- 0:02[SPEAKER_02]: Hi, I'm Connor Jones.
- 0:04[SPEAKER_02]: I'm Mike Atama-Sella and this is Culture Reap, a Denison Foreign Podcast where we navigate the constant stream of top stories and news, politics, sports, pop culture and this week geopolitical war.
- 0:15[SPEAKER_02]: There's so much happening in the world, Mike.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_02]: This is probably the biggest story we've had to tackle since we started this podcast last year.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, we've tackled some big things, but
- 0:24[SPEAKER_02]: all that war in the Middle East started with operation epic fury with Donald Trump ordering strikes and Iran.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_02]: So you want to just give us a little preview of what we're going to be talking about and who we're talking about it with?
- 0:35[SPEAKER_03]: Well, you pretty much already said it.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm just going to jump to our special guest today.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_03]: We're going to be talking about what's going on on an Iran Israel's part to play America's part to play.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_03]: But most importantly, our special guest
- 0:48[SPEAKER_03]: He's a cultural theologian and one of the foremost Christian voices on faith and global affairs, especially when it comes to Israel, Iran, radical Islam and all the parts to play there.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_03]: Dr. Denison is the founder of the ministry that we get to work for.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_03]: Denison Ministries and writes the daily article where he helps millions of people think biblically about the day's most urgent headlines.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_03]: He's traveled to Israel more times than we can count.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe more times than he can count.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_03]: studied Islam extensively and has spent decades analyzing the spiritual and geopolitical forces shaping the Middle East.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_03]: So he's the author of more than 30 books, including The War in Israel and Radical Islam what you need to know, both of which unpack the historical, theological, and cultural realities behind today's
- 1:33[SPEAKER_03]: conflict.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_03]: Dr. Denison holds a PhD in philosophy of religion and his top apologetics at the seminary level.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_03]: He also serves as the resident scholar for ethics at Baylor Scott and White, health and as a senior fellow with several other Christian organizations, simply put, when it comes to understanding what's happening in Israel, with Iran and the broader Islamic world through a biblical lens.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_03]: few people are better equipped.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_03]: So Dr. Denison, welcome to the show, sir.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_00]: Well, my dear, you're very kind.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you so much.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_00]: I'm happy to be on the show with you on any topic.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_00]: And especially, want to talk about this real, which I love.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_00]: And obviously, what's happening there, because it is of such enormous geopolitical significance.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm delighted to be with you.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_00]: I'm far from the topic, but I'm glad to have the conversation.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, sir.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we are so glad you're here.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_02]: Dr. Denison as you guys know we quote the daily article all the time on the show.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_02]: So we are just so grateful to have you here and dive into this topic with us.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, just as quick background before we dive into our conversation with Jim here, we're going to just hit a high level overview of everything that has happened in the last five to six days.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_02]: As you'll know on Saturday, that is when the United States and Israel both at the same time, simultaneously launched air strikes on Iran.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_02]: In that first wave of strikes, they managed to kill the Ayatola Ali Kamine, which was a huge deal.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_02]: Also took out 48 other Iranian leaders.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_02]: So,
- 2:54[SPEAKER_02]: They basically took out the top level of the regime there in power in Iran and have since continued to take out high-level targets.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_02]: The US and Israel together have dropped over 2,500 bombs and missiles on over 2,000 targets.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_02]: That is insane.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_02]: The US has also sunk over a dozen Navy vessels and right before we hop down here, we found that we had a submarine sink of Navy vessel of Iran's off the coast of Sri Lanka with a torpedo.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_02]: That is the first torpedo kill since World War II.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_02]: and it's taken really the first one since World War II.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_03]: That's what I saw right before we have been reported.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_03]: Wow, I saw the video, but I didn't realize it had been what 80 years since that's happened.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_03]: Wow.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you think about summer in Warfare, it's not super common.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_02]: I guess that.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, that's kind of the stage where we're at in the U.S. has really taken out the majority of their Navy, which opens up more protection for the straight of our moves and prevents them from being able to attack other targets, but the the war continues on Iran obviously is firing back.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_02]: They did not just sit silently in the night.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_02]: They have launched missiles all across the Middle East at the UAE.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, man.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_02]: Kuwait Qatar Iraq and especially Israel their Hezbollah proxy has also launched missiles at Cyprus at a UK base there They have drawn in a lot of the region and now European nations into the war by targeting all these places They also targeted Turkey this morning, which is a NATO ally So there's a lot to this it is really kind of just pouring out I don't even know how to explain where this war is going and it just hour by hour We learned more stuff sadly
- 4:26[SPEAKER_02]: there have been deaths across the region.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_02]: There have been over a thousand Iranians killed that include soldiers and civilians including 165 children in a school that was hit by a missile.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_02]: There have also been six United States military deaths, which is really sad and we're praying for those families.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_02]: There have been countless civilian deaths across the Middle East from Iranian missile hits as well.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_02]: Oil ships have been hit.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_02]: They're in the straight of four moves.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_02]: There is a lot happening here.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_02]: It's so much to dive into.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_02]: Trump himself has said that this war could go on for four to five weeks other places in the Middle East have said well that's a problem because we only have a week's worth of interceptor missiles left to intercept Iranian missiles and some of those Iranian missiles are and and really drones suicide drones are making it through their defenses already so this is a problem.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_02]: Secretary of War, Pete Hegset, has suggested that there will not be boots on the ground, but he is also not ruled it out, so that this could expand to a further ground operation if Trump so decides and if they see that best fit here on the homeland.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_02]: We have threats.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_02]: Over the weekend, you might have seen that in Austin, and downtown Austin, there was a shooting that a man went into a bar and killed three individuals, injured 14 people.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_02]: He was wearing a shirt that said property of allah, and underneath that was a shirt with the Iranian flag.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_02]: there are people who will rise up potentially here in America because they are angry about this operation epic fury.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_02]: U.S. bases have been put on high alert soldiers in the United States have been told to turn off tracking on their phones and not where their uniforms and public.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_02]: Politically for Trump, this has kind of been a tough sell.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_02]: It's not looking great in polls for this whole operation right now.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_02]: He ran on the promise as we talked about here, Mike and I've talked about many times.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_02]: He ran on the promise of no more interventionalism on the news wars.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_02]: know the wars no more forever wars in the Middle East and this is kind of maybe that could be a forever war but this is a big big situation, a big operation.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_02]: Axioc even stated this week that no president in the modern era has ordered more military strikes against as many countries as Donald Trump has.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_02]: He has attacked seven nations, three of which have never been targeted by the U.S. before.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_02]: Iran, Nigeria, and Venezuela, and he's authorized more air strikes in 2025 alone than President Biden did in his four-year term.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_02]: Additionally, we've seen the markets kind of struggle to understand how to react to this oil prices of...
