- 0:04Speaker 1: Great win by Kosey, by Seabass. Good to get a
- 0:08Speaker 1: win in front of our fans for him. I think
- 0:13Speaker 1: Dizzy as well played well for a guy who did
- 0:15Speaker 1: not play since the start of the season, jump in.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Not a lot of practice time. Happy about this performance.
- 0:20Speaker 1: That was good and a hell of a performance from
- 0:23Speaker 1: our forward line, I think. Stanny, Booter and Boehner played
- 0:28Speaker 1: rock solid, physical, simple, effective, really positive. really happy about
- 0:33Speaker 1: their game. How do your team assert themselves net front,
- 0:35Speaker 1: not only in the O zone, but in the D
- 0:37Speaker 1: zone as well, boxing out? The guys are working at it.
- 0:41Speaker 1: We're getting better. We're getting a little bit more organized
- 0:45Speaker 1: in that sense. It's something we had to make some
- 0:49Speaker 1: stride this year, and I think the guys are working
- 0:55Speaker 1: at it. We're much better. We're not exactly where we
- 1:00Speaker 1: want to be defensively, but we're we're much better. Offensively,
- 1:04Speaker 1: I think we're doing a good job. We're going in
- 1:06Speaker 1: the net. We're putting pucks there. Everything's a chain connector.
- 1:11Speaker 1: If the puck gets there, the buddy gets there. If
- 1:13Speaker 1: the buddies get there, the puck gets there. It's just
- 1:16Speaker 1: as simple as that. Pittsburgh had waves of pushes throughout
- 1:19Speaker 1: this game in terms of the response. Response was a
- 1:21Speaker 1: big word in the game tonight. What did you evaluate
- 1:24Speaker 1: out of your team's ability to respond, or what are
- 1:26Speaker 1: the details that you saw, maybe good or bad? I
- 1:29Speaker 1: think they're We saw when we had pace. I think
- 1:34Speaker 1: we played a good game. That team on the other
- 1:37Speaker 1: side created a lot of offense. And how many shots
- 1:40Speaker 1: they had, I don't know. Something like 20 or whatever
- 1:43Speaker 1: the number is. 19, 18. Again, one of the top
- 1:50Speaker 1: offense in the league. So we probably did a few
- 1:53Speaker 1: things right. Well, I'd love to be a little bit
- 1:57Speaker 1: more tuned in on When we had the lead in
- 2:00Speaker 1: the third, protecting the lead, I did not like our
- 2:03Speaker 1: decision with the puck in the neutral zone. I did
- 2:06Speaker 1: like it in our zone. I did like a lot
- 2:08Speaker 1: of stuff we did. I wish we'll have keep putting
- 2:12Speaker 1: pucks behind in the third period and go grind them
- 2:16Speaker 1: deep in their zone. And we try to make more
- 2:18Speaker 1: play with the lead than when we early in the game.
- 2:22Speaker 1: So it's a little bit a part of the game.
- 2:25Speaker 1: We could have done a little bit better, but like
- 2:28Speaker 1: I said, did a lot of good stuff tonight. You
- 2:31Speaker 1: mentioned their shots and revolving shots and on the PK,
- 2:34Speaker 1: every time PK, you know, they've generated quite a bit
- 2:37Speaker 1: of shots. What do you think of your team's PK today?
- 2:39Speaker 1: What do you think you can do better? Well, their
- 2:44Speaker 1: first goal, the flag on our player winning, you know,
- 2:50Speaker 1: stuff happened. I don't know exactly what to think of
- 2:53Speaker 1: that one. I will have to review the entire sequence
- 2:58Speaker 1: to know exactly what could have done better, but the
- 3:01Speaker 1: guys missed the net by about 10 feet and hit
- 3:03Speaker 1: our guys and went in. Tough, tough break. The second one,
- 3:07Speaker 1: we were way too high on our two-on-one, and that's
- 3:10Speaker 1: too bad because that was pre-scaled. That was addressed after
- 3:13Speaker 1: the first period. We knew that was a hole, and
- 3:17Speaker 1: we tried to prevent it and explain how to be
- 3:20Speaker 1: lower and who we're not, and we gave up the
- 3:23Speaker 1: easy walk, and so that's a breakdown that should have
- 3:26Speaker 1: not happened. I've noticed that in both this game and
- 3:29Speaker 1: the one in Edmonton, you've had Daniil Booth on the
- 3:32Speaker 1: ice protecting the lead in the last couple minutes of
- 3:33Speaker 1: the game. Just how much trust do you have in
- 3:36Speaker 1: that guy defensively as a young kid? You know, I
- 3:39Speaker 1: said it many times about Booter. Booter is a win player.
