- 0:40Hi, it's Adam here. And on today's episode of The
- 0:43Hypnotist, I'm joined by a guest hypnotist, so it's not going to
- 0:46be me doing any hypnotherapy today.
- 0:49I'm joined by Rob Degrooof, who is the owner of the European
- 0:53Hypnosis Academy. Rob, welcome to the show.
- 0:56Thank you for having me. Great to have you here.
- 0:58I'm always fascinated as to how people get into the world of
- 1:03hypnosis because sometimes it's like struggling with an issue,
- 1:06finding hypnosis help for them. Sometimes it's being inspired by
- 1:09someone. How was it for you?
- 1:11How did you get into this wonderful world we call
- 1:13hypnosis? It was a bit, it was a bit
- 1:15different part. I see that a lot of the part of
- 1:18I had an issue that I went to a therapist and then I start
- 1:21getting into interested myself that that's a lot of my a lot of
- 1:25my students in Belgium are following that.
- 1:28But for me it was actually totally different.
- 1:32I had no intention to become a hypnotherapist.
- 1:35I was in entertainment for for many, many years and I was not
- 1:41getting tired of being an entertainer, but I was getting
- 1:43tired of performing mainly for children.
- 1:47So 80% of the time my audience were children or a combination
- 1:51of children and adults. And I was because we did.
- 1:56I had my own clown shower, I had a magic shower.
- 1:59I did still walking, fire spitting, all these things I
- 2:02had. I had a quite big company in
- 2:04entertainment, so I had freelance artists working for
- 2:07me. And I wanted to add something to
- 2:10my repertoire more for, for for adults.
- 2:14But I Can't Sing so, so I am a bit limited in the things that I
- 2:19can do or, or, or create a full shot and then you need an extra
- 2:23magician or something. I can play a bit of guitar, but
- 2:26not enough to do a professional show.
- 2:29So I was looking for something, a skill that I could add to my,
- 2:33I was already doing some mentalism, but I want, I want to
- 2:38add something. And I had this little seat that
- 2:42was planted in my brain already from, from a demonstration that
- 2:46I saw when I was like 1516 years old with a girl.
- 2:52It was actually a guy explaining hypnosis and then doing a
- 2:55demonstration with somebody. And that was a bit stuck in my
- 2:58mind. And I was like, maybe I can do
- 3:01something like that. And then I start looking around
- 3:05for training is in Belgium, couldn't find anything that
- 3:07appealed to me. It was all or more therapy
- 3:12based. Of course.
- 3:14Then I started wandering a bit online and things like that and
- 3:18I couldn't find anything at that time.
- 3:20I'm talking about 15 years ago now.
- 3:23And then I, as it was meant to be, I got an e-mail from a magic
- 3:28shop in the Netherlands where I was a client about a lecture on
- 3:33Tuesday evening, midweek thing about hypnosis, about
- 3:38entertainment hypnosis. I said, OK, let's drive there.
- 3:41I took like four or five of my freelance artists with me and we
- 3:46drove to the Netherlands to, to attend that lecture.
- 3:50And at that lecture, it wasn't, it was actually a Mexican guy
- 3:55who lived in in the Netherlands and had done some things on, on
- 4:01the television, on the, on the Dutch television.
- 4:03And so he gave an explanation about hypnosis.
- 4:08And I also met a few other people who were also Belgian
- 4:14guys who were already involved in hypnosis and hypnotherapy in
- 4:18Belgium and the Netherlands. And they explain all we have
- 4:21this meet up. It was before all these online
- 4:23things and chat groups. We have this meet up group and
- 4:27every once in a while, at least once a month, we meet somewhere
- 4:31in the Netherlands or in Belgium to just talk about hypnosis.
- 4:35I will invite you said OK And I start going to those those
- 4:39things as well. And then I was alright.
- 4:42I found some some DVD's and some books.
- 4:46So I start reading and I'm watching some DVD's about
- 4:49entertainment hypnosis. I had a chat with the Mexican
- 4:52guy and he said I can, I can be your mentor and guide you until
- 4:57you have a good hypnosis show. So and then after a few weeks,
- 5:04one of those guys from the meet up group, he called me and he
- 5:08said, hey Rob, I found these DVDs from an American hypnotist
- 5:13called Jeffrey Stevens and that's something for you.
- 5:15I said, is it street or and or or stage hypnosis?
- 5:20He said, no, it's change where it is therapy.
- 5:22I said, Eric, I don't want to do therapy.
- 5:24I'm not a therapist. Because in my mind, therapy was
- 5:27like, people are coming into your office.
- 5:29They tell their entire life story, all the troubles and all
- 5:33the stories that you don't want to hear.
- 5:36And then you will have, you will do a long session with them and
- 5:39they have to come back and again.
- 5:41And so I was like, no, no, that's not for me.
- 5:44I'm an entertainer. Let me entertain people.
- 5:47And he said, yeah, but I really want you to to have a look at it
- 5:51because this is no nonsense. It noses as short as powerful.
- 5:55This is this is made for you. I said, OK, let's have a look.
- 6:00So I started watching the training.
- 6:03And after like one hour, one hour and a half, I was already
- 6:07like, maybe this is something for me.
- 6:10And I went to my my staff, my, my, my admin staff and my
- 6:13technical guy. At that time.
- 6:15I said, hey, guys, I'm just going to keep on watching these
- 6:20DVDs. I'm not free for today.
- 6:23Hold every phone, phone call, write down all the questions.
- 6:26I want to keep watching this, this training.
- 6:29So I watched the entire training and then I actually learned that
- 6:35you can do change work with a very short, powerful session
- 6:39without having all, all the history of the people.
- 6:41Just what do you want and what do you, what do you want
- 6:44instead? And, and do your thing and, and
- 6:48I start thinking maybe I can do like a few clients a week and
- 6:55keep busy with hypnosis because one of the things, and I tell it
- 6:59to my students all the time, sometimes every single day.
- 7:03My especially with the ones who do the seven day training to
- 7:07become a hypnotherapist, I always tell them hypnosis, you
- 7:11can do as many trainings as you want.
- 7:13You can read as many books as you want that listen to
- 7:16podcasters as much as you want, whatever.
- 7:19But if you don't hypnotize people, you will never become a
- 7:22good hypnotist. And, and that's the only way
- 7:24that you can can become a good hypnotist, become a confident
- 7:28hypnotist or hypnotherapist by hypnotizing people.
- 7:32So at that time I was, yeah, I was going out to, to, to pubs.
- 7:37So one of the things that we did, we worked especially in the
- 7:40weekends and like Sunday evening when when we returned from
- 7:43different places where I had my artists located.
- 7:47And a lot of them were from from this area, from the same city
- 7:49here. So in the evening we joined in a
- 7:52bar and then we had a few beers to finish the weekend.
- 7:56And then the trick that we already have was because most of
- 8:00my artists were a lot younger than me and we go to this this
- 8:03bars where you have a lot of young people and then they start
- 8:06walking around this Hey, you know, Rob is here is hypnotistic
- 8:09and hypnotize you. So I was actually exercising
- 8:12every every Saturday or Sunday evening.
- 8:15And then video start going around from from me hypnotizing
- 8:19people. So the moment I enter a bar, I
- 8:22was, I was able to practice hypnosis to to exercise, but I
- 8:28was like, OK, I can't keep doing this all the time.
- 8:31And because after a while in your small city, everybody knows
- 8:35you already and they're like, oh, is there again, again,
- 8:37hypnosis show in the bar, maybe not a good idea.
- 8:40So I was like, if I make a little website, just like
- 8:44hypnotherapy, our scope was it at that time as the name of the
- 8:47city that I did. And maybe I can see two or three
- 8:51clients a week. And then I keep hypnotizing
- 8:55people because in Belgium there are a few things that make it
- 8:59difficult to do entertainment dip noses on a regular basis.
- 9:03So first of all, we have the law.
- 9:05It's actually illegal in Belgium.
- 9:06You can't do state ship noses in Belgium.
- 9:09Nobody acts on the law, but it's still there.
