- 0:03Speaker 1: It is an odd inference. In the Book of Acts,
- 0:06Speaker 1: when Christ speaks, the word is translated passion to indicate
- 0:11Speaker 1: that when he looks at the cross, he sees love
- 0:14Speaker 1: and passion where we see only pain. Most of us
- 0:17Speaker 1: who have lived very long know that the two are interchangeable,
- 0:20Speaker 1: that passion always has its pain. But we don't think
- 0:24Speaker 1: in such graphic dimensions as blood streaming down our side
- 0:28Speaker 1: or from the oozing parts of our body, as we
- 0:31Speaker 1: have been desecrated and beaten and ostracized by men. But
- 0:35Speaker 1: it just speaks to what a level of love God
- 0:38Speaker 1: operates on, that he is the lover of our soul,
- 0:41Speaker 1: that he loves us on such an intense level that
- 0:44Speaker 1: when God thought to give his life to his bride,
- 0:47Speaker 1: he gave his life on the cross. It was his
- 0:50Speaker 1: way of giving himself to us that we might consummate
- 0:54Speaker 1: the covenant and enter into a relationship with Him that
- 0:56Speaker 1: we have never had before. I look at the cross
- 0:58Speaker 1: and I see pain. What God wanted to say to us,
- 1:02Speaker 1: is not God so endured pain, God so endured horror. No,
- 1:07Speaker 1: God so loved the world that he gave so he
- 1:11Speaker 1: wants us to see the cross and see love. He
- 1:14Speaker 1: calls it passion, but in the passion it's horrific. Pastern