- 3:43Speaker 1: He's not a half player. He's a player who gets it.
- 3:46Speaker 1: And it was the same last year. We told you
- 3:48Speaker 1: many times last year how smart he is, how detailed
- 3:50Speaker 1: he is, how structured he is, how much you understand
- 3:52Speaker 1: the game. You play the game the right way, so
- 3:54Speaker 1: on and so forth. So it's a matter of experience.
- 3:56Speaker 1: It's a matter of having confidence in himself. Example, the
- 4:01Speaker 1: goal they had to score when he was on the
- 4:03Speaker 1: ice in the third period, he was just too nervous.
- 4:06Speaker 1: He backed up for nothing. He just had to hold
- 4:08Speaker 1: his ground, hold his ice. He didn't want to do
- 4:11Speaker 1: too good and he shrank. But, you know, I tried
- 4:14Speaker 1: to go with I think in Edmonton, like you mentioned,
- 4:21Speaker 1: that line was really, really, really good in the third.
- 4:25Speaker 1: So What's the point to be really, really good if
- 4:28Speaker 1: you're not trusted? And tonight's the same. Booter has two
- 4:32Speaker 1: huge block shots tonight who made a difference. We were
- 4:36Speaker 1: a little bit underwater, and he came up big, a
- 4:39Speaker 1: two-big block shot. His line played really good. They scored
- 4:43Speaker 1: two big goals for us. There were no way to,
- 4:46Speaker 1: I will not trust them. And they're committed. For me,
- 4:50Speaker 1: it's important. I think they did not do anything in
- 4:56Speaker 1: that period or in that game for me to not
- 4:58Speaker 1: trust them. Kevin Stanley is one of the most reliable
- 5:02Speaker 1: players defensively. Same for Jack McBain. Now those guys I've experienced,
- 5:07Speaker 1: they're big, they have length, they defend hard, they take pride,
- 5:10Speaker 1: they care a ton. I don't know which box they
- 5:14Speaker 1: don't check. Based on Koza's performance tonight, what do you
- 5:18Speaker 1: want him to have learned from the outcome of this game?
- 5:22Speaker 1: That's a good question, but I will need... review the
- 5:25Speaker 1: game exactly to give you the right answer to that
- 5:29Speaker 1: i think you know like every young player who arrive
- 5:32Speaker 1: in the league it's an expression you hear before is
- 5:35Speaker 1: the game has to slow down for him you know
- 5:37Speaker 1: and right now uh the game is probably fast for
- 5:40Speaker 1: him and get surprised in some situation and stuff like
- 5:43Speaker 1: that and and when we say that that has nothing
- 5:45Speaker 1: to do with your ability to play in that league
- 5:47Speaker 1: it's ability to relax slow down be comfortable you know
- 5:53Speaker 1: It's just that. So I think he wants to do great,
- 5:57Speaker 1: win a big game for us. Happy to get back
- 6:00Speaker 1: on his feet and get his leg under himself. Now
- 6:03Speaker 1: we'll try to get in a better rhythm. Can you
- 6:06Speaker 1: talk a little bit about Yamamoto and is he impressing
- 6:09Speaker 1: you a lot with his game and everything he's been
- 6:13Speaker 1: doing since he got back in the lineup? Yes, he does.
- 6:20Speaker 1: He's a hell of a pro. he's been put in
- 6:23Speaker 1: a really, really tough situation throughout his career, everywhere he's been,
- 6:28Speaker 1: and he prevailed every time. He's a hell of an
- 6:31Speaker 1: example for me as a human being, as a person.
- 6:37Speaker 1: There's nobody who doesn't like Kyler Yamamoto. It's impossible. I
- 6:40Speaker 1: don't believe that. And his work ethic and ability to
- 6:45Speaker 1: stay prepared, you know, the position we put him in
- 6:48Speaker 1: early in the season, not dressing him. A lot of
- 6:52Speaker 1: people will have not recovered from that after the playoff
- 6:55Speaker 1: he had and everything. And that showed his character, and
- 6:57Speaker 1: I'm nothing but impressed. Thanks, Coach. Thank you.
