- 0:45Speaker 3: we are the Avid Indoorsman. Hellover one. Hello, what's up buddy? Ah?
- 0:53Speaker 1: Nothing man, just living that summer life. I don't know.
- 0:56Speaker 1: I don't do anything anymore. I record podcasts and out, I.
- 1:00Speaker 3: Don't hang out. I'm excited because I get to hang out.
- 1:05Speaker 5: With you this weekend.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Yes, that will be fun. And I did get to
- 1:09Speaker 1: see our friends sing a show this weekend, so that
- 1:11Speaker 1: was fun.
- 1:12Speaker 3: Yes, you went with my wife and my daughter.
- 1:17Speaker 1: I know it was fun.
- 1:18Speaker 3: I that is something that I don't think Charlie would
- 1:23Speaker 3: have been. Uh, I don't yeah, I think it would
- 1:26Speaker 3: have been a lot for all of us to go.
- 1:28Speaker 1: I think that was right, whoever made that call or
- 1:31Speaker 1: was like maybe not your daughter. Sure seemed to enjoy it,
- 1:35Speaker 1: which was very fun.
- 1:37Speaker 3: She is at that point where she wants to be
- 1:39Speaker 3: with the grown ups and she wants to hang out
- 1:42Speaker 3: and be in the conversation. And she's there, she's.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Yeah, we had we had a good time. She I
- 1:48Speaker 1: think still doesn't really know what to think about me, Like,
- 1:51Speaker 1: you know, I get a lot of little like side glances,
- 1:53Speaker 1: which I she doesn't know, but I love because I
- 1:56Speaker 1: think it's just funny.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Oh for sure. Well, she got a kick out of
- 1:59Speaker 3: a few things. She said that you asked her if
- 2:03Speaker 3: you're taller than dad yet, and she really thought that
- 2:07Speaker 3: was funny.
- 2:08Speaker 1: That's a go too. I love it. See the classics
- 2:12Speaker 1: are classics for a reason. Rap, you did good. She
- 2:16Speaker 1: is very tall though now she I haven't seen her
- 2:19Speaker 1: for a little while, so yep.
- 2:20Speaker 3: She's tall for class too.
- 2:22Speaker 1: So she fun.
- 2:23Speaker 3: You know, Kels and I are both tolerate things, and yeah.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Sense but yeah, yeah it was fun and yeah, we
- 2:30Speaker 1: get to see some music this weekend.
- 2:32Speaker 3: Yeah, it's gonna be fun. We're doing the Minnesota Yacht
- 2:34Speaker 3: Club Festival, which kind of a weird name for it.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Yeah. I thought it was gonna be all yacht rock
- 2:41Speaker 1: at first.
- 2:42Speaker 3: Honestly, me too, and I would have been all for
- 2:45Speaker 3: it me too.
- 2:46Speaker 1: I mean, Alanis is going to be there the day,
- 2:49Speaker 1: We're going to be there amongst others.
- 2:50Speaker 3: But she's the like for me, the big headliner.
- 2:53Speaker 6: Yep.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Yeah. And I think when Stefani is there that night too.
- 2:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:59Speaker 3: It's funny because it's a Friday and Saturday thing, and
- 3:02Speaker 3: it turns out Saturday was the one that I really
- 3:06Speaker 3: would have rather gone to. But there's there's some some
- 3:08Speaker 3: still big names on Friday from a few people.
- 3:11Speaker 1: But it'll still be great. The weather looks lovely.
- 3:14Speaker 5: Yep, it'll be good.
- 3:15Speaker 1: The ladies will be here, It'll be fun.
- 3:17Speaker 3: It'll be super fun.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Have you been watching any movies?
- 3:21Speaker 3: Oh? Thank you for asking. Oh my god, I took
- 3:24Speaker 3: your advice and I immediately after that last pod, I
- 3:28Speaker 3: went and watched Beverly Hills cop axel.
- 3:31Speaker 1: F Dude, what did you think?
- 3:34Speaker 3: It was so much fun? It was a lot of fun.
- 3:38Speaker 3: They got the whole gang back together. They added Joseph
- 3:41Speaker 3: Gordon Levitt, who was fun. They added Kevin Bacon, who
- 3:45Speaker 3: was fun too.
- 3:48Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 3:48Speaker 3: I totally agreed with your takes. It has the same
- 3:50Speaker 3: vibe as the old ones. I'd say, the only thing
- 3:55Speaker 3: that's missing is the Eddie Murphy signature laugh, which I
- 4:00Speaker 3: actually just saw in an interview that that was his
- 4:04Speaker 3: real laugh, and anytime somebody would do an impersonation of him,
- 4:09Speaker 3: they would do that laugh. And he was like, yeah,
- 4:13Speaker 3: I'm more than that laugh. And he made it so
- 4:16Speaker 3: that he does not laugh like that anymore.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Oh no, yeah, that's sad.
- 4:23Speaker 3: It's kind of sad.
- 4:24Speaker 1: So someone does a joke about that, some comedian. They're like,
- 4:28Speaker 1: you know that thing that you do when you feel
- 4:30Speaker 1: unbridled joy, I'm gonna make fun of that, right yeah. Wow.
- 4:35Speaker 3: So then he was just like, that's not how I
- 4:37Speaker 3: laugh anymore.
- 4:38Speaker 1: And I love that laugh so much. Yep, me too,
- 4:42Speaker 1: that's funny. I didn't notice though, while I was watching it.
- 4:44Speaker 1: I someone said something later and I was like, oh, yeah, weird, Yep,
- 4:48Speaker 1: that's interesting. Wow, I didn't know.
- 4:50Speaker 3: That's fun even like some of the small like Nassim
- 4:54Speaker 3: Pedrod came in out of nowhere, who I haven't seen
- 4:57Speaker 3: in a long time, and she was hilarious, so funny.
- 5:01Speaker 1: I had the like classic car shots. I actually thought
- 5:04Speaker 1: the one dude was dead, so I was very happy
- 5:07Speaker 1: to see him in there. I really thought he passed
- 5:10Speaker 1: away for some.
- 5:11Speaker 3: Reason Recentlyyholder the other guy.
- 5:14Speaker 1: The other guy, yeah, who was probably the same age,
- 5:17Speaker 1: but he looks way older at least or did to
- 5:19Speaker 1: me when I was a kid or whatever. But yeah,
- 5:23Speaker 1: for some reason, I thought he was dead. So I
- 5:25Speaker 1: was very thrilled to see It's.
- 5:27Speaker 3: Pretty impressive that he They all pretty much look the
- 5:31Speaker 3: same for forty years.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Pretty wild.
- 5:33Speaker 3: I mean they've aged a bit, but forty years later, Yeah,
- 5:36Speaker 3: pretty impressive.
- 5:38Speaker 1: I'm with you.
- 5:39Speaker 3: It was really fun. Yeah, right to Netflix. A lot
- 5:42Speaker 3: of those are not great, so this was fun.
- 5:44Speaker 1: It was a treat. I was a little like, I'm
- 5:47Speaker 1: going to like this no matter what. But then I
- 5:49Speaker 1: was like, oh, no, this is actually good. Great, Yeah,
- 5:51Speaker 1: I was into it. Yeah that's what what have you
- 5:54Speaker 1: been watching? So I went back in time a little bit.
- 5:58Speaker 1: I saw a movie from nineteen hundre undred ninety.
- 6:01Speaker 3: One, Rob, Oh, that is a while ago.
- 6:03Speaker 1: This is a little film called Fried Green Tomatoes. Did
- 6:07Speaker 1: you ever watch that?
- 6:08Speaker 3: You've never seen that before?
- 6:10Speaker 1: Don't so I thought I had, But I don't think
- 6:13Speaker 1: I had, and this movie is bonkers.
- 6:16Speaker 3: I boohooed hard in that movie.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Same boohooed a lot. But like, there's a lot of
- 6:22Speaker 1: stuff happening in this there's like the whole like feminism
- 6:25Speaker 1: angle that's happening. There's a lot of like you know,
- 6:29Speaker 1: the South during times of reconstruction and like post slavery,
- 6:35Speaker 1: you know, like racist stuff happening. There's like some what
- 6:39Speaker 1: I thought to be pretty clear and I realized only
- 6:42Speaker 1: later pretty clear, like lesbian storytelling stuff happening that apparently
- 6:47Speaker 1: was not the case. And I was like, oh, I
- 6:50Speaker 1: thought that was pretty obvious. I feel silly now, but yeah,
- 6:56Speaker 1: and it was a good movie. I really liked it.
- 6:58Speaker 1: I thought it was really great.
- 7:00Speaker 3: Is uh Jessica Tandy's in it?
- 7:03Speaker 1: Kathy Bays, Kathy Bates, she's the lead. I guess probably
- 7:07Speaker 1: she Well, it's weird, is it?
- 7:09Speaker 6: So?
- 7:09Speaker 3: Is it like going back like somebody telling a story
- 7:12Speaker 3: of Yeah.
- 7:13Speaker 1: And it's pretty like equal actually, So it's like there's
- 7:17Speaker 1: a little bit of both happening.
- 7:18Speaker 3: There is that Mary Stuart Masterson was that name?
- 7:22Speaker 1: Yes? Yeah, and she was good and then I'll get.
- 7:27Speaker 3: Her messed up? Is it the woman from Weeds? Yes,
- 7:31Speaker 3: what is her Elizabeth something?
- 7:33Speaker 1: Uh, No, it is a it's a combo name though
- 7:36Speaker 1: it's blank blank blank.
- 7:38Speaker 3: Yeah, what is it?
- 7:40Speaker 5: Mary?
- 7:40Speaker 3: Louise Parker, Louise Parker, that's it.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Yeah, and she was pretty good en it too.
- 7:46Speaker 3: I actually get it messed up with Mary Elizabeth Mester Antonio.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Dude, Yes, and I totally get that. Actually makes a
- 7:53Speaker 1: total sense to me. But yeah, it's a it's an
- 7:56Speaker 1: interesting it's an interesting film. It must have been like
- 8:00Speaker 1: pretty wild for its time, because I thought even now
- 8:03Speaker 1: I was like, whoa, Oh, they're really going some places here.
- 8:06Speaker 1: This is pretty crazy.
- 8:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I know, like Kathy Bates gets her power back.
- 8:10Speaker 3: That's her big thing, and it's that was dude, I
- 8:14Speaker 3: haven't seen that in thirty years, Like it is a
- 8:17Speaker 3: long time ago.
- 8:18Speaker 1: I guess I just had never seen it, which I
- 8:20Speaker 1: guess kind of also lines up right. I would have
- 8:22Speaker 1: been a little too young probably, and then if I
- 8:25Speaker 1: just never saw it like on TV growing up, I
- 8:29Speaker 1: might just never have seen it.
- 8:30Speaker 3: But I think I only saw it the one time,
- 8:31Speaker 3: but it really stuck with me. I think I was
- 8:33Speaker 3: probably like nine or something.
- 8:36Speaker 1: I mean, that's probably a great age to see it
- 8:38Speaker 1: for the first time. But it's really great. I think
- 8:42Speaker 1: two people got nominated for it, or the film got nominated.
- 8:44Speaker 3: For Kathy Bates definitely was up for it. Yeah, and
- 8:49Speaker 3: was Jessica Tandy up for it?
- 8:50Speaker 1: I think she was.
- 8:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:52Speaker 1: I don't think she won though.
- 8:55Speaker 5: Yeah, I was that's fun.
- 8:57Speaker 3: Where did you watch that? Was it just and on
- 9:00Speaker 3: one of the things?
- 9:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I didn't rent it. I uh no, I went
- 9:05Speaker 1: to the movie theater and demanded I just yelped until
- 9:08Speaker 1: someone put it on. No, uh, I don't remember Amazon Prime.
- 9:13Speaker 3: Maybe okay, what made you let you just saw it
- 9:16Speaker 3: when you're.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Scrim Sorry I missed that part of it. I think
- 9:19Speaker 1: Dave had randomly watched it and was like, this movie
- 9:22Speaker 1: is crazy. Have you guys seen this? And I was like,
- 9:25Speaker 1: I don't know, and so I just I watched it
- 9:28Speaker 1: and then sent him like a flurry of texts afterward
- 9:32Speaker 1: that was like, yeah, what is happening here?
- 9:34Speaker 3: I was like second wave feminism, we got like all this.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Stuff going on. I'm very confused.
- 9:40Speaker 5: Yeah, but it was fun.
- 9:41Speaker 1: It was really and it's a great story, like it's yeah,
- 9:45Speaker 1: I didn't know what was happening the whole time. Lots
- 9:47Speaker 1: of boooze.
- 9:48Speaker 3: Like you said, there's I wonder based on a book,
- 9:51Speaker 3: maybe it feels like it would have been.
- 9:52Speaker 1: It was, and in the book the apparently the the
- 9:56Speaker 1: same sex couple stuff is much more overt. Got I
- 10:00Speaker 1: thought it was overt in this one, but apparently specifically not.
- 10:04Speaker 1: I think the studio didn't want that to be a
- 10:07Speaker 1: part of it or something. Sure, And then there's well,
- 10:10Speaker 1: there's other stuff, but we don't need to get into that.
- 10:13Speaker 1: It kind of ruins some things. So if people haven't
- 10:15Speaker 1: seen it, go watch Fried Green Tomatoes. It's really good,
- 10:17Speaker 1: cool and a pretty crazy watch. So, yeah, have you
- 10:21Speaker 1: been streaming anything?
- 10:22Speaker 5: I have?
- 10:23Speaker 3: I took another one of your recommendations, went to Apple
- 10:26Speaker 3: TV Plus and started Masters of the Air. Oh nice,
- 10:31Speaker 3: What do you think of that?
- 10:32Speaker 5: I like it a lot.
- 10:33Speaker 3: I'm on episode five of eight and it's great so far.
- 10:38Speaker 3: For those that don't know, it recounts the story of
- 10:40Speaker 3: the one hundredth Bomb Group during World War Two. It
- 10:45Speaker 3: follows their missions going into Europe that's occupied by Germany.
- 10:53Speaker 3: It shows how intense war is, the friendships and relationships
- 10:59Speaker 3: that happened in between those guys. I didn't recognize a
- 11:03Speaker 3: ton of the actors, most notably were Austin Butler, Callum Turner,
- 11:09Speaker 3: who I just saw as the lead in The Boys
- 11:11Speaker 3: in the Boat They George Clooney one, and then Barry
- 11:16Speaker 3: Cogan who has blown up.
- 11:18Speaker 1: They were kind of the only ones I knew knew
- 11:20Speaker 1: but yeah, well and even Callum I don't think I
- 11:22Speaker 1: really did, to be honest.
- 11:23Speaker 3: I didn't. Had I not seen that other movie, I
- 11:26Speaker 3: wouldn't have recognized him. So it's a lot of newcomers.
- 11:30Speaker 3: I wouldn't be surprised if it's like a Band of
- 11:32Speaker 3: brothers where then everybody blows up afterwards.
- 11:35Speaker 1: And is this was it like produced by the same
- 11:37Speaker 1: people or anything? Or am I making that up?
- 11:39Speaker 3: I saw it, said a Playton Ambling production. So that's
- 11:44Speaker 3: Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg. Okay, got that makes some pretty
- 11:47Speaker 3: big hitters.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Yeah they Yeah, they probably figured it out. Okay, that's great.
- 11:52Speaker 3: Yeah, so I'm enjoying it so far.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Yeah, it's really fun. I mean fun is may be
- 11:57Speaker 1: the wrong word, but it's yeah, it's well and yeah,
- 12:00Speaker 1: it's super beautiful. That was I was really shocked by
- 12:04Speaker 1: how great it looked because it's gonna be hard. There's
- 12:07Speaker 1: gotta be a lot of c G I in that too.