- 9:12So I was, I was hired by city governments to do St. dip noses
- 9:17on their annual fares and things like that.
- 9:21Nobody cared. But it's actually there in the
- 9:23law that we can't do it. But that's not the biggest
- 9:25issue. You know, Belgium, we only have
- 9:2811 million people and we have 3 languages.
- 9:30So we have Dutch, the language that I speak, we have French and
- 9:34we have a little bit of German. But so the three, the companies,
- 9:40most of the companies, they will have French speakers, they will
- 9:43have Dutch speakers that most of them will also have English
- 9:46speakers. So where is the money for, for
- 9:49entertainment? It's in corporate, but corporate
- 9:52in Belgium, the chance that they will hire stateship, not this,
- 9:56this much lower than let's say in the United States.
- 10:00But then if they hire you and they had they, they are more
- 10:04like a national company and not a local 1, but more national
- 10:07company or bigger company. They will tell you, OK, we have
- 10:09French speakers in the room. We have English, English
- 10:12speakers we have. So can you do your chow in three
- 10:15languages? No, I can't.
- 10:18I did it. I did, I did it for children
- 10:20entertainment, but it's, it's for hypnosis.
- 10:23It's impossible. You can't say everything twice
- 10:25because there's no you will lose all rhythm in your show, you
- 10:29will lose the pace. And again, I can speak some
- 10:32French, I can do a conversation in French, but I'm not, I can't
- 10:36entertain in French. I can't hypnotize in French.
- 10:40I can hypnotize in English, but not in French.
- 10:43And I once tried it with walking mentalism and I did this.
- 10:49It was just hopping from table to table.
- 10:52And then they said, OK, we have French speakers.
- 10:54We have even German speakers. We have a mixed said, OK, guys,
- 10:58I can't do it in French. I can have a conversation in
- 11:01French, but I can't entertain in French.
- 11:04And they say, OK, let's find a good way.
- 11:06We will. So you can do it in Dutch one
- 11:10when they're all people sitting at the table or Dutch speakers.
- 11:14You can do it in English one, but it's a mixed table, say, OK,
- 11:17let's do that. So I did a few tables, one in
- 11:21Dutch, one in English and so on. And then I came to another
- 11:24table. I say, OK guys, what do you
- 11:26speak Dutch or, or oh, we are all French speakers, full table
- 11:32of French and our English is not really good doing it in French.
- 11:35I was like, OK, so I start, I start doing something in French,
- 11:39but it's, it's not. So it's yeah, when you don't
- 11:42have the words in your mind and then then it's not so easy.
- 11:45But OK, I managed to do that. But saying that it's, I
- 11:50immediately had the feeling that if I, if I'm going to focus
- 11:53myself only on entertainment diagnosis, I will maybe
- 11:56hypnotize people every three months or something because
- 12:00that's probably the especially in the beginning because and
- 12:04Belgium, like I said, Belgium is not so open to these things.
- 12:08We even even doing table hopping magic is difficult in Belgium.
- 12:14People are like, OK, not interested.
- 12:17So and again, I at that time I already understand that you have
- 12:22to keep busy with Diposis to get good at it.
- 12:26So I created this little website and I start using Google Adwords
- 12:31like I was using for my entertainment business.
- 12:35And most of the time I advertise like OK, it's a one session
- 12:40thing. I have different opinions on
- 12:43that now, but at that time it was just one session for
- 12:48everything. But I didn't know that there was
- 12:52no other hypnotherapist in Belgium using marketing at that
- 12:58time. There was nobody doing a one
- 13:00session approach. Most of even for stop smoking
- 13:03that was like 5 sessions, but most of them were, were yeah,
- 13:08like psychologists doing a bit of hypnotherapy on the site or
- 13:13added to in their toolbox. So after like 3 months I had a
- 13:17full time hypnotherapy business. It was here at my home.
- 13:21It was totally unprofessional people my my artists that were
- 13:24bringing back their material for their shows, juggling clubs, big
- 13:29shoes for the Clown X and people were arriving for stop smoking.
- 13:34So it was because it boomed immediately.
- 13:36So and then I start moving to a bigger, a bigger place where we
- 13:39have an actual therapy room and also a training room because at
- 13:43that time I was, I was already in touch with Jeffrey Stevens
- 13:46and I invited him for the first time in Belgium.
- 13:50And I also met a guy from the Netherlands.
- 13:52Then we start working together. So that's where we changed the
- 13:55name to Hypnosis under Belgium. And then one, one or two years
- 14:01later, Jeffrey came for a second time to Belgium to do his
- 14:04training again and also to do his advanced training.
- 14:08And then he talked with me and route from the Netherlands.
- 14:11He said, yeah, guys, I can't keep coming to Belgium all the
- 14:16time because he at the time he already had issues with his
- 14:20health. And I think it's a better idea
- 14:23that I train you both to become trainer in Belgium and in the
- 14:26Netherlands. I said, OK, why not?
- 14:29I said, yeah, I know you use it on a daily basis.
- 14:32You did my two trip, the trainings already.
- 14:35I did it once online. I did the two lives that the
- 14:38second one I assisted. So he said, yeah, you guys, I
- 14:43can, I will train you to become trainers in this protocol.
- 14:46So that's how I start training people.
- 14:51And then a few months after we were trained as to become
- 14:58trainers for Jeffrey Stevens, he suddenly died.
- 15:02He was diagnosed with liver cancer and two weeks later he
- 15:05was dead. So his son even didn't he
- 15:12already? I know I think he was diagnosed
- 15:14a bit longer, but he only informed us like 2 weeks before
- 15:19he died. So I can still remember.
- 15:23It was I think the 26th of December and I know he was sick
- 15:29and I got a phone call. I was just returning home from
- 15:33from having dinner with my parents and I was sitting
- 15:38downstairs and I got a phone call.
- 15:40And so Jeffrey Stevens and I just picked up.
- 15:42And then I heard Jeremy's voice, his son.
- 15:44And yeah, of course I knew how what was happening.
- 15:48And one of the so he said, Rob, I just want to inform you, my
- 15:51father died like 20 minutes ago. And one thing in that in that
- 15:57first phone call already the family asked me, I said there
- 16:01are only three trainers in the world.
- 16:03It's one guy here in the United States who is not going to
- 16:06travel. There's the one in the
- 16:08Netherlands who is not going to travel.
- 16:10Please keep his work alive. And because Jeremy's son was 24
- 16:16at the time, or 25, but for him it was, he should be able to do
- 16:21that as well. But because he had done that
- 16:23every training, he assisted every training.
- 16:25He is a very good hypnotist as well.
- 16:27But at that time he said this is too emotional for me.
- 16:29I'm not going to do that. It's also not my goal in life.
- 16:32He's in military now. So he asked me, the family asked
- 16:36me to keep his Geoffrey's work alive.
- 16:40So, so I start, I start traveling more.
- 16:45You're going to do conventions like Hypno Thoughts and all
- 16:51around the world. A lot in the US, of course.
- 16:53Now there's also a lot in Europe because they're coming this new.
- 16:57I go to Denmark in a few weeks and then I go back to Dublin
- 17:00again. Then UK noses convention.
- 17:03There's one in Belgium as well. So I'm traveling a lot.
- 17:08I don't see clients on a daily basis anymore.
- 17:11I still see clients because I don't want to be the trainer
- 17:13that doesn't have the client for 10 years anymore because they're
- 17:17all out there. They talk about hypnotherapy,
- 17:21but they don't see clients. So I don't want to see clients
- 17:25on a daily basis anymore that I like, like I used to do.
- 17:28So I run the hypnosis center in Belgium.
- 17:31I have a team of five hypnotherapists in four
- 17:35different cities. We're going to expand to some
- 17:37other cities in a few months. Before COVID, it was 8
- 17:42hypnotherapists. So we had, we had, our schedule
- 17:46was full three weeks upfront. So it was really busy.
- 17:49Nowadays it's totally different. So we have these five
- 17:52hypnotherapists, smaller team and we have less, we have less
- 17:57clients than before. COVID growth changed a bit.
