- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to KFI AM six forty the Bill Handle
- 0:04Speaker 1: Show on demand on the iHeartRadio.
- 0:06Speaker 2: App and now Handle on the news. Ladies and gentlemen,
- 0:18Speaker 2: here's not Bill Handle.
- 0:25Speaker 3: Hey, KFI AM six forty live everywhere on that there
- 0:30Speaker 3: iHeartRadio app. Good morning it is Uh, it didn't in man,
- 0:36Speaker 3: I got these.
- 0:38Speaker 4: Yeah, you sound like me.
- 0:39Speaker 3: I was listening this morning, Amy, and I'm like, she's
- 0:42Speaker 3: drunk off that pa juice or whatever she's drinking.
- 0:45Speaker 4: No, it's the oatmeal. No, I heard, confused. I know.
- 0:49Speaker 5: Once you said p I was out.
- 0:50Speaker 4: It's like green peas.
- 0:52Speaker 5: I understand. It's protein. Peace, everything's protein right now, I know.
- 0:56Speaker 4: And so I was on the bandwagon thinking I gotta
- 0:59Speaker 4: I gotta get more protein. And so I'm having oatmeal
- 1:02Speaker 4: that has protein, oatmeal, and it tastes like green peas.
- 1:06Speaker 5: It tastes like protein.
- 1:08Speaker 4: It's not very good.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Protein has a very specific flavor to it.
- 1:12Speaker 4: Not in meat, it doesn't.
- 1:14Speaker 3: And in meat, no meat, right, But like if you
- 1:17Speaker 3: eat crickets.
- 1:19Speaker 4: Or a you won't do that.
- 1:22Speaker 5: Why, I got a lot of protein in them.
- 1:25Speaker 4: They've got built in toothpicks.
- 1:27Speaker 3: Yeah, well if you yeah, the legs on a grasshopper
- 1:31Speaker 3: if you've ever had a grasshopper taco or something like that,
- 1:33Speaker 3: and it's the little the shin you can use to
- 1:36Speaker 3: kind of pick your tea afterwards. Any who, Neil Savadra
- 1:40Speaker 3: here with the Morning Crew. Happy to be here. Codo's
- 1:44Speaker 3: out today. Sam is filling in, but Am and Anne
- 1:48Speaker 3: and Will and Amy are here and we're going to
- 1:51Speaker 3: do an Independence Day Eve program today. It's going to
- 1:56Speaker 3: be a party. Yeah, we'll talk a little bit about history.
- 1:59Speaker 3: We'll talk talk a little bit about the flag. I
- 2:01Speaker 3: have some thoughts on that. And our good buddy Bob
- 2:06Speaker 3: Gerr is coming into the studio today along with Frank Woodward,
- 2:12Speaker 3: the director of Bob's documentary, which is fabulous Living by Design,
- 2:20Speaker 3: and it's coming on PBS. So it was out in
- 2:25Speaker 3: theaters for a bit and I've had a chance to
- 2:28Speaker 3: see it. Bob Gerr is one of the original imagineers,
- 2:32Speaker 3: designed the Matta Horn, designed Autopia, designed every vehicle if
- 2:37Speaker 3: it has wheels. He designed the mono rail.
- 2:39Speaker 4: He designed Mono rail doesn't have wheels, does it?
- 2:43Speaker 5: It does?
- 2:43Speaker 1: Sure?
- 2:43Speaker 5: Does?
- 2:44Speaker 4: I can't see.
- 2:45Speaker 3: Him well no, because he designed it nicely interesting thing
- 2:49Speaker 3: interestingly enough, And we'll get into this possibly later. Is
- 2:53Speaker 3: that kind of space age vibe that field of the
- 2:57Speaker 3: mono rail that still still works today. It was a
- 3:03Speaker 3: design pattern, he said, if you use certain geometric shapes
- 3:06Speaker 3: and certain design principles that they last forever. But he's
- 3:12Speaker 3: just a fascinating guy. He's ninety four years old. He's
- 3:15Speaker 3: sharp as a whip and just a fascinating guy. So
- 3:19Speaker 3: we're going to take an hour to talk to Frank
- 3:22Speaker 3: and to Bob Gerr about the movie and the documentary
- 3:27Speaker 3: and all these things and just his history.
- 3:30Speaker 5: Fascinating.
- 3:30Speaker 3: The more I learned about Bob, the more I fall
- 3:34Speaker 3: in love with this guy. He's just a really neat
- 3:37Speaker 3: human being. So we'll get into that coming up a
- 3:39Speaker 3: little bit later. And we're going to ease in. Maybe
- 3:42Speaker 3: you're on the road today, We're going to ease into it.
- 3:44Speaker 3: Gary and Shannon's going to come up in a little bit.
- 3:46Speaker 3: You know, it's Shannon's birthday. She's a star spangled pain
- 3:51Speaker 3: in the ass and it's her birthday today, so we're
- 3:56Speaker 3: going to celebrate that with fireworks. Inside. She likes fire
- 4:01Speaker 3: and all that stuff.
