Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Outspoken.
• 0:06
Speaker 2: It's your dose of the hottest influencer and pop culture.
• 0:09
Speaker 1: News twice a week. I'm Sophie Torber. And I'm Kate Torber.
• 0:13
Speaker 2: And coming up on today's show, the feud between Alex
• 0:16
Speaker 2: Cooper and Alex Earle is back on and the bizarre
• 0:20
Speaker 2: backlash following the Fate Estate brand trip. But first, Nadia
• 0:24
Speaker 2: Bartel has bravely opened up about pregnancy loss, revealing she
• 0:28
Speaker 2: suffered a miscarriage in July last year. The Henny founder
• 0:31
Speaker 2: shared the news on TikTok in a bid to normalise
• 0:33
Speaker 2: the conversation. Let's take a listen to what she said.
• 0:37
  Speaker 3: I had a pregnancy loss. It's what they call a
• 0:41
Speaker 3: miscarriage in July last year. It was just the early
• 0:44
Speaker 3: stages of my pregnancy. So I was seven weeks pregnant.
• 0:49
Speaker 3: I had to go in and have a DNC operation
• 0:52
Speaker 3: and then it took a really long time for me
• 0:54
Speaker 3: to get my period back. And I, yeah, even.
• 0:59
  Speaker 4: Though it was.
• 1:00
Speaker 3: early stages, I just found the whole thing so tough.
• 1:05
Speaker 3: I think when you are pregnant, even if it's early days,
• 1:08
Speaker 3: you imagine your life with the baby that you are
• 1:12
Speaker 3: going to have. And yeah, you just get so attached
• 1:15
Speaker 3: to your pregnancy and your baby. And when something like
• 1:18
Speaker 3: that happens, it's really, really disheartening.
• 1:21
Speaker 2: When this popped up on my TikTok feed, my heart
• 1:23
Speaker 2: just broke for Nadia. And I think it really shows
• 1:25
Speaker 2: that you do not know what people are going through
• 1:27
Speaker 2: in their personal lives behind the scenes. She went on
• 1:30
Speaker 2: to say that she created a video last year about
• 1:33
Speaker 2: her miscarriage, but she didn't have the strength at the
• 1:35
Speaker 2: time to share those videos. And this would just be
• 1:38
Speaker 2: so incredibly difficult to speak about so publicly, particularly when
• 1:43
Speaker 2: you know that your personal life has been fodder for
• 1:46
Speaker 2: journalists for so many years. There has just been so
• 1:49
Speaker 2: much interest in Nadia's personal life ever since she and
• 1:52
Speaker 2: her ex-husband, Jimmy Bartell, divorced in 2019. Well, I would
• 1:56
Speaker 2: go as far as saying that her personal life has
• 1:58
Speaker 2: been fodder for journalists since she was in the spotlight
• 2:01
Speaker 2: when she was in her early 20s, when she first
• 2:03
Speaker 2: started going out with Jimmy Bartell. I mean, she has
• 2:05
Speaker 2: spoken about how she was working a nine to five
• 2:08
Speaker 2: job and she would have paparazzi following her. The scrutiny
• 2:12
Speaker 2: on her was just ridiculous. She has been a real
• 2:14
Speaker 2: favorite of the tabloids. And as I was saying, that
• 2:17
Speaker 2: particularly amped up in 2019 following her divorce, because there
• 2:21
Speaker 2: were rumors at the time that Jimmy cheated on Nadia
• 2:23
Speaker 2: with a woman named Lauren Mann. Now, Jimmy has publicly
• 2:27
Speaker 2: disputed those claims. I just find it so sad to
• 2:30
Speaker 2: reflect on the fact that their son Henley was only
• 2:32
Speaker 2: 10 months old when they separated and their son Aston
• 2:36
Speaker 2: was only three. So those really early years in her kids'
• 2:39
Speaker 2: lives would have been incredibly turbulent for her. I knew
• 2:42
Speaker 2: her kids were young at the time, but I think
• 2:43
Speaker 2: it's only when you have your own young children that
• 2:46
Speaker 2: you realize, wow, like how massive that would have been
• 2:49
Speaker 2: for her because I don't know how I would have
• 2:51
Speaker 2: been able to do it without my husband's support. And
• 2:53
Speaker 2: you think about having to go through that heartbreak and
• 2:56
Speaker 2: then also have to look after your kids.
• 2:58
  Speaker 1: It really does.
• 2:58
Speaker 2: My son actually turned 10 months old today and I
• 3:01
Speaker 2: was reflecting thinking, wow, Nadia is absolutely incredible for holding
• 3:05
Speaker 2: it all together during that time. Now, Nadia has been
• 3:08
Speaker 2: with her long-term boyfriend, Pete Dugmore, who is a former
• 3:11
Speaker 2: footballer and model for almost four years now. And back
• 3:14
Speaker 2: in November, she revealed to Stellar Magazine that she wanted
• 3:18
Speaker 2: to try and have a family with Pete. I must
• 3:21
Speaker 2: have missed this because I did not see this article
• 3:23
Speaker 2: pop up. So it was quite new information to me
• 3:26
Speaker 2: that Nadia was trying for a baby.
• 3:29
Speaker 1: Yeah, I wasn't across this either.
• 3:30
Speaker 2: So she told the publication that she had frozen embryos
• 3:33
Speaker 2: and wanted to start trying for a baby that year.
• 3:36
Speaker 2: She also described Pete, her partner, as a big help
• 3:39
Speaker 2: with her boys that she has with Jimmy Bartell and
• 3:41
Speaker 2: said that she feels like they're a real team. It
• 3:43
Speaker 2: is really beautiful to hear that Pete plays such a
• 3:46
Speaker 2: big role in the boys' lives. I didn't actually realise
• 3:49
Speaker 2: that Jimmy Bartell and his new partner, Amelia Shepard, had
• 3:53
  Speaker 2: a baby together in 2023.
• 3:55
Speaker 1: A girl called Paloma. Did you know that he had
• 3:58
Speaker 1: another daughter or a daughter?
• 3:59
Speaker 2: I don't really follow Jimmy Bartell's life, to be completely honest.
• 4:03
Speaker 2: I'm not a big fan of him after what happened
• 4:05
Speaker 2: between him and Nadia.
• 4:07
Speaker 1: I'm definitely team Nadia.
• 4:08
  Speaker 5: Yeah.
• 4:08
Speaker 2: Now, getting back to this TikTok that Nadia shared, she
• 4:12
Speaker 2: also revealed in it that she's currently going through IVF,
• 4:15
Speaker 2: saying that she sees so many people talking about their
• 4:18
Speaker 2: IVF journeys after they have success. She finds it really
• 4:22
Speaker 2: interesting for people to share stories when they're going through it.
