 16:01Speaker 6: days and you You can't duplicate this at Rogers, even
- 16:05Speaker 6: as beautiful of a building as it is. You walk
- 16:08Speaker 6: into Rexall Place and go up in that booth, and
- 16:12Speaker 6: you are just completely washed over with the emotions, thinking
- 16:15Speaker 6: of this is where Gretzky was. This is where Messier was,
- 16:19Speaker 6: Paul Coffey, Grant Feer, Glenn Anderson. The same thing goes
- 16:22Speaker 6: here for the Flames, Lanny McDonald, Theo Fleury. The list
- 16:26Speaker 6: goes on and on. You cannot duplicate this. in a
- 16:31Speaker 6: new building. So to be there, it was certainly a pleasure.
- 16:33Speaker 6: And for you guys, it's going to be a fun one.
- 16:35Speaker 6: But tomorrow night, the Flames are going to be coming
- 16:37Speaker 6: in here with a battle on their hands.
- 16:39Speaker 3: Shimon Nemitz, newcomer here from New Jersey.
- 16:41Speaker 6: He and Zane Perak, the youngster, could be battling out
- 16:44Speaker 6: here for tops as far as who's going to run
- 16:47Speaker 6: their power play. But for the Kraken, you mentioned potentially
- 16:50Speaker 6: another young group is going to be going up north here.
- 16:54Speaker 6: If we're betting people, Philip Grubauer, Victor Osman once again,
- 16:57Speaker 6: and then we'll see if they can get dialed in.
- 16:59Speaker 3: Very early as well. Yeah, this is the last show me, right?
- 17:03Speaker 3: This is the last tune-up.
- 17:04Speaker 1: And for a lot of guys, today was their only
- 17:07Speaker 1: show me, their only tune-up, and tomorrow is going to
- 17:10Speaker 1: be their only tune-up. And we're going to see some
- 17:13Speaker 1: cuts made, what's tomorrow, Sunday? Monday morning. I think it's
- 17:17Speaker 1: going to be the off day. So Tuesday, when we're
- 17:19Speaker 1: back at KCI for practice at 930 AM, That group's
- 17:22Speaker 1: going to be, I would venture to say, cut in half,
- 17:26Speaker 1: at least in half from 50, what, 54, maybe down
- 17:32Speaker 1: to like 30-ish.
- 17:34Speaker 3: I mean, you're going to cut that group down quick.
- 17:36Speaker 1: But yeah, Calgary, you know, they are a lot like Vancouver.
- 17:42Speaker 1: A lot of people aren't giving them a lot of
- 17:44Speaker 1: credit going into the season. I think that they're going
- 17:47Speaker 1: to be young. They're inexperienced. Dustin Wolfe is good in goal,
- 17:53Speaker 1: but they're trying to find their way. They have a
- 17:55Speaker 1: lot of good young prospects. I said it during the broadcast,
- 17:59Speaker 1: and I don't know if I agree with it, but
- 18:01Speaker 1: they're putting Kraken and Vancouver and Calgary, they're putting the
- 18:07Speaker 1: three of us in the bottom three in the league.
- 18:09Speaker 1: I just don't know, especially from the Seattle standpoint, if
- 18:13Speaker 1: I'm buying that. Calgary, it's going to be a rebuilding year,
- 18:17Speaker 1: but I don't think they're going to be as bad
- 18:21Speaker 1: as people are projecting and expecting. And for whatever reason,
- 18:25Speaker 1: the Kraken always have a battle on their hands, in
- 18:29Speaker 1: Calgary especially.
- 18:31Speaker 3: So I'm interested to see what that looks like.
- 18:34Speaker 1: It looked like the Kraken last year got the back-to-back,
- 18:38Speaker 1: game two back-to-back monkey off of their back.
- 18:42Speaker 3: Word of the day, back. So we'll see.
- 18:46Speaker 1: But no, tomorrow I'm looking forward to another good performance
- 18:48Speaker 1: from the young guys, and then those first cuts are
- 18:51Speaker 1: going to be made right after the.
- 18:52Speaker 3: Game on Monday.
- 18:53Speaker 1: Guys are going to be going back to their junior teams,
- 18:56Speaker 1: parts unknown, and.
- 18:59Speaker 3: We'll see. But tomorrow's game, just as important as today, you.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Can't argue the back-to-back because I think that there will be,
- 19:08Speaker 1: if there aren't 20 new players tomorrow, there will be 17.
- 19:11Speaker 3: I think it will be mostly a brand-new team.
- 19:14Speaker 6: Potentially one last chance here for the youngsters to make
- 19:16Speaker 6: a big impression before it's cut down day as far
- 19:19Speaker 6: as how deep those cuts go. Have to wait and see,
- 19:22Speaker 6: but this is part of the potential big story. Lionsburg
- 19:25Speaker 6: in here for this Sunday matchup. Everett, you got a
- 19:27Speaker 6: plan to catch.

- 19:32Speaker 3: to it.