- 4:03Speaker 4: She's trying to get me to go on the roof
- 4:04Speaker 4: and set off fireworks today.
- 4:06Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 4:07Speaker 3: Now that's kind of that tracks, that tracks she likes
- 4:12Speaker 3: fire Yeah.
- 4:13Speaker 5: Alrighty, so it's going to be a good day. Lots stuff.
- 4:16Speaker 3: Monks and merrill are live today and you've got plenty
- 4:19Speaker 3: of stuff still going on as you drive to wherever
- 4:22Speaker 3: you're going for the holidays. All right, let's get started
- 4:26Speaker 3: with handle on the news. Lead story, Oh guy, duh.
- 4:35Speaker 5: Good song, bad story.
- 4:37Speaker 3: California man pleads guilty descending false ransom notes in Nancy
- 4:41Speaker 3: Guthrie's disappearance. So listening to more and more about this, obviously, Amy,
- 4:46Speaker 3: you've you've had to be on top of this as well.
- 4:50Speaker 3: It seems that yes, there are some fake ransom notes
- 4:55Speaker 3: and the like that came from h.
- 5:00Speaker 5: Derek. Is it Kaya or is it.
- 5:04Speaker 4: I'm saying, okay, that's from Hawthorn.
- 5:07Speaker 5: Yeah, from Hawthorne.
- 5:08Speaker 3: So local guy forty two years old pleaded guilty two
- 5:12Speaker 3: felony counts of sending a ransom demand across state lines.
- 5:16Speaker 3: So that's bad. But they still say that some other
- 5:21Speaker 3: ones are being evaluated by the FBI, and we don't know.
- 5:25Speaker 4: Well, but the main three now the FBI is saying
- 5:28Speaker 4: they're all false. The first one demanded the cryptocurrency.
- 5:31Speaker 5: So what about her being dead?
- 5:33Speaker 4: The second one, which she was just talking about last week.
- 5:37Speaker 4: Remember Savannah Guthrie was just talking about that one last
- 5:40Speaker 4: week that they she kind of acknowledged that they had
- 5:43Speaker 4: told her that her mother had died, and she said,
- 5:46Speaker 4: we're still willing to pay if you let us know
- 5:48Speaker 4: where she is. But now the FBI is saying that
- 5:50Speaker 4: one wasn't real either.
- 5:51Speaker 3: Yeah, so that the top three big ones that I
- 5:55Speaker 3: think were the ones that hit the news the most
- 5:58Speaker 3: are now said to be fake.
- 6:02Speaker 4: So sad, I can't believe. I mean it was it's
- 6:04Speaker 4: five months ago and still just no sign of her.
- 6:07Speaker 3: It's horrific. We have a morning process. Obviously, everybody mourns differently,
- 6:12Speaker 3: but there's something about the the you know that those
- 6:16Speaker 3: those movies that are intense that always deal with like
- 6:20Speaker 3: the disappearance of.
- 6:22Speaker 5: People. You remember that.
- 6:25Speaker 3: I think it was Weapons last year, the movie where
- 6:30Speaker 3: kids just disappeared started disappearing. There's something about not having
- 6:33Speaker 3: the body, not knowing and that emptiness of wondering where
- 6:38Speaker 3: they're at that I understand why they would go, hey,
- 6:41Speaker 3: we'll pay the ransom. We just want to be able
- 6:44Speaker 3: to bury our loved one.
- 6:45Speaker 4: Well, yeah, because there's always do you hold out hope
- 6:48Speaker 4: or do you give up hope? And then if you
- 6:50Speaker 4: give up, what if they turn up alive and you've
- 6:53Speaker 4: given up your search for them, and then that's you know,
- 6:55Speaker 4: then you've got this massive guilt or something like that.
- 6:57Speaker 4: I mean, it's just a horrible place to be emotionally.
- 7:00Speaker 3: I think hope is magical, you know it is. This
- 7:06Speaker 3: is going to be a blanket statement. I'm sorry. As
- 7:09Speaker 3: a theologian, I've I've talked to a lot of people
- 7:13Speaker 3: about a lot of things for more than thirty years
- 7:17Speaker 3: of my life, and one thing that I find in
- 7:21Speaker 3: atheists is the lack of hope often. Now some people
- 7:26Speaker 3: are going to get pissed off, probably that I said that,
- 7:29Speaker 3: But let me clarify that does the atheists wonderful people,
- 7:34Speaker 3: humanists wonderful people, nothing like that. Some of them to
- 7:37Speaker 3: me are kinder and gentler and get the spirit of
- 7:42Speaker 3: Christ more than Christians, to be honest with you, But
- 7:46Speaker 3: there is this lack of hope. There's no I don't know,
- 7:49Speaker 3: there's no worry tree to hang stuff on, there's no
- 7:52Speaker 3: that to me seems so empty. So hope I think
- 7:57Speaker 3: is a huge thing. All right, let us move on.