- 12:09Speaker 3: A ton some of the explosions. Those are the only
- 12:12Speaker 3: times I am like that doesn't look great. Yeah, true,
- 12:14Speaker 3: but still a ton of different like air fighting scenes,
- 12:19Speaker 3: and I would imagine that those are really tough. And
- 12:21Speaker 3: there's a lot in this show so cool. But that's
- 12:25Speaker 3: pretty good. Have you been streaming anything?
- 12:27Speaker 1: I yeah, I streamed a movie I've talked about a
- 12:30Speaker 1: bunch of times, but I just like to bring it
- 12:32Speaker 1: up again, and I just watched it on HBO Max.
- 12:35Speaker 1: I believe I watched Room again. Not fun, but I
- 12:41Speaker 1: really love that movie. I think it's so well done
- 12:44Speaker 1: that it is. I know it's a bummer, but for
- 12:48Speaker 1: some reason, it doesn't bum me out as much as
- 12:51Speaker 1: it makes me happy. I don't which is probably not
- 12:54Speaker 1: a great sign for me and my mental health.
- 12:57Speaker 3: Is just such heavy material, it's hard for me to
- 13:02Speaker 3: get the motivation to watch something like that again.
- 13:04Speaker 1: I think also if I had kids, it would maybe
- 13:08Speaker 1: be all that much tougher, right, like that story, but
- 13:13Speaker 1: the story's so great and like the I don't know,
- 13:16Speaker 1: just the triumph of it is worth it for me.
- 13:20Speaker 1: I don't know, but I really love that movie a lot,
- 13:22Speaker 1: and it. It just happened to be there when I
- 13:24Speaker 1: was like kind of just scrolling around and I was like,
- 13:27Speaker 1: what want Yeah, I guess I'm gonna watch that. And
- 13:30Speaker 1: I kind of had that like I had that moment
- 13:32Speaker 1: of like, well, it's not like a happy film. Okay,
- 13:35Speaker 1: I guess that's what we're you know, like, yeah, that's
- 13:38Speaker 1: what we're doing. I don't know, but I love that movie.
- 13:42Speaker 1: Brie Larson is so good and then what's little dudes there? Okay,
- 13:47Speaker 1: he's really good. I mean, I know we know all
- 13:50Speaker 1: this right, Like I think she won an Oscar for
- 13:53Speaker 1: it and he may have been nominated even but they're
- 13:57Speaker 1: both just so so fantastic in that movie.
- 14:00Speaker 5: Yeah, nice stuff.
- 14:02Speaker 1: But yeah, so nothing but good happy stuff for me.
- 14:05Speaker 1: N Tomatoes and room.
- 14:06Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, interesting getting in those feelings, combo.
- 14:11Speaker 1: What do you say though? Should we do?
- 14:13Speaker 3: If you plug a roonies, let's plug it up, Brae.
- 14:15Speaker 1: You guess. Can visit us as always aroun the Twitter
- 14:17Speaker 1: Machine where we're at Avid Indorsman with a Z or

- 14:55Speaker 3: Love those patrons. They're wonderful. And another perk we like
- 14:59Speaker 3: to get is an extended version of every episode. We
- 15:03Speaker 3: call it our podcast and chill version. We'll do top
- 15:05Speaker 3: five draft that pertains to the movie we're talking about,
- 15:08Speaker 3: And for this one, we're doing our top five favorite
- 15:12Speaker 3: directorial debuts. Oh my, which I really thought we had
- 15:18Speaker 3: done already, so I am excited to do it.
- 15:22Speaker 1: Well, like I said, we had done every permutation around that,
- 15:25Speaker 1: but not that somehow, Yeah, which is interesting directed start in. Yeah,
- 15:31Speaker 1: we did writer director, Yeah, we did yeah, starring starring director.
- 15:36Speaker 3: Yeah, so nice.
- 15:38Speaker 1: I'm realizing now I should have probably looked at those
- 15:41Speaker 1: lists anyway, pretty dumb, but yeah, So that's be tuned
- 15:48Speaker 1: for that. It'll be a good time. I believe our
- 15:51Speaker 1: next podcast will be the movie cinematic classic that is Airheads. Airheads,
- 15:58Speaker 1: I love this movie.
- 15:59Speaker 3: I love the candy.
- 16:01Speaker 1: Oh I like that candy too. Not one of my
- 16:04Speaker 1: all times, but I do like.
- 16:05Speaker 3: No, I liked it as a kid. I haven't had
- 16:07Speaker 3: it in a very long time.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't. I think it would just taste like fruity,
- 16:12Speaker 1: like sugar now to me with my very discerning palette.
- 16:18Speaker 1: As we all know, I agree, though it is delicious.
- 16:21Speaker 1: Stay tuned for that. Airheads will be really fun. I
- 16:25Speaker 1: don't know if Rob loves this movie, but I sure
- 16:27Speaker 1: do so.
- 16:28Speaker 3: It'll be great, and that's why we're doing it.
- 16:30Speaker 1: It'll be great.
- 16:32Speaker 3: It'll be great.
- 16:33Speaker 1: Call it payback. I don't know. We'll figure it out.
- 16:35Speaker 1: But we're here today to talk about another lovely film.
- 16:38Speaker 1: This is from the year two thousand and four. Rob.
- 16:40Speaker 1: It's twenty years old, yep, which seems crazy. The movie
- 16:45Speaker 1: is Garden State, and we decided we had to find
- 16:48Speaker 1: our two favoritest, most fragrant flowers we could in our
- 16:51Speaker 1: little garden here, so welcome them back. We have the
- 16:55Speaker 1: lovely Tim Fous and Chris chat them.
- 16:58Speaker 3: What's up fellas?
- 17:00Speaker 5: Ah, my goodness.
- 17:03Speaker 6: Anyway, you were just saying.
- 17:06Speaker 3: I have a tiny penis, and Spathetic.
- 17:11Speaker 6: Said much funny, more subtle than that before.
- 17:15Speaker 5: He's so honest. Yeah.
- 17:16Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel it's important to tell people the truth,
- 17:19Speaker 1: just like when I say I love both of these
- 17:22Speaker 1: two men.
- 17:22Speaker 6: Hi, I love you back.
- 17:25Speaker 1: I think you guys know. I think you guys know.
- 17:28Speaker 1: You the voices, but let's say high first to Chris Chatham.
- 17:30Speaker 5: Hi, buddy, I don't know how you can tell us
- 17:32Speaker 5: apart they.
- 17:34Speaker 3: Are very similar vocally, and Tim fast high.
- 17:37Speaker 1: Baby. We're so happy to have you boys on to
- 17:41Speaker 1: talk about this lovely film today.
- 17:43Speaker 6: What's interesting is we were hanging out moments ago. Yeah,
- 17:48Speaker 6: and then and then you split for this, Yeah, for
- 17:51Speaker 6: whatever reason. I would look better on Zoom you know.
- 17:55Speaker 3: I mean, you guys look good the premium.
- 17:57Speaker 6: Subscribers that get the video.
- 17:59Speaker 1: This happens almost every time I hang out with heat
- 18:03Speaker 1: Box will be like hanging out, and then we'll be like,
- 18:06Speaker 1: all right, everybody go home so we can play video
- 18:07Speaker 1: games together, yep, and then we leave and then.
- 18:13Speaker 7: Alert I understand it. He just wanted the quadrants instead
- 18:16Speaker 7: of seeing you know, three squares. Yeah, exactly, it's a
- 18:19Speaker 7: better choice.
- 18:21Speaker 1: Four is a magical number. And I'm looking forward to
- 18:26Speaker 1: the Oregon Ghettoway that's happening this very next week. Gang,
- 18:32Speaker 1: is it the tenth or the twelfth? I should have
- 18:33Speaker 1: looked that up.
- 18:34Speaker 6: It's whatever the second weekend.
- 18:36Speaker 1: Oh, it's the ninth, tenth and eleventh. Sorry, ninth, tenth
- 18:39Speaker 1: and eleventh. And I'm happy to announce I will officially
- 18:43Speaker 1: be there something.
- 18:48Speaker 6: Not only will you be there, you'll be hosting a
- 18:50Speaker 6: movie night.
- 18:51Speaker 1: I will I will be hosting a movie night, probably
- 18:56Speaker 1: singing a song or something at some point somebody. But yeah,
- 19:00Speaker 1: we're gonna watch stand by Me there, which will be
- 19:03Speaker 1: so fun.
- 19:04Speaker 3: One of my absolute favorites. And here's all time it
- 19:09Speaker 3: you've never seen stand.
- 19:10Speaker 6: Believe, I will be experiencing it for the first time.
- 19:14Speaker 1: You're gonna love.
- 19:15Speaker 5: I'm so excited about it.
- 19:17Speaker 3: You know what, I'm gonna not go to the cabin
- 19:19Speaker 3: with my family and I'm gonna leave them and I
- 19:22Speaker 3: have to come out and see you guys because we're
- 19:25Speaker 3: stand by Me is wonderful. You're gonna lie.
- 19:28Speaker 1: It's really great. Well, we'll get you involved somehow, we'll
- 19:31Speaker 1: do it.
- 19:31Speaker 6: You know, well or something. I'm just gonna announce it.
- 19:36Speaker 6: Next year, we'll feature both of the Avid Indoors.
- 19:39Speaker 5: So let's do yeah, Yeah, let's do it.
- 19:41Speaker 1: Man. Yeah, I did kind of decide ate this year.
- 19:43Speaker 1: But I'm super excited. I think it's gonna be a blast.
- 19:47Speaker 1: Lovely people abound.
- 19:48Speaker 6: Yeah, if you've never heard about it, it's you can
- 19:50Speaker 6: like camp with us and everything. It's it's on our
- 19:52Speaker 6: buddies farm, but they have eighty acres in one of
- 19:55Speaker 6: the most beautiful settings. It's literally one of my favorite
- 19:57Speaker 6: places in the world. And we've seen a lot of
- 19:59Speaker 6: world and there's just something really magical about that spot.
- 20:02Speaker 6: And uh and so we camp all weekend and you know,
- 20:07Speaker 6: it really is a one of a kind of experience.
- 20:08Speaker 6: It's it's the only thing we do like that really
- 20:11Speaker 6: where you can, you know, if you really like us
- 20:13Speaker 6: that much, you could come and just hang out with
- 20:15Speaker 6: us all weekend and sleep outside and you know, it's
- 20:19Speaker 6: like it's like around the fire and hikes and it's
- 20:23Speaker 6: it's just wholesome.
- 20:25Speaker 3: So it sounds nice.
- 20:27Speaker 1: Is going to be smores. I feel like there has
- 20:29Speaker 1: to be a s'more.
- 20:30Speaker 6: Too, So you had to ask that. It's so funny
- 20:32Speaker 6: because I just talked to AB and he was like,
- 20:34Speaker 6: can we do away with the smores this year?
- 20:36Speaker 1: It's like, well, listen, any confectionery trait will will do
- 20:40Speaker 1: just fine for me. I don't need it to be
- 20:42Speaker 1: a smore.
- 20:43Speaker 6: Bring your own small materials. If you're listening to this
- 20:46Speaker 6: and joining us, it.
- 20:47Speaker 1: Doesn't like a great party. Bring your own small stuff.
- 20:52Speaker 6: Yeah, b y o s is. But you know we're
- 20:56Speaker 6: talking about maybe like roast and some wieners or something.
- 21:00Speaker 1: I love that. I don't know, but what about food?
- 21:05Speaker 6: Chat them everything? Okay, Bud?
- 21:07Speaker 1: Yeah, what's what's good? Do we need to stop?
- 21:09Speaker 6: He's really upset about this more thing?
- 21:11Speaker 5: Yeah, microphone really really reacted to your party.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Oh gosh, and it started falling.
- 21:18Speaker 6: Now do you want to just come over here?
- 21:22Speaker 5: That would be extremely hilious.
- 21:24Speaker 1: You guys are in the room, aren't you. I knew it.
- 21:26Speaker 5: Yeah, it's fine where it connects. It's fine. If it
- 21:31Speaker 5: starts being an issue, I'll just change it anyway.
- 21:34Speaker 6: If you're still listening, go to ten pounce music dot
- 21:38Speaker 6: com and get tickets to the org and get away
- 21:40Speaker 6: and I also wanted to mention that Veterans Fest, which
- 21:43Speaker 6: we've done it for a few years now, used to
- 21:45Speaker 6: be in the middle of nowhere, Wisconsin, and we decided
- 21:47Speaker 6: to move it to where people live. So it's going
- 21:49Speaker 6: to be in the Twin Cities, uh down in Hastings actually,
- 21:53Speaker 6: and it's going to feature Home Free this year, which
- 21:55Speaker 6: is really exciting. So some of the cast of characters
- 21:58Speaker 6: you know from years past, I'll still be kicking it
- 22:01Speaker 6: off with. Actually this fella, Chris Chatham and General still
- 22:05Speaker 6: be there. So we're gonna do a little Tim Faust
- 22:07Speaker 6: and Friends, and then Rosewater will be there, and then there's.
- 22:12Speaker 1: They're still gonna come yes.
- 22:13Speaker 6: And then I've never heard that free man. Nick won't
- 22:17Speaker 6: be there, but you'll get to hear you'll at least
- 22:19Speaker 6: get to hear Darryl do his thing, which you know,
- 22:21Speaker 6: just adds a whole new dimension if you haven't excited
- 22:23Speaker 6: for that context.
- 22:24Speaker 1: Yeah, dude, Darryl's so great. Oh yeah, it's so fun.
- 22:27Speaker 6: So yeah, you can win.
- 22:29Speaker 1: When is that show, buddy, I don't remember the date offense.
- 22:32Speaker 6: That is in sept Timber the fourteenth, Yeah.
- 22:38Speaker 1: September fourteen. Nice, do they do they go to Timpost
- 22:43Speaker 1: Music for that too.
- 22:45Speaker 6: That'll be at home Free as well, though, I'm sure
- 22:47Speaker 6: you can go to a home free music dot com
- 22:50Speaker 6: for info about that. But it looks like you could
- 22:54Speaker 6: also just go to Veteransfest dot com. Perfect so help
- 23:00Speaker 6: raise money for a great cost.
- 23:01Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 23:02Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's it's a legit good time too, so
- 23:05Speaker 1: you know it's it'll be a great time. I've been
- 23:08Speaker 1: to that one a couple of times, but this could
- 23:11Speaker 1: be all new and fun.
- 23:12Speaker 6: Yeah, we might drig on stage there too.
- 23:16Speaker 1: Well, we'll see what happens, see how bad I could
- 23:19Speaker 1: possibly I should find a flute and pull it out
- 23:24Speaker 1: of my sleeve just for that show. Yeah, like Ron Burgundy,
- 23:27Speaker 1: that would be great that I would think it's fun.
- 23:30Speaker 1: You can also visit Chris Chatham at patreon dot com
- 23:33Speaker 1: slash Chris Chatham if you guys want to hear him
- 23:35Speaker 1: specifically euro it's putting out fun stuff too, right pal.
- 23:38Speaker 7: Yep, whatever comes into this crazy brain, just start that.
- 23:42Speaker 7: You know, whether you guys want it or not, it's.
- 23:45Speaker 1: It's a truly beautiful brain. I don't know if you
- 23:47Speaker 1: guys heard last time. He's immensa member and.
- 23:50Speaker 6: A beautiful mind if you will, yes.
- 23:52Speaker 1: Yes, do you have the card prepared today because you
- 23:56Speaker 1: really had it ready last time.
- 23:58Speaker 7: Yeah, it's right here. If you guys are curious, you know,
- 24:01Speaker 7: just go to mensa. Wait is it mensa?
- 24:04Speaker 5: Hold? Hold on? Wait wait wait yeah, wait wait, we'll.
- 24:10Speaker 1: Just wait for it. Wait wait wait, wait, everyone's holding
- 24:14Speaker 1: wait wait wait, don't know we're already doing that?
- 24:16Speaker 5: Wait is it?
- 24:21Speaker 1: You always do it up there? It is gets me
- 24:23Speaker 1: every time? There, it gets me every time.
- 24:26Speaker 5: I love Now it's backwards. I don't know what to do.
