Speaker 1: What's up everyone and welcome to another episode of the
• 0:03
Speaker 1: Epstein Chronicles. One of the most fascinating battles when it
• 0:07
Speaker 1: comes to Jeffrey Epstein's associates and Congress and the survivors
• 0:13
Speaker 1: is most assuredly Leon Black. And the fact that Leon
• 0:17
Speaker 1: Black has been able to set the terms for what
• 0:21
Speaker 1: he's doing and when he wants to do it is
• 0:24
Speaker 1: just bananas. Imagine you walked into Congress and acted the
• 0:29
Speaker 1: way Leon Black did How do you think that would
• 0:31
Speaker 1: have worked out? But Leon Black, he gets to do
• 0:35
Speaker 1: whatever he wants pretty much. Now, of course, they've threatened
• 0:38
Speaker 1: a subpoena and they've hit him with one. But what
• 0:40
Speaker 1: are they going to do when he shows up to
• 0:42
Speaker 1: Congress and tells them basically to tell their story walking?
• 0:47
Speaker 1: Are they going to charge him with contempt? Are they
• 0:50
Speaker 1: going to arrest him? We all know the answer to that.
• 0:55
Speaker 1: And that's why I say all the time that all
• 0:57
Speaker 1: of this nonsense that we see is performative. It doesn't
• 1:01
Speaker 1: have any real teeth. And the people that are being
• 1:05
Speaker 1: called before Congress, they don't fear repercussions if they're not truthful.
• 1:10
Speaker 1: And that's because Congress has shown that they're limp and
• 1:14
Speaker 1: they're not going to do anything when people walk all
• 1:17
Speaker 1: over them. And that's certainly what Leon Black has been doing. Well,
• 1:21
Speaker 1: now some Epstein survivors have banded together to call on
• 1:26
Speaker 1: Leon Black to cooperate with the House panel and give
• 1:29
Speaker 1: Congress the full story. And in this article from The Guardian,
• 1:34
Speaker 1: we're going to talk a little bit more about Leon
• 1:36
Speaker 1: Black and the requests made by the Epstein survivors. This
• 1:41
Speaker 1: article was authored by Marina Dunbar. More than a dozen
• 1:46
Speaker 1: survivors of Jeffrey Epstein's abuse have called on the billionaire
• 1:49
Speaker 1: Leon Black to appear before the House Oversight Committee in
• 1:53
Speaker 1: order to clarify his connections to the late disgraced financier
• 1:57
Speaker 1: and convicted sex offender. Look, Leon Black knows everything. That
• 2:01
Speaker 1: he is deep in it. And if it wasn't for
• 2:04
Speaker 1: his power, his wealth, his reach, this man would have
• 2:08
Speaker 1: been cooked a long time ago. But the thing is,
• 2:12
Speaker 1: Leon Black's a very powerful guy. And I know people
• 2:16
Speaker 1: don't want to hear that, but it's the truth. I mean,
• 2:18
Speaker 1: we're talking about the man that started Apollo Global. He
• 2:22
Speaker 1: has a lot of friends in a lot of high places.
• 2:25
Speaker 1: And I know that Congress is talking tough. And I
• 2:27
Speaker 1: know that they're saying that, you know, there's going to
• 2:29
Speaker 1: be penalties for Leon Black. but I'll believe it when
• 2:32
Speaker 1: I see it. And look, if we do get to
• 2:35
Speaker 1: a point where he's, you know, called out for his
• 2:38
Speaker 1: bullshit in a meaningful way, and there's some repercussions, I'll
• 2:42
Speaker 1: be the first one to show back up and say, look,
• 2:44
Speaker 1: I was wrong. Congress handled their business. Kudos to them. Unfortunately,
• 2:49
Speaker 1: history has shown us that that's not the reality of things.
