- 0:02Speaker 1: Hey, friends, we are back with you another OnCore episode
- 0:05Speaker 1: of Girls Gone Hallmark. This time it's the Love on
- 0:08Speaker 1: the Danube series of movies. These originally aired back in
- 0:12Speaker 1: fall of twenty twenty four on Hallmark Plus and that's
- 0:15Speaker 1: when we reviewed them, but we are re airing our
- 0:18Speaker 1: reviews in honor of their premiere on the Hallmark Channel. Enjoy.
- 0:25Speaker 1: This is a bramble Jam podcast. Welcome to Girls Gone Homewark,
- 0:46Speaker 1: a Hallmark review podcast. I'm Megan and I'm a longtime
- 0:49Speaker 1: Hallmark movie fan. I'm Wendy. I'm a former Hallmark hater.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Today we're discussing Love on the Danube Kissing Stars, which
- 0:56Speaker 1: is streaming exclusively on Hallmark Plus streaming platform. You can
- 1:01Speaker 1: hang out with us on the podcast is over. We
- 1:03Speaker 1: have two Instagram accounts, Girls Gone Hamemark for all things
- 1:07Speaker 1: Hallmark podcast related and Megan and Wendy for everything. But
- 1:18Speaker 1: you've all see one mention of Hallmark over there, well
- 1:20Speaker 1: maybe maybe every once in a while. Every once in
- 1:23Speaker 1: a while, hey, jump into our Hallmark Facebook group. It
- 1:27Speaker 1: is called Girls Gone Hallmark. We are rounding out near
- 1:33Speaker 1: like eight hundred people over there talking about Hallmark movies.
- 1:38Speaker 1: And if you're in that group, and you know a
- 1:40Speaker 1: Hallmark fan who might like that group, invite them to join.
- 1:43Speaker 1: I'd love to hit a thousand people in that group
- 1:45Speaker 1: by the end of twenty twenty five. Okay, Hey, you
- 1:49Speaker 1: can always email us at Girls Gone Hallmark atgmail dot
- 1:52Speaker 1: com with your thoughts on the podcast on these movies.
- 1:57Speaker 1: And I would like to share an email from listener
- 1:59Speaker 1: Paula and regards to love on the Danube Royal Getaway. Okay,
- 2:04Speaker 1: she says, I enjoyed the podcast, but I have one disagreement.
- 2:07Speaker 1: This is the first one where the prince didn't become
- 2:10Speaker 1: the king. Not much, but it's something. She also says,
- 2:15Speaker 1: now I feel bad I'm not going on the cruise.
- 2:17Speaker 1: I could be the single older lady that you could befriends. Oh,
- 2:21Speaker 1: little Catherine Dish, you should be our own personal Betty totally.
- 2:27Speaker 1: You know, I notoriously don't like the Royal movies, right,
- 2:31Speaker 1: I know you've seen a bunch. Do they do they?
- 2:35Speaker 1: Does the prince turn into the king? Usually or he's
- 2:38Speaker 1: in line. I think that's often the case. I don't
- 2:43Speaker 1: know that we've ever seen one where he's just like Noah, Man,
- 2:46Speaker 1: I'm gonna give it to my brother. That is a
- 2:48Speaker 1: nice point that he just kind of steps out of line,
- 2:52Speaker 1: goes against type. We have a handful of Hallmark News
- 2:55Speaker 1: and Notes items to share with you before we jump
- 2:58Speaker 1: into this episode. How I do, Tyler Hines told fans
- 3:03Speaker 1: on Saturday during a Instagram live which I admittedly watched.
- 3:09Speaker 1: He and his friend, photographer Joshua Schultz are putting at
- 3:13Speaker 1: a full color coffee table book which will feature two
- 3:17Speaker 1: hundred and thirty three images of Tyler Hines. To put
- 3:23Speaker 1: it on your Christmas list. Put it on your Christmas list.
- 3:26Speaker 1: It's available for pre order right now and it costs
- 3:28Speaker 1: sixty five dollars. I did watch the reel he posted
- 3:34Speaker 1: promoting the book, and the reel alone is beautifully produced.