- 8:03Speaker 4: The Russian war rages on Ukraine's air force is Russia
- 8:08Speaker 4: launched nearly five hundred drones and more than seventy missiles
- 8:13Speaker 4: toward the country in a massive combined strike that simultaneously
- 8:17Speaker 4: targeted the capitol from different directions. Most of the missiles
- 8:21Speaker 4: were intercepted along with the drones, but thirty three got through.
- 8:26Speaker 4: Moscow's military said the assault was a retaliation for Ukrainian
- 8:31Speaker 4: attacks on its own civilian infrastructure. As of yesterday afternoon
- 8:36Speaker 4: Ukraine time, twenty one people had been confirmed killed and
- 8:39Speaker 4: at least eighty five others were hurt.
- 8:44Speaker 3: The Save America Act is dead, so says Senator Tom Tills.
- 8:48Speaker 5: Tillis rather from North Carolina.
- 8:52Speaker 3: He says, the Save America Act, President Trump's number one
- 8:56Speaker 3: new Morouno legislative priority is dead on Capitol Hill because
- 9:01Speaker 3: there's just not enough time to change election laws before
- 9:05Speaker 3: the midterm, even if Senator Senate Republicans muster up those
- 9:11Speaker 3: sixty votes for the legislation, which is still unlikely.
- 9:15Speaker 5: So that may beda.
- 9:18Speaker 4: I know somebody who is going to be ticked off
- 9:21Speaker 4: about that.
- 9:23Speaker 5: Who's that.
- 9:25Speaker 4: The Donald reflecting on vandalism. A grand jury in DC
- 9:34Speaker 4: has indicted a former Olympic canoeist for allegedly vandalizing the
- 9:40Speaker 4: newly refurbished Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool. David Herne is sixty
- 9:44Speaker 4: seven years old. He's facing a felony account of malicious
- 9:47Speaker 4: destruction of property tied to the discovery on June nineteenth
- 9:52Speaker 4: that there are issues with a reflecting pool. Some are
- 9:57Speaker 4: saying it just wasn't done correctly. Others in the Trump
- 10:00Speaker 4: administration are saying it was vandalized. National Park Service employees
- 10:04Speaker 4: say they saw the guy trying to rip a new
- 10:06Speaker 4: liner that had been installed in the basin. His attorneys
- 10:09Speaker 4: say he is the latest victim of an outrageous prosecution
- 10:12Speaker 4: brought on by alas of President Trump. If he's convicted,
- 10:16Speaker 4: ten years in prison is possible?
- 10:18Speaker 3: Come on, Okay, they I saw video and photos When
- 10:25Speaker 3: the surface is floating to the top, that's free game.
- 10:28Speaker 3: That's not vandalism. I I poo pooed when it was
- 10:32Speaker 3: just the algae. It's like, you know what, that's going
- 10:36Speaker 3: to happen. But when Trump puffs his chest out about
- 10:41Speaker 3: something and he talks about being this great builder and
- 10:45Speaker 3: everything and I've been to his hotels before. They're gorgeous
- 10:50Speaker 3: and they're incredibly well run. But when you do that,
- 10:55Speaker 3: you put highlight on it. And I don't know, there's
- 10:59Speaker 3: so thing about it that ended up just being, you know,
- 11:05Speaker 3: I don't know, put too much attention on it. If
- 11:07Speaker 3: this guy ripped a piece off because he hates Donald Trump,
- 11:10Speaker 3: I think that's stupid, but I don't think it deserves
- 11:14Speaker 3: ten fricking years in jail. And the guy's an sixty
- 11:18Speaker 3: four year old or something like that. Olympiad, it's it's
- 11:25Speaker 3: a pool man. It's the guy didn't write his name
- 11:28Speaker 3: in spray paint on the Washington Monument. So anyways, we'll
- 11:32Speaker 3: be back with more of handle on the news. You
- 11:35Speaker 3: can't buy AM six forty live everywhere on the iHeartRadio app.
- 11:40Speaker 3: Of course, everybody is excited. The holiday is here, and
- 11:43Speaker 3: by that I mean Shannon Farren's birthdays today.
- 11:46Speaker 5: So I went out.
- 11:48Speaker 3: I got my Shannon Farren birthday tree. I'm finishing up
- 11:53Speaker 3: my Shannon Farren birthday shopping. But I don't know about you, guys,
- 12:00Speaker 3: just feel that Shannon Farren's birthday has gotten so commercial
- 12:04Speaker 3: this year.
- 12:05Speaker 5: Shannon miss really has become commeout.
- 12:07Speaker 3: Of tune, right, I hate that used to be about
- 12:14Speaker 3: on Angel's wings things like that. But well I'm still celebrating,
- 12:20Speaker 3: So maybe I'm the hypocrite, you know what I'm saying?
- 12:22Speaker 5: All right?
