Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: All right, welcome back to another episode of by Order
- 0:04Speaker 1: of the Faithfuls Dancing with the Stars' edition. Wells Adams
- 0:09Speaker 1: here alongside a new guest host because Dolores is doing
- 0:12Speaker 1: housewive things.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Sutter, how are you?
- 0:17Speaker 3: I'm great? How are you? It's good to see you.
- 0:19Speaker 2: You as well? I mean last time I saw you,
- 0:21Speaker 2: I think it was at Chris Harrison's wedding.
- 0:23Speaker 3: Was that right, I think so? Yeah, except of course
- 0:26Speaker 3: on Instagram?
- 0:28Speaker 2: Well, yes, we live well on president there.
- 0:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 0:31Speaker 1: I've been a part of Bachelor Nation for the better
- 0:34Speaker 1: part of a decade and you probably have me doubled
- 0:37Speaker 1: on that. You're you're a lady of first right were
- 0:41Speaker 1: you on the first ever season of the Bachelor? And
- 0:44Speaker 1: then were you the first ever bachelorette? And then were
- 0:46Speaker 1: you also on the first ever season of Dancing with
- 0:48Speaker 1: the Stars.
- 0:49Speaker 3: Yep, that's a lot of fun, that's a lot of
- 0:53Speaker 3: first and I was the first ever kicked off Dancing
- 0:56Speaker 3: with the Stars.
- 0:57Speaker 2: I want to talk to you about that.
- 0:59Speaker 1: I mean, like, basically the show is this is similar
- 1:03Speaker 1: to what it was back then, but it's also much different,
- 1:06Speaker 1: maybe much more popular than it was back then.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Was it heartbreaking?
- 1:11Speaker 1: To be the first one off or were you like,
- 1:13Speaker 1: it doesn't matter, I've done enough TV over the last year.
- 1:16Speaker 3: Yeah, right, Well, actually the TV came later. Well, Dancing
- 1:19Speaker 3: with the Stars TV came later. We had been married
- 1:22Speaker 3: for at least I think two years, so it was
- 1:27Speaker 3: there was a couple of year break in there. But yes,
- 1:30Speaker 3: I was heartbroken. I was a dancer. I danced for
- 1:34Speaker 3: the Miami Heat and some professional stuff and I was
- 1:40Speaker 3: I was so heartbroken. I wanted to be there. It's
- 1:43Speaker 3: I was, let's say, what the what's the right word?
- 1:50Speaker 3: I was. I received a phone call from Andrea Wong,
- 1:53Speaker 3: who was at the time the head of unscripted at ABC,
- 1:59Speaker 3: and if if you got a phone call from her,
- 2:01Speaker 3: then you paid attention, right. So we have a phone
- 2:05Speaker 3: call and she said, You're going to do this show
- 2:07Speaker 3: and I was like, wait what I am? What's this show?
- 2:12Speaker 3: At the time, it was Strictly Come Dancing in on
- 2:18Speaker 3: the BBC and super super popular overseas, and they wanted
- 2:23Speaker 3: to bring it to the United States. And even though
- 2:27Speaker 3: I was a dancer and I had lived in Miami
- 2:29Speaker 3: for seven years, I mean I knew what the chow
- 2:31Speaker 3: chaw was and like you know some of the dances,
- 2:33Speaker 3: but I really didn't know anything about ballroom, and I
- 2:38Speaker 3: just thought, this is either gonna soar or it's gonna
- 2:42Speaker 3: fall flat on its face. So we'll wait and see.
- 2:45Speaker 3: And obviously it is soaring. I think a huge part
- 2:49Speaker 3: of that is the pros. I know a huge part
- 2:52Speaker 3: of that is the pros. We all get connected to
- 2:54Speaker 3: them and they're just so talented. But yeah, to be
- 2:59Speaker 3: to be part of the first show was amazing, even
- 3:03Speaker 3: though I was heartbroken.
- 3:05Speaker 1: What was it that you think got you eliminated first?
- 3:11Speaker 1: You know, I had of you being so good because
- 3:13Speaker 1: you had a dance background.
- 3:15Speaker 3: You know, I wasn't that good. I don't think I
- 3:18Speaker 3: was that good at ballroom. Like I said, I had
- 3:21Speaker 3: no knowledge of ballroom, and even though I was a
- 3:25Speaker 3: professional dancer, I did not have the technique. Like my
- 3:29Speaker 3: daughter's a competitive dancer, and the technique that they have
- 3:32Speaker 3: to have these days to compete in dance is insane.
- 3:36Speaker 3: I mean, at that point, I don't even know that
- 3:40Speaker 3: I knew how to spot when I turned, which is
- 3:43Speaker 3: like pretty much necessary when you're a dancer. So I
- 3:49Speaker 3: wasn't I wasn't technically trained. I loved dancing, so I
- 3:54Speaker 3: brought the passion for it and the desire to actually
- 3:59Speaker 3: learn and be there because I wanted to learn something
- 4:02Speaker 3: new about something that I loved. I think a big
- 4:07Speaker 3: part of it is I had a really hard time
- 4:11Speaker 3: with dancing with a man who I wasn't married to,
- 4:16Speaker 3: because it made my husband feel really uncomfortable, and I
- 4:19Speaker 3: voiced that, and I feel like Louis and I like,
- 4:22Speaker 3: I feel like you want to you root for the
- 4:25Speaker 3: people who have great chemistry with their partners, at least
- 4:28Speaker 3: I do. I feel like the people who go all
- 4:30Speaker 3: the way. Maybe they have some speed bumps, but they
- 4:36Speaker 3: have great chemistry. And I think Louie and I just
- 4:39Speaker 3: butted heads a lot because I was really uncomfortable. The
- 4:46Speaker 3: second dance I did was the rumba, and the rumba
- 4:50Speaker 3: if you know anything about the rumba, it's like the
- 4:53Speaker 3: most intimate, I believe, of all of the dances, like
- 4:56Speaker 3: you really need. And I also have no acting ability whatsoever,
- 5:03Speaker 3: And I feel like a huge part of this show
- 5:05Speaker 3: also is the ability to tell a story while you're
- 5:08Speaker 3: dancing and to be able to act like a certain
- 5:12Speaker 3: part in your in your particular dance and for the rumba.
- 5:17Speaker 3: I needed to act like I was Louise's lover or
- 5:21Speaker 3: love interest, and I just was so uncomfortable with that.
- 5:23Speaker 3: So I feel like people probably saw that and were like, yeah,
- 5:29Speaker 3: she can go.
- 5:31Speaker 1: It's interesting that you talk about that, because so often
- 5:34Speaker 1: on the show, like every show, there's usually like a
- 5:37Speaker 1: showmance that happens between celebrity and dancer, like it's it's
- 5:41Speaker 1: or like there's rumblings of it, And so I can understand.
- 5:44Speaker 1: I can understand the concern for you, and then I
- 5:47Speaker 1: can also understand the empathy that you would have for
- 5:51Speaker 1: for your husband having to experience it. I have to
- 5:54Speaker 1: experience it all the time with my wife, who like
- 5:57Speaker 1: makes out and like has sex scenes.
- 5:59Speaker 2: On with, you know, like other people on film.
- 6:04Speaker 1: But I've been blessed recently that the leading men that
- 6:07Speaker 1: she's had to be romantic with I don't think are
- 6:11Speaker 1: interested in in her.