- 3:40Speaker 1: So of course, look, you could publish two hundred and
- 3:44Speaker 1: thirty three Instagram photos of Tyler Hines and the people
- 3:48Speaker 1: would buy it. This is going to be a sellout,
- 3:51Speaker 1: you know. I got to say so. I was watching
- 3:53Speaker 1: his live and it was really quite sweet because he's like,
- 3:58Speaker 1: oh my gosh, seven hundred people, eight hundred people, nine
- 4:02Speaker 1: hundred people, one thousand people are watching this, and he's like,
- 4:05Speaker 1: this may incredibly uncomfortable, and like just going on and on,
- 4:10Speaker 1: and I was like, come on, you're like the biggest
- 4:12Speaker 1: star on the network. I'm like, are you really uncomfortable
- 4:15Speaker 1: jumping on in Rahm Live just to talk about like
- 4:19Speaker 1: what you got going on? But it was kind of sweet.
- 4:23Speaker 1: And then also he did make a mention about the
- 4:27Speaker 1: number of fake ounce claiming to be him or people
- 4:32Speaker 1: ohos uh huh. And he had made mention of like
- 4:36Speaker 1: the official like Facebook group and like shout it out,
- 4:40Speaker 1: like I think he said Donna Joe over who who
- 4:43Speaker 1: runs the group and like stays real on top of
- 4:46Speaker 1: it and tries to like, you know, weed out the fakies.
- 4:50Speaker 1: So that's a full time job over there. I can
- 4:53Speaker 1: only imagine. I can only imagine. But anyway, it was.
- 4:57Speaker 1: It was kind of cute and I can't believe that
- 4:59Speaker 1: I watch I did. I saw the replay and I
- 5:05Speaker 1: did watch a little bit of it. He's just very natural,
- 5:08Speaker 1: and I think your point about him being charmed by
- 5:12Speaker 1: like the audience, I do get the impression that either
- 5:15Speaker 1: he's a spectacular actor or he is just kind of
- 5:18Speaker 1: a genuine dude who's not super affected by the fame
- 5:22Speaker 1: of it all, Like he can enjoy it. For what
- 5:25Speaker 1: it is. That is such a good point considering the
- 5:29Speaker 1: movie we're gonna review. Oh yeah, tie in, I have
- 5:35Speaker 1: some thoughts about that topic in particular when we get
- 5:39Speaker 1: to our review, but I agree. I hope he's just
- 5:42Speaker 1: like this good dude. Well, we'll find out in about
- 5:45Speaker 1: one month here. Last week we mentioned actress Bethany Joy
- 5:50Speaker 1: Lenz has a memoir coming out. It comes out on
- 5:52Speaker 1: October twenty second and is called Dinner for Vampires Life
- 5:56Speaker 1: on a Cult TV Show. I do think there's like
- 5:59Speaker 1: a little bit of a play on words there, right,
- 6:02Speaker 1: because wasn't she herself also in a cult for ten years? Yes,
- 6:08Speaker 1: you read the article on heavy dot com when I
- 6:12Speaker 1: was putting these notes together. Yes, I think it's a
- 6:14Speaker 1: play on words. It's but yes, she was involved in
- 6:16Speaker 1: some sort of religious cult during Well. Apparently it is
- 6:20Speaker 1: getting good early reviews and is on the New York
- 6:23Speaker 1: Times list of books to read this fall. I gotta say,
- 6:27Speaker 1: I'm kind of interested in reading too, You kind of interested?
- 6:32Speaker 1: I mean, I hope's like she spills the tea, but
- 6:34Speaker 1: like I doubt it, I doubt it, I bet it.