• 4:25
Speaker 2: She opened up that so far she's had failed transfers
• 4:29
Speaker 2: and egg collections. Being almost 41, it makes things really
• 4:33
Speaker 2: tough because her egg quality and ovarian reserves have declined
• 4:36
Speaker 2: a lot in the past 18 months. I thought that
• 4:39
Speaker 2: was really brave of her particularly considering that wellness seems
• 4:43
Speaker 2: to be quite a big part of her personal brand
• 4:45
Speaker 2: at the moment. It was just last year that she
• 4:48
Speaker 2: was on Bec Judd's podcast where they kind of open
• 4:50
Speaker 2: up about all the different procedures that they do and
• 4:53
Speaker 2: the things that they do to look good. And Nadia
• 4:56
Speaker 2: was talking in depth about how important wellness is to
• 4:58
Speaker 2: her and her very strict routine.
• 5:00
  Speaker 1: And I'm guessing a.
• 5:01
Speaker 2: Lot of that has also to do with the fact
• 5:03
Speaker 2: that she is trying to fall pregnant, but she obviously
• 5:06
Speaker 2: didn't say it at the time. Yeah, well, she did
• 5:07
Speaker 2: actually say that if she has success... she will share
• 5:10
Speaker 2: with her community the things that she was doing, which
• 5:15
Speaker 2: could be a little bit problematic at times. We'll have
• 5:16
Speaker 2: to wait and see what she actually shares. But she
• 5:19
Speaker 2: said that one of the reasons that she did want
• 5:21
Speaker 2: to open up about her struggles is because talking about
• 5:25
Speaker 2: her experience with other women has been the thing that
• 5:27
Speaker 2: has helped her the most. And she reflected that when
• 5:30
Speaker 2: her son Aston was born 10 years ago, miscarriage was
• 5:33
Speaker 2: something that people would never talk about, but she's found
• 5:36
Speaker 2: so much comfort in connecting with other women, particularly women
• 5:40
Speaker 2: of a similar age to her who have gone on
• 5:42
Speaker 2: to have a baby after having a miscarriage.
• 5:45
Speaker 1: And I just think for.
• 5:46
Speaker 2: Someone whose life is so under the microscope, this is
• 5:50
Speaker 2: just fantastic that she's actually opened up about it, particularly
• 5:53
Speaker 2: on a platform like TikTok, where she can then go
• 5:56
Speaker 2: back and have a conversation with so many women and
• 5:58
Speaker 2: sort of find her people as well. Because this seems
• 6:00
Speaker 2: to be for her as much as it is for
• 6:02
Speaker 2: everyone else. As I touched on earlier, Soph, we are
• 6:05
Speaker 2: big fans of Nadia. I actually want to do a
• 6:07
Speaker 2: deep dive on Nadia Bartel at some point for the podcast.
• 6:10
Speaker 2: And it's crazy to think, I remember having a conversation
• 6:13
Speaker 2: with you on the podcast, probably back around 2020, where
• 6:16
Speaker 2: we admitted that we hadn't actually heard Nadia Bartel speak.
• 6:20
Speaker 2: And I love that platforms like TikTok are giving people
• 6:22
Speaker 2: like Nadia the opportunity to actually share their personal opinions
• 6:26
Speaker 2: and feelings. Because I mean, I remember her blog was
• 6:29
Speaker 2: huge back in the day. Bec Judd had a blog
• 6:32
Speaker 2: as well. And obviously they would write stuff, but you
• 6:35
Speaker 2: never really heard much about what they were thinking and feeling.
• 6:37
Speaker 1: It was really more about their aesthetic and what they
• 6:39
  Speaker 1: were wearing.
• 6:40
Speaker 2: I wonder if there was also a bit of fear
• 6:42
Speaker 2: on Nadia's end that someone would leak this story to
• 6:45
Speaker 2: the press and maybe she felt like she wanted to
• 6:47
Speaker 2: be on the front foot about it and control the narrative. Well,
• 6:50
Speaker 2: that also wouldn't surprise me considering Nadia The press have
• 6:54
Speaker 2: done her dirty in the past. I mean, on that
• 6:56
Speaker 2: podcast I was talking about earlier where she appeared alongside
• 6:59
Speaker 2: Bec Judd, she spoke about the moment that she was
• 7:01
Speaker 2: papped coming out of a plastic surgeon's office with her
• 7:04
Speaker 2: nose all bandaged up and how it had taken her
• 7:07
Speaker 2: a long time to actually talk about having a nose job.
• 7:11
  Speaker 4: I need some.
• 7:11
Speaker 6: Influencers to come on board and help to bring brand
• 7:14
  Speaker 6: awareness to faith.
• 7:16
Speaker 2: The internet is still buzzing after Brittany Saunders hosted her
• 7:19
Speaker 2: first ever influencer event over the weekend for her clothing brand,
• 7:23
Speaker 2: Fate the Label. Dubbed Fate Estate, the glamorous festival-inspired getaway
• 7:28
Speaker 2: featured a notably inclusive guest list and quickly began trending
• 7:33
Speaker 2: on TikTok, though not everyone was impressed. So if this
• 7:36
Speaker 2: was all over my For You page, for those who
• 7:38
Speaker 2: haven't come across it yet, what was Fate Estate all about? Well, essentially,
• 7:42
Speaker 2: Britt Saunders just held her own Revolve Festival bit in
• 7:46
Speaker 2: Australia to promote her latest drop of clothes. Now, for
• 7:48
Speaker 2: those not familiar with the Revolve Festival, it's this brand
• 7:51
Speaker 2: activation that basically piggybacks off Coachella. It's held in the
• 7:55
Speaker 2: first week of the festival. So I love that Britt
• 7:59
Speaker 2: Saunders has created her own in Australia.
• 8:02
Speaker 1: It was so clever.
• 8:02
Speaker 2: Yeah, and this was a really big move from Britt
• 8:05
Speaker 2: because it was her clothing brand's first ever influencer event.
• 8:09
Speaker 2: For the past eight years, Fate has received a lot
• 8:12
Speaker 2: of praise for giving back to its customers and holding.
• 8:15
  Speaker 1: These community events.
• 8:17
Speaker 2: And Brit has argued in the past that brands should
• 8:19
Speaker 2: shift away from flying influencers all over the world and
• 8:23
Speaker 2: instead focus on recording real customers and building community that way.
