- 0:00Speaker 1: Set up, Bruce said on the Illheart radio app to
- 0:02Speaker 1: do w o R to hear Mark live. Set another
- 0:06Speaker 1: for Mark's podcast to hear him anytime now, back to
- 0:10Speaker 1: Mark Simone on wo R. Well, Bruce Blakeman the best
- 0:16Speaker 1: county executive in America. That's basically, it's being a governor
- 0:20Speaker 1: of a county. That's what it is, and it's a
- 0:22Speaker 1: phenomenal governor. He should be the governor in November. He
- 0:25Speaker 1: should vote for him in November. He'd be excellent as
- 0:28Speaker 1: our governor in New York State. But he's on the
- 0:31Speaker 1: line now, Bruce Blakeman, how you doing doing good?
- 0:35Speaker 2: Mark? It's an honor to be on the radio again
- 0:37Speaker 2: with you. You're a good friend and I really appreciate it.
- 0:41Speaker 2: You took the time out to come to my inauguration.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Yeah, that was quite an inauguration. A lot of a
- 0:46Speaker 1: lot of people there and you got a standing ovation.
- 0:48Speaker 1: It was a powerful speech. And tell us about Nasau County.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Give us an update. How does it look right now?
- 0:56Speaker 2: Yeah, so basically, we we've had all our trucks out
- 1:01Speaker 2: twenty four hours pretty much because of the frigid weather
- 1:07Speaker 2: before this storm and continuing on this week. It has
- 1:10Speaker 2: made it a little more problematic. We cleared all the
- 1:13Speaker 2: roads yesterday and we went through them again today. They're
- 1:19Speaker 2: all clear. But I do want to stress that because
- 1:22Speaker 2: of the frigid weather, the salt doesn't work as well
- 1:25Speaker 2: as it would if it was above twenty degrees. Right
- 1:28Speaker 2: now we're in the teens. We've been in signal digits,
- 1:32Speaker 2: so for the rest of the week, it's going to
- 1:34Speaker 2: be very frigid and the salt won't work as well
- 1:37Speaker 2: as it would if it got a little warmer. So
- 1:40Speaker 2: it's going to take a while. Everybody's got to go
- 1:43Speaker 2: a little slower. Plan ahead, take your time and realize
- 1:47Speaker 2: that there could be black ice on the roadways and
- 1:50Speaker 2: on the sidewalks. Just take it easy. And by the way,
- 1:53Speaker 2: we've had three fatalities from shoveling this weekend. And look,
- 1:58Speaker 2: if you're not if you're not young, don't do it.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Either have a neighbor help you or pay somebody to
- 2:06Speaker 2: do it. But if you're not in shape to shovel,
- 2:09Speaker 2: don't do it. Because this is very heavy snow, because
- 2:12Speaker 2: we also got on top of the snow fleet and
- 2:15Speaker 2: frozen rains, so it's probably three to four times as
- 2:19Speaker 2: heavy as it would be if it was just snow.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Wow. Hey, so I didn't realize the salt doesn't work
- 2:24Speaker 1: at that kind of a low temperature. So what do
- 2:26Speaker 1: you do? You sand instead?
- 2:28Speaker 2: No, No, it works, but not as well. The colder
- 2:31Speaker 2: it gets, the less it works. So a typical storm
- 2:35Speaker 2: mark is followed by warmer weather. That's just what meteorologists
- 2:40Speaker 2: have told us. This was a very unique storm because
- 2:44Speaker 2: of the storm came in through Canada and it didn't
- 2:49Speaker 2: it didn't go south first, it was on a different
- 2:53Speaker 2: a different windscreen. So basically we got just frigid, cold
- 2:58Speaker 2: air from Canada that came in and it wasn't followed
- 3:01Speaker 2: by warmer weather. Actually, it's going to get colder. It's
- 3:04Speaker 2: going to get the single digits. So the salt works
- 3:09Speaker 2: best when it's over twenty degrees. It has diminishing returns
- 3:13Speaker 2: as it gets colder, so when it's in the teens,
- 3:16Speaker 2: it's less effective. When it's single digits, it's less effective.