- 6:37Speaker 1: I hope she does tell me everything, tell me about
- 6:39Speaker 1: the cult. Tell me about your co stars and all
- 6:43Speaker 1: the juicy tales there are to tell They're right. Okay,
- 6:48Speaker 1: you read you read this next note because I know
- 6:50Speaker 1: you're gonna know how to say this guy's name, and
- 6:52Speaker 1: I know you have like a personal connection. Well, Drake Hodgson,
- 6:56Speaker 1: who if you are a Days of our Lives san
- 6:59Speaker 1: is one John Black. He did pass over the weekend
- 7:04Speaker 1: after our battle with pancreatic cancer. Alie Sweeney wrote a
- 7:08Speaker 1: message about it was very touching. There were a number
- 7:11Speaker 1: of members of the Day's community who came out. I
- 7:13Speaker 1: have a very good friend who has worked for Days
- 7:16Speaker 1: of our Lives since we were in college. Like he
- 7:19Speaker 1: was an intern there. That was his first real job
- 7:22Speaker 1: and he's worked there ever since. And as soon as
- 7:24Speaker 1: I heard the news, well, I was sitting at a
- 7:27Speaker 1: baseball game with my husband and he gets a text
- 7:29Speaker 1: from a friend and he was like, oh no, and
- 7:32Speaker 1: I said what happened? He was It's John, and I
- 7:34Speaker 1: was like John, who he goes? John Black? Anyway, I
- 7:39Speaker 1: immediately sent a message to my friend and he mentioned
- 7:43Speaker 1: just how devastated they all were. So our thoughts are
- 7:46Speaker 1: with the Days of Our Lives community. That is a
- 7:49Speaker 1: big loss, so sad. He did appear in the twenty
- 7:54Speaker 1: twenty homework movie Christmas Tree Lane with Alicia Whitt and
- 7:57Speaker 1: Andrew Walker. I know I've seen the movie, but I
- 8:00Speaker 1: don't know if I recall that scene. All right, Let's
- 8:05Speaker 1: talk Love on the Danube Kissing Stars with a synopsis. Savannah,
- 8:10Speaker 1: a publicist reluctantly works with Tripp, a celebrity who is
- 8:16Speaker 1: having trouble connecting with his fans, aboard a cruise promoting
- 8:20Speaker 1: his latest film, Sar Sarah Power and Brendan Penny. Peter
- 8:26Speaker 1: Benson directed Love on the Danube Kissing Stars. Peter Benson
- 8:29Speaker 1: is busy as both an actor and director, with one
- 8:32Speaker 1: hundred seventy acting credits and seventeen directing credits. His other
- 8:36Speaker 1: directorial projects include recently Blind Date, Book Club, The Santas Stakeout,
- 8:42Speaker 1: Sweet Carolina, and The Wedding Veil Expectations. Agnes Bristow and
- 8:49Speaker 1: Andrea Canning wrote the script for Kissing Stars. Agnes Bristow
- 8:54Speaker 1: has produced thirty one movies and has written eight, including
- 8:57Speaker 1: the upcoming My Sweet Austrian Holiday starring daughter Britney Bristow
- 9:03Speaker 1: and Will Kemp. Andrea Canning has twenty five writing credits,
- 9:07Speaker 1: including the Love Song installment of Love on the Danube.
- 9:10Speaker 1: Her additional credits include A Merry Scottish Christmas, A Paris Proposal,
- 9:15Speaker 1: and South Beach Love. Sarah Powers stars as Savannah. Sarah
- 9:21Speaker 1: has thirty acting credits, including her role as Abigail on
- 9:23Speaker 1: the Goodwitch series. She reunites with Goodwitch co star Katherine
- 9:27Speaker 1: Disher in this installment of Love on the Danube. I
- 9:30Speaker 1: gotta tell you, I was like, I'm familiar with Sarah Power.
- 9:33Speaker 1: I don't think we've ever reviewed a movie with her,
- 9:36Speaker 1: So I went back through her IMDb and the last
- 9:39Speaker 1: movie I actually did watch with her, and it was
- 9:42Speaker 1: My Italian Christmas Memories, Yes, which we did not review
- 9:46Speaker 1: for the podcast, but it was so good. It was
- 9:49Speaker 1: so good. It was such a good movie. So now
- 9:52Speaker 1: I can put the name in the faces together because
- 9:55Speaker 1: I can't remember where Penny plays trip. This Mark's Brendan's
- 10:00Speaker 1: fifty ninth acting credit. We've seen Brennan in The Wedding, Cottage,
- 10:05Speaker 1: Family Practice, Mysteries in Mary Measure and Beverly Hill's Wedding.
