Transcript
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: Alright, episode 117, toy soldier Hexeth hands the military over to idiots.
- 0:09SPEAKER_01: Yay, cancels, excited, we also, nothing could possibly go wrong.
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: All right,
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: this is The Opinionated Ogre Podcast,
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: your weekly rampage through current events with little snark,
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: a bit of foul language, and a lot of strong opinion.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: There are new episodes every Thursday and they're not safe for work
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: or polite company of any kind whatsoever.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: I am your podcast host, The Opinionated Ogre, and this is my co-host, Florida Woman.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: Hello, Florida Woman, how are you today?
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: Good morning.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: I'm good.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: Excellent.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: So, Florida woman,
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: were you at all surprised,
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: even a little bit,
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: that Trump called on Iran to nuke two American cities and the press yawned
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: and went back to sleep?
- 0:52SPEAKER_01: No, not at all.
- 0:53SPEAKER_01: Like not even a tiny bit surprised?
- 0:55SPEAKER_01: Not even a little bit surprised.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: Not the fact that this is the same press that cried big sobbing tears
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: when Hillary Clinton called some Republican voters deplorables.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: And that was a line that was just too far.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: But nuking L.A. and San Diego?
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: What's to be upset about?
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: Just Trump being Trump at all?
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: Nothing?
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: Not even a little surprised?
- 1:15SPEAKER_01: Not even a little bit.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: Well, that's true because it's like what we always say.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: Republicans are not held to a lowest standard.
- 1:21SPEAKER_01: They're held to no standard at all.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: This is the recording for Thursday, October 8th, 2026.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: And we have a lot to get to on episode 117 of the Og Pod.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: Are we ready to do this?
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: Woo.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: Then let's get to it.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: It's time for the Yoga Nation news update.
- 1:39Roar.
- 1:41SPEAKER_01: Roar.
- 1:43SPEAKER_01: Pete Hegseth has spent the entirety of his time as Defense Secretary,
- 1:48SPEAKER_01: or in his case, Secretary of War,
- 1:54SPEAKER_01: completely shitting on the military.
- 1:57SPEAKER_01: He once again...
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: He demonstrated how much he hates the people who serve this country last week
- 2:02SPEAKER_01: at his State of the Force speech when he announced that he'd cut 20% of
- 2:06SPEAKER_01: the top generals who he'd decided were too woke,
- 2:10SPEAKER_01: you know, because they were like following the law.
- 2:13SPEAKER_01: Super weird.
- 2:14SPEAKER_01: During his bizarre speech,
- 2:17SPEAKER_01: he also announced that the world's richest man,
- 2:20SPEAKER_01: Elon Musk,
- 2:21SPEAKER_01: and Ann Durrell Industries billionaire founder,
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: Palmer Luckey,
- 2:25SPEAKER_01: which he is getting very lucky,
- 2:27SPEAKER_01: and former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich,
- 2:30SPEAKER_01: would form a commission and, quote, map the trajectory of future warfare.
- 2:37SPEAKER_01: Hmm.
- 2:38SPEAKER_01: Both Musk and Lucky.
- 2:40SPEAKER_01: Is that how you say his name?
- 2:41SPEAKER_01: Lucky?
- 2:41SPEAKER_01: I guess so.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: I mean, it does look like it.
- 2:45SPEAKER_01: Both Musk and Lucky already enjoy the fruits of massive billion-dollar military contracts.
- 2:52SPEAKER_01: Allowing the two of them to map a strategy
- 2:55SPEAKER_01: that will directly financially benefit their companies is exactly the type
- 3:00SPEAKER_01: of corruption that we've come to expect from the Trump regime.
- 3:03SPEAKER_01: It's also the first time Musk has been allowed back in the government
- 3:07SPEAKER_01: since he pillaged it and stole Americans' personal data with the failed DOGE scheme.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: But remember, Hunter Biden's laptop, biggest story.
- 3:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I hear he did crack or something.
- 3:20SPEAKER_01: He never talks about it.
- 3:24SPEAKER_01: Wes J. Bryant,
- 3:25SPEAKER_01: a retired Air Force Master Sergeant who was forced out of his leadership position by
- 3:29SPEAKER_01: the regime,
- 3:30SPEAKER_01: told Politico the move is, quote,
- 3:33SPEAKER_01: entirely indicative of the decay and oligarchy that has taken over our government
- 3:38SPEAKER_01: and,
- 3:39SPEAKER_01: in many cases,
- 3:40SPEAKER_01: directly through purchasing influence and power and authority,
- 3:43SPEAKER_01: blatantly right in front of us.
- 3:45SPEAKER_01: They're not even trying to hide it anymore.
- 3:47SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 3:48SPEAKER_01: Others have pointed out that Hegseth appears to be shoring up his political relationships.
- 3:53SPEAKER_01: There's been talk that the low-T defense sec wants to run for president in 2028.
- 3:58SPEAKER_01: God, I hope he does.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: Please, please, please let him, please.
- 4:03SPEAKER_01: Getting Musk and other billionaire defense contractors
- 4:06SPEAKER_01: on his side would potentially give him the cash and influence he'd need
- 4:10SPEAKER_01: to start his campaign off strong.
- 4:12SPEAKER_01: But of course,
- 4:13SPEAKER_01: we've learned that starting your campaign off strong doesn't necessarily mean
- 4:16SPEAKER_01: that you're going to be ending as the party's nominee.
- 4:19SPEAKER_01: So we'll see what happens there.
- 4:21SPEAKER_01: And of course, there is a little problem of his terrible, terrible handling of the war in Iran.
- 4:28SPEAKER_01: And, you know, possibly that small matter of being impeached when Democrats win.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: Well, then he'll get to have his victim card.
- 4:36SPEAKER_01: That is true.
- 4:37SPEAKER_01: He'll be the martyr that they want.
- 4:39SPEAKER_01: Either way,
- 4:39SPEAKER_01: giving Elon Musk more power after he fucked up
- 4:42SPEAKER_01: so royally last year is exactly what we don't fucking need,
- 4:45SPEAKER_01: but I guess we're going to get anyways.
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, can't wait.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: Now, the other thing about this is, you know, you've got Newt Gingrich.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: Newt Gingrich is 83 years old.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: He understands modern warfare about as well as I understand designing nuclear fucking bombs.
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: Elon Musk understands modern warfare with all the sophistication of a middle schooler.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: Last week...
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: He posted on Twitter,
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: which I will continue to deadname until the oceans boil and the Earth orbits
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: a dead star,
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: that stealth bombers weren't useful because they weren't actually invisible.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: That an advanced enemy could detect them with advanced robots.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: That maybe, but how many countries actually have that level of radar everywhere, right?
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: They just don't.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: And B-2 bombers are really, really hard to spot and independently.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: The 30 years,
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: 30 plus years that they've been in existence,
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: no one else has developed their own version.
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: China's working on it.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: They still don't have them.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: And this tells you something.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: What about they're really fucking expensive, but they're also very, very successful.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: I don't believe one has been shot down yet.
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: And we've used them a bunch of times.
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: And this tells you that Elon Musk is a fucking moron and putting him in charge
- 6:03SPEAKER_00: the military will simply mean That we're not doing something useful for
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: the military.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: We're opening direct channel from the Pentagon to his bank account
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: and getting fuck all in return.
- 6:13SPEAKER_00: But actually, that's not really true.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: We'll be getting a military that's poorly equipped, poorly trained, and poorly led in return.
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: But Elon Musk will certainly find new and inventive ways to funnel $1.5 trillion of
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: the Pentagon's budget right into his bank account.
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: And as for Palmer Luckey, I don't know shit about him.
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: I don't know anything about him.
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: All I know is that he looks like he still lives in his mother's basement and yells
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: at women online all day.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: I'm sure he'll be a strategic,
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: brilliant strategic mind,
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: able to guide America's armed forces into what could possibly go wrong.
- 6:49SPEAKER_01: You know,
- 6:49SPEAKER_01: the comment that he made about
- 6:50SPEAKER_01: the stealth bombers not really being invisible just reminds me of Trump
- 6:56SPEAKER_01: when he first took office the first time and he was like,
- 6:59SPEAKER_01: yeah, we're creating this new invisible plane.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: It's like, okay, Wonder Woman.
- 7:05SPEAKER_01: I'm like, no, that's not what that means.
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: These people are just so, I swear to God.
- 7:12SPEAKER_00: All right, let us move on.
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: Saturday morning.
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: I got up.
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: I drove down to Stacey to take her to the SAT for the first time.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: She was, I don't know if I'd say excited about it, but she thinks she did well.
- 7:23SPEAKER_00: We'll find out soon enough.
- 7:25SPEAKER_01: Is that the free one?
- 7:25SPEAKER_01: Did she take the free one?
- 7:27SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 7:29SPEAKER_00: Then I drove into D.C. to pick up Lila from the bus station.
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: She was up for the weekend.
- 7:34SPEAKER_00: And then I drove with Claudia out to Maryland to listen to nine hours
- 7:39SPEAKER_00: of very angry anti-fascist music.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: Yes, I was very lucky.
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: I got tickets to go to the Power to the People Festival.
- 7:48SPEAKER_00: And it was fucking awesome.
- 7:50SPEAKER_00: And if I understand it correctly,
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: about 19,000 people were at the Meriwether Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland.
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: The whole event was set up by Tom Morello.
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: That's the lead singer and guitarist of Rage Against the Machine.
- 8:05SPEAKER_00: It's weird.
- 8:07SPEAKER_00: The way the press was talking about it would have you believe
- 8:09SPEAKER_00: that this was all set up by Bruce Springsteen, and it wasn't.
- 8:14SPEAKER_00: This was Tom Morello's baby.
- 8:16SPEAKER_00: Bruce Springsteen was like the biggest name there, but this was Tom Morello's baby.
- 8:20SPEAKER_00: The lineup was a couple of bands from the early to mid-2000s,
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: like The Last International,
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: who I was not familiar with,
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: and State Radio, again, not familiar with, and much newer acts like Grandson, who...
- 8:42SPEAKER_00: It was very enjoyable.
- 8:43SPEAKER_00: He bought out a guy dressed as, he had like a Trump mask and he was wearing a diaper.
- 8:49SPEAKER_00: Very, very fucking funny.
- 8:51SPEAKER_00: Apparently, when they came out, YouTube was live streaming.
- 8:54SPEAKER_00: When that came out, they cut it.
- 8:56SPEAKER_00: They cut the footage.
- 8:58SPEAKER_00: I don't know if that's true or not.
- 9:01SPEAKER_00: I just saw someone post about it on Blue Sky, but still.
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: They also had the Linda Lindes, which they're a lot of fun.
- 9:08SPEAKER_00: I'd heard of the Linda Lindes.
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: This is my first time seeing them, but they're a lot of fun.
- 9:12SPEAKER_00: They're between the ages of 16 and 22, but they were definitely enjoying themselves up on stage.
