- Sean Graver: Everything just changed at work and you didn't ask for it. New leadership, new structure, new direction, maybe a new team. Or maybe you're the one making the change and carrying the weight of what that means for everybody else. Either way, good morning. Change is hard. Let's bring it to God right now and then we'll pray. So in Isaiah 43, verses 18 and 19, it reads, Forget the former things, do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing. Now it springs up. Do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. So God is speaking to a people who are in exile, so that they're displaced, they're disoriented, probably grieving what they've lost, and he doesn't say that the past wasn't real or that the lost the lost doesn't matter. He says, look up, look forward. I am doing something new, and I'm doing it right now. Do you perceive it? Now that question is worth pondering. Do you perceive it? A change at work activates something inside of you, right? Every ⁓ even when the change is good, there's still stress in it. Losing the familiar, the comfortable, the way things worked before. And when the change wasn't chosen, that stress can turn into resentment. But here's what I've noticed though. The people who navigate organizational change well aren't usually the ones who loved the change. They're the ones that who decided ⁓ early that being flexible is a form of trust and that holding things loosely enough to move when the direction shifts is actually a spiritual posture, not just like a professional skill. So God says, I am making a way in the wilderness. The wilderness is the disorienting in between ⁓ the the place between what was and what will be. So he acknowledges that the wilderness is real. He says, I'm building a road through it. So your job today isn't to have it all figured out. It's to keep moving and trust the road builder. God, change is harder than I usually let on. There is stress and grief in it that I don't always admit to. So I'm saying it now. I miss how things were. I'm I'm a little uncertain about what comes next. And I need your help to navigate that space in between. Help me to perceive what you're doing in this new thing and to look for the road that you're building instead of mourning the one that's no longer there. to be adaptable, not because I'm indifferent to what was lost. But because I trust the one who's leading me through. So make a way in my wilderness today. I'll keep walking. Pray in Jesus' name. Amen. All right, now go make today count.
