- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the almost Famous podcast with iHeartRadio.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Hi almost Famous Oge's it's Trista again and I get
- 0:09Speaker 2: to talk to Susie this time.
- 0:10Speaker 1: How are you? I'm good, so good to see you.
- 0:13Speaker 1: You too. You look beautiful, always looking beautiful.
- 0:17Speaker 2: I mean I'm in my like fluffy sweater and everyone's
- 0:20Speaker 2: got these beautiful like glitterally glam.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Are you kidding? You look gorgeous like a white sweater
- 0:27Speaker 1: like it's I mean, first of all, it's bold, like
- 0:30Speaker 1: you can't get anything on it, like you have comments
- 0:32Speaker 1: in yourself.
- 0:33Speaker 2: I literally was like, what am I going to drink?
- 0:35Speaker 2: I thought red wine? And I'm like maybe not.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Were do you champagne tonight? Because I.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Did just ask for a Moscow meal, but I might
- 0:43Speaker 2: need to switch that. That's safe, let's just do it. Yes,
- 0:50Speaker 2: how is life?
- 0:51Speaker 1: Life's pretty good? That's good. You're in La Okay, I'm
- 0:56Speaker 1: like close to weeho area. Okay, yeah, so it's fun.
- 0:59Speaker 1: It's like West Hollywood. I like, what is that?
- 1:01Speaker 2: Yes?
- 1:02Speaker 1: Yeah, West Hollywood. I'm trending now. I'm an La girl.
- 1:05Speaker 1: I abbreviate, Yeah.
- 1:09Speaker 2: This old one needs a little abbreviation.
- 1:11Speaker 3: Help every so often?
- 1:13Speaker 2: And are you and justin still you know, that is.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Like the question of the century, that is, you're not answering.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Answering last year I think that was the question of
- 1:24Speaker 1: the Bachelor Mansion as well, right last year. Yeah. We yeah,
- 1:29Speaker 1: we are like working on things and seeing if it
- 1:32Speaker 1: makes sense for us and taking things slow, taking things privately,
- 1:36Speaker 1: and just kind of like seeing like what really makes
- 1:39Speaker 1: sense for us, you know.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:42Speaker 1: But I think the cool thing about it is that
- 1:45Speaker 1: we have been able to maintain like a very positive
- 1:47Speaker 1: friendship through all of it. So good. Yeah, that's important,
- 1:51Speaker 1: grateful that we both. I think that's because we started
- 1:53Speaker 1: as such close friends that we were like, yeah, that
- 1:55Speaker 1: was the fear the whole time of like, Okay, if
- 1:57Speaker 1: we start a relationship, like we might lose the friendship been. So,
- 2:01Speaker 1: I think a big thing in life is just like
- 2:04Speaker 1: compatibility and huge. Yeah, and so I think that's something
- 2:08Speaker 1: where we're just at points in our life where we're
- 2:10Speaker 1: like we got to figure out if we're compatible. You know.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Yeah, that's very important. I feel like that's what I
- 2:16Speaker 2: was looking for on the show. Yeah, compatibility, I mean,
- 2:19Speaker 2: amongst a lot of other things, but compatibility is huge.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Yeah, and you guys met.
- 2:24Speaker 3: How long ago?
- 2:25Speaker 1: I guess it would be like two years. Oh my gosh, yeah,
- 2:28Speaker 1: I guess like two years ago. But we were just friends.
- 2:31Speaker 1: You were just last year.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Yeah, and then and you met after you were on
- 2:35Speaker 2: the show or after she was on.
- 2:37Speaker 1: After both of us had been on the show and
- 2:39Speaker 1: off the show for a while, because I dated Clayton
- 2:41Speaker 1: for almost a year, right, and then yeah, we broke up,
- 2:47Speaker 1: and then Justin hired me as a videographer. We both know, Yeah,
- 2:51Speaker 1: I know that. Yeah, we're from like only three hours
- 2:53Speaker 1: from each other. Okay, So he hired me to do
- 2:56Speaker 1: some videography work for him, and then we friends. We
- 3:00Speaker 1: both moved to LA at the same time and maintained
- 3:03Speaker 1: friendship throughout it.
