- 0:17Speaker 1: with Albert Bouchard. He is one of the founding members
- 0:20Speaker 1: of a band called Blue Oyster Cult. Everybody knows and
- 0:22Speaker 1: loves them. They're actually going to be, the band will,
- 0:25Speaker 1: be at Grand Falls Casino and Golf Resort Saturday, November 7th. Now,
- 0:29Speaker 1: Albert is not going to be here with the band,
- 0:31Speaker 1: but he has been working his tail off in the studio,
- 0:34Speaker 1: putting out a bunch of new music. Tell us about
- 0:36Speaker 1: some of this new music.
- 0:37Speaker 2: So this is a continuation of a series called of
- 0:43Speaker 2: records that I, I did before, you know, the three, three, uh,
- 0:47Speaker 2: the three acts of, uh, the imagino series. And, uh,
- 0:52Speaker 2: this is new material, all new material that, uh, was
- 0:57Speaker 2: discovered in, uh, 2024, uh, in Sandy's house when they
- 1:02Speaker 2: were selling, selling it. And, uh, so I saw these
- 1:07Speaker 2: signs and I said, Oh, gee, I, These all fit
- 1:10Speaker 2: in the Imaginose concept. You know, a lot of them,
- 1:14Speaker 2: you know, that Sandy had planned on doing something. And,
- 1:18Speaker 2: of course, when the first record, you know, that came
- 1:21Speaker 2: out as a Blue Oyster Cult record, it didn't do
- 1:24Speaker 2: that well. We both kind of gave up on the
- 1:28Speaker 2: idea of it. But then, you know, after he died,
- 1:30Speaker 2: I told him when I visited him in the hospital
- 1:35Speaker 2: that He was still alive, and I said, I'm going
- 1:38Speaker 2: to do this for you. He seemed to be very
- 1:42Speaker 2: appreciative of that. But then it took me a while
- 1:45Speaker 2: to get it together. But in 2020, during the lockdown,
- 1:51Speaker 2: I did the first record, and it turned out great.
- 1:53Speaker 2: So I said, I'm going to do them all.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Well, I think this is fascinating. The project is finally
- 1:58Speaker 1: coming to a close. But when did you start on this?
- 2:00Speaker 1: It sounds like you started on this a while ago.
- 2:03Speaker 2: It started in 1967, like, you know, within a month
- 2:07Speaker 2: or so of me meeting Sandy. He started talking about
- 2:11Speaker 2: this concept of Imaginos. And within a few months of that,
- 2:19Speaker 2: he presented us with a few songs. One of them
- 2:22Speaker 2: was called Blue Oyster Coke. and so, uh, and this
- 2:27Speaker 2: is when we were still the soft right underbelly. So, uh,
- 2:31Speaker 2: you know, uh, when it came time to sign the
- 2:34Speaker 2: Columbia contract, uh, you know, uh, two years later, uh,
- 2:40Speaker 2: he said, ah, you should call it blue. I should
- 2:42Speaker 2: call it. And we're like, what? That's the craziest name.
- 2:47Speaker 2: He said, that's why it'd be great. You know, if
- 2:49Speaker 2: you had to sell it to us, we were not convinced, but, uh,
- 2:53Speaker 2: We had to sign the contract that day, so we
- 2:55Speaker 2: had to make a decision. We said, okay, we'll use
- 2:59Speaker 2: that name. But it started before Blue Oyster Cult was.
- 3:04Speaker 1: I love that. I didn't realize that wasn't the original name.
- 3:07Speaker 1: What was the original name going to be again?
- 3:10Speaker 2: Soft White Underbelly.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Well, I think that would have been a fine name
- 3:14Speaker 1: as well. But boy, I got to just tell you,
- 3:15Speaker 1: there's something special about the name Blue Oyster Cult. It's
- 3:18Speaker 1: just a perfect name.
- 3:20Speaker 2: It worked out. It totally worked out, yeah.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Now, Blue Oyster Cult has been very popular for many,
- 3:25Speaker 1: many years, but you were introduced to another generation because
- 3:28Speaker 1: of a skit on Saturday Night Live. I thought it
- 3:31Speaker 1: was really, really funny. Did you guys find the humor
- 3:33Speaker 1: in it as well in the band?
- 3:34Speaker 2: I have seen it maybe a hundred times, and each
- 3:37Speaker 2: time I laugh, I think it's magic. It's one of
- 3:41Speaker 2: those things that you just can't You know, they didn't
- 3:44Speaker 2: know that it was going to be that popular. You know,
- 3:47Speaker 2: they were just trying to fill up the time, you know.
- 3:51Speaker 2: And I know that Will Ferrell had written it, and
- 3:57Speaker 2: they turned him down twice. You know, Lorne Michaels was like, no,
- 4:00Speaker 2: this doesn't work. And then when Christopher Walken was going
- 4:06Speaker 2: to be the host... Christopher Walken read it at the
- 4:09Speaker 2: table reading, and they said, oh, this could work. Okay,
- 4:14Speaker 2: let's give it a try. So, and it turned out
- 4:17Speaker 2: to be great. I mean, I think that they, because
- 4:21Speaker 2: they didn't quite know what they were doing, they were improvising,
- 4:25Speaker 2: you know, when they were doing it. That's one of
- 4:27Speaker 2: the reasons why it's so great.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Well, I'm so glad to hear that you guys liked
- 4:33Speaker 1: it as well, because I thought it was so funny,
- 4:35Speaker 1: and I was hoping that I was going to hear
- 4:37Speaker 1: that you liked it, because it exposed your music to
- 4:40Speaker 1: a whole new generation who wants to hear more Cowbell.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Absolutely, absolutely.
- 4:45Speaker 1: We are excited to have Blue Oyster Cult at Grand
- 4:47Speaker 1: Falls in November, and where can I go to listen
- 4:49Speaker 1: to this new music that you're putting out right now?
- 4:51Speaker 2: Well, you can go to Apple Music. That's what I have,
- 4:54Speaker 2: but it's also on Spotify and, you know, whatever... streaming
- 4:59Speaker 2: service you can hear it right away if you want
- 5:01Speaker 2: physical product you have to go to Deco Entertainment and
- 5:06Speaker 2: they have they have vinyl they have CDs and they
- 5:12Speaker 2: have downloads so all of that well.

- 5:17Speaker 1: easy to find I'll put it on our Facebook page