- 9:17SPEAKER_00: They also had a bunch of 80s and 90s acts.
- 9:20SPEAKER_00: They had DMC from Run DMC, Cypress Hill, Public Enemy, Dropkick Murphys, Foo Fighters.
- 9:26SPEAKER_00: Tom Morello, of course, was out there.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: Not Rage Against Machine.
- 9:31SPEAKER_00: It was just him and other people playing.
- 9:33SPEAKER_00: And, of course, Bruce Springsteen.
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: Dave Matthews had an appearance.
- 9:38SPEAKER_00: He had a very short set, and he was a little off.
- 9:42SPEAKER_00: We weren't sure if he was just really stoned out of his head,
- 9:45SPEAKER_00: but Claudius convinced there's something really, really wrong with him.
- 9:48SPEAKER_00: He's in the early stages of MS and hasn't gone public yet
- 9:52SPEAKER_00: because he's holding his hands really weird.
- 9:54SPEAKER_00: And I don't know.
- 9:55SPEAKER_00: We're going to see what's going on with that probably in the next year or two.
- 10:00SPEAKER_00: But I hope that's not true because, I don't know, I like that.
- 10:03SPEAKER_00: Dave Matthews.
- 10:04SPEAKER_00: It was a really fun show.
- 10:06SPEAKER_00: It was a very intense day.
- 10:08SPEAKER_00: Michael Fanone,
- 10:09SPEAKER_00: that's the Capitol Hill cop who was beaten up on January 6th,
- 10:12SPEAKER_00: along with a lot of other people.
- 10:14SPEAKER_00: And that's the guy who has since become a thorn in the side of GOP.
- 10:18SPEAKER_00: And he's constantly reminding them that they're all traitors and liars.
- 10:21SPEAKER_00: He got up on stage with Dropkick Murphys, which was a lot of fun.
- 10:25SPEAKER_00: I found out the next day, on Sunday, that Jack Smith was there, which I had no idea.
- 10:30SPEAKER_00: He was 20, 30 feet behind where I was sitting.
- 10:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he was wearing a No King shirt.
- 10:34SPEAKER_01: And well, you know, it's funny about Jack Smith.
- 10:36SPEAKER_01: It's like when you see him like out in public,
- 10:38SPEAKER_01: like a picture of him out in public,
- 10:39SPEAKER_01: you're like, I would never guess that that guy has
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: fucking prosecuted war criminals.
- 10:48SPEAKER_01: He looks like your uncle who's like always has a hangover, you know?
- 10:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but he was just wandering around.
- 10:57SPEAKER_00: Now, the entire event was billed as nonpartisan, and technically it was.
- 11:03SPEAKER_00: No one was out there saying, vote for Democrats.
- 11:06SPEAKER_00: They did say, vote a lot, and fuck fascism a lot, and fuck racism a lot, and fuck ICE a lot.
- 11:15SPEAKER_00: A lot.
- 11:20SPEAKER_00: You can interpret that as partisan,
- 11:21SPEAKER_00: but then you'd have to admit that Republicans are a bunch of racist fascists
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: who oppose voting.
- 11:27SPEAKER_00: Now, we shouldn't do that because, hmm, teehee.
- 11:30SPEAKER_00: Anyway, it was an amazing day.
- 11:33SPEAKER_00: And it reminded me,
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: once again,
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: we've talked about this a couple of times,
- 11:36SPEAKER_00: that the right simply cannot do this sort of thing.
- 11:39SPEAKER_00: They cannot put together a massive all-day festival with almost 20,000 people
- 11:44SPEAKER_00: with some of the greatest music acts over the last 40 years to come out and sing
- 11:48SPEAKER_00: about what makes this country amazing because...
- 11:51SPEAKER_00: They don't understand what makes this country amazing.
- 11:54SPEAKER_00: They scream, make America great again, but they don't actually understand what that means.
- 11:58SPEAKER_00: What they mean is make America white and Christian and hateful.
- 12:03SPEAKER_00: And they don't have this kind of cultural power and they never fucking will.
- 12:08SPEAKER_00: And it's like I've been saying for a while now, fascism cannot create art.
- 12:13SPEAKER_00: It can only consume it, but it cannot consume.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: It destroys.
- 12:17SPEAKER_00: You're so smart.
- 12:19SPEAKER_00: This is why the right despises TV and music and movies and books and video games.
- 12:24SPEAKER_00: They're all expressions of who we are and who we want to be.
- 12:29SPEAKER_00: And that is not Republican.
- 12:31SPEAKER_00: It's not a world dominated by mediocre racist white Christian men.
- 12:36SPEAKER_00: And they cannot fucking tolerate that.
- 12:38SPEAKER_00: So they want to burn it all down and replace it with bland, flavorless, unsweetened oatmeal.
- 12:44SPEAKER_01: Unseasoned.
- 12:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah, exactly.
- 12:46SPEAKER_00: It's unseasoned.
- 12:47SPEAKER_00: They want unseasoned oatmeal.
- 12:49SPEAKER_00: So, you know, fuck these assholes and power to the people.
- 12:52SPEAKER_01: Power to the people.
- 12:54SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 12:55SPEAKER_00: So we're moving on to our next segment,
- 12:58SPEAKER_00: which is new for the next couple of weeks until the midterms are here.
- 13:03SPEAKER_00: It is time for the Midterm Massacre.
- 13:06SPEAKER_00: Oh!
- 13:18SPEAKER_01: The press might be ignoring the main Senate race, but it seems the voters are not.
- 13:23SPEAKER_01: A new AARP poll found 50% of respondents said that they were probably
- 13:28SPEAKER_01: or definitely leaning toward casting their ballots for Democrat Troy Jackson.
- 13:34SPEAKER_01: 47% said that they support Collins and 3% are undecided.
- 13:39SPEAKER_01: The poll had a 3% margin of error.
- 13:42SPEAKER_01: So the race is neck and neck, but it looks like Jackson is leading it.
- 13:47SPEAKER_01: He is a former state Senate president.
- 13:50SPEAKER_01: And was able to win the nomination after Graham Plattner dropped out.
- 13:54SPEAKER_01: Thank fucking God.
- 13:55SPEAKER_01: Cook Political Report has the race as a toss up.
- 13:59SPEAKER_01: The Democratic candidate is also leading the gubernatorial race accordingly.
- 14:04SPEAKER_01: According to AARP,
- 14:05SPEAKER_01: the news about the poll came out the same week that ProPublica published
- 14:10SPEAKER_01: a bombshell report about corruption allegations against Susan Collins.
- 14:14SPEAKER_01: According to the report,
- 14:15SPEAKER_01: the FBI was investigating Collins' relationship with Martin Cow,
- 14:21SPEAKER_01: CEO of defense contractor Navatec and one of her top donors.
- 14:26SPEAKER_01: Cow claimed the head of a pro-Collins super PAC met with him and
- 14:30SPEAKER_01: And other Navatec execs in 2019 and asked for a $500,000 donation,
- 14:36SPEAKER_00: which is illegal.
- 14:38SPEAKER_00: I can't believe a Republican is corrupt.
- 14:42SPEAKER_00: So weird.
- 14:43SPEAKER_00: In this day and age, I can't believe there's just corrupt Republicans.
- 14:48SPEAKER_00: I mean, what kind of world are we living in?
- 14:50SPEAKER_01: And somebody who looks like our grandma?
- 14:53SPEAKER_01: No.
- 14:53SPEAKER_01: No.
- 14:56SPEAKER_01: So Kao sent a $150,000 donation to the super PAC using a shell company to cover his identity.
- 15:03SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 15:04SPEAKER_00: Nothing says I'm innocent using a shell company.
- 15:07SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 15:07SPEAKER_01: A few weeks later,
- 15:08SPEAKER_01: the CEO told execs that Collins had committed to giving Navatech $32 million
- 15:14SPEAKER_01: in naval contracts.
- 15:15SPEAKER_00: I love how he sent one third of what was asked for and he still got the fucking thing.
- 15:19SPEAKER_00: Right, right, right.
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: I was like, wow, she just sells herself.
- 15:22SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 15:24SPEAKER_01: In 2022, Cal was indicted for making illegal campaign contributions because, you know.
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: Contributions?
- 15:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah, look who he was donating to.
- 15:37SPEAKER_00: So anyway.
- 15:38SPEAKER_01: And I guess the shell company didn't fool the FBI.
- 15:41SPEAKER_01: Weird.
- 15:42SPEAKER_01: Government contractors are prohibited from making political donations
- 15:46SPEAKER_01: because obviously we don't want government contractors donating
- 15:50SPEAKER_01: to political candidates and then getting government contracts.
- 15:55SPEAKER_00: Seems like a pay-to-play scheme.
- 15:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it seems like a bit of a conflict of interest though.
- 16:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah, a little bit.
- 16:01SPEAKER_00: A little bit.
- 16:03SPEAKER_01: We like our corruption to be disguised by lobbyists from K Street.
- 16:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah, put a little bit of a layer in between the corruption.
- 16:12SPEAKER_01: Right, right.
- 16:12SPEAKER_01: The first time I went to DC,
- 16:14SPEAKER_01: the first time I went to DC,
- 16:15SPEAKER_01: I took my mom and Jennifer down K Street and I said, behold, this is the real power.
- 16:23SPEAKER_01: The CEO then revealed the scheme to the FBI because he wanted a lighter sentence.
- 16:29SPEAKER_01: So he sold her out to save himself,
- 16:32SPEAKER_01: which is exactly what we would expect.
- 16:34SPEAKER_01: The Trump regime, shockingly, killed the investigation when he took office again.
- 16:39SPEAKER_00: Amazing.
- 16:40SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 16:41SPEAKER_01: Collins is now vehemently denying the allegations.
- 16:44SPEAKER_01: She just did nothing wrong.
- 16:46SPEAKER_01: This is just she can't understand.
- 16:48SPEAKER_01: Like, look at her.
- 16:49SPEAKER_01: I'm just an innocent grandma.
- 16:51SPEAKER_01: I would never do something like this.
- 16:53SPEAKER_01: ProPublica.
- 16:55SPEAKER_00: Sorry, go ahead.
- 16:56SPEAKER_01: ProPublica,
- 16:56SPEAKER_01: however,
- 16:57SPEAKER_01: standing by its reporting,
- 16:58SPEAKER_01: saying that it reviewed the FBI against our evidence against the Congresswoman.
- 17:02SPEAKER_01: So.
- 17:03SPEAKER_00: Corruption is becoming a real sticking point in this election.
- 17:08SPEAKER_00: People are really getting sick of just a non-stop corruption.
- 17:13SPEAKER_00: So this has the potential to really hurt if the story catches on.
- 17:19SPEAKER_00: So fingers crossed.
