- 0:00Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Three O Take where we talk
- 0:04all things Major League Baseball.
- 0:06Here's Kyle Corwin and Nate Reyes.
- 0:10It all starts right now. Welcome back to the Three O Take
- 0:16presented by Sea Geek. This is episode 507.
- 0:19I'll be your host, Kyle Corden. I'm here with my Co host Nate
- 0:22Reyes Night. Let's loosen up.
- 0:27Let's loosen up. Let's talk some ball.
- 0:30It's Monday .2 is what I like to call Wednesday Monday .22 Point
- 0:35O. What do you think you.
- 0:38Don't think so. I thought today was Thursday, so
- 0:40thanks for that. Well.
- 0:44Do you go now? You got to go in the office on
- 0:46Thursdays, right? Now I'm home Thursdays, which is
- 0:49real nice. You're home Thursdays, so you
- 0:54thought you were you Just remember that episode where
- 0:58Dwight thinks it's Friday and they fool him all day and he
- 1:03doesn't show up until like noon? I'm here, I'm here.
- 1:09Oh Yep. How about?
- 1:10Today was Thursday so I would have gone into the office today.
- 1:12My boss have been awfully confused.
- 1:15Casual Friday, Is that a thing? It's casual everyday dude.
- 1:21I'm Gene's in a sweatshirt everyday.
- 1:24It's. Glorious.
- 1:26Speaking of casual, yeah, real casual.
- 1:31Can we talk about this Junior Caminero home run trot?
- 1:35One of the most casual things I've ever seen in my life.
- 1:39Buckle up, I don't know what's longer our our quote theme song
- 1:45or this home run trot. This home run trot, I believe,
- 1:50I, I think I got the, I think we got the clock on it.
- 1:53I think it comes in at 56 seconds.
- 1:56I love it. I love it.
- 1:58I don't love it, but it's not MLB so like whatever who cares.
- 2:03Why not? So if you you don't know, this
- 2:05is game seven of the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball
- 2:09League Winter Ball, their championship series.
- 2:13Yes, Winter ball. Junior Caminaro Caminero
- 2:18Caminaro. Caminaro Raise, raise.
- 2:25Carbonara Carrabba's Junior Olive Garden.
- 2:31They still got those. Junior Olive Garden.
- 2:35No, he he blasted a ball in the ninth.
- 2:39It wasn't even a walk off mind. You tight?
- 2:41Yeah, tight up, right. No, no, they they went ahead.
- 2:47I think they went ahead, but it wasn't a walk off, which was
- 2:50kind of funny. But all like you said, it's not
- 2:51Major League Baseball, so it it's not as surprising.
- 2:54No rules when you when you put that into consideration.
- 2:57But let's let's just take a look here.
- 2:59Let's take a look see what happened.
- 3:02Aero Ascencio, a leader in Wego Salvado at all of Tiempos guru
- 3:08for a centrefit. No, no, no, no.
- 3:12I can't believe it. That breaks the scoreboard.
- 3:19I. Mean look at this.
- 4:01Junior Caminero. And that's not even the craziest
- 4:31part of this video. That's the insane.
- 4:39I'm like, what are we? What are we doing?
- 4:42This is. Oh he freaking heated his helmet
- 4:46for like 5 steps before home too.
- 4:48He pulled the wing. I mean, I'm not going to I'm not
- 4:50going to give Jesse Winker credit for it.
- 4:52But you know, the move that Jesse Winker pulled where full
- 4:56stop before he gets to first base, rips the uniform.
- 5:00I don't know, Chucks, the helmet did that and then another full
- 5:03stop at at third base. Just insanity.
- 5:06But yeah, you're you're right. I mean, chaos just and, and we
- 5:11saw it at the World Baseball Classic.
- 5:13We got, we got a little taste of that.
- 5:15I mean, a, a substantial taste actually.
- 5:17Like we were we were in the thick of it there like that.
- 5:19It's a whole another ball game. It's a whole another ball game.
- 5:22It's so different. Like there's, it's just so
- 5:25different. And for anybody, 'cause like if
- 5:29there, if there's anybody for who would be difficult to shift
- 5:34to this side of the spectrum, it'd be you and me.
- 5:37You and me have we were last on the last on the train for let
- 5:41the kids play. We're we're I'm not going to say
- 5:45anti bat flip, but like we think there's.
- 5:49Swag, by the way. There's swag in no celebration
- 5:55in my mind. So for us to be able to do that,
- 5:59but we're talking MLB compared to international baseball,
- 6:04International baseball is something so different, dude.
- 6:07Like being at the WBC, there's there's fans that don't sit
- 6:15down, that don't stop making noise.
- 6:20The chants are. The chants are.
- 6:23Constant and that's like that's that's what winter ball looks
- 6:29like to me. That's what that looked like to
- 6:31me. Like it.
- 6:32It's just like, let's go, let's go.
- 6:37We go Pudge in the chat. How about?
- 6:40That. Shout out Pudge.
- 6:42Welcome, Pudge. Welcome, Pudge.
- 6:44Yeah, I just wanted to cover that before we got into in the
- 6:47in the things because I did not I did not want to go this
- 6:51episode without without showing that clip because I mean.
- 6:54Unbelievable. And anytime I'll I'll last thing
- 6:58before we move on. I anytime I see a clip like
- 7:00this, it reminds me of what I said, which I stand by.
- 7:04I, I'm waiting for the day that it happens.
- 7:07You've probably heard me say this a dozen times at this point
- 7:10in our lifetime. We will see somebody.
- 7:13You, you know, you see the full stop before you get to first
- 7:16base and you like ripping the jersey out.
- 7:18We will see. Mark my words, I'm you think I'm
- 7:22joking. I'm dead serious.
- 7:23We will see pants drop following a a a significant late inning,
- 7:30possibly walk off home run before the the guy gets to first
- 7:35base. Mark my words, pants will drop
- 7:39and take that. Take that out of context.
- 7:42Clip it if you want. Pants will drop in our lifetime.
- 7:47What do you mean how does it work?
- 7:49RIP the jersey. They don't rock the baggy pants
- 7:51no more, so they're not going to slide over the cleats very well.
- 7:55They got those tweeners now. Those tweeners are snug.
- 7:58Intentional. I'm not saying they're going to
- 8:00fall by accident. This is very much going to be
- 8:02like, I'm letting it all hang. I'm I'm putting it on the table.
- 8:05I'm that guy that you watch. We're going to.
- 8:07We're going to see it. I'll see it.
- 8:11Yeah, believe me, I'm not saying I want to see it.
- 8:13You're saying it will happen in a lifetime.
- 8:16Speaking of seeing things in our lifetime, I never thought I
- 8:20never thought I'd see the Yankees turn into, I mean, well
- 8:27known as one of the richest and most valuable sports franchises
- 8:34in the. World but also fourth most
- 8:37valuable 4th yes 4th to to according to Forbes if we're
- 8:41going to. Valued at $7.55 billion.
- 8:45Well known one of the most valuable franchises, but
- 8:49learning very quickly. Also one of the softest,
- 8:51apparently. How Steinbrenner, what are we
- 8:53doing, guy? What are we doing?
- 8:57This is this is embarrassing. I don't.
- 9:03Like can you like lose a last name?
- 9:09Can you be like removed? Legally I think it should be
- 9:12allowed in this scenario because this is I mean.
- 9:16It's awful. George has got to be rolling
- 9:18over in his grave. Man, this.
- 9:19Is kind of easy man. Just do your job, man.
- 9:24Yeah. Don't be.
- 9:27Don't be. Make it like fans.
- 9:29Fans are are in a different world here.
- 9:31Fans have the right to complain about what the Dodgers are doing
- 9:34if they so choose. I don't necessarily fall into
- 9:37that camp. I think what they're doing is
- 9:39wild. I I think it's unprecedented.
- 9:41Sure. But everything they're doing is
- 9:44legal. We've we've, we've covered that
- 9:46point multiple times. Everything they're doing is
- 9:48legal. So complain about it as much as
- 9:51you want, but they're not breaking any rules.
- 9:57But as the owner of the Yankees, to come out and and and make the
- 10:04Dodgers your boogeyman and really on behalf, which I
- 10:07thought was the richest part of all of this, no pun intended,
- 10:14almost coming out on behalf of the rest of baseball being
- 10:18ultimately what he said, the quote, the quote was, well,
- 10:20look, it's difficult for most of us owners to be able to do the
- 10:23kind of things that they're doing now.
- 10:26We'll see if it pays off. They still have they still have
- 10:29to have a season relatively injury free for to work out for
- 10:32them. And it's a long season, as you
- 10:33know. And once you get to the
- 10:35postseason, anything can happen. We've seen that time and time
- 10:37again. It's difficult for most of us
- 10:40owners to be able to do the kind of things that.
- 10:43They're doing, that's what. Like, he's not wrong.
- 10:46What's crazy is that, like, the whole statement is correct,
- 10:49except grouping him in the US category is the most ridiculous
- 10:57thing. The most ridiculous thing.
- 11:01This is the worst quote I've I've, I think I've ever heard
- 11:05out of his mouth. This is bad.
- 11:09This is bad. It's it's not.
- 11:12It sucks for the other organizations to just be like,
- 11:16like, why is this guy speaking for us?
- 11:18You know what I mean? Yeah, it's true.
- 11:23It's true, man. He just, he just has like,
- 11:26there's something out of YY land that just makes you scratch your
- 11:31head every offseason now. And I mean, his dad was in
- 11:38headlines all the time, but it was never for being like a poor
- 11:42me situation, you know what I mean?
- 11:46Like there were he was famous for, you know, kind of outing
- 11:52contract negotiations with players and, you know,
- 11:57declining, you know, trade requests and things like that
- 12:01and making it, you know, like villain villainizing.
- 12:05The the player is villainizing a word.
- 12:07Let's roll with it, You know, just making the the the player
- 12:11the bad guy in scenarios. And like that, that's just what
- 12:14he did. And he he was constantly in the
- 12:18headlines. And when it was followed up with
- 12:22winning in the late 90s, like it all was forgiven.
- 12:26But let's not forget that like, fanbase hated him in the 80s and
- 12:32early 90s, you know, like he was a mess.
