- 0:12genuine. Issues.
- 0:13Brought to you by the hypnotherapist, demanded by
- 0:16celebrities, CEOs and even royalty, Adam Cox.
- 0:20These recordings took place live from Evans Clinic in London's
- 0:24world famous Harley Street, so get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:39Adam here, and you're about to listen to a hypnosis session all
- 0:44about recovering after a breakdown.
- 0:47And I was working with a client that had been hospitalized for
- 0:52mental health issues, specifically relating to
- 0:56something called psychosis, where you start to not be able
- 1:00to differentiate between reality and what your perception is.
- 1:05And this particular client had gone through a period of making
- 1:11certain decisions that were built on trusting certain people
- 1:15that maybe they shouldn't, trying certain things that in
- 1:18hindsight they wouldn't. And as a result of that, it LED
- 1:21them down a path where they had certain choices taken away from
- 1:26them. They were hospitalized, had to
- 1:28spend time in certain places, and couldn't access some of the
- 1:33people that they love for a period of time.
- 1:36Now they were out of that situation.
- 1:38I don't work with people currently experiencing
- 1:42psychosis, but this client clearly wasn't in that place
- 1:46anymore. But they had had a breakdown.
- 1:49They had had what was diagnosed as psychosis for a period of
- 1:53time. The issue was no longer the
- 1:56psychosis. It was feelings of shame,
- 1:58feelings of guilt, feelings of hopelessness, and a lot of
- 2:02regret from those decisions. And that's very understandable
- 2:06because when life takes you on a certain path, if that's
- 2:10distressing and traumatic and you lose certain things, that's
- 2:14valuable for you. It's natural to kind of feel the
- 2:18weight of those emotions, but that doesn't necessarily serve
- 2:22you going forward. There is a need sometimes to
- 2:26accept what has happened has happened and then to build from
- 2:31that. And sometimes it's helpful to
- 2:34think of things like a forest fire.
- 2:37I'm in the UK. One of the ironically best
- 2:40things to have happened to London was the Great Fire of
- 2:43London. London was a dirty city, full of
- 2:46rats and full of poor quality buildings and and very, very
- 2:51dangerous alleys. Now, nobody wanted the Great
- 2:55Fire of London. People died, there was lots of
- 2:58damage, but the aftermath of that was a new city could be
- 3:04built. And I think forest fires and and
- 3:07kind of destructive things that are then followed by something
- 3:12powerful and positive can be a really helpful metaphor for
- 3:17going through a breakdown. Because if the breakdown enables
- 3:21a reset, a re evaluation of life's priorities and what's
- 3:26valuable, and you can extract all of the wisdom from the past,
- 3:30it can actually be a platform to build something better than ever
- 3:34before. And that's certainly a more
- 3:37useful narrative than the narrative that most people give
- 3:41some kind of breakdown and that is that they are broken.
- 3:44That if they've broken down, they are worth less than they
- 3:47were before. And that's not an empowering
- 3:49narrative. So this is a session all about
- 3:52hope, wisdom, discernment and optimism.
- 3:57So if you've experienced a breakdown, if you've experienced
- 4:01a really tough time and you've got to a very low place, you
- 4:05can't trust your judgement because when you've got that
- 4:08lack of the positive neurotransmitters, there's a
- 4:12lack of serotonin and oxytocin, your judgement as to what your
- 4:16future's going to be like can't be trusted.
- 4:19But when things improve and you get more of those positive
- 4:23neurotransmitters and you get more joy and happiness and
- 4:26gratitude and feelings of fulfilment, well then how you
- 4:31think of the future changes radically.
- 4:34So I would encourage you if you've gone through a tough time
- 4:36and you're feeling low into this hypnosis session with an open
- 4:39mind and stop believing that things not only can get better,
- 4:44but will get better if you can extract all of the wisdom from
- 4:48the past and start acting as if things will get better and
- 4:52acting in accordance with that. This session was created for an
- 4:56individual client. Some of the suggestions are
- 4:58specific for them. They may not be relevant for
- 5:01you. So if you do like the idea of
- 5:04either working with me over multiple sessions or just a
- 5:07single session, there will be a link in the description where
- 5:10you can book that free consultation call over Zoom.
- 5:13For now though, find a quiet, comfortable place, ideally the
- 5:17kind of lace where you're not going to be disturbed for about
- 5:2020 minutes or so. Relax and enjoy the session.
- 5:47Take a deep breath in and as you breathe in, breathe in a feeling
- 5:57of quiet confidence. And as you exhale, set the
- 6:06intention to release any insecurities, any guilt, any
- 6:12shame. Just allow it to leave your body
- 6:17as you breathe out. And as you breathe in and
- 6:23breathe out, allow each breath to become deeper, longer,
- 6:32breathing in more and exhaling. And I want you to think that if
- 6:41hope had a colour, what colour would it be?
- 6:48You don't have to consciously think.
- 6:51Allow your intuition to create that colour for you.