- 24:28Speaker 1: Yeah, only that's a we'll explain it to your one
- 24:31Speaker 1: year older. Fantastic.
- 24:33Speaker 6: I'm great for the podcast version of this.
- 24:35Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, visual gags abound, so check out all that stuff.
- 24:41Speaker 1: If you guys want to hang out and go to
- 24:42Speaker 1: the organ get away. It's in a week now by
- 24:46Speaker 1: the time you're hearing this, so get on it. But gang,
- 24:51Speaker 1: we're here today to talk about Garden State. Yeah we are,
- 24:56Speaker 1: and Rob I think you should get have started with
- 24:57Speaker 1: just a rough synopsis.
- 24:59Speaker 3: Okay, Hey. After many years away, television bit part actor
- 25:05Speaker 3: Andrew Largeman returns to his small hometown in New Jersey
- 25:09Speaker 3: to attend his mother's funeral. There, he is confronted by
- 25:13Speaker 3: various aspects of the life he left behind, including his
- 25:17Speaker 3: overbearing father. Largeman also meets compulsive liar and amateur musician Sam,
- 25:23Speaker 3: with whom he feels an immediate connection. Together with several
- 25:26Speaker 3: other figures from his past, Largeman heals old wounds and
- 25:31Speaker 3: forges new friendships.
- 25:34Speaker 1: Ooh, nicely done, Ye're great, Ye're good stuff. Let's go
- 25:39Speaker 1: to Rotten Tomatoes and hear what they have to say.
- 25:41Speaker 1: Critics have this coming in at a rock solid eighty
- 25:44Speaker 1: six percent gang boom, pretty pretty darn good, and audience
- 25:48Speaker 1: members are right behind him at eighty eight percent. There
- 25:53Speaker 1: they notched it up a little bit. I guess they're
- 25:55Speaker 1: right in front.
- 25:56Speaker 3: Of them front definitely not behind.
- 25:58Speaker 1: I just met there in the a close proximity to
- 26:01Speaker 1: one another. The yeah, I'm not at NINSA, which is
- 26:06Speaker 1: obvious I think to everyone. But more important than all
- 26:10Speaker 1: of that and what those idiots all think is what
- 26:13Speaker 1: we idiots think. It's time for our hot take.
- 26:16Speaker 3: Hot take.
- 26:20Speaker 6: That's a hot take.
- 26:22Speaker 3: That's hot, he said, A bow and arrow with fire.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Oh's in the air. That was good. Good. Uh So,
- 26:31Speaker 1: I guess I will go first on this one. Oh, Rob,
- 26:34Speaker 1: you got a little bubble there? Easy? I did you
- 26:37Speaker 1: tell me? Okay, Yeah, I'm gonna go first. And I
- 26:41Speaker 1: feel like this is a first for this podcast. I
- 26:45Speaker 1: want to be super clear. I think this is a
- 26:48Speaker 1: really compelling movie. I think it has some really good
- 26:51Speaker 1: acting in it. But there is an absolute but coming here.
- 26:56Speaker 6: We're seeing on shadow screen right now.
- 26:58Speaker 1: Yes, there's two butts right now. I think it's a
- 27:04Speaker 1: super interesting movie. I think it's like well shot. I
- 27:06Speaker 1: think it's compelling. The soundtrack is super sweet, which I'm
- 27:09Speaker 1: sure everyone will talk about. I don't like this movie though.
- 27:13Speaker 1: I don't think I like it at all. Really, to
- 27:16Speaker 1: be honest with you, it just has not I think
- 27:18Speaker 1: I've only seen it twice. I never I watched it
- 27:22Speaker 1: again and I was like, this just does nothing for me.
- 27:25Speaker 1: And I don't know why. And I feel weird because
- 27:27Speaker 1: I'm always so positive. And yes, I really do think
- 27:30Speaker 1: they did a good job. I just think it doesn't
- 27:32Speaker 1: hit me in the right way. And I don't even
- 27:35Speaker 1: really know why. So my hot take is this movie
- 27:39Speaker 1: is not really for me.
- 27:41Speaker 3: I don't know that is Uh, that's the first time
- 27:45Speaker 3: I've ever really heard this. We've done. We did the
- 27:48Speaker 3: Wonder Woman sequel and you said more positive things.
- 27:52Speaker 1: But here's the thing about the Wonder Woman's sequel. That
- 27:55Speaker 1: movie sucked and I get that. But yeah, I don't
- 28:01Speaker 1: know because I think this movie is good. I just
- 28:03Speaker 1: think I don't get it. I don't know why I
- 28:05Speaker 1: feel so weirdly like apathetic about it. I'm just like,
- 28:09Speaker 1: I don't know. It doesn't really it just doesn't hit
- 28:12Speaker 1: home for me. But it has some really beautiful parts.
- 28:14Speaker 1: It's funny. I don't know. I'm just trying to be honest.
- 28:17Speaker 1: Can I give you my actual hottest take though.
- 28:20Speaker 5: Yes, absolutely so.
- 28:21Speaker 1: This crew, this trio of young Nair Jowell's, they go
- 28:26Speaker 1: to the bottom of this weird pit thing. They talk
- 28:29Speaker 1: with this lovely hippie couple that has just put their
- 28:34Speaker 1: baby down for a nap presumably or to bed, and
- 28:38Speaker 1: they just have a nice time and then they leave.
- 28:40Speaker 1: They walk about two feet and then they scream their
- 28:43Speaker 1: bloody heads on the whole time. It's like, the baby's right, it.
- 28:51Speaker 6: Is a boat, rob, How mad would you be?
- 28:56Speaker 1: That's what I thought? I will kill you?
- 29:00Speaker 3: Yeah, really good. I helped you guys out. Now the
- 29:04Speaker 3: baby's up all night appreciate it, but that's funny.
- 29:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know. So I don't know what else
- 29:09Speaker 1: to say. I this movie just doesn't do it for me.
- 29:12Speaker 1: But again I have I have lots of good things
- 29:14Speaker 1: to say about it, and I see that it's good.
- 29:16Speaker 1: I just, for whatever reason, doesn't hit me.
- 29:19Speaker 3: Yeah, man, I get this.
- 29:22Speaker 6: Just in Bugs will no longer be appearing at the
- 29:24Speaker 6: Oregon Getaway.
- 29:25Speaker 1: Yeah that's what I thought. Damn it. I knew it
- 29:28Speaker 1: would happen.
- 29:30Speaker 3: Yeah, well, cool, I get to follow that. I was
- 29:36Speaker 3: very smitten with this movie when it came out. I
- 29:39Speaker 3: had it on DVD back when people would would get those,
- 29:44Speaker 3: and I watched this one quite a bit. One of
- 29:47Speaker 3: the best soundtracks of all time. Really developed a love
- 29:51Speaker 3: for Colin Hay with this. Uh also from Scrubs to
- 29:56Speaker 3: Zach Braff Vehicles. I thought that cast in this was
- 30:01Speaker 3: awesome all around, even people who were only in for
- 30:05Speaker 3: one scene. Everybody crushed it. I already thought Natalie Portman
- 30:11Speaker 3: was super cute before this came out, but then This
- 30:13Speaker 3: and Closer and V for Vendetta came out within a
- 30:17Speaker 3: year and just really cemented my crush for her. It
- 30:22Speaker 3: opened my eyes to Peter sarsgard. I thought he really
- 30:26Speaker 3: shined in this, and I was actively looking for movies he.
- 30:31Speaker 1: Was in after watching this movie Nice.
- 30:34Speaker 3: I thought it was a tremendous directorial debut and writing
- 30:38Speaker 3: debut for Zach Braf.
- 30:40Speaker 5: He crushed it.
- 30:41Speaker 3: Kept the serious tone, was able to add some comedy
- 30:44Speaker 3: and romance, and I thought it was really well done.
- 30:47Speaker 3: He was so goofy and scrubs that this seemed like
- 30:50Speaker 3: a stretch for him, and I thought he totally pulled
- 30:53Speaker 3: it off.
- 30:55Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 30:56Speaker 3: My hot take, the meet cute with Natalie Portman could
- 31:00Speaker 3: never happen today because she said the R word for
- 31:04Speaker 3: mentally challenged, like fifteen times a lot.
- 31:08Speaker 1: Yeah, that did.
- 31:09Speaker 3: Not age well. I forgot about that. Another hot take,
- 31:15Speaker 3: I cannot hear three Times a Lady without that crazy
- 31:20Speaker 3: Jersey accent. Thanks fa that time. Hey, it's amazing so
- 31:29Speaker 3: that every time I hear that song it brings me
- 31:31Speaker 3: back to this.
- 31:32Speaker 1: But what a choice for a film too, or for
- 31:34Speaker 1: a funeral? Sorry, it's amazing.
- 31:37Speaker 3: Three time it's the late.
- 31:39Speaker 1: Hey, I love her so much.
- 31:42Speaker 3: That's my hot take, Tim, What do you got, buddy?
- 31:44Speaker 1: Love it?
- 31:47Speaker 6: I wish I could give you, you know, like a
- 31:51Speaker 6: like a fresh I wish I could watch this movie
- 31:54Speaker 6: again for the first time now and see what I
- 31:56Speaker 6: think about it. You know, it's hard to separate because
- 32:00Speaker 6: at the time I'd never seen anything like this. This
- 32:02Speaker 6: is the first with this classify as an art film
- 32:05Speaker 6: in your opinion, Yeah, yeah, it certainly was the most
- 32:11Speaker 6: art arty of films I had ever seen at this point,
- 32:15Speaker 6: and I think, so, yeah, I'm trying to give you
- 32:20Speaker 6: like my teenage hot take first. It blew me away
- 32:22Speaker 6: at the time because again, I was such a huge
- 32:26Speaker 6: fan of Scrubs and Zach Braff. I was really rooting
- 32:30Speaker 6: for him too, you know, And so I think I
- 32:32Speaker 6: was blown away, like Rob said, by his performance in
- 32:38Speaker 6: this because it was so different from his character on Scrubs. Sure,
- 32:44Speaker 6: and knowing that he has like those kind of like
- 32:47Speaker 6: comedy chops, you know, particularly like physical comedy and stuff
- 32:52Speaker 6: like that. You know, it was impressive, how like understated
- 32:56Speaker 6: his performance was. Yeah, and I was really impressed with that.
- 33:00Speaker 6: What an opening to a film. I had kind of
- 33:03Speaker 6: forgotten about that part too. There's there's like a few
- 33:06Speaker 6: things that I'd forgotten about, but definitely forgot how it opened.
- 33:09Speaker 6: So I was just playing, Yes, you know that. But
- 33:13Speaker 6: then like right into that scene of him in bed
- 33:16Speaker 6: getting the call from his dad, I was just like, Wow,
- 33:19Speaker 6: this is like really cool, well done, well shot, like
- 33:24Speaker 6: all the things you know, I I was. I was appreciative,
- 33:30Speaker 6: you know, immediately at the how everything looked, and I
- 33:35Speaker 6: think I now have more of an appreciation for for that,
- 33:39Speaker 6: you know, like especially as his debut. It's like this
- 33:42Speaker 6: is really like beautiful too, and interesting shots and transitions
- 33:46Speaker 6: and stuff. Yeah, I mean I I I still like it,
- 33:53Speaker 6: you know. You know, it's kind of there's kind of
- 33:56Speaker 6: a slow pace to it, but I you know that's
- 33:58Speaker 6: intentional too. You know. It's like it makes you feel
- 34:01Speaker 6: like he is feeling, which may be part of what
- 34:04Speaker 6: Bugs doesn't like about it too. It's kind of gross
- 34:07Speaker 6: and gray and anyway, but I discovered so much music
- 34:14Speaker 6: from this and scraps like you mentioned too. I mean
- 34:18Speaker 6: this was like probably the first time I ever delved
- 34:21Speaker 6: really into music that wasn't on the radio, you know,
- 34:25Speaker 6: So I was like very thankful for that. Same with
- 34:27Speaker 6: the you as far as fall in love with Colin
- 34:28Speaker 6: hey oh so much. I didn't remember how little of
- 34:33Speaker 6: his song was.
- 34:34Speaker 3: In that same say well you know, we we listened
- 34:37Speaker 3: to the soundtrack. I'm assuming you listened to the soundtrack
- 34:39Speaker 3: over yeah, same.
- 34:41Speaker 6: Yeah, But let's see if I if I jotted anything
- 34:46Speaker 6: else down here. I thought there was like a lot
- 34:48Speaker 6: of powerful scenes and uh, you know, some social commentary
- 34:54Speaker 6: and uh, you know, I liked I really liked kind
- 34:57Speaker 6: of the messaging. I mean it was like kind of
- 35:00Speaker 6: ahead of its time too, you know, it was like,
- 35:02Speaker 6: certainly the I felt like the beginning of the era
- 35:05Speaker 6: when people are starting to like over prescribe drugs and
- 35:09Speaker 6: stuff like that, you know, especially like the mood altering stuff,
- 35:13Speaker 6: and so I thought that was that was kind of cool,
- 35:16Speaker 6: you know that. Having been said, there's a lot of
- 35:18Speaker 6: people that shouldn't just like cold turkey go off their meds.
- 35:21Speaker 1: So that's for sure what I thought, you know.
- 35:25Speaker 6: But at the same time, I like the the encouragement
- 35:28Speaker 6: to just like feel Also, you know, also, your dad.
- 35:32Speaker 1: Probably shouldn't be just like prescribing those meds like that.
- 35:37Speaker 3: I felt like that was the most unbelievable thing of
- 35:40Speaker 3: the whole movie, was that he was his physician. Yeah.
- 35:46Speaker 6: Yeah, but overall, I really liked it. Again, it's hard
- 35:49Speaker 6: to say if I would like it as much now,
- 35:52Speaker 6: I think, so I will see too, Like I did
- 35:54Speaker 6: kind of notice a couple of things like some odd
- 35:56Speaker 6: edits with like a fresh eye or something, you know,
- 35:59Speaker 6: like and I don't know if I was just on
- 36:02Speaker 6: the lookout for that this time around, you know, like
- 36:06Speaker 6: but uh, you know again it's his it's his debut.
- 36:10Speaker 6: Sore probably got into the cuttagram and it was like, oh,
- 36:13Speaker 6: I wish I had more options here. I haven't been said, Wow,
- 36:18Speaker 6: I mean to be able to deliver something like that
- 36:20Speaker 6: the first time you've written, the first time you've directed,
- 36:23Speaker 6: and you act in it like it's just nuts, and
- 36:26Speaker 6: then for it to have that that kind of rating
- 36:28Speaker 6: and everything and yeah, it's I'm impressed.
- 36:31Speaker 3: Yeah, agreed, take hot, take chat what you got buddy.
- 36:38Speaker 7: I'm in the same boat as far as uh. When
- 36:41Speaker 7: Tim said like it's hard to separate because you know,
- 36:44Speaker 7: the first time I watched it, I was like, well,
- 36:45Speaker 7: this is amazing because all of the things that he
- 36:49Speaker 7: said was like the you know, I'm studying film scoring,
- 36:54Speaker 7: you know after this basically go to college.
- 36:56Speaker 5: I'm like film scoring.
- 36:57Speaker 7: But part of it is because this kind of thing
- 36:59Speaker 7: happens where like I'll like a song anyway, and then
- 37:02Speaker 7: I'll see it in a movie and it will change
- 37:03Speaker 7: everything about it to be the best song I've ever heard,
- 37:05Speaker 7: you know. And so in addition to like hearing new
- 37:08Speaker 7: songs and like you know, Image and Heap and Colin
- 37:12Speaker 7: Hey and all these songs get I'm like, what is
- 37:13Speaker 7: all this?
- 37:14Speaker 5: This is the this is new you know.
- 37:17Speaker 7: And but yeah, just seeing how that gets put into
- 37:20Speaker 7: a scene and how well that can work, I was
- 37:22Speaker 7: just like, whoa, all right, this is this changes everything.
- 37:25Speaker 5: About music to me.