- 12:23Speaker 3: Back to handle on the news, Shall we go? Residents
- 12:28Speaker 3: demand warehouse be shut down? Of course, this is the
- 12:32Speaker 3: warehouse that was in Boyle Heights. There continued that was
- 12:37Speaker 3: that fire, that was the frozen storage.
- 12:42Speaker 5: And it went out and then.
- 12:44Speaker 3: It flamed back up. And if you were listening to Conway,
- 12:52Speaker 3: he had been talking about it and how you know
- 12:57Speaker 3: how problematic it was to have the solar panels on
- 13:02Speaker 3: there with no place to walk and just a frustrating situation.
- 13:09Speaker 3: Well what's happened because of all that? When you have
- 13:12Speaker 3: food frozen good, cooked good in the middle not so good,
- 13:18Speaker 3: and so you've got millions of pounds of rotting food.
- 13:25Speaker 3: I think maybe half of it might have been saved.
- 13:29Speaker 3: But they're talking about the neighbors are saying this putrid odor,
- 13:33Speaker 3: there's rats, there's all these things, and.
- 13:38Speaker 5: They want it gone. They want it gone.
- 13:41Speaker 3: Chanting in the crowd, Hey say, Vayan, they should go.
- 13:51Speaker 4: Cruising is great unless unless there's an outbreak of neuro virus.
- 14:00Speaker 4: There has been another one. More than one hundred passengers
- 14:02Speaker 4: got sick in a neuro virus outbreak on the Ruby
- 14:06Speaker 4: Princess Cruise ship. It departed from California last month and
- 14:10Speaker 4: then just arrived back in port in San Francisco yesterday.
- 14:15Speaker 4: The ship is now undergoing cleaning and disinfection before departing
- 14:19Speaker 4: for its next voyage. That's gonna be that actually already happened,
- 14:27Speaker 4: maybe it's today, but any Yeah, they clean it, they disinfected,
- 14:30Speaker 4: and then they're out again. One hundred two passengers and
- 14:34Speaker 4: twenty three crew members got sick. That's a lot, but
- 14:37Speaker 4: there are three thousand passengers on board, so just one
- 14:42Speaker 4: hundred said they had vomiting and diarrhea.
- 14:46Speaker 3: Oh so you're playing the percentages now in the you're like, hey,
- 14:50Speaker 3: that's not bad.
- 14:51Speaker 4: I hate that this happens because cruising, to me is
- 14:54Speaker 4: just such a fun way to travel.
- 14:55Speaker 5: I'll tell you, I don't know why.
- 14:57Speaker 3: I just went through puberty there. I just turned into
- 15:00Speaker 3: Gary Huffin. He does the same thing. We have similar voices.
- 15:06Speaker 3: They crack sometimes. To me, a cruise is like having
- 15:11Speaker 3: a lovely hotel with every amenity you could possibly happen
- 15:16Speaker 3: or want that just happens to move with you to
- 15:21Speaker 3: the different places. It's like the best of all worlds
- 15:26Speaker 3: because you have everything. You don't have to keep packing
- 15:30Speaker 3: and unpacking and getting on a plane to go to
- 15:33Speaker 3: a new destination. Theoretically, it's the perfect way to experience
- 15:38Speaker 3: different places. But you get stories like this, and it
- 15:43Speaker 3: becomes frustrating because to me, the cruises I've been on
- 15:48Speaker 3: were perfectly lovely and wonderful, and.
- 15:52Speaker 5: I thought they were very cool. But you know, what
- 15:55Speaker 5: can you do? Neurovirus? Is that the same virus? Is
- 15:58Speaker 5: that what they get in hospital sometimes? What's the one
- 16:02Speaker 5: that they get in a hospital?
- 16:03Speaker 4: No staph infections?
- 16:05Speaker 5: Well, staph infection.
- 16:06Speaker 4: Sure, I don't hear about neurovirus as that's the that's
- 16:10Speaker 4: the throwing.
- 16:10Speaker 5: Up that from memory.
- 16:12Speaker 3: But there's something that I know that they get in
- 16:15Speaker 3: hospitals sometimes because of the fact that you know they're
- 16:18Speaker 3: dealing with six thick people death. Yeah, that happens in
- 16:24Speaker 3: hospitals as well.
- 16:25Speaker 5: Bad. That's a not a good thing. This crazy story.
- 16:31Speaker 3: When I heard about it, I you know, Claremont is
- 16:35Speaker 3: such a beautiful area. You've never been I guess that's
- 16:40Speaker 3: considered foothills, right, they're off of the two ten. It's lovely,
- 16:46Speaker 3: it's what.
- 16:46Speaker 5: It's a lovely little city.