• 8:27
Speaker 2: She has also really questioned how brand events are perceived
• 8:31
Speaker 2: by customers, saying they can come across as overly lavish
• 8:34
Speaker 2: and not relatable. I think what was so revolutionary about
• 8:38
Speaker 2: Brit's opinions on influencer events is the fact that she
• 8:42
Speaker 2: was an OG Australian influencer. Like she has gone on
• 8:45
Speaker 2: a lot of epic brand events back in 2015 and 2016.
• 8:49
Speaker 2: So it was really interesting to have an influencer come
• 8:52
Speaker 2: out and say, actually, they're not what they used to
• 8:55
Speaker 2: be and we should be moving away from them.
• 8:57
Speaker 1: A lot of brands have copied her as well.
• 8:59
  Speaker 5: Yeah.
• 9:00
Speaker 2: And I think that that is why it initially came
• 9:02
Speaker 2: as a bit of a surprise to some of her
• 9:04
Speaker 2: customers that she was launching her first ever influencer event
• 9:08
Speaker 2: at such a grand scale. When asked why it's taken
• 9:12
Speaker 2: Fate eight years to hold an influencer event, Britt said this.
• 9:15
Speaker 6: Fate is a brand that has been built off the
• 9:17
Speaker 6: back of our community. Community comes first. Community powers our brand.
• 9:22
Speaker 6: We've done community brand trips and events. So I thought,
• 9:25
Speaker 6: you know what? I think it's about time we.
• 9:27
Speaker 5: Do something for the influencers.
• 9:29
Speaker 7: You know what I mean?
• 9:30
Speaker 6: And I just feel like a festival edit is the
• 9:32
Speaker 6: perfect excuse for us to get everyone together. We work
• 9:36
Speaker 6: with so many amazing creators. And also, I can only
• 9:40
Speaker 6: market my brand so much.
• 9:41
Speaker 1: I need some influencers to come.
• 9:43
Speaker 6: On board and help to bring brand awareness to fate.
• 9:47
Speaker 2: To me, it makes sense that she's expanding to influencers
• 9:50
Speaker 2: in order to grow this business. She can only rely
• 9:53
Speaker 2: on her own following for so long. She does need
• 9:55
Speaker 2: to expand and dip her toe into the influencer marketing space.
• 10:00
Speaker 2: and really tap into other creators who hold similar values
• 10:03
  Speaker 2: to her.
• 10:03
Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's not like she ignored her community.
• 10:06
Speaker 2: I mean, they ran a competition where eight lucky winners
• 10:09
Speaker 2: got to attend the festival as well. We will touch
• 10:13
Speaker 2: on the competition element of Fate Estate a little bit
• 10:16
Speaker 2: later because that is where some of this controversy has arisen.
• 10:19
Speaker 2: I want to talk to you about the event itself, though,
• 10:21
Speaker 2: because Britt said that she was inspired by Coachella. So
• 10:25
Speaker 2: she explained that she was looking into holding a Coachella
• 10:28
Speaker 2: brand trip, but it quickly became too expensive and too tricky.
• 10:32
Speaker 2: So she thought, why not create something that has the
• 10:34
Speaker 2: same sort of vibes, but in Australia? I actually think
• 10:38
Speaker 2: it was a genius move because I would say this
• 10:41
Speaker 2: event was getting just as much attention in Australia as Coachella.
• 10:46
Speaker 2: And it was perfect how she aligned it to run
• 10:49
Speaker 2: the first weekend of Coachella. So she held the event
• 10:53
Speaker 2: in Byron Bay. It's an interesting tactic because she's having
• 10:56
Speaker 2: to compete with Coachella because all the largest influencers in
• 11:00
Speaker 2: Australia are over in Palm Springs. But for Britt, those
• 11:04
Speaker 2: aren't the people that she wants to be at Fader State.
• 11:06
Speaker 2: She wants to tap into a different market of people
• 11:09
Speaker 2: that we don't generally see invited to these events. It's
• 11:12
Speaker 2: funny you say it's the biggest influencers in Australia that
• 11:14
Speaker 2: get invited because sometimes I scratch my head at the
• 11:17
Speaker 2: people who do get invited to some of these events,
• 11:19
Speaker 2: particularly when we've spoken at length about the Grand Prix
• 11:22
Speaker 2: and the Australian Open. It's always the same people. And
• 11:24
Speaker 2: I'm like, but are people genuinely interested in what they're doing?
• 11:28
Speaker 1: I mean, they all start looking the same. They start
• 11:30
Speaker 1: creating the same content.
• 11:32
Speaker 2: I mean, I think the influences Brit chose were absolutely perfect.
• 11:37
Speaker 2: The influences that people actually like and engage with their
• 11:41
Speaker 2: content and have parasocial relationships. I think there were influences
• 11:44
Speaker 2: that you were actually happy to see there. You're like,
• 11:46
Speaker 2: thank God someone has actually finally invited this person as
• 11:50
Speaker 2: a bit of a pat on the back.
• 11:52
Speaker 1: And in recognition of their work.
• 11:54
Speaker 2: It was this real genuine mix of large creators and
• 11:58
Speaker 2: small creators. I mean, everyone in the room looked different.
• 12:01
Speaker 2: I want to talk to you about some of the
• 12:03
Speaker 2: people who were there. We saw All Right Hay, friend
• 12:05
Speaker 2: of the podcast, Courtney Magnan, Adele Petropoulos, Ali Smith, Kate Stobbs,
• 12:10
Speaker 2: Rihanna Marie, Madison Young, a creator called Emma Romer described
• 12:15
Speaker 2: the lineup perfectly saying this.
• 12:18
Speaker 5: You know how I know FATE is going to be
• 12:19
Speaker 5: the best influencer event that we've seen this year, probably ever,
• 12:22
Speaker 5: to be honest, is that if I was ever invited
• 12:25
Speaker 5: to go to an event with FATE, I would not
• 12:28
Speaker 5: be scared to go.
• 12:29
  Speaker 1: I wouldn't be shaking. I wouldn't be crying.
• 12:32
Speaker 5: I'd be so excited because you know that the influencers
• 12:35
Speaker 5: that they bring are literally the nicest girls ever. I
• 12:39
Speaker 5: know a couple of them, like such lovely girls. very
• 12:44
Speaker 5: down to earth, so nice. And you just know that,
• 12:47
Speaker 5: you know, if you turn up and you don't know anyone,
• 12:50
Speaker 5: someone's going to make you feel so welcome.