- 37:28Speaker 7: Yeah, And I loved all the little quirky things that
- 37:30Speaker 7: it seemed like that time period kind of started doing.
- 37:33Speaker 7: It's like just putting these like weird, you know, Like
- 37:36Speaker 7: I mean, Lebowski had the most absurd scenes and some
- 37:40Speaker 7: of them are based on reality, which is truely, you
- 37:41Speaker 7: know what I mean. Like they would just put these
- 37:43Speaker 7: like this would never happen seen in a movie, and
- 37:46Speaker 7: you're like, well it actually did. So it's like believable.
- 37:49Speaker 7: I mean, it's ridiculous, but some of it is believable enough.
- 37:51Speaker 7: I'm like, I don't probably want to stay in a
- 37:53Speaker 7: lot of adults after this, you know. I feel like,
- 37:56Speaker 7: you know, I'm gonna be looking for holes. But yeah,
- 38:00Speaker 7: the only thing that like really got me this time
- 38:03Speaker 7: is like I was thinking how hard it is to
- 38:05Speaker 7: write a whole movie and then end it, like if
- 38:08Speaker 7: you have a poignant movie and an end it poignantly,
- 38:10Speaker 7: and like I just had an issue with his last
- 38:13Speaker 7: Like he runs back and he's like, I was dumb. Anyway,
- 38:16Speaker 7: what do we do now? And it's like mouth is
- 38:18Speaker 7: kind of open, and I was like, huh, well, you know,
- 38:23Speaker 7: but just something about like how do you write a
- 38:25Speaker 7: line that actually, you know it would be impossible? So
- 38:28Speaker 7: I'm like, it's the best you could really do. In
- 38:30Speaker 7: that moment, it's like what do we do?
- 38:31Speaker 6: You know?
- 38:31Speaker 5: And I get kind of but it seems like kind
- 38:33Speaker 5: of like it didn't It could have hit home a
- 38:36Speaker 5: little bit harder to me, But I was so enamored
- 38:39Speaker 5: with Natalie Borman at the times, it didn't matter whatever happened,
- 38:42Speaker 5: you know, was gonna make with me.
- 38:44Speaker 1: Yeah, you get it, I get it for show.
- 38:48Speaker 7: Yeah, but you know, if you have a dog scratching
- 38:51Speaker 7: himself in a movie, I'm probably gonna like it.
- 38:53Speaker 1: Yeah, it's pretty great.
- 38:55Speaker 5: A lot of dog stuff, yeah, a lot of dogs.
- 38:58Speaker 6: He wasn't scratching.
- 38:58Speaker 5: But oh that's what they Oh, I love this movie.
- 39:07Speaker 1: Now this is the last movie changes everything nice well
- 39:16Speaker 1: hot takes all that. Yes, let's move forward and talk
- 39:20Speaker 1: about our favorite acting performance.
- 39:21Speaker 3: Let's name the dude the dude.
- 39:24Speaker 1: I'm the dude, So that's what you call me, you
- 39:27Speaker 1: know that? Or his dudeness or duder or you know,
- 39:33Speaker 1: eldudo reno. If you're not into the whole brevity thing, tim,
- 39:36Speaker 1: what do you got for this bud?
- 39:38Speaker 6: I mean, is anyone not going to say Zach Brath
- 39:41Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 39:43Speaker 1: I I'm not Actually, yeah, I'm not either.
- 39:47Speaker 3: I would agree that Zach Braff has the biggest arc,
- 39:52Speaker 3: but he's great. Yeah, he's He's not my dude either, yea.
- 39:56Speaker 6: And again I don't know. I don't Again, I don't
- 39:58Speaker 6: know if if I want to to this movie not
- 40:00Speaker 6: knowing anything about him, sure, you know, I don't know
- 40:03Speaker 6: if I would be as impressed with his acting. But
- 40:09Speaker 6: but I thought he Yeah, I thought he was great.
- 40:12Speaker 3: He was he definitely wonderful. Well, and he's pretty much
- 40:16Speaker 3: like kind of emotionless for the first half the movie
- 40:19Speaker 3: and then after he doesn't take his meds. You see
- 40:22Speaker 3: that he starts feeling more and getting more worked up,
- 40:25Speaker 3: and he I thought that came through really well.
- 40:29Speaker 6: I'm always really impressed too, when when characters can like
- 40:34Speaker 6: pull off something without saying a word. And that that
- 40:39Speaker 6: scene we talked about where he's in bed and he's
- 40:42Speaker 6: like listening to that. Yeah, I was gonna say voicemail,
- 40:45Speaker 6: but it was actually on a physical answering machine, answering machine. See,
- 40:51Speaker 6: I couldn't come with the word right now any anyone
- 40:55Speaker 6: under thirties googling answering machine. But when he's listening to that,
- 40:59Speaker 6: in his face changes like the whole time. You know,
- 41:03Speaker 6: he starts out just like irritated to even like hear
- 41:05Speaker 6: his dad's voice, and then like his face like softens,
- 41:09Speaker 6: you know, as he's listening to that. And then by
- 41:11Speaker 6: the end you could see you know, like his grief,
- 41:15Speaker 6: or at least as far as he can experience grief.
- 41:17Speaker 6: And I was just like really impressed with that, you know,
- 41:19Speaker 6: without saying a word. But anyway, damn it.
- 41:24Speaker 1: I do like his I like his arc from like
- 41:27Speaker 1: being in Hollywood. It sounds like he had some success,
- 41:30Speaker 1: you know, so people think he's successful, but really he's
- 41:34Speaker 1: just working this job. He doesn't love and whatever, and
- 41:36Speaker 1: then by the end of the movie, it seems like
- 41:40Speaker 1: maybe to some people he's failed because he's like back
- 41:42Speaker 1: home and whatever, but he's actually happy for the first time.
- 41:45Speaker 1: I like that juxtaposition a lot. I thought that was
- 41:48Speaker 1: really well done, even though I don't disagree Chad. I'm like,
- 41:53Speaker 1: maybe not the best ending in the world for like
- 41:55Speaker 1: the final line, but what do you, I don't know.
- 41:57Speaker 5: It's just that's the hardest thing impossible, Like I didn't
- 42:01Speaker 5: really have That was as close as I come to
- 42:03Speaker 5: a hot take. Honestly, I was like, well, maybe that
- 42:05Speaker 5: just everything else I love so much.
- 42:07Speaker 1: I'm like, well, then, I think that's part of the
- 42:09Speaker 1: reason I hate to say, like I don't like a
- 42:10Speaker 1: movie because so many people work so hard on this
- 42:13Speaker 1: and like it's so unlikely that it's going to be
- 42:17Speaker 1: any good at all, right, that, like I just don't
- 42:19Speaker 1: want to be the jerky's Like, I don't know, but yeah,
- 42:23Speaker 1: I think it's I like that story arc a lot. Though.
- 42:26Speaker 1: I think that was cool.
- 42:28Speaker 5: Chatham was your dude, Bud.
- 42:31Speaker 7: I'm I mean, I'm gonna go with Natalie Porman just
- 42:35Speaker 7: because I honestly like all the characters I understand what
- 42:39Speaker 7: you're saying about Zach Braffan that if you're coming from
- 42:42Speaker 7: Scrubs and you see this whole new direction, and I
- 42:44Speaker 7: do think he was incredible at it and just doing
- 42:47Speaker 7: all of that himself, writing and directing and acting first time,
- 42:51Speaker 7: you know, all of that is impressive. And this like
- 42:56Speaker 7: a kind of like how you know, in a Beautiful Mind,
- 42:58Speaker 7: it is like all the cares around him are crazy
- 43:01Speaker 7: and very charismatic and excited to watch. It's kind of
- 43:04Speaker 7: like this in this movie because yeah, he's so late,
- 43:07Speaker 7: like he doesn't have feelings in the beginning, right, So yeah,
- 43:10Speaker 7: all of these other characters have to make up for
- 43:12Speaker 7: that kind of thing. And I think that Natalie Portman,
- 43:15Speaker 7: in addition to just being awesome anyway, she's on the
- 43:17Speaker 7: screen the longest. So I was like, yeah, she's probably
- 43:20Speaker 7: my guy as far as like the best actor. But
- 43:22Speaker 7: there's so many those little parts come in and they're
- 43:25Speaker 7: all like seeing him again. I was like, well, there's
- 43:27Speaker 7: just you know, hardware store. All the guys are awesome,
- 43:30Speaker 7: however long they are on the screen.
- 43:32Speaker 3: Yeah, the Tucci for sure, so many good ones.
- 43:35Speaker 5: There's so many tuoces. But yeah, for me, it's her.
- 43:38Speaker 5: She did a great job with that.
- 43:39Speaker 3: I'm with you, a huge fan of Natalie Portman, and
- 43:44Speaker 3: if she's in the movie, she's gonna be up there
- 43:46Speaker 3: for the dude. For me, I just thought she was
- 43:50Speaker 3: so much fun in this movie.
- 43:52Speaker 1: What do you have, Bukes, Yeah, I had the same thing.
- 43:54Speaker 1: I picked Natalie Portman, uh, pretty much for the same
- 43:57Speaker 1: reasons you guys had. I think I think it's a
- 43:59Speaker 1: great about Zach Braff of like he's supposed to be
- 44:02Speaker 1: muted kind of for that whole first part because of
- 44:05Speaker 1: the like the drugs that he's on. I think that's
- 44:07Speaker 1: a great point. I just think what she did is
- 44:10Speaker 1: so much harder. She's totally believable as this super weird
- 44:15Speaker 1: character that's got all this baggage stuff going on. Her
- 44:19Speaker 1: home life is not bad but just like not you know,
- 44:23Speaker 1: super typical either at the same time, and like, I
- 44:26Speaker 1: don't know, I just thought she was wonderful in this
- 44:29Speaker 1: as kind of a free spirit, you know, slash, like
- 44:35Speaker 1: she's full of life and she is also you know,
- 44:39Speaker 1: he's not, but they need each other. I don't know, Like,
- 44:42Speaker 1: I think that part is really beautiful, But I thought
- 44:44Speaker 1: she was awesome.
- 44:47Speaker 3: Yeah, yep. Well, let's talk about some of these supporting characters.
- 44:51Speaker 3: Let's go to the tuc GI Award salty, who is
- 44:55Speaker 3: your favorite supporting character? Tim?
- 44:58Speaker 6: So I went with Natalie for this. That makes sense,
- 45:04Speaker 6: you know, because she was technically a supporting character, I guess.
- 45:07Speaker 6: But you're right, probably a more impressive acting performance than
- 45:13Speaker 6: Zach really. I But I also have honorable mention for
- 45:18Speaker 6: Peter sars Guard, Yeah, because both of them played characters that,
- 45:25Speaker 6: on paper are super unlikable.
- 45:28Speaker 3: I wrote down the exact same thing up liking both.
- 45:32Speaker 6: Of them, you know. And and that's really especially him,
- 45:38Speaker 6: especially him, you know, and it's like, how how does
- 45:43Speaker 6: he make make us think he's sweet for giving back
- 45:46Speaker 6: something he stole? You know, the weirdest thing.
- 45:49Speaker 3: From a grave? He's a grave robber?
- 45:52Speaker 1: Yeah you scamp?
- 45:56Speaker 6: Yeah yeah that guy.
- 46:01Speaker 1: Yeah that's great.
- 46:03Speaker 6: Yeah. So and and especially yeah, the Natalie thing, I mean,
- 46:07Speaker 6: she has to she had to what a demanding role
- 46:11Speaker 6: to do all that, you know, to be like adorable
- 46:15Speaker 6: and like insane and uh manic and playful, but also
- 46:22Speaker 6: like really vulnerable at times. And it's just it's it's
- 46:26Speaker 6: really it's really anorable that she she pulled that off a.
- 46:29Speaker 1: Liar who's lovable still you know, like all that stuff too,
- 46:33Speaker 1: of course, yeah.
- 46:34Speaker 6: Right, and with you know, it's like it'd be really
- 46:36Speaker 6: easy to like overdo it too, you know some of
- 46:39Speaker 6: that some of that stuff, and I, you know, I
- 46:42Speaker 6: felt like I was extrasensitive on this rewatch, like really
- 46:45Speaker 6: eyeballing her because again, I was just totally smitten the
- 46:48Speaker 6: first time around, like you guys do absolutely and so
- 46:52Speaker 6: that you know, so this time around, now I'm forty
- 46:55Speaker 6: two by the time the sayers, I'll be forty three. Yeah,
- 46:59Speaker 6: and you know, so now I'm a little bit more
- 47:01Speaker 6: like if this was happening in a in a waiting
- 47:05Speaker 6: room I was in, I would be annoyed at this probably.
- 47:11Speaker 6: And also, you know, I'm not I'm totally not buying
- 47:14Speaker 6: Zach Braff, not immediately, just loving the attention. You know,
- 47:17Speaker 6: He's like, I gotta fill out this thing. Yeah, yeah,
- 47:21Speaker 6: I'm like idiot. Yeah, but anyway, yeah, she she crushed it.
- 47:27Speaker 3: Yeah, well Chatham, what you got, Bud?
- 47:32Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 47:32Speaker 3: I like that.
- 47:32Speaker 7: I was going to ask. I was like, Hey, did
- 47:34Speaker 7: anybody else feel like an old man watching this and
- 47:36Speaker 7: be like, oh, that's annoying?
- 47:37Speaker 5: Some of the stuff. Like some of them, I was like, oh,
- 47:40Speaker 5: I'm so old now. I was like, oh, what's this
- 47:44Speaker 5: young love? Yeah, you know, but no, for me, I
- 47:50Speaker 5: thought stars Guard.
- 47:51Speaker 7: Because of that, he has an arc that you're like, yeah,
- 47:55Speaker 7: he's just kind of a gross guy, and but he
- 47:59Speaker 7: does this nice thing kind of like he's I don't
- 48:04Speaker 7: know how. There was something in Arrested Development when when
- 48:07Speaker 7: Job steals Michael's watch and then he gives it back
- 48:11Speaker 7: to him and he's like, you've stolen so much from
- 48:13Speaker 7: me and this is the only thing you've ever give
- 48:14Speaker 7: him back. And he's like, well, I wanted you to
- 48:15Speaker 7: have it, and I'm like, that's what it is. Like
- 48:18Speaker 7: You're still like totally, it's really nice of you to
- 48:21Speaker 7: give it back.
- 48:21Speaker 5: That's that's more than I was expecting.
- 48:23Speaker 7: So there's something to be said about him, Like this
- 48:25Speaker 7: sleazy character, he still has a heart and he's just
- 48:28Speaker 7: doing his best. He's like I don't know, but like
- 48:31Speaker 7: he he might be bad according to like world standards,
- 48:34Speaker 7: but you can tell that for his friends, he'll do anything.
- 48:36Speaker 7: So there's something to be that shines through that kind
- 48:38Speaker 7: of loyalty. Sure that he's like he'll fight off whoever
- 48:42Speaker 7: you know, to make sure those friends are happy. And
- 48:44Speaker 7: that's I think that's the thing that makes us go, like,
- 48:46Speaker 7: that's fine, and he took it, I don't, you know.
- 48:49Speaker 6: But yeah, I'll add like arguably perhaps a better choice
- 48:55Speaker 6: even for the lead in this movie, you know, like
- 48:58Speaker 6: he could totally pull it off because he's like, he's
- 49:00Speaker 6: got the same vibe and he's not on the meds,
- 49:03Speaker 6: you know, but he's he's just like life has just
- 49:05Speaker 6: got him, you know. I agree, Yeah, right, But I.
- 49:09Speaker 1: Do think it's interesting too, Like by the end, you're
- 49:11Speaker 1: kind of like, yeah, he doesn't have things figured out,
- 49:14Speaker 1: but he kind of has things figured out, like you know,
- 49:16Speaker 1: they're like maybe he really is in control of all
- 49:19Speaker 1: of it.
- 49:19Speaker 3: You know.
