- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up everyone, and welcome back to the Epstein Chronicles.
- 0:03In this episode, we're diving right back in to Virginia
- 0:06Roberts and her response to Glanne Maxwell and her so
- 0:11called undisputed facts. So let's get right back to it.
- 0:16The defendants purported facts number forty. Miss roberts employment at
- 0:21the mar A Lago SPA began in the fall of
- 0:24two thousand. Miss Roberts father Sky Roberts, was hired as
- 0:28a maintenance worker at the mar A Lago Club in
- 0:31Palm Beach, Florida, beginning on April eleventh, two thousand. Mister
- 0:35Roberts worked there year round for approximately three years. After
- 0:39working there for a period of time, mister Roberts became
- 0:42acquainted with the head of the spy area and recommended
- 0:45Miss Roberts for a job there. Mar A Lago closes
- 0:48every Mother's Day and reopens on November first. Most of
- 0:52the employees are seasonal and work when the club is open,
- 0:55i e. Between November first and Mother's Day. Miss Roberts
- 0:59was hired as a seasonal SPA attendant to work at
- 1:02the mar A Lago Club in the fall of two thousand,
- 1:06after she had turned seventeen, Miss Robert's statement controverting the
- 1:10defendant's facts. Miss Roberts disputes this statement. Defendant cannot simply
- 1:14infer Miss roberts employment history and claim it to be undisputed.
- 1:19The mar A Lago Club produced one hundred and seventy
- 1:21seven pages of records in response to the defendants subpoena. However,
- 1:26not one page indicated Miss roberts actual dates of employment,
- 1:30nor whether she was a full time or seasonal employee.
- 1:33In fact, the only significant record produced was a single
- 1:37vague chart entry indicating that Miss Roberts was terminated in
- 1:41two thousand. Job hostings and job descriptions produced by mar
- 1:45A Lago from two thousand and two and later are
- 1:48irrelevant to Miss roberts employment because they are from after
- 1:52she worked there. Miss Roberts testified that mar A Lago
- 1:56was a summer job see mccaulay's declaration at exhibit five.
- 2:00In fact, her father, Sky Roberts, testified that he referred
- 2:03his daughter for employment and she did not get the
- 2:06job through a posting seamacaulley declaration at Exhibit seventeen. He
- 2:10drove his daughter to and from work consistent with his
- 2:13full time schedule Seemacaulley Declaration at seventeen. He believed the spa,
- 2:18like the kitchen dining room, was opened to local guests
- 2:21in the summer Seemacaulley Declaration at Exhibit seventeen, and that
- 2:26his daughter was not attending school when she worked at
- 2:28mar A Lago Seamacaulley Declaration number seventeen. In addition, Juana
- 2:34Lessi testified that it was summer when the defendant approached
- 2:37Miss Roberts at mar A Lago, because he specifically remembered
- 2:41that day I was sweating like hell in the car
- 2:45waiting for Miss Maxwell to come out of the massage
- 2:48Seamaccaulley Declaration at Exhibit one. The defendants purported facts forty one.
- 2:54Miss Roberts represented herself as a maszeus for Jeffrey Epstein.
- 2:58While working at the mar A Lagos Spa and reading
- 3:01a library book about massage, Miss Roberts met Miss Maxwell.
- 3:04Miss Roberts thereafter told her father that she got a
- 3:08job working for Jeffrey Epstein as a massuse. Miss Roberts's
- 3:12father took her to Epstein's house on one occasion around
- 3:15that time, and Epstein came outside and introduced himself to
- 3:18mister Roberts. Miss Roberts commenced employment as a traveling massuse
- 3:23for mister Epstein. Miss Roberts was excited about her job
- 3:27as a messuse, about traveling with him, and about meeting
- 3:30famous people. Miss Roberts represented that she was employed as
- 3:34a massuse beginning in January two thousand and one. Miss
- 3:37Roberts never mentioned Miss Maxwell to her then fiance, Ostrich.