- 17:21SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 17:22SPEAKER_00: When Senator Lindsey Graham died, I drank a beer to celebrate because what a glorious day.
- 17:27SPEAKER_00: And then Republicans installed his sister, Darlene.
- 17:32SPEAKER_00: In his seat to serve out the rest of his term.
- 17:34SPEAKER_01: What a moron.
- 17:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 17:35SPEAKER_00: Some people made us think about that.
- 17:37SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 17:37SPEAKER_00: But there is a long tradition in American politics and probably in other countries.
- 17:40SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 17:41SPEAKER_00: I don't pay attention to that.
- 17:42SPEAKER_00: But of the spouse or sibling of
- 17:45SPEAKER_00: a long serving elected official finishing their term out of respect.
- 17:48SPEAKER_00: So that's not really super unusual.
- 17:51SPEAKER_00: What was unusual was that Darlene deciding totally all on her own.
- 17:57SPEAKER_00: Totally.
- 17:58SPEAKER_00: To run for the seat when her brother's term expired.
- 18:01SPEAKER_00: She's never worked in politics before and is completely unqualified for the position.
- 18:07SPEAKER_00: Like, really, really embarrassingly unqualified.
- 18:11SPEAKER_00: Her only qualification is her willingness to be a rubber stamp for Donald Trump,
- 18:16SPEAKER_00: who enthusiastically endorsed her,
- 18:18SPEAKER_00: cementing Darlene Graham as the Republican nominee.
- 18:22SPEAKER_01: She's so unqualified that she literally said when asked a question
- 18:26SPEAKER_01: about foreign policy, I don't really know anything about that.
- 18:29SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 18:30SPEAKER_00: I mean, it was just like, oh, man, that's like,
- 18:33SPEAKER_01: oh, that's who I want.
- 18:35SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 18:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah, definitely want that person.
- 18:36SPEAKER_00: She's just going to do whatever she's told to do.
- 18:38SPEAKER_00: It's like that's not representation.
- 18:40SPEAKER_00: So that's she's just a puppet.
- 18:43SPEAKER_00: Now, if Republicans were figuring on name recognition in a reliably red state,
- 18:47SPEAKER_00: If that would give them an easy win,
- 18:49SPEAKER_00: that turned out to be a very costly mistake in an election cycle
- 18:52SPEAKER_00: that is already turning out to be insanely expensive for Republicans.
- 18:57SPEAKER_00: So while the GOP is bleeding money in Texas and Iowa and Kansas, Kansas.
- 19:04SPEAKER_00: Now they have to pour money into South Carolina to protect
- 19:07SPEAKER_00: a seat they shouldn't even need to defend.
- 19:10SPEAKER_00: The Daily Beast reports that the GOP is about to drop $5 million,
- 19:14SPEAKER_00: they don't really have just laying around,
- 19:17SPEAKER_00: into the race to keep Democrat and And Andrews from winning.
- 19:21SPEAKER_00: Andrews trails Graham in the polls by one whole point.
- 19:26SPEAKER_00: And that's $5 million that Republicans could have spent literally anywhere else.
- 19:31SPEAKER_00: Now it's being wasted to save a Nepo baby who shouldn't be there in the first place.
- 19:35SPEAKER_00: And that is another brilliant strategic move by the greatest natural politician
- 19:40SPEAKER_00: in American history, TM, Donald J. Trump.
- 19:44SPEAKER_01: Did you see Trump's statement about Annie Andrews?
- 19:48SPEAKER_00: The one where he uses the T word.
- 19:49SPEAKER_00: He calls her...
- 19:50SPEAKER_01: Multiple times.
- 19:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah, slur for transgender.
- 19:54SPEAKER_01: Yes, that's the one.
- 19:56SPEAKER_01: Because it rhymes.
- 19:57SPEAKER_01: It rhymes with Annie.
- 19:59SPEAKER_01: Get it?
- 20:00SPEAKER_01: I literally read that statement and I just...
- 20:02SPEAKER_01: I just sat there for a second and I was like, is this really what we've become?
- 20:07SPEAKER_01: Like, this is the president of the fucking United States of America using
- 20:12SPEAKER_01: a transgender slur in a social media post attacking a political candidate.
- 20:19SPEAKER_00: Do you know what I'm really going to look forward to?
- 20:22SPEAKER_01: A political candidate, by the way, who is a pediatrician.
- 20:25SPEAKER_00: What I'm really looking forward to,
- 20:27SPEAKER_00: like after the 2024 election,
- 20:29SPEAKER_00: the press made a huge,
- 20:32SPEAKER_00: huge deal about, you know, oh, transgender issues sunk Democrats.
- 20:37SPEAKER_00: It didn't.
- 20:38SPEAKER_00: That's not what happened.
- 20:39SPEAKER_00: But they wanted to make sure everyone knew
- 20:42SPEAKER_00: that definitely transgender is definitely part of the story of how Democrats lost.
- 20:47SPEAKER_00: And definitely, definitely, definitely, definitely, we should do something about that.
- 20:51SPEAKER_00: Now, Republicans are hitting the transgender button really, really hard for this election.
- 20:57SPEAKER_00: They're going to get crushed.
- 21:00SPEAKER_00: It's going to be a fucking bloodbath.
- 21:02SPEAKER_00: I mean, not for nothing.
- 21:04SPEAKER_00: There's a reason we're calling it the midterm fucking massacre here.
- 21:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 21:14SPEAKER_00: All Republicans everywhere.
- 21:16SPEAKER_00: And I'm super curious about if the press is going to be like,
- 21:20SPEAKER_00: hmm, they hit the transgender button really hard and it didn't work.
- 21:24SPEAKER_00: Maybe that shouldn't be the issue for them anymore.
- 21:27SPEAKER_00: Maybe they should.
- 21:28SPEAKER_00: They're not going to.
- 21:29SPEAKER_00: They're just not going to.
- 21:30SPEAKER_00: They're going to be like, well, it still remains a potent weapon.
- 21:32SPEAKER_00: It's like, does it?
- 21:34SPEAKER_00: Did it?
- 21:35SPEAKER_00: It's not.
- 21:35SPEAKER_00: It didn't work at all.
- 21:37SPEAKER_00: They still got absolutely fucking slaughtered.
- 21:42SPEAKER_00: Correlation is not causation.
- 21:44SPEAKER_00: Just because he was screaming it in 2024 does not mean it worked.
- 21:48SPEAKER_00: The fact that they were screaming it in 2026 and it didn't work should be
- 21:52SPEAKER_00: an indication that perhaps they should move on from it.
- 21:55SPEAKER_00: And the press will not make that case because the press,
- 21:58SPEAKER_00: especially the New York Times, really,
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: really wants to keep that story going because they're very,
- 22:03SPEAKER_00: very hostile to trans people.
- 22:06SPEAKER_01: But, you know, that Nazi next door, no problem with that.
- 22:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no.
- 22:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 22:10SPEAKER_00: You know, the Nazi next door.
- 22:11SPEAKER_00: I mean, they're just like you and me.
- 22:14SPEAKER_00: Anyway, up a few miles north in North Carolina,
- 22:18SPEAKER_00: Republicans have abandoned the Senate race,
- 22:22SPEAKER_00: canceling their antibodies so they can redirect that money
- 22:25SPEAKER_00: to races they could possibly win, like maybe in South Carolina.
- 22:30SPEAKER_00: At the same time,
- 22:31SPEAKER_00: Democrats are so confident that Roy Cooper is a lock,
- 22:35SPEAKER_00: they've pulled their ad money too.
- 22:37SPEAKER_00: And they're redirecting it to other races they think they can win, like maybe South Carolina.
- 22:42SPEAKER_00: So yeah,
- 22:44SPEAKER_00: things are going pretty well for us in North Carolina and not so well
- 22:48SPEAKER_00: for Republicans in South Carolina.
- 22:49SPEAKER_01: So go Carolinas.
- 22:52SPEAKER_01: I do love North Carolina.
- 22:53SPEAKER_01: It's my favorite place.
- 22:55SPEAKER_00: My aunt thinks so.
- 22:56SPEAKER_00: My aunt Janie lives there, and she loves North Carolina.
- 22:59SPEAKER_00: It's nice visiting her every now and then.
- 23:00SPEAKER_00: We have to go back down there.
- 23:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but you have to visit.
- 23:04SPEAKER_01: We should just take a family vacation,
- 23:07SPEAKER_01: and all of us should go,
- 23:08SPEAKER_01: and you and I can just stand on the mountain and put our hands at our hips and go.
- 23:11SPEAKER_00: And then we can push the kids down the slide, the rock slide.
- 23:17SPEAKER_01: Sliding rock is amazing, I'm telling you.
- 23:19SPEAKER_01: I would totally do sliding rock with you.
- 23:23SPEAKER_01: And then we could see our pictures that are never attractive.
- 23:25SPEAKER_01: The pictures are never attractive.
- 23:28SPEAKER_01: And I always reach up to plug my nose because I'm afraid of that brain-eating amoeba.
- 23:35SPEAKER_01: Even though it doesn't live in cold water like that.
- 23:38SPEAKER_01: But the force of the waterfall, because it's a waterfall, will turn your body around.
- 23:43SPEAKER_01: And I've hit the water backwards so many times.
- 23:47SPEAKER_01: Anyways, moving on.
- 23:49SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 23:49SPEAKER_00: So before we continue midterm massacre here,
- 23:54SPEAKER_00: if you'd like to throw us a small tip, we would be very, very appreciative.
- 23:59SPEAKER_00: We both have college kids and the QR codes for Venmo and PayPal are up on the screen right now.
- 24:05SPEAKER_00: We have no sponsors or advertisers, and we're definitely not going to have any anytime soon.
- 24:11SPEAKER_00: Florida woman curses too fucking much.
- 24:13SPEAKER_00: And she says way too many objectionable things.
- 24:16SPEAKER_00: So clearly this is never going to happen.
- 24:18SPEAKER_00: Although,
- 24:19SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 24:20SPEAKER_00: if Sliding Rock in North Carolina,
- 24:22SPEAKER_00: if, you know, that town wants to sponsor us, we will definitely take your money.
- 24:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 24:25SPEAKER_01: Pisgah National Forest.
- 24:27SPEAKER_01: Oh, shit.
- 24:27SPEAKER_01: It's a national forest.
- 24:28SPEAKER_00: We're screwed.
- 24:29SPEAKER_00: Damn it.
- 24:30SPEAKER_00: Oh, well.
- 24:30SPEAKER_00: It was a threat.
- 24:32SPEAKER_01: Anyways.
- 24:32SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 24:33SPEAKER_01: Please send us monies.
- 24:34SPEAKER_01: Our college kids are expensive.
- 24:36SPEAKER_01: Mine just spent $176 of my money on groceries.
- 24:39SPEAKER_00: We're going down to Richmond in a couple of weeks and taking Lila
- 24:44SPEAKER_00: and June grocery shopping and taking them out for lunch.
