- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome to We Talk Back Podcast, the production of iHeartRadio
- 0:04Speaker 1: and the Black Effect Network. We're just two unapologetically black
- 0:10Speaker 1: women with an opinion who talks. What's up, y'all? Is
- 0:17Speaker 1: your girl a j holiday? What's up, Tam Bam? Y'all,
- 0:21Speaker 1: it's me Tam Bam. I love y'all so much and
- 0:23Speaker 1: I missed y'all again. Welcome back, hey, AJ. How was
- 0:28Speaker 1: your weekend? Y'all know it's Valentines right this past weekend,
- 0:34Speaker 1: and my weekend was filled with love. Okay, my bood
- 0:39Speaker 1: things in town. I'm sad now because he's gone, all right,
- 0:43Speaker 1: so I get a chance to miss him. But bitch,
- 0:45Speaker 1: this motherfucker took me on a shopping spree to TJ
- 0:48Speaker 1: Maxim Marshalls. Throw it in the bag okay, and like
- 0:58Speaker 1: I'm on and they try to be like, bitch, I
- 1:01Speaker 1: don't need nothing for real. Anytime I even shop in
- 1:03Speaker 1: them stories by myself, I be just getting shipped. I
- 1:06Speaker 1: don't need to now I got more ship I don't
- 1:10Speaker 1: really need, but I want. So that was nice. That
- 1:13Speaker 1: was very nice weekend. He knew, he knew exactly what
- 1:18Speaker 1: to do. Mm hm. So I made a nigga crabbing
- 1:21Speaker 1: a bag on Saturday. So we ate dinner at the
- 1:23Speaker 1: house and I sucked dick. Yeah, we had a good
- 1:29Speaker 1: time together. I really enjoyed his company. Man. Yeah, I
- 1:33Speaker 1: hate when he leaves. I had as well. Yeah, that's
- 1:37Speaker 1: what I want to hear about Benching. What she was
- 1:39Speaker 1: doing with the new book. I got a Rolex. Look
- 1:42Speaker 1: at her, she's stepping a banana down her throat. Y'all
- 1:46Speaker 1: what you got a Rolex? I got a Rolex. I
- 1:49Speaker 1: got a new role. I had that oh ship. And
- 1:55Speaker 1: you know, so me and the guy that I'm seeing
- 1:57Speaker 1: right now, we just started dating in genuine you know,
- 2:00Speaker 1: it's new period. I got seven dozen roses, not from now.
- 2:06Speaker 1: I got two dozen from him. I got so many roses.
- 2:10Speaker 1: It's so crazy, how when you got somebody, all these
- 2:14Speaker 1: other people from the past, just the way you just
- 2:17Speaker 1: got random roses in to you. It's it's two dozen roses.
- 2:20Speaker 1: I still don't know where they came from. Hmmm. So
- 2:25Speaker 1: two dozen came to my mother's house, mm hmm. Then
- 2:31Speaker 1: three dozen came to the salon, and then my boat,
- 2:36Speaker 1: my boot got me two dozen. So I guess if
- 2:40Speaker 1: they came to your moms, you can kind and try
- 2:42Speaker 1: to narrow down. Yeah, it's out of two or three
- 2:45Speaker 1: people that knows where my mom lives. You gotta be
- 2:49Speaker 1: glad that you don't listen to this shit, right, you
- 2:53Speaker 1: don't listen. But it's okay, Like we just you know,
- 2:57Speaker 1: we just started. Yeah, but sometimes men just be holding
- 3:00Speaker 1: shit against us that we really can't even control. I
- 3:03Speaker 1: can't control that. I was not into him, none of
- 3:05Speaker 1: that stuff. And we love the flowers. I mean, I
- 3:08Speaker 1: got them all scattered all around the place, like, thank
- 3:10Speaker 1: you so much, whoever you are. Some of them. I
- 3:14Speaker 1: know who they came from, and I did say thank you.
- 3:17Speaker 1: But the past is the past, you know. So it's
- 3:21Speaker 1: so weird getting text messages from niggas who just assume
- 3:24Speaker 1: you by yourself a Valentine exactly? Are you? Well? You
- 3:27Speaker 1: know who I am. It's weird like or even like
- 3:32Speaker 1: trying to hit you up on the day after Valentine's Like,
- 3:36Speaker 1: I have not told you my life, and if I guess,
- 3:38Speaker 1: if you don't listen to the show, you really don't
- 3:40Speaker 1: know what I got going on in life. But the assumption,
- 3:44Speaker 1: the audacity, get off my fucking line. Period. One guy
- 3:48Speaker 1: was in my DMS talking about he want to take
- 3:50Speaker 1: me to Porto part whatever is calling Mexico Porto something.
- 3:58Speaker 1: And I was like, he said, we gonna on and
- 4:00Speaker 1: I was like, who who we who friends to me?
- 4:05Speaker 1: He's talking about me and you, I said, My man
- 4:07Speaker 1: was not like that. Yeah, okay, this is the season
- 4:11Speaker 1: of my man and he's gonna send me the salute emoji. Nigga, Yeah,
- 4:15Speaker 1: get out, get out here. Besides, I get my chan
- 4:21Speaker 1: done in thirty days when I get that, no old
- 4:26Speaker 1: chids on the new chees, no old balls on the
- 4:31Speaker 1: new chin, new chen? Who is no chin? Who is
- 4:39Speaker 1: the fuck? I don't know what you're talking about. All right,
- 4:44Speaker 1: let's get this. It's Black Black History Month. Yes, we
- 4:50Speaker 1: gotta do a baddie who talks that? Yeah, let's so
- 4:53Speaker 1: let's get into it, y'all. So my god daughter messaged
- 4:57Speaker 1: me last night and asked me if I I knew
- 5:01Speaker 1: an eight L Grant Harris, and I'm like, yeah, that
- 5:04Speaker 1: is my stepdad's sister in law. What's up? And she
- 5:09Speaker 1: was also the school resource officer when I was in
- 5:12Speaker 1: high school. So apparently her daughter, which is a little girl,
- 5:16Speaker 1: she's like seven. I don't know what they're doing for school,
- 5:21Speaker 1: but she was assigned eight L Grant Harris. So she's
- 5:25Speaker 1: actually a local celebrity that I didn't realize until last night.
- 5:29Speaker 1: Essentially right, oh today, I'll be honest, But yeah, she
- 5:34Speaker 1: was a school resource officer when I was in high school,
- 5:36Speaker 1: and she actually took me to jail ones in the
- 5:39Speaker 1: ninth grade, in the ninth grade, for beating a bitch up. Okay,
- 5:43Speaker 1: I mean first period, my ass is going to jail.
- 5:47Speaker 1: But y'all the person I beat up, I'm in ninth grade,
- 5:50Speaker 1: So how old are you? Ninth grade? What's fourteen? The
- 5:53Speaker 1: girl who I fought was eighteen on work release from
- 5:57Speaker 1: prison already, so she would get out of jail on
- 6:02Speaker 1: the weekday for school, and then she'd had to turn
- 6:05Speaker 1: herself in on Fridays to go back to jail. So
- 6:07Speaker 1: y'all just imagine the type bitch I was having a fight, right,
- 6:10Speaker 1: Why was she still in high school? A real lose
- 6:13Speaker 1: who knows a real loser. I got to worry about
- 6:16Speaker 1: this hole. But yeah, I got taken to jail and
- 6:20Speaker 1: she claimed I killed her baby. All type of shit. Girl.
- 6:22Speaker 1: It was a mess, fake fake pregnant around the school.
- 6:27Speaker 1: But anyway, this week's baddie who talks back. I know
- 6:31Speaker 1: her personally. She is my stepdad's sister in law. Her
- 6:35Speaker 1: name is adel Grant Harris, and she was hired September ninth,
- 6:39Speaker 1: nineteen seventy two, by the Charleston County Police Department as
- 6:42Speaker 1: the first black female officer in the whole state period. Okay,
- 6:48Speaker 1: so that's a super batty that talks back. And I
- 6:52Speaker 1: know she was not playing at school because imagine what
- 6:54Speaker 1: that must have been like in nineteen seventy two. This
- 6:57Speaker 1: is South Carolina. This is not only South Carolina, this
- 6:59Speaker 1: is Charlie, South Caroline, exactly. And you and being a
- 7:04Speaker 1: police I imagine even today, being a female police officer
- 7:07Speaker 1: is difficult, and then being a black female police officer
- 7:11Speaker 1: is difficult. And then you add Charleston, South Carolina, and
- 7:14Speaker 1: you ad nineteen seventy two, girl, you are exactly superhero. Okay, exactly,
- 7:19Speaker 1: So we're talking five decades ago, Charleston County Police Department
- 7:23Speaker 1: made history by hiring the first black woman police officer
- 7:25Speaker 1: in the state of South Carolina. She was a black
- 7:27Speaker 1: woman named adel Grant Harris. Harris worked for the police
- 7:31Speaker 1: department for thirty six years before retiring in two thousand
- 7:35Speaker 1: and eight. Harris and another black woman named Marilyn Wallace,
- 7:39Speaker 1: along with two white women, Lorraine so Light and Brenda
- 7:44Speaker 1: Newall were all hired on the same day. Y'all know
- 7:48Speaker 1: they can't never just give us some shit bars, So okay,
- 7:51Speaker 1: we got stragglers coming along. But after taking a test
- 7:54Speaker 1: and passing a background check, Chief John Conroy of Charleston
- 7:58Speaker 1: County Police Department hired Harris along with the three others
- 8:02Speaker 1: in September excuse me, on September ninth, nineteen seventy two.
- 8:06Speaker 1: Harris is the only one of the four to have
- 8:09Speaker 1: survived the challenges and made law enforcement a career. And
- 8:14Speaker 1: then she had to be in high school with you,
- 8:16Speaker 1: young know that she retired shortly after that, right, So
- 8:21Speaker 1: that was the latter part of her career in the
- 8:23Speaker 1: Charleston County Police Department. Like having to deal with your
- 8:28Speaker 1: ratchet asses, young ratchets. Yes, well, we salute you, absolutely, yeah,
- 8:36Speaker 1: sweet lady, are we're going to go to commercial when
- 8:40Speaker 1: we get back. We'll get into sins all right, and
- 8:49Speaker 1: we're back, so let's do it on the docket. Federal
- 8:53Speaker 1: judge has ruled that has ruled that little Dirk lyrics, interviews,
- 8:58Speaker 1: Instagram post commons, and text messages can be used against
- 9:03Speaker 1: him in court. That's a big can be used. Didn't
- 9:07Speaker 1: young thug just kind of get off on his shit
- 9:09Speaker 1: because they threw out like the lyrics and all that stuff. Damn,
- 9:15Speaker 1: he's fucked up by text messages. Yeah, they'll get you
- 9:18Speaker 1: every time. The dougie. They about to do the dougie
- 9:23Speaker 1: to him. And bathroom because y'all he cut his hair
- 9:26Speaker 1: off and he got a beer. He looked fine. He
- 9:28Speaker 1: looked like big dirt in jail. No, he definitely looked
- 9:33Speaker 1: like he looks healthy. Yeah, I'll say that. So Low
- 9:37Speaker 1: Dirk has been denied his latest motion to prevent his music, lyrics, interviews,
- 9:41Speaker 1: Instagram post comments, and text messages from being used at trial.