- 12:37So it's it's difficult to sit here and say like George was the
- 12:44standard, but at the same time, he never cried.
- 12:50Poor me. I got a little All he did was
- 12:54flex. Well, I've got a little exercise
- 12:56for us, so let's do a little compare and contrast between how
- 12:59and and Father George. Let's, let's let's revisit Hal's
- 13:05quote. Well, look, it's difficult for
- 13:08most of us owners to be able to do the kind of things that
- 13:11they're doing. Let's go over to dad George
- 13:14Steinbrenner. Winning is the most important
- 13:17thing in my life after breathing, breathing first,
- 13:21winning next. I think Hal's adopted.
- 13:25Father of the year for sure, yeah.
- 13:28I think Hal's adopted because those two schools of thought do
- 13:31not mesh whatsoever. And you can't in, in the
- 13:36Steinbrenner family line, You can't have one.
- 13:39You can't have the father saying, I will literally after
- 13:42breathing, I will do whatever it takes to win.
- 13:44And then that you, you can't have the sun being like, well,
- 13:48guys, look, I like winning as much as the next person.
- 13:53But you know, I, I draw a line in the sand when, when I feel
- 13:57like other teams, namely the Dodgers are, are sort of playing
- 14:04a little unfairly at which again, everything they're doing
- 14:07is legal. But you know, it these, these
- 14:11two, like I said, these two schools of thought just don't
- 14:13match or they just don't mesh. They don't line up.
- 14:16Yeah, look, man, like I think what they're doing is, is like
- 14:29you said, it's uncharted territory.
- 14:31And I think there will be a point where more players take
- 14:37the selfless route. Is it hard to keep up when the
- 14:44Dodgers have the best player in the world on a deferred contract
- 14:48like that, only making 2 million a year?
- 14:50That's that's going against your cap hit.
- 14:52Yeah, like it, it is hard to keep up because he's the best
- 14:57player in the world, you know what I'm saying?
- 14:59Like anywhere. He he and he offered that
- 15:02contract and offered that structure to multiple
- 15:04organizations. He made that known wherever he
- 15:08was going that that was the structure he had in mind.
- 15:13So I mean, like, is it rare that a team has the best player in
- 15:18the world who is basically free and they're still able to do so
- 15:23much more to build around him? Yeah, I mean, that's rare.
- 15:27It's not necessarily unfair. I think that aspect to it is
- 15:31hard to keep up with because you can't go get another Otani and
- 15:35and have him for a bag of chips. So I understand that ideology.
- 15:39Sure. But like at the same time, no
- 15:44Yankee fan cares about you spending another 60 or 70 mil.
- 15:49Like nobody cares that that hurts.
- 15:53It doesn't hurt you. You have so much money.
- 15:56The Yankees have so much money. And again, there's nothing
- 16:01stopping the New York Yankees from structuring contracts the
- 16:04way that the Los Angeles Dodgers do.
- 16:06How just needs to have a little bit more self-awareness.
- 16:09And look, I know I I recognize the hat I'm wearing.
- 16:12So you're probably taken taken what I'm saying with a grain of
- 16:15salt, but I I think most people would probably agree that Howe
- 16:19just needs to have some self-awareness and understanding
- 16:22that the Yankees are not the preferred destination anymore.
- 16:25That's the reality of it. They used to be because you
- 16:28could throw whatever amount of money you wanted at at at any
- 16:30given player and they were going to take it because what better
- 16:33honor in in in all of Major League Baseball than to Don the
- 16:37pinstripes? That's just not the way things
- 16:40work anymore. Los Angeles is clearly a far
- 16:43better destination in terms of your career, in terms of your
- 16:46marketability, in terms of your opportunity to win.
- 16:49That's that's that's fact. Yeah, well, I mean, you're also
- 16:53talking about like, think of the age everyone that everyone that
- 16:58you know grew up watching the Yankees dynasty years, probably
- 17:02hated them. And now they're at that age,
- 17:05we're like, I don't want to choose that place.
- 17:07So that's OK. I don't know.
- 17:08There's so many different factors to this.
- 17:10And it is what it is It I don't really care if players want to
- 17:17play there or not. Like I'd I'd be thrilled if the
- 17:21best players in baseball said, yeah, that's the that's my place
- 17:24no matter what. But like, that's just not how it
- 17:26goes. They have they have other
- 17:28factors in their decision and whatever.
- 17:30But like I definitely don't want the owner of the team coming out
- 17:35and saying poor me when it's literally look it up.
- 17:39Forbes list is fourth most valuable franchise in all of
- 17:46sports. And if we take money out of it,
- 17:50like, I don't know, the Yankee emblem is up there with like
- 17:55Nike. It's got, it's got to stand for
- 17:57something like. People in the world wearing it
- 17:59that have no idea, they don't even watch games, you know what
- 18:01I mean? Like, that's what that emblem
- 18:03represents. And, and that's, that's what is
- 18:07out there. And it's just, it's sad, dude.
- 18:09It really is sad. And so I, I think it's, it's
- 18:13time to, it's time to move on. You know, like we got to see,
- 18:17we're going to see things shaking up soon.
- 18:21Maybe House sells it at some point or, I don't know, some
- 18:26desperate, angry Yankee fan poisons his food or something.
- 18:31OK. On that note, Speaking of
- 18:34selling the the Padres are are looking to shop Dylan CS and
- 18:39Michael King. I think, I think we knew CS was
- 18:43a possibility. I think we've known that for a
- 18:45little while. Correct me if I'm wrong.
- 18:46I don't think that was news with the Michael King edition, but I,
- 18:50I feel like lately or as of yesterday, the day before,
- 18:55Michael King's name has been floated out as a possible trade
- 19:01option for the Padres looking to move on from from that contract
- 19:09as he enters. Well, both of them are going
- 19:11into their final season of of ARB control.
- 19:14So, you know, I would have thought that the pod maybe, I
- 19:22mean, certainly maybe they're just testing the waters, but I
- 19:24would have thought that maybe with the way that King had
- 19:27pitched, and I think the way a lot of people had at least close
- 19:32to that franchise, would have hoped that he would have pitched
- 19:35as a as coming back as part of that return for Soto.
- 19:41Why, why wouldn't you try to find a way to make that work?
- 19:43I mean, that's a that's a piece that you're and I understand
- 19:48your log jam with some some pretty ugly contracts right now.
- 19:52I get that, but I can't imagine that contract, should it come
- 19:58time to to pay the man I I can't imagine that being an albatross
- 20:02of a contract. Trying to figure out what the
- 20:07like, is there like another play here?
- 20:09Is there like another another thing they're trying to like
- 20:15manipulate the market in a way I'm looking at like I'm looking
- 20:21at who's left on the free agent list.
- 20:23And outside of like Flaherty, it's not really any other
- 20:30pictures that I would say this is worth it for Alonzo, which
- 20:38would be the strangest fit in the world in my mind, and Alex
- 20:42Bregman, which they don't need. So like I'm trying to figure out
- 20:46what is there anything else to this?
- 20:48Because I'm super tired of the Dylan sees back and forth thing.
- 20:52Like, are you in or out? Like, what's the point of making
- 20:57these moves and being out a year later?
- 20:59Like, I don't know. We've said this multiple times
- 21:03during the offseason. Like, you had so many different
- 21:07Dodgers saying that that was the hardest series they played and
- 21:10that was the team they were most worried about in the postseason.
- 21:13And you've got a lot of you've got a lot of people asking if
- 21:15the Dodgers broke the Padres. Like the Padres are so good.
- 21:23You're so good. They were.
- 21:26You have everything right there. They're losing pieces, man.
- 21:29You've lost Profar. You've lost Kim.
- 21:34Replaceable pieces in my mind. Sure, but if the.
- 21:37Core is still there. I I understand, but like that
- 21:41core is not getting any younger. And if you if, if you're talking
- 21:45about shedding these pieces, potentially you're only you're
- 21:49only declining. And who's to say that they even
- 21:52replaced the guys that they lost?
- 21:53There were yes, all at the end of the day, on paper replaceable
- 21:58players. But if, if, if you're shedding
- 22:01further names and you don't replace those guys, where does
- 22:03that leave you In a worse place than you were last year when,
- 22:07like you said, Dodgers were very clear as to the the challenges
- 22:13that that series in the post season provided them.
- 22:19You were close. You like you were knocking on
- 22:21the door being a legitimate threat to what has become the
- 22:25beast of of Major League Baseball.
- 22:28And then you're just you're on doing it all.
- 22:30You're walking it all back. You say what?
- 22:33Let's step back. Let's retreat back to HQ, figure
- 22:36this out and then we'll go at it again.
- 22:38Why you didn't need to do that? You're nothing.
- 22:42They have nothing to work with. Their farm is shot and it's
- 22:46strange to me that like, so you look at like a Dave Dombrowski
- 22:51and you you get it. Like he's going to clean out
- 22:54your farm. He's going to Max out your
- 22:56credit cards, but he's going to double down on it.
- 23:00You know what I'm saying? Like that's, that's what he
- 23:02does. That's the route we're going.
- 23:04That's that's the type of roster we're going to build.
- 23:07And we're going to do it until we until we, you know, find a
- 23:10ring. Now it's been a weird situation
- 23:13in Philly, but like AJ Preller, I don't know.
- 23:16I can't, I don't know what's going on.
- 23:18I don't understand. You trade for superstars, you
- 23:22get rid of the superstar next year, you give up all your
- 23:26prospects to get superstar. Then you reverse it.
- 23:31You're getting really close to being the top dog in the NL
- 23:36multiple times and then you like to it's like every, every step
- 23:40they take forward, it's 2 steps back and it's their own doing
- 23:46and I can't figure out why they're doing it.
- 23:49I don't figure out why they're like, I have nothing against
- 23:53Xander Bogart's, but like, that was a dumb contract, you know
- 23:58what I mean? Like 2.
- 23:59Things on that, two things on that.
- 24:01It was a dumb contract. No, three things.
- 24:03It was a dumb contract. You'd be dumb not to take that
- 24:07if you're Xander Bogart's. And three, I said it when it,
- 24:10when the deal happened or I I said it when he started to
- 24:14decline. I said that his level of output
- 24:17would not have plummeted to the level that it did had he stayed
- 24:21in Boston. I believe he I actually do.