- 6:14Speaker 3: Yeah, So that was also something that I kept telling Ryan.
- 6:19Speaker 3: Louis wasn't out at the time, like he hadn't officially
- 6:22Speaker 3: come out, but I knew that he was gay. So
- 6:25Speaker 3: I was telling Ryan like, hey, listen, even if you're
- 6:29Speaker 3: worried about this, please don't be because there's no reason
- 6:32Speaker 3: to be.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Yeah, it's funny.
- 6:34Speaker 3: You know.
- 6:35Speaker 1: The last show Sarah did, she did with Jonathan Groff,
- 6:38Speaker 1: who is an absolutely phenomenal actor and it's been in everything.
- 6:41Speaker 1: And I told him, you know, I went to the
- 6:44Speaker 1: opening night and I was like, I'm really happy. I'm
- 6:47Speaker 1: really happy that you're the person she has to kiss
- 6:50Speaker 1: for the next five months on Broadway. And Sarah said, yeah,
- 6:54Speaker 1: he's probably more attracted to you than me.
- 7:01Speaker 3: He's like, yeah, can I try? Can I see you? Yeah?
- 7:05Speaker 2: Well, do you play Connie Francis today?
- 7:08Speaker 3: Yes?
- 7:10Speaker 2: So what would you.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Go back on the show if you were invited or
- 7:14Speaker 1: is that time coming?
- 7:15Speaker 2: Gone?
- 7:17Speaker 3: Gosh, I would love to be on the show, just
- 7:20Speaker 3: to be surrounded by so much talent and to be
- 7:24Speaker 3: in that stage, like it's just so exciting. I know
- 7:30Speaker 3: you've seen the shows live, you know, it is so
- 7:33Speaker 3: exciting to be there. It is extremely stressful, and I
- 7:38Speaker 3: didn't deal with half, maybe three quarters of the stress
- 7:42Speaker 3: that they deal with, because as you continue on, you
- 7:46Speaker 3: have to learn dances like that. And you know, I've
- 7:50Speaker 3: been out of the dance world for a long time.
- 7:51Speaker 3: I watch my daughter, but I don't pick up dances
- 7:54Speaker 3: like you know, constantly anymore, So I think it would
- 7:58Speaker 3: be really hard. Also, so back in the day, I
- 8:02Speaker 3: had really bad back problems. I ended up getting a
- 8:04Speaker 3: long bar fusion, So who knows, Like, and please, I'm
- 8:09Speaker 3: fifty three years old, so it's my body is not
- 8:13Speaker 3: the way that it used to be. It doesn't bend
- 8:15Speaker 3: and it doesn't have the strength and all of that.
- 8:18Speaker 3: So it would be hard. But I would love to
- 8:20Speaker 3: be part of it, just to just to be part
- 8:23Speaker 3: of the energy and excitement.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Yeah, they need a redemption season, like people like I
- 8:30Speaker 1: feel like got screwed. I want them to do that
- 8:31Speaker 1: in Traders so then I can go back and not
- 8:33Speaker 1: Yeah in the second episode exactly, let's talk about the
- 8:37Speaker 1: process of working on that show. Can you shed some
- 8:41Speaker 1: light into learning these dances when you know it's not
- 8:46Speaker 1: something that comes like completely naturally to you in terms
- 8:50Speaker 1: of like you don't know something you.
- 8:51Speaker 2: Know the chacha or whatever.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Yeah, totally, Yeah, talk us through that, because it seems
- 8:58Speaker 1: like that would be really really hard.
- 9:01Speaker 3: Really really hard. And listen, back in the day, they
- 9:04Speaker 3: had no budget, right, so like literally I think the
- 9:09Speaker 3: budget was this tiny compared to like how big it
- 9:12Speaker 3: is now. Louis had to pay. He lived in Utah
- 9:16Speaker 3: at the time I was in Vail, and he had
- 9:20Speaker 3: to pay for his own hotel rooms for his travel
- 9:24Speaker 3: from Utah to Colorado for to teach me my dances,
- 9:29Speaker 3: our dances and to clean them and everything. So now
- 9:35Speaker 3: you go to LA, you live there while you're while
- 9:40Speaker 3: you're learning, and you're rehearsing every single day, like ten
- 9:44Speaker 3: twelve hours. I feel like a day, right at least,
- 9:49Speaker 3: and we would he would come to Colorado, would teach
- 9:54Speaker 3: me my routine, we would have like a couple hours rehearsal,
- 9:58Speaker 3: and he'd go home. Like it was not like now.
- 10:02Speaker 3: So I feel like, at least if I did it now,
- 10:04Speaker 3: I would have a little bit of a leg up
- 10:06Speaker 3: because I would be in rehearsal a lot more. And
- 10:09Speaker 3: that's when you learn, and that's when you can clean
- 10:11Speaker 3: and actually feel comfortable dancing the dance. But back then,
- 10:15Speaker 3: we had no budget and I even had to ask
- 10:19Speaker 3: around to see where we could rehearse. They weren't providing
- 10:24Speaker 3: us with a dance studio. So it's kind of crazy
- 10:27Speaker 3: how that has changed. I think now, you know, like
- 10:31Speaker 3: I said, they go to LA, they're put up wherever
- 10:35Speaker 3: they live, and they're in the studio, and then they're
- 10:39Speaker 3: at the actual like filming studio, you know all the time,
- 10:44Speaker 3: you know, setting up whatever, setting up the numbers and
- 10:47Speaker 3: all of that. So and they're so present on social
- 10:51Speaker 3: media this last season. I was loving all of their
- 10:55Speaker 3: content because so much of it as original. Whoever is
- 10:58Speaker 3: doing their content on social media? I think it's just
- 11:01Speaker 3: the pros, or maybe it's the clubs too, But I
- 11:04Speaker 3: loved what they were doing because it was fun and
- 11:07Speaker 3: new and original and funny, and I just loved all
- 11:12Speaker 3: of that. So I feel like that part of it too,
- 11:15Speaker 3: has really elevated the show.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Are you watching the next bro? I am, but like,
- 11:21Speaker 1: were you watching it before we asked you to come
- 11:23Speaker 1: and do No?
- 11:24Speaker 3: No? But but I wanted to because I was always
- 11:28Speaker 3: I've been a massive fan of So you think you
- 11:32Speaker 3: can dance from the from the get go? So sad
- 11:35Speaker 3: that that is ending, But so you think you can
- 11:37Speaker 3: dance any dance show. I was watching World of Dance.
- 11:40Speaker 3: I think that was Derek Cuff and j Low. I
- 11:44Speaker 3: feel like I'm missing one, but any dance reality show
- 11:48Speaker 3: I was all about and I had it on my
- 11:51Speaker 3: radar when I got the phone call, I was like, Okay,
- 11:54Speaker 3: this is the excuse for me to start binging, and
- 11:57Speaker 3: and now I'm and now I'm definitely hooked. I want
- 12:01Speaker 3: to know who is going to win, and I want
- 12:04Speaker 3: to see how it all progresses and what happens and
- 12:08Speaker 3: if who I'm thinking is going to win is right.
- 12:12Speaker 1: Okay, let's say who we think is going to win
- 12:13Speaker 1: on three? Okay, let's see we got the same the same? Okay, one, two, three?
- 12:19Speaker 1: Adele Lena oh or different?