- 16:48Speaker 3: Oh, it's beautiful and people are great, and they have
- 16:51Speaker 3: a great food scene, all kinds of stuff. Well, a
- 16:53Speaker 3: man and a woman devastated by the murder of their
- 16:57Speaker 3: four month old daughter. We talked about this early in
- 17:00Speaker 3: the week at a Claremont day care facility, and of course,
- 17:04Speaker 3: as parents, they want, you know, answers. On June twenty ninth,
- 17:09Speaker 3: you had the Claremont Police Department responding to the fourteen
- 17:13Speaker 3: hundred block of Linoak Drive reports of a medical emergency.
- 17:19Speaker 3: So they arrived, the authorities look and they determined that
- 17:22Speaker 3: a juvenile had thrown the infant to the floor inside
- 17:26Speaker 3: this residence. There baby taken to Promoning val Pomona Valley Hospital,
- 17:32Speaker 3: transferred to Children's Hospital of Orange County, and she later
- 17:40Speaker 3: succumbed to those injuries. Well, there is a boy who
- 17:46Speaker 3: is seventeen years old with autism that is now being
- 17:50Speaker 3: accused in this murder. And they're saying that the child,
- 17:57Speaker 3: and this is rough, sorry, folks, had bruises all over
- 18:02Speaker 3: her body. Her head was fractured.
- 18:05Speaker 5: And.
- 18:08Speaker 3: They don't even it's unclear as to why the child,
- 18:12Speaker 3: the seventeen year old brother was at the facility, which
- 18:15Speaker 3: is intended for children eight years old and younger. And
- 18:19Speaker 3: there's a lot of questions that need to be answered
- 18:21Speaker 3: on that. You hate stories like that for a bunch
- 18:26Speaker 3: of reasons. One a child died, number one, but two.
- 18:29Speaker 3: Autism is still one of those things that is not
- 18:32Speaker 3: completely understood by the masses, and you don't know what
- 18:39Speaker 3: other issues were involved there, and you don't want to
- 18:43Speaker 3: put it on all of autism when people are already
- 18:47Speaker 3: afraid sometimes of that as well. So sad story all
- 18:51Speaker 3: the way around. You want to hit one more amy
- 18:55Speaker 3: before we go to news.
- 18:57Speaker 4: Sure, go ahead, drink the Waterdreds of people in Korea
- 19:00Speaker 4: Town can now safely use their tap water again. A
- 19:04Speaker 4: boil water notice was issued on Wednesday after a routine
- 19:09Speaker 4: test turned up E. Coli samples in the water supply,
- 19:12Speaker 4: so they said don't drink it, don't use it for cooking,
- 19:15Speaker 4: don't use it to brush your teeth at all. About
- 19:18Speaker 4: four hundred and sixty people were told to boil their
- 19:20Speaker 4: water or use bottled water, but that order has been
- 19:23Speaker 4: lifted now that the testing has come back clear.
- 19:26Speaker 3: We're in east central Los Angeles ourselves, so we're not
- 19:31Speaker 3: far from Ktown, and we were getting calls from people going,
- 19:34Speaker 3: is everything all right with the water, Like, we're fine,
- 19:37Speaker 3: but I wouldn't drive five miles and go get a
- 19:41Speaker 3: glass of water. All right, We'll be back with more
- 19:44Speaker 3: Handle on the news. Neil Servader here with the Morning
- 19:46Speaker 3: Crew handles out today.
- 19:49Speaker 2: You're listening to Bill Handle on demand from KFI AM
- 19:53Speaker 2: six forty.
- 19:56Speaker 3: KFI AM six forty Live everywhere on the heartradio app.
- 20:00Speaker 5: Hey, happy third of July. Rolls off the tongue.
- 20:05Speaker 3: Tomorrow will be celebrating the fourth of July Independence Day,
- 20:10Speaker 3: two hundred and fifty years of this amazing country. Yes,
- 20:14Speaker 3: flaws and all, but amazing country. And England tomorrow will
- 20:20Speaker 3: be celebrating Saturday, so that'll be fun for them. Back
- 20:26Speaker 3: to Handle on the news, shall we go? Handles out today?
- 20:30Speaker 3: Neil s Vader in the Morning Crew with you Trump.
- 20:36Speaker 3: He said, I love when I love when people who
- 20:41Speaker 3: know everything don't know some things.
- 20:43Speaker 5: It's like that I don't know.
- 20:45Speaker 3: Trump says he didn't know about windfall from family's crypto ventures.
- 20:50Speaker 3: It's an interesting fellow, that's for sure. President Donald Trump
- 20:53Speaker 3: says the family's cryptocurrency ventures that helped earn him more
- 20:59Speaker 3: than one point four billion since returning to the White House,
- 21:03Speaker 3: he's just unaware of could be. He seems like somebody
- 21:08Speaker 3: who's got his mind on his money and his money
- 21:10Speaker 3: on his mind to me. But if anybody wants to
- 21:14Speaker 3: flip out about this stuff, just know this. And this
- 21:17Speaker 3: is why I try and tell handle all the time.
- 21:20Speaker 3: It's not just Trump man.
- 21:22Speaker 5: Biden.