- 9:45Speaker 1: According to court documents, although the judge granted a small
- 9:48Speaker 1: part of his motion, most of his material will still
- 9:51Speaker 1: be used against him in his murder for higher case.
- 9:57Speaker 1: That is very unfortunate because that, I mean, how do
- 10:01Speaker 1: you you can't I mean you could say lyrics are
- 10:04Speaker 1: just entertainment, right, but conversations you don't know how long
- 10:09Speaker 1: these people when the fats come pick you up. They
- 10:12Speaker 1: they got a case and they don't want money, they
- 10:15Speaker 1: want information. Who's given the cuts? Ince yaill? Like, I
- 10:19Speaker 1: really admired girl. Your ass is crazy? Lineup clean. No,
- 10:26Speaker 1: he looks nice, healthy, like a nice young man. Why
- 10:30Speaker 1: did I think he didn't have face tattoos? I guess not.
- 10:32Speaker 1: He didn't have facial hair. I don't remember him having
- 10:34Speaker 1: facial hair. No, he definitely used to have like the
- 10:37Speaker 1: five o'clock shadow, but he would shave it so you
- 10:40Speaker 1: could tell he could get a beard. He just to
- 10:42Speaker 1: shave it. I don't know. Maybe he wanted to look younger.
- 10:43Speaker 1: I don't know, but he he'd looking fine in this picture.
- 10:48Speaker 1: But another dick in the dirty man it's not looking unfortunate,
- 10:53Speaker 1: like you know, there's some type of loophole like young
- 10:58Speaker 1: Thug got out of. You know, yeah, young Thug cooperated,
- 11:03Speaker 1: okay on the back end. You know, they tried to
- 11:05Speaker 1: say that that it wasna gunna, but it was him
- 11:10Speaker 1: that was cooperating. Because there are some people in that
- 11:14Speaker 1: case that went to jail. There are some other co
- 11:17Speaker 1: defendants that went to prison, but you know, young Thug
- 11:20Speaker 1: just wasn't one of them because he cooperated essentially. So,
- 11:23Speaker 1: I mean, Dirk is supposed to be like the general
- 11:26Speaker 1: of whatever organization they have going on. And and I
- 11:31Speaker 1: believe he had already gotten off a murder case in
- 11:33Speaker 1: Atlanta already and pretty much blamed it on what's what's
- 11:35Speaker 1: the one who who got murdered? There's so many, I know, y'all,
- 11:42Speaker 1: the one with the dreads. He pretty much blamed all
- 11:47Speaker 1: of his all of his killings, I would say on
- 11:52Speaker 1: that guy once he died. I don't know, they all
- 11:57Speaker 1: owd demons. I'm sorry, I'm sorry, Like I just you know,
- 12:01Speaker 1: I commented on something this past weekend. It was like
- 12:05Speaker 1: a bunch of niggas like in the cameras thirty year
- 12:07Speaker 1: and it's the guy who was doing like the what
- 12:09Speaker 1: do they call it a stitch? He was down, you know,
- 12:12Speaker 1: he was like this, these niggas is a problem, Like
- 12:14Speaker 1: y'all have y'all having kids, Like look look at y'all
- 12:17Speaker 1: like over thirty out here wild like this, like you
- 12:19Speaker 1: just look stupid. And I commented, and I said, this
- 12:22Speaker 1: is actually what anti semitic looks like, right. Black on
- 12:27Speaker 1: black crime is anti semitic. Us killing each other is
- 12:32Speaker 1: anti Semitic. They don't have nothing to do with anybody else.
- 12:34Speaker 1: If you really know who you are as the people
- 12:37Speaker 1: of this fucking planet. The things that we do to
- 12:40Speaker 1: each other is disgusting, you know what I'm saying. So
- 12:43Speaker 1: we cannot keep glorifying just bad behavior in our community.
- 12:51Speaker 1: Some people need to be in jail. But we didn't
- 12:53Speaker 1: be like anti black instead of Semitic, because ain't that
- 12:56Speaker 1: like Hebrew? Yeah, and I believe that we are the
- 12:59Speaker 1: true Hebrews, exactly what I'm saying. So yeah, the person
- 13:03Speaker 1: commented back and said something about account and Bill. I'm like,
- 13:07Speaker 1: obviously you you are misunderstanding what it is that I'm saying. Yeah,
- 13:11Speaker 1: you know, so when we speak on that other community
- 13:14Speaker 1: that we're not being anti Semitic because we are the
- 13:17Speaker 1: true Hebrews. So when we, you know, do commit violence
- 13:21Speaker 1: against each other, to me like that, that is what
- 13:24Speaker 1: that's really anti Semitic. Yeah, I can feel that. Yeah,
- 13:28Speaker 1: lost trap of Judah and all mm hmm. Yeah, we
- 13:32Speaker 1: just they don't nobody got to do nothing else no more.
- 13:34Speaker 1: We're doing it to ourselves. So it's unfortunate. But you know, prayer,
- 13:39Speaker 1: prayers up for whatever God want to assist. Uh a
- 13:44Speaker 1: little dirk in this time. All right, So moving on
- 13:48Speaker 1: to the next thing on the doctor. That's life. Niggas
- 13:51Speaker 1: go to jail and move on every day. What happens
- 13:55Speaker 1: all right? Cardi B is making some changes to her
- 13:58Speaker 1: look after wrapping up her little drama tour. There's a
- 14:02Speaker 1: backstage clip from her sould out stop at the Kia Form,
- 14:05Speaker 1: Cardi chats with Kilani and others, admitting she'll be removing
- 14:08Speaker 1: some of her butt enhancements this year. When Kalani comments,
- 14:12Speaker 1: you have so much ass. That was the most ass
- 14:15Speaker 1: I've ever seen, Cardi respond, After this tour, I'm taking
- 14:19Speaker 1: some out, she asks, After this tour, I don't want
- 14:22Speaker 1: to hear nobody for three months. I'm going to Columbia.
- 14:24Speaker 1: Nobody hit me up, nobody know nothing. I'm taking this
- 14:27Speaker 1: ass out. That's probably heavy as fuck. On that stage,
- 14:31Speaker 1: all that moving and dancing around. She gotta climbing the
- 14:33Speaker 1: fairs and stuff. You saw the one She was like security,
- 14:37Speaker 1: make sure y'all have my ass by pumping their back
- 14:40Speaker 1: when I get back. It's too much for her small frame,
- 14:46Speaker 1: I'm sure, especially if you weren't born with it. You
- 14:50Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. You just adding all this in
- 14:51Speaker 1: your body. Gotta adjust for it. I'm pretty sure it's
- 14:54Speaker 1: been uncomfortable and it's not appealing. Yeah, I'm glad that
- 14:58Speaker 1: that shit is over with, though, I'm glad like the
- 15:02Speaker 1: what what type of I don't know if people think
- 15:05Speaker 1: about this, but imagine, y'all a lot of fad a
- 15:10Speaker 1: fad a phase to entice you to alter your body
- 15:17Speaker 1: for some people forever, you know, cause you might not
- 15:20Speaker 1: have Cardi B money to actually get some good reconstructive
- 15:23Speaker 1: surgery because I think she has like butt shots not
- 15:25Speaker 1: necessary like the fat transfers, which usually the more natural,
- 15:31Speaker 1: you know. No, she probably going to Columbia because she
- 15:33Speaker 1: need good reconstructive surgery. Cardi B has had this ass
- 15:36Speaker 1: for a long time, way before the fat transfer was
- 15:40Speaker 1: a thing. This is definitely butt shots. So just think
- 15:42Speaker 1: about people like ky Michelle, how she had to and
- 15:46Speaker 1: she almost got like first of all, I heard taking
- 15:48Speaker 1: it out is a scary danger. I'm definitely going to
- 15:53Speaker 1: get my chin done. No, I don't care. Yeah, but
- 15:57Speaker 1: that is not the same as put in like a
- 15:58Speaker 1: foreign matter into your body. And I'm not even going
- 16:02Speaker 1: to sleep. It's real quick mm hmmm. Because even with
- 16:06Speaker 1: the fat transfers, I have a little cousin who did
- 16:09Speaker 1: fat transfer and her ship her body her butt area
- 16:13Speaker 1: rejected the fat, her own fat, and she and it
- 16:16Speaker 1: caused infection and she ended up with like an abscess
- 16:19Speaker 1: and like a hole that they had the stuff with
- 16:20Speaker 1: gods and ship until it healed, and she still went
- 16:23Speaker 1: back and got this ship again. That's our manager. That
- 16:30Speaker 1: like that, that's one of the scariest ones. So that's
- 16:33Speaker 1: why I'm kind of glad, Like the the bbls are
- 16:36Speaker 1: slowing down now, like people aren't just getting them as much.
- 16:39Speaker 1: And then a lot of them like something about where
- 16:44Speaker 1: the butts touched it that they ain't they ain't perfected
- 16:48Speaker 1: that part yet, Yeah, because it's supposed to be like
- 16:51Speaker 1: a nice little transition and if it's not like a
- 16:55Speaker 1: woman body naturally we have they call them hip tips,
- 17:00Speaker 1: but you know, that's just how we were shaped. And
- 17:02Speaker 1: there's nothing you could do about it either, right, So
- 17:04Speaker 1: then you have like some women go get the BBL
- 17:06Speaker 1: and like the whole shit is just rounded out, so
- 17:08Speaker 1: that goes straight. I don't know about perfect, but it
- 17:12Speaker 1: goes straight from ass, I mean from the back to ass,
- 17:15Speaker 1: like in between these little sticks legs like it don't
- 17:20Speaker 1: some of them do come out good like Bernicee. Yeah,
- 17:24Speaker 1: that's yeah, great, yes, because those are like skinny bbl's
- 17:31Speaker 1: kind of right. And then they also make sure they
- 17:33Speaker 1: stay working out to make sure it stays in shape,
- 17:35Speaker 1: because I mean, the older you get, whether it's a
- 17:36Speaker 1: real ass or a fake, it's gonna drop. Okay for
- 17:40Speaker 1: me personally, I ain't never wanted to be thicker like
- 17:43Speaker 1: I've had. I've been struggling to get skinny my whole life,
- 17:46Speaker 1: so I don't understand why I bitch just wanted to
- 17:48Speaker 1: get thick in the first place. Like keep your keep
- 17:51Speaker 1: your low slim body and uh, have a baby, just
- 17:55Speaker 1: get grown, grow up. Your body will change. Look, give
- 17:59Speaker 1: it time. Fine slim thick, amazing slim thick. I'm fight
- 18:06Speaker 1: every day for my life. I'm trying to cardon b
- 18:11Speaker 1: going to Columbia. Just suck it out. I'm tired as
- 18:15Speaker 1: bad as not talking about Ozic. I might get on
- 18:17Speaker 1: that too, I don't know, because I ain't fucking with that.
- 18:20Speaker 1: And my sister I'd be talking shit to her all
- 18:22Speaker 1: the time because she's slimming. Sound now, I'm like, you
- 18:24Speaker 1: cheat it though, Yeah, you cheat it? Who cares though?
- 18:28Speaker 1: Like that's how I care. It matters, bitch. I'm not
- 18:32Speaker 1: doing no Ozmpic because I feel like whatever is an
- 18:35Speaker 1: Ozmpic is the ship that they was trying to catch
- 18:38Speaker 1: everybody with the coolvid shot. But they don't throw that
- 18:40Speaker 1: shit in no Ozempic to catch it. They know bitches
- 18:43Speaker 1: don't want to be fat. So there going through the
- 18:46Speaker 1: other ingredients and Olympic and see we can get because
- 18:49Speaker 1: there's a lot of lawsuits out there right now with Olympics.
- 18:51Speaker 1: Be very careful. Pincreatic issues, pinkreiss issues, kidney issues, stomach issues,
- 18:57Speaker 1: that's the biggest one. Yeah. I went and got my started,
- 19:01Speaker 1: my klonic's back. I got a kalonic at seven o'clock
- 19:03Speaker 1: in the morning. Yeah, like, just you got a detox
- 19:07Speaker 1: to start to kick the diet off properly. I guess.
- 19:09Speaker 1: I don't know. I just need the food noise to stop.
- 19:13Speaker 1: We fat together, girl, I don't want to be fat
- 19:15Speaker 1: no more. I was so good last year, Like I
- 19:19Speaker 1: did so good. It's just do it again. When you
- 19:22Speaker 1: put your mind to you be you be executing, so
- 19:24Speaker 1: you could do it again. It's just trying to put
- 19:26Speaker 1: my mind to it. I just want to but Okay,
- 19:29Speaker 1: what else happened? Clifton, Cliff and Powell? What is this
- 19:35Speaker 1: some type of round table talk Black Men Trust Black
- 19:40Speaker 1: Women presented by Sister Song Underscore w c SO. Clifton, Yeah,
- 19:47Speaker 1: Clifton Powell. You know the actor Clifton Power. What he
- 19:50Speaker 1: played like a Friday Afternex Pinky the Pimp, Yeah, Pinky. Yeah,
- 19:55Speaker 1: that's the most people can He is so small in
- 19:58Speaker 1: real life. I've seen him in La once and I'm like,
- 20:00Speaker 1: I thought this man was a tall man. He's not
- 20:03Speaker 1: a lot of them niggas be little for real. Yeah,
- 20:06Speaker 1: I mean he was taller than me, but I don't
- 20:07Speaker 1: know why. I thought he was, like, you know, six
- 20:09Speaker 1: foot plus, but he isn't definitely under six foot. But anyway,
- 20:14Speaker 1: he says that, you know, he's sixty nine years old
- 20:17Speaker 1: and he's just now learning how to love at sixty nine,
- 20:22Speaker 1: What do you think about that? Like, you're halfway out
- 20:24Speaker 1: of here, sir, halfway copy right? He passed mid life
- 20:29Speaker 1: prices like you out of here right, seventy years old?
- 20:35Speaker 1: What is scary? You know? It is? Mm hmm it
- 20:41Speaker 1: is so. It says Clifton Share that his mother died
- 20:44Speaker 1: when he was four and his father father was very violent.
- 20:47Speaker 1: He has since moved on from his ex wife, Kimberly,
- 20:50Speaker 1: and in this new relationship he describes in this clip,
- 20:54Speaker 1: oh excuse me, And in this new relationship he describes
- 20:57Speaker 1: so Back in September, he shared with the Art of
- 21:00Speaker 1: Dialogue podcast that marriage was his biggest mistake because he
- 21:04Speaker 1: couldn't build his career while maintaining a successful relationship, resulting
- 21:10Speaker 1: in infidelity on his part. Listen, oh, you got time
- 21:14Speaker 1: to fuck. But my ex boyfriend, Mama used to say
- 21:19Speaker 1: to me, and this is when I was a teenage
- 21:21Speaker 1: girl like that. These men don't act right to their pencil,
- 21:27Speaker 1: can't write no more. Mm hm, that's what she said.
- 21:29Speaker 1: And he's kind of proving that to be true because
- 21:33Speaker 1: I'm sure his pencil don't act right as good as
- 21:36Speaker 1: it was when he was building his career, you know.
- 21:41Speaker 1: And now he's talking about he's just learning how to love. Yeah,
- 21:44Speaker 1: because now all you got is love. You ain't got
- 21:47Speaker 1: dick no more. So now you a hospice husband, you're
- 21:50Speaker 1: looking for a wife to take care of you. I
- 21:53Speaker 1: would like to know how old the woman is that
- 21:55Speaker 1: he's he's now dating, who he's you know now in
- 21:59Speaker 1: a relationship with I'm pretty she's probably about ten ten
- 22:02Speaker 1: fifteen years younger than him. He still looks pretty healthy,
- 22:07Speaker 1: he did. They look like they got to argue. I
- 22:14Speaker 1: don't know. I didn't want. As matter of fact, maybe
- 22:16Speaker 1: we should have watched this, and maybe I will so
- 22:20Speaker 1: I could have a better take on what's transpiring. But
- 22:26Speaker 1: I get kind of triggered by that, right, you know, like,
- 22:31Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure Kimberly his ex wife is probably an
- 22:34Speaker 1: amazing woman. And you know, nothing is ever enough when
- 22:38Speaker 1: niggas dick still work, like you want to make sure
- 22:42Speaker 1: you can't fuck everybody you can't. And the thing is
- 22:46Speaker 1: is that when people are chasing success men in particular,
- 22:50Speaker 1: the woman that you have in your life. Yes, the
- 22:54Speaker 1: relationships can make a break you. But that thing that
- 22:58Speaker 1: you think you have to, like that level you think
- 23:01Speaker 1: you're going to get to before you start the family,
- 23:03Speaker 1: before you get married, y'all don't realize that the right
- 23:06Speaker 1: woman brings all that shit to fruition like we had.
- 23:10Speaker 1: Like I think this is my belief that men access
- 23:13Speaker 1: these things through women. We are the creators, we have
- 23:18Speaker 1: that creative energy. I think even the most successful man
- 23:21Speaker 1: you can find some woman that looks beat down, downtrodden
- 23:25Speaker 1: somewhere whose energy he's probably dreamed, you know. Okay, because
- 23:31Speaker 1: we are to conduit to all these things. So the
- 23:34Speaker 1: sooner you realize that finding a wife is really finding
- 23:37Speaker 1: a good thing, you'll be better off. Man. You're chasing
- 23:40Speaker 1: the bag. Women come with the bag in that literally
- 23:45Speaker 1: figuratively that part at this point, get y'all, get y'all
- 23:51Speaker 1: a motherfucking wife and quit plane period here. It's a
- 23:54Speaker 1: good thing. When we were talking about Ma and your wife,
- 23:58Speaker 1: get you a house. That's what you need to do
- 24:01Speaker 1: first before you get your wife. And that's what we're
- 24:03Speaker 1: going to talk about this week, home ownership and what
- 24:06Speaker 1: that looks like in America. See y'all stay tuned. We'll
- 24:09Speaker 1: be right back this week. We are talking about the
- 24:17Speaker 1: American dream? Are we put it on layway nowadays? Like
- 24:21Speaker 1: still even a real thing? What is the current cost
- 24:24Speaker 1: of the American dream? Right? Okay? So today we have
- 24:28Speaker 1: a very lovely guest. She is the best real tour
- 24:31Speaker 1: in North Carolina. Where else you licensed death South Carolina,
- 24:34Speaker 1: North Carolina and South Carolina. Miss Jackie Woodier Okay, slash goodyear. Okay,
- 24:41Speaker 1: We talked back. Yes, how you doing, Jackie, I'm doing great.
- 24:46Speaker 1: I'm so happy to be here.
- 24:48Speaker 2: But yeah, you know, oh my girls tell me ask
- 24:50Speaker 2: me to be here, so I am happy to show
- 24:52Speaker 2: up for you.
- 24:53Speaker 1: Girl. It's been a long time because I actually how
- 24:55Speaker 1: many months ago this was, Like it's been We've gone
- 24:57Speaker 1: through injuries and kind of back and forth from LA
- 25:02Speaker 1: and injuries, and yes, it's been a long time coming,
- 25:04Speaker 1: but I'm happy. Like the first time I asked you
- 25:06Speaker 1: to come on out, did I break my foot? Was it? Yes? Yes? Yes?
- 25:11Speaker 1: And then I circle back again months later, and then
- 25:15Speaker 1: something else happened. Sid you got sick? Ye, it's real. Yeah, no, no,
- 25:21Speaker 1: I saw the boot. I saw the boot. Ladies and gentlemen,
- 25:25Speaker 1: I saw the boot. I know. I saw the blimp.
- 25:29Speaker 1: So you're here, and we're going to to have you
- 25:32Speaker 1: and we're going to talk all things houses in real
- 25:34Speaker 1: estate and black women, and was one of.
- 25:37Speaker 2: My favorite subjects is houses, of course, but most importantly
- 25:41Speaker 2: black women.
- 25:42Speaker 1: So let's first start with how you got into real estate.
- 25:45Speaker 2: Yeah, so I started back in twenty eighteen. I was
- 25:48Speaker 2: flipping homes, so I was kind of doing my own
- 25:51Speaker 2: investment in real estate.
- 25:52Speaker 1: Investment. I bought my own.
- 25:53Speaker 2: Little man deals, like very contra very small, just for myself,
- 25:58Speaker 2: you know what I mean, like really really small projects.
- 26:01Speaker 2: So I'm from the woods, you know, and out there
- 26:04Speaker 2: you can you used to be able to find really
- 26:07Speaker 2: really you know, deals that you can put a little
- 26:10Speaker 2: bit of money into and flip them and make some
- 26:12Speaker 2: money back.
- 26:14Speaker 1: This was twenty eighteen, before you know, COVID and everything.
- 26:17Speaker 2: And I bought my own home then too, and bought
- 26:20Speaker 2: and sold a couple of properties.
- 26:21Speaker 1: And then I decided, you know what, I want.
- 26:23Speaker 2: To get out of the corporate America and get into
- 26:26Speaker 2: my entrepreneurship journey. So I think it was twenty twenty
- 26:30Speaker 2: two or twenty twenty three I went and got my
- 26:32Speaker 2: license and I've been working as a realtor ever since.
- 26:35Speaker 1: Is it how's the market though? Is it good? Is
- 26:38Speaker 1: it booming in Charlotte? I mean yeah, so the market
- 26:42Speaker 1: is what it is. Right. If you can, then you can,
- 26:46Speaker 1: If you can't, then you can. And that's never really
- 26:48Speaker 1: been any different, you know.
- 26:50Speaker 2: I think like we got this false sense of like
- 26:54Speaker 2: what real estate could be during COVID when we had
- 26:57Speaker 2: those crazy low interest rates and people were you know,
- 27:01Speaker 2: rushing to the market because you know, we had to
- 27:04Speaker 2: stimulate the economy and the government realized that.
- 27:06Speaker 1: So that's when you.
- 27:08Speaker 2: Know, people were going overly buying houses and overly paying
- 27:12Speaker 2: like way more than than normal for home So it
- 27:14Speaker 2: kind of drove up the market at that point, and
- 27:17Speaker 2: there were lots of participation. But the market is to
- 27:21Speaker 2: me as it always has been. I mean, you see
- 27:24Speaker 2: a little bit of fluctuation right now because of the
- 27:26Speaker 2: interest rates and people have you know, some hesitancy about
- 27:30Speaker 2: it and what they feel like they can do. But
- 27:33Speaker 2: I feel good about the market. I have plenty of
- 27:35Speaker 2: clients and I haven't seen things slow down really at all.
- 27:37Speaker 1: You don't think like the big corporations played a big
- 27:40Speaker 1: part in running up the cost of the homes, like Zillow,
- 27:43Speaker 1: because they got into the retail home buying. Now somebody
- 27:47Speaker 1: who has a you know, family with kids, they can't
- 27:50Speaker 1: even purchase a single family home anymore. Absolutely, I mean
- 27:55Speaker 1: over that that's who appears. That's what it feels exactly
- 27:59Speaker 1: what's going on.
- 28:00Speaker 2: Corporations. There's a one corporation in Charlotte on twenty thousand.
- 28:03Speaker 1: Yeah, that's fucking crazy. So now they are drippy you
- 28:07Speaker 1: want to sell your home, right, Yeah, this is how
- 28:09Speaker 1: people who have been living in their houses for I
- 28:11Speaker 1: don't know, fifteen to twenty years can sell it. Not
- 28:14Speaker 1: even that long. They were giving people like ten twenty
- 28:18Speaker 1: thousand dollars over as asking price.
- 28:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean that was all COVID, like whether you
- 28:24Speaker 2: were a corporate buyer or if you were just like
- 28:27Speaker 2: shopping for a home. Like people were so competitive just
- 28:30Speaker 2: because those rates were lower, they could afford to be
- 28:33Speaker 2: more competitive.
- 28:33Speaker 1: But yeah, that corporate.
- 28:36Speaker 2: Now they're building whole townhome communities and they're all for rent.
- 28:40Speaker 1: Nothing's for sale. So I think townhomes should be for
- 28:44Speaker 1: rent because I could never get over the idea of
- 28:47Speaker 1: like purchasing a town home and everybody paying taxes on
- 28:51Speaker 1: their on this same plot of land. That shouldn't never
- 28:56Speaker 1: Sam session, I have a townhome, town girl, But you
- 29:01Speaker 1: paying taxes and your neighbor paying taxes on the same
- 29:04Speaker 1: plot of landing You're like, it's not the same plot
- 29:06Speaker 1: of land. You own, whatever land your home is on.
- 29:10Speaker 1: You're you're all connected, You're all are connected. But yes,
- 29:15Speaker 1: life is my right yard. Yeah, the bay and the
- 29:21Speaker 1: same amount of taxes that little like somebody would pay
- 29:25Speaker 1: for a house.
- 29:25Speaker 2: Well, taxes are calculated based on your acreage, so you know,
- 29:30Speaker 2: if your portion of that land is only what you're
- 29:35Speaker 2: paying for, so.
- 29:35Speaker 1: You're going to pay the same price, you're probably paying
- 29:38Speaker 1: the same price, but it's a fraction if the whole
- 29:40Speaker 1: space was yours. Is what you're what's your Yeah, what's
- 29:43Speaker 1: your taxes?
- 29:44Speaker 2: So I think because I haven't wrapped up into my mortgage,
- 29:47Speaker 2: so I think they're around twenty three hundred a year.
- 29:52Speaker 1: So some people pay twenty three hundred on their home
- 29:54Speaker 1: own a house with land, That's what I'm saying. Yeah,
- 29:56Speaker 1: but you know, it just it depends the value of
- 29:59Speaker 1: the home.
- 30:00Speaker 2: The value of the home goes into it, and then the
- 30:02Speaker 2: amount of land you have, so all that contributes. But
- 30:06Speaker 2: you know, for not having you it is right, I mean,
- 30:10Speaker 2: that's exactly what it is.
- 30:11Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Like everything is everything is
- 30:14Speaker 1: a finesse. So what would you say to people who
- 30:16Speaker 1: are who feel like buying and renting is out of
- 30:19Speaker 1: reach right now? Like because it's Charlotte, just to rent
- 30:22Speaker 1: a decent home, it's two thousand dollars. You're not going
- 30:26Speaker 1: to get much for under two thousand. Yeah, for sure,
- 30:29Speaker 1: what would you say. I would say, go to work,
- 30:33Speaker 1: go to work, go to work. Amore drugs, definitely. I
- 30:42Speaker 1: just got back drug sell yeah.
- 30:46Speaker 2: But okay, but they have commercialized selling drugs.
- 30:50Speaker 1: Yeah. Right, at the end of the day, if you're
- 30:53Speaker 1: selling drugs, you know what I mean, have a kind
- 30:56Speaker 1: of other way of making maybe not a non tackage
- 31:00Speaker 1: making money, get in the game.
- 31:09Speaker 2: No, but I would say do whatever you can afford.
- 31:11Speaker 2: You know, we're in unprecedented times where you kind of
- 31:15Speaker 2: have to. We're all getting to how we live, and
- 31:19Speaker 2: so what's important is just making sure that whatever it
- 31:22Speaker 2: is that you're doing, you can't afford that. So if
- 31:26Speaker 2: you can't live in the high rise, you can't live
- 31:28Speaker 2: in the hor d, you can't live in uptown, you
- 31:29Speaker 2: can't live in uptown. You have to do whatever it
- 31:31Speaker 2: is that you have to do to secure your future financially.
- 31:36Speaker 1: I just hate the fact that, Okay, so my rent
- 31:38Speaker 1: is damnar like two thousand dollars, right, but some people
- 31:44Speaker 1: may not be able to get financed for a mortgage
- 31:48Speaker 1: paying that same amount, but you can get approved for
- 31:49Speaker 1: an apartment, right. That's the bullshit. It's almost like they
- 31:52Speaker 1: want you in a rental situation forever. They really don't
- 31:56Speaker 1: want people owning anything in America anymore. That's the goal.
- 32:00Speaker 2: You know, the older that we get and the more
- 32:04Speaker 2: that we have, I think it's only it's like, you know,
- 32:08Speaker 2: normal to want more. It's normal to be more comfortable
- 32:12Speaker 2: or have a more beautiful home, or have a nicer car,
- 32:15Speaker 2: or have a and you're always wanting to upgrade because
- 32:18Speaker 2: that also signals outside of you that you know, life
- 32:22Speaker 2: is good or I'm a successful individual, I'm being successful
- 32:26Speaker 2: in life. And what's important is if you have goals
- 32:31Speaker 2: of doing more, becoming you know, having a business or
- 32:36Speaker 2: owning a home or whatever your goals are, they're going
- 32:39Speaker 2: to cost money at the end of the day. So
- 32:41Speaker 2: it's important to live within your means enough to be
- 32:44Speaker 2: able to afford those dreams or to chase those dreams.
- 32:48Speaker 2: So yeah, you might have.
- 32:50Speaker 1: To m you know, whatever that means, or just you know,
- 33:02Speaker 1: be a little be a little conservative until you can
- 33:07Speaker 1: do you believe like the American dream is still real
- 33:10Speaker 1: though totally Yeah, yeah, I do. I think for most Americans, no,
- 33:17Speaker 1: of course not. It's the American dream is not for
- 33:19Speaker 1: most Americans. The American dream is just a dream at
- 33:23Speaker 1: this point. Yeah, I mean I feel like the American
- 33:27Speaker 1: dream that that was the whole point in this episode, right,
- 33:29Speaker 1: because I think the American dream for most Americans has
- 33:33Speaker 1: always been having a house, a car, a job, and
- 33:36Speaker 1: a family, right right, And the house is like the
- 33:40Speaker 1: epitome of the whole thing, right right. So most people
- 33:43Speaker 1: now can't afford a house like our parents, most of
- 33:46Speaker 1: them could have afford could have afforded a house back then.
- 33:49Speaker 1: I think my mom house was like fifty thousand dollars.
- 33:52Speaker 1: You know, she bought her house in eighty four when
- 33:54Speaker 1: I was born, still lives in the same house, paid
- 33:56Speaker 1: off now, you know. But and now her house is
- 34:00Speaker 1: worth like five hundred thousand dollars. Okay, but it's still
- 34:04Speaker 1: forty years later.
- 34:05Speaker 2: Like yeah, but at the end of the day, like
- 34:08Speaker 2: all of that is equity. I mean, your mom could
- 34:12Speaker 2: do anything she wanted to. She can get alone against
- 34:15Speaker 2: her home for much less than she would like a
- 34:17Speaker 2: traditional loan to go and do whatever she wanted to do.
- 34:20Speaker 1: Or she could sell her house and have that in cash.
- 34:22Speaker 1: This came up because I was talking about my stepdaddy,
- 34:25Speaker 1: who I love so much. Has I think about this now?
- 34:29Speaker 1: Imagine you had a family member, Hey, daddy, a vacant
- 34:33Speaker 1: house next door to your mom's house that has been
- 34:36Speaker 1: vacant for fifteen seven, almost seventeen years. It's essentially a
- 34:41Speaker 1: storage unit at this point, and I've asked them to
- 34:45Speaker 1: buy it. I've asked them to let me live in
- 34:47Speaker 1: it and renovate it. No Black and I started talking
- 34:51Speaker 1: about black people and how they just look at they
- 34:55Speaker 1: don't even consider generational wealth the older generation. Right, this
- 34:58Speaker 1: is something new. I won't say that none of them,
- 35:01Speaker 1: because you do have some affluent Black families, right who
- 35:03Speaker 1: whose parents are our age and set their kids up.
- 35:07Speaker 1: But for the most part, it's almost like I had
- 35:09Speaker 1: to struggle, so do you. Yeah.
- 35:12Speaker 2: I think it's a general lack of understanding of how
- 35:17Speaker 2: you can make your money work for you, right, because
- 35:21Speaker 2: it is amazing that your mother in eighty four was
- 35:24Speaker 2: able to buy home, buy home on her own, no,
- 35:27Speaker 2: my dad with your dad, my dad to own home,
- 35:30Speaker 2: you know, and then to have that same home and
- 35:32Speaker 2: see the appreciation of that home realized is incredible. The
- 35:38Speaker 2: lack of information, understanding and information is not knowing what
- 35:42Speaker 2: you can.
- 35:42Speaker 1: Do with that, right, It's using your equity to build
- 35:45Speaker 1: out wealth.
- 35:46Speaker 2: And that is the differentiation between black people and and
- 35:52Speaker 2: everyone else. Right we are like, let our go buy
- 35:56Speaker 2: a house, be the first person in in my family
- 35:59Speaker 2: to own a home, or you know, own a home
- 36:02Speaker 2: for thirty years and living in forever. It's my forever home.
- 36:04Speaker 2: I want this to be it. And that's all whatever.
- 36:07Speaker 1: But you know, people send their people pay for their
- 36:10Speaker 1: kids college off of home ownership and real estate deals
- 36:13Speaker 1: and things like that. And it's so over the last
- 36:17Speaker 1: two years to say, you know, you bought a home
- 36:19Speaker 1: in COVID. Right, since COVID's been two or three years,
- 36:23Speaker 1: some people's homes have appreciated. What's the average right now?
- 36:28Speaker 2: So homes are selling right now on average in Charlotte,
- 36:31Speaker 2: I think it's probably around five hundred if I'm not mistakes.
- 36:34Speaker 1: I'm saying, like the person who bought the home during COVID,
- 36:36Speaker 1: what is the average equity that they people have right now?
- 36:40Speaker 1: Who during COVID?