- 3:04Speaker 3: I love hearing this story. Yeah, I love the backstories.
- 3:06Speaker 2: I know. Are you still doing videography stuff?
- 3:09Speaker 1: Not as much. I have been wanting to do it more,
- 3:12Speaker 1: just as like a passion thing, because I feel like
- 3:13Speaker 1: for a lot I did it for four years as
- 3:15Speaker 1: a wedding videographer. Yes, and then okay's with the white sweater,
- 3:23Speaker 1: I know, but I have to try it.
- 3:25Speaker 2: It looks so.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Absolutelyautiful and it's gorgeous with you. I feel like you
- 3:29Speaker 1: need a picture with it, even you know, it's fine.
- 3:32Speaker 2: This is beautiful.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Cheers, Wow, cheers.
- 3:34Speaker 2: I mean it's really I know that's so pretty.
- 3:38Speaker 1: That's so Jo.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Did you just bring me that drink?
- 3:40Speaker 3: Because thank you?
- 3:42Speaker 1: I'm just kidding. He was like, no, I was getting
- 3:45Speaker 1: something from the.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Okay. So Clayton, you guys you left the show right separate,
- 3:57Speaker 2: you guys rekindled things afterwards, Yeah, and then you broke up.
- 4:02Speaker 2: How was like the public and either support or scrutiny
- 4:07Speaker 2: through that whole thing? It was.
- 4:08Speaker 1: It was pretty tough because it was very divided. Like
- 4:12Speaker 1: it was hard because at that point we were seeing
- 4:14Speaker 1: so much like Team Clayton Team Susie, and people didn't
- 4:18Speaker 1: know we were together because I had left the show.
- 4:21Speaker 1: And then I'm like, oh gosh, everyone who's rooting for
- 4:24Speaker 1: me and hates him, and everyone who's hating me and
- 4:27Speaker 1: loves him, like they're all going to see us read
- 4:29Speaker 1: Night in a week and they have no idea that
- 4:31Speaker 1: they're gonna have to be team Clayton and Susie. Yes,
- 4:34Speaker 1: So it was pretty brutal. I look back and I'm
- 4:38Speaker 1: like I was not well, Like I was like really
- 4:43Speaker 1: not good. But I think that I have this like
- 4:46Speaker 1: ability to like in emergencies, like whenever I'm facing emergencies
- 4:51Speaker 1: like high adrenaline situations, like I am strategic and I
- 4:55Speaker 1: am like, yes, I'm going to solve this, Like I'm
- 4:57Speaker 1: very motivated to be like things are going to be okay,
- 5:00Speaker 1: like I have a positive outlook.
- 5:01Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:01Speaker 1: But it was probably like three or four months after
- 5:04Speaker 1: the show had completely ended, where like I was getting
- 5:08Speaker 1: into therapy. I'd been in therapy, but I was like
- 5:09Speaker 1: really getting into like the nitty gritty of therapy. I
- 5:12Speaker 1: had like met with a few people for like management
- 5:15Speaker 1: stuff like post show, just like what do you want
- 5:17Speaker 1: to do? You have this platform now, And somebody was like,
- 5:20Speaker 1: what do you want to do with all of this
- 5:22Speaker 1: that you've just like accumulated. And I was like, oh
- 5:25Speaker 1: my gosh, Like I haven't thought about myself or like
- 5:29Speaker 1: my goals, Like I haven't thought about any of that
- 5:31Speaker 1: because I have just been in like.
- 5:34Speaker 3: Emergency.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Yeah. Like I was just like I was just not
- 5:38Speaker 1: really like mentally in a good space.
- 5:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:40Speaker 1: And yeah, I just I think I was worried about
- 5:43Speaker 1: everyone around me. I think, like Clayton, I've kind of
- 5:46Speaker 1: talked about it where like he faced a lot more
- 5:49Speaker 1: scrutiny than me, and I think seeing that as somebody
- 5:51Speaker 1: that loved him and was like seeing somebody you love
- 5:54Speaker 1: just get like torn to shreds online. I was just like,
- 5:58Speaker 1: we got to make this better for you. Yeah, lift
- 6:00Speaker 1: you up, let's do this. And I was like, I
- 6:03Speaker 1: was like putting I felt like I was putting out fires.