- 6:37[SPEAKER_02]: gone up, markets have gone down, that never helps the economic position of administration in the midterms.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_02]: Multiple polls this week have also shown that nearly six in 10 Americans disapproved of the U.S. decision to take action in Iran in 60 percent.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_02]: Say they don't think Trump has a clear vision or plan of what to do with this whole operation.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_02]: a lot of mixed messaging from the Trump administration this week.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_02]: We've seen multiple people say different things.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_02]: It sounds like they need to really kind of land on a better, just messaging platform of what the objective is.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_02]: Here's the gist of what I've gathered from what Marco Rubio said, Pete Higgs at the said and what Trump himself has said.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_02]: Sounds like really the main operation here is to take out a regime and tear us leadership that were an existential threat to America.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_02]: They have started doing that already.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_02]: Also to destroy the Iranian regime's missile industry and
- 7:26[SPEAKER_02]: and basically open up the straight-of-war moves to oil trade, even while Iran is still there, ensure that the regime's terrorist proxies can no longer destabilize the region or attack or forces or our allies, especially Israel.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_02]: And to guarantee that Iran can never obtain a nuclear weapon.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_02]: And then lastly, it seems like really one of the big things here is to provide a catalyst for Iranians to revolt, to topple the regime there and their own country.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_02]: This is something that Trump said back in January that he was going to send help when protests were taking place in the streets of Iran and they were killing many, many thousands of protesters there.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_02]: So, this is the help, Israel and the U.S. have said, we're here, we're going to open up the doors for the Iranian people to take on the regime, right?
- 8:09[SPEAKER_02]: So, what are the next steps?
- 8:10[SPEAKER_02]: We don't know.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_02]: This is very fluid situation.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_02]: It is changing by the hour by the time we log off of this podcast.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_02]: things could look different.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_02]: You just don't know.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_02]: All that to say, we're so excited to dive into it a little bit more with Dr. Jim Dineson here.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_02]: And so, Mike, I'm going to toss it off to you for the first question.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_03]: Well, Jim, before I jump into that first question, was there anything on Conner's run down that you wanted to comment on?
- 8:31[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if I saw like a little head nod there or whatever.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_03]: No, well done.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's hard to put a list together, and that's what appeared at the time.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_00]: And I think Connor did a great job with that.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_00]: So, obviously he's been coached by you, Michael.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's right.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, thank you.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you for recognizing that noticing that Connor good job, bud.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_03]: No, I think I think the only additional context I would add would be, it's hard to get Americans on board with this simply because of what Trump ran on.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_03]: But also,
- 8:57[SPEAKER_03]: We've been getting four or five different messages from the administration.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_03]: They just need to have one big meeting and get on the same page because there are other geopolitical things that play.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_03]: There's the China angle as well.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_03]: There's the oil angle as well.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_03]: Like what they did with Venezuela and now what they're doing in Iran.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_03]: Like there are ways to sell this to the American people.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_03]: They're just not doing a very good job of it.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_03]: But when you read on what happened.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_03]: they were given the intelligence that Common A would be meeting a above ground on Saturday.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_03]: I think it was some information from Mossad and the CIA was actually able to double check that.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_03]: And so it seemed like, you know, it was just reading an access this morning.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_03]: This sort of once in a lifetime opportunity to get.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_03]: all of the regime's top guys above ground and vulnerable.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_03]: And so a decision had to be made to jump into this.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_03]: And I think maybe it was sooner, maybe it was later who knew.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_03]: But we are where we are.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_03]: And now, as believers here in America, we're just trying to process through what part we can play, how we can pray through this.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_03]: Okay so Jim, my first question for you is for our younger audience who may not be aware specifically of the history that led to this moment.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_03]: Could you give us a quick refresher on the history of Iran with the revolution in 1979 and then the attacks that they've been responsible for for over the last half century and what part did Kamine play in all of it and why is much of the world celebrating his death as a liberation?