- 10:10Speaker 1: Brennan stars in the upcoming a novel Noel, along with
- 10:13Speaker 1: Julie Gan in the Miracles of Christmas lineup once again.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Catherine Disher, Catherine Drysdale and Mark Holden return as Betty,
- 10:22Speaker 1: Teddy and the Captain Betty and Teddy. Gerald Kid plays
- 10:28Speaker 1: Rex Callahan. Jerald fifty seven acting credits include a long
- 10:32Speaker 1: running role in the series Casualty, as well as one
- 10:36Speaker 1: season thriller called Person's Unknown. Although this appears to be
- 10:40Speaker 1: his mark performance, he did appear in The Sister Bonifaces,
- 10:44Speaker 1: available to stream on BritBox. Katie Sheridan plays Ailah. We
- 10:49Speaker 1: last saw Katie on Hallmark in twenty twenty two in
- 10:51Speaker 1: The Royal Nanny. Since then, she has appeared in Frankenstein Legacy,
- 10:55Speaker 1: The Jury, Murder Trial and Bogieville. Johnny Welde plays Master
- 11:00Speaker 1: of Ceremonies Liam. Among his eighteen acting credits includes a
- 11:06Speaker 1: role in the Netflix series One Day, the Amazon Prime
- 11:10Speaker 1: movie People We Hate at the Wedding, and the Netflix
- 11:13Speaker 1: holiday movie Christmas at Mistletoe Farm. What was your first
- 11:17Speaker 1: impression of kissing stars? Well, three movies later, I'm convinced
- 11:22Speaker 1: this should be a one hour series. Oh, my first
- 11:29Speaker 1: impression is we did not get more boat stuff as
- 11:31Speaker 1: we had once wished. We did not. We did get
- 11:37Speaker 1: a lot of like boat branding in this movie, though, yes,
- 11:43Speaker 1: I noticed that lot lots lot thoughts. All right, let's
- 11:47Speaker 1: talk about what we liked about Kissing Stars. First of all,
- 11:51Speaker 1: I thought this was fun on a personal level. With
- 11:55Speaker 1: the Hallmark cruise looming about five weeks away, it feels
- 11:58Speaker 1: like the storyline can't be accidental in that regard. Obviously,
- 12:03Speaker 1: just to me, it seems like it's betta be inspired
- 12:06Speaker 1: by Don't you think? I do think so. However, my
- 12:11Speaker 1: favorite thing about this particular movie, and quite frankly the
- 12:15Speaker 1: trilogy of movies together, is the character of Betty. I
- 12:20Speaker 1: think Catherine Disher gives such a warm performance in this movie.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Particularly loved the way she reconnects with Rex, who's a
- 12:28Speaker 1: total Wowi's awie, and I think it gives us a
- 12:31Speaker 1: much richer look at her character and her past, and
- 12:35Speaker 1: so rather than being a supporting character, her story gets
- 12:39Speaker 1: rounded out in this moment, we get to root for
- 12:42Speaker 1: Betty instead of Betty being the cheerleader for love that
- 12:46Speaker 1: she has been in the past few movies. Yeah, I agree,
- 12:50Speaker 1: she is a real standout. Of course, all three movies.
- 12:55Speaker 1: I did like that we kind of got like a
- 12:58Speaker 1: like you said, like a concluded storyline with her. Yes,
- 13:03Speaker 1: she's great, she's super great. She should be in more
- 13:06Speaker 1: homework stuff. Yeah, and I agree with you too, Like
- 13:10Speaker 1: I did think this the through line here with the convention,
- 13:15Speaker 1: the rom con convention was funny. It's very meta. Yeah,
- 13:20Speaker 1: and I do believe there's gotta be like it was
- 13:24Speaker 1: on purpose. It has to be. It's just funny. It
- 13:27Speaker 1: was just so funny. I was like, I can't believe
- 13:28Speaker 1: we're gonna be living that in the like the next
- 13:30Speaker 1: few weeks, right, And I just hope that the stars
- 13:34Speaker 1: don't act like Trip did. Yes, since it couldn't be bothered.
- 13:39Speaker 1: Are there things you liked? Yeah, you touched on both
- 13:42Speaker 1: of mine, but I have one more. I did enjoy
- 13:45Speaker 1: Brendan Penny and Sarah Power. I thought Brendan Penny was great.
- 13:48Speaker 1: I like, I like him in most things. I thought
- 13:50Speaker 1: the pairing with Sarah Power was solid. I didn't I
- 13:55Speaker 1: didn't think if they were like it wasn't like explosive chemistry.
- 13:59Speaker 1: But yeah, you know, not hot and spicy. No, but
- 14:03Speaker 1: I did really like the bike riding scene. They're like
- 14:08Speaker 1: trying to get back to the boat and then they
- 14:10Speaker 1: take the bikes and it's like beautiful scenery and they're
- 14:12Speaker 1: like riding down like the shoreline or whatever. And then
- 14:16Speaker 1: they take a break and they share like how they
- 14:19Speaker 1: feel about each other. I was like, Oh, this is
- 14:21Speaker 1: so nice and refreshing. I like this. I'm like I
- 14:25Speaker 1: like that. Yeah, me too. I like that bike riding scene.
