- 0:15Your least favorite Scary movie? The podcast where we talk about
- 0:18the good, the bad, the ugly and the absurd and all of our
- 0:20favorite. And the least favorite?
- 0:22Scary movies. Because we believe every horror
- 0:24movie rightfully has is fanbase. Even if we don't always get.
- 0:27My name is Travis. My name is Jesse and welcome.
- 0:31It truly is a wonderful knife. That's what we're talking about
- 0:36this week. Yeah, it's a wonderful knife.
- 0:37Yeah, Patreon voted episode for this month.
- 0:40Yes indeed it is. Quick announcements, We had our
- 0:44TV or Not to Be episode that came out this past Sunday.
- 0:46We covered Chris Massacre AKA Secret Santa, it was a lot of
- 0:51fun. Be sure to go check out that
- 0:53episode and check out the movie. It is streaming for free
- 0:56currently on 2B. Yeah, for sure.
- 0:58Yeah, a good time. Yes, I'm excited about that one.
- 1:01Speaking of pre show announcements, do we have poll
- 1:04results? We do OK.
- 1:06So we talked about Silent Night Deadly Night Part 2 last week,
- 1:12so naturally we wanted to know what your all's Christmas looks
- 1:15like. So we have four options we have
- 1:18going to the movies garbage day. Yeah, taking out the trash.
- 1:22Visiting old friends. Yeah, like, like Mother
- 1:25Superior. Or going on a picnic.
- 1:27Yeah, I don't have anything else.
- 1:31To add to that one, yeah, you know, Jeep massacres, yeah,
- 1:33yeah, stuff like that, you know where that happens.
- 1:36So 27% are going to the movies. OK, we we do that on.
- 1:42Christmas. Yeah.
- 1:42Well, we've done a couple Christmases.
- 1:44We did it last Christmas. Yeah, yeah, garbage day got 55%.
- 1:49Man, what is what is your all's tax situation?
- 1:53What are you paying to have trash pick up on Christmas Day?
- 1:56Is it actually efficient track trash or is it for the memes?
- 2:01I know yeah. Visiting old friend got 18% and
- 2:04going on a picnic 0. Yeah, OK.
- 2:09Out of all those, yeah, going to the movies is most fitting for
- 2:12us because, yeah, we went to the movies last year.
- 2:15I don't know, Maybe this year, again, we'll see how it goes.
- 2:17If anything's playing that, we'd want to see that's.
- 2:19Something my family used to do quite a bit.
- 2:21Yeah, yeah, a lot of people do it.
- 2:23It was a packed theater when we went.
- 2:24Yeah, that one time it. Was actually a pretty good time.
- 2:26Yeah. So yeah, that's it for the poll.
- 2:29So I think we are good to go into the movie this week.
- 2:32I would say that we are all. Right.
- 2:34So kick it off, Jesse. I will go ahead and kick it off.

- 3:19Bernie Simon, Justin Long as Henry Waters, Kevin Isabella's
- 3:23GAIL Prescott and Cassandra Nod as Karen Simmons Travis.
- 3:28Yes, it's time for our favorite game.
- 3:30Budget or buck? Ted.
- 3:37Buck, Ted. Probably, I actually don't have
- 3:42any information. Oh really?
- 3:43Budget for it. Surprising.
- 3:45Yeah, it it feels Buck Ted, though.
- 3:47I mean, it's got good production.
- 3:49It's just, you know, it doesn't seem like a movie that needed
- 3:51$10 million. Yeah, it's a it's a decently
- 3:53small little little set up. It does have an opening box
- 3:57office of 598,000 and a worldwide gross of 1.3 million.
- 4:02Oh good. Currently sitting with a 5.2 out
- 4:04of 10 on IMDb. I did pull three other movies
- 4:08from 2023. OK.
- 4:10And I have a theme. Yeah.
- 4:12Telling retellings of familiar favorites.
- 4:14Oh, that's cool. Yeah.
- 4:16So the first one is Cocaine Bear, which is a bit of a legend
- 4:20in Kentucky because the Kentucky for Kentucky store does in fact
- 4:23have primary ownership of Pablo Escobar.
- 4:26He lives here in Lexington with us.
- 4:28Yeah, they're like in the Kentucky for Kentucky store
- 4:30right now. Yep, that was released February
- 4:3324th, 2023. It had a budget of $35 million.
- 4:37It was a big movie, man. That's a good.
- 4:39Movie It made a worldwide gross of 88 million and has an IMDb
- 4:45score of 5.9 out of 10. It might be because we are at
- 4:48the heart of that story. I mean, it takes place in
- 4:51Tennessee. I don't know why.
- 4:52I can't remember exactly why Kentucky has claimed it, but,
- 4:56you know, it's ours. Yeah.
- 4:57We. We call dibs.
- 4:58Yeah. But there was a lot of hype
- 5:01around that movie. Yeah, and there was like a whole
- 5:03special release at the Kentucky Theatre with Pablo there.
- 5:07Elizabeth Banks should have been there for that, right?
- 5:10Why weren't you there, Elizabeth?
- 5:13How dare. How dare.
- 5:16OK, second movie, Winnie the Pooh, Blood and Honey.
- 5:20Yeah, cool. All right, another bear.
- 5:22And we have talked about that one on the show.
- 5:24So if you want to hear our full thoughts on that, go ahead and
- 5:27look for that. But that released March 17th
- 5:30Imam's birthday 2023 budget of $100,000.
- 5:33Where do I gross of 7.7 million? Yeah.
- 5:37And I'm gonna go ahead and say this is a rude IMDb score.
- 5:40It's in the fours if I have to guess.
- 5:42It's in the twos. What it's?
- 5:44A 2.9. It's nowhere near that bad.
- 5:48Why are people? I feel like that's like
- 5:50reactionary. And I feel like we, we talked
- 5:53about this a lot on our full episode covering it, that a lot
- 5:56of people were just mad that it's a Winnie the Pooh horror
- 5:58movie cuz we've gotten much more positive.
- 6:01Reception has been shown for Blood and Honey too.
- 6:04Also deserved. And we will be covering it at
- 6:06some point. Yeah, I just don't understand
- 6:08why people, I mean, like 2 is definitely an improvement over
- 6:12one, but one is by no means a bad movie.
- 6:16I don't that that's people hate like, oh, it's lazy by just like
- 6:20taking Winnie the Pooh and making a horror movie out of it.
- 6:23You know, like whatever, man. Real fun moments in there.
- 6:26Yeah, I we talk a lot about that in the episode.
- 6:29If you want to hear our thoughts, just go listen to
- 6:31that. But that's that's really
- 6:32upsetting. Yeah.
- 6:35And then finally, we haven't seen this one, but it is
- 6:38Renfield. Wow.
- 6:39OK, Yep. Cuz that's about Dracula's
- 6:42assistant. Yeah, that's a weird casted
- 6:45movie right there. Yeah, it's we got Nick Hall and
- 6:49Nick Cage. Nick Cage and also Ben.
- 6:54Fuck. What's his last name?
- 6:55Jean Ralphio. Ben Schwartz.
- 6:58Yes, I get Ben Schwartz and Jason Schwartzman.
- 7:00I get their names mixed up online.
- 7:02Yeah, it's. Easy.
- 7:03I transpose them. Yeah.
- 7:05So anyway, Renfield released April 14th 2023.
- 7:08It had a budget of 65,000,000 and a gross of 26,000,000.
- 7:13IODB score is 6.4 out of 10 so you know people are feeling it.
- 7:18People like it, but I've just never had any desire to watch
- 7:23that I it's. One of those that like if we
- 7:27were with a group of people and somebody put it on, I'd probably
- 7:29like, you know. Yeah, sure, whatever.
- 7:33Vampires are just a tough sell for me honestly.
- 7:36That could be a whole different conversation.
- 7:39Yeah. Yeah, OK, I have a tagline.
- 7:44A tagline? Just one OK.
- 7:47Every time a bell rings, an Angel gets to kill.
- 7:50Yeah, that's kind of good. It's good cuz it's a playoff of
- 7:53it's a wonderful life. Like I'm not mad about it.
- 7:56Yeah, wonderful wife. It's a wonderful life.
- 8:00I thought you said wife, no life.
- 8:02OK, All right. That's what I was confused
- 8:04about. Yeah.
- 8:05OK, interesting. I have some fun facts.
- 8:10Not not a lot of information out there, but I've got some stuff.
- 8:13Yeah, it's not too surprising. Principal photography took place
- 8:17in Vancouver from March 20th to April 14th, 2023.
- 8:21So they got done just in time to go watch Renfield.
- 8:24Yeah, I got man. Finally.
- 8:26We got to get it done today, guys.
- 8:28The rest of this comes from an interview on borrowingtapes.com
- 8:32with Michael Kennedy. So he was in Lock Town.
- 8:37Freaky was about to be released and he was trying to figure out
- 8:40what his next movie was going to be.
- 8:41And he really, really wanted to do a Christmas horror movie.
- 8:45One of his favorites of all time is Black Christmas.
- 8:48And his kind of thoughts were that like, there's a very dark
- 8:52movie darker than he typically tends to write.
- 8:54Plus you just can't top one of the best movies of all time.
- 8:58No. So he was thinking back on his
- 9:01time making Freaky and Oh my God, what's his name?
- 9:07The person he worked on Freaky with Chris, Chris Landon.
- 9:11Chris, yes, Chris Landon had had him really involved in like the
- 9:14whole process throughout. So that way he could see what
- 9:16it's really like, like on set from start to finish with the
- 9:19movie. And he was thinking about how it
- 9:21was such a good time and he really enjoys the horror comedy
- 9:24stuff. And he was like, what if I do
- 9:25another mashup type of movie like that, but with Christmas.
- 9:28And then he was thinking about one of his dad's favorite movies
- 9:31and his dad had passed a few years ago.
- 9:33It's a Wonderful life and the ISDS just kind of started coming
- 9:37together and so that's how he ended up with It's a Wonderful
- 9:40Knife. He did have the killer
- 9:45description kind of in the script where it was like all
- 9:48white and he was trying to think of like a good killer design.
- 9:51He didn't want to do a killer scene because that had been done
- 9:53before. But it's so fun, who cares?
