- 0:14Speaker 1: with the Morning Crew and the stories we are looking
- 0:18Speaker 1: at that you're no doubt going to be hearing and
- 0:22Speaker 1: staring at if you watch any of the platforms. Government
- 0:27Speaker 1: shutdown still going on. Well, it's been over a week
- 0:30Speaker 1: and it's started. It's going to start to really hurt
- 0:34Speaker 1: a lot of people starting next week. And peace broke
- 0:38Speaker 1: out in Gaza. Ceasefire is now in effect and it's
- 0:42Speaker 1: the president who pulled that one off for sure. Okay,
- 0:47Speaker 1: now it's time for Foody Friday with Neil. Neil Sevadra,
- 0:50Speaker 1: who is like that guy. He seems nice, He is nice,
- 0:53Speaker 1: sort of the host of the Fork Report tomorrow from
- 0:56Speaker 1: two to five pm and you can reach him into
- 0:59Speaker 1: social address a Fork reporter and I love doing this.
- 1:03Speaker 2: So what do we start with?
- 1:05Speaker 1: What is the most important item we could ever do
- 1:07Speaker 1: in food and that's Costco.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Did I go to Costco yesterday?
- 1:11Speaker 1: I did go to Costco yesterday and there I noticed
- 1:16Speaker 1: that the food court where quite often I eat lunch
- 1:19Speaker 1: and food both coming and going. I'm going into Costco
- 1:22Speaker 1: and I'll grab a piece of pizza.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Okay, you grab a slice of pizza. Yeah. You go in, Yeah,
- 1:27Speaker 2: you have all the samples.
- 1:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Then all your way out, you grab a hot dog Annesota.
- 1:31Speaker 2: That's actually correct. Wow. And I spend five bucks or
- 1:35Speaker 2: whatever and you look great. Quite honest for you. I
- 1:38Speaker 2: don't understand it. Yeah.
- 1:39Speaker 1: So anyway, Costco, and this doesn't happen very often, but
- 1:44Speaker 1: I go into the food court and they have new stuff.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Yeah, they do on occasion.
- 1:48Speaker 4: They sometimes it goes over like a turt and a
- 1:51Speaker 4: punch bowl, like when they got rid of the Tcheudeau.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Oh I know it had those chocolate cookies. Give me
- 1:56Speaker 2: a break.
- 1:57Speaker 4: Yeah, the chocolate chip cookies that are twenty five hundred calories.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Yeah, and they're horrible. I think I haven't had well,
- 2:02Speaker 1: they're not that good. The churros were phenomenal.
- 2:05Speaker 4: People love and churros are I mean, they don't cost much.
- 2:10Speaker 4: I would imagine the chocolate chip cookie is actually more
- 2:13Speaker 4: expensive to make, but a lot of people still smarting
- 2:16Speaker 4: about that. But Costco Fruit Court added a caramel brownie
- 2:21Speaker 4: Sunday for only.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Two ninety nine and.
- 2:24Speaker 4: It's people are loving it now. Some say that it
- 2:27Speaker 4: mirrors the Sam's Club. They had a brownie, they have
- 2:31Speaker 4: their own Brownie Sunday, but they go back and forth.
- 2:34Speaker 4: We don't have as many Sam's Clubs out here. I'm
- 2:38Speaker 4: trying to think where the nearest one is. You've never
- 2:42Speaker 4: had a You've never dipped your toe in another sam Club.
- 2:47Speaker 1: I've never been in a Sam's Club really, right, Okay,
- 2:52Speaker 1: And they have the not exactly new, it's been around
- 2:55Speaker 1: for a little while, but that turkey and Provoloni sandwich,
- 2:59Speaker 1: which is oh that massive sandwich to Costco enormous.
- 3:02Speaker 2: And pizza is always there. Pizza. It's a little greasy,
- 3:07Speaker 2: but it's so what you do. The crust is not
- 3:11Speaker 2: real crispy.
- 3:12Speaker 1: I like their dewey Costo which and you have to
- 3:15Speaker 1: take the napkins and blot off.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Yeah, probably, but it's very very good.
- 3:19Speaker 1: And their hot dog dollar fifty will never go away.
- 3:23Speaker 1: A dollar fifty and the drink for a buck fifty.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Well here's two things.
- 3:27Speaker 4: So now Costco has this particular new item which is
- 3:31Speaker 4: the Sunday, the Brownie Sunday.
- 3:35Speaker 2: But do you remember that really.
- 3:37Speaker 4: Good Costco chocolate cake with the shavings of chocolate on top,
- 3:44Speaker 4: and it was fudgy and delicious throughout. That went away
- 3:48Speaker 4: sometime ago, and now there's a chocolate fudge cake that
- 3:51Speaker 4: they brought back. The only difference that I can see
- 3:55Speaker 4: at this point is they don't have those chocolate shavings
- 3:58Speaker 4: on top. Otherwise it looks like the exact same cake.
- 4:03Speaker 4: And that is back at Costco now at the food court. No,
- 4:06Speaker 4: this is inside the bakery, okay.
- 4:08Speaker 2: And is it a bout cake.
- 4:10Speaker 4: No, it's a it's a layer cake, ground layer cake,
- 4:13Speaker 4: which is you know my favorite.
- 4:15Speaker 2: I love a good layer I'll tell you the thing.
- 4:16Speaker 1: The one thing at Costco that they're actually poor at
- 4:20Speaker 1: their bagels. Their bread is spectacular, Yeah, they got great bread.
- 4:24Speaker 1: I don't like their bagels.
- 4:25Speaker 4: Bagels are weird though they're not very particular about bagels I.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Am you need. First of all, I don't think they're
- 4:31Speaker 2: real jew bagels at all, which you say are toothy
- 4:35Speaker 2: and chewy. Yeah, just you have the perfect chew and
- 4:39Speaker 2: the crust.
- 4:40Speaker 4: Which is they've been boiled so they have the tight
- 4:42Speaker 4: skin on the outside.
- 4:44Speaker 2: That's a lot of us. I don't need to know that.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Okay, let's take a okay, back we go and Trader Jokes.
- 4:55Speaker 1: I happen to like Trader Joe's my two favorite places
- 4:57Speaker 1: to shop, or of course Costco.
- 4:59Speaker 2: And Trader Hey.
- 5:00Speaker 4: Before we get to trade of Joe's, I wanted to
- 5:02Speaker 4: give you a heads up on something recently. We were
- 5:05Speaker 4: talking about corn dogs on the air and Amy and
- 5:10Speaker 4: I were singing the praises of the Little Red Wagon
- 5:12Speaker 4: in Disneyland on Main Street because they're phenomenal. But you
- 5:16Speaker 4: said something, you said you can't you were having problems
- 5:19Speaker 4: finding corn corn dogs that were beef at the store
- 5:23Speaker 4: at the supermarket. Yeah, so guess what's happening. Wiener Snitzel
- 5:27Speaker 4: is putting out frozen corn dogs now.
- 5:31Speaker 2: And I love their corn dogs.
- 5:33Speaker 4: So they are putting I know because you and I
- 5:35Speaker 4: used to go just right over here, yes, right down
- 5:37Speaker 4: the street from the station.
- 5:39Speaker 2: We'd go eat them here.
- 5:40Speaker 4: So they are putting their standard one, and then they're
- 5:45Speaker 4: putting one with like queso or cheese, spicy cheese or
- 5:49Speaker 4: something like that in it.
- 5:51Speaker 2: But my understanding is they're beef, all beef, So.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a real corn dog. I've never understood chicken
- 5:57Speaker 1: corn dogs.
- 5:58Speaker 2: You go to the fair.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Those are real corn dogs, none of this chicken crap
- 6:05Speaker 1: and wiener Stitze.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Real corn dogs. And you want to taste the horns
- 6:10Speaker 2: and the dives.