- 3:20Speaker 2: They'll resulting, but again it's not going to have the
- 3:24Speaker 2: same effect it would usually have, which makes the pavement
- 3:28Speaker 2: dry and makes it much safer.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Well, we're talking with Bruce Blakeman, Best County executive in America. Now,
- 3:33Speaker 1: what else in Nassau County Schools are open or will open.
- 3:37Speaker 2: No schools are closed, but we anticipate that they'll be
- 3:40Speaker 2: open tomorrow. But that's up to each school district to
- 3:43Speaker 2: make a determination as to whether or not it's safe
- 3:46Speaker 2: to open their schools. Our buses are back on schedule. However,
- 3:51Speaker 2: they're running a little late, about fifteen minutes behind because
- 3:55Speaker 2: of the snow and the ice, and the Long Island
- 4:00Speaker 2: Road is on a weekend schedule, so rather than have
- 4:04Speaker 2: a train like every fifteen or twenty minutes or thirty minutes,
- 4:08Speaker 2: depending on where your station's at, it'll probably be every
- 4:11Speaker 2: train a train every hour, So it'll be a weekend schedule.
- 4:16Speaker 2: Plan ahead. And our warming centers are still in use.
- 4:20Speaker 2: We've got about forty people in them right now. We're
- 4:22Speaker 2: feeding them hot meals, We're giving them a safe and
- 4:25Speaker 2: clean environment and a warm environment. So if anybody has
- 4:29Speaker 2: any questions, go to Nassau County and White dot gov.
- 4:33Speaker 2: We have all the information up there should you need
- 4:35Speaker 2: any additional services. Our power outages or down mark But
- 4:40Speaker 2: we do think that there's going to be an increase
- 4:42Speaker 2: because as the branches form more and more ice. They
- 4:46Speaker 2: get heavier, they break, they fall on the power lines,
- 4:50Speaker 2: so we're anticipating that. And finally, pay attention to the
- 4:55Speaker 2: pipes in your house and your business. It's going to
- 4:58Speaker 2: get very, very cold. Make sure they're in that the
- 5:01Speaker 2: heat is on in your basement and areas where it
- 5:05Speaker 2: could get very cold, because we don't want pipes to burst.
- 5:08Speaker 2: That creates real problems for our businesses and homeowners.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, and Bruce Blakeman is running for governor and
- 5:15Speaker 1: you should support him. And if you want to help,
- 5:16Speaker 1: donate or work on the campaign, go to Blakemanfronewyork dot com.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Blakemanfronewyork dot com. Kathy Hokel have been yelling and screaming
- 5:26Speaker 1: about ICE. Now, as accounting executive, you must have had
- 5:29Speaker 1: a deal with ICE, right, I have.
- 5:31Speaker 2: The most comprehensive agreement with ICE in the United States.
- 5:34Speaker 2: As a matter of fact, both my Sheriff's department my
- 5:37Speaker 2: police department are working extensively with ICE. You know, Mark.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Just last month we removed forty six illegal migrants with
- 5:47Speaker 2: criminal records. Twenty seven of them were engaged in gang activity.
- 5:52Speaker 2: So I don't know what Kathy Hochel's doing. She's spending
- 5:54Speaker 2: billions and billions of dollars on illegal migrants who've been
- 5:58Speaker 2: here for fifteen minutes. They haven't earned this thing. They're
- 6:00Speaker 2: getting free housing, free transportation, free food, free cell phone,
- 6:04Speaker 2: and now they're going to get free childcare. I mean,
- 6:07Speaker 2: it's just wrongheaded. It's a burden to the taxpayers. If
- 6:13Speaker 2: you want to make New York more affordable, you got
- 6:16Speaker 2: to cut the taxes, because our taxes are the highest
- 6:20Speaker 2: in the nation. Now she's spending them on a legal migrants.
- 6:23Speaker 2: We're working together with ICE. She's fighting against ICE. I
- 6:27Speaker 2: want to make our communities safer. She's pro criminal cash
- 6:30Speaker 2: list bail, fighting with ICE, raise the age. She's never
- 6:33Speaker 2: met a criminal she didn't like.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Ye Hey, Florida has a bigger population than we do.