- 14:27Speaker 1: And she's like, oh, can we take a break. I'm like,
- 14:29Speaker 1: you don't look even a little bit tired, I know.
- 14:31Speaker 1: And honestly, I was like, how are these nott E bikes? Yes?
- 14:36Speaker 1: I was just gonna say the same thing. Are they
- 14:38Speaker 1: that electric? Could you not get a bird scooter in Budapest? Something? Something?
- 14:44Speaker 1: I mean, I would be more apt to reddit e
- 14:46Speaker 1: bike than like a real bike, you know, just for sure.
- 14:51Speaker 1: It's a long ride apparently, right, they're both really far away,
- 14:55Speaker 1: and I'm like, oh boy, anyway, I liked I like
- 14:58Speaker 1: that scene a lot. And actually in that scene and
- 15:00Speaker 1: I'm watching this and the way it was shot was
- 15:03Speaker 1: was really beautiful, and I thought, oh, this is why
- 15:07Speaker 1: people like Hallmark movies, because they're like dream I know,
- 15:13Speaker 1: five years later, you know, they're dreamy. Yes, can it
- 15:19Speaker 1: escape to it? Like they have these like perfect relationships
- 15:24Speaker 1: and these moments that you can't really access in real life.
- 15:29Speaker 1: I don't think, at least I don't. I think that's
- 15:32Speaker 1: a perfect summation of yes, why people come to Hallmark,
- 15:37Speaker 1: and kind of speaks to my thoughts on this collection
- 15:40Speaker 1: in general. I think overall these story movies, it does
- 15:44Speaker 1: say on the app they love in the Danube collection,
- 15:46Speaker 1: I do think there's certainly room for more of these movies.
- 15:50Speaker 1: I really like your idea of it being a one
- 15:53Speaker 1: hour series, which actually means like a forty four minute
- 15:56Speaker 1: episode series, because I think that's a little more interesting.
- 16:00Speaker 1: What I was trying to say is I think this
- 16:02Speaker 1: series was fine. Like watching it, I found them very
- 16:09Speaker 1: pleasant to watch and very easy to watch, and I
- 16:13Speaker 1: think it really does speak to being very classically Hallmarked,
- 16:19Speaker 1: with the beautiful setting, with the low stakes drama, the
- 16:23Speaker 1: tie in with some characters who we could root for.
- 16:26Speaker 1: I think these were solid, if not earth shattering. So
- 16:31Speaker 1: it's funny when I look at the collection as a whole,
- 16:34Speaker 1: the three movies, I like the first one the best
- 16:37Speaker 1: out of all of them, I think, But when I say,
- 16:40Speaker 1: like they should be a series instead, I can't help
- 16:45Speaker 1: but like harken back to the love boat, which was
- 16:47Speaker 1: mentioned in this particular movie. I think it would be
- 16:51Speaker 1: more interesting to get to like the brass tacks of
- 16:56Speaker 1: the story of the couple in forty four minutes rather
- 17:00Speaker 1: than it feels a little drawn out. For That's that
- 17:05Speaker 1: is why I'm drawn to the one hour format, because
- 17:08Speaker 1: I agree we don't necessarily particularly once this setup has
- 17:12Speaker 1: been made, like we get the whole boat situation. And
- 17:16Speaker 1: I think part of why this movie works for me
- 17:18Speaker 1: is because Betty's storyline was fleshed out a little bit more,
- 17:22Speaker 1: and so it gave us more to root for. But
- 17:25Speaker 1: I think, yes, one hour to get to the couples
- 17:28Speaker 1: and then we have a little bit It's like a
- 17:30Speaker 1: science seal delivered. Right, we could dig in more on
- 17:33Speaker 1: the relationships on the boat. If we're going to get
- 17:36Speaker 1: those characters week after week, we don't just have to
- 17:39Speaker 1: stick to them as like the captain and the cruise
- 17:41Speaker 1: director and them being like helping along the narration of
- 17:45Speaker 1: the love story. They can have their own storylines, right,
- 17:48Speaker 1: Teddy needs a love interest the cab right, the second
- 17:51Speaker 1: chance romance? You know it can, Yeah, And Teddy's love
- 17:55Speaker 1: interest is probably gonna have to be on board, because
- 17:57Speaker 1: she said, like, I'm too transitor to be in a
- 18:00Speaker 1: relationship with the job that I have right now. And
- 18:04Speaker 1: I think, like, first, okay, two thoughts. One, it doesn't
- 18:07Speaker 1: necessarily have to be forty four minutes either because it's
- 18:09Speaker 1: on streaming it they have a little more flexibility there.
- 18:12Speaker 1: It can it could be fifty two minutes, you know
- 18:16Speaker 1: what I mean, Like they don't have to break for
- 18:17Speaker 1: commercial if it's gonna stay streaming, you know how, some
- 18:21Speaker 1: like some Netflix shows will vary in their times, like
- 18:25Speaker 1: if an episodic series, for sure, it'll be like twenty
- 18:28Speaker 1: five minutes, twenty seven minutes, thirty one minutes. I think
- 18:31Speaker 1: the reason I noticed that The Chicken Sisters, for example,
- 18:33Speaker 1: is like set at like that forty four minute length.
- 18:36Speaker 1: And I think they Hallmark does it because they're like,
- 18:39Speaker 1: I got this other programming that I need to make
- 18:41Speaker 1: sure these are interchangeable when the time comes. But you're right,
- 18:45Speaker 1: they don't have to be, and then they could when
- 18:47Speaker 1: that time comes, edit out those six minutes, you know
- 18:49Speaker 1: what I mean. They make it work exactly, But I
- 18:53Speaker 1: also think it leaves the door open for so many
- 18:56Speaker 1: like Hallmark guest stars to come in and like we
- 19:01Speaker 1: mentioned before, like a mystery or like you know, like
- 19:04Speaker 1: different directors or whatever. I just I think there's something
- 19:08Speaker 1: to play with there. Yeah, I don't know if I
- 19:11Speaker 1: don't know if I would be like interested in watching
- 19:13Speaker 1: like another three movies in this I'm Daniel before we're
- 19:18Speaker 1: on the same page there. Speaking of Hallmark stars, can
- 19:21Speaker 1: we talk wishes? Sure? I think there's a real missed
- 19:25Speaker 1: opportunity to not have some Hallmark cameos on board the
- 19:30Speaker 1: ship totally. I was like, you got all these other
- 19:35Speaker 1: b plot stars who don't really have a lot going
- 19:39Speaker 1: on other than Rex. Why did we not have fake stars?
- 19:44Speaker 1: So there's got to be someone who's available, someone in
- 19:46Speaker 1: the area. Yeah, I think so, like there weren't there.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Didn't they shoot this all at one time together? I
- 19:53Speaker 1: don't you might be right, I don't know. I just
- 19:56Speaker 1: would have enjoyed the Easter egg. Yeah, that would have
- 19:59Speaker 1: been a good ey Yeah, like the Easter eag idea.
- 20:03Speaker 1: So you know what I was thinking, And this isn't
- 20:05Speaker 1: really a wish, It was just an observation and I'm
- 20:07Speaker 1: just gonna drop it here. I didn't really realize at
- 20:11Speaker 1: first how the male leads in all three of these
- 20:16Speaker 1: movies are like pretty big Hallmark stars, right, oh uh huh.
- 20:20Speaker 1: And it's like a male driven story. I would be
- 20:25Speaker 1: interested perhaps and seeing it flipped to being like, or
- 20:30Speaker 1: could we get a big female name attached to the
- 20:35Speaker 1: next collection of movies? Yeah, it is heavy on the
- 20:39Speaker 1: male leads, especially in the second and third movies. Yeah,
- 20:43Speaker 1: I have two more wishes. Okay, I'm back to Catherine Disher.
- 20:48Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I so for me, it was weird that, like,
- 20:53Speaker 1: she was not romantically involved with the Rex. But if
- 20:57Speaker 1: she was going to end up with anybody, I thought
- 20:59Speaker 1: it was Reynold from the second movie. Oh uh huh,
- 21:02Speaker 1: not this, not this actor dude who was just on
- 21:05Speaker 1: the cruise. I just I thought it was weird. Well,
- 21:08Speaker 1: does it make you happy that they don't end up together? Though, yes,
- 21:10Speaker 1: it does because I think she's destined for Reynolds, That's
- 21:14Speaker 1: why I yeah, I think it still leaves that open.