- 6:10Speaker 1: And I'm assuming Disneyland, those are real beef hot dogs.
- 6:15Speaker 4: It is so magical. I know chefs that are like, yeah,
- 6:18Speaker 4: that's the best corn dog I've ever had in my
- 6:20Speaker 4: entire life. It really is quite spectacular. But now on
- 6:25Speaker 4: to Trader Joe's. They've got some new products under five bucks,
- 6:30Speaker 4: and these really caught my eye. I love this. Now
- 6:33Speaker 4: I know you're not a balsamic vinegar guy, if I remember, no,
- 6:36Speaker 4: I am are you?
- 6:37Speaker 2: Okay? I thought you were. I thought you're like.
- 6:39Speaker 1: And but no, good good balsamic vinegar from Italy for example,
- 6:43Speaker 1: from modern now, but we're talking about twenty five year
- 6:48Speaker 1: old balsamic vinegar.
- 6:50Speaker 2: I mean you know this stuff is Yeah.
- 6:52Speaker 4: You like them like you like your new wives. The
- 6:54Speaker 4: peach flavored glades and viscous bro that sounds like the
- 7:07Speaker 4: worst wrap team in the world. Ladies and gentlemen coming
- 7:11Speaker 4: to the stage. Thick and biscuits, yo yo yo, okay,
- 7:15Speaker 4: peach flavored glaze to ninety nine. But this is a
- 7:20Speaker 4: a balsamic vinegar peach glaze that you can get there
- 7:25Speaker 4: at Trader Joe's.
- 7:26Speaker 2: That looks delicious.
- 7:28Speaker 4: Also, this one what a magic combination goat cheese and
- 7:33Speaker 4: caramelized onion wrapped like Barrioli.
- 7:36Speaker 2: Ohne nine baby. So how magical is that? Yeah?
- 7:43Speaker 4: So that's a that's a great appetizer there, that one
- 7:47Speaker 4: they have these protein pancakes. Protein pancakes are starting to
- 7:50Speaker 4: become popular right now, and those are just you know,
- 7:52Speaker 4: higher protein pancakes and in this case they're made with
- 7:58Speaker 4: cottage cheese, egg whites, oak flower.
- 8:00Speaker 2: These kinds of sound was disgusting real quickly.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Uh, Trader joe as you go in, either you get
- 8:06Speaker 1: it by mail or you're going to the store. The
- 8:08Speaker 1: Fearless Flyer their monthly sort of news magazine. You read
- 8:13Speaker 1: it and it's the best written stuff. I don't know
- 8:15Speaker 1: who writes the call. It's hilarious and it's wonderful.
- 8:17Speaker 2: You want to buy everything that's in the Flyer. There
- 8:21Speaker 2: was a there was.
- 8:22Speaker 4: A company that I think recently closed its doors, but
- 8:25Speaker 4: it's been him around for a long time online called
- 8:28Speaker 4: Sci Scientific. Something that you could buy like use science
- 8:34Speaker 4: equipment and things like that.
- 8:35Speaker 2: And they wrote like that.
- 8:36Speaker 4: They wrote it's with tongue in cheek, but also described
- 8:40Speaker 4: something so wonderfully that you want to, you know, you
- 8:44Speaker 4: want to.
- 8:44Speaker 1: Buy it, and say things like our buyer was in
- 8:47Speaker 1: Italy and ran across, uh this vineyard and said, you've
- 8:52Speaker 1: got to buy every last one to bring him to
- 8:54Speaker 1: the States.
- 8:55Speaker 4: And yeah, so so Trader Joe's has a lot of
- 8:59Speaker 4: really there for their false stuff. Those were some things
- 9:03Speaker 4: that stood out. In addition to they have the simmit
- 9:05Speaker 4: Turkish sesame bread, which sounds delicious as well. They just
- 9:10Speaker 4: have a good variety of things.