- 18:02Belgium. Belgium is still not really so
- 18:08into online sessions. It's not like the rest of the
- 18:12world when COVID happens after two weeks in the lockdown, there
- 18:19was no headphone to find anymore.
- 18:21No, no webcam to find anymore because people still have to buy
- 18:24it because they, the country is so small.
- 18:27You can, you can drive the entire country.
- 18:29And when I'm here and I'm quite in the middle of Belgium, when
- 18:33I, when I drive one hour in that direction, I will, I will be in
- 18:38Germany after an hour. So it's people are not used to
- 18:42do this. We're not used to do all these
- 18:45online things. So yeah, that's what I'm doing
- 18:49now. So I'm managing the business.
- 18:52I still see clients, but like 3-4 a week, sometimes along a
- 18:57longer period. I don't see any clients because
- 18:59I'm traveling. I do online sessions.
- 19:02But most of the time I'm managing the business.
- 19:04I'm teaching in Belgium and all around the world.
- 19:09And of course creating new things like new projects.
- 19:13That's most of the time. Yeah, it's, it's I, I like
- 19:20running into people that have come from an entertainment
- 19:22background because there's a level of confidence that comes
- 19:25when you you start from the entertainment world.
- 19:28So my belief is that stage hypnotist St. hypnotists often
- 19:34make excellent therapists, but not every therapist could make a
- 19:38great entertainer or street or stage.
- 19:41You know, there is that level of, of confidence.
- 19:43I also, you know, there, there's a belief that I have, which you
- 19:47really echoed there. And that is that, you know, you
- 19:49can't learn to swim by reading a book.
- 19:51You've got to jump in the water and hypnosis is like that, you
- 19:55know, and, and I think when I started 10 years ago, I was an
- 20:00enthusiastic hypnotist. I don't think I was a very good
- 20:02hypnotist, but when you when you see so many clients, you get
- 20:06good because you're learning constantly in, in, in terms of
- 20:10doing things and I think. You know, it's great that even
- 20:13though you're a very high, highly regarded trainer now,
- 20:16you're still keeping in contact with my regular clients.
- 20:20I think that's so important just to kind of calibrate and test
- 20:23out new different approaches. You kind of need to to do that.
- 20:28One of the reasons we've got you on the show today is that we're
- 20:30both speaking at the Irish Hypnotherapy Conference and I
- 20:33think that's just in a few weeks now I've seen you do
- 20:36demonstrations and things. What are you going to be talking
- 20:38about at the Irish Hypnotherapy Conference?
- 20:41What's there? What's the topic there?
- 20:43Something totally off topic for me, it's even even my team
- 20:47members were a bit surprised that I was, was working on a
- 20:50project like this because I'm, I'm quite, I'm quite down to
- 20:54earth and and they saw it like a bit of like a bit of mystical,
- 20:59but it's not, it's certainly not.
- 21:01So I'm I'm talking about hypnotic gong.
- 21:04It's actually, so I don't know if you're familiar with Qigong,
- 21:10it's like Tai Chi, but so you have let me first explain what
- 21:15Qigong is for the listeners, because I'm a bit curious about
- 21:20that. But whenever you start talking
- 21:21about Qigong, most of the people don't know what it is.
- 21:24And then when you mentioned Tai Chi, everybody knows what or
- 21:28have a notion of what Tai Chi is.
- 21:30So but actually Tai Chi is more is a form of Qigong.
- 21:36Qigong is actually more the, the basis of Chinese art of movement
- 21:43and actually the Tai Chi is more like the martial art form of
- 21:48Qigong. So what's the big difference?
- 21:50To explain it quite simple is when you see somebody exercising
- 21:54Tai Chi, they will do a movement and they go immediately to
- 21:57another movement. So it's for most people and a
- 22:01lot of people that I, that I talked with who wants did Tai
- 22:05chi, they stopped with it because it's too, it's too
- 22:08complicated. After like six months in, in, in
- 22:10going to workshops, they still only are doing one particular
- 22:14sequence of movement because it's very hard to, to, to
- 22:18memorize and, and to, to keep that flow going.
- 22:22What's the difference with Qigong?
- 22:23Isn't Qigong you do a movement and you will repeat it for 15 *
- 22:2820 times, then you go to another one.
- 22:31So it's much easier and you you will also when you do a full
- 22:36jigong session, you will train every single aspect in your body
- 22:40and your mind what you want with with Tai chi because you're,
- 22:43you're so you have to invest so much time in learning these
- 22:48forms. You will spend 6 months learning
- 22:51a form that's maybe only working on your shoulders and your arms
- 22:54or so. So, So Qigong is actually the
- 22:58the more easier form from, from Tai Chi if you want to say it
- 23:02like that. I started doing Qigong because
- 23:05I'm, I have back issues. I have a prosthesia in my back
- 23:08and I need to do something and I'm sitting a lot also.
- 23:11And for my neck. And so, and it was actually my
- 23:16mother who introduced me to Qigong.
- 23:18And I start, I start doing it. I did some yoga before, but I
- 23:22couldn't, I couldn't get myself to do it on a daily basis
- 23:26because it's too much on the ground.
- 23:27And when you have back problems and you have to lie on the
- 23:30ground and then it's, it's, it's most of the time it was a
- 23:33struggle to get up. And so I, I didn't like it.
- 23:36So then I started doing this Jigong, which is 90% of the time
- 23:41standing. It's 99% of the time standing.
- 23:45There are some forms that you can do it seated, but I always
- 23:48do it standing and that immediately appealed to me and I
- 23:52started doing it on a regular basis.
- 23:53So I do it sometimes in the morning, in the evening, and
- 23:56sometimes twice a day. I do it before I start playing a
- 23:59round of golf. I do it a lot, even sometimes in
- 24:05between like 2 weeks now. 2 days ago I had I had to do some in
- 24:13person sessions in one of our therapy rooms here.
- 24:15And because my sessions are so short, I have time in between
- 24:21clients. I just start doing some some jig
- 24:23on just because I like to do it and it's good.
- 24:26I feel the difference in my body, I feel the difference in
- 24:28my mind. So, but one of the issues that I
- 24:32have is whenever I'm doing something, that's one of the
- 24:37reasons I started playing golf, because I like to go out for a
- 24:40walk, but when you're walking, you're just walking.
- 24:43You have a lot of time to think and you have a lot of time to
- 24:45get new ideas and then you come home and you start working.
- 24:48And so on my free days, I, I went out for a walk and I came
- 24:52back with 100 ideas and I started working on my laptop.
- 24:55So that was not, so that's why I took up golf because then yeah,
- 24:59you have to walk, but you have to do something.
- 25:01So you can't think about your business all the time and get
- 25:04new ideas. But even when I'm doing Qigong,
- 25:07I and it's like moving meditation.
- 25:10But the moment I was doing it, I was like, but actually what I'm
- 25:15doing here, this is flows, this is this because I use active
- 25:19allergic noses also, especially for my recordings, I was like,
- 25:26this is something I can combine with hypnosis.
- 25:29This is this is great. This is because I experienced
- 25:34for also for myself that when I have to listen to a recording or
- 25:38when I want, because I'm my own therapist, if I want to change
- 25:42something on myself, I don't trust, I don't trust the
- 25:44therapists, crazy, crazy people. So I want to do it myself.
- 25:49So most of the time I just make a recording.
- 25:52But then, then, yeah, because you're working the entire day
- 25:55and then you have to sit down, listen to the recording.
- 25:59And I wasn't OK, no, let's make, let's make a walking recording
- 26:04because I knew that was possible.
- 26:06So I start testing them on myself.
- 26:07And now, now for my also for my audio hypnosis website,
- 26:12everybody will, when they get a recording at my my webshop and
- 26:16the international one or the Belgian one or whatever, they
- 26:19will always get two options there.
- 26:20We get the recording just to listen like the classical one,
- 26:23lie down and listen to the recording like we all know.
- 26:27But they always get the version for walking as well.
- 26:32So they can go out eyes open, of course they can walk.
