Speaker 1: All right, okay, let's talk about Star Wars for a sec. Okay,
• 0:12
Speaker 1: all right, a little bit of Star Wars talk. You know, kids,
• 0:18
Speaker 1: back in the old days, when they first made these
• 0:22
Speaker 1: Star Wars movies, they they didn't have your fancy computer animation.
• 0:27
Speaker 1: They didn't have any of that. If you wanted a spaceship,
• 0:30
Speaker 1: you had to what was called kit bashing, kit bashing,
• 0:35
Speaker 1: and that's heard that. That's basically you take model kits
• 0:38
Speaker 1: of all kinds and you take pieces from one and
• 0:41
Speaker 1: this from that, all right, and you put them all
• 0:43
Speaker 1: together and you make a spaceship.
• 0:45
  Speaker 2: Gotcha.
• 0:46
Speaker 1: That's what kit bashing was. And then there was stop
• 0:49
Speaker 1: motion animation like Nightmare before Christmas, except you know, in
• 0:53
Speaker 1: Star Wars it was the ton Tons That's right, the
• 0:56
Speaker 1: Empire strikes back. They're all stop motion, which is a
• 0:59
Speaker 1: little model of a creature that has moved a little
• 1:03
Speaker 1: bit at a time, and then they shoot the thing. Amazing.
• 1:05
Speaker 1: That's how they used to do it that way. Are
• 1:09
Speaker 1: they not so much anymore? It's all pretty much done
• 1:12
Speaker 1: in computer except for the most One of the more
• 1:16
Speaker 1: recent episodes of Star Wars, Skeleton Crew, noteworthy for many reasons.
• 1:23
Speaker 1: The characters escaped the planet Lenupa. We saw a frank
• 1:27
Speaker 1: and heartfelt discussion about disability. It was directed by Bryce
• 1:31
Speaker 1: Dallas Howard, who does a great job. And there was
• 1:33
Speaker 1: a giant trash monster trying to eat our heroes. Now,
• 1:37
Speaker 1: this giant trash monster they did a throw They did
• 1:40
Speaker 1: a throwback with with this crab they call it. It's
• 1:43
Speaker 1: this giant crab with all kinds of metal parts on
• 1:46
Speaker 1: his back, so it's kind of like a hermit crab
• 1:49
Speaker 1: kind of a situation. And they called him because he
• 1:52
Speaker 1: was all rusty tetanists. It's Star Wars. They're gonna are
• 2:00
Speaker 1: going to pull that stuff out.
• 2:01
Speaker 2: I really wanted to make sure that when we were
• 2:04
Speaker 2: putting the junk on it, it wasn't just random stuff.
• 2:07
Speaker 2: I actually tried to use as many little bits from
• 2:11
Speaker 2: model kits that were used on the original films. All
• 2:15
Speaker 2: the junk on the legs is actually from those mold.
• 2:18
Speaker 1: So they went back and did old school stop motion
• 2:20
Speaker 1: for this giant grandmoor.
• 2:21
Speaker 2: A Millennium Falcon tie fighter, you name it. That's our
• 2:25
Speaker 2: little R two D two. He's in there all rusted up,
• 2:29
Speaker 2: and we actually even made him so that he's animatable
• 2:32
Speaker 2: so you can move him around to it. So the
• 2:34
Speaker 2: little C three po over here, we made him so
• 2:37
Speaker 2: we could move his little hand. Hi, there's a K
• 2:41
  Speaker 2: two s.
• 2:41
Speaker 1: So you can go on the official Star Wars website
• 2:44
Speaker 1: and get all the details. If you look closely at
• 2:46
Speaker 1: the junk on his back, you can see one.
• 2:48
Speaker 2: Of the walker from the scrap Walker. I just elongated
• 2:51
Speaker 2: it and jammed it in there. Tenn is about twelve pounds.