- 12:24Speaker 3: She's probably my She's probably tied, like maybe not second,
- 12:27Speaker 3: maybe first and a half. But she's amazing too, so
- 12:32Speaker 3: such a powerful dancer, and she knows ballroom. But the
- 12:36Speaker 3: fact of the matter is Selena doesn't come from the
- 12:39Speaker 3: world of ballroom, and still she crushes it every time.
- 12:43Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 12:45Speaker 1: You've obviously watched Dancing with the Stars because you were
- 12:48Speaker 1: on it, and you're now watching the next pro.
- 12:52Speaker 2: Completely non biased. What show do you enjoy more?
- 12:57Speaker 3: You know? It's interesting because this is a about the
- 13:01Speaker 3: people who will be the pros, and I keep thinking
- 13:06Speaker 3: about that as I'm watching it, and who I like
- 13:09Speaker 3: because I want I want to see them with the celebrity,
- 13:12Speaker 3: right so there's certain people on this show that I
- 13:16Speaker 3: do not think will be good with celebrities. Interesting to
- 13:21Speaker 3: note is Aj is one of them. And he's been
- 13:23Speaker 3: on Strictly Come Dancing or whatever they call it now,
- 13:28Speaker 3: and so he's obviously been with prose. But he has
- 13:32Speaker 3: an error and maybe this is editing. You know, we
- 13:36Speaker 3: come from the world of reality television, so we know,
- 13:38Speaker 3: but it seems like he has a little bit of
- 13:42Speaker 3: arrogance to him. And I feel like as a celebrity,
- 13:47Speaker 3: I am most attracted to the people who are assertive
- 13:51Speaker 3: about how they teach, not aggressive and not arrogant, like
- 13:56Speaker 3: that they are supportive of a celebrity and are going
- 14:02Speaker 3: to help them. That it's not all about the pro
- 14:06Speaker 3: do you know what I'm saying.
- 14:07Speaker 2: So I totally agree.
- 14:09Speaker 3: Yeah, So I think it's it's really interesting, Like Dancing
- 14:13Speaker 3: with the Stars now, it used to be about the celebrities.
- 14:17Speaker 3: Right now they're more focused, well not more focused, but
- 14:21Speaker 3: I feel like they're focused on both. It's not just
- 14:25Speaker 3: all about the celebrities life. It's about how the celebrity
- 14:28Speaker 3: and the pro integrate in their chemistry and meeting each
- 14:31Speaker 3: other's families and like you know, all of that. I
- 14:34Speaker 3: buy into that so hard, Like I love all of that,
- 14:39Speaker 3: but the next pro is just about who is good
- 14:42Speaker 3: enough to be on the show as a pro. So
- 14:44Speaker 3: it's interesting. I like both, but you know, I mean, please,
- 14:49Speaker 3: I'm biased Dancing with the Stars.
- 14:52Speaker 1: I've watched both now and you know, don't take offense
- 14:57Speaker 1: to this, but like, I think what I love about
- 14:59Speaker 1: Dancing with the.
- 15:00Speaker 2: Stars is the.
- 15:02Speaker 1: Is the Nascar effect of it all like fun to
- 15:06Speaker 1: see them crash, right, Like, yeah, it's fun to be like, oh,
- 15:10Speaker 1: the celebrities are also unathletic like.
- 15:12Speaker 3: Me, and they're just like us.
- 15:17Speaker 2: They're exactly one of us.
- 15:20Speaker 1: But I do like this version, I think a little
- 15:23Speaker 1: bit better because it's like I can't tell that they're
- 15:28Speaker 1: not doing great, Like I need the judges to say
- 15:31Speaker 1: what's going on for me because.
- 15:32Speaker 2: I'm like that was cool, that was cool, that's nice.
- 15:34Speaker 1: Like you know, it's like when I've hosted a bunch
- 15:37Speaker 1: of food Network shows and they have to be a judge,
- 15:41Speaker 1: and I'm like, it all tastes good to me. I
- 15:42Speaker 1: can't I'm not good at this isn't my thing. It's delicious.
- 15:48Speaker 1: I think that's why it's like it's all so so
- 15:50Speaker 1: really really just amazing to me to watch. And I
- 15:55Speaker 1: also just love like this season has been like jam
- 15:59Speaker 1: packed with drama. I mean, I don't know, did you
- 16:01Speaker 1: see episode two with Alan and his talking about his
- 16:04Speaker 1: mother's story and then recreating that thing. I cried in
- 16:07Speaker 1: the second episode, which I mean, I was amazed that
- 16:10Speaker 1: it happened so.
- 16:11Speaker 3: Quickly, heartbreaking, and the part that Shirley Ballast was like,
- 16:16Speaker 3: I will never forget this for the rest of my life.
- 16:19Speaker 3: I was like, she's seen a lot, yeah dance, a
- 16:22Speaker 3: lot of dance, so for her to say that was
- 16:25Speaker 3: really profound. I love Alan too. Actually, he's up there
- 16:30Speaker 3: with Selena and Adele. With those I think that he
- 16:35Speaker 3: could probably be the next pro as well.
- 16:45Speaker 2: Let's talk about episode three. It's a good one.
- 16:48Speaker 1: You know, it's like the most bachelor thing in the world,
- 16:51Speaker 1: with the super tease from before the episode with the
- 16:54Speaker 1: ambulance and like people freaking out and you're like, oh
- 16:56Speaker 1: my god, what happened?
- 16:57Speaker 2: Just missing up hot dub, Yeah exactly.
- 17:00Speaker 1: Britt meets some of the contestants to begin rehearsing, so
- 17:03Speaker 1: she is the guest judge this week. Britt Stewart, Britt
- 17:08Speaker 1: does a performance with all the contestants. She's joined by
- 17:10Speaker 1: at larger group of dancers. So the challenge this week
- 17:13Speaker 1: is dancing as a group. It's part of being a
- 17:17Speaker 1: pro and dancing with the star, she says, And they
- 17:20Speaker 1: will recreate the choreography that Britt just performed. If you
- 17:24Speaker 1: were one of these like potential next pros, what's one
- 17:31Speaker 1: dancing Dancing with the Stars pro that you would want
- 17:35Speaker 1: to come and be like your guest judge.
- 17:38Speaker 3: Oh, Jenna, and she's coming next week, so for sure Jenna.
- 17:42Speaker 3: I also love Whitney and Juliane Huff, like yeah, hands down.
- 17:50Speaker 3: I mean Derek. The fact that they had Derek the
- 17:52Speaker 3: first episode that was that was a great decision, especially
- 17:56Speaker 3: because he like is like family with the Ballasts, you know,
- 17:59Speaker 3: move to England and lived with them for a while.
- 18:02Speaker 3: So love the Huffs And yeah, I love Jenna right
- 18:09Speaker 3: now and Whitney there two of my favorites. So hopefully
- 18:13Speaker 3: Whitney will come on later.
- 18:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I got I gotta think she will, right and
- 18:18Speaker 1: she has to and Val has to come on as well,
- 18:20Speaker 1: Like Val has.
- 18:21Speaker 3: To come on. I mean if they had Jenna, they'll
- 18:23Speaker 3: And I love Val he is the nicest guy. So
- 18:26Speaker 3: at these dance competitions for my daughter, a lot of
- 18:30Speaker 3: times they bring in Dancing with the Stars pros to
- 18:34Speaker 3: teach them the ballroom like classes that they take. Just
- 18:38Speaker 3: met Ezra, the nicest human. He's so funny, so cute.