- 9:56So he was trying to think of different Christmas imagery and
- 9:58he's like, well, a lot of people top their Christmas trees with
- 10:00angels. So he basically described the
- 10:02killer as being in a white mask, dressed in all white from top to
- 10:04bottom, white boots, white gloves, etcetera.
- 10:06And he's like, you don't want to put wings on the killer because
- 10:09that's clunky. It's going to look weird, you
- 10:11don't want to do that. So he also described the dagger
- 10:13and that's like if you look at the designs on the dagger, it's
- 10:15got kind of like a wing like design on the hilt or haft or
- 10:19whatever. And so that's how they got the
- 10:21dagger design, and I thought that was pretty cool.
- 10:23That's cool. And then Justin Long actually
- 10:26pitched the way his character was dressed and played like that
- 10:30was his suggestion for him to be because he came in, he read the
- 10:33script. He's like, listen, I want to do
- 10:34this, but I've got my idea for how I want to do this.
- 10:37I want him to have very badly done blonde hair, be spray
- 10:41tanned, have the veneers. He's very much basing him off of
- 10:44Joel Osteen. I was going to say like he
- 10:47basically watched Righteous Gemstones and then like.
- 10:50Uncle Baby Billy. Yeah, Yeah.
- 10:52So that that's what he was going for with that.
- 10:55And they loved the idea. And they said that he was just
- 10:57like, great on side, like in between takes, he would, like,
- 10:59crack up. But then, you know, right before
- 11:02they're about to start, he would get back into character.
- 11:04He said he really is the actress actor.
- 11:06That's cool. Yeah, he seems like a good guy
- 11:08to be on a project with for sure.
- 11:10Yeah, so that's most of my fun facts I did have.
- 11:14I did read like another interview.
- 11:16It didn't have like a ton of like stuff on the making of the
- 11:19movie, but just kind of their general processes and stuff.
- 11:22This was on slash film and it was an interview with Tyler
- 11:25McIntyre and Michael Kennedy, and one of the things they
- 11:29talked about was that this got kind of flooded with some bad
- 11:33reviews for people that are homophobic.
- 11:36Yeah, I remember back on Twitter he was really going in on and
- 11:39being like that. Yeah, he just kind of they said
- 11:42that they just kind of started leaning in on it at one point
- 11:44because it got ridiculous. And he was like, somebody said
- 11:47that this movie was forcing a gay anti suicide agenda and he
- 11:53was like, so do we need more pro suicide move?
- 11:56Like, is that what you're advocating?
- 11:58For as long as they're gay. And then he joked around that
- 12:02like he was like, maybe, maybe Ben Shapiro will weigh in at
- 12:05some point, and then everybody will know about the movie's
- 12:07existence. I mean, bad press is good press,
- 12:09I guess, yeah. Yeah, so, and I think we had
- 12:13talked about this before. I think that's just fucking
- 12:15stupid. Gay people exist probably more
- 12:18than the homophobic people in the world realize, because
- 12:23somebody doesn't have to say that they're gay to a person
- 12:26that's going to be openly hostile towards them.
- 12:30They shouldn't have to. But, you know, the fact of the
- 12:33matter is the number of gay couples in this movie is not
- 12:36really that outrageous. It's not.
- 12:39It feels like it because they don't do that in movies a lot.
- 12:42I think it's it's only because it's like it's a rare case where
- 12:46there are more gay relationships than straight relationships
- 12:49portrayed in the movie. That's probably what sets some
- 12:51people over there, which is just weird.
- 12:53I mean, it's just, it's just relationships.
- 12:56It's really not even that big of a deal.
- 12:57Relationships, just whatever man get.
- 13:00The fuck over it. Like if gay people have to watch
- 13:03straight relationships all over in their movies.
- 13:04Like you can take one movie, you know what I mean?
- 13:08You don't even have to watch it. Yeah, honestly, if it offends
- 13:11you that much, just don't watch it.
- 13:13Yeah. So anyway, that was like the big
- 13:16controversy surrounding the movie and probably unfortunately
- 13:20had a negative impact on on its spread and reception.
- 13:25Maybe. I don't know, I feel like really
- 13:28people that knew about this movie were already you have to
- 13:31be plugged into the horror community.
- 13:32You have to know about this. And I feel like the horror
- 13:34community is more generally accepting of that type of thing
- 13:37than a lot of other people. Yeah, well, a lot of horror
- 13:41roots are queer. Yeah, I just think that this
- 13:45movie, it was a very limited release and there was a small
- 13:48movie. I guess I tend to forget about
- 13:51how limited some releases are now that we're living in one of
- 13:54the biggest cities in Kentucky. It it.
- 13:57We only had it for, like two or three days up here.
- 14:00Yeah, like it was. It's not even like, like a full
- 14:02week in theaters. So, you know, it's just, it's
- 14:05just what it is. And I've seen a lot of positive
- 14:07comments about it online. You know, people like this
- 14:10movie. Yeah, and they should.
- 14:12And really the only thing I saw and like I'm not saying it
- 14:14didn't exist, but the only thing I saw about like the anti-gay
- 14:17stuff is from Michael Kennedy. Just like agitating the people
- 14:22doing, like, responding to people and like, talking about
- 14:24how it was the gayest movie in all all the time.
- 14:26Like he just like kept like Harp.
- 14:27It's like, Oh yeah, it's so fucking gay.
- 14:29It's like over and over again. I'm like, whatever.
- 14:31Like OK. And I think that's also
- 14:33partially because we tend to try and just curate our online
- 14:37spaces. To yeah, that's what I'm saying
- 14:39I'm I'm not saying it didn't happen and it didn't exist.
- 14:42It's just that wasn't my experience like from walking
- 14:45online all. Right, on that note, yeah, I
- 14:50guess we go. We go ahead and we start talking
- 14:52about our own good, bad, ugly and absurd with the movie.
- 14:55OK, kick it off, Travis. I I like the way that this movie
- 15:00is done. So he's definitely like, I mean,
- 15:03this guy's experience with doing mashups of like different types
- 15:06of movies. Actually, I don't even know if
- 15:07I've, I'm familiar with a movie that he's done that isn't a
- 15:10mashup of other movies. This and Freaky.
- 15:13That's the only thing I think I've seen of his, but he does a
- 15:16good job of combining the elements there.
- 15:19I thought it was really interesting how it opens and we
- 15:23already know the killer. That's a unique thing that's not
- 15:29done often. And then you get the title card
- 15:31and you're like, what's the rest of the movie?
- 15:33Yes, that was the exact moment I had.
- 15:35I was like, OK, we get all this and then what's the rest of the
- 15:38movie? Which obviously we know what the
- 15:39rest of the movie is gonna be if you're familiar with It's a
- 15:40Wonderful Life. Yeah, but still.
- 15:43Well, how was that? Very.
- 15:44Interesting. Yeah, it was a very interesting
- 15:46way to do. That and then you cut a year
- 15:47later like, well, damn, a lot of times past.
- 15:50What are we gonna get into? But it's really interesting.
- 15:55It's very tight, kind of like we were what we were saying about
- 15:58the R2B movie. It, it's a short runtime, it
- 16:02tells a story. It needs to, it doesn't linger
- 16:04on things. It doesn't need to.
- 16:05It gets in, does it? I like the killer a lot, and I
- 16:10may not be a lot, but like, you can't tell me that this guy was
- 16:15not inspired by Ghostface. This is basically like White
- 16:18Ghostface. I they did in in the slash film
- 16:22interview they did end up talking a lot about Scream as an
- 16:25inspiration. I mean, even with the way that
- 16:27the scenes are handled, like you, you take a wag, you take a
- 16:31swing at this person they're whiffing over, they're falling
- 16:34on their feet the entire time. They're stopped so easily.
- 16:37This is Ghostface. And I would definitely
- 16:39recommend, and I'll put the link to that in the show notes here.
- 16:42I would recommend everybody read that interview because I think
- 16:45it was really interesting insight into the movie.
- 16:46It was just kind of hard for me to distill into fun facts
- 16:50without just regurgitating the whole article.
- 16:53It almost felt like this is his audition to do Scream, which
- 16:55then got him the job for Scream 7.
- 16:58And then all that shit went down.
- 16:59Yeah. Yeah.
- 17:00So. But yeah.
- 17:02Like, I, you know, it's, it's a fun time.
- 17:04I like all that stuff. It made for a very fun movie.
- 17:08OK, just a long skirt. It's also really funny.
- 17:11I think that this movie is it's really funny.
- 17:14It's got a good sense of humor, I think, especially like
- 17:19Catherine. Isabelle.
- 17:20She I. Forgot she was in the.
- 17:22Yeah, like her, she's just, she plays a supporting character,
- 17:26but like, her lines are she nails it every single time she's
- 17:29on the screen. She's phenomenal.
- 17:31Justin Long, I mean, he's having a moment.
- 17:35He's had a really solid career, but like, he's having a moment
- 17:38lately. And I love it for him.
- 17:40And I like that he brought this, like, characterization.
- 17:43Yeah, to it. It's fun.
- 17:45I think that the the story is like, it's heartwarming in the
- 17:50way it's meant to be, like taking it's it's inspiration
- 17:54from It's a Wonderful Life, but it also has like those horror
- 17:58elements, especially like that dreariness of where she enters
- 18:01this, like alternate reality. Everything's just bleak and
- 18:05awful and terrible. Instead of just doing weed
- 18:08gummies, people are like smoking crack.
- 18:12It becomes a trap house. And like, you know, we, we do
- 18:16touch on that element of suicide and that's rough.
- 18:20But I mean, that's also again, taking from the inspiration of
- 18:23what it is pulling from. And I think there's also the
- 18:29element of it's, it's very real that that grief that you feel
- 18:34around the holidays, when somebody having to face those
- 18:41losses around holidays is a little bit more intense.
- 18:47And then when you're around people that it doesn't feel like
- 18:49they're acknowledging it or feeling the same way.
- 18:51It kind of makes you like, want to scream and lash out at
- 18:54everyone. Yeah.
- 18:56So I, I think that this really hits a lot of good emotional
- 18:59notes on top of being like a fun slasher and also just funny.
- 19:05So I think it's really well done all around.