- 26:35They will get in an active state of an active alert state of
- 26:39hypnosis. And for me it works even better
- 26:42because I can combine it with after work, having a good walk,
- 26:47listening to my hypnosis recording and it works and it's
- 26:51better for me than just laying down again after sitting the
- 26:56entire day. So I was like, OK, but if we can
- 27:01do it with a walk, then let's make it more interesting by
- 27:05doing it with these Geo movements.
- 27:07And so that's what I, when I start playing around with, I
- 27:11did, I did live sessions, I did some group things.
- 27:15And now what I'm what I'm actually it's, it's in a tryout
- 27:20group now people can sign up for it.
- 27:23It's flowing change word.com. When you go there flowing change
- 27:26word.com, you will, you can sign up for the tryout group.
- 27:31You will get 3 sessions with videos and everything.
- 27:35The only thing that I expect is feedback because that's what
- 27:39it's there for. Because I'm figuring out how I
- 27:43can make it like an audio hypnosis recording.
- 27:47But with the movement. You will listen to the recording
- 27:51and do the movement. The way that I set it up now is
- 27:54people will first watch me explaining a Qigong movement.
- 27:59Of course I keep it. The goal is that everybody can
- 28:02use not, not only Qigong experts, of course it's for
- 28:05everybody. So I will I will give them a few
- 28:07movements, very simple movements.
- 28:09Then we start, then they can hit play, listen to the recording
- 28:14and then they know what movements to do.
- 28:16And one of the things that's really important, especially
- 28:19with this, the movement doesn't have to be perfect.
- 28:21It doesn't matter. It just just the flow should be
- 28:24there and the feedback, the feedback is, is great.
- 28:27I, I'm, I'm starting to get feedback forms in and everybody
- 28:30loves it. And I they, they, they, they,
- 28:33they feel that they are going into a trance.
- 28:36They feel that they go somewhere, they, they, they do
- 28:39the movements, but they still listen to a hypnosis recording.
- 28:42The three recordings that that the three sessions that are on
- 28:45on the tryout group now are are just general things like like
- 28:49confidence and self boost that everybody can use.
- 28:53That's what I'm going to talk about in Dublin.
- 28:58And the goal is actually that I'm going to explain how I see
- 29:03the I will demonstrate a bit of Qigong.
- 29:05Of course I will talk about the entire project, but we will end
- 29:11with a group session. I will do a Hypnotegee young
- 29:16session with everybody who's in the room.
- 29:20It's, it's the, I think it's the very first presentation of the
- 29:22convention 9:00 in the morning. So everybody will still have the
- 29:26energy. And so, yeah, so that's, that's,
- 29:30that's the plan actually. And the in the future, I
- 29:34actually what I want to do it, it's great.
- 29:36Like like a membership website where we will all have all these
- 29:43different Qigong, hypno Qigong sessions.
- 29:46The only thing that I and that that's why I need the feedback
- 29:49group. Of course, at the moment it's
- 29:51just audio recording. So the setup is they watch the
- 29:54videos before so they get familiar with the movements and
- 29:58then they listen to the recording.
- 30:00Because in my mind, I think it's best that they close their eyes,
- 30:05but it's no need. You can open your eyes.
- 30:07It's active alertiveness. The eyes can be open, but since
- 30:10since you're you're standing on one position, you can also close
- 30:14your eyes. Some people gave me the feedback
- 30:17that it might be better that they also have the video that
- 30:20they see me do the entire movement.
- 30:22That's something that I'm going to play around with to see what
- 30:26is best for people. Most of the people close their
- 30:29eyes so they don't need the actual video.
- 30:32They only need the preparation for you.
- 30:35And the goal is actually that we will have like these different
- 30:39types of sessions, like beginners, where for people who
- 30:44are not experienced with hypnotic, with Jigong for
- 30:47something totally new for them. So it will be with only like two
- 30:50or three different movements in the entire session.
- 30:53And I will it will lead to the expert level where people who
- 31:00are very good at you, they just can use their own movements.
- 31:04I will only guide them through the flow and do the change work,
- 31:08of course. So and then they can use their
- 31:10own movement. So that's actually what we're
- 31:13working on and actually Dublin is the the very first conference
- 31:19that I'm going to talk about it so.
- 31:21I'm, I'm excited to see that. Yeah, it's, I'll, I'll, I'll,
- 31:25I'll be there, I'll be there doing the, the Qigong moves and
- 31:28the, and, and the hypnosis. And, and I do think what, what I
- 31:32like is that in a lot of areas of, of hypnotherapy, it's, it
- 31:36doesn't seem to innovate like other, other kind of areas of
- 31:39kind of, let's say change or kind of work.
- 31:42And, and whenever I see people in the world of hypnotherapy
- 31:46doing something new, and that might be with sounds, with
- 31:49movements, with, you know, all different things, I think that's
- 31:53great because now we're, we're kind of expanding kind of what
- 31:56it is. And just as you were describing
- 31:58the Qigong and the, and the movements I was getting
- 32:01flashbacks of, I spent a lot of time in my 20s learning a
- 32:06Brazilian martial art called Capoeira.
- 32:08And, and the rhythm of, of that, you know, my eyes were wide
- 32:12open. But it, it felt that Venn
- 32:15diagram of a trance state feels very much like a lot of the
- 32:19hypnosis that I experienced, even though there's a lot of
- 32:22movement and flow and that kind of stuff.
- 32:24So why my my gut tells me it's going to be, you know, an
- 32:26amazing thing. I think I think the the the way
- 32:31that I that I do it with the Qigong.
- 32:33You can do it with with older movements that I like opera
- 32:37because you also get in that in the in those flows and those
- 32:41flows, those flows will will will create a strong state in
- 32:45your mind. And then when you combine it
- 32:47with the right suggestions to get them in a more active
- 32:50alertiveness states that they are open for change.
- 32:56Yeah. And like I said, I want to try
- 33:00these things on because most of the things that I created are,
- 33:05yeah, a lot of the time that I, that I want something else for
- 33:08myself, like my hypno fasting protocol I created because I
- 33:12wanted to lose weight myself. And I, I'm a virtual gastric
- 33:17band trainer. I, we use it a lot in the
- 33:20therapy room. But for me, it didn't sound like
- 33:24the right approach because I don't want to eat less when I
- 33:30when I eat, I want to eat whatever I want to eat.
- 33:34So I was more. And then one of my therapists
- 33:36came with explaining that he was doing intermittent fasting.
- 33:41And I was like, oh, maybe that's something for me.
- 33:43But me not having breakfast, that might be a struggle.
- 33:47Or maybe I can do some hypnosis to overcome that struggle.
- 33:51And that's why I started creating the hypno fasting
- 33:53protocol, combining hypnosis and intermittent fasting.
- 33:58And yeah, I started testing it on myself.
- 34:00It worked. I lost 10 kilograms.
- 34:03I still do intermittent fasting and I'm happy with it.
- 34:07And and that's, yeah, that's how you sometimes get to these new
- 34:11approaches, because you want something else for yourself.
- 34:15You, you, you test it and you see what works.
- 34:17And I think that's, that's what I think appeals to a lot of
- 34:20people about hypnotherapy and the rapid change were like NLP
- 34:24is that you get to, you get to test, you know, the, the kind of
- 34:28the change pretty quickly. It's not like 2 years of
- 34:30counselling where you're kind of hoping that a change will take
- 34:32place. You get to evaluate change, you
- 34:35know, very quickly. And, and when you were saying
- 34:37about the versions with the eyes closed and then mirroring you, I
- 34:40just had a feeling that a lot of, a lot of people when they go
- 34:45to like an aerobics class, they, they, they have that person in
- 34:49front of them and that triggers the mirror neurons and they,
- 34:51they kind of know what to do and they've got that reference
- 34:53point. So it's great that you're
- 34:55testing it. I have a feeling that maybe
- 34:57observing you in real time or a video version may be more
- 35:01effective than the eyes closed. But this is a great thing with
- 35:04hypnosis. You get to test it and, and see
- 35:06what works and, and, and whatever works the best, you
- 35:09know, then double down on that. So for those people interested
- 35:13in, in seeing this cheek on hypnosis, you're going to be at
- 35:16the Irish Hypnotherapy conference that's in early April
- 35:19in Dublin. There are tickets available.