- 24:25Yeah, man. But to your point about the farm
- 24:27system, you weren't wrong, dude. They're the the list that I'm
- 24:29looking at has them 28th this yeah they've they've just been
- 24:33gutted and it does this this article goes into talking about
- 24:39the potential impact of being able to offload CS to to
- 24:42replenish that a little bit so it makes sense why they're doing
- 24:46it but. I mean, it is, I, I think it is
- 24:49tough because they had obviously their owner passed away.
- 24:53So like their ownership change in the middle of this era that
- 24:57you're in, then maybe the philosophy changes and trailers,
- 25:02you know, forced, you know, to make do and figure things out.
- 25:08And here's his limitations that you have to follow moving
- 25:11forward. Like maybe that's the scenario,
- 25:14but at the same time, I feel like, you know, you're, you're
- 25:16already this far in, might as well keep going.
- 25:20You know what I mean? Might as well go for it and like
- 25:24the very least you can potentially have a ring to show
- 25:27for it. That's what I'm.
- 25:29Saying I feel like that's the Phillies, that's why I use that
- 25:31comp 'cause it's like that's the Dombrowski mentality is like,
- 25:34we're going all in, I'm going to burn everything.
- 25:37Exactly, I'm going to leave every last bit you can before
- 25:41the wheels fall off and then and then hit the reset button and go
- 25:44at it again. And and you know what, like
- 25:46whether you agree with that or not, and there's probably Philly
- 25:48fans in the chat that are like, actually, I hate this right now,
- 25:51but at least you could say they went for it.
- 25:55At least you could say they tried everything they could,
- 25:57which majority of organizations aren't doing.
- 26:01So it's like if you're the Padres, you've committed this
- 26:04much money to your core. You've gone this far in with
- 26:09Xander and Manny and Tatis and Cronenworth, all long term deals
- 26:13like fill in the gaps and go for it.
- 26:19Now's not the time to like get rid of.
- 26:23It's not even freaking frontline talent.
- 26:25We're talking, we're talking ace Cy Young talent.
- 26:33And Michael King was the return for Soto.
- 26:36So it's like I don't understand. I feel like he's like, I mean,
- 26:40call me crazy or it's not, it's not crazy to say, but I
- 26:43understand there's a, a business side to these discussions.
- 26:46But I feel like Michael King's a great fit in San Diego.
- 26:48I don't know why, he just seems like, I don't know.
- 26:52It just seems like one of those. Guys, he'll be a household.
- 26:55I, I understand you've been a lot of people knew about him
- 26:59after the Soto trade because that was like the premier name.
- 27:03He, he will be a household name within a year or two.
- 27:05I can promise you. He's he's insanely good.
- 27:08I will credit you for that. Yeah.
- 27:09I mean you. This isn't new.
- 27:11This isn't a new take. You've been you've been saying
- 27:13this for. A while when he was still a set
- 27:14up man. Like he's got it.
- 27:16So that's common. But yeah man, I'm just, I'm
- 27:19confused with all of it. Well, Speaking of the Padres for
- 27:23now, former Padre, how Song Kim signed with the Rays today, Two
- 27:28year, $29 million deal that includes an opt out after the
- 27:32first season. You know, I was talking about
- 27:38it. I was talking about this with
- 27:40somebody at work yesterday. They were talking about the
- 27:43American League East and talking about what the bottom of that
- 27:47division is going to look like. And this person I was talking
- 27:50with was like, you know, I just, I don't see how the Rays don't
- 27:57finish last. And I said what I've been saying
- 27:59for the last handful of years, the Rays, whether or not they do
- 28:03it, it just seems like they find a way to manage 90 wins every
- 28:09year, year in and year out. I mean, you'd have to go back
- 28:11and look at what the actual win totals were to confirm whether
- 28:14or not that's true, relatively speaking.
- 28:16But it just feels like that because it's constantly a system
- 28:21of next man up. Like who is this guy?
- 28:23Oh my goodness, this is one of the best players in base or
- 28:25could be one of the best players in baseball in the next within
- 28:29the next 10 years, Stuff like that.
- 28:30It's like, where do where do they where do they manufacture
- 28:33these guys? And this is just one of those.
- 28:37I don't, I'm not even I'm I'm not going to put any slander on
- 28:40house on Kim's name. I love house on Kim.
- 28:44I've been a Hassan Kim believer going, I mean, even before last
- 28:48year. Some fantasy bias there, but
- 28:50whatever. For sure.
- 28:53But the for all intents and purposes here, for the sake of
- 28:56this discussion, this is not a a blockbuster move.
- 28:59This is not a a major splash in my opinion, but this is one of
- 29:03those moves that contributes to the narrative that I subscribe
- 29:07to that they just they make the moves necessary.
- 29:10They bring in the right people. They they slot people into the
- 29:14right roles, into the right positions to put themselves in a
- 29:18position to win 90 games. And Hassan Kim is certainly
- 29:21going to help your chances in that respect because Hassan Kim
- 29:24is a good baseball player. And I, he could have, he could
- 29:29have wound up anywhere and I would have said, I love this fit
- 29:31and for the Rays, for his athleticism, for the way that
- 29:34that slots into their style of play.
- 29:38I think this is I, I think this is a great signing.
- 29:43I don't think, I don't think they're getting enough respect
- 29:50to be honest. And as I'm scrolling through
- 29:52this roster, I think everyone's forgetting the names that are
- 29:57coming back, then Mcclanahan coming back, Shane Baz coming
- 30:05back, Rasmussen coming back, not to mention Peppio.
- 30:10Taj Bradley had a run last year worth talking about.
- 30:15You go around the lineup, I mean, they did bring in Danny
- 30:18Jansen to to catch, so you got a little juice there.
- 30:21The infield talked about him at the beginning of the show.
- 30:27Kim and Arrow. Yandi Diaz is always going to
- 30:29hit Brandon Lau. I feel like I'm curious to see
- 30:34what's what's real there. So it feels like it's getting
- 30:39somewhat questionable, but I don't know.
- 30:41Maybe that was just a fluke last year.
- 30:43You got to remember they traded for Christopher Morale with the
- 30:47Cubs in that Esock Pereides deal.
- 30:50Tyler Walls is still going to play defense.
- 30:52Like there's enough there. Taylor Walls say, did I say
- 30:57Tyler? There's enough there that they
- 31:01can, they can string together dubs, they can get some dubs.
- 31:07I was looking at their payroll and I'm like, I wonder if
- 31:09they're in like a similar A's territory a little bit when I
- 31:16projected to have a $70 million payroll.
- 31:19And so again, like there's that target number that they got to
- 31:22get to for revenue sharing just to be eligible.
- 31:25And I know it's like consecutive years.
- 31:27There's a lot of rules around that stuff, but.
- 31:31They're just not, I mean, sure, on paper, maybe like in terms of
- 31:35legality and and needing to reach certain thresholds, sure.
- 31:38But I think in terms of the public perception, they're not
- 31:41even, they're not mentioned in the same breath as the as the
- 31:44A's. Because while they do it
- 31:47unconventionally, they figure out ways to win and they have
- 31:50adopted it as their own style. And that's what that's how they
- 31:53do it. They have they have an
- 31:54incredible scouting and analytical department and and
- 31:59development department like and great coaching.
- 32:02So like they do it in their own way.
- 32:04And I think they still at least try to compete where it feels
- 32:07like the A's just kind of punt. And it's like obvious to
- 32:10everybody, but I don't know, man, like you got to remember
- 32:15those those names specifically in the starting staff that are
- 32:17coming back next year that are detrimental to to their success.
- 32:23So will they finish last and they'll east?
- 32:28I don't know. I mean, we got a hot takes and
- 32:30predictions episode coming down the line here pretty soon.
- 32:32But I think they're going to be better than what people are
- 32:38predicting. And I wouldn't use last year too
- 32:42much as a as a measurement. You know what I mean?
- 32:50That's just me, but I do like Hassan Kim.
- 32:54I keep seeing that his return date is getting closer and
- 32:57closer. Opening day.
- 32:58I think he's like May is what they're projecting.
- 33:03Yeah, I think he said. Taylor Wallace is going to be
- 33:05holding it down there at short the time being so.
- 33:08Yeah. So it's a good piece.
- 33:13You can potentially move it. Weird that there's an opt out,
- 33:19but I guess I don't know like not seeing, not playing for a
- 33:26while, being hurt for a while, missing the beginning of the
- 33:28year, not having a spring training.
- 33:31Maybe those are factors where you probably won't see a super,
- 33:36super hot Hassan Kim right away. You know, maybe he's not finding
- 33:39himself until summer finally getting, you know, 2-3 hundred
- 33:45ABS under his belt before really settling in.
- 33:49But I don't know, I I like it. I was, I think there's plenty of
- 33:54good fits for him around the league, so I was I was anxious
- 33:58to see where he landed. This surprised me a little.
- 34:03Bit the Astros have moved on from Ryan Presley, the Cubs have
- 34:08acquired the closer and the trade Cubs are sending over Juan
- 34:14Baio to the Astros. Thanks for your service.
- 34:23A little bit brought in hater made you take a back seat.
- 34:28Yeah, there that I was reading an article today it talked about
- 34:32how that was that. I mean that factored into it
- 34:40that you know, that move of bringing in hater, which from a
- 34:43business side of things you have to understand like what you're
- 34:46what you're trying to do there. If you're if you're Houston or
- 34:49if you're if you're Ryan Presley, of course, But I can
- 34:55still see how you that that would rub you the wrong way.
- 34:58Like man, I've. I wouldn't be thrilled about it.
- 35:00I've given you what I've given you and like I, I've left it out
- 35:03there for you and you still feel the need to move on.
- 35:07And again, albeit a better arm on paper, but it's still got
- 35:14still got to rub you the wrong way.