• 12:52
Speaker 2: Brie Saunders has her finger on the pulse when it
• 12:55
Speaker 2: comes to marketing. I think she would have seen all
• 12:58
Speaker 2: this backlash that I just touched upon going on about
• 13:01
Speaker 2: the same people getting invited to the road event. And
• 13:04
Speaker 2: she's gone, hold my beer. Like, this is how you
• 13:07
Speaker 2: do it. This is who people want to see at
• 13:10
Speaker 2: these events. And I hope other brands are looking on
• 13:13
Speaker 2: and saying, oh, let's replicate this guest list. I also
• 13:17
Speaker 2: think because she's been critical of influencer events in the
• 13:20
Speaker 2: past and has said that they're not particularly effective, she
• 13:23
Speaker 2: wants to try something new and invite influencers who haven't
• 13:27
Speaker 2: been trialed before, who usually get looked over. She wants
• 13:30
Speaker 2: to use small creators who have that real connection with
• 13:34
Speaker 2: their audience and a real cut through. Yeah, well, despite
• 13:37
Speaker 2: all of that and creating an epic influencer guest list,
• 13:41
Speaker 2: there were corners of the internet who were still up
• 13:43
Speaker 2: in arms that Brit even invited influencers to the event.
• 13:47
Speaker 2: And it was almost as if people just thought, okay, well,
• 13:50
Speaker 2: now that she's held an influencer event, she's never inviting
• 13:52
Speaker 2: her community ever again. But the reality is this was
• 13:56
Speaker 2: still a hybrid event because she brought along eight customers
• 13:59
Speaker 2: who won, as I touched upon, a competition. Now, in
• 14:02
Speaker 2: order to go into the draw, customers had to tell
• 14:04
Speaker 2: Fate why they should win. Now, in the initial promotion,
• 14:08
Speaker 2: Brit made a big deal that it would really help
• 14:10
Speaker 2: if people posted a reel or a TikTok showing why
• 14:13
Speaker 2: they deserve to go. Now, when those winners were initially announced,
• 14:18
Speaker 2: it turned out that all of those entrants posted a TikTok.
• 14:22
Speaker 2: And there was a bit of a rumbling in the
• 14:24
Speaker 2: fake Facebook community that it was unfair that people thought, well,
• 14:29
  Speaker 2: I didn't know I had to put in a video.
• 14:31
Speaker 2: You know, you've only picked people with videos. And it's like, well,
• 14:34
Speaker 2: hang on. The whole point is to get people there
• 14:37
Speaker 2: that are going to share about it on their social
• 14:40
Speaker 2: media and create content around it. To be fair, when
• 14:43
Speaker 2: Britt announced the competition, she created a video and she said, look,
• 14:47
Speaker 2: the most important element of entering this competition is creating
• 14:51
  Speaker 2: the video.
• 14:51
Speaker 1: She did spell it out to the customers.
• 14:54
Speaker 2: The other thing that has caused a bit of drama
• 14:56
Speaker 2: and a bit of backlash is the fact that the
• 14:59
Speaker 2: winners didn't actually stay at Fate Estate. So Britt had
• 15:03
Speaker 2: hired this huge Tuscan-inspired villa.
• 15:06
Speaker 1: That was very luxurious. There was a huge pool.
• 15:09
Speaker 2: That was where the event was held and all the
• 15:11
Speaker 2: pop-ups were. But the customers were put up in a hotel.
• 15:14
Speaker 2: So one of the winners called Hannah shared a TikTok
• 15:16
Speaker 2: of her and her friend checking into the hotel.
• 15:19
Speaker 1: And they were very.
• 15:20
Speaker 2: Excited because their beds were full of presents, including a
• 15:24
Speaker 2: mermaid hair wand. There was a ton of skin and
• 15:27
Speaker 2: hair products, Havianas, And they were so excited and appreciative.
• 15:31
Speaker 2: They screamed when they walked in and saw the presents.
• 15:34
Speaker 2: But people in the comment section weren't happy. They were
• 15:37
Speaker 2: saying that they didn't realize that the customers weren't actually
• 15:41
Speaker 2: getting to stay at the estate and they didn't understand
• 15:44
Speaker 2: why they were in a separate hotel.
• 15:46
Speaker 1: One TikTok user wrote under the video.
• 15:48
Speaker 2: I so thought everyone that won was actually staying at
• 15:50
Speaker 2: the place, haha, but that is still really cool. Now,
• 15:53
Speaker 2: Hannah ended up replying, nah, we always knew we were
• 15:55
Speaker 2: staying at the accommodation on the Gold Coast. Another TikTok
• 15:59
Speaker 2: user said, I thought it was great until I saw
• 16:01
Speaker 2: the winners weren't staying at the estate. It seems like, yes,
• 16:04
Speaker 2: you have one as a customer, a paying customer, but
• 16:06
Speaker 2: then you don't get to stay at the estate with
• 16:08
Speaker 2: the creators who probably haven't even bought products. So why
• 16:11
Speaker 2: not just do an influencer event or make sure the
• 16:14
Speaker 2: winners actually experience the event like the creators?
• 16:17
Speaker 1: What do you think about this move?
• 16:18
Speaker 2: Do you think they should have been staying with the
• 16:19
Speaker 2: influencers or having them at a hotel was appropriate? Well,
• 16:23
Speaker 2: I don't think all the influencers were staying at the estate.
• 16:26
Speaker 2: Maybe it was select influencers that they flew over to
• 16:29
Speaker 2: be a part of the event because I follow Courtney
• 16:31
Speaker 2: Mangan quite closely and she spoke about how she had
• 16:34
Speaker 2: to jump on the bus and then she got the
• 16:36
Speaker 2: bus back quite late at night. She said it was
• 16:38
Speaker 2: like a very full on day. So maybe it was
• 16:41
Speaker 2: just that they only had a couple of rooms at
• 16:42
Speaker 2: the estate. Maybe they put up the big time influencers there.
• 16:46
Speaker 2: And maybe it was just that they wanted all the
• 16:48
Speaker 2: competition winners at the same hotel because most likely they
• 16:51
Speaker 2: were being flown in from different states. Yeah, I think
• 16:54
Speaker 2: you've hit the nail on the head. I don't think
• 16:55
Speaker 2: all of the creators were staying at the estate. I
• 16:57
Speaker 2: think it was a select few. When I was talking
• 16:59
Speaker 2: about this to Amy, it made me laugh because she's like,
• 17:02
  Speaker 2: if I.
• 17:02
Speaker 1: Was a customer, I wouldn't want to be staying with
• 17:04
  Speaker 1: the influencers.
• 17:05
Speaker 2: Like maybe, I mean, this is the influencers who attend
• 17:08
Speaker 2: the regular events, not the probably the nice people who
• 17:10
Speaker 2: are at this one.
• 17:10
  Speaker 1: She's like, it'd be awkward.
• 17:12
Speaker 2: And, you know, maybe they don't want people gossiping and
• 17:15
Speaker 2: staying in the same quarters. And it might've just been
• 17:18
Speaker 2: something to make the core influences there feel safe and
• 17:22
Speaker 2: not like they were going.