- 21:23Speaker 3: People questioned, there's it's a it's a gross business politics.
- 21:28Speaker 5: It just is.
- 21:30Speaker 3: One comedian said, it's a word breakdown politics, Polly meaning
- 21:35Speaker 3: many ticks, blood sucking bugs. Politics, many blood sucking bugs.
- 21:40Speaker 3: That's what it comes down to.
- 21:41Speaker 5: So I haven't heard that before. I like it.
- 21:44Speaker 3: To me, it's just just one of those things where
- 21:46Speaker 3: everybody it's like, oh Trump, this Trump. I'm like, I'm sorry.
- 21:49Speaker 3: He's a little more transparent about the ugliness of things.
- 21:56Speaker 3: But you have a hard time telling me that that
- 22:00Speaker 3: isn't done all the time. You know how Pelosi and that.
- 22:05Speaker 3: Have you ever followed that where you can you can
- 22:09Speaker 3: do your stocks based on whatever Pelosi?
- 22:13Speaker 4: She has become massively wealthy.
- 22:16Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, so it's like, come on, she's just lucky.
- 22:22Speaker 5: Sure, we'll go with that.
- 22:25Speaker 4: Fireworks aren't the only explosive things happening around the AA.
- 22:28Speaker 5: Semi king.
- 22:30Speaker 4: Amy k King, an explosive diarrhea causing parasite, is behind
- 22:36Speaker 4: a surge of summer food poisoning cases. It's cyclosporiasis spoyass.
- 22:45Speaker 4: It's a stomach churning illness caused by a parasite often
- 22:48Speaker 4: found on produces. What you get for eating fruit wash?
- 22:53Speaker 5: Yeah, suckers.
- 22:54Speaker 4: Yeah, it's sick and hundreds of people across more than
- 22:56Speaker 4: seventeen states. According to the CDC and state health data,
- 23:01Speaker 4: Michigan is dealing with a cluster of infections that has
- 23:05Speaker 4: already more than tripled its total case count compared to
- 23:08Speaker 4: last year.
- 23:10Speaker 5: That's the worst.
- 23:11Speaker 4: And they're not even and they don't get the benefit
- 23:13Speaker 4: of being on a cruise.
- 23:14Speaker 3: Yeah, you don't even have pretty scenery, just you and
- 23:19Speaker 3: that porcelain throne. California is going to be transferring one
- 23:24Speaker 3: hundred and thirty six acres of Blues Beach in Mendocino
- 23:30Speaker 3: County And these are the bluffs there, and this is
- 23:35Speaker 3: marking the first time caltrans managed land has been returned
- 23:40Speaker 3: to indigenous tribes.
- 23:42Speaker 5: How cool is that?
- 23:44Speaker 3: So a pretty big deal returning from California the stretch
- 23:48Speaker 3: of rugged Mendocino County coast to the indigenous nations whose ancestors,
- 23:55Speaker 3: you know, once focused on those very shores.
- 24:01Speaker 4: You might not feel it, but crime is down in California.
- 24:05Speaker 4: California's crime rate apparently has dropped to historic lows in
- 24:09Speaker 4: seven or not seven, but several categories.
- 24:13Speaker 5: The number of just shook his head, like, what, excuse me?
- 24:18Speaker 5: What historically? Yeah?
- 24:21Speaker 4: Apparently, well that's according to the press release from Governor
- 24:25Speaker 4: Newsom and Attorney General Rob Bonta. The number of homicides
- 24:29Speaker 4: dropped from sixteen hundred and sixty six to thirteen hundred
- 24:33Speaker 4: and seventy four last year. That's a seventeen and a
- 24:35Speaker 4: half percent discrete decrease. Apparently it's the lowest it's been
- 24:39Speaker 4: since crime recording began six decades ago.
- 24:43Speaker 3: Kind Of hard to sell that when you will have
- 24:46Speaker 3: people I'm not saying this myself, by the way, but
- 24:49Speaker 3: you'll have people saying, well, yes, there was mass reverse migration,
- 24:56Speaker 3: and wouldn't that be an argument for people saying, hey,
- 24:59Speaker 3: there's less crime because there's less illegal immigration. If they're
- 25:09Speaker 3: just interesting that it's I was.
- 25:10Speaker 4: Thinking it was lower because they're not prosecuting as much.
- 25:14Speaker 3: Well, it's hard to it's hard to say that when
- 25:22Speaker 3: it comes to homicide. When you got ten dead bodies,
- 25:27Speaker 3: that there wasn't ten murders. So that's a that's kind
- 25:30Speaker 3: of other crimes, I get it, but homicide's a difficult
- 25:34Speaker 3: one to kind of push under the rug.
- 25:36Speaker 4: In LA, the preliminary data shows that crime rates dropped
- 25:40Speaker 4: to an historic low last year that we haven't seen
- 25:43Speaker 4: since the nineteen sixties. And they're saying that LA is
- 25:47Speaker 4: the safest safest has been in generations. I don't feel it, no, And.