• 2:53
Speaker 1: And that if we're waiting for Congress to step in
• 2:55
Speaker 1: and be the heroes, we're going to be waiting for
• 2:58
Speaker 1: a very, very long time. More than a dozen survivors
• 3:01
Speaker 1: of Jeffrey Epstein's abuse have called on the billionaire Leon
• 3:04
Speaker 1: Black to appear before the House Oversight Committee in order
• 3:07
Speaker 1: to clarify his connection to the late disgraced financier and
• 3:11
Speaker 1: convicted sex offender. In a letter released on Wednesday, the
• 3:14
Speaker 1: survivors urged Black to comply with the congressional subpoenas ahead
• 3:18
Speaker 1: of Thursday's deposition before the House Oversight Committee. Look, I
• 3:23
Speaker 1: just don't believe that Leon Black's going to do the
• 3:25
Speaker 1: right thing. He's going to show up with Susan Estrich,
• 3:28
Speaker 1: the rest of those lawyers... And they're going to run interference.
• 3:32
Speaker 1: Everything's going to be a challenge. Everything's going to be
• 3:34
Speaker 1: a fight. It's going to be theater is really what
• 3:37
Speaker 1: it's going to turn into. And maybe that's always been
• 3:41
Speaker 1: the goal. I mean, what has the committee done? Has
• 3:45
Speaker 1: anybody been indicted? Is there any sweeping investigations that we
• 3:49
Speaker 1: know about? Now, look, maybe they have something going on
• 3:51
Speaker 1: behind the scenes, but I highly doubt it. This day
• 3:55
Speaker 1: and age, you don't think there'd be a leak? Somebody
• 3:57
Speaker 1: talking about what's going on? And until Congress holds somebody accountable,
• 4:02
Speaker 1: then this is all performative. We are survivors of Jeffrey
• 4:10
Speaker 1: Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell's abuse and exploitation, and we're calling
• 4:13
Speaker 1: on Leon Black to appear as required before the House
• 4:16
Speaker 1: Oversight Committee on Thursday, the statement said. We are also
• 4:21
Speaker 1: calling on Black to fully comply with the committee's subpoenas
• 4:24
Speaker 1: and including its demand that he produce all responsive non-disclosure
• 4:28
Speaker 1: agreements in his possession. And is there anything unfair about
• 4:33
Speaker 1: what they're calling for? Nobody's asking Leon Black for anything
• 4:37
Speaker 1: that goes above and beyond his connections to Epstein. See,
• 4:40
Speaker 1: the problem is his connections to Epstein are the most problematic.
• 4:45
Speaker 1: And that's why he doesn't want to turn that information over.
• 4:48
Speaker 1: That's why he doesn't want to be forthcoming. And that's
• 4:51
Speaker 1: why he continues to play games. Black, the New York
• 4:55
Speaker 1: private equity investor, paid Epstein tens of millions of dollars
• 4:58
Speaker 1: in fees during work he has described as tax and
• 5:01
Speaker 1: estate planning services. He's already faced accusations of purposely delaying
• 5:07
Speaker 1: and disrupting the panel's inquiry. Well, yeah, he has. This
• 5:11
Speaker 1: man has been noncompliant. He's been obtuse. And he refuses
• 5:16
Speaker 1: to do what Congress tells him to do. And I
• 5:19
Speaker 1: don't understand how that doesn't make people more agitated, more angry.
• 5:23
Speaker 1: considering you have a whole ass different set of rules
• 5:26
Speaker 1: that you're expected to abide by. So if I'm expected
• 5:30
Speaker 1: to abide by some set of rules, then I expect
• 5:32
Speaker 1: Leon Black to have the same kind of obligations that
• 5:35
Speaker 1: any of us would have. The letter further stated that
• 5:40
Speaker 1: Black's use of NDAs underscores why Congress must scrutinize the
• 5:43
Speaker 1: agreements in his possession and determine whether they shed light
• 5:47
Speaker 1: on his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein and others in Epstein's orbit.
• 5:52
Speaker 1: If Black continues to withhold responsive records or refuses to
• 5:55
Speaker 1: comply with the committee's demands, Congress should use every tool
• 5:59
Speaker 1: available to enforce its subpoenas. Yes, they should. The question is,
• 6:04
Speaker 1: will they? Like, is this a fight that Congress really wants?