- 18:42Speaker 3: He came in and like surprised the girls were posing
- 18:45Speaker 3: from our dance studio. They were posing for a group picture,
- 18:48Speaker 3: and he went and got into the picture, which was
- 18:50Speaker 3: so cute. So I've met Val. Val has bought the
- 18:56Speaker 3: girls Shirley Temples at one of the dance petitions. Love him. Yes,
- 19:03Speaker 3: I think all of them are amazing, Like truly, I
- 19:06Speaker 3: could go on and on about the pros. They're also
- 19:09Speaker 3: so great.
- 19:10Speaker 1: The irony of the show is that at this point,
- 19:13Speaker 1: the show has gone on for so long that I'm
- 19:15Speaker 1: almost more familiar with the pros than I am with
- 19:18Speaker 1: a lot of the celebrities.
- 19:20Speaker 3: Exactly. I think that we've all bought into their lives,
- 19:25Speaker 3: like we've gotten to know them and they are growing
- 19:28Speaker 3: up in front of our eyes. You know, like Jenna
- 19:31Speaker 3: when she first started on So you Think you Can
- 19:33Speaker 3: Can Dance? She was teeny tiny, you know, probably just
- 19:37Speaker 3: coming out of high school and crushed it. She was
- 19:41Speaker 3: so memorable. But then to like see her grow into
- 19:45Speaker 3: the pro that she is on the show now and
- 19:49Speaker 3: the life that she's created with Val and their cutie
- 19:52Speaker 3: pie little kid and all of it, Like, I just
- 19:56Speaker 3: I love. It's like characters and books. You fall in
- 19:59Speaker 3: love with characters and books and you just want to
- 20:02Speaker 3: see more. And that's why I think you're not alone.
- 20:05Speaker 3: I think that so many people share that that they
- 20:09Speaker 3: want to see how the pros do. We're also rooting
- 20:12Speaker 3: for them, right, if they ever won a Mirror Ball,
- 20:15Speaker 3: then we want them to win. So it might not
- 20:18Speaker 3: even be about this love that they're partnered with. It
- 20:20Speaker 3: might just be about how we want them to win.
- 20:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:23Speaker 1: Britt meets up of the contestants to begin rehearsing for
- 20:25Speaker 1: the group dances. Britt emphasizes that a group performance can
- 20:29Speaker 1: be difficult because synchronicity is so important for traditional ballroom dancers.
- 20:34Speaker 1: This might be even more difficult. Were you surprised to
- 20:38Speaker 1: see because this is who I said was the best
- 20:40Speaker 1: dancer that Adele messed up in the beginning.
- 20:45Speaker 3: Oh that's right, I forgot about that. Yes, surprised, But
- 20:51Speaker 3: also she is if you think about it. She always
- 20:55Speaker 3: is just with her solo or a partner when she's competing,
- 20:59Speaker 3: so to be surrounded by people and know your space.
- 21:03Speaker 3: As a person who came from the world of like
- 21:06Speaker 3: group numbers, I was never performing as a soloist. I
- 21:09Speaker 3: was always with the group. You really like how Shirley
- 21:13Speaker 3: said about your peripheral vision. You have to pay attention
- 21:17Speaker 3: to where you are on the dance floor or on
- 21:20Speaker 3: the rehearsal floor or whatever in order to know how
- 21:24Speaker 3: big you can go with your movements. And that kind
- 21:27Speaker 3: of goes into you know, the injury that happened. But yes,
- 21:31Speaker 3: Adele is such a pro. But it's interesting because she
- 21:36Speaker 3: has flaws just like all of us. She's human and
- 21:39Speaker 3: she just doesn't have a lot of experience being in
- 21:42Speaker 3: a group. So that that made sense, you know that
- 21:45Speaker 3: she didn't She always goes big, it seems like, so
- 21:51Speaker 3: she needs to just you know, rein that in a
- 21:54Speaker 3: little bit. And I thought that I love all of
- 21:57Speaker 3: these challenges because they are so valuable on Dancing with
- 22:03Speaker 3: the Stars. You definitely need to know all of the
- 22:06Speaker 3: things that they are challenging with in order to be
- 22:09Speaker 3: able to be successful as a pro on the show.
- 22:11Speaker 1: Good segue from the adele dancing with a big group
- 22:15Speaker 1: to you know, the slap herd around the world where
- 22:18Speaker 1: Natalie gets hit.
- 22:23Speaker 2: Are you supposed as.
- 22:24Speaker 1: Big of a thing as it was? In the moment,
- 22:27Speaker 1: I thought, Oh, she's got kind of pooked in the eye.
- 22:28Speaker 1: She got to go, you know, take a knee for
- 22:30Speaker 1: a second, and then should be back. I was surprised
- 22:32Speaker 1: to see that I kind of escalated.
- 22:34Speaker 3: I was definitely surprised to see that she didn't come back.
- 22:37Speaker 3: I would never have guessed that she wasn't going to
- 22:40Speaker 3: come back when it happened. But I will say as
- 22:44Speaker 3: a mom, I've known a lot of kids who have
- 22:47Speaker 3: gotten concussions for much less. It seems like, and I'm
- 22:51Speaker 3: guessing that she has a concussion or she had a
- 22:53Speaker 3: concussion when it happened because she got hit in this area, so.
- 23:00Speaker 1: She got kind of dizzy as well, and like then
- 23:02Speaker 1: that's usually like a kind of a head injury situation.
- 23:05Speaker 3: Yeah, I feel like she probably had a concussion, because
- 23:07Speaker 3: if it was her eye, I feel like she would
- 23:09Speaker 3: have just been like, I'm going to power through. But
- 23:12Speaker 3: from a medical standpoint, I believe that taking her help
- 23:15Speaker 3: for a concussion was probably the right thing to do.
- 23:18Speaker 1: The other drama that happens in this is that Nina
- 23:20Speaker 1: begins to tell the girls what to do, which just
- 23:22Speaker 1: seems kind of like a fiend.
- 23:24Speaker 2: Here.
- 23:25Speaker 1: Selena tries to give her input, but she shut down.
- 23:29Speaker 1: During the practice, Britt tells the dancers that they'll be
- 23:31Speaker 1: performing right now. They had three hours to practice, which
- 23:34Speaker 1: is exactly how long the pros have to learn their
- 23:37Speaker 1: opening number.
- 23:38Speaker 2: Is that true?
- 23:39Speaker 3: I don't know if that's true for the opening number,
- 23:44Speaker 3: but I do know that they do things on.
- 23:46Speaker 2: The fly all the time.
- 23:47Speaker 3: Yeah, all the time. I mean, it's just it comes
- 23:50Speaker 3: with the territory. You know. They have to know their
- 23:52Speaker 3: stuff and they have to be able to remember it really,
- 23:56Speaker 3: really really quickly.
- 23:57Speaker 1: Surely and Mark walk into the studio after performing, Britt
- 24:01Speaker 1: asked the judges, who is the week his dancer. Surely
- 24:03Speaker 1: points out that Tristan was very, very ahead. Mark notices
- 24:08Speaker 1: that Nina was rushing the music, not spatially aware. Do
- 24:12Speaker 1: you think that Nina was rushing because Tristan was ahead
- 24:15Speaker 1: because they were dancing a lot together, or do you
- 24:17Speaker 1: think that they would just both were not on beat?
