- 0:16Speaker 1: Good morning, thank you for joining us today on our
- 0:18Speaker 1: Front Porch Friday edition. Hard to believe it's Friday already,
- 0:21Speaker 1: getting ready to go into the weekend. Hope you've had
- 0:24Speaker 1: a great week, and as we get ready for our
- 0:26Speaker 1: morning moments with Jesus here on our podcast, I want
- 0:29Speaker 1: to start off by reading in Galatians chapter 6 and
- 0:31Speaker 1: verse number 9 this morning. But also I've got a
- 0:35Speaker 1: short little letter, basically a comment from our YouTube channel
- 0:40Speaker 1: that I wanted to read this morning that might sound
- 0:42Speaker 1: a little familiar to all of us. But in Galatians
- 0:44Speaker 1: chapter 6 and verse number 9, the Apostle Paul encourages
- 0:49Speaker 1: not only the Galatians but us as well. When he says,
- 0:53Speaker 1: let us not be weary in well-doing. For in due
- 0:58Speaker 1: season we shall reap, if we faint not. And the
- 1:05Speaker 1: letter goes something like this today. Dear Eddie, I've been
- 1:08Speaker 1: trying to do what God has placed in front of me.
- 1:11Speaker 1: I check on my mother, I pray for my family,
- 1:14Speaker 1: and I try to encourage people whenever I can. But
- 1:18Speaker 1: lately I've wondered whether any of it is making a difference.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Nothing seems to change, and sometimes it feels like I'm
- 1:26Speaker 1: not appreciated. How do I keep going when the things
- 1:31Speaker 1: that I do feel so small? And like I said,
- 1:34Speaker 1: I think we've all kind of maybe crossed those bridges,
- 1:38Speaker 1: at least mentally, from time to time, even if we
- 1:41Speaker 1: don't speak them out loud. We tend to notice the
- 1:44Speaker 1: moments that are easy to see. Maybe it's an answered prayer.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Maybe it's a life that got changed that, you know,
- 1:52Speaker 1: you were a big part of that change. Maybe a
- 1:54Speaker 1: door that God opened that you knew was just at
- 1:57Speaker 1: the right time. Or someone actually says thank you and
- 2:01Speaker 1: shows their appreciation. That can be a big monumental thing
- 2:05Speaker 1: in a caregiver's life especially. But much of our faithfulness
- 2:11Speaker 1: happens when no one is watching. And that's what God
- 2:13Speaker 1: really wants to speak out of this verse this morning.
- 2:16Speaker 1: It's like making another phone call or offering another prayer
- 2:19Speaker 1: or maybe sitting beside someone who needs to know that
- 2:22Speaker 1: they're not alone at that moment. Whatever it is, Paul
- 2:25Speaker 1: knew that we could grow weary in doing good deeds
- 2:29Speaker 1: for people and for the glory of God. He didn't
- 2:32Speaker 1: tell the Galatians that they would always see the results
- 2:35Speaker 1: right away. What he did is he reminded them that
- 2:40Speaker 1: every harvest has a season. There's a time between planting
- 2:45Speaker 1: and seeing what grows. Now that doesn't mean every kind
- 2:50Speaker 1: act will turn out the way we had hoped to.
- 2:52Speaker 1: We wished it would, but most of the time It
- 2:55Speaker 1: won't turn out exactly the way we want it to.
- 2:58Speaker 1: But it does mean we can trust God with what
- 3:00Speaker 1: happens after we've done what God asked us to do. See,
- 3:05Speaker 1: after all, if our hearts are right with the Lord,
- 3:08Speaker 1: we are not doing it to please people or for
- 3:12Speaker 1: their applause. We love others because Christ first loved us.
- 3:18Speaker 1: So to the listener who wrote our letter today, I
- 3:22Speaker 1: would just simply say this. And this is just based
- 3:25Speaker 1: on the Word of God. No one ever asked me,
- 3:28Speaker 1: or the Lord never asked me to give you my opinion.
- 3:31Speaker 1: But based on what I believe the Lord would say
- 3:34Speaker 1: through His Scripture is, I cannot tell you when you
- 3:37Speaker 1: will see the fruit of those prayers for your family
- 3:40Speaker 1: or for others. But I hope you won't overlook the
- 3:44Speaker 1: love and compassion that you are showing every day. Because
- 3:48Speaker 1: that matters. Even if you don't hear it, even if
- 3:52Speaker 1: you don't see result, it matters. I want to tell
- 3:56Speaker 1: you this morning, your mother hears your voice when you
- 3:58Speaker 1: call and that matters. Someone carries a little less loneliness
- 4:03Speaker 1: because you stopped by to visit. Don't ever underestimate the
- 4:07Speaker 1: value of that. And those moments, they matter even when
- 4:11Speaker 1: they feel ordinary to you. They're extraordinary, especially in the
- 4:16Speaker 1: kingdom of God. They may not always say thank you,
- 4:24Speaker 1: but be sure you know that God sees all of it.
- 4:28Speaker 1: And I would also say this this morning. If you
- 4:31Speaker 1: are tired, it's all right to rest. Paul said not
- 4:36Speaker 1: to give up. He didn't say you had to carry
- 4:39Speaker 1: every load and every need by yourself. Let others care
- 4:43Speaker 1: for you and give yourself permission to rest often. So
- 4:49Speaker 1: here's my question to all the Front Porch Friday family
- 4:52Speaker 1: this morning. As we kind of settle in, get ready
- 4:55Speaker 1: for the weekend, get ready for this last day of work.
- 4:58Speaker 1: If that's what you're going to this morning, I want
- 5:00Speaker 1: to ask you a question. What is one act of
- 5:04Speaker 1: love and kindness that someone has done for you that
- 5:08Speaker 1: you still remember? If you would, if you're willing to,
- 5:12Speaker 1: share that in the comments today because somebody else might
- 5:15Speaker 1: read those comments and be encouraged that maybe they're doing
- 5:18Speaker 1: the same thing and It does matter. You may help
- 5:21Speaker 1: someone see that even the little things they do is
- 5:26Speaker 1: never little to the person who receives them. So I'll
- 5:30Speaker 1: leave you with this. When it comes to doing good,
- 5:35Speaker 1: just do good for what you can do, when you
- 5:39Speaker 1: can do it. And the saying goes like this, keep
- 5:43Speaker 1: sowing and trust God with the growing. Amen. Just keep
- 5:49Speaker 1: sowing those seeds of kindness. And let God take care
- 5:53Speaker 1: of what grows from that. Because you are appreciated. You
- 5:57Speaker 1: are loved. And you are noticed by the Lord. Today
- 6:02Speaker 1: you be safe. You be strong and you be blessed.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Hope you have a great weekend. Great day of worship
- 6:09Speaker 1: on Sunday. And Lord's will, we'll get back here on Monday.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Until then, you have a great day.