- 25:54Speaker 3: And honestly those are to the people that I don't
- 25:58Speaker 3: know that I would go to you to find facts from.
- 26:01Speaker 3: But I will say this, our feelings can be deceptive too,
- 26:07Speaker 3: that is true, and we can you know, there's a
- 26:09Speaker 3: lot that we're inundated with a lot of garbage. And
- 26:15Speaker 3: you know, Handel always says this about the stock market.
- 26:19Speaker 3: He goes, I don't know how this keeps happening. Well,
- 26:20Speaker 3: maybe things aren't as bad as you think they are
- 26:23Speaker 3: in your head is why it's happening. But when you're
- 26:26Speaker 3: doing gloom about everything and then the stock market's doing well.
- 26:31Speaker 3: You know, stock market does well under your guy, and
- 26:34Speaker 3: you go, hey, look and he's doing everything right. Stock
- 26:37Speaker 3: market does well under a guy you don't like. You're like,
- 26:39Speaker 3: how is this happening?
- 26:40Speaker 4: You know how well it's doing.
- 26:42Speaker 3: It's not.
- 26:42Speaker 4: They're not trading today because it's the holiday. It closed
- 26:45Speaker 4: yesterday up almost six hundred points. It's trading a fifty
- 26:50Speaker 4: two nine hundred.
- 26:52Speaker 5: She whiz.
- 26:57Speaker 3: I put all my stock into beanie babies and I'm broke.
- 27:01Speaker 3: I missed that boat.
- 27:05Speaker 4: You know.
- 27:05Speaker 3: I don't hear much meatloaf these days, but very talented dude,
- 27:13Speaker 3: and it's hard the power ballads and stuff like that.
- 27:17Speaker 3: KFI AM six forty live everywhere on the iHeartRadio app.
- 27:23Speaker 3: Happy Friday, everybody. It is the third of July, so
- 27:27Speaker 3: not only are we celebrating Independence Day eve, but it's
- 27:31Speaker 3: also Shannon Farn's birthday. So it's gonna be great. We've
- 27:35Speaker 3: got a couple of strippers coming. It's gonna be There's
- 27:39Speaker 3: a cop, I think a firefighter. The cop goes, you
- 27:43Speaker 3: have the right to remain sexy, and then he points
- 27:47Speaker 3: at her, and then he hits the boom box buttons,
- 27:52Speaker 3: and then there's that, and then the fire guy he
- 27:56Speaker 3: comes in and he's like, I smell smoke. Bennett's you
- 28:01Speaker 3: smoke show, and then he presses it. He goes, and
- 28:06Speaker 3: then Gary gets all flustered. It's gonna be great, all right.
- 28:13Speaker 3: Oh what a freaking horrible story to go into. Back
- 28:16Speaker 3: to handle on the news we go. A boy dies
- 28:20Speaker 3: from rabies. Eleven year old kid from Canada, just up north.
- 28:27Speaker 3: He died after contracting rabies contact with the bat. He
- 28:32Speaker 3: wakes up the bats on his face and several weeks
- 28:37Speaker 3: after the bat landed on his face while he was
- 28:39Speaker 3: vacationing in northern Ontario. I guess the bat was like
- 28:48Speaker 3: on his nose and face. When he woke up, he
- 28:50Speaker 3: swatted it away. His father caught it.
- 28:55Speaker 5: Oh my gosh, in released it. This is like the
- 28:58Speaker 5: worst way to handle it.
- 29:00Speaker 3: If you think that an animal might be rabid, you
- 29:04Speaker 3: capture it. Don't get bed again, but you capture it
- 29:08Speaker 3: so they can test it.
- 29:11Speaker 4: Or you go get tested.
- 29:12Speaker 5: Well you have to go get tested too, But.
- 29:15Speaker 4: This little boy did not. The family didn't do.
- 29:17Speaker 3: That, I know, which breaks my heart because don't they said.
- 29:21Speaker 3: Apparently they didn't see marks. But ultimately, man, rabies is crazy.
- 29:27Speaker 3: And if you've ever done a deep dive, don't ask
- 29:30Speaker 3: me why, but I have on rabies and and the cases. Gosh,
- 29:37Speaker 3: there was one case where someone got a kidney transplant,
- 29:40Speaker 3: I think, and the guy had rabies. But and he died,
- 29:44Speaker 3: but they didn't know what he died of. Then they
- 29:47Speaker 3: gave his kidney to someone and that guy died.
- 29:52Speaker 5: Oh geez, yeah, right, it's it because almost always deadly.
- 29:57Speaker 5: Oh yeah, it just is insane.
- 29:59Speaker 3: So U just man, especially with your babies, just go
- 30:02Speaker 3: get him checked and taken care of. I've been hitting
- 30:07Speaker 3: the head by a bat growing up in Newbury Park.
- 30:11Speaker 5: The bats.