- 19:07It does have some good comedic moments there.
- 19:09Yeah. OK, on to bed.
- 19:15I think it's weird that we go into like a weird supernatural
- 19:17thing at the end there with Justin Long having the whole
- 19:20town under mind control. I don't like that turn that that
- 19:25was so like out of left field. Like I know we're already
- 19:27supernatural with like the Aurora borealis or whatever
- 19:31doing some reality manipulation, but like, oh and also I can
- 19:35control these people with this power.
- 19:39OK, I, I kind of go back and forth on it cuz like like you
- 19:47said, there's already the supernatural element, but there
- 19:50does kind of become a part. Like I feel like it does
- 19:53partially take away from the impact of what Winnie's supposed
- 19:56to be learning by being in this like an alternate timeline.
- 19:59Yeah. It's like, oh, yeah.
- 20:00Oh, we need, oh, shit, we need to go over there and kill him.
- 20:03Like, they like, tackle so many things and they, like, overcome
- 20:06a lot, but it's not really the fact that they, like, found
- 20:10themselves or found, you know, what was important.
- 20:13They're like, oh, no, like, really we just need to go over
- 20:15there and kill that guy. Yeah.
- 20:16Like I could have not had any of these like.
- 20:19Revelations about myself or other people, like I just had to
- 20:22kill this guy and I'm good, whatever.
- 20:23I much preferred it when it was more of a metaphorical like he
- 20:28breaks. Like after he breaks them he
- 20:30controls them as opposed to like oh he's actually literally mind
- 20:33controlling. Yeah, I mean, their eyes are
- 20:34like glowing because he has them under mind control.
- 20:38I just thought it was really lame.
- 20:40It was it just it made the movie end on a flat note for me, which
- 20:46everything else is great, but that right there I'm like, oh, I
- 20:50don't, OK. Yeah.
- 20:52So that's about, I mean, that's really, there's not much just
- 20:56bad I can say about this movie. I really did enjoy it.
- 20:59Yeah, I honestly, I agree. Like I remember feeling like the
- 21:03third act kind of fell apart a little bit for me when we first
- 21:05watched it, and I felt the same way again last night.
- 21:09It's just like, it was right there, man.
- 21:11Just like, you know, like you had that build up and just like
- 21:14have it be like that personal revelation.
- 21:17And then you also like have this thing with Bernie and then boom,
- 21:21she solved it. She knows her worth, Bernie
- 21:23knows her worth, everybody's happy.
- 21:26And then boom, we're back into reality.
- 21:28But no, like. Oh, and also there's this weird
- 21:30mind control thing going on for just a second.
- 21:33Yeah, I'd agree. I don't really have anything
- 21:36else to add with it so. OK, do you need to pause for a
- 21:40second? Ugly.
- 21:47I guess like the whole thing with Henry trying to take over
- 21:53the whole town and, you know, take all of these people's land
- 21:57and like, late. Stage Capitalism.
- 21:59Killing off people that have businesses that are getting in
- 22:03the way of their development and trying to, yeah, you know.
- 22:05Like I'm just going to murder people so they're too sad to
- 22:07fight the corporate beast. Yeah, yeah.
- 22:11I mean, that's like a pretty easy one.
- 22:12Also the way that the kids treat Bernie.
- 22:15Yeah, poor Bernie. She's got cute makeup and she
- 22:19tries to, she comes to the parties.
- 22:21She doesn't have to do that. She's trying to engage in the
- 22:23culture. Yeah, that, that's another
- 22:26thing. I'd say that my ugly is them
- 22:31giving Weenie a pink tracksuit and Jimmy a truck.
- 22:38How, how did they think about that and think that that was
- 22:41fair? Dad doesn't even her family is
- 22:44fucking shitty, honestly. I mean, they're kind of like, we
- 22:47get like a little window there where she's just happy to see
- 22:50them again. I guarantee you the next day
- 22:51shit falls apart again, she's not gonna get equal treatment.
- 22:54Yeah, well, she's just bidding her time until she gets out of
- 22:57town. Pretty much, I guess, yeah.
- 23:00But yeah, and he tries to spend a I was like, oh, you're my
- 23:02business partner. You need to have like a decent
- 23:04vehicle. Then don't do it at Christmas
- 23:06time. Make it like a business truck
- 23:08like. How about let him get his own
- 23:10fucking thing? If he's like doing Realty,
- 23:12that's not a poor man's business to be in.
- 23:15You make money doing that shit. Yeah, let him do it.
- 23:18So yeah, that's just that, that sense of imbalance.
- 23:25Yeah, it sucks. Yeah.
- 23:27OK, absurd. Yes, absurd.
- 23:30Well first of all, I guess since you brought up Bernie being at
- 23:33the parties, how the fuck did she get to the parties?
- 23:35Nobody has clearly invited her. How does she know where this
- 23:37person lives? I feel like it's kind of it.
- 23:42It seems like it's the Christmas Eve, like it's an annual
- 23:46tradition party. So like everybody knows about
- 23:48it. It was even a reference that
- 23:49like GAIL used to go to it when she was younger.
- 23:52So I think it's kind of like a town tradition for the younger
- 23:55kids. Isn't it at this one guy's
- 23:57house? It moves to the house the next
- 23:59year, but the first year it's at the park it's like at a place at
- 24:04the park. For real.
- 24:07Angel Park Party, and it's the Angel Park Massacre.
- 24:11I thought it was at the guy's house both times.
- 24:13OK, well, yeah, OK. I guess I was one.
- 24:17Other than that, Justin Long's character's opening when he's
- 24:20like his fucking promo that he has for being a realtor, He's
- 24:27just. Like he's a mayor too, I think.
- 24:29Not at that time it's revealed that he's married in the
- 24:31alternate timeline because she's shocked about it.
- 24:34But this whole thing is like, I'm the best, so fuck the rest.
- 24:38Tell him Henry sent you. It's so funny.
- 24:41Yeah. He's like, doing like, karate
- 24:42moves. And also the final thing, the
- 24:45amount of unmasking as we get in this movie, we get we get the
- 24:50killer unmasked like 3 or 4 times and it's just like, it
- 24:52keeps happening. And then to the point where it's
- 24:54like, oh, we're gonna mask and we get, oh, it's still the same
- 24:56guy. Yeah, like, OK.
- 24:58Like, yeah, I thought we were gonna like, uncover multiple
- 25:01angels or something. Yeah, but no.
- 25:02Oh, it's still Joel McHale. OK, there we go.
- 25:04We'll put that back. It's just kind of funny.
- 25:08My absurd is there's a moment where Joel McHale does.
- 25:11Yeah. And Drag Race fans will know.
- 25:15There was an episode where he was a guest judge and he was
- 25:18doing that and pissing off Michelle Visage and like that's
- 25:21all I could hear when he goes. That was pissing her off.
- 25:25Yeah. Wow, OK, just because of the way
- 25:27it sounds. It it's not the way dredging is
- 25:35normally done on Drag Race. I thought that before he invited
- 25:39Joe Mckell. Normally cheer like it's like a
- 25:42sporting event, which is what he was doing, but I kind of loved
- 25:45the enthusiasm of it and the fact that once he realized it
- 25:48was pissing her off, he leaned into it.
- 25:49No, that sounds fun. Yeah, yeah.
- 25:52So that was fun, but I also think the absurdity of like,
- 25:56again, bad bullying, be a battery bull.
- 26:00Like, well, don't be a bully, but if you're going to be a
- 26:02bully, be good at it. Like but instead they're just
- 26:05calling her a weirdo and throwing pretzels at her.
- 26:07Like, it's pretty lame. I think that's pretty efficient
- 26:11bullying, honestly. You you call them something
- 26:14that's like low effort and then you throw things at them.
- 26:17Message received. OK.
- 26:21OK. What are you rating this?
- 26:23I'd give this a 6 1/2. I think I'd give it an.
- 26:27Eight. OK, Yeah, why don't we?
- 26:29I like it. I like it a lot.
- 26:31No, I like it too. It's a good movie.
- 26:33It's just, you know it. It just is.
- 26:36OK. Yeah.
- 26:37Well, we have a starting average of 7.25.
- 26:39Nice. OK, so.
- 26:41Pretty solid. No ready.
- 26:43Let's get into it. So we start off with an ad for
- 26:46Waters Cove right here in Angel Falls.
- 26:49And kind of sells me. He is the best, so maybe we
- 26:53should fuck the rest. I mean, if Justin Long is going
- 26:55to be on screen doing like old karate moves and saying fuck the
- 26:59rest, tell him Henry sent you. I'm going to go there.
- 27:02Like, where's Henry? So oh, go.
- 27:07Ahead. Oh, I was gonna say.
- 27:07Then we cut to the annual tree lighting.
- 27:09Yeah. And he's in charge of it.
- 27:12And the whole family is excited with Christmas magic.
- 27:16Yay. We're gonna go home.
- 27:17It's Christmas Eve. Except they get stopped on the
- 27:19way home. It's Mr. Waters.
- 27:22He always takes David for Christmas Eve work.
- 27:27Yeah, basically there's one thing standing in the way of
- 27:32Waters Cove, and it's Roger Evans's house.
- 27:35And Judy points out that didn't the board vote that his house is
- 27:40a historic monument? And Henry goes almost.
- 27:45They almost voted for it. Yeah, so he's going to bring him
- 27:50over there to try and close the deal on Christmas Eve.
- 27:52So the other family, the rest of the family has to go home.
- 27:56Kind of sad that their dad's not going to be there.
- 27:58Yeah. So he goes over there.
- 28:00They're trying to convince Roger to do the sell.
- 28:04Dude, I love it because they're like, listen, this will be good
- 28:07money. You can pay off your debts.
- 28:08But I like him. He doesn't hold back.
- 28:11He's like, first of all, this house has been in my family for
- 28:12generations, and when I die, I'm going to pass it on to my
- 28:15granddaughter, Kara. Second of all, your dad fucking
- 28:19hated you, Henry, and he should have left the business to David,
- 28:21who was more of a son to him than you ever were.
- 28:23Third of all, fuck yeah. Pretty much Carrie comes down in
- 28:27this moment and she kind of interrupts it, and then she's
- 28:32going out to the party that you were talking about.