- 36:42Speaker 2: I don't know, but I'll tell you mine I bought
- 36:45Speaker 2: when I moved to Charlotte in twenty twenty one. I
- 36:47Speaker 2: bought my house for three eighty six, three eighty seven
- 36:50Speaker 2: something like that. And now it's worth five hundred, and
- 36:53Speaker 2: it's it's flat flat over the last like year and
- 36:57Speaker 2: a half or so. But yeah, it's been around five
- 36:59Speaker 2: hundred for for a while now, but like consistently growing
- 37:03Speaker 2: in inequity over those years. I mean, like I could
- 37:07Speaker 2: tell my house right now and have one hundred thousand dollars.
- 37:09Speaker 1: What advice would you give to a first time buyer,
- 37:12Speaker 1: you know, just scared, ready to get out there and
- 37:15Speaker 1: buy a home, but they don't know what to do
- 37:16Speaker 1: exactly what we said to them. I mean, get information,
- 37:21Speaker 1: that's all you have to do.
- 37:21Speaker 2: Figure out like what it is that you have to do,
- 37:24Speaker 2: and then like do that, you know, and if and
- 37:26Speaker 2: if when you go to let's say you go to
- 37:28Speaker 2: your bank, your credit union, or you talk to a
- 37:31Speaker 2: realtor or a lender, somebody who can guide you professionally
- 37:36Speaker 2: with their you know, professional knowledge, if you're not ready,
- 37:40Speaker 2: if they say, okay, you have to work on this,
- 37:42Speaker 2: you have to work on that, then like at least
- 37:44Speaker 2: you have a starting point you have and you can
- 37:47Speaker 2: put a goal in in place.
- 37:49Speaker 1: Right. It's different when.
- 37:50Speaker 2: You're like, oh, buying house is so hard, I don't
- 37:53Speaker 2: know what to do, and then you just never figure
- 37:57Speaker 2: it out, you never think about it again, and you
- 37:59Speaker 2: just think it.
- 38:00Speaker 1: This huge task.
- 38:02Speaker 2: My the client that I just closed last month, she
- 38:06Speaker 2: was she I met her through a good friend of mine,
- 38:09Speaker 2: and she was like, I want to move to Charlotte
- 38:12Speaker 2: and move closer to have help with my son. And
- 38:16Speaker 2: I was looking at places to rent.
- 38:18Speaker 1: I spent all day looking at places to rent.
- 38:20Speaker 2: And I was like, well, girl, you know if you
- 38:22Speaker 2: want to move here, and she told me her budget.
- 38:24Speaker 1: I said, that's a significant budget. Was about it.
- 38:26Speaker 2: She wanted to spend two thousand dollars and I said
- 38:29Speaker 2: that's a pretty smudge.
- 38:31Speaker 1: Yeah. I said, that's a good Budget's a decent budget
- 38:34Speaker 1: that I were working with. Let's see what you can do,
- 38:35Speaker 1: because that's how much she's probably clean and rent. That's
- 38:37Speaker 1: exactly exactly.
- 38:38Speaker 2: I was like, you're gonna pay seventeen hundred, you know,
- 38:41Speaker 2: at least you know a room for you for two bedroom?
- 38:44Speaker 1: You know, too bad, it's going to be seventeen hundred.
- 38:47Speaker 1: I just looked at this one bedroom here in Charlottetown home,
- 38:50Speaker 1: a one bedroom townhome twenty eight fifty a month lasty.
- 38:55Speaker 1: I looked at a an old ass multi family home
- 39:00Speaker 1: in Charleston, thirty eight hundred dollars, top floor, two bedroom,
- 39:06Speaker 1: two bathroom, built in the nineteen forties. What was the
- 39:10Speaker 1: location of the pool in the back? Where is it?
- 39:13Speaker 1: It must be right, it's like almost going into downtown.
- 39:15Speaker 1: That what I was about to say it so well, Actually,
- 39:18Speaker 1: thirty eight hundred dollars thirty eight hundred rent and then
- 39:21Speaker 1: paying that much rent, how could you possibly gon to
- 39:26Speaker 1: do anything? So the career thing is also a part
- 39:28Speaker 1: of the American dream, right, having a career working someplace
- 39:32Speaker 1: for thirty thirty years or forty years or whatever, retiring
- 39:35Speaker 1: Like people cannot even lock in jobs like that anymore.
- 39:39Speaker 1: But you know what I say, New Yorkers are going
- 39:40Speaker 1: to listen to this and be like, fuck, y'all, twenty
- 39:42Speaker 1: eight hundred dollars out now, that's not for real, because
- 39:47Speaker 1: people are real minds. Yeah, there telling their seven seven
- 39:52Speaker 1: hundred square foot and coming out here behind for cash
- 39:57Speaker 1: and now they're driving out the cost of living Yankee bullshit.
- 40:01Speaker 1: Y'are ru y'all, y'all are ruining, y'all Democratic states. We
- 40:08Speaker 1: you know, Carolina, we embarrass ourselves. You know, it's nice
- 40:12Speaker 1: down here though it's cheaper, Yes, it's nice streets, clean
- 40:18Speaker 1: and ship New York like mad Max, Like, why the
- 40:24Speaker 1: is all these cars on the side of roll like abandoned?
- 40:26Speaker 1: It's weird. Yeah, it is. Visit what is something that
- 40:30Speaker 1: you wish buyers a but they don't.
- 40:33Speaker 2: Oh so I have buyers always come to me and
- 40:37Speaker 2: they're like, I want to buy a house in the
- 40:39Speaker 2: next year. And I'm like, okay, great, thank you for
- 40:42Speaker 2: you know, trusting me with your journey.
- 40:44Speaker 1: And then it's like they get cold feet immediately, and
- 40:48Speaker 1: I'm like, I didn't even ask you. I'd ask you
- 40:50Speaker 1: to come to me. But people people jump the gun
- 40:58Speaker 1: a lot.
- 40:58Speaker 2: They want to They say, I know I can afford
- 41:01Speaker 2: X y Z house or this is the house that
- 41:04Speaker 2: I that I know that I want in this price
- 41:06Speaker 2: range or in this neighborhood. They don't even they haven't
- 41:09Speaker 2: gone to the bank. They don't know anything about what
- 41:11Speaker 2: they can afford. They don't know anything about their.
- 41:14Speaker 1: Approval.
- 41:16Speaker 2: It's like, I'm like, you would be wasting all of
- 41:19Speaker 2: our times collectively because you know, let's say you fall
- 41:22Speaker 2: in love with this house, then you go and get
- 41:24Speaker 2: preapproved and you're like, ooh, actually I can only do this,
- 41:29Speaker 2: or oh but it can be three hundred thousand times
- 41:32Speaker 2: more than this, So it's just like it could be
- 41:35Speaker 2: a huge waste of your time. Everybody else's an emotions
- 41:38Speaker 2: get involved, you know what I mean. So that is like,
- 41:42Speaker 2: oh so often, so regular that that happens. So I
- 41:45Speaker 2: think that's like the most kind of unprepared thing that
- 41:47Speaker 2: buyers trying to do.
- 41:48Speaker 1: So let me tell y'all one of my clients, her
- 41:50Speaker 1: and her husband were buying a big, beautiful home. They
- 41:53Speaker 1: were about to close on the house and he surprised
- 41:57Speaker 1: her with a brand new car. You're ruined to sell.
- 42:03Speaker 1: They were at the table, yes, and I didn't know
- 42:06Speaker 1: that was possible. So can you speak to our listeners
- 42:08Speaker 1: about what that is exactly? That's exactly what it is.
- 42:10Speaker 2: It's debt to income ratio, So your debts or like
- 42:14Speaker 2: typically like your your bills, whether it's your like living
- 42:18Speaker 2: expenses and your cars and just anything that you have,
- 42:23Speaker 2: student loans, all of those.
- 42:25Speaker 1: What about hospital debt? They can? They can? So I
- 42:29Speaker 1: thought they stopped that kind of that didn't show up
- 42:31Speaker 1: on your credit affording.
- 42:35Speaker 2: Yes, yes, exactly, so they did make some changes. But
- 42:39Speaker 2: the specifics on that you would talk to.
- 42:41Speaker 1: Elonder about that, because you know, I don't know.
- 42:44Speaker 2: The very very specifics about what how different things can
- 42:47Speaker 2: affect it. Usually like when things go like bad into
- 42:51Speaker 2: your credit, if they are affecting your credit, then they're
- 42:54Speaker 2: affecting your ability to purchase. So it just depends, I
- 42:59Speaker 2: would say, But yeah, absolutely, if you go and you
- 43:03Speaker 2: go and buy furniture, go open you an Ashley.
- 43:05Speaker 1: Car, don't buy ship. Basically get a damn thing.
- 43:10Speaker 2: You go and get that car, you leave, you leave
- 43:14Speaker 2: the closing table, and you go to the dealership.
- 43:16Speaker 1: I'm not a moment, but not a moment. I think
- 43:18Speaker 1: I'll be ready to buy a house the end of
- 43:21Speaker 1: this year until next year. But anytime I'm in TJ Max,
- 43:24Speaker 1: which is every fucking Saturday or Sunday, and they asked
- 43:27Speaker 1: me to get that TJ girl. No, girl, I am
- 43:29Speaker 1: trying to buy a house. Girl. I cannot run my credit.
- 43:31Speaker 1: That's always my life, the last I don't know how
- 43:34Speaker 1: many years, twenty years, know how to buy a house.
- 43:38Speaker 3: Girl.
- 43:38Speaker 1: I can't run my credit. Like no, I don't want to,
- 43:40Speaker 1: Damn I cannot. I would never get a house if
- 43:43Speaker 1: I had a TJ Max credit card. Okay, right, So
- 43:46Speaker 1: that's good. You gotta know your strengths, you know your weaknesses. Okay,
- 43:50Speaker 1: that that is your opposite self awareness exactly exactly? Are
- 43:59Speaker 1: there any more stake step people make that you would
- 44:01Speaker 1: suggest against. I would say a huge mistake is not
- 44:08Speaker 1: moving immediately or not knowing, not finding out what you
- 44:12Speaker 1: can do immediately. So for those of us who are
- 44:15Speaker 1: I'm gonna hold your hand when I say this waiting
- 44:18Speaker 1: for a year, I'm gonna I'm gonna buy in a year.
- 44:20Speaker 1: I'm gonna be ready in a year and a half.
- 44:23Speaker 1: The longer we wait. Just like your mom's.
- 44:25Speaker 2: Home that she bought for fifty and eighty four is
- 44:29Speaker 2: now worth five hundred thousand and five fifty. You know,
- 44:32Speaker 2: with time that house has not changed. But guess what
- 44:36Speaker 2: with everything's more expensive no matter every year, everything in
- 44:41Speaker 2: life is more expensive.
- 44:43Speaker 1: You don't think we had a cap right now with
- 44:44Speaker 1: the price of houses, like god, how much how you
- 44:47Speaker 1: cant y'all go? Yeah?
- 44:49Speaker 2: Well, like if you think about it, like from a
- 44:52Speaker 2: general aspect, right with it as far as appreciation is concerned,
- 44:57Speaker 2: because nothing's getting less expensive, you know what I mean?
- 45:01Speaker 2: Like things are ago EBB and flow right, it's on
- 45:04Speaker 2: it's sicular.
- 45:05Speaker 1: Sometimes the price of gas is this much.
- 45:07Speaker 2: Sometimes it's that much, sometimes it's more, sometimes it's less.