- 6:57Make it bright, vibrant, and as you breathe in, imagine
- 7:03breathing in that colour of hope in through your nose, into your
- 7:11lungs. And just imagine your heart
- 7:16harnessing that hope and distributing it to every cell in
- 7:22your body. And just imagine that hope going
- 7:28wherever it feels like it's needed most, maybe in your head,
- 7:34your heart, other parts of your body.
- 7:38And as you exhale, release any shame, any guilt, any regrets.
- 7:49Just allow them to leave your body.
- 7:51Imagine them as a grey dark shadow, breathing in hope and
- 7:59releasing anything that is weighing you down.
- 8:03That's it. And the deeper you breathe, the
- 8:08more hope you breathe in. And the longer you breathe out,
- 8:14the more you're releasing anything that isn't serving you
- 8:20as you consider this an emotional transfusion, melting
- 8:27away those blocks, those hindrances, those things that
- 8:34are getting in the way of living life on your terms, breathing in
- 8:42what you need and exhaling what you don't.
- 8:48That's it. And the deeper you breathe, the
- 8:51more relaxed you become. And the more relaxed you become,
- 8:56the deeper you breathe. That's it.
- 8:59And I want you to imagine a place from your past that
- 9:06reminds you of times when you felt great, optimistic,
- 9:12positive, no people around, just the place.
- 9:20And I wonder if you could imagine floating back to that
- 9:24place. You know logically that your
- 9:28body is where it is, but when you dream, you can be anywhere,
- 9:33and now you can be anywhere too. So imagine being in that place
- 9:38where you felt safe, optimistic, calm and relaxed in a good
- 9:45place. And just imagine a comfy chair
- 9:50in that place. Imagine sinking into that chair
- 9:55and just allow the muscles of your body to relax even more.
- 10:01Any thoughts of your mind can begin to settle, just like
- 10:05snowflakes in a snow globe that's finally been set down.
- 10:11That's it. And you might imagine that snow
- 10:14globe, all the snowflakes there settling, resting, going down to
- 10:23their natural place. That's it.
- 10:30And as the stillness returns, you can drift a little deeper
- 10:35inside to that quiet space within you where understanding
- 10:43begins to amplify. And I want you to get a feeling
- 10:51as to what it would be like to have been on a journey.
- 10:57In fact, you could imagine a pathway.
- 11:02Imagine that pathway and you're standing on a path, a winding
- 11:06path through a forest after a storm.
- 11:11The air is fresh and the ground is soft beneath your feet, and
- 11:18though there are broken branches and fallen leaves, there's also
- 11:23new life sprouting everywhere you look, tiny shoots of green
- 11:30pushing through the soil as if the earth itself knows how to
- 11:35heal. And whether it's a violent storm
- 11:40or even a forest fire, nature resets, recalibrates, and when
- 11:48the difficulties are over, things start to renew.
- 11:55So imagine walking forwards on that path now, and with every
- 12:00step you take along that path, feel yourself walking forward.
- 12:08Forward towards peace, towards meaning, towards hope, toward a
- 12:15brighter horizon that was always meant for you.
- 12:23And maybe there was a time, not so long ago, where your mind
- 12:29took you to places you never intended to go, and it may have
- 12:37felt strange, unsettling, scary even.
- 12:44Like Icarus flying too close to the sun, or even like you're
- 12:49falling in a dream. But even that experience, in its
- 12:56chaos and confusion, what if that was part of your inner
- 13:02workings learning journey? Sometimes the mind doesn't
- 13:09break, it breaks open. And through that opening light
- 13:18can enter in ways it never could before.
- 13:23And I want you to think back to that time, but look at it from a
- 13:28position of learning. Observe that period in your life
- 13:35through new eyes. Your job is not to judge, but to
- 13:41extract wisdom. And I want you to imagine that
- 13:45past almost like a timeline of events, and you can visit
- 13:52certain key people you met, key decisions you took, observe what
- 13:59happened without judgement, just to extract wisdom.
- 14:06What if all of those things didn't happen to you, but for
- 14:13you? Is it not the case that you're
- 14:17wiser now than you were before? Is it not the case that you're
- 14:22more discerning now than you were before?
- 14:27In which case there is no need for shame, regret or guilt
- 14:35because the function of those emotions is not to punish you,
- 14:41but to influence your future. So visit key things that change
- 14:48the trajectory that led to a place where you didn't want to
- 14:52be through the eyes of what could I have done differently
- 15:01and what would I do differently if I were back in that same
- 15:05situation now? And as you think that through,
- 15:13maybe there's certain people you wouldn't have formed friendships
- 15:19or relationships with, certain things you wouldn't have
- 15:24consumed, experienced, or done. And you may know that now, you
- 15:32just didn't know that then. And that's where the wisdom
- 15:36comes in. Because if you're wiser now,
- 15:40more discerning now, then even something traumatic or
- 15:46unpleasant can still have utility.
- 15:52They say there is treasure in the trauma.
- 15:56And I want you to extract every bit of gold dust from that
- 16:02moment. Extract to all the value not to
- 16:08be perfect, but to make progress, to feel more
- 16:13resilient, more prepared, more discerning for the future.