- 3:41Miss Roberts's father never met Miss Maxwell. Miss Robert's statement
- 3:47controverting defendants facts. Miss Roberts denies defendant's false and factually
- 3:52unsupported narrative. In Florida, a person cannot work as a
- 3:55massuse unless she is at least eighteen years of age
- 3:59or has recive the high school diploma or a high
- 4:02school equivalency diploma Florida Statute Section four point eighty dash
- 4:06zero four to one. Miss Roberts was a minor child
- 4:09under the age of eighteen when she was working at
- 4:12mar A Lago as a spa attendant Robert's deposition at
- 4:16sixty one nine sixty one twenty four, she was approached
- 4:20by the defendant, who told her she could make money
- 4:22as a masseuse. A profession in which Miss Roberts had
- 4:26no experience see McAuley declaration at Exhibit five. Sky Roberts,
- 4:31Miss Roberts's father verified Miss roberts account that defendant recruited
- 4:35his daughter to learn massage therapy cea McAuley declaration at
- 4:40Exhibit seventeen. Miss Roberts's father drove her to Epstein's house,
- 4:44the address of which was given to her by the
- 4:46defendant seamccauley declaration at Exhibit five. Robert's deposition at one seventeen.
- 4:53Miss Roberts was led into the house and was instructed
- 4:57by the defendant on how to give a massage, during
- 4:59which Epstein and the defendant turned the massage into a
- 5:02sexual encounter and offered Miss Roberts money and a better
- 5:05life to be compliant in the sexual demands of defendant
- 5:09and Epstein Seemacauleey declaration at Exhibit five. The minor Miss
- 5:14Roberts then began traveling with defendant and Epstein on private
- 5:18planes and servicing people sexually for money, working not as
- 5:22a legitimate massuse but in a position of sexual servitude
- 5:26Seemacauleey declaration at Exhibits five and one Epstein's house manager,
- 5:31Juana Lessi, described defendant's methodical routine of how she prepared
- 5:35a list of places ahead of time, then drove to
- 5:38each place for the purpose of recruiting girls to massage
- 5:41Epstein Seemacaulley declaration at Exhibit eighteen. Alessi also stated that
- 5:47on multiple occasions he drove defendant to pre planned places
- 5:51while she recruited girls for massage. He further testified that
- 5:54he witnessed Miss Roberts at Epstein's house on the very
- 5:58same day that he witnessed defendant recruit Miss Roberts from
- 6:01mar A Lago Sea McCauley declaration at Exhibit eighteen. A
- 6:05Lessi deposition. Johanna Schoberg, through her sworn testimony, demonstrated that
- 6:11defendant recruited her in a similar fashion by driving to
- 6:14the college campus where she attended school and approaching her
- 6:18to work at Epstein's home answering phones Seamacaulley declaration at
- 6:23Exhibit sixteen. Schoberg testified that she answered phones for one
- 6:27day before defendant propositioned her to a rub feat for
- 6:30one hundred bucks an hour seeamcauley declaration at Exhibit sixteen.
- 6:35The following day, Schoberg was paired with defendant's assistant Emmy Taylor,
- 6:39who provided her with massage training on Epstein. Schoberg at
- 6:43thirteen through fifteen. Miss roberts then boyfriend Austrich testified that
- 6:47he could not recall the name of the person who
- 6:50recruited Miss Roberts. However, he did say that she was
- 6:53recruited by someone to work for Epstein as a massage therapist,
- 6:57but that Miss Roberts did not have any experience see
- 7:01McCauley declaration at exhibit two. Neither Miss Roberts nor Schoberg
- 7:07were licensed or trained in massage, but were invited soon
- 7:11after being recruited to travel with Epstein on his private
- 7:14plane to massageum see McCauley declaration at Exhibit sixteen. The
- 7:19defendants purported facts forty two. Miss Roberts resumed a relationship
- 7:24with convicted felon Anthony Figueroa in spring two thousand and one,
- 7:28while living with Ostrich, Miss Roberts lied to and cheated
- 7:32on him with her high school boyfriend, Anthony Figueroa. Miss
- 7:35Roberts and Ostrich thereafter broke up, and Figueroa moved into
- 7:39the Bentoke apartment with Miss Roberts. When Ostrich returned to
- 7:43the Bento apartment to check on his pets and retrieve
- 7:46his belongings, Figueroa, in Miss Robert's presence, punched Ostrich in
- 7:50the face. Figueroa and Miss Roberts fled the scene before
- 7:54police arrived. Figueroa was then a convicted felon and a
- 7:57drug abuser on probation for possession of a controlled substance.