• 6:09
Speaker 1: Or is it just something that they're making pretend they
• 6:11
Speaker 1: care about? Because I would think that with everything we
• 6:16
Speaker 1: know about Leon Black, couldn't you just refer him to
• 6:19
Speaker 1: the Justice Department? And then say, hey, look, the Justice
• 6:23
Speaker 1: Department has decided they don't want to go after him.
• 6:26
Speaker 1: We did our job. We referred him. But baby Billy
• 6:30
Speaker 1: Blanche and Donald Trump, they have other ideas. You know,
• 6:32
Speaker 1: Ben Black's part of the administration, etc., etc. But if
• 6:37
Speaker 1: I'm in Congress, I'm referring this dude. And that's it.
• 6:40
Speaker 1: I think there's enough here for an investigation. And then
• 6:44
Speaker 1: whatever the investigation finds, great. As long as it's a
• 6:47
Speaker 1: real investigation and it's robust... I'm more than willing to
• 6:51
Speaker 1: live with the results of the investigation. That's how confident
• 6:54
Speaker 1: I am that there's a whole ton of malfeasance here. Now,
• 6:57
Speaker 1: if it went the other way and they had a
• 6:59
Speaker 1: transparent process and we were all, you know, able to
• 7:02
Speaker 1: see what's going on, at least, you know, to a
• 7:04
Speaker 1: certain point, and it all ended up being overblown, then
• 7:08
Speaker 1: I'd certainly accept those results. I'm not going to move
• 7:10
Speaker 1: the goalposts. The problem is they don't even want that
• 7:14
Speaker 1: kind of investigation because they're scared of the results. That's
• 7:18
Speaker 1: what it comes down to. just like I've been telling
• 7:20
Speaker 1: you now, for seven years. Last week, the Republican chairman
• 7:24
Speaker 1: of the House Oversight Committee, James Comer, threatened to hold
• 7:27
Speaker 1: Black in contempt if he fails to fully cooperate with
• 7:29
Speaker 1: the panel's investigation into Epstein. Black had not yet confirmed
• 7:34
Speaker 1: his appearance before the committee as of Tuesday. A person
• 7:37
Speaker 1: familiar with the matter had told The Guardian, Imagine just
• 7:40
Speaker 1: ghosting Congress. Yeah, sure, I might show up. I might not, though.
• 7:44
Speaker 1: I got other things to do. You know, I got
• 7:46
Speaker 1: a meeting, and we got some bagels and lox to eat.
• 7:49
Speaker 1: And then we're going to talk about artwork. And then,
• 7:51
Speaker 1: you know, maybe, just maybe, I can carve out a
• 7:54
Speaker 1: little bit of time to go and speak to Congress.
• 7:57
Speaker 1: I mean, what are we doing here? Like, what the
• 7:59
Speaker 1: fuck are we doing? Who's in charge? Congress? Or bitch-ass
• 8:02
Speaker 1: Leon Black? Looks like Leon Black. And like usual, Congress
• 8:08
Speaker 1: looks limp-wristed and useless. In a previous statement before the
• 8:12
Speaker 1: Oversight Committee in June, Black denied knowledge of Epstein's crimes, writing,
• 8:16
Speaker 1: I did not know about this nefarious activity until Epstein
• 8:19
Speaker 1: was charged with trafficking in July of 2019. Oh no,
• 8:24
Speaker 1: I had no idea. No clue whatsoever. How could I know?
• 8:29
Speaker 1: The great and mysterious Leon Black. Mr. Smartest man in
• 8:33
Speaker 1: the history of smart men. Unless it comes to Jeffrey Epstein.
• 8:37
Speaker 1: Then I'm just a big dumb fuck, right? Give me
• 8:40
Speaker 1: a break. I'm so tired of these people and their nonsense.