- 6:05Speaker 1: And we learnt about it relationship. Yeah, and we laugh
- 6:09Speaker 1: about it now and we're like on great terms and
- 6:11Speaker 1: he's and I'm grateful for him and he's grateful for me.
- 6:13Speaker 1: But like at some point I like looked at it
- 6:15Speaker 1: all and I was like, oh, I've like literally been
- 6:17Speaker 1: like avoiding my mental health and my well being. So
- 6:21Speaker 1: I think there was a there was just a lot
- 6:22Speaker 1: of like pain that kind of came with that, because
- 6:25Speaker 1: even even if you were team Susie, I didn't want
- 6:27Speaker 1: you to like tear down the person I cared about.
- 6:29Speaker 3: You know, Yeah, oh no, I feel that. Have you
- 6:31Speaker 3: ever done an Enneagram test?
- 6:33Speaker 2: Yes?
- 6:34Speaker 3: Do you know what number?
- 6:34Speaker 1: I'm seven?
- 6:35Speaker 3: Okay, I'm a two.
- 6:36Speaker 2: It seems like you're you're You've probably got a little
- 6:40Speaker 2: bit of two in there too.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Okay, we remind me went to helper. Okay, I'm I
- 6:44Speaker 1: would say, maybe that's like my wing.
- 6:45Speaker 2: Or whatever, probably because I like, I feel that what
- 6:49Speaker 2: you were just like you were speaking to me.
- 6:51Speaker 3: Yeah, what you were just saying.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Putting out fires and like.
- 6:55Speaker 2: Like you want to help other people be happy.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that sounds detriment of detriment of yourself.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Yeah huh, which is actually one of the reasons why
- 7:08Speaker 2: I just did this new show Special Forces.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, I want to hear all about this.
- 7:13Speaker 1: I know we can't talk about it like right now.
- 7:14Speaker 2: Talk about it, but oh but I'm yes, I'll be
- 7:16Speaker 2: on season three.
- 7:17Speaker 3: And it was crazy.
- 7:20Speaker 2: But one of the reasons that I did it is
- 7:21Speaker 2: because I feel like I've put people, yeah before myself
- 7:26Speaker 2: for so long. I've been a stay at home and
- 7:28Speaker 2: work mom for almost eighteen years, so like they were
- 7:32Speaker 2: they were my world are my world, and I wouldn't
- 7:35Speaker 2: change that for the world, of course, But I just
- 7:38Speaker 2: with this opportunity, I was like, I can get back
- 7:42Speaker 2: to me. I'll do something for me.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Yeah, you know that's a really big thing to be like,
- 7:48Speaker 1: I'm going to do something for me, and I'm going
- 7:50Speaker 1: to go out into wilderness and put on army clothes
- 7:53Speaker 1: and fight for my life like that is an old
- 7:57Speaker 1: one which I love, very old.
- 8:00Speaker 2: Well, not like it came up with the idea, but
- 8:02Speaker 2: you know, they came to ask, and I was at
- 8:04Speaker 2: first I said hell no, like I'm.
- 8:06Speaker 1: There' are you kidding right? Why would you help me?
- 8:09Speaker 2: And then I thought about it and thought, hmmm, I
- 8:13Speaker 2: feel like I could get something out of this.
- 8:15Speaker 1: And people women are going to get something out of it.
- 8:17Speaker 1: Like I'm excited to see like other women see themselves
- 8:20Speaker 1: in you, because I feel like as a helper, whether
- 8:24Speaker 1: you're at enneaingram too or you're just a helpful, kind person.
- 8:28Speaker 1: I think a lot of women in nice guys as well.