- 28:34It's the party that they have every Christmas Eve.
- 28:36The Angel Park party, she's going to go pick up Winnie first
- 28:41cuz they're BFFS. We do.
- 28:43Cut over to the crutler's house and Judy has gotten Henry a
- 28:46rainbow ornament for her gay son.
- 28:49Yeah, she's well-intentioned, sheltered mom ally ship.
- 28:56At least it's nice, you know what I mean?
- 28:58Like it's embracing intention, but they're like, oh God, you
- 29:02have to hang this up. Your mom fucking loves you.
- 29:04Get the fuck over it. Jesus Christ, What's the
- 29:07problem? Jesus, Like it could be worse.
- 29:10Be like you could get kicked out.
- 29:14I I just like that little moment.
- 29:16Yeah, it was nice. It was nice.
- 29:17But these kids? Also, the ants show up.
- 29:21GAIL and Karen. I love them.
- 29:23And they're talking about like, oh, we just visited Karen's
- 29:25parents, and we explained yet again that we're not roommates
- 29:27and are, in fact, married. Yeah, and they were roommates.
- 29:32Katherine Isabel I I keep getting surprised in her being
- 29:36in movies here lately. I'm not mad.
- 29:38Put Katherine Isabel in everything, even if it's like
- 29:41one line. She is such a sarcastic
- 29:44character in this movie and. I love it.
- 29:46She's a sarcastic character and everything to be here.
- 29:49I think maybe her least sarcastic is like America Mary.
- 29:52I wish that she would just do a straight line delivery once in
- 29:56this movie. Like everything is like a
- 29:58fucking joke to her in this movie.
- 30:00That is her role in this movie. Though Yeah, it is, yeah.
- 30:03So Kara comes and picks up Winnie.
- 30:06So they're getting ready to go out.
- 30:08She's like, hey, will you drive on the way home?
- 30:10I really need to get drunk. Henry Waters is harassing my
- 30:13grandpa again. And she's like, of course
- 30:17Jimmy's gonna meet them there. Yeah, he's gotta fix his hair.
- 30:21Speaking of harassing, we cut back over to Roger's house and
- 30:24he is just staring at the fire think and he hears a knock at
- 30:28the door. This is so cinematic, like him,
- 30:31just like at the mantle staring. At he knows that he's in the
- 30:34movie here he's like shit, I gotta get my pose right
- 30:38Chestnuts over an open fire and yeah gets to knock at the door
- 30:44goes to answer the door it's an Angel oh shit it's a snowman
- 30:48it's a snowman and. It like the way the snowman is
- 30:52built. This is God this is fucking
- 30:54theatrical. Honestly, if I get murdered, I
- 30:57hope that it's by somebody who's this can't be.
- 30:59That snowman knows it's in a movie, too.
- 31:01Snowman's like. It's my 15 minutes here, baby,
- 31:05Yeah. And then it gets completely
- 31:08destroyed because the Angel bursts through and slits Roger's
- 31:11throat. Do you think that the Angel was
- 31:13inside or on the other side of the snowman?
- 31:16I think it was on the other side.
- 31:17It was too small to fit him in there.
- 31:18Not that Justin Long is a huge man, but I think he was like,
- 31:22crouched. Also, you'd be like frozen if
- 31:24you're just like, hey, like, yeah, knock on the door, wait on
- 31:26this person. Like also takes time to build a
- 31:29snowman. Also it looked like a lighter
- 31:31weight cotton blend that the costume was made from, so not
- 31:36really suitable for cold wet weather.
- 31:39Too bad this person's all in the snow already.
- 31:43But not, like, in the snow. Yeah.
- 31:47So they get to the party. And Karen, when you're talking,
- 31:50Darla comes over and she is like a stereotypical kind of mean
- 31:55girl. She's drunk.
- 31:56She calls Barney weirdo, Robbie comes and joins them but he
- 32:03immediately wants to get up and like him and Darla are kind of
- 32:06looking at each other. This is just important for
- 32:08later. Yeah, they they both leave to go
- 32:10get another drink and. Jimmy leaves to go flirt and
- 32:16Kara says she's going to go look for Eddie.
- 32:19So Jimmy and the guy he's flirting with are outside and
- 32:23they're smooching and then Jimmy goes hey, let's move inside.
- 32:27I feel like we were being watched out here.
- 32:29But she is because we see the Angel out there in the trees.
- 32:31So good instincts. Jimmy, Kara and Eddie are having
- 32:36a cute little walk along this little bridge and it's got
- 32:39lights over it. And they kiss and she goes, EW,
- 32:42what did you eat before we kissed?
- 32:44And we we discover it's not like that he ate something, it's that
- 32:48he has been stabbed through the head.
- 32:50With a giant ass candy cane. And so she starts to run, get
- 32:55stabbed in the hand, but she fights him off, and she goes
- 32:57running. She gets to the building where
- 32:59the party's at, but she can't quite make it inside.
- 33:01Like, she's begging for somebody to open the door, but she gets
- 33:03massacred, like, in front of everybody, including Winnie, who
- 33:07runs outside and is like, you know, sobbing over her body,
- 33:11saying, like, please don't die. Please don't die.
- 33:13And then she is about to be attacked by the Angel.
- 33:17So she goes running off and she's like hiding behind trees.
- 33:21I mean, I don't really know what her end game is like this
- 33:23jumping from tree to tree business because you're not
- 33:26being very effective at hiding when you do that.
- 33:29Yeah, it's it's really bad. Like that snow is crunching.
- 33:33You're revealing yourself every time you jump out.
- 33:36It's just, it's not. And plus, the Angel is all in
- 33:38white, so he's blending in with the snow.
- 33:40Yeah, I mean, and he's like also right on top of her because he
- 33:43finds her immediately. Yeah, it's about to attack her.
- 33:45But then Jimmy comes out of nowhere, tackles him.
- 33:48They wrestle with All Star, by the way.
- 33:50Yeah, we haven't talked about that, but yeah.
- 33:53And then so he tackles the Angel.
- 33:54The Angel throws him against the tree, which kind of like, stumps
- 33:56him a little bit. But when he gets them up and
- 33:58they run together, at one point the Angel catches up and knocks
- 34:03Jimmy down and is getting really close to, like, stabbing him.
- 34:06You know, He's like leaning down with the knife.
- 34:09Jimmy's trying to hold him off. And then Winnie pops up from
- 34:11behind him with jumper cables and electrocutes him dead.
- 34:17Like completely dead. He's done.
- 34:18They take off the mask and it's Henry Waters and then title
- 34:22card. Yep, Yep, that's So what we got
- 34:25for the opening. So much has happened.
- 34:27What else can happen from here? Who knows?
- 34:30We do. Yeah, yeah, we open to a new
- 34:32promo, but this time it's the Carruthers, Carruthers,
- 34:36Carruthers, Carruthers. They say it.
- 34:39The Carruthers Times It's the Carruthers.
- 34:44Carruthers. Carruthers.
- 34:47They have their own Realty business now they've taken well,
- 34:50they've taken over the waters one and they're do you like.
- 34:54How they're wearing cheesy car salesman suits.
- 34:56Yeah, I mean, it's like a cheesy car salesman commercial,
- 34:59basically. This is the same thing for, I
- 35:01see for our Ford dealerships here in town on TV all the time.
- 35:05They pose together and it's like the whole family together and
- 35:08Winnie's watching and she's like, that's the best shot they
- 35:10got from this. She opens up her computer, she's
- 35:14got an e-mail and she has been rejected from the NYUBFA program
- 35:19and so she's just feeling real bad, didn't get into the program
- 35:23she wants to get into. She didn't even get wait listed,
- 35:27which is normally what you would get around this time of year for
- 35:30programs. Yeah, yeah, she's.
- 35:32Just outright, they said. Just no, you're not good.
- 35:35You can't. You can't even be helped.
- 35:36And then she looks up and she sees picture of Kara and she's
- 35:40just sad. They start to head out because
- 35:44it's. I assume it's time for the tree.
- 35:47Light, tree light. That's what I thought, Yeah.
- 35:48So they're heading downtown. Yeah, And her mom's asking about
- 35:53NYU, and she just kind of like, lies.
- 35:55And she was like, I haven't heard back yet.
- 35:57And then Jimmy goes, you forgot your camera.
- 35:58And she goes, no, I didn't. It's like none of them even
- 36:01realized that her camera got broken at the massacre last
- 36:03year. They haven't noticed it for the
- 36:04past year. She hasn't been taking pictures.
- 36:06They seem generally oblivious to the fact that she is in a real
- 36:10fucking bad head. Space, no.
- 36:11I thought I took it that she didn't take the camera because
- 36:15she's not feeling inspired anymore because she got
- 36:18rejected. No, her camera's broken.
- 36:21It's been a year, she could have gotten a new camera.
- 36:23No, they showed that it was still broken upstairs.
- 36:25Oh, really? Yeah, No, I guess I missed that
- 36:27too. I was also oblivious to it.
- 36:28Yeah, I'm no better than them. But you at least plugged into
- 36:32the fact that she's not inspired and not feeling good.
- 36:34Yeah, that's true. All right.
- 36:36Anyways, they're downtown. We didn't mention before, but
- 36:38Henry had a brother. His name is Buck and he was like
- 36:41a TikTok porn star type deal thing.
- 36:43Yeah, he's, he's a dumb dumb. Yeah, well, he confronts Winnie.
- 36:47He singles her out like, gets her by herself and pins her up
- 36:51against the. He's like a storefront.
- 36:53He's like, you killed my brother and I wish she'd been like he
- 36:56killed my friend and also several other people.
- 36:59I wish she had said that in response.
- 37:01Like he started it like. I think she did.
- 37:04I think she said like he like, like I had, like that night
- 37:08haunts me, like people died that night.
- 37:10Like what did you want me to do? Basically.
- 37:13And he's like, well, the whole town is happy he's gone.
- 37:15Or sure looks like your family's thriving.
- 37:18So yeah, so he's like I should they're.
- 37:20Not, they're not. Not, you know.
- 37:22Yeah, they definitely benefited from it, but I mean, the guy
- 37:24fucking tried to kill them, So what are you doing, you know?