- 24:20Speaker 3: I was I actually was thinking about that because they
- 24:26Speaker 3: have been pointing out that Nina has a hard time
- 24:30Speaker 3: with her musicality and being right on the beat, and
- 24:36Speaker 3: then they called out Tristan for it, and I thought,
- 24:39Speaker 3: but Tristan has partnered with Nina and she's the one
- 24:42Speaker 3: that has been dealing with this issue. So I was like,
- 24:46Speaker 3: why didn't they say anything to Nina about being off
- 24:50Speaker 3: of her timing? I thought that was really interesting. I
- 24:53Speaker 3: don't know. I don't know if it was Tristan or Nina,
- 24:57Speaker 3: but historically, at least for the past the first two shows,
- 25:01Speaker 3: maybe it was the second show that it really came
- 25:03Speaker 3: about that they were talking to her about her timing,
- 25:06Speaker 3: so who knows. I thought that that they held that
- 25:10Speaker 3: against Tristan was a little bit unfair because and mind you,
- 25:16Speaker 3: as we always say, in reality television, so much hits
- 25:19Speaker 3: the cutting room floor. You don't know if they did say,
- 25:22Speaker 3: you know, we know you're with Nina, and maybe that's
- 25:24Speaker 3: what's happening, but they did kind of or you know,
- 25:27Speaker 3: say to Nina, you know, you need to work on
- 25:29Speaker 3: your timing, especially when you're with a partner like that's
- 25:33Speaker 3: really important. So it's just a matter of who was
- 25:37Speaker 3: leading who If Nina was doing more of the leading
- 25:40Speaker 3: when she was with Tristan, then maybe she was leading
- 25:43Speaker 3: it to a point where she wasn't doing great on timing,
- 25:48Speaker 3: and if Tristan was leading, then it would be his fault.
- 25:52Speaker 3: But it doesn't matter anyway because they got to stay.
- 25:55Speaker 1: It's of note though, because you know, the guy who
- 25:57Speaker 1: went home in the last episode was Benji and he
- 25:59Speaker 1: was teamed up with Nina, and then now you know,
- 26:02Speaker 1: Nina is teamed up with Tristan and all of a sudden,
- 26:05Speaker 1: so it's almost like whoever she's with, usually he's in
- 26:08Speaker 1: trouble and not her. It's just something that kind of
- 26:10Speaker 1: like keep in mind going forward. Back of the house,
- 26:13Speaker 1: Selena admits that she was excited for the challenge but
- 26:15Speaker 1: ended up struggling because she was clashing with Nina. Selena
- 26:18Speaker 1: tells Nina, you don't respect me. Nina apologizes, and Selena
- 26:22Speaker 1: tells her that she was trying to quote take over
- 26:25Speaker 1: the rehearsal. Nina doesn't agree with that. Nina seems to
- 26:28Speaker 1: be clashing with everyone. I'm going to say this so
- 26:31Speaker 1: you don't have to say this, but there's a part okay,
- 26:33Speaker 1: but there's a part of me that thinks that Nina
- 26:35Speaker 1: might be a mean girl.
- 26:37Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I see where you're coming from with that.
- 26:41Speaker 3: I think that she when she gets on the dance floor,
- 26:47Speaker 3: her her personality changes a little bit from what I'm seeing, Like,
- 26:51Speaker 3: I don't see her being a mean girl in the house,
- 26:53Speaker 3: like when she's interacting with them, when she's not on
- 26:56Speaker 3: the dance floor, but on the dance floor, who knows.
- 27:00Speaker 3: Maybe she's always had instructors who were like that, who
- 27:04Speaker 3: were very like blunt and you know, pushy, bossy, whatever,
- 27:10Speaker 3: and she's learned that that that's how you're supposed to be.
- 27:14Speaker 3: But I feel like at this point there are a
- 27:17Speaker 3: lot of group elements where you have to work with
- 27:20Speaker 3: someone or with a group, and so I feel like
- 27:24Speaker 3: she definitely needs to work on that. Yeah.
- 27:29Speaker 1: Unfortunately, I wonder if you know, if she were to
- 27:31Speaker 1: win this, how she would respond with a celebrity.
- 27:37Speaker 3: That's that's hard. I don't because of that, Yeah, I
- 27:42Speaker 3: have put her out of the running. I don't think
- 27:44Speaker 3: that knowing the casting directors, knowing the producers for this show,
- 27:49Speaker 3: I don't think they would put her with a celebrity
- 27:52Speaker 3: seeing how she is in rehearsals because This is essentially
- 27:58Speaker 3: like a casting reel the entire show. You know, how
- 28:03Speaker 3: they're acting, how they're choreographing, how they're interacting with everyone,
- 28:11Speaker 3: and how they're coming across on camera, if people are
- 28:14Speaker 3: loving them, if people are not liking them, all of
- 28:16Speaker 3: that stuff. I feel like this is a perfect casting reel.
- 28:21Speaker 3: It's a great opportunity for these producers and casting directors
- 28:25Speaker 3: to see what we love. I'm sure they're listening to
- 28:28Speaker 3: all of the podcasts to get all of the scoop
- 28:32Speaker 3: on what people are thinking. But I think, as in
- 28:35Speaker 3: terms of Nina, I think she's a beautiful dancer, and
- 28:37Speaker 3: it doesn't mean that she can't do anything professional. I
- 28:42Speaker 3: just don't think that this is the show for her.
- 28:44Speaker 3: Dancing with the Stars.
- 28:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, this is maybe like a little insider
- 28:47Speaker 1: baseball for me. It's what's interesting is is that the
- 28:50Speaker 1: casting of the celebrity is important, but then also the
- 28:53Speaker 1: casting of who goes with the celebrity is so important
- 28:56Speaker 1: because personalities have to mesh well, physicality has to mesh well,
- 29:02Speaker 1: especially when you're playing with you know, we dancing with
- 29:03Speaker 1: like a basketball player and stuff, and.
- 29:06Speaker 2: That's got to be exactly a very.
- 29:08Speaker 1: Intricate web you have to weave before the show starts totally.
- 29:13Speaker 3: I remember this season. I think you're friends with him,
- 29:17Speaker 3: the basketball player who was like seven thousand feet tall,
- 29:22Speaker 3: and he was partnered with uh oh gosh, I'm blinking
- 29:27Speaker 3: on her name right now. Anyway, their height difference was massive,
- 29:33Speaker 3: but because of her personality, she was like, whatever, we're
- 29:37Speaker 3: going to make this work. And if it was anyone
- 29:40Speaker 3: who kind of like was a curmudgeon and was like,
- 29:44Speaker 3: well this is not okay, you know, and weren't willing
- 29:49Speaker 3: to actually work with it, then maybe it wouldn't have
- 29:51Speaker 3: worked out. But I felt like they were really connected
- 29:54Speaker 3: and they vibed and and she was like, listen, we're
- 29:56Speaker 3: just gonna we're going to dance to the best of
- 29:59Speaker 3: our ability. And I thought they'd did a great job.