- 35:22So if you go to Irish Hypnotherapy conference, dot, IE
- 35:26you can check out Rob, Rob's going to be there.
- 35:29I'm going to be there. I'm going to be talking about
- 35:31something very different. I'm going to be talking about
- 35:32the fourth dimension. There's going to be loads of
- 35:34other speakers there as well, you know, talking about stuff.
- 35:37So check that out if you're interested.
- 35:39But Rob, if people are curious about, let's say some of the
- 35:41training that you offer or some of the other things that you do,
- 35:44give us a couple of other websites before you, you share a
- 35:47demo with us. Yeah.
- 35:48So when you go to europeanhypnosisacademy.com
- 35:52there, there you can find everything about the trainings
- 35:57and also upcoming events where I will be present.
- 36:03I actually for the ones going to Dublin, I also do a training
- 36:07there on Monday. I do a workshop on instant
- 36:09inductions. So I will teach 22 different
- 36:14very fast inductions. I only use instant inductions.
- 36:18That's was a bit of my my entertainment background.
- 36:22I'm used to hypnotize people very quickly.
- 36:24So I don't see why I would use something longer in a therapy
- 36:28room. So that's what I'm doing in
- 36:32Dublin as well. But there's also, you also have
- 36:35this, just my name, Rob thegrove.com.
- 36:39There you can find also a lot of links to all different
- 36:44interviews and podcasts that I did videos during all these
- 36:49years and some some more information.
- 36:52Also links to all my my different social media channels.
- 36:55So that that's the easiest way to go.
- 36:58Actually, just myname.com, probablygrove.com.
- 37:01Also on that, on that website is also the possibility to book in
- 37:06a video call with me. So if there are people out there
- 37:10or interested in mentoring or having a training with me or
- 37:15invite me for a training in their country, I'm always
- 37:18looking for new countries to visit for new hosts in countries
- 37:24that I am might not have been yet.
- 37:27So so yeah, that's that's the best way to go there.
- 37:32Perfect. And I've, I've seen a couple of
- 37:34your demonstrations. You work fast, you know, and I,
- 37:37I like that. That's what appealed to me about
- 37:39hypnosis and NLP. You know, seeing the early
- 37:41Richard Bandler stuff, it's like changes like very, very quick
- 37:44and that, that really kind of resonates with me.
- 37:47So you've got some hypnosis or a demonstration to share with us?
- 37:51Yeah. So like, like like you already
- 37:55said, my sessions are short. That's something that I'm known
- 37:58for. It's even.
- 38:00So if you see the difference, I use most of 80% of the time I
- 38:05use the Jeffrey Stevens protocol or a combination with the
- 38:09protocol. And most of the time I use the
- 38:13protocol as my blueprint. I might add some extra
- 38:17techniques, but I think it's really important that that as a
- 38:20hypnotherapist or as a hypnotist, whether you do a
- 38:23demonstration or, or entertainment on a stage or, or
- 38:26sitting in a therapy room with a client, you need a blueprint in
- 38:30your mind. And I think that that's really,
- 38:33really important because if you start the sessions with still
- 38:37what I am, what am I going to do or what approach am I going to
- 38:40use or what I'm, what I'm going to do next.
- 38:43You don't have the possibility to, to be focused on your client
- 38:48and watch all these different feedback.
- 38:50And, and so I, I really like to have a blueprint in my mind.
- 38:54And most of the time I use the same blueprint and it's short.
- 38:59It's, it's short. I do it shorter than Jeffrey did
- 39:02it with Jeffrey. It was a session from induction
- 39:05to X reduction was about 15 minutes.
- 39:10Most of the time with me. It's a bit shorter in English.
- 39:13In English it might be around 1012 minutes depending on what
- 39:17the issue is. And when I do it in my own
- 39:19language, in Dutch, it's even, it's even shorter because I put
- 39:24a lot of energy in my sessions And that's I don't, I don't
- 39:27speak with a hypnotic voice or something like that.
- 39:30It's just energy. It's, it's, it's a little
- 39:33entertainment actually. So by putting that energy, I
- 39:37speak rather fast and especially in Dutch language.
- 39:41One of the first questions I always get from my students, but
- 39:44because I demonstrated a lot in my trainings, of course, do we
- 39:48have to speak as fast as US? And no, one of the, one of the
- 39:52key takeaways of this training is don't be a copy of me.
- 39:56Don't be a copy of Jeffrey Stevens.
- 39:58Just learn the blueprint. Make it your own.
- 40:01Do it in your own style. My, my, I had during these
- 40:06years, I had maybe like 10-12 different therapists working for
- 40:10me. They all were using the same
- 40:12approaches. They all are using the same
- 40:14techniques, the same protocols, but in their own manner, in
- 40:18their own style, with their own their own way of hypnotizing.
- 40:23I, one of the things that I show in my, in my, when I, I do
- 40:27virtual gastric band training for she like Ranger in Belgium
- 40:31and the Netherlands. And when I do a virtual gastric
- 40:34band session, I do it in the same way that I do my, my, my
- 40:40direct change work. So also that for the ones who
- 40:43know the virtual gastric band, when you do the first session
- 40:46and the entire walk through to the hospital, I do it with a lot
- 40:50of movement with my arms and a lot of emotion in my, in my
- 40:54voice. And then you have Sheila doing
- 40:58it in her, her style, it's totally different, but I have
- 41:04good results and she has very good results.
- 41:07But because she is doing it in her own way and I'm doing it in
- 41:11her own way. Don't ask me to do it her way
- 41:14because that will not resonate with me and I would not have the
- 41:17results. Don't ask her to do it in my way
- 41:20because that would probably not resonate with her.
- 41:23And that's what I, what I want my students to know, just take
- 41:26away. And that's, that's for every
- 41:28single training out there in the world.
- 41:30Take away what you can use and use it in your own way.
- 41:36Don't try to be a copy of the trainer.
- 41:38One of the things that I, that I experienced a lot in my school
- 41:41in Belgium before COVID, I was inviting like 6 international
- 41:45trainers a year. And then my students came in and
- 41:49then one of the trainers that came a lot to to our school was
- 41:53show Michael Andrews because they used to live in Heidelberg,
- 41:55Germany. It's only three hours and a half
- 41:57drive to my school in Belgium. So he came every year for a four
- 42:00day training. And then of course, Sean
- 42:04approach is totally different than mine.
- 42:07And so my students had me for seven days and a lot of probably
- 42:11a lot of older master classes with me.
- 42:13And then Sean came he with his approach or somebody else came
- 42:17in a sin. Some gain people from all around
- 42:20the world came that were Anthony Jack when Freddie were my place.
- 42:24But then a lot of students they were like, OK, now this trainer
- 42:28says this oh, now we're going to follow his approach.
- 42:32And then two months later another trainer came.
- 42:35Oh, he says we have to do it. No, no, he don't say that.
- 42:39You have to do it this way. You have to get the information
- 42:43and create with everything in your toolbox, your own way and
- 42:46be your own person in the therapy room because that's the
- 42:49only way that you can be confident that you can be
- 42:52congruent. And that's something that I
- 42:55think a lot of people forget for me.
- 42:57So yeah, let's, let's, let's do a demonstration with the I will,
- 43:04I will just do the basic, basic Jeffrey Stevens protocol like I
- 43:08like, I teach it to my, my students when I'm also, when I
- 43:11teach it internationally, I teach the basic Jeffrey Stevens
- 43:15protocol and in my therapy room, I combine it with the swarm.
- 43:19I combine it with other approaches, but let's just
- 43:22demonstrate the basic Jeffrey Stevens protocol.
- 43:26Perfect, let's do that. I'm going to put myself on mute
- 43:27and it's all over to you. OK, but I I need, I need, I need
- 43:32you as a client. So OK, I won't be on mute then.
- 43:38It can, it doesn't need to be going to be anything.
- 43:43So just give me something. It can be just installing
- 43:47something positive. It doesn't matter.
- 43:50So, so the, the, the, the little intake talk that we're going to
- 43:53do now, that's as much as I'm doing with my clients.
