Cattle markets are showing signs of renewed strength after some disappointing trade late last week. Cash cattle held near $223 locally, futures have recovered, and feeder cattle remain remarkably resilient, with good 8-weight steers pushing back toward $340.
But strong prices do not eliminate the risk. Current feeder purchases are pushing projected break-evens back into the high $230s, while spring live cattle futures remain below those levels. With higher-priced cattle still moving through feedlots and larger calf runs approaching…