- 37:28Anyways, he just storms off. He's mad.
- 37:31So they cut back to the house, the Carruthers house, Carruthers
- 37:34House Carruthers. Carpenters.
- 37:38They they're doing the tradition of A1 gift on Christmas Eve and
- 37:43when he gets a pink workout suit and David is so proud.
- 37:47He's like nobody else had pink. It's got your initial on it.
- 37:52They make her go try it on. And I read some discussion about
- 37:54this. This is a call back to a
- 37:56Christmas story. Absolutely.
- 37:58Put on the pink Bunny. Yeah, that was very, I thought
- 38:02it was very obvious. I didn't catch the connection,
- 38:05really. Yeah.
- 38:05But I think that's really cute that they made her do that.
- 38:08Yeah. And I also like the ants for
- 38:10both. Like you don't give a woman a a
- 38:13gift that's related to her body, like workout outfit specifically
- 38:17and they're saying you need it like it's something you need.
- 38:20So does that mean no clothing for gifts?
- 38:23It's more the fact that it's very specifically like workout
- 38:26gear when it doesn't seem like working out is Winnie's thing.
- 38:29OK, it's. Not like she was like man, I
- 38:31would love some like Lululemon leggings, you know, like.
- 38:36I gotcha. That makes sense.
- 38:37Yeah. So she goes to try it on, then
- 38:40comes back and she's like, hey, everybody got it on, but
- 38:43everybody's gone. Except for Judy, who's.
- 38:45Pouring a drink. Yeah.
- 38:47And she's like, where'd everybody go?
- 38:48And she's like, well, your brother just got a brand new
- 38:51truck. So she goes out into the
- 38:54driveway. He's out there freaking out
- 38:56about it. They're spazzing out about this
- 38:57gigantic ass truck and she just flips at them.
- 39:02Yeah, she's talking about how everybody's ignored all of the
- 39:05shit that happened last year. She has been traumatized.
- 39:07Nobody has been acknowledging it.
- 39:09And also this isn't a fair gift. Like, yeah, it's a fucking truck
- 39:13and she got a fucking tracksuit. Yeah, and then David's like it's
- 39:16time that you just let the past go.
- 39:19Like, why would you want to relive, relive that night?
- 39:21Like it's not a fucking option, man.
- 39:24Like it? Yeah, it's fucking trauma.
- 39:26Hey, do you remember that? It's more like, man, I can't let
- 39:29go of this. Also, it's the first this
- 39:30Christmas since this has happened.
- 39:32It's a major anniversary of this happening.
- 39:34Also, the Evans family was very close to the Crowther's family.
- 39:38They used to come over for Christmas breakfast every year.
- 39:41Like this is going to be the first year that it's not
- 39:43happening. It's a it's a big deal.
- 39:45Yeah, this family sucks, honestly.
- 39:49She gets a notification that new Christmas Eve party will be at
- 39:52Robbie's house. So when he goes over there and
- 39:55she's looking for him and Bernie's like, Oh yeah, I saw
- 39:58him out in the yard. And she's like, OK, And then
- 40:01somebody else is like, weirdo, you're lying.
- 40:03He's in the laundry room. And she's like, why are you
- 40:06lying about it? She goes, I'm not.
- 40:07It's not. And so she goes upstairs, and
- 40:10she finds Robbie and Darla making out.
- 40:13And he's like, well, we've been doing this for the past year.
- 40:16It's not like you've been exactly present.
- 40:19They started cheating immediately.
- 40:21It sounds like the cheating started before the massacre
- 40:23happened. Yeah, I think so.
- 40:25I mean it kind of was implied in like a previous year scene.
- 40:28Yeah, yeah. So she storms out of the house,
- 40:32she goes to take a walk and she ends up at like a boardwalk type
- 40:35deal. And then she wokes up into the
- 40:37sky and sees Aurora borealis, located in Principal Seymour
- 40:43Skinner's kitchen. Yes, can I see?
- 40:48No. And she's like, no best friend,
- 40:53no school, no boyfriend. Everybody would be better off if
- 40:57I was never born and then the lights get really bright and
- 41:01then go out. Can I just say I meme that thing
- 41:04with my friends back in middle school before that became a
- 41:07thing, we were already we were ahead of the curve on that joke.
- 41:11Oh, you're. Very cool, honey.
- 41:12Thank you. Yes, yes.
- 41:18OK, sorry. Let's continue.
- 41:20So So she goes to ask, like the other pedestrians she had seen
- 41:24on her way there, like if they knew what happened with the
- 41:26lights. And she finds one of them with a
- 41:29knife sticking out of his face. So that's not great.
- 41:33And it's the Angel. And he's running and chasing
- 41:35after her. And she finds the sheriff's
- 41:38truck, bust the window and calls on to the radio.
- 41:40Buck pops up. He's the sheriff now.
- 41:43And he was like, and she was like trying to explain what
- 41:46happened. He goes, oh, the Angel, right?
- 41:48And she's like, what? Apparently it's the 27th strike
- 41:53of the Angel. Hold on, there's a great moment
- 41:56where like the crime scene texts are out there and they're like
- 42:00blocking off the scene. I love that.
- 42:01Yeah, he goes. Put up more caution tape.
- 42:04I just think people should be really cautious.
- 42:06Yeah, and bring out the K9 unit, you know, not because we need
- 42:09it, but I feel like it would help with the vibes, which is
- 42:13true. Like get the dogs out here.
- 42:14Let's make everybody feel good. Yeah, so he was being sheriff
- 42:18after a baby died. He was victim #5 and she goes,
- 42:20how many victims have there been?
- 42:21And he's like 2728 so far. It's about every two weeks or
- 42:25so. Henry is alive and he's the
- 42:30mayor now. So he's the one who appointed
- 42:31Buck Sheriff. So she runs home with all of
- 42:36this new information, sees mom. Mom is wasted.
- 42:40So drunk. Does not even acknowledge her
- 42:43and then she asks where dad or she asks her dad where Jimmy is.
- 42:47And David's like, who are you? And she's like, I'm looking for
- 42:49Jimmy. And I was like, who are you?
- 42:51Why are you looking for him? She goes because I need help
- 42:54from him. Yeah, I guess it's some kind of
- 42:56sick joke, which Can you imagine if like you are somebody and
- 42:59they like some random person stormed into your house asking
- 43:02where they are. Like who the fuck are you and
- 43:04why would you do this to me? Yeah, it's AII get their
- 43:08perspective from it that, you know, we're we're living with
- 43:11Winnie in this moment and she's not realized that they don't
- 43:14know who she is yet. So GAIL is the one that tells
- 43:17her that Jimmy's dead and David kicks her out.
- 43:20And so she's wandering around the town and she sees everything
- 43:24is owned by Henry Waters now. Also, they have an ornament on
- 43:28their tree of the Angel. I missed.
- 43:32That wait, is it their tree we see like a shot of like the
- 43:35Angel? I thought it was the town tree.
- 43:36It could be the town tree. I thought it was their tree.
- 43:38OK, yeah. So anyways, I thought it was
- 43:40interesting that they've made that an actual ornament.
- 43:42Like they are embracing this fucking killer as like a thing.
- 43:48That's interesting. Also Waterx Cove has gone
- 43:51through, is fully developed and already up and running.
- 43:54Yeah, so Winnie goes to the Christmas Eve party, which is
- 43:58very dark. Now we've got angry music.
- 44:01Playing it's a trap house, honestly, I guess, where people
- 44:05go to just like do drugs, like people are in their spray
- 44:08painting the house. They're just showing it no
- 44:09respect, Yeah. It's a.
- 44:12Yeah, her friend before Vicky, who was doing weed gummies with
- 44:14the guy, kind of harmless, you know?
- 44:17Now she's just straight up smoking crack with him.
- 44:19Yeah, it's like it's dark. And she talks to Bernie and
- 44:23Bernie like is friendly with her.
- 44:25And then when he's like, so you recognize me?
- 44:26She's no, but you're talking to me.
- 44:30She's like shown positive attention.
- 44:32It's new to her. And this is also, like, another
- 44:34funny moment because, like, Winnie's going on about how she
- 44:36doesn't exist, and she thinks she's either dead or invisible.
- 44:39And Winnie and Bernie's like, well, no, I recognize you.
- 44:43And she goes, oh, this is Robbie's house.
- 44:46And she goes, yeah, I know that. And she goes, one minute you're
- 44:48invisible, the next minute, you know whose house this is?
- 44:50It's like make up your mind. Because she like.
- 44:52Delivery is so perfect. Yeah, Oh my gosh.
- 44:54She's like going to all of her friends.
- 44:55She's like, hey, do you recognize?
- 44:57Do you know me? She's like, no, you know, like
- 45:00she says it to the other day. She's like, no, but I don't like
- 45:02to. Oh, gross.
- 45:03She's like goes back to the conversation.
- 45:05Yeah, and when he mentions Jimmy and Bernie's like, oh, this is a
- 45:09prank, right? Like, you're going to get me to
- 45:10freak out, and then everybody's going to point and laugh at me,
- 45:12right? Well, I'm not doing that.
- 45:15We come to Vicki and Pete, the drug dealer outside and they're
- 45:18looking at the lights and they're high, and then they
- 45:22start arguing about the murders because another one has
- 45:25happened. So Vicki like, storms off and
- 45:27goes inside and then Pete gets killed.
- 45:31He's the killer. Was just standing there
- 45:33underneath the light. He puts up a decent fight, but
- 45:36ultimately. Gets his capitated, yeah.
- 45:38Yeah, Inside, Vicki is throwing pretzels at Bernie, and Winnie
- 45:46is like, it's been a year since the massacre and the massacres
- 45:50have continued throughout, and you guys are having a party.
- 45:54There are all these murders, and you're still just being mean to
- 45:57Bernie. And so she takes Bernie and they
- 46:00leave. Yep man, as soon as they step
- 46:02out, Vicki also is back outside and she sees the body.
- 46:09They go to Bernie's and she says that she's alone at Christmas a
- 46:12lot because her mom is usually with whoever you know the flavor
- 46:16of the week is. Her dad left when she was
- 46:18younger and caught her when he caught her mom cheating.
