- 0:00Speaker 1: Mark Simone on 710WOR. Well, it's the 25th anniversary of 9-11.
- 0:10Speaker 1: We look back on that terrible day. Rudy Giuliani is
- 0:16Speaker 1: there at the ceremony. You got the ex-presidents. You got
- 0:20Speaker 1: First Lady's Laura Bush. Hillary Clinton is there. Rudy is there.
- 0:26Speaker 1: And Mayor Mamdani was walking by. Stopped to shake hands
- 0:30Speaker 1: with Rudy. Rudy Giuliani, very cordial, shook his hand. The picture,
- 0:36Speaker 1: the video, going viral. Rudy was one of the people
- 0:40Speaker 1: asking Mamdani not to come. The families had asked him
- 0:44Speaker 1: not to come. He's behaved himself at the ceremony. Again,
- 0:50Speaker 1: very nicely shook Rudy Giuliani's hand, knowing it would be
- 0:54Speaker 1: a picture that would go viral. So things went pretty
- 0:57Speaker 1: smoothly down there. It was right after the attack that morning,
- 1:03Speaker 1: later in the day, if you were watching the real
- 1:06Speaker 1: highbrow shows, not the low-end shows, but the highbrow shows
- 1:09Speaker 1: with all these serious guys from the government, that you
- 1:14Speaker 1: first heard the name Osama bin Laden on a talk show.
- 1:19Speaker 1: They started talking about it. Many of these intelligence guys
- 1:22Speaker 1: said they knew right away this was Osama bin Laden.
- 1:26Speaker 1: And they then tried to pin the whole thing on
- 1:29Speaker 1: Bush for much of the next couple of years, saying
- 1:34Speaker 1: there was the August 6th PDB warning him. Well, if
- 1:37Speaker 1: you read the August 6th PDB, it was not warning
- 1:40Speaker 1: about this sort of an attack. It was warning about
- 1:42Speaker 1: terrorists attacking federal buildings. And it says right in the PDB,
- 1:48Speaker 1: 75 different FBI teams are on this right now. So
- 1:51Speaker 1: if you read that, you would think everything is being handled.
- 1:56Speaker 1: You've got to remember, Bush was brand new in office.
- 1:58Speaker 1: He had just taken office in January. This was September.
- 2:02Speaker 1: And he didn't have an FBI director until the week before,
- 2:06Speaker 1: a couple weeks before. The Democrats in Congress held up
- 2:10Speaker 1: the confirmation hearings. So he just got an FBI director
- 2:14Speaker 1: in place. Now, Condoleezza Rice, who is Bush's secretary of state,
- 2:18Speaker 1: apparently today has apologized to the families for not preventing
- 2:23Speaker 1: this attack. But there's not much really she could have done. Now,
- 2:29Speaker 1: as far as preventing the attack, there were two occasions
- 2:31Speaker 1: in the late 90s where Bill Clinton could have killed
- 2:35Speaker 1: Osama bin Laden and decided not to. A couple of
- 2:39Speaker 1: famous incidents, one where they were watching him on drones,
- 2:43Speaker 1: and they had him in their sights, and the drone
- 2:46Speaker 1: was armed and could blow him up, and they asked
- 2:48Speaker 1: for permission. This has all been documented, well-documented and written about,
- 2:53Speaker 1: and it was... Bill Clinton in the White House with
- 2:56Speaker 1: some of his cabinet, and they went around the table,
- 2:58Speaker 1: and Madeleine Albright said, you can't do that. I'm negotiating
- 3:02Speaker 1: with countries in the Middle East. This will screw up
- 3:04Speaker 1: my negotiations. And the then Attorney General Janet Reno says,
- 3:09Speaker 1: you can't do that. It's not legal. There's no legal
- 3:11Speaker 1: basis to just kill this. So the whole cabinet, all
- 3:15Speaker 1: left-wing Clinton cabinet people, they talked him out of it.
- 3:20Speaker 1: So they let bin Laden go. There was another one
- 3:22Speaker 1: of those occasions where they let him go. Had they
- 3:24Speaker 1: killed him a year or two before, who knows how
- 3:27Speaker 1: things might have changed. But a lot of families still
- 3:31Speaker 1: yelling today about the Saudis and whatever their role might
- 3:34Speaker 1: have been in this. We'll never get to the bottom
- 3:36Speaker 1: of that. But again, a lot of people, a lot
- 3:40Speaker 1: of officials there. Rudy Giuliani. Also, usually every 9-11 that night,
- 3:47Speaker 1: Rudy holds a dinner for the people in his administration.
- 3:51Speaker 1: You remember Tom Von Essen, the great fire commissioner? one
- 3:54Speaker 1: of our greatest fire commissioners, and he was quite a
- 3:58Speaker 1: figure that day. Bernard Carrick was no longer with us
- 4:01Speaker 1: and all the rest of the Giuliani administration. And it
- 4:05Speaker 1: was an amazing task overnight to get the city back together,
- 4:10Speaker 1: just all sorts of little technical things. When the bombs
- 4:14Speaker 1: took out the buildings and the ground and blew up
- 4:17Speaker 1: the ground, it took out the cable, it took out
- 4:19Speaker 1: the electricity, it took out the power lines, it took
- 4:22Speaker 1: out all kinds of stuff. That had to be repaired overnight.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Somehow they got it done. So when you woke up
- 4:29Speaker 1: the next day, you had electricity in lower Manhattan, and
- 4:32Speaker 1: you had your phones, and they had to arrange for
- 4:37Speaker 1: a lot of food had been destroyed, like supermarkets, everything.
- 4:42Speaker 1: They had to get food to the workers, to everything.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Lots of refrigerated trucks had to be gathered up, and
- 4:47Speaker 1: the food had to be brought from New Jersey, and
- 4:50Speaker 1: then a lot of restaurants, great restaurant guys went down
- 4:55Speaker 1: there and set up kitchens. And you had to feed.
- 4:57Speaker 1: There were tens of thousands of people working down there,
- 4:59Speaker 1: these heroic workers. You had to feed them and take
- 5:03Speaker 1: care of them. And again, there was parts of the
- 5:06Speaker 1: Giuliani administration that just scrambled throughout the night to get
- 5:10Speaker 1: everything as close to normal as they could get the
- 5:13Speaker 1: next day. They wanted to make sure the mail got delivered,
- 5:15Speaker 1: all of that stuff. You couldn't come into Manhattan as
- 5:19Speaker 1: soon as the attacks happened. They closed the bridges. They
- 5:21Speaker 1: closed the tunnels. It was a long time before they
- 5:23Speaker 1: started letting people back into Manhattan. And if you lived
- 5:27Speaker 1: here in the middle of Manhattan, on every corner, in
- 5:31Speaker 1: the middle of every street intersection, there were military vehicles,
- 5:35Speaker 1: there were troops, you know, like combat troops standing there.
- 5:38Speaker 1: And there were police from all over the country who
- 5:42Speaker 1: all sent cars and sent police to help out. So
- 5:45Speaker 1: in the street, you'd see police cars everywhere, not just
- 5:47Speaker 1: New York City, but there'd be Albany police cars, there'd
- 5:51Speaker 1: be Tennessee police cars, there'd be Texas police cars. They
- 5:54Speaker 1: all somehow got here and all tried to help out.
- 5:59Speaker 1: The city council is renaming streets. They've rolled out 26
- 6:04Speaker 1: new 9-11 street and public place co-namings and urging the
- 6:10Speaker 1: state to do the same thing and make sure the
- 6:13Speaker 1: 9-11 curriculum is taught properly in schools. So the city
- 6:17Speaker 1: council renaming a lot of streets all over the place.
- 6:20Speaker 1: There's a Never Forget Way now in Howard Beach, Queens.
- 6:24Speaker 1: There's an Eastside 9-11 Remembrance Way, Upper East Side. 9-11
- 6:29Speaker 1: Beacon Memorial Way in Bay Ridge, New Jersey. They'll also
- 6:34Speaker 1: recognize nearby memorials. There's a Brooklyn 9-11 Wall of Remembrance
- 6:39Speaker 1: in Coney Island. There's the Tunnel to Towers 5K Run
- 6:43Speaker 1: and Walk 9-11 Memorial Way. in Red Hook. And great,
- 6:51Speaker 1: great to do that. Hey, just some other news. There
- 6:54Speaker 1: are other things in the news. The Gilgo Beach murderer,
- 6:57Speaker 1: that Rex Heuermann, that big Frankenstein-looking guy, you know, he's
- 7:03Speaker 1: in prison. They sent him to Little Siberia. That's what
- 7:05Speaker 1: they call it. It's actually the Clinton Correctional Facility, Dannemora.
- 7:10Speaker 1: It's in the most bleak, isolated, frigid, cold part of
- 7:14Speaker 1: the Adirondack Mountains. It's up near the Canadian border. And
- 7:19Speaker 1: that's where he's been sitting in the locked up little Siberia.
- 7:23Speaker 1: He's got like three life sentences. He'll never get out.
- 7:26Speaker 1: He'll be there forever. But Rex Heumann was caught smuggling
- 7:30Speaker 1: drugs into the prison, drug possession, smuggling a package in.
- 7:35Speaker 1: So they said that he will now be disciplined. Now,
- 7:39Speaker 1: if a guy is in the worst prison in the
- 7:41Speaker 1: world with three life sentences and I don't know what
- 7:45Speaker 1: the hell you could do to discipline this guy. I
- 7:47Speaker 1: guess it's solitary or something, but it's quite a prison. 60, 6-0,
- 7:52Speaker 1: 60-foot-high walls, 60 feet high, seven feet of thick concrete walls. Hey,
- 8:02Speaker 1: Savannah Guthrie was on the Today Show, and there was
- 8:04Speaker 1: a moment that just stopped the whole show. Savannah Guthrie
- 8:07Speaker 1: was talking about they're going to go to a broadcast
- 8:10Speaker 1: from Ireland, and they were talking about Ireland And she
- 8:14Speaker 1: started talking about her mother. All of a sudden, she said,
- 8:17Speaker 1: my mother was Irish. You notice the word was. My
- 8:21Speaker 1: mother was Irish. It's the first time she ever publicly
- 8:26Speaker 1: talked about her mother not being with us anymore. So
- 8:29Speaker 1: it was Al Roker and, you know, everybody else. Craig Melvin.
- 8:33Speaker 1: They all kind of froze for a second on the panel.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Got very quiet there. But she said, my mother's family.
- 8:41Speaker 1: My mother was Irish. Her grandmother was Irish. Quite a
- 8:44Speaker 1: moment there. So the ceremonies continue, the Pentagon, the World
- 8:50Speaker 1: Trade Center, and it'll go on throughout the day today. Very,
- 8:54Speaker 1: very sad day for everybody. We all look back and
- 8:59Speaker 1: everybody remembers where they were 25 years ago, what they
- 9:03Speaker 1: were doing at that moment. They've now added six moments
- 9:07Speaker 1: of silence. when the first plane hit, when the first
- 9:10Speaker 1: building came down, when the second plane hit. Moments of
- 9:13Speaker 1: silence for Shanksville, for the Pentagon. They've added a seventh
- 9:18Speaker 1: moment of silence now for the victims. Now, President Trump
- 9:23Speaker 1: spoke in Pennsylvania. There's a lot of fake news out there.
- 9:27Speaker 1: The fake news is just unbelievable. They just out and
- 9:30Speaker 1: out lie about everything. There was the Republican midterm convention,
- 9:36Speaker 1: and you're saw these stories about empty seats. There were
- 9:39Speaker 1: empty seats there. Well, if you talk to everybody who
- 9:42Speaker 1: was there, there were no empty seats. In fact, there
- 9:45Speaker 1: were about 2,000 people in line that couldn't get in
- 9:48Speaker 1: because the seats were full. But there's that picture where
- 9:51Speaker 1: there's a section of empty seats. Well, zoom in on
- 9:55Speaker 1: the picture. Zoom in on it. Make it really big
- 9:59Speaker 1: and zooming You'll notice. Look at the stage. Look at
- 10:02Speaker 1: the podium. There's nobody up there. There's nothing going on.
- 10:06Speaker 1: The picture was taken way before anything started. The convention
- 10:09Speaker 1: hadn't even begun yet. You could always do that. They
- 10:13Speaker 1: used to do that at Trump rallies. They'd take a
- 10:15Speaker 1: picture three hours before the rally. People would get to
- 10:18Speaker 1: the rally 12 hours early. But they take a picture
- 10:21Speaker 1: three hours before it started showing empty seats. Again, just
- 10:26Speaker 1: total fake news. It happened with today's 9-11 ceremonies. The
- 10:30Speaker 1: president said maybe he'll go to the World Trade Center
- 10:34Speaker 1: and be there for this. And then he decided he
- 10:37Speaker 1: would go to the Pentagon instead. So Maggie Haberman, New
- 10:43Speaker 1: York Times, Maggie Haberman is always caught with her fake news.
- 10:46Speaker 1: She's the one that made up the whole fake story.
- 10:49Speaker 1: that the reason President Trump isn't going to the World
- 10:52Speaker 1: Trade Center, they won't let him speak. They won't let
- 10:54Speaker 1: him make a speech. That's why he's not going. Complete
- 10:57Speaker 1: fake story. President Trump has been at that ceremony a
- 11:00Speaker 1: few times before. So he knows as well as anybody,
- 11:04Speaker 1: there's no speaking. There are no speeches at the World
- 11:08Speaker 1: Trade Center on 9-11. The families read the names, but
- 11:12Speaker 1: there are no speeches. There were the first couple of years,
- 11:15Speaker 1: but then about 15 years ago, They decided they'll never
- 11:18Speaker 1: have any speeches, certainly not any politicians. There are no speeches.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Nobody speaks. But again, the president's been there a number
- 11:25Speaker 1: of times. He absolutely knew that. So Maggie Haberman pushing
- 11:29Speaker 1: that fake story. I saw it even again this morning
- 11:31Speaker 1: on New York One, which is a very, very left-wing,
- 11:35Speaker 1: biased place, New York One. Ooh, they hate Trump over there.
- 11:39Speaker 1: So they spread that fake story again about it. He
- 11:41Speaker 1: didn't come to the World Trade Center because they wouldn't
- 11:44Speaker 1: let him speak. But he was in Pennsylvania. Made a
- 11:47Speaker 1: great speech there. Mamdani was at the World Trade Center
- 11:52Speaker 1: in the VIP section there, behaving himself. Kathy Hochul was there.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Barack Obama. Bill Clinton. You know, Bill Clinton's the guy,
- 12:04Speaker 1: as we said, who let Osama bin Laden live. Had
- 12:08Speaker 1: two chances to kill him and said, no, don't kill
- 12:12Speaker 1: him in the late 90s. So I wonder what he
- 12:15Speaker 1: thinks when he sees... the result of that decision. I
- 12:19Speaker 1: wonder what he thinks when he's sitting there. So there's
- 12:23Speaker 1: a lot of other stuff going on. The stock market
- 12:25Speaker 1: moving up. Oil prices have been spiking, but they're backing
- 12:29Speaker 1: off a little, just a little. They're not back to
- 12:31Speaker 1: anything near where they should be. But they did drop
- 12:35Speaker 1: about $ 3 today. So the president made clear at that
- 12:40Speaker 1: convention he doesn't expect a big price drop, does not
- 12:44Speaker 1: expect a big price drop until after the midterms. So
- 12:49Speaker 1: it did spike up about, it's up about 13 cents
- 12:52Speaker 1: a gallon just in the last week. And you may
- 12:55Speaker 1: see it go a little higher. That's apparently the Iranian
- 12:57Speaker 1: strategy to just stall. They've been, you know, just militarily destroyed.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Their economy is being destroyed. But apparently that's the strategy.
- 13:07Speaker 1: Just withstand this, withstand anything, just get through it. And
- 13:12Speaker 1: they're hoping the Democrats win the midterms and Democrats take over,
- 13:16Speaker 1: you know, they'll They'll end the war immediately. They'll become
- 13:20Speaker 1: friends with the Iranians. They'll offer them money, rebuild, that
- 13:23Speaker 1: sort of stuff. Hey, we'll take a break, and then
- 13:25Speaker 1: we'll take some calls next. 800-321-0710 is the number.
- 13:27Speaker 2: 800-321-0710.
- 13:27Speaker 1: It's Mark Simone here on September 11th, 25 years later,
- 13:31Speaker 1: on 710WOR. The Mark Simone Show on 710WOR. Well, we'll
- 13:49Speaker 1: take some calls. Call me now. 800-321-0710 is the number.
- 13:54Speaker 2: 800-321-0710.
- 13:54Speaker 1: Hey, also, we've got Rosh Hashanah tonight. New York City
- 14:03Speaker 1: police say there'll be extra security everywhere. Kathy Hochul, you
- 14:07Speaker 1: can't always count on, said she'll make sure there's extra
- 14:11Speaker 1: security all over the New York State. Rosh Hashanah tonight.
- 14:15Speaker 1: Tomorrow night as well for many.
- 14:17Speaker 3: So.
- 14:18Speaker 1: Let's take some calls. 800-321-0710 is the number. Look at that.
- 14:22Speaker 1: We've got open lines for those of you that say,
- 14:25Speaker 1: I can't get through. They're open lines right now. 800-321-0710.
- 14:32Speaker 1: Let's go to Vincent in Brooklyn. Vincent, how are you doing?
- 14:36Speaker 4: Good morning, Mark. Mark, believe it or not, 25 years ago,
- 14:40Speaker 4: my girlfriend's medical receptionist, Josephine, who was a grown woman
- 14:45Speaker 4: who had grown children, Her daughter worked in the World
- 14:49Speaker 4: Trade Center, and as when the planes hit and everything,
- 14:54Speaker 4: all the chaos was happening, my girlfriend's receptionist was going
- 14:58Speaker 4: crazy trying to contact her daughter. And in those days,
- 15:01Speaker 4: they had those stupid flip phones, right? She couldn't make
- 15:06Speaker 4: contact with her daughter. Well, as luck turned out, later
- 15:09Speaker 4: on in the day, she showed up at the office.
- 15:13Speaker 4: Her daughter was late because the train was late and
- 15:16Speaker 4: she didn't get to work on time at the World
- 15:18Speaker 4: Trade Center. Talk about luck, Mark. I myself... That day,
- 15:24Speaker 4: I had to go have my car inspected. So I
- 15:27Speaker 4: met an official New York State inspection mechanic. And he
- 15:33Speaker 4: has my car. I had this muscle car, Dodge Charger.
- 15:35Speaker 4: He has it on the machine, right? And he's running
- 15:39Speaker 4: the test. All of a sudden, the machine stops. He said, Vin,
- 15:43Speaker 4: the screen went blank. He said, it must be a
- 15:45Speaker 4: system failure. He says, come back in a little while.
- 15:49Speaker 4: I go home, my girlfriend calls me and tells me
- 15:52Speaker 4: to put on the TV, and I watch the tower
- 15:56Speaker 4: come down. So I said to myself, let me go
- 15:59Speaker 4: pick up my car no matter what. I'll get the
- 16:01Speaker 4: inspection later. I go up there, and on 4th Avenue
- 16:06Speaker 4: and 3rd Street from Brooklyn, all you could see are
- 16:09Speaker 4: hordes of people that walked down. Over the bridge before
- 16:14Speaker 4: they closed everything down, all filthy with dust.
- 16:17Speaker 1: Oh, that's right. I forgot about that. Many people had
- 16:19Speaker 1: to walk home over the bridge.
- 16:20Speaker 4: Mark, even in my yard, I was getting dust. I
- 16:24Speaker 4: ran throughout all my properties, closing the windows and everything
- 16:28Speaker 4: because some people who worked, some mothers were home with
- 16:31Speaker 4: their kids. I called up everybody and went into apartments.
- 16:35Speaker 4: I said, close the windows. You want to hear a
- 16:37Speaker 4: 9-11 gangster story from Italy?
- 16:39Speaker 1: Okay, real fast.
- 16:43Speaker 3: Okay.
- 16:43Speaker 4: My friends called me up and said across the street
- 16:46Speaker 4: from where they live and their kids and their family,
- 16:49Speaker 4: this Arabic bar was celebrating giving candy out as they
- 16:53Speaker 4: do when they kill people.
- 16:55Speaker 3: Right?
- 16:55Speaker 4: My friends, they got pissed off. And so they went
- 16:59Speaker 4: over there. They threw a garbage pail through the window
- 17:02Speaker 4: of the bar. Then when the guys came out, my friends,
- 17:07Speaker 4: they had baseball bats.
- 17:08Speaker 1: Let's not hear the rest of the story. But in
- 17:10Speaker 1: other words, it was like... Chaz Parliamentary saying, now you
- 17:14Speaker 1: just can't leave. We got the picture.
- 17:17Speaker 4: And Mark, when the cops came, my friend spoke to
- 17:20Speaker 4: them in Italian. They walked the other way. The cops
- 17:23Speaker 4: didn't even do anything.
- 17:24Speaker 1: All right, Vincent. Thanks for calling. Great call. Let's go
- 17:28Speaker 1: to Alex in Wayne, New Jersey. Alex, how you doing?
- 17:33Speaker 3: Hey, how you doing, Mark? Can you hear me?
- 17:35Speaker 1: Yeah. Oh, yeah.
- 17:37Speaker 5: How you doing? Yeah, I just wanted to tell you
- 17:38Speaker 5: a little bit about my experience during... when I was
- 17:42Speaker 5: working in Macy's Hells East on that day. And basically,
- 17:47Speaker 5: what happened was during afternoon, the way to get out
- 17:51Speaker 5: of the city that day, of course, Lincoln Tunnel and
- 17:55Speaker 5: GW and the Port Authority was closed, so you couldn't
- 18:00Speaker 5: get out. So we all start going up to West
- 18:03Speaker 5: Side Highway there to try to catch the ferry to
- 18:06Speaker 5: go to New Jersey. And that's when you discovered... a
- 18:09Speaker 5: two mile long line. And, uh, I don't know what
- 18:12Speaker 5: happened to those people. So, you know, basically we, we
- 18:14Speaker 5: just went back to the Macy's and I was lucky
- 18:17Speaker 5: enough to, to catch a ride with somebody to Hana
- 18:19Speaker 5: tunnel over there. And that was the only way really
- 18:22Speaker 5: to get to New Jersey. And we, you know, we
- 18:24Speaker 5: got there to Jersey city and it was pretty crazy.
- 18:28Speaker 5: It was like seeing out of a movie, like, uh,
- 18:31Speaker 5: you know, end of the world. Cause people just drop
- 18:33Speaker 5: everything even down in that area. And they just start,
- 18:37Speaker 5: walking towards the ferry. You know what I'm saying?
- 18:40Speaker 1: Yeah. All right, Alex. Thanks for calling. Yeah, I forgot
- 18:42Speaker 1: about that. A lot of people couldn't get out. They closed.
- 18:45Speaker 1: There were tons of people that walked across the bridges
- 18:48Speaker 1: to get out of New York City. Let's go to
- 18:52Speaker 1: Larry in Long Island. Larry, how you doing?
- 18:55Speaker 6: Hi, Mark.
- 18:56Speaker 1: Oh, it's the Buchanan guy. The Buchanan guy. He hung up.
- 19:04Speaker 1: You know, if you want to be a good prank caller,
- 19:08Speaker 1: You've got to lose the accent. You can tell right away.
- 19:10Speaker 1: You've got that accent. Oh, hi, Mark. This Buchanan guy's
- 19:15Speaker 1: been at it for... Hey, actually, it's the 25th anniversary
- 19:20Speaker 1: of 9-11. I remember him calling before 9-11. It's also
- 19:24Speaker 1: the 25th anniversary of him with the most outdated prank
- 19:27Speaker 1: call in the world. Anyway, give us a call. 800-321-0710
- 19:30Speaker 1: is the number.
- 19:30Speaker 3: 800-321-0710.
- 19:37Speaker 1: Zero, seven, ten. Yeah, it was an incredible experience that day.
- 19:42Speaker 1: If you were in Manhattan and you didn't live in Manhattan,
- 19:44Speaker 1: trying to get home was a nightmare. And then a
- 19:47Speaker 1: lot of people you couldn't get into Manhattan. They closed everything.
- 19:51Speaker 1: If you came down the West Side Highway, at that
- 19:54Speaker 1: time they had toll booths. They wouldn't let anybody in.
- 19:58Speaker 1: The bridges, the tunnels, everything closed up. Anyway, let's take
- 20:01Speaker 1: some calls. Let's go to Line 1. How you doing?
- 20:05Speaker 1: Line 1, who is this?
- 20:07Speaker 2: My name is Tom.
- 20:08Speaker 4: Tom?
- 20:08Speaker 2: I live in New Jersey.
- 20:09Speaker 1: How are you doing? What did you want to say, Tom?
- 20:11Speaker 3: Good, Mark.
- 20:13Speaker 2: Osama bin Laden. It was credited that a Pakistani doctor
- 20:16Speaker 2: led to his capture, and they said that he was
- 20:19Speaker 2: entitled to a very, very high ransom payment. As far
- 20:25Speaker 2: as I know, he was put in prison by the Pakistanis,
- 20:29Speaker 2: and I can't find out if he's still in prison,
- 20:30Speaker 2: if he got the money.
- 20:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know. We don't really know if it
- 20:34Speaker 1: was that Pakistani doctor. He was in Pakistan. They found
- 20:40Speaker 1: him living in that house. One of the things they
- 20:42Speaker 1: learned in the hunt for Saddam Hussein, you know, they
- 20:45Speaker 1: were filing his top lieutenants. And then they realized, follow
- 20:49Speaker 1: the little guys, the couriers, follow the couriers. And that's
- 20:52Speaker 1: how they eventually figured out where Saddam Hussein was. And
- 20:55Speaker 1: I believe the same thing happened with Osama bin Laden.
- 20:59Speaker 1: They started following couriers and those people. Let's go to
- 21:02Speaker 1: Al and Yonkers. Al, how are you doing?
- 21:05Speaker 3: Good, Mark.
- 21:05Speaker 7: I hope you're doing well on this terrible day of remembrance.
- 21:09Speaker 7: You know, I just wanted to ask you, you know,
- 21:11Speaker 7: the president gave a good midterm convention speech, as did
- 21:15Speaker 7: the vice president. But I just don't understand when he
- 21:19Speaker 7: says about the $ 5, 000 he'll give to all the citizens
- 21:25Speaker 7: of this country if they win the midterms.
- 21:28Speaker 3: Why? Maybe this should have been done already because.
- 21:32Speaker 7: We have the House and the Senate in both Republicans.
- 21:36Speaker 1: Well, you're never going to see the 5,000. I think
- 21:38Speaker 1: he was just shooting his mouth off. He loves to
- 21:39Speaker 1: come up with gimmicks. And it's a great way to
- 21:42Speaker 1: troll the fake news and the Democrats. Remember, the Democrats
- 21:44Speaker 1: are always giving away stuff. With Obama, it was free phones.
- 21:50Speaker 1: With Biden, it was I'll forgive your student loans. And
- 21:54Speaker 1: in this case, it was just I'll give you a
- 21:55Speaker 1: check for 5,000. It's the kind of thing Democrats would do. Now, watch.
- 21:59Speaker 1: As much as they attack him for it, now they'll
- 22:01Speaker 1: offer 10,000. Let's go to Robert in Westchester. Robert, how
- 22:04Speaker 1: are you doing?
- 22:06Speaker 6: Good morning, Mark.
- 22:07Speaker 1: Yes, Robert.
- 22:07Speaker 6: Thank you for taking my call. Mark, with Mondani first,
- 22:12Speaker 6: with him coming to the services today, he didn't do
- 22:16Speaker 6: it because out of respect.
- 22:18Speaker 1: No, probably not. But he behaved himself there. He handled
- 22:21Speaker 1: himself pretty well there. And you'll see the picture. It's
- 22:25Speaker 1: going viral. He did shake hands with Rudy Giuliani, knowing
- 22:29Speaker 1: photographers were going to photograph that. Hey, when we come back,
- 22:33Speaker 1: Charles Payne, I don't know where he was.
- 22:36Speaker 3: On 9-11.
- 22:37Speaker 1: Well, we'll ask him. He'll be the great Charles Payne,
- 22:39Speaker 1: the brilliant guy from Fox Business. He's got a new
- 22:42Speaker 1: book out. But people have made a fortune watching Charles Payne. Anyway,
- 22:47Speaker 1: we'll talk to him next on 710WOR. From the WOR
- 22:52Speaker 1: Life Vac Studios, this is the Mark Simone Show. Well,
- 23:01Speaker 1: it's the 25th anniversary of 9-11. It's hard to believe
- 23:05Speaker 1: it's 25 years later. It's a date I don't want
- 23:10Speaker 1: to remember. It's a day you don't want to think about.
- 23:12Speaker 1: It's a day you don't want to go through again.
- 23:15Speaker 1: But it was just such a horrible day. But important
- 23:17Speaker 1: to remember. And 25 years later, we look back on it.
- 23:20Speaker 1: As I said, they still do this in Pearl Harbor
- 23:23Speaker 1: still today, 85 years later. Hey, with us right now,
- 23:26Speaker 1: Charles Payne. Now, there's nobody smarter when it comes to money, investing, stocks.
- 23:32Speaker 1: He's on the Fox Business Network every day from 2
- 23:35Speaker 1: to 3. It's called Making Money. You can make a
- 23:37Speaker 1: lot of money watching him every day. But he's also
- 23:40Speaker 1: written some great books that have helped people make big
- 23:44Speaker 1: amounts of money. And he's got a new book out,
- 23:46Speaker 1: How to Find the One Stock That Could Change Your Life.
- 23:50Speaker 1: Charles Payne's new book, How to Find the One Stock
- 23:53Speaker 1: That Could Change Your Life. Windfall Formula. It shows you
- 23:58Speaker 1: just what to do. He's with us right now. Charles Payne,
- 24:01Speaker 1: how you doing?
- 24:03Speaker 3: I'm doing so good, Mark. Well, the official name of
- 24:06Speaker 3: the book is Undeniable Windfalls. Oh, okay. Yeah, Undeniable Windfalls.
- 24:13Speaker 3: Here's the thing. Think about this. Almost everybody's got Apple
- 24:16Speaker 3: on their 401k, but not everyone's 401k is worth a
- 24:19Speaker 3: million bucks. So there's a couple of things, right? You've
- 24:23Speaker 3: got to be able to find these things, but also
- 24:25Speaker 3: intentionally make the big investment. And people are afraid because
- 24:28Speaker 3: Wall Street tells you, hey, you know, be over-diversified. Be
- 24:32Speaker 3: happy with 8%, you know, this kind of stuff. And
- 24:36Speaker 3: all of it makes a lot of money for them
- 24:38Speaker 3: and hedges them. But ultimately, I've created several ways of
- 24:42Speaker 3: locating these ideas, whether it's broken IPOs. And by the way,
- 24:47Speaker 3: I use examples of my own account, like General Electric,
- 24:49Speaker 3: you know, after... You know, for a while, the company
- 24:53Speaker 3: lost its way. They brought in a new CEO. He
- 24:56Speaker 3: did certain things. And so there's a checklist of what
- 24:58Speaker 3: you want to watch. And now, of course, if you
- 25:00Speaker 3: bought it, if you load it up on that thing,
- 25:02Speaker 3: it's been a monster windfall. So it's Undeniable Windfalls.
- 25:05Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a new book. You should get it. You'll
- 25:07Speaker 1: make a lot of money. Undeniable Windfalls. The book's out already.
- 25:10Speaker 1: We can get it now. It's out.
- 25:12Speaker 3: In fact, you know, just all they have to do
- 25:13Speaker 3: is go to UndeniableWindfalls.com. The book is free. People pay
- 25:17Speaker 3: for their own postage and handling. But the book is
- 25:20Speaker 3: absolutely free. And it's shattering all my records, man. It's
- 25:24Speaker 3: flying off. People are doing great with it. And, you know,
- 25:30Speaker 3: for me, it's humbling. I was in London last weekend.
- 25:35Speaker 3: Three separate occasions, people came up, made money with you.
- 25:38Speaker 3: I was in Scotland a couple weeks ago at St.
- 25:42Speaker 4: Andrews.
- 25:42Speaker 3: You know, a guy runs up to me, I made
- 25:44Speaker 3: money with him. Even today, I was at the firehouse
- 25:46Speaker 3: that lost the most amount of money. firefighters on 9-11
- 25:49Speaker 3: and a couple of people mentioned and I'm like, thanks,
- 25:52Speaker 3: you know, but it's, it's a beautiful thing, man. And
- 25:55Speaker 3: the good news is that the window of opportunity is
- 25:57Speaker 3: going to be open. I think for at least another
- 25:59Speaker 3: three to five years.
- 26:00Speaker 1: Yeah. Undeniable windfalls is the book. Go to undeniable windfalls.com. Hey,
- 26:06Speaker 1: you were talking about obviously 9-11 all morning. I forgot
- 26:10Speaker 1: to bring up the stock market obviously closed and it
- 26:15Speaker 1: was a frightening period because everybody thought when it, it
- 26:17Speaker 1: would plunge like 10,000 points or something. But who was it?
- 26:21Speaker 1: Was it Dick Grasso that brilliantly led us through that?
- 26:24Speaker 3: Yeah, he was so amazing. Oh, my goodness. He was just,
- 26:29Speaker 3: you know, I'm getting goosebumps right now, man, just talking
- 26:32Speaker 3: to you about this. But he was amazing. It was
- 26:35Speaker 3: an amazing show of solidarity. And it was interesting because
- 26:38Speaker 3: after that, almost every time there was a headline terror event,
- 26:43Speaker 3: the market went up instead of going down. It's sort
- 26:45Speaker 3: of like, listen, we know what you want to do.
- 26:47Speaker 3: You know, we know that the stock market is sort
- 26:48Speaker 3: of a proxy for America's greatness, and you're just not
- 26:51Speaker 3: going to succeed. You're not going to do that to us.
- 26:54Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 26:55Speaker 1: Yeah, it was an amazing period there. I mean, Grasso,
- 26:58Speaker 1: brilliant to it. And obviously, there was no Fox Business
- 27:01Speaker 1: Network 25 years ago. What were you doing then? Well,
- 27:05Speaker 1: here's the irony.
- 27:06Speaker 3: So I have my own business, and my business was,
- 27:09Speaker 3: and I still do, of course, you know, doing the
- 27:10Speaker 3: hotline and writing the books. But My office was one
- 27:14Speaker 3: block away from really where all the, you know, I
- 27:17Speaker 3: was down at 50 Broadway. And so my gym was like,
- 27:21Speaker 3: my gym was closed. It was one block from the
- 27:23Speaker 3: World Trade Center. I was on my way to CNN
- 27:27Speaker 3: that day, CNN FM, that morning. So I'm on the
- 27:30Speaker 3: road with my wife on the West Side Highway, and
- 27:33Speaker 3: I'm seeing all these fire trucks going on the other side,
- 27:36Speaker 3: you know, the uptown side going downtown. And my initial
- 27:39Speaker 3: assumption was, you know, this must be the biggest pileup
- 27:42Speaker 3: in the world. I've never seen this, you know, this many,
- 27:44Speaker 3: you know, first responders. And so I get to CNN,
- 27:48Speaker 3: take the elevator up, and they say, yeah, a plane
- 27:49Speaker 3: hit the World Trade Center. So initially I'm thinking, a
- 27:53Speaker 3: prop plane? You know, no, it was a passenger plane.
- 27:56Speaker 3: And at their location, they had a giant window, like
- 27:59Speaker 3: a 100-foot window. You could see the entire city. And
- 28:02Speaker 3: right at that moment, the next plane went into the
- 28:04Speaker 3: building and to the world trade and you know I
- 28:07Speaker 3: just I left man I went and got my son
- 28:09Speaker 3: then I went and got my daughter and I went
- 28:11Speaker 3: home but it was just amazing you know.
- 28:14Speaker 1: Yeah wow so we're talking with Charles Payne get his
- 28:16Speaker 1: new book Undeniable Windfalls how to pick that one stock
- 28:20Speaker 1: how to really really succeed with it undeniablewindfall.com undeniablewindfalls.com hey
- 28:30Speaker 1: let me just ask AI all we heard is going
- 28:32Speaker 1: to put everybody out of work nobody will have a
- 28:33Speaker 1: job AI will take over everything Yet just the opposite
- 28:36Speaker 1: has happened. Employment is up. Why is that?
- 28:41Speaker 3: You know, this is the fourth industrial revolution. And this
- 28:47Speaker 3: has always happened, every industrial revolution, from the very first
- 28:50Speaker 3: one when they had the first weaving machines in Great Britain.
- 28:54Speaker 3: You know, there was like, well, you know, you had
- 28:56Speaker 3: these big, big giant rooms of women weaving and clothes together.
- 29:00Speaker 3: All of a sudden you have this looming machines that
- 29:02Speaker 3: can do the work of like 30 women weaving. And,
- 29:04Speaker 3: you know, people, there was a guy named Ned Ludd
- 29:06Speaker 3: who went and one day him and some folks went
- 29:08Speaker 3: and they broke up all the machines, right? And ever
- 29:11Speaker 3: since then, they called people who were afraid of technology Luddites.
- 29:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 29:15Speaker 3: So some of this is just naturally, you know, Luddites.
- 29:18Speaker 3: And there's so much common sense. I mean, listen, we
- 29:20Speaker 3: do know, if you look at some of the things
- 29:22Speaker 3: that are happening now with some of these college grads,
- 29:25Speaker 3: AI has taken their jobs. But Ned Ludd, and I
- 29:28Speaker 3: got to tell you, this blew my mind because It
- 29:30Speaker 3: was in The Economist. They hate President Trump. They will
- 29:33Speaker 3: never do anything to give him a compliment. But last week,
- 29:36Speaker 3: they acknowledged that so far, if you trace AI jobs...
- 29:39Speaker 3: that have been lost, it's about 200,000. And AI jobs
- 29:42Speaker 3: that have been gained, it's 1 million. And so, you know,
- 29:46Speaker 3: if this industrial revolution is like all the rest, when
- 29:50Speaker 3: the dust settles, we'll have more jobs, better paying jobs,
- 29:53Speaker 3: and humanity will be better off.
- 29:55Speaker 1: Yeah, and five years from now, the data center will
- 29:57Speaker 1: not be something we'd be afraid of. It'll operate quietly
- 30:00Speaker 1: with quieter turbines and all. Will that be the case? Oh, yeah, absolutely.
- 30:05Speaker 3: It's going to be less than five years. Right now,
- 30:10Speaker 3: I've been interviewing a bunch of mayors from these towns.
- 30:12Speaker 3: It's already an economic godsend for these places where... You know,
- 30:19Speaker 3: the population was like 20 years ago, there were 3,000
- 30:22Speaker 3: people there, and now there's 800. You know, these kind
- 30:24Speaker 3: of places where the last thing they care about is
- 30:27Speaker 3: a little extra noise. You know, they're dying, they're in
- 30:29Speaker 3: death's bed, and all of a sudden, you know, you've
- 30:31Speaker 3: got 2,000 construction jobs. And then when that's over, after
- 30:35Speaker 3: a few years, you'll have at least 300 or 400
- 30:37Speaker 3: permanent jobs. They'll create their own energy source, and they'll
- 30:41Speaker 3: have extra energy, actually. They'll have enough to put it
- 30:44Speaker 3: back into the system. Uh, so the utility costs are
- 30:47Speaker 3: going to go down, not up. So it's just, you know,
- 30:50Speaker 3: it's that they're giving it the same treatment that they
- 30:52Speaker 3: gave natural gas and fracking, uh, you know, the, the
- 30:56Speaker 3: same treatment they gave to, Hey, we need to stop
- 30:59Speaker 3: having babies in this country. Uh, you know, it's the
- 31:02Speaker 3: same sort of treatment that we've seen over and over
- 31:04Speaker 3: again for advancement. And I think this one is extra
- 31:06Speaker 3: special because, you know, they hate the fact that too,
- 31:09Speaker 3: how we started this conversation that Trump is getting so
- 31:11Speaker 3: much credit for these blue collar jobs, not only jobs.
- 31:14Speaker 3: But blue-collar wages are going through the roof.
- 31:17Speaker 1: Wow. Hey, Charles Payne has a new book out, and
- 31:19Speaker 1: you should get it. It's called Undeniable Windfalls. Undeniable Windfalls.
- 31:24Speaker 1: Just finding that one stock that could change your life.
- 31:26Speaker 1: You can go to UndeniableWindfalls.com. UndeniableWindfalls.com. There are a lot
- 31:32Speaker 1: of stories like that where somebody just had this one stock,
- 31:35Speaker 1: maybe Berkshire Hathaway a million years ago, or just became
- 31:38Speaker 1: millionaires off one stock. Is that what inspired you?
- 31:41Speaker 3: Well, yeah. But as far as it was my own experience, really,
- 31:46Speaker 3: you know, I kind of went, you know, everything I
- 31:51Speaker 3: do and everything I've done is just me learning on
- 31:54Speaker 3: the job, so to speak, right, and being introspective. And,
- 31:57Speaker 3: you know, over the last few years, I would glance
- 31:59Speaker 3: up and see a stock go across the tape, you know, wow,
- 32:03Speaker 3: XYZ is $ 140 a share. Let me see when I
- 32:06Speaker 3: sold this thing. And you look back and you're like, what?
- 32:10Speaker 3: And then you think, why did I sell it then?
- 32:13Speaker 3: Like Taser. You know the Tasers?
- 32:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:15Speaker 3: So I think I must have made, I think I
- 32:17Speaker 3: bought Taser. I made 40% on it in about a month. Wow.
- 32:22Speaker 3: That's a lot of money, right? In a month?
- 32:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:24Speaker 3: So it changed its name in about, if I'd have
- 32:27Speaker 3: held it for another, let's say, four or five years.
- 32:29Speaker 3: Let's say I put $ 100 into it and I took
- 32:32Speaker 3: out $ 140. That same $ 100 would have been something on
- 32:35Speaker 3: it like $ 50, 000. In other words, I missed thousands of percent.
- 32:39Speaker 3: Thousands of percent. And why? Why?
- 32:43Speaker 1: Why?
- 32:43Speaker 3: I kept asking myself, why am I doing this? Why
- 32:47Speaker 3: do we do this? And how can we avoid it?
- 32:49Speaker 3: So I spent over a year writing the book, but
- 32:52Speaker 3: I spent many years pondering this and taking notes for it. Wow.
- 32:55Speaker 1: So everywhere they hear these stories and they say, well,
- 32:58Speaker 1: there must be another one of these out there. Well,
- 32:59Speaker 1: this is how you can help. This will help you
- 33:01Speaker 1: find it. It's a great book. It's called Undeniable Windfalls,
- 33:05Speaker 1: Charles Payne's new book, How to Find That Kind of
- 33:08Speaker 1: a Stock. Undeniable Windfalls. You can go to a, Just
- 33:11Speaker 1: go to the website and get it. It's free, right?
- 33:13Speaker 1: It's a free book?
- 33:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 33:15Speaker 1: Just pay for the shipping. Go to undeniablewindfalls.com. Undeniablewindfalls.com. And
- 33:24Speaker 1: make sure you watch Charles Payne every weekday, 2 o'clock.
- 33:27Speaker 1: He's great on the Fox Business Network. Charles Payne, great
- 33:30Speaker 1: talking to you. Let's do it again soon.
- 33:32Speaker 3: Man, I miss you, Mark. You are so good. You're
- 33:36Speaker 3: so gracious, and that's why people love you.
- 33:38Speaker 1: Thanks. Well, you too. Thanks. We'll do it again.
- 33:40Speaker 3: All right, buddy.
- 33:41Speaker 1: Thanks for being with us.
- 33:42Speaker 3: All right, thanks.
- 33:42Speaker 1: Take care. Hey, it's the 25th anniversary of 9-11. We'll
- 33:48Speaker 1: talk about it throughout the day. Coming up at noon,
- 33:51Speaker 1: Buck and Clay, and then at 3 o'clock, the most
- 33:54Speaker 1: listened to radio show in America, Sean Hannity. He does
- 33:59Speaker 1: this national radio show that became the biggest show in America. Well,
- 34:03Speaker 1: it began, the first show was September 10th, 2001. Second
- 34:08Speaker 1: day of the show was 9-11, so I'm sure he'll
- 34:10Speaker 1: talk about that today. Then you got Jesse Kelly at 6,
- 34:14Speaker 1: and you got the very funny Jimmy Fallon, 9 o'clock.
- 34:18Speaker 1: And I'm here 9 to noon. It's three hours every day,
- 34:20Speaker 1: 9 to noon. And, of course, right before me, it's
- 34:24Speaker 1: Curtis Sliwa and Larry Menti on 710WOR. On 710WOR, this
- 34:29Speaker 1: is the Mark Simone Show. Well, it's the day I
- 34:36Speaker 1: hate every year. We have to look back on that
- 34:39Speaker 1: horrible day, 9-11, but it's 25 years later. Hard to believe.
- 34:44Speaker 1: You know, if you're a college kid today, it was
- 34:48Speaker 1: before you were born. You know, like when we'd hear
- 34:51Speaker 1: about Pearl Harbor, it was something so far in the past.
- 34:54Speaker 1: We weren't alive when it was there. So for many
- 34:56Speaker 1: college kids today, it's something they didn't go through. But
- 35:01Speaker 1: important to remember it every year. One of the... Those
- 35:05Speaker 1: lost in the World Trade Center. The granddaughter spoke, and
- 35:07Speaker 1: she said, we'll never forget. Most important thing, never forget. Hey, otherwise,
- 35:13Speaker 1: it's going to be a nice day today. It'll be sunny.
- 35:14Speaker 1: It'll be about 80. Should be nice all weekend. It's