- 35:16And so I, I, I could understand waving your no trade clause in
- 35:21order to make something happen to where maybe you can get AI
- 35:24don't want to say a fresh start because he's what is he, he's
- 35:27like 36. So I mean, you're, you're coming
- 35:29up on the tail end of your career anyway, but a fresh start
- 35:34in terms of the remaining years you, you have left here in the
- 35:39game. So, you know, good for Presley
- 35:42going to a what's what I think is going to be a a competitive
- 35:45Cubs team to where you're going to be the guy like you were in
- 35:49Houston there for for some time. And I think this is a good move
- 35:54for the Cubs. I think it's I think it's a win
- 35:56win. I don't, I have no idea who the
- 36:00Astros got back or I'm not familiar at all.
- 36:02But like just looking at their bullpen stacked to their
- 36:09pitching is stacked. They're always so stacked and
- 36:14there could have been some something they notice or you
- 36:17know, something that some reluctancy of fully stepping
- 36:22into that, that setup role. And then I know nowadays like
- 36:27the there's only so many typical closer formulas that are
- 36:34followed, but that's Josh Hader, you know what I mean?
- 36:38Like he's he's got to be able to have those opportunities and
- 36:42splitting those or even having the conversation of like, if he
- 36:46has a couple blown saves, you know, do we give him a break and
- 36:50put Ryan Presley in and have that like controversy?
- 36:52I think it's just it's easier to just avoid that overall.
- 36:55They have a they have an incredible depth in the bullpen.
- 36:58You know, get something for him, let him go, have an opportunity
- 37:02to close games elsewhere. So, yeah, I think it's kind of a
- 37:05win win. But yeah, 36, it's winding down.
- 37:12I know I'd feel we're pretty much like years away from it at
- 37:14this point, but I can't help but remember the the scenario in
- 37:19which the White Sox created for themselves by bringing in
- 37:22Kimbrel and keeping Hendrix around.
- 37:26Or it was yeah, who did they? But who did they bring in after,
- 37:31though? Was was Hendrix was already in
- 37:33house at that point and they brought in Kimbrel.
- 37:35Is that how it went down? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 37:38It's just like a. That's one of those situations
- 37:40where, you know, you can knock traditional styles of strategy
- 37:46in baseball all you want, but there's some that I I firmly
- 37:50believe that you just don't mess with.
- 37:51And if you're going to be a team that wants a a traditional
- 37:56closer, you want a guy to be the guy.
- 37:59Fit the mold. You you fit that, you don't mess
- 38:02with it, you make it you you find your guy and you don't mess
- 38:05with it. And for for the Astros, maybe
- 38:08they tried to make it work by having sort of a 1B guy, but you
- 38:13know, it's. It's which on paper, like it
- 38:14makes sense and there are plenty of organizations that I that
- 38:17succeed in that rotating closer role.
- 38:21And like there, I don't think there's anything wrong with it.
- 38:23I think I think being a dominant long term closer is one of the
- 38:30hardest things to do in baseball.
- 38:32I think it's one of the hardest positions in baseball.
- 38:35So like there's a reason why there's only so many.
- 38:38There's a reason why, no offense, but like a Kenley
- 38:40Jansen continues to get opportunities and a Craig
- 38:44Kimbrel continues to get opportunities because like
- 38:47there's only so many guys that are good at that.
- 38:50There's only so many guys that are going to go down in record
- 38:52books with that amount of saves. So it's like, yeah, the recency
- 38:57you can take him through and be like, oh, we see a ton of blown
- 38:59saves from these guys. It's like, yeah dude, but like
- 39:02nobody can really. Everybody's going to blow this
- 39:04role, like everybody's going to blow these saves.
- 39:07So why not try your luck with a guy like what for the Orioles,
- 39:10for example, bringing Kimberly in a while back?
- 39:13It's like just try your luck with a guy that's done it
- 39:16because again, everybody, you're not going to have a guy to
- 39:20unless you're the guardians. You got Emmanuel Class A who
- 39:23seemingly just ran the table well up until the post season,
- 39:25of course. But it's like if you're going
- 39:28to, if you're going to have, if you're going to adopt A guy for
- 39:32your 9th inning or you're going to bring in a guy for your 9th
- 39:35inning, why not try your luck with somebody that's that's been
- 39:37doing it and, and put it in it. But I digress.
- 39:42Let's let's move into a little bit of it's not draft time just
- 39:48yet. We'll call it the, we'll call it
- 39:50the appetizer to the draft. Who's corpuses?
- 39:54Who's corpuses? Who said it, Whether it is like
- 40:01milk, whether it is like wine, we have to find out.
- 40:21Whose quote was this? Whose quote was this?
- 40:24Dude when I when I created an AIII, don't even remember what
- 40:29time I I think I said like 15 second Max.
- 40:32Here's what I want and it turns out this like a minute and a
- 40:36half long song. That's not even the full clip,
- 40:39by the way. It's not I I went in and trimmed
- 40:41it and like blended it in in all this other nonsense.
- 40:45That's like that natural, like that natural song, like the way
- 40:50you hear it sort of progress and and change.
- 40:52It's that wasn't how it came out.
- 40:54I had to sort of shorten it anyway.
- 40:58I was like, you're not holding me down.
- 40:59You're going to let. You're going to let.
- 41:01This out, I'm going to let these drums breathe.
- 41:04Whose quote was this? Let's talk Braves because like,
- 41:11what's going on with the world? Why does everyone think the
- 41:13Braves are like not going to do their thing?
- 41:16I mean, we've talked about how I think Austin Riley is finally
- 41:19getting his true full on chance. Like third base.
- 41:22Third base is yours bro, Let's just get after this thing.
- 41:26We'll see if the Magic is still with Darnell offensively, but
- 41:30you have two MVP candidates as soon as you wake up in the
- 41:33morning with Freddie Freeman and Acuna.
- 41:35Ozuna is also going to be in that conversation also.
- 41:39This just doesn't add up to me. Albie's I think is an underrated
- 41:42spark plug that doesn't get enough love.
- 41:45Young rotation you added in Charlie Morton.
- 41:47How do they only win one game above 5?
- 41:50Go one game above 500? That was in reference to the the
- 41:53Pakoda rankings. I don't get it.
- 41:56I think this is their division. This I, I, I know we usually say
- 42:03this, this was in 2021. This was our hot takes and
- 42:09Predictions episode Episode 190, making our predictions for the
- 42:17season to follow 2021. Based on hints I feel like I was
- 42:24early to the Alby's train and there's a bro in there so I'm
- 42:28going to go. With me, Yeah.
- 42:34Well done. Well done.
- 42:36Well done. I What happened in 2021?
- 42:39Yeah, they went on to win the World Series, which is what I
- 42:41was just going to say. I, I, you know, like we talked
- 42:44about last episode, kind of was getting the context clues from
- 42:47like the, the, the bits of the episode before that and sort of
- 42:50after. And we were, we were just going
- 42:52in on, you know, the Pakoda ranking or the, the projections,
- 42:56I should say. Yeah.
- 42:57We're just so off the mark and like what, Like what is
- 43:00happening that like that, even if they don't go on to win the
- 43:03World Series, which they ultimately did, it's like you
- 43:05got to you got to have them doing a little bit better than
- 43:08they had them in the towards or at the bottom of the division
- 43:11that year. So I'm glad to see that was one
- 43:14thing that we we we nailed that year.
- 43:16We ultimately nailed. We landed the biggest fish.
- 43:19Like if the team that wins the World Series, we were we were
- 43:21high on them apparently to start the year.
- 43:23So good on us. It's good that we're reviewing
- 43:26them after the season now. Like that's that's a new thing
- 43:29that we're going to be doing. Yeah, for sure.
- 43:31Because yeah, that's I love when hot takes pan out.
- 43:37Makes me feel good. You know what makes me feel
- 43:40good? What you got, pal?
- 43:43Doing the drafts, it is our latest drafts.
- 43:49I hope you guys, I hope you guys enjoy the drafts 'cause even if
- 43:52you didn't, I wouldn't even care because I love doing them and I
- 43:56think Nate. I think we would do this if the
- 43:58record button was not on. That's a fact.
- 44:00We would just sit here and, you know, just dudes talking ball.
- 44:05But the latest drafts idea that we came up with is birthplace
- 44:14slash birth state draft. OK?
- 44:18So we've got it pulled up where players, and this is going to be
- 44:22all time where players were born, what state they're born
- 44:26in. We're going to follow the same
- 44:27structure. We're going to fill out a full
- 44:31lineup, one through 9 traditional lineup, you know,
- 44:36pitcher, catcher, so on and so forth.
- 44:37And we're going to add ADH. So we're going to have, what, 10
- 44:41picks? Right.
- 44:43Was it, this is what I was going to ask you, is that like are we,
- 44:47are we going to go back to the to the two pitcher thing as we
- 44:51used to, We initially did starter and reliever.
- 44:57I mean, we can. What do you want to do?
- 44:58Pitcher Pitcher. Like 2 pitcher spots whether you
- 45:02want a starter or reliever. Which tank?
- 45:07I like keeping it consistent so maybe we just pick one or the
- 45:10other. Because it's in.
- 45:14My opinion, it's hard to grade or it's, it's, it's hard to pick
- 45:18a winner if you, if you, if you're presenting two different
- 45:21products. So like if somebody had enough,
- 45:23if you went with two relievers and I went with two starters and
- 45:26it's like, well, how do you, how do you really judge that, you
- 45:28know? So it's only a starting pitcher,
- 45:35no reliever. If you want.
- 45:37OK, wait, how did we do the last draft?
- 45:39It was the numbers. What did we do?
- 45:40Just a pitcher. Just a pitcher.
- 45:43Yeah. I don't know.
- 45:46It's your call. What?
- 45:47What do you want to do? I'll defer to you.
- 45:50I mean, because if I get freaking Panama, I'm going MO,
- 45:55but if we're only starting, this is I'm.
- 45:57Pretty sure it's the only it's only the 50 U.S. states.
- 46:00Oh, we're only doing we're. Not going to US territories.
- 46:04All right. That would possibly an oversight
- 46:06on my part. But that is a little bit because
- 46:08I was looking at the birthplace on the link you sent me through
- 46:11Bleacher Report. But I've seriously the
- 46:15randomizer. The randomizer.
- 46:17Did I say Bleacher Report? I'm losing it baseball
- 46:20reference. But you're saying the
- 46:22randomizer, we can't necessarily add these other countries in.
- 46:26I get it correct. I get it correct.
- 46:30So MO was out, correct. Too bad.
- 46:33All right. And then what about the top
- 46:35three war thing? Did you like that little?
- 46:40Which I don't know if you noticed by the way, you didn't
- 46:43use all three. Well, it didn't matter.
- 46:47I got to the end of the draft and I'm picking like peanuts,
- 46:49Lowry. Like that's the only eligible.
- 46:52Player. That's what makes it cool.
- 46:54Is that like stupid? You got to decide when you use
- 46:57it. Stupid.
- 46:59All right? I mean, I'm down.
- 47:00If you are, I'm down. I'm down.
- 47:03Shit out, I've got my. I got my brand new whiteboard
- 47:06here. Look at those pizza slices.
- 47:08Look at those pizza slices. My, my, my lineup and Nate's
- 47:12lineup ready to be ready to be completed.
- 47:14Here US what? What did we decide on?
- 47:17One pitcher. One pitcher.
- 47:20Whatever. Starter, reliever.
- 47:22What everyone? Knew that's fair.
- 47:23OK. One show for those new to the
- 47:26draft. It's pitcher, catcher, 4
- 47:28infielders, 3 outfielders and ADH.
- 47:30Oh, we're sticking to that. OK.
- 47:31Yeah. And ADH and are we?
- 47:33Are we? You want to explain if for those
- 47:36who are nude? You want to explain the three
- 47:38war thing again? So we felt filter it by WAR and
- 47:43you only get three top three WAR guys on your roster.
- 47:49Utilize that however you want. Kyle backed himself into a
- 47:52corner last week and didn't get to use the third guy.
- 47:55That's on him. He has a major ever said on my
- 47:58part, OK? Who?
- 48:00I mean, did we like decide a winner last last time did Was it
- 48:06up? I went back and read the.
- 48:07I went back and and read the comments.
- 48:10It was closer this last time around, which I agreed with the
- 48:14first one the IT. Was a landslide.
- 48:17What was the first? What was the first topic we did?
- 48:21Oh, alphabetical, that's what it was.
- 48:24Yeah, that was a landslide. The the jersey numbers doing it
- 48:27based on jersey numbers that guys wore throughout their
- 48:30career. This most recent one that was
- 48:32closer, but the consensus was that you won with it again.
- 48:37So you will take first pick and to maintain consistency we will
- 48:42keep it a snake draft. All right, you Are you ready?
- 48:46Hit that randomizer. First date up West Virginia.
- 48:51Tough one to start with. Yeah, that's tough.
- 48:54West Virginia 133 names. Oh no.
- 49:01Can you filter by? Oh, you can.
- 49:03Yeah, you can. Whoa, whoa.
- 49:10OK, Some names in here? Not really.
- 49:20Yeah, let's not get. Carried away here, it's top
- 49:21heavy. It's real top heavy, Real top
- 49:23heavy. Wow, real top heavy some of
- 49:28these guys. No, I'm there's no way that some
- 49:32of these guys are real. Like, come on.
- 49:34Wow. Oh my gosh.
- 49:39Like, you're not going to pick this guy.
- 49:40So I'm going to go ahead and say it.
- 49:42Walt Craddock? Who is that?
- 49:48Like, no offense to the Craddock family, but what?
- 49:52What are we? Doing well.
- 49:54I mean, I'm just going to burn 1 right away.
- 49:56Give me George Brett at third base.
- 49:58That's fair. Oh no, I'm sorry, 4 infield
- 50:00spots. So just I'm just going to George
- 50:02Brett. Oh true, I didn't even need the
- 50:05well. Pizza slice.
- 50:07Yeah, whatever. Put an asterisk there for you,
- 50:13I'm going to go ahead and see. A problem is is I don't.
- 50:19Come on, there's only one other name on here.
- 50:23What are you talking? About you're not doing any of
- 50:25these other randos. Let's go, Bill Mazeroski.
- 50:37Really. Really ten time All Star All
- 50:44Star Hall of Famer, What are we talking about?
- 50:46And didn't have to burn one of my one of my picks.
- 50:51I feel like. I feel like.
- 50:53What was the other name you were talking about?
- 50:54Oh, I feel like John Crook would have gotten you a little more
- 50:57votes. That's all.
- 50:57I didn't see John Crook on here. Where's?
- 51:01Oh, sure enough. 9th. No, I'm going.
- 51:03What? I'm going with the Hall of
- 51:04Famer. What are we talking about?
- 51:05I wouldn't want to change it. I don't care.
- 51:07All right, That's that's one of my infielders.
- 51:12All right, spin that wheel, sucka.
- 51:14Next state up. You got to be kidding me.
- 51:23North Dakota, bro, these these generators.
- 51:27Hate us 20 people 20. Players 20.
- 51:35Oh man. What?
- 51:41Yeah, I'm going to go ahead and take this sucks because I.
- 51:50Don't want to? I don't want to have to blow one
- 51:53of my picks on this. I know.
- 51:58Did you say 1 pitcher? Yeah.
- 52:02Oh my God, this this sucks. Well, I guess.
- 52:10It's down for a respin but. No, that's that's against the.
- 52:15Rules of the game. It's just cheap, yeah.
- 52:17It's not cheap. Can I question, can I?
- 52:23Oh, no, I can't. Never mind.
- 52:26I'm going to go. I'm going to go.
- 52:33Travis Hafner is my DH. Damn it.
- 52:44Asterisk, technically. Oh, I know, I know.
- 52:48But you're going to have to use one too.
- 52:51Sure I am. Unless you're an idiot.
- 52:57Oh, man, I think, I think we could be in for a doozy.
- 53:06Yeah, I can't get too crazy here.
- 53:08Give me Darren Urstadt in the outfield.
- 53:12Sucks, yeah. It does.
- 53:14No offense to Darren Arsad, big big Darren Arsad guy, Not
- 53:18really. But for the sake of the draft,
- 53:22bigger big Darren Arsad guy. Dude N freaking Dakota, what are
- 53:25we doing? Let me.
- 53:27Guess the next state is going to be Alaska.
- 53:33All right, next state your pick right?
- 53:36Yeah, my pick. Come on randomizer, don't bang
- 53:42us here. Oh, you're getting banged?
- 53:44Come. On banged Vermont bro, what are
- 53:49we doing? These aren't even states.
- 53:51They're states, but barely come on.
- 53:54No offense if you live in those states, but come on.
- 53:59And this is. Unbelievable.
- 54:00And to answer the question, no, this draft, this, this white
- 54:04board was not less than three. I got it at 5 below.
- 54:06Shout out Five Below and it was in fact $5.00, but I could have
- 54:12gotten one for $2.00 at Walmart but I wanted to have it for
- 54:16tonight's draft so I I made an impulse buy and just spent $5 on
- 54:21it. So mission failed unfortunately.
- 54:24Well, scrolling down, making sure there isn't some young buck
- 54:31in here that we didn't know about and there's not, so that's
- 54:36sick. You mean Carlton Fisk, My last
- 54:40war? Guy that's a great, that's a
- 54:42great catcher pick that's. A good That's a good one to.
- 54:45I mean, for a position that you often throw away in drafts, like
- 54:48that's what do we say Vermont? I mean this again, this is a
- 54:54situation where it's like, I don't even know who to go with
- 54:57because none of these names are even recognizable.
- 55:00So this kind of bones me for. That's why I was scrolling down
- 55:05a little bit, just to see Scroll down.
- 55:07There's nobody here. Nothing tough, man.
- 55:17We want to go. We want to roll out Ed Doheny.
- 55:21I think an elder Bowman or maybe Heine Stafford there.
- 55:27Seemed like Hazleton. There seemed like some good
- 55:30picks. I mean, come on.
- 55:31Born in 1876. Was Vermont even rocking?
- 55:36Was there even anything happening in Vermont in 1876?
- 55:43Dude, I there's not a, there is not a recognizable name after
- 55:49Carlton Fisk, what do I do? I don't know, you got to suck it
- 55:52up. Many apologies to anybody in the
- 55:57chat that's from Vermont. No, no apologies to anybody in
- 56:02Vermont. Produce better baseball.
- 56:03Talent. This is ridiculous.
- 56:05Dakota or West Virginia? No, West Virginia.
- 56:08There's shots fired there. No West Virginia produces fine
- 56:11talent. Same with you could make the
- 56:13argument for North Dakota comparatively, but Vermont be
- 56:16better. Vermont.
- 56:17This is a joke. I'm just, I'm a throw it out
- 56:20there, 'cause Nate's already picked #2 #2 you want to know
- 56:24who number 2IN war is on on Baseball Reference, according to
- 56:28Baseball Reference from Vermont in war #2 Larry Gardner.
- 56:34Larry Gardner was 58165. Does that name sound familiar?
- 56:38No, it probably doesn't. You know why?
- 56:39Because he played from 19 O 8 to 1924.
- 56:43So I don't know what to, I don't know what to do.
- 56:46Ernie Johnson could be interpreted as the backyard
- 56:49baseball character. Maybe I'd go with him.
- 56:55All right, well, I'm going to pick.
- 56:57Harry Houlihan. Where's Harry?
- 57:01Yeah. Walt Land Franconi.
- 57:04Yeah, I saw Walt Land, Frank Land.
- 57:06Land Franconi. What do we think?
- 57:08Harry Houl. Oh, yeah.
- 57:10No, I'm going. Harry Houlihan.
- 57:13Harry Houlihan played from 1922 to 1922.
- 57:18So. Played seven games.
- 57:19Played seven games. What even is he?
- 57:21I don't know actually. I I need to finalize my.
- 57:24No, I can't do that. Either he's a pitcher, yeah, I
- 57:26can't do. That What's Walt Lane?
- 57:29Oh, also a pitcher. I mean, come on.
- 57:32You roll out Chris Duffy who is tough man.
- 57:41Who is Heine Stafford? OK, so Heine Stafford is listed
- 57:44as a pinch hitter. What does that mean?
- 57:45What do I do with that? Genuinely asking, what do I what
- 57:49do I do with that birdie tebbits?
- 57:52How are we just scrolling past that name?
- 57:55Where's birdie? What is Birdie Tebbits?