- 21:17Speaker 1: I think it was just a nice moment for her
- 21:19Speaker 1: to be seen, you know, ow he remembers that moment
- 21:22Speaker 1: that they had. I agree. I didn't feel like Rex
- 21:26Speaker 1: was endgame for Betty either. And then the other thing
- 21:29Speaker 1: is I was so pissed for Savannah when Trip denies
- 21:34Speaker 1: being in a relationship when he was questioned when he
- 21:37Speaker 1: was sitting on that panel, and if I remember correctly,
- 21:41Speaker 1: it was because he was worried about his like his
- 21:45Speaker 1: image as being a single leading man, right, uh huh,
- 21:49Speaker 1: therefore he can't be in an actual, real life relationship.
- 21:52Speaker 1: So then it made me wonder, like how Calmon is
- 21:55Speaker 1: that like for an actor to have to lead a
- 22:01Speaker 1: very private life because he doesn't want it to ruin
- 22:05Speaker 1: like his image as a you know, like a rom
- 22:08Speaker 1: com guy. I was thinking a lot about not only that,
- 22:13Speaker 1: could I be in a relationship with someone who doesn't
- 22:18Speaker 1: publicly acknowledge it. Like, on the one hand, it's like
- 22:20Speaker 1: I don't want everybody up in my business, you know,
- 22:23Speaker 1: I don't want to be subject to like paparazzi photos
- 22:26Speaker 1: because someone's interested in the person I'm dating. But at
- 22:28Speaker 1: the same time, I also don't want you to deny
- 22:30Speaker 1: that we're in a relationship. Yeah, so I would not
- 22:35Speaker 1: like that at all. I think it's fraught top to bottom.
- 22:40Speaker 1: But my ego could not handle like you not publicly
- 22:44Speaker 1: acknowledging me no, as a partner, forget about it. No,
- 22:48Speaker 1: no way. No, maybe you don't call this person by name,
- 22:52Speaker 1: but I it would have been perfectly acceptable to be like, oh, well,
- 22:55Speaker 1: there is someone in my life and it's new and
- 22:56Speaker 1: I'm just seeing where it's going, or something more eloquent
- 22:59Speaker 1: than that. You don't to be like that's her right there,
- 23:01Speaker 1: the love of my life after four days, but acknowledge it, Yeah,
- 23:06Speaker 1: exactly exactly. I was wondering, like, do our Hallmark stars
- 23:13Speaker 1: do this? Like? You know, the one I can think
- 23:16Speaker 1: of is like Tyler Hines, right, we know nothing about
- 23:18Speaker 1: this man's personal life, and is that on purpose because
- 23:23Speaker 1: he wants to convey this image, you know when he
- 23:26Speaker 1: makes these movies of like he's this hot single guy.
- 23:30Speaker 1: But part of me is like, dude, I mean give
- 23:34Speaker 1: and not that this is even his thought process at all,
- 23:38Speaker 1: but I was like, give your fans a little bit
- 23:40Speaker 1: of credit, Like I think we can understand or see
- 23:44Speaker 1: the difference between like a character and somebody's real life.
- 23:50Speaker 1: You know. Yeah, with Tyler, my close personal friend, I've
- 23:54Speaker 1: never really considered it to be like I want to
- 23:58Speaker 1: maintain this image is a hot single dude, as much
- 24:01Speaker 1: as I felt like I just want to keep something
- 24:06Speaker 1: for myself because the fans would be all over that.
- 24:12Speaker 1: I could understand me, like, I don't want people in
- 24:15Speaker 1: on this part of my life. Not because I want
- 24:17Speaker 1: you to think of me as like a hot, single
- 24:19Speaker 1: available dude so you can live out your Hallmark fantasies,
- 24:22Speaker 1: but like some things are just for me and not
- 24:25Speaker 1: for the fans. Sure for sure, Again, I probably wouldn't
- 24:29Speaker 1: be great at that either, though. Why am I not
- 24:31Speaker 1: in your Instagram feed bro? Because I'm sure he has
- 24:37Speaker 1: a like a public one and then like a what
- 24:41Speaker 1: are they called it a fensta or something? So sure
- 24:45Speaker 1: a spam account, you know. I think that's what my
- 24:48Speaker 1: kid calls it. Yes, I have too little wishes. Okay,
- 24:53Speaker 1: back to my first impression after your comments about not
- 24:59Speaker 1: getting enough boats to in the first two movies, it
- 25:01Speaker 1: was I was hyper aware of it. Watching this movie
- 25:04Speaker 1: and the extent to which they spend so little time
- 25:06Speaker 1: on the boat and have all of these cruise related
- 25:09Speaker 1: events off the boat, I thought was shocking. That's not
- 25:13Speaker 1: going to be the case with our cruise. Another small
- 25:17Speaker 1: thing is, as we mentioned, these are edited so that
- 25:22Speaker 1: they can be made into TV releases, and so the
- 25:26Speaker 1: commercial breaks are built in and this happens a lot.