- 10:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's a great question and a great foundational place to start.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, we could spend the rest of the time just discussing that.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_00]: So, I'd like to do this as briefly as I can.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_00]: So, you're referring to what's often called the Islamic Revolution of 1979.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_00]: Prior to that, under the Shaw and previous administrations, Iran had been fairly well placed in the line with the West, at least for a few generations relative to oil development, Western companies have been developing oil interests in Iran.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_00]: They've been a lot of military kind of alliance there against Iran.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_00]: the Russians against the Communists and the threat from the armed victims of the speak and all of that.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_00]: Well, in 1953, the CIA participated in an overthrow of a popularly elected ruler in Iran and bringing in the Shah, who was very despotic with his own people, the very autocratic and
- 11:12[SPEAKER_00]: very much operated as an autocrat over the centuries.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_00]: Well, one of the people that tried to marshal response to that was a person named Ruolo comedy.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_00]: He was a leading therapy.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_00]: He was exiled for a period of time.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_00]: He had been very impressed by the shot and all of that and he was kind of a personful minting revolution in exile.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_00]: Well, it all came to kind of a head, I guess, when the shot of Ellip Cancer, President Carter, permitted the shot to leave Iran to seek treatment, and this gave harmony and opportunity to marshal a rebellion.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_00]: A revolt against the shot against the west that led to the takeover in 1979, and the establishment of what they considered to be the Islamic Republic of Iran, which is a very theocratic.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_00]: She, I think we can get into that if you like, theoretically run sort of state.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_00]: And from that time to this, they've been what's been commonly considered to be the largest or the leading state sponsor of terrorism around the world.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_00]: They have an ideology I can try to do this briefly, which believes that their version of the Messiah, the body, as he's called, MAHD, I, the guided one, will return at the end of history to dominate the world for Islam.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_00]: before that can happen, however, Israel must be destroyed.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_00]: The West must be pushed out of the Middle East.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_00]: And so the support proxies that are attacking and terrorizing Israel, they support terrorism against the West.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_00]: But all of that is part of this apocalyptic sort of ideology, or worldview that drives what they do.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_00]: Well, after the death of comedy, all the comedy, who had been his, one of his lieutenants was elevated to separate leader and has carried on that fight.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_00]: From that time until he was killed this last Saturday.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_00]: So he rules us a teocratic kind of autocratic sort of leader.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_00]: He dominates, dominated the country.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_00]: He dominated the military.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_00]: He dominated their,
- 13:00[SPEAKER_00]: Supreme Council, the politics of the day, the elected president really was subservient to him, and so he was very much not just a figure head that he actual dictatorial leader of Iran, trying to lead this world view that would export their version of Islam around the world and prepare for the coming of their Messiah who would dominate the world for Islam.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_00]: So that's a short version is best I could try to describe the last several decades.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, thanks Jim, that's great.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_02]: Thanks, sir.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I was just thinking about on top of that.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_02]: One of the things that Trump really pitched to the American people is they've been attacking Americans for decades, too.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_02]: They have Either they have their proxies.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_02]: They're them and their proxies.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_02]: They attacked a basin bay route in the 80s.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_02]: They killed hundreds of industries.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_02]: And then the USS Cole was attacked as well.
- 13:43[SPEAKER_02]: I think in 2002, 2004.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, all of that adds up to kind of what Trump is saying they have been in an enemy of the United States for so long
- 13:53[SPEAKER_02]: and specifically, Common A has been an enemy, and even he had a bit of a personal vendetta against Common A.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_02]: He said, I got him before he got me this week.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_02]: Something that he felt Common A wanted to kill Trump himself.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_02]: So, yeah, there's a lot to that.
- 14:06[SPEAKER_02]: On top of everything you were saying about the Islamic ideology, Jim, I kind of want to dive into this a little bit more, because you have such a great understanding of how Islam thinks specifically, maybe the Iranian regime is a whole another like sect.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_02]: Do they think of Islam differently than much of the Islamic world?
- 14:20[SPEAKER_02]: And others the Shia, the Sunni, they think differently.
- 14:24[SPEAKER_02]: And a lot of the Iranian people don't even like the regime.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_02]: They don't maybe align with the way that they believe it.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_03]: Right, which is why there's been celebrations, right?
- 14:31[SPEAKER_03]: So there's actually there was mourning, but then for the most part, worldwide, you've seen demonstrations of celebration, right?
- 14:39[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, on top of that, that Iran's attacking other Muslim countries, so does Islam permit intro religious war.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_00]: And that's a massive issue, by the way.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_00]: Attacking the era of world is a massive geopolitical issue relative to how the Middle East is going to line on the other side of this conflict whenever that comes.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_00]: So the Muslim world is divided primarily in the Sunni and Shia.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_00]: There are some other branches as well, but those are kind of like Catholic
- 15:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, around 80 to 85% or Sunni about 15% or so are Shiite.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_00]: It goes back to the death of Prophet Muhammad in 632.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_00]: There were leaders that followed Muhammad all the way until the early part of the 20th century known as colleagues.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_00]: who were considered by the SUNY world to be the rightful leaders of the Muslim world of the colleagues.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_00]: The Shiites, the other minority, believed that Mohammed Sun and Law are Lee was the proper successor of Mohammed.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_00]: He was actually the fourth colleague.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_00]: Shiite means party of all Lee.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_00]: And so it goes back to where the leadership of Islam originated after the death of Muhammad since he didn't appoint a successor himself.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_00]: And so the Shiites are supposed to the Sunnis believe that the 12th E.M. the 12th, but they considered to be successors of Muhammad.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_00]: was occluded or guy or protected back in the 10th century, but is still alive and will return at the end of history as the Messiah to dominate the world.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_00]: Well, the cities don't believe that.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_00]: They disagree with the Shiites over that.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_00]: Most of them disagree with the Shiites over the need to destroy Israel to bring about the coming of the body.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_00]: Many of them have their own issues with Israel and Palestinians, but it's not necessarily over that same apocalypticism.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_00]: And so they see this minority part of Islam dragging the Muslim world into conflict.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_00]: And so many especially in leading that charge as it were.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_00]: And so that's why you're seeing a lot of rejoicing in the larger Muslim world because this, what they would consider to be a heretic.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_00]: was using this minority's view to kind of bring the larger Muslim world into conflict, but then in recent days, as Iran has been attacking Arab states, themselves, not just to proxies like the Houthis and Yemen, but themselves, they brought especially Saudi Arabia into a unified sort of alliance with Israel and the West against Iran.