- 57:57He's a catcher, born in 1912. Burlington for sure.
- 58:03Good, good, fine. Hey, thanks.
- 58:05Tip of the cap. Thanks for helping me out there.
- 58:07Birdie Tebbits is my catcher. Birdie tebbits Excellent.
- 58:14How about that? And this is Vermont, never to be
- 58:18spoken of again. Seriously.
- 58:22All right, my first pick. There's something good, dude,
- 58:26something deep, next states is. Pennsylvania.
- 58:43Much better, much better 1500 names compared.
- 58:48To 30 years, baby. Oh, bait.
- 58:49Well, that's not good for me because that means you get a lot
- 58:52to pull from Oh wait, I already know who I'm.
- 58:54I already know who I'm going with.
- 58:55What am I talking about actually?
- 58:57Crap, dude. Oh boy.
- 59:00Freaking all right, I got to anything out I got to.
- 59:06I'm going to play this smart here.
- 59:08I'm going to play this smart. I'm you know what I'm going to
- 59:15go wow, I did not realize there was I mean that two of these I
- 59:21knew for sure because I've I've posted about it before very wild
- 59:25story if you if you know what I'm talking about, but wow, that
- 59:31is a lot Pennsylvania's deep, deep.
- 59:35All right, you know, I want to play this I'm going to play this
- 59:37strategically here. OK, that's fair.
- 59:40I'm going to go I've. Used.
- 59:41I've used all three of mine so. No, you haven't.
- 59:44I have I had to Darren Urstadt. Oh, he was top three, you're
- 59:50right. Burned.
- 59:52Me, Oh, then I'm sitting pretty. Then I'm going to no, I'm going
- 1:00:03to save it. I'm I'm going to save it because
- 1:00:05there's, there's some depth here.
- 1:00:06And this isn't even a. This isn't even a.
- 1:00:08Lot, a lot of depth. It's not an L here, I'm going
- 1:00:10Kangaroo P Junior in my outfield.
- 1:00:13You had to. You had to.
- 1:00:15And for those wondering, he's not a top three guy as as far.
- 1:00:18As crazy as that dude, he's not even top four.
- 1:00:21Yeah, shout out Eddie Plank. That's funny.
- 1:00:34I think I'm going to. I think I'm going to roll out.
- 1:00:44I think, I think give me Mike Piazza in my DH spot.
- 1:00:50All right. Do you like that?
- 1:00:53Yeah, I mean, I wouldn't have done that.
- 1:00:56I well, actually no, you. Yeah, Yeah, you kind of have to
- 1:00:59because. I would have gone Griffey for
- 1:01:02for the record if you didn't. Yeah.
- 1:01:06So but big names up there. Honus Wagner Stand musical, left
- 1:01:11alone, not taken. Reggie Jackson in this group as
- 1:01:15well. All right, next states Hawaii.
- 1:01:25Oh, that's not going to be as good as you think it is 49 guys.
- 1:01:31What was Vermont 20? 3838 Oh I think I already know
- 1:01:36one name I can go with. He's a top three.
- 1:01:40That sucks. I was going to go Shane
- 1:01:43Victorino. I can't.
- 1:01:50That sucks bro. Ron Darling entered the chat.
- 1:02:02Josh in the chat said if Griffey is not top three, the stats
- 1:02:05broken junior is number one all time and not the.
- 1:02:10We hit the war calculator, we hit the war police, you know.
- 1:02:14I'm just going with what Baseball Reference is showing me
- 1:02:17and he wasn't even. What did I say?
- 1:02:18He's not even top 4. Kirby Yates is from Hawaii.
- 1:02:24Oh yeah. Big Hawaii guy.
- 1:02:26Did not know that. Well, no, no worth.
- 1:02:31Not really worth spending too much time here.
- 1:02:34Give me Colton Wong in the infield.
- 1:02:39I'm even though we're doing like 4 infielders and three
- 1:02:43outfielders, I'm still putting guys where they play just for
- 1:02:46whatever overachiever Peace of Mind let.
- 1:02:48Me do hear it. That's so funny that you blew.
- 1:02:52You had to blow. I had to.
- 1:02:54Like you didn't have a choice. Like I was not blowing the first
- 1:02:57one, I had to then blow the next two.
- 1:03:00Darren Urstadt was the only other name outside of Travis
- 1:03:05Hafner, and Carlton Fisk was the only name from Vermont.
- 1:03:11I'm pulling actually that I'm not even pulling.
- 1:03:14I'm like I'm this is this is awfully close here.
- 1:03:18I'm going to go you went Colton Wong.
- 1:03:22I'm going to go see. This is where the it's these
- 1:03:28pics is where. It's where winters are made.
- 1:03:33Jordan Yamamoto. Why does that sound familiar?
- 1:03:36Not the ocean. Nobu.
- 1:03:38I'm not, but I I feel like I've heard that name before.
- 1:03:41Kennicoa Toshera. Kian Wong.
- 1:03:46That's Colton's brother, right? He Who did he play for?
- 1:03:52Tyler Yates. We got Kurt Suzuki, but I
- 1:03:58already have a catcher, Ron, Darlene.
- 1:04:02It's a tough name to nothing against Ron Darling.
- 1:04:06That's a tough name to bring pitcher spot, you know.
- 1:04:08No, no, I know. But I'm just talking about names
- 1:04:10that I I would consider. Yeah, I'm going to have to go.
- 1:04:14I hate that I'm doing this, but I'm going to go.
- 1:04:17Shane Victorino. Yeah, got you.
- 1:04:24Hawaii. This is my 5th pick.
- 1:04:27That is your second top three guy.
- 1:04:31Oh, true. Yeah, Asterisk.
- 1:04:33All right, so I need a first, two infielders, 2 out fillers
- 1:04:37and a pitcher. We got no repeats on this
- 1:04:40randomizer, correct? It if we do, I'll just I'll oh,
- 1:04:45oh, actually, no, that is a valid point.
- 1:04:47I was thinking about that earlier today.
- 1:04:48I'm like. Do we go great if like
- 1:04:51California came up twice, but. But I'm saying like before we
- 1:04:54encounter that, do we want to agree to a re spin or do we want
- 1:04:57to stick with the repeats because you technically there's
- 1:04:59no reason you couldn't. I don't know what we'll do if we
- 1:05:05give Vermont again. We just pray that we don't land
- 1:05:09on Vermont. I think it's funnier if we if we
- 1:05:11keep it. So we keep it.
- 1:05:13Keep keep keep repeats, no re spins.
- 1:05:17Fair enough. All right, Whose pick is it?
- 1:05:20Is it me? It's you.
- 1:05:22Because you went Colton, I went Shane Victorino, Maine, who is
- 1:05:28from Maine. 78 names, that's a little better.
- 1:05:31That's that. That means nothing.
- 1:05:33What if they're just a bunch of Joe Blows?
- 1:05:38It's only Joe Blows. It's only Joe Blows.
- 1:05:41What is this even me? Who are these people?
- 1:05:45Oh, chummy Gray Chadbourne, These Lewis Socka Lexus.
- 1:05:52That's not a real guy. That's not a real guy.
- 1:05:56Bro this is like when you're scouting and like MLB The Show
- 1:06:00just fake names rolling through Pop Williams.
- 1:06:08Is this him? Hold on, hold on.
- 1:06:15This might be him. This is his.
- 1:06:20This is him. This is my guy.
- 1:06:23This is who I'm going with. Please tell me he, oh, he's a
- 1:06:26pitcher. I'm going with the greatest name
- 1:06:33to have ever existed in Major League Baseball.
- 1:06:38My pitcher. I'm going with Cannonball
- 1:06:43Titcomb. That's nice.
- 1:06:49That's nice. Cannonball Titcomb.
- 1:06:54How far down is he? He's literally at the like the
- 1:06:57bottom of the list. Oh, it's Liddell.
- 1:07:01Liddell. But I saw Titcombe and I knew
- 1:07:03that that was him. I had to look it up to confirm.
- 1:07:06Cannonball. Titcombe is my pitcher.
- 1:07:08Talk about winning votes on a name I've.
- 1:07:12I feel like you got to put Liddell.
- 1:07:13First off, I think it's cheating if you throw nicknames in.
- 1:07:16No this. If you've been following this
- 1:07:18podcast for any length of time, you've seen my post on multiple
- 1:07:21occasions because I love sharing it from from time to time.
- 1:07:24Cannonball Titcombe is the best name in baseball history.
- 1:07:28Argue with the wall. Do I roll out Jack Robinson?
- 1:07:31Just hoping someone flies through that when they're
- 1:07:33reading it like. Pudge in the chat said -3.4 war
- 1:07:38for cannonball, tick comb solid. I'm not worried about that in
- 1:07:42this, in this, in this draft. Clyde Suckaforth.
- 1:07:48Man, I legitimately don't recognize a single name.
- 1:07:53I am so glad I, I mean, if, if we're going to be stuck with Joe
- 1:07:58blows, no offense to Cuke Barrows.
- 1:08:04I'm glad I got cannibal Titcomb like that.
- 1:08:06That is the best pick of the, of any of the drafts we've done
- 1:08:11thus far. That that is my favorite pick
- 1:08:13that I've I've had pinned up against the wall that is Maine
- 1:08:18and not having any names to choose from.
- 1:08:21I mean, that's a. Steal to keep it, to keep it
- 1:08:24fair. Because I feel like, you know
- 1:08:26what, if you're going to burn a pitcher spot, I'm going to burn
- 1:08:29a pitcher spot. I'm going to go chummy Gray.
- 1:08:34All right. I mean, that's a, that's a great
- 1:08:37name, but I really feel like you would have been better suited to
- 1:08:40go with what was the guy's name. Now it's not loading.
- 1:08:50Pam Allen. So who are you going with?
- 1:08:58I'm going chummy Gray, oh semi murch.
- 1:09:02Nope, you already went chummy Gray.
- 1:09:03That's nice. Semi Murch, born in 18862220.
- 1:09:11Freaking giant back in the day. Yeah, wasn't the average height
- 1:09:16of a man like 5/2? Got to plug in this Ethernet.
- 1:09:24Cuke cuke barrows. Sure.
- 1:09:26My Internet works. This is crazy.