• 17:22
  Speaker 1: To be exposed.
• 17:24
Speaker 2: Well, it's not like she's put them up at some backpackers.
• 17:27
Speaker 1: They were literally staying at a hotel.
• 17:30
Speaker 3: What is the problem?
• 17:31
Speaker 1: And she got them transfers there.
• 17:32
Speaker 2: She also spoiled them with all of these gifts and
• 17:35
Speaker 2: they were all very appreciative. Now, a TikTok user called Mads,
• 17:39
Speaker 2: who has 12,000 followers, summed up the backlash pretty perfectly, saying,
• 17:43
Speaker 2: it turns out people are just mad they're not invited.
• 17:46
Speaker 1: Let's have a listen to more of what she said.
• 17:49
Speaker 4: What I'm thinking is.
• 17:49
Speaker 5: Really funny at the moment is how there was so
• 17:51
Speaker 5: much hate a couple of months ago surrounding.
• 17:53
Speaker 4: The AO and Road and how they were only inviting
• 17:56
Speaker 4: really big influencers with huge followings to their events. Whereas
• 17:59
Speaker 4: now we're actually seeing another big Aussie-founded brand hosting a
• 18:02
Speaker 4: really incredibly inclusive event, still getting an overwhelming amount of hate. Like,
• 18:06
Speaker 4: Fate has genuinely invited such a mix of creators, large followings,
• 18:10
Speaker 4: small followings, everyone in the room looks different, still getting hate.
• 18:13
Speaker 4: We seem to have a problem when brands invite in
• 18:15
Speaker 4: the big names, but we're also having a problem when
• 18:16
Speaker 4: brands are opening it up and inviting a really inclusive
• 18:19
Speaker 4: list of people. At this point, it feels like neither
• 18:21
Speaker 4: the brand nor the influencers invited can win in this situation.
• 18:26
Speaker 4: I think what it actually shows is we're not mad
• 18:27
  Speaker 4: about it.
• 18:28
Speaker 7: I guess we're actually mad about not being invited ourselves.
• 18:31
  Speaker 7: And it shows.
• 18:32
Speaker 4: Australia is full of jealousy and that's all I've got
• 18:36
Speaker 4: to say about the topic for now.
• 18:38
Speaker 2: I could not agree more with Mads' opinion. I think
• 18:40
Speaker 2: she hit the nail on the head. I genuinely wonder,
• 18:43
Speaker 2: is this a case of the general public looking at
• 18:45
Speaker 2: influencers in different tiers? We've got a diverse group of
• 18:49
Speaker 2: women here that often resemble us. We want to see
• 18:53
Speaker 2: us reflected in an event. And because we're being reflected
• 18:56
Speaker 2: in the event, do we think, well, why aren't I there?
• 18:59
Speaker 1: When you look at.
• 19:00
Speaker 2: Coachella and you're looking at Sofa Dofa and Jackie Alexander
• 19:04
Speaker 2: and all these influencers that generally look the same and
• 19:07
Speaker 2: sound the same and create the same content you're kind
• 19:09
Speaker 2: of like okay well feel a bit more removed don't
• 19:12
Speaker 2: you but when it's people that you relate more to
• 19:15
Speaker 2: and maybe you have a stronger parasocial relationship with them
• 19:18
Speaker 2: kind of like well why aren't I there I also
• 19:20
Speaker 2: think that we're just having massive FOMO all around at
• 19:23
Speaker 2: the moment I mean this event was everywhere on my
• 19:25
Speaker 2: for you page coupled with the fact that we're having
• 19:28
Speaker 2: FOMO for missing out on Bieberchella it's suddenly cold in
• 19:31
Speaker 2: Australia a lot of us maybe had a bit of
• 19:33
Speaker 2: an average weekend at home on the couch possibly looking
• 19:36
Speaker 2: after children you jump on your phone and you see
• 19:38
Speaker 2: people you're gonna say your dog oh my poor dog
• 19:41
Speaker 2: uh he's sitting here with.
• 19:42
Speaker 1: Me right now but yeah you're having a bit of
• 19:44
  Speaker 1: a crap.
• 19:44
Speaker 2: Weekend and then you're seeing on TikTok everyone living their
• 19:47
Speaker 2: best life in their festival wear I just think it's
• 19:50
Speaker 2: really sad because this event should be being applauded and
• 19:53
Speaker 2: should be being put on a pedestal as how events
• 19:56
Speaker 2: in Australia should be run. Brit ticked so many boxes
• 20:00
Speaker 2: with the inclusive guest list.
• 20:02
Speaker 1: It was this epic event.
• 20:03
Speaker 2: There were so many different brand activations involved. I want
• 20:06
Speaker 2: to take my hat off to her. We need to
• 20:08
Speaker 2: be seeing more of this. She's actually holding the event
• 20:10
Speaker 2: next year, but it's going to be a ticketed event.
• 20:14
Speaker 2: So her customers will be kept happy in that respect then.
• 20:18
Speaker 7: You guys know I don't usually address this kind of
• 20:20
Speaker 7: stuff because it feels like a waste of time. And honestly,
• 20:25
Speaker 7: it's embarrassing to participate in this.
• 20:29
Speaker 2: The feud between podcast royalty Alex Cooper and the first
• 20:32
Speaker 2: lady of TikTok, Alex Earle, is back on. The Alexes
• 20:36
Speaker 2: publicly fell out at the start of last year after
• 20:39
Speaker 2: Cooper's podcast network dumped Earle's podcast. The feud went up
• 20:43
Speaker 2: a notch on Monday when Cooper called out Earle directly
• 20:46
Speaker 2: on TikTok, daring her to tell her what the.
• 20:49
Speaker 1: Beef actually is, Kate.
• 20:51
Speaker 2: Now, to get listeners up to speed, we need to
• 20:54
Speaker 2: go back to when this relationship started. So in August 2023,
• 20:59
Speaker 2: Alex Cooper announced that she was launching her own podcast network, Unwell,
• 21:03
Speaker 2: and Alex Earle's podcast, Hot Mess, was its first signing.
• 21:08
Speaker 2: And at the time, it appeared both Alex's were on
• 21:10
Speaker 2: very friendly terms. They were photographed out partying with each other,
• 21:14
Speaker 2: and it genuinely looked like they were mates. However, that
• 21:18
Speaker 2: friendship appeared to be on the rocks in February 2025.