- 6:39Speaker 1: It's a bigger state than New York. Believe in and
- 6:41Speaker 1: our budget is double that of Florida. In New York State,
- 6:44Speaker 1: why is that?
- 6:46Speaker 2: Because it's out of control. We've had one party rule
- 6:49Speaker 2: with the State Assembly, the State Senate, and the Governor's
- 6:54Speaker 2: office all held by Democrats, all far left leaning. They
- 6:58Speaker 2: enact policies that don't work for the hard working families,
- 7:03Speaker 2: of New York State. They make it more expensive to
- 7:06Speaker 2: live here. They chase businesses out of the state by
- 7:09Speaker 2: over taxation, over regulation. I want to create job prosperity.
- 7:13Speaker 2: I want people to get good jobs with high wages
- 7:17Speaker 2: and high benefits. That's how you make it more affordable.
- 7:20Speaker 2: Put more money in people's pockets. Basically, Kathy Hockel, all
- 7:24Speaker 2: she's doing is taking money out of everybody else's pockets.
- 7:27Speaker 2: And you know how I knew it was so cold
- 7:29Speaker 2: out Mark, Kathy Hockel had her hand in her own
- 7:32Speaker 2: pockets this week.
- 7:34Speaker 1: Yeah. So she's got a lot of money. I think
- 7:38Speaker 1: she's raised about thirty two million. But she seems quite
- 7:40Speaker 1: worried about you. She's all over the place trying to
- 7:43Speaker 1: be a very left wing kooka right wing koot. So
- 7:47Speaker 1: don't think she has much chance in a debate against you,
- 7:49Speaker 1: am I right?
- 7:51Speaker 2: Well, I'm looking forward to it. I would debate her
- 7:53Speaker 2: every week if she would do it. She runs away
- 7:56Speaker 2: from her record, I'm going to run on my record.
- 7:59Speaker 2: I've got the safety County America. I haven't raised taxes
- 8:03Speaker 2: one penny in four years. People are genuinely happy here.
- 8:07Speaker 2: We have the lowest poverty rate in the state. The
- 8:10Speaker 2: poverty rate in New York State is fifteen percent. It's
- 8:13Speaker 2: three times what ours is in Nassau County. You know
- 8:16Speaker 2: that's not right. I want to give these people who
- 8:18Speaker 2: are living under the poverty level the ability to make
- 8:21Speaker 2: more money and to be able to have a better
- 8:24Speaker 2: life for their families. And people aren't happy here in
- 8:27Speaker 2: New York. They're miserable. Under Kathy Hochel, I want to
- 8:30Speaker 2: make them happy again by putting New Yorkers first and
- 8:33Speaker 2: having a governor that actually cares about their families.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Yeah. Hey, let's get back to ICE for a second.
- 8:38Speaker 1: You've had ICE all over Nassau County operating and very smoothly,
- 8:42Speaker 1: no problem. And again, how do you do that just
- 8:44Speaker 1: by cooperating?
- 8:46Speaker 2: Yeah, we have the most comprehensive agreement with ICE, the
- 8:49Speaker 2: dedicated fifty jail cells to ICE with our sheriff's department.
- 8:54Speaker 2: We have ten detectives in our police department that are
- 8:57Speaker 2: cross designated with ICE to assist ICE. It's worked incredibly. Well,
- 9:02Speaker 2: you got a minute, Can I tell you christ story?
- 9:04Speaker 1: Yeah? This all sounds pretty logical.