- 30:08Speaker 1: Rehearsal day two, Natalie is still not there. She's being
- 30:11Speaker 1: held under medical supervision. Kind of surprised that the injury
- 30:16Speaker 1: was this serious, but I guess I'm holding out hope
- 30:18Speaker 1: that she gets to come back. Robert and Britt explained
- 30:21Speaker 1: challenge number two. So they're creating a group dance. They'll
- 30:24Speaker 1: split into two teams create a team dance Nina and
- 30:27Speaker 1: Tristan are the captains, even though they were the weakest
- 30:30Speaker 1: link when they did the group dance, which I thought
- 30:32Speaker 1: was interesting. So Nina's team is doing the tango, it's
- 30:36Speaker 1: alan Aj and Adele. Everyone's got an a name there.
- 30:39Speaker 1: And then Tristan's team is doing the pas dooble, which
- 30:42Speaker 1: is Selena and Eric. Okay, I'm going to put on
- 30:47Speaker 1: my producer hat and tell you what I think happened here.
- 30:49Speaker 3: Okay, good.
- 30:51Speaker 1: I think that this second challenge, creating a group dance
- 30:56Speaker 1: thing was had to do on the fly. I think
- 31:00Speaker 1: originally what they were going to do was have everyone
- 31:03Speaker 1: do a group dance together and just see who decided
- 31:06Speaker 1: to delegate as the leader, and it was just gonna
- 31:08Speaker 1: be much bigger group. But then when you lost Natalie,
- 31:12Speaker 1: it made the teams even, and then all of a sudden,
- 31:16Speaker 1: it's a fair fight between two teams. I think that
- 31:20Speaker 1: that's what valid.
- 31:21Speaker 3: I completely see that, because if they did have an
- 31:26Speaker 3: odd I mean, they could have put more people on
- 31:30Speaker 3: one team. But I completely see that. Yes, and I
- 31:34Speaker 3: think it worked well like to show, because it brought out,
- 31:38Speaker 3: you know, certain people's personalities. It was it was great
- 31:43Speaker 3: and the fact that they were like up against each other,
- 31:46Speaker 3: you know, it creates creates some kind of you know,
- 31:49Speaker 3: obviously competition within a competition, but yeah, I can totally
- 31:54Speaker 3: see that go on, producer.
- 31:56Speaker 1: Yeah, well, because if you think about it, it was two
- 31:58Speaker 1: boys and two girls to each team, than they could
- 32:00Speaker 1: dance together, right, and if there was one more person there,
- 32:03Speaker 1: it would have been weird because then like what are
- 32:05Speaker 1: they doing during that time?
- 32:07Speaker 3: Although I thought when they were choosing that Nina was
- 32:13Speaker 3: going to choose I think she went first that Nina
- 32:16Speaker 3: was going to choose Eric instead of Adele, and she
- 32:21Speaker 3: would have all boys and she would be the only girl.
- 32:24Speaker 3: So strategically maybe she'd have done I mean, they did well,
- 32:28Speaker 3: but strategically she could have been like front and center,
- 32:33Speaker 3: you know, with all these guys surrounding her, and then
- 32:36Speaker 3: the other team would have been Tristan and all the girls.
- 32:40Speaker 3: So I kind of was hoping to see that, but
- 32:44Speaker 3: but you're right, it was like kind of like they
- 32:46Speaker 3: could partner off within their little groups.
- 32:49Speaker 1: Also, the producer and me was really hoping that Nina
- 32:51Speaker 1: was going to choose Selena to be on her team
- 32:53Speaker 1: because they've already got I think that have been fun,
- 32:55Speaker 1: but I'm not surprised that she did not do that.
- 32:59Speaker 1: Christina is working together to choreograph, and Nina handed the
- 33:04Speaker 1: reins to Aj to be in charge of their routine.
- 33:07Speaker 1: Tristan begins to shut down because he's confused during practice.
- 33:10Speaker 1: Selena encourages him to speak up. I think that Nina
- 33:14Speaker 1: played a smart play here in letting someone else be
- 33:17Speaker 1: in charge.
- 33:19Speaker 3: Sure did Yeah, I think you know.
- 33:21Speaker 2: That she in charge, but you sure she did.
- 33:27Speaker 3: No, that was very smart on her part. And I
- 33:30Speaker 3: think that also she would have clashed with Aj because
- 33:34Speaker 3: AJ wants to lead all of the any chance he
- 33:38Speaker 3: gets to lead someone, he's he's all about it. So
- 33:42Speaker 3: I think that there would have been some clashing there
- 33:44Speaker 3: if she hadn't allowed Aj to kind of do what
- 33:46Speaker 3: he does.
- 33:47Speaker 1: Yeah, And so you were saying that you think that
- 33:49Speaker 1: AJ wouldn't be a great pro because he wouldn't work
- 33:54Speaker 1: well with celebrities. And is that because you think that
- 33:56Speaker 1: AJ thinks of himself as as like the celebrity, because that's.
- 34:02Speaker 3: Yes, you kind of put words to it. I think that.
- 34:06Speaker 3: And it just seems like like the fact that when
- 34:10Speaker 3: they did on the second show, what was it like
- 34:14Speaker 3: they had to use one of their stories and then
- 34:18Speaker 3: convey you know, acted out. You know, I can't remember
- 34:23Speaker 3: what they called it, but you're trying to get people
- 34:25Speaker 3: to feel something when you tell your story, and I
- 34:29Speaker 3: thought it was interesting that his story was just about
- 34:33Speaker 3: him and winning. Yeah, and then you've got Alan who
- 34:39Speaker 3: loses his mom, and you know, like I felt like
- 34:44Speaker 3: it was that choice kind of showed his cards.
- 34:48Speaker 1: If you will, you have a team past a double
- 34:54Speaker 1: A Tristan, Selena, Stephanie, and Eric. Production note. I'm noticing
- 35:01Speaker 1: it not to ruin it for everyone else, but whoever
- 35:06Speaker 1: goes last is usually who's doing better, Like Alan went
- 35:12Speaker 1: last in episode two because obviously it was so good.
- 35:16Speaker 1: And so the second that Team Pasadola was going, I
- 35:19Speaker 1: was like, Okay, they're not going to do great. One
- 35:21Speaker 1: because their rehearsal didn't look as strong, but two because
- 35:26Speaker 1: they were going first. Tristan's team tells Shley that they
- 35:29Speaker 1: worked together on choreography. The judges they weren't super impressed.
- 35:33Speaker 1: They want a little bit more. They thought that the
- 35:36Speaker 1: beginning was good, but it fell off a bit.
- 35:39Speaker 2: What did you think of the dance?
- 35:40Speaker 1: Do you think that one person should have led the
- 35:42Speaker 1: team versus like kind of everyone contributing.
- 35:46Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 35:47Speaker 3: I liked that they worked together. I didn't think that
- 35:49Speaker 3: that should have been held against them necessarily before going
- 35:56Speaker 3: into the dance. They needed to judge it based on
- 35:59Speaker 3: what they said, and I think what they saw was
- 36:02Speaker 3: that it was kind of scattered. So I think that's
- 36:04Speaker 3: why they judged the fact that they had not one
- 36:11Speaker 3: chef in the kitchen. You know, that there wasn't one
- 36:14Speaker 3: person who was cleaning, And I do think that there's
- 36:16Speaker 3: something to be said for that. If there is one
- 36:18Speaker 3: person in charge, then they can say no, I said
- 36:22Speaker 3: that your hand should be like this, and your hand
- 36:25Speaker 3: is like that, you know, like whatever, They can worry
- 36:27Speaker 3: about the details, So there is something to be said
- 36:31Speaker 3: for that. But because it's a group challenge, I think
- 36:34Speaker 3: it's nice that they all worked together and they worked
- 36:37Speaker 3: well together, So that seemed like they should have at
- 36:41Speaker 3: least gotten some points for working well together, even though
- 36:45Speaker 3: it wasn't. It kind of fell apart. I agreed completely
- 36:49Speaker 3: with what they said that it came out really strong.