- 1:09:31Cuke Barrows. Yeah, what a name.
- 1:09:33Yeah, there we go. All right.
- 1:09:35Oh, the Coombs brothers, I cannot.
- 1:09:39Believe that's I'm what a steal. What an absolute steal.
- 1:09:46I hope if you're making your, if you're voting once, I put the
- 1:09:50graphic up and I asked. For for, we don't need.
- 1:09:54We don't need to cook this up that much, guy.
- 1:09:57I can cook it up as much as I want.
- 1:09:59You better remember this pick, all right?
- 1:10:03Who's got first? You've got first pick, correct?
- 1:10:07Random state is Kentucky. Give me something good in
- 1:10:14Kentucky. Kentucky.
- 1:10:19Kentucky's got some names. Kentucky's got some names, don't
- 1:10:22they? Am I crazy?
- 1:10:31Chicken Wolf. That's not a I'm convinced half
- 1:10:38the guys that are listed having played Major League Baseball
- 1:10:40didn't actually play Major League Baseball.
- 1:10:42This is crazy. Don't talk noise on my boy
- 1:10:44chicken. Chicken Wolf.
- 1:10:51Oh, oh, you already blew your your spot.
- 1:10:54You could have went Walker Bueller here.
- 1:10:57And I could have, but I got, unfortunately, I got Chummy
- 1:11:00Gray. Wait, what state are you on?
- 1:11:05I'm on Kentucky. Dude, so you just have no war?
- 1:11:11Where is he at? I don't even see him.
- 1:11:13We still playing, he's still accumulating and he hasn't had a
- 1:11:18bang up career. 46th WAR of 12.24 Lexington, KY Shout out.
- 1:11:28Phil Roof. These are some ridiculous names.
- 1:11:33Ay yo-yo dude, give me. That's back when they gave you
- 1:11:39names based on your profession. Big time.
- 1:11:43Phil Roof, Yeah. That's a red eret.
- 1:11:49Chicken wolf is just it's standing out to me.
- 1:11:56I don't know, man. None of this is none of this is
- 1:12:01great. This is good for me.
- 1:12:03This is great for me. I think I'm going to go.
- 1:12:08Where'd he go? I just need to confirm position.
- 1:12:11There he is. Yeah.
- 1:12:20Yeah, I'm going to do it. Nah, give me Dan Ugla.
- 1:12:33There we go. Good pick.
- 1:12:34Good pick considering. Yeah, infield is looking a
- 1:12:46little thin. And I'm going to go Pee Wee
- 1:12:49Reese. And that's that finishes off my
- 1:12:52top three ward names. So my top three ward names as it
- 1:12:57stands right now, Pee Wee Reese, Shane Victorino and Travis
- 1:12:59Hafner for Kentucky, Hawaii and North Dakota, respectively.
- 1:13:03Your top three are Brett George Brett, Carlton Fisk and Darren
- 1:13:09Urstadt for West Virginia, Vermont and North Dakota,
- 1:13:11respectively. Next state up.
- 1:13:15By the way, Jay Buhner was in the conversation in my head.
- 1:13:19Another good pick again considering.
- 1:13:21Yeah next state Wisconsin. Have we picked every non
- 1:13:28baseball? We have like a warm freaking
- 1:13:30state. Outside of Pennsylvania, which
- 1:13:32rolls deep, we have not had a baseball state yet.
- 1:13:37Oh no, guy. Oh no.
- 1:13:42What city? What did I say?
- 1:13:43What state? Wisconsin.
- 1:13:46Wisconsin. There's 256 names.
- 1:13:48Let me guess, Joe Blows. Bro what are we?
- 1:13:53Kid Nichols, Who is that? Pink, holly, pink.
- 1:13:59Holly, who is that? It's.
- 1:14:02High up on this list. I'm like, I'm just going to have
- 1:14:05to find oh, this sucks. Yeah, it does.
- 1:14:13I'm going to go, man, you learn a lot doing these drafts.
- 1:14:16Like some of these guys. I'm like, I had no idea you
- 1:14:19played. You were from there.
- 1:14:24Chat labs. Nice.
- 1:14:30All right, I'm going to go. I won't get too far down the
- 1:14:33list here. I'm going to.
- 1:14:46Go Jeez, man, what's going on in Wisconsin?
- 1:14:52Not baseball, I can tell you that much.
- 1:14:54That's for sure. I'm going to go, we said.
- 1:14:58One pitcher. Yeah.
- 1:15:01I'm going to go. Man, this draft is, I mean.
- 1:15:14This is a wild ride. I mean, it's pretty I.
- 1:15:17Never want to do this one again. No, this is great.
- 1:15:20I love this. This is great.
- 1:15:28Who? Nobody was born in Wisconsin
- 1:15:31that ever played baseball. Otto Schomburg was all right.
- 1:15:39I'm going to put. What I'm going to play this
- 1:15:42smart here and I'm going to, I'm going to use some flexibility
- 1:15:50here and I'm going to go no, can I do that?
- 1:16:04What do you got? OK.
- 1:16:05I'm choosing between two names here, and I think I'm going to
- 1:16:10go with, yeah, I think, OK, yeah, I'm going to do this.
- 1:16:14I'm going to go, I'm going to go Gavin Lux in my outfield.
- 1:16:24Whoa. He's listed as a left fielder in
- 1:16:26Baseball Reference. Relax Wisconsin.
- 1:16:33This is my 8th pick. Give me Dalton var show.
- 1:16:39Yeah, that was the other name I was going with, where you put
- 1:16:41them infield or outfield, Not infield.
- 1:16:44You already got your catcher. You already got my catcher.
- 1:16:51I I actually think I'm going to win this draft, I'm not going to
- 1:16:53lie. I think you will too, unless
- 1:16:58Mookie comes in late I. Swear if you get if if we land
- 1:17:02on Tennessee I that will be. Mookie has saved the day.
- 1:17:09That'll be one of the better that'll be one of the better
- 1:17:11bits of this podcast. If you get Mookie bets if if we
- 1:17:15land on Tennessee for the, what, 10th and final pick.
- 1:17:19All right, You got first pick, right?
- 1:17:22Yeah. This this coming one?
- 1:17:24Yeah. Utah, dude, this.
- 1:17:29I'm never using this generator again.
- 1:17:31Never using this generator again.
- 1:17:33You doing to me? Utah 48 names.
- 1:17:38Just just give me Texas. Just once, just Texas.
- 1:17:42Come on, I don't know a single name on here.
- 1:17:48This blows. Drew Thorpe is way higher on
- 1:17:55this list than he needs to be. For those curious, Bruce Hurst,
- 1:18:02number one on the list according to WAR.
- 1:18:06This is awful. This might be the worst state.
- 1:18:12I don't know, do Vermont. I've actually, Yeah, this.
- 1:18:16Yikes. This who?
- 1:18:18Couldn't even tell you who any of these people are.
- 1:18:22I don't these I don't. These aren't.
- 1:18:25These aren't real people. I don't know what to do.
- 1:18:29These aren't real people. I need an out.
- 1:18:31I need an outfielder and an infielder.
- 1:18:36You got to be kidding me. No, you need you put Gavin Lux
- 1:18:39in your outfield. You need an.
- 1:18:40You need 2 infielders. No, I need.
- 1:18:44Yeah, no. You have Griffey, Victorino and
- 1:18:47Lux in your outer. Victorino is is on my infield.
- 1:18:51Why? What am I saying That was, I'm
- 1:18:55sorry. That was a brain, brain fart for
- 1:18:59sure. Victoria is in my infield.
- 1:19:02Why? Yeah, that's stupid.
- 1:19:05Crap, I'm sorry man. I'm trying.
- 1:19:09I'm trying to find. Yeah, that was dumb.
- 1:19:13Wow dude, what would have happened if my outfield was
- 1:19:16full? Like before I realized that I
- 1:19:18had written down Victorino by accent.
- 1:19:22There's not even fun names on here.
- 1:19:25No, there's not even fun names. The most white Wonder Bread
- 1:19:29names you could Dave Gray, Kelly Downs, Billy Mitchell, Billy
- 1:19:37Cook, Bro Porter Hodge. What are we doing?
- 1:19:42Oh, Porter Hodge is a 2024 guy? Who?
- 1:19:44Who the heck does Porter Hodge play for?
- 1:19:46The Cubs? How about that?
- 1:19:48Herman. Herman Franks, come on, catcher,
- 1:19:51catcher and pinch hitter. So that that's not going to
- 1:19:54work. I think we need to make a rule
- 1:19:57moving forward any player that's listed.
- 1:20:00I mean, hitter, you just do whatever you.
- 1:20:01Want you can do whatever you want with them.
- 1:20:03Yeah, a bad idea. Ultimately, that's what would
- 1:20:06happen should he get slotted into the.
- 1:20:08I'm just trying to find someone that isn't a pitcher.
- 1:20:15Fred Sanford, everybody is a is a freaking OK this this.
- 1:20:26I owe you Tall. This win, this is, this is going
- 1:20:29to be what jams you up. Yeah, because the rest didn't.
- 1:20:33Because. You needed a bounce back pick
- 1:20:34here because I feel like as it stands right now, I've got the,
- 1:20:38I've got the draft. If.
- 1:20:43People know ball. Like if people know ball, but if
- 1:20:45they don't know ball, they go, oh, I recognize more names on
- 1:20:48Nate's, Nate's lineup. Oh, that's that's a you problem.
- 1:20:55Oh my gosh, everyone freaking pitches.
- 1:20:58Yep. Outfielder and 1st baseman, See.
- 1:20:59They know in the chat, they know what you need.
- 1:21:03I think I had him, but I would kept looking.
- 1:21:06Where'd he go? Oh, there he is, Chris Shelton.
- 1:21:12There's a shut on field. You are.
- 1:21:18This is over. This is over.
- 1:21:21It's over. I'm never doing this draft
- 1:21:24again. I love this draft and not
- 1:21:26because I think I'm going to win, but because of how insane
- 1:21:28it is. Like the I'm seeing names, I'll
- 1:21:32say again, I'm convinced have never seen a baseball field,
- 1:21:36much less like forget that exists.
- 1:21:38I don't think these people are real.