• 8:44
Speaker 1: And I'm really tired of Congress. letting these people get
• 8:46
Speaker 1: away with said nonsense. Here's an idea. Step the fuck up.
• 8:52
Speaker 1: Do the right thing. Just once. However, Black acknowledged that
• 8:57
Speaker 1: he was aware that Epstein had pleaded guilty in 2008
• 8:59
Speaker 1: to state charges relating to prostitution involving a minor. But
• 9:04
Speaker 1: that's no big deal. She was 17, right? Forget about
• 9:07
Speaker 1: the other 45 girls. And to the dumb fucks in
• 9:11
Speaker 1: the back of the room, don't you see that this
• 9:13
Speaker 1: was done on purpose? Yes. Instead of using the complaints
• 9:16
Speaker 1: of the girls that were 14 and 15, they decided
• 9:19
Speaker 1: that the only allegation they're going to use, the only
• 9:22
Speaker 1: charge he's going to get hit with, is from a
• 9:24
Speaker 1: girl that's 17. Ask yourself why they did that, especially
• 9:28
Speaker 1: now with hindsight as your guide. Look at how beneficial
• 9:31
Speaker 1: that was to Jeffrey Epstein and his buddies. Look at
• 9:34
Speaker 1: the narrative that they're building now. Do you really think
• 9:37
Speaker 1: they didn't know that back then? They insert this bomb
• 9:41
Speaker 1: here and it becomes the narrative. Rinson, fucking repeat. And
• 9:45
Speaker 1: the fact that people still keep falling for it is
• 9:47
Speaker 1: crazy to me. I don't know how anyone can be
• 9:50
Speaker 1: honest and say they looked at this case and that
• 9:54
Speaker 1: there was a robust investigation into Jeffrey Epstein and his
• 9:57
Speaker 1: criminal enterprise. Because that just isn't the case. speech from
• 10:01
Speaker 1: the House floor this week, Thomas Massey, the Kentucky Republican,
• 10:05
Speaker 1: who recently lost his primary to a challenger backed by
• 10:07
Speaker 1: Donald Trump, read aloud the names of several friends and
• 10:10
Speaker 1: associates of Epstein, including Black. Massey called on the Department
• 10:15
Speaker 1: of Justice to investigate the group of men and women
• 10:17
Speaker 1: involved whom the representatives refer to as perpetrators of Epstein's crimes.
• 10:23
Speaker 1: Massey also emphasized that despite the fact that it has
• 10:26
Speaker 1: been nearly a year since Trump signed the Epstein Files
• 10:29
Speaker 1: Transparency Act, millions of the Epstein files remain unreleased. And
• 10:35
Speaker 1: that is not what the act called for. Oh, it's duplicative.
• 10:38
Speaker 1: They have to do with national security. What the fuck
• 10:41
Speaker 1: does a lone predator who's diddling kids have to do
• 10:44
Speaker 1: with national security? Because remember, that's what they told us
• 10:47
Speaker 1: he was. So if that's the case, shouldn't be a
• 10:50
Speaker 1: big deal, right? Was John Wayne Gacy a national security threat?
• 10:55
Speaker 1: How about, oh, I don't know, Jeffrey Dahmer? How about
• 10:59
Speaker 1: Israel Keyes? Of course, the answer is no to all
• 11:02
Speaker 1: of them. But when it comes to Jeffrey Epstein, we
• 11:04
Speaker 1: have national security interests that have to be looked after.
• 11:08
Speaker 1: What does that even mean? Can somebody please explain that?
• 11:11
Speaker 1: I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact
• 11:12
Speaker 1: that Jeffrey Epstein was working as a middleman in the
• 11:15
Speaker 1: world of intelligence, right? Nah, nothing to do with that.
• 11:19
Speaker 1: So look, is Leon Black going to appear today? That's
• 11:21
Speaker 1: certainly the question. And when we have the answer, we'll
• 11:24
Speaker 1: get it added to the catalog. All the information that
• 11:28
Speaker 1: goes with this episode can be found in the description box.