• 21:22
  Speaker 2: When Earl was a no-show at the Unwell Network's 2025
• 21:26
Speaker 2: Super Bowl party in New Orleans, and a few days later,
• 21:29
Speaker 2: Earl's podcast was suddenly dropped from the Unwell Network with
• 21:33
Speaker 2: no explanation. I still don't understand why Alex Earl even
• 21:37
Speaker 2: signed up with the Unwell Network because she really didn't
• 21:40
Speaker 2: need the network to bolster her profile at all. She
• 21:43
Speaker 2: has more than double Alex Cooper's social media following. I mean,
• 21:47
Speaker 2: she's got 8 million followers on TikTok and that year
• 21:50
Speaker 2: she really was the it girl of TikTok. I personally
• 21:53
Speaker 2: think it came down to the fact that Alex Earle
• 21:56
Speaker 2: was genuinely a fan of Alex Cooper and really looked
• 21:59
Speaker 2: up to her as a mentor. Now, off the back
• 22:02
Speaker 2: of the podcast being dropped, Earle posted an update to
• 22:05
Speaker 2: TikTok saying she had no idea what was going on.
• 22:09
Speaker 2: And then a month later, she announced she had to
• 22:11
Speaker 2: pause the podcast for the foreseeable future but she couldn't
• 22:14
Speaker 2: go into the details right now. And following that comment,
• 22:19
Speaker 2: Alex Cooper shared a statement on her TikTok saying that
• 22:22
Speaker 2: Alex Earle still had the rights to her podcast, Hot Mess. Now,
• 22:26
Speaker 2: besides that commentary, both Alex's have remained pretty tight lipped
• 22:30
Speaker 2: on what actually led to the.
• 22:32
  Speaker 1: Business fall out.
• 22:34
Speaker 2: That didn't stop them though from trading subtle blows in
• 22:36
Speaker 2: the press and on social media. So in May, Alex
• 22:40
Speaker 2: Earle told the Wall Street Journal that behind the scenes
• 22:43
Speaker 2: of her podcast, it was a little bit of a
• 22:44
Speaker 2: hot mess, but there were plans to bring it back.
• 22:48
Speaker 2: Then a few months later, Earle told her TikTok followers
• 22:51
Speaker 2: that she was in the mood for revenge. And then
• 22:54
Speaker 2: in the comment section, a fan wrote, yes, tell us
• 22:56
Speaker 2: what happened with Alex Cooper.
• 22:58
Speaker 1: Thank you. To which Earle replied, how much time do
• 23:01
  Speaker 1: you have?
• 23:03
Speaker 2: Now, Alex Cooper retaliated two months later by seemingly mocking
• 23:07
Speaker 2: Earl's Dancing With The Stars performance. So she used the
• 23:10
Speaker 2: same Britney Spears circus song that Earl danced to on
• 23:13
Speaker 2: the show to promote an unwell network event and added
• 23:17
Speaker 2: the caption, how much time do you have? Because we
• 23:20
Speaker 2: could go all night. God, you've got to love the pettiness,
• 23:23
Speaker 2: don't you? Yeah, I mean, there were a few petty
• 23:24
Speaker 2: things here and there, but over the last six months,
• 23:27
Speaker 2: it's been pretty quiet. That was until this week when
• 23:31
Speaker 2: Alex Earle reposted a TikTok of a creator ranting about
• 23:35
Speaker 2: Alex Cooper. Now, in the video, the content creator criticized
• 23:39
Speaker 2: Alex Cooper's interview style, referring to her as the Grin
• 23:43
Speaker 2: Reaper and an ambulance chaser.
• 23:46
Speaker 1: It was a pretty foul take.
• 23:47
  Speaker 4: I thought.
• 23:48
Speaker 2: This led to Alex Cooper explosively calling out Alex Earle
• 23:52
Speaker 2: on her TikTok on Monday and She captioned the video
• 23:56
Speaker 2: at Alex Earl and said what she had to say
• 23:58
  Speaker 2: was long overdue.
• 24:00
  Speaker 1: Let's take a listen.
• 24:02
Speaker 7: Alex Earl. Hey, girl. The passive aggressive repost and the
• 24:10
Speaker 7: likes and the commenting on things. I got to call
• 24:15
Speaker 7: you out here. You're going to need to get specific
• 24:19
Speaker 7: and just say what you got to say about me.
• 24:22
  Speaker 1: There's no NDA.
• 24:23
  Speaker 2: Okay.
• 24:24
Speaker 7: No one is stopping you. Stop hiding behind other people
• 24:29
Speaker 7: and just say it yourself.
• 24:31
  Speaker 1: What's the beef?
• 24:34
Speaker 7: Because I'm really tired of waking up and seeing you
• 24:39
Speaker 7: using this fake drama to distract from other shit going
• 24:43
Speaker 7: online for you. Not interested. I know what happened.
• 24:49
Speaker 1: And so do you.
• 24:51
  Speaker 5: So talk.
• 24:54
Speaker 7: Unless the fake narrative that you're creating happens to be
• 24:57
Speaker 7: way more interesting than the truth. I have nothing to
• 25:02
Speaker 7: hide when it comes to you and me. So unless
• 25:08
Speaker 7: you actually have something to say, I'm out. This is over.
• 25:14
Speaker 7: Have a good Monday, everyone.
• 25:15
Speaker 2: Now, at the time of recording, that video has notched
• 25:19
Speaker 2: up over 20 million views and Alex Earl has also
• 25:23
Speaker 2: responded in the comments saying, okay, on it with two
• 25:28
  Speaker 2: exclamation marks.
• 25:29
Speaker 1: I don't know about you, Sophie, but I could not
• 25:31
Speaker 1: believe what I was watching.
• 25:33
Speaker 2: All I could think was Alex Cooper must be damn
• 25:37
Speaker 2: confident to put this video out that Alex Earl has
• 25:40
  Speaker 2: nothing on her.
• 25:41
Speaker 1: It was so direct. Oh, I loved it. I'm a
• 25:44
Speaker 1: big Alex Cooper fan.
• 25:45
Speaker 2: So I might be a bit biased in this respect,
• 25:49
Speaker 2: but yeah, to me, it sounds like Alex Earl is
• 25:51
Speaker 2: trying to use Alex Cooper's name to try and distract
• 25:55
Speaker 2: her followers from other things potentially going on in her
• 25:58
Speaker 2: life that she doesn't want people focusing on. And Alex
• 26:02
Speaker 2: Cooper has had enough of it and is calling her bullshit.
• 26:04
Speaker 2: She's saying, you've got nothing on me, mate. It really
• 26:07
Speaker 2: puts a lot of pressure on Alex Earl to come
• 26:10
Speaker 2: up with a legitimate reason as to why she has
• 26:13
Speaker 2: been dragging Alex Cooper publicly. I really want to know
• 26:16
Speaker 2: what Alex Cooper thinks it is that Alex Earl is
• 26:19
Speaker 2: trying to distract her audience from. She's almost throwing a
• 26:22
Speaker 2: bit of shade by saying that. It's almost like telling
• 26:24
Speaker 2: people to go and look for something that she's trying
• 26:26
  Speaker 2: to cover up.