- 8:30Speaker 1: They I'm not gonna say just all women, but a
- 8:33Speaker 1: lot of women, I know. I'm like, we put others'
- 8:35Speaker 1: needs before ourselves. I feel like when you become a mom,
- 8:37Speaker 1: I'm not a mom, but when that happens, you prioritize
- 8:41Speaker 1: everybody else around you. And I saw that with my mom,
- 8:44Speaker 1: who also was like similar in her mom role where
- 8:47Speaker 1: it was like she worked, but she also stayed at
- 8:49Speaker 1: home at times and she was like family first. She
- 8:52Speaker 1: kept everything together for us, and I think it's really
- 8:56Speaker 1: it's like you want now as an adult, I'm like,
- 8:58Speaker 1: I want you to choose yourself. But even now, she's
- 9:00Speaker 1: like grandma and she's like she wants to, you know,
- 9:03Speaker 1: provide for the grand kids, and everything's about everybody else.
- 9:06Speaker 1: So I think it's going to be really cool for
- 9:08Speaker 1: women to see you do something like this, which is
- 9:11Speaker 1: can I say, badass? You sure can, which is a
- 9:14Speaker 1: really badass Like that's thank you, freaking cool, thank you.
- 9:18Speaker 2: It was a crazy experience and I just am so
- 9:20Speaker 2: grateful that they actually did want me.
- 9:23Speaker 1: You know.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Yeah, it was like I remember having the conversation, the
- 9:27Speaker 2: first conversation with the producers and they're like, well, why
- 9:29Speaker 2: would you want to do it?
- 9:30Speaker 3: And I said that reason.
- 9:32Speaker 2: You know, I've been pouring into my kids and my
- 9:34Speaker 2: family for almost eighteen years, and I kind of just
- 9:38Speaker 2: want to do something for myself and reconnect with the
- 9:41Speaker 2: me that I was before I had kids. Not that
- 9:43Speaker 2: there's anything wrong with it, Like, yeah, I have loved
- 9:47Speaker 2: my job. I would do it all over again if
- 9:51Speaker 2: I had to, but you know, maybe now's my time.
- 10:06Speaker 1: Did you train for it?
- 10:08Speaker 2: I did?
- 10:08Speaker 3: I did?
- 10:09Speaker 2: I called Hannah Hannah Brown. He's on the first season
- 10:11Speaker 2: and she crushed it.
- 10:13Speaker 3: She won. I called her and.
- 10:17Speaker 2: She gave me the advice to like go out for
- 10:19Speaker 2: big hikes or runs if I can with a pack,
- 10:24Speaker 2: and so I tried that. I am not a runner,
- 10:28Speaker 2: have never been a runner. I'm not an endurance athlete.
- 10:30Speaker 2: I'm more like the sprinter version when I was an athlete,
- 10:34Speaker 2: and that hasn't been in a long time. And I
- 10:39Speaker 2: thought that was really great advice, and I just wish
- 10:41Speaker 2: I would have done more of it.
- 10:42Speaker 1: Oh really, yeah, do you feel like it was more
- 10:45Speaker 1: physical or mental for you?
- 10:47Speaker 3: I think god like, yes.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Wow, oh that's interesting freaking hard mentally.
- 10:54Speaker 1: Okay, because it's obviously very I believe it's got to
- 10:57Speaker 1: be mental too, Like that's my I love the show.
- 11:00Speaker 1: So that's my strategic take is that I'm like, I
- 11:02Speaker 1: feel like people who might go in physically very tough,
- 11:07Speaker 1: you might think they have an advantage, but sometimes there's
- 11:09Speaker 1: people come with an attitude. You are so right, and
- 11:11Speaker 1: you guys kick the attitude to the curb if you
- 11:15Speaker 1: want to be like like and when I think of military,
- 11:17Speaker 1: I'm like respect, like you can't have an ego, like
- 11:21Speaker 1: you get shot down, like you literally want to like
- 11:23Speaker 1: break you down, and you might come in with a
- 11:25Speaker 1: lot of physical, you know, advantages, but I feel like
- 11:28Speaker 1: the mental piece has to be huge.
- 11:30Speaker 3: It is massive. It is massive.
- 11:34Speaker 2: I feel like for that reason too, it's a great
- 11:37Speaker 2: reason to do the show.
- 11:38Speaker 3: You know, would you ever do it?
- 11:40Speaker 1: I would?