- 46:21She shows some of her fashion design.
- 46:24She wants to go to NYU also. And Winnie, it was like, oh,
- 46:28yeah, I know. That was what I wanted to do.
- 46:30I got rejected. And she starts explaining her
- 46:32timeline of things where she had stopped the Angel Park massacre
- 46:36and it was Henry Waters, and she killed him.
- 46:38And nothing was like this back there.
- 46:41And so they're trying to figure out what they need to do.
- 46:44And she's like, I wasn't there to save Jimmy and so.
- 46:49Bernie reveals that she's been tracking this stuff the entire
- 46:52time. She reveals like a whole board
- 46:53with pins and everything, just like where she's been following
- 46:56all the murders. All the teens that were murdered
- 47:00were related to the business owners in town and their
- 47:03businesses died after their children were murdered.
- 47:06Fair. And Bernie starts to get kind of
- 47:10suspicious of Winnie this moment.
- 47:13She's like, you just showed up. And then there were more murders
- 47:17and Ding, Ding, here's another murderer from Pete at the party.
- 47:21And when he's like, but yeah, it was with you.
- 47:22She goes not the whole time. And then the Angel attacks
- 47:25through the window. She's like, OK, well, I guess
- 47:27perfect. You're cleared.
- 47:28Yeah. So she, like, actually takes up
- 47:31the Angel and then they just both run out.
- 47:34And I think that that was enough.
- 47:35That's all Bernie needed to know.
- 47:37Yeah, and Bernie's like you're George Bailey when he says, will
- 47:40you be my clearance? Yep.
- 47:41So they run off to the movies where what is playing Christmas
- 47:49Carol? Christmas Carol, Yeah.
- 47:51So cuz Bernie works there, so she's got the keys.
- 47:53So they sit up and they're just. It's a nice, nice night to just
- 47:57watch movies and sleep uncomfortably in old movie
- 48:01chairs. It seems like this is her
- 48:02tradition that she does. She goes there and just kind of
- 48:04like plays movies for herself. Yeah, Wendy wakes up in the
- 48:09morning and she doesn't know where Bernie is.
- 48:12Bernie has put together another research board and this time
- 48:15it's about Aurora borealis. And she said that there we
- 48:19shouldn't be able to see it. Sometimes it happens, but not
- 48:21typically in this geographical region.
- 48:25And she goes sometimes in some folklore or Aurora borealis is
- 48:28the spirit of a person who is violently murdered.
- 48:32And so they kind of pieced together that maybe this is
- 48:36Henry Waters spirit and kind of transported Winnie to this
- 48:40timeline where he wasn't murdered.
- 48:41And once the light fades, she's not going to be able to switch
- 48:43back to her universe. Right.
- 48:45Yeah, So they go to see her dad. Yes, so she's trying to figure
- 48:53out how they can get close enough to Henry Waters to
- 48:56complete the murder in this timeline.
- 48:58And they're like, we need to get close to him.
- 49:00He does like this naughty or nice event every year and
- 49:03Bernie's like you'll never be able to get up on the stage.
- 49:05And she goes, I know somebody who can get us there.
- 49:08So that's when they decide that they're going to go talk to
- 49:10David because he still works for Henry, Right?
- 49:12Right. And at first, David refuses to
- 49:14talk to her. GAIL opens the door, and she's
- 49:17intervening. And Winnie is, you know, trying
- 49:21to say all of these things about how she knows who these are.
- 49:23And she goes, well, how about you say something that isn't
- 49:26easily Googleable? And she says that one time you
- 49:29got your ass frozen to the sidewalk because you were an
- 49:31Aguilarion Thong to the Angel Park Christmas party in 1999.
- 49:36And she was like, I knew that song would bring people together
- 49:37someday. Come on in.
- 49:39Isn't it interesting that this movie just ignores the butterfly
- 49:41effect? Right.
- 49:42This one person actually had no impact on most of the shit that
- 49:46happened in the world. It's crazy.
- 49:49Yeah. Anyways.
- 49:51A lot happened in a year. Yeah, is really the amazing part
- 49:55of this. That's true.
- 49:57So she gets in, she gets she goes to see her dad and she
- 50:01convinces him to talk because she starts talking about how she
- 50:05knew Jimmy and she's actually bringing up things that he was
- 50:08there for too. So she he knows that she's like
- 50:11a real friend of his. They're crying and reminiscing
- 50:14and she goes and I want to take out the person who killed him
- 50:18and she goes. It was Henry Waters.
- 50:20And he's like, Henry Waters, my best friend, the person I worked
- 50:23for who paid for my son's funeral.
- 50:25Get out. Get out.
- 50:26You need to leave. And she's walking downstairs.
- 50:29She sees her mom, still very drunk this time being kissed by
- 50:32a random dude on the neck. And Gail's like, oh, yeah, she's
- 50:35got multiple side pieces. And Judy's, like, David isn't
- 50:38the same person anymore. He comes and goes at all hours
- 50:41of the night. That sound is her being murdered
- 50:45by the Angel. Yeah, because he's like storming
- 50:48out to go somewhere else again and then as burn or when he's
- 50:51about to leave, like she's getting killed.
- 50:53Yeah. And so is the side piece also.
- 50:56Yeah. Yeah, he he did.
- 50:57Yeah. So burning GAIL and Winnie, they
- 51:00run, they kind of end up upstairs and they knock the
- 51:02Angel down the stairs and it's stunned.
- 51:05He's stunned. So he's not moving.
- 51:07And they're like, OK, we got to climb over top of him.
- 51:09And this was a very specific scene that they referenced in
- 51:12that slash film interview of like the cop car scene, you
- 51:16know, when they're trying to like, climb out of the cop car
- 51:18over top of Ghostface. So they're trying to do this.
- 51:23Yeah. The entire time I was thinking,
- 51:24no, this is the time where you jump off the stairs and you like
- 51:28double like land on their face with your legs.
- 51:31You're boom. You might actually cave in their
- 51:33head, but they tried to kill you so I think it's fair game.
- 51:36Yeah, it's it's self-defense. I know.
- 51:40I know they have a whole other approach.
- 51:41They climb over them slowly, and then they're like, oh, wait,
- 51:44let's actually, let's touch his face.
- 51:47Like they go over there and lift up the mask and uh oh, it's Dad.
- 51:52And in that moment, he's about to attack.
- 51:55And so they run off to the theater.
- 51:58And GAIL is upset because she says Karen was killed over the
- 52:03summer and now her sister Judy and Karen's print shop got taken
- 52:09over by Henry Waters after she was killed.
- 52:12So that was why she was murdered.
- 52:15They. They believe that Henry is
- 52:18controlling the dad, making him do all the killings.
- 52:20It feels very, I'm not sure at this point.
- 52:22It feels very metaphorical. Yeah.
- 52:24He's breaking these people. He's breaking their spirits.
- 52:27And then he's like basically controlling them because they
- 52:29have no will to fight him, right?
- 52:31So he just, they just do whatever he says so.
- 52:34Now plan is to kill the dad. They're gonna kill Dad now too.
- 52:37Yeah, and they're kind of, they kind of talk to him and they're
- 52:40like, listen, we get that it's really fucked up, but also like,
- 52:43this isn't really your timeline. Yeah, also, so just found out
- 52:47that he's a killer, so yeah, it's fair game at this.
- 52:50Point Yeah, the lights fading outside so we gotta figure this
- 52:53shit out. So they stage a set up at the
- 52:57theater and they got on the marquee saying that they are
- 52:59there. Yeah, advertising it.
- 53:02So they are there, they've got the movie going, they're waiting
- 53:05for things to get going and then somebody enters and it's Robbie
- 53:09and Darla. They apparently come here every
- 53:11year. It's their Christmas Eve
- 53:13transition. It's they got together on
- 53:15Christmas Eve. It's their third anniversary or
- 53:17their third adversary. Barf.
- 53:19Gross. It's sweet that they do this so.
- 53:22It's gross to say third adversary. 3rd adversary.
- 53:25It's gross. Yeah, so they are there.
- 53:28They're just gonna hang around and watch a movie while they're
- 53:31like, planning this murder. I like what if the murder had
- 53:35gone according to plan? They just like they don't.
- 53:38Keep watching the movie. Oh, shit.
- 53:40And then just, yeah, just keep watching the movie, yeah.
- 53:42So at one point we do see. GAIL goes out into the.
- 53:46Lobby, Yeah. And they they have to reset
- 53:48everything because they had thought Robbie and Darla were
- 53:50the killers. Yeah.
- 53:51So GAIL goes out to take care of business, and then she comes
- 53:55back in through the doors being stabbed.
- 53:58She's dead. I don't like that.
- 54:00I'm sad. Then the power goes out and
- 54:04Winnie finds a camera like a flash camera and she's using the
- 54:07flash to see what's happening. And in the flashes we see Robbie
- 54:11and Darla both get murdered. Rob Burnie goes and she gets the
- 54:17lights on again and Winnie is like running through the theater
- 54:19and when she's on the stairs she ends up stabbing the Angel slash
- 54:23David. And so her and her and Bernie,
- 54:26they walked to the pier. It's time for another unmasking
- 54:30though cuz we gotta check to see who the killer is again this
- 54:34time and it is dad. So dad is dead.
- 54:37So Bernie tells Wendy that this is This would have been her last
- 54:44Christmas, but spending it with her and feeling like she
- 54:48mattered made such a big difference.
- 54:49Which is, it's heavy, but it's also such a real thing.
- 54:57And I like the way the movie approached this, and especially
- 55:01with when you saying, hey, you matter, you're important, and
- 55:05you need to hang on. Yeah, yeah, it was, it was a
- 55:08deep moment and I'm glad that they were able to have that
- 55:11moment together. But as they're having that
- 55:13moment, they can hear Henry over speakers doing his naughty or
- 55:17nice event. Yes, so Winnie, she asked for
- 55:21her life back and it doesn't happen.
- 55:23So she's like, I know what we got to do.
- 55:25So they go over to the event. Buck is on stage.
- 55:28He's being. Being he's getting his thing.
- 55:32Is he naughty or nice? He's been naughty.
- 55:35Yes, he put in for a transfer to another city.