- 36:52Speaker 3: I was like, Okay, yes, I love this, this is
- 36:55Speaker 3: going to be great, and then I was kind of bored,
- 36:58Speaker 3: like halfway through, and I was like, what's happening? They
- 37:02Speaker 3: lost me a little bit. I thought they they danced well,
- 37:07Speaker 3: but and they weren't always in sync, and that's a
- 37:11Speaker 3: problem when you're dancing a group number.
- 37:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I think surely even says it to Tristan, being like, listen,
- 37:17Speaker 1: we called you out earlier in the group dance for
- 37:21Speaker 1: not being on time. I was really hoping that you
- 37:23Speaker 1: would step up, and you didn't, And it does look
- 37:26Speaker 1: like that he is definitely on the chopping block. I
- 37:29Speaker 1: agree with you, though, Like for this dance, I really
- 37:31Speaker 1: loved the open and I really loved the clothes. I
- 37:33Speaker 1: thought that was really cool, and then kind of everything
- 37:35Speaker 1: in the middle, like the book ends were great. With
- 37:37Speaker 1: everything in the middle was like, nah, I don't know totally.
- 37:40Speaker 3: I love the ending.
- 37:41Speaker 2: Yeah, it's amazing.
- 37:42Speaker 1: Tango was pretty great. Is Nina aj Alan and Adele.
- 37:47Speaker 1: Nina explains the judges that aj took the lead on
- 37:50Speaker 1: this piece within twenty second, Alan falls, Are you like, Okay,
- 37:56Speaker 1: I'm watching this and in my mind I'm like, there's
- 37:59Speaker 1: no way ick at think about anything else other than
- 38:02Speaker 1: the fall. After I fail, I don't know how you
- 38:03Speaker 1: continue to go after you.
- 38:05Speaker 3: Fall because you've been trained. Yeah, because that's what happens.
- 38:10Speaker 3: You are in dance classes every day, you know, and
- 38:14Speaker 3: you fall, and all they say in the world of
- 38:18Speaker 3: dance is you fall and you get back up, and
- 38:20Speaker 3: you don't let anyone know that that just happened. Even
- 38:23Speaker 3: though you know that they know, you keep going because
- 38:27Speaker 3: if you stop, then obviously that's what people are paying
- 38:30Speaker 3: attention to. So you just have to keep going and
- 38:32Speaker 3: that just comes with training. You just know that you
- 38:35Speaker 3: get up, even though everyone of course has it in
- 38:40Speaker 3: the back of their mind along with the choreogography that
- 38:42Speaker 3: they're actually doing in the moment, they have it in
- 38:45Speaker 3: the back of their mind. Oh crap, I just fell,
- 38:48Speaker 3: and this whole dance is ruined because I just felt
- 38:51Speaker 3: because the first thing he said when they finished was ah,
- 38:55Speaker 3: I just fell, or however he said it. But yeah,
- 38:58Speaker 3: of course you worry about that. But I think to
- 39:03Speaker 3: their point, the judge's points, it's what you do with
- 39:07Speaker 3: that situation, because everyone's human. Adele did it, like what
- 39:12Speaker 3: was her name, Brier did it in the first you know.
- 39:15Speaker 3: I think there are times when the stage or the
- 39:18Speaker 3: floor is slippery, or you just lose your footing it happens.
- 39:23Speaker 3: I was thinking in that moment, how many times I
- 39:27Speaker 3: would love to know this fact. I'm sure Dina could
- 39:29Speaker 3: tell us, But how many times a pro has actually fallen?
- 39:35Speaker 3: Do you know what I mean? Like, it's not happened
- 39:37Speaker 3: that often? Yeah, oh like in the live show. Yeah,
- 39:43Speaker 3: there can't be a lot. I just don't think that
- 39:46Speaker 3: it happens all that often. So if this happens again
- 39:49Speaker 3: with Alan, you know it will have to pay attention
- 39:53Speaker 3: to it. But I think that it's a human thing,
- 39:57Speaker 3: you know, Accidents happen, just how you react afterwards.
- 40:01Speaker 1: I thought it was interesting because Mark Applaud's allen forgetting
- 40:03Speaker 1: right back up after his fall, and he thought it
- 40:06Speaker 1: was a good decision for Nina to allow Aj to lead,
- 40:10Speaker 1: and you kind of touched on it earlier, like Mark
- 40:13Speaker 1: Applaud's allen for getting back up and continuing on. But
- 40:16Speaker 1: it's really what took Briar out, I think in the
- 40:18Speaker 1: last episode. So it seemed like it was almost like, well,
- 40:23Speaker 1: it's okay for you because you had an amazing episode
- 40:25Speaker 1: two and then like you did really well afterwards. I
- 40:28Speaker 1: thought it was a bit of a double standard.
- 40:30Speaker 3: Yes, but I will say that the comparison when you
- 40:34Speaker 3: look at the quality of movement with Alan compared to Brier,
- 40:38Speaker 3: it's very different. In the world of ballroom. I was
- 40:42Speaker 3: paying attention to Briar. She's a gorgeous girl, and I
- 40:46Speaker 3: feel like a beautiful dancer, But I just don't know
- 40:48Speaker 3: that Dancing with the Stars was the show for her,
- 40:51Speaker 3: because if you look, I am obviously, as I said before,
- 40:55Speaker 3: not technically trained in ballroom. But after watching the show
- 41:00Speaker 3: for so many years, you know, two decades. Oh, that
- 41:05Speaker 3: was another thing I wanted to say Derek Huff the
- 41:07Speaker 3: first episode. I know this is an episode that we're recapping,
- 41:11Speaker 3: but he said, you know, I've been part of this
- 41:14Speaker 3: show for more than two decades, and I was like, no,
- 41:19Speaker 3: because I was on the first season and that was
- 41:22Speaker 3: in two thousand and eight and it hasn't been twenty
- 41:24Speaker 3: years yet. I was like, hmm, Derek, no, that's not
- 41:29Speaker 3: true anyway. So so I think that as watching all
- 41:36Speaker 3: of these pros over the years, you know, you learn
- 41:39Speaker 3: what it should look like, right, and there were just
- 41:43Speaker 3: some technical things that Brier was doing that just weren't
- 41:47Speaker 3: weren't up there. They weren't at the level that they
- 41:50Speaker 3: need to be and I have to I'm putting on
- 41:54Speaker 3: my producer hat and I'm thinking, you know, as someone
- 41:59Speaker 3: who's producing the show, we're not going to include the
- 42:02Speaker 3: part where she was criticizing Brier for falling, as as
- 42:08Speaker 3: all of the judges were. But I think that what
- 42:11Speaker 3: we did not see is that they were also criticizing
- 42:15Speaker 3: her for her lack of technique when it comes to.