- 43:56I don't do pre talks in the therapy room.
- 43:59I sent a video that's something that I present a lot of that
- 44:02conventions. There's I think you can find it
- 44:07on YouTube where I talk about about.
- 44:09It's also in my book where I talk about not doing pretax in
- 44:13the therapy room. So I only ask a few questions
- 44:16and then I start doing my session.
- 44:18So just give me and actually that's how we ask our clients on
- 44:22the intake form. Give me in 2 words what what you
- 44:25want to get rid of. So I, as you know, I went on, so
- 44:33I've recorded a lot of video content for my YouTube channel,
- 44:37but I haven't done the editing and the actual kind of
- 44:39production. So to get rid of it would be the
- 44:42hesitation and to have more of, let's just call it focus
- 44:46concentration, you know, because I've done the fun bit, the
- 44:49recording, now it's the editing bit, which isn't so fun.
- 44:51So I want to feel inspired, excited to actually do that bit
- 44:55so. It's especially the editing that
- 44:59you have. Yeah, just because it's slightly
- 45:02out of my comfort zone and you know, I love doing hypnosis.
- 45:06I don't necessarily enjoy editing hypnosis.
- 45:08So, you know, that's there's less, less kind of passion for
- 45:12that bit. Yeah.
- 45:14So actually the goal is to, to, to, to take the next step and
- 45:21get old with, with all the, the work that that's there or, or
- 45:24just be more enthusing. I have more enthusiasm to to do
- 45:28the next part of the project. Well, I, I, I guess it would be,
- 45:32you know, if I, if I don't do the editing bit, then all this
- 45:35stuff that I've done never, never has the possibility of
- 45:37impacting people. So it's, it's, it's quite a
- 45:40crucial bit, but it's, it's the, the bit that I'm kind of, I
- 45:43don't know if it's procrastination or hesitation,
- 45:45but it's something like that. No, no.
- 45:51No. OK.
- 45:53So the only thing that I need to know is what will be the
- 45:58advantages that you have or your business have when you do the
- 46:04work. When you do that, when you go to
- 46:06the next step and do the other thing from all that material I
- 46:10already wrote down, your work will be able to have an impact.
- 46:14I think it's impact and, and you know, part of why I created the
- 46:19podcast is this idea of if it just changes one person's life,
- 46:22if it helps one person. So the same logic that gets me
- 46:26doing my podcast every day would be the same logic for the
- 46:29YouTube, but it's just a bit more complex when you're dealing
- 46:31with video and audio feeds and, and those bits.
- 46:35So, but that is still the same essence.
- 46:37It's it's helping people. Yeah.
- 46:47OK, great. That's all I need.
- 46:50OK. So yeah, of course we we were
- 46:54online. So we're just going to do a very
- 46:56simple, simple induction now push on my hand.
- 46:59Thanks. I'm really looking for that.
- 47:01There will be there will be a time in the future that we can
- 47:05do this instant inductions online like push on my hand.
- 47:08They will find something for that.
- 47:10I'm quite sure like technology is growing now they will find
- 47:14something. OK, good.
- 47:16OK, so it just take a deep breath and close your eyes while
- 47:26breathing out. OK?
- 47:29So Adam, what I want you to do now is just focus on your
- 47:32eyelids and just concentrate on your eyelids and just imagine
- 47:36that your eyes are blue shut, that you can't open them
- 47:38anymore, that they're so tired, so heavy, so blue shut that you
- 47:44can't open them anymore. And the moment you're 100%
- 47:47convinced that you can't open them anymore, only when you're
- 47:50100% convinced that you used all your imaginations, I want you to
- 47:54give them a good try. That's right.
- 47:57OK, stop trying. Sweep deeper and deeper, all the
- 48:02way down, deep, deep, deeper. That's right.
- 48:07Because the deeper you go, the better you feel.
- 48:09The better you feel, the deeper you go, All the way down, deep,
- 48:16deep, deeper. That's right, from now on, every
- 48:19sound you hear, every voice you hear, inside or outside, makes
- 48:23it easier and easier to focus only on my voice and follow your
- 48:28instructions. My instructions, even better,
- 48:32starting from now. Everything you feel inside or
- 48:36outside makes it easier and easier to focus only on my voice
- 48:41and follow my instructions Even better, nothing I do or say will
- 48:46disturb you in any way whatsoever.
- 48:48If for any reason the connection is lost or you can't hear me,
- 48:51you will open your eyes, you will be back in the room and you
- 48:55will be able to contact me starting from now.
- 49:00Everything I say will become your only and total reality.
- 49:05Everything I say you see, you see.
- 49:07Everything I say you feel you feel.
- 49:09Everything I say you can, you can.
- 49:10Everything I say you hear, you hear.
- 49:14Starting from now, every breath you take will take you 10 times
- 49:18deeper into hypnosis. That's right, all the way down.
- 49:22Deep, deep, deeper. In a moment.
- 49:25Not now, but in a moment, I'm going to count from 1:00 to
- 49:283:00. Three.
- 49:28You will open your eyes. You will feel absolutely
- 49:30wonderful. The moment I say sleep, you
- 49:33close your eyes, you go 10 times deeper.
- 49:35Every time I say sleep, you close your eyes, you go 10 times
- 49:39deeper. OK, 123 here, sleep deeper and
- 49:44deeper. That's right, all the way down.
- 49:48123, look here, sleep deeper and deeper.
- 49:54That's right. OK, While you put your head a
- 49:58bit more straight on your shoulders, you will find your
- 50:01neck relaxing. You will be able to focus even
- 50:04more on my voice. That's right, in a moment, not
- 50:07now, but in a moment, I'm going to count from 5 to 0.
- 50:11I want you to imagine that zero way out in the distance.
- 50:14Just imagine that zero way out in the distance.
- 50:18The moment I start counting from 5 to 0, I want you to imagine
- 50:24walking towards the zero. The closer I get to the 0, the
- 50:27closer you get to the 0. When I reach the zero, you reach
- 50:31the zero and you will just walk through the middle of that zero.
- 50:35And beyond that zero is this deep hypnotic trance waiting for
- 50:39you. That deep hypnotic experience is
- 50:41waiting for you beyond that zero.
- 50:43Everything beyond that zero is beyond expectations.
- 50:47So keep on focusing on that zero way out in the distance. 5
- 50:52Getting closer and closer, closer, closer towards that 04
- 50:56getting closer and closer towards that 0.
- 50:58Anticipation is building. Expectation is building.
- 51:01You really want to go towards that zero.
- 51:04You really want to go there. 3 Getting closer and closer,
- 51:07closer and closer and closer. Two, you're almost there.
- 51:11You're almost there. Anticipation keeps building.
- 51:13Expectation keeps building. You almost can have the sense of
- 51:18a feeling of what is waiting beyond that zero for you one
- 51:21you're almost there. You're almost there.
- 51:22You're right in front of it, you're right in front of it.
- 51:25Zero walk through that zero and that hypnotic experience, that
- 51:28hypnotic trans wash through your mind and your body like a wave
- 51:32of the wave of the wave washing through your mind and your body
- 51:37wave of the wave of the wave. That's right.
- 51:42Just let it wash through your mind and your body and those
- 51:45emotions, those feelings, those whatever is going on beyond that
- 51:480 will start growing up with every wave of the wave getting
- 51:54more intense wave of the wave. That's right.
- 51:58And from now on, you just can keep enjoying whatever is going
- 52:02on beyond that zero. And also your conscious mind can
- 52:05keep enjoying whatever is going on there because from now on,
- 52:11you don't even have to listen to me anymore on a conscious level
- 52:15because from now on, I'm talking directly to your subconscious
- 52:18mind. So subconscious mind, I'm
- 52:20talking directly to you now, Subconscious mind, I'm speaking
- 52:26to you now. So subconscious mind, up until
- 52:29now you created this kind of hesitating with Adam when he
- 52:40needs to start working on the next step with his material that
- 52:48he recorded. So he really enjoys making all
- 52:53these recordings, but there is a kind of hesitation in going to
- 53:00the next step. The other thing the the
- 53:03processing of all that material. So subconscious mind, with the
- 53:10information you had, you had your reasons to do that, but you
- 53:13now know that that is no longer what is best for Adam.