- 45:10Speaker 2: But if you look at the trends over time, gas
- 45:14Speaker 2: costs more today than it did twenty years ago than
- 45:17Speaker 2: it did twenty years before that. So if we keep
- 45:20Speaker 2: saying I want to do this in five and you
- 45:22Speaker 2: know I want to this is what I want to
- 45:23Speaker 2: be done in a year, I want to actually be
- 45:25Speaker 2: doing it in five years or in ten years. I
- 45:28Speaker 2: want to be ready at the end of the day.
- 45:30Speaker 2: No matter where you are in the future, it's going
- 45:33Speaker 2: to cost more than it did today than it did
- 45:36Speaker 2: five years ago. So they all got to get mad
- 45:38Speaker 2: unless it's like a thousands, like two thousand and nine,
- 45:41Speaker 2: because when she happened, what happened in.
- 45:43Speaker 1: Two thousand and eight, Yeah, two thousand and eight was
- 45:47Speaker 1: eleven and all that's after after well after, right, housing
- 45:53Speaker 1: market is after, but it all stemmed from from nine
- 45:57Speaker 1: to eleven essentially.
- 45:58Speaker 2: Yeah, So in two thousand and eight the housing crash
- 46:01Speaker 2: was basically because back then you could get anybody can
- 46:05Speaker 2: get working, right, they were afford housing. They were giving
- 46:08Speaker 2: out mortgages like how even easier than they able to
- 46:12Speaker 2: prove you for TV right now? Yeah, like you were going, okay, cool,
- 46:16Speaker 2: they were giving your I actually was.
- 46:19Speaker 1: Looking for how maybe like two thousand and nine ten? Yeah, yeah,
- 46:23Speaker 1: so they were they were given.
- 46:24Speaker 2: I mean, you can show your pay stuffs, you can
- 46:25Speaker 2: show no paperwork, and what's.
- 46:27Speaker 1: The potential of that happening again? I never Yes, that's
- 46:35Speaker 1: like listen, mortgage, everything else can get figured out. Verizon,
- 46:43Speaker 1: y'all always last. Something again for to put your Verrizon
- 46:51Speaker 1: always last because I can always pay them, I just
- 46:54Speaker 1: don't want to why so high listen, I don't pay
- 46:57Speaker 1: nobody until right when it's time, Like all right with
- 47:01Speaker 1: rent is due on the first to the grace is
- 47:06Speaker 1: on the field. I paid a lot of stuff on
- 47:08Speaker 1: allt to pay, but my rent I just don't like
- 47:11Speaker 1: to pay. It's not that it's just that I will.
- 47:14Speaker 1: I'm not responsible enough to remember all of these, so
- 47:18Speaker 1: just take it. That's how I feel about it. I
- 47:20Speaker 1: just feel like no, because I want to be able
- 47:22Speaker 1: to give y'all when I feel like even I'm gonna
- 47:24Speaker 1: pay the whole thing, but I'm gonna remember, I'm not
- 47:28Speaker 1: gonna remember, I'm gonna forget, So just every last bit
- 47:30Speaker 1: of that interest that your bank account will allow before
- 47:33Speaker 1: you got to pay. But if it's due to ad
- 47:36Speaker 1: on the fifth, I pay it on the fifth at
- 47:38Speaker 1: eleven fifty nine nine, like literally the last second I
- 47:42Speaker 1: give it to you. So I want to talk about
- 47:43Speaker 1: the hustle tax because because like jobs aren't jobbing anymore, right,
- 47:47Speaker 1: careers aren't careering. So now we have all theseurs, not entrepreneurs,
- 47:52Speaker 1: but all these what do you call them the gig jobs? Right,
- 47:55Speaker 1: So what is the cost? Now there's a hustle tax
- 47:58Speaker 1: now right that you you pay to obtain American dreams.
- 48:02Speaker 1: And now you're working your regular full time job, plus
- 48:05Speaker 1: you're doing Uber and instacar all these different things to
- 48:10Speaker 1: get a house. It's bullshit, Like.
- 48:17Speaker 2: I mean, we live in a capitalist society, like it
- 48:21Speaker 2: almost just like it is what it is, you.
- 48:23Speaker 1: Know what I mean, what can you do? You swim? Swim? Yeah,
- 48:28Speaker 1: And that's really like what it is.
- 48:29Speaker 2: But fortunately, you know, at least here in Charlotte, and
- 48:34Speaker 2: I've actually looked into it a little bit in Rolling too.
- 48:36Speaker 2: Charlotte has a lot of programs that assist with home ownership.
- 48:42Speaker 1: So if you live underneath that kind of.
- 48:46Speaker 2: Like median income that for the for at least the
- 48:50Speaker 2: Charlotte area is really the where I can speak on
- 48:53Speaker 2: as far as those programs are concerned.
- 48:55Speaker 1: But if you live below that medium income level, then
- 48:58Speaker 1: there are programs that you can use and take advantage
- 49:00Speaker 1: of for additional down payment assistance. And a lot of
- 49:03Speaker 1: these private lenders have programs that.
- 49:05Speaker 2: Allow you to get additional monies to help with getting
- 49:11Speaker 2: you into a home home buying process, and there are
- 49:14Speaker 2: stipulations of course with each individual program, so you can
- 49:18Speaker 2: kind of tackle that as as it comes up.
- 49:20Speaker 1: But if oh, the goal of stuff like living out
- 49:24Speaker 1: in the rules, oh yeah, yeah, because I'm not opposed
- 49:27Speaker 1: to that, because I need me some farmland. I want
- 49:29Speaker 1: to that's what I want. I want a farmhouse. I'm
- 49:31Speaker 1: thinking about a farm. Yes, you don't believe. I know.
- 49:36Speaker 1: People are like, you're on a farm. But get up
- 49:38Speaker 1: on time? You get up in the morning. It depends. Girl,
- 49:41Speaker 1: it's hard to taking care of chicken. But who I
- 49:43Speaker 1: didn't know. I didn't say I want to like do
- 49:47Speaker 1: the farm work. There's people for this. The USDA mortgage
- 49:52Speaker 1: loan okay, yeah, so U s d A is very
- 49:56Speaker 1: is very similar in that you have you have a
- 49:59Speaker 1: certain incomervironments, you know, the amount of people in the home, requirements,
- 50:03Speaker 1: just different things that come up.
- 50:04Speaker 2: So you have to be approved for the program. And
- 50:07Speaker 2: it is only in certain areas. So usually like if
- 50:11Speaker 2: you if you want to live, like in the middle
- 50:13Speaker 2: of Charlotte, there is no USC loan but it's usc
- 50:16Speaker 2: A excuse me loan.
- 50:17Speaker 1: But usually in the outskirts and the far enough out
- 50:20Speaker 1: in the burbs, you can find you some rural community,
- 50:25Speaker 1: some some some homes out there that that are available.
- 50:28Speaker 1: Is that air conditioned on? Yeah, my my hands are
- 50:32Speaker 1: freezing cold? Did you? Oh wait, isn't it controlled by
- 50:36Speaker 1: that switch right there? That girl is so cold up there?
- 50:41Speaker 1: Will you? Will you please spurst up there and see
- 50:44Speaker 1: what the third status behind that curtain on and off?
- 50:48Speaker 1: That that's what they used to do in the summertime. Okay,
- 50:52Speaker 1: we'll try it. Sorry, y'all that that's freezing in here.
- 51:02Speaker 1: My hands are oh it just turned out. Oh you
- 51:07Speaker 1: turned off? But was that heat or air coming out?
- 51:10Speaker 1: Those things don't do he though I thought that was
- 51:12Speaker 1: just an air condition was blowing out that motherfucker because
- 51:20Speaker 1: because I really and that thermostat broke my ass seventy six.
- 51:29Speaker 1: Don't worry sixty seven it was that will Okay, okay,
- 51:36Speaker 1: all right, sorry, we're gonna listen. They need to work
- 51:38Speaker 1: on the rock. It ain't no insulation outside. Yeah, we're
- 51:44Speaker 1: outside right now. Might as well. Yeah, So whose dream
- 51:49Speaker 1: is the American dream? Whose is it? Was it ever?
- 51:54Speaker 1: Black Americans? Personal? You know that? Girl? You know that?
- 51:59Speaker 2: I mean, they are right now rolling back they're you know,
- 52:04Speaker 2: kind of untightening rules around the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
- 52:10Speaker 2: They're making it more legal, you know, to discriminate and
- 52:14Speaker 2: to harass.
- 52:16Speaker 1: And that is because black women, I don't know, like
- 52:22Speaker 1: if you know, but you know, are one of the
- 52:24Speaker 1: most educated indes. We are. We are as black.
- 52:30Speaker 2: Women are gaining degrees like you know, collecting infinity stones,
- 52:36Speaker 2: you know what I mean. So the more that we
- 52:40Speaker 2: achieve in advance, the further the goal change change, right,
- 52:44Speaker 2: which is what we are always getting changed. So yeah,
- 52:48Speaker 2: we I mean, if anybody can do it, it's clear
- 52:50Speaker 2: that black women can do it.
- 52:51Speaker 1: We are single.
- 52:53Speaker 2: Black women are have a higher, much higher level of
- 52:56Speaker 2: home ownership than our counterparts, and so the goalpost is
- 53:02Speaker 2: going to get moved. This is this is not okay.
- 53:06Speaker 1: So even though they're turning, so you feel like they're
- 53:08Speaker 1: going back, like they're basically going back to our parents time, right,
- 53:12Speaker 1: But our parents didn't have to have a degree to
- 53:15Speaker 1: get a good job and get a house and all
- 53:17Speaker 1: that stuff. They didn't have to.
- 53:18Speaker 2: Yeah, right, I mean comparatively the amount of money that
- 53:21Speaker 2: people were making, you know versus the things that how
- 53:25Speaker 2: much things cost were a little more evenly in place.
- 53:29Speaker 1: But now things cost a whole bunch and we don't
- 53:32Speaker 1: make it. We're making shit. You got to have three,
- 53:35Speaker 1: three to four strengths of income just to survive.
- 53:38Speaker 2: So I think, especially with the administration right now, that
- 53:43Speaker 2: they are going to do everything that they can do
- 53:46Speaker 2: to prevent you know, our our advancement as as a
- 53:51Speaker 2: people unfortunately. But you know here in Charlotte, they're doing
- 53:55Speaker 2: all kinds of gentrification and kicking you know, the the
- 54:00Speaker 2: original you know, people who are in these neighborhoods, they're
- 54:05Speaker 2: replacing them and.
- 54:05Speaker 1: Moving them out.
- 54:07Speaker 2: And you know that's that's something that they are doing
- 54:11Speaker 2: on purpose.
- 54:12Speaker 1: You know, they're something they've been doing for a long,
- 54:14Speaker 1: long term. So you're a black woman who got into
- 54:17Speaker 1: real estate. I held a real estate license many moons ago,
- 54:21Speaker 1: but I realized you had to have money to do
- 54:23Speaker 1: real estate. I was in college at the time. I'm like, fuck,
- 54:25Speaker 1: I got money, wants shutters change on the house. To
- 54:29Speaker 1: sell this house, I got to be able to maybe
- 54:30Speaker 1: change the colors on it or something like out of
- 54:32Speaker 1: my pocket to sell the house. And you know, I mean,
- 54:36Speaker 1: if if you're that kind of realtor, then absolutely, you know,
- 54:40Speaker 1: but it might be you know what I'm saying, So
- 54:43Speaker 1: you're you know it is you know. I mean, you've
- 54:47Speaker 1: been spending your money changing, fixing the homestead. Are you
- 54:51Speaker 1: not having ave just having a desk in a relative
- 54:54Speaker 1: office and you're not selling ship. You still got to
- 54:56Speaker 1: pay those desk fees. So the most I'm gonna do
- 54:58Speaker 1: is put a bowl of limits. I heard something about
- 55:00Speaker 1: a bowl of limons make some cook. But I was
- 55:09Speaker 1: getting the point to where you're a black woman who
- 55:13Speaker 1: was who got into real estate. So is it really
- 55:16Speaker 1: that we're being replaced or are we possibly refusing to
- 55:20Speaker 1: understand financial literacy. We're just not in the game. A
- 55:23Speaker 1: lot of us have forfeited the game because the game
- 55:26Speaker 1: is if the game is gentrification, get in the game.