• 26:27
Speaker 1: Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. So I did
• 26:29
Speaker 1: a bit of digging.
• 26:30
Speaker 2: I think it could be in reference to Alex Earl's
• 26:32
Speaker 2: skincare brand that she recently launched because There were a
• 26:36
Speaker 2: few negative reviews about it. So potentially it could just
• 26:40
Speaker 2: be that or maybe there is something more. What really
• 26:43
Speaker 2: makes this call out even more salacious is the fact
• 26:46
Speaker 2: that it was posted the Monday morning after the first
• 26:50
Speaker 2: weekend of Coachella and Alex Earle has been documenting her
• 26:54
Speaker 2: time at the festival on TikTok. And if the videos
• 26:57
Speaker 2: are anything to go by, she has been partying hard
• 27:01
Speaker 2: and she would not have been in the best headspace
• 27:04
Speaker 2: to be called out I absolutely lost it because Australian
• 27:08
Speaker 2: podcaster and influencer Lucy Jackson posted a photo of herself
• 27:13
Speaker 2: lying in bed with a hand covering her face with
• 27:15
Speaker 2: the caption, waking up to Alex Cooper calling out Alex Earl,
• 27:18
Speaker 2: knowing they're both coming down hard after a three-day bender
• 27:21
  Speaker 2: at Coachella.
• 27:22
Speaker 1: Gives me anxiety for all involved.
• 27:25
Speaker 2: And it was quite funny because Alex Earl ended up
• 27:27
Speaker 2: reposting Lucy Jackson's post about it.
• 27:30
  Speaker 1: Maybe that's why.
• 27:30
Speaker 2: Alex Cooper was so stern in her video. She's like,
• 27:33
  Speaker 2: fuck it.
• 27:34
Speaker 1: I don't even have the energy to pretend to be
• 27:36
Speaker 1: nice in this. I'm just calling her out.
• 27:38
  Speaker 3: Yeah.
• 27:39
Speaker 2: I mean, it looked like she had just woken up
• 27:41
Speaker 2: and was sitting on a balcony, probably hung over thinking,
• 27:44
  Speaker 2: fuck this.
• 27:46
Speaker 1: It's pretty funny because while Alex Earl is.
• 27:48
Speaker 2: Yet to respond directly to Alex Cooper's call out, She
• 27:52
Speaker 2: very generously gave her 8 million TikTok followers an insight
• 27:56
Speaker 2: into her Monday morning.
• 27:57
Speaker 1: So on Tuesday, she posted a TikTok that showed her.
• 28:00
Speaker 2: Friends creeping into her bedroom to break the news about
• 28:04
Speaker 2: Alex Cooper calling her out. And Alex Earl captioned the video,
• 28:09
Speaker 2: if you're wondering, this is how I was woken up
• 28:11
Speaker 2: the morning after Coachella. Now, apparently Alex Earl was naked
• 28:15
Speaker 2: in bed and she was covered in a leopard print rug.
• 28:18
Speaker 1: Let's listen to the audio.
• 28:22
Speaker 6: We have to show you a TikTok.
• 28:28
  Speaker 4: Hey, guys.
• 28:30
Speaker 7: You know I don't usually address this kind of stuff because...
• 28:35
Speaker 7: Is it funny? It feels like a waste of time
• 28:38
  Speaker 7: and honestly.
• 28:39
  Speaker 2: No.
• 28:40
Speaker 7: It's interesting to participate in this with other people and
• 28:43
Speaker 7: just say it yourself.
• 28:45
  Speaker 4: What's the beef?
• 28:46
  Speaker 2: Okay.
• 28:48
  Speaker 7: You okay?
• 28:49
  Speaker 3: Okay.
• 28:51
Speaker 5: Guys, my fucking face.
• 28:56
Speaker 2: Her face was absolutely classic in the video and I
• 28:58
Speaker 2: lost it when she said that it had literally.
• 29:00
Speaker 1: Made her whole day.
• 29:02
Speaker 2: Fucking hell. I just love that her friends knew to
• 29:05
Speaker 2: capture that moment. That is absolutely iconic. I mean, the
• 29:08
Speaker 2: leopard print rug, the fact that everyone is hung over as.
• 29:12
Speaker 2: I mean, her saying it made my whole day just
• 29:16
Speaker 2: added to it as well.
• 29:17
Speaker 1: It was pretty funny. I loved her face when she's like,
• 29:20
  Speaker 1: is it funny?
• 29:23
Speaker 2: Yeah. And prior to this video coming out, there was
• 29:26
Speaker 2: already a lot of speculation that this was all a
• 29:28
Speaker 2: part of an elaborate PR stunt leading to Alex Earl
• 29:32
Speaker 2: appearing on Alex Cooper's podcast called Her Daddy.
• 29:35
Speaker 1: Alex's video added fuel to that fire.
• 29:38
Speaker 2: It was the first point when I was like, oh,
• 29:39
Speaker 2: maybe this is a PR stunt because I was like,
• 29:43
Speaker 2: why would they be filming it? But it turns out
• 29:45
Speaker 2: that Alex Earl is working with Netflix on a reality series.
• 29:49
Speaker 2: So I'm guessing that's why. Her friends broke the news
• 29:53
Speaker 2: to her like that. And I'm guessing that Netflix probably
• 29:55
Speaker 2: filmed this reaction too, because there is no way that
• 29:58
Speaker 2: Alex Cooper would put that statement out as a PR stunt.
• 30:01
Speaker 2: Like she was so genuine in it. And she has
• 30:04
Speaker 2: actually come out and said, This is not a PR stunt.
• 30:07
Speaker 2: This is 100% legitimate. Well, Alex Cooper's actually had her
• 30:11
Speaker 2: own documentary as well with Disney. And in it, they
• 30:14
Speaker 2: didn't explore any of the previous drama that she had
• 30:16
Speaker 2: with Alex Earle. It seems like Alex Cooper is going
• 30:19
Speaker 2: to be a large storyline in Alex Earle's documentary. In
• 30:22
Speaker 2: what was quite divine timing, I actually watched that doco
• 30:25
Speaker 2: for the first time over the weekend. And what stood
• 30:28
Speaker 2: out to me was there was this beef between the
• 30:31
Speaker 2: guy that was doing the operations for the podcast tour
• 30:34
Speaker 2: and And it appears Alex Cooper's husband, there was this
• 30:38
Speaker 2: scene where Alex Cooper's husband and one of Alex's other
• 30:41
Speaker 2: staff members was trying to persuade him not to quit
• 30:45
Speaker 2: the night of her first show. And then Alex came
• 30:48
Speaker 2: in and she was like, I had no idea all
• 30:50
Speaker 2: this stuff was going on behind the scenes. And it
• 30:53
Speaker 2: just made her team look quite unprofessional because a lot
• 30:56
Speaker 2: of her team is made up of her.
• 30:57
Speaker 1: Friends and her family.
• 30:59
Speaker 2: And, you know, sometimes when you see that, you get
• 31:02
Speaker 2: a fear that perhaps it's this echo chamber. My husband
• 31:06
Speaker 2: and I looked at each other and we're like, oh,
• 31:08
Speaker 2: this doesn't look too good. And that's why when these
• 31:10
Speaker 2: PR stunt claims were coming out, I was like, surely not,
• 31:13
Speaker 2: because Alex Cooper's already had this massive blow up with
• 31:16
Speaker 2: her female co-host. Her brand is all about female empowerment.
• 31:21
Speaker 2: It doesn't look good to have another public spat with
• 31:24
Speaker 2: a female. What adds further intrigue to this story is
• 31:27
Speaker 2: that both Alex's actually used to be.
• 31:29
Speaker 1: Managed by the same PR manager, Kate Bailey.
• 31:33
Speaker 2: And Demoisle reported in August 2025 that Alex Cooper cut
• 31:36
Speaker 2: ties with Kate Bailey as she was unhappy about sharing
• 31:40
Speaker 2: a publicist with several other influencers. I am guessing that
• 31:44
Speaker 2: Alex Earle was the main one that she had an
• 31:46
Speaker 2: issue with. Yeah, and I find it quite strange that
• 31:49
Speaker 2: Kate Bailey jumped ship to manage Alex Earle rather than
• 31:53
Speaker 2: Alex Cooper because apparently they had quite a strong friendship
• 31:57
Speaker 2: at the time. Now, things got taken up a notch
• 31:59
Speaker 2: yesterday when Brianna Chicken Fry LaPaglia inserted herself into the drama.
• 32:05
  Speaker 1: Now, Brianna hosts.
• 32:06
Speaker 2: The podcast Plan Brie, which was part of the Barstool Network.
• 32:10
Speaker 2: And just like Call Her Daddy, Brianna and her co-host
• 32:13
Speaker 2: Grace O'Malley had a public falling out. Interestingly, Alex Cooper
• 32:18
Speaker 2: signed Grace O'Malley to her podcast network Unwell. So she
• 32:22
Speaker 2: was clearly team Grace in that situation.
• 32:24
  Speaker 6: Yeah.
• 32:25
Speaker 2: Now, Brianna has come out in public support of Alex
• 32:28
Speaker 2: Earle and called Cooper a mean girl.
• 32:30
Speaker 1: She also claimed that she's heard.
• 32:32
Speaker 2: Negative things about Alex from others, including Earle, which changed.
• 32:36
Speaker 1: Her opinion on her.
• 32:38
Speaker 2: Now, Alex Cooper shot back at Brianna saying the girl
• 32:41
Speaker 2: on girl shit needs to stop. She then shared private
• 32:44
Speaker 2: DMs between the pair as receipts to prove that she
• 32:47
Speaker 2: and Brianna have actually never met and this was their
• 32:49
Speaker 2: only form of interaction. Now, in the messages, Brianna was
• 32:53
Speaker 2: very friendly and supportive towards Alex Cooper and even called
• 32:57
  Speaker 2: her a queen.
• 32:58
Speaker 1: Now, Brianna responded on TikTok saying this.
• 33:02
Speaker 4: I was a fan of Alex Cooper before I knew
• 33:04
Speaker 4: the wrath of fucking Alex Cooper and what she does
• 33:06
Speaker 4: to people and how she treats people.
• 33:08
Speaker 2: She then went on to say that Alex Earl has
• 33:10
Speaker 2: told her everything about their falling out at the Super Bowl.
• 33:13
Speaker 2: And then went on to say, from what Alex Earle
• 33:15
Speaker 2: told me, Alex Cooper is a very, very mean person.
• 33:19
Speaker 2: Of course she's going to say that when Alex Cooper
• 33:22
Speaker 2: has sided with the girl that she also had.
• 33:24
Speaker 1: A falling out with. I mean, this is all very petty.
• 33:27
Speaker 1: Things are getting very nasty. Yeah, they really are.
• 33:30
Speaker 2: But what I'm not liking is the fact that people
• 33:32
Speaker 2: are denigrating this to a sort of girl on girl, influence.
• 33:36
Speaker 1: The feud, you know, cat fight. I mean, I was
• 33:39
  Speaker 1: pretty surprised.
• 33:39
Speaker 2: Mamma Mia Out Loud did a segment on it and
• 33:42
Speaker 2: I saw their promo clip and one of their hosts
• 33:45
Speaker 2: was saying, oh, this is two blonde women who look
• 33:47
Speaker 2: like each other fighting. And I'm thinking this is so
• 33:50
Speaker 2: much bigger than that. Like this involves the biggest podcast
• 33:53
Speaker 2: in the world and it exposes these private industry relationships.
• 33:59
Speaker 2: I mean, I think this is a massive case of
• 34:01
Speaker 2: tall poppy syndrome. I think people have been waiting to
• 34:04
Speaker 2: pull Alex Cooper down.
• 34:06
  Speaker 1: It kind of.
• 34:06
Speaker 2: Reminded me of the Ellen DeGeneres drama because if you
• 34:10
Speaker 2: cast your mind back, Ellen DeGeneres was absolutely loved and
• 34:13
Speaker 2: then suddenly when it came out that perhaps she potentially
• 34:17
Speaker 2: wasn't as nice as she put out there, the show
• 34:19
Speaker 2: was cancelled, she was trolled, everyone hated her. I feel
• 34:23
Speaker 2: like this could be the start of something for Alex
• 34:25
Speaker 2: Cooper because her brand has evolved from being this sex
• 34:29
Speaker 2: positive person into her being this likeable character that who
• 34:34
Speaker 2: was all about female empowerment. And all of these stories
• 34:37
Speaker 2: coming out go against that personal brand.
• 34:40
Speaker 1: I agree with you, Kate.
• 34:40
Speaker 2: I do think that people want to denigrate this into
• 34:43
Speaker 2: just being simply an influencer feud when these are actually
• 34:45
Speaker 2: two very powerful businesswomen who were taking shots at each other.
• 34:50
Speaker 1: I would love to hear your thoughts about this feud.
• 34:53