- 53:17You know that is no longer what he wants himself.
- 53:22You now know that what is best for Adam is that he will have
- 53:26the same energy, the same enthusiasm to go to the next
- 53:33step of the project, to start using all that material.
- 53:40I start editing it, start processing it to some good
- 53:45material that he can put out there and that again, can be
- 53:50used to help people. That again, can have an impact
- 53:57on people out there. And that's actually what his
- 54:01goal is, to create that impact even when it only change one
- 54:05person. That's why you need to be able
- 54:10to start doing the next step of the process.
- 54:14So subconscious mind, what I want you to do is make all
- 54:18necessary changes so that it becomes like second nature that
- 54:23Adam starts taking initiative to start editing that material, to
- 54:32start processing that material to an end product that he can
- 54:36put out there. Whether it is a good video that
- 54:41he can post on YouTube or on his socials.
- 54:45Make sure that he has all that initiative to start processing
- 54:51that material, to start editing that material to a very good end
- 54:54product. Because you know that what is
- 54:56best for him. You know that it's what is best
- 54:58for him on a personal level, on a conditional level, on
- 55:02emotional level, on a professional level.
- 55:04You know that it only has advantages for him.
- 55:07You know that he will be able to help more people out there.
- 55:11You will. You know that it will create an
- 55:14impact out there. You know that this is what Adam
- 55:17wants to subconscious mind. What I want you to do is start
- 55:20making these changes and make these changes on a healthy way.
- 55:24Make them as fast as possible but as safe as possible on your
- 55:28own base subconscious mind. Start making these changes now,
- 55:35not your head. If you're accepting, understand
- 55:41that's right and go 10 times deeper, all the way down.
- 55:46And then the man that you see when you watch in the mirror is
- 55:51a man of word. It's man full with confidence,
- 55:57full with joy. And you know that's true because
- 56:03you're the man that you see when you look in the mirror.
- 56:06You're that man full of word, full of confidence, full of joy.
- 56:10So the person you see when you look in the mirror is somebody
- 56:14who's loved and is loving by other people, who's full of
- 56:19energy. It's a great person, a beautiful
- 56:23person on the inside and the outside.
- 56:25And you know that's true because you're that person of word.
- 56:28You're that person that's loved by others and is loving other
- 56:32people. That's beautiful on the inside
- 56:35and the outside. You're the wonderful person,
- 56:37that person of word that you see when you look in the mirror, not
- 56:43your head. If you're accepted, understand
- 56:45that's right and got 10 times deeper all the way down in a
- 56:51moment, not now, but in a moment.
- 56:53I'm going to count from 1:00 to 5:00 and 5:00.
- 56:55I want you to open your eyes. You will be back in the room
- 56:58fully re energized, feeling absolutely wonderful knowing
- 57:03that your subconscious mind is on the job, knowing that your
- 57:06subconscious mind will start making all necessary changes to
- 57:10reach your goals. One all relaxation is leaving
- 57:15your body to energy is floating inside your body from all
- 57:18different directions, filling your entire body with this
- 57:21amazing energy treat. Take a deep, deep breath for
- 57:24your lungs are clear, your throat is clear, sciences are
- 57:27clear, your heart is clear, your mind is clear.
- 57:29Sharp five open your eyes. Back in the room feeling
- 57:32absolutely wonderful. Feeling great.
- 57:34Feeling re energized. Back in the room feeling good.
- 57:39Feeling good that was that was a nice experience.
- 57:43Great. Thank you.
- 57:45So yeah. So this was was short version of
- 57:51the Jeffrey Stevens protocol where I have all these different
- 57:55steps that I go through and the change work is yeah, like, like
- 58:00I, I don't you, I don't. We don't use any history.
- 58:04We're not going to do. We just give the subconscious
- 58:08mind the the responsibility to make the changes.
- 58:13And of course there's a lot of there's a lot going on in.
- 58:19And that's what I what I also explained in my training.
- 58:23And for me, it's really important that a hypnotherapist
- 58:26is able to to start the session with whatever information he
- 58:32gets and even if he doesn't know anything about the issue,
- 58:35because every single day I see people posting in all these
- 58:40different hypnosis groups on Facebook.
- 58:43Does anyone has a good script or does anyone has a good session
- 58:47for this issue? I'm like, OK, there is no, there
- 58:52is no good script or there's no good session or something.
- 58:54No, there's a, there's an approach, but just use the
- 58:57client's information and start working.
- 58:59And, and that's, that's, that's what I what I want to give my
- 59:03student. That's one of the reasons that I
- 59:05teach all my, my, my new students, the ones who who start
- 59:09becoming a hypnotherapist, I teach them this protocol because
- 59:12now the moment they know this, they are ready to go.
- 59:15They are they, they can do, of course they can.
- 59:17They can learn other techniques and fill their toolbox and start
- 59:20using them together. But they always have this basic
- 59:24thing that they can go through for every single issue that they
- 59:28have. And then so yeah, that's.
- 59:32And I think the nature of hypnotherapy sometimes is that
- 59:34they're trying to learn so many different approaches and
- 59:37protocols and different techniques.
- 59:39And I think there's a Bruce Lee quote that says something like,
- 59:41you know, I don't fear the man that's learned 10,000 kicks.
- 59:44I fear the man that's learned one kick and practice 10,000
- 59:46times. And I think there's a lot of
- 59:48power in being very, very good at an approach.
- 59:51And I, and I think sometimes people have this, again, a
- 59:54fallacy that if it's, if it's too simple, therefore it's not
- 59:57effective. But actually most simple things
- 59:59are more effective. Because it it cuts right to the
- 1:00:03the core and, and at its core, hypnosis is a catalyst for
- 1:00:06change. And most people know what they
- 1:00:08don't want and they know what they do want.
- 1:00:10So if you can be that catalyst, you help them get there quicker.
- 1:00:13Yeah, yeah. That's one one of the things
- 1:00:16that I experienced when when I'm when I have like a 2 month break
- 1:00:21that I don't have seen a lot of clients.
- 1:00:24I have most of them. I had a few online clients yeah,
- 1:00:28but when I'm traveling a lot, I'm not scheduling sessions when
- 1:00:32I'm traveling. I don't like to work in hotel
- 1:00:34rooms online because there's always something going on with
- 1:00:37the Internet and things when I when I when I schedule when I'm
- 1:00:39traveling, I bought my session, I might do a session there
- 1:00:44somewhere in person, but I'm not doing online stuff.
- 1:00:47So there sometimes I have this breaks that I don't see an
- 1:00:51actual client for a month or sometimes a bit longer.
- 1:00:55But I find is whenever I start again now with seeing clients, a
- 1:01:01lot of the times I just go back to the basics.
- 1:01:04I just I just do the Jeffrey Stevens protocol like I like.
- 1:01:07I teach it in the training as well.
- 1:01:10And then after a while then I start when it's needed, I start
- 1:01:15getting other things involved. But like last Sunday there was
- 1:01:20this guy and he contacted me through WhatsApp and he says
- 1:01:23yeah, I'm very busy in construction and I really want
- 1:01:26to stop smoking session with you because my colleague he came to
- 1:01:30you 5-6 years ago and I still remember him going starting on
- 1:01:35the 1st work day after he become a non-smoker.
- 1:01:39He had no issues, he no cravings.
- 1:01:42I was still smoking he says and he didn't bother him at all.
- 1:01:47So I want a session with you, but I the only day that I'm it's
- 1:01:52possible for me it's in a weekend days.
- 1:01:54OK, let's do it on Sunday. I don't mind.
- 1:01:57I work most of the Sundays. So I did a session with him and
- 1:02:02just very very short. Just stop smoking like the way
- 1:02:05that I did with you. Now just inform the subconscious
- 1:02:08mind he's a non-smoker now, so stop all that nonsense.
- 1:02:12So and then a few days later, he sent me a message that's
- 1:02:18something like when you translate it, it's like you're a
- 1:02:21rock star. Just that was a message.