- 55:30Speaker 1: We need to be a part of gentrification, and stop
- 55:33Speaker 1: feeling it's something that's happened towards us because I'm a
- 55:35Speaker 1: nigga that like new shit. I don't like looking at
- 55:38Speaker 1: old rundown houses and trash. Even if you live in
- 55:41Speaker 1: a hood, you don't have to have trash ministreets. We
- 55:43Speaker 1: can do a better job of taking care of our neighborhoods. Also, right,
- 55:48Speaker 1: and we lose our grandma house because people don't have
- 55:50Speaker 1: financial literacy. You got a whole free house that y'all
- 55:53Speaker 1: just got to keep the taxes on amongst ten people,
- 55:55Speaker 1: and you can't do it right? Does that? I feel
- 55:58Speaker 1: like we blame too much on outside entities and we
- 56:02Speaker 1: don't look in the mirror enough. That's how I feel about.
- 56:06Speaker 1: If you can't pay your how are you paying text
- 56:08Speaker 1: to a grandma house? You know, saying all types of
- 56:11Speaker 1: other things. Sorry, we paid all types of other ship
- 56:13Speaker 1: Black people spend money on Collectively, them niggas got that
- 56:17Speaker 1: tax money, but they bought weed. They kept buying ten
- 56:21Speaker 1: ten blood. It's stressful everybody else. Why don't get was
- 56:30Speaker 1: just saying you want to they want to be high. Ideally, yeah,
- 56:35Speaker 1: ideally you should be able to do both, right, you
- 56:37Speaker 1: should be able to take care of grandma's house and
- 56:42Speaker 1: yet high. This is America. You should be able to
- 56:45Speaker 1: get high. Whatever you feel like, it is a luxury.
- 56:51Speaker 1: On that ship. All they would have sex because he
- 56:55Speaker 1: was high. Not everybody fruitful multiplied. A bottom line is
- 57:03Speaker 1: niggas like discipline. That is a bottom line me too.
- 57:07Speaker 1: I think it's okay. Let me tell you what I
- 57:08Speaker 1: think it is. First of all. First of all, in
- 57:11Speaker 1: in these areas that are dentifica gentrifer being gentrified. You
- 57:16Speaker 1: got gentrified, Thank you, Amen, you know what. Collect But
- 57:23Speaker 1: there is a there is neglect from the government, the cities.
- 57:27Speaker 1: They neglect the neighborhoods. And that's why that's where the
- 57:32Speaker 1: voting matters. It doesn't really matter when we get up
- 57:35Speaker 1: to president and all that. It's your local These are
- 57:37Speaker 1: your natures, right, These are people who live in your district.
- 57:41Speaker 1: Get on, they ask for sure. When black people get
- 57:43Speaker 1: in these positions, they do the same underhanded dirty ship
- 57:48Speaker 1: that the white folks. You see what I'm saying. So
- 57:50Speaker 1: you still have that, Yeah, you're absolutely right.
- 57:54Speaker 2: It is a lovable accountability that we have to hold,
- 57:57Speaker 2: you know, our elective officials to that.
- 58:00Speaker 1: We just don't. But we have to get better to
- 58:02Speaker 1: that at that.
- 58:03Speaker 2: But one word that I heard in twenty twenty five
- 58:05Speaker 2: that I love is anti intellectualism black people. Yeah, intellectualism,
- 58:12Speaker 2: And I love that, and I love that word. I
- 58:15Speaker 2: don't know if that's always been a word or if
- 58:16Speaker 2: it just came to the front, forefront on the tiktoks
- 58:19Speaker 2: of it all, but I think that has a lot
- 58:22Speaker 2: to do with it, because anti intellectualism to me, okay,
- 58:28Speaker 2: so anti intellectualism. My understanding of it is that you
- 58:34Speaker 2: feel like, because you have watched some YouTube videos and
- 58:38Speaker 2: spend some time and you and maybe you've you know,
- 58:41Speaker 2: gotten into reading about a certain subject, that you are
- 58:44Speaker 2: now an expert, and that people who have spent their
- 58:48Speaker 2: lives researching and understanding and and doing all these things,
- 58:54Speaker 2: spending their lives and careers around this subject, you know
- 58:57Speaker 2: just as much as them because you've been watching YouTube
- 59:00Speaker 2: videos and and and thinking about it.
- 59:03Speaker 1: I don't know it more. I thought it was more
- 59:05Speaker 1: like when you said anti intellectualism, I was thinking more
- 59:08Speaker 1: like black people as a collective, I don't like smart shit.
- 59:12Speaker 1: That's what I thought black people, because we just definitely
- 59:16Speaker 1: saying that black women are the most successful and the
- 59:19Speaker 1: most black men say about black women who got degrees,
- 59:23Speaker 1: it's like, we don't give a fuck about your degree.
- 59:25Speaker 1: That's being anti intellectual. That's what I thought you meant
- 59:28Speaker 1: by it.
- 59:28Speaker 2: No, I mean like I mean like a general overconfidence
- 59:34Speaker 2: in your understanding of a certain subject.
- 59:37Speaker 1: Okay. Yeah, so like that's like me being anti the intellectual. Yeah,
- 59:42Speaker 1: so that's like me saying I could do hair, like right,
- 59:51Speaker 1: you know, I understand why you need to go to
- 59:53Speaker 1: school and get a license to do it, because I
- 59:55Speaker 1: do my own hair all the time. You know, who
- 59:58Speaker 1: needs a chemicals who need to understand the science of hair?
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: That's stupid, you know, That's okay? Okay, So to me,
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: that is.
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: Where the issue really lies is, you know because even
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: if I and I am a chemistry degree ever, but
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: I do not. I don't know anything about you know,
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: the the chemical bonds and things of hair and all
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: those things. So me, I could say, well, because I
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: went to college, like I'm smart, I understand things.
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: I have the understanding and ability to and bleach my
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: hair because and I feel like it's kind of the
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: same for literally everything else. Right.
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: If if they're they're like, oh, you know, buying a
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: house is stupid because then I got to take care of.
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: The maintenance, yes, yes, okay, you know, or buying you know,
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: I don't. I just don't understand the benefit of buying
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: a house because you never really own it. Like, what
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: are we talking about? Nothing? I mean, because they're talking
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: about still having a pay taxes, but you got to
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: pay taxes on everything. You know, there's some finesse you
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: can do with that, but get the house first and
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: then figure out, all right, do what you gotta do. Yeah,
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: is the game. I mean, there's just there's just it
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: can't That is the gateway too. But there is some bullshit.
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: What about like imminent domain like they could Yeah, I
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: mean absolutely that is and that's what they've been doing
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: to black people if they can't even that's exactly.
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: What that's what they're doing on seventy seven right now.
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: They're trying to expand seventy seven and.
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: They always then throughout neighborhoods and they are going to
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: take these people's take these people's land. And the caveat
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: is you.
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: Know, you're gonna get paid a fair amount for your land.
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: And if you and if you just don't accept it,
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: then okay, we're just gonna take it.
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: So, yeah, there is the we should just call this
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: episode Gangland instead of the American. I mean, kind of
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: get in the game or don't. But niggaly, that's crazy.
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: If you if you are, whether you're in your own
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: you're paying somebody's mortgage, you know.
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: But I think a lot of people were put in
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: a position to own multiple homes getting multiple mortgage paid
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: off somebody else. So we missed the game if you
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: didn't get into it. Yeah, you know, the longer you
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: take to get in the game, the harder it is.
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: The Airbnb game, all that shit, all of it. So
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: I don't know, you gotta you just have to wear it.
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: Happened to have the wherewithal back to the intellectual because
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: somebody saying about me, right, I read a lot of shit.
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: I always want to know about something, and I don't
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: think that someone who like, say, you just said you
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: do chemistry, right, tell me went to school for here.
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: I've literally been doing here since I was in first grade,
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: like for real, right, And a lot of what I
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: know about here is trial and era. Right, So you
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: haven't a chemistry degree, but you've never actually done the thing.
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: I could very well say I do know more about
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: this topic than you, just because I don't have the
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: degree in the thing, I do know more about this topic.
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: So I do think there's a that there's value that
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: comes in with doing doing doing the thing, also reading
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: the thing. And we know nowadays our generation these niggas
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: is graduating off of chat GPT. Okay, so you don't
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: know That's why I said, y'all take care of yourself,
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: take care of your bodies. By the time we get old,
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: all the doctors and nurses will be chat GPT. They
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: ain't gonna know ship if they phone down bit you
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: day like the people that's tired they did in the
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: exam room. Everything exactly got it, you know, for the
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: notes that the doctors use, they do use AI s
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: ais like this is they got the robots doing the
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: half the surgery. Now you know what I'm saying. So
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: your best bet is to stay healthy because the good
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: doctors are dead or retired. Old old man and the
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: old ladies who actually was have to do here now
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: like if they actually cured us, they wouldn't make money. Okay.
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: So the dentist just got my mouth sucked up alive
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: you know. Yeah, that's the thing.
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: Just because somebody is a professional or has a degree,
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: that doesn't necessarily mean that they're a good dentist or
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: a good real or a good doctor.
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: That doesn't change that at all, you know. So, yeah,
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: and you know, you may have been doing it since
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: first grade, but.
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: Do you understand the intricacies about why something exists or
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: why something the way that you do? So at times, yes,
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: maybe experience can help get you to the level of
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: someone who learned it and has also has the experience
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: of combined learned knowledge and experience knowledge.
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: So I mean, you know what I mean, It just
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: it depends. It's like it's it's case my case. Everything
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: is so average household excuse me, average house price right
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: now is three hundred and sixty three thousand dollars in
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: America or in America okay. And average rent is twenty
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: seven hundred dollars nationally okay. Average student loan debt per
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: borrower is forty thousand dollars. Okay. So that's our generation.
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: They have us now. Not only do you have mortgage slavery,
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: you have student loan slavery. The majority of our generation
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: is in right now, you told your student. Let me
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: just tell y'all this. When I go to the hospital
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: and I write my address for them to I just
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: put sixteen hundred Pennsylvania every time there, so that sit
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: there and they carobably even look like Okay, that was
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: like shit, because that's twenty years old. I don't even
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: know what sixte that is hilarious. Okay, I gotta find
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: that ship there minus sack hopeful wait, hopefully federal crimes
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: in there right right for tammy for leg this was
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: a joke, right mortgage rates? Oh wait? This is This
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: is the student loan debt in the US average, I
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: mean as a whole. I guess it's one point six
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: to one point eight trillion in federal student student loan debt.