- 42:18Speaker 1: I don't disagree with that. Surely thought Aj was the
- 42:21Speaker 1: start to day. She notes that he was self absorbed
- 42:23Speaker 1: in the first two weeks, but he was humble and
- 42:25Speaker 1: great today, which maybe that that might be a good
- 42:29Speaker 1: sign for him in terms of having to work with
- 42:32Speaker 1: the celebrity because he was less self absorbed and very
- 42:36Speaker 1: humbled today. Do you think that AJ's ego was a
- 42:40Speaker 1: little inflated in the past two episodes? I do, Yeah,
- 42:44Speaker 1: I did too, Yeah, being like my story is when
- 42:48Speaker 1: I was great this one time.
- 42:51Speaker 3: Ah.
- 42:51Speaker 2: Yes, the trial, I am a winner.
- 42:54Speaker 3: You're welcome. Yes, you're welcome for my presence.
- 42:57Speaker 1: No surprised Tango won the challenge. They're safe from illumination.
- 43:03Speaker 1: Selena and Tristan are in jeopardy. Tristan, he is a
- 43:07Speaker 1: lot of fun to watch, but I do feel like
- 43:10Speaker 1: his days are numbered here. I think he's a little
- 43:14Speaker 1: how do I say over his skis a bit like
- 43:16Speaker 1: he's obviously great with like this underground breakdance thing, but
- 43:20Speaker 1: like ballroom seems like to be this entirely other beast
- 43:24Speaker 1: and he does seem to be freaking out. But because
- 43:28Speaker 1: of Natalie's injury, everyone is safe. So who do you
- 43:33Speaker 1: think is really in trouble next week?
- 43:36Speaker 3: I think Tristan's in trouble next week. I think that
- 43:39Speaker 3: just his lack of experience with ballroom, you know, it's
- 43:41Speaker 3: nothing to be held against him. I think he's really
- 43:44Speaker 3: fun to watch. Like you said, I loved him especially
- 43:47Speaker 3: on the first episode, and that when he was had
- 43:50Speaker 3: the cape when they started their dance was really powerful.
- 43:54Speaker 3: I just feel like you can see that he doubts himself,
- 43:57Speaker 3: and you cannot doubt yourself as a pro and dancing
- 44:01Speaker 3: with the stars, you need to be the one that
- 44:03Speaker 3: the celebrity relies on, like feels supported by. You need
- 44:08Speaker 3: to have the self assurance to be able to get
- 44:11Speaker 3: the celebrity through it, because the celebrity is going to
- 44:13Speaker 3: have a lot of self doubt, you know. So I
- 44:16Speaker 3: think Tristan's on the block. I also want to say
- 44:19Speaker 3: that we haven't talked about Stephanie at all. I felt like,
- 44:24Speaker 3: why didn't we talk about like Nina was part of
- 44:29Speaker 3: I can't remember his name leaving her partner. He left,
- 44:33Speaker 3: and they talked about that, Benji, thank you, and they
- 44:37Speaker 3: talked about how Stephanie, you know, it was totally an accident,
- 44:42Speaker 3: but she ended up hitting Natalie with her hand, and
- 44:46Speaker 3: there was there was no conversation about that, not that
- 44:51Speaker 3: that is it should be any part of why she
- 44:54Speaker 3: stays or goes on this show. I just feel like
- 44:59Speaker 3: one thing that stands out to me is that she
- 45:02Speaker 3: was on the troop, so she's been on the show before.
- 45:06Speaker 3: If they didn't give her a position after being on
- 45:09Speaker 3: the troop, I don't know that it's going to happen
- 45:12Speaker 3: this time.
- 45:12Speaker 2: Interesting.
- 45:14Speaker 1: Are you surprise that Natalie decided not to kind of
- 45:17Speaker 1: return to the show.
- 45:19Speaker 2: Do you think she could made it to the end.
- 45:21Speaker 3: I don't think she had. I don't think she had
- 45:23Speaker 3: the choice.
- 45:23Speaker 2: Yeah you think that.
- 45:24Speaker 3: I think medically the doctors that are you know, that
- 45:29Speaker 3: are working with the show told her that she can't.
- 45:31Speaker 3: I think she would have come back if she was
- 45:33Speaker 3: given the opportunity.
- 45:36Speaker 1: Well, episode three a very fun Dancing with the Stars.
- 45:40Speaker 1: The next pro you think that Selena is going to
- 45:44Speaker 1: win this thing. I think Adele is going to win
- 45:46Speaker 1: this thing. Can you come back at the end of
- 45:49Speaker 1: the season if you're right, will you come back?
- 45:52Speaker 2: And so you can.
- 45:55Speaker 3: I want to come back anyway, so if you ever
- 45:57Speaker 3: need me to another but I would love to come back,
- 46:01Speaker 3: and yes, I'm happy to. But I also I feel
- 46:04Speaker 3: like we should have chosen a girl that we think,
- 46:07Speaker 3: and we should have chosen a boy. And if we
- 46:09Speaker 3: chose a boy, I would choose I would choose Alan.
- 46:12Speaker 1: I agree with that. I think Alan is the strongest dancer. Also,
- 46:15Speaker 1: there was like kind of a side plot where Eric
- 46:18Speaker 1: was kind of telling everyone that he had a crush
- 46:20Speaker 1: on brit.
- 46:23Speaker 3: But she's married.
- 46:24Speaker 2: I know. I was like, what is this storyline? What's
- 46:27Speaker 2: happening here?
- 46:28Speaker 3: I know, maybe it's just Biller.
- 46:30Speaker 1: Yeah, Christa, thank you so much for coming on by
- 46:32Speaker 1: order of the Faithfuls Dancing with the Stars edition. Before
- 46:35Speaker 1: you go, What are you doing? Where can people find you?
- 46:39Speaker 1: What do you want to promote all that stuff?
- 46:41Speaker 3: Oh gosh, nothing, I'm just on Instagram at Trista Sutter,
- 46:45Speaker 3: and we haven't had a podcast in a while, but
- 46:49Speaker 3: I'm on the almost famous podcast the Ogs. If you
- 46:53Speaker 3: want to listen, we are. Are you coming to my
- 46:55Speaker 3: pickupball event? Probably not because you're a golfer, but thee.
- 47:00Speaker 2: Yes, I can't.
- 47:01Speaker 1: I'm going to be I'm working, unfortunately, but it looks
- 47:05Speaker 1: so much fun.
- 47:05Speaker 3: Bummer, you need to come next year.
- 47:07Speaker 2: I know, I love. It's hard for me to turn down.
- 47:10Speaker 3: Tahoe agreed. I think it's amazing. So yeah, well, have
- 47:16Speaker 3: fun working and hopefully we'll see you next year, and
- 47:18Speaker 3: hopefully I'll come back on and I'm going to be.
- 47:20Speaker 2: Right Trista, thank you so much for coming on the show.
- 47:25Speaker 1: For all you out there, if you're not following us
- 47:26Speaker 1: on social media, please do it by order of the
- 47:28Speaker 1: faithfuls dm us any questions, concerns, or potential guests you
- 47:32Speaker 1: want us to have on the show. This is a
- 47:33Speaker 1: lot of fun. I'm always sad to see Dolores not
- 47:36Speaker 1: show up on my zoom link, but it was lovely
- 47:38Speaker 1: to have Trista fill in for you.
- 47:41Speaker 2: We'll be back again.
- 47:42Speaker 1: Next week recapping episode four of Dancing with the Stars.