- 1:02:24And then he replied to me and said, yeah, no issues, no
- 1:02:27cravings, nothing. All good.
- 1:02:29And yeah, sometimes you just don't need much.
- 1:02:34It's, it's when the client is ready for the change and, and
- 1:02:38knows what he wants. And then, then, yeah, that's the
- 1:02:43reason that, that my, my, my training and also the subtitle
- 1:02:48of my book. It's called the art of simple
- 1:02:50Hypnosis. And it's actually, I got it
- 1:02:52from, from a golf trainer from the UK and he has the art of
- 1:02:56simple golf. And that's a bit the same in
- 1:02:59golf. You can watch YouTube and you
- 1:03:02can find 100,000 different approach of hitting a golf ball
- 1:03:06and people start watching this and then trainer A says this
- 1:03:10trainer B says something else and there's there's another guy
- 1:03:13said, no, this is the best way. And they come on the on the golf
- 1:03:17course and they can't they can't play golf anymore because they
- 1:03:20have all these different things in their mind.
- 1:03:22And what what I found, what I experienced, I did it myself as
- 1:03:25well. What I experienced is you listen
- 1:03:28to a YouTube video and the guy says you have to hit, you have
- 1:03:30to place the ball here and here and then you have to do this.
- 1:03:33You do it and the first time it worked great one time, but the
- 1:03:38moment you want to repeat it, and especially when you want you
- 1:03:41want to repeat it on a golf course doesn't work anymore
- 1:03:44because you just make your other complicated.
- 1:03:48And that guy is his thing is can make it as simple as possible.
- 1:03:54And that's why I got this idea. I said, OK, but that's actually
- 1:03:57how I see hypnosis and how I try to teach hypnosis to my students
- 1:04:02and how I speak at conventions. It's most of the time about
- 1:04:06keeping it as simple as possible and don't overcomplicate things.
- 1:04:10And I wanted both in a therapy room, but I also wanted for the
- 1:04:14user experience, the client experience.
- 1:04:15That's why I have that pre talk video and all these things that,
- 1:04:19that, that to make it the client as easiest as easiest or as
- 1:04:23simple as possible, but also for for the therapist.
- 1:04:26So, so yeah, that's a bit a bit my goal at the moment to, to
- 1:04:32because I did trainings like in the UK where where when I was
- 1:04:38teaching the Jeffrey Stevens Protocol about 5-5 years ago or
- 1:04:41something. And I was in the business for 10
- 1:04:44years. And most of my students in the
- 1:04:47room at that time were lower in the business than I was in the
- 1:04:50business at the time. And a lot of them, they came to
- 1:04:53me after I did a 2 day Jeffrey Stevens Protocol training.
- 1:04:57They said, where were you 15 years ago?
- 1:04:59I'm doing this very long sessions with, yeah, with a lot
- 1:05:04of information, listening to the clients a lot with long
- 1:05:07inductions. And this, this, this is going to
- 1:05:09make my life so much simpler. And that's actually what I want
- 1:05:13to give people also when I when I teach them the instant
- 1:05:17inductions and when I teach them the other techniques.
- 1:05:21Keep it as simple as possible because one one of the the
- 1:05:26videos or no I wrote it in my newsletter about doesn't doesn't
- 1:05:31have a session to be one hour because a lot of clients.
- 1:05:34It doesn't, yeah. Or therapist thinks that it
- 1:05:37needs to be an hour, but there's no need.
- 1:05:39People are not paying me for my time, they're paying me for a
- 1:05:42result. For the result and the change,
- 1:05:45yeah. I, I, I, I explained to my
- 1:05:47students the moment we will find that a, a way of change work or
- 1:05:51or therapy that that I put somebody on a chair and I walked
- 1:05:56three times around the chair and his problem is solved.
- 1:05:59I don't care if it's only three minutes or one minute or there's
- 1:06:06no scientific research for this. As long as my clients issue is
- 1:06:10gone or his goal is reached, that's what he's paying me for.
- 1:06:14Not for the time, not for the research, not for whatever.
- 1:06:19He wants a result. And if I can, if I can get to
- 1:06:24that result by doing something crazy and just walk around the
- 1:06:27chair, not going to happen, probably then it's OK for me.
- 1:06:30Then he has a result and that's what I want.
- 1:06:33I want them to give the result and.
- 1:06:36I think it's, it's important to focus on the on on the outcome
- 1:06:39and, and whatever the process is that gets you there is the right
- 1:06:41one. And, and as you were saying that
- 1:06:43it kind of reminded me like when I started my, my sessions were
- 1:06:464550 minutes long of, of hypnosis.
- 1:06:49And these days they're, you know, a long session will be
- 1:06:52like 25 minutes and most of them are between 15 and 20 minutes.
- 1:06:55And, and it's kind of like, you know, in theory, like because
- 1:06:58you know more, they should be longer.
- 1:06:59But actually they just get more efficient, you know, the more
- 1:07:02you know and, and, and you know it, there is like, again, a
- 1:07:05fallacy that longer is better. And it's like, I don't think it
- 1:07:09is. And, and you don't need long
- 1:07:11progressive relaxation inductions and those kind of
- 1:07:14things. So, Rob, thanks so much for
- 1:07:16joining me on the show today. Just give us your website
- 1:07:19addresses again, just in case people want to learn more about
- 1:07:23you or perhaps do your training. Yeah, so we have the European
- 1:07:29hypnosisacademy.com. There's also on that website.
- 1:07:33You can also sign up for a newsletter.
- 1:07:36I'm starting a new because I'm was was not, I was not really
- 1:07:41consistent in my newsletters for the for because that's one of
- 1:07:45the issues that I have in my business.
- 1:07:47I have to work. I have to do everything in in in
- 1:07:49in 2 languages. So every single content I, so I,
- 1:07:52I know your struggle because for me it's like, OK, and I have to
- 1:07:57do it in English. I have to do it in Dutch because
- 1:07:59I have students all, a lot of in Belgium, of course, but you
- 1:08:02can't do everything in English for those students because
- 1:08:05that's not the right way to approach them.
- 1:08:07So yeah, that's. So I'm starting a brand new
- 1:08:11newsletter for the European Hypnosis Academy.
- 1:08:13It's actually called the Art of Simple Hypnosis newsletter in
- 1:08:16which every month I will give them advice on how to keep it
- 1:08:19simple. There's there's a question
- 1:08:21answer, there's a tip or a technique that I share in that
- 1:08:24newsletter. So they can sign up for that one
- 1:08:27on europeanhypnosisacademy.com. Also there they will find the
- 1:08:31trainings, also online stuff and things like that.
- 1:08:34And then my, just my name, Rob thegrove.com.
- 1:08:39There they can find all my links to my socials.
- 1:08:42They want to follow me on my socials and also there there is
- 1:08:48information about where I am in the world to do trainings or
- 1:08:51presentations or things like that.
- 1:08:53And for the ones who want to try out the hypnotic gong, because
- 1:08:56I'm quite sure in your listeners there will be a lot of people
- 1:09:00interested in trying this new approach.
- 1:09:03And you don't have to have any experience with diagnosis with
- 1:09:07Qigong. It doesn't matter.
- 1:09:08It's for everybody. So just go to
- 1:09:11flowingchangeword.com and there you can sign up for the tryout
- 1:09:16group. The tryout group will be online
- 1:09:18for the next couple of weeks. Because I want, I want actually
- 1:09:23as many because of course a lot of my followers are
- 1:09:26hypnotherapist. So I want not only
- 1:09:29hypnotherapist trying it out, I want general public trying it
- 1:09:33out, people with Qingon experience, but people with no
- 1:09:37Qigong, experienced people with it not or we used to go to a
- 1:09:41hypnotherapist or people that it's brand new for.
- 1:09:44So I want this different feedback coming in so.
- 1:09:47Amazing. Well, it sounds very exciting.
- 1:09:49I'm looking forward to seeing seeing it in in Dublin very
- 1:09:52soon. Rob, it's great to have you on
- 1:09:53the show today. It was a pleasure.