- 16:58[SPEAKER_00]: Will if that alliance
- 17:03[SPEAKER_00]: in ways that could be significant for generations to come.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_00]: And so we're going to have to see, obviously, how all of that turns out, but in Iran itself, there's also something like 40 to 50% of the population are not practicing Muslims.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_00]: It was a very secular state prior to 1979.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_00]: That's part of what the revolution was supposed to correct.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_00]: The Persian Empire, and Iran is essentially Persia, has always been very progressive.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_00]: It was one of the major empires in world history.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_00]: The Persian people had been remarkable in their contributions to world history.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_00]: There are artistic contributions in intellectual contributions or scientific contributions very much in advanced society.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_00]: Persians and Arabs are not the same thing.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_00]: They're very different cultures, very different histories, over history, the Persian subdominated the Arabs at various times.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_00]: And so there's always been enmity between the Arabs and the Persians are now the Iranians.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_00]: And if this conflict, why does that divide?
- 18:00[SPEAKER_00]: This could be enormously significant for the future.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_03]: So, Jim, I just wanted to ask just from what you've been reading, what you've been seeing, maybe conversations you've been having to, like, what was the reason that you've been reading?
- 18:11[SPEAKER_03]: That Iran would respond by attacking all of its neighbors.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_03]: But again, what you're highlighting is that they have no issue with that, because Iran and the regime views those nations as heretics, because they have a different interpretation of Islam.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_03]: So they're not necessarily,
- 18:31[SPEAKER_00]: Right, their three parts, but yeah, excellent point, my Michael, from their point of view, they're basically three populations.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_00]: They're the true Muslims.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_00]: They're the incidentals, which are us, and they're the apostates, which are Muslims that are not true Muslims.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_00]: Well, there was a scholar named Said Kutab that back in the early part of the 20th century influenced a lot of the Muslim world, Sunni and Shiite both.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_00]: With the idea that it was only the first four, it's the rightly guided colleagues that were the pure Islam.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_00]: And now we need to return back to that and anything that doesn't do that is for radical or apostate.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_00]: But some have been law and belief that even though he's a suitee, he believed that the Saudi royal family was apostate because they weren't willing to be this puritanical sort of Islam.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_00]: So there is this idea that if you don't agree with my version of
- 19:16[SPEAKER_00]: And therefore, what the Crohn's says about not attacking Muslims doesn't apply, that in fact, when the Shiites attacked the Sunis, they're really not attacking true Muslims would be a way they could see this.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_00]: What they're really doing is attacking a U.S. basis Western bases in Arab lands, in the belief that because somebody like Oman or Saudi Arabia allows Western presence and Western military bases, they are themselves apostate.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_00]: They're now participating in this war against Islam by allowing Israel or the West to use them to attack Iran.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_00]: So they don't think they're attacking true Muslims, they think they're attacking apostates, that are part of a war against true Islam.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_00]: And because the Quran requires Muslims to defend Islam,
- 20:02[SPEAKER_00]: they think that they're actually obeying the Quran by defending Islam and advancing the time the body might reappear in attacking the apostates who were attacking true Islam.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_00]: Quite for us to understand it that way, but that's the ideology, by which a lot of this is being motivated.
- 20:20[SPEAKER_03]: It sounds like Iran is making some enemies of people that could have potentially helped them out a little bit.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_03]: I think they, it seems like they kind of overplayed their hand here.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_03]: And it seems like if they're targeting bases, you see all these hotels and the UAE getting hit and parking lots, they're being wildly inaccurate.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_03]: It seems like they're trying to control it.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, that's been true for a long time.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_00]: We saw this back in some earlier conflicts or any and military technology is very much behind what Israel and the United States had.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_00]: And their guided missiles are just not very guided.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_00]: And so a lot of the collateral damage is happening as a result of that.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_00]: But again, in their idea, if a man or the Saudis or Kuwait, Turkey are going to support the West, that makes everybody in Turkey.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_00]: It's everything else to do with it.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, complicit in this thing on some level.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, well, there's also just the theory to that I ran is while they're aiming for missiles and oil depots and Saudi Arabia and all that.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_02]: They're hitting strategic places.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_02]: They are also trying to foment fear among people by hitting big luxury hotels, by hitting international airport terminals.
