- 2:46news, the U .S. Army Corps of Engineers has released
- 2:50a draft plan to safeguard Boston from flooding,
- 2:53proposing over 20 projects along the city's coastline
- 2:56with an estimated cost of $10 billion. This comprehensive
- 3:02strategy aims to prevent $41 billion in future
- 3:06flood damage, focusing on neighborhoods particularly
- 3:09at risk, such as East Boston and South Boston.
- 3:13Mayor Michelle Wu emphasized the urgency, stating,
- 3:17Boston leads with bold action to protect our
- 3:20communities and our future. The draft is open
- 3:23for public comment until September 18th, and
- 3:26the study is set to be completed by 2028. Now
- 3:35onto sports. Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei
- 3:40Otani will not be taking the mound anytime soon.
- 3:44According to ESPN's Jorge Castillo, Dodgers manager
- 3:48Dave Roberts announced that Otani will miss his
- 3:50scheduled start Wednesday against the Philadelphia
- 3:53Phillies due to irritation in his left knee.
- 3:57Roberts mentioned that Otani will throw off the
- 4:00mound later this week, but his return date remains
- 4:03unclear. The manager stated that the issue has
- 4:06not gotten better, and that shutting down Otani
- 4:09will give us the best chance to be out of the
- 4:12woods entirely. Otani has not pitched since a
- 4:16July 3rd win over the San Diego Padres. In local
- 4:20sports, the Red Sox are on the verge of history.
- 4:25They beat Baltimore 6 -5, last night at Fenway,
- 4:29extending their winning streak to 14 straight
- 4:31games. And tonight they have a chance to tie
- 4:33the franchise record of 15 wins, set 80 years
- 4:37ago, by the 1946 team. Caleb Durbin delivered
- 4:42the go -ahead homer and has become a central
- 4:44figure in this run. Wilson Contreras went three
- 4:48for four with two R -gith. Aroldis Chapman picked
- 4:53up his 20 -second save. Boston is now 51 -48,
- 4:59positioned for a wild -card berth. and just three
- 5:02games ahead of Baltimore in the division chase.
- 5:05First pitch tonight is 7 -10. Meanwhile, the
- 5:10Patriots kick off training camp today as rookies
- 5:13report to the facility. Veterans arrive Friday
- 5:16with the first public practice Saturday at 10
- 5:19-30. This camp gives Drake May his first extended
- 5:24work with off -season additions, A .G. Brown
- 5:26and Romeo Doves. the number one receiver New
- 5:30England has been searching for. After reaching
- 5:33the Super Bowl last season, the Patriots enter
- 5:362026 with different expectations and plenty of
- 5:40momentum heading into the fall. In top news,
- 5:46the Food and Drug Administration remains focused
- 5:48on Taylor Farms lettuce as a source of cyclospora
- 5:52illness, despite retracting a positive test result.
- 5:56The agency announced that a previous test identifying
- 5:59the parasite in lettuce from Taylor Farms de
- 6:01Mexico was deemed a false positive. The FDA continues
- 6:06to recommend not eating iceberg lettuce from
- 6:08Taylor Farms, as products were sold at Taco Bell
- 6:12locations in five states and distributed in 27
- 6:15states. Over 1 ,600 confirmed cases of cyclospora
- 6:20have been reported, with 94 individuals hospitalized.
- 6:25Health officials stress that cooking produced
- 6:27to 158 degrees Fahrenheit and thoroughly washing
- 6:31it can reduce infection risk. In business news,
- 6:37cheap Chinese artificial intelligence models
- 6:40could actually be a boon for Nvidia, Micron,
- 6:43and other chip stocks. Moonshot AI's Kimi K3
- 6:47may encourage a surge in enterprise workloads,
- 6:50providing a long -term tailwind to chip demand.
- 6:54The emergence of low -cost Chinese artificial
- 6:57intelligence has reunited the debate over the
- 7:00substantial amounts of money that companies are
- 7:02spending on memory components and compute power.
- 7:07However, this development is not necessarily
- 7:09negative for United States semiconductor heavyweights,
- 7:13whose shares have soared due to strong demand
- 7:15for expensive artificial intelligence hardware,
- 7:18according to some analysts. They believe these
- 7:21chip companies may benefit. even as artificial
- 7:24intelligence costs decrease. In crypto movement,
- 7:29Bitcoin is up 1 % to about $65 ,000. Ethereum
- 7:35is up 2 .5 % to just over $1 ,900. And XRP is
- 7:40up 2 % to $1 .12. Moving on to a more local vibe.

- 8:33Let's talk tech. Anthropic can finally start
- 8:36cutting checks to a group of authors and book
- 8:39publishers that sued the artificial intelligence
- 8:42lab over copyright infringement. A federal judge
- 8:46gave final approval on Monday of Anthropic's
- 8:48landmark settlement of $1 .5 billion in a class
- 8:52-action copyright lawsuit. Judgerously, Martien
- 8:56Zolgin signed off on the settlement after Judge
- 8:59William Alsop ruled that Anthropic illegally
- 9:02downloaded and stored millions of copyrighted
- 9:05books. While the settlement is believed to be
- 9:08the largest in U .S. copyright law history, many
- 9:11authors still do not view it as a win. Other
- 9:15judges are free to reach their own conclusions
- 9:17in ongoing lawsuits against companies like Google
- 9:20and Meta. And in entertainment news, Prime Video's
- 9:28latest eight -part action series has quietly
- 9:30outperformed its biggest new shows of 2026. While
- 9:35buddy comedies often feature male duos, female
- 9:38pairs are now stepping into the spotlight, with
- 9:41Ride or Die being a standout. This series stars
- 9:45Hannah Waddingham and Oscar winner Octavia Spencer,
- 9:49showcasing them as action stars. With Right or
- 9:52Die scoring an impressive 96 % on Rotten Tomatoes,
- 9:56it has distinguished itself in a crowded streaming
- 9:59landscape. The heart of the show lies in the
- 10:02authentic friendship between the leads, making
- 10:05every mission feel relatable and engaging. It
- 10:09combines action, humor, and heartfelt dynamics.
- 10:12proving memorable beyond typical genres. Well,
- 10:17all righty, folks, it's time for the quote of
- 10:20the day. And today, our quote comes from the
- 10:24British author and philosopher, Haldus Huxley.
- 10:28And he said, Experience is not what happens to
- 10:31a man. It is what a man does with what happens
- 10:34to him. And that's a wrap for this morning. You
- 10:39can check out our Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok
