- 0:03Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Outspoken. It's your dose of the
- 0:06Speaker 1: hottest influencer and pop culture.
- 0:08Speaker 2: News twice a week. I'm Amy Torber. I'm Kate Torber.
- 0:11Speaker 2: And I'm Sophie Torber.
- 0:12Speaker 1: And coming up on today's show, Anna Paul's attempt at
- 0:16Speaker 1: a redemption arc backfires, the Suave Activewear PR disaster, and
- 0:21Speaker 1: Jason Donovan's.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Ultimate kick to the dick.
- 0:24Speaker 1: But first, Mitch Orville has shared a cryptic post that
- 0:27Speaker 1: points to the reason behind his rumored breakup with Chloe Zepp.
- 0:31Speaker 1: The OG influencer shared a quote to his Instagram story
- 0:34Speaker 1: that read, Normalize not forcing connections with people. If someone
- 0:38Speaker 1: doesn't see the value in having you by their side,
- 0:41Speaker 1: don't try to convince them. Now, this update, of course,
- 0:44Speaker 1: comes after the pair have unfollowed each other on social
- 0:47Speaker 1: media and removed photos together. There are now also rumors
- 0:51Speaker 1: floating around that they have put their Newcastle home on
- 0:53Speaker 1: the market. So Chloe and Mitch only made the move
- 0:56Speaker 1: to Newcastle from the Gold Coast in June last year.
- 1:00Speaker 1: And it was all a part of this plan to
- 1:01Speaker 1: step back from social media and live regular lives. So
- 1:05Speaker 1: Chloe closed down her activewear brand Zep and Mitch started
- 1:07Speaker 1: a nine to five job as a carer.
- 1:09Speaker 2: It was actually.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Influencer Updates AU that broke the news. So she revealed
- 1:14Speaker 1: she got a tip off that someone had spotted the
- 1:16Speaker 1: Influencer's home advertised at a local real estate company.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Apparently, it's not listed online.
- 1:22Speaker 1: They have had a really interesting relationship when it comes
- 1:24Speaker 1: to realestate.com because the first time they purchased a home
- 1:28Speaker 1: on the Gold Coast, they shared a photo with them
- 1:30Speaker 1: in front of the sold sign. And even though they
- 1:32Speaker 1: tried to conceal the exact location and some identifying features,
- 1:36Speaker 1: a lot of followers were able to quickly ascertain exactly
- 1:39Speaker 1: where they lived. It made them feel really unsafe. They
- 1:42Speaker 1: actually ended up having a home invasion in that home
- 1:46Speaker 1: They then went on to sell that house and did
- 1:48Speaker 1: this huge PR campaign trying to drum up as much
- 1:51Speaker 1: attention as they could. I mean, I remember there was
- 1:54Speaker 1: a Channel 9 reporter who did this walkthrough of the home.
- 1:57Speaker 2: She went through their infamous movie room.
- 2:00Speaker 1: It was quite funny at the time because it just
- 2:01Speaker 1: seemed in polar opposite for them calling for privacy and
- 2:05Speaker 1: then them having this huge orchestrated marketing campaign around the
- 2:08Speaker 1: sale of their home. Well, it makes sense in this
- 2:10Speaker 1: case why they're trying to keep things private. Obviously, they
- 2:13Speaker 1: don't really want to be advertising the fact that they've
- 2:15Speaker 1: broken up It's interesting because Mitch Orville's dad, Mark, better
- 2:19Speaker 1: known as Angry Dad, actually has his own real estate
- 2:21Speaker 1: company called Orville Real Estate. And he's not the one
- 2:24Speaker 1: selling this property, which adds more fuel to the fire
- 2:27Speaker 1: that this is a nasty breakup behind the scenes. I mean,
- 2:30Speaker 1: it's already been spotted that Chloe has unfollowed Mitch's family.
- 2:33Speaker 2: It's quite sad. They were very close.
- 2:36Speaker 1: I think it's best to have a real estate agent
- 2:38Speaker 1: who's removed from the situation because at the end of
- 2:40Speaker 1: the day, if Mark Orville didn't end up getting the
- 2:43Speaker 1: price that Chloe.
- 2:44Speaker 2: Wanted, it could make things awkward.
- 2:46Speaker 1: You know, maybe she thinks that there's someone, a real
- 2:48Speaker 1: estate company that's better suited to the job.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Let's be real.
- 2:50Speaker 1: It comes down to the fact that Chloe and Mitch
- 2:53Speaker 1: don't want all of this attention on the sale of
- 2:55Speaker 1: their house.
- 2:56Speaker 2: It's very awkward.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Mark's campaigns are in your face. He's always in the content.
- 3:00Speaker 1: He's like jumping in pools, that kind of stuff.
- 3:02Speaker 2: What's he meant to say?
- 3:03Speaker 1: Oh, this is my son's house that he's now selling
- 3:05Speaker 1: and he's split from his wife. Like it's not the
- 3:08Speaker 1: sort of stuff he'd want to be doing.
- 3:09Speaker 2: Fiance, please, Amy.
- 3:12Speaker 3: I took a video of someone in the gym just
- 3:13Speaker 3: doing their thing and it was thoughtless and stupid and
- 3:16Speaker 3: to be honest, it never should have happened.
- 3:18Speaker 1: A Perth couple has given a masterclass in how not
- 3:21Speaker 1: to respond in a PR crisis.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Connor Wright was forced.
- 3:25Speaker 1: To apologise after backlash erupted over a video his wife
- 3:29Speaker 1: Chloe posted to social media. However, after issuing two public apologies,
- 3:34Speaker 1: the popular content creator doubled down calling his naysayers bullies. Now, Soph,
- 3:39Speaker 1: before we get into the drama, can you give listeners
- 3:41Speaker 1: a rundown on who Connor and Chloe Wright are? Yeah, well,
- 3:44Speaker 1: they are founders of activewear brand Suave Activewear, and they
- 3:49Speaker 1: launched the brand in 2023 off the back of their
- 3:51Speaker 1: social media careers. So Connor is a FIFO worker and
- 3:56Speaker 1: has almost half a million followers on TikTok. while Chloe
- 3:59Speaker 1: is a dermal therapist with around 135,000 followers. Now, all
- 4:04Speaker 1: of this drama started when Chloe posted a video of
- 4:07Speaker 1: a man using a rowing machine at a gym to
- 4:10Speaker 1: her Snapchat without his knowledge. So in the vision, Chloe
- 4:13Speaker 1: mocked the man's rowing technique, writing, turns out we have
- 4:16Speaker 1: been doing the rower wrong all these years. Now, understandably,
- 4:20Speaker 1: people were pretty upset to see the owner of an
- 4:22Speaker 1: activewear brand making fun of someone at the gym.
- 4:24Speaker 2: I mean, it's a pretty bizarre move.
- 4:26Speaker 1: When you consider an activewear brand's marketing hinges on making
- 4:30Speaker 1: people feel inspired and comfortable to go to the gym.
- 4:33Speaker 1: And I think this is people's worst fear. Like if
- 4:35Speaker 1: you're a newbie to a gym, often you feel really self-conscious, like,
- 4:39Speaker 1: am I doing this right? Like, is someone going to
- 4:41Speaker 1: pay me out? And especially when these two have been
- 4:44Speaker 1: quite motivational online, like they've given across this image that
- 4:47Speaker 1: they're welcoming.
- 4:48Speaker 2: And all of this. It just blows my mind because
- 4:51Speaker 2: these are people in the fitness space.
- 4:53Speaker 1: So they would be well aware of TikTok videos where
- 4:57Speaker 1: people literally erupt if they're in the background of something accidentally. Like,
- 5:00Speaker 1: you know, when an influencer is trying to film themselves
- 5:02Speaker 1: and then people are in the background and they're like,
- 5:04Speaker 1: what a dickhead for including me in this. Like this
- 5:07Speaker 1: is actually, you've actually shot this person in a very
- 5:09Speaker 1: vulnerable state.
- 5:10Speaker 2: They've got no idea that they're being laughed at.
- 5:12Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 5:12Speaker 1: I mean, there's definitely etiquette around shooting in the gym.
- 5:15Speaker 1: I mean, the interesting thing is Chloe wasn't actually at
- 5:18Speaker 1: the gym herself. She was eating dinner in a restaurant
- 5:21Speaker 1: opposite a gym and filmed it through the window. Now, unsurprisingly,
- 5:25Speaker 1: this clip made its way to Tea Time, which is
- 5:27Speaker 1: a Facebook gossip forum. It also went viral after US
- 5:31Speaker 1: influencer Joey Swell shared it. And he's got around 5.3
- 5:35Speaker 1: million followers.
- 5:36Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 5:37Speaker 1: I mean, as soon as Joey got his hands on it,
- 5:39Speaker 1: I was like, this is not good for Connor and Chloe.
- 5:42Speaker 1: What adds an even more awkward element to this saga
- 5:45Speaker 1: is only a couple of weeks ago, Connor went viral
- 5:48Speaker 1: for asking his fellow business owners for advice. So he
- 5:52Speaker 1: shared that his business was struggling and he didn't know
- 5:54Speaker 1: how to fix it.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Well, this was not the solution.
- 5:57Speaker 5: No, no.
- 5:58Speaker 1: And he was instantly praised for being vulnerable. And he
- 6:02Speaker 1: received an outpouring of support and advice from people in
- 6:05Speaker 1: the business community, as well as his own activewear community.
- 6:09Speaker 1: And he ended up making another video saying things had
- 6:12Speaker 1: turned around and he thanked everyone for their support and
- 6:15Speaker 1: said that there had been an uptake in sales. Now,
- 6:18Speaker 1: some of those people who supported Connor and purchased from
- 6:21Speaker 1: Suave Activewear were off the back of this video, are
- 6:24Speaker 1: now calling for a refund.
- 6:26Speaker 2: They're saying they're not happy that they supported this business.
- 6:28Speaker 1: It just shows how quickly something can erupt on social
- 6:31Speaker 1: media and how one minute you can be a hero
- 6:33Speaker 1: and the next you're the villain. Now, Connor ended up
- 6:36Speaker 1: issuing a public apology on the activewear brand's TikTok. And
- 6:40Speaker 1: in the video, he was dressed in his work uniform
- 6:42Speaker 1: and spoke from his car. And he said he wanted
- 6:45Speaker 1: to wait until he was home with Chloe to make
- 6:47Speaker 1: the video together because she really wanted to apologize as well.
- 6:51Speaker 1: but he couldn't wait any longer to address the matter.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Let's take a listen to more of what he said.
- 6:57Speaker 6: I'm not on here to excuse the behavior. She understands
- 6:59Speaker 6: that what she did was wrong and she is truly sorry.
- 7:02Speaker 6: People think Suave's a big team and it's not. It's
- 7:04Speaker 6: just me and Chloe helps out. I am dealing with
- 7:07Speaker 6: business for the first time myself. It's my first time living.
- 7:10Speaker 6: It's her first time living. And in the public eye,
- 7:13Speaker 6: things hit differently and we really need to be more
- 7:15Speaker 6: cautious of what we post. Every single day I work
- 7:18Speaker 6: to take on the feedback of our community and continue
- 7:21Speaker 6: improving and making it a better product.
- 7:23Speaker 2: For you guys.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Now he went on and it really felt like he
- 7:27Speaker 1: was reading straight from chat GPT because he acknowledged that
- 7:30Speaker 1: for some people, the gym is a daunting place full
- 7:33Speaker 1: of judgment. And he said that it takes vulnerability to
- 7:36Speaker 1: go to the gym and that they understand that they
- 7:38Speaker 1: have violated that trust. He finished up by saying that
- 7:41Speaker 1: they were extremely sorry to have disappointed their community and
- 7:44Speaker 1: with a poor taste joke and said it's been a
- 7:46Speaker 1: major lesson and he hopes people can accept the apology.
- 7:50Speaker 2: Now, the video has.
- 7:51Speaker 1: Gone absolutely viral. At the time of recording, it has
- 7:54Speaker 1: 1.3 million views. This apology has been popping up all
- 7:58Speaker 1: over my For You page and it's gone international. There
- 8:00Speaker 1: are US content creators stitching it up and responding to it.
- 8:04Speaker 1: A lot of Australians have also done the same thing
- 8:07Speaker 1: and it really didn't get the response he was after.
- 8:09Speaker 1: If anything, it has fueled criticism further. A lot of
- 8:13Speaker 1: people were saying, well, where is Chloe? She should have
- 8:15Speaker 1: to apologize as well.
- 8:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:17Speaker 1: And what's confused a lot of people is why was
- 8:20Speaker 1: he suddenly claiming that he's the sole business owner? Because
- 8:23Speaker 1: Chloe has long been publicly presented as the co-founder of Suave.
- 8:28Speaker 1: I mean, she's listed on the brand's website as the co-founder,
- 8:32Speaker 1: as well as on the brand's TikTok. What do you
- 8:34Speaker 1: think of the comment about, oh, it's our first time
- 8:36Speaker 1: living because that copped a lot of criticism?
- 8:38Speaker 2: I mean, it's everyone's first time living. I mean, it
- 8:40Speaker 2: didn't even make sense. It's like, if you're going to apologize,
- 8:43Speaker 2: at least take accountability.
- 8:44Speaker 1: Now, two days later, Chloe fronted the cameras sharing a
- 8:48Speaker 1: 27 second apology to the brand's TikTok. And just like
- 8:52Speaker 1: Connor's video, Chloe's has since gone viral with 1.5 million views.
- 8:57Speaker 1: In the video, Chloe said the reason why her apology
- 9:00Speaker 1: was a few days late was because she needed to
- 9:02Speaker 1: stop and reflect.
- 9:04Speaker 2: She then said this. And to be honest, I owe
- 9:08Speaker 2: you all an apology.
- 9:09Speaker 3: I took a video of someone in the gym just
- 9:11Speaker 3: doing their thing and it was thoughtless and stupid. And
- 9:13Speaker 3: to be honest, it never should have happened. I'm sorry
- 9:15Speaker 3: to everyone that I offended and to the suave community.
- 9:17Speaker 3: I am really sorry for letting you guys down. I
- 9:19Speaker 3: will do better. The gym is a very vulnerable place
- 9:22Speaker 3: and I did violate that. I promise you I have
- 9:24Speaker 3: learned from this and I hope you guys can accept
- 9:26Speaker 3: my apology.
- 9:28Speaker 1: Now, despite this apology video only running for 27 seconds,
- 9:32Speaker 1: there were four editing cuts basically after each sentence. she
- 9:35Speaker 1: had to stop the camera and then read from her
- 9:37Speaker 1: script and say it again. It just made it seem
- 9:39Speaker 1: so disingenuous. I mean, this apology didn't do anything to
- 9:43Speaker 1: curb the backlash. It actually incited it more. A lot
- 9:46Speaker 1: of commenters called to boycott the brand while others dished
- 9:50Speaker 1: abuse towards Khloe. The top comment was, you owe us
- 9:53Speaker 1: an apology for those curtain bangs first, to be honest.
- 9:56Speaker 1: And that comment got over 5.6 thousand likes. I mean,
- 10:00Speaker 1: That is just not needed, those sorts of comments about
- 10:03Speaker 1: people's appearance.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Yeah, it is really unnecessary.
- 10:05Speaker 1: I mean, the comment that most people resonated with was
- 10:08Speaker 1: the most emotionless and robotic apology of 2026. That got
- 10:13Speaker 1: 31,000 likes.
- 10:15Speaker 2: My favorite comment on the post.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Was, sorry, Ben, which got 4.8 thousand likes. Now, for
- 10:21Speaker 1: those not across it, that is a quote from Summer
- 10:23Speaker 1: Heights High. I mean, I have to say, I understand
- 10:26Speaker 1: the feedback, not the personal attacks on Chloe, but It
- 10:29Speaker 1: did feel very emotionless. And I know people were calling
- 10:33Speaker 1: for Chloe to comment, but it really just demonstrated that
- 10:37Speaker 1: there was no internal alignment going on behind the scenes.
- 10:40Speaker 1: Because when you're in the midst of a PR crisis
- 10:43Speaker 1: like this, you really need to stick to one spokesperson
- 10:45Speaker 1: that has a clear message. And I think it would
- 10:48Speaker 1: have worked much better if they presented the apology like
- 10:51Speaker 1: they originally planned together.
- 10:53Speaker 7: Mm-hmm.
- 10:53Speaker 1: Because Chloe's apology then just really felt tacked on and insincere.
- 10:57Speaker 1: It was like very reactive because people were calling for
- 11:00Speaker 1: her to then say something. Well, if things couldn't get worse,
- 11:04Speaker 1: a few days later, Connor completely doubled down and essentially
- 11:08Speaker 1: reneged on his apology. I have to laugh because this
- 11:11Speaker 1: is probably one of the worst things I've ever seen
- 11:14Speaker 1: on TikTok. Let's take a listen to some of what
- 11:16Speaker 1: he said.
- 11:18Speaker 7: Alright motherfuckers, you asked for an apology, you got two
- 11:21Speaker 7: of them, it still wasn't fucking good enough, now I'm
- 11:23Speaker 7: gonna fucking bite back. You woke, left-tard, keyboard warrior motherfuckers,
- 11:29Speaker 7: sitting behind your fucking screens, on your little faceless profiles,
- 11:33Speaker 7: bullying away.
- 11:34Speaker 5: My wife filmed.
- 11:35Speaker 8: A fucking video that 80% of you would have filmed yourself,
- 11:39Speaker 8: it just would have ended up in a fucking group chat,
- 11:42Speaker 8: not like that dickhead and put on a main story.
- 11:44Speaker 8: while you all claim to be having the moral high
- 11:47Speaker 8: ground and making her take accountability for her actions, you
- 11:50Speaker 8: are fucking doing the exact same thing you are accusing
- 11:54Speaker 8: her of.
- 11:55Speaker 2: I actually burst out laughing when the video popped up
- 11:57Speaker 2: on my feed.
- 11:58Speaker 1: I genuinely thought it was satire because I've been having
- 12:01Speaker 1: a look at his TikTok and he posted all these
- 12:04Speaker 1: videos of like, oh, the other day I had this
- 12:07Speaker 1: really brave moment where I got up in front of
- 12:10Speaker 1: all of my workmates and did a speech and he
- 12:11Speaker 1: was talking about how vulnerable he was. And then I
- 12:13Speaker 1: was like, this is just in total conflict with this
- 12:17Speaker 1: image that you're trying to.
- 12:18Speaker 2: Put out there. It was very aggressive, wasn't it?
- 12:20Speaker 1: It kind of reminded me of when you absolutely crack
- 12:25Speaker 1: and someone should have just taken away his phone. Like
- 12:28Speaker 1: why was he allowed to have his phone and put
- 12:30Speaker 1: this out there?
- 12:30Speaker 2: Because the thing is, I get it. I get it.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Like some of the points he made were correct. Two
- 12:35Speaker 1: wrongs don't make a right. Like if someone stuffs up
- 12:38Speaker 1: on the internet, It doesn't mean you can go tell
- 12:40Speaker 1: them to kill themselves and.
- 12:41Speaker 2: Bully them relentlessly.
- 12:42Speaker 1: But it was the delivery was so off. It's like
- 12:45Speaker 1: you can't call people fucktards or whatever. Yeah, to your point, Amy,
- 12:50Speaker 1: Connor went on to share screenshots of countless troll messages
- 12:53Speaker 1: that he and Chloe had received since this all went down.
- 12:57Speaker 1: I couldn't believe the bit of the video when Connor
- 13:00Speaker 1: went and called out this content creator called James. So
- 13:03Speaker 1: James owns his own activewear company called Elite Lifewear. And
- 13:07Speaker 1: Connor said, in business, you learn something called trademarking. And
- 13:10Speaker 1: then went on to claim that he had actually trademarked
- 13:13Speaker 1: this man's business, Elite Lifewear Co, out of spite. He
- 13:18Speaker 1: then said, stay tuned for the cease and desist letter.
- 13:20Speaker 1: It's the best $ 250 I've ever spent.
- 13:23Speaker 2: I mean, this just reflects so poorly on Connor.
- 13:24Speaker 1: It makes it look like the initial apology was a
- 13:27Speaker 1: crock of shit and they didn't believe anything that they
- 13:28Speaker 1: were saying. And two, it kind of makes you question
- 13:31Speaker 1: the other vulnerable content that he's been putting out there
- 13:34Speaker 1: about being a better person and you know, inspiring others.
- 13:37Speaker 1: I mean, who wants to be spiteful like that and
- 13:40Speaker 1: try and ruin someone else's business? Yeah, I mean, all
- 13:42Speaker 1: this video did was prove Connor and Chloe's naysayers right
- 13:45Speaker 1: in saying that the apology was disingenuous. I mean, when
- 13:48Speaker 1: it comes to public apologies, you actually need to demonstrate
- 13:51Speaker 1: that you've taken accountability and shown some corrective action.
- 13:55Speaker 2: I mean, this was the complete opposite of that.
- 13:57Speaker 1: He literally shirked all responsibility and painted themselves as the victims.
- 14:01Speaker 1: And I think the most awkward thing is that while
- 14:04Speaker 1: this was all going on, Connor and Chloe were posting
- 14:07Speaker 1: new videos as normal about packing orders on Suave Activewear's TikTok.
- 14:11Speaker 1: I mean, if I was their PR advisor, I would
- 14:12Speaker 1: have said, stop posting altogether, deal with this backlash, because
- 14:17Speaker 1: all it did was increase the criticism. Also, stop putting
- 14:19Speaker 1: out mixed messaging. One minute, we're so, so sorry. Next minute, oh,
- 14:23Speaker 1: fuck you. This is obviously fucking fake.
- 14:25Speaker 2: We gave you your apology.
- 14:26Speaker 1: You know, we typed how to apologize into chat GPT
- 14:30Speaker 1: and run it out.
- 14:30Speaker 2: What more do you want?
- 14:31Speaker 1: While I think this is a terrible PR strategy, The
- 14:34Speaker 1: thought crossed my mind, is he actually trying to target
- 14:37Speaker 1: a new audience? Because this backflip video really would appeal
- 14:42Speaker 1: to a certain demographic, right-winged people that are sick of,
- 14:45Speaker 1: you know, the woke community. Yeah, because he said something
- 14:48Speaker 1: at the end like, this is the new type of
- 14:51Speaker 1: content you'll be seeing from us.
- 14:52Speaker 2: Is he trying to tap into the Sabi audience? Well,
- 14:55Speaker 2: I think he probably thought.
- 14:56Speaker 1: We're never going to be able to change the mind
- 14:58Speaker 1: of the people who have been offended by this. So
- 15:00Speaker 1: let's just go all out there. Like we've got eyes
- 15:03Speaker 1: on our brand right now. Let's post this absolutely horrendous
- 15:07Speaker 1: message and see if we can get that side of
- 15:09Speaker 1: the internet to come over and buy our activewear.
- 15:12Speaker 2: I'm so fucking sick of this stupid bitch.
- 15:15Speaker 1: Anna Paul's latest attempt at a redemption arc has backfired.
- 15:19Speaker 1: More than a year on from her cancellation, the TikToker
- 15:22Speaker 1: tried to make light of the situation and But all
- 15:25Speaker 1: it did was reignite the controversy. Now, before we get
- 15:28Speaker 1: into the latest, can you.
- 15:30Speaker 2: Please give listeners a quick refresher on the scandal?
- 15:32Speaker 1: Well, early last year, Anna Paul faced major backlash after
- 15:36Speaker 1: her brother's ex-girlfriend, Michaela Tester, posted a viral video accusing
- 15:41Speaker 1: her of being fake, manipulative and misleading fans about her
- 15:45Speaker 1: upbringing and online persona. The controversy escalated when Michaela accused
- 15:50Speaker 1: her ex-boyfriend, Addis Paul, of emotional, financial, and sexual abuse
- 15:55Speaker 1: during their relationship. Now, Michaela then went on to accuse
- 15:59Speaker 1: Anna of enabling and defending her brother's behavior. I have
- 16:03Speaker 1: to put it out there, Addis and Anna publicly denied
- 16:05Speaker 1: the claims. But this was absolutely massive at the time.
- 16:09Speaker 1: It wasn't just a feud that played out on TikTok.
- 16:11Speaker 1: This made traditional media headlines for months, and it resulted
- 16:15Speaker 1: in Anna losing her nice girl persona. And also 1
- 16:19Speaker 1: million of her 7 million followers. Yeah, and the controversy
- 16:22Speaker 1: simmered down almost exactly a year ago. And since then,
- 16:25Speaker 1: Anna has continued to post quite normally. She's sort of
- 16:28Speaker 1: gone with the whole ignorance is bliss strategy until about
- 16:31Speaker 1: a month ago when she was forced to address backlash
- 16:34Speaker 1: during a TikTok live. So during the live, her comment
- 16:38Speaker 1: section was spammed with a bunch of derogatory comments and
- 16:41Speaker 1: allegations directed at her brother Addis. And Anna ended up
- 16:44Speaker 1: addressing a comment relating to a video from her OnlyFans
- 16:48Speaker 1: account that had resurfaced on Reddit. So in the vision,
- 16:51Speaker 1: Anna and Michaela were topless. And it appeared that Addis
- 16:55Speaker 1: was filming the video because a voice that sounded like
- 16:57Speaker 1: his was audible in the background. And the video seemingly
- 17:01Speaker 1: backed up Michaela's claim that Addis filmed some of Anna's
- 17:04Speaker 1: OnlyFans content.
- 17:05Speaker 2: So in the live, Anna said, are you showering with
- 17:07Speaker 2: your brother? I'm showering with him every single day. I'm
- 17:10Speaker 2: dating him. I'm actually dating my brother. Did you not
- 17:12Speaker 2: know this? That's so funny.
- 17:14Speaker 1: I kind of hate when she tries to be funny
- 17:16Speaker 1: about this as if she's in on the joke and
- 17:17Speaker 1: you're just like, look, no one's finding it funny.
- 17:20Speaker 2: Yeah. The joke is about incest. It's really not funny.
- 17:24Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:24Speaker 1: And you would have thought this whole TikTok live debacle
- 17:26Speaker 1: would have actually shown Anna, hey, the internet has not
- 17:29Speaker 1: actually forgotten or forgiven you, but clearly not because the
- 17:32Speaker 1: Since then, she's made two more reels mocking her cancellation.
- 17:36Speaker 2: So in the first reel, she jumped on that.
- 17:38Speaker 1: Top five horror movie TikTok trend where people list actual
- 17:42Speaker 1: life events as horror movies.
- 17:44Speaker 2: She wrote, one, it made me feel broke. Two, derealization.
- 17:48Speaker 1: Three, the waiter telling me I'm ordering too much. Four,
- 17:52Speaker 1: going away without my boyfriend. Five, Papa being homeless. I
- 17:57Speaker 1: don't think enough time has passed to be joking about
- 17:59Speaker 1: these sorts of things. Now, the top comment under the
- 18:02Speaker 1: video was, nah, it was my brother films my only face.
- 18:06Speaker 1: And that comment got over 15,000 likes. One of those
- 18:09Speaker 1: likes actually came from Anna herself. Maybe she thought I've
- 18:12Speaker 1: got to be in on the joke too. Yeah, I mean,
- 18:14Speaker 1: on that thread, someone else wrote, and you dating your
- 18:17Speaker 1: brother needs to be at the top, to which Anna
- 18:19Speaker 1: replied literally with three skull emojis. To make things even
- 18:23Speaker 1: more awkward, Anna's dad Hans also commented on the video writing,
- 18:27Speaker 1: ha ha ha, with a love heart, to which Anna replied, Papa,
- 18:30Speaker 1: get back to the Woolies car park.
- 18:32Speaker 2: How do you even have a phone? Oh my God.
- 18:36Speaker 2: This is so awkward.
- 18:37Speaker 1: I know as we've touched on, she's trying to look
- 18:39Speaker 1: like she's in on the joke. But I don't think
- 18:41Speaker 1: people want her to be in on it because people
- 18:44Speaker 1: think that there's truth to these statements. But there's such
- 18:48Speaker 1: big allegations as well and they're things that no one's
- 18:51Speaker 1: laughing about. You're meant to be taking this seriously, Anna.
- 18:55Speaker 1: She was apparently going away and learning from her mistakes
- 18:57Speaker 1: and all this shit and now you're just using it
- 18:59Speaker 1: as content to laugh about.
- 19:01Speaker 2: I mean the gaslighting didn't stop there.
- 19:03Speaker 1: So just last week she posted a video of her
- 19:05Speaker 1: lying on the couch with her cat while I think
- 19:08Speaker 1: it was her mum was stroking both of their heads
- 19:10Speaker 1: in the background. And it was captioned, I think I
- 19:12Speaker 1: need a PowerPoint on my own law. I'm a viewer too.
- 19:16Speaker 2: What did Anna Paul do and why is it everything?
- 19:18Speaker 1: She added the skull emoji. Now, in all due respect, Anna,
- 19:22Speaker 1: you don't actually need a PowerPoint. You need to listen
- 19:24Speaker 1: to Outspoken. We have episodes in February to April that
- 19:27Speaker 1: cover it all. Or alternatively, Michaela Tester put out a,
- 19:30Speaker 1: I think it was like 10 hour podcast series called
- 19:33Speaker 1: Unsaid that's also available on YouTube. I don't like the
- 19:36Speaker 1: way that she's speaking about herself in third person as well.
- 19:39Speaker 1: Like Anna Paul, as if she's, you know, it in
- 19:42Speaker 1: a bit. Like, I don't know, that just rubs me
- 19:44Speaker 1: up the wrong way. And it is downplaying the allegations
- 19:47Speaker 1: against her.
- 19:48Speaker 2: I don't think she's trying to be big headed.
- 19:50Speaker 1: I think it's more about trying to detach herself away
- 19:53Speaker 1: from this character that she's saying people have invented of her. Now, unsurprisingly,
- 19:59Speaker 1: this video was swiftly deleted, but it didn't stop it
- 20:01Speaker 1: from being reshared across TikTok. And since then, Anna's post
- 20:05Speaker 1: moderators have been working in overdrive, but it seems like
- 20:08Speaker 1: they're not even quick enough to stop the spam, which
- 20:11Speaker 1: includes people posting a screenshot of her from the OnlyFans
- 20:15Speaker 1: video that resurfaced that Addis Paul allegedly filmed. Now, Michaela
- 20:19Speaker 1: was quick to respond to Anna's video. In a TikTok,
- 20:22Speaker 1: which has now racked up 6.4 million views, she said this.
- 20:28Speaker 2: I'm so fucking sick of this stupid bitch. Seriously, shut
- 20:30Speaker 2: the fuck up.
- 20:31Speaker 1: You posting about this shit like it's anything other than
- 20:34Speaker 1: a joke is so insulting to all of your brother's victims.
- 20:38Speaker 2: This is how sisters speak.
- 20:39Speaker 1: I know that they weren't actually really sister-in-laws, but I
- 20:41Speaker 1: just love the shut the fuck up.
- 20:43Speaker 2: You know what I mean? Just the absolute calling her
- 20:45Speaker 2: out of the bullshit. Like, shut up, bitch. It might
- 20:48Speaker 2: be how sisters speak, but not sister-in-laws.
- 20:50Speaker 1: No, I'm saying, yeah, but it's a very sister vibe
- 20:52Speaker 1: to be like, shut the fuck up. I know some
- 20:54Speaker 1: listeners might find Michaela's tone pretty aggressive. But to me,
- 20:58Speaker 1: it comes across as someone who is just so over it.
- 21:01Speaker 1: I mean, Michaela poured hours and hours of time into
- 21:05Speaker 1: putting out that series on YouTube, exposing Anna Paul. Not
- 21:09Speaker 1: only would it have taken time, but emotional distress to
- 21:11Speaker 1: talk about these serious allegations, incidents that didn't just allegedly
- 21:15Speaker 1: happen to her, but happened to other young people. And
- 21:18Speaker 1: to have this used as now internet fodder, like, I
- 21:23Speaker 1: can see why she's angry. I mean- She made a
- 21:25Speaker 1: really good point in this video as well. She said, look,
- 21:28Speaker 1: I've never been sued for defamation because every single thing
- 21:31Speaker 1: I've said was a fact. And she also said, all
- 21:33Speaker 1: you can do is laugh about it because it's so
- 21:35Speaker 1: fucking sick and twisted. I mean, let's call it for
- 21:38Speaker 1: what it is. It is completely disturbing that Anna Paul
- 21:42Speaker 1: appears to be mocking women who've publicly spoken out about
- 21:46Speaker 1: experiencing sexual abuse. The reality is Anna Paul's brother, Addis Paul,
- 21:51Speaker 1: was sentenced in 2023 over statutory rape offences. He pleaded
- 21:57Speaker 1: guilty to three charges of carnal knowledge of a girl
- 22:00Speaker 1: aged between 12 and 16.
- 22:01Speaker 2: Now, for context, carnal.
- 22:03Speaker 1: Knowledge is a legal term that refers to sexual intercourse
- 22:06Speaker 1: with someone below the age of consent. In Queensland, where
- 22:10Speaker 1: he's from, the age of consent is 16. And legally,
- 22:13Speaker 1: someone under that age cannot consent because they are considered
- 22:16Speaker 1: incapable of making an informed decision in that situation. Now,
- 22:19Speaker 1: the incidents he pled guilty to occurred between December 2017
- 22:23Speaker 1: and October 2018 when Addis was aged between 16 and 17. Now,
- 22:28Speaker 1: despite pleading guilty, no conviction was formally recorded. Instead, he
- 22:32Speaker 1: was placed on a 12-month good behavior bond and paid
- 22:34Speaker 1: some fines for compensation. And because no conviction was recorded,
- 22:40Speaker 1: Addis is not listed.
- 22:41Speaker 2: On the sex offender registry.
- 22:43Speaker 1: Well, since then, Addis Paul's ex-girlfriend, Alice Patterson, has publicly
- 22:47Speaker 1: confirmed that she was the victim in that case. Late
- 22:50Speaker 1: last week, she responded to Anna's TikToks saying this.
- 22:55Speaker 5: Hey, I was the first victim of your brother that
- 22:56Speaker 5: you tried to silence online. I don't know if you remember,
- 22:58Speaker 5: so I'll just quickly recap it for you.
- 23:00Speaker 1: You made a.
- 23:00Speaker 5: 50 minute long video about me lying, saying that I
- 23:03Speaker 5: was a compulsive liar, saying that I was crazy. You
- 23:05Speaker 5: let all of your fans come and send me, hey,
- 23:06Speaker 5: I had to drop out of school. I got bullied
- 23:08Speaker 5: by my entire grade because of the lies that you
- 23:10Speaker 5: told in that video. You called a 13 year old
- 23:12Speaker 5: me ugly.
- 23:14Speaker 1: I really love that she's found her voice in all
- 23:16Speaker 1: of this because she was silenced by the Paul family
- 23:18Speaker 1: for so long. It's also really interesting because a lot
- 23:21Speaker 1: of what she's saying is Anna could actually sue her
- 23:25Speaker 1: for defamation, but it seems like Alice has been spurred
- 23:28Speaker 1: on by Michaela and the fact that Michaela was never
- 23:31Speaker 1: sued over the comments she made on YouTube. Yeah, I mean,
- 23:34Speaker 1: Alice has been speaking out ever since Michaela Testa originally
- 23:38Speaker 1: called Anna and Addis out last year and.
- 23:41Speaker 2: She hasn't stopped.
- 23:42Speaker 1: So she has a playlist on her TikTok dedicated to
- 23:45Speaker 1: documenting her experiences with the polls. Some of the videos
- 23:48Speaker 1: have over a million views. I mean, even just last week,
- 23:52Speaker 1: she did this review of the 50 minute video Anna
- 23:56Speaker 1: put out about her back in 2020. And in that video,
- 24:00Speaker 1: Anna incited her fans to bully the then teenager. She
- 24:04Speaker 1: actually revealed that the video was used against Addis in
- 24:06Speaker 1: the court case. And she said that she should have
- 24:08Speaker 1: sued them for releasing it because it was all lies.
- 24:11Speaker 2: But unfortunately, she didn't have the money at the time.
- 24:14Speaker 1: Getting back to Anna's videos, I am just baffled by
- 24:16Speaker 1: this PR strategy. I don't understand how she ever thought
- 24:20Speaker 1: it would be okay to joke about such a serious situation.
- 24:24Speaker 1: And this has really backfired on her because all it
- 24:26Speaker 1: has done is invite Michaela and Alice to reshare their
- 24:30Speaker 1: stories and reignite the topic for debate. I think she
- 24:34Speaker 1: and her team must have been hoping that maybe people
- 24:36Speaker 1: had hit their limit on the topic and had sort
- 24:39Speaker 1: of got to the point where they would say to
- 24:41Speaker 1: Michaela and Alice, just get over it. I But promisingly,
- 24:46Speaker 1: people seem to be like, hang on a second and
- 24:48Speaker 1: pulling her up on it and being like, we have
- 24:50Speaker 1: not forgotten what has happened.
- 24:52Speaker 2: One person who hasn't forgotten is Veruca Salt.
- 24:54Speaker 1: She has been posting, I've got to say, some hilarious
- 24:58Speaker 1: TikToks about it.
- 24:59Speaker 2: And I say they're hilarious. We probably can't actually air
- 25:02Speaker 2: any of them because they're just so defamatory.
- 25:07Speaker 1: But then again, the whole smoking gun in this situation is,
- 25:11Speaker 1: if what all of these people are saying is untrue,
- 25:13Speaker 1: then why haven't the Paul family sued them? All of
- 25:17Speaker 1: this content is still up and readily available. I mean,
- 25:20Speaker 1: they both have enough, well, Anna has enough money to
- 25:22Speaker 1: do so. I mean, it's not like they have to
- 25:24Speaker 1: worry about receipts coming out. I mean, that's often what
- 25:26Speaker 1: stops people from going forward with the defamation cases. They
- 25:30Speaker 1: don't want their phone to be subpoenaed and all their
- 25:32Speaker 1: text messages to come out.
- 25:34Speaker 2: But I mean, Michaela Test has already revealed most of them.
- 25:38Speaker 2: Can we also take a moment for Jason Donovan saying,
- 25:42Speaker 2: oh yeah, Kylie and Michael, the next thing I knew.
- 25:46Speaker 5: They were heading into the bathroom together.
- 25:48Speaker 2: Bitch, I almost choked on my weak life.
- 25:51Speaker 1: This week, Kylie Minogue's docuseries dropped on Netflix, and I
- 25:55Speaker 1: think we all need to spare a thought for her
- 25:57Speaker 1: old boyfriend, Jason Donovan. He was an absolute standout on
- 26:00Speaker 1: this docuseries. He is, of course, the former Neighbours star,
- 26:03Speaker 1: who is now 57. And he admitted that he still
- 26:07Speaker 1: gets asked about Kylie on a daily basis.
- 26:10Speaker 2: Let's listen to what he said.
- 26:11Speaker 4: I mean, the amount of times I get into a
- 26:14Speaker 4: cab and someone will go, how's Kylie? And it's like, oh, fuck,
- 26:19Speaker 4: I don't fucking know. You go and ask fucking her.
- 26:22Speaker 4: And that, you know, it's not the disrespect to her.
- 26:26Speaker 4: It's just, come on, man. You know, that's a long
- 26:29Speaker 4: time ago.
- 26:31Speaker 2: I love that.
- 26:32Speaker 1: This was his opening line on the docuseries because as
- 26:35Speaker 1: soon as I heard it, I thought this guy is
- 26:37Speaker 1: going to give us the goods.
- 26:38Speaker 2: He's not holding back.
- 26:40Speaker 1: And it sounded like he was still a bit dirty
- 26:42Speaker 1: about the way things ended with Kylie, which we will
- 26:44Speaker 1: get into in a second. It's a strange move to
- 26:47Speaker 1: say I'm sick of being asked about her but then
- 26:48Speaker 1: appear on the doco.
- 26:50Speaker 2: He had to be. He's a big part of her
- 26:52Speaker 2: early years.
- 26:53Speaker 1: It would not have been the same without him though.
- 26:55Speaker 1: He made this documentary. I would have liked to have
- 26:58Speaker 1: seen those two reunite though. They actually have reunited since
- 27:02Speaker 1: at the premiere.
- 27:03Speaker 2: So they were posing for photos together.
- 27:04Speaker 1: I was Googling quite a bit while watching this. And
- 27:07Speaker 1: one of the first searches I did was, does Jason
- 27:10Speaker 1: Donovan have a wife?
- 27:11Speaker 2: And he does.
- 27:12Speaker 1: He's been married for 25 years and they have three
- 27:15Speaker 1: kids together. And he recently did an interview on Jamie
- 27:18Speaker 1: Lang's podcast. And he spoke about how hard it is
- 27:22Speaker 1: for his wife to continually have Kylie mentioned all the
- 27:25Speaker 1: time and I suppose be compared to her?
- 27:27Speaker 2: Oh, it would be absolutely awful.
- 27:29Speaker 1: Now, we need to get into some background about how
- 27:31Speaker 1: Kylie and Jason first met because I thought this was
- 27:34Speaker 1: pretty funny. Everyone thinks they first met on the set
- 27:36Speaker 1: of Neighbours, but it was actually when they were kids
- 27:39Speaker 1: on a show called Skyways where they were cast as
- 27:42Speaker 1: brother and sister. Yeah, except he didn't remember her. So
- 27:45Speaker 1: when Kylie Minogue came on set for Neighbours, she's like, oh, yeah,
- 27:48Speaker 1: we've met before.
- 27:49Speaker 2: And he's like, oh, I had no recollection. And then
- 27:51Speaker 2: he said, oh, it's because she had big buck teeth
- 27:54Speaker 2: as a child. And I was like, far out. This
- 27:56Speaker 2: guy's not holding back.
- 27:57Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 27:57Speaker 2: It was a bit rough. He's probably like, look, babe,
- 27:59Speaker 2: I've had to hear about you for 37 years.
- 28:01Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 28:01Speaker 2: And we've got to remember he was the star first.
- 28:04Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 28:04Speaker 2: He was on Neighbours first and she was.
- 28:06Speaker 1: This, you know, new character coming into the show. It
- 28:09Speaker 1: sounded like he never got over that, that he was
- 28:11Speaker 1: a big deal to begin with. And Kylie was the
- 28:14Speaker 1: nobody at the start. Well, they quickly became global icons
- 28:17Speaker 1: for their role. So they played on-screen sweetheart Scott and Charlene.
- 28:21Speaker 1: And it wasn't long before their romance transitioned off camera.
- 28:25Speaker 1: Kylie said at the time, the love story on the
- 28:27Speaker 1: show came first and then it became a real thing.
- 28:30Speaker 2: And they really were this squeaky clean it couple of
- 28:33Speaker 2: the time.
- 28:33Speaker 1: Jason admitted in the docuseries that he thought they were
- 28:37Speaker 1: destined to get married. Yeah, I loved all the inclusion
- 28:41Speaker 1: of the home videos. Because I was watching it with
- 28:43Speaker 1: Dale and I said they were the first vloggers. But
- 28:46Speaker 1: they were literally filming their holidays. I was thinking I'd
- 28:49Speaker 1: love to watch the whole thing. And you could tell
- 28:51Speaker 1: that Kylie had had it with.
- 28:53Speaker 2: Jason in some of the vision. He was like pissing her.
- 28:56Speaker 2: He was so jealous of her.
- 28:58Speaker 7: He was.
- 28:58Speaker 1: Well, I mean, I think the cracks really started appearing
- 29:00Speaker 1: when Kylie– made it big as a singer because he
- 29:03Speaker 1: was also trying to pursue a singing career, but it
- 29:05Speaker 1: really wasn't working for him. How funny when they went
- 29:08Speaker 1: to that excerpt of him, his video clip, and it
- 29:11Speaker 1: was like so evident that he was not a great singer.
- 29:15Speaker 1: I mean, the whole thing is I think he was
- 29:16Speaker 1: ultimately jealous of the fact that her music career was
- 29:19Speaker 1: going so well and his wasn't. But I also think
- 29:22Speaker 1: that he was scared that she was going to leave
- 29:25Speaker 1: him for someone else. And I mean, that exact scenario
- 29:28Speaker 1: came true. It's almost like he manifested it. And this
- 29:31Speaker 1: would have been a massive kick to the dick to
- 29:33Speaker 1: him because it was actually Jason who inadvertently set Kylie
- 29:37Speaker 1: up with the man that she would leave him for.
- 29:39Speaker 1: so she left him for rock god michael hutchins like
- 29:42Speaker 1: oh my god see i knew that kylie and michael
- 29:45Speaker 1: hutchins were together but i didn't realize they got together
- 29:48Speaker 1: so soon after she split with jason and the fact
- 29:52Speaker 1: that jason took her to the In Excess concert in 1988.
- 29:56Speaker 2: Well, you got the vibe there was a bit of crossover.
- 29:58Speaker 1: And it was really awkward because on the docu-series, Jason
- 30:01Speaker 1: was saying that Michael was exactly who he wanted to
- 30:05Speaker 1: be as a musician. And he really looked up to him.
- 30:09Speaker 1: And Michael ended up inviting them backstage. And Jason said
- 30:12Speaker 1: it was quite evident early on that Michael was not
- 30:15Speaker 1: interested in speaking to him at all.
- 30:17Speaker 2: He only had eyes for Kylie.
- 30:19Speaker 1: I think the best part of this is when Kylie
- 30:21Speaker 1: and Jason were retelling how they were driving in this
- 30:24Speaker 1: crappy car behind Michael's entourage and they were trying to
- 30:26Speaker 1: keep up with him to go to this after party.
- 30:29Speaker 2: We'll just set the scene.
- 30:30Speaker 1: The entourage were in like limos and they were driving
- 30:33Speaker 1: around in this tiny little white shit box. And you
- 30:35Speaker 1: would have been absolutely spewing because Michael ended up taking
- 30:39Speaker 1: Kylie into another room where they spent most of the
- 30:41Speaker 1: night chatting and he apparently claimed that he had some
- 30:44Speaker 1: sort of medicine that would help her recover.
- 30:46Speaker 2: Voice sustain the tour.
- 30:48Speaker 1: She was about to go on and she was like
- 30:49Speaker 1: oh yeah it was basically an excuse for them to
- 30:51Speaker 1: catch up at another time this actually reminds me of
- 30:56Speaker 1: Steph Clare Smith and Young Blood because recently she had
- 30:58Speaker 1: him on her podcast and she told a story about
- 31:01Speaker 1: how her and her husband were invited backstage and they
- 31:04Speaker 1: were part of his entourage in Melbourne and I was
- 31:06Speaker 1: like oh Steph he was he clearly was interested in
- 31:09Speaker 1: you I mean I think she knew that as well
- 31:11Speaker 1: deep down let's Let's be clear. I mean, not to
- 31:14Speaker 1: be that person, but in terms of Kylie, she had
- 31:16Speaker 1: to go for it. I mean, who's not going for
- 31:18Speaker 1: Michael Hutchins over Jason Donovan? I had this very conversation
- 31:23Speaker 1: with my husband. I was like, I feel sad for
- 31:25Speaker 1: Jason Donovan. And he's like, who wouldn't have done that?
- 31:28Speaker 2: And then he reminded me she was 21. I was like, true.
- 31:30Speaker 2: He's like, if you went to see Dean Guy and
- 31:33Speaker 2: we were dating and you were 21, you were totally.
- 31:35Speaker 2: And I was like, probably. I actually said I wouldn't.
- 31:40Speaker 2: You'd feel too bad.
- 31:41Speaker 1: Yeah. Brandon was watching it with me and he's like,
- 31:43Speaker 1: what a fucking dickhead doing that to Jason Donovan.
- 31:46Speaker 2: I'm like, look at Michael Hutch.
- 31:49Speaker 1: Yeah. But it also depends what's going on in your
- 31:51Speaker 1: relationship at the time. Like cracks were already appearing. They
- 31:54Speaker 1: were at each other's throats and they were in their
- 31:56Speaker 1: early twenties. I mean, obviously it's not the right thing
- 31:58Speaker 1: to do morally, but you can't really blame her in
- 32:00Speaker 1: this situation.
- 32:01Speaker 2: That's what my husband was saying. He was like, Jason
- 32:03Speaker 2: wasn't being that great to her.
- 32:04Speaker 1: I think it also helped her career because it helped
- 32:07Speaker 1: her move away from just playing this character of Charlene
- 32:10Speaker 1: and Scott. She became her own person and they became
- 32:13Speaker 1: this sort of mega couple together.
- 32:15Speaker 2: They ended up dating.
- 32:16Speaker 1: For two years, which I'm surprised they actually made it
- 32:18Speaker 1: that long because both of them were on tour. They
- 32:21Speaker 1: wouldn't have been able to spend much time together. Michael
- 32:23Speaker 1: would have had so many girls throwing themselves at him
- 32:27Speaker 1: you could tell that Kylie was so into him still
- 32:30Speaker 1: like that was the saddest part she she had no
- 32:33Speaker 1: anger towards him like putting two and two together it
- 32:35Speaker 1: sounded like maybe he hadn't been faithful whilst on tour
- 32:39Speaker 1: and he had dumped her but she was still singing
- 32:41Speaker 1: his praises I mean I think that probably has a
- 32:44Speaker 1: lot to do with the fact that you know he
- 32:46Speaker 1: passed away in 1997 and So I don't think you're
- 32:50Speaker 1: really going to go on your documentary and bag.
- 32:52Speaker 2: Out a guy.
- 32:53Speaker 1: I don't think it was just that, though. I think
- 32:56Speaker 1: that she felt a really genuine connection. And I mean,
- 33:00Speaker 1: she has previously said that their relationship was doomed because
- 33:03Speaker 1: he was a broken man. He did suffer with a
- 33:06Speaker 1: lot of addiction issues and also depression. So I think
- 33:09Speaker 1: that maybe she blamed a lot of that for the
- 33:11Speaker 1: reason that they couldn't be together. I mean, it's clear
- 33:14Speaker 1: that this relationship had a profound effect on Kylie's life.
- 33:17Speaker 1: In this docuseries, she referred to that relationship as her
- 33:20Speaker 1: most meaningful and she said, I've probably been looking for
- 33:23Speaker 1: something like that ever since and I haven't got it.
- 33:26Speaker 1: I have to say, I'm yet to watch this doco
- 33:29Speaker 1: because I have been glued all weekend to off-campus. Do
- 33:33Speaker 1: you take back your comments about Garrett not being hot?
- 33:36Speaker 1: I'm quite appalled with myself and it's not often that
- 33:38Speaker 1: I say I was wrong, but yes, I was wrong.
- 33:40Speaker 2: It's quite funny.
- 33:41Speaker 1: So if you've been sending me all these TikToks, it
- 33:43Speaker 1: was like, how awkward when you're falling in love with
- 33:45Speaker 1: Garrett Graham and your husband walks in.
- 33:47Speaker 2: Yeah, it was kind of like, you forget that you're
- 33:49Speaker 2: a happily married woman.
- 33:50Speaker 1: Yeah. I knew that you would love this show. This
- 33:53Speaker 1: is why Amy needs to watch it as well.
- 33:55Speaker 6: Okay.
- 33:55Speaker 1: And you have to watch Kylie too, because it is
- 33:57Speaker 1: a great watch. The Kylie doco is one of the
- 34:00Speaker 1: best I've seen for a while. Like I'm actually jealous
- 34:01Speaker 1: that you get to watch it because I enjoyed it
- 34:03Speaker 1: that much.
- 34:04Speaker 2: It just felt fun.
- 34:05Speaker 1: And I just loved reliving all of the eighties. I mean,
- 34:09Speaker 1: I had no idea that she was referred to as the.
- 34:12Speaker 5: What was it?
- 34:12Speaker 2: The singing budgie. Singing budgie.
- 34:14Speaker 1: Oh, I'm jealous you get to watch Off Campus from
- 34:16Speaker 1: the start. And Amy, I think you need to make
- 34:18Speaker 1: a promise to the listeners that you're actually going to
- 34:20Speaker 1: watch it and come back to us, maybe on the
- 34:22Speaker 1: subs episode.
- 34:22Speaker 2: I have zero interest. I think she should watch The
- 34:25Speaker 2: Summer I Turned Pretty first.
- 34:26Speaker 5: No.
- 34:27Speaker 2: No, I think she'd prefer this one better. It's a
- 34:28Speaker 2: bit more fast paced. Amy, you would fall in love
- 34:31Speaker 2: with this guy instantly. I don't like American teen dramas.
- 34:34Speaker 2: All right, well, you're missing out.
- 34:36Speaker 1: Please, please just watch it because I'm really interested to
- 34:38Speaker 1: hear your opinion on it.
- 34:39Speaker 2: Please, can you just Watch it with Dale. How many episodes?
- 34:42Speaker 2: My husband's been watching it with me. I think it's eight.
- 34:43Speaker 2: It's 10 episodes. Some people actually watched all 10 hours
- 34:46Speaker 2: in one night. That's the type of show it is.
- 34:48Speaker 1: I don't think I'll be able to get Dale to watch,
- 34:50Speaker 1: but I might watch by myself when he goes to bed.
- 34:51Speaker 2: Well, that is where we're going to leave things today.
- 34:53Speaker 1: But if you want to hear more from us, we