- 9:07Speaker 2: Okay, So let me tell you a story. Last month,
- 9:10Speaker 2: we had a larceny here in Nassau County. Through good
- 9:14Speaker 2: police work, we put out bulletins not only the federal,
- 9:17Speaker 2: state and local law enforcement partners, but international of a
- 9:21Speaker 2: guy who he robbed a jewelry store, took a twelve
- 9:26Speaker 2: thousand dollars diamond bracelet. And basically what we did was
- 9:31Speaker 2: we put out this alert. The UK Scotland yard recognized
- 9:35Speaker 2: this guy. They had an international warrant out for his arrest,
- 9:40Speaker 2: as did other countries. The guy was Romanian, he had
- 9:44Speaker 2: an Irish passport. He was in the country illegally. He
- 9:48Speaker 2: came through Mexico, up through Arizona and made his way
- 9:51Speaker 2: to New York. With good police work, our Nassau County
- 9:54Speaker 2: Police Department arrested him and under Kathy Hopeless Hochel's castless bail,
- 10:02Speaker 2: we would have had to release him back into the public,
- 10:05Speaker 2: wouldn't spend one day in jail. But we had ice
- 10:09Speaker 2: pick them up, pick him up and get him out
- 10:11Speaker 2: of our out of our stake, get him out of
- 10:13Speaker 2: the country and make us safe. But here's the crazy thing.
- 10:18Speaker 2: He had a New York State valid driver's license. What
- 10:21Speaker 2: how the heck did that happen? If they had done
- 10:24Speaker 2: a background check or finninger printed this guy. They would
- 10:28Speaker 2: have found out that he had warrants out in countries
- 10:30Speaker 2: all over the world. He was part of an international
- 10:33Speaker 2: criminal theft ring. And that's how crazy we are. We're
- 10:37Speaker 2: giving we're giving out driver's license to legal migrants who
- 10:41Speaker 2: are here. They're here illegally and they have a criminal record,
- 10:44Speaker 2: and we're giving them a driver's license. Just insane.
- 10:48Speaker 1: Well, now this is horrifying a lot of people and say, well,
- 10:51Speaker 1: what can we do about this? Well, I would say
- 10:52Speaker 1: vote for Bruce Blakeman for governor in November and bring
- 10:55Speaker 1: this kind of common sense good government to what's the
- 10:59Speaker 1: Websiteaman from New York dot com Right.
- 11:02Speaker 2: Yes, blakemanfrom New York dot com, please visit my website.
- 11:06Speaker 2: We'd love to have your support. We want to make
- 11:09Speaker 2: New Yorkers happy again by instituting common sense principles, the
- 11:14Speaker 2: same values that we grew up with that our parents,
- 11:17Speaker 2: grandparents and great grandparents taught us.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Well, Bruce Blakeman, I hope you'll win this from on November.
- 11:21Speaker 1: You'd be a great governor and everybody go to Blakemanfromnewyork
- 11:25Speaker 1: dot com. Donate to volunteer whatever you can do to
- 11:28Speaker 1: help well. Keep up the good work in Nasau County.
- 11:31Speaker 1: We'll talk again soon.
- 11:32Speaker 2: It's always a pleasure. Mark God bless you, stay warm,
- 11:35Speaker 2: stay safe, all.
- 11:36Speaker 1: Right, thanks for being with us. Take care. That's Bruce Blakeman,
- 11:40Speaker 1: County executive. You're basically the governor. You're the governor of
- 11:44Speaker 1: the county. And that's the good thing. He's got experience
- 11:49Speaker 1: as a governor, and in Nasau County, safest county in
- 11:52Speaker 1: America right now. And that stuff about ice makes so
- 11:54Speaker 1: much sense. It's so easy to do. And you've never
- 11:57Speaker 1: heard about a problem with ice in the Nassau County.
- 11:59Speaker 1: Just operate, work with them, help them. It gets done easily, calmly, safely. Hey.
- 12:05Speaker 1: Coming up at noon today, Buck Sexton and Clay Travis
- 12:09Speaker 1: and then the most listened to radio show in America
- 12:12Speaker 1: Sean Hannity at three. You got Jesse Kelly at six o'clock.
- 12:17Speaker 1: And we now have Jimmy Fayla every night nine to midnight.
- 12:20Speaker 1: It's a great show. I mean, it's an interesting informative
- 12:23Speaker 1: it's also very funny. President Trump has become a big
- 12:27Speaker 1: Jimmy Fayla fan. He's been listening and watching and tweeting
- 12:30Speaker 1: out about the show, but listen to it tonight at
- 12:33Speaker 1: nine on seven to ten wor