- 24:47SPEAKER_00: Painful.
- 24:50SPEAKER_01: With just four weeks left and voting already underway, you'd think...
- 24:54SPEAKER_01: Which is just fucking insane.
- 25:22SPEAKER_01: Yes, it could be a ploy to get Republicans to divide their attention
- 25:26SPEAKER_01: and spend money they don't have.
- 25:28SPEAKER_01: But Democrats do not have an unlimited budget.
- 25:32SPEAKER_01: If they're spending money on these seats, they have to think there's a real chance.
- 25:35SPEAKER_01: Otherwise, it would be money better spent in competitive races.
- 25:39SPEAKER_01: But remember what we said about Iowa last week?
- 25:43SPEAKER_01: A plus 15 is in the margin of error for the GOP now and every day.
- 25:52SPEAKER_01: Sorry.
- 25:53SPEAKER_01: The economy is getting worse because of Trump and his party of pedophiles, grifters, and Nazis.
- 25:58SPEAKER_01: So we'll ask the same question that we asked last week.
- 26:02SPEAKER_01: Are there really any house seats safe?
- 26:05SPEAKER_00: I mean, I'm sure plus 40 might be safe.
- 26:07SPEAKER_00: Maybe.
- 26:07SPEAKER_00: Maybe.
- 26:10SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 26:10SPEAKER_00: Originally,
- 26:11SPEAKER_00: the last segment here was going to be talking about JD Vance and Ted Cruz fighting
- 26:16SPEAKER_00: because there's nothing funnier than the two worst people in the country squabbling
- 26:19SPEAKER_00: over who's going to lose the 2028 election the hardest.
- 26:22SPEAKER_00: But the Washington Post put out an article
- 26:25SPEAKER_00: that addressed something I've been wondering about for a while.
- 26:28SPEAKER_00: I'm not a numbers guy,
- 26:29SPEAKER_00: and I don't have the time nor the patience to dig through state-level data
- 26:33SPEAKER_00: to figure out how fucked Republicans are or how many state houses they're at risk
- 26:38SPEAKER_00: of losing control of.
- 26:39SPEAKER_00: Fortunately,
- 26:40SPEAKER_00: people know how to do that,
- 26:41SPEAKER_00: and Washington Post,
- 26:42SPEAKER_00: of limited value they may be, went ahead and put that information together.
- 26:48SPEAKER_00: And the results are, wow, Republicans are even more fucked than I thought.
- 26:52SPEAKER_00: Republicans are looking at the potential loss of a trifecta where they control
- 26:57SPEAKER_00: the state Senate,
- 26:57SPEAKER_00: the state House or Assembly and the governorship in five,
- 27:02SPEAKER_00: one, two, three, four, five different states.
- 27:04SPEAKER_00: They're looking at losing complete control,
- 27:07SPEAKER_00: you know, where they have complete control in Florida, Georgia, Iowa, California.
- 27:10SPEAKER_00: Can I just interrupt really fast?
- 27:13SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 27:34SPEAKER_01: So I know there's a lot of talk about Florida and I do think that we should try to flip it.
- 27:40SPEAKER_01: But I just want to remind people that before this last election
- 27:43SPEAKER_01: where Ron DeSantis won by like a huge margin,
- 27:47SPEAKER_01: every race before that had been decided with 1% of the vote.
- 27:51SPEAKER_01: So even though the media is like, oh my God, this is so weird.
- 27:54SPEAKER_01: Florida is so close.
- 27:55SPEAKER_01: It's actually not that weird.
- 27:57SPEAKER_01: Like before this, it was always by 1%.
- 28:00SPEAKER_01: Like it was a very small margin.
- 28:03SPEAKER_00: True, but Florida's gotten a lot redder.
- 28:05SPEAKER_00: It has.
- 28:05SPEAKER_00: A lot of Republicans moved to Florida,
- 28:08SPEAKER_00: you know, because it became the promised land and then it became very expensive.
- 28:12SPEAKER_01: Very expensive.
- 28:12SPEAKER_01: So I think that people are like, oh shit, it's very expensive to live here.
- 28:17SPEAKER_00: But we're not saying that Democrats are going to take control of the state.
- 28:22SPEAKER_00: They're definitely not.
- 28:23SPEAKER_00: That's not going to happen.
- 28:24SPEAKER_00: But they're going to take control of one chamber.
- 28:28SPEAKER_00: And that means Republicans will – they can, right?
- 28:32SPEAKER_00: They have the shot at taking control of one chamber or two.
- 28:36SPEAKER_00: And that means Republicans will not just be able to pass –
- 28:39SPEAKER_01: Which is good.
- 28:40SPEAKER_00: Whatever law they want.
- 28:41SPEAKER_00: They won't be able to – Because right now – Yeah.
- 28:43SPEAKER_01: Right now in Florida and Texas, there are super majorities and our voices don't matter at all.
- 28:49SPEAKER_00: They can do anything they want and they won't be able to do that anymore,
- 28:53SPEAKER_00: which means they won't be able to strip everyone of their rights.
- 28:57SPEAKER_00: They won't be able to attack trans people as easily anymore.
- 29:00SPEAKER_00: They won't be able to just run rampant over your civil rights.
- 29:03SPEAKER_00: On the flip side, Alaska,
- 29:06SPEAKER_00: Minnesota, Nevada,
- 29:08SPEAKER_00: Pennsylvania, Arizona, Michigan, and Wisconsin are That is also a big fucking deal.
- 29:13SPEAKER_00: On top of that, five of those states are swing states.
- 29:17SPEAKER_00: And you can bet with a democratic trifecta,
- 29:19SPEAKER_00: every single piece of election ranking Republicans have put into place over
- 29:22SPEAKER_00: the years will be eliminated.
- 29:39SPEAKER_00: Wisconsin especially will see a sharp shift to the left after all the gerrymandering
- 29:44SPEAKER_00: and vote suppression is just erased in the first six months.
- 29:48SPEAKER_00: We've been saying for a long time,
- 29:51SPEAKER_00: if you want to see the potential future of America,
- 29:54SPEAKER_00: Without Republicans or free of Republican bullshit, look to Wisconsin.
- 30:00SPEAKER_00: They've been cleaning up the GOP's mess for the last few years and
- 30:03SPEAKER_00: the results have been amazing,
- 30:05SPEAKER_00: which is why Elon Musk spent millions of dollars trying
- 30:08SPEAKER_00: to buy their We'll see you next time.
- 30:39SPEAKER_00: And it's far more likely that Democrats are going to pick up four to six trifectas
- 30:43SPEAKER_00: and Republicans will be lucky if they get even one.
- 30:47SPEAKER_00: I, for one,
- 30:48SPEAKER_00: am looking forward to Republicans gaining control of one state and New York
- 30:52SPEAKER_00: the fucking Times declaring that the blue wave is just a dud,
- 30:55SPEAKER_00: just like they did the last time there was a blue wave.
- 30:59SPEAKER_00: And the press desperately tried to convince us that it didn't exist
- 31:03SPEAKER_00: because Republicans did well in a couple of states and they just ignored All
- 31:08SPEAKER_00: the other stuff that happened all over the rest of the country
- 31:10SPEAKER_00: because Republicans did well in a couple of states.
- 31:13SPEAKER_00: So the rest of the blue wave, this is going to be fucking hilarious.
- 31:17SPEAKER_00: I'm really waiting for the headline saying, no blue wave because Republicans won a trifecta.
- 31:23SPEAKER_00: What about the other six trifectas Democrats won?
- 31:26SPEAKER_00: That doesn't count.
- 31:27SPEAKER_00: It's going to be amazing.
- 31:30SPEAKER_00: Anyway, let us move on.
- 31:32SPEAKER_00: It is time for headlines for short attention spans.
- 31:35SPEAKER_00: Headlines for short attention spans.
- 31:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 31:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 31:53SPEAKER_01: More than a dozen Americans have been deported, most of them children.
- 31:58SPEAKER_01: And here are some other facts from the report.
- 32:01SPEAKER_01: Quote, more than 100 Americans held after agents questioned their citizenship.
- 32:07SPEAKER_01: Nearly all were people of color.
- 32:08SPEAKER_01: Oh.
- 32:10SPEAKER_01: At least
- 32:15SPEAKER_01: 70 American children and teens detained,
- 32:19SPEAKER_01: some of whom were handcuffed,
- 32:21SPEAKER_01: even though the Trump regime said, we never handcuff children.
- 32:25SPEAKER_01: Of the more than 300 Americans ProPublica tracked as detained
- 32:30SPEAKER_01: for allegedly assaulting or obstructing agents,
- 32:34SPEAKER_01: they found fewer than half were actually charged in federal court,
- 32:39SPEAKER_01: and many of those cases were dropped or dismissed.
- 32:41SPEAKER_01: At least 63 Americans were detained for recording.
- 32:46SPEAKER_01: 36 Americans held for at least a day without being able to contact their lawyer or their family.
- 32:52SPEAKER_00: Which is just wildly unconstitutional.
- 32:54SPEAKER_00: But, you know, fascism, what are you going to do?
- 32:57SPEAKER_01: So we have warned since the very beginning of this podcast, I mean,
- 33:01SPEAKER_01: from the first time that I was on this podcast,
- 33:04SPEAKER_01: that this was never, ever about getting the criminals out of this country.
- 33:08SPEAKER_01: It was always about targeting brown people and forcing those communities to live
- 33:12SPEAKER_01: in fear, not just the fear of deportation, Deliberately.
- 33:29SPEAKER_01: This is also not something Trump even cares about.
- 33:32SPEAKER_01: He has targeted immigrants and people of color because he knows that it's popular
- 33:37SPEAKER_01: with Republicans and knew that he could use it to drive or he could use that hatred
- 33:42SPEAKER_01: to drive people to the polls.
- 33:44SPEAKER_01: Remember,
- 33:45SPEAKER_01: Trump ran for president at least once before this,
- 33:48SPEAKER_01: and it was for as an independent and his campaign got nowhere.
- 33:52SPEAKER_01: Then he was a Democrat for a long time, right?
- 33:56SPEAKER_00: That's because he was in New York and New York is just Democrats.
- 33:59SPEAKER_00: He was sucking up to the people there.
- 34:01SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 34:01SPEAKER_00: We all hated him anyway.
- 34:03SPEAKER_00: I was living in New York.
- 34:04SPEAKER_00: Everyone hated him.
- 34:04SPEAKER_00: They still do.
- 34:05SPEAKER_00: They always did.
- 34:07SPEAKER_01: And then he decided that he could use all of the racist hatred against Obama to run
- 34:12SPEAKER_01: as a Republican.
- 34:13SPEAKER_01: And that's when he got his win.
- 34:15SPEAKER_00: His alleged win.