- 49:20Speaker 1: It's so interesting. Yeah, he is going to make a
- 49:23Speaker 1: bunch of money from those desert storm.
- 49:29Speaker 3: What a thing?
- 49:30Speaker 5: Is that real?
- 49:32Speaker 6: Research? If that's real?
- 49:33Speaker 1: I have not I know, the like the during the
- 49:37Speaker 1: War on Terror, it was real, they had like playing
- 49:39Speaker 1: cards with you know, the various leaders on him. But
- 49:42Speaker 1: I don't know about the desert storm thing. It probably is.
- 49:45Speaker 1: I have no idea.
- 49:47Speaker 6: Did y'all know how old he was when he when
- 49:50Speaker 6: they filmed this. I'm curious because at that one moment
- 49:52Speaker 6: where he's talking to Geen Smart and he's like, I'm
- 49:53Speaker 6: twenty six years old, and I was like, yeah, are you?
- 49:57Speaker 6: Though I didn't have to say an.
- 49:58Speaker 3: You're receding hairline and is not saying it's let's all
- 50:03Speaker 3: just take a breath before we hurt someone's feelings.
- 50:07Speaker 5: Easy.
- 50:08Speaker 1: He was born in seventy one, What did this come in?
- 50:12Speaker 3: Two thousand and four?
- 50:14Speaker 6: All right, what do you got?
- 50:15Speaker 3: Thirty three?
- 50:18Speaker 5: Thirty three thirty three?
- 50:20Speaker 1: That's what I said to it. My mic cutout, I think,
- 50:22Speaker 1: oh cut out?
- 50:23Speaker 3: Oh nice?
- 50:24Speaker 1: Yeahs math or math, I'm with you.
- 50:31Speaker 3: The fact that we don't hate him, yeah, shows how
- 50:35Speaker 3: great of an actor he is. My runner up was
- 50:39Speaker 3: going to be Jeffrey Errand is Carl Benson, the dude
- 50:43Speaker 3: who's trying to sell them in his pyramid scheme, like
- 50:46Speaker 3: that's a hardware store.
- 50:47Speaker 6: He's so the whole film, that's.
- 50:49Speaker 1: The Shotsbury's guy. Yes from Super Troopers, right.
- 50:53Speaker 5: Yeah, exactly, Yeah, Yeah, I quoted that so much, just that.
- 51:00Speaker 1: Oh, that is a great scene that.
- 51:02Speaker 3: People are talking about. It is so funny.
- 51:06Speaker 1: Yeah, it's also so uncomfortable, Like I feel like everyone
- 51:10Speaker 1: has had that conversation with someone that they sort of tangentially.
- 51:15Speaker 5: Now, Oh sure, Yeah, that.
- 51:18Speaker 6: Was a great scene. Everyone in that scene was really good. Yeah,
- 51:21Speaker 6: Natalie immediately pulls on her ear to him, but then
- 51:28Speaker 6: starts like, I'm out of here. I can get that thing?
- 51:32Speaker 3: Is it?
- 51:32Speaker 6: Is it heavy?
- 51:33Speaker 3: Hell?
- 51:38Speaker 5: Okay, Yeah, that's.
- 51:41Speaker 1: A great pick. I love it.
- 51:44Speaker 6: I immediately I am dB that guy too, because that
- 51:47Speaker 6: was like he was so familiar to that. I feel
- 51:52Speaker 6: like I know him from outside of this. But when
- 51:54Speaker 6: I looked at all this other stuff, I hadn't really
- 51:56Speaker 6: seen much of it, Like I never saw super Troopers and.
- 52:00Speaker 5: What Madam Secretary was.
- 52:02Speaker 3: The last time I watched it was in your living
- 52:04Speaker 3: room with Chance.
- 52:06Speaker 1: Wow.
- 52:07Speaker 6: Yeah, I was sleeping on the couch next day.
- 52:10Speaker 5: Yeah to the list.
- 52:14Speaker 6: But yeah, I mean I'll go watch whatever that dude's
- 52:16Speaker 6: in now.
- 52:17Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 52:17Speaker 6: He's done way more serious stuff than I expected. He's
- 52:20Speaker 6: done a lot of TV stuff that's like, yeah, comedies
- 52:23Speaker 6: I just saw.
- 52:24Speaker 3: Most recently, I saw him in that show Physical with
- 52:28Speaker 3: Rose Burn. Oh, he's a character in that.
- 52:32Speaker 1: I watched that. I really should It's okay, Mmm, maybe
- 52:38Speaker 1: that's why I never watched it.
- 52:39Speaker 3: Yeah, who are you going to pick duges for your two.
- 52:44Speaker 1: Well, Rob, I want you to know this is no
- 52:46Speaker 1: word of a lie. I wrote once, twice, three times
- 52:48Speaker 1: a lady Jackie Hoffman. I love her so much. She's
- 52:52Speaker 1: just wonderful.
- 52:53Speaker 5: She doesn't doel logical, but that first one she does
- 52:56Speaker 5: so much.
- 52:57Speaker 1: The funeral scene and then sitting on the couch is
- 53:00Speaker 1: so funny. I made you a shirt, beautiful, so great.
- 53:06Speaker 6: I feel like a butthole saying this. But do we
- 53:08Speaker 6: know if her eyes are really like that or if
- 53:10Speaker 6: that was a choice? Right?
- 53:12Speaker 3: Yeah, but they must be like that, right, I don't
- 53:15Speaker 3: know the pay strong choice is strong choice.
- 53:22Speaker 1: But I love her so much. I'm with you on that. Also,
- 53:25Speaker 1: Bilbo Baggins is in this movie, so ian Holm hit
- 53:28Speaker 1: me with that. Of course, he doesn't do a lot liable,
- 53:32Speaker 1: kind of sinister and weird.
- 53:34Speaker 6: Yeah, I don't like an odd delivery, Yeah, just like
- 53:40Speaker 6: or just he went for unlikable and nailed it.
- 53:44Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, and like even the heart to heart scene,
- 53:48Speaker 3: like I didn't really get much from him.
- 53:52Speaker 6: Yeah almost, Yeah.
- 53:56Speaker 1: The scene with the fridge door is like sinister at
- 53:59Speaker 1: the beginning, Like it's like a horror film or something
- 54:01Speaker 1: like I hated it.
- 54:03Speaker 6: But he's so but Zach gets to like scare him
- 54:07Speaker 6: awake later.
- 54:08Speaker 5: Yeah, that's pretty Yeah, that.
- 54:09Speaker 1: Is true, and that is fun and maybe he's you know,
- 54:12Speaker 1: trying his best. I don't know. I also liked that
- 54:18Speaker 1: Michael Weston guy, the cop.
- 54:20Speaker 3: Jenny dud another guy that I was like, I'm going
- 54:24Speaker 3: to watch everything this dude is in. He crushed that scene.
- 54:30Speaker 3: Jim Parsons crushes his scene.
- 54:32Speaker 1: I mean that.
- 54:33Speaker 5: Yeah, it's the best.
- 54:35Speaker 1: That is truly something. When he walks by, it's incredible,
- 54:40Speaker 1: and the moment.
- 54:42Speaker 5: Stops look, the stopping look is is unbelievable. Just how
- 54:46Speaker 5: long that is.
- 54:47Speaker 1: It's such a perfect shot. I love that so much.
- 54:50Speaker 1: It's it is really good.
- 54:51Speaker 5: Method man, dude, method man blew me away.
- 54:56Speaker 1: Back then, it was like, yeah, so Jeane Smart, she's great. Yeah,
- 55:03Speaker 1: she's a great troubled character in this or maybe not
- 55:06Speaker 1: very troubled, but seems like moderately troubled, pretty trashy anyway, great.
- 55:12Speaker 6: Okay, Jackie Hoffman does not appear to have crossed eyes.
- 55:16Speaker 3: Okay, really so huh.
- 55:20Speaker 1: Wow? Do you think that just happened to her like
- 55:22Speaker 1: she was having a medical emergency or it was a choice.
- 55:25Speaker 6: I think it was a choice old brother arth though
- 55:31Speaker 6: you know what's his name? Like the best no, no,
- 55:35Speaker 6: the best character actor. Yeah, right, definitely a choice.
- 55:43Speaker 1: That's a good.
- 55:45Speaker 3: I don't know if you guys watch Handmaid's Tale the show,
- 55:49Speaker 3: but Natalie Portman's mom in this the actor's name is
- 55:53Speaker 3: Anne Dowd. She is a horrible character on Handmaid's Tale,
- 56:00Speaker 3: and I forgot that she was in this movie. So
- 56:02Speaker 3: they're just like, oh my god, I hate you.
- 56:06Speaker 6: Oh she is.
- 56:08Speaker 3: I think she's won an Emmy for that role because
- 56:10Speaker 3: she's just a monster in that show, Handmaid's Tale, and
- 56:13Speaker 3: then she's just kind of a lovely mom in this movie.
- 56:17Speaker 3: She's quite the actress. What did you say her name
- 56:19Speaker 3: was Anne Dowd?
- 56:21Speaker 6: Did you know that already?
- 56:23Speaker 3: I did not know her name. I looked her up
- 56:27Speaker 3: after Handmaid's Tale.
- 56:28Speaker 1: Was just like she she's incredible and that that's awesome.
- 56:31Speaker 6: I think the first time I watched this movie too,
- 56:33Speaker 6: I didn't know who method Man was, so that was
- 56:36Speaker 6: pretty wild.
- 56:37Speaker 1: Yeah I could see that.
- 56:40Speaker 6: Yeah, he was cool. Like what interesting choice to.
- 56:46Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a good scene.
- 56:50Speaker 5: Well, I feel like we should go to.
- 56:52Speaker 1: Some of these scenes.
- 56:53Speaker 3: Speaking of yes, And I think we should pick our favorites,
- 56:56Speaker 3: and let's picklingis because it's quite simple, really, dingus ingus.
- 57:02Speaker 1: I can talk about my dingas all night long.
- 57:05Speaker 3: Tim, you want to start it off.
- 57:07Speaker 6: Sure, I picked Aunt Sylvia singing three Times a Lady
- 57:10Speaker 6: at the funeral.
- 57:14Speaker 1: That is amazing.
- 57:16Speaker 6: Yeah, so you're so you hear that every time you
- 57:20Speaker 6: hear either think that or I think Wheat doing it
- 57:23Speaker 6: on s n L. Do you remember that?
- 57:26Speaker 1: I don't remember that. I'll have to look that.
- 57:28Speaker 3: I always think of Wookie pub yeah in aut places.
- 57:33Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well every time I'm on here, we
- 57:39Speaker 6: like have a list of stuff that we have to
- 57:41Speaker 6: watch when this is over, to watch you watch that
- 57:44Speaker 6: after this? It's fairy.
- 57:45Speaker 1: So what is it? I need to write it down.
- 57:48Speaker 6: Just look up like s n L Buckwheat Sings or something.
- 57:52Speaker 6: I'll find it.
- 57:55Speaker 5: Oh that's so good.
- 57:56Speaker 3: That's a really another strong choice for a song.
- 58:04Speaker 8: Oregon get Away and you can tell she can see too,
- 58:08Speaker 8: you know, yeah, because she does the one run.
- 58:11Speaker 6: But it's funny and I love yeah, Oh my god, Yeah.
- 58:17Speaker 1: It's so good, so good.
- 58:20Speaker 6: And then that scene after that too, you know where
- 58:22Speaker 6: she's like talking to him.
- 58:24Speaker 1: I'm just afraid we might not see you for and
- 58:26Speaker 1: you yeah, you know, you know.
- 58:28Speaker 6: People like that too. You try on this shirt, you know,
- 58:32Speaker 6: in case we don't see you again, you know.
- 58:34Speaker 3: Yeah, give you that little guilt guilt trip, like yeah,
- 58:39Speaker 3: I have this guilt sandwich. Well, and then that that's
- 58:42Speaker 3: like the shot of the movie, him in the shirt
- 58:46Speaker 3: and the bathroom with the sad design.
- 58:49Speaker 5: It's incredible, good call. What do you have Chatham?
- 58:54Speaker 3: Uh?
- 58:55Speaker 7: I mean, I don't know if there's a few, but
- 59:00Speaker 7: the we already talked about this, the suit of armor thing,
- 59:03Speaker 7: that entire scene, but yes, I used to mention that,
- 59:09Speaker 7: but I also mentioned the other one, but the one
- 59:12Speaker 7: I always laughed at.
- 59:14Speaker 5: It's just shooting the air fire arrow in the air
- 59:17Speaker 5: and the overhead of them, like to like, whyre to this?
- 59:22Speaker 3: You know?
- 59:22Speaker 5: And that just her you know. I was like, that's
- 59:27Speaker 5: such a short little thing and it gets me every time.
- 59:29Speaker 1: And I just I watched it like three times, and
- 59:32Speaker 1: Natalie Portman is so funny in that her legs are
- 59:36Speaker 1: just flopping all over.
- 59:38Speaker 5: And I was like that I think of it. I
- 59:40Speaker 5: was like, yeah, that's what you do. If that's what's
- 59:42Speaker 5: happenings like looking.
- 59:43Speaker 1: Trying to wouldn't you just pick a direction and go it?
- 59:47Speaker 5: No, I can't tell no, I can't do that.
- 59:50Speaker 1: Yeah right, you know, I'm new to the flaming arrow game,
- 59:53Speaker 1: so it wasn't.
- 59:54Speaker 5: I mean, I've tried it obviously, right after the movie.
- 59:58Speaker 6: In the nose with one point blank, it wasn't blaming.
- 1:00:00Speaker 6: But when we were shooting on music video for Brother,
- 1:00:04Speaker 6: some of the LARPers shot me in the nose.
- 1:00:08Speaker 5: Incredible.
- 1:00:09Speaker 6: Yeah, so yeah, one of those you'd see me doing aportment. Yeah,
- 1:00:18Speaker 6: and that's all those scenes kind of like you mentioned
- 1:00:19Speaker 6: earlier Chatham, where it's like it seems like completely outlandish,
- 1:00:23Speaker 6: except that's probably that's something like we would do if
- 1:00:26Speaker 6: we had more money than we knew what to do it.
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:00:30Speaker 5: Yeah yeah yeah, super fun though.
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: Were they like, yeah, I guess we'll do it.
- 1:00:36Speaker 5: Yeah, No, that seems like fun, let's try sure.
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: Yeah, so funny that.
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I think this is this was tough because it's
- 1:00:47Speaker 3: all these little scenes that are all awesome, and so
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: I think my number one is the night in Armor
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: breakfast scene because it's really funny, but you also get
- 1:00:57Speaker 3: like a peek into Peter Sarrows guard Geene Smart's relationship,
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: which is complicated. It's tense, right, like, yeah.
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: That's the part I liked about it. It was funny
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: and it was tense, and yeah.
- 1:01:10Speaker 3: It was, but they clearly love each other, like you know,
- 1:01:13Speaker 3: she loves him, and so I think that's my number one.
- 1:01:17Speaker 3: And then my runner up, I think is getting pulled
- 1:01:20Speaker 3: over because that guy. And it's just because that guy
- 1:01:23Speaker 3: completely crushed it.
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: He's so funny.
- 1:01:25Speaker 7: It's all him, the random not connecting things that he's saying.
- 1:01:29Speaker 7: I don't know how you do that. I don't know
- 1:01:30Speaker 7: how you say those things that way, like, yeah, ridiculous.
- 1:01:34Speaker 6: What else has he done?
- 1:01:36Speaker 3: He was actually the lead in a network show for
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: some time, and I think, really, yeah, I think he
- 1:01:43Speaker 3: did that for a while. Remember those Yeah, what do
- 1:01:52Speaker 3: you got?
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: I mean, honestly, you guys have said most of them.
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: I love the the firing, the flaming the air was
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: so funny. The physical comedy in that scene cracks me up.
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: It's perfect. I really like the Suit of Armor scene
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: as well. Uh, just because of the mix of emotions
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: that are going on with also that like love underneath it.