- 9:12Speaker 1: Yeah, they just they're so inexpensive relative to other stores.
- 9:16Speaker 2: They're so reasonably priced. Hey, we just had.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Had time for one more and that is a new
- 9:24Speaker 1: limited time cereal which we used to never see hitting
- 9:27Speaker 1: the shells. My favorite one is smoked macrol oat flakes.
- 9:31Speaker 4: It's delicious, especially with a raw oat milk to really
- 9:36Speaker 4: add to it. That's gross, this one. I love cereal.
- 9:41Speaker 4: I don't know what it is, but it's a comfort
- 9:43Speaker 4: food to me. I love being able to pour a
- 9:45Speaker 4: bowl of cereal. I even like hot cereal. Your cream
- 9:48Speaker 4: of weeds, that type thing, your grits, those types of things.
- 9:52Speaker 4: But there's a limited time cereal that just dropped and
- 9:56Speaker 4: it sounds delicious. It's from the folks that bring you
- 10:00Speaker 4: the honey Bunches of Oats, but this one is sugar
- 10:03Speaker 4: cookie flavored.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Oh for the holidays, right, I love a.
- 10:06Speaker 4: Good sugar cookie, So Honey Bunches of Oats they're introducing
- 10:11Speaker 4: this first of its kind holiday flavors, sugar sugar cookie.
- 10:15Speaker 4: And it's all their crispy flakes and other crunchy oak
- 10:18Speaker 4: clusters and all of that, but instead of you know,
- 10:22Speaker 4: the honey, it's going to be that buttery goodness that
- 10:25Speaker 4: we love around Christmas.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, we've been talking a lot about additional flavors.
- 10:31Speaker 1: You know. The other day, I was in the supermarket
- 10:33Speaker 1: and I happen to go down the cookie aisle and I'm.
- 10:36Speaker 2: Looking at what's happened to stumbled. I bought a couple
- 10:39Speaker 2: of cookies.
- 10:40Speaker 1: But I go down the cookie aisle and I'm looking
- 10:42Speaker 1: at Oreos. They had eighteen different kinds of Oreo cookies.
- 10:49Speaker 4: Absolutely, sorry, I just took some letter. Absolutely they're known
- 10:53Speaker 4: for it, and some of them are kind of they're
- 10:56Speaker 4: more novelty, and they come and go and then some
- 10:59Speaker 4: of them are are so beloved that they stick around.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Now, I mean the traditional oreo, but the super thin oreo,
- 11:04Speaker 1: the extra thick cream oreo.
- 11:07Speaker 4: Yeah, and then you have stuff like you also have
- 11:10Speaker 4: like birthday cake oreo, which is pretty tasty, smoked mackerel.
- 11:16Speaker 4: In the smoke macrel. I know you're not getting enough
- 11:19Speaker 4: mercury in your life.
- 11:20Speaker 2: What's the problem.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Yeah, Well, if you can take your temperature with fish
- 11:24Speaker 1: sticks these days, you know.
- 11:25Speaker 2: Okay, we are done.
- 11:28Speaker 1: Okay, it's ask Handle anything, and the rules are the same.
- 11:33Speaker 2: You record these questions.
- 11:35Speaker 1: I have no idea what they are, and Neil chooses
- 11:37Speaker 1: them and the whole point is to embarrass me. I
- 11:39Speaker 1: hear them for the first time. And this is how
- 11:41Speaker 1: we do it on Friday Kono.
- 11:44Speaker 3: First question, This is Cally from Riverside, California. My question
- 11:49Speaker 3: for Bill Handle is are you an atheist? Do you
- 11:53Speaker 3: believe in God? That's my question.
- 11:56Speaker 2: Boy, that's a good question. She was asking, you know,
- 12:00Speaker 2: yeah she was, and she was whispering, yeah she was.
- 12:04Speaker 2: You know, am I an atheist?