- 34:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 34:19SPEAKER_01: So he knew that he could use that hatred to drive Republicans to the polls,
- 34:23SPEAKER_01: the same way white politicians used the fear of desegregation to drive white parents
- 34:27SPEAKER_01: to the polls in the 50s, 60s, and 70s.
- 34:30SPEAKER_01: The GOP has targeted minorities since the Declaration of So it's always been
- 34:35SPEAKER_01: about targeting immigrants.
- 34:48SPEAKER_01: This is not a Trump policy.
- 34:51SPEAKER_01: It's a Republican policy.
- 34:53SPEAKER_01: The only thing that Trump has succeeded
- 34:55SPEAKER_01: in doing is showing conservatives how far they can take their bloodlust.
- 34:59SPEAKER_01: That's why we always say when this regime falls, we must Nuremberg them all.
- 35:04SPEAKER_00: Yep, because the next time they get in, this is where they'll start from.
- 35:09SPEAKER_00: This is their starting point.
- 35:11SPEAKER_01: This is their baseline now.
- 35:13SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 35:13SPEAKER_00: They're not going to go back.
- 35:15SPEAKER_00: They're not going to ease up.
- 35:16SPEAKER_00: They're not going to step back.
- 35:18SPEAKER_00: This is their starting point.
- 35:19SPEAKER_00: This is their baseline,
- 35:21SPEAKER_00: which means the next time they get in there,
- 35:23SPEAKER_00: they're just going to start with Nazi and escalate from there.
- 35:28SPEAKER_00: And no one wants to see where that goes.
- 35:30SPEAKER_00: They're already starting with concentration camps from day one.
- 35:34SPEAKER_00: Why would you want to risk that?
- 35:35SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 35:36SPEAKER_00: Now, Apparently, we bombed Iran over drugs now.
- 35:42SPEAKER_00: That's the new story that Trump came up with during a rally in Oklahoma.
- 35:46SPEAKER_00: Apparently,
- 35:47SPEAKER_00: not only were there nuclear facilities working on nuclear bombs,
- 35:51SPEAKER_00: but also producing drugs.
- 35:55SPEAKER_01: Sure.
- 35:55SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 35:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's what that was about.
- 35:57SPEAKER_01: That Iranian weed must be real good.
- 35:59SPEAKER_00: I know, man.
- 36:00SPEAKER_00: I want some nuclear-infused weed.
- 36:02SPEAKER_00: That shit must fucking kick hard.
- 36:05SPEAKER_00: Booyah.
- 36:06SPEAKER_00: Anyway.
- 36:07SPEAKER_01: I fell asleep and I didn't wake up.
- 36:09SPEAKER_01: I don't know why.
- 36:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah, right?
- 36:11SPEAKER_00: It's glow-in-the-dark.
- 36:14SPEAKER_00: Who needs a blacklight?
- 36:15SPEAKER_00: You just smoke the weed.
- 36:16SPEAKER_00: Anyway, Trump had to rally in Oklahoma,
- 36:19SPEAKER_00: by the way, because he could only guarantee these audiences in deep red state.
- 36:23SPEAKER_00: And J.D.
- 36:23SPEAKER_00: Vance can't get large audiences anywhere.
- 36:26SPEAKER_00: So anyway, Trump has sent another aircraft carrier and about 10,000 more troops into the Gulf.
- 36:32SPEAKER_00: So it seems pretty clear that he's getting ready to bomb Iran again.
- 36:35SPEAKER_00: Possibly before the midterms in order to make himself look tough.
- 36:39SPEAKER_00: And he's almost certainly going to follow this with a ground invasion after the polls close.
- 36:43SPEAKER_00: Possibly in preparation for clearing a national emergency in a desperate attempt
- 36:50SPEAKER_00: to cancel the results.
- 36:50SPEAKER_00: He's about to lose in historic numbers.
- 36:53SPEAKER_00: Now, that may sound alarmist,
- 36:56SPEAKER_00: sure, but Trump is a fascist and he cannot allow Democrats to control Congress.
- 37:02SPEAKER_00: So we have to consider the craziest fucking thing.
- 37:05SPEAKER_00: And that is an exercise in caution,
- 37:10SPEAKER_00: not in doomerism,
- 37:11SPEAKER_00: because while he's going to try it, trying is not the same as getting away with.
- 37:17SPEAKER_00: Remember, Trump can declare a national He can scream martial law.
- 37:24SPEAKER_00: He can scream Insurrection Act.
- 37:26SPEAKER_00: None of these things allow him to cancel elections.
- 37:30SPEAKER_00: None of them.
- 37:32SPEAKER_00: There's nothing in any law, any piece of the Constitution.
- 37:36SPEAKER_00: There's no legal provisions for him to go and say, none of these elections can happen.
- 37:42SPEAKER_00: None of these elections count now.
- 37:44SPEAKER_00: I'm throwing them all out.
- 37:46SPEAKER_00: Nothing.
- 37:47SPEAKER_00: Nothing at all, even remotely comes within a thousand miles of him being able to do that.
- 37:53SPEAKER_00: And even this Supreme Court is not going to say, well, actually he has the right to do that.
- 37:58SPEAKER_00: No, he doesn't.
- 38:00SPEAKER_00: And everybody knows it.
- 38:02SPEAKER_00: Magellan will go, yeah, he could do that because he's the God King Emperor.
- 38:07SPEAKER_00: Everyone else is going to go, the fuck he can.
- 38:10SPEAKER_00: And there's not enough of the fucking military to show up
- 38:13SPEAKER_00: and shut down elections all over the country.
- 38:15SPEAKER_00: He just cannot do it.
- 38:17SPEAKER_00: And he can't order governors to shut down elections and throw out the results.
- 38:21SPEAKER_00: He just doesn't have the manpower to seize all the fucking ballots.
- 38:25SPEAKER_00: He just can't.
- 38:27SPEAKER_00: So it's one thing to be ready.
- 38:30SPEAKER_00: And it's another thing to be prepared.
- 38:32SPEAKER_00: And there's another thing to be like,
- 38:33SPEAKER_00: well, he's just going to do it and we can't do anything to stop him.
- 38:35SPEAKER_01: He can't.
- 38:38SPEAKER_00: But he's going to try to do it.
- 38:41SPEAKER_00: And don't surrender in advance.
- 38:44SPEAKER_00: Do not obey in advance.
- 38:46SPEAKER_00: When he says it, your first reaction has to be, fuck you.
- 38:51SPEAKER_00: No.
- 38:51SPEAKER_00: Not, oh, well, he did it and we can't stop him now.
- 38:55SPEAKER_00: No.
- 38:55SPEAKER_00: He actually has to do it.
- 38:57SPEAKER_00: Just saying it doesn't make it true.
- 39:00SPEAKER_00: And remember,
- 39:01SPEAKER_00: Democrats and attorney generals and governors all over
- 39:05SPEAKER_00: the country are very much getting ready for him to try this.
- 39:08SPEAKER_00: And there are red states that are like,
- 39:10SPEAKER_00: Already very,
- 39:11SPEAKER_00: very not thrilled with the idea of Trump seizing their fucking elections,
- 39:16SPEAKER_00: especially state secretaries.
- 39:19SPEAKER_00: Their whole job is to make their elections secure, and they don't like the idea.
- 39:26SPEAKER_00: Trump's really been pissing them off by saying, oh, yeah, your elections are all fraud.
- 39:30SPEAKER_00: That's their job.
- 39:31SPEAKER_00: And they don't like being told that they're not doing their jobs well.
- 39:36SPEAKER_00: They get a little fucking offended by that.
- 39:38SPEAKER_00: Even Republican secretaries of state.
- 39:40SPEAKER_00: I mean, we saw that in Georgia.
- 39:41SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 39:42SPEAKER_00: In 2020.
- 39:42SPEAKER_00: You know, not that Brad Raffensperger is a good person.
- 40:09SPEAKER_01: Terrible person.
- 40:11SPEAKER_00: There's a limit to how much illegal bullshit they're going to put up with,
- 40:16SPEAKER_00: especially in this context.
- 40:18SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 40:20SPEAKER_01: Speaking of caution,
- 40:21SPEAKER_01: New York Governor Kathy Hochul declared the first state of emergency for measles in
- 40:27SPEAKER_01: the U.S. this week.
- 40:29SPEAKER_01: The state had 108 cases as of Tuesday and the vast majority were in rural parts of
- 40:35SPEAKER_01: the state where vaccination rates are low.
- 40:37SPEAKER_01: The state of emergency will allow an expanded group of medical professionals,
- 40:41SPEAKER_01: including midwives,
- 40:43SPEAKER_01: paramedics and others, to administer the MMR vaccine to kids two years old and over.
- 40:50SPEAKER_01: Healthcare professionals are also required to report vaccinations to the state within 72 hours.
- 40:56SPEAKER_01: Hochul's emergency comes as Pennsylvania cases surpass 1,000,
- 41:01SPEAKER_01: and at least five people have died there, like New York.
- 41:05SPEAKER_01: The majority of those cases have been reported in rural areas.
- 41:09SPEAKER_01: And just as an aside,
- 41:10SPEAKER_01: the Amish community is very large in both of these states and Ohio,
- 41:14SPEAKER_01: where the outbreak is also pretty bad.
- 41:16SPEAKER_01: And we know that the outbreaks this year have been particularly severe among
- 41:21SPEAKER_01: the Amish because they congregate in small spaces.
- 41:26SPEAKER_01: They're always together.
- 41:28SPEAKER_01: Their communities are pretty insulated from the outside world.
- 41:32SPEAKER_01: I live in Florida in a community in Florida that's known as
- 41:36SPEAKER_01: the Snowbird Amish community because the Amish and Mennonites travel here
- 41:41SPEAKER_01: to vacation in the winter.
- 41:43SPEAKER_01: Everybody comes here in the winter.
- 41:45SPEAKER_01: And as that season gets underway,
- 41:48SPEAKER_01: I'm not going to lie,
- 41:48SPEAKER_01: I'm very concerned that we're going to see an uptick of cases here as well,
- 41:53SPEAKER_01: especially because Florida has become very anti-vaccine over the last several years.
- 42:00SPEAKER_01: And the thought of dealing with the measles and dengue fever at the same time,
- 42:06SPEAKER_01: really- The
- 42:07SPEAKER_00: sooner you move out of that hellhole, the better.
- 42:09SPEAKER_01: It's annoying.
- 42:10SPEAKER_01: So I don't want to be like Republicans were during COVID,
- 42:13SPEAKER_01: where they were like, you can't go to Chinese restaurants.
- 42:17SPEAKER_01: They're just not safe.
- 42:19SPEAKER_01: And I hate to say but,
- 42:20SPEAKER_01: because it's like,
- 42:21SPEAKER_01: I'm racist, but I'm not racist, but I feel a little bit like that right now.
- 42:27SPEAKER_00: Well, you can't go to Amish restaurants, so- Yes.