- 16:22Because that chapter, that period of your life, staying in
- 16:27places you didn't want to be, long nights or difficult days,
- 16:34but on a sign of weakness or failure.
- 16:37What if they were evidence of your strength, your sensitivity,
- 16:43your desire to be trusting, to be experimental?
- 16:50You're very depth of experience. But now, looking back with wiser
- 16:57eyes, you can begin to recognize that the choices you made,
- 17:04people, substances, paths you trusted, all contributed to what
- 17:13now seems like a mistake, something undesirable.
- 17:22But they do not define you. Life gives lessons, and they
- 17:29were lessons, perhaps intense, accelerated lessons that have
- 17:36given you inside. Few people ever gain.
- 17:42Many people try to help others from a position of second hand
- 17:46knowledge, but you've glimpsed the edge of reality and come
- 17:53back stronger. You came face to face with the
- 17:57abyss, but not beyond it, and you are more aware of your power
- 18:05and the sacred responsibility that comes with it.
- 18:12So imagine now, holding that old version of you in your mind's
- 18:16eye, the one that struggled and lost their footing for a while,
- 18:23and you can send them compassion, understanding, and
- 18:28gratitude. Because that version of you
- 18:33escaped the pull of the abyss, came back from the brink of that
- 18:40black hole. You survived it.
- 18:45That version of you got you through the storm and made it
- 18:50possible for this version of you to exist.
- 18:55Wiser, steadier, grounded in the present.
- 19:02And you might even think of your mind like a powerful instrument,
- 19:08a deep ocean, vast and mysterious.
- 19:13And now you've learned how to navigate its depths.
- 19:19You know where the currents are strong and how to steer your
- 19:23ship with purpose. As you remain on that path,
- 19:30continuing to walk forward, I want you to imagine your future
- 19:36unfolding like a sunrise, each day a little brighter than the
- 19:42last, where you can wake each morning with a quiet sense of
- 19:49ever increasing purpose, a spark of curiosity for what this day
- 19:56might hold. Don't be surprised if you notice
- 20:00yourself smiling more often in a mirror, a reflection in the shop
- 20:06window. Not because everything is
- 20:10perfect, but because. You have accepted the past, are
- 20:17at peace with your journey, and optimistic of continued
- 20:21progress. Don't be surprised if you begin
- 20:27to attract those people who see your value, that you attract
- 20:33work that fulfills you and attract opportunities that match
- 20:39the person you've become and are becoming.
- 20:46What if you give a vote of confidence in the person that
- 20:50you're becoming? If the person of you that has
- 20:54got through this does certain things, then set yourself
- 21:00challenges to do those things. Small, incremental, tiny steps.
- 21:09Small decisions that build a stronger and stronger foundation
- 21:15under your feet. I want you to get a feeling that
- 21:22when you lose hope, even for a while, you can't know what the
- 21:28future has in store. Therefore, make decisions as if
- 21:36your future gets better and better.
- 21:41And each decision, each action, creates more of those wonderful
- 21:48things that let you know you're making even more progress.
- 21:56And as weeks turn into months, you can look back and realize
- 22:01how far you've come, how much lighter, calmer, and more
- 22:06hopeful you feel. What if that difficult chapter,
- 22:13that daunting period, was not the end of your story?
- 22:19It was the prologue to your awakening?
- 22:22And I want you to think of just one powerful thing that when
- 22:31that happens in your future, will be a milestone of progress,
- 22:40a significant thing that lets you know you're moving in the
- 22:43right direction. And just imagine that now,
- 22:49initially seeing yourself like you're someone else, but see
- 22:54that future version of you with the positivity, energy and
- 22:59smiles of your past, but also tempered with the wisdom, the
- 23:06grounding, the experience of what you've gone through.
- 23:14The goal is not to become who you were, it's to become better
- 23:20than you were. The energy and joy of your past,
- 23:27but also the wisdom of your experience.
- 23:34I want you to get a sense that you can step into that future.
- 23:37Feel how it would feel as if you were living that future now.
- 23:43Starting to feel that you are priming your mind to reawaken
- 23:49those neural pathways that can hope, that can believe, that can
- 23:56trust in your abilities to make things better than ever before.
- 24:04It's time to leave this forest path in your imagination and
- 24:09return to the present. But in doing so, take wonderful
- 24:14new ideas, wisdom, resources all the way back with you realizing
- 24:22that this has been a journey within your imagination.
- 24:26A journey of thoughts within thoughts, ideas within ideas,
- 24:31and dreams within dreams. But now take a deep breath in
- 24:37through your nose and down through your nose.
- 24:43Just wiggle your fingers, wiggle your toes, connect and calibrate
- 24:49into the here and the now as I now count from 1:00 to 10:00 to
- 24:56awaken you. You will awaken feeling more
- 25:00optimistic, having released any shame or guilt, and feeling a
- 25:05sense of hope for the future. Starting to count. 123 Waking up
- 25:13456. More alert 7-8.
- 25:17Open your eyes, open your eyes, 910.
- 25:20Wide awake, wide awake, wide awake.