- 30:12Speaker 3: There was a bat cave up in the mountains, and
- 30:15Speaker 3: they'd come down at night to our street and eat
- 30:19Speaker 3: the bugs around the street lights. And I'm not proud
- 30:24Speaker 3: of this part, but in my defense, I was just
- 30:26Speaker 3: a little little kid. I'd throw bark from the front
- 30:29Speaker 3: yard at them in the street lights. Not a smart kid,
- 30:34Speaker 3: not a smart adult. And one swooped down and got
- 30:41Speaker 3: up in my hair and then flew off. And I
- 30:44Speaker 3: remember standing there and guess how many times I threw
- 30:48Speaker 3: bark at bats after that, like eight, No, I'm kidding.
- 30:54Speaker 5: No. I was like, that's probably not.
- 30:56Speaker 3: A good idea, anywhoe if we could squeeze in another one.
- 31:01Speaker 4: Do you want to do the Empire State Building one?
- 31:03Speaker 5: Yeah? Please?
- 31:03Speaker 4: Okay, that's you.
- 31:05Speaker 5: No, you can go ahead and do it.
- 31:06Speaker 4: I haven't ready yet. Well, okay, I have not prepared
- 31:08Speaker 4: for this.
- 31:09Speaker 3: All right, not a problem. So there's new details coming
- 31:12Speaker 3: out about that daredevil couple that we saw climbed to the
- 31:17Speaker 3: top of the Empire State Building there on the aerioals
- 31:19Speaker 3: there and allegedly slept inside the skyscraper the night before
- 31:25Speaker 3: the secret in secret, and then they appeared to have
- 31:29Speaker 3: broken through a door to get to the antenna there.
- 31:33Speaker 3: Offers officers could not initially go up to the couple
- 31:37Speaker 3: during their stunt, which ended with one of the climbers, because.
- 31:40Speaker 4: The officers are going, I'm not going out there.
- 31:42Speaker 5: Well, you go out there. That's just way for him
- 31:45Speaker 5: to come down. It's easier.
- 31:48Speaker 3: But they said they'll do a supervised release, but they'll
- 31:53Speaker 3: do it at at a lower level there. But they're
- 31:57Speaker 3: Russians with current address in East Orange, New Jersey, charged
- 32:02Speaker 3: with multiple felonies in Manhattan Criminal Court, including reckless endangerment.
- 32:09Speaker 3: They had burglary bunch of other charges. But still, despite
- 32:15Speaker 3: all the serious charges and dangerous aspect of their stunt,
- 32:18Speaker 3: the two were all smiles and kisses for the camera.
- 32:22Speaker 3: I mean, they're famoose now.
- 32:25Speaker 4: And everybody's saying, oh, they're overcharged. No, I don't think
- 32:28Speaker 4: they are.
- 32:29Speaker 5: No.
- 32:29Speaker 4: I really think they broke into the building. They stayed
- 32:31Speaker 4: in there overnight. They broke in, they trespassed, they climbed up.
- 32:35Speaker 4: They put themselves in danger, They put other people in
- 32:37Speaker 4: danger if they would have fallen off, I mean, God forbid,
- 32:40Speaker 4: like they weren't going to fall because they're so comfortable
- 32:42Speaker 4: up there, which is crazy. But if they had think
- 32:44Speaker 4: of I mean, they could have hit somebody below, you.
- 32:47Speaker 5: Know, with a penny at Terminal Philosophy, and it would
- 32:52Speaker 5: have split their skull.
- 32:54Speaker 4: Well it's a lot bigger than a penny. Uh.
- 32:57Speaker 5: Yeah, they have to be punished.
- 32:58Speaker 3: Hey, if you get nailed for vandalism of the reflecting
- 33:03Speaker 3: pool in Washington, DC, A possibly could get ten years that.
- 33:08Speaker 3: I think breaking burgling and going on the top you
- 33:13Speaker 3: got to get nailed for something. Sorry, Yeah, you got
- 33:16Speaker 3: to send the message that it's like, well, their message, yes,
- 33:19Speaker 3: their message I get Piece is wonderful. But you can't
- 33:22Speaker 3: just do anything because you're going to put a peace
- 33:25Speaker 3: sign on it.
- 33:25Speaker 4: Do you think anybody is going to say, you know what,
- 33:28Speaker 4: they're right, we should have more peace.
- 33:32Speaker 5: You know what I was thinking.
- 33:33Speaker 3: I saw a guy on an overpass that said give
- 33:37Speaker 3: Piece a chance, and I thought, OK, sorry, buddy, that's
- 33:40Speaker 3: not high enough. If you go to the top of
- 33:43Speaker 3: a mountain. No, you've got to go to the top
- 33:46Speaker 3: of the Empire State Building and only then while I
- 33:49Speaker 3: listen to your.
- 33:49Speaker 4: Message, and then I'll give Piece a chance.
- 33:51Speaker 3: All right, much more to come go nowheres Nil Sabadri