- 21:18[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't know.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_02]: They also have these drones.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_02]: One of the things that have been been really noticed.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_02]: They've got these cheap drones.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_02]: They cost 20 to $30,000 out of these shots.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but we're sending all of our allies in the US are sending up to three four million dollar interceptor missiles to take out these cheap drones And so they are trying to just launch as many of those as they can to overwhelm the defensive Technology and to plea our stockbile That was just something that is very strategic on their part of what they're trying to do the problem is they don't have a very coordinated effort I know because so much of their leadership has been decapitated and so even Pete Higgs has said in the press conference this morning Their generals are gone and their successors are gone so they are just trying to
- 21:55[SPEAKER_02]: shoostring anything together that they can't.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_02]: Another question for you, Jim.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_02]: And I think this is a big one that a lot of people have been thinking about.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_02]: The younger generation, mechanized generation.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_02]: We honestly, we grew up with war on our TV every day.
- 22:12[SPEAKER_02]: I remember when Mom would have on the morning news and it was an updated in Iraq and updated in Afghanistan, every day for our entire childhood, all the way up through our college days.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it was 20 years.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_02]: of a prolonged war in the Middle East.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_02]: This is something that I think a lot of people have been very wary about, and I think that's understandable.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_02]: Do you think it's okay for us as Americans or even as Christians to feel cautious about further US military involvement in the region, and then beyond that?
- 22:36[SPEAKER_02]: There's been a lot of talking of recent years about Israel and its place in the Middle East and its place in the Bible, its place in the modern day biblical, there's dispensationalism debate in all of that as Christians and we think about the Middle East and the region and wars and all that are we biplically mandated to support Israel in a way that requires political or military alignment.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_02]: And is there a faithful or theological ground of weight to support Israel?
- 23:00[SPEAKER_02]: Well, also desiring to avoid another extended conflict that could cost more American lives.
- 23:05[SPEAKER_02]: It's a good question.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_02]: Then, tacit question.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_00]: Mike, I'm really impressed.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_00]: The Connor, you know.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_00]: It's been great.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_03]: I was actually the one that was supposed to ask that question.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_00]: Well, okay, yeah, there's not any way.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, go ahead.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_00]: Well, well done.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and I actually, you guys know this, but I mean, this is several hours of conversation.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, yes.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_00]: such a massive issue with so many different ways to look at this up.
- 23:29[SPEAKER_00]: I wrote a paper that turned into a book on the war in Israel back after the October 7 invasion, have all chapter, specifically devoted to Israel's place in prophetic history, and apocalyptic theologies, and all that go inside all of that to try to summarize that very very quickly.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_00]: One way of answering your question, as you know, a known as dispensationalism, is the belief that any promise made to the state of Israel in the Bible must be fulfilled by a literal state of Israel one day.
- 23:54[SPEAKER_00]: And so we're in this thinking, the founding of Israel in May 14, 1948, is a fulfillment of prophecy.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_00]: And God is now on the side of the state of Israel, which should be seen in the same way that you see Israel in Scripture.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_00]: And we therefore, if we're going to be blessed by God, need to be on the side of Israel as well.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_00]: I remember Jerry Falwell years ago saying God bless his nations of bless Israel.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_00]: And he judges nations that judge Israel.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_00]: And so by that reading, the answer to your question kind of would be, we should be on the side of this role, whatever it takes.
- 24:23[SPEAKER_00]: No matter what it costs.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because now we're on the right side of Apocalypse history.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_00]: On the right side of what God is doing in the world.
- 24:29[SPEAKER_00]: And that's a very popular belief.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_00]: America today and outside America as well.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_00]: That's not my personal position, but that's a very popular position, especially with evangelicals and more conservative Christians today.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_00]: There's an opposite view of that, which would say that the purpose of this role was fulfilled in the coming of Messiah.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_00]: And today Israel plays no larger, different geopolitical world than any other nation.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_00]: And so if America's going to do something relative to Israel, it should only be on geopolitical terms.
- 24:58[SPEAKER_00]: Can Request and Jersey nations don't have allies on the interests.
- 25:01[SPEAKER_00]: And so we should side with Israel, when it's at our interest to do so.
- 25:05[SPEAKER_00]: They're the only democracy in the Middle East, thereby far our best friend, from the military point of view, thereby far the dominant military in the Middle East, if we want oil stability, if we want economic stability,
- 25:17[SPEAKER_00]: If we want a counter to the Islamic extremism that hates the West, then we want to be friends with Israel.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_00]: And we want to work with Israel to the degree it is to our geopolitical interests to do so.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_00]: And then you're going to make a distinction between Zionism, the belief that Israel has right to exist as a people that the Jewish people deserve right to exist, and the leaders of Israel today.
- 25:38[SPEAKER_00]: There are those that would say just because I believe in the Jewish state, doesn't believe I have to agree with everything that Genyahu does or everything the current leadership of this real does.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_00]: And so there's this spectrum here, right?
- 25:49[SPEAKER_00]: From the one that would say Israel's no more relevant to this than any other country, all the way over to.
- 25:53[SPEAKER_00]: We have to do whatever Israel says in order to be blessed by God, most are someplace in the middle.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_00]: I myself don't think the creation of Israel in 1948 is a fulfillment of prophecy, but I do think God continues to use the Jewish
- 26:07[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not a replacement, theologian, the just things the church replaced is real, and now Israel has no role, but neither do I think that Israel is in the same redemptive posture it was before the Messiah.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_00]: Engelations 3 were told this, did the June or Greek slave or free, male, or female, were all labor-handced, deniers according to the covenant, but also believed God continues to use the Jewish people uniquely.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_00]: So, my own personal position would be that the Jews deserve a right to their homeland, the Holocaust taught us that they must be able to defend themselves.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think, I'm therefore obligated to support everything the Jewish government does, and by the way, having been to Israel 30 times, as you mentioned earlier, most of the Jewish people.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_00]: In Israel, don't believe that they need to support everything the government does.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_00]: They have a very healthy debate over what the government is and who netted y'all the news and his popularity and the lack thereof and all of that.