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: So why are we paying ship? Because our government don't
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: pay shit exactly like this. You have t about my
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: credit what your credit looking like in the United States?
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: The credit card so bank did have that money to
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: give you? Anyway, show me on your damn balance sheet
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: where you gave me twenty thousand dollars. I'll pay it
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: back because when I spend money, I got to look
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: at my balance and I see where twenty thousand was
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: deductive I spend twenty thousand or something. They are creating
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: money out of thin air. Imagineery. Okay, it's bullshitting. I
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: r s the fans all of Myers. Y'all need to
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: read that book at the Monster out of Jackal Eye
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: the Island, because it tells you exactly how the Federal
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: Reserve came about and how these people that own everything
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: that you can't talk about, how they have us. This
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: is just a slavery about the Titanic. Girl, Did they
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: talk about the Titanic and apparently all that I don't
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: know if that and that in that particular book. No,
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: but yes, So what you talking about with the Titanic
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: is how they faked the Titanic or they might it
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: might have happened or may not. So two stories. So
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: one side of the story is that the sidebar with
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: it never actually sunk. The other side of it is
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: that they intentionally sank it, sank it with these others
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: who weren't wealthy reserve. So with the Federal Reserve, there
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: used to be gold that backed every dollar. But now
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: what the fuck has been on the gold standard since
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: ron o'reagan? So now it's just paper. We decided it
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: has value. And this is why people like Godafi was
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: murdered by our government. Sorry to get into it, yeah,
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: because he his people was set up. You know what
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: I'm saying. He was trying to put their money back
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: on the gold standard. Anybody who tries doing that, they
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: take your outside of here. And so it's an idea.
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: Our US dollar is an idea, just like crypto. Yeah,
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: I'm about to say, like bitcoin, an idea that buy into.
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: Because of all these tariffs and all this nonsense, other
- 1:08:35Speaker 2: countries are looking to trade out outside of and leave.
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: United State always had a false sense of like freedom.
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: You know, we have always been we we paid the
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: most to live here, but we pay for other people
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: to live better in other countries for sure, other smaller
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: countries that I won't mention. But we're in debt because
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: of these places. Right. So I am America first because
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: this is where the fuck we at right definitely. So
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: if anybody I don't understand how an American, somebody who
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: lives there, grew up in your whole family is from
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: this land, would not be America first. We're struggling. We
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: fucked up over here. It's homeless people. We have the
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: largest prison population of the entire world. Most of our
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: family members are in prison.
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't think black people have the luxury of
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: considering other nations outside of America. We're not even considering America.
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: We got to consider ourselves, and we got to consider
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: our neighborhood.
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: Start. You got to Charleston first. Start there, Start with
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: your house. Because we black people in America are on
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: an island by ourselves, and so many movements have been
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: built off the backs of things that we've done civil rights.
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: Other people coming to this country based on ship we
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: did with civil rights. Our people died in the streets,
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: not theirs, and then they come and they ask us
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: to stand in solidarity with them. I just I've never
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: been to somebody. I've never had anybody say anything racially
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: towards me, other than a white Hispanic man when I
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: was like ten, he called me a four monkey. That happened.
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: So I think there's mechanisms that have been put in
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: place to make us hate each other, may make us
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: hate the white man. I think sometimes now the black
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: woman is the man to black men. Like it's just
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: it's all fucked up, and it's really like, we just
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: got to get back to Michael Jackson. Man, it starts
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: with the man in the mirroring the baby. Don't have
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: the baby say that. That's my soap box, Jackie. If
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: there's anything that you want to leave the people with
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: that are ready to buy a home or going into
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: foreclothes are just whatever you want to leave people with,
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: let's go. Let's hear it.
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: Do what you can afford, you know, do whatever it
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: is that you can afford for me. I am not
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: the type of person who is going to try to
- 1:11:13Speaker 2: convince you to do something that you're not ready to do.
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: If I'm not trying to talk you into it, you know,
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: if it is your goal, I want to be a resource.
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: The realtor you choose should be a resource, should be
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: a wealth of knowledge and connection so that they can
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: get done for you whatever.
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: You need done in your particular situation.
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: Get some education, you know, if your aunt is a realtor,
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: you can always call me. If you don't know one,
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: but talk to a subject matter expert, because you don't
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: know everything. I bought a house without being a realtor
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: on my own, bought and told a couple of.
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: Houses without a realtor.
- 1:11:53Speaker 2: And when I went to school and learned all the
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: things and then got into it and learned on the job.
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: I was like, wow, I you know, I missed out.
- 1:12:02Speaker 2: I got I definitely got finessed, you know what I mean.
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: And I thought I was like, oh yeah, to get
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: you what you said, contact to you? How can they
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: do that? So you can call me?
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: My phone number is nine A oh two five nine
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: sixteen oh six, or I'm on Instagram Carolina's Homegirl.
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: So yeah, that's you can DM me whatever you need
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: to do.
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: I'm available and so whenever you are, you know, going
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: through the process.
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: And if you prefer to rent, you know what I mean, rent,
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: I can help you with that too. So buying, selling,
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: and leasing, I do it all. All right, clock now,
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: I know you've heard the show, so no you know, Okay,
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: then we're going to ask you for a dumbich story.
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: I'm gonna embarrass myself. Okay, listen, listen, all right, right,
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: you know this is the safe space. But wait, we're
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: gonna go to commercial. We'll be right back and we're
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: gonna get to that story. Okay, we'll be right back, y'all. Alright,
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: we be okay, and we're bad y'all. All right, let's imagine,
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: let's get into your story. Time to breathe.
- 1:13:20Speaker 2: So this was probably ten years ago, but this has
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: to be probably hands down one of my dumbest, dumbest bitch,
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: dumb bitch moments.
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: So I was dating this guy. We were we were
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: off and on, but we were like generally serious. That
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: was my man, and we were generally committed. And I
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: committed relationship how you know, often most of the time
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: of the time, but you know how it goes. You
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: get mad and you'd be like, I'm done, and then
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: you know, be right back together because that's my man. Fine.
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: So anyway, we had a little break, came back and
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: you know, one thing led to another, and you know,
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: I miss my little period and I was like, oh
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: my god, hold on now, I'm twenty four, twenty five
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: or something like that, and I'm freaking out because I'm like,
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: you know, we're that's my man most of the time,
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: you know what I mean.
- 1:14:19Speaker 2: So I'm like terrified. So I'm like, okay, let me
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: go talk to him.
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: And tell him. So I meet up with him and
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: I'm like, I can't even get it out. I got
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: my little I got it in a little plastic baggy
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: and I'm just like and he's like shocked, right, So
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: he immediately goes into.
- 1:14:42Speaker 2: I'm not ready to be a dad. Mind you, this
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: is the man with teenagers. So he's like, I'm not
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: ready to be a dad again.
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: You're not ready to be a mom And I'm like
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: I'm and I'm like, I know, I'm not, like I
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: don't want to do this either, like I mean, you know,
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: not yet. So I was like, I mean, I don't shoot,
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: I should not. I don't know. I'm young, I'm cool,
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: i'm him, i'm skinny, all the things we think about.
- 1:15:07Speaker 2: Yeah, and so I was like, okay, fine whatever, like
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: and also I don't want to deal with no man
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: who don't want me.
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: To have it. I was like I ain't that girl,
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: you know what I mean, Like I have to be
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: a great mom. So you know, I did what I
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: needed to do. So after that we kind of broke
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: up because I was like, okay't you know mess with
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: no men like don't want to don't want to be
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: with me, like I'm insane. So then like during Christmas
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: New Year's here go my mom. You know you don't
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: want to hold grudges. She wasn't necessarily talking about him,
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: but you know, she was just we were just having
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: a conversation. So I was like, you know, okay, cool.
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: So I was like, it's a new year or whatever.
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: You know, I'll talk to him, get him, Mama, go ahead.
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: It a dumb bitch story. She didn't know, she didn't
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: know you was going back to. She didn't know. She
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: had nothing to do with her. That was me. This
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: is my in that advice mind to some boot um
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: bitch story. Okay, this has nothing to do with Gloria.
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: I love you, mom.
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: If you see this, the girl I was being a
- 1:16:12Speaker 2: dumb bitch. So anyway, I'm like, okay, fine whatever, I'll
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: go talk to him whatever. So we go out, we
- 1:16:17Speaker 2: have a good time. We saw we go to a
- 1:16:19Speaker 2: just larious show. Okay, comedy show and old this this was.
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: How old are you right now? I'm thirty four, Okayesselario
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: has been out for ten years twenty sixteen, Oh shit,
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: going by. You don't sound like ten years ago? What
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: it was? Yeah, so maybe it was like eight ish
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: years ago. Maybe I was maybe I was twenty six
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: or something like that. Anyway, so don't be doing man
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: down just aloud. So anyway, it goes well.
- 1:16:52Speaker 2: So we go we go to dinner again, and we're
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: out with the kids and his best friend at this place,
- 1:16:58Speaker 2: at this place. So they he's like, we gotta leave.
- 1:17:01Speaker 2: We they leave. He's like, let's go back inside and
- 1:17:04Speaker 2: have another drink. I'm like, okay, cool.
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: You know.
- 1:17:06Speaker 2: We get inside and he immediately is like and he's
- 1:17:12Speaker 2: like clearly clearly stressed about something.
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: You know, how to do the the hair like she
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: I'm like, okay, what is it? Spit it out what
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: it is? He was like a little bit. I'm getting
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: mad a little bit because I feel like so he
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: so he sits me down, he's talking. I'm like what.
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: So he finally he spits it out. He's like, I
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: just had a baby. Oh this motherfucker and she's white.
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: The mom is white. Ship That's what he said though,
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: And I was like, why would you add that? But
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: that does you know? It was bad at something? He
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: need to buy something, like he's just out here getting
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: white bitches pregnant girl, like you try to buy house.
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: I'm fighting for my wife out here. So I'm like,
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: oh no, so of course it did.
- 1:18:21Speaker 2: I'm like, oh my god, so so of course I
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: do the math right. And three months before is when
- 1:18:28Speaker 2: I was like, and he was telling me how he
- 1:18:32Speaker 2: wasn't ready.
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: To be an appearent again, and I was like, bitch,
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: you just had two women pregnant, but you're not ready
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: and you just didn't want you know, you didn't want
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: to have both you did, so you knew that like
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: me being she was too far along exactly. So she
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: was six months you had. You had a lady six
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: months pregnant when I told you I was pregnant, and
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: you just raw dog and skating and don't want to
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: be a dad age babe. You were sharing dick with
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: a bigee. Yeah that one that said one that says
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: nigga girl, a white girl that says nigga. Yeah. Oh,
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: he didn't have like a good white girl. He had
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: like a a nigga white girl. I mean, of all
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: people in the whole entire world. So suret cut like
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: a bob like she had. She was a blonde girl.
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: I don't know she was blonde. She had like you know,
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: the grown out roots where it's just like black and
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: then oh wow, one of those It was extremely embarrassing. Okay, Anyway,
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: so I said, you say you keep sucking with him.
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: You bought the baby a gift? You bought you bought
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: a baby shot a gift? Like usually we had to add, Okay,
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: where is the I'm bitch part? Like we missed it?
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: She said it so quick and then I sat for
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: a year. Oh, but that happens when you got your
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: emotions and feelings involved, you stick around, Lauria, I'm glorrying
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: like that, Glory. I have nothing new with that ship