- 11:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:41Speaker 1: I think I would like get a thrill from like
- 11:43Speaker 1: the like the scene where they like drop the car
- 11:45Speaker 1: in the water, Like I think I would low key
- 11:48Speaker 1: love that, Like I think there's something wrong in my brain,
- 11:51Speaker 1: but I.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Think there's something wrong with me if I'm enjoy that.
- 11:55Speaker 1: Like that thing, I would enjoy. But then when they
- 11:57Speaker 1: like buried Hannah underground, that's I'm out, so out. So
- 12:03Speaker 1: if I ever do the show, nobody released this act
- 12:06Speaker 1: because I don't need them knowing my weakness because you
- 12:08Speaker 1: know that they're going to do that if you tell
- 12:11Speaker 1: them literally, So yeah, this can't go anywhere after that.
- 12:14Speaker 2: But although I have to say, like, you go into
- 12:17Speaker 2: it and you think you have certain fears, Okay, I
- 12:21Speaker 2: had a huge fear of open water, long story, huge
- 12:24Speaker 2: fear of open water. Right, So it was in Wales.
- 12:28Speaker 2: We shot in Whales, and the first thing that we
- 12:31Speaker 2: did was open water swim, and I wasn't scared like
- 12:37Speaker 2: I I think because I was so tuned into everything
- 12:43Speaker 2: that was happening around me. I wasn't thinking about actually swimming.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Not that I did well, but I did well enough
- 12:51Speaker 2: for me. I just feel like I wasn't thinking about
- 12:56Speaker 2: my fear interesting, you know what I mean. And then
- 13:00Speaker 2: I have a pretty healthy fear of heights. And we
- 13:04Speaker 2: did this. You see it in the trailer, so I'm
- 13:06Speaker 2: not spoiling anything. We jump off this bridge and it was.
- 13:10Speaker 1: A really tall bridge.
- 13:12Speaker 2: I can't remember how tall, but very very tall. And
- 13:16Speaker 2: I get to the top, I get all like harnessed
- 13:19Speaker 2: in and Foxy is the like DS guy who's like
- 13:23Speaker 2: standing up there with me, and they all know everyone's fears, right,
- 13:29Speaker 2: they're all tuned in. And I know that he knew
- 13:32Speaker 2: I had a healthy fear of heights. It's not like
- 13:35Speaker 2: my worst fear, but I had a healthy fear of heights.
- 13:37Speaker 2: And he's like, Okay, we'll turn around and see what
- 13:39Speaker 2: you're you know about, ready to do it, fully expecting
- 13:43Speaker 2: me to be like panic mode, you know, screaming, crying, whatever, right,
- 13:46Speaker 2: And I turn around and I was like, oh, it's beautiful,
- 13:51Speaker 2: so wholesome.
- 13:54Speaker 1: Wait, that's so wholesome. You're like, wait, this is kind
- 13:58Speaker 1: of sas so gorgeous, Like where am I? What is
- 14:03Speaker 1: my life right now? This is amazing?
- 14:06Speaker 4: Mind you about to joke a huge bridge, But anyway,
- 14:10Speaker 4: he'd he literally was like it's beautiful, Like what are
- 14:15Speaker 4: you talking about?
- 14:17Speaker 1: Are you scared?
- 14:18Speaker 2: And I'm like, well, yeah, I am.
- 14:20Speaker 1: It's really beautiful, isn't it.
- 14:22Speaker 2: It was so you never know like how you're going
- 14:25Speaker 2: to react to like your fears until you're that's so crazy.
- 14:29Speaker 1: The open water would scare me, especially in whales. Isn't
- 14:32Speaker 1: that where lockness monsters? I would be like, yeah, I thought,
- 14:38Speaker 1: so I didn't talk to you I went on the show.
- 14:41Speaker 1: I would have been freaking everyone out. Like I literally
- 14:44Speaker 1: would have been like, y'all know this is where lockness is.
- 14:47Speaker 2: I did not.