- 1:21:39I don't think they are either. This is Utah, this is your 9th
- 1:21:45pick, no? What am I missing here?
- 1:21:51What was before Utah? Was that Wisconsin?
- 1:21:56I thought we had one. Kentucky was 7.
- 1:22:00Kentucky. This is 9th, your 10th pick will
- 1:22:03be your 10th and final pick will be an outfielder.
- 1:22:06I'm going to go. I should have been looking at
- 1:22:08who I'm going to. Go with should have gone Gordon,
- 1:22:18Slade, Newt, Kimball, George Theodore So many pictures on.
- 1:22:26This Brandon Duckworth. I know I wanted that one too.
- 1:22:29Herman Franks, OH. Did you say Duckworth is a
- 1:22:33pitcher? Yep.
- 1:22:35Wow, he's a 2001 to 2008. Guy that's.
- 1:22:39I think I would have remembered that.
- 1:22:43Joe Barlow, Gordon Slade, Kelly Downs.
- 1:22:50Why does that sound familiar? Pitcher.
- 1:22:52Pitcher, Come on, Dave Downs. Is that a brother?
- 1:22:57Father. Is it a father?
- 1:23:00No. His brother, brother of Kelly
- 1:23:01Downs, also pitcher Billy Cook. Yeah, I'm, I'm seeing in the
- 1:23:10chat. Billy Cook.
- 1:23:12Throw him in the outfield. Oh, you can't.
- 1:23:15Is he an infielder? He has an infielder.
- 1:23:20So what does that mean? I have left 01 infielder.
- 1:23:25Get Me Out of here. Kye Bush.
- 1:23:32Just go, Billy Cook. Why?
- 1:23:34At this point I'm looking at the second round of the 2021 draft.
- 1:23:40Billy Cook was tenth round of the 2021 draft.
- 1:23:46We're really doing this. Relax.
- 1:23:51I wish. I wish you could sort it by.
- 1:23:59By draft stock here. OK, I've spent way too much time
- 1:24:06like this, so I'm going to go. I'm going to go.
- 1:24:14Wait a minute. Bobby Mitchell.
- 1:24:19Why does that sound familiar? Bobby Mitchell, why does that?
- 1:24:27I'm looking at him right now. Why does that sound familiar?
- 1:24:37Doesn't matter. He's just in her fielder.
- 1:24:38All right. What did I say?
- 1:24:39Billy Cook. All right.
- 1:24:43William Monroe Cook. Send it.
- 1:24:49So give me a decent state here. This is insane.
- 1:24:55What state did we just do? Utah.
- 1:24:58Utah. That was my 10th pick.
- 1:25:01All right, here we go. You roll out Idaho, I'm breaking
- 1:25:03this thing. Don't do it.
- 1:25:11Random state and I I saw in the chat I think somebody asked what
- 1:25:16what generator I'm using. This is gigacalculator.com.
- 1:25:20Trash. Never again.
- 1:25:21Never again. Here we go, random state.
- 1:25:25Who's got first pick? I do, you do.
- 1:25:28I do. Give me Tennessee.
- 1:25:30Give me Tennessee, Illinois. What a joke of a.
- 1:25:37Generator. I mean that's better, but like
- 1:25:39it's sure but worst generator. Illinois over 1000 guys.
- 1:25:44Wow, a lot of Hall of Farmers. Really.
- 1:25:48Yeah. Let me see here.
- 1:25:50War 111. Ricky Henderson.
- 1:25:54No kidding. Robin, you out, Jim?
- 1:25:56Tell me. Robin Roberts, Lou Boudreaux,
- 1:26:01Kirby Puckett, Freddie Lynn I. Know rolling deep.
- 1:26:07Jesse Barfield, I got that baseball card.
- 1:26:11Yeah, but what about Fritz Ostermueller?
- 1:26:15Forget him. I'm.
- 1:26:16Going Oh baby, what a slam dunk of a final pick just outside the
- 1:26:23top three. I'm putting Jim, Tommy and look
- 1:26:28at that, wouldn't you know it? I've look at that.
- 1:26:30I've got my I've got my first base spot waveform.
- 1:26:35I knew. I just I I knew.
- 1:26:37Did you write with your non dominant hand?
- 1:26:39What? Are you talking about?
- 1:26:41That's brutal. What's brutal?
- 1:26:44My writing. So read that.
- 1:26:45Yeah. What?
- 1:26:47It's awful. Whatever.
- 1:26:49You're just. You're just upset you lost the
- 1:26:50draft. I'm pissed.
- 1:26:52I hate this. I would do any other draft
- 1:26:55before I did this one again. Never again.
- 1:27:02Well. This is great.
- 1:27:06I love this. I love this.
- 1:27:10Just I'm scrolling down to make sure there's not like any like
- 1:27:12young freaking phenom that's on here just doesn't have a ton of
- 1:27:18war. Just take the owl.
- 1:27:20Shut. Up, take the owl.
- 1:27:23Yeah, but Chuck dressing could save me.
- 1:27:30Emil Gross. Dude, what an insane draft.
- 1:27:35How was Charlie Comiskey in the Hall of Fame with A7 War as a
- 1:27:44as? Is that what the?
- 1:27:45Is that what the field was named after?
- 1:27:48Comiskey. Comiskey Park.
- 1:27:50It's named after him. Yeah, probably.
- 1:27:52Safe bet. Buzz Capra.
- 1:27:54Egyptian Healy. These are not real people.
- 1:28:00They're not real people. All right, let's go back up
- 1:28:05here. Who was your Who was your 10th
- 1:28:08pick? I don't know Chris Shelton.
- 1:28:14I have him at 912. 3-4 trash. 56789.
- 1:28:22Give me Kirby Puckett in the outfield.
- 1:28:28Oh wait, we only had 10 picks, that's why.
- 1:28:32From Illinois. Awful, awful draft.
- 1:28:40Absolutely terrible. To recap and thanks shout out to
- 1:28:44everyone who's who's stuck around to recap in in order just
- 1:28:50to show you that we're not crazy.
- 1:28:51This has been an insane selection of states random state
- 1:28:55generator. Again, this was the draft by
- 1:28:58birth state random generator in order gave us West Virginia,
- 1:29:03North Dakota, Vermont, Pennsylvania, Hawaii, Maine,
- 1:29:08Kentucky, Wisconsin, Utah, Illinois outside of
- 1:29:12Pennsylvania, not a baseball state on there, but you know
- 1:29:15what? We made it work recapping
- 1:29:18Nate's, Nate's team here. Chummy Gray on the bump, Carlton
- 1:29:23Fisk behind the disk. There's a real, real, real
- 1:29:28freaking Wheeler and dealer out there on the bump.
- 1:29:30Chummy Gray on the bump. Carlton Fisk behind the dish.
- 1:29:33George Brett on the infield, Chris Shelton on the infield,
- 1:29:36Colton Wong on the infield, Dan Ogla on the infield.
- 1:29:39In the outfield, you got Kirby Puckett, Dalton VAR Show, Darren
- 1:29:42Urstadt and his DHS, Mike Piazza for yours truly.
- 1:29:46On the bump, you've got the greatest name in all of baseball
- 1:29:49history. Cannonball Titcomb on the bump,
- 1:29:51number behind a dish you've got. I don't even remember what his
- 1:29:55first name was. B Tebbits.
- 1:29:57Birdie, tebbits, cannonball and birdie.
- 1:30:00Just the battery that you didn't know you needed.
- 1:30:05Didn't know I needed that That battery.
- 1:30:07Now it's the only thing I want. Cannonball Titcomb on a bump.
- 1:30:10Birdie tebbits behind a dish around the around the horn, Pee
- 1:30:15Wee Reese, Billy Cook, Bill Mazeroski and Jim Tomy.
- 1:30:19In the outfield, Gavin Lux, Shane Victorino, Ken Griffey
- 1:30:22Junior and my DH is Travis Hafner.
- 1:30:25Your 3 war top three war picks were Brett, George Brett, Darren
- 1:30:30Urstadt and Carlton Fisk and mine were Travis Hafner, Pee Wee
- 1:30:34Reese and Shane Victorino. Nah.
- 1:30:38I got burned. I'm.
- 1:30:39Just going to go ahead and circle my name.
- 1:30:42I mean, let's see, like maybe the chat feels there's a little
- 1:30:46different. There's no seeing anything.
- 1:30:48It's game over. I don't see anything about your
- 1:30:57name in here. Josh said my baseball field
- 1:31:00looks like a piece of piece. I know Josh, I got to draw
- 1:31:03better fields next time you. Need to you need to figure out
- 1:31:07that penmanship, my man. The pens are I'm I might see if
- 1:31:11I can return this the pens like running out.
- 1:31:13I bought this tonight, the pens basically running out.
- 1:31:15So I you know what? Maybe it's my lucky board
- 1:31:20though, because this will be my first dub of the drafts we've
- 1:31:22done thus far. So I'm going to, I don't know
- 1:31:24where I mean, it's we got to throw it out there.
- 1:31:26I'm not seeing either way. I'm going to throw it out there,
- 1:31:29but but I mean. I.
- 1:31:34Feel like Chummy Grey could have really sent me over but but.
- 1:31:40Cannonball tit, Coleman, Birdie, Tebbits.
- 1:31:43Shut up. That battery alone, I get the
- 1:31:46rest of the field could be blank.
- 1:31:47And that battery alone would win me the win me the draft.
- 1:31:50All right, That's that's plenty deep.
- 1:31:52A little bit of. Give you a little bit of extra
- 1:31:55content there to get you through the end of the week.
- 1:31:57So enjoy it. Shout out to you guys, shout out
- 1:32:01to those who stick around in the chat.
- 1:32:03Shout out if you've been listening, shout out if you're
- 1:32:05watching. We love all of you guys.
- 1:32:07Have a great rest of your week. If anything big happens, we
- 1:32:11might try to get to an emergency pod, but otherwise we will catch
- 1:32:14you guys early next week. That's all I got.
- 1:32:18In the meantime, don't you dare go chasing curveballs we love.
- 1:32:23You all and as always, looking forward to talking more baseball
- 1:32:25with you guys soon. Until next time, stay filthy.