- 42:31SPEAKER_01: I mean, I'm just saying that if I had a baby,
- 42:33SPEAKER_01: I would not be visiting the Amish stores,
- 42:37SPEAKER_01: even though they sell the best apple butter ever.
- 42:41SPEAKER_01: But that's just me.
- 42:42SPEAKER_01: You know, do what you will with your life.
- 42:44SPEAKER_01: But I'm just not bringing my infant in there or my grandmother.
- 42:48SPEAKER_00: Now, as if one disease spreading wasn't enough, Russia has a plague on its hand, literally.
- 42:56SPEAKER_00: Remember all those rumors that the right invented about Ukrainian bioweapons labs?
- 43:00SPEAKER_00: Well, it looks like Russia was doing a little research of their own and there was
- 43:04SPEAKER_01: an... Oh, no.
- 43:05SPEAKER_01: Oh, no.
- 43:06SPEAKER_00: A form of the pneumonic plague,
- 43:08SPEAKER_00: a close relative of the bubonic plague,
- 43:10SPEAKER_00: aka the Black Death that wiped out one-third of Europe in the 14th century,
- 43:15SPEAKER_00: that got loose.
- 43:16SPEAKER_00: And this version spreads through the air in its most virulent and lethal kind of plague.
- 43:22SPEAKER_00: Remember, I'm saying plague.
- 43:23SPEAKER_00: This is the plague, not a plague.
- 43:26SPEAKER_01: So if you live in Alaska, don't go in your backyards.
- 43:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 43:30SPEAKER_00: Sarah Palin is telling you she can see Russia from her backyard and now the plague too.
- 43:37SPEAKER_00: Now, the good news here is that this disease has a really,
- 43:40SPEAKER_00: really fast incubation period and a really short incubation period and
- 43:44SPEAKER_00: a really fast progression.
- 43:46SPEAKER_00: It's literally hours to just a few days.
- 43:49SPEAKER_00: And it doesn't sit quietly like for a few weeks like COVID did and spread.
- 43:54SPEAKER_00: Which means it's almost impossible for it to turn into a pandemic.
- 43:59SPEAKER_00: It kills too quickly to spread.
- 44:01SPEAKER_00: So, yay.
- 44:03SPEAKER_00: The bad news is that the plague is still incredibly dangerous if it gets loose in
- 44:07SPEAKER_00: a major population center.
- 44:09SPEAKER_00: And our government is currently twiddling its thumbs.
- 44:12SPEAKER_00: If we had a real CDC, I would be less worried.
- 44:16SPEAKER_00: But RFK Jr.
- 44:18SPEAKER_00: is a eugenicist who clearly wants a new pandemic in order to thin the herd of
- 44:24SPEAKER_00: the unfit.
- 44:25SPEAKER_00: This outbreak is not going to do what he wants, but the next one might.
- 44:29SPEAKER_00: And our current government will do everything possible to help that along.
- 44:33SPEAKER_00: So don't necessarily panic about the spread of the plague.
- 44:37SPEAKER_00: But do be worried about the death cult in charge of American health care.
- 44:42SPEAKER_01: I'm feeling really good about Secretary Whaleblood right now.
- 44:46SPEAKER_01: Well, let's wrap up headlines with some good news.
- 44:49SPEAKER_01: If we can believe him,
- 44:51SPEAKER_01: and that is a bit of a stretch to be honest,
- 44:53SPEAKER_01: Samuel Alito,
- 44:54SPEAKER_01: one of the most corrupt Supreme Court justices in American history,
- 44:58SPEAKER_01: a Christian nationalist,
- 45:00SPEAKER_01: and a pro-insurrectionist traitor, is not, we repeat, not resigning this year.
- 45:06SPEAKER_01: There was a flurry of reports that the second oldest justice, Thomas is 78 and Alito is 76,
- 45:15SPEAKER_00: I can't wait until they're both dead and I get to tears.
- 45:18SPEAKER_01: Was considering retiring before the end of the year,
- 45:21SPEAKER_01: which would allow Trump to appoint his replacement while Republicans are still
- 45:26SPEAKER_01: in control of the Senate.
- 45:28SPEAKER_01: Observers noted that both Alito and Thomas are both extremely arrogant.
- 45:33SPEAKER_01: Womp womp.
- 45:58SPEAKER_01: That is,
- 45:58SPEAKER_01: of course,
- 45:59SPEAKER_01: assuming Democrats do not immediately expand the court as soon as they control
- 46:03SPEAKER_01: the White House and the Senate in 2029.
- 46:05SPEAKER_01: Alito might be lying about this and planning to resign immediately
- 46:09SPEAKER_01: after Democrats win control of the Senate, but before they're sworn in next year.
- 46:14SPEAKER_01: But why lie?
- 46:15SPEAKER_01: Because his announcement would supercharge Democratic voters
- 46:19SPEAKER_01: who no longer take control of the Senate for granted,
- 46:22SPEAKER_01: which we did for such a long time, guys.
- 46:25SPEAKER_01: We really have to stop doing that.
- 46:27SPEAKER_01: No amount of,
- 46:29SPEAKER_01: I won't vote my fear,
- 46:31SPEAKER_01: from the alt-left will keep people from voting to regain control of
- 46:35SPEAKER_01: the Supreme Court after the damage they've done in the last several years.
- 46:39SPEAKER_01: I mean, we're looking at our uteruses.
- 46:41SPEAKER_01: Our uteri.
- 46:43SPEAKER_01: The left has finally cut up to where the right has been for the last 40 years.
- 46:48SPEAKER_01: It only took the overturning of Roe and the death and suffering of thousands
- 46:53SPEAKER_01: of women, but we got there.
- 46:54SPEAKER_01: Good job, guys.
- 46:57SPEAKER_01: Yay!
- 46:58SPEAKER_01: Alito knows this and would lie right to our faces if it meant helping Republicans.
- 47:02SPEAKER_01: He really is that corrupt and that partisan.
- 47:05SPEAKER_01: I mean, the interview he gave was on fucking Fox News.
- 47:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I know.
- 47:10SPEAKER_00: Jesus Christ.
- 47:11SPEAKER_01: And he's going to be on CBS.
- 47:13SPEAKER_01: Hello.
- 47:15SPEAKER_01: I guess we'll see what happens a month from now.
- 47:18SPEAKER_01: Same with Thomas.
- 47:19SPEAKER_01: But with Thomas, he'll do whatever his billionaire's owner asked him to do anyways.
- 47:23SPEAKER_01: Because he wouldn't want to give up that RV.
- 47:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah, exactly.
- 47:26SPEAKER_00: He's got to live that bowler lifestyle.
- 47:28SPEAKER_00: He's so used to it now.
- 47:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he can't be paying for his nephew to go to school.
- 47:32SPEAKER_00: That would be silly.
- 47:33SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 47:34SPEAKER_00: So one of the things I like to do is regularly remind people of just how vile
- 47:40SPEAKER_00: and repulsive the alt-left is, right?
- 47:41SPEAKER_00: I do this all the time.
- 47:43SPEAKER_00: I post constant screencaps of things that Glenn Greenwald,
- 47:48SPEAKER_00: Matt Taibbi, The Young Turks, et cetera, say and do.
- 47:51SPEAKER_00: And I point out just how fucked up these people are.
- 47:55SPEAKER_00: And another one of these fake progressive pieces of shit is Michael Treat.
- 47:59SPEAKER_00: He's on Substack.
- 48:00SPEAKER_00: So stop by and say hi.
- 48:02SPEAKER_00: He's a second tier scumbag.
- 48:04SPEAKER_00: He's not like one of the leading scumbags.
- 48:06SPEAKER_00: He's a second tier scumbag.
- 48:08SPEAKER_00: But still, he's a scumbag.
- 48:10SPEAKER_00: And one of the great joys of my life is getting...
- 48:13SPEAKER_00: Getting under the very,
- 48:14SPEAKER_00: very thin skin of these fucksticks because they're such little crybabies.
- 48:20SPEAKER_00: And like I've mentioned before that Cenk Uygur devoted an entire like 15,
- 48:25SPEAKER_00: 17 minute segment screeching He's in the middle of right now being raked over
- 48:31SPEAKER_00: the coals as a rape apologist, and he has big feelings.
- 48:56SPEAKER_01: Can't everyone just understand that he's just asking questions?
- 48:59SPEAKER_00: This has to do with the Cornell 7, which he thinks are being unfairly picked on by the mob.
- 49:05SPEAKER_00: He's not defending rapists, though.
- 49:07SPEAKER_00: He just wants them to have due process.
- 49:09SPEAKER_00: A due process that he does not extend to people he does not like Jew.
- 49:13SPEAKER_00: And also, what's wrong with trying to dox the alleged victim?
- 49:18SPEAKER_01: Why is everyone being so mean to him?
- 49:20SPEAKER_01: Didn't he actually reveal her name and then delete it?
- 49:23SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 49:24SPEAKER_01: Did he get that far?
- 49:25SPEAKER_01: I thought he did, yeah.
- 49:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so, yeah,
- 49:28SPEAKER_01: people are...
- 49:29SPEAKER_00: And it's important to understand that Tracy's audience is mediocre racist white boys
- 49:36SPEAKER_00: who only want to hear about how feminism
- 49:40SPEAKER_00: and identity politics have ruined their lives.
- 49:45SPEAKER_00: Jeffrey Epstein was even a pedophile and whether or not any of his victims
- 49:50SPEAKER_00: or even victims were even underage.
- 49:52SPEAKER_00: When Russia attacked Ukraine,
- 49:54SPEAKER_00: Tracy literally went to Ukraine to try and disprove if Russia had even invaded
- 49:59SPEAKER_00: and was caught trying to give away Ukrainian troop positions.
- 50:04SPEAKER_00: Honestly, I'm surprised he wasn't shot as a spy.
- 50:07SPEAKER_00: And, oh, he's a Russiagate denier.
- 50:09SPEAKER_00: Donald Trump 100% did not work with Russia to steal the 2016 election.
- 50:13SPEAKER_00: No, sir.
- 50:15SPEAKER_00: But don't you forget, Michael Tracy's a true progressive.
- 50:18SPEAKER_00: Not like you, you corporate-centric sellout shill.
- 50:22SPEAKER_00: Anyway, everything he does almost always seems to help Republican.
- 50:27SPEAKER_00: And this is who I'm talking about when I talk about the alt-left.
- 50:31SPEAKER_00: And that is whose skin I got under this week because a hit dog will holler.
- 50:35SPEAKER_00: Ha ha ha.
- 50:37SPEAKER_00: I love it.
- 50:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I typically stay out of your war against the alt-left because after all,
- 50:43SPEAKER_01: I did want to get a Bernie Sanders tattoo at some point.
- 50:47SPEAKER_00: I forget that.