- 14:49Speaker 1: Yeah, oh my god, you're lucky you're here right now,
- 14:52Speaker 1: Like for that reason alone, Thank god you made it
- 14:55Speaker 1: out messy. Isn't that what they call her? Yeah? That
- 15:00Speaker 1: is so funny.
- 15:01Speaker 2: I didn't think about another thing that I did not
- 15:04Speaker 2: even think about. We were in Richmond, which is where
- 15:06Speaker 2: Ted Lasso is filmed, and I was walking around like
- 15:10Speaker 2: it was before we filmed, and I'm like, down this
- 15:12Speaker 2: street because I'm following like all the people, and I
- 15:14Speaker 2: look up and I'm like, huh, this is.
- 15:17Speaker 1: Ted Lasso's street. Crazy. That's amazing, that's so cool.
- 15:23Speaker 3: It was crazy.
- 15:23Speaker 2: Anyway, enough about me. Life is good.
- 15:26Speaker 1: Honestly, I want to keep going. That was really fun.
- 15:29Speaker 2: I love it. Later, I'm gonna have to pick your
- 15:30Speaker 2: brain because social of course, for sure. It was really
- 15:34Speaker 2: really fun. Are you still doing your podcast?
- 15:36Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I'm still doing it. It's called Live Laugh Lies,
- 15:40Speaker 1: and we started in September and we're taking a little
- 15:43Speaker 1: break for Christmas, but then back in the New year.
- 15:45Speaker 3: Awesome.
- 15:46Speaker 1: It's been really fun. It's kind of become its own thing.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Like we didn't really know where it was going because
- 15:53Speaker 1: the topic is lie. So we're like, okay, lots of
- 15:55Speaker 1: like crazy dating stories. We had Resa Tisa on who
- 16:00Speaker 1: she's really fun. She did an eighty part series on
- 16:04Speaker 1: TikTok talking to me, like eighty videos. Oh some of
- 16:08Speaker 1: them we're ten minutes long. Oh my god. Crazy. And
- 16:11Speaker 1: she just got a show if you are listening Resa Tisa, Yeah,
- 16:14Speaker 1: she's got like a show on TV somewhere. So I
- 16:16Speaker 1: forget the network, but a show about her experience. This
- 16:21Speaker 1: guy like lied about everything, including his social Security number,
- 16:24Speaker 1: like where he was born. He just made up every
- 16:27Speaker 1: piece of who he was, like he was fully just
- 16:30Speaker 1: like a con artist. Essentially. She married him, started a
- 16:33Speaker 1: life with him, and then it all came crashing down.
- 16:37Speaker 1: Really crazy story. So she was like one of our
- 16:38Speaker 1: first guests. And then we had Macy Neely from Secret
- 16:42Speaker 1: Lives of the Mormon Wives. Oh so like we're going
- 16:44Speaker 1: like Mormon you know, scandals, and now we're getting someone
- 16:49Speaker 1: from Nexus the Colts. I think it's I think it is. Yeah,
- 16:54Speaker 1: what is it Nextim, Yes, we haven't filmed it yet.
- 16:56Speaker 1: I'm like I don't. I need to do my research.
- 16:58Speaker 1: But I'm like that is like so it's really becoming
- 17:01Speaker 1: like a that's so cool true crime meets relationships.
- 17:05Speaker 3: Are you a true crime junkie?
- 17:06Speaker 1: I was for a long time, but then I started
- 17:08Speaker 1: to get really scared. So I have to like be
- 17:11Speaker 1: really cautious, and I'm like, I can't like listen to it
- 17:14Speaker 1: when i know I'm going to be alone for too
- 17:15Speaker 1: long or if I'm going home, like from somewhere. I
- 17:18Speaker 1: used to listen to podcasts on the way home from work,
- 17:21Speaker 1: and I like had to stop because I was like,
- 17:23Speaker 1: I can't get out of my car without like an escort.
- 17:25Speaker 1: I have to like call someone to come get me.
- 17:27Speaker 3: No, no, that does not work.
- 17:29Speaker 1: Yeah, well that's so fun.
- 17:30Speaker 2: I love it.
- 17:31Speaker 1: Yeah, thank you congratulations.
- 17:32Speaker 2: Of course it was so easy.