- 26:59[SPEAKER_00]: In Israel, itself, and so there's a little position here, is what I'm saying, that would say I can support the Jewish people without having to support everything that the leaders do.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_00]: So now, if I'm President Trump, I'm going to be making decisions based on what's in America's best interest to the degree that that kind of line with
- 27:18[SPEAKER_00]: Great answer.
- 27:18[SPEAKER_00]: A lot in that, but that's a that's a summary.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_02]: It's best I can it's a complicated issue.
- 27:22[SPEAKER_02]: It is one of the most complicated geopolitical issues of our time To know and it has been for thousands of years and it still is today.
- 27:28[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, that's a great succinct answer.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_03]: Well, yeah I mean, and it's easier to retreat into one corner to choose one side of the other to pick the loudest voices I think on many many issues if we would take a step back and recognize kind of the credence that maybe both arguments make
- 27:43[SPEAKER_03]: I do believe it's a very biblical argument to take the Old Testament and the New Testament, say they're both the inspired Word of God.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_03]: How do we combine all this?
- 27:51[SPEAKER_03]: How do we look at all the good things Israel's done?
- 27:53[SPEAKER_03]: But the bad things Israel's done and say, what's the balance here?
- 27:57[SPEAKER_03]: What's the process we should go through as believers?
- 27:59[SPEAKER_03]: as we pray for the state of Israel and for peace in the Middle East as a whole, and just this whole conflict, so Jim, thank you so much.
- 28:05[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, so another question here, Trump, he launched, you know, Operation Epic Fury without congressional authorization, or sustained public debate, which is kind of in contrast to when we went to war in 2003 in the Middle East, there was time taken to get the congressional approval.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_03]: It obviously was coming off of 9-11 and so it was different circumstances, but
- 28:24[SPEAKER_03]: The CNN poll that Connor mentioned earlier had 62% of respondents say Trump should get congressional approval for any further action, your opinion.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_03]: How far can Trump go without getting approval from Congress and where these strikes legal?
- 28:39[SPEAKER_03]: That's just a big debate right now.
- 28:41[SPEAKER_00]: It is a big debate right now and it's because the very question itself has never been fully defined.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_00]: The president is the commander in chief and yet Congress has the power to declare war and so in order and that was by the founders intent as we've talked about a lot is that written about a lot.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_00]: The founders understood not only that all men are created equal and endowed by the creator with an available rights to life delivered in the pursuit of happiness, but they also understood that we're falling.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_00]: and they've seen an England what happens with unaccountable personal authority.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_00]: And so they wanted neither the president nor congress nor the judiciary death unaccountable authority, so they created these checks and balances.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_00]: And so, as regards the specific question, on one extreme, the president can do nothing in military terms without congressional approval.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_00]: Well, if that's the case, how would you respond to an aggressor if it's going to take weeks and weeks to get congress on board?
- 29:30[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_00]: Wouldn't that be involved in your enemies?
- 29:33[SPEAKER_00]: on very significant levels.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_00]: If you could never have a military response without congressional approval.
- 29:38[SPEAKER_00]: On the other side of all of that, can you forever skirt the actual language around all of this relative to war itself by calling what everybody else calls a war a conflict or an armed aggression or some such as that?
- 29:52[SPEAKER_00]: There's really been no declared congressional war since World War II.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_00]: The anomalous neighborhood of Clarity War, Coral is never declared by Congress of War, even though they went on, obviously, for very, very long period of time.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_00]: I guess the pot was, it wouldn't extend as long as it did, anywhere there's a lot inside that.
- 30:08[SPEAKER_00]: So that's a massive debate that the scholars are having with the scholars, that the legal authorities are having with each other, as regards whether he could have or should have, sought approval as Mark Rubio is saying, we alert a congressional leaders.
- 30:22[SPEAKER_00]: prior to this has been the case.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_00]: But had we win it for congressional approval to launch a surprise attack to take out the leadership of Iran, obviously it wouldn't have been a surprise attack.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_00]: And they're just gonna be times when we have to do things in secret for the sake of America's best advantage, they obviously can't require congressional approval first.
- 30:45[SPEAKER_00]: And so there's this massive balance.
- 30:46[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm seeing various scholars, Sarah, Israel, and others are debating this very point right now on a level I wouldn't have expertise to work.
- 30:54[SPEAKER_00]: I think it boils down to a belief that as long as this conflict does not go past a certain period of time.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_00]: And doesn't exceed a certain period of scope and scale, it can be seen more as a conflict than as a war.
- 31:05[SPEAKER_00]: And what's out there for require congressional approval on the degree it would if it continues on past a certain red line and even that's being debated right now.
- 31:13[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, if we're if this thing lasts six months, you know, there's just a lot of different discussion.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_03]: And I think I think I think the debate will only get more intense, specifically if we start seeing more American soldiers die, no doubt.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_03]: I think that is going to be the match that lights the powder keg.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_00]: to this point, Mike, it's pretty partisan.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_00]: We're seeing Democrats reacting to a Republican president pretty much so same.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_00]: We saw Republicans reacting to a Democratic president when they've been other military actions that Republicans wanted there to be a word declaration for that sort of thing.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_00]: But if American deaths start escalating.