- 55:37What's so wrong with that? Why does he have to stick?
- 55:40Because he's like a puppet. He's a puppet and also I'm
- 55:43pretty sure he's not in any way qualified to be a police
- 55:45officer. No, but most start.
- 55:49But I don't think he even went through police Academy or
- 55:51anything. Sheriff is an elected position.
- 55:54Yeah, but I think you still have to be a cop first, don't you?
- 55:58Dude, look at our fucking politics.
- 56:00That's true. You don't have to have any
- 56:02experience for Sheriff. Yeah, yeah.
- 56:05You just have to be related to our friends with the right
- 56:07person. So anyways, yeah, he is.
- 56:10Just like he stabs him on stage in front of.
- 56:12Everybody and nobody reacts. And Bernie and Winnie are like
- 56:17freaking out in the crowd. And he's like, let's bring these
- 56:20two, let's bring the Point and the outsider up on the stage.
- 56:23Yeah, come on. So they go up there and they
- 56:27confront Henry about him being the killer.
- 56:31Henry says something to the effect of, hi, Bernie, how's
- 56:35your mom doing? And when he's like, you're the
- 56:37reason that her dad left, she's like, you ruined her life.
- 56:41And they're kind of getting into a shouting match and a shoving
- 56:44match. And they push him into the
- 56:46crowd. And the crowd for a minute
- 56:47starts to converge on him. But then it seems like they lift
- 56:49him back up on the stage. He's a little banged up.
- 56:52I don't know what happened. There.
- 56:53Yeah, this again. This whole last few scenes are
- 56:58very hectic. It's weird, yeah.
- 57:01Yeah, so they end up they're kind of fighting.
- 57:05And when he ends up stabbing him and when he's stabbed, the group
- 57:11hypnosis ends and everybody is like out of his spell and
- 57:16they're all angry. And then guess what?
- 57:18The lights get really bright and Winnie and burning kiss right
- 57:21before Vade de Black. And Winnie wakes up back in her
- 57:25own universe and she goes downstairs.
- 57:28She's just so happy to see her family.
- 57:31They give her a new camera. My question is, when did they go
- 57:34and get that? Cause clearly they didn't have a
- 57:36thoughtful gift ready for her last night.
- 57:40So what all night store did they go and find this Fuji film for
- 57:43her? To be fair, she didn't get she
- 57:47got one present open. Maybe that was her Christmas Day
- 57:49present. Maybe.
- 57:52Because this is Christmas Day. I don't buy it.
- 57:54Maybe they were like, you know what, you're right.
- 57:56We got him a fucking truck. Like, let's go get a camera.
- 57:59I feel like they drove to the next town over phone and all
- 58:01night like Walmart or something and they're like camera.
- 58:05What brand does she like? Who cares?
- 58:07Let's get this. One, do you know anything about
- 58:09cameras? No.
- 58:09What's Just give me a camera. Yeah, OK.
- 58:12It's probably a on. The cheaper side, if you can, we
- 58:14just bought her some trucks so we've it's that was expensive.
- 58:17Make it look bad, yeah. Yeah, So she apologizes for her
- 58:24reaction. And they're like, no, we're
- 58:25sorry that we haven't let you heal.
- 58:28And they're about to start opening presents.
- 58:30And then she remembers Bernie, and she remembers what Bernie
- 58:33was going to do in the other timeline.
- 58:35And she's worried that this timelines Bernie is in the same
- 58:38kind of situation. So she runs over to her house.
- 58:41On the way, she runs into Robbie and Darla, and they're like.
- 58:44And she goes, no, you guys are cute together.
- 58:45You want together. Bye.
- 58:47And she keeps running. She gets to Bernie's house, and
- 58:49Bernie opens the door and she's, like, staring at her and she's,
- 58:53what are you doing here? And then when he's like, please,
- 58:55Bernie, you matter. And then Bernie smiles, and she
- 58:57goes, You remember? So, Twist, they were both
- 59:00transported to that other timeline and both needed to get
- 59:04back. So they were each other's George
- 59:05Bailey's and clearances. They were both George Bailey and
- 59:08they were both clearance. Yeah.
- 59:10So weird, confusing, yeah. Was it the Bernie from that
- 59:15universe that got brought over? Or was that Bernie from the
- 59:17original universe also? Like she just brought that
- 59:21Bernie with her. Yeah, I'm not entirely sure,
- 59:24because in clearly in the other universe, everybody knew who
- 59:26Bernie was. So what was the other Bernie?
- 59:28Did they spot Bernie's that Bernie's probably miserable over
- 59:32in the other universe? Was this weekend at Bernie's?
- 59:35Was this Bernie's weekend? We'll never know.
- 59:39We won't. I don't think so.
- 59:40Maybe that's our sequel, Weekend at Bernie's.
- 59:43We're gonna Bernie's. 3. Yeah.
- 59:45Just probably a third one maybe. Yeah, whatever.
- 59:48That's the end of the movie. Yeah, They're together.
- 59:51Yeah. Yeah.
- 59:53All right. I still think it's a sweet
- 59:55movie. I think it's funny, I think it's
- 59:57a fun slasher, and I'm gonna keep it in an 8.
- 59:59I'll give it a seven. OK?
- 1:00:00Yeah, it was a good movie. So our ending average is 7.5.
- 1:00:05No calm Talia. She was.
- 1:00:08She was pretty sleepy. Wait, shouldn't we do changes
- 1:00:10first? Yeah.
- 1:00:11What changes would you make? Sorry.
- 1:00:13Well, I would change the ending. I mean, like how it all just
- 1:00:16wraps up. It was just kind of bullshit.
- 1:00:19I don't know, like it's you can this movie, like it had like a
- 1:00:24small ass, like just accept that time travel will happen and that
- 1:00:28that's cool, you know, and then like, we'll make everything else
- 1:00:31grounded. But hold on.
- 1:00:32We're just going to do some of this.
- 1:00:34Yeah, We're we don't know what else to do, so let's just do
- 1:00:37this. It's sloppy.
- 1:00:39Yeah, It's just it wasn't an effective way to close out the
- 1:00:43whole thing. I don't know he it could have
- 1:00:45been a completely better ending. It just I like when she goes
- 1:00:49back to the timeline and things are good there.
- 1:00:51That was a good way. But just the build up, the third
- 1:00:54act, the finale, just. Yeah, it didn't quite stick the
- 1:00:56landing. No, it it took one giant step
- 1:00:59out of bounds. Yeah, for sure.
- 1:01:01So OK, now what is how you think?
- 1:01:04Talia, honestly, like, she had been pretty active and tantrumy
- 1:01:08through the movie before this. And so when this movie started,
- 1:01:10she was pretty sleepy. Yeah.
- 1:01:12And she was like, I don't like time travel movie guys.
- 1:01:14They confuse me. How many Bernie's were there?
- 1:01:18I don't know what's going on. This makes me sad.
- 1:01:21Angels are supposed to be good. I am an Angel, for example, and
- 1:01:24I've never murdered anyone. So I think Talia was just kind
- 1:01:27of like mid on this movie. Yeah, she's like, is that
- 1:01:30Ghostface? I think that's Ghostface.
- 1:01:32So I think she'd give this a 6.5 because she your initial rating.
- 1:01:366.5 is not being mid on a movie that's being like that's a good
- 1:01:40movie out of time. 6 is good. It's mid. 5 is mid.
- 1:01:46Whatever Zoe, who is her ultimate warrior?
- 1:01:50Zoe's ultimate warrior. I Buck because of, like, how he
- 1:01:57handled the crime scene. Like, you know, get tape around
- 1:02:01here. Yeah, like, give me a dog over
- 1:02:02here too. Like, let's play, you know,
- 1:02:04make. This interesting?
- 1:02:05Yeah, OK, I like that. That's a that's a solid warrior.
- 1:02:08OK, But now that we know who's Zoe related to, who did you
- 1:02:13relate to? If you have yours ready, feel
- 1:02:15free to go because I'm gonna think on.
- 1:02:17It I'm GAIL. I am the sarcastic aunt.
- 1:02:20That's me. That's my role in life.
- 1:02:22I've accepted it. That's fair.
- 1:02:24OK, I'll relate to Buck for wanting the good vibes.
- 1:02:30If I were like a sheriff and I had that ability, I'd have
- 1:02:34canines on all crime scenes. It doesn't matter what it is.
- 1:02:37I just want like dogs there. As you're like, they're sniffing
- 1:02:40around, like you're scratching them behind the ears.
- 1:02:42They're like, they're like, Sir, Sir, we're working.
- 1:02:45Yeah, yeah. Your job is to be my friend.
- 1:02:48I'd be Michael. Scratching them.
- 1:02:51The great thing about coworkers is that they're built in fronts.
- 1:02:53Yeah, and that's why the canine unit comes to every crime scene.
- 1:02:58All right, cool. Well, that's that's got that so.
- 1:03:01All right, dream sequel. Yeah, Dream sequel.
- 1:03:05OK. So we cut to the next Christmas.
- 1:03:08We catch up with them. Maybe this time the Angel killer
- 1:03:12is Buck and he's trying to get revenge, but he's not very good
- 1:03:15at it. Do you think that they so like
- 1:03:17will again stick with the theme of revealing the killer?
- 1:03:20Yes, because I think what's going to happen is he's not
- 1:03:22going to be very good at it, and he's going to be sitting in the
- 1:03:25jail cell and he's going to be sad how he should have never
- 1:03:28been born. And then he looks outside the
- 1:03:30jail cell window, and there's the Aurora borealis.
- 1:03:32Who's the vengeful soul in that situation?
- 1:03:35He like he killed one person. That's God damn it.
- 1:03:38I actually got killed by this guy.
- 1:03:39It's him, Yeah, yes, I like that.
- 1:03:41The 1st of this area and I was like this Buck Buck.
- 1:03:44Buck is it's Winnie. Like Buck is the one that killed
- 1:03:48me. So then like he's transported to
- 1:03:51a reality with Winnie. Yeah, I like that.
- 1:03:53Yeah, it. Could be fun.
- 1:03:54Yeah. OK, cool.
- 1:03:55Let's do that. That's fun.