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: I don't know, it's really fun. I like the scene
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: where he gets the necklace. Obviously, that's a beautiful moment. Again,
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: like we're rooting for this dude who's a literal grave robber,
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: but you know, like yeah, at the same time, I
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: get it. Yeah, and he's like, you know, I'll be
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: your sidekick anytime, let me know when you need me
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: kind of deal.
- 1:02:35Speaker 3: I don't like.
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: There's a lot of loyalty there, which I think is
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: kind of beautiful in its own way. And I really
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: liked the you know, despite the waking the child up
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: after the fact, I really liked that scene with the
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: old hippie couple. I thought that was lovely. It's got
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: It's got the line in it that I know from
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: this movie the best that he says afterward, like the
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: infinite abyss, good luck it's boring the an abyss. Sorry
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: if I ruined that for somebody.
- 1:03:02Speaker 4: But.
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: Sorry, that line is like the one I think of
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: from this movie. Yeah Star, And I just think it's great.
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: I liked that scene in general. I thought it was
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: a really nice moment.
- 1:03:15Speaker 5: I was gonna say, I liked how normal that guy was.
- 1:03:17Speaker 5: Like the fans just like this, they had to be
- 1:03:19Speaker 5: like just be regular you're just in this ridiculous scenario.
- 1:03:22Speaker 5: But yeah, he's just like a wise kind of fatherly
- 1:03:25Speaker 5: advice that I don't know, I just thought that was.
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: And they're both just like super nice and right. Yeah
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: some tea you know, Yeah, probably threw that tea at
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: them when they woke the child.
- 1:03:37Speaker 6: I knew want to piggyback and what Rob mentioned too,
- 1:03:39Speaker 6: because that was impressive acting that scene with Jeane Smart
- 1:03:43Speaker 6: and Peter Starr's guard where as she's leaving, she kisses
- 1:03:47Speaker 6: him on the head sayce, I love you, and he
- 1:03:50Speaker 6: just softens and he's like, yeah, I love you too,
- 1:03:52Speaker 6: you know, and you and you believe it. Yeah, it's
- 1:03:56Speaker 6: like nice job you guys.
- 1:03:58Speaker 5: Yeah there good at stuff.
- 1:04:00Speaker 6: Yeahans Smart's killing it, yeah, both of them.
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: Also, the various word choices aside when the dog is
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: humping his leg is pretty great. It's pretty funny, and
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: her laugh is so cute that moment.
- 1:04:15Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:04:15Speaker 6: I find myself, you know, like dissecting scenes like that too,
- 1:04:18Speaker 6: and like wondering how many takes is that and how
- 1:04:21Speaker 6: do you, like, do you train a dog for that
- 1:04:23Speaker 6: or you just find a dog that's throne to that?
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it's both they have to be born
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: with it, and then they have to cultivate the skill.
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: You know. It's like it's got to be inside of you.
- 1:04:32Speaker 6: Well, it's nice when you find that role you were
- 1:04:35Speaker 6: born for.
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: You know that's right?
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: Right?
- 1:04:41Speaker 5: Is that not?
- 1:04:44Speaker 4: So?
- 1:04:44Speaker 3: I felt like I picked more funny scenes. But if
- 1:04:46Speaker 3: I had to pick a dramatic scene, that hamster burial
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: I think was pretty impressive because he kind of gets
- 1:04:53Speaker 3: to deep dive in and be like, oh, yeah, I
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: guess I didn't even talk to you about this, but
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: like my mom just died and then they kind of
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: get into it and acting in that scene is incredible.
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: Yeah, amazing, Yeah, yeah, I love that great test.
- 1:05:10Speaker 3: But I think if we had to pick one, it's
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: three times a lady, I love everybody three times a
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: lady baby tives. I just don't three times. It's so
- 1:05:22Speaker 3: much fun to sing like that.
- 1:05:23Speaker 5: Love it really is.
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: That's perfect.
- 1:05:25Speaker 6: Have I told you all the story? I know I've
- 1:05:27Speaker 6: told you the story, but have I told it on
- 1:05:28Speaker 6: this podcast about when I was doing a educational show
- 1:05:33Speaker 6: in Long Island.
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: You have not said it on the podcast. Do it?
- 1:05:39Speaker 6: You'll appreciate this because you've done stuff with the other
- 1:05:41Speaker 6: Cats and anyway all that educational outreach work. I can't
- 1:05:45Speaker 6: remember if it was a elementary school or a middle school.
- 1:05:48Speaker 6: I want to say it was even elementary school because
- 1:05:50Speaker 6: it makes the story even funnier. And we say, okay,
- 1:05:53Speaker 6: now at this time, we'd like to take some time
- 1:05:56Speaker 6: to answer any questions the old cats might have, and
- 1:06:00Speaker 6: a teacher goes more songs. Story.
- 1:06:11Speaker 5: Oh yeah, I love that.
- 1:06:15Speaker 6: Screw with the education, We're not here to do that.
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: Oh God. I had a kid once asked me in Montana.
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: I think he was like, so, how does it make
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: you feel when people don't laugh at your jokes? And
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: I thought he was just giving me, and then I
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: realized he was serious.
- 1:06:36Speaker 5: I love that love was dying.
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: It was fantastic.
- 1:06:41Speaker 3: That's good.
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: Well, I love It's number one young man. Now when
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: we're two, I don't care. I think I'm funny man,
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: so great.
- 1:06:52Speaker 7: The one gig with the Alley Cats do Christmas one
- 1:06:54Speaker 7: of those, and this little it's like I think, like
- 1:06:57Speaker 7: seven eight year old's kind of that kind of And
- 1:07:00Speaker 7: there's one part of the song where I'm supposed to
- 1:07:03Speaker 7: do this big like come out in a ridiculous run.
- 1:07:05Speaker 7: That's meant to be over the top, and it stops
- 1:07:08Speaker 7: the whole thing. And this little girl who has been
- 1:07:09Speaker 7: singing front row, just singing along. She's obviously a singer herself.
- 1:07:13Speaker 7: I get to the end of the run, it's like,
- 1:07:15Speaker 7: here too much. It stopped the whole show. Nobody could continue,
- 1:07:24Speaker 7: just too much, right in the gap.
- 1:07:29Speaker 5: In the middle of the performance.
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: Perfect timing to.
- 1:07:34Speaker 5: It was so good. Yep, a lot, a lot.
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: I love that quote from her. Oh, speaking of quotes,
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: go to show me the money, show.
- 1:08:07Speaker 6: Him go.
- 1:08:08Speaker 5: That's fine, you know I've got a few. I meant
- 1:08:14Speaker 5: I okay. So the scene I've been talking, I'm trying
- 1:08:18Speaker 5: to look him up broke. I'm holding the whole thing,
- 1:08:23Speaker 5: the whole thing with that Yeah, did you guys watch it?
- 1:08:25Speaker 7: Because I don't the whole thing with the shirt, the
- 1:08:28Speaker 7: Can you try it on now in case you leave
- 1:08:30Speaker 7: again and we don't see you for another nine years.
- 1:08:32Speaker 7: I want to make sure it fits, you know, really
- 1:08:36Speaker 7: solid delivery.
- 1:08:37Speaker 5: Loved it. He's subtle. Indeed, I had right up right
- 1:08:43Speaker 5: off the bat.
- 1:08:44Speaker 7: I had like the when he's in the Vietnamese restaurant
- 1:08:47Speaker 7: and the girls like once bread, She's like, can I
- 1:08:51Speaker 7: have something to chew on bamboo whatever, like just how
- 1:08:54Speaker 7: dumb and just almost like like I know her.
- 1:09:00Speaker 5: Yeah, that frat.
- 1:09:04Speaker 7: I just a couple of like an actual real quote
- 1:09:08Speaker 7: that feels poignant is that if you can't laugh at yourself,
- 1:09:10Speaker 7: life's going to seem a whole lot longer.
- 1:09:12Speaker 5: Than you'd like.
- 1:09:13Speaker 7: I was like, yep, that is good for me, thank you. Uh,
- 1:09:19Speaker 7: I won't take all I'm just gonna do one more
- 1:09:20Speaker 7: and then.
- 1:09:21Speaker 5: Let you guys, good man.
- 1:09:22Speaker 7: There's so many. I'm sure a lot of them are
- 1:09:25Speaker 7: the same. But whenever they're talking about he's protecting he's like, oh,
- 1:09:30Speaker 7: he's protecting me, he's my knight in shining arm. Right, Yeah,
- 1:09:33Speaker 7: I'll talk about knights in front of Mark. It's the
- 1:09:35Speaker 7: sore subject is I'm going to kill that mother intended.
- 1:09:41Speaker 7: It's the last thing you could say right there, and
- 1:09:43Speaker 7: it made me laugh, So I'll stop there.
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: I feel that's good.
- 1:09:49Speaker 6: What do you I can't believe you didn't say mine,
- 1:09:53Speaker 6: I know, trying to get around I have a maybe
- 1:09:57Speaker 6: that's all family really is a group of people that
- 1:09:59Speaker 6: missed the same imaginary place.
- 1:10:01Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, it's really really good.
- 1:10:06Speaker 3: That is good.
- 1:10:07Speaker 5: I didn't care for it.
- 1:10:09Speaker 6: I didn't care for it, but it sounds really the context,
- 1:10:11Speaker 6: but it makes sense in the movie. So if you
- 1:10:13Speaker 6: haven't seen it, go watch Go watch the movie.
- 1:10:16Speaker 5: I love it. That's all.
- 1:10:20Speaker 6: That's all I wrote down. But you know, for for context.
- 1:10:22Speaker 6: If you haven't seen this film and you're listening to
- 1:10:24Speaker 6: this podcast, first of all, shame on you. But secondly,
- 1:10:27Speaker 6: you know, they're just they're just talking about how you
- 1:10:29Speaker 6: find yourself, you know, like nostalgic for a place that
- 1:10:32Speaker 6: doesn't even really exist, you know anymore, for what for
- 1:10:36Speaker 6: whatever reason, you know, people grow up or it's you know,
- 1:10:40Speaker 6: literally like your childhood home is not No one lives
- 1:10:42Speaker 6: in there that you know anymore, whatever it is, but
- 1:10:44Speaker 6: for whatever reason, you know, He's like, maybe that's what
- 1:10:46Speaker 6: family is. Yeah, it all missed the same imaginary place.
- 1:10:49Speaker 6: And I was like, that's well done, Zach. Not too
- 1:10:52Speaker 6: bad for your first script.
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it's beautiful.
- 1:10:56Speaker 7: I will tell you that definitely hit more now because
- 1:10:58Speaker 7: you know, like my mom, you know, moved to Nashville,
- 1:11:01Speaker 7: so that house is actually gone now.
- 1:11:02Speaker 5: So I'm like, huh, that's true. Oh I hate that
- 1:11:06Speaker 5: can never go home again. That's good. Yeah, it's like
- 1:11:10Speaker 5: it is a really really good line. Yeah.
- 1:11:14Speaker 3: Another really good line is by the way it says
- 1:11:17Speaker 3: balls on your Oh my god, up so much.
- 1:11:21Speaker 5: The delivery is the it says balls on your on
- 1:11:26Speaker 5: your face. It really savors the balls.
- 1:11:29Speaker 6: If you haven't seen the movie, there's a guy who
- 1:11:31Speaker 6: has balls written.
- 1:11:32Speaker 5: On his face and it's amazing.
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: Before that, he's like, thank you for the cereal.
- 1:11:39Speaker 5: I had a lovely, idly evening.
- 1:11:41Speaker 3: Yeah, it's so good.
- 1:11:45Speaker 6: And then and then that scene after that where he's
- 1:11:47Speaker 6: like going into the machine, the m R E or whatever.
- 1:11:50Speaker 5: That is fast cut dude, Oh man, god, itoks how
- 1:11:54Speaker 5: much that out?
- 1:11:56Speaker 4: So?
- 1:11:56Speaker 3: Yeah, his whole chest and stomach is just filled with
- 1:12:00Speaker 3: all these like horrible things.
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: I forgot that. I was like, that's really good.
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: That was really good. I love when he's at the
- 1:12:09Speaker 3: party and uh, sars guard is like, you like that
- 1:12:13Speaker 3: press junket that's improv bitch, use it.
- 1:12:19Speaker 5: You could use that.
- 1:12:19Speaker 3: You can use it. We all have dreams.
- 1:12:24Speaker 6: I know I do.
- 1:12:25Speaker 3: I'd like to talk to you about an exciting opportunity
- 1:12:28Speaker 3: that people are talking about.
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: Oh dude, it's so natural.
- 1:12:34Speaker 5: Why does he look up like he looks up in
- 1:12:37Speaker 5: the script?
- 1:12:38Speaker 3: Yes, I know, I do oh, dude, It's just it
- 1:12:43Speaker 3: kills me every time. Hey man, I thought you killed yourself.
- 1:12:48Speaker 3: What I thought you killed yourself? That wasn't you.
- 1:12:53Speaker 6: You. I'm actually for and about that scene like that
- 1:13:02Speaker 6: and the and getting pulled over. I remember him getting
- 1:13:05Speaker 6: pulled over, but I don't remember. I didn't remember how
- 1:13:07Speaker 6: great that the cop was great. That guy was in
- 1:13:10Speaker 6: the hardware store. Yes, I was just like, yeah, it
- 1:13:14Speaker 6: was kind of nice. It was fun to almost experience
- 1:13:16Speaker 6: that for the first time.
- 1:13:17Speaker 3: But yeah, the I looked up some of that guy's
- 1:13:20Speaker 3: credits the cop. His name's Michael Weston, but he was
- 1:13:24Speaker 3: on Scrubs for like four episodes. Oh yeah, he's like
- 1:13:29Speaker 3: private something. Yeah, totally. But he had a line that
- 1:13:36Speaker 3: was perfect. What was his name in this?
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: Was it Mark?
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: No?
- 1:13:41Speaker 3: Oh, I guess I didn't write it down, but it's
- 1:13:42Speaker 3: he's like, I mean they have to. When he's like
- 1:13:46Speaker 3: talking about people like listen to you and stuff and
- 1:13:49Speaker 3: then he points to his gun.
- 1:13:51Speaker 5: I mean they have to really good. Yeah, what do
- 1:13:55Speaker 5: you got bigs?
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: Don't tease me about my hobbies. I don't tease you
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: about being an That's a good one. I like that
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: one a lot. You guys, said a bunch of mine.
- 1:14:11Speaker 6: Next she was Kenny. Michael Weston was Kenny in this
- 1:14:13Speaker 6: for the Kenny.
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: Thank you Kenny. Yes, I liked the I like the
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: did you know most temples are built with moveable walls
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: so that one day a year when everybody comes they
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: can repent. Hey, I'm sorry, So the one day of
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: the year wheneverbody comes to repent, they can actually fit everyone,
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: and they can make the room big enough to hold everyone.
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: And then she's just like, I don't really believe in God.
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: And then he's just like, just tickle, Oh, I believe
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: in Tickle. The way she says that it is really funny.
- 1:14:44Speaker 3: I'm weird, man, I'm weird, really really funny, totally freaked
- 1:14:50Speaker 3: out right now. You can't wait to leave. You're like
- 1:14:51Speaker 3: totally freaked out.
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: Thanks when he goes out, when he goes in their
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: home and the all jump on him and the mom
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: comes in, everybody down, Do you want to eat the cat?
- 1:15:09Speaker 3: Such a good line.
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: I love that. And then uh, the last one I
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: wrote down I think was sidecars are for anyone who
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: rides in the ears automatically or thus I will ride
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: in the back.
- 1:15:23Speaker 3: She's great friend Sam, Yeah, friend, damn Yeah. In My
- 1:15:30Speaker 3: shot Drinking Days, when he takes the X and he says, well,
- 1:15:34Speaker 3: I guess I'll see you guys later.
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: Yeah, that was the thing for sure.
- 1:15:38Speaker 3: Used to say that.