- 31:49[SPEAKER_00]: If boots get on the ground, if Americans stop being attacked, by terrorists' proxies here, by sleeper cells here, in a way that makes Americans feel themselves endangered by this, I think they're going to see Congress reacting in a much more probably advanced way even than now.
- 32:06[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I even saw yesterday Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri, who is pretty right wing and he's a Trump ally, he Yeah, he started to show he's he's concerned he came out of a I guess a briefing that they gave to the Senate staff and all of that and they They basically said there's potential for boots on the ground is what came out of this meeting and that made Josh Hawley
- 32:27[SPEAKER_02]: And I think other Republicans and it starts to say, okay, hold on, we need to wrangle this in before this gets out of hand and we start committing to another Iraq war style situation here.
- 32:35[SPEAKER_02]: You're right.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_02]: There's a difference between a conflict and a war, but you rarely hear the term, oh, the Iran conflict of 2000 and 20.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_02]: That's correct.
- 32:43[SPEAKER_02]: It's the Vietnam police action you know right literally that turn into a eight-year War I bet just unreal how this can really span out over time in over different presidents as well So yes, we'll just have to see what happens.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_02]: There's gonna be lots of debate about this in fact
- 33:00[SPEAKER_02]: your son Ryan to send Dr. Ryan to send wrote a great article yesterday on Tuesday on his focus newsletter.
- 33:06[SPEAKER_02]: You can go find that at densonform.org.
- 33:07[SPEAKER_02]: We will also link it in the show notes really breaking down some of the the legal ease of everything that goes into this and what the constitution says about war powers resolution and everything.
- 33:17[SPEAKER_02]: I do think Congress is set to vote this.
- 33:20[SPEAKER_02]: afternoon we were going to was I think this afternoon they're having their first war powers resolution vote if they get 51 congressional members to say yes to that and moves on to the Senate so this could turn into something.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_00]: It could.
- 33:34[SPEAKER_00]: It's possible.
- 33:34[SPEAKER_00]: And then, obviously, as you mentioned earlier, in our conversation, the polls at this point, you know, or if I'm in the White House something, I'm going to be watching, with perhaps even greater attention.
- 33:44[SPEAKER_00]: It's always difficult to initiate a war that doesn't have an obvious existential purpose for those that are conducting the war.
- 33:51[SPEAKER_00]: An award of initiative on that level to try to preempt
- 33:55[SPEAKER_00]: what you believe could be happening to you if you don't do this is always a more difficult thing to explain whatever the conflict happens to be and we were attacked at Pearl Harbor obviously and Germany did third war on us after we did third war on Japan and besides but this isn't that.
- 34:11[SPEAKER_00]: And so even though I think there are some very existential reasons why the Iranian leadership is and was a threat not only to Israel but to NATO and to the West for some reasons we've talked about, I wasn't as clear to Americans that we needed to be in this space.
- 34:28[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, exactly right.
- 34:29[SPEAKER_02]: And to your point, one thing that Mark Rubio has said this week is, well, if we had waited for Iran to attack us first, then everybody would be mad at the US military exact government decision makers.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_02]: Like, if there was a Pearl Harbor style attack from Iran, then it looks bad on the government that they didn't take the action beforehand.
- 34:44[SPEAKER_03]: So there is an element to this where oddly enough, even though people don't want to see this play out,
- 34:50[SPEAKER_03]: I think we'll know a lot more after another week, after another couple weeks, you know, it's just been such a barrage to try to take out Iran's defenses and, you know, and then are we doing a regime change or we not, you know, whatever it might be.
- 35:03[SPEAKER_03]: I just think there is an element if we have to let this play out and this could be viewed as one of Trump's greatest wins from his presidency.
- 35:12[SPEAKER_03]: or it could be viewed as an absolute catastrophe and it could mark his presidency forever.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_03]: So I mean, we'll just have to see how how it plays out.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, so Connor, you have one more question for him.
- 35:25[SPEAKER_02]: I do.
- 35:25[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, let's kind of, you know, put a bow on this whole thing and talk about how believers should respond.
- 35:31[SPEAKER_02]: So this is probably, honestly, the biggest story we've talked about, like I said earlier, since we started the culture, we've talked through some pretty heavy
- 35:41[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, this is going to be in the history books for a long time to come, and so there's a lot of weight to this.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_02]: There's a lot of weight to just life and death and loss of property all across the Middle East.
- 35:51[SPEAKER_02]: There are people in America who have sons and daughters and moms and dads overseas serving now in a place of more danger and they are nervous and they're worried.
- 36:00[SPEAKER_02]: And so, as Americans, we are 6,000 miles away, most of us, and we're seeing this from afar.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_02]: But how can we as believers continue to think about this and pray about the situation that seems far away across the world, but is also somewhat close to home, because we have so many of our fellow Americans over there.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_02]: We also have so many fellow Christians in the region, and especially in our land, there's the underground Christian church that are many Christians, right?
- 36:24[SPEAKER_02]: What gym can we be doing as believers to respond?
- 36:27[SPEAKER_02]: How can we be praying and thinking about the situation?
- 36:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, thank you for that's a great last question.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_00]: We want to predict quickly, obviously.
- 36:33[SPEAKER_00]: And so the first thing we're submitting to tells us to pray for our leaders.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_00]: And so we certainly want to be praying for our president, for our military leaders, for all of those that are involved in the leadership of this conflict right now.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_00]: So those in Congress have wisdom as well.