- 8:02Miss Robert's statement controverting Defendant's facts. This entire statement is
- 8:06wholly irrelevant to the case being tried and is improperly
- 8:10being inserted to tarnish the record. Miss Robert's dating history
- 8:13as a young teen bears no relation to the allegations
- 8:16made within Miss Robert's complaint against the defendant. As previously stated,
- 8:21defendant is attempting to muddy the record with nonsensical teen
- 8:25drama in an effort to detract from her salacious sexual
- 8:28abuse of a minor child. Such statements bear no relation
- 8:32to the issues presented through her motion for summary judgment
- 8:36and should be given weight reflecting the same as specifically
- 8:40set forth in Miss Robert's objections to designate testimony. The
- 8:44alleged information would be excluded by multiple rules of evidence
- 8:48and contested by Miss Roberts Seemacaulay declaration at Exhibit five. Moreover,
- 8:54it was the defendant who solicited Anthony Figueroa to recruit
- 8:58high school age girls for Epstein see McCauley declaration at
- 9:02Exhibit four. Defendants purported facts number forty three. Miss Roberts
- 9:07freely and voluntarily contacted the police to come to a
- 9:11raid in two thousand and one and two thousand and two,
- 9:13but never reported to them that she was Epstein's sex slave.
- 9:17In August two thousand and one, at age seventeen, while
- 9:20living in the same apartment, Miss Roberts and Figueroa hosted
- 9:24a party with a number of guests. During the party,
- 9:27according to Miss Roberts, someone entered Miss roberts room and
- 9:30stole five hundred dollars from her shirt pocket. Miss Roberts
- 9:34contacted the police. She met and spoke with police officers
- 9:37regarding the incident, and filed a report. She did not
- 9:41disclose to the officer that she was a sex slave.
- 9:44A second time, in June two thousand and two, Miss
- 9:47Roberts contacted the police to report that her former landlord
- 9:50had left her belongings by the roadside and had lit
- 9:53her mattress on fire. Again, Miss Roberts met and spoke
- 9:57with law enforcement officers, but did not complain that she
- 10:00was the victim of any sexual trafficking or abuse, or
- 10:03that she was then being held as a sex slave.
- 10:06Miss Robert's statement controverting Defendant's facts. This statement is misleading
- 10:11in several respects and irrelevant. The fact that Miss Roberts
- 10:15did not contact police on two occasions for specific purposes,
- 10:19and did not take that opportunity to also inform the
- 10:21police of everything else that was going on in her
- 10:23life at the time is immaterial. Defendant implies that anytime
- 10:28someone calls the police for one thing, they should tell
- 10:30the police about every other crime, regardless of the relevance
- 10:34to the crime to which the police responded, and regardless
- 10:37to the threat to herself should she report on these
- 10:40powerful people. Moreover, as Professor Conan explained, popular understanding of
- 10:46the term sex slave might still connote images of violent pimps,
- 10:49white slavery, or victims chained to a bed in a brothel.
- 10:53In the minds of some people, to call Miss Roberts
- 10:55a victim of sex trafficking, would however, very accurately convey
- 11:00the reality that she, along with a great many other
- 11:03victims of contemporary forms of slavery, are often exploited by
- 11:07the invisible chains of fraud and psychological coercion. Ceamacauleey declaration
- 11:13at exhibit number twenty three. Miss Roberts specifically testified that
- 11:19she was fearful of defendant at Epstein, and accordingly she
- 11:22would not have reported her abusers. She also knew that
- 11:26Epstein had control over the Palm Beach Police see McCaulay
- 11:29declaration at exhibit number five. All Right, folks, we're gonna
- 11:33wrap this episode up right here, and in the next
- 11:35episode we'll pick up where we left off. All of