- 1:15:39Speaker 6: That was also a great delivery because he kind of
- 1:15:44Speaker 6: like you can see him like almost rehearsing that line
- 1:15:48Speaker 6: and he kind of like does a half smile before
- 1:15:51Speaker 6: he says it. It was like a really great delivery,
- 1:15:53Speaker 6: you know, because he's out of his he's like already
- 1:15:55Speaker 6: uncomfortable and just awkward, and you just see him go
- 1:15:59Speaker 6: get I'll see you guys later. So believable. Yeah, and
- 1:16:04Speaker 6: you know what that feels like, dude, you know, yeah, yeah,
- 1:16:09Speaker 6: really well done.
- 1:16:11Speaker 7: I remember one thing just because aldics we're talking about
- 1:16:15Speaker 7: the cards, a desert storm whatever. Oh yeah, I wrote
- 1:16:17Speaker 7: it down because he's when he's like, you have a
- 1:16:19Speaker 7: whole set and he's like, no, the corners are bent
- 1:16:22Speaker 7: on my friendly Fire and someone stole my wolf Blitzer.
- 1:16:26Speaker 5: Very matter of fact. It's just the line you'd never
- 1:16:29Speaker 5: ever say, ever, the corners have been on my friendly Fire?
- 1:16:33Speaker 3: Why is it?
- 1:16:34Speaker 6: You know?
- 1:16:35Speaker 5: I don't It's perfect. I loved it a lot.
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: Also, when they're in the hotel after they've just seen
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: the like various luky loos and things. Oh yeah, he's
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: just like, hold up, hold up, Oh everyone raised your
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: hands if you just saw some right, So everyone just
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: calmed the hell down. And apparently he was very like
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: shy about singing front of Natalie Portman. I guess that's
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: so funny.
- 1:17:06Speaker 5: Yeah, it's great.
- 1:17:09Speaker 3: Well, I think that's a great one to end on.
- 1:17:10Speaker 3: Let's move on to Bug's boom moments, knowing that you
- 1:17:17Speaker 3: didn't really like it. I know, I don't know how
- 1:17:21Speaker 3: much you boooed, but I picked four.
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: Okay, and I.
- 1:17:27Speaker 3: Thought the Hamster Funeral, and then you get Colin Hey
- 1:17:32Speaker 3: singing I just don't think I'll get over you, which
- 1:17:34Speaker 3: is one of my favorite songs of all time.
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: And he like says like like he admits the mom
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: dying stuff to her, or like tells her, I guess,
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: not admits, but you know what I mean, like tells her. Yeah, absolutely,
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: that got me for sure.
- 1:17:49Speaker 3: I thought the bathtub scene where he actually has the
- 1:17:53Speaker 3: tear and they save it, but him recounting that story
- 1:17:58Speaker 3: about how his mom just let him like blow his
- 1:18:02Speaker 3: nose into her sleeve. Yeah, wow, that's that's love.
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: That was very beautiful. I liked that a lot.
- 1:18:08Speaker 5: Yeah for sure.
- 1:18:11Speaker 3: Now this didn't get me, but I thought, maybe you
- 1:18:14Speaker 3: did that heart to heart with his dad. I just
- 1:18:16Speaker 3: have such a hard time with his dad in that
- 1:18:19Speaker 3: scene to like really get into it.
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: Yeah it didn't. I felt like it should have, but
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: it didn't, which is weird because I think Ian Holme
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: is really good.
- 1:18:26Speaker 6: But is and puts his hand on his dad's chest,
- 1:18:31Speaker 6: you know, like that didn't get you?
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: No, that didn't. I don't know why.
- 1:18:35Speaker 3: I felt disconnected from that scene as well.
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: Yeah, it was strange, but didn't.
- 1:18:40Speaker 3: Yeah, And then I thought the airport scenes, yeah, at
- 1:18:46Speaker 3: the end, specifically the.
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: One they like look at me and look at me,
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: you changed my lifeline is Yeah, I mean that really
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: should have been the like final line almost you know right,
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: maybe it was. I don't even remember, but I left.
- 1:19:01Speaker 6: It and just really hard to like watch her that
- 1:19:04Speaker 6: character cry like that. Dude. Yeah, you know you just
- 1:19:07Speaker 6: like your heart breaks for exactly.
- 1:19:10Speaker 3: Yeah, that was all I had, so I said, four,
- 1:19:16Speaker 3: but not the hard to heart with his dad. So
- 1:19:19Speaker 3: did you guys have any other ones you thought he
- 1:19:20Speaker 3: could have cried at?
- 1:19:21Speaker 6: Well? I overestimate now because I've been so off in
- 1:19:26Speaker 6: the past. And also again this was I didn't you know,
- 1:19:28Speaker 6: I didn't realize that you didn't like this movie. So
- 1:19:32Speaker 6: that's part of it.
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: I hate that I didn't like it.
- 1:19:35Speaker 6: But I also would like some clarification on Booho moments,
- 1:19:39Speaker 6: because there were some scenes where there was like multiple
- 1:19:44Speaker 6: moments in one scene, like where you could cry and
- 1:19:47Speaker 6: then stop crying, and then it could make you cry again.
- 1:19:49Speaker 6: So does that would that count as two or is
- 1:19:51Speaker 6: that still just one?
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: Usually it's only one. Yeah.
- 1:19:55Speaker 3: It gets real hard though, because he doesn't usually stop.
- 1:19:58Speaker 3: Usually normal people would stop. That's true, it just keeps going.
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: He said it in the most sturtful way. But he's right, just.
- 1:20:07Speaker 6: One, I guess, because it starts with his mom dying,
- 1:20:09Speaker 6: so you're just crying the rest of the movie. I
- 1:20:11Speaker 6: get that's why you don't like this movie.
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: It might be that part did get me the phone call.
- 1:20:17Speaker 3: The phone call last night, Andrew, Yeah, oh wow.
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: I was kind of surprised because like, I'm not invested
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: yet and you know or whatever, But clearly I was
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: invested already. Yeah, we got a thumbs up from.
- 1:20:29Speaker 6: I know, I'm not even doing that, so I'm just
- 1:20:32Speaker 6: it doesn't know what these tiny hands are doing if
- 1:20:34Speaker 6: it sees it, so.
- 1:20:39Speaker 3: So I have ten on here o my goodness.
- 1:20:42Speaker 6: But one of those was all It would have been
- 1:20:43Speaker 6: the dad scene too, so clearly, but I will I'll
- 1:20:48Speaker 6: tell you that.
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: It actually is exactly for no wa boom you said,
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: I'll take it as and movies that don't really hit.
- 1:21:00Speaker 5: Right once you don't like Yeah, because I don't like
- 1:21:06Speaker 5: this movie.
- 1:21:06Speaker 6: I don't know because like you know, if we if
- 1:21:09Speaker 6: we go back and review all of your answers for this,
- 1:21:12Speaker 6: you you were You're just glowing about scenes and quotes
- 1:21:15Speaker 6: and acting performance, trying.
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: To be nice too, I think a little bit. But
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: I that's why I was like, honestly, I don't know why,
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: but it just doesn't hit for me. Like at the end,
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: I was just like, I don't I'll to ever see
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: this again.
- 1:21:28Speaker 6: It didn't like like the first time you saw it,
- 1:21:31Speaker 6: you remember not liking it.
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: I'll say, I'm not one hundred percent sure I've seen
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: it before. Okay, to be honest, I know I've seen
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: at least parts of it before, but it's it's definitely
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: not one i've seen more than twice.
- 1:21:43Speaker 6: For sure.
- 1:21:44Speaker 3: Oh, I watched this one a lot and then I
- 1:21:46Speaker 3: had a big break from it. And then it was
- 1:21:48Speaker 3: either last year or the year before. We were on tour,
- 1:21:50Speaker 3: and I remember it was like a hotel day. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:21:53Speaker 3: and it like popped on and it was like the
- 1:21:56Speaker 3: beginning scene. I was like, oh, I'm here for two hours.
- 1:21:59Speaker 3: I want this whole thing for sure.
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: Yeah, which is beautiful. Yeah, I don't know what.
- 1:22:07Speaker 3: Well, that's all right, let's keep going, man, Let's what's
- 1:22:10Speaker 3: the movie?
- 1:22:11Speaker 5: Trivia?
- 1:22:11Speaker 3: Movie t Ribia.
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: Natalie Portman was the only member of the cast to
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: wear a safety harness when they were on the crane
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: in the quarry, and apparently that was because the crew
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: was a phrase afraid that because of her size, she
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: would slip and fall, so she had so.
- 1:22:29Speaker 3: There was an actual like quarry there. That was like,
- 1:22:33Speaker 3: I was like, I thought that they put all their
- 1:22:36Speaker 3: money into that cgi of them like panning back out
- 1:22:41Speaker 3: and showing.
- 1:22:41Speaker 6: Guys to be believable that we're supposed to think that
- 1:22:46Speaker 6: was an actual pan right, because it it must have.
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: Been if she's wearing a safety harness, right.
- 1:22:53Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm just surprised. I'm really surprised that that was
- 1:22:56Speaker 3: an actual thing.
- 1:22:57Speaker 6: But it gets really fake looking and I don't mind,
- 1:23:00Speaker 6: you know, like whimsical or something interesting. It's so funny
- 1:23:04Speaker 6: and like Chata mentioned like I'm getting old because that scene,
- 1:23:07Speaker 6: I was like, that is dangerous. Yeah, really on there
- 1:23:12Speaker 6: and it's raining.
- 1:23:12Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: My hot take was about they were going to wake
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: the child.
- 1:23:17Speaker 3: So I'm with you.
- 1:23:18Speaker 5: That's hilarious.
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: Stop screaming.
- 1:23:23Speaker 3: That's good.
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: People have to work tomorrow. I'm with you. I was
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: worried about all.
- 1:23:28Speaker 6: I wonder that party and I wondered. I was like,
- 1:23:30Speaker 6: I wonder if they really did this because it looks
- 1:23:32Speaker 6: like they're up there and that looks dangerous. Yeah, I'm
- 1:23:35Speaker 6: glad to know that the precious cargo was strapped in.
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: Yeah, she was fine. There's any dudes. Writer and director
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: Brath chose not to include a full love scene between
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: him and Natalie Portman because he felt it would take
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: the audience out of the movie too much. He wanted
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: it to be implied and sweet rather than visual.
- 1:23:55Speaker 3: I think that was the right move, and it also
- 1:23:58Speaker 3: just makes you look like douchebag. You're writing yourself into
- 1:24:02Speaker 3: a love scene, directing yourself in a love like that's.
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: I forgot to take that one again, and we need
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: the most beautiful person we can find, thank you.
- 1:24:12Speaker 3: Yeah right, yeah, I think does a good call on
- 1:24:14Speaker 3: his part.
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I totally agree. The tombstones in the pet cemetery
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: were made by the cast and crew and feature their
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: own deceased pets names. That was cute. I like that,
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: that's cute. Let's see, Oh, this is fun. The first
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: public screening was at a benefit in Detroit for a
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: charity working with mentally challenged people. Members of the cast,
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: including Nellie Portman and Zach Braff, were very embarrassed about
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: using their word usage being used throughout the movie and
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: that being where it premiered, which, yeah.
- 1:24:51Speaker 5: That's tough.
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: Which yeah, abyss they were scared to say abyss ya.
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: The depict of Andrew Largeman working in a Vietnamese restaurant
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: was from Braff's own experience. Apparently he worked as a
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: waiter in a French Vietnamese restaurant when he auditioned for
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: the leading part in the series Scrubs.
- 1:25:14Speaker 3: That's fun, and in that scene they totally talk about
- 1:25:17Speaker 3: what's his name from Deluth, Minnesota.
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: Yeah, that's right, I forgot about that. That's fun. Apparently
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: Zach Braff's mother is a psychologist, his stepfather also a psychologist,
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: and his stepmother is a therapist. So he drew off
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: all of that knowledge to give the scenes involving mentions
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: of psychiatrics and pharmaceuticals and all that. So he had
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: some authenticity behind that, which is pretty cool. Peter Sarsgaard
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: learned to play the guitar for this movie. For that
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: one that's two second scene.
- 1:25:55Speaker 3: Sure, that's cool cool.
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: I thought this was funny. In one scene, large man
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: exits his car and is surprised to see the broken
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: gas pump handle sticking out of his gas tank.
- 1:26:09Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: But then the director of photography, Lawrence Sure commented on
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: the scene in a twenty nineteen video for Vanity Fair
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: fun fact, when we shot this, I what I said was,
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: has anyone actually ever done this? This is so unrealistic,
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: you know, like, has anyone actually driven away with the
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: host still in the car? And then three weeks later
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: I did.
- 1:26:30Speaker 6: It myself, So I thought that was fun. Have you
- 1:26:35Speaker 6: all done that?
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: There?
- 1:26:36Speaker 6: Never I have started to and then realized.
- 1:26:41Speaker 5: Realized it's really good job.
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: No, I've never done it. I've never seen anyone do
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: it either. I don't think me neither.
- 1:26:48Speaker 5: Yeah, luckily I did it and it fell out instead
- 1:26:51Speaker 5: of being pulled off. Nice. What a dumb person, I
- 1:26:54Speaker 5: am Mezza. Yeah, so that's when I thought maybe I
- 1:26:58Speaker 5: should join MEDSA. Let's see if they'll take me.
- 1:27:00Speaker 3: My sister had a horrible experience where she did the
- 1:27:03Speaker 3: whole you know where you click it up and it
- 1:27:05Speaker 3: just keeps going. It's supposed to then stop. Instead it
- 1:27:09Speaker 3: didn't stop, and she actually I think she had like
- 1:27:14Speaker 3: put it up and then like went inside and then
- 1:27:17Speaker 3: it was just there was gas everywhere and she ended
- 1:27:22Speaker 3: up like slipping in it and then like got into
- 1:27:26Speaker 3: her car. In her car reaked like months months. Horrible story.
- 1:27:36Speaker 3: I don't know. I don't know how that.
- 1:27:38Speaker 6: I always think of that story every time I'm filling
- 1:27:40Speaker 6: in my car, and I'd still do it. I still
- 1:27:43Speaker 6: do the keep it going.
- 1:27:45Speaker 5: Yeah, I go inside time.
- 1:27:50Speaker 6: Every time I think about Genny's story, and I'm like,
- 1:27:52Speaker 6: this is a bad idea, this is you know, high risk,
- 1:27:55Speaker 6: low reward, and I do it anyway.
- 1:27:58Speaker 5: It's horrible, So I do that all the time.
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: I did it.
- 1:28:01Speaker 7: I would just go in and I'd be like I'll
- 1:28:02Speaker 7: be back and whatever. And I was, you know, never
- 1:28:05Speaker 7: had a problem. And then like one time, I just
- 1:28:08Speaker 7: I don't have any explanation. I was just like, I'm
- 1:28:10Speaker 7: just gonna stay here this time. And that's the time
- 1:28:13Speaker 7: it didn't work like it's it just randomly was like
- 1:28:17Speaker 7: I don't know. Something was like, hey, it's gonna.
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: Say mighty senses were going off or something.
- 1:28:21Speaker 5: Yeah, that's what I felt like. I was like, huh, well,
- 1:28:23Speaker 5: good thing I did, you know, everywhere, But it was
- 1:28:26Speaker 5: like the one time it doesn't, I still do it
- 1:28:29Speaker 5: after that, don't.
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: Worry about it.
- 1:28:30Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm not learned.
- 1:28:32Speaker 3: No lessons, no lessons.
- 1:28:34Speaker 5: That's not what life is for.
- 1:28:35Speaker 6: I get mad when that option is not available.
- 1:28:38Speaker 5: Yeah, and you can't click it.
- 1:28:39Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, that's the worst. I've also just like shoved
- 1:28:42Speaker 6: a water bottle in there too.
- 1:28:44Speaker 5: Oh yeah, the gas cap, the actual gas cat put
- 1:28:46Speaker 5: that in there.
- 1:28:47Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm as lazy as can be.