- 36:45[SPEAKER_00]: For there to be absolute wisdom and direction as regards the best way to proceed.
- 36:49[SPEAKER_00]: As we move forward into this very difficult time.
- 36:52[SPEAKER_00]: Then on the second level, we want to be praying for God to protect the innocence for their, and that's Iranians as well as those in Israel and those around the world.
- 37:00[SPEAKER_00]: We know that God is on the side of the innocent and the suffering and we want to be praying for God to protect them for God to protect our soldiers and our troops that are at harm's way.
- 37:09[SPEAKER_00]: And for any innocent who are at harm's way, just more a theory will come to bear fear as we think about trying to protect the innocence in every way that we possibly can.
- 37:16[SPEAKER_00]: Third, I think we ought to be praying, and this is, I think I've been writing about all we can the daily article ought to be praying passionately for spiritual awakening in the Muslim world.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_00]: That awakening has been going on for decades now.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_00]: My dear friend Tom Doyle, who's a missionary in the Middle East, would tell you that radical Islam is Satan's response to the spiritual awakening in the Middle East.
- 37:35[SPEAKER_00]: that as so many Muslims are seeing visions and dreams of Jesus and turning to Christic, unprecedented numbers that that's no coincidence that 1979 in the Iranian Revolution and the rise of Jepadism is at that same period of time as Satan wants us to fear Muslims and hate Muslims.
- 37:52[SPEAKER_00]: When the Lord wants us to pray for Muslims and to love Muslims at home,
- 37:56[SPEAKER_00]: as well as overseas, during Ramadan and Rhin Ramadan right now.
- 38:00[SPEAKER_00]: This is especially a time for us to pray for our Muslim friends.
- 38:03[SPEAKER_00]: For God to help us build bridges to Muslims and our local communities, and to be praying for Muslims across the world to turn to Christ.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_00]: This is ultimately a spiritual conflict, as we've been saying.
- 38:14[SPEAKER_00]: It's not motivated because Iran wants to conquer land, like Hitler wanted to conquer lander,
- 38:22[SPEAKER_00]: This is an ideological battle, driven by an apocalyptic theology, so it's ultimately a spiritual battle.
- 38:29[SPEAKER_00]: And by praying, we're on the front lines.
- 38:32[SPEAKER_00]: By praying for regime change on a spiritual level, as well as a geopolitical level, by praying for awakening in the Muslim world.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_00]: We're also praying for the pathway that we're most in this conflict.
- 38:44[SPEAKER_00]: in the most permanent way as well.
- 38:46[SPEAKER_00]: So all of that goes together as we pray for our leaders, as we pray for our soldiers and innocent involved, and as we pray ultimately for spiritual awakening to continue in the most liberal world.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think that's great.
- 38:56[SPEAKER_02]: Those are fantastic prayer points.
- 38:58[SPEAKER_02]: And honestly, Jim, it would be amazing if you would help us here and just close us out in a prayer for the region for this conflict.
- 39:05[SPEAKER_02]: But before we do that, just want to say again, thank you for joining us and sharing your thoughts and experiences.

- 39:29[SPEAKER_02]: Over the next coming weeks and months, as it drags on, but yeah, Jim, would you be willing to close this out in prayer?

- 39:38[SPEAKER_00]: Father God, we thank you that you are the king of kings and the Lord of Lords, and nothing surprises you Father, all is in your hand.
- 39:43[SPEAKER_00]: You see the future better than we see the presence.
- 39:45[SPEAKER_00]: So we're praying, Father, first of all, that you would be glorified in this, that you would somehow advance your kingdom through this conflict, that you would use this in ways that most draw us to yourself.
- 39:55[SPEAKER_00]: We pray for our leaders, Father, that you would give them wisdom, direction, guidance, counsel, help them to turn to you, help them to trust in you.
- 40:02[SPEAKER_00]: I pray for spiritual authorities in their lives to be used to be influential, so that our Congress, people in our White House officials, and those leading the military, Father, that they could be led by your Holy Spirit in ways that could advance your kingdom and the common good.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_00]: Father, I pray for our soldiers.

- 40:27[SPEAKER_00]: Father, I pray for a spiritual regime change.
- 40:30[SPEAKER_00]: In Iran, I pray for a spiritual awakening there, Lord, among that vast population that are atheistic or agnostic or secularists, they would turn to you.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_00]: I pray for Shiites to turn to you.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_00]: I pray for those who are waiting for the body to understand that Messiah has already come.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_00]: And then Jesus, ESA, is now ready to forgive all sin and offer secure salvation and paradise with you, Father.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_00]: They're just moving their hearts and lives in that way.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_00]: Marshall, I online e-movement of intercessors from around the Christian world.
- 41:00[SPEAKER_00]: Father, I pray for the Iranian shirts that you would bless them and protect them and it bolden them in this season, this unprecedented season for them.
- 41:08[SPEAKER_00]: I pray God that you would use them as you use the apostles of boldness, and boldly,
- 41:12[SPEAKER_00]: for your word and for your truth and ways that can speak the truth and love.
- 41:16[SPEAKER_00]: So, while we commit all of this to you, we pray our conversation today, will help us as believers perhaps to understand the conflict better, but most of all, to be motivated to pray in ways that could advance your kingdom where we live and around the world.
- 41:30[SPEAKER_00]: All of this will make us act prayer in the name of Jesus our Lord.