- 50:49SPEAKER_01: But I then went to Michael Tracy's Substack wall and scrolled,
- 50:55SPEAKER_01: and I was so disgusted that I told Ogre, you have to talk about this on the pod.
- 51:01SPEAKER_00: You have to rip him apart on the pod because it was so bad.
- 51:06SPEAKER_00: He's just trash.
- 51:07SPEAKER_00: He's just one of those, I'm just asking questions.
- 51:09SPEAKER_00: We don't know anything.
- 51:12SPEAKER_00: We have to wait for the process to play out, blah, blah, blah.
- 51:14SPEAKER_00: And it's just like, dude, no.
- 51:17SPEAKER_01: No, he literally said he was upset.
- 51:21SPEAKER_01: Hold on.
- 51:22SPEAKER_01: Let me just tell you guys.
- 51:23SPEAKER_01: This is him.
- 51:24SPEAKER_01: New rule.
- 51:26SPEAKER_01: Stop presumptively declaring people to be victims when their victimhood
- 51:31SPEAKER_01: or lack thereof is precisely what is in dispute.
- 51:35SPEAKER_01: Short-circuiting the entire fact-finding and legal process
- 51:39SPEAKER_01: by assigning this label explains a lot of why everybody's gone berserk
- 51:45SPEAKER_01: over this shit.
- 51:47SPEAKER_01: And then he goes on for a minute.
- 51:49SPEAKER_01: And then he says, see also Epstein survivors.
- 51:53SPEAKER_01: He put it in quotes.
- 51:54SPEAKER_01: Everyone and their mother gets universally declared a survivor as
- 51:59SPEAKER_01: though they survived some massive Holocaust like historical atrocity without
- 52:05SPEAKER_01: a single detail of their claimed victimization being minimally corroborated.
- 52:10SPEAKER_01: That's what he's saying about Epstein victims.
- 52:12SPEAKER_01: Now, mind you.
- 52:13SPEAKER_01: Ghislaine Maxwell has been convicted of trafficking minors.
- 52:19SPEAKER_01: She has been convicted of enticing minors.
- 52:22SPEAKER_01: She has all of these things that she was actually convicted of.
- 52:26SPEAKER_01: So is it really like he's arguing Yeah, that's my thing.
- 52:28SPEAKER_01: It's his thing.
- 52:29SPEAKER_01: Stay in your lane.
- 52:53SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 52:54SPEAKER_01: But as far as the Cornell 7 go, they were punished by the university.
- 52:59SPEAKER_01: Law enforcement failed to do their job and punish them criminally,
- 53:03SPEAKER_01: but they were punished by the university.
- 53:05SPEAKER_01: Not enough, in our opinions, but they did get punished.
- 53:09SPEAKER_01: So guess what?
- 53:10SPEAKER_01: The university decided that the victim was a victim.
- 53:14SPEAKER_01: Not us.
- 53:15SPEAKER_01: The university decided that.
- 53:17SPEAKER_01: We wouldn't even know about it.
- 53:20SPEAKER_00: Clearly, someone decided something happened.
- 53:23SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 53:24SPEAKER_01: By a preponderance of the evidence.
- 53:27SPEAKER_01: And the fraternity was shut down.
- 53:30SPEAKER_01: Now, do you think they would have shut down the fraternity if there was nothing wrong?
- 53:33SPEAKER_01: When fraternity members pay so much money and some of that money goes to
- 53:39SPEAKER_01: the universities, do you think that it would have gotten shut down?
- 53:42SPEAKER_01: Of course not.
- 53:43SPEAKER_01: So Michael Tracy can go suck a big fucking dick.
- 53:46SPEAKER_01: And, you know, if he falls into a pond full of alligators, whatever.
- 53:51SPEAKER_00: You know,
- 53:52SPEAKER_00: of all the things,
- 53:53SPEAKER_00: it's so weird that so many of these progressive men,
- 53:58SPEAKER_00: these super progressive men of all the things that are happening in the world,
- 54:03SPEAKER_00: it's so weird how frequently people And they keep coming back to the same.
- 54:21SPEAKER_00: It's like, dude,
- 54:29SPEAKER_00: even if you believe that's true,
- 54:31SPEAKER_00: there's so many other things that you could be focusing on as a person.
- 54:39SPEAKER_00: But that's not what your audience wants to hear.
- 54:42SPEAKER_00: Your audience wants to hear of your audience of mediocre,
- 54:46SPEAKER_00: racist, white, you know, aggrieved white boys.
- 54:50SPEAKER_00: They only want to hear about housing.
- 54:52SPEAKER_00: How they're victimized.
- 54:54SPEAKER_00: That's all they want to hear about.
- 54:55SPEAKER_00: They want to hear about how feminism ruins their lives and how,
- 55:00SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 55:01SPEAKER_00: if you're Greenwald, do you want to hear about how the Jews are ruining their lives?
- 55:04SPEAKER_00: If they're Mataibi, it's women ruining their lives.
- 55:07SPEAKER_00: It's the same thing over and over.
- 55:09SPEAKER_00: They don't want to talk about any of this progressive stuff
- 55:12SPEAKER_00: because this is just their gateway drug.
- 55:15SPEAKER_01: Ask yourself this.
- 55:16SPEAKER_01: How many times have you seen Michael Tracy,
- 55:18SPEAKER_01: Matt Taibbi, Glenn Greenwald, Cenk Uygur at a fuck the ice protest?
- 55:23SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 55:24SPEAKER_01: They don't
- 55:28SPEAKER_00: go to this stuff.
- 55:29SPEAKER_00: They don't go.
- 55:29SPEAKER_00: They don't champion real progressive causes because that's not what their audience wants.
- 55:33SPEAKER_01: How many times have you seen them marching for reproductive rights?
- 55:37SPEAKER_00: Black Lives Matter.
- 55:39SPEAKER_01: Black Lives Matter.
- 55:40SPEAKER_00: Or anything.
- 55:41SPEAKER_00: When was the last time they showed up at a detention center?
- 55:45SPEAKER_00: They don't.
- 55:46SPEAKER_00: They don't.
- 55:46SPEAKER_00: They'll show up at Free Palestine because they can scream their hate about Israel
- 55:53SPEAKER_00: and Jews because that's what their audience wants to hear.
- 55:56SPEAKER_00: But they don't give a shit about anything else.
- 55:58SPEAKER_00: It's not important enough.
- 56:00SPEAKER_00: It has to do with appealing to their audience of mediocre, racist, agreed white boys.
- 56:05SPEAKER_01: Whew.
- 56:06SPEAKER_01: But we have to move on because my stomach is hurting from those jalapenos.
- 56:11SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 56:12SPEAKER_00: It's time for our self-care of the week.
- 56:17SPEAKER_00: Which would require not eating jalapenos for breakfast, apparently.
- 56:21SPEAKER_01: Oh, my God.
- 56:21SPEAKER_01: I should have done it.
- 56:22SPEAKER_01: It's bad.
- 56:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 56:25SPEAKER_01: So I had a crazy busy weekend.
- 56:27SPEAKER_01: My brother bought his first home last week.
- 56:29SPEAKER_01: Yay for him.
- 56:31SPEAKER_01: So proud of him.
- 56:32SPEAKER_01: So my husband and I helped him move.
- 56:35SPEAKER_01: Mostly I just went through my prized Starbucks mug collection.
- 56:40SPEAKER_01: And packed some of the stuff that we left there while my husband moved actual heavy furniture.
- 56:45SPEAKER_01: I won't lie, I did spend a large amount of time sitting down.
- 56:49SPEAKER_01: And then on Sunday, my oldest met me at his uncle's new house so that I could borrow his car.
- 56:54SPEAKER_01: Which is my former car, but when he got his license, I just gave him my car.
- 56:58SPEAKER_01: Which, in hindsight, probably wasn't a great idea.
- 57:02SPEAKER_01: Because I have to borrow my car every once in a while.
- 57:04SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 57:27SPEAKER_01: That was weird, but we didn't really think anything of it.
- 57:30SPEAKER_01: I bought Chinese for him to take home to eat with his girlfriend for dinner.
- 57:34SPEAKER_01: And then as we drove to Tampa, he was like, hey, mom, do you have ibuprofen in your purse?
- 57:38SPEAKER_01: And I said, no, you know, my purse is in your dad's car.
- 57:41SPEAKER_01: And I asked him if his head hurts.
- 57:42SPEAKER_01: And he said, yeah.
- 57:44SPEAKER_01: And I go, okay, well just lay back and I'll drive you home.
- 57:47SPEAKER_01: Just rest, right?
- 57:48SPEAKER_01: He'd worked 12 hours that day.
- 57:50SPEAKER_01: He was tired.
- 57:51SPEAKER_01: And plus he's always gotten car sick.
- 57:54SPEAKER_01: I talked on the last show about how he used to puke in my car all the time.
- 57:58SPEAKER_00: Blech.
- 57:59SPEAKER_01: So he's always been carsick, you know?
- 58:00SPEAKER_01: So I was like, just lay back.
- 58:02SPEAKER_01: He's like, no, I don't really get to spend a lot of time with you, so I want to talk to you.
- 58:05SPEAKER_01: But by the time we got to his apartment, he could barely open his eyes.
- 58:09SPEAKER_01: And then as we got closer, he was like, fuck, it's a migraine.
- 58:14SPEAKER_01: And I go, oh, why did you get the aura?
- 58:16SPEAKER_01: Because,
- 58:16SPEAKER_01: you know,
- 58:17SPEAKER_01: if you've ever experienced migraines,
- 58:18SPEAKER_01: you know that a lot of times before you get the actual pain,
- 58:22SPEAKER_01: you have, like, weird feelings, like ocular problems.
- 58:26SPEAKER_01: And he's like, yeah, that blurry vision.
- 58:30SPEAKER_01: So I dropped him off and I told him to call me in the morning
- 58:34SPEAKER_01: if he needed medication because I'd be on his college campus anyways at
- 58:38SPEAKER_01: the Cancer Center.
- 58:39SPEAKER_01: Fortunately, he was good as new on Monday, but he did tell me that he's been getting migraines.
- 58:43SPEAKER_01: Aye, aye, aye.
- 59:06SPEAKER_01: I thought maybe his migraine came from the Bills losing on Sunday,
- 59:09SPEAKER_01: but,
- 59:10SPEAKER_01: you know, apparently that was only my migraine.
- 59:12SPEAKER_01: So my uncle had his endoscopy and that went really well.
- 59:16SPEAKER_01: It only took 15 minutes, which I thought was crazy.
- 59:19SPEAKER_01: We find out the results next week, I think.
- 59:21SPEAKER_01: And then I spent the rest of Monday celebrating my mom's 66th birthday.
- 59:28SPEAKER_01: And meal prepping for Aiden because he wanted me to go buy pre-made meals at Costco,
- 59:33SPEAKER_01: but something happened and I didn't go do that.
- 59:35SPEAKER_01: So I just meal prepped for him.