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: I just told it. I don't know. I got nowhere
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: to be nothing that's exhausted.
- 1:28:55Speaker 5: That's so hard to.
- 1:28:59Speaker 6: Drive. After that, the steering wheelly.
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: Fantastic. Let's see. I always love these high tech solutions
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: they come up with in order to get the automatic
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: sinks in the airport bathroom to go off when Zach
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: Braff walks by them. I think it's towards the beginning
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: of the movie. Production had assistance underneath the counter pressing
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: the sensors when he hit the mark. So something just
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: got it by.
- 1:29:27Speaker 6: Being like you thinking out loud music videos.
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: Yes, exactly exactly. I screwed it up so many times.
- 1:29:37Speaker 3: It was only the one time when it really mattered.
- 1:29:39Speaker 6: It wasn't It was mostly not.
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: Your fault, Yes I agree with that, but there the
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: one time was like we were always, yeah, let's not
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: do a single shot video again.
- 1:29:54Speaker 3: Maybe I haven't done it since.
- 1:29:57Speaker 6: No, that was a one shot And the way that
- 1:30:01Speaker 6: works is that everything has to go perfectly right because
- 1:30:06Speaker 6: you know, if not, you have to start over from
- 1:30:08Speaker 6: the beginning again. And uh, and I mean bugs is
- 1:30:12Speaker 6: doing doing us a solid. And his defense, we wanted
- 1:30:15Speaker 6: like all these Christmas lights to come on at a
- 1:30:17Speaker 6: certain point, and we had a remote control and it
- 1:30:19Speaker 6: was malfunctioning. So the first few times it was like,
- 1:30:22Speaker 6: not his fault. So then we eventually had to have
- 1:30:25Speaker 6: him hide out of frame but by an outlet, and
- 1:30:28Speaker 6: he had to plug the lights in at a certain
- 1:30:31Speaker 6: moment and he biffed it, and that one was it's
- 1:30:38Speaker 6: far enough into the shoot, you know, it wasn't early
- 1:30:42Speaker 6: in the song. I'll tell you.
- 1:30:44Speaker 3: I felt so bad.
- 1:30:49Speaker 5: Respect respect all those Okay go videos right, Oh my god.
- 1:30:54Speaker 3: I take months of p I can't even imagine.
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: Oh god, that was so funny. Oh. The last one
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: that I have is during the swimming pool scene, which
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: we didn't mention that scene. That scene's actually pretty cool too,
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: it is, it's a good scene. The fog that was
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: there was not there for effect. That was actually they
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: picked that spot because you could see the Manhattan skyline
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: really clearly and visibly from that pool, But it just
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: happened to be super foggy that night, so they had
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: to just go with it. And I actually think it
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: works way better. I think it's super ethereal and fun
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: to have that fog there. So I thought that was
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: a neat, like, well, we got to do it. We
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: have to shoot this, so yeah, we're going for it.
- 1:31:38Speaker 3: But it seemed like a choice.
- 1:31:41Speaker 5: It was cool.
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: Yeah, Yeah, I really liked it.
- 1:31:43Speaker 3: I had a few things. They weren't able to close
- 1:31:47Speaker 3: down the airport, so those are people actually walking by. Yeah,
- 1:31:51Speaker 3: that's pretty normal. Travelers at terminal for it JFK.
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: Wow.
- 1:31:57Speaker 3: I saw that he wanted to name it Large's Arc. Yeah,
- 1:32:04Speaker 3: and thankfully that got shut down.
- 1:32:07Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:32:07Speaker 3: I wonder why that's not a great such a nice
- 1:32:11Speaker 3: right rolls off the tongue. Zach Braf is in every scene. Wow,
- 1:32:18Speaker 3: He's in every single scene.
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:32:22Speaker 3: And as far as people up for rolls, I didn't
- 1:32:24Speaker 3: see much. But I did see that Natalie Portman was
- 1:32:26Speaker 3: writer and director Zach Braff's first choice, but he never.
- 1:32:30Speaker 5: Thought he would get her and he did.
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: That's what I got.
- 1:32:34Speaker 3: You guys find anything.
- 1:32:37Speaker 6: The only thing, well, I didn't look this up, and
- 1:32:40Speaker 6: I'm curious as anyone know. Is he actually from New Jersey?
- 1:32:43Speaker 3: I think so good question. I think I saw that
- 1:32:47Speaker 3: in the trivia but did not write it down.
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: He was raised in South Orange, New Jersey. Yes, yeah,
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: there you go, you'rever South Orange.
- 1:32:54Speaker 6: I'm so curious too. I've got to go research all
- 1:32:56Speaker 6: these locations and I those are real? Is there about?
- 1:33:00Speaker 6: Is there even ay in Newark? But anyway, apparently, and
- 1:33:06Speaker 6: I never thought about this, but looking back, it kind
- 1:33:08Speaker 6: of makes sense. Like before this movie, people didn't really
- 1:33:13Speaker 6: wear over the ear headphones to just like listen to music,
- 1:33:17Speaker 6: you know, iPods or anything like that, and it kind
- 1:33:20Speaker 6: of like sparked a trend that, you know, and now
- 1:33:22Speaker 6: it's not that out of the ordinary, you know, and
- 1:33:26Speaker 6: now we're back to tiny buds again. But there was
- 1:33:28Speaker 6: like a minute there where people were like wearing this
- 1:33:29Speaker 6: kind of thing, you know. Funny, it was a weird,
- 1:33:35Speaker 6: really weird thing for her to do at the time,
- 1:33:37Speaker 6: you know.
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, huh nice.
- 1:33:44Speaker 3: Well what about Judgment A sequel? Garden States?
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: Garden States like States States better? Damn it.
- 1:33:58Speaker 5: I got the title, that's all.
- 1:33:59Speaker 3: I I don't know large what we're doing there.
- 1:34:02Speaker 5: Large as second act. I think it's gonna be good.
- 1:34:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know. They could they could like.
- 1:34:10Speaker 5: Show what happened, but it's probably a disaster, so it
- 1:34:13Speaker 5: would be fun.
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: It's all about Jim Parsons character winning the joust.
- 1:34:17Speaker 3: Yeah, oh dude, I could watch I could watch a
- 1:34:20Speaker 3: side movie for sure, a spinoffs.
- 1:34:24Speaker 5: A Night's Tale featuring Yeah.
- 1:34:26Speaker 6: I didn't know who he was at the time, by
- 1:34:27Speaker 6: the way, Sah And I don't think even by the
- 1:34:31Speaker 6: time Big Bang Theory came out, I didn't even go, Hey,
- 1:34:34Speaker 6: that's that guy from Garda State, you know, so that
- 1:34:38Speaker 6: was like, that was a wow moment for sure.
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: But yeah, that's pretty cool.
- 1:34:41Speaker 3: But I had said it's as balls on your face
- 1:34:45Speaker 3: so many times. It doesn't even in a place where
- 1:34:49Speaker 3: it didn't make sense at all.
- 1:34:50Speaker 6: But I just love that long he doesn't age.
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: By the way he looks exactly he was.
- 1:34:55Speaker 6: He could have been twenty six in this movie and
- 1:34:57Speaker 6: still could. It's crazy.
- 1:34:59Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, up, yep.
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: Frustrating.
- 1:35:03Speaker 5: Yeah, well yeah, so no sequel.
- 1:35:05Speaker 3: Do you guys want to play a game?
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:35:08Speaker 3: I decided to make a Malkovich Malkovich Malkovich game.
- 1:35:14Speaker 5: Now what that is.
- 1:35:17Speaker 3: That's just called that because they say Malkovich in the
- 1:35:23Speaker 3: movie being John Malkovich, and John Malkovich says it. This
- 1:35:28Speaker 3: game won't have anything to do with John Malkovich. That
- 1:35:32Speaker 3: was very confusing for our game night the other night. Really,
- 1:35:36Speaker 3: I just want to Okay, I didn't want to.
- 1:35:40Speaker 5: You really nailed it here. I get it completely. Yeah.
- 1:35:43Speaker 3: So I'm going to say a quote from a film.
- 1:35:47Speaker 3: If you know the answer, you're going to ring in
- 1:35:48Speaker 3: with your name, and you're gonna tell me the name
- 1:35:51Speaker 3: of the film, the actor who said it, and the
- 1:35:54Speaker 3: character's name, so you can get up to three points
- 1:35:58Speaker 3: for each quote.
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: I'm and is it.
- 1:36:02Speaker 6: Is it at all a hint that John Malcovitch said
- 1:36:05Speaker 6: his own name.
- 1:36:07Speaker 3: No, it's just we're gonna probably we're probably not going
- 1:36:11Speaker 3: to call it Malcovich, Malkovich Malkovich anymore. But so if
- 1:36:16Speaker 3: you ring in and get it wrong, there are no
- 1:36:20Speaker 3: negative points. And if you only get the name of
- 1:36:23Speaker 3: the film or the actor's name, another person can steal
- 1:36:27Speaker 3: for points.
- 1:36:28Speaker 6: Okay, you said no negative points, no.
- 1:36:30Speaker 3: Negative points, You're just done for that round. Okay, all
- 1:36:34Speaker 3: these films, all these films will have something in common.
- 1:36:38Speaker 3: When you know the theme, you can ring in at
- 1:36:40Speaker 3: any time.
- 1:36:41Speaker 6: For a point. Okay, this theme is John Malkovich.
- 1:36:45Speaker 5: Right, yeah, they're They're all from John Malcovich movies.
- 1:36:49Speaker 3: This is now called the quote game.
- 1:36:54Speaker 1: We can call it. You talking to me, and then
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: you would say, there is there is a after reading
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: that's John.
- 1:37:01Speaker 3: Yeah, you guys are good, it's going to go.
- 1:37:04Speaker 5: Well. This made me very happy, Connor.
- 1:37:07Speaker 3: I will say that getting these quotes was one of
- 1:37:12Speaker 3: the most fun times I've had in preparation for I
- 1:37:17Speaker 3: will say that give you that. Okay, Well, you'll find out.
- 1:37:21Speaker 3: You guys ready, Yes, none of these have John Malcovi.
- 1:37:26Speaker 5: Cha Chatham being John Malcovic it's not that.
- 1:37:31Speaker 3: Okay, here we go. I just thought it to be funny.
- 1:37:37Speaker 2: It is.
- 1:37:41Speaker 6: This is the one time he wasn't going to do it.
- 1:37:43Speaker 5: I was thinking. I was like, I'm not going to
- 1:37:45Speaker 5: do it. I won't force it. We got the thanks, buddy.
- 1:37:54Speaker 5: Are we ready?
- 1:37:55Speaker 3: Yes, okay, here we go. Number one, excuse me, your
- 1:38:02Speaker 3: balls are showing?
- 1:38:03Speaker 5: Tim?
- 1:38:05Speaker 6: Well, that would be uh a spur two.
- 1:38:10Speaker 5: There we go. Nicely done.
- 1:38:12Speaker 6: You said it a Sventura and the actor James Carrie.
- 1:38:18Speaker 3: Nicely done. Three points for Tim. I didn't even have
- 1:38:21Speaker 3: to say the bumblebee tune apart because you were.
- 1:38:23Speaker 5: All James Elizabeth Bukes, Yes Bukes quotes.
- 1:38:27Speaker 3: That have balls in them. Well, yeah, I kind of
- 1:38:30Speaker 3: gave it away, didn't I. Yes, every single quote will
- 1:38:33Speaker 3: have balls involved. So you're welcome and point for Bukes.
- 1:38:41Speaker 6: You really know your audience, I really do, ye.
- 1:38:44Speaker 5: Number two Malcovich wasn't in that.
- 1:38:49Speaker 3: Whatever what my number two? The dog's a ball sniffer.
- 1:39:01Speaker 3: The dog's a ball sniffer. Anybody that doesn't rampell at all,
- 1:39:07Speaker 3: talk of course three, ye Bukes.
- 1:39:11Speaker 1: National Lampoon's Christmas vacation.
- 1:39:14Speaker 3: That's not it.
- 1:39:14Speaker 1: No, No, I thought it was you did the finger
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: three it's going to be And then.
- 1:39:22Speaker 3: Of course was from uncle Buck mcaulay culkin when they're
- 1:39:29Speaker 3: asking if he can stay with somebody else in the neighborhood.
- 1:39:34Speaker 6: That just means long since I've seen Uncle Buck.
- 1:39:37Speaker 3: Yeah, which is also having an anniversary, which is very excited, was.
- 1:39:40Speaker 5: Going to be so long, I can't skip my dog
- 1:39:43Speaker 5: skip skip all right.
- 1:39:47Speaker 6: Time out for the for the yeah record bugs. The
- 1:39:51Speaker 6: quote you were thinking of is he does have a
- 1:39:55Speaker 6: little Mississippi leghound in him. This is a word of advice.
- 1:39:59Speaker 6: If he does get lay in India, best just to
- 1:40:01Speaker 6: let him, let him finish.
- 1:40:03Speaker 5: Yes, wowd Joyce with the dog.
- 1:40:09Speaker 3: So not a bad not a bad guess.
- 1:40:11Speaker 5: Pretty name ed wasn't a good one.
- 1:40:13Speaker 3: It wasn't right, but it wasn't a bad guess. Let's
- 1:40:15Speaker 3: go to number three. Now, let's see if you can
- 1:40:20Speaker 3: defend yourself. You sweat him a Baboon's balls, Yes, Tim.
- 1:40:24Speaker 6: That would be dodgeball.
- 1:40:26Speaker 3: That is incorrect.
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: No bukes, bukes, it's uh coming to America. It's coming
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: to America Arsenio Hall it is. I remember his character's name. Yes,
- 1:40:40Speaker 1: it's semi semi.
- 1:40:42Speaker 5: Nice, incredible three points, Eric.
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: L it's when they're fighting with the sticks.
- 1:40:49Speaker 5: Nice. That sold glow.
- 1:40:51Speaker 3: I love it. I love that movie. It's a good one.

- 1:43:30Speaker 5: Wait there isn't there is not Malkovich ones or maybe
- 1:43:34Speaker 5: I was thrown by the beginning of this.
- 1:43:37Speaker 3: I know, I know what happens number six. My plastic

- 1:46:50Speaker 3: Okay, what do you got?
- 1:46:51Speaker 1: Is it that Straythering guy?
- 1:46:53Speaker 6: It is?
- 1:46:53Speaker 5: It's David Strather.
- 1:46:55Speaker 3: I don't know that has Ira Loewenstein. But you did
- 1:47:00Speaker 3: get a league of their own.

- 1:47:05Speaker 6: That's a tough yeah.
- 1:47:07Speaker 3: Number nine. Now he said sicken boy, but what I
- 1:47:12Speaker 3: heard was chopper sick balls.
- 1:47:19Speaker 5: Five four three two?
- 1:47:23Speaker 1: Yes, Bukes, is this from up?
- 1:47:28Speaker 6: It is not.
- 1:47:31Speaker 3: Five four three two one. I did not expect him
- 1:47:35Speaker 3: to get this because he's never seen it. This is
- 1:47:38Speaker 3: from stand by Me. Oh yeah, wow, Okay, so sorry

- 1:48:04Speaker 6: Guess we still allowed to guess who said it?
- 1:48:07Speaker 3: Uh?
- 1:48:08Speaker 1: Sure, what.
- 1:48:11Speaker 6: I mean? Obviously, I don't know any any character names. Okay,
- 1:48:17Speaker 6: but I'm gonna say Corey Feldman, it's.
- 1:48:20Speaker 3: Not a bad guess. He isn't that movie.
- 1:48:21Speaker 5: It is not correct.
- 1:48:23Speaker 1: Chris o'donald.
- 1:48:24Speaker 3: That is also not Jerry Jerry O'Connell.
- 1:48:28Speaker 5: Donald is wrong.
- 1:48:30Speaker 1: Is that even a person?
- 1:48:32Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:48:32Speaker 3: Okay, Robin Robin and Batman.
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: And that's why I was seeing in my head. I