- 12:07Speaker 1: I don't know if I call myself an area I
- 12:10Speaker 1: am agnostic guy, because it's hard to say there is
- 12:13Speaker 1: no God, because you don't know.
- 12:16Speaker 4: If I were you, I wouldn't believe in God. E
- 12:19Speaker 4: free time I look myself in the mirror, I.
- 12:21Speaker 2: Go, I don't know. I don't know.
- 12:23Speaker 1: If it's hard. It's all a leap of faith anyway
- 12:26Speaker 1: to a certain point. Yeah, so I don't know. So
- 12:28Speaker 1: I would consider myself an agnostic. So that's fair. Also,
- 12:32Speaker 1: people have an interesting time because I'm also Jewish. But
- 12:34Speaker 1: how can you be a Jew and be an agnostic? Easy,
- 12:38Speaker 1: because it's too It's a cultural thing as well as
- 12:41Speaker 1: a religious thing.
- 12:42Speaker 2: There's no Christian culture. There's no Christian.
- 12:45Speaker 4: There is because my wife, who's an agnostic as well,
- 12:49Speaker 4: she is a She's a social Christian, meaning she celebrates
- 12:56Speaker 4: Easter and Christmas and those types of things. Okay, so
- 13:01Speaker 4: I mean, but yeah, it is different in the Jewish beliefs.
- 13:05Speaker 2: It is all right.
- 13:05Speaker 1: But yes, I'm an agnostic, not an atheist. Okay, moving on, Chris.
- 13:10Speaker 3: See, whatever happened to the necrophilia victimless crime that you
- 13:18Speaker 3: used to do around Halloween?
- 13:19Speaker 2: I don't remember hearing it. YEA a very long time.
- 13:23Speaker 2: Good question.
- 13:24Speaker 1: And by the way, every year around Halloween I would
- 13:26Speaker 1: do a segment necrophilia the victimless crime. Why, because you're
- 13:32Speaker 1: stopping a dead body. Disgusting as it is, So it's
- 13:36Speaker 1: not a human being, it is not. It's for example,
- 13:42Speaker 1: like stooping a car or putting your privates into a
- 13:46Speaker 1: k not hole in a tree. I used to do that,
- 13:48Speaker 1: but very concerned about splinters. So are you giving splinters
- 13:54Speaker 1: to the tree. Yes, so that's very funny. So what
- 13:57Speaker 1: ended up happening? And it was the victimless crime because
- 14:00Speaker 1: there's no victim there when you think about it in
- 14:03Speaker 1: terms of the recipient of the sex.
- 14:05Speaker 2: I'll tell you why. I no longer do it. They
- 14:08Speaker 2: made it a crime. It's no longer and he's not
- 14:12Speaker 2: a crime. No, no, is it desecration or no?
- 14:16Speaker 1: No, no, nope, nope, you could you could stoop a
- 14:20Speaker 1: dead body.
- 14:21Speaker 2: I mean, listen, I've been married for it's now a crime.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Thank you for it was somebody all right? By next question?
- 14:35Speaker 5: Oh, good morning, Oh now I really want to have
- 14:38Speaker 5: a fluffer nutter this morning, because you need fluff, fluf
- 14:42Speaker 5: fluff to make a fluffer nutter, marshmallow fluff and lats
- 14:46Speaker 5: of peanut butter. Hey, guys, have a wonderful wonderful, great,
- 14:51Speaker 5: great day.
- 14:53Speaker 4: That's because Cono talked about the other day, No, and
- 14:57Speaker 4: I thought she was so wonderful.
- 14:59Speaker 3: Crazy.
- 14:59Speaker 2: Let me ask, is that a crazy person that works
- 15:01Speaker 2: in porno films? Fluffer dutter? I don't know the answer
- 15:08Speaker 2: to that.
- 15:10Speaker 1: Fluffer No, Okay, one more question before the break.