- 59:37SPEAKER_01: I literally spent the whole day cooking all day.
- 59:40SPEAKER_01: And then I drove back to Tampa with all of the food and dropped off his car and the food.
- 59:45SPEAKER_01: I left my house at 5am on Monday and I literally didn't sit down to relax until 11pm.
- 59:51SPEAKER_01: It was crazy.
- 59:53SPEAKER_01: I can't complain, though,
- 59:54SPEAKER_01: because I love when he needs me to do things like cooking his meals for the week.
- 59:58SPEAKER_01: He's going to be 22 next month, and he's pretty independent.
- 1:00:01SPEAKER_01: He doesn't need a whole lot for me,
- 1:00:03SPEAKER_01: but doing stuff like that reminds me that I'm still his mommy.
- 1:00:06SPEAKER_01: And when I told my husband that, he laughed at me.
- 1:00:09SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 1:00:10SPEAKER_00: When I get to do stuff for Lila, it's the same thing.
- 1:00:12SPEAKER_00: Even if it's little things, it's like I still get to do stuff for her.
- 1:00:15SPEAKER_00: Yay.
- 1:00:16SPEAKER_01: I told him yesterday, I said, I think I'm going to crash out when you're in medical school.
- 1:00:19SPEAKER_01: Because if he goes to medical school in another state,
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_01: obviously I'm not going to be able to just cook for him all one day and bring it
- 1:00:28SPEAKER_01: to him.
- 1:00:29SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 1:00:29SPEAKER_00: He'll be too far away.
- 1:00:30SPEAKER_01: Well, unless he's close to you, then I'll make you do that for me.
- 1:00:33SPEAKER_00: Oh, gee.
- 1:00:34SPEAKER_00: Yay.
- 1:00:37SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 1:00:39SPEAKER_00: So Friday night, I dropped Jordan off at a social group for older special needs kids.
- 1:00:45SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's cool.
- 1:00:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he had a really good time.
- 1:00:48SPEAKER_00: He drew some pictures because, you know, that's what he does.
- 1:00:51SPEAKER_00: And he also painted a picture and glued leaves to it and watched some videos, played some games.
- 1:00:55SPEAKER_00: It was his first time there, and he had a really, really good time.
- 1:00:59SPEAKER_00: They have this group like twice a month,
- 1:01:01SPEAKER_00: and there's an associated summer camp we're trying to get him to.
- 1:01:04SPEAKER_00: We're going to try and enroll him in to keep him active this summer.
- 1:01:06SPEAKER_00: So no more sleeping until 9.30 and laying in bed watching YouTube.
- 1:01:10SPEAKER_00: Sorry, Jordan.
- 1:01:11SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's cool.
- 1:01:11SPEAKER_01: So they offer like respite care?
- 1:01:14SPEAKER_01: You guys can get a break?
- 1:01:16SPEAKER_00: We don't know if they do that.
- 1:01:18SPEAKER_00: We've had opportunities to use respite care.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_00: We've never used it though, like ever.
- 1:01:23SPEAKER_00: Like his entire life, we've never used respite care.
- 1:01:25SPEAKER_00: Really?
- 1:01:26SPEAKER_01: My best friend does it now for an old client of hers that she knows because she's
- 1:01:32SPEAKER_01: an RBT and she's going to school to be a BCBA.
- 1:01:35SPEAKER_01: And she did respite care last week.
- 1:01:39SPEAKER_01: It's for like a wealthy family.
- 1:01:40SPEAKER_01: They paid her like $1,500 for like three days of respite care.
- 1:01:44SPEAKER_01: I was like, damn.
- 1:01:46SPEAKER_00: It feels weird to have someone stay with him so we can go out and do stuff.
- 1:01:51SPEAKER_01: No, I think all parents deserve to do that.
- 1:01:54SPEAKER_00: Well, Anastasia's old enough she can watch them.
- 1:01:58SPEAKER_00: I mean, there's been times where Claudia's watched the kids.
- 1:02:00SPEAKER_00: We've gone out, but we don't do that.
- 1:02:02SPEAKER_01: I think it's different for her because she's been watching this kid for years.
- 1:02:07SPEAKER_01: So he knows her.
- 1:02:08SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 1:02:08SPEAKER_01: Like he's an adult now.
- 1:02:09SPEAKER_01: He's Jordan's age and he knows her really well.
- 1:02:12SPEAKER_01: So I guess it would be like a friend coming over.
- 1:02:15SPEAKER_01: You know what I mean?
- 1:02:16SPEAKER_01: Not just like a random stranger, different strangers every single time.
- 1:02:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:02:20SPEAKER_01: I mean, I don't think autism would like that anyways.
- 1:02:24SPEAKER_00: He wouldn't mind because he just kind of does what he does.
- 1:02:27SPEAKER_00: So it would just be someone literally just kind of hanging out here
- 1:02:30SPEAKER_00: and just being here while he does what he does.
- 1:02:32SPEAKER_00: But it just always felt weird to be like,
- 1:02:34SPEAKER_00: yeah, stay and watch our kids so we can go out and do something without them.
- 1:02:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:02:39SPEAKER_01: I mean, you're kind of like me.
- 1:02:42SPEAKER_01: You never really hired babysitters either.
- 1:02:45SPEAKER_01: My parents watched my kids, but I don't think I've ever hired a babysitter for my kids.
- 1:02:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we never really
- 1:02:52SPEAKER_00: needed a break from the kids.
- 1:02:55SPEAKER_00: We did all the stuff we wanted to do before.
- 1:02:58SPEAKER_01: I guess so, because you had them when you were a little bit older.
- 1:03:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:03:03SPEAKER_00: So we didn't need to go out and do stuff without the kids.
- 1:03:05SPEAKER_00: It wasn't really like we did the stuff we wanted to do without the kids.
- 1:03:09SPEAKER_00: Now, when we go out, we want the kids to come with us, so we do stuff as a family.
- 1:03:13SPEAKER_01: I understand.
- 1:03:16SPEAKER_01: My kids always went to my mom's house every single weekend,
- 1:03:18SPEAKER_01: not because I wanted to get rid of them, although sometimes I was so happy.
- 1:03:24SPEAKER_01: But because I thought it was super important for them to have a good relationship
- 1:03:28SPEAKER_01: with their grandparents.
- 1:03:29SPEAKER_01: So they always went to my parents' house.
- 1:03:31SPEAKER_01: And I think they like my parents better than they like me.
- 1:03:35SPEAKER_00: Well, Debbie's father and stepmother were too old.
- 1:03:38SPEAKER_00: And one or two times...
- 1:03:39SPEAKER_01: I'm very lucky.
- 1:03:41SPEAKER_00: Well, the one or two times that they stayed over with Debbie's mother, it just didn't work out.
- 1:03:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:03:47SPEAKER_01: I am very blessed to have the mother and father that I have.
- 1:03:51SPEAKER_01: So anyway...
- 1:03:52SPEAKER_00: Anyway, you all know where I was on Saturday.
- 1:03:55SPEAKER_00: I was at the festival all day.
- 1:03:57SPEAKER_00: But Sunday morning,
- 1:03:58SPEAKER_00: I dragged my very tired and very achy self out of bed and made breakfast
- 1:04:02SPEAKER_00: for everyone.
- 1:04:03SPEAKER_00: Debbie made – Mrs. Ogre made pancakes.
- 1:04:07SPEAKER_00: I made everything else.
- 1:04:10SPEAKER_00: Lila was in for the weekend,
- 1:04:11SPEAKER_00: and I'm trying very,
- 1:04:12SPEAKER_00: very hard to make family breakfast a thing whenever she comes in.
- 1:04:16SPEAKER_00: If not breakfast, at least one meal – While she's here for the weekend.
- 1:04:20SPEAKER_00: So we sat around, we talked and we had a good time, yada, yada, yada.
- 1:04:25SPEAKER_00: Lila told us everything that's going on with college.
- 1:04:28SPEAKER_00: She's doing really well.
- 1:04:30SPEAKER_00: She got top of her class in a calc test by a lot.
- 1:04:34SPEAKER_00: She was floating on cloud nine about that.
- 1:04:36SPEAKER_00: And she hasn't really discussed her other classes,
- 1:04:38SPEAKER_00: but I don't think she's like she's not failing or anything.
- 1:04:41SPEAKER_00: She just hasn't because she hasn't sunk into depression and she's not talking about quitting.
- 1:04:45SPEAKER_00: She doesn't love her other classes as much as she likes her math class because she's
- 1:04:49SPEAKER_00: a nerd, but she's sticking with it.
- 1:04:51SPEAKER_00: And that's a big fucking deal with her.
- 1:04:53SPEAKER_00: And, you know, it's the same thing with her roommates who are a bit of a slob.
- 1:04:57SPEAKER_00: But, you know, she's not freaking out.
- 1:04:59SPEAKER_00: She's not withdrawing.
- 1:05:00SPEAKER_00: She doesn't have like social anxiety about the whole thing, which, again, is a big fucking deal.
- 1:05:05SPEAKER_00: You know, she's handling it.
- 1:05:07SPEAKER_00: And we're super proud of how well she's doing on her own.
- 1:05:10SPEAKER_00: It's almost like we've raised a functional adult or something.
- 1:05:12SPEAKER_00: Isn't that weird?
- 1:05:13SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 1:05:14SPEAKER_00: Sunday night,
- 1:05:15SPEAKER_00: I dropped Anastasia off at the Metro Station,
- 1:05:17SPEAKER_00: and she and a friend went into D.C.
- 1:05:19SPEAKER_00: by themselves to go see Olivia Rodrigo at the Capital One Arena.
- 1:05:23SPEAKER_00: They both foamed at the mouth.
- 1:05:26SPEAKER_00: Anastasia has been in lust with Rodrigo for years and her head exploded
- 1:05:30SPEAKER_00: the entire time that she was up on stage.
- 1:05:32SPEAKER_00: And this was her first solo concert.
- 1:05:34SPEAKER_00: And she was thrilled to go off on her own into DC like an adult.
- 1:05:37SPEAKER_00: And I knew she was going to be surrounded by a bunch of women and other girls the entire time.
- 1:05:41SPEAKER_00: There wasn't, I wasn't worried at all.
- 1:05:43SPEAKER_00: And again,
- 1:05:44SPEAKER_00: we appeared to be raising a functional adult who can take the train by herself into
- 1:05:49SPEAKER_00: the city for the night out.
- 1:05:50SPEAKER_00: It was, you know, it was a nice weekend.
- 1:05:52SPEAKER_00: So everyone, I know it's like we're successful parents or something.
- 1:05:56SPEAKER_00: It's so weird, right?
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_00: So yeah, no, it was thriving.
- 1:06:03SPEAKER_00: Thriving kids, it was a good weekend, so yay.
- 1:06:07SPEAKER_00: All right, that is it for today's show.