- 25:31Speaker 1: I've seen this happen a lot. I haven't seen it
- 25:32Speaker 1: happen recently, but that one of the edits was really weird.
- 25:35Speaker 1: Trip and Savannah are having a conversation and they're walking
- 25:39Speaker 1: and he's talking about what she wants and she's like,
- 25:41Speaker 1: I want to be loved, I want to be happy,
- 25:43Speaker 1: and then cut to commercial. I was like, it's a
- 25:45Speaker 1: real awkward edit right there, Like there's no closure on
- 25:48Speaker 1: that moment. Yes, so it's weird. It happens a lot.
- 25:52Speaker 1: They're like, we don't know how to end this scene,
- 25:54Speaker 1: and we got a cut of a time there we go,
- 25:59Speaker 1: no big deal, ready for to see that? I am,
- 26:03Speaker 1: did you clock Hallmark Jenny in her Trip? Can we
- 26:07Speaker 1: get a Selphie cameo moment? Totally? She hadn't major cameos
- 26:12Speaker 1: that there was one. She was behind Catherine one time,
- 26:15Speaker 1: like waiting in line, and they showed her like up
- 26:19Speaker 1: close several times. Yes, like she had a line and everything.
- 26:23Speaker 1: That's really fun. I love that for her. Pretty cool, Yeah,
- 26:25Speaker 1: super fun. I was excited. I also loved that giant
- 26:30Speaker 1: Budapest Airports. I'm like, that looks cgi'ed on there. It
- 26:37Speaker 1: totally did. I was going to lie. I forgot, I
- 26:40Speaker 1: was going to look up like the Budapest airport. Yes,
- 26:45Speaker 1: I swear we've seen whatever building this is in many
- 26:49Speaker 1: other Hallmark movies used for the airport scene before, just
- 26:54Speaker 1: this like glass fronted building with along sidewalk for taxis
- 26:58Speaker 1: to be pulling up in front of many times. Yeah,
- 27:02Speaker 1: I mean, is that the smallest airport you've ever seen?
- 27:04Speaker 1: They're like, oh, crazy, let's use this doctor's office frontage
- 27:08Speaker 1: as our airport scene. At one point, Brendan's character is
- 27:13Speaker 1: wearing like those leader Hosen song or whatever. Oh uh huh.
- 27:19Speaker 1: I and I had like forgotten like he had the
- 27:22Speaker 1: socks on, and then I see him in this like
- 27:25Speaker 1: next scene and I thought he was wearing like compression
- 27:28Speaker 1: socks and I was like, oh, that's interesting. It was like,
- 27:31Speaker 1: no dummy, no dummy, it's part of the German costume here.
- 27:35Speaker 1: That is fun. I didn't hate it though. I thought
- 27:37Speaker 1: it was kind of cute. I didn't hate it either,
- 27:40Speaker 1: and I thought it was real light and funny. When
- 27:42Speaker 1: he does that dance with the dudes in the dear garden,
- 27:46Speaker 1: it was fine. I was cute. That was cute. What'd
- 27:48Speaker 1: you rate this movie? I gave it three point two
- 27:52Speaker 1: five stars. Oh that's more than I thought. I gave
- 27:55Speaker 1: it three. Well, I was looking back my last You know,
- 28:00Speaker 1: there's no rhyme and reason at all. I gave the
- 28:04Speaker 1: last one three and I didn't really like it, so
- 28:06Speaker 1: I was like, well, I have to give you this one,
- 28:08Speaker 1: oh a little bit, because I liked it better than
- 28:12Speaker 1: that one. So anyway, there we are. Well cool, thanks
- 28:17Speaker 1: for listening to this episode of Girls Gone Hamewark. That's