- 15:15Speaker 6: So I was wanting to know from Bill Handle, when
- 15:18Speaker 6: you were a young boy coming to America, you went
- 15:21Speaker 6: to school with an industrial lunchbox. Everyone else had theme
- 15:25Speaker 6: or characters type lunchboxes. So, thinking back when you were
- 15:29Speaker 6: a young boy, which was the character of theme lunchbox
- 15:31Speaker 6: you wanted the most and wish your parents would have
- 15:34Speaker 6: bought for you.
- 15:35Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the story I used to share, coming to
- 15:38Speaker 1: the United States and not speaking English and coming from
- 15:41Speaker 1: a different culture. My dad was a Union electrician, and
- 15:45Speaker 1: you would take those industrial lunchboxes, you know with the
- 15:48Speaker 1: thermis in the top and that had the arc in it,
- 15:50Speaker 1: you know, And he would give me those and I
- 15:53Speaker 1: was hugely, hugely.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Embarrassed by it because I was just out of it.
- 15:57Speaker 1: And so I would take that to school and it
- 16:00Speaker 1: was just Oh, the kids made so much fun.
- 16:02Speaker 2: They thought it was a casket. No, it was Yeah,
- 16:04Speaker 2: but it was rough.
- 16:05Speaker 1: It was rough, and so I used to share that
- 16:07Speaker 1: lunch box story.
- 16:09Speaker 2: And that's a good question. What and all the other
- 16:11Speaker 2: kids had the character lunchbox? What Batman? When would wait?
- 16:16Speaker 2: What year was that? Nineteen fifty seven?
- 16:20Speaker 7: Maybe?
- 16:21Speaker 4: Okay, would it have been Howdy duty or something?
- 16:26Speaker 2: How do you duty?
- 16:26Speaker 1: It was a Davy Crockett was a big one. And
- 16:30Speaker 1: so the answer is which character. I am still in
- 16:33Speaker 1: therapy over that issue. I just wanted to let you
- 16:36Speaker 1: know that it's been a lot of years. My therapist
- 16:38Speaker 1: is still looking into that.
- 16:39Speaker 4: See you striking me as the type of person who
- 16:42Speaker 4: loved what was in the lunch box more than the
- 16:44Speaker 4: box that came in.
- 16:46Speaker 1: Knowing you know, you know, that's the other thing. And
- 16:48Speaker 1: I even shared this in years, But that's the other thing.
- 16:51Speaker 1: Is my dad, you know, this was he didn't know
- 16:55Speaker 1: from white bread. He lived in Europe, so it was
- 16:59Speaker 1: rye bread. And all the kids had, you know, sandwiches,
- 17:02Speaker 1: and they cut the crust off and yeah, they were wrapped, yeah,
- 17:06Speaker 1: and they would share. And what my dad used to
- 17:08Speaker 1: do is give me, give me a baloney sandwich on
- 17:13Speaker 1: two pieces of ride bread, one slice of baloney.
- 17:17Speaker 2: And during the end.
- 17:18Speaker 1: And we're talking hot, hot days here in southern California.
- 17:21Speaker 1: And I'll never forget, you know, opening the lunch box
- 17:24Speaker 1: watching these other kids eat those sandwiches, and I would
- 17:28Speaker 1: look at mine. I'd see, you know, the bread in
- 17:31Speaker 1: one corner and the other corner, and I would the
- 17:34Speaker 1: baloney had stuck to the side, and I would peel
- 17:37Speaker 1: it off and I'll put it between the bread.
- 17:40Speaker 2: That's why I'm in therapy. They didn't wrap it. It
- 17:43Speaker 2: was just for nothing.
- 17:46Speaker 1: My dad old school, they didn't have wax paper in Europe.
- 17:50Speaker 2: They didn't know from wax paper. So your mom in
- 17:53Speaker 2: the fifties or your dad in the fifties was making
- 17:55Speaker 2: your lunch. Yeah, my dad always made my lunch. Yeah, okay, no,
- 18:01Speaker 2: Hi Bill.