- 1:04:00OK, tagline. Tagline Hark, the Herald Angel
- 1:04:05screams. I was gonna say angels we have
- 1:04:08heard on high rises because this guy's all about building
- 1:04:15developments. I like yours, that's a good one.
- 1:04:18OK, OK, OK, cool. Then they're also like putting
- 1:04:21this Angel on top of everything in this town.
- 1:04:23Yeah, right. You got a review for us?
- 1:04:25I do have a review for us and I knew that we were both pretty
- 1:04:28positive about it cuz I remember us enjoying it when we saw it in
- 1:04:31theaters last year. So I found a negative review and
- 1:04:36it says. Wow, great review.
- 1:04:39Do you? Want to know how they spell that
- 1:04:42phonetically? Is that how you pronounce career
- 1:04:46of this? The first one of these types of
- 1:04:50films to get it badly wrong. I've been really enjoying this
- 1:04:53horror trend lately of a whodunit slasher with a creative
- 1:04:56twist. Every one of them I've seen so
- 1:04:57far has been really enjoyable so I had high hopes for It's a
- 1:05:00Wonderful Knife. Sadly this was the first one to
- 1:05:02get it wrong in my opinion. I'd hoped for a really clever
- 1:05:05story where the search for the identity of the killer would
- 1:05:07coincide with the main character doing her alternative universe
- 1:05:10thing. This was not really the case.
- 1:05:13It's a very mucky story and often unclear what exactly is
- 1:05:16happening and what the characters motives are.
- 1:05:18It was not the story I wanted to see.
- 1:05:20The other big problem is that the characters were not likeable
- 1:05:23enough. All the other films like this
- 1:05:25have had really likeable characters, particularly in the
- 1:05:28lead role, and it's really easy to get behind them and follow
- 1:05:30their journey. That was not the case here.
- 1:05:32This film goes for some laughs but is really funny.
- 1:05:35The killer is kind of menacing that the characters are so flat
- 1:05:37and unfleshed out that it sucks a lot of the tension out of the
- 1:05:40kills. So the film is also really
- 1:05:42scary. None of the characters ever seem
- 1:05:44to have proper emotional reaction to the things that
- 1:05:46happen either. All in all the films, one was a
- 1:05:48disappointment. 4 out of 10. You know, I'll give them some
- 1:05:53credit like I they aren't the most fleshed out characters.
- 1:05:57I feel like cartoon you're not to be a movie Secret Santa maybe
- 1:06:00fleshed out their characters better than this thing to, you
- 1:06:04know. Yeah, like.
- 1:06:07There's no mystery really for this movie either.
- 1:06:10So much of Winnie's character is grief, yeah, that we don't get a
- 1:06:15sense of her as a person. Like, she seems really cute and
- 1:06:17joyful at the beginning, but everything happens to her so
- 1:06:21quickly that most of her character is that she is sad and
- 1:06:24she is angry, which is very warranted.
- 1:06:26But we didn't get enough time with like, the happy Winnie to
- 1:06:28really enjoy that contrast. We don't get a good baseline.
- 1:06:31Yeah, that's yeah, you're right. Because it's just that all the
- 1:06:34way through. And then when she's like super
- 1:06:36happy at the end of the movie, you know, it's like, I don't
- 1:06:39know, what were you like normal? Yeah.
- 1:06:41On a good day, yeah, 'cause like, even when she like, has an
- 1:06:43interaction with her friend, it's her friend, like having a
- 1:06:47crisis moment about somebody trying to buy their house.
- 1:06:49You know she doesn't have like a normal moment.
- 1:06:51Yeah. Like when you think to It's a
- 1:06:52wonderful life, you go with George Bailey throughout his
- 1:06:55life a little bit longer first before everything goes downhill.
- 1:06:59And so we understand why this is a crisis moment for him.
- 1:07:02And then when we see what the life would be like without him,
- 1:07:05we've had a sense of his family and friends, and we don't get
- 1:07:08that same example here. Yeah, I don't understand why she
- 1:07:14I think in his to be fair, I've never seen that movie, but I've
- 1:07:17got I got enough of an understanding he had like a
- 1:07:19better reason to be like nobody would probably wants me around
- 1:07:22here. So he had a really.
- 1:07:23Bad day and screwed up a lot of things and it was very much a
- 1:07:31permanent reaction to a temporary feeling type of thing.
- 1:07:34Same with her I guess. Yeah, like, Oh, my dad got a
- 1:07:38truck for my brother in a tracksuit for me, and my
- 1:07:40boyfriend's cheating on me. Except she wasn't gonna jump off
- 1:07:43the pier, is the thing. Like she's just looking up at.
- 1:07:46Yeah, like she's looking up at the sky.
- 1:07:47And she was sad and said, man, the world would be better off
- 1:07:51without me. And the universe was like fuck
- 1:07:53you. OK, bet.
- 1:07:55Let's give that a shot. Yeah, it's not bad.
- 1:08:01No, they didn't. Like, they didn't do a terrible
- 1:08:03job with the characters. So like, everybody's like, fun
- 1:08:06enough. And like, she's got a relatable
- 1:08:08enough story with like the whole like she's got like layers to
- 1:08:12her sadness, like being rejected from school and stuff too.
- 1:08:15You can reject, you can relate to what she's going through, and
- 1:08:17you do get to see her grow through all of this.
- 1:08:20So you're going on a journey with her and you're also getting
- 1:08:23to know Bernie along the way. And I think it's all really
- 1:08:25nice. So I don't agree with the part
- 1:08:28about her not being likable or somebody that you want to root
- 1:08:30for. I just feel like her growth
- 1:08:32didn't really matter much to the actual story.
- 1:08:34Like, it happened, but it wasn't the point to her getting out of
- 1:08:37there. Like, really, she just had to
- 1:08:39kill the guy. Yeah, that was really all it
- 1:08:41was, because she already had that revelation before she did
- 1:08:44that. And it wasn't enough.
- 1:08:46Yeah. OK, OK, well I guess let's check
- 1:08:50some more listener reviews. Almost threw my phone across the
- 1:08:53room. Check listener reviews or.
- 1:08:55No, yeah OK, let's see did anybody on Instagram say
- 1:09:02anything? No okay right.
- 1:09:04I got one on boots guy though. All right so Ward zombie says I
- 1:09:07love this horror take on a holiday classic.
- 1:09:09Good kills, wacky characters and ending is a real twist.
- 1:09:13Also, the killer design is pretty cool.
- 1:09:15The killer design is cool, although in some scenes the way
- 1:09:18the eyes are kind of like molded in.
- 1:09:20Do you remember when Snapchat had the face swap option?
- 1:09:22And sometimes she would swap them out and you'd see people
- 1:09:25swap their faces with their dogs noses?
- 1:09:27Oh God, yeah. And that's kind of what the mask
- 1:09:29would look like to me sometimes I can see.
- 1:09:31That yeah, I really do like the design of the killer.
- 1:09:33I mean it's very like Ghostface Ask, but it has enough going on
- 1:09:37to be it's own thing to stand out.
- 1:09:40Like the all why the mask is just like yeah.
- 1:09:42And I like the very hotel sensibility.
- 1:09:46Like you can bleach white, you know, So when he gets the blood
- 1:09:50on it, like, boom, bleach. Very good.
- 1:09:52Point OK, so all right, that was it.
- 1:09:55That's the only review we have for today.
- 1:09:57So thanks Zombie for being the sole contributor for today, and
- 1:10:00I'm glad that you liked it too. And if you didn't send a review
- 1:10:03because you didn't have time, that's totally cool.
- 1:10:06And we get that if you didn't send a review because you
- 1:10:08haven't seen the movie, it's a very, it's a fairly watchable
- 1:10:11movie if you've got Quick Shutter or AMC Plus or Hulu or
- 1:10:16Disney Plus Premium. Just check it.
- 1:10:18Yeah, check it out. It's 87 minutes and the time
- 1:10:22flies by. It's got a lot of really solid
- 1:10:24performances. I think it's a fun movie and
- 1:10:26it's worth a shot. Develop your own opinions on it.
- 1:10:29It's a good time. Yeah, for sure.
- 1:10:31All right, so we're moving on, moving on.
- 1:10:35Next week, Next week on the show, we're gonna be doing Cult
- 1:10:40of Chucky. We're gonna have a little change
- 1:10:42to our schedule because, well, we did schedule it for Terrifier
- 1:10:473 to be released after the DVD comes out.
- 1:10:50We didn't consider that we would need time to watch the DVD and
- 1:10:55special features and record the episode.
- 1:10:57It comes out two days before our schedule had us covering this
- 1:11:02movie, so yeah, we need more prep time for that.
- 1:11:05So we're flip flopping it. One more week after you have
- 1:11:08another week to watch Terrifier 3.
- 1:11:10So we'll do Colt of Chucky next week and then we'll do Terrifier
- 1:11:133 the week after. Yeah.
- 1:11:15So that is our current plan. And Cult of Chucky, that's a fun
- 1:11:19one. I personally really like it and
- 1:11:21I'm excited to talk about it. Right now.
- 1:11:24You can. It's rental only.
- 1:11:26Is it not even on shutter anymore?
- 1:11:27And it's not. Well, it might.
- 1:11:29Be on every shutter. Check and see if it's on Twitter
- 1:11:32Real. Quick, you need to just
- 1:11:33download. Just watch dude.
- 1:11:34The more you tell me to do that, the more I'm not gonna download.
- 1:11:36It well then you're not getting accurate information.
- 1:11:39You're not getting accurate information.
- 1:11:40You can rent it from YouTube, Google Play, Fandango at home,
- 1:11:43or Amazon Prime. OK.
- 1:11:47It's not streaming anywhere so it is rental only.
- 1:11:52Yeah, so, but it's $4.00. I think it's worth the $4.00
- 1:11:55rental personally. It's a fun movie and it's gotta
- 1:12:00be very, very important if you choose to watch the TV series.
- 1:12:05Yeah, oh, why it hinges on that. Yeah, the TV series makes no
- 1:12:09sense if you haven't watched Cult of Chucky.
- 1:12:11Yeah, so we'll be talking about that.
- 1:12:14We're very excited about it. And then we'll see you around
- 1:12:18Christmas time at Terrifier 3. Yeah.