• 2:57
Speaker 2: Definitely the heaviest stop motion puck that we've ever worked,
• 3:00
Speaker 2: So heavy in fact, that we had to build suspenders
• 3:03
Speaker 2: for it, all said Untold. With the crazy rig that
• 3:06
Speaker 2: we ended up building to hold her up. There's around
• 3:08
Speaker 2: seventy plus joints that can be moved. In all honesty,
• 3:11
Speaker 2: most of them are moving all the time.
• 3:14
Speaker 1: Yeah, I wanted to make so no to star Wars
• 3:16
Speaker 1: dot com and you can take a look at that
• 3:18
Speaker 1: and how they made this giant crab monster, how they
• 3:20
Speaker 1: animated it. It's a it's pretty fascinating because you know,
• 3:25
Speaker 1: got to put those kids in danger. Sure, why bother
• 3:30
Speaker 1: watching it? Exactly if somebody's not in danger, unless you're
• 3:33
Speaker 1: putting a kid in danger. Now, the late Ray Stephenson
• 3:39
Speaker 1: for that actor. Yeah, he was in the Star Wars
• 3:43
Speaker 1: series Soca and he played the villain. He played a
• 3:48
Speaker 1: named Balen Skall. Well, he died after a brief illness
• 3:53
Speaker 1: three months before the series premiered. But the audience loved
• 3:58
Speaker 1: him as this character. He was a fan favorite. So
• 4:03
Speaker 1: they're like, what do we do people like this character do,
• 4:06
Speaker 1: Let's recast it. We need we need a large man,
• 4:10
Speaker 1: a large foreign man to play. Scottish actor Rory McCann,
• 4:15
Speaker 1: best known as the Hound from Game of Thrones is
• 4:21
Speaker 1: going to replace Ray Stevenson in the second season of Ahsoka.
• 4:25
Speaker 1: So they've cast it. They haven't set a shooting time yet,
• 4:29
Speaker 1: but there you go. The Running Man movie. This thing
• 4:32
Speaker 1: keeps getting more and more interesting. We've we've cast the
• 4:38
Speaker 1: game show host running Man Coleman Domingo. Ah, because he
• 4:46
Speaker 1: can go from friendly to menacing exactly. So yeah, I'm
• 4:52
Speaker 1: got of looking forward to this. Actually, let's see. And
• 4:55
Speaker 1: then finally this director James Gunn and his dog Ozu
• 5:02
Speaker 1: will debut a sneak preview of Superman during the Puppy Bowl. Oh,
• 5:09
Speaker 1: at the super Bowl. So during the Super Bowl, during
• 5:12
Speaker 1: the Super Bowl, there's the Puppy Bowl, and so they're
• 5:15
Speaker 1: going to have James Gunn and his dog on the
• 5:18
Speaker 1: Puppy Bowl. That's smart. It is in its twenty first
• 5:21
Speaker 1: installment this year. Twenty one years the Puppy Bowl has
• 5:24
Speaker 1: been going, and for twenty one years I've never seen exactly,
• 5:28
Speaker 1: but they're going to use it to bolster the upcoming
• 5:30
Speaker 1: DC Comics film Superman. So yeah, you watch the Puppy Bowl,
• 5:36
Speaker 1: you'll see James gun and his dog, and they're going
• 5:39
Speaker 1: to give you a special message to viewers and show
• 5:41
Speaker 1: you a scene and all of that. The twenty twenty
• 5:44
Speaker 1: five edition includes one hundred and forty two puppies from
• 5:47
Speaker 1: eighty shelters and will be simulcast not only on Animal Planet,
• 5:52
Speaker 1: but TBS Truetiva. You'll find it. It's going to be everywhere.
• 5:55
Speaker 1: So that's a two PM with the pre show at one.
• 6:01
Speaker 1: Skip the Super Bowl. Sure, watch the Puppy Bowl, Okay,
• 6:05
Speaker 1: I suppose yes, mm hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
